The failure to appear was for a traffic ticket at a speed trap in Arkansas. I accidentally mixed the date up. I paid the fines (both traffic and FTA) as soon as I found out. In the America it was classified as a Class C misdemeanor.
My concern is Canada classifies FTA as a hybrid offense, further it seems from my reading that Canada also treats all hybrid offenses as indictable for border crossings. In crass American terms, it seems if I try to cross the border they're going to see me as a felon? Is that correct?
Logically it seems like it is, but I'm in denial. I love Canada. Toronto is my favorite city to visit, though the last time was before Covid, and I've been saving up to do a trip to see the Canadian Rockies and British Columbia. Is there any hope or am I likely banned?

The takeaways from this data are pretty clear to me. Of the top third of teams in the league, our offensive rating is the most "perilous" based on shot diet. We have by far the best free throw rate in the league, and free throws are fantastic. But when the playoffs come, officials are going to flip the switch, and Embiid is going to get fewer of the close calls. This happens every playoffs. Over the last 3 years of playoffs, Embiid played in 30 games and averaged 9.4 free throws per game. In the regular season from 2021-2023, he averaged almost 12 FTA per game. And it won't just be Embiid, we all know playoff refereeing is completely different across the board. Teams like Boston have gone to the extreme, deciding to just jack up a ton of three pointers every game, and its worked for them. They have by far the highest 3 point volume in the league and they are still 6th in efficiency, which is a pretty lethal combination. Dallas has the 2nd highest three point volume, they are less efficient, but it still keeps them in the top 10 among offenses. The Sixers three point volume is near the bottom of the league, while we have one of the highest mid range rates in the league (thanks to Embiid) and a top 10 rate in rim volume, which is good, even though our rim efficiency on the whole is poor (Melton and Tobias, hello). Where we are "most" efficient is the mid range, which is where Embiid has feasted this season. He is in the 91st percentile in terms of mid range efficiency, and we've all seen it, we don't even need the stats to back it up. Which brings me to my trade pivot.....Demar Derozan. His name came up a few months ago, and people pretty quickly shot it down, which seemed logical to me at the time. He did not seem like a fit because of the way the league is trending. He is not a volume three point shooter, hes older, and the fit did not seem like it was there. But, looking at where we are, and where we can realistically hope to get to, I am starting to think that he might actually be an ideal guy to pivot to if we are not able to dislodge another star player who has a more ideal player profile. Here are my reasons:
Maxey - Derozan - Batum - Harris - Embiid Maxey is the only guy under 6'7 in that lineup. Derozan, Batum and Harris are all capable of bodying up on guys like Tatum and Brown. And all those guys except Batum can play 40 minutes a night in the playoffs. If we can bring in an elite, younger guard, I am still all for that. But that seems more unlikely as the days pass. If Chicago would ask for multiple first rounders, then obviously this is a non-starter and you can ignore it. But, for matching salaries and a few second round picks, I think he'd be a great addition to the team. |
