2024.05.14 23:39 MJMiner Weapon overhaul

As a veteran of HD1 and the first galactic war I am absolutely appalled at the state of the game’s current arsenal. There are some fun and unique weapons here and there but most of them just feel redundant or terrible. Nowhere is this more visible that the AR, SMG, and DMR lineup. Here is a rework I’m proposing to high command ti ensure we are given proper tools to ensure the safety and spread of managed democracy.
Gun Rebalance and additions ARs Class Role: Rifles are designed to put holes through targets, and they need to reflect this role better. All rifles with Light penetration have been upgraded to be Light armor defeating. This means that while weapons with Light AP will damage light armor, they won’t always fully damage it. While rifles with light armor defeating fully negate light armor and deal full damage to it.
Liberator, 65DMG, Excellent ergonomics, the best weapon for firing on the move, +1 mag Role: Extremely easy to control and ideal for new players or veterans looking for something reliable. Capable of 45/45/4.5/ delivering 45 rounds at 45 meters in 4.5 seconds on target with no effort. Lore: High command has started production on upgrade kits for our standard rifles to improve it’s handling. Liberators now come with a vertical foregrip and a new muzzle brake to better control the weapon.
AP Liberator, 70 DMG, +5 rounds, Slower reload, 23 recoil, bad ergonomics, Uses AR scope Role: This Frankenstein of a gun is not for new players, uncomfortable recoil, and unfriendly handling in exchange for uncompromising stopping power. Terrible when firing on the move, with significant muzzle climb. But it provides rapid armor-piercing fire to those who can control it. Lore: The Penetrator started its life as a converted liberator modified to better penetrate armor. However there was no standard for how this would be achieved, so the conversion differs from regiment to regiment. Typically it involved sawing off a diligence barrel and converting it into a squeeze bore to increase velocity at the cost of terminal ballistics without using new ammunition. High Command has now realized the potential usefulness of a standardized conversion for its service rifle. Fabricator schematics have been published for new components and manuals for a consistent conversion. As part of project Ironbreaker, an initiative to outfit soldiers with better AP weapons, Production has begun on a variety of new ammo for the weapon which is much more powerful. The new 5.77mm Talon round generates 3x more chamber pressure than the liberator. The weapon itself has a new chamber and a properly machined barrel, made from surplus diligence rifles. The new AP liberator is also outfitted with a standard rifle optic, Punisher pump grip for a vertical grip, 35 round magazine, and a grey and red color scheme to denote its new changes.
Adjudicator, 90-100 DMG, 720 RPM, 30 recoil, Burst fire, uses the DMR scope Role: Battle rifle, Ideal for long-range combat, Semi-auto for small targets or precise shooting, Burst fire for large targets or close combat. Sluggish ergonomics but surprisingly controllable. Lore: Designed to replace liberator rifles on specific fronts where armored enemies are more common, the adjudicator was met with mixed success. The weapon proved to be reliable, powerful, and accurate but failed to fully replace the liberator in an assault rifle capacity. However, the 17th Helldivers regiment came up with a brilliantly effective modification. The outfitted the weapon with a reciprocating barrel shroud and a burst fire mode to turn the rifle into a long-range killing machine. With a surplus of Adjucator parts piling up from the weapon’s failure, High command has made this modification the new factory standard for all Adjucator rifles. The added weight and complexity in exchange for what has been reported as a 50% increase in accuracy seemed to be a fair trade.
Tenderizer, 840RPM, 75-round drum, 12 recoil, 4 mags, Terrible reload, Okay moving accuracy Role: IAR, ideal for laying down sustained fire on targets, can mow down multiple targets quickly. Low magazine count and high RoF make this weapon prone to running out of ammo. Lore: A new development to supplant the more expensive and time-consuming liberator rifles for SEAF army troopers, the Tenderizer was an unwelcome addition. It was heavier, bulkier, and awkward to handle. However, the increased bulk made it easy to control during sustained fire and it was very reliable under this strain. Troops began jury rigging drum magazines to use it as light machine guns. With a sizeable surplus of the liberator’s 5.77mm ammo, High Command began testing a designated IAR (Infantry Automatic Rifle) variant for helldivers use. This variant was an instant success providing individual hell divers with team-level firepower in a rifle-sized package.
Blackout(New), 85DMG, 420RPM, 24 round mag, 8 mags, superb moving accuracy, Silenced Role: Ideal for stealthy missions, the blackout deals very high damage at close range, while enabling the user to remain undetected from nearby patrols. Not effective vs armor Lore: Developed for Blackguard operatives, the Blackout is an integrally suppressed rifle created in response to the rising automaton threat. Veterans of Maevelon Creek petitioned High command to develop a new rifle, able to quietly eliminate bots while still being effective against devestators.
Yari(New), 45DMG, 1400RPM burst, 900RPM salvo, 36 Round magazine, 10 mags, AP Role: Prototype rifle with lightweight Sabot ammunition, fires a 3-round hyperburst and a 6-round salvo. Exceptional ammo efficiency and power at range lacks close combat ability.
DMRs(Classwide rework) Role: DMRs are designed to put rounds where rounds need to go while also being able to be used alongside assault rifles in a firefight. In Helldivers DMRs take an unconventional role of being viable against light target while alos enabling the user to defeat larger enemies like devestators and bile spewers at long range. To start, DMRs have a new bonus, DMRs deal +75% extra weak point damage (Headshots) and deal 10% more damage per point of AP they have over the target region. So they do extra damage if they hit the soft unarmored bits as well as on headshots. They also receive 50% less recoil while prone to better provide accuracy at range. DMRs are for the methodical sharpshooter who prefers to pick off targets at a distance instead of charging in, rewarding careful positioning and shot placement with heaps of dead foes.
Diligence, 120-140 DMG, 22 Round mag, 30 recoil, 8 mags, Full auto mode, Silenced Role: Starter DMR that delivers high damage at long range while keeping the user concealed. Silencer isn’t as effective at close range, but great for staying hidden during firefights. Lore: High command has witnessed the substantial failures of their DMRs and has issued a complete recall of the weapon. A brand new receiver and chamber system has increased its muzzle velocity by 500 feet per second, greatly increasing lethality.
Diligence CS, 175-200DMG, 18-round mag, 6 mags, Staggers on full damage hit, Thermal optic Role: This more demanding variant of Diligence rewards more precise shooting with higher damage. It is better at stopping large targets but is less effective at picking off enemies. Lore: as part of the Ironbreaker initiative, many weapons are being issued new nitro ammunition. The diligence CS has undergone a more extensive upgrade. A new barrel and chamber designed to maximize lethality with the new ammo has greatly increased stopping power. The CS can stop devastators, bile spewers, berserkers, and similar targets with just a few hits. It has also been outfitted with a thermal sight to see through fog, sand, gas, and smoke.
Retribution(New), 275 DMG, 8 Round mag, Bolt action, Rounds reload, Silenced, AP Role: Longest range DMR, remarkably quiet and powerful, ideal for dropping large targets and protecting teammates from range.
Wyvern(New), 110DMG, 360 RPM, 26 Round magazine, 8 Mags, AP, Full Auto capable Role: Assault DMR, designed to be used aggressively at close range while permitting the user to provide long-range support.
SMGs (Classwide rework) Role: SMGs put holes in targets, not through them. SMGs have been largely replaced by Rifles in modern warfare, the same should apply to Helldivers. This shouldn’t make the useless, but instead good at different things. SMGs should be suited to personal defense and reliability under a wider variety of circumstances than rifles. SMGs have classwide damage nerf to reflect their lower caliber and have very noticeable damage falloff. However, they get a buff in every other area, with the most notable being that each SMG carries 12 mags instead of 8. SMGs are still capable of dropping larger targets with one mag, and with their lower recoil, they can reliably do so. But are now better suited to protecting the user from groups of weaker enemies.
Defender, 40 DMG, 720 RPM, 5 recoil, 12 Mags, Lightning fast reload Role: User-friendly and economical weapon, very easy to use. Less power than assault rifles but puts rounds where they need to be. Lore: The original Defender SMG was actually a failure, being prohibitively expensive to produce both the weapon and its ammo. Although it was a very popular weapon during peacetime, the demands of the war have made the defender a rare sight. To ensure that SEAF forces had a reliable weapon for CQC, the Defender A2 has been put into production. High command has changed its standard handgun cartridge from the .43 Hawk Tungsten core AP round to the cheaper 8mm FMJ round. The new defenders have an increased rate of fire and are more controllable but lacks the stopping power of the original.
Knight, 35 Damage, 900RPM Full auto, 1300rpm burst, 8 Recoil, 12 mags Role: PDW, Delivers a torrent of rounds quickly and accurately. Burst fire is ideal for mid-range enemies, full auto puts down groups of lightly armored enemies. Lore: The A4 knight variant features an electrically operated feed instead of a gas-operated one. This has enabled the weapon to fire at a more controllable rate in full auto while preserving medium-range accuracy with a 1300rpm hyperburst. It has also been outfitted with a less powerful round that is lighter and more economical, improving total ammo carried and recoil control at the cost of stopping power.
Shinobi(New) 50 DMG, 540RPM, 25 Round mag, Silenced Role: Spec-ops SMG for quietly dispatching groups of unarmored enemies. Less effective than other options in a firefight but perfect for sneaking around
Sweeper(New) 40 DMG, 800RPM, 80 Round drum, 8 mags, terrible ergonomics Role: Space Tommy gun, this weapon is designed to put as many rounds as possible down range as fast as possible, where said rounds land is irrelevant. Ammo hungry but very mobile.
I am aware these changes are extensive and won’t likely be implemented. I don’t believe that every weapon should be OP or god tier, but they should all have some niche where they really excel. Have a nice day and good luck Helldivers.

2024.05.13 20:07 Vanquish383 I'm lvl 250: pistols and non-automatic rifles seem useless

Hello everyone, Today I was trying to switch build from automatic rifle to "Gunslinger" or non-automatic rifle builds.
Despite I was using the right perks (rifleman, gunslinger, science, etc) weapons seems doing no damage compared to the automatic weapons.
They are slower (obviously less fire rate) and damage per shot is practically the same. So it is quite obvious they are doing no damage compared to automatic guns.
I tried ballistic and energy rifles. I don't like "fancy guns" like plasma or alien weapons. I like the feeling of the: 100mm pistol, crusader, energy pistol, CircuitBreaker, Gauss rifle (this should one shot anything, but it doesn't), handmade, lever rifle... None of them feels "right". They are not doing enough damage.
I played a lot on destiny 2, where you can use handguns (which I love) that have big firepower and decent fire rate or also SMG with high fire rate and very decent damage.
Am I missing something?

Dev's comment: As announced at the end of April, Erangel Classic makes its comeback with Update 29.2. We've redesigned the old Erangel map, providing players a chance to relive their memories, all while embracing the game's modern enhancements. While realistic recoil adds to the game's distinctive charm, it has posed a challenge for newcomers. With the gunplay reminiscent of the past, we hope Erangel Classic will evoke memories of the early PUBG days.

World: Rondo

※ The following features are available only in Rondo.

New Item: Zipline Gun

https://preview.redd.it/cgmsrxlx650d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=1cf710bdb86a39a6186f1d8932205baedc5f77e4
Meet the Zipline Gun, a zippy new travel tool that lets you navigate Rondo in a whole new way.
  • Inventory slot: Secondary Weapons
  • Ammo: Zipline Gun Cable
    • Weight: 2
    • Reload time: 3 seconds
    • World spawns along with the Zipline Gun.

  • To deploy a zipline using the Zipline Gun, launch the cable sequentially to any two points of your choice.
  • Ziplines can be placed on buildings, terrain, and stationary, indestructible objects.
    • Cannot be placed on characters, vehicles, Care Packages, or water.
    • Cannot be installed if there are objects in the cable launch path or if the two points are in opposite directions.
  • An installed zipline can be used up to four times.
  • The Zipline Gun cannot be used inside a vehicle.
  • Interacting with an installed zipline will enable you to move in the direction you're facing.
    • Mid-journey release can be initiated by hitting the Interaction key again.
    • When multiple players use a zipline, you can only move in the same direction as the player already using it, and you'll wait to prevent overlapping.
    • SMGs or Handguns can be used while riding the zipline.
  • You can use the Limited Interaction key to retrieve cables installed by yourself or other players.
  • When a cable has been installed at the first point, jumping off a cliff, colliding with or riding a vehicle, swapping/unequipping the weapon, or rotating beyond a specific angle will retrieve the cable.
  • The travel speed depends on the slope of the zipline.
  • Can be stored in the trunk of a vehicle.
  • If a vehicle collides with an installed zipline, the zipline will be destroyed.
  • Installed ziplines are not destroyed by explosions.
  • World spawns.
  • Available in Normal Match and Custom Match.
Dev's comment: Open up a whole new dimension of map navigation and engagement with Rondo's latest addition, the Zipline Gun. Locations that were previously difficult to reach can now be infiltrated and ambushed via a zipline deployed at your chosen spot. We hope that the introduction of the Zipline Gun will allow for a broader array of strategies and engagements in Rondo, ultimately enriching the game's meta with increased diversity.

New Feature: Win Streak Showdown

Introducing Win Streak Showdown, where premade teams compete in Normal Match for achievements beyond the Chicken Dinner.
https://preview.redd.it/91ragzly650d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=6035b0e2043c6df807b429970982625846777912

How to Participate

  • Enable the Win Streak Showdown option located under the Select Game Mode panel in the Play - Normal tab.
    • A premade team is required to enable Win Streak Showdown.
    • You cannot invite or join teammates while Win Streak Showdown is in progress.
    • Only Quick Join is available.
    • Win streak will reset if you deactivate Win Streak Showdown.
  • Win Streak Showdown can still be continued when a teammate leaves, even if there is only one remaining player on the team.
  • Once all teammates are ready, Win Streak Showdown matchmaking begins to search for opponents. When an opposing team is found, Normal Match matchmaking will begin.
    • Canceling matchmaking after the opposing team has been found will result in an automatic loss and reset the win streak.

Rules

  • The result of Win Streak Showdown is determined by the sum of your Kill points and Placement points earned from the match.
    • You will earn one point per kill, with additional points awarded based on the team's placement.
  • Both teams' scores in real-time are displayed in the top left corner of the screen.
  • When your entire team is eliminated, you have the option to spectate the opposing team.
  • The Win Streak Showdown result is available in the lobby after the match.
  • You cannot proceed to the next Win Streak Showdown match until the outcome has been decided.
  • If the next Win Streak Showdown match is not completed within 2 hours of achieving at least 1 win, the Win Streak Showdown will end.
    • The team will be retained but your win streak will reset.

Rewards

  • You're automatically rewarded for your win streak at the end of the match, and details can be found on the Match Results page.
  • The rewards for each consecutive win can only be earned once every 7 days, and your reward history and win streak will reset every Wednesday 12 AM (UTC).
  • Achieving a win streak and placing first in the same match will grant Perfect Match rewards.
    • Perfect Match reward is obtainable maximum three times per week.
Dev's comment: Until this point, the primary objective has been securing that Chicken Dinner, yet in reality, only a select few players achieve this goal in each match. Introducing the Win Streak Showdown feature, we aim to provide the majority of players who don't clinch the Chicken Dinner with a fresh, rewarding new pursuit: the win streak. Pursue consecutive victories, enhance your skills and teamwork, and reap rewards, all while vying for the Chicken Dinner!

Arcade

※ The following updates apply to Custom Match as well.

Team Deathmatch

  • New Map: Liana
    • Introducing Liana, our latest map exclusively designed for Team Deathmatch! Designed to promote diverse combat opportunities, Liana caters to an array of gunplay styles. • Several elevated areas, including most rooftops, are inaccessible.
  • Respawning in unfavorable locations has been improved.
  • Two new Rondo maps – Warehouse and Suburbia – have been added.
  • The Field and Shipyard maps, identified as having high leave rates, have been removed.
  • Map selection probabilities have been readjusted in alignment with these changes.

Intense Battle Royale

  • Random maps where Safe Zones, vehicles, and Supply Drops spawn differently compared to existing maps have been added.
    • Random maps and existing maps will each make up 50% of the total map appearances.
  • Maximum number of players: 16 → 20
  • Two new Rondo areas added.
Dev's comment: We launched Intense Battle Royale with the hope that it would live up to its name, offering an intense gameplay experience for Battle Royale enthusiasts. However, as time passed since its initial release and players grew familiar with each map, the intensity and randomness that makes Battle Royale so appealing seemed to fade. With this update, we're injecting a dose of randomness by incorporating random maps into Intense Battle Royale. This addition of unpredictability aims to revive the freshness of each gameplay session.

Meet the Zipline Gun, a zippy new travel tool that lets you navigate Rondo in a whole new way.

  • Inventory slot: Secondary Weapons
  • Ammo: Zipline Gun Cable
    • Weight: 2
    • Reload time: 3 seconds
    • World spawns along with the Zipline Gun.
    • The Zipline Gun cannot be used without the Zipline Gun Cable.

In-Game Challenges

To make teamwork easier, we're improving In-game Challenges based on player feedback.

  • From the challenge list shown on the left side of the world map, you can now share challenges with your teammates via Radio Message.
  • Challenges cannot be shared while spectating.

World Misc.

  • Removed the Ducati containers from starting islands.

New Feature: Win Streak Showdown

Introducing Win Streak Showdown, where premade teams compete in Normal Match for achievements beyond the Chicken Dinner.

Players will encounter a complex network of intersecting routes, bridging varied locations such as the outskirts with a sea view, wide roads, Underpass, Studio, Cafe, Midway, and more.

QoL

The Team Emote feature has been renamed to Group Emote and now offers broader interaction possibilities. Enjoy emotes with even more players!

      • Some group emotes do not support the 'Watch Group Emote' feature.
  • The Action Wheel slots for Emotes and Sprays have increased from 2 to 10.
  • Interaction range: 6m → 10m
  • There is no limit on the number of participants for Group Emote.

2024.05.12 04:39 pxmdash Unrest (1)

Our long story begins with the near collapse of the ancient United States of America. – April 10th 2002 CCE Congressman Lincoln Representative of Alabama, 5th District. – Three months, three fucking months. That's how long I got to stay as majority leader of my party in Congress, and now everything has gone to shit. It was April 10th, 2002. The perennial plants that my wife had planted the year before were blooming very prettily. I was back in my home district for the weekend, visiting some old friends and doing some public relations work. I walked into my old study in my house. The smell of old law books hit me hard, and the wave of nostalgia hit just as hard. I went over and plopped into my seat. I threw my briefcase up onto my desk and pulled out my laptop and state issued phone. Even on my vacation days, I still had work to do. As I opened my laptop, my phone began to buzz. I looked down, and the presidential seal filled up my phone screen and under it was a little message that read “Urgent call. Direct line to POTUS”. This worried me, as the majority whip in the House of Rep. I had personally informed the president of my little break from Congress. He had no reason to contact me, not when he should have been working on reelection campaign endorsements. I took one deep breath, picked up the phone and put it to my ear. “Hello Fredrick, I need to call in that one favor you promised me.” He chuckled “Good Afternoon, Mr. President. What do you need?” I said happily, trying to disguise my disgust. For all of my years in Congress, he had kept blackmailing me. And now he was setting me free, as long as I did one last favor. “You know what's coming up this next election cycle, we are going to lose our power in both chambers.” He laughed a bit, “We need to cause a bit of ruckus, find for all of our colleagues to stay in office.” “I understand, Mr. President, what exactly do you need me to do?” I asked cautiously. “I had one of my advisors write something into a quite simple bill, and that allows us to disregard the votes of any state in federal elections. We will be controlling the elections until someone finds out” He stated menacingly. “But Mr. President, what happens if someone does find out. Both of our heads will roll.” I plead with him. I knew nothing could change his mind, and it was too late. “If push comes to shove, and you get sued, bring that case all the way to the supreme court. They will make sure it gets upheld.” He said. You could nearly feel him smiling sinisterly. I shook my head, there was no way this man wasn't written by a comic book artist. The supreme court for the past 50 years had slowly become filled with lackeys for my party, which also happened to be the party of the current president. “Yes Mr. President. I understand.” I muttered, pushing down the bile, as if my body was physically rejecting betraying my people. Not only that, but I knew what had to be done. I hadn't let my morals interfere with everything I'd done so far. I knew that after death, the only thing that awaited me would be a room in hell. I might as well become a legend down there. I pulled the phone away from my ear. As I took a deep breath in, my mind kept on racing. I was going to have to keep this relatively contained. I pulled my laptop closer to myself and opened it. Sitting in my inbox in my email was the article that the president wanted me to add. “The validity of votes in federal elections shall be decided by the United States Department of State. The decision that is put forth shall not be questioned. Any elected officials that bring forth arguments of the legality of this bill once passed shall be tried for treason in federal court.” “Holy hell” I whispered to myself. There was no way this bill could be passed if people read it. That left me with one choice. To cause a distraction so big that once the bill that I used to disguise this article reached Congress, no one would look twice before signing it. I had a few ideas. None of them legal. My first call would have to be with an Iraqi contact. An American deserter whom I’d done a favor for. He has abandoned post during a guard shift to go smoke with the locals. While he was high, he got into an argument with one of them. He fired his handgun and injured the guy. He ran away and called me. At the time, I was a pretty corrupt politician at the time, and he knew me as a family friend who had some federal jurisdiction over the base he was at. I got someone to smuggle him out of the area he was serving in and brought him to Iraq. He then became my weapons guy. The guy I would call when one of the presidents needed a ceasefire to boost ratings. The guy I would call when we needed to cause a ruckus. His name was Micheal Roans. A good man turned towards a dark path by mistake. My second message was to my Media Contact. She controlled the biggest conservative and liberal new stations in the country. And de facto, I controlled both of those stations. A very useful tool for a party in a democratic state. The only contact between me and her personally was emails containing “Stand-by” indicating I had information for her. All highly important information was handed over through my assistance by hard drive. You never could be too careful. I looked around my study. I then swiveled around in my chair to face the window overlooking my yard. The trampoline we got years ago stood abandoned and covered in leaves. The pool cover was as moldy as ever. I wondered how much worse their condition would deteriorate once I became too busy to send someone to clean the place up at least once a year. How much worse would it be once I was gone. It's never a good idea to think about what might happen when you're gone. So I stood up and pulled the blinds down. I then walked opposite the room to the entrance and brightened the room using the dimmers. It truly was going to be a nightmare for these next few weeks. I then walked back and sat down. I sighed and rubbed my eyes. Not only that, but I could nearly feel the headaches that were about to come. I hate to repeat myself, I just have to reiterate that I just knew that something horrible was coming, and I would be the man signing it off. Maybe this President’s plot would fall short, and I would be brought before Congress and the American people on my knees. Or may his plot and whatever he was planning would work, and I would have been the man who set America on fire.

Kill la kill: I spit on your grave (Part 39: The action figures vs the big rat boss)

We were all pushed out of Andy's car when Andy and his mother saw the 12-foot muscular rat monster created by Boomstick trudging before us holding a stop sign as a weapon. He didn't intend this but now we had no time to talk about it. We have a monster to slay. The big rat monster was coming up to the gas station to where we were, and it towered over us. It saw us ready to strike so we prepared to fight it!
Ryuko: I'm ready to slay this bi-ch! Who's ready!
Isaac: Je suis prete!
Woody: Ah! Oh no! We are gonna die!
Buzz: Don't say that cowboy! My laser has been turned from stun to kill!
Woody: Oh great, you're gonna blink the monster to death!
The monster charged at us and we all got out of the way. Woody screamed while running, hiding another car. The rat monster wasn't tall enough that it needed to crouch down to get under the canopy, so it walked right in chasing after Woody. Woody hid under a car but the rat monster slapped the car and it flew off into the bushes outside in the dark! Woody now exposed screamed in terror before I ran up behind it and started slashing it's back and tail with my new red and white scissor blade, Joyeuse. I rapidly cut it six times before it spun around and flung me back! I quickly turned around in midair and landed feet first against the gas station's window before jumping off back at the monster which was now going to attack Buzz and Isaac!
Isaac: You don't scare me, monsteur!
It slammed it's stop sign into the floor, shattering it near Buzz and Isaac, knocking both back and down. Isaac hopped back up and quickly jumped onto it's stop sign as it rose it, running up the weapon he activated his plasma saw and jumped off and cut deep into the monster's wrist before pulling it out! Blood gushed upwards like a geyser for a few seconds before the monster tried to use it's other hand to smash Isaac, but he dashed out of the way! Buzz was seen back on his feet firing his ineffective toy laser at it's face before I made contact with it again!
Both me and Isaac now on the big rat monster slashed it with our weapons eleven times before it began slamming it's stop sign into the concrete floor, shattering it more and more! It slammed down four times trying to get us off. As we were fighting it, Woody turned to see a lost credit card on the floor, he got an idea from it. He picked it up and ran over to a gas pump where he stuck it into the slot, pulled it out and began to order some gas.
Woody: Buzz! Go inside and get a lighter!
Buzz: You sure that fuel is flammable?
Woody: Yeah! Just do it!
Buzz ran over to the front door of the gas station which opened momentarily as the gas station clerk was running out to escape, allowing an opening for buzz to get in. He climbed the counter and found a small matchbook, taking it out he saw Woody pressing the button on the pump to get premium gas with an octane rating of 93.
Woody: I'm gonna set it on fire! I'll need your help spraying it with the nozzle!
Buzz: I've got burning sticks!
Woody: Matches! Those will work!
Meanwhile, while Buzz and Woody were planning to set the monster on fire, me and Isaac were at the rat monster's chest slashing it sixteen times over in rapid swings with our powerful weapons! The rat suddenly pushed us back and we landed next to a gas pump before it slammed it's stop sign onto the concrete floor again almost hitting us, shattering more of the concrete floor and severely bending the stop sign. The red stop sign then broke off and it was just left with a pole.
Ryuko: Buzz! Woody! Look out!
The rat monster turned it's attention to Buzz and Woody who were now taking the nozzle and ready to spray the monster! The monster slammed the pole down onto the broken concrete floor next to them twice, creating sparks! Woody and Buzz were able to dodge it holding the nozzle before it turned towards me and Isaac! It slammed it's pole a mere millimeter from me, causing me to fly up and then it hit me in midair, sending me flying away from the gas station, I screamed before hitting the sidewalk.
Ryuko: Ouch! Sh-t! What the?
When I got up, I saw two police cars and a SWAT truck approaching. I looked over to see the fight continue! Isaac was dodging the monster swinging it's pole at him. He moved with incredible speed and grace as Woody and Buzz were now spraying the rat monster with high octane gasoline on it's legs and foot!
Woody: Isaac! Don't step in the gasoline!
Isaac: I'm trying to avoid it!
When the police arrived, the monster noticed them and their blinking red and blue lights, the cops got out with guns drawn firing at it. It shrugged off their small caliber rounds before the armored SWAT officers emerged from their trucks with M-16s, opening fire on it, this hurt the monster more but angered it! It used it's pole to impale a gas pump and use it as a hammer after ripping it out of the ground! Buzz and Woody were still spraying the monster before it took off running at the police, smashing the officers into bloody chunks!
SWAT officer: Officer down! Multiple officers down! We need backup immediately!
The rat monster flung the gas pump off of it's pole into the squad of SWAT officers, knocking them all down before it picked up the SWAT truck and smashed them with it!
Woody: I'm gonna toss the match!
Woody ran up behind the fuel-doused monster with the matchbook and lit a match to throw onto the rat monster, engulfing it's legs in flames! It screeched and squealed as it burned! Throwing it's pole like a spear through a police car's window, as more police cars approached I ran back up and went over to a damaged police car, I ran up the surface and jumped onto the face of the monster where I climbed onto it's snout and stabbed Joyeuse into it's snout, through the bone, pulling it out and doing it again! I kept doing it before finally I cut it's snout off! I jumped onto the top of it's head as blood gushed out of it's stumped severed snout. As the police backup arrived, more cops fired onto the beast and I jumped off onto another gas pump. I then jumped up onto the underside of a canopy, cutting into it, I found a cable which I cut, pulled down and tied a noose with it. The rat monster flailed it's arms around as it was being peppered with small caliber handgun fire but I came down just at the right time to wrap the cable noose around the monster's neck and even getting it's right wrist caught in it too. I climbed back up the cable to the underside of the canopy and opened my guitar case on my back again, which I pulled out my original red scissorblade.
Ryuko: I'm gonna do to you what I'm gonna do to Wiz and Boomstick! F-cker!
I used both scissorblade to stab into the underside of the canopy, pull one out at a time and stick it back in ahead of me, basically turning the canopy into monkey bars until I got a few feet away from it. Once at a distance I stabbed my scissorblade deep into the canopy and ripped it open, pulling the other end of the cable down.
I jumped down using the handles of my scissor blades to pull the cable down all the way to the cracked floor, at this point, I can now pull the cable and bash the rat monster against the canopy!
Isaac: What are you doing with that cable?
Woody: It's done we gotta go!
Ryuko: No. Watch this! This is what I'm gonna do to Wiz and motherf-cking Boomstick for ruining my life! And to the ringmaster too for f-cking raping me in the bathroom!
Letting go of my scissor blades, I grabbed the cable and began to pull the cable, quickly pulling the big, burning rat-beast up and bashing it's head against the ceiling! I bashed it's head once, then twice, then three times, then more and more! I kept doing this as the police officers fired onto the flaming injured rat-Zuko hybrid monster.
Eventually, the paneling holding the cable gave way and I couldn't bash it anymore. I picked up Joyeuse and my original red scissorblade and ran back towards it, jumping above the flames I landed on it's head and stuck my new scissorblade into it's skull, ready to activate it's release form.
Ryuko: Joyeuse! Activate!
A flurry of snow erupted! Freezing the police officers around us instantly and freezing half of the monster before the monster used it's free left arm to slam down onto the concrete floor so hard, it exposed the giant fuel tank under the gas station. It slammed it's fist down onto the fuel tank, causing it to explode, blowing up the entire gas station! The canopy was completely destroyed in a fiery explosion as me, Isaac, Woody and Buzz were thrown high into the sky! We all screamed being thrown up by the explosion. The explosion killed the rat monster luckily but we were airborne!
Woody: Ah!
Buzz: To infinity and beyond!
Isaac: Sacre!
Ryuko: Ah hahahahahahaha! The bastard is dead! Look! Pizza planet!
From above, we saw pizza planet, it wasn't too far away, but as we fell, we began to descend down at an angle towards it. We got closer and closer before we all landed in the parking lot. Me, Isaac and Buzz landed on our feet as Isaac caught the screaming Woody. Woody was hyperventilating for a moment before he regained his composure.
Woody: Huh? Pizza planet! We're saved! This is great. We'll find Andy here... Or maybe not.

2024.05.09 20:14 prof_the_doom Primary/Secondary Weapon Balancing Recommendations

So, since the idea is that weapons are supposed to be side-grades/thematic, here's some of my thoughts on how they can do that better.
ARs
Handguns
SMGs and Shotguns are in fairly good places right now, so until they add something new, nothing to do there.
The energy weapons - I don't use them much, but aside from the new one probably needing more damage on overload mode, I think they're in a decent spot.

2024.05.08 00:15 KayleeSinn Units that you thought were good but constantly underperform and visa versa.

Just wondering if anyone has these. Like stats look good and you can't wait to use them but when you actually try them out, they perform like garbage and even if you try to get them to work, you usually cant. Likewise, the opposite. Poor stats, high tier, low model count .. anything that caused you to avoid them but when you finally did, they were amazing.
So here's mine. there is some subjective opinions here, so be warned. For example I don't like micro and tend to avoid micro heavy units or just be lazy and use them as archers/leave them in combat, so I won't list them here as I'm probably not using them right. I
Underperformers
-Gunnery Mob (Handcannons). More than double damage and identical stats to the handgun variant other than range but I never get much use out of these. Short range means they have to be on the move(and they're slow) or end up tanking and in practice, I never got as much use out of these and ended up not using them.
-Cannons (carronades, empire great cannons etc.). They usually get ranked above mortars in most tier list and usually need higher tier buildings but I always found them trash and mostly only get mortar type artillery. They miss too much and can't shoot over walls.
-Warhound type units. Legend and others usually rate these over bats and harpies and they do get a lot of value vs early game low armored units but again, when facing walls or enemy archers or cavalry that can cut them off, they're nowhere as good as trash flying unit for taking out enemy artillery
-Dragons. Found them disappointing trash. High upkeep, the breath attacks have limited uses and hit like a wet noodle and if I leave them in combat with anything, even a single stack of trash tier pikemen, they melt away. Yes this can happen to other expensive units but usually at least enough of them survive to run away so you won't completely lose the unit.
-Rattling guns. Get praised to high heavens and if you can get them firing, they clear enemy infantry on open fields like nothing but again, they have very limited use. Infantry already has tons of counters, like say poison wind mortars and catapults. Next to useless in sieges, slow, lower range than most archers so can easily die and surprisingly trash vs single entities. You would expect more considering their stats, so are the numbers lying? 400-1000 damage per unit yet they waste all their ammo trying to take down a treeman? If the tooltip was true, they could be doing up to 32k damage every 10 seconds but in reality, it's just not happening.
-Chameleon Skinks. Constantly get less out of then from regular skins with javelins. Low range, low HP, get into melee all the time or get return fire or just refuse to fire due to low firing arc.
Overperformers
-Deepguards (dual wield). LoTW listed these as trash in one of hes tier list videos and they're expensive. I also tried them a few times with little success because AI likes to focus them down with ranged and artillery too much however I was not using them right. They are amazing infantry grinders and having 2 stacks of them in the army works wonders after changing my approach. I keep them at the back now, protecting artillery and deckgunners where they do excellently. They also work great for taking the walls after nuking down enemy archers first as well as when mixed in with rotting prometheans and on flanks.
-Skink Cohorts (Javelins). Amazing unit that lasts well into late game if you invest in them. Cheap, easy to replace, holds the line really well and does a lot of damage to the enemy when they're closing in. They also have shields so can handle ranged fire well enough.
-Tree Kin. I never recruited these in Alarielle campaign. The first unit she starts with was meh.. but then again, she doesn't have the red line skills and research to boost them. They get absurdly tanky and despite being low entity count and large units, my archers can stay behind then and fire at whatever they're fighting with surprisingly low friendly fire.
-Not an unit but lore of beasts in general. Flock of Doom is OP. Cheap low damage vortex with huge area that enemies can't move out of. Did over 60k damage with this in the last battle with a level 4 caster. Hundreds of kills too. Other lores can get strong AoE spells too but they're not nearly as versatile. They can move away in a wrong dimensions or enemies just don't feel like clumping or lining up and they come in way too late.

2024.05.06 12:32 firststate $1500 Budget for plate carrier and rest of kit.

Hey everyone. Just found the sub and started reading through the stickies. Looking for suggestions on a plate carrier setup. Current LEO in a unit that works in the office during the week. Kit will be for planned search warrant executions (that don’t meet the threshold for SWAT) or active scenes. This setup will not be worn for extended periods of time.
Budget is around $1500. Looking for Level 3+ or higher plate ratings. I’d like to carry 3 rifle mags and 2 handgun mags, an IFAK (secondary) in addition to the one issued by my department which is just hooked on via a carabiner, an extra tourniquet etc. Each of my weapons systems has a WML but obviously I’d like room for a flashlight. Issued soft armor will be worn underneath. Obviously because I won’t be wearing this all day weight isn’t a huge concern, however I’d like to be able to get it on quickly when deploying it. I also need to be able to display agency patches on the front and rear.
I currently don’t own anything so an all in one solution would work or I can begin sourcing items from different manufacturers to begin piecing the kit together. Look forward to the discussion. Thanks all.
Final Decision:
Crye JPC 2.0 Medium
Highcom 3S9M 10x12
Unobtanium Sleds AVS
Unobtanium 3x pistol
Ferro Mini Dangler (unsure on how I feel about dangler vs cumberbund mount but people seem to really like ambi accessible danglers)
IFAK supplies from North American Rescue

2024.05.05 08:15 mclarke77 The Wall

I’m trapped. I can hear that thing lumbering through the hallway. My God, what the hell is it?The soft scratching of my pencil sounds deafening in the quiet of this tiny closet. I’m almost certainly gonna die in this place. I just hope someone can find this, maybe it will do some good. Or maybe it already doesn’t matter. I’m not sure how long I have until that wheezing thing finds me. Oh Jesus, or that grey stuff might ooze under the door and dissolve me. Oh my God! What it did to Benny, Sammy, Jonesy and Donald! To all of them! Even if I don’t survive, the world needs to be warned!

Long story short, I was a cop but I got shot in the head. The doctors said I was lucky, that it went straight through without hitting anything vital. However, I still needed three steel plates to hold my skull together. Also ended up with permanent tremors in my right hand and a nasty scar just under my eye. So, it’s no surprise that my cop career didn’t thrive. Just a year later I was a “retired” 45-year-old cop, living off scraps. After a few months, I started to get desperate for work. One evening while out with my friend, Graham, he mentioned something about some private research institute in the Mojave Desert. “What, are they still blowing A-bombs out there?” I scoffed, eyebrows arched with bemused incredulity. Graham stared down at his beer, “Not sure what the hell they do. But they pay super well, so who cares,” he took a long sip of beer, foam clinging to his lips, “I think it would be a good fit for you”.

Turns out this facility, and it really is known as the “Facility”, was located in the middle of nowhere. When I looked it up I couldn’t find any information at all. Later that week I called the number that Graham had scrawled down for me on a beer stained napkin. My right hand wasn’t good with delicate tasks so when I dialed the number I had to use my left hand. The phone rang twice before a metallic voice answered and said to hold for an operator. After a few seconds of muted elevator music, I spoke to a soft voiced woman who told me my skill set was perfect for their current vacancy: a security management position. Her voice was soothing, “Your credentials are excellent. If you like I can fax some forms and a draft contract over, and we can pay for you to fly on up to see us in person. I’m certain you’ll get offered the job.”

She was right. One flight and several NDAs later, I was employed again! By the time I started my new job I realized I had no idea what research went on down here. During the interviews my duties as a security manager had been discussed but any mention of their actual research interests had been carefully omitted. On my first day I asked others about the nature of the Facility’s research, but no one had any interest. “Just stick to your contract. No point in rockin’ the boat,” my new boss, Sammy, said to me curtly. I’ve not discussed it since.

The part of the Facility which I managed was section B.15. This area was located several hundred feet below the sun scorched surface of the Mojave Desert. It comprised many green corridors peppered with tall wide doors made from dark, stainless steel. The rooms inside were large and sterile. Of course, whether or not we wanted to know the nature of the research, after patrolling some of the research labs for weeks, it wasn’t hard to figure out that the scientists were mostly archeologists. Or maybe paleontologists. I often found different objects lying around in various states of cleanliness. Some looked like ancient amphoras, or large stone bird baths or even fossilized remains. Others were less identifiable: a melted lump of some glimmering metal or large chunks of a glass-like material. I found this all extremely curious because, as far as I knew, the Mojave Desert didn’t have much in the way of ancient architecture. At least of any ancient civilization that I know.

As the months went by I started to get friendly with the other guards, most of them ex-cops too, and we played cards and drank Irish coffee in the evenings. My two main colleagues consisted of a jovial, short man with orange hair named Jonesy and a much older much grumpier and much balder man, Donald. They were good men and we had a lot of laughs together. My stomach twists when I think about where they are now. Though I grew fonder of my fellow guards, I found myself developing a severe dislike for the researchers. Most of them were mean and arrogant. The only scientist my security buddies liked was a scrawny guy named Benny. Our favorite thing about Benny was that he never talked about his work.

It was earlier, at 1400h, when all the scientists were running from their rooms. They must have received some message a few minutes before and we watched them from the surveillance monitors as they got all excited, their lab coats flapping and flowing as they made for the stairs. Soon after this, the large red landline phone near my desk began to ring. Expecting the call, I picked up the receiver before the first ring finished, “Hey boss, what’s all the excitement about?” Sammy’s voice was uncharacteristically anxious, “The diggers have found a friggin’ huge object out here! The biggest thing they’ve ever dug up. They want to bring it to B.15 so I need you to organize the logistics and security”. My brow furrowed, “I guess it’s too big for the main entrance? Maybe we could bring it in via the big doors of the auxiliary hangar?” she grunted with agreement, “Yea, we’ll have to improvise a bit but should be manageable. I’ll get some of the boys from B.10 and B.14 to help you out.” I nodded, “Thanks, see you soon”

Donald, Jonesy, some interns and I had coffee in the office and called the guards at the hangar doors to arrange clearance. About an hour later we met the guards from B.10. and B.14, together we climbed the many stairs to the hangar and waited for the cargo to arrive. The massive metal hangar doors had been opened, which was rare. What was more irregular was that nearly every staff member from sections B.09 to B.18 were all gathered together in a silent knot of people. Despite the silence the air sizzled with anticipation, as well as the searing heat. I stood transfixed from curiosity, waiting in the shade of the doorway as the relentless sun beat down outside. I squinted. In the distance I saw a black speck grow larger against the bright blue sky. Slowly it took the form of a helicopter with an enormous rectangular shaped mass dangling below it.

Within less than a minute the helicopter made its cacophonous approach toward the hangar and gently lowered the object onto a wide wooden scaffold. I barked orders and signed forms as the guards rushed about. The air was blaring with the sound of helicopter blades and sand rocketed into my face, forcing me to splutter. “Alright, let’s get this thing processed!” I yelled over the sound of the helicopter as its engines powered down. My colleagues and I wiped dirt from our faces. Sammy emerged swiftly from the chopper and shook my hand. Her hair was in its characteristic librarian-bun but her eyes were glassy. Had she been drinking? We quickly reviewed the paper work she gave me and then she made her way back downstairs to her office in section B.1. She was keen to get away for some reason.

As my colleagues cleared away most of the staff and the excitement died down I was finally able to take a moment to inspect the object. It had been lowered onto a wooden scaffold fitted with wheels and had been pushed slowly into the center of the hangar. The few aircraft in this hangar were all currently under repairs, leaving plenty of space for the object.

The object was a wall. It was rectangular and about twenty-five feet long, ten feet thick and twelve feet high. The wall first appeared made from boring grey stone. I even remember thinking, “It’s not even that big”. However, when I looked closer it was, alive. I barely noticed the helicopter take off and leave as I saw the wall’s surface bubble. The hangar doors began to close as the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. A bead of sweat ran down my cheek and I thought I heard something. It sounded like someone far away calling my name. I felt a strange pressure around my head. A sudden invasive thought dug into my mind: throw yourself into the wall. I shuddered and held myself back despite the sudden strong desire. I heard the faint voice of Benny and crashed back to reality. My eyes snapped open and I found my nose an inch away from the wall. It radiated cold like an open freezer and it smelled like rotten clay. The surface of the wall simmered ever so slightly. It reminded me of the fizz of some grey effervescent medicine. I paled as I took a large step backward, “I.. uh, what is this?” I turned to face Benny who stood with another scientist. He glanced at her briefly before he approached the wall, “Honestly, we have no idea”.

I got Donald and Jonesy to help Benny transport the wall down to room 278B via the service elevator. Donald grumbled, “Guh, this thing smells like something my dog puked up”. Meanwhile Jonesy stared with eyes as large as saucers, “It looks so cool!” Once downstairs, I told Donald and Jonesy to take some forms to the admin department and I returned alone to my office to get some more coffee and file away the rest of the paperwork. I tried to put the strangeness of the wall out of my mind, but it had truly unnerved me. I felt so tired. As I sat at my desk facing the surveillance monitors I was unable to fight the force fusing my eyelids together.

I’ve been hungover a lot, but when I woke up at my desk I’d never felt quite so singularlyawful. My clothes were soaked with sweat and my whole body felt exhausted. My arms felt like molasses. My forehead throbbed and I was bruised. I also felt a weird pressure squeezing my head from all sides. I sat back in my seat and rubbed my eyes.

Then I froze.

A hand was lying motionless on the floor just behind the table at the center of the room. I leapt to my feet and rushed forward. I gasped from horror as I saw Donald lying there, his chest sliced to ribbons. Gallons of dark scarlet stained his blue uniform. His eyes stared up empty and terrified. Pallid and shaking I ran to my landline to call for backup immediately. As the receiver met my ear my stomach dropped into my feet.

The line was dead.

I was so confused. We had lots of fail safes to ensure communication remained enabled, but the line was dead and there was no sign of any response. I rushed back to the monitors. The cameras were all operating normally. I started to breathe heavily. I couldn’t see anyone. The corridors were green and bare. I looked at the clock. It was 1817h. I had slept for about two hours. But where was everyone? Where were the janitors? My heart was hammering in my chest and my head was throbbing. My eyes narrowed with a sudden thought. Where was that wall?

I searched for the wall and found it was back in the hangar! It sat upon the bare ground right by the massive doors. However, the doors were sealed. The wall itself looked different. It was absolutely enormous! Just over two times longer and taller and wider. Just then, I realized that the titanium blast doors had been sealed as well. My heart rate doubled as I noticed large dents, scorch marks and scratches all over the doors. The hangar floor was covered in blood. My God, I even saw a rocket-launcher lying blackened and fractured near the doors. What the hell had happened?

I spun my head to look at the security panel on the wall to my left. My heart, already racing, felt like it leapt out of my mouth. My eyes grew wide as I realized Donald must have activated a quarantine procedure. This meant that the entire Facility would be sealed airtight. The only way to open any doors now was from the outside. My God! Why had he done this? Where was everyone? Did I really sleep through all this? Where was Jonesy? I looked back at Donald, my heart still racing from seeing his dead eyes stare into mine. I sighed sadly and glanced at the clock on the wall. It was now 1831h. I returned to the monitors and began to rewind the security footage.

Surveying the screens, I watched my past-self enter the security office at around 1600h. By 1610h I had passed-out on my chair, drool dangling from my mouth. “Ok, so let’s see where the wall was at that time. Should be room 278B.” I thought to myself aloud as I clicked on the button that displayed the footage of room 278B and the surrounding corridors. The screens were black as the footage loaded and I was about to hit the play button but hesitated. Did I really want to see this? I closed my eyes and took a few slow breaths. I have to know. I hit play.

The camera was located opposite the door giving a full view of the room. At first everything was normal. It was 1623h when they were unstrapping the wall. A loud popping sound was heard and the researchers spun around. The lights in the room dimmed and flickered. Suddenly something long and slimy exploded from the flesh of the wall. It wrapped around Benny and pulled him in. He screamed in terror as he vanished, his cries immediately silenced.

Without realizing it I was instantly on my feet, shaking my head in pure denial. My heart burst. What the hell was that? What the hell? What the hell? My head was full of static. I felt tears in my eyes as I watched guards and researchers rush into the room. The wall shimmered, it’s simmering surface began to boil and bubble and it grew a few inches higher. I saw it reshape itself so that intricately carved figures appeared on the wall’s edge. I leant in closer and gasped. One of those figures looked just like Benny, his mouth stretched into a permanent scream. The guards and researchers were horrified by what they saw. Suddenly, without warning, their body postures relaxed, their eyes grew glassy, and their arms fell slack at their sides. Those within the room moved as if sleepwalking. Some stayed still while others left the room. Brow furrowed from confusion and fear, my eyes swiveled to the footage of the corridors outside. The guards and researchers that had just exited 278B immediately began attacking and grappling those around them. I yelped as a vacant-eyed guard lazily shot another man in the leg. The thrall then dragged the wounded guard into room 278B. The mad guard held the wounded guard’s leg fast as he casually walked into the grey wall, pulling the struggling man in behind him. During this altercation I noticed Donald, he was hiding behind the corner of the corridor at the far end and was firing his gun at the thralls. He didn’t manage to hit anyone though. He then ran over to help a stray research intern to her feet and then they both ran down the corridor and out of view.

I could still hear the pleas for mercy as those who fell victim to the thralls were dragged into that horrifying wall. With every person it swallowed, the wall wriggled and grew. More ghastly decorations began to bloom on its surface, all of them made from the bones or likenesses of those absorbed. The bigger it got the stronger its psychic influence became until it reached everyone in the Facility. I looked on in horror as one by one, all janitors, researchers, guards, diggers, admin staff, everyone stopped what they were doing, mid conversation, their eyes emptying. The janitors dropped their mops and buckets. Researchers dropped precious materials and equipment without care, letting them smash to pieces. In unison, with vacant expressions, they moved toward room 278B. Among the horde of thralls, I saw Sammy and Jonesy, and so many others I knew. A guy who’d held the door for me once, a researcher who always slurped her coffee at lunch. Hundreds of people! What filled me with an unnamable dread was that I knew what was gonna happen. I knew what was coming. I tried to shout at the monitors, “Stop! Wait!” I grabbed the monitors and shook them with frustration.

A terror began to fill my stomach, deep and cold and aching. Suddenly I noticed Donald reappear on the screen. He was trying to hold back the intern he’d helped earlier, but it was useless. I saw Donald stare with incredulity as he sat defeated on the ground. Everyone else around him stumbled dreamily toward their doom. But Donald refused to give up. I saw him run from corridor to corridor, trying desperately to stop them. He threw chairs and tables in their way but they simply pushed them aside or jumped over them. I saw him run toward this office. I saw him enter, saw myself slumped on my chair still completely unconscious. I saw Donald try to shake me awake, he slapped me a few times and was yelling in frustration. He gave up with me eventually and ran over to activate the quarantine lockdown. I saw him tear down the hall back toward room 278B, pistol in hand.

As soon as Donald got close to 278B a long pale tendril burst through the door directly into his chest. The tentacle had a hooked end and it slashed him. I saw blood spurt out of him, saw him stumble and fall to the ground. However, he still managed to get a hold of his gun and fired multiple shots at the tendril. It writhed and flailed. Donald took this opportunity to climb to his feet. He grimaced and clasped his chest as crimson leaked to the floor. He moved back down the corridor. Eventually he got back to the office. He locked the door and, still fumbling with his keys, attempted to open the ammunitions cupboard. Before he could find the right key, he cursed and then collapsed. I cried out in frustration. That whole time I was completely useless!

My mind felt like static again for a few seconds. I couldn’t work out what my next move should be. A thought hit me hard. Why had Donald and I not been psychically affected by the wall? Everyone had been enslaved. Why not Donald? And me? My eyebrows shot up into my receding hairline with sudden realization. “Shit, the steel plates in my head!” And Donald had a steel plate in his skull too because of a rock-climbing accident he had in his 20s. When I got close to the wall, had it sensed my resistance? Had it tried to incapacitate me? If so, it meant the thing possesses sentience.

While I pondered this, I noticed some thralls re-strap the wall in room 278B. They transported it to the elevator and back up to the hangar. Once there, the thralls moved the wall off the scaffold onto the floor and began to beat heavily on the large metal doors with bare fists. Some even shot at the doors with their handguns. The ricochets killed a few of them but not one single person even noticed. Some of the guards even used a rocket launcher! I yelled with shock as they fired at deadly close range, lazily blowing themselves up, leaving the doors scorched. After this proved futile, the thralls all grew rigid. Next, they all formed a line in front of the wall and one shambling step after another, all the remaining employees were - assimilated. Even the dead and wounded were not spared. Those still alive carried the corpses of their fellow thralls into the wall.

It was 1735h when the last employee disappeared forever into the grey horror, and the wall expanded to its current size. Without warning, a large mass of twisted limbs emerged from the wall. I gasped from horror. Its silhouette was about seven feet tall and thin and stretched. It had too many legs and it didn’t appear to have a head. This thing lumbered over to the doors and began to strike them with a strength and ferocity found only in a starving polar bear. I could tell that the doors were taking strain, and they began to bend, but even then, they did not yield. After just over half an hour of smashing the door, the creature stopped and slowly shambled toward the stairs. My heart froze. It was coming here! Or was it here already? I sat still for a moment and tried not to lose my mind completely. I swear I could hear Woody the woodpecker laughing somewhere in the distance. I needed to keep it together. I took a long deep breath and tried to think of a way out.

Summarizing the details of my predicament, I realized I was trapped alone inside the Facility with an otherworldly force. Also, even if I found a way out, I’d potentially be letting an evil into the world that could destroy all life. My eyes grew even wider and I grabbed at my hair, “But my God, if this thing gets out. If it gets into the minds of other people. If it gets larger and larger. Could it swallow the world?” I was talking aloud now; the sound of my voice gave a new clarity to my situation that made me shudder. I turned back to the monitor. It seems I was all caught up. I stared blankly into the screen while I watched my past-self wake and wince from pain. I switched the monitor off and saw my reflection in the blackness of the screen. I was pale and my eyes were sunken and unblinking. “What do I do now?” I turned in my chair to look at Donald’s body. “Poor Donald, he didn’t deserve this”, I muttered softly. My eyes moved from his body up to the ammunition’s cupboard just above. “Wait, was he trying to get into the cupboard earlier?”, I gasped with realization. “Holy crap, he was trying to get the bomb! Me and Donald were gonna use a left-over bomb from the excavation site to blow some random shit up!”

I stood up quickly and walked up to the cupboard. I opened the cupboard with little effort and found the twenty pounds of plastic explosive inside. It had already been set up with a sixty second timer and a remote detonator. I sat at the table with the explosive, a vague plan forming in my broken mind. “Maybe if I somehow get this wall-thing to eat this bomb then...”

Before I could formulate my thoughts fully, the lights flickered, and the entire Facility was plunged into darkness unceremoniously. My nerves burned with fear. What had happened? Had that thing knocked the power out somehow? The next few seconds that past were the longest I’d ever experienced. Eventually dim green light bloomed to life and the reserve power kicked in. Then I heard slow, shuffling footsteps in the corridor just outside the office. I froze once again, my insides turning to mush. My mind raced. Had I remembered to lock the door? My stomach leapt into my feet as I heard the shuffling get louder and louder. I heard hoarse, wheezing breaths, as if the thing struggled to breathe. I jumped from fright but remained absolutely silent as whatever the thing was banged on the door with a deafening blow.

BANG!

The door shook and bent slightly.

BANG!

Silence.

BANG!

My heart was hammering in my ears and I sat deathly still. I could hear that thing breathing louder. After a few moments I heard it shuffle away. My entire body was shaking as relief washed over me. I turned to look at the screens. Dare I turn them on and check what it was? After a few seconds I turned to the monitors and switched them on. I waited in nervous anticipation as they flickered to life showing me that all the corridors between me and the wall were currently empty. I didn’t bother checking the corridor I suspected the shambling thingwas in. I didn’t want to see it unless I needed to. I’d had just about all the stress and terror I could take and by this stage I felt weirdly calm. It must be shock. A thin sigh escaped me as I stood. The fear in my blood began to feed a furnace of anger in my heart. I thought about all those who I had lost. I felt my expression turn to granite, “It’s time to kill this thing.”

I opened the door slowly, my fully loaded gun in my good hand. Spare ammo along with the explosive and a sawed-off shotgun was stashed in my backpack, and the remote detonator was tied to my belt. I held a heavy-duty flashlight in my shaky right hand. I moved cautiously through the dark green corridors. I’d never thought of how creepy this place could be until this moment. Gooseflesh crept up my arms and neck as I continued. All I could hear were my soft footfalls and shallow anxious breaths. I cleared the corridors one by one until I made it to the stairs. I walked up the stairs carefully. I took one step. Then another. Slowly, I climbed. After many minutes, I was near the hangar. Then I heard the soft sound of crying.

Someone was crying. No. Many people were crying.

I stopped dead in my tracks. My entire body shook from the adrenaline surging through me. Once my head peeked over the top of the landing, I froze. The wall loomed gigantic before me. Its edges were now framed intricately with the skeletons of hundreds of people, all twisted and screaming in agony; tortured souls bound together. I could hear them all. They were all screaming. Screaming for me to join them. I felt that pressure squeeze against my skull tighter and tighter. I shook my head in defiance. “No! You bastard! NO! I will not join you!” All at once the moans and wails stopped. I suddenly found myself at the top of the stairs without knowing when I’d finished climbing them. “But you will” came the sound of hundreds of twisted voices fused into one. “We are them. We are all. We can be all. We will be all. All and all and more than all.”
A deafening blast came from the wall and slithering, tangled human limbs emerged. It had four legs and several arms. It looked like the bodies of eight or more people shuffled and glued into an otherworldly horror. Its multiple mouths screamed a high pitched roar that was pure torment, and its sharp pointed teeth gnashed and chomped. I only had a second to dodge. I leapt to the side and fired multiple shots at the thing’s center of mass. Its horrifying body of fused torsos wriggled and bled black ichor. It screamed with pain and jumped at me, grabbing my leg. It tossed me into the air and I slammed into the floor a few feet away. As I hit the ground I yelled in pain and heard something metallic smash. Before I could catch my breath, it was upon me again. From the ground I fired several shots at it. This made it jump away and scuttle down the stairs. I noticed immediately that the remote detonator had been smashed beyond repair. With the creature momentarily out of sight, I kneeled and took off my backpack as fast as I could. “Only one way then”, I said quietly as I pulled out the bomb and started the timer manually. I also got the shotgun out. I needed to do this now or never.
As the final shell clicked into place I heard a roar coming from the stairs. The thing was back. Before I could react, it leapt at me and knocked me to the ground. The bomb flew from my grasp. It bared down on me, grabbing at my throat ready to tear me apart. My reflexes saved me and I managed to use my shotgun to hold the thing at bay, but it was way too strong. Desperate, I kicked it hard in the chest and it let go. I used this moment to grab the bomb that lay behind me; only 37 seconds to go! Terrified and crazed, sweat pouring down my face, my mind in pieces, I rammed the bomb into one of the creature’s mouths and kicked it back again as hard as I could. I heard it yelp like a wounded dog and it lost its footing. It fell sideways and in that second, I took my shotgun and fired at it in the chest. The force of the close-range blast sent me flying. At the same time the creature was hurled back into the wall where it was enveloped quickly.
My head was fuzzy. I was dizzy and the wind had been knocked out of me. Was the bomb going to work? I felt something warm and wet drip into my ear and touched the side of my head. My fingertips came away soaked in blood. My head was spinning. With a foggy mind I grabbed my bag, collecting my weapons and flashlight. As I stood up I heard a low rumbling sound. The ground beneath my feet shook and for a moment I was confused. Then I looked up at the wall. Its surface was boiling like I’d never seen before. It was shaking and growing. I turned to run when suddenly there was a massive blast, and the entire wall exploded into hundreds of grey chunks. These rained down all around the hangar, smashing several aircrafts. The blast knocked me off my feet.
When I awoke I could see early morning light through the tiny cracks in the blast door. Where the wall had once been now stood a small blackened crater. I coughed and lifted my head to inspect the wall pieces and found that they – my mouth opened. They were melting. I watched in dumbfounded horror as the pieces began to merge, just like that scene from Terminator 2. It was rebuilding itself.
As I stood to run I heard a groan. My blood became ice.

I turned slowly in terror to find the shambling, wheezing monstrosity behind me. Like the creature I’d shot, this one seemed made from bits and pieces of human limbs knitted together randomly. This one had six legs which came out of its mouth, its head positioned within its torso where the bellybutton should be, and it wheezed in pain. I almost puked from fright but my feet were already carrying me away. I sprinted down the corridors, ignoring all the pain and fear and exhaustion and anger and frustration inside me. Without thinking, I leapt into the first janitor’s closet I found and locked the door. After catching my breath, I found this notepad and pencil, and have been writing this report in the sterile glow of my flashlight. Hopefully, I have left some useful information for anyone who may find this.

Now I lie in wait. What is that thing? If it can survive a bomb like that, what hope do we have? It’s no wall at all. It’s a membrane. An interface. Somewhere very different is pressing up against us. It has torn a small hole, and was now prying it open further.

So here I wait, hoping to be saved, but even as I write this I can hear that thing walking past the door. With a soft click I turn off my flashlight. I try not to breathe. I can hear the snuffling, it’s right outside!

Shit! Shit! I hear keys. The door is unlocking! How? How?

Oh God! The doorknob is turning...

2024.05.04 04:16 Striking-Cap-1202 Memoirs of a rotten beginning

Here is some of my story, to help understand what I suffer from? A dr asked if there was anything I could think of that could have caused my depression. I said no, but here are some of my life memories that may have had a play in it. I'm sure many things played a part in my down coming, but I think it only fueled something already broken inside me.
4-5yrs old. My earliest memories.
I heard an adult male voice that would yell at me, very angry, very loud at night when I would use the bathroom. HURRY UP, FASTER, NOW, GO!!! it would rush me.
I seen shadow figures dart down the hallways.
My mom and dad would scream behind closed doors, almost as if mom was screaming for help, but all I could do was beat on the door.
I was thrown outside into the dark night alone and would scream and cry from fear. We had people break into our home through my window while I slept. You can imagine my fear as I stood alone shaking in fear of the unkown outside.
I remember "floating" off of a curb in front of the house.
One night watching tv alone I heard a noise behind the couch, a gremlin like creature jumped out at me when I looked to see, I ran screaming!!! True stroy :/
My parents got a divorce.
I sat on the couch alone with my dad as he loaded his handgun, cocked it, and pointed it to his temple. I begged and cried for him not to do it! He pulled the trigger as I held his arm. It clicked, a dud.
I don't really remember having any emotions other than pain I guess.
I remember being told we were going to Disney world and I was like, ok, and someone saying they've never seen a kid act so calm about something so exciting. I remembered that, and thought a lot about it, what did they mean?
I had strange thoughts too, like adults would cut their legs off by shutting their car doors when entering the vehicle . . . Me sitting behind unable to see what was really happening. I knew better though.
I started school, I remember watching and learning how my peers around me acted and I started to mimic their behaviors.
I began masking my own emotions with being happy and acting crazy because I seen it made people laugh and happy.
2nd grade i already felt guilty all the time and anxious. Someone else in trouble, why do I feel guilty?
I remember learning I was color blind and the teacher basically humiliated me by saying, will someone please help Cory pick out the correct colored crayons, clearly annoyed. I got even smaller, helpless, unable to help myself.
By the time I hit 4th grade, my thoughts were non stop, I couldn't focus, and I didn't see the point of even trying . . . Why, what is the point??? I've absorbed so much already I also thought school was basically useless in the long run. My grades began to rapidly decline because I didn't care anymore. I did continue to learn, I just chose not to do the work.
I always had horrible thoughts, I continued to mask my emotions despite being in constant despair.
I always feared something bad would happen to my dad, a car wreck, ect, losing him. I missed him dearly. My weekend visits every 2 weeks only fueled my worries.
I had a lot of trouble falling asleep, I would cry in fear I would turn into a serial killer while I slept.
I was always super anxious when needing anything, so I tried my hardest to cover up anything I could to keep from needing help.
I couldn't handle the thoughts anymore. The pain. I always wanted something bad to happen to me so someone would care, like I wished I would die. So by 10, I balled my eyes out in my backyard alone, untieing my tire swing, I climb the pine tree a good ways up, tied a slipknot in the rope, placed it around my neck, looked at the ground below and just gave up, I jumped! Luckily, I was so distraught I didn't measure the length of the rope and I hit the ground. Nobody knew.
I was accused of being on drugs a few times, what are drugs?
I started to try out smoking cigarettes.
I refused to wear shorts because people would question my birth mark, is someone beating you??? More unwanted negativity, I just want to disappear.
5th grade the bullies start, I was stabbed with pencils 2 times, and constantly attacked behind the scenes. Nobody knew. I refused to seek help.
D.A.R.E. came and taught us all about the wonderful world of drugs and how good they can make you feel, and how illegal and dangerous some can be. Hmmmm.
7th grade nothing has changed, still struggling with who I am and why I even exist.
I discovered, sex, drugs, and alcohol in 7th grade. Started with pills, then weed, sex and alcohol.
14 years old, we've moved a few times by now, I don't have any life long friends, but anyone I met eventually referred to me as an alien. I remember that nickname since like 4th grade. Different people, still an alien. I did manage to use drugs to elevate my mood, and I made new friends. I didn't have friends. Just drug addicted teens and bullies.
I flunked 7th grade, not because I was stupid or didn't know how, but what is the point? My lowest grade was a 27%.
The schools appointed me with a school counselor, needless to say, by the end of that year, she told me she was going to quit, she has never had a child fail so badly under her care.
Life went on, got more serious, more complicated, 17 my stepdad kicked me out. I continued to mask my life away, hiding behind a false smile. Still moving, still plagued by suicidal thoughts, anxiety. Bullying continued till I dropped out of school the day I turned 18 and immediately got my G.E.D. My stepmom kicked me out.
I got arrested, 13xs and 14 driving suspensions during an endless 10+ year cycle. Currently no probation, and I have a license.
Relationships always ended with me being cheated on, despite my kindness, trust no one, more fuel for my distrust.
People still try to hurt me for no reason, I even have titanium in my jaw from being sucker punched by someone I don't have any connection with. I just happened to be there. More pointless pain. I've kind of become a warrior of injustices I see around me. I am easily triggered and I will jump to someone's defense in a heart beat.
The pain never ended, I kept pushing, people do care, I don't want them to hurt for me.
30+ years I learned to cope somehow, experimenting with many different drugs. Some worked, but most had negative side effects. I can tell you in pretty good detail lol I did manage to quit EVERYTHING except weed and cigs, on my own.
I had nothing left, fresh out of jail, ready for change, I found her, I met my wife to be. I still struggle with my racing thoughts, and depression, but my beautiful wife has helped me become something more than I ever was, a better father, a husband.
I still struggle with emotions and racing thoughts. Zoom zoom.
Tiktok has made me aware of many things I didn't realize weren't normal feelings or behavior, I've saved them.
My love language is mental and physical intimacy, words of affirmation, kindness, hugs, kisses, feeling the other person close, making love, a mutually agreed upon ritual of love only between the 2. I smother my poor wife, I know I do, I don't mean to, I crave that close human contact. I understand she needs the space sometimes, I get it, I can become overwhelming im sure, still hurts for some reason though despite knowing people need some space sometimes. My thoughts are always racing.
Most doctors have automatically labeled me a drug seeker due to self medicating the pain away with marijuana, even though I've asked for help, That's fine, I don't want drugs to get high, I just want to feel better. If I wanted to get high I would just hit up the sobo clinics using my insurance.
Here I am, a broken man, mended together by my wife's love, can I be fixed? This is what has shaped me. I'm sure there is more, I've mentally removed, or forgot to list because I have sooooo many persistent internal thoughts, but I did notice that speed, like adderal, i can stop thinking, silence my racing thoughts, and my heart rate drops to like 50 bpm, instead of 90-100bpm, but the side effects I hate, it gives me E.D. although, I'm sure my wife probably wouldn't mind that part at all, haha.
Like I said, im probably still labeled a drug seeker, so what's a depressed man who refuses to admit he is broken to do? Contine to mask it, and try to fix it himself?
I'm a 38 y/o male, btw. Ha, still undiagnosed :P

2024.05.04 02:34 Jason_Sasha_Acoiners Hear me out: I feel like Helluva Boss would make for a really cool Doom gameplay mod.

For months now, I've thought that it would actually really work as a gameplay mod. Something along the lines of the mod "Bring your own class" (Just search up "Doom bring your own class" if you don't know what that is) just a little bit less silly, and, well, focused on HB, of course.
As for the playable characters it would add, the way I see it, five specific characters would be a must. I'll list them here and spout some abilities I feel would fit for each of them.
DISCLAIMER: Despite the show having a decent few combat scenes, there's not a lot of concrete evidence to show any of the characters' preferred fighting style consistently (at least I can remember), so a lot of what is to follow is extrapolated from the fight scenes we DID get, the characters' personalities, and my own opinions, and while a lot of it may not be character-accurate, I changed some of it up for gameplay reasons and to hopefully reduce redundancy. If you disagree with anything from here on out, feel free to say what you'd change, as I'm very interested in peoples' opinions about this.
Blitzø:
I feel like he would be a mostly jack of all trades kind of character, being the (arguably) main character of the show, it would make sense that he doesn't specifically excel or fall short in any one combat style. I feel like he'd have a handgun, shotgun, rifle of some kind, and maybe a few other miscellaneous things of the sort. All in all, I don't think he'd be an extremely mechanically interesting character, but definitely one that could get through most, if not all combat encounters with not TOO much issue.
Moxxie:
Since Moxxie strikes me as a character who doesn't like to get into physical fights, I think only one gameplay type makes sense for him. He would take the role of a sniper, having a few different long-range rifles to choose from depending on the situation. He'd have ways to get out of sticky close-range fights, but it wouldn't be easy. However, he would excel at long-range fights. I feel like he'd have a couple different rifles to choose from, each varying in power and fire rate to suit each situation. I feel like he could should have some kind of movement technique to basically get away from enemies as quickly as possible. I also think he would benefit from being able to go either invisible or at least be much harder to see, though there would of course be a cooldown so it wouldn't just be massively overpowered. Moxxie wouldn't have the lowest health pool of them all, but it'd be close. I don't think he'd be excessively useful in any official Doom campaign, but I feel like there's various custom campaigns he'd excel at. Still, I feel like that as a whole, Moxxie would generally be the hardest character to use.
Millie:
This rough-and-tumble southern gal I believe would have an affinity for one thing: explosives. Her gameplay style would consist of exactly what it sounds like. She'd excel at mid-range combat, as her various types of explosives would certainly be able to damage herself as well, so she shouldn't fight too close-range. She'd have an arsenal of a few different explosives, all suited for slightly different scenarios, such as standard grenades, impact grenades, sticky bombs, cluster bombs, claymores, C4, and perhaps a few others. I believe she'd also have a shotgun chambered exclusively in explosive rounds. She wouldn't have an extraordinarily large health pool or anything like that, but I do believe she should have explosion damage resistance to help offset her explosives potentially damaging herself. All in all, she'd excel at mid-range combat, do okay at close-range, and do rather poorly at long range.
Loona:
The token melee character. She would have very little in the way of being able to do damage at long range, though she could, if she really needed to. For example: maybe throwing knives of some sort that did a moderate amount of damage, but nothing even close to her melee damage. She would also have a move akin to Scorpion's "get over here!" using a chain of some sort to bring enemies closer to her if they're on a ledge/platform/etc that she could not physically get to. She'd be the fastest character, and have the highest speed, and she would be able to jump noticeably higher than any other character. She could use various blunt and sharp weapons depending on what the situation specifically calls for. I feel she'd also have a "rage mode" where she'd temporarily forgo traditional weapons completely and attack with only her claws, becoming even faster and taking even further reduced damage, but for the duration of the rage mode, be completely stripped of any and all ranged abilities except for pulling enemies closer to her through use of her chain.
Stolas:
Despite not having a single true combat scene in the show, Stolas is undoubtedly the one I have the most detailed ideas for. His attacks would be almost entirely based on him using his grimoire, specifically using his left hand to hold the book, and his right hand to use whatever magics are chosen at the moment. When switching weapons, he would flip through the pages of the book to get to whatever spell was selected, the spell would then be displayed on whatever page the book was on so that the player doesn't forget which spell they have selected. Beyond that, this is a character that, much like other magic users in fiction, you could do a lot of things with. But let's have some fun and just roll with the idea. I think he'd definitely have some elemental attacks, such as fire to do damage over time to enemies, be able to petrify enemies into stone and shatter them with a melee strike, He'd also have a spell that would massively damage everything in your sight at once, killing most fodder enemies instantly, and massively damaging things like cyber demons, however, this move would take a LOT of ammo, or perhaps be on a very long cool down. To balance out these powerful spells, he would have the lowest health pool in the game, effectively making him a glass cannon. I realize he's technically (nearly) immortal in the show, only being able to be damaged by angelic weaponry, but hey, game-balance, and it makes sense considering his physical appearance.
And that's about it, I think. Now I'm not a mod developer, so I know there's very little chance of this ever getting made, but it's just been fun to think about. I'd love to hear what people think of these ideas, as I've thought about it for literal months. I know there's MASSIVE potential balancing issues with these, but I'd like to think that on a baseline level, the ideas for each character aren't too bad. Also, I realize that there are quite a lot more characters in the show (not to mention Hazbin Hotel exists) but these were the five characters I actually had ideas for.
I'd love to hear people's opinions on what they'd change/add/remove, but please be kind and constructive.

2024.05.04 00:23 mclarke77 The Wall

2024.05.03 23:53 Jason_Sasha_Acoiners An idea for a gameplay mod I've had for a while now (This is not a request for anybody to make it, I just wanted to share my idea to see if anybody else thinks it's a fun idea or if anybody had any ideas to add to it or change about it.)

Okay, so, this is probably going to require some explanation of a specific YouTube series that I'm sure SOME people have heard of, at least: Helluva Boss. I'm sure just reading that probably made some people cringe, and y'know what? Fair enough. It can be a little bit...well, iykyk
But anyways! For months now, I've thought that it would actually really work as a gameplay mod. Something along the lines of the mod "Bring your own class" just a little bit less silly, and, well, focused on HB, of course.
As for the playable characters it would add, the way I see it, five specific characters would be a must. I'll list them here and spout some abilities I feel would fit for each of them.
DISCLAIMER: Despite the show having a decent few combat scenes, there's not a lot of concrete evidence to show any of the characters' preferred fighting style, so a lot of what is to follow is extrapolated from the fight scenes we DID get, the characters' personalities, and my own opinions.
I also think he would benefit from being able to activate the partial invisibility power up without having to find a pickup for it, though there would of course be a cooldown and/or various nerfs to make it not just completely overpowered. Moxxie would DEFINITELY have the lowest health pool of them all.
She would also have a move akin to Scorpion's "get over here!" using a chain of some sort to move to bring enemies closer to her if they're on a ledge/platform/etc that she could not physically get to.
Also, I realize that there are quite a lot more characters in the show (not to mention Hazbin Hotel exists) but these were the four characters I actually had ideas for.
I'd love to hear people's opinions on what they'd change/add/remove.

2024.05.02 03:16 OkIdeal9852 Empire needs ranged units that can stand up to Skaven weapons teams. There is no reason why the premier gunpowder/firearms faction should have worse gun lines than Skaven

Empire has better artillery than Skaven but Skaven have better missile infantry/weapons teams - ratling gunners and jezzails. Hochland Long Rifles were a step in the right direction with the otherwise unimpressive and redundant Thrones of Decay. But changing the Nuln Ironsides from having repeater handguns to slightly buffed Handgunners was a big mistake. "Oh but GW made them do it" then just change the name of the unit instead of completely changing everything else.
Armored handgunners are nearly pointless, because if the enemy infantry reaches your gun line, the battle is basically over anyway. Even if the new/false Nuln Ironsides have more armor and better melee stats than Handgunners, they're not Kislev hybrid units, they won't be able to defeat armored infantry in melee.
Rapid-fire repeater handgunners could have been the Empire's answer to ratling gunners - obviously not a stat-for-stat equivalent since repeater handguns don't fire as fast as ratling guns. But it would have offered more variety for gameplay than what we got now.
But the one advantage that Skaven gun armies have that the Empire will NEVER be able to account for is plague priest summons (and menace belows). These are essential for holding back enemy infantry. So the Empire needs significant boosts in terms of unit variety, rate of fire, and damage to be able to make up for not summoning units.

2024.05.01 22:50 htmlcoderexe Is it safer to meet a bear or a man in the woods? r/CuratedTumblr discusses (flairs at the end)

Background: there's some kind of viral video about random women being asked on the street whether they feel safer meeting a bear or a man while out in the woods. A user in /CuratedTumblr posts a meme someone made as a reference to said video.
The comments explode into discussions about the safety of various types of bears, statistics, Bayesian probabilities and all sorts of biases.
Here are some outtakes:
This thread in particular spawns some great takes
I totally understand why basically everyone says bear, my sister is very open about her experiences with creeps and I know that on a systemic level that there’s a lot of really shitty guys out there and that women are constantly punched down on and treated like garbage. But it still feels awful as a guy to hear it, even if I understand and empathize with the thought process. Like, whenever this topic comes up, I feel gross, like I failed somehow.
Shhh… just let internet strangers degrade you. It’s how you prove you’re one of the good ones. Nod appreciatively and say a word like ‘systemic’ or ‘generational’. They love that!
Waah, sexism isn't real, I'm one of the good ones, waah.
Fucking beta males
Another one off the same thread
Just swap "men" with "black people" or something similar and you see how this disgusting this rethoric is. "Would you prefer being alone with a bear or a black man?"
Pieces of shit, all of them.
Do you love cake?
Yeah well, swap "cake" with "9/11", not such a big fan of cake now are you?
A simple error to make, but unlike how black men are actually a subset of men, 9/11 is not a type of cake.
This thread spawns off some discussion of conservative men and russophobia
Wow, you're so right, my demographic is bad. Worse than animals even. No, I'm not offended you chose to say it that way. Bad things, very bad thing even, happened to your demographic so that justifies your communication. Suggesting that your wording could be better to actually communicating something that would lead to the very bad thing happening less would be tone policing. And of course turning my demographic into a synonym for perpetrators of crime is ok and the only reason I could not want that is because I identify with the perpetrators of crime.
misandry, racism against white ppl, and russophobia are becoming alarmingly acceptable
and people wonder why white males are increasingly conservative
this, just this lol
A woman being nervous alone in the forest with a man they don't trust is reasonable. There are some bad things that man could do. That man cannot tank 3 handgun rounds to the face before crushing your skull with his jaws. The man most likely won't charge at 30mph specifically to disembowel you.
As a man, I'd take most creatures over a bear. Bears are scary.
As a man, I bet I could take 3 handgun rounds to the face, I’m simply built different your honour
People going into specifics of the bear
Maybe it’s just me but think the question isn’t specific enough, who is the man? What kind of bear is it?
The man is specifically Andrew Tate, and the bear is actually a human man as well… just a big friendly hairy gay guy. That’s why all the women choose the bear.
https://www.reddit.com/CuratedTumblcomments/1ch9pwm/beal22bd86/?context=10
You're deep in the forest and suddenly see a black bear. Totally normal. It's probably just as scared of you.
You're deep in the forest and suddenly see a strange man. Fuck that. Nope.
I mean, you’re in the deep woods alone, why is it weird for a man to be? Did you reserve the woods for yourself for the day? Unless he’s legit following you, you shouldn’t assume you’re going to be attacked even if it feels creepy
https://www.reddit.com/CuratedTumblcomments/1ch9pwm/beal22gpnd/?context=10
For a woman the difference between being attacked by a bear and a man is that if you survive a bear attack, no one will ask you what you were wearing to provoke the bear. Or if you were drunk and actually asking for it.
something about base rate fallacies
survivorship_bias.jpg
"I will kill people who try stealing from me"

Flairs

"you win the internet today, good sir" ass comment

Shhh… just let internet strangers degrade you.

swap "cake" with "9/11", not such a big fan of cake now are you?

9/11 is not a type of cake.

Your "Good Boy" license can be retracted at any time.

Read Mein Kampf, it should be enlightening for you.

https://preview.redd.it/rkcigfzxysxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab23d60ae91fd4cb737223ffd68c6a243a63a1a2
Recently, I had the opportunity to use the Sports Afield Preserve SA5940P Gun Safe. This big guy stood tall at 59 inches by 40 inches by 22 inches, giving it a commanding presence in my home. The first thing that caught my eye was the fire rating of 45 minutes at 1400°F, and its waterproof capabilities in 2 feet of water for 7 days. Impressed by the safety it provided, I decided to try my luck on opening it. To my surprise, the biometric lock worked almost instantly, recognizing my fingerprint with ease.
Inside the safe, I discovered a well-organized interior. The 40-gun capacity left plenty of room for my firearms, and the additional 8-gun storage on the left side was a thoughtful touch. The fully carpeted interior and barrel rest made it easy to keep the firearms in place and protected. I also appreciated the reinforced top shelf, which provided a reliable space for storing important documents.
However, there were a few aspects of the Preserve SA5940P that could have been improved. Firstly, the illuminated biometric lock had a somewhat finicky process when programming the unique fingerprints. It took a few tries to get it just right, but eventually, I managed to get it working without a hitch.
Additionally, the presence of a rather noisy alarm proved to be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it provided an extra layer of security, but on the other hand, it was not a silent operation. It seemed rather sensitive to movement, making it difficult to make any changes to the firearms or documents without triggering the alarm.
Overall, the Sports Afield Preserve SA5940P Gun Safe delivered on its promise of providing a fire-resistant and waterproof storage solution for my firearms, documents, and other valuable items. Despite the minor hiccups, I still feel that it is a reliable and secure option for storing guns and other important belongings.

I've been using the Barska Extra Large Biometric Rifle Safe for a while now, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my firearm storage needs. The first thing that stood out to me was the biometric locking system. It's so convenient to be able to just scan my fingerprint instead of remembering a complex numerical key combination or searching for my keys.
One of the highlights of this safe is the ample storage space it provides. I can fit multiple rifles, ammunition, and accessories all nicely organized. The removable storage shelves are a great touch and allow me to keep everything neat and tidy. The interior lining is also a thoughtful feature that helps protect my valuables from scratches.
While the safe is quite heavy, which is a good thing for security, it can be a bit challenging to move around if needed. Additionally, some users have mentioned that the racks inside aren't as sturdy as they would like, but overall, the safe has been working well for me. So, if you're looking for a spacious and secure biometric rifle safe, this one could be a great option for you.

As a homeowner, I'm always seeking the best security measures for my household. That's why I had to give the Ironman 6024 Gun Safe a try. Upon opening the safe, I immediately noticed its impressive build quality. It's amazing to have a physical barrier between your valuables and potential burglars.
The safety features of this safe were truly impressive. A drill hard plate behind the lock, and if someone tries to force entry, the relocking device ensures the safe stays sealed. The added layer of a solid frame to protect against pry attempts makes this an even more secure option.
Despite its high-quality features, I did notice the safe's weight, which made maneuvering it around a bit challenging. However, considering the protection it offers, it's a small inconvenience I can live with.
All in all, the Ironman 6024 Gun Safe was the best security investment I've made for my home. Its superior protection gives me peace of mind and makes me feel safe.

🔗Top-Quality American Rebel AR-12 Black Smoke Gun Safe: Reliable Protection and Customizable Features

The American Rebel AR-12 Black Smoke Gun Safe with Digital Lock has been my trusty companion for protecting the valuables I store. It's designed with thoughtful features that make keeping my gun and other essentials safe a breeze. One of the things I appreciate the most is the sturdy construction of the safe, as it's made with double plate steel and has 1-1/4" diameter door bolts to prevent pry attacks. The 4-1/2" thick door and the four-way active boltwork add another layer of protection.
Not only does the AR-12 prioritize security, but its interior is also thoughtfully designed. The 3 adjustable shelves and door organizer make it easy for me to keep track of my items. The two large pockets and 2 pistol holsters on the door are a fantastic addition, as they provide quick and easy access to my handguns. However, I wish it came with an app that would allow me to control and monitor the safe remotely.
The outside of the safe is protected by a Sargent and Greenleaf Digital Electronic Lock which adds a level of convenience. The safe has undergone rigorous testing for fire resistance, with a fire rating of 75 minutes at outside temperatures up to 1200 degrees F. Another feature I can't live without is the exclusive five-spoke custom handle which makes moving the safe much easier.
In terms of color, there are 3 options available - Black, Gray, or Orange, which certainly helps personalize the safe to your preferences. The size of the safe is also perfect for office spaces, and I was pleasantly surprised when Safes and More delivered it even earlier than promised. I highly recommend the American Rebel AR-12 Black Smoke Gun Safe with Digital Lock for those looking for a safe combination of sturdiness, craftsmanship, and protection.

🔗Heavy-Duty Security Cabinet for Firearms, Ammo, and Valuables

https://preview.redd.it/zts8bwtzysxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3a3232ef214cb18eb41e9b6fa5962cd18552ad0
I've been using the Homak 12-Gun Steel Security Cabinet in my home for a few months now, and let me tell you, it's been quite the experience. The main highlight of this product is its sturdiness - with a 0.047" steel thickness, it definitely gives you a sense of security when storing your firearms and valuables. The additional storage bins and foam kits included make it even more convenient to organize everything in one place.
However, there were a couple of cons that I encountered while using this cabinet. First, the installation process of the foam kits was quite challenging, and the bins themselves were rather flimsy. Additionally, some users have faced issues with the delivery condition and customer service.
Overall, the Homak 12-Gun Steel Security Cabinet is a well-built, functional storage solution for those looking to secure their firearms and other valuables. Just be prepared to deal with a few minor hiccups, and make sure you have some time and patience during the installation process. The cabinet is a bit light, which could be a concern for security-conscious users, depending on their specific needs.

🔗14 Gauge Steel Long Gun Safe with SafeX Security System

The Kodiak KBX5933 46 Long Gun Safe with SAFEX Security System has been an impressive addition to my daily life. The SafeX Security System is a game-changer, providing an unbeatable level of protection against any attempts of prying or drilling. The fire protection is top-notch, with the ability to withstand 1400° F for 40 minutes, all thanks to the fireboard protection in the ceiling, walls, floor, and door.
Another highlight has been the heat-activated Palusol Fire door seal, which expands up to 8 times its size, keeping out heat and smoke when needed. The UL listed electronic lock and CA DOJ certification reassure me that my firearms are in good hands and are secure from unauthorized access.
The 14-gauge steel construction is sturdy and adds to the overall safety of the safe. The external dimensions are perfect for accommodating 46 long guns, and the deluxe door organizer comes with customizable handgun holders and pockets.
However, one downside I've noticed is the weight of the safe, as it can be challenging to move alone. Despite that, I'm thrilled with the performance and craftsmanship of this Kodiak Long Gun Safe, and it's definitely worth the investment for a peace of mind when it comes to storing your firearms.

🔗Secure Haven Gun Safe with E-Lock and Custom Features

https://preview.redd.it/7g1757y0zsxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cd1ce9b88c4e22cc333da03b8adeb89834ca7efc
As a sports enthusiast, I've always been on the lookout for reliable equipment and accessories, so when I came across the Haven SA5942HX Gun Safe from Sports Afield, it caught my attention. The first thing that struck me was its impressive size – it can store up to 48 long guns and 8 handguns, making it perfect for gun owners like me who need secure storage space for their firearms.
One of the standout features of this gun safe is its pry-resistant recessed doors with 1.5" steel bolts, ensuring that the contents are well-protected against unauthorized access. It's also California CDOJ Approved and has a 75-minute fire rating, providing peace of mind in case of emergencies.
Customization-wise, the Haven SA5942HX doesn't disappoint either. It comes with a deluxe door organization kit that allows for better organization, and adjustable shelving to accommodate various firearm sizes. Additionally, it features UL Rated dual outlets and 2 USB ports, offering convenience when it comes to charging or using the built-in LED motion lights – features I found very useful.
In terms of construction, the 14-gauge steel body feels solid and well-built. The safe has a weight of 722 pounds, ensuring it's not easy to move without proper tools. The interior is surprisingly sleek, thanks to the 4 bar LED lights.
While I appreciate the overall quality and functionality of the safe, some minor setbacks include the need to remove a sticker on the keypad for better visibility, and a less-than-perfect shipping experience. Nevertheless, I believe that the Sports Afield Haven SA5942HX Gun Safe is worth considering for its custom features and high-quality construction.

Buyer's Guide

A 12-gun safe is an essential investment for gun owners who need to store and protect their firearms securely. These safes offer enough space to store multiple long guns, providing peace of mind and enhanced security. This buyer's guide will help you navigate the features, considerations, and general advice for selecting the best 12-gun safe for your needs.

1. Capacity and Dimensions

https://preview.redd.it/3ozqq2o1zsxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3084baae1df7b788ae05367cd02add36cf4cec5
When considering a 12-gun safe, you need to ensure that it can accommodate all your firearms comfortably. The internal dimensions of the safe and its weight capacity should be sufficient to store the desired number of firearms. As weight can vary between models, it's crucial to check both the safe's dimensions and its maximum weight capacity to make the right pick.

2. Locking Mechanism and Security Features

The locking mechanism is another essential factor when choosing a 12-gun safe. Look for models with high-security locks like keyed, combination, or biometric locks, which provide multiple layers of protection to prevent unauthorized access. Additionally, advanced security features like fireproof materials, drill-resistant construction, and anchor points can further enhance the safe's security.

3. Material and Construction

The material and construction of a 12-gun safe play a vital role in its durability and functionality. Steel is a popular material due to its strength and resistance to theft. Thickness and gauge of the steel, as well as the interior finish, should be considered to ensure that the safe can protect your firearms effectively. Additionally, look for models that have proper insulation to maintain the temperature inside the safe, especially when storing valuable items.

https://preview.redd.it/72ck6x52zsxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8614f2c7533e41d5689efe0d49e99acae373dff8

4. Design and Aesthetics

While security is the primary consideration when purchasing a 12-gun safe, many users value a well-designed and aesthetically pleasing product. Consider the overall design of the safe, including door hinges, door handles, and any interior compartments or shelves. You may also prefer a safe with a scratch-resistant finish that maintains its appearance over time.

5. Weight and Portability

When selecting a 12-gun safe, consider its weight and portability. Many models often come equipped with wheels to simplify transportation. The weight of the safe also affects its security, as a heavier safe is more challenging for thieves to move. However, be cautious not to compromise security for portability.

  • Consider the warranty and customer support offered by the manufacturer for any potential complications or issues with your purchase.
  • Additionally, research and read customer reviews to better understand the pros and cons of various models before making your decision.
  • Finally, when choosing a 12-gun safe, it's crucial to prioritize safety, security, and adequate storage capacity. Don't forget to factor in the convenience features that you may require.

FAQ

How do I choose the right gun safe for my needs?

When selecting a gun safe, consider factors such as the number of guns you need to store, the size and weight of the safe, and the protection it provides against fire and burglary. Additionally, think about the type of locking mechanism and whether you prefer a digital or mechanical lock.

https://preview.redd.it/96ewmhh3zsxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec30f28962c034fb4ebb9f8b5e3ec9512512247f

How does a gun safe protection against fire?

A gun safe with fire protection features will have insulation and heat-resistant materials to keep the temperature inside the safe during a fire. This helps prevent the guns from warping, corroding, or melting. Be sure to look for a UL fire rating when shopping for a gun safe.

What options are available for locking mechanisms in a gun safe?

Locking mechanisms in gun safes can include digital keypads, mechanical locks, electronic locks with a keypad, or biometric locks that require a fingerprint for access. Choose the lock that best fits your needs and ensures the security of your guns.

How do I ensure my gun safe is properly installed?

Proper installation of a gun safe is crucial for its effectiveness. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for placement, anchoring, and securing the safe to prevent it from being moved or pried open. If possible, use a professional installation service to ensure the safe is properly secured.

Should I invest in a heavy-duty or a lightweight gun safe?

Heavy-duty gun safes typically have better security features, including thicker walls and reinforced door bolts. However, they can be more difficult to move and place. Consider both the protection and convenience factors when deciding between a heavy-duty or a lightweight gun safe.

What are some tips for maintenance of a gun safe?

  • Check the locking mechanism periodically to ensure it's working properly.
  • Keep the key or combination to the safe in a safe place, away from the safe itself.
  • Regularly inspect the safe for signs of wear or damage, such as scratches or dents.
  • Keep the safe clean and free of dust by occasionally wiping it down with a soft cloth.

🔗Comfortable and Customizable Load Bearing Plate Carrier for Tactical Missions

https://preview.redd.it/74llq3r1osxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c851eb94fced345815c694cc01bc5b248e14ce8c
The HRT LBAC plate carrier, known as the "Load Bearing Adaptive Carrier, " is a top-notch solution for comfortable and customizable load bearing. It features an advanced chassis system, allowing for the distribution of weight across the user's body with ease. The cummerbund core is stiffened and, combined with quick-release buckles, provides an extremely supportive fit.
In my experience, the HRT LBAC has been a game-changer compared to other carrier designs. It's adaptable, efficient, and designed for obstacle navigation. The flexible modular construction allows me to adjust the fit as needed. The shoulder straps, which can be configured for right-handed or left-handed shooters, are another highlight, as this customization adds to overall comfort and performance.
Moreover, the HRT LBAC is constructed using 500 Denier Cordura treated with Du-Pont Teflon, offering both durability and lightweight functionality. The attachment points on the chest for a Duraflex Buckle attachment system provide quick access to additional gear.
Despite its many positive features, there are a few areas where the HRT LBAC could be improved. The fit, while close to "one-size-fits-all, " might still be less than perfect for some users. Additionally, while the airflow channel helps keep wearers cool, it might not be enough in extreme conditions.
Overall, the HRT LBAC plate carrier is a budget-friendly, high-performance option for those who need reliable, comfortable load bearing in their daily lives. With its adjustability, modularity, and versatility, it stands out among other tactical products in the market.

🔗Versatile Lightweight 11x14 Plate Carrier

https://preview.redd.it/2yw8fb22osxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a315fa7ac131c715331d5b292cd740997c2d211
The Velocity Systems Scarab Light Plate Carrier has become my go-to choice for comfort and versatility in the field. The unique shoulder strap design, built from Ultracomp, offers a secure and comfortable fit for a wide range of body types. The front platebag features two Swiftclip buckles and Velcro Pals webbing, making it compatible with Velocity System's line of chest rigs and placards.
The rear can accept zip-on panels for quick changes in mission loadout. The Scarab's sizing ensures that it conveniently holds plates of corresponding sizes, such as a Size Large carrier holding Size Large E-Sapi plates.
Overall, this plate carrier is a top-tier product that delivers comfort and adaptability in any situation.

🔗High-Protection EXO Plate Carrier with Soft Armor Capacity

https://preview.redd.it/lbrdgoo2osxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90dc3e146d00cb85d904b7071522acd51850bfc0
The Condor Exo Plate Carrier Gen II Olive Drab has become my go-to gear for any outdoor adventure. The comfortable fit and durable construction are just a few of the features that stand out in this product.
What I found remarkable is the interior lining's mesh padded design, allowing for easy access to the plate pockets. The interior sleeves for soft armor are a great feature, ensuring the soft armor stays securely in place. The XPC also accepts medium and large 6" x 10" and 6" x 12" soft armor, providing a wide range of options for users.
That said, I did find the length of the vest to be slightly longer than anticipated, which made it somewhat difficult to use my duty belt as normal. Additionally, the instructions for the vest's proper use were not as clear as they could have been, leading to a bit of trial and error when it came to adjusting the fit.
Overall, I believe this plate carrier is a valuable investment for anyone who demands high-quality protection. Although I encountered a few minor issues, the pros outweighed the cons, and the level of comfort and durability made it well worth the price.

🔗Quick Response Carrier (QRC) in XL Accepts 11x14 Plate, Black

https://preview.redd.it/qpqts3w2osxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93a23a063fb1d635d6be36f8ede7d5012b3305d2
As someone who values functionality and efficiency in their gear, I've had the chance to try out this Quick Response Plate Carrier from Chase Tactical. The first thing that stood out to me was how it can be put on in a matter of seconds, perfect for those high-stress situations where time is of the essence.
Despite its lightweight design and minimalistic approach, this plate carrier doesn't compromise on protection or durability. It's an ideal option for those who need to be mobile and quick on their feet without sacrificing safety. The shoulder pads, although not included, didn't seem to be essential to the overall design.
However, there's one downside to note: while it's great for those with a smaller frame, finding the right sizing for larger users can be a challenge. Nevertheless, it's a reliable piece of gear that any tactical professional would appreciate for its speed and functionality.

I recently had the chance to put the Battle Steel Plate Carrier with the Removable Cummerbund to the test during my outdoor adventures. The first thing that stood out to me was its sturdy build. It felt reliable and solid, which gave me peace of mind when I was navigating through rocky terrain or crossing streams.
The cummerbund also proved to be useful in keeping my gear secure while allowing me to move freely. It was a breath of fresh air compared to the constricting straps I've used in the past. Although the fit took some time to adjust, once it was in place, I felt comfortable and supported throughout my journey.
One downside I noticed was that the adjustable straps took a bit of effort to tighten, especially when I was using it in the heat. However, this minor inconvenience was quickly forgotten once I felt the benefits of its functionality.
Overall, I was impressed with the Battle Steel Plate Carrier's durability and flexibility. It made my outdoor adventures more comfortable and enjoyable, and I look forward to using it on many more adventures to come.

Ideal for those in law enforcement, military, and competitive shooting sports, these carriers offer enhanced protection without sacrificing maneuverability. In this buyer's guide, we will cover essential features, considerations, and general advice to help you make an informed decision.

Design and Material

The design and material of the 11x14 plate carrier play a significant role in its overall efficiency and durability. High-quality materials like Cordura nylon or ballistic-grade fabric can withstand abrasion and tears while ensuring lightweight and breathable protection. Ensure the carrier has adjustable straps, loops, and Velcro panels for optimal customization.

https://preview.redd.it/e2240mh4osxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5afedbb86ebb7d84464e4790f5e421f2b7ebfaa5

Weight and Comfort

Comfort is crucial for prolonged use, especially in high-stress situations. Lightweight and well-padded shoulder straps and back panels can help distribute weight evenly and reduce strain. Be mindful of the carrier's construction, as some materials may restrict airflow and cause sweating.

Protection Level

https://preview.redd.it/gp7q0ts4osxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ea8c189449e892987d5451483143b70e4a30fcf
Consider the level of protection needed for your specific situation. Soft armor or trauma plates provide varying levels of protection against impact and projectile penetration. Look for vest carriers with compartments for additional equipment like trauma kits, hydration bladders, or communication devices.

Compatibility and Modularity

If you plan to use additional gear, ensure the 11x14 plate carrier is compatible with your existing equipment. Check for modularity options, such as interchangeable plate pockets and magazine pouches, to adapt the carrier to your specific needs.

Price and Quality

While it may be tempting to save money on a cheaper option, investing in a high-quality 11x14 plate carrier can pay off in the long run. Pay attention to warranty and customer support from the manufacturer, as these factors can influence your overall satisfaction with the product.

Final Thoughts

When selecting an 11x14 plate carrier, research carefully and consider your specific needs. 🔗Ultra-Secure Narrow Gun Safe with Biometric Lock and 40 Gun Capacity

https://preview.redd.it/sz43qv3wksxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0279184636ab7e33b52e891c9314c02e1a5e7703

🔗Fireproof Gun Safe with Electronic Lock and Alarm U Function

I recently purchased the Wasatch 18 Gun Safe, and it exceeded my expectations. Its sleek design and durability have been impressive so far. The fireproof features stood out to me, and I appreciate that it can handle a temperature of up to 1400 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. The waterproof aspect is also reassuring since it can withstand up to 2 feet of water for 72 hours, which is a great feature to have in case of accidents.
One thing I found particularly useful is the electronic lock with the alarm U function. I love the theft alert and deterrent alert features that give me peace of mind. The backup key is also a great touch for added security. The external hinges allow for a full 180-degree opening, providing excellent access to all my valuables.
The interior door storage and lever handle have been quite convenient. The 1.5-inch active locking bolts and 2 dead bolts also add an extra layer of security. However, I did find out that the safe is not designed to hold 18 guns – instead, it can accommodate 3-4 short rifles or 8 handguns, which I find a bit limiting.
One downside is that the safe is quite heavy, so assistance is needed when setting it up. I would also recommend having a secure and convenient spot for it as it includes a bolt-down kit to prevent theft. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase, and I believe the Wasatch 18 Gun Safe is a great value for its price.

In my daily life, I found the Sports Afield SA5924P Preserve to be an excellent gun safe to protect my valuables. This safe was easy to assemble and has a sleek design that fits perfectly in my home. The fully programmable electric lock and 2 backup keys allowed me to access my safe quickly and easily, providing me with peace of mind.
The interior of the safe was fully carpeted, providing a uniform appearance and protecting my guns from scratches. I was impressed with the storage capacity, as it accommodated up to 24 long guns and 4 handguns. The UL approved power outlet and 4 pre-cut anchor holes made for a convenient installation, while the waterproof washers ensured my safe would stay dry.
However, I did encounter a few drawbacks. The safe was quite heavy, which made it difficult to move if not bolted down. Additionally, the alarm on the safe was a bit sensitive and would go off at every little movement, which proved to be quite annoying.
Overall, the Sports Afield SA5924P Preserve is a reliable and secure gun safe that has served my needs well. Its combination of features, such as the fully programmable electric lock and the UL approved power outlet, make it a great choice for gun owners.

🔗AMSEC NF6030E5: Robust, 90-Minute Gun Safe with Premium Inner Organizer & Adjustable Hinges

https://preview.redd.it/fd7tel0yksxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=98b1b4a116cfe08cd3a3d7807400290c176c456e
As a reviewer I can say that the AMSEC NF6030E5 Gun Safe is something that stands out from the rest. The moment you lay your eyes on it, you can tell this isn't just any ordinary safe. It's sturdy and well-built, with a sleek gunmetal exterior that exudes a sense of durability and reliability. But it's the interior that truly sets it apart.
One of the first things that caught my attention was the impressive 2-stage dual fire seal, which includes a silicone seal on the door jamb and an expandable Palusol seal on the door. This ensures that your firearms and other valuable items remain protected from harsh conditions and high temperatures.
I also appreciated the U. L. Residential Security Container and California DOJ approval, which is a testament to its high standards of security. The 1/4" steel plate on the door and the 11-gauge solid steel plate on the body offer a solid, impenetrable barrier against intruders.
The AMSEC NF6030E5 Gun Safe is equipped with a reliable electronic lock, which not only adds a layer of security, but also comes with two relocking devices for extra peace of mind. The mechanical dial lock and the doomsday redundant lock are available as additional security measures as well.
The interior of the safe is just as impressive as its exterior. The all-velour, all-in-one interior with back-cover and firewalls, along with the 2 cover plates and 4 side shelves, provides ample room for storage and organization. The premium door organizer (PDO) is a fantastic added touch, making it easier to store and access your most commonly used items.
Overall, the AMSEC NF6030E5 Gun Safe is a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable and secure storage solution for their firearms and other valuables. It's well-designed, offering excellent security features and a smooth, user-friendly experience. It really is a standout product in its category.

I recently got my hands on the Sports Afield SA5518GS 18 Gun Cabinet Black and it's been a game-changer in my daily life. As a hunter, I often find myself having a hard time keeping track of my firearms and ensuring their safety. However, with this gun cabinet, I can finally rest easy knowing they're securely stored away from the elements and unauthorized access.
One of the features that stood out to me is the gun capacity, which can hold up to 18 long guns. It's great to have a reliable storage option when you have a variety of firearms. The cabinet also ensures that your firearms are easily accessible whenever needed, thanks to its 18 long gun barrel rest positions.
Now, for the not-so-great part. While the gun cabinet has a robust keyed locking mechanism with three active and two deadbolts, I found the installation process for the bolt-down kit to be a bit challenging. But overall, the benefits of having a secure and spacious gun cabinet outweigh the minor installation issue.
In conclusion, if you're in need of a reliable and secure storage solution for your firearms, look no further than the Sports Afield SA5518GS 18 Gun Cabinet Black. Its gun capacity, ease of access, and robust security features make it a must-have for any gun enthusiast.

🔗Stack-On Gun Cabinet with Key Lock Security Feature

I recently had the chance to try out the Stack-On 10 Gun/Security Cabinet GCG-910. As a long-time gun owner, I was impressed by the durability this safe offered. The molded barrel rests held my firearms securely, and the welded steel construction exuded a sense of quality and reliability.
One minor issue I encountered was that the locking mechanism seemed a bit stiff at first. However, a few attempts at opening and closing it smoothed things out considerably. My only wish as a reviewer would be for the product to come with a slightly simpler installation process—setting it up took some extra time and effort.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this safe to my fellow gun owners who value both security and ease of use. The Stack-On GCG-910 is a worthy investment for safeguarding your firearms, thanks to its robust build and innovative locking system.

Buyer's Guide

In this section, you'll find valuable information about the features and considerations to look for when purchasing a 10-gun safe for securing your firearms and protecting your valuables. This guide is designed to help you make a well-informed decision and ensure you get the best possible product for your needs.

Size and Capacity

When selecting a 10-gun safe, consider the available space, door opening width, and overall dimensions. A safe with a larger interior capacity offers more room for additional firearms, ammunition, and other valuables. Adequate door opening width is essential to permit easy access for retrieving your firearms. Also, ensure the safe's dimensions are compatible with your designated installation location.

https://preview.redd.it/0bxcsly0lsxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c82c5dec18e734e11f8abbeef18b23afc44f6be

Construction and Materials

A well-built 10-gun safe should offer superior security against theft and unauthorized access. Look for a safe constructed from 12-gauge steel or higher, providing durability and strength. Some safes may also feature composite materials or a combination of steel and composite elements. Choose a locking mechanism with high resistance to drilling, prying, and manipulation attempts.

Security and Protection

In addition to strong construction, consider the safety features of the safe. Look for a safe with a heavy deadbolt lock, a high-quality locking mechanism, and a relocker or manual re-locking system. A tamper-resistant door seal can protect the contents from humidity and dust, preventing corrosion and damage. Some safes may also feature an interior light to aid in retrieval.

Ease of Use

A quality 10-gun safe should be user-friendly, allowing for comfortable and efficient access to your firearms. Consider safes with adjustable shelving and interior lighting options. It can also be helpful to select a safe with an easy-to-operate lock and handle design. Additionally, ensure the safe's weight and dimensions are manageable for your intended installation location.

https://preview.redd.it/0p1l6kg1lsxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8569ff800c9f09745ccb02f17231513ae7c92964

Installation and Maintenance

Installing a 10-gun safe securely and properly is crucial for maintaining its security. Many safes come with pre-drilled holes for anchoring to the floor or wall. Consult the manufacturer's guidelines for installation instructions and precautions. Regularly inspect your safe for any signs of wear or damage, and maintain it according to the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure optimal performance and long-lasting durability.

Brand Reputation and Warranty

When selecting a 10-gun safe, consider the reputation of the brand and the warranty coverage. Research the manufacturer's history, customer reviews, and any industry certifications or awards. A comprehensive warranty typically covers defects, theft, and other issues, providing you with a sense of security and protection for your investment.

Budget and Value

Finally, establish a budget for your 10-gun safe and consider the balance between cost and value. While more costly models may offer superior features and security, it's essential to find a product that meets your needs and falls within your budget range. Shop around and compare various options, taking into account the key factors discussed above, to ensure you make the best possible selection for your needs.
By considering the factors outlined in this buyer's guide, you'll be well-equipped to find the perfect 10-gun safe for your firearms and valuables. With a combination of size, construction, security, ease of use, installation, brand reputation, and budget in mind, you'll be able to make an informed decision and enjoy peace of mind knowing your firearms and valuables are securely stored and protected.

I've been using the HKS MAGLDR S&W all season long for my Smith & Wesson 41, and I must say, it's been a game-changer. The only downside I've experienced is that the device's lever can sometimes scuff the paint on my magazines, but a simple fix with some felt padding or cutting off the lever altogether solves the issue. Its versatility stood out as it works seamlessly with a vast array of pistol types and magazine calibres, ensuring my rounds never go to waste. The Raptor's speed and convenience have significantly streamlined my preparation time, making it an indispensable tool in my arsenal.

As a gun enthusiast, I recently discovered the joy of the No108 Bb Loader. Despite its 3.94 x 1.57 x 0.59 inches dimensions and being quite compact, it's an ingenious choice for those who love their guns. It features a sleek black finish that fits in with any handgun's appearance, making it a perfect match.
One of the standout features of the No108 Bb Loader is its ease of use. The push-button mechanism allows quick and efficient refilling, a feature that is much appreciated when using high-speed guns. Additionally, the loader is constructed from high-quality, sturdy materials that withstand the frequent use associated with such firearms.
However, like any product, it isn't without its drawbacks. One issue I encountered during my use was the occasional jamming of the BBs. Despite this minor inconvenience, it did not hinder my overall experience and ability to use the device effectively.
Another thing to be aware of is compatibility. Though it works perfectly with Tokyo Marui brand handguns, using it with other brands might not yield the same smooth performance. But as with any product, there's always a learning curve, and once you get used to it, the No108 Bb Loader becomes a formidable tool in your gun collection.
In conclusion, the No108 Bb Loader is a reliable and practical choice for gun enthusiasts looking for an efficient tool to load their BBs. Despite a few hiccups along the way, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. With an easy-to-use design and the added convenience of a push-button mechanism, it is definitely a go-to option for both casual and serious shooters alike.

I had the chance to give the Traditions Universal Fast Loader a try, and I must say, it was a game-changer for my muzzleloader. With the ability to hold pre-measured powder and projectiles, these nifty little tubes made my shooting experience much more efficient.
One of the standout features of the Traditions Universal Fast Loader was its versatility. It could be used with all calibers, making it a must-have accessory for any muzzleloader enthusiast. The loader is designed with a divider that separates the powder from the projectile, keeping everything in place and organized.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks I encountered. The end caps were a bit loose, which led to some powder spillage. It was an easy fix, though, by wrapping some tape around the open mouth side to secure it better. Additionally, the pockets designed to hold the primer didn't work as well as I had hoped.
Despite these minor issues, the Traditions Universal Fast Loader proved to be an excellent addition to my muzzleloader kit. I've had the chance to use the Birchwood Casey Shoot-N-C targets in my indoor range sessions, and I must say, they've made a world of difference! The bright color of the bulletholes is a clear indication of my gun's performance, and it offers instant feedback on how to adjust my shots.
What I particularly appreciate about these targets is that they work great for both indoor and outdoor use. The self-adhesive backing makes it very easy to stick them onto any surface, and the pasters help extend the life of the targets.
The targets themselves have a nice size, and it's easy to see the impact of the bullets. They're perfect for long-range rifle shooting, showcasing shotgun patterning, or even training for different calibers.
However, there is a small drawback in that after several uses, the targets can become less sticky. It's not a major issue, as the pasters make it easy to keep them on for longer.
Overall, I highly recommend the Birchwood Casey Shoot-N-C targets for anyone looking to improve their shooting accuracy and receive instant feedback on their performance.

I recently used the Do-All Triple Spinner target set in my backyard and I must say it has been a game-changer in my shooting practice. This set is tailored for soft-nosed. 22 rimfire rounds and it is well-designed for beginners and seasoned shooters alike. The set includes interchangeable spinning targets which spins when hit, making it easier to see and correct your positioning.
What stood out to me is the all-steel construction, which offers durability even when hit multiple times. I appreciate that the manufacturer includes a stabilizing stand, which holds the targets firmly in place, reducing the need for constant resetting after every shot.
However, the size of the targets is relatively small, which might prove challenging for some shooters. Additionally, the provided stickers for marking targets could have been of better quality, as they started falling off within a few shots. These factors might necessitate additional purchases or modifications to the product to suit individual preferences.
Overall, the Do-All Triple Spinner target set is a convenient and effective practice tool for. 22 rimfire enthusiasts. Its sturdy design, interchangeable spinning targets, and versatile base make it a great investment for improving your marksmanship.

🔗Auto-Reset Handgun Target for Perfect Practice

I recently had the chance to try out the Do-All Outdoors Handgun Auto Reset Target, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! As a seasoned shooter, I was looking for a target that would challenge me and help me improve my aim. This target certainly did just that.
One of the standout features of this target is its durable steel construction. It feels sturdy and well-made, giving me confidence that it would withstand the force of the bullets. The powder coated paint not only adds to its aesthetic appeal but also provides an extra layer of protection against rust and corrosion.
The stabilizing ground spikes are a great addition, as they ensure the target stays firmly in place, even during high-velocity shots. I particularly appreciated the forward-leaning design, which deflects bullets downward and provides increased safety. This feature is especially beneficial when you're practicing at close range or have limited space for shooting.
The high visibility targets made hitting the mark a breeze, even when shooting at a distance. It was easy to see the difference between the hit and miss zones, which helped me focus on my aim and make adjustments to my technique accordingly.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks I encountered during my experience. Firstly, the resetting mechanism seemed a bit finicky at times, and I had to manually reset the target after some shots. While it wasn't a major issue, it did break the flow of my shooting practice.
Additionally, I noticed that the target took a significant amount of damage after only a few rounds of shooting. The paint on the target began to chip away, and I had to apply touch-ups to maintain its visibility. Despite these minor setbacks, I still managed to have a great time using the Do-All Outdoors Handgun Auto Reset Target.
In conclusion, this target is an excellent choice for anyone looking to improve their shooting skills or simply enjoy a fun and challenging target practice session. Its durability, ease of use, and ability to help you hone your aim make it a worthwhile investment for any gun enthusiast.

Incorporating GlowShot Tech, these 10" multi-colored targets made from heavy duty reinforced tag board provide a splatter of vibrant hues around every hit, offering instant feedback and improving focus on target acquisition. Despite not being self-adhesive, their competitive pricing and variety make them a popular choice among reviewers.

🔗Self-Healing Spinning Targets for Shooting Range

https://preview.redd.it/5m2vxe5utrxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e6a65b579c9fa96c177636c9814b91364495c19
I've been using these Guide Gear Steel Auto Reset and Spinner Shooting Targets for a few weeks now, and I must say, they've been quite the addition to my backyard shooting range. The quality of the targets is impressive, with a well-made and sturdy design that can withstand any misses. Setting them up is a breeze, and storing them away when I'm done is just as easy.
As for the features, the auto-reset function is fantastic. It saves me the hassle of walking down the range after every shot, and the targets are easily repositioned for better accuracy. The spinning target is also a great feature, as it adds a level of excitement to my shooting sessions.
However, there's one area where these targets fall short. The in-ground stakes are just too short, making it difficult for me to secure them in the ground. This issue is even more apparent in softer soil conditions, which has caused me to reconsider their placement in certain areas.
In conclusion, these Guide Gear Steel Auto Reset and Spinner Shooting Targets are a enjoyable and practical addition to any shooting enthusiast's range. Their auto-reset feature and spinning target make them a unique and engaging way to practice your aim, but the short in-ground stakes are a slight drawback to an otherwise impressive product.

🔗Unpredictable Ground Bouncing Shooting Target

https://preview.redd.it/aj8zbhkutrxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ac6f7e612f833132ee894abf6464b2c9306fa6c
When I first tried the Ground Bouncing Hot Box 4 inch impact seal target, I was blown away by its unpredictable movement. The target would fly, bounce, roll, and run each time I took a shot. It was a thrilling training experience that made me feel like I was really in the thick of it.
One of the standout features of the target is its self-healing properties. After being hit numerous times, it would bounce back like a resilient little toy, ready for more action. It's a testament to just how tough the product is, handling even high caliber firearms with ease.
However, the target's movement is quite unpredictable and I found it hard to stay focused on my aim at times. It seemed to fly randomly in different directions with no real pattern, which made things quite challenging for me. Some users have mentioned that they face similar difficulty when using smaller or faster bullets.
In conclusion, the Ground Bouncing Hot Box target is a fun and durable product that provides an exciting shooting experience. Just remember to stay focused and make sure you're on your game when you start shooting at it.

🔗Improved Shooting Targets for Enhanced Practice

https://preview.redd.it/93xt59vutrxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c5b6140eea9f96580a6a7244513e636ef031726
Spinner Targets, also known by their brand SimpleShot, have been a delightful addition to my slingshot practice. The variety of sizes available adds a fun element to the shooting experience, with the smaller targets offering more challenge and larger ones easier to hit. The most notable feature of these spinner targets is their ability to absorb the energy of the steel ammo, which results in less bounce out of the catch box. This has significantly improved my overall accuracy and experience.
One aspect I appreciate is the satisfying sound these targets make when hit with the steel ammo. It provides a positive reinforcement and makes for a rewarding experience, especially when using the 2cm disk, which has been the most helpful for improving my accuracy. Additionally, setting up the targets in a progression, for example from larger to smaller ones, has helped me develop consistency in my technique.
That being said, there are a few downsides to using the Spinner Targets. Firstly, they tend to fade in sunlight relatively quickly, with half of their flourescent brilliance lost in just two months. This might not be a significant issue for those who primarily shoot indoors or under shade. Secondly, the extra clap and movement that accompany a hit can be somewhat noisy. This is not a major issue, but could potentially disturb others in the vicinity.
Overall, the Spinner Targets provide a fun and engaging way to practice and develop my slingshot skills. Despite the occasional sunlight fading and noise, the benefits greatly outweigh these minor drawbacks. I would certainly recommend these targets to anyone looking to improve their slingshot proficiency and enjoy a satisfying, challenging, and noisy slingshot shooting experience.

🔗High-Visibility Shooting Targets for All Firearms

https://preview.redd.it/3rbxwelvtrxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6228518d96d27c8bcac185aa6c0ba07ae6980499
The Birchwood Casey Target Shoot-N-C 2" Bullseye is a versatile and easy-to-use target for firearm enthusiasts. I've had the pleasure of using these for my own shooting practice, and they've impressed me in various ways.
First of all, the self-adhesive backing makes putting up these targets a breeze. No need to fumble with tape or staples—just stick 'em on and you're good to go. The convenience is definitely a plus when you're setting up your shooting range.
The instant feedback feature is another highlight. No more walking down the range or using binoculars to see where your shots went. Just look at the target, and you'll know right away if you hit the mark. It's great for improving your accuracy and making adjustments on the fly.
One downside I've noticed is that the chartreuse on black can be a bit harsh on the eyes. It's highly visible, yes, but it might cause some strain after extended use. However, this isn't much of an issue for me since I usually shoot in short sessions.
Moreover, these targets are universal and perfect for all firearms and calibers. Whether you're using a. 22 rimfire or a centerfire gun, they'll work just fine. They're also great for both indoor and outdoor use, making them a reliable choice no matter the weather conditions.
In conclusion, the Birchwood Casey Target Shoot-N-C 2" Bullseye has been a pleasant addition to my shooting practice. Its ease of use and instant feedback features make it a valuable tool for any enthusiast. The only drawback is the potentially harsh color combination, but overall, I'd definitely recommend these targets for a satisfying and engaging shooting experience.

🔗9mm Self Healing Targets for Shooting Practice

https://preview.redd.it/n6iwdhzvtrxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a3cb235945024d1e51f1831273d73f18106edad
When I first heard about the Self Healing Targets, I was skeptical. How could something be self-healing and also durable? But I was intrigued, so I decided to give it a try. I hung the target in my backyard, where I could have some fun shooting clay with my slingshot.
At first, it was a bit of a learning experience. My aim was off, and I missed the target more often than I hit it. But as I continued to practice, I found that the Self Healing Target really did self-heal. The ears that had once given way were now holding up strong, and the colors were still vibrant.
I started hitting the target more consistently, which made me happier with my purchase. The material was soft enough that the impact didn't hurt too much, but it was also sturdy enough to withstand a beating.
Despite my initial skepticism, these Self Healing Targets exceeded my expectations. They're the perfect size for practicing and withstand even the most enthusiastic shooter (like me). I highly recommend them for anyone looking to improve their slingshot skills or just have a bit of fun in the backyard.
