2023.12.09 11:55 EndersGame_Reviewer Review: Slots Playing Cards
The SLOTS deck is the most recent addition to the Casino Range of marked decks with flip-book animation from Mechanic Industries. A slot machine is a popular staple at many casinos, and in depending on where in the world you live, is also called a fruit machine, poker machine, or one-armed bandit. Typically it has a screen displaying three or more reels that spin when it is activated, and this makes it perfectly suited to flipbook animation. submitted by EndersGame_Reviewer to playingcards [link] [comments] One fun idea about the tuck box is that you can cut out a slit in the top of the tuck box, and use this for depositing a coin (just like you might do with a slot machine), and incorporate this idea into your magic. https://preview.redd.it/ip4qulv3295c1.jpg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95f1703b8b3715fe6dc767f75a386b4aec12084d The icons on the tuck box immediately bring to mind the kinds of image you might expect to see on a slot machine, and give somewhat of a preview of what we'll see on the card backs. A clever ambigram of the word SLOTS in the center of the card backs ensures that the animation will work regardless of the orientation of the cards. Riffling the card backs produces a delightful animation of the icons spinning round. Arrows the move up and down the borders help strengthen the visual effect. Head over to this Slots promo video over on the official Mechanics Industries YouTube channel to see how this looks in action. The changing backs also double up as a marking system that reveals the card values, and full information about how to read the card backs is provided in an instructional online video. https://preview.redd.it/rd4ky965295c1.jpg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d60e52e1b5e10ea7d269730959d1a8683118115f The pips have been slightly stylized for a unique touch. And in keeping with the color scheme of the rest of the deck, the Hearts and Diamonds employ a vibrant yellow instead of the usual red, and the result is rather effective, working well with the black of the Spades and Clubs. The artwork on all the Aces has been given a boost with some extra lines, and the custom design of the Ace of Spades is particularly well done. https://preview.redd.it/d69fc876295c1.jpg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a70fb69f19903467266aec68760f0d1de0d0b82 As we're used to by now from Mechanic Industries, the court cards are also of special interest, each having some distinctive touch to fit with the casino theme. As a result we have court characters clutching wads of cash, or tossing coins. For the rest the card faces have a traditional look, to help keep the deck functional and practical for magic. Printing by USPCC on their crushed premium stock ensures quality looks and handling. https://preview.redd.it/7lrg1m77295c1.jpg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=726ec583a2d72e94a55762898a718149857175ff The folks at Mechanic Industries like coming up with unique routines for each of their decks, and most of their decks include creative Jokers that facilitate fun tricks. There are three Jokers with this deck, two of which depict their Grinder coin, and the third being blank except for the indices. The final card included is an ad card with the link and password needed to access the free tutorial that is provided for owners of the Slots deck. It runs for over an hour, and contains a full explanation of everything you need to know in order to get the most out of this deck. This includes some strong magic tricks, and the "Jackpot" effect you'll learn is relatively easy to perform, but packs quite a punch. Head over to the product page over at Mechanic Industries to learn more. https://preview.redd.it/43xnc7f8295c1.jpg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a680fb47fae4f0dd98b2d6282b8652d3bc492a09 Author's note: I first published this review as part of a larger article at PlayingCardDecks. |

2022.11.29 09:00 malak_jewelers_info Every Diamond Shape That Is Trending In 2022
A diamond is a start of a beautiful journey toward building the perfect engagement ring. Everything in the world can have room for loopholes but not your engagement ring! submitted by malak_jewelers_info to u/malak_jewelers_info [link] [comments] https://preview.redd.it/xacwle41ku2a1.jpg?width=617&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5b5d661177219d1ff2c171dd40b2ed492c7aed6 Thus, the diamond on your ring is of prime importance. Diamond shapes come and go but there are a few that continues to reclaim their place time and again. Couples of the modern age are more concerned with how a diamond shape works for them rather than worrying about what shape will please the people around them. Therefore, a lot of shapes that were lost in time have made their way back to the pavilion. The resurgence of these diamond shapes has brought along a wave of unrealistic demands for these diamonds. Therefore, if you are looking for a diamond shape to crown your diamond ring with, these are the shapes that have taken the year 2022 by storm.
Pear diamonds are among the most sought-after diamond shapes in the world after round diamonds. The wide range of proportions this shape is found in, enables it to be one of the most flattering shapes a woman can don her hands with. Moreover, the pear diamond is a winner when it comes to exhibiting brightness. The unique carving of these diamonds allows them to reflect light outwards, which accounts for the intense sparkling brilliance that follows.
A diamond shape has more to do with your personality than with the trends that subside one diamond over another. Therefore, even when these diamonds are the top ones on the list this year, Malak Jewelers have many other diamonds that didn't make the list. So, give your engagement ring the diamond shape it most truly deserves, with diamonds from one of the best collections. |

2020.07.04 01:13 Singhilarity [COMC] 4 Years in, feeling mostly near completion!
submitted by Singhilarity to boardgames [link] [comments] ![img](6wpluxh4yp851 "I've played plenty of board games over the course of my life, but my serious involvement in the hobby began in 2016, visiting the local game store which opened just a few blocks from my house. I ended up purchasing Ryan Laukat's Above and Below, which is actually a charming game, as well as Tsuro, Spirit Island, and Near and Far - all of which I left with my ex, since she quite enjoyed them. ") https://i.redd.it/6wpluxh4yp851.jpg image link for those experiencing an error. A huge number of these games have expansions which I've managed to fit into the box. I'm a stickler for efficient space use. (You can see I cut down the box for Raptor to fit it into its minimal possible size, which is SO much better) Going Clockwise from the Top Left box: Symetra was made by my friend, and is my first Kickstarter back, from waaay back in 2014 - but that was predominantly as a friendly gesture - but the game itself is actually really pretty cool, although I need to break it out considerably more than I do. Vast: The Mysterious Manor includes the Haunted Hallways, since I Kickstarted backed it. With some clever pruning of the mini-trays, all of the content fits in a single box. It is one of my favourite games! A free-for-all heavy party game. Thinky, crunchy, silly, thematic, and really, really fun. Root has all of its expansions. The Bots and original boards are behind the box, the playmats are in a collaged PVC tube beside the shelf. Root doesn't hit the table nearly as much as I'd like, but I have logged dozens of plays of it all by myself and I still have a brilliant time with it every time. It's way too good. I am keen on getting my group more involved. Inis is another one of my favourite, favourite games. And Seasons of Inis is neatly contained within the original box, as well. We're a 5 player group more often than not, so this was an obvious purchase. Then my "Lighter Game" section: Survive has the expansion box (5 player, squids, dolphins, etc.) fit within the original. So simple and so much fun. Colt Express has the Horses and Stagecoach expansion fit within the box. Holy moses this one is an entertaining blitz of not-too-serious fun. Action programming train robbery. The Horses and Stagecoach adds just enough gristle and additional decision space to make it never really get old. I consider this game to be the Platonic Ideal of what you could get in a Kinder Surprise. It is a very good toy. I want to get the Marshal and Prisoners expansion because - it bumps the max player count up to 8 and having alternate roles is really neat. Clank! has the Underwater & Silk + Gold expansions. They're in a box behind the other boxes. One of my first purchases. Stands the test of time. I can't play it too often or it gets stale, but it's a great intro (as are most other games in this section of the kallax) and I really enjoy it when it comes out. I think that the cards of the Underwater Expansion add a lot to the game - all of the "when discarded" effects make the game much more interesting. Flipships (with it's gorgeous ambigram title!) is on my shelf of shame... but in fairness I only purchased it a few weeks ago, following its appearance on the "Game of the Week" on here. I have no dexterity games. It seems really fun. I'm looking forward to getting a chance to play it. An Infamous Traffic is... interesting. I'll be honest, it's more interesting for me in terms of its historical context than it is super fun to play - but that's after running through it a single time only. I jumped on the deal that Hollandspiele had towards the end of last year. I'm keen to play it more, but it's not amongst my favourites. Bottom Right corner is the "generally less agressive to other players" corneworker placement In the Hall of the Mountain King is actually quite a nifty, replayable, tetromino game that I'd like to play more. My girlfriend is a little intimidated by it, but my group get some kicks out of it. Imperius is wholly inspired by a) my interest in Grand Rodiek's design work and b) my adoration of Frank Herbert's Dune universe, to which it is an homage. Inis got me super stoked on card drafting. I like it's exploration of hidden information and subterfuge paired with almost territory control. It's super duper neat. I've played through half a game 2 player, but it was late. I am very much looking forward to playing it more. Raiders of the North Sea with the Hall of Heroes expansion fit snugly within the box. This is probably my girlfriend's favourite (alongside Clank! and Colt Express) and, honestly, it's a really fun game that has just enough complexity and a perfect sense of timing such that it manages to never outstay it's welcome. Hall of Heroes adds a lot to it. Five Tribes! Oh my. My only expansion regrets. I have both Artisans of Naqala & Whims of the Sultan - I'll be honest... this is a 2p game. It is a magnificent 2p game. One of my favourite 2p games. It's fine at 4 or 5 players, but everything about it is polished to a shine when it is played with two. The game to set up next to a plate stacked high with dates, two cups of strong coffee and a carafe of refills, large cushions, and an entire morning to languidly enjoy with a mind whom you respect. I love Five Tribes. The expansions are *good*, but weren't really necessary. Bottom Left is my almost entirely 2p shelf! Getaway Driver is suuuuuuper fun! If you have a really keen partner, you can set it up as a chaser between games - using the scattered pieces of your prior game as the landscape to drive around! Put on your best chase music and the pedal to the metal. It only gets better with more plays! Skulk Hollow delivers everything I'd like it to, although I'd like to play it a little bit more than I do, and the iconography for movement can periodically be confusing... it's a really tense back and forth that I think is absolutely worth the delve if you have a partner with whom you can regularly tete-a-tete. Mr. Jack is one of my earliest purchases, my third Bruno Cathala game, and SO CLEVER! It engages different mentalities while you're playing, and has a very deep level of strategy & tactics, while remaining a surprisingly light game. Onitama is also great! Simple, excellent components. I have the Sensei's Path expansion which really isn't worth it. The cards aren't as wholly cohesive as the original ones and the game is plenty replayable without it. But it's really fun. My girlfriend also rocks at it, so that's a bonus. Nautilion is gorgeous but, much like Near and Far, never really feels like much of a game. Perhaps I should explore it more. It's a super beautiful package of art, but that's about the extent of my feeling towards it. Raptor is probably in my top 5. Especially after I trimmed the box down. It is fast to set up, fast to teach, crazy replayable, and insanely clever. Sometimes you get poor card draws, but every game I play I find my strategy and understanding of the game getting somewhat deeper. Cannot recommend enough. Akrotiri is hiding behind Burgle Bros - I like Akrotiri but it's just been heavier than most of my play partners tend to enjoy when it's 2p. I'll try bringing it around more, because it's actually a really clever little game. Burgle Bros, on the other hand, is another all timer. Look at the box! Small. Elegant. Thematic! I listened to Tim Fowers give a talk at GDC about aiming to distill the emotional high points of spy movies into this game, and he knocked it out of the park. My favourite victory was a nail biting 3p game with all but one of the criminals on the roof; and our protagonist with a single stealth remaining and essentially cornered by the lightning fast 3rd floor guard. So I elected to do nothing... and my "event" deck draw was "service shaft" or something of the sort, which basically has you fall up a floor. To victory. Too good. Hanabi is brilliant. Enough said. If you don't know it, go learn it. It does get a little bit more stale as you play repeatedly with the same group of players - but it's actually a surprisingly good tool to try and tone communication. I love it. Games which are incoming: Oath, Pax Pamir 2e, Burgle Bros 2 all kickstarted. Oh, and Fort. I think it's evident which type of games I enjoy, and which designers I trust. I do think I might want a more complex euro/financial game and have been alternately contemplating Underwater Cities and Great Western Trail leaning more heavily towards the latter. I think I covered my regrets/what I would change about my collection above, but in brief: I don't think I need the Five Tribes expansions, Akrotiri, the Onitama expansion, or An Infamous Traffic. Or the Root Bots, to be honest. But I'll make use of every single one, despite it all. I felt proud and wanted to share! If you made it this far, kudos. I'm evidently verbose. Cheers! |
