2024.05.11 19:47 TheAstronomyGame Good Vitamin E Sources
u/acivilizedman and I compiled a list of good vitamin E sources that are also Peat-friendly.
u/acivilizedman 's contributions:
- Pastured eggs (NOT conventional): ~10% vitamin E per egg, ~0.2g PUFA (I had to read multiple studies and do some math to come to this conclusion - unfortunately I don't remember which studies or how I did the math, but I am pretty confident that this is an accurate "average")
- Mango: 20% vitamin E per mango, 0.5g PUFA
- Red bell pepper: 17% vitamin E per pepper, 0.3g PUFA
- Broccoli: 10% vitamin E per 100g, 0.1g PUFA
- Asparagus: 10% vitamin E per 100g, 0.1g PUFA
- Carrots: 4% vitamin E per carrot, 0.1g PUFA
My contributions (using Cronometer as a source):
- Tomato sauce: 24% vitamin E per cup, 0.3g PUFA
- Butternut squash: 9% vitamin E per 100g, 0.0g PUFA
- Sweet Potato: 14% vitamin E per 2 medium sweet potatoes, 0.3g PUFA
- Cooked spinach: 14% vitamin E per 100g, 0.1g PUFA
- Cooked turnip greens: 13% vitamin E per 100g, 0.1g PUFA
- Cooked swiss chard: 13% vitamin E per 100g, 0.0g PUFA
- Shrimp: 9% vitamin E per 10 large shrimp, 0.4g PUFA
- Prawns: 11% vitamin E per 400g, 0.3g PUFA
- Crab Leg or Claw: 25% vitamin E per 200g, 0.5g PUFA
- Cooked clams: 15% vitamin E per 200g, 0.6g PUFA
- Papaya: 13% vitamin E per 2 medium papayas, 0.4g PUFA
- Cranberries: 9% vitamin E per 100g, 0.1g PUFA
- Cranberry Juice: 51% vitamin E per 20 fl oz, 0.4g PUFA
- Blackberries: 10% vitamin E per 100g, 0.3g PUFA
- Apples: 10% vitamin E per 4 medium apples, 0.4g PUFA
- Pears: 10% vitamin E per 4 medium pears, 0.7g PUFA
- Peaches: 14% vitamin E per 2 medium peaches, 0.3g PUFA
- Nectarines: 13% vitamin E per 2 medium nectarines, 0.3g PUFA
- Dried Apricots: 29% vitamin E per 100g, 0.1g PUFA
- Green Kiwi: 9% vitamin E per 100g, 0.3g PUFA
- Sungold Kiwi: 9% vitamin E per 100g, 0.1g PUFA
- ACAI BERRIES: 99% vitamin E per 100g, 0.7g PUFA
- COOKED ABALONE: 74% vitamin E per cup, 0.1g PUFA
The last two are such obscure food sources, that I would be skeptical of the accuracy of their nutritional content. We need someone trustworthy to study these foods, especially acai berries. If acai berries are truly so low PUFA and high vitamin E, they would be a very effective way to get whole food vitamin E. 60 cals of acai berries, according to this data, is literally 100% of the vitamin E RDA. If anyone is interested in testing this themselves, with 100g of acai berries, powder, or puree, you might be able to test it here:
https://foodlabelpro.com/services/#:~:text=FDA%20Compliant%20Nutrition%20Facts%20Panel%3A%20%24150%20per%20product,based%20on%20your%20package%20size Also, I don't want to type them all, but cooked leafy greens are generally all high in vitamin E and low in PUFA. I included a few in my contributions.
Finally, I don't know if this is true, but I also read on a reddit post that dairy fat and ruminant animal fat can be high in vitamin E when they're raised properly and fed high vitamin E foliage, and apparently you can tell by how golden their fat is. Apparently, high vitamin E (and A) dairy or ruminant animal fat should have a golden & amber color to it.
u/acivilizedman sent me this article, which says grass-fed butter has 0.4mg per 0.93 tbsp of butter:
https://ketologic.com/blogs/articles/grass-fed-butter. He said that grass-fed milk has about 50% more vitamin E than regular milk, but it's still relatively low. If he remembers correctly, 8 cups of grass-fed milk is about 2.1mg vitamin E (only 14% of the RDA).
If you want to supplement,
u/acivilizedman recommends TocoVit from IdeaLabs. They extract the vitamin E from wheat germ oil. Apparently, with a standard dose (about 100mg), it lasts 250 days.

2024.05.10 17:37 PlateEducational9677 Zoologist Sample Reviews from an Absolute Fragrance Noob
For some background, I'm an early-20s male. Past experience with fragrances includes:
- $10-15 TJMaxx colognes
- A travel size of "Most Wanted", as picked by my girlfriend.
- One time I sprayed "The Smell of Weather Turning" in a Lush (too expensive for me) and I became obsessed with it. Couldn't find it for cheap, so decided to begin hunting around for other fragrances.
Zoologist stood out as "weird" (and, apparently, so is TSoWT) so I ordered a few samples. Here are my thoughts as a rank beginner who has only read about these notes. So far, only tested on paper. Will update after I try on skin. Also, I am typing these out in the order I try them, which is kind of the order I was most excited to test them.
#1 - Sloth - 8/10 This one I was the most excited for, seeing as that it shared some notes with TSoWT. I really like it. It does smell fruity and jungly, and upon initial spray had a bit of a rubbery smell that dries away quickly. Smells kind of boozy at first, too, but in a good way. Like an expensive, well-spiced rum. I think the fruit I get must be the Acai berry. I don't get the cumin, which I was worried about. Lots of herbs, and the acai stays front and center for a while. I really dig it. It really does give off this "damp" vibe, I really dont know how to describe it but it's interesting.
Update +7hrs: Sloth still smells really nice on me, not super intense (I used 2 sprays) and still acai-forward on me. Still very damp. Its really nice and I'll be wearing it out tonight. I get a whisper of cumin but it doesn't present as BO on me, and it isn't very noticeable either. I think it adds a nice spice character, and it is very subtle. Hay is definitely present, as is a hint of vanilla and a pretty solid helping of lavender.
#2 - Camel - 7.5/10 On spray, I get red wine. Fruity red wine, like a Port (can you tell I was a bartender?) . Dries quickly to an incense smell, like I'm in the local East Meets West. It quickly becomes hard to smell, even on the paper. Maybe my nose is tired, or maybe this is what everone was talking about with Camel's less-than-stellar performance. I really like the incense and spice notes here, and that fine ruby port has transformed into dried fruits. I also really like this one, and see it being good for the fall and winter.
#3 - Dodo Jackfruit - 8/10 Smells like aftershave, but there is this really nice juicyfruit gum smell which must be the Jackfruit. Right upon spray it definitely gives off more fruit and spice. I really really like this one surprisingly. Initially I found it boring, but it has something in there that really just makes me want to keep smelling it. I feel like this one also dies down quickly, like camel.
#4 - Koala - 7/10 On start, lots and lots of eucalyptus. I also get the pine very strongly, as well as a lemony-grapefruit citrus. The citrus fades to the background, but definitely stays a while. Smells like these gin-and-tonic gummy bears I had once. It gives off a cooling feeling to the nose, which is very refreshing. I could see this being a great summer scent. I also like this a lot but maybe the least so far, it is a bit uninteresting to me.
#5 - Northern Cardinal - 4/10 It's nice and masculine. It smells brisk and forest-y. It does smell like greenery, and then like flowers. It also reminds me of my dentist's office for some reason. Like a plug-in febreeze smell. It isn't bad, and it would do well in the winter. I lied before, this is my least favorite, but it is still perfectly wearable and nice.
Some other notes:
- I don't see why these are so polarizing. I definitely picked some of the more "safe" options from what I read, so my next pickup will be some more upsetting and challenging fragrances. I think I need to try Hyrax to really get what can make a fragrance off-putting. None of these really put me off. They all smell really nice and I would wear all of them, and I'm going to clear out my samples of these eventually. That said, I probably need to develop my nose more. I think to the average joe, these will all smell yummy.
At some point when we get so into a topic, we forget what it was like to start off. As a gymrat, I can tell you for certain that before I started I would have seen my current self as muscular, but now I will point out problems in Chris Evans' physique. Something to keep in mind if you are well versed in this topic.
- My experience with Ministry of Scent was overall good. They took a while to ship (4 days from ordering), but I looked around quite a bit and they do the largest sample sizes for the money, I think. Good value. That said, the sprayers are awfully hard to use and need a lot of force to get a good spray. I just weakly streamed Sloth all over my wrist by accident because I didn't full send the sprayer. God help my hair stylist.
Any questions, just ask away. I just used Sloth on my skin so I will update as the day goes on. Also, I will update as I try these other scents on skin.

2024.05.08 05:43 harshaljaiswal27 Chocolate Confectionery Market Size, Share and Demand Forecast
The global
chocolate confectionery market size is projected to reach USD 136.42 billion by 2027, exhibiting a CAGR of 2.3% during the forecast period. Widespread awareness regarding the potential health benefits of chocolate is expected to play a central role in driving the growth of this market, states Fortune Business Insights⢠in its report, titled â
Chocolate Confectionery Market Size, Share & Industry Analysis, By Type (Dark, Milk, and White), Category (Premium, Seasonal, and Everyday), and Regional Forecast, 2020-2027â.
Information Source - https://www.fortunebusinessinsights.com/industry-reports/chocolate-confectionery-market-100539 The health benefits associated with chocolate products, particularly dark chocolate, are driving their popularity worldwide. Dark chocolate and cocoa are rich in flavanols, polyphenols, and antioxidants, surpassing even acai berries and blueberries in their nutritional value. Additionally, dark chocolate contains significant amounts of iron, copper, fiber, and various other essential nutrients. Studies, such as those conducted by the National Institutes of Health, have shown that consuming dark chocolate can effectively regulate blood pressure by activating the arterial lining, thus improving blood flow and reducing the risk of heart disorders. These health advantages are fueling the increasing consumption of dark chocolate and contributing to the growth of the global market.
The report states that the global market value stood at USD 114.33 billion in 2019 and shares the following:
- Thorough analysis of the short-term and long-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the market;
- Actionable insights into the upcoming opportunities in the market;
- Tangible research into the market, drivers, restraints, and segments; and
- In-depth examination of the regional developments, competitive landscape, and upcoming investment pockets for the market.
Market Restraints Shrinking Sales amid COVID-19 Pandemic to Stall Market Growth The chocolate confectionery market has faced significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lockdowns and social distancing measures have limited consumer mobility and led to the temporary closure of retail outlets, impacting chocolate sales. Additionally, the global economic downturn has resulted in job losses and reduced disposable income, leading to decreased spending on non-essential items like chocolate. Major players in the industry, such as The Hershey Company and Lindt & Spruengli, have reported declines in sales due to these factors. For instance, The Hershey Company experienced an 8.1% decrease in international net sales, while Lindt & Spruengli reported a decline in organic sales by 5-7% due to store closures caused by the pandemic.
Regional Insights North America to Have Dominating Lead in the Market Backed by High Demand for Premium Chocolates North America, with a market size of USD 19.50 billion in 2019, is poised to maintain its lead in the chocolate confectionery market share, driven by robust demand for premium chocolate snacks and products. However, in the US, which recorded a market volume of 1,410.20 thousand tons in 2019, growth prospects may be constrained by growing resistance to high-sugar chocolate confectioneries and a rising preference for low-sugar alternatives.
In Europe, chocolate items play a central role in regional festivals, bolstering market growth. Meanwhile, in Asia-Pacific, increasing disposable income is driving up per capita consumption of chocolate products. The region's large proportion of young consumers and evolving taste preferences are significant factors influencing market growth.
Competitive Landscape Heavy Investments in R&D by Key Players to Create Healthy Competitive Atmosphere The market for chocolate confectioneries is characterized by a healthy competitive climate as top companies are directing their energies towards elevating their R&D capabilities. Moreover, some players in this market are also engaging in efforts towards establishing sustainable agriculture practices in key cocoa producing regions.
Industry Developments: - July 2020: Mars, Incorporated announced its collaboration with World Agroforestry and the International Fund for Agricultural Development to initiate a 5-year-long research project called Sustainable Farming in Tropical Asian Landscapes. The project will be directed towards sustainably connecting small-scale cocoa and palm oil producers in Indonesia and the Philippines to global supply chains.
- October 2019: India-based ITC Limited released the worldâs most expensive chocolate under its Fabelle brand. Priced at INR 4.3lakh per kilogram, the limited edition luxury chocolate dubbed âTrinity â Truffles Extraordinaireâ entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as the worldâs costliest chocolate product.
List of Key Players Covered in the Chocolate Confectionery Market Report: - Mars Inc. (Virginia, U.S.)

2024.05.07 06:57 Spiritual_gal Just wondering, but what are the most common berry allergies?
Honestly, if anyone knows, I would like to be informed of what the most common berry allergies are?
Basically, I learned that I'm allergic to acai berries almost 8 yrs. ago. I wanted to know what the hype abt. acai bowls was back then having 0 clue about the potential allergy. I ate half the bowl, and both my arms got so itchy that they started to turn bright pink. About 5 yrs. or so after that not realizing there is prob. different medicine for outdoor and food allergies, I decided to try food w/acai in it-again, the same thing happened. My arms got super itchy.
I am allergic to tree pollen, and I learned there is a connection with acai berries and the trees they grow on. Except I am fine eating strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. I'm also fine with apples. Idk about blackberries, but I never really liked them from the start. Basically, late last week, I took something and it did have my allergen in it possibly, but I took such a miniscule amt. of it that I didn't think anything of it b/c my allergic reactions are usually very mild. Idk if it's possible to have a 3-4 day delayed allergic reaction or not.? Because now my throat isn't feeling all that great so idk if it's possible that it's hay fever or something else and even though my allergies vary every year, I normally don't get hay fever, unless this year is particularly bad for allergies.
Anyways, for anyone who knows, what are the other most common berries that one can be allergic to? I also learned that bananas are classified as a berry which I can also do and am not allergic to. But I've never tried Elderberry, Mulberry or any other types of berries similar to those ones, so is it possible I could be allergic to more than 1 berry without knowing it?

How does Ikaria Juice Work?
Ikaria Lean Belly Juice is a one-of-a-kind nutritional supplement developed to aid efficient weight loss in frequent consumers. The supplement's recipe is based on a recent scientific breakthrough that pinpoints the fundamental cause of weight gain. According to this study, if you are having trouble losing weight, you should detoxify your body from within.
According to this study, the bodies of obese persons contain hazardous lipid molecules known as ceramides. These poisonous substances force your body's fat cells to enter the bloodstream after each meal. Ceramides infect your circulation, causing fat to collect around important organs such as the liver, heart, and pancreas.
This fat prevents key organs from completing their tasks properly. As a result, your metabolism suffers and body fat oxidation comes to a halt. This causes more fat to accumulate in your body, and you become trapped in a cycle.
The
Ikaria Juice weight reduction supplement's recipe was created to breakdown these ceramides and keep them from entering the bloodstream. It prevents the production of fat deposits around key organs and boosts your metabolism, allowing you to maintain a healthy body weight.
With the help of natural nutrients such as African mango extract, milk thistle, citrus pectin, Bioperine, and others found in the Ikaria Lean Belly Juice supplement. You obtain a good amount of nutrients and can stick to a balanced diet on a regular basis. This eliminates the need to adhere to fad diets that result in undesirable weight reduction.

Here is a list of major Ikaria Juice ingredients - Citrus Pectin
- Milk Thistle
- Black Currants
- EGCG
- Beetroot
- Blueberries
- Hibiscus
- Taraxacum
- Beetroot
- Acai Berries
1
Citrus Pectin:
Citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes, tangerines, and pomelos contain pectin, a kind of soluble dietary fiber. Citrus pectins are polysaccharides made up of long galacturonic acid chains connected by alpha-1,4 glycosidic linkages. With the regular use of Ikaria Juice, those who consume foods high in pectin tend to weigh less than those who do not. According to a review of studies completed between 1990 and 2005, pectin helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Pectin has also been proven to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood glucose levels. The American Diabetes Association recommended that you consume 25 grams of pectin per day.
2
Milk Thistle:
Ikaria Lean Belly Juice can be used by anyone. This flowering plant is endemic to Europe and Asia. Silymarin, found in milk thistle, is used to treat liver disorders. Silymarin functions by shielding healthy liver cells from contaminants. Milk thistles may help protect against certain types of cancer, according to research. For six weeks, researchers provided either a placebo or 200 mg of milk thistle twice a day to overweight persons with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). They discovered that those who took milk thistle had dramatically improved liver enzymes and had smaller lipid deposits.

Black Currants:
The black currant is a tiny fruit that is mostly grown in Eastern Europe and North America. Black currant contains a lot of antioxidants and flavonoids. According to the team of experts who created Ikaria Juice, These substances aid in the prevention of free radical damage to your body. Free radicals are unstable chemicals that can be harmful to your health. These dangerous free radicals are neutralized by antioxidants. According to a study published in the journal Nutrients, black currant extract enhanced energy expenditure while decreasing fat storage in mice. Mice were given a control diet or one with 0.5% black currant extract. Those who received the black currant extract burnt up to 30% more calories than those who received the control diet.
4
EGCG:
In this Ikaria Lean Belly Juice review, Green tea is prepared from the Camellia sinensis plant's leaves. Green tea has caffeine, but nowhere near as much as coffee. It also has vitamins C and K, magnesium, calcium, manganese, copper, iron, zinc, selenium, and potassium. Green tea catechin antioxidant epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has been found to increase metabolism and burn fat. In brown adipose tissue, EGCG enhances thermogenesis, or heat generation. Because of this effect, it is beneficial for weight loss.
5
Beetroot:
As Lean Belly Juice products are in high demand, beets have been utilized medicinally. Betain is a pigment that gives beets their red color. Betalains are extremely potent antioxidants. According to a study published online in the British Medical Journal, beet juice assisted obese women in losing weight faster than a placebo drink. For 12 weeks, women were advised to drink either 250 mL of beet juice or a placebo beverage three times a day. At the end of the trial, those who consumed beet juice lost an average of 5 kg, whereas those who received a placebo dropped only 2.3 kg.
6
Blueberries:
Blueberries include anthocyanins, which are potent antioxidants that may aid with weight loss. Anthocyanins have been demonstrated to enhance metabolism and burn fat. In one trial, participants ate two meals per day, one of which consisted of blueberry juice and the other of water. Over the course of eight weeks, the blueberry juice group lost an average of two pounds, while the water group gained one.
7
Hibiscus:
Hibiscus tea is produced from the leaves of Hibiscus sabdariffa, a tropical African and South American shrub. It is well-known for its antioxidant effects and anti-inflammatory capabilities. In one study, hibiscus tea was compared to green tea in the treatment of obese women. For 12 weeks, women were randomly allocated to drink 4 cups of either hibiscus tea or green tea per day. Both groups had similar waist circumference reductions after 12 weeks. Women who drank hibiscus tea, on the other hand, saw higher improvements in HDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
8
Taraxacum:
Taraxacum is a plant genus that includes dandelions. There are several reasons for Ikaria Juice, Dandelion root is a frequent diuretic and laxative. It also contains a lot of fiber and vitamin C.In one study, overweight men and women who ingested 3 tablespoons of dried taraxacum root three times a day for 14 days experienced significant reductions in total and LDL cholesterol.
9
Beetroot:
The beet family includes beets. Beets are high in nitrates, which boost blood flow to muscles and help you burn more calories while exercising. In one McMaster University study, participants who took beet supplements dropped almost half a pound more than those who did not. This shows that beets may assist you in losing weight.
10
Acai Berries:
Ikaria Juice is an all-natural, Acai berries are harvested from acai palm plants in Brazil. They're high in antioxidants and polyphenols, which protect cells from oxidative damage. One study of overweight persons found that those who supplemented their diets with acai berry powder lost twice as much weight as those who did not.. These blends are manufactured from natural components and provide a total metabolic makeover. Here are some of the Ikaria Lean Belly Juice formula's ingredients.
Here is a list of major Ikaria Juice ingredients - Citrus Pectin
- Milk Thistle
- Black Currants
- EGCG
- Beetroot
- Blueberries
- Hibiscus
- Taraxacum

2024.05.02 16:25 NotAUsefullDoctor An acolyte in need of a patron deity
/ul Realized that my original character does not play well with others, and thus has extreme limits in this type of forum. And so, I am using another OC from one of my RPs. This one is both more open to interaction and more open to whimsy
/l
"I kneel before you, oh faceless deity," Sariel pleaded, prostate in front of the altar. "I seek your power that I may prove myself, that I may ascend to rank of sorcerer. Lend me this power, and I shall proselytize you to the ends of the world."
The altar she knelt at was not the altar of the temple. Only full fledged sorcerers, and those acolytes who had been deemed worthy by the priesthood, could kneel at that altar. Nor was this the altar of the sanctuary, where all congregants from the surrounding village could worship, as she would be mocked relentlessly by her peers if she attempted. No, this was but a simple cairn she had built in her chambers, and kept hidden behind a straw mat in a hole in the wall, lest the monks find it and destroy it like her past ones.
"I swear I shall spread justice, as seen in your eyes, and bring mercy to all as you command."
Unlike the altars of Biel'roth, which were covered in the blood of doves, and the ashes of rams fat, this altar was smeared with the juice of sweet berries, the oils of mint leaves, and the ashes of soothing incense. Sariel had never seen able to fit the justification of slaughter for the purpose of appeasing a deity. She questioned why any sufficiently powerful deity should want to see more death or suffering in a world over which they had dominion.
"I shall deny self in pursuit of a higher cause. Please hear me and respond."
She knew the words she spoke were not entirely true, as the "higher" cause was her own advancement. But, she held faith that if she would be granted these powers, the deity would help to transform her mind, and die to her old self, becoming something new. Besides, she wasn't a particular fan of who she was to start with, and any change was good.
So, uh, any deities, looking to become patrons, in need of a representative in the corporeal plane?
