2024.05.11 22:04 movalca Moerno Valley Sierra Group wins Court case against warehouse developer and the City

Moreno Valley, Calif. — A Riverside County Superior Court judge sided with Sierra Club and the California Attorney General’s Office on Monday by ruling that the City of Moreno Valley violated environmental law when it approved its “MoVal 2040” General Plan. The plan called for significant growth in industrial, commercial and residential development through 2040, but lacked meaningful mitigation to reduce harmful impacts from that growth, including from placing industrial development adjacent to residents’ homes.
The court found multiple deficiencies in the City's Environmental Impact Report (EIR) regarding the project's effects on air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, energy use and public health impacts on vulnerable residents. The Court also rejected the City’s Climate Action Plan, which can now not be used to streamline future projects’ greenhouse gas impacts analysis.
“Moreno Valley's residents deserve transparency about the real environmental impacts of the City's growth plans,” said George Hague Conservation Chair of the Moreno Valley Group of the Sierra Club "This is a huge win. The City now must go back and conduct a legitimate review of this project's pollution and health hazards before moving forward."
The main deficiencies cited by the court include: · Failure to properly measure air quality impacts against existing conditions · Lack of analysis of the project's effects on vulnerable populations like children and seniors · Insufficient evidence to dismiss the plan's significant increases in greenhouse gas emissions · Inadequate mitigation measures to address environmental harm · Failure to properly analyze and mitigate the project’s wasteful energy use
The Sierra Club originally filed suit in July 2021, alleging the City rushed to approve the MoVal 2040 plan and its environmental review without adequately addressing public concerns over air pollution, harmful emissions from industrial projects and other environmental impacts to residential neighborhoods like the City’s Edgemont community.
The court ordered the city to set aside all project approvals related to the MoVal 2040 plan until it corrects the deficiencies identified in the ruling.
"We welcome working with the city to get this right," George Hague said. "The goal is a General Plan for Moreno Valley's future that grows the economy while protecting residents' health and natural resources."
The Sierra Club is represented in this lawsuit by Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger.

MIRACLE FOUNDATION SD: beware!!
This is my personal experience with the San Diego based dog rescue, MIRACLE FOUNDATION SD. Everything is strictly fact and there is documentation to back it up. If you are or have had an experience with this group, please read on, and BEWARE!
Late 2023- My daughter sees a post on Facebook about 20 Doodles in Maricopa County, Arizona, that are about to head to a high kill shelter. These are not typical social media star golden doodles. These are feral, fearful, not used to human touch doodles. My daughter reaches out to the rescue and immediately volunteers the 3 of us- daughter, sister and myself are up for the challenge. My sister and I agree to temporarily foster 1 dog each. We both have senior female dogs, and it would be stressful on them. It’s happening! 8 dogs will be transported from Arizona to San Diego.
December 29-31, 2023- Fundraising begins! I made a paypal donation to the doodle rescue mission. I promote it and my family and friends donate. Some write checks and mail to the PO Box. I promise the fundraiser. We are off to pick up supplies in Orange County, Calif. donated by Spoof Dogs. Stephani, the rescue organizer gave my daughter a list of supplies we would need for the 8 dogs. 8 of everything: 8 water bowls, 8 leashes, 8 food bowls, collars, bags of food. We piled the truck to the rim and headed the 100+ miles back home with the goods.
January 1, 2024 - May The dogs arrive. The horror! A man pulls up in a suburban type truck and unloads a handful of dog crates. Many are small and have 2 dogs shoved in them. They are all covered in urine and feces. I have never seen a stiff dog before. Stephani requests everyone takes 2 so they will adjust better. Ok, but remember, this is temporary? We are reassured as we each take 2.
I started with fostering Bruno and Butters. Butters was more social than the rest of the dogs. He had a haircut, so he was obviously handled. Bruno was completely feral. Not 1 person could touch him. I had a special place in my heart for Bruno, as he was the first one handed to me out of the truck, stiff with fear. I wanted so badly to help this boy.
Butters was adorable and we loved him, but he had an issue that I continued to report to Stephani about constant urinating. I am not talking not housebroken, I am speaking about this poor guy emptying his urine 4x per hour. A full bladder of clear liquid, 4x/hour. She basically kept pacifying me until finally I requested to swap him out with a dog my sister was fostering, because I was literally mopping all day. So, here comes Murphy!
Meanwhile, the dogs are sick! They all have severe water diahrrea. I notice Bruno’s ears smell awful. I ask if I can use some ear drops I have here for my dog. Approved. Multiple failed attempts by Stephani to control the diarrhea. She kept bringing over pills and powders that were not in their original packages. Some old prescription bottles with labels tore off. I trust her. She wants to help dogs.
It is then discovered that all of the dogs in the group not only have diarrhea, but also have ear mites, and it has been passed to my senior dog. Lovely. She does provide us with the ear mite medication, Bravecto?
Time goes on, sometimes weeks would pass without as much a a check in from her. On the occasions she dropped off supplies or probiotics for the digestive issues, we would talk. She mentioned how the rescue was $30k in debt from a litter of Parvo puppies that they took in. Red flag #1? Nah! I ask for poop bags. At this point, I am going through them like crazy. She brings me a wadded up handful from her truck. Never got any again. Communication is and has been off with Stephani. Sometimes she’s nice. Oftentimes she throws jabs. Interestingly coming from someone who should be so grateful to us. We don’t want to rock the boat, so we keep quiet and really just focus on the dogs. We ignore some of the stories that don’t match up. Luckily everything was text message.
A few of the dogs from this group get adopted and then returned. And then adopted and returned. No one seems to click with them. Bruno is allowing me to touch him. We play. Murphy gets adopted by a cute family with 2 very small children. It’s just me and bruno now and I get the chance to really focus on him. I am still fighting diarrhea with him. I tell Stephani I am taking him to the vet. Vet prescribes medication, if it doesn’t work, he will need to be on a special prescription diet. He needs the diet. Purina HA is approx $130 for a 25 lb bag. He eats 1bag/month.
All during this time, my daughter and her fiancé are growing attached to Shiloh, who they are now left fostering. They let Stephani know right away they want to proceed. They ask to apply and ask what his adoption fee is. They are informed that the rescue would have denied them if they had applied, but they would definitely be considered for Shiloh.
Bruno starts marking everywhere. I ask about getting them neutered. Was informed their vet recommend they wait so their testosterone come in. She offers belly bands. Belly bands for a dog I can barely handle. Oh yeah, she had told us she was a Dog Behaviorist. In 5 months, never once- not one time did she come to work with Bruno. Belly Bands did not work. She finally got them to me a week after I asked and I asked yet again. Then she gave me used ones.
May 7, 2024- Finally after 5 plus months and now many of the other dogs have been adopted (we hope to forever homes), she approaches my daughter and her fiancé to adopt Shiloh. He had a recent foxtail incident in his paw, and the rescue did take him and pay for removal. However, now he is costing them, so they are asking a $1000 adoption fee. She also states that they are no longer of use to the organization since she will no longer be fostering, so she is of no use tot he rescue anymore and they ‘need the money”. This would absolutely be a reasonable ask for a rescue dog adoption- that had shots, been neutered, been microchipped, wasn’t feral, wasn’t ever going to be a “normal” dog. Kind of how she stated when this all started. My daughter asked if they would consider $650, considering all she/we have done for the rescue/the dogs. It was shot down. No compromise. Stephani mentioned how much money they had spent on these dogs.
That’s when I got to thinking… how much did they spend on these dogs? Where is the money? I have been digging and cannot come up with anything. If anyone knows anything, has a similar story, join the group! I am still truing to get access to their financials. What I found online is they have not filed last year and were revoked. I will post proof to all of this, as well as an article of a former incident a few years ago. I questioned them, they refused to provide, I lost my shit and hung up after telling them to come and get Bruno. I was done. I could tell where this was going. They were in a sense holding us hostage to pay $1000 for Shiloh, when the other dogs were sold for less. Felt as if it were extortion. I sent Stephani a text trying to see if we could come to an agreement. She said she was bringing a board menber named Desiree on the line. Great! I am hoping I can get some answers. Desiree will not let me speak. I have valid questions. They tell me they STILL have not gotten the fundraiser money. Huh? then they change the subject, cut me off and talk about needing to get them adopted and neutered immediately because now they are. costing the rescue money. Meanwhile, we know the only female from the rescue had just had tumors removed. I yelled to come get Bruno and hung up. I had had it! This felt awful. I was used. They were assholes for taking advantage of caring, vulnerable people.
Stephani shows up to my daughters house, unannounced, asking to take Shiloh, as they were taking both to get neutered and would be ready for pick up at 7pm form the vet. I knew. My heart sunk. Shiloh would never return. She then shows ups at my house, an hour after I asked her to be there and my emotions are hot. Desiree is on her cell. I yell over the phone to Desiree to please call me. I fell money is being misused. I scram out my phone number in hopes she will call. She does not call.
Shiloh is listed on Petfinder now as Pedro. We gave a petition to get him back.
In the end, our intention was to save these dogs. They came from a horrible situation. Shame on this “rescue”. Never again!

Men are currently ranked 7th, the Women are 18th. Senior Johnnie Blockburger is having a phenomenal year and the Men's 4x100 team has the 5th fastest time in the country this season.

- The three-time defending NCAA champion USC beach volleyball team (33-5) earned the top seed among 17 teams competing in the 2024 NCAA Championship and will face either Atlantic Sun champion North Florida (24-11) or Ohio Valley champion Chattanooga (19-9) in the round of 16. The Women of Troy are scheduled to play in the round of 16 this coming Friday, May 3rd, at 11 a.m. CT (9 a.m. PT). All opening- and first-round matches are scheduled to be shown live on ESPNU. Quarterfinals and semifinals (May 4) will be carried live by ESPN2. The championship dual is scheduled for 10 a.m. CT on Sunday (May 5) and will also be shown live on ESPN2. (I think the rules changed this year and it is now single-elimination as opposed to having a loser bracket)

I won't bother with baseball, lol.

2024.05.01 22:15 SteefenTurtle 3 Month USA West Coast Nature Roadtrip Advice

https://preview.redd.it/q4g7962gfvxc1.png?width=1270&format=png&auto=webp&s=589874ba9267d37b028fff5cd3f0dbdd13ffebfd
Hi there! I'm looking for advice on my 3-month nature-first USA West Coast roadtrip. The trip will be from September-November and I'm traveling from north (Seattle) to south (LA). This way, I hope to still catch some good weather in each of the places I pass through as I move south.
As mentioned, my goal is to be outdoors as much as possible, hiking and climbing, traveling in a campervan. I'm looking to visit the most beautiful natural spots along the west coast. I'd like to do dayhikes, but also the occasional multi-day hike. I'm not super into desert-like environements, I prefer mountains and forests! I'd also like to visit the occasional city, but they're not a priority.
I'd like to get advice on:
  1. Whether 3 months is likely enough time for this trip, given my preference for slower-ish travel (not just being on the move all the time).
  2. Whether the weather will likely be OK for non-snow-related outdoor activities during the months I visit each place (Starting sept. in Seattle, ending late nov. in LA).
  3. Your recommendations for spots I MUST visit / recommendations for route alterations.
Thanks!!

2024.04.30 04:46 iaintgotnomonies Raiders: UDFA signings (Dane Brugler: THE BEAST 2024)

QB15. CARTER BRADLEY South Alabama 6031 213 lbs. 6SR Jacksonville, Fla. (Providence) 3/9/2000 (age 24.13)
SUMMARY: A two-year starter at South Alabama, Bradley had things click after transferring to coach Major Applewhite’s version of the Air Raid. Despite spending only two seasons with the program, he made his mark by setting more than a dozen South Alabama records, including touchdown passes in a game (four), season (28) and career (47). A rhythm-based passer, Bradley keeps his eyes up and his feet active to scan and deliver with quality decision-making. However, he isn’t much of a creator when things fall apart, and mechanical inconsistencies and accuracy issues downfield will likely follow him to the next level. Overall, Bradley has NFL pedigree with the base traits needed for the pro game, but his tape is wildly inconsistent, as he looks like an NFL starter on some throws and a JV passer on others. He will get a chance once in camp.
GRADE: Priority Free Agent
WR35. TULU GRIFFIN Mississippi St. 5100 181 lbs. 4SR Philadelphia, Miss. (Philadelphia) 1/23/2001 (age 23.26)
SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Mississippi State, Griffin was the H (slot) receiver in former offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay’s scheme with 90.6 percent of his 2023 snaps coming inside (although, he was primarily an outside receiver as an underclassman). He finished his college career with only one career 100-yard receiving performance, but he made it count (a school-record 256 yards vs. South Carolina in 2023), and he led the Bulldogs in receiving as a senior. Griffin, who received his “Tulu” nickname growing up because he was “too loose” in sports, is a speedy athlete and can get coverage leaning or create plays as a return man (his career 30.4 kick-return average is second best in SEC history). Mostly an underneath receiver (80 percent of his catches in 2023 came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage), he has a smaller catch radius and is just as likely to have a frustrating drop as he is to make a difficult grab away from his body. Overall, Griffin lacks polish as a route runner, but he can be dangerous with the ball in his hands, and his return talent is a strong selling point. He projects as a bottom-of-the-roster receiver or a practice-squad candidate with return upside.
GRADE: 7th Round
WR50. RAMEL KEYTON Tennessee 6023 191 lbs. 5SR Marietta, Ga. (Marietta) 9/14/2000 (age 23.61)
SUMMARY: Ramel Keyton grew up in Marietta and prepped at Marietta High. He finished his career with 184 catches for 3,353 yards and 33 touchdowns. A four-star recruit, he was a top-15 receiver in the class and committed to Tennessee over Alabama, Georgia and others. He produced career bests in 2023 (18.3 yards per catch ranked third in the SEC). Keyton is a long, lithe athlete who sells double moves well and does a nice job with hesitation on his vertical stems. He is a legitimate deepball threat but runs hot and cold tracking the ball and appears awkward at times making adjustments (especially in crowded catch points). Overall, Keyton is a “flash” receiver with the acceleration to be a weapon, but he lacks polish in the quick game and didn’t play a ton on special teams, which could limit his landing spots.
GRADE: Priority Free Agent
OT25. ANDREW COKER TCU 6067 315 lbs. 5SR Katy, Texas (James E. Taylor) 3/23/2001 (age 23.09)
SUMMARY: A four-year starter at TCU, Coker was a mainstay at right tackle in offensive coordinator Kendal Briles’ zone-based scheme. He was predominantly a right tackle in high school and his first four seasons in Fort Worth before starting the first five games of 2023 at left tackle because of injuries (he returned to right tackle for the second half of the season). Coker is alert and active in pass protection, and his hand strikes are punctual and pierc ing, which helps him stay between the defender and the football. However, his feet are heavy, and his poor redirect and recovery makes it tough for him to sustain blocks, often leaving him overextended and compromised. Overall, Coker is an experienced, wide-bodied blocker with the base fundamentals and toughness to survive in the NFL, but his margin of error will be very small against NFL speed and power. He projects as a depth piece at both tackle and guard.
GRADE: 7th Round-Priority Free Agent
DE32. RON STONE JR. Washington State 6031 247 lbs. 6SR San Jose, Calif. (Valley Christian) 5/26/2000 (age 23.91)
SUMMARY: Ron Stone Jr. grew up in a football family. His father (Ron) was a fourth-round pick (No. 96) in the 1993 NFL Draft and won two Super Bowls at guard with the Dallas Cowboys. His two older sisters (Ronna and Ronika) were college athletes at Oregon. Stonewas an All-League pass rusher as a senior at Valley Christian. A three-star recruit, he had multiple Pac-12 offers and signed with Washington State. He earned All-Pac-12 honors in each of his final three seasons. Stone is undersized and can get out of control in his attack, but multiple offensive linemen have said he was their toughest opponent, because of his violent hands and ability to work in different moves. He is relentless versus the run and tackles like he is in a bad mood. He projects as a SAM backer, although he is unproven in reverse. Overall, Stone is missing a distinguishing trait that will separate him on an NFL depth chart, but he has a worker-bee attitude and will make it tough for a coach to cut him.
GRADE: Priority Free Agent
CB43. JA’QUAN SHEPPARD Maryland 6016 199 lbs. 5SR Zephyrhills, Fla. (Zephyrhills) 4/12/2001 (age 23.04)
SUMMARY: Ja’Quan Sheppard started playing football as an eighth grader in Zephyrhills. He moved to wide receiver in high school (30 catches as a senior), while also playing defensive back (four interceptions). A three-star recruit, he committed to Cincinnati over Kentucky and moved to defense. He had his breakout showing in 2022, leading the team in passes defended, and he entered the portal after Luke Fickell left Cincinnati for Wisconsin. Sheppard transferred to Maryland, where he earned All-Big Ten honors in 2023. He is a good-sized athlete who can jam and make receivers feel uncomfortable, early or late in the rep. He is quick-footed, although he does labor a bit when opening up, and his taller pad level can create a brief delay. He plays through hands well but also didn’t have an interception in college. Overall, Sheppard needs to better balance his aggression with added discipline, but his coverage mentality and back-end versatility should translate well.
GRADE: Priority Free Agent

2024.04.18 07:54 DryCryptographer7227 What’s in a name?

John Phillips: Oakland International Airport of Anywhere but Oakland John Phillips PUBLISHED: April 17, 2024 at 6:17 p.m. UPDATED: April 17, 2024 at 6:17 p.m. Categories:Opinion
FILE – Travelers prepare to enter Oakland International airport Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, in Oakland, Calif. Oakland’s airport is considering a name-change to include “San Francisco” to attract more passengers but San Francisco officials are slamming the move, saying it will confuse travelers since there is already a San Francisco International Airport. The Board of Commissioners for the Port of Oakland took up the question at its meeting on Thursday, April 11, 2024. (AP Photo/Ben Margot, File) The Port of Oakland’s Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to change the name of Oakland International Airport to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport during a meeting last week.
Personally, I was hoping they’d rename the airport after Oakland’s most beloved son, but they just couldn’t get any traction behind MC Hammer International.
In a statement, Port Commission President Barbara Leslie wrote: “We are standing up for Oakland and the East Bay…This will boost inbound travelers’ geographic awareness of the airport by highlighting the airport’s location on the San Francisco Bay. This name will make it clear that OAK is the closest major airport, for 4.1 million people, three national laboratories, the top public university in the country, and California’s Wine Country.”
In the same statement, Port of Oakland Executive Director Danny Wan added that, “I’m very pleased with today’s unanimous Board approval, especially as a proud Oaklander myself who wants to enhance economic activity and local jobs for Oakland. We are grateful for the ongoing support of the East Bay business community, along with our trade and travel partners representing Oakland, Berkeley, Walnut Creek, and the Tri-Valley as well as the thousands of businesses that they represent. These companies know that having more choices and flight options are good for the entire Bay Area.”
What an inane press release.
“Honey, what airport should we fly out of?”
“I don’t know, which one is closest to at least three major laboratories?”
This explanation is pure fantasy. People aren’t avoiding Oakland International Airport because of a lack of association with the rest of Northern California. They’re avoiding it because Oakland looks like the day after the world ended.
Crime levels in Oakland are approaching all-time highs, including burglary, robbery, car theft…and prices at the airport bar.
Tellingly, the area around Oakland Airport has become so dangerous some passengers are now willing to board a Boeing aircraft just to get out of there.
According to the Oakland Police Department, in 2023 robbery was up by 37 percent, burglary was up by 24 percent, and motor vehicle theft was up 45 percent, which was an all-time record for Oakland.
Car break-ins are so bad that tourists visiting Oakland are being told to stay away from certain parts of town as they pick up their rental cars.
Remember that the next time you spend 8 hours recharging your EV.
NBC Bay area reported that Enterprise Rent-A-Car is telling customers to not fill up the car at the gas station closest to them because of break-ins.
Remember the good old days when it was BP and Exxon-Mobile who were robbing us at gas stations near the airport?
Armed security guards were posted at two gas stations near the airport. A Chevron employee, who did not want to be identified, told NBC Bay area that it’s in direct response to car break-ins.
“We couldn’t control the break-ins…It would start at 6 a.m., ‘till 2 and then in the afternoon it would be crazy, way more…On a real bad day I have seen some of these guys in the area maybe get 10 cars within the hour,” he said.
Finally, somebody who’s willing to work! Somebody get this guy a Costco application!
It’s only a matter of time before a plane taxiing back to the terminal at Oakland Airport gets carjacked.

If city leaders don’t want airline passengers avoiding Oakland Airport due to a negative association with the city, they need to stop giving people a reason to think Oakland is a hellhole. Until they do that, they can name the airport whatever they want. People still won’t go.

Will Smith channeled his "Men in Black" character in a surprise appearance at Coachella set over the weekend.
The Oscar-winning actor was dressed in a suit just like his character Agent J from the 1997 sci-fi action comedy and two sequels during J Balvin's alien-themed set Sunday night.
Smith, backed by other suited-up dancers as well as green extraterrestrial dancers, performed his song "Men in Black" from the film's soundtrack.
As the dancers in suits carried J Balvin off the stage, Smith pulled out a device like the one the agents in "Men in Black" use to erase people's memories and a white light lit up behind him.

2024.04.11 11:35 Jayjbquilll Paul Resnick

Here is a theory that I haven't been able to work on long, but it is a curious one.
Paul Resnick was an "entrepreneur" married to Faye. Thats all I know about him. Her name obviously wasnt Resnick before that. Oj mentioned another person they knew was murdered before they moved in an interview with ruby wax and said "she hiding".
What I want to know is if there is a connection between Paul Resnick and Lynda and Stewart Resnick.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynda_Resnick

Lynda was involved in copying the pentagon papers. Curiously she was never charged.

Pentagon Papers[edit]

Resnick, then Lynda Sinay, began doing occasional work for the antiwar movement during the Vietnam War era. By the fall of 1969, Resnick (then Lynda Sinay) was divorced and dating Anthony J. Russo, an engineer at RAND Corporation, a think tank in Santa Monica, Calif. He prevailed on her to allow him and a colleague, Daniel Ellsberg, to duplicate a large document using the Xerox 812 machine in her ad agency. Starting the night of Oct. 1, Russo, Ellsberg and various helpers copied 7,000 pages of the government-ordered secret history of America's involvement in Vietnam: the Pentagon Papers.
There is suspicion that Ellsberg was allowed to print the papers by the CIA, as explained by DOuglas Valentine (Will the real daniel ellsberg please stand up?-counterpunch) his book the CIA as ORganised crime is very good.
Back to Lynda.
The Resnicks purchased Teleflora in 1979,[8] at which time Lynda left her advertising job to become the company's executive vice president of marketing and eventually president. As Vice-Chair and co-owner of Teleflora's holding company, Resnick has been involved with securing flagship TV sponsorship roles.
This was formerly the telegraph delivery service, created in 1934. This would have been a government sponsored operation given the time. The resnicks bought it in 1979.
AND STEWART
Stewart Allen Resnick[1] (born December 24, 1936) is an American billionaire businessman. In 2018, Resnick was the wealthiest farmer in the United States.[2] Resnick and his wife, Lynda Resnick, bought The Franklin Mint in 1986 and sold it in 2006.[3] Since 1979 Resnick has been the chairman and president of The Wonderful Company. He is married to Lynda Resnick, and through their holding company they own the POM Wonderful and Fiji Water brands, Wonderful Pistachios and Almonds, Wonderful Halos, Wonderful Seedless Lemons, JUSTIN Wines, Landmark Wines, JNSQ Wines and the Teleflora floral wire service company.[4]
They have numrous companies, and are playing the privatisation of water game just as the L.A. ruling class have done since the 1920s (Chinatown was based on this, the chandler family) and the second to last season of billy bob thorntons Goliath was centred around almond trees and the water supply in LA, exactly what the resnicks are doing now.
Growing water-intensive nut tree crops in the Central Valley—a single almond requires 1.1 US gallons (4.2 L) of water[46]—has drawn criticism during California's ongoing drought. According to Forbes Magazine Wonderful Company uses "at least 120 billion gallons [450 million m3] a year, two-thirds on nuts, enough to supply San Francisco's 852,000 residents for a decade."[47] In addition the Resnicks own a majority stake in the Kern Water Bank, "one of California's largest underground water storage facilities. It is capable of storing 500 billion gallons [1.9 billion m3] of water. The acquisition, continuing private ownership, and water sales profit from this taxpayer-developed resource infrastructure while California suffers under drought is controversial.
So my question is are they related to Paul?
Resnick has been married twice. Her first marriage to publisher Hershel Sinay ended in divorce in 1969. They had two children: Jason Sinay and Jonathan Sinay.[5][54] Resnick's second marriage is to Stewart Resnick, who is also her business partner. They live in Beverly Hills and have a home in Aspen, Colorado.
The connection to the Mezzaluna and Aspen Colarado seems suspicious, but I have no more than that. It's really just another odd angle that could be explored, but it is not unusual for their to be relations like this between seemingly random violent events and corrupt capitalists. thanks

2024.04.08 11:50 martijnxp Wondering if this one month West USA trip is too ambitious (& costly...)

Friend and I (both M, 27) did east USA 5 years ago in sept/oct 2019 in 5 weeks, going roughly from Washington DC to New Orleans to Chicago and backt to DC. We did this on a total budget of about $1k per week per person (incl flight). This september, we are planning a western USA trip. Last time around, we didn't book anything in advance, didn't plan out the route and simply booked Airbnbs on the road to our next destination. I'm guessing that won't work out for this trip, especially with the national parks and how busy they are. Therefore, we are already planning an itinerary for the trip. Last time we were mostly focussed on partying and visiting cities, but since we have grown up slightly in the last 5 years, this time we'd love to visit as many national parks as possible, combined with a few nights out in the weekends if the schedule allows.
I'm hoping you guys have suggestions on various dilemma's we are facing:
Thanks :)

2024.04.05 18:35 onnake Murrieta Valley, Calif. school board votes to keep transgender notification policy

Murrieta Valley, Calif. school board votes to keep transgender notification policy
https://archive.is/O540g
“About seven months after adopting a policy to notify parents if their student is transgender, the Murrieta school board considered rescinding the rule but [on March 28] voted to leave it in place.
“The policy requires parents or guardians to be notified if their student asks to identify as a gender other than the ‘biological sex or gender listed on the student’s birth certificate or any other official records.’ Actions that would warrant notification include requests to use different names or pronouns, access athletics teams or bathrooms not aligned with the student’s biological sex or change information on records, it states.”
“[Last] summer, Murrieta Valley joined the Chino Valley, Temecula Valley and Orange unified school districts in approving nearly identical parental notification policies in a span of about seven weeks.”
“In the following months, California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit against Chino Valley. Public Counsel sued Temecula Valley, adding to its existing lawsuit against the district’s critical race theory ban. In October, a judge granted a preliminary injunction to stop Chino Valley from enforcing parts of its policy, but a similar request to prevent Temecula Valley from enforcing its parental notification policy and critical race theory ban was denied.”
“Several dozen people attended the session and roughly 20 spoke to the board. More than half supported removing the policy.”
“Several students and teachers who wanted the policy abolished said it had increased students’ feelings of isolation and worry.
“’Not a single good thing has come of this,’ said former Murrieta Valley student Ruby Secules, 19, who is transgender. ‘No student has been saved because of this policy; no student has been helped because of this policy.’”

2024.04.05 02:01 ThrowAway7s2 "Governor doesn't think County will ever go Dem" from the February 20, 1964 Door County Advocate

Governor doesn't think County will ever go Dem

Governor doesn't think County will ever go Dem

Mrs. John Lopas, Corres.
NASEWAUPEE — Friday evening guests at the George Merediths were Mr. and Mrs. William Laipple and daughter Helen and Mrs. Vyvyan. Sunday evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Birmingham and son John and Mrs. Vyvyan.
Pastor Henning went with Pastor Baganz. to Kaukauna Tuesday to attend the Fox Valley conference at the Trinity Lutheran church with Pastor Oehlert as host.
Going along with James Lau, Cliff Ehlers and Tom Tong to Antigo Tuesday for the annual potato information meeting Carl Roder had the pleasure of shaking hands twice with Gov. Reynolds. The governor was in a party of five inspecting a new road system in Wisconsin and they stopped at the meeting. Of course, the governor was interested to hear of anyone from Door county. Carl remarked to him that it looked as if the county was turning Democrat. "Never," replied the governor, "I don't think that will ever happen."
Mrs. Sylvester Roder informs that her niece, Miss Alice Busse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Busse, Maplewood, had her commissioning service for beginning her work as a missionary with TEAM at 3 p.m. at the Calvary Bible church, 2174 S. 96th st., West Allis. Rolf Egeland, administrative secretary of the mission delivered the sermon. The ladies of the church served a supper at a reception for Miss Busse and also for the pastor of the church who is leaving for a parish in northern Wisconsin. Miss Busse affiliated with the church while going to candidate school in Milwaukee.
Present at the services were Miss Busse's parents, her grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Kasten, her sister Elaine, the Donald Lockharts of Chicago and her Aunt Myrtle, Mrs. A. Krammer and family of Chicago. Conflicting invitations prevented the Roders from attending.
Miss Busse has sent her belongings to be shipped to West Pakistan and she plans to sail from New York Mar. 6 with a nurse of her acquaintance who is returning for her second term. Had her visa arrived she would have gone by plane on Feb. 22 with a teacher who is due in Pakistan Mar. 1 to begin a new school term.
Twenty-two members of the congregation of Calvary Bible church have pledged to provide $100 monthly for Miss Busse's missionary efforts. The first year will be language study for her, plus adjustments to make in foreign customs, culture, foods and preparation.
The Evangelical Alliance Mission is a non-profit organization. Its address is 2845 W. McLean av., Chicago 47, Ill. Miss Busse's address in Pakistan will be 24 Pine View Road, Abbottabad, Hazara, West Pakistan. Miss Busse will be in Pakistan five years.
An 80th birthday calls for a celebration and when it's a surprise the occasion is even more happy. For the birthday of her mother-in-law, Mrs. H. Roder, Feb. 13, Mrs. Sylvester Roder was hostess at a noon luncheon in her home. Besides Mrs. H. Roder's four daughters and three daughters-in-law, the following were present: Mmes. E. Abramson, K. Bueckner, M. Bueckner, K. Franda, B. Kasten, E. Meister, B. Soukup, M. Tesar, L. Vyvyan and L. Wetak. Also Mrs. L. Koskubar. Another surprise followed with open house at the home of Mrs. Carl Roder from 2 to 4 to which other neighbors and friends were invited.
Sunday Mrs. Roder entertained her entire family for dinner and the afternoon. Coming for the weekend from Jefferson were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Roder, Janell and Billy. The family dinner was followed by open house from 2 to 5 for other relatives and friends. Her daughter Anita, the Amos Page family came from Menasha and from Rosendale her daughter Eva, the Ivan Grosse family. The grandchildren in college were unable to be present, as well as her Marine grandson, David Grosse of Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Callers on Mrs. H. Roder Sunday evening were Dr. E. C. Humke and on Monday Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Petersilka and their guest, Mrs. Petersilka's sister Alma from Sheboygan. Monday afternoon Mrs. Otto Phillip visited with her. Mrs. Roder received many cards and gifts.
The second and third grade pupils at Stokes school did a switch for Valentine Day. Instead of the traditional box to hold their valentines they each had individual bags with their names taped to the wall. As the children brought their valentines to school they dropped them singly into each decorated bag. All the grade schools had small parties Feb. 14.
A valentine party at the home of Mrs. Bert Sconzert was enjoyed by 20 ladies last week Monday afternoon. Games were played and a delicious lunch enjoyed.
Sunday, Feb. 16, Mrs. Sconzert's father, A. Luetke, suffered a broken hip in a fall in his bedroom at the nursing home. He is in Bellin hospital in Green Bay. Major surgery is scheduled for Wednesday morning. Mrs. Sconzert plans to remain at the hospital with her father for two days.
Winter isn't complete without notes from the Nasewaupians in Florida. The Floyd Wecklers in Homestead write that they are getting like tans. They enjoyed the Win Larson's visit with them. Their uncle and aunt, the John Wecklers, are in the same trailer park as they. John and Tena say "Hello" too and state that they are fine.
Mumps make their appearance in Florida too. From Mount Dora, Mrs. Roy Gerhardt writes that she and three of the children were sick with the mumps at the same time. She still was to remain in bed for another week at the time of her letter of the 4th.
