2024.05.14 20:14 Techn0-Viking Artesian Cloaks (FSMP cloak mod) suddenly not working on save with Legacy of the Dragonborn

It's as the title says. I've been playing Skyrim for ages, and I have multiple saves separated by profiles in MO2. On all of them, I have FSMP and its requirements, it works perfectly, etc. Artesian Cloaks is fully functional on all saves and profiles, except for one. On all saves, FSMP is fully functional as well.
However I recently decided to get Legacy for the first time, I installed all the associated patches for it, loaded the game, and played. All FSMP mods work perfectly and beautifully on this profile and its saves, except for Artesian Cloaks. Everything else is fine, just not this mod.
I have run LOOT several times over, FNIS, I've changed my load order manually to move various patches around, and none of it works. Artesian Cloaks just outright does not seem to work with Legacy installed.
I've also tried to reinstall FSMP and all requirements, all cloaks, XP32, Artesian Cloaks, all patches, and so on, multiple times now. Still, Artesian Cloaks only works on saves that don't use Legacy, and it does not work on the one with Legacy.
Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, did you find a fix? If you found a fix, what was it?
Here's my modlist for the profile:

2024.05.14 19:44 notyourbae_tie Ingrown Facial Hair/Dark Spots?

So I've been dealing with facial hair in this one patch on my jawline for basically 10 years now, it's been getting worse and harder to manage in the last year or so. I'm getting married in September and would love to hear your solutions for ingrowns/reducing the dark/red spots, it's always so red and angry, the only time it isn't is when I let it grow but it's very dark and I have fair skin.
Right now I do a combination of plucking and using a face trimmer. I have been using glycolic acid toner and salicylic acid for about a month now daily but it doesn't seem to be doing anything yet. I do have one of those IPL at home things but I've been afraid to try it because I often will have one open sore like spot in the patch after plucking or shaving. I can't afford to do laser or anything like that right now. I was considering trying spirolactone but nervous about any side effects so close to my wedding.
Help :( I'm so afraid I'm going to feel ugly on my wedding day. My fiancé loves it when I put my hair up but I always wear it down to cover this part of my face, so I want to wear it up for the wedding but I'm literally dreading it. Any advice would be so appreciated. 🙏🏼

2024.05.14 19:09 Aiyashah hair removal on chest without getting a rash?

Hi! ive been suffering from hirsutism since im 12. When i was 14 i got my facial and cheast hair removed and started taking birth control for the hormonal imbalance so that it doesnt grow back. in february i had pulmonary embolism and had to stop taking birth control and now many issues are back. for me the biggest problem is that the hair on my face and chest grew back. I can shave my face with barely any problems but when i shave or wax my chest i get a bad rash. Usually it wouldnt be much of a problem since i usually wear high cut shirts but i want to shave it when hooking up with someone because im very ashamed of my body hair.
sorry for the long pragraph haha but does anyone have tips on how to not get a rash?

2024.05.14 18:55 mangoste1n Psychiatrist diagnosed me with PCOS???

Last week I got a blood test requested by my psychiatrist to check my levels for FSH, luteinizing hormone, free t3 and t4. I called her saying I got the results back and she immediately diagnosed me with PCOS and Grave's Disease. My levels were:
FSH: 2.1 (ovulating) LH: 3.7 T3: 4.88 (it says it was high) T4: 1.27
I know this subreddit does not have medical professionals but I can't be the only one weirded out right? My psych also said don't go to an endocrynologist because they "dont understand pcos". I understand that she also has it.
My sibling was diagnosed when she was young, and I don't display any of the symptoms she has. I have regular periods, I don't grow much facial hair besides the occasional single long chin hair. My periods are also not very painful, I get normal cramps, uncomfortable but I'm still functioning, and my libido isnt really super high or super low either. My weight is a bit high, but that was due to a previous psych doctor prescribing antidepressants/antipsychotics/sedatives that made me eat too much + gave me insulin resistance and slow metabolism.
My sibling suggested to just go to an endocrynologist + gyn to recieve further testing to really be sure, because one test for LH and FSH doesn't seem to be damning evidence to me. Is this correct or am I just wrong?

2024.05.14 18:43 AdInteresting2401 Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) - Interview with Prof. Dr. Knut Brockow

Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) is the subject of heated debate. How are mast cell activation syndromes defined? Which diseases are included? What is the diagnosis and treatment of mast cell activation syndrome? Prof. Dr. Knut Brockow, Clinic and Polyclinic for Dermatology and Allergology at the Biederstein, Technical University of Munich answers these questions in an interview with MeinAllergiePortal.
Mast cell activation syndrome: The most important facts!
-The prototype of mast cell activation syndrome is recurrent anaphylaxis
-Other forms of idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome are being sought; however, there are mainly symptom descriptions where the diagnosis cannot be made
-Clinical suspicion of MCAS is based on recurring allergy-like symptoms on the skin, nose, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and circulation
-The diagnosis of MCAS is made according to recognized international criteria based on three criteria
-MCAS is often suspected even when symptoms are inappropriate and the diagnosis is unclear; the suspicion is then not helpful for patients
-The same medications are used to treat MCAS as are used to treat allergies, in particular antihistamines and cromoglicic acid
Prof. Brockow, what kind of disease is MCAS?
Mast cell activation syndrome is not an established diagnosis, but rather a concept. Historically, this concept arose because an increasing number of patients came to the doctor's office with complaints that gave the impression of having been triggered by mast cells. These patients sometimes showed symptoms similar to those of allergic reactions, anaphylaxis or mastocytosis, but a clear diagnosis for these diseases could not be made. Nevertheless, it was suspected that there could at least be a connection with mast cell diseases. Unfortunately, the term MCAS created more uncertainty than understanding. This is because MCAS is now thrown around as a diagnosis for many patients with many symptoms and an unclear diagnosis. This is not helpful for patients and fuels short-term hope of diagnosis and cure, which cannot be fulfilled later.
Is MCAS an autoimmune disease?
No, in autoimmune diseases mast cells are not primarily involved and not as lead cells, but lymphocytes that attack the body's own structures, in some cases by forming antibodies.
Is there a connection between mast cell activation syndrome and autoimmune diseases?
No, there is no known connection between MCAS and autoimmune diseases. It has also been claimed by specific authors that other diseases, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) are related to mast cell activation syndrome. However, there are no good arguments for this. Unfortunately, such claims are easy to make and difficult to refute.
What is the cause of mast cell activation syndrome?
Mast cell activation syndrome is actually more of a symptom description than a diagnosis in its own right. Mast cell activation syndrome is fully applicable to recurrent anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions in several organ systems such as the skin, respiratory tract, digestive tract and circulatory system), for example due to insect bites. All the criteria for mast cell activation syndrome are met here. Severe allergic reactions are the most common cause of MCAS. However, although the term MCAS is correct in this context, it does not provide any additional information, as patients with such events are better described as patients with a diagnosis of anaphylaxis or allergy, and the term MCAS is somewhat confusing.
Is mast cell activation syndrome genetic?
MCAS itself is not genetic, but patients with the genetic disease mastocytosis often suffer from anaphylaxis, particularly to insect venom, and therefore MCAS. In addition, it is currently being investigated whether people with genetically determined hereditary alpha-tryptasemia suffer more frequently from MCAS.
How did the term mast cell activation syndrome come about?
There were many patients without a clear diagnosis, some of whom predominantly showed the symptoms typical of mast cell diseases. Accordingly, the experts dealing with mast cell diseases saw the need to develop a concept that took into account the “undiagnosable” symptoms of the patients. In the course of this, the terms “mast cell activation” and “mast cell activation syndrome” were defined. In addition, an attempt was made to sort all mast cell diseases into a classification with regard to mast cell activation. However, the difficulty in classifying these complaints is that many of the complaints described by patients are subjective, relatively non-specific and can be both organic and psychosomatic.
How have you defined mast cell diseases and which diseases do they include?
Mast cell diseases are defined as recurring chronic symptoms that are compatible with mast cell activation.
Mast cell activation is classified on the basis of three criteria:
Recurrent typical clinical symptoms in at least two organ systems
An increase in mast cell mediators can be detected in the blood, most frequently by determining the serum tryptase level during an acute attack
Good response of symptoms to anti-mast cell mediator-directed therapy, especially H1 antihistamines
What types of mast cell disease are there?
The classification of mast cell diseases associated with mast cell activation syndromes defines three groups:
1. primary mast cell activation syndrome
Primary mast cell activation syndrome is explained by a clonal expansion of mutated overactive mast cells. It manifests as systemic or cutaneous mastocytosis. If these criteria are not completely fulfilled, but clonal mast cells have been detected, it is referred to as monoclonal mast cell activation syndrome.
2 Secondary mast cell activation syndrome
Secondary mast cell activation syndrome is present when clear triggers of mast cell activation are known. There are established terms for secondary mast cell activation syndrome that we are more familiar with, such as “anaphylaxis” to a known trigger. The classification in the second group of mast cell diseases is therefore merely a reclassification. Examples of mast cell activation are physical urticaria or cold urticaria. Allergies such as pollen allergies are also secondary mast cell activations, as hay fever also causes symptoms typical of mast cell diseases. In pollen allergies, mast cell mediators are found in the blood serum and drugs directed against mast cells have a good effect. If the symptoms recur in several organ systems, this is referred to as mast cell activation syndrome.
3. tertiary or idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome
Tertiary or idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome refers to mast cell diseases whose triggers are unknown. This group would include, for example, chronic spontaneous urticaria, which has additional symptoms in other organs. Here we know that mast cells are activated, but not by what. This group of idiopathic mast cell activation syndromes would also include patients with as yet undescribed clinical pictures who do not fulfill the diagnostic criteria of known mast cell diseases, e.g. allergy, anaphylaxis, but in whom the disease is triggered by mast cells. In these patients, however, the connection between the symptoms and the activities of the mast cells must be proven.
Does this mean that tertiary or idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion?
Idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome can be described as a diagnosis of exclusion insofar as the prerequisite for the diagnosis is that there is no other disease causing the symptoms. However, the symptoms described are often very, very unspecific and could also be caused by a variety of other diseases. However, there are the three criteria for mast cell activation syndrome already mentioned. If these are not all fulfilled, this diagnosis cannot be made.
How common is mast cell activation syndrome?
Anaphylaxis and severe recurrent allergies are not uncommon and represent the vast majority of appropriate cases for MCAS. In addition, mastocytosis patients often have multiple anaphylaxis and therefore also MCAS. However, our initial idea of finding a new disease, idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome, has not yet been confirmed. There are many patients with many symptoms for whom a clear organic diagnosis cannot yet be made. However, it is almost never possible to prove that a defect in the mast cells is primarily responsible for the symptoms. Many of these patients describe symptoms that could fit, and in some patients anti-allergic drugs also have a positive effect. But in only very few patients can an increase in mast cell mediators be detected during an acute attack. I now believe that somatic stress disorders could play a significant role in many of the patients examined.
Histamine intolerance is also a diagnosis of exclusion, is there a connection with mast cell activation syndrome?
Histamine intolerance can cause similar symptoms, but is not a mast cell disorder and has nothing to do with MCAS. When mast cells are activated, the messenger substance histamine is released, which in turn can cause symptoms. In histamine intolerance, the mast cell is not activated - it is not involved in any way. Rather, histamine intolerance describes patients with an increased sensitivity to histamine, which is supplied, for example, via the diet. This can lead to similar symptoms, but in contrast to mast cell activation syndrome, histamine intolerance has a clear trigger, histamine. As a result, the symptoms occur after eating histamine-rich foods, but disappear again if the patient follows a low-histamine diet. A test is also available to diagnose histamine intolerance.
So there are also patients with suspected mast cell activation syndrome who cannot be assigned to a classification group, even though they have corresponding symptoms?
There are many patients in whom no mast cell activation syndrome can be detected despite suspicion. They do not fit into one of the three groups. However, this also used to include monoclonal mast cell activation syndrome. These patients showed anaphylaxis and a KIT mutation, but not the full criteria for mastocytosis. In the meantime, a separate disease diagnosis has been created for these patients. The independent accepted disease of these patients therefore lies between mastocytosis and normal findings.
We thought that there might be other forms of idiopathic MCAS with clinical pictures that have not yet been described. However, this is not supported by the findings to date. There are patients who show symptoms but do not meet the necessary criteria for idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome. In these patients, the diagnosis remains unclear. In how many of these patients functional physical complaints play a role still needs to be investigated.
Are there risk factors that favor mast cell activation syndrome?
There are hardly any recognized studies on this. In a study conducted by Cem Akin in the USA, patients were examined who met the three criteria for idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome. They had the right symptoms, there was an increase in mediators and their symptoms improved with treatment. It was shown that many of these patients suffered from urticaria factitia, a scratch-induced urticaria, abdominal pain and flushing.
Recently, a genetic trait was discovered, hereditary alpha-tryptasemia with elevated basal serum tryptase levels. In patients with this trait and insect venom allergy, the severity of the allergic reaction appears to be increased. It is also discussed that the frequency of mast cell activation syndrome is increased in patients with this genetic trait. However, the published studies are not yet unanimous in this respect.
What symptoms can occur with MCAS?
The following symptoms could be signs of mast cell activation syndrome:
MCAS symptoms on the skin:
Appearance of sudden intense redness (flushing)
itching
wheal formation
Deep wheal formation (angioedema or Quincke's edema)
MCAS symptoms on the nose:
Nasal congestion
Nasal itching
MCAS symptoms in the airways:
Swelling of the upper airways
Wheezing
Shortness of breath
MCAS symptoms of the digestive tract:
Vomiting
abdominal pain
diarrhea
Systemic MCAS symptoms:
Syncope - where you suddenly lose consciousness, but only for a short time
Sudden drop in blood pressure
Allergic shock
These symptoms can occur together or individually. In principle, symptoms must occur in two or more organ systems for MCAS. These symptoms, together with the typical skin changes and anaphylaxis, are also typical of mastocytosis.
Are muscle pain and hair loss also symptoms of MCAS?
No, why would anyone think that these symptoms are primarily caused by a malfunction of mast cells? Mast cells are not important cells for muscle pain and hair loss.
How is MCAS diagnosed?
MCAS is a diagnosis of exclusion, i.e. there is no mast cell activation syndrome test. However, this does not mean that all other diseases must be ruled out before a diagnosis of MCAS can be made.
When testing directly for mast cell activation syndrome, three criteria would be examined, all of which must be met, not just two:
First, there must be a matching of symptoms to see if the above symptoms are leading, recurrent and occur in at least two organ systems.
Is there a substantial or complete improvement in the clinical symptoms when taking anti-allergic medication, antihistamines or cromoglicic acid? Then this criterion would apply.
The blood levels of tryptase in the serum can now be examined at two different points in time. This would check whether there is an increase in mast cell mediators or tryptase in the blood serum in a highly symptomatic phase or during a seizure compared to a time when there are no symptoms.
What does the tryptase level in the blood mean in the diagnosis of mast cell activation syndrome?
If the mast cell mediator tryptase rises by 20 percent of the basal value, i.e. the initial value, + 2 ng/ml during such an episode, the diagnosis of mast cell activation syndrome has been made without the need to rule out other diseases beforehand. However, taking blood samples to determine the tryptase levels is very time-consuming, because a blood sample should be taken in the normal state and then another blood sample should be taken during a seizure or a highly symptomatic episode. This means that the patient must see a doctor in good time for a blood test during the acute phase. If these tests are negative, mast cell activation syndrome cannot be confirmed.
Elevated tryptase levels also play a role in anaphylaxis, is there a connection with mast cell activation syndrome?
Anaphylaxis is an extremely strong mast cell activation, the “prototype” of mast cell activation, so to speak. The tryptase level rises, so that it is considered an indicator of anaphylaxis. Here too, the basal value is measured and compared with the value during an episode. The relevant factor is the resulting increase in the tryptase value. The therapy against mast cells is effective in this case. In this respect, anaphylaxis is the classic form of mast cell activation syndrome.
The tryptase value also plays a role in the diagnosis of mastocytosis, what are the correlations here?
Mastocytosis patients also have an elevated baseline tryptase level. This is therefore an indication of mastocytosis and an indication for a final diagnosis by means of a bone marrow biopsy. However, there is also a mastocytosis-independent correlation between tryptase and anaphylaxis. People who have a higher number of mast cells often develop more severe anaphylaxis than people with fewer mast cells. The tryptase basal value is therefore considered a kind of indicator for the total mast cells in the body. For example, insect venom anaphylactic patients with elevated basal mast cell tryptase levels in the blood are at increased risk of severe anaphylaxis.
What can be done against MCAS and which medications help?
The aim of treatment for mast cell activation syndrome is to slow down the effect of the overactivated mast cells and to calm the mast cells. In particular, the avoidance of allergic triggers is available for this purpose.
Histamine receptor blockers are tried as medication to block the effects of mast cell activation by histamine. Mast cell stabilizers or blockers of mast cell release, cromoglicic acid, can also calm the mast cells. Cromoglicic acid is also used in mastocytosis patients. It is important to know that the use of cromoglicic acid is not advisable if the attack has already run its course. On the other hand, many patients achieve a significant improvement in symptoms if cromoglicic acid is taken continuously as a preventive measure and in a sufficiently high dose. This has also been shown to be the case with antihistamines.
Another option would be leukotriene receptor antagonists and corticosteroids in the short term, but never over a longer period of time.
Unfortunately, many patients with previously unexplained complaints are given a suspected diagnosis of MCAS in the hope that this knowledge will lead to better treatment or perhaps a cure. However, apart from the drugs mentioned, which can also be used on a trial basis in cases of suspected MCAS, there are no other useful drugs available. In this respect, the suspicion of MCAS unfortunately does not offer patients any additional treatment options.
Are there foods that activate or deactivate mast cells?
No such foods are known in humans. Of course, it is possible to bombard mast cells in a test tube with high concentrations of food and measure whether the natural activation of mast cells is increased or reduced. However, such tests are generally not meaningful for humans when consumed.
Can naturopathy help with mast cell activation syndrome?
I don't know how it could help. Naturopathy is the attempt to achieve a positive effect through naturally occurring active substances. Is the avoidance of allergens in our natural environment already naturopathy?
Could certain vitamins, for example vitamin C, be beneficial for MCAS?
This is claimed by a few doctors without any convincing results. Vitamin C is also said to help against seasickness. After all, vitamin C, taken in normal amounts, is not harmful and is beneficial. Sometimes the conviction that a substance is good for you also helps. That's why the experiment doesn't bother me.
Is it possible to prevent mast cell activation syndrome?
Yes, by avoiding MCAS with a known trigger. This is the case with allergies. In the case of allergies and recurrent anaphylaxis as a form of MCAS, omalizumab, an antibody against immunoglobulin E, can also be used in individual patients.
Prof. Brockow, thank you very much for this interview!

2024.05.14 18:24 Exotic_Revenue7013 Help on load order

I'm new to skyrim and modding in general but I read on load order is important that the game runs properly but I have no idea what or how to exactly sort it properly. Could anybody give a general guideline to follow. Currently whenever i encounter any problems i either do: a) Skip the mod entirely after searching the mods and found it might be too complex to follow b) Reinstall Skyrim and hope for the best c) Enable and disable mods to find out which is working or not working
Here's my plugin modlist if it helps

3 years working on thicker ends, has it been worth it?
It's great to see these progress pics side by side. I guess it validates the patience, time and effort I've invested in my haircare routine.
I'm still learning and this haircare journey will be ongoing, I'll continue to work on thickening my ends.
Here's what's helping me .
1: getting small and sometimes not so small trims every 3 months.
2: adding a little oil to my ends every day (jojoba oil) but I've also used a variety and love them as well.
3: When I wash my hair I apply CHI Total.
4: After applying CHI Total I finger comb my hair, I won't use a hair brush until my hair is dry.
5: I sleep with a long satin bonnet and a satin pillow cover.
6: Vitamins I take, B complex, Zink, Vitamin d, and Collagen.
What's your best tip for getting thicker ends?

2024.05.14 17:58 Middle-Jeweler784 First changes on HRT

First changes on HRT
Let's talk about the first changes I felt on hormone replacement therapy. In this post, we'll discuss the physical changes—ones you can see or touch.
During my second week of HRT, I was anxious about my body remaining the same as before. One morning, I woke up in despair and decided to lie face down on my pillow. As I turned, I realized that it really hurt lying on my chest. That was the most pleasurable pain I had ever experienced; it meant that my breasts were developing.
The second change was with my skin. It became more "glowy," smoother, and softer. You know that feeling of gently touching a peach? That was it. My 🌵 turned into a 🍑. On the other hand, it became much more delicate, and opening cans with bare hands wasn't an option anymore.
The third change, and the most loved by my wife, was my smell. I literally stopped filling any room with my odor (I knew before transitioning where the shower is). At the same time, I stopped sweating as much, and now I put my sports uniform in the washing machine not because it smells, but just because... I'm used to it.
The fourth change was with my feet size. I'm not really sure about the reason, but I lost one shoe size in 3 months. That was a very expensive thing to change all my footwear, so for some time, I decided to buy shoes in the lower price range.
The fifth change I noticed was with my body hair thinning out and growing much slower. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about facial hair, so there are still a lot of upcoming sessions of laser torture. My hair on my head also got much softer and "fluffier."
The sixth, and not the most unpleasant one, was muscle strength loss. I really understood what my wife meant by saying that she can't lift heavy things.
The seventh was that my nails got softer and break much easier, so two layers of topcoat are a must.
The eighth, and a bit questionable, change is that my wife claims I got shorter by a couple of centimeters (around an inch). I can't prove it because I hadn't measured myself for a long time before HRT, and I am still the only one who replaces the step ladder.
And last one - the sense of smell. I can literally feel what a person ate for breakfast. Unfortunately, most of the smells aren't so pleasant, especially the male smell. it can be my plan B if I get fired - I'll replace a dog in airport security service.
Am I happy? YES. VERY. MUCH.
What was your experience?

2024.05.14 17:58 NerdyStylishMermaid Berberine and Inositol Recommendations and Interactions

Backstory: I (F28) have never been formally diagnosed with PCOS (my last doctor said my bloodwork was normal & I didn't have enough cysts to meet the Rotterdam criteria), but 5 years ago I was overweight and diagnosed pre-diabetic. I have a family history, which lead me to reach out to a nutritionist, and with her help, I lost 40 lbs., but some of the weight came back, so I had to make further changes to my diet. I'm currently keto and do intermittent fasting, which so far has helped me maintain my current weight and keep me from gaining 5 lbs overnight.
I also manage my PCOS with other lifestyle adjustments (I've exercised on and off over the years, working on making it into a daily routine) and a whole horde of supplements (vitamin D, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, probiotics, collagen, turmeric, zinc, etc.). I also have ADHD (inattentive type severe) for which I am on Vyvanse, which has also helped with my stress. Still working on sleep. I do get a period and it is much more manageable than it used to be (aside from the occasional cramp), I'm not on birth control anymore, and my acne is also much more manageable.
My current struggles are with hirsutism (I basically have a daily routine of plucking my chin hairs), hair thinning & dandruff, the PCOS belly which I now realize has been there my whole life (before my weight spiraled out of control I used to look fit and thin everywhere except for the belly), and blood sugar, which I have chalked up to insulin resistance and testosterone. For this I have been looking into berberine and inositol.
My question is, do you have any recommended brands, what has been your experience with it, does it help with the excess fat or hair thinning or other symptoms, or do you know if they interact with any other supplements and ADHD medication? Or can you recommend any other supplements that would help?

2024.05.14 17:44 Burzumka666 Gynaecologist referrals

Hi there, How did you all get referrals to gynecologists? I've only been able to get a referral to an endocrinologist, despite expressing concerns about gynecological issues. I was told that my problems are solely endocrinological and not gynecological. However, I've recently been discharged from endocrinological care with a letter instructing my GP to continue prescribing the same birth control (Gederal) that I've been on for a year. The thing is, this birth control was supposed to help with my facial hair, but it hasn't shown any effectiveness. When I raised this concern with my gp, they refused to make any changes without consulting my endocrinologist, who has since discharged me with the same ongoing prescription plan. I'm feeling a bit lost and unsure of what steps to take next. Has anyone else experienced something similar? What could I do about it? Outside of pcos, I’m afraid I could have endometriosis, which is another reason why I'd like to be seen by gynecologists. However, I have been told I cannot have endometriosis and pcos from my gp, It has been very difficult for me. Thank you in advance for your support.

2024.05.14 17:42 Thosepassionfruits Shaving noob here looking for a starter kit. The sidebar info is a little dated (8-12 years ago). What would you recommend to someone looking to switch from cartridge razors to a double edge?

I've read through most of the FAQ and sidebar info. I'd like to switch to a DE razor because I'm sick of constantly breaking out after shaving. I do not have very thick facial hair (can't grow a beard or 'stache) so I don't think I need anything with a super aggressive angle, but the hair is pretty coarse.
What store(s)/brand(s) would you recommend for a wet shaving noob (US based) looking for their first DE razor and other kit items, pre-shave oil, brush, cream, post shave lotion, etc.?

2024.05.14 17:31 Own_Bedroom_9668 Diagnosed with posterior pituitary tumor.

Hello, I am a 20y F. I have had hormone issues since I hit puberty. I got my first period at 9yo and have had irregular periods ever since. Ever since I was a child I had issues with excessive urination. My parents never thought much of it so we never pursued it. I was a competitive swimmer and I was always at a healthy weight. I still am very active, have a healthy diet, and weigh 120lbs. When I turned 15-16 I had severe cystic acne, hair loss, depression, my face appeared very swollen, painful periods, etc. I was on and off the pill and spironolactone but nothing really helped. Despite going on spironolactone the amount I was urinating was the same whether I am on it or not which is very strange to me. Also when I was about 16-17 I had tachycardia and shortness of breath and I was having exercise intolerance. I saw a cardiologist and they diagnosed me with POTS syndrome. When I was 18 I got my DHEA checked and it came back mildly elevated (300). I also had some small cysts on my ovaries so I was diagnosed with PCOS. I then started taking Yaz and Spironolactone 100mg. I felt much better initially but soon I was still having some problems with hair loss, acne, mood swings, urination, fatigue, heart palpitations/tachycardia, facial flushing, unwanted hair growth, and headaches. I went to a naturopathic doctor since my OBGYN dismissed my concerns. She ran multiple tests and the only thing that came back abnormal was my cortisol (35) and cholesterol (200) which have come back slightly elevated numerous times. She referred me to an endocrinologist where I had multiple tests done. My cortisol consistently comes back elevated at 50-70 for 24h urine, and 30-40 for blood. My prolactin serum initially came back as 45 with a reference range of 4.79 - 23.3. I then had an MRI which showed 5 x 2 microadenoma on my posterior pituitary. I have never had elevated/abnormal testosterone, ACTH, or other hormones and I don’t have the physical symptoms of Cushing's disease. I also have not experienced any sort of vision loss. My endocrinologist was then concerned with the possibility of an adrenal tumor. She ordered catecholamines urine which all came back normal. She also ordered metanephrines urine and my Normetanephrine came back elevated at 386 with a reference range of 90-315. She refuses to order a CT scan to check if there is a possibility of a pheochromocytoma. I just don’t understand why my cortisol is consistently coming back high when she tells me I don’t have cushings. I recently went to my follow-up appointment and she dismissed all of my concerns. She said my cortisol is high due to my birth control, the excessive urination is from spironolactone or bladder problem, the headaches are not from the microadenoma but a possible neurologic problem, and the hair loss from stress. I am really unsure of what to think or do. I feel that I’m not making any progress. I know it’s a very small tumor and I am very young but it still bothers me. I also feel I have more symptoms of an adrenal tumor than pituitary. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

2024.05.14 17:30 oooglygoogly122 Not sure what to do

Hi, so I'm searching for advice on how to get diagnosed or what to do.
I'm 21 , and have gained 60 lbs in the last year and it happened so quick. I hadn't changed my diet or exercise patterns the weight just came out of nowhere. I have the worst stretch marks, constant tummy issues, (bloating etc.) facial hair I have to really keep up with my mustache the chin hair isn't as bad tho. But I'm still shaving at least twice a week. I went to the Dr. they ran blood work and my testosterone was high. They then referred me to an OBGYN who did an ultra sound and saw one Cyst on my ovary but said it wasn't enough to be diagnosed with PCOS. Just put me on birth control and hoped it would help.
I gave it a year or so and went to a new Dr. asking for a referral to an Endocrinologist. You have to have a referral to see one here. They ran my blood work, my testosterone is high, thyroid is high , my A1C is on the very high end of the normal range. I still grow a mustache and now a partial beard and cannot loose weight. With all of these issues I'm not sure what it could be other than PCOS. But I was told yet again , that it isn't PCOS and to go back to the OBGYN.
I have changed my diet completely and am exercising more and still cannot loose weight or figure anything out to help me with these symptoms.
Please give me your advice and thoughts !

F33
I am considering removing the birthmarks/moles on my face, in particular the bigger ones below lips and beside nose, most visible in pic 1. Are they causing considerable disharmony?
No makeup despite of eyebrows and sunscreen in the pictures with blue shirt. Enlargened pores and skin condition in general is an area I am putting effort in, but with less results than I would wish for. Sunscreen might make the skin look a bit oily. Hair looking different in the pictures depending on stage in wash cycle/hair products. Pictures in blue shirt are from today, white shirt yesterday.
I am generally drawn to practical hairstyles like braids, unkempt mess, or shorter hairstyles with little to no daily management. Might drag down my looks but so be it. But would my facial features be complimeneted by shortelonger hair? Dyed hair?
Trying again with frontal pictures with the whole head showing, to abide by the photo quality rules.

2024.05.14 16:28 bilby-00 Hair loss and regrowth. TE?

Hi guys!
So, I'll begin with saying that I've been losing a bunch of hair since being sick in late January this year. Over that time, I'd estimate that I've lost between 50-65% of my hair in not quite 4 months.
I had an appointment with a new doctor almost 3 weeks ago since my old one was genuinely useless. Anyways, she checked my scalp and said nothing really looks out of the ordinary (background; she has worked in dermatology also), she looked through my blood work and said everything aside from iron was good. (It dropped to 24 in that time after being perfect when I had an ER visit back in January.) Based on that, she suggested TE and has said to take hair vitamins, iron supplements and maybe a vitamin d supplement every couple days for a couple months and see if the shedding stabilises or not. She said it's not necessary in her opinion for me to be on minoxidil or fin or anything like that at this point since I've had an episode of drastic hairloss back in 2017 and regained full density.
I had already been taking the hair vitamins and vitamin d for a couple months at that point to do anything to slow the intense shedding. I also added in selenium rich nuts like Brazil nuts and walnuts, as well as cashews, almonds, and hazelnuts. I added protein powder into my diet every couple of days if I couldn't get enough in my meals and snacks. Drank a bunch more herbal teas to help increase water intake and reduce my coffee intake. I've been trying to massage my scalp for 3 minutes minimum a day, using a rosemary, peppermint and argan scalp oil every second day and washing every other day with an anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner because I had some pretty bad dandruff at one point.
Although it is diffuse shedding, it almost seemed like my hairline and temple hair thinned overnight. Then it was my part became my fixation point. Then it was my crown, exposing my double cowlick even more, making the thinning even more noticeable. (My cowlick has always been noticeable since I have the 2 so close together that go in opposite directions.) My temples have filled back in nicely since falling off my forehead 😂 Not perfect, but acceptable. My hairline recovered, then 2 VERY tiny spots formed on one side and have started filling back in already. I've noticed A LOT of little sprouts coming up all over the top of my head, but definitely not at the quantity of what was there before. I don't expect it to all come back at once. I know it'll be at least a 6 month wait to see any real difference. I've experienced smaller sheds, but this one and the one back in 2017 are by far the worst.
Fast forward to now. I changed my diet as soon as I could stomach solid foods and substantial meals again and added in the vitamins and hair oil (about mid February). I have been taking iron for about 3-ish weeks. So far my shedding seems to be stabilising 🤞 I started around 200+ hairs lost a day (my worst being estimated about 400-500) and most days now I lose at or around 100 hairs. In the past 2 weeks there was only 1 day where I lost around 150 hairs. I even had a few days where I only lost 30-60!
If you've made it this far, my question is: "Should I wait it out for a few more months since I already have a lot of roughly 1 inch or smaller new growths coming in all over the place or do you think I should I maybe start considering some alternative treatments?"

2024.05.14 16:26 hiddenremnant switching from sustanon to gel due to mood/irritability

basically we're switching from sustanon to t gel since our endo feels that should help the issues we have at peak on sustanon with angeirritability. we've also been told nebido should be less peaky by some other guys online but us and our endo decided we'll try gel first since a 3 month shot is harder to adjust dose wise than a daily gel application.
for context, we've been on 0.5ml/125mg sustanon every 2 weeks for 1 year, levels are at like 20nmol/l at peak and 6nmol/l at trough, generally been doing great on it in terms of how we feel aside from the irritability, and we've had really good facial and body hair growth, voice drop's been great, face masculinising, etc. has been great too. bottom growth has been lacking (1.5cm flaccid, 2cm hard). injecting is fine, it's mainly whether the angeirritability can be removed and have better bottom growth results and more consistent levels.
basically any advice / experiences from people who did something similar would be great.

2024.05.14 15:19 Own-Commercial3366 Any bludfluw or placebo supplements to slow down graying?

I've made peace with the short buzzcut and beard look. Long time fin/min user, diffuse thinner, hair still gradually miniaturizing gradually. Dabbled in RU/Dut in the past but not long term sustainable for me personally.
Anyway, I'm loving the look the having a bit of gray in my late 30s, I'm just concerned that this shit might spread like wild wildfire. So besides living a stress free life (lol), any specific nutrition/vitamins/supps that *might* help slow down the process?
