2024.05.15 17:01 TragicKingdom1 June to September 2024 Rate Selection Process, Part 1 - Idea Discussion & Submission

Read this whole post before submitting! Posting your ideas here DOES NOT count as a submission.

Time flies, it's already time for rate selection again! Please be advised of the following:
  1. The winner of the Payola poll a few weeks ago is Commercial Male Hip Hop! If any of your ideas fall under the umbrella of Main Rap Boys, then make sure to mention it on the submission form so your idea can be voted on.
  2. We also have another meta rate approaching, so in total there will be six rates selected through the normal process.

How to Construct a Rate Idea

  • Generally, your idea should consist of 40-60 songs that are bound together by common concepts. These can be shared audience (e.g. depressed British), sound (e.g. psychedelic rock), a specific time period (e.g. 1970s), general popularity (e.g. bubbling under mainstays), or anything else you can think of. The more overlap that your rate has between its songs in these aspects, the stronger the idea is. You can be as creative as you'd like with your combinations, but you need to be able to make the case as to why the songs belong together in a rate.
  • The easiest way to find commonalities among songs is by putting 3 or 4 albums together in an idea. However, you can also construct rates with loose songs if you have a strong concept tying them together (this is called a "grab bag" rate.)
  • You can also include a "bonus rate" in your idea which are generally leftover tracks that are related to the overarching concept but do not fit in the main rate for whatever reason (e.g. loose singles in between album eras.) Bonus rates are optional to complete at the time of rating and should not be included in an idea without strong justification for it.
  • Be mindful of the length of your idea; do not include more songs for the sake of it. The average rate should be less than 3 hours long with the bonus rate included, and rates over 4 hours long are very unlikely to be picked unless they consist of very popular songs. To check how long your rate is, I recommend putting all of the songs in a playlist on your streaming service of choice.
  • Albums released in 2024 (including unreleased albums) or MOST albums that have already been rated are ineligible for inclusion in your ideas. The albums from previous rates that ARE eligible are those from the first three years of rates (i.e. covered by the first three All Stars rates) that did NOT ever spawn a rate winning song. For clarity, HERE is a pastebin of all of the albums eligible for a rerate. HOWEVER, you cannot submit an idea with JUST rerated albums.
  • Rate ideas can include songs that have been previously rated but should not focus on them, so as to not feel like an All Stars rate.

How to Submit Your Rate Idea

  • All submissions will be handled through this Google form. Please do not direct message me your ideas.
  • You are required to fill out the four following fields in order for your submission to be counted:
  • Title: The name of your rate. It should summarize the overarching concept, but feel free to come up with something catchy and fun as well.
  • Albums/songs included: A list of the albums or songs included in the rate. You can simply list the albums if applicable (e.g. Artist - Title vs. Artist - Title vs. Artist - Title), but if you are submitting a grab bag rate you must include a Pastebin/Pastee/etc link to the songs included.
  • Description: Describe what ties the albums/songs together if you weren't able to fit it into the title, and list relevant information like number of songs and length of rate (e.g. 1 hour 56 minutes.) Keep this as brief as possible: if you go over ~100 words I will shorten it myself to the most relevant information.
  • Host needed? If you would like to host the rate by yourself, select "No." If you are uninterested in hosting altogether, select "Yes." If you want a cohost, select "Cohost wanted." If you want a specific other person to host your rate, they should submit the idea themselves.
  • You are limited to two ideas submitted per cycle. However, please do not submit low effort ideas just for the sake of filling up both of your spots.
  • If you submit an identical idea as somebody else, I will arbitrarily decide which description is better and include that one in the voting, but I will encourage you to cohost the rate together if it is selected. If there is ANY difference between two ideas, they will be put up for voting separately.

How We Pick the Rates

  • In the next stage, you'll see that we are measuring two metrics of popularity: "approval" and "favorites." Approval will be based on a simple thumbs up/thumbs down/neutral vote for each rate. Favorites will be based on polling each person's five favorite ideas per cycle.
  • Generally, the six most popular rate ideas across both metrics will be picked. However, we will also consider how the selected rates play off of each other, in an effort to ensure a maximum level of diversity in genre and audience.
  • Rate ideas from active rate participants who are enthusiastic about hosting are more likely to be picked. Likewise, rate ideas from negative presences in the community are less likely to be picked.
Please use the comment section below for the following purposes:
  • Posting your ideas for feedback and/or promotion
  • Asking for advice on what artists/albums/songs to include in your earthshattering rate idea
  • Discussing what sorts of rates you'd like to see picked in general
  • Finding someone who would like to cohost your rate with you
Also, be sure to check out the following rates which are currently accepting submissions:

These submissions will close on Wednesday, May 22nd at 4PM Eastern time. HERE is the link to submit in case you missed it earlier.

2024.05.15 17:01 samdane7777 Obscure Constitutional Cases That Would Be Used To Erode Code is Speech--Excerpts from Coincenter

Professional conduct regulation cases do not support the constitutionality of this rulemaking

The existing broker disclosure obligations as applied to customer agents and principals, though never explicitly validated in the courts, may alternatively be found constitutional as a reasonable regulation of professional conduct that incidentally burdens some speech activities of the persons engaged in that regulated conduct. In that interpretation, the conduct being regulated is that of entering into an agency relationship with a customer or else acting as the principal in a sale to the customer. While a written contract is speech, the assumption of a legal relationship that it embodies is doubtlessly conduct and can be the subject of regulation.
As the Court held in United States v. O’Brien, laws affecting speech that are aimed at the regulation of non-expressive conduct are still analyzed under First Amendment jurisprudence, but face a lower level of constitutional scrutiny than laws aimed directly at the regulation of expressive conduct or at speech activities themselves: “a sufficiently important governmental interest in regulating the nonspeech element [of the regulated conduct] can justify incidental limitations on First Amendment freedoms.”47 The compulsion to merely report privately to the IRS and to the taxpayer certain “purely factual and uncontroversial information” about the regulated non-expressive conduct may rightly be framed as an “incidental” limitation on traditional brokers’ otherwise unabridged First Amendment rights.
The O’Brien standard, however, is only applicable if the rule is targeted at regulating non-expressive conduct. Things become more complicated when the rule is targeted at regulating expressive conduct or at speech itself. There is a long though underappreciated line of cases stemming from O’Brien that points toward a reasonably straightforward series of tests for when regulation of professional conduct that burdens speech activities is constitutional. That line has been best illuminated by attorney Robert Kry in his article, “The ‘Watchman for Truth’: Professional Licensing and the First Amendment.”48 Kry, summarizing and synthesizing many cases, finds that
In the case of a broker who is, in fact, an agent of a customer or a principal in a sale to a customer, the regulation is plausibly aimed at the non-expressive component of the professional’s activity. An agent under common law principles is acting on behalf of her customer. When a broker agrees to a sale, she binds the customer to that sale. The reporting requirement, therefore, is merely a requirement to disclose certain facts about one’s sales, i.e. one’s conduct as an agent. As a principal in a sale to a customer, the broker is, once again, engaged in conduct, a sale, and the reporting requirement merely discloses facts about that conduct. Additionally, brokers of this type are in most cases already subject to a licensing or registration requirement under other statutes.50 Those forms of professional conduct are traditionally regulated and the tax laws merely provide for an additional recordkeeping and reporting requirement associated with that conduct. Altogether, the reporting requirement, though compelled speech, appears to be a regulation aimed at the non-expressive component of a professional’s activity. It is therefore likely constitutional.
As described earlier however, the Treasury Department’s proposed rule inappropriately departs from that customer agent or principal standard and seeks to compel speech from persons who are engaged in no such regulated conduct. A mere publisher or maintainer of software, websites, or smart contracts is not in an agency relationship with any customer, nor is she selling anything to any customer apart from, potentially, a license to use her tools or a fee charged for relaying or publishing the user’s data on a communications network or blockchain. Additionally, unlike typical brokerage, these activities do not trigger any licensing or registration requirements under other state or federal statutory schemes.
Indeed, even when such person is relaying actual cryptocurrency transaction messages that, once recorded in the blockchain, will effect a sale of some cryptocurrency, these entities typically have no actual ability to act on behalf of the user and no actual or apparent authority under agency law to act on their behalf. At most, they can choose whether or not to relay the signed transaction message (but so too can an internet service provider); they cannot alter the contents of that message such that the terms of the sale would change. They cannot and do not act as an agent of any customer nor are they a principal in a digital asset sale to any customer.51
These persons may be involved in conduct in other ways, such as paying for web hosting services, paying fees on cryptocurrency networks to record software or data in the blockchain, taking fees from users to relay their messages, or simply paying rent or otherwise maintaining facilities wherein they or their employees do the work of developing software or maintaining communications tools, but all of those activities are aimed at engaging in speech, the publication of software and data, and none of those activities give rise to the type of fiduciary or agency-like financial relationship, i.e. conduct, that justifies third-party tax reporting obligations.
Moreover, these persons have deliberately designed their software, websites, and smart contract tooling such that it can be useful to a trader and capable of facilitating their trades or other desires without the need for any agency relationship or for any legal or trust-based relationship with the publisher or any other party whatsoever. The user can and does do it all themselves. That is the point of cryptocurrency and “decentralized finance.” We can debate the merit of such a design goal,52 but what is not debatable is that this is how these tools are presently designed.53 By demanding that these publishers rewrite their tools such that an agency relationship is established between the author of the tool and its user, such that the name, Social Security number, and other intimate details of the user are entrusted to the alleged “broker,” the regulation is squarely aimed at compelling not merely the disclosure of trading data and taxable gains, but also the compelled creation of significant expressive software and tooling to solicit and collect data in a manner that would otherwise be antithetical to the goals of the software developer. Such an order is so unprecedented that it is difficult to find appropriate metaphors or past examples. It is as if a state—frustrated that it cannot determine who is reading which books—ordered that novelists shall hold in-person book readings during which they must collect and report information about their audience.
Accordingly, when applied to mere publishers and maintainers of software, websites, and smart contracts, these regulations target the expressive activity of the alleged broker. That does not mean, however, that such rules will automatically be unconstitutional. The Court has dealt with several regulatory schemes aimed at expressive professional conduct, such as a lawyer giving legal advice to a client. Throughout these cases the Court has developed a robust series of standards for constitutionality that are focused primarily on “which kinds of advice are licensable based on how closely they resemble forms of communication associated with fiduciary relationships.”54 This leads us to the second question in Kry’s analysis of the First Amendment limits to regulating professional conduct, what he calls the “value neutral test” because it applies irrespective of whether the speech affected is a matter of public concern and irrespective of the motives of the speaker:
Given the in-person and client-specific nature of legal services, there should be no surprise that under these cases the professional regulation of attorneys, including licensing, limits on solicitation and advertising, and—as in this rulemaking—compelled disclosures, typically withstands constitutional scrutiny. In the context of developers of cryptocurrency systems, however, the answer to Kry’s twin questions of characteristic-dependence and person-to-person context is an unqualified “no.” It is taken as written that software, websites, and smart contracts in the cryptocurrency space are built such that they are generic, serving the needs of whoever wants to use them irrespective of the characteristics of that user. It is also a given that these tools are shared widely over the internet and used freely by whoever happens to download them or (in some cases) whoever pays to license the software or pays to have their transactions relayed by the software. As such, they are never “delivered in the context of a person- to-person relationship.”56 Accordingly, regulation of the speech activities of these developers, including compulsions to report and develop expressive software that enables that reporting, would face strict scrutiny by the Court and be found unconstitutional.
While these standards are general principles that are equally applicable to any kind of expressive conduct regulation, it is nonetheless worth noting that several of the cases that first articulated these standards dealt explicitly with speech, including software, that advised and facilitated sales of valuable assets. As such, the speech in question in these cases was very similar factually to the speech that would be burdened under the Treasury Department’s proposed rule. The value-neutral test was developed in Lowe v. SEC, a case involving the unconstitutional application of the Investment Advisers Act to a person merely publishing a public newsletter,57 and it was further reinforced in Taucher v. Born58 and two similar cases59 dealing with the unconstitutional application of the Commodities Exchange Act to the developers of commodities trading software.60

2024.05.15 16:54 medstudent0529 WriskE appeal result

Hi, I recently tried to appeal for my WriskE (a prescription assessment) result. I complained two stations
1) I said I did put patients name, dob and hospital number. 2) I said I did prescribe the h pylori eradication treatments correctly (metronidazole, Clarithromycin and lanzoprazole)
I need 7 marks to pass, med school decide to give me 3 marks for the first station I complained.
I still need four marks to pass but med school insist I got the frequency wrong in h pylori
I got everything ticked in the feedback form for this station, and I said why I only got 7 out of 22 marks. Med school then said they marked it incorrectly first time and I got frequency wrong.
I am 100% I got frequency right but I got no evidence to show and I don’t know what to do.
Plus, even if I got frequency wrong I believe I would still get marks for drug name, dose and route because they’re on the top of the marking algorithm which definitely will be over 10 marks at least
I have sent another appeal letter to the Newcastle casework team, which is a level up (level 2, max level 3).
Anything else I should do? I just feel like everything is a bit unfair since it’s all under their control🤢

2024.05.15 16:43 radondude My Bladder Cancer Experience

I get a lot of messages asking about my cancer, so before I get to my story: I highly recommend visiting BCAN.org and asking to be paired up in their survivor to survivor program. Every diagnosis is different and the survivor to survivor program pairs you with someone with similar age, gender, and diagnosis, so you can ask all about their experience. I have enjoyed volunteering with the program and the newly diagnosed that I speak to seem to as well.
My story:
In March of 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage III muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Leading up to that diagnosis I had recurring episodes of extremely painful urination for nearly two years. Not a drop of blood in my urine. The episodes were becoming longer and more frequent. I had urgency and an extreme pain that had me calling out sick from work. It was pure misery and by the time I was diagnosed it was actually a relief.
The test I urge anyone reading this to get is a urine cytology. I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice. In my experience the urine cytology saved my life. It's a cheap "pee cup" test you can get at any urologist's office. More info here. My easy to remember rhyme is: if it burns when you pee, get a urine cytology.
Up until that test, doctors had been meandering down a path that was not focused on cancer. I was 33 years old (37M now) and due to my young age they didn't consider cancer. I had been in some mountain bike accidents with pelvic trauma so I was misdiagnosed with Pudendal Neuralgia. Symptoms matched but the treatment offered no relief.
I did my urine cytology. 15 minutes later "Atypical cells" led to a bladder scope and I was looking at my tumors in the urologist's office. The tumors were biopsied and I was scheduled for TURBT. This is where my stage III diagnosis was given. I felt immediate relief from the painful urination after tumor removal. The tumors were pressing on my ureters so it felt like kidney stones all the time. We immediately started chemo and my doctors began telling me I would lose my bladder. I did MVAC chemo for four rounds over the summer. This was very intense: what you think about when people say chemo. Lost my hair--gained weight which is not uncommon--and overall felt like shit. After that I was given a few weeks to recover and then had a radical cystectomy with neobladder diversion in August of 2020. This was not an easy decision but the prognosis was best. I tend to trust the data.
SHOUTOUT to my medical team: Dr. Bupathi & Dr. Monticelli of Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers; as well as Dr. Shandra Wilson my urologist and surgeon. Their skills and expertise assuaged all my concerns and made me feel so confident. THANK YOU SO MUCH. For those reading: get a good team; ask lots of questions; and don't be afraid to get multiple opinions. I keep several journals, which help a lot and I'll detail that at the bottom of this post*
Recovery from the neobladder surgery was the hardest part. I had a foley catheter and "grenade" for six weeks or so. My cath bag looked like a bag of red wine due to blood. They walk you around a lot to recover faster. It involved a lot of bed-rest intermixed with short walks. I think I was out of the office for at least a month. I am in generally very good physical shape and even several weeks after this procedure it was hard to walk more than 1/4 mile.
From there I thought I was cancer free. I lead my life with my family**. Here is what saved my life again: Signaterra testing. Dr. Bupathi had these tests scheduled every six weeks. It tracks genetic cancer markers in your blood. The test results look like the stock market except you want it to go down. After several months we noticed it was rising again. We ordered a PET scan, found enlarged lymph nodes, and determined my cancer had returned (or never left). I began a second chemo regiment followed by immunotheraphy (that I just completed yesterday!!!). CisGem chemo was quite difficult. The C in MVAC stands for cisplatin and it's generally one of the hardest drugs to tolerate. After a few difficult rounds we switched to carboplatin and it became much more tolerable. After that I did two years of Bavencio/Avelumab. My Natera test results showed that my cancer had dropped to untraceable levels during chemo, so I effectively beat it before starting the PDL1 inhibitor therapy. However, my team strongly encouraged me to complete the immuno. To me, it felt like putting out a campfire: add water, stir, add water, stir. You gotta make sure it's really gone!
The bavencio PDL1 therapy caused me a lot of mood swings and sometimes caused immune system flare ups (i.e. "immuno flu"). For the physical flare ups I used prednisone, as needed. I tried to do so sparingly as it basically cancels out your treatment. The mood swings were the worst. I would often be despondent and depressed for a few days after treatment. Other times, I'd feel no mood alterations. Most often, I'd be extremely irritable for about a week after treatment (treatments were every two weeks so it was very difficult).
I'm now two years cancer free and beginning my recovery from the immunotherapy treatments. I am so happy to live in an age of modern medicine. Within my lifetime many cancers will become manageable diseases--it appears to me that bladder cancer already has. Reach out to BCAN support groups and DM me if my post didn't answer a question of yours. Good luck! You got this!
*Journaling helped me tremendously. I had three journals (google docs). The first was an overall journal detailing my doctor visits. The second was a symptom journal. The third was an insurance journal/spreadsheet. The first journal served almost as a blog, which I shared with close friends and family. That way I didn't have to have the same conversation over and over. It's nice to have family and friends interested, but it does wear at you when you have to tell the same doctor visit over and over to people. This cut down on those discussions and allowed me to have more enjoyable calls with well-wishers. The second journal I would write down daily side effects and 1-10 pain scales. This was extremely important because I could bring it up with doctors and I wouldn't have to remember how I felt, I could look it up. It also helped me understand insidious side effects that take months to reveal themselves. This was the most important journal and kept me sane. There are soooo many side effects and when you start a cancer treatment program you often have no choice-- so why read them? Well this journal would help me understand when something was a side effect. Often just knowing that it wasn't you it was the drug would have a calming effect. The third journal was so I could fight insurance and get what I deserve. Insurance companies try to reduce payouts through exhaustion. They want you to give up. By documenting your experience you give yourself ammunition when you have to escalate a claim or file an appeal. You have everything laid out in an organized manner. You can get it out of your head and onto a spreadsheet so that you don't think about it when you go to bed at night. I had to file appeals several times, sometimes with Colorado Division of Insurance and my record-keeping was a tremendous boon to my case. Don't pay a bill as soon as you get it! Wait until you get the claim record from your insurance company and make sure the number on the bill matches what the insurance company told you to pay. If you cut that check wrong, you'll seldom get that money back!
**Neobladders do not have musculature like your normal bladder. I had several very severe bladder infections--a few that led to hospitalization. During the first 18 months or so, I was not catheterizing becuase I was under the impression that my new bladder worked. I peed constantly; however, I was retaining over one liter of urine at all times. This urine kept becoming infected and putting me in miserable situations. Under my urologists advice, I began cathing and immediately felt great. I lost nearly 10 lbs in "water weight" and no longer have any urgency issues. I can sleep through the night, but often will cath around five hours into the night just so I can sleep in later. On average I cath about once every three hours. It's not painful when done correctly. It's honestly just tedious. However, after all of this the only way my life is abnormal now is my cathing. I can swim, climb, play with my son and do any physical activity; it just takes longer to pee now. I'll take that win!

2024.05.15 16:42 Super_Nova02 How to pass informations from a java program to a javascript using http

Hello, I'm trying to create a java program that sends some info to a website. I've tried searching online how to do this, but everything I tried failed. I atttach my code down here. I would give my github but it is a private project. Every suggestion is helpful, thank you very much.
This is my javascript code:
const button = document.querySelector(".clickbutton"); const getData = () =>{ console.log("Funzioneaperta"); fetch('http://localhost/Assignement-03/assignment03/Web', { method: "POST", headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json', 'Accept': 'application/json' } }) .then(response => { if (!response.ok) { throw new Error(`HTTP error! status: ${response.status}`); } console.log(response); return response.json(); }) .then(data => console.log(data)) .catch(error => console.error('Error:', error)); } button.addEventListener('click', () => { console.log("Grazie per avermi cliccato"); getData(); }) const getData = () =>{ console.log("Funzioneaperta"); fetch('http://localhost/Assignement-03/assignment03/Web', { method: "POST", headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json', 'Accept': 'application/json' } }) .then(response => { if (!response.ok) { throw new Error(`HTTP error! status: ${response.status}`); } console.log(response); return response.json(); }) .then(data => console.log(data)) .catch(error => console.error('Error:', error)); } button.addEventListener('click', () => { console.log("Grazie per avermi cliccato"); getData(); })
And this is my java code:
import java.util.Date; import java.util.Random; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.OutputStream; import java.net.HttpURLConnection; import java.net.MalformedURLException; import java.net.ProtocolException; import java.net.URISyntaxException; import java.net.URL; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.concurrent.TimeUnit; public class apiCall { public static void main(String[] args) throws URISyntaxException, IOException { while(true) { Random rand = new Random(); int randomLevel = rand.nextInt(50); Date date = new Date(); SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy h:mm:ss a"); String formattedDate = sdf.format(date); String data = "{\"level\": " + randomLevel + ", \"timestamp\": " + formattedDate + "}"; System.out.println("You are sending this: " + data); try { URL url = new URL("http://localhost/Assignement-03/assignment03/Web"); HttpURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection(); connection.setRequestMethod("POST"); connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "application/json"); connection.setDoOutput(true); try (OutputStream os = connection.getOutputStream()) { byte[] input = data.getBytes(); os.write(input, 0, input.length); } int responseCode = connection.getResponseCode(); System.err.println(responseCode); } catch (MalformedURLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (ProtocolException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } try { TimeUnit.SECONDS.sleep(2); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } }

2024.05.15 16:34 SomeWomanfromCanada What, if anything should I make of this radiology report?

I (52F) went to A&E back in late February because I waws having trouble drawing a full breath. Thinking I was going to be Rx'd some inhalers and perhaps referred to the respirology (I've been having problems for years but have never formally been diagnosed with asthma), you can imagine my shock when I was advised that I was being admitted because they were unhappy with some cardiac blood work results (they're working through those as I type).
Anyway, I'm on a waiting list to be seen by the Respiratory service (appointment is in mid July) but I've been given access to the radiology report(s) from all of the film they took on the day of my visit to A&E (X ray/CT scan etc).
A HOSPITAL NEAR YOU Patient Name: SomeWomanFromCanada MIS Number: 8186935918824 Hospital Number: 295375063 10118287 22/02/2024 CT Angiogram pulmonary Clinical Question:SOB intermittent worse this today, raised d-dimer and troponin?PE Findings: No previous imaging available for comparison. Adequate opacification of the pulmonary artery trunk (350HU). No pulmonary embolism from the pulmonary artery trunk to the subsegmental levels. There is reflux of contrast into the hepatic veins, no other radiological evidence of right heart strain. There is patchy atelectasis and parenchymal infiltrate in both lower lobes. There are small granulomas noted in the right upper, lower lobe and the left upper lobe and scattered tiny sub 2mm nodules in the right middle and lower lobes. No pleural effusion or focal consolidation. No endobronchial lesions. No thoracic lymphadenopathy. Unremarkable appearance of the imaged upper abdominal viscera. No destructive osseous lesions. Conclusion: No pulmonary embolism. Non specific patchy atelectasis and parencymal infiltrate as desribed. Dr Cassian Andor Consultant Radiologist GMC 2266977 This report is generated for the referring clinician. Should patients have queries regarding the report, these should be discussed with the referring clinical team. Reported by: Dr Orson KRENNICK
Can anyone please tell me what to make of this report?
I''m most interested in the references to _patchy atelectasis_ and _parencymal infiltrate_
From my limited medical knowledge, there's something going on in my lungs but it's not cancerous or anything icky like that nor is it cardiac in nature or a blood clot.
FWIW, I am prone to getting bronchitis every time I get a head cold (regardless of how mild the cold is); in the winter, cold air triggers repeated episodes of bronchitis (when I lived in Canada, I carried a bottle of Buckleys Mixture and an oral syringe in my purse all winter every winter because it was the only thing that would come close to helping the cough).
I've also recently been prescribed a 'blue' salbutamol (rescue) inhaler and a Clenil Modulite 100mcg (beclamethasone) 'brown' (reliever) inhaler by my GP (while I wait for my appointment with the respiratory service) ... I've felt better since I've started using them (I had a lung function test this morning and haven't had the Clenil Modulite since Monday night and am feeling a little congested in my chest.
Anyway, I am new to all of this and I thank you all for a) reading this far and b) offering your collective wisdom as I try to figure out WTF is going on.

2024.05.15 16:30 amtexe Roast my Resume/CV - Wealth Management

Hi all,
Please roast my resume! Looking for feedback since I am looking to move upwards. Seeking client-facing specialist roles in Private Wealth but also open to entry level positions in more technical investment roles (e.g. portfolio analyst / investment analyst). I am aware with the latter I would likely need to pursue something like the CFA to be considered. In the meantime, any and all feedback would be appreciated - particularly with wording and impact. Also open to suggestions on how I can spice up my resume with more skills and eye-candy.
A couple of notes for those outside of the UK (before I get bombarded by comments): it is customary to include high school information even for those who have graduated a long time ago. I’m aware in the US/othe rcountries I would likely leave this off my resume. Additionally - "upper second-class" is indeed the grade (equivalent to GPA) I received at University - it is approximately equivalent to a 3.5 GPA for us.
Cheers!

2024.05.15 16:28 UnicornWaffles37 Travel mechanic feedback

I’m hoping for some feedback on travel mechanics for an upcoming session. I’ve never run something like this and I want to make sure this is a fun challenge for players. The group is 5 level 5 characters (they’ll most likely level up during travel).
I’m wondering:
  1. Is this too much? Are there too many components?
  2. Is 4 checks per day too many? Would 3 be better?
  3. Should exhaustion levels be tied to ½ day instead of ¼ day? Should I not even present this mechanic?
  4. Is the psychic damage unnecessary? Maybe instead they need to do a save, and if they fail they’re frightened for 1 hour? Or maybe remove any mechanic like this?
  5. If they got lost, is it fair that their first check of the next day is with disadvantage?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

2024.05.15 16:22 Fartyfivedegrees Falsely accused of workplace harassment.

I’m sharing a situation that my relative is experiencing at his work which is a franchise store, not just a standalone small business. This store recently had a female employee quit and and at same time she made claims of harassment by the male staff in the dept she worked in, my relative being one of the men in that dept. Things like inappropriate and rude talk, jokes etc. The males in that dept- there are 4, and I think this complainant was the only female, are now being asked by management to take some ‘online sensitivity training’, and also sign some letter though I don’t think he’s seen that letter yet.
The issue I see here is that there was no indication of the person complaining or having an problem when working there, this claim only occurred when she resigned ie there was no known history of complaints. The woman’s personal situation isn’t good: working at this store for only a few months, and was doing poorly at the job. Low sales, not passing training course levels etc. To me this seems like management is trying to make scapegoats of the males in that dept rather than taking responsibility for the situation and simply passing it on to their legal team to handle what really appears to be false accusation. We think her aim is to simply get money from the company, expecting some sort of “settlement” to make her happy. I told my relative that he should refuse to participate in anything that implies admission of guilt i.e. why take sensitivity training when he claims there was not any harassment occurring, or signing a letter? I think this could end up badly for him- sort of like taking the fall for management- the employer may be lying if they tell him it’s all good. My question is what rights does my relative have in this situation and what should his response be? Anything I’ve looked up implies giving full co-operation but that’s during an investigation and there hasn’t been one. No interviews with HR or other corporate office personnel, and nothing provided for updated status of situation. My understanding is that he was talked to by the store owner and told of the harrassment accusation then advised the male staff will need to take the online training and sign a letter.

2024.05.15 16:15 fikarian My boss's boss is gossiping about me to the whole team.

TL/DR at the bottom..
I have no idea how I got here, how this happened or what to do.
My current direct report (we'll call them L) and I are the only two fully remote employees on our team and we were hired at the same time. Everyone else has a hybrid work schedule and before covid they went into work every day.
From day one, I felt like I was kind of just... ignored. Throughout the interview process I was very transparent that I did not have direct experience in some of the duties but they chose to hire me based on my relevant industry experience and my education.
In the one year I have been at this position, several people higher than I am have quit and our team has had to reorganize not once, not twice, but three times, which has resulted me being separated by three levels from the person who originally hired me (I'll call them J). That person is now my boss's, boss's boss.
With this most recent reorganization, I had a one on one last week with my boss's boss (I'll call them C) and wanted to know how they thought I was doing in the midst of this new department structure. I asked because I honestly could not tell you how I'm doing. I've gotten next to no feedback from anyone except for the guy who was hired remotely with me who is now my boss/direct report (i.e. L). In this meeting C told me that they think I'm doing a great job! Cool!
However, two days ago, L called me and asked me if I had had a meeting with C. I said yes and told him what C had said to me.
L goes on to explain that he just got off a call with C who said the following things:
  1. C was taken aback that I was asking for feedback and said that they "chickened out" and couldn't tell me the truth, which is that I am universally hated on the team.
  2. C said that she was actively trying to push me into another team
  3. C has spoken to multiple employees on my team who have been gossiping about things I "said" about other coworkers and they all can't wait for me to be fired (to be clear, I take a firm stance on not gossiping or talking negatively about my coworkers and NONE of the things L relayed to me about what people are saying are true)
  4. C intends to influence L's year end review of me
  5. No one on this team wanted to see me get hired. They're angry that I was hired into the pay bracket I was when they apparently have all had to climb the ranks to get there for years. They're angry that I came into this position and that, a year later, I'm not a complete expert in this thing I've had zero specific experience in.
  6. J, who hired me, regrets her decision and placed C in their current role to try and see if they can fix me and "my issues" or fire me.
I was devastated to learn this. This is THE first time that I've heard about any of this and I'm shocked that I'm only hearing these things a year later. Everyone has been so kind to my face that this was a major shocker. My self esteem is totally shot because I truly had no idea this was happening. Almost like, how could I be so stupid? I've witnessed C gossip about other employees on calls with me and L and but I never thought I'd hear this.
I have produced work for C and J many times and they have told me straight to my face how excellent of a job I've done. And I really thought like I was finally getting to a place where I was hitting my stride.
I feel like I'm in a total bind here. If I say anything to anyone including HR, everyone will know that L was the one who told me and I do not trust that L will back me up on this. I have no idea what to do. What would you do?
TL/DR: company has reorg'd 3 times and I now find myself in a toxic work environment and have recently learned that everyone apparently hates me.

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer my services for free as I have financial obligations to meet. The compensation I am requesting is both fair and necessary.
As a freelancer, I do not receive health insurance or similar benefits; my earnings are directly tied to my workload/output. Please consider this before offering a lower compensation, or realistically assess whether your budget can support the project you envision.
I am more than willing to go the extra mile for projects or clients that offer a rewarding experience, especially for those projects in which I have a high level of interest. (your service provider eventually go MIA because of change in interests)

2024.05.15 16:09 suswang8 TD Bank: Advice on Deciphering US-Based Job Titles?

TD Bank has an extremely confusing job title system. Question regarding US-based roles, please:
If I'm an E.D. at JPM right now, what specifically should I aim for (title/level-wise) at TD Bank in NYC?
-1- How does a US Level 10 or Level 11 correlate to other US-bank roles such as VP or Executive Director (at JPM, for example)?
-2- Slightly separate question: How does a Canadian AVP title correlate to the same JPM roles? Does it matter, or should all I care about be whether it is Level 10 or Level 11 aspect?
