Senior Dog SEVERE Noise Phobia - HELP!!!

2024.05.16 17:40 LorninfortheDoone Senior Dog SEVERE Noise Phobia - HELP!!!

Hello everyone. My husband and I have an 11 year old Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix who has developed severe noise phobia/anxiety in the past few years. He has always been an anxious dog and he has struggled with separation anxiety ever since I got him (10 years ago).
We first noticed in back in 2020 when I started working from home full time. It started gradually, with him getting upset when I would get a notification on my phone while on a phone call. We assumed this was because a lot of times it was someone texting to say they had dropped something off and he grew to associate that noise with someone being at our apartment door. The noise my phone makes is high pitched and only happens when I am on a call and I get a text message. We have never been able to figure out how to change it and even after I got a new phone from the same manufacturer the same noise was used.
We moved late in 2020 and over the course of the following years we began to notice more and more noises that our dog was becoming scared of. There is a high pitched ding that is used in a lot of shows that was the first major culprit we noticed. It's commonly used as a scene transition or when a character has an idea. Once we identified this new noise we made an effort to switch what we were watching whenever it happened to help our dog calm down.
It progressed again from here in the past year or so. Now even hearing an elevator ding in shows and movies will set him off. The list of shows and movies we can watch has been drastically reduced. You would be amazed how many shows occasionally have SOMETHING that makes a high pitched/electronic/chime noise. Even if we change the show he will be so on edge and upset for the rest of the evening that there is nothing we can do but sit in complete silence. We have to take him outside just to turn the air purifier off to clean it because it beeps when you turn it off/on. We had to download an app to control our ceiling fan because the remote makes a beeping sound when we turn it off/on.
To give some context on what we are seeing when he gets upset: physically flinching when he hears the noise, urinating inside, panting, pacing, shaking (INTENSELY), chewing, barking, trying to hide (anywhere and everywhere - including places where he has almost gotten himself hurt), whimpering, trying to get away from us (on walks or when we were sitting together) and complete refusal to eat. We have offered him all of his favorite treats and bought new ones to try and bribe him with but he is so upset he won't do more than sniff them.
Just this morning we discovered a new problem sound. We got him a little doorbell to push to tell us when he wants to go outside. We just have a ring doorbell so he isn't reactive to the classic doorbell chime and this one came with a wide variety of sounds to try. He is smart as can be and we know he will figure this out without a problem, but as soon as he heard the sound effects (and we tried all of them) he started to get upset. I was able to bribe him with hot dogs for a few minutes to try and convince it was okay, but even with the volume on its lowest setting we only got about 5 minutes of positive reinforcement before he was done and went to hide in our cat's litter box.
Things we have tried:
Vet Visit - Our vet did senior blood work that came back looking great! He was also given a basic exam and there was nothing our vet identified as a potential problem. She did suggest that his hearing could be changing and as such new noises could be starting to be a lot more upsetting to him.
CBD - At the encouragement of our vet. This was completely ineffective even after several days at the max dose for his size. No improvement whatsoever in his reaction to the noise.
Gabapentin - He is currently taking this twice a day at a low starting dose that our vet prescribed. We are waiting on a call back from our vet about getting him a higher dose because the low dose isn't helping much. We have noticed a little bit of improvement but overall he is still just as reactive. The other issue with this is that sometimes he hears something that upsets him in the morning/evening before we have given him his meds and then he won't even consider eating his pill no matter what delicious treat it is wrapped up in.
Crate - He is crate trained and goes in his crate happily (especially because he always gets a treat for going in). We have tried having him go upstairs in his crate which is as far from the living room as possible but even then if he hears the noise he will go ballistic in his crate. It's to the point we are scared he will hurt himself trying to get out of it. (Have not been able to try this in combination with calming drugs yet)
Thundershirt - This barely helps. It's one that in conjunction with the gabapentin we feel like there was a slighter faster calm down time after hearing one of the bad sounds. He was still upset and shiver shaking but he definitely wasn't as bad as we have seen him in the past
Positive Reinforcement - We can't find a volume low enough that he can tolerate the sound. We are big believers in positive reinforcement but no matter how soft the sound is he gets very upset and will refuse to take a treat. (Have not been able to try this in combination with calming drugs yet)
Physical Restraint - We realize this probably wasn't the best route but early on, and occasionally still when we are desperate to just finish a movie or episode before turning the TV off for the night, we will hold him and make him stay on the couch. Once he gets up to start pacing he has to be watched to keep him from messing with litter boxes, hiding somewhere unsafe, peeing inside, and being destructive so we can't really just keep watching. Weirdly sometimes this helps but most of the time as soon as we let him go he starts shaking and freaking out.
Combining the noise with something he likes - We have tried playing the noise on very low volume while on a walk. He actually tried to get out of his harness in response to some sounds but we did find a couple that were only mildly upsetting and he tolerated. The REALLY bad noises though were off limits regardless of volume. (Have not been able to try this in combination with calming drugs yet)
We love our little guy but we can't live like this and we don't want him to live with this much fear. I'm not proud of it but I will admit we have yelled at him more lately because we are so frustrated with the situation. We always feel terrible for raising our voices but it's really hard when we never feel like we can relax because he is always so on edge. It's not that we have yelled every time or anything like that but it's happened a couple times in the past week. We really need help figuring out what to do because we feel like we are going crazy.
Things we are adding to the plan:
Clicker training - I did this with him after I first adopted him at about a year old. He responded well to it but it didn't stick as part of our training since it didn't feel necessary. I'm hoping if I can help him form a really positive association with the clicker it may be enough to counteract the bad noises.
Ear coverings - We ordered a couple of different ear protecting options for him to try out. He tolerated me putting them on him this morning but it wasn't enough to counteract the bad doorbell device. These are the two we got him: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CM6SKTPY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B0I5Z2O?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
Additional calming aids - We consulted with a trainer a long time ago about some general anxiety issues and they recommended trying these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGV8L7L2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details so we ordered some and will be starting them today. We also ordered these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077MDJ58Y?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 which our dog promptly determined were disgusting and he won't eat them.

2024.05.15 11:36 Not-explaining eFootball wishlist to Konami v2.2 (38 wishes)

eFootball wishlist to Konami v2.2 (38 wishes)
eFootball gameplay seem to be going in a bad direction for the past months. To much AI defending/assistance/game balancing, game adding input lag, interceptions, poor passing, fouls not called for, hot potato football not rewarding any type of skillful play. The gameplay feels like its on rails, freedom is gone, players don't respond to your inputs and chances are created by either teams AI players mistakes or incredibly stupid runs. It's just not fun to play anymore. Neither online or vs AI.
eFootball could be fantastic if Konami would listen to ideas, criticism and improve. Here is my wishlist. Feedback based on me and the kids playing on PS4, PS5 and mobile. Offline and online.
  1. Reduce the heavy AI assistance / game-balancing / handholding / Auto defending / Dynamic Difficulty / momentum / whatchamacallit (scr...). I understand its for getting new players staying in the game, having a chance getting coins in the events and winning games. And perhaps make games more non-predictable "anything can happen, maybe". With the current AI handholding level its "anything will happen, constantly". So many chances are created by either teams AI players making mistakes or just making incredibly stupid runs, its like a badly scripted B-movie. The amount of goalpost hits and missed open goals is just silly currently, this goes on until the last few minutes of each match. Please reduce it, or even remove it from Co-op and other game modes where skill should be rewarded. I'd rather get smashed 15-0 and learn from a good player. Than having to play another game with: added input lag and your players turn, react with 0,5 sec delay / 1 team loses every header / 4 shots in goalpost / own goals / missed open goals from 2-3m consequently, instead you have to run the ball into goal!!! / hide n seek players with pass receiver running away from the ball positioning behind defender / every ball intercepted / misdirected passes / every pass straight to other team / passes goes through "invisible" player / player freezing or even running wrong direction vs your stick / opponent attacking with high punt or lofted pass but your defender running past the ball towards opposition goal / ball glued to opposite player in the box / every attempt clearing the ball goes short distance straight to other team, even goalie high punt / all stunning shots 3m over the goal before 85min + all the other crap that's in there. This gameplay on rails is so unrewarding. If I manage to do something skillfull the AI assistance just kills the opportunity with any means. When the AI assistance takes a break, I get an easy goal with no effort from a random through pass + tap in. Many times I can't tell if I am playing well or the game has decided I should win/lose, it kills the joy for me and it's just boring. If Konami could tone down all the weird punishments I'd be very grateful.
  2. Passing and interceptions. Currently worst ever IMO. Game just decides your pass from a player in balance is 90-180 degrees of straight to opponent. Even on Beginner AI and no matter PA1, 2 or 3😂 And the constant interceptions. No flow in the game. Please work on this Konami.
  3. Remove the artificial input-lag. Stop punishing one side with artificial input lag which make the gameplay feel heavy, unresponsive and your players turn & react with 0,5sec delay. This is not from server lag as it's there in AI matches and local Trial matches as well, just switch controller between team 1 & 2 and feel the difference. Sometimes it activates in 2nd half, sometimes from beginning of game, usually when you are doing well. I assume its part of the game balancing mechanics. For me this is one of the worst things in the current game, when it kicks in your players don't respond to inputs in time and gameplay just feels awful.
  4. Fix the player freezing. Example: after losing a header to last defender suddenly your attacker just freezes. What's going on here? Have Konami added to much AI handholding and broken the game? 😂😂😂
  5. Reward different playstyles like build up play. Currently most games seem to be high press, interception ping-pong, quick pass and no dribbles. Hot potato football. Holding the ball has become very difficult. Before the AI assistance and auto defending went berzerk, you could actually keep the ball for a second and do something creative. Without 3-5 guys surrounding your player with no options. Now the gameplay is boring with the lack of variety.
  6. Create a game mode free from AI assistance & artificial input lag. Just pure skill. It could be beta, division free or whatever just let us play without the heavy AI handholding. And maybe eFootball will be esports ready 😉. To be honest if another football game is released without momentum/game-balancing /added input-lag and with gameplay based on pure skill. I think eFootball will lose a lot of players.
  7. Add Dream team into Trial match. We have 2 kids who love the card collecting and building their team. But playing online is of no interest to them, and won't be in many years. They want to play local PvP or co-op but with their own Dream team. By now we are very tired of playing the same local play Trial match Argentina Vs PSG. The kids have almost stopped playing eFootball, since they cant play against each other with their own team. In addition this would be a great way to test out new players, builds and game mechanics together with a friend. Much more fun than training mode. This mode is what my family is missing most from this game. And if it would be a "pure" mode without any momentum/game-balancing things would be fantastic. Just pure skill, best player wins.
  8. Please add Dream team to Trial match local co-op Vs AI. Would be so much fun to test your Dream Team against the AI together with the kids or a friend on the couch beside you. Would love this mode if it would become available.
  9. Add local co-op in Events. Would be great if me and the kids could take on the events together. At least add it to the AI events. Then we would actually play them and not just sim them.
  10. Myleague local co-op. Add both local and online co-op into Myleague please. A reason to play it and win the league together with the kids 😀
  11. Make My League worth playing. 100.000GP for completing 38 matches and winning the league is very poor IMO. Add some skill trainers and raise the GP perhaps?
  12. Add all Goal Scorers and Assisters to Half Time and Full Time game stats. So we can quickly get the overview of who performed well in both teams. That information would be highly appreciated.
  13. Contract renewal is way too expensive. Considering many players have paid plenty in real money to get the favourite players, and you only get to keep your player for 1 year. We are paying for this digital football Pokémon and we can't even use it as long as we would like. There should be more ways to get contract renewals, the periods should be longer, 3/6/9/12months and the price should be lower. Currently it's just irritating and another killing the fun factor.
  14. Make each playstyle worth using. And reward playing different type of formations. Instead of everyone using META 4 defenders and no wingers/LMF/RMF.
  15. Better & more expensive Point shop players. Can we please have some decent players? I'd gladly spend 50000-100000 pink points for a player if his stats are good. IMO there hasn't been an interesting player since Ferrer & Pires. Currently I don't see any use for points except contact renewal.
  16. Remove the GP cost for player reset. Having to wait for 2-3 months and then stressing for a few free weeks to retrain and test new builds doesn't make sense. GP is too valuable for me, I use it for Legacy Transfer and Contract renewal, and the few occasional GP buys for Events or hidden gems. I enjoy training players and trying out new builds, if free it would keep me logging in even when there is nothing else to do in the game.
  17. Reduce the cost for Legacy transfer. Getting your wanted skills and then transferring to your favourite player is one of the game aspects I really like. But 257,000 GP for one transfer is a lot and takes away much of the fun in Legacy transfer. You get 1 Mbappe for less than 2 Legacy transfer. I am always low on GP these days, and I think 100,000-150,000 GP would be reasonable for Legacy transfer for 1 skill.
  18. Legacy transfer of skills to POTW cards. If we could add 1-2 skills to the POTW the cards would be more interesting and I'd spend more coins spinning. We would get more varied and unpredictable squads instead of everybody using the same players. Most players know the good cards, what to expect from opponents cards and how to counter. Lets say you add some strong passing or shooting skills to a player usually weak in that aspect. The unpredicability would be awesome!
  19. Replace/delete added skills. Building players would be much more fun if I could replace a trained skill with another one using legacy transfer. Or just be able to delete an added skill. Perhaps my playstyle changes and I want Neymar to have Through passing instead of the previously added Long-range shooting.
  20. GP an option for pack spins. But it shouldn't be easy. Hard grind should be rewarded as it gives a reason to play the game. I am thinking 7,5M GP you get 75 spins in a 150 pack. That takes perhaps 6 months to grind. And perhaps the remaining 75 spins is coins only. Lower thresholds like 10 spins för 1M GP would be great but I understand its not gonna happen, as it would hurt the coin sales.
  21. Remove the 500 player cap or reduce cost of adding player slots. If you are grinding skill trainers with 0GP players and training players the 500 fills up quite easily. Or reduce the 500.000GP for an extra 50 players to maybe 100.000GP. This 500 player limit is very annoying and seems unnecessary.
  22. Add skill trainers and position trainers to each match pass. Would make the Match Pass way more interesting and I would spend coins.
  23. Make it worthwhile playing League / divisions. Currently I don't see much reason to play it. A few skill trainers and low GP reward can't motivate me spending the time.
  24. Find a way to prevent players from forfeiting games, at least events and co-op. Maybe if you are down a few goals sometimes add a random bonus like score with player X to receive 1 skill trainer, 10000 GP or something. Just to motivate players completing the match. Or create a non forfeit streak, like 10, 20 or 30 games without forfeit and you get an free extra POTW spin. (Part of this idea is from efootball universe originally)
  25. 1st celebration should also be skippable. It's just time consuming in online games. Not adding any value to except maybe noobs who scored their first goal ever.
  26. An option to make Sub tactic clearly visible in Game plan if activated. I played to many games now without knowing I had sub-tactic activated 😂
  27. Matchmaking. This was good for a while after the matchmaking update, but not anymore. There must be something seriously wrong here. When playing in Division 9 to 7, we constantly get division 1-2 opponents in the events. Had top 120 and top 200 in a row even. 750M downloads and nobody else playing. Really?
  28. The daily penalty needs an upgrade. Suggestion: More fun If I could choose player from my Dream Team. And add random Epic goalies to spice it up 😉
  29. Add statistics of headers, penalties and free kicks scored on each player card. This would add value and make it more interesting building squads. Konami you have the data, use it!
  30. More variety in Events. BBVA, Turkish, Brazilian Italian, English, Japan league. Over and over and over... Cmon Konami create something different so we can rotate our squads more. Suggestion: An event where only max 4 star players are allowed? Or higher GP rewards the weaker squad you use? (idea is partly from Rockchok)
  31. More Beat the Clock type of events. Both me and the kids enjoyed this one. Create something similar for skill moves. Example: Perform 5 Double touch + 5 Marseille turn across pitch with fixed dummies or defending players. Or a sequence where you have to perform skill move x and y before scoring.
  32. Objectives with extra bonuses. Add weekly objectives or similar. Score a hat-trick, win on penalties or score 5 times using skill move. And get some type of rewards, GP, Skill trainers, Position trainers, avatars, whatever just variety and something to play for.
  33. Co-op events. So much potential but the gameplay on rails, AI assistance and the constant random AI punishments kills the fun for me. You feel almost instantly if the AI assistance is on your side or against you. Either everything goes your way and it's too easy or Epics can't make a simple pass, the input lag kicks in and your player is even dragged out of position so the other team can score. Every game feels pre-decided with almost every touch being a mistake or fumble by the team who is supposed to concede a goal. Or its 1 goal back and forth with short sequences where the conceeding team can't touch the ball. In my experience the AI assistance is at its worst in the Co-op games. Quite easy to spot as players regularly just drop the controller. And game continues to auto defend like prime AC Milan, the non-active player is forcefielded holding the ball, every ball in the box is magically sucked to defenders feet and passes and clearings going 90-180 degrees off straight to opponent. Recent example which has happened in several co-op games: Goalie makes several stupid run outs to a perfect 4 man defending line, leaving the net wide open. Changing goalie doesn't help. Same thing with 2nd goalie until opponent gets his 2 goals. Sorry but when my player, gameplay and result is controlled by AI instead of me and my teammate I lose interest.
  34. Add 2nd local player to co-op events. Why can't 2 players join the co-op events together from one Playstation? Me and the kids would play co-op events a lot if this was possbile.
  35. Booster player forms. Wirtz card and several other are never on A-form. Whats the point of creating a booster card then? (credit: PES Pepe)
  36. Communication. Info on gameplay changes in each update would be appreciated. Like before. (credit: PES Pepe)
  37. Heavy first touch or fumble receiving the ball. +90 Ball control player cant receive a pass without starting to fumble or needing several seconds to gain control, then losing the ball, again and again and again. Does stats even matter when game balancing just decides anyway?
  38. Don't launch Crossplay with mobile. I suspect the recent braindead heavy assisted gameplay is needed for upcoming crossplay console & mobile update. This might be what we are getting. Gameplay on rails, autodefend, no skill, unrewarding, boring. I hope I am wrong and the previous fun gameplay on console is not gone forever 😢.
  39. Master League? Promised some years ago. I guess it does not generate enough coin sales?
  40. Edit mode. Create a custom crest and kits for our dream team.
  41. AI games are boring and inconsistent. Even on easier difficulties the game balancing makes you miss so many chances in 1st half, open goals whatever. Then in 2nd its just walk the ball into box and quick shot goal. But if you decide to pass the ball in the box then it's magnet to defender, why not reward passing in the box? The inconsistency in the AI is just bad. And the coding seems lazy. I watch our 11 year old play and do all the right things, but the game just kills all her self-created chances. On harder difficulties even if I read the play and position perfectly to intercept a pass, the pass goes straight through my defender. And adding to that the constant interceptions and not being able to hold ball more than 0.3sec. To my understanding the AI was better before without having to bypass game mechanics (cheat), instead it was actually playing smarter. How hard is it to develop AI gameplay which is both fun, rewarding and teaching how to play better?
  42. Player speed is broken. The slowest defender will catch up in 2-3 seconds with any attacker running with the ball. No matter stats of players. You make a great pass but this broken game mechanic ruins the opportunity. This is both unrealistic and highly unrewarding.
  43. Player switching. Another game mechanic which seems broken and with hidden punishments added. I have mostly been using semi-assist and player oriented switching, but recently switched to ball-oriented. And in my experience. When the game is against you, it constantly punishes you with bad player switching and worst default player selection. Many times the game refuses to switch to player in front of ball when I am trying to defend. Instead I am flicking through the guys behind the attacking player, while I am trying to get control of my defender. When I have free kick against me, default player is always the worst possible option eg. my CF standing 10m behind the free kick taker. Why? I enjoy a challenge but having to fight with my controller is not one of them.
  44. Sort player list by team name. Would help when choosing team for events. And a nice feature when browsing all my players.
Some of these are cosmetics and should be quite easy to implement, whereas others like new type of events takes more effort. Dream team in Trial mode and adding already existing local Co-op to more events/game modes shouldn't be that difficult. Gameplay affecting changes are likely hard and need to be tested so it doesn't affect game in a negative way.
I guess Konami calculates profits are better by pushing all players to online play. But at the same time they are neglecting the player group which prefers offline, and are willing to buy coins to get their favourite players cards. Hopefully Konami will reconsider, add a proper Master League and more offline modes with co-op and PvP.
All in all it should result in a more enjoyable experience for both ballers, casuals, squad-builders, card-collectors and those who just want offline couch co-op or PvP with their Dream team. More people having fun and spending time in the game usually results in praise, recommendations and growing user count = more coins spent. Konami keeps earning and customer base is happy. Everyone wins.
/ Cheers and thanks for reading

2024.05.15 05:22 featherwinglove I did it again, a new Trimps novelization (more faithful to story messages than the other one) Tightniks Run Zero

[OC Intro: The game is modded to increase basic jobs cost, seasonal events are disabled. Much of the crash details are based on NASA/SP-2008-565 Columbia Crew Survival Investigation Report recommendations especially Chapter 3 "Occupant Protection".]
The ship is without power, and Tightniks can't run the radar much without draining the batteries. He has only a few minutes of APU power left, goes over the best clearing he can find, and radars it. It varies by only a few feet from the aerodynamic glideslope there. He spots it out on the cameras and circles to go after that spot. He's only at two hundred feet now. With one hand on the stick, he uses the other to open the pressure equalization valve on the side hatch, then at one hundred feet, gets it undogged. Depending on how much damage he's going to get, it's less likely to be stuck closed and trap him. The dynamic vacuum this pulls in the cockpit rips most of the survival pack data cards from that rack and scatters them across the landscape. Crap, I'm gonna need those! Refocusing on surviving the next few seconds, he turns on the radar for the final approach, takes a last look around, then straight ahead at his forward camera and PFD, he clicks his HANS and shoulder strap locks in; after that, he can barely move, but that now is better than dying in this crash with a broken neck. He's a decent pilot and brings up the flare gently. Bringing up the alpha on this delta-winged ship, he balloons a little, but keeps the nose going up and restores a zero aerodynamic sink rate just above the highest terrain indicated by the radar altimeter. The ship bumps a little in the ground effect, and he can see the radar altitude cycling irregularly up and down about five feet at a time. Rougher than it looked from higher up! The body flap protecting the dead engines hits first, and the nose comes rapidly down. It hits, the screens go blank, and Tightniks is surrounded by airbags, some lifting his feet from the rudder petals and his hand from the control stick. It's blinding, it's disorienting, it's noisy, and, to his relief, it's long! It takes several seconds before the crashing cockpit stops moving. How many times did he flip over? Did he go sideways and roll? Am I rightside up? Are we really stopped on the ground? The airbags deflate, and he can move his arms. He gets his restraints loose and inspects himself. "Uck!" he says out loud (without the 'f'). No broken bones. His pressure suit can take his blood pressure. 116/81, pulse 112, blood oxygen 99 reads off on his left arm, I'll friggin' take it!
The ship is amazingly intact from what he can tell. He can't get any readings. The systems test meter seems to be working, but can't find any voltages anywhere. The ship seems to be completely dead. Behind him, 10 passenger seats are all surrounded by airbags and the back of the cabin ends in some sort of dirt-and-gravel and there's a bit of daylight seeping in around the edges. He was the only one on board, though, so their deployment was mostly academic (they might have stiffened the structure a little during the crash, but that's probably trivial.) Tightniks gets out of his spacesuit. The air on this planet is actually breathable. He gets the hatch open, steps outside and-
"A green shimmer erupts then disappears, and you hit the ground."
The human emerges from the glowing green mist and hits the ground. Groans. Pushes against that ground, trying to get back up. Where am I? What's my name? I remember nothing. Aren't babies born naked? He's got a dark blue button-down shirt on. A uniform? A shoulder patch. Gets up, looks around. I feel really heavy. I'm not that fat, am I? He picks up a small stone from the ground, this also feels heavier than it should. He rises to his feet and holds it out somewhat (he's unable to fully extend his arm) and lets it go. The stone hits the ground near his feet quickly and with remarkable speed. It's the gravity, it's greater than it is on- ...where am I from? This is- ...not my home planet? "Oooh..."
"Ka?" it says.
What is that? It's cute, at least.
It is not tame. He has no hope of catching it on foot. The creature seems to like the berries. Maybe if I gather some of those into one place and set some kind of trap...
33s: First trap.
I got one! The human lumbers up to the trap and gets the catch open. Do you bite? It doesn't matter much to me; I'm so friggin' screwed.
It doesn't. It looks at the human with a sense of wonder, actually. A blink and tilt of the head. Seems almost to be asking, Is it you? My purpose? My savior? Once out of the trap, which is totally wrecked, he has to make a new one from scratch, it follows him around like a imprinted hatchling bird.
Wiry little fella, you are. You're going to need some bulking up to do anything useful. The- ...'trimp', I guess... The trimp seems just barely able to feed itself. The human lets him into the broken ship's intact cabin, and it curls up comfortably in a passenger seat for a nap.
1m03s: Second trap.
"Apparently the Trimps breed if they're not working. Doesn't look pleasant."
What are they doing?
The trimps appear to be androgynous, and these two have paired off in the back of the ship. They're holding something carefully within a few hours, feeding it berries, grass, and- ...corundum.
Corundum?? Whatever that is, it isn't a baby.
1m35s: Third trap.
Only it IS a baby! The third trimp he trapped immediately joined the other two in raising it. They have a strange diet of food the human has found compatible with his own body, but they also eat rocks! They're careful to crush and sort aluminate minerals from silcate ones and only eat aluminate. Actually, they don't eat aluminate, they're only feeding it to the baby.
2m06s: Fourth trap.
All four are raising the same child, who is just starting to toddle. It seems these fellas have alumina or maybe even aluminum bones. The human takes a nap and wakes to find the first child grown up and they're starting to raise a second child, all five of them.
2m46s: Huts.
The human found a working bit of electronics. He calls it a pad, but maybe it's more like a smartphone. It has plans for two residential structures. The first, the smaller one, he can build right away, but the second one needs something called "drywall", and he has to figure out how to make that before he can build it. Huts and houses, apparently.
3m13s: 10 pop, full, first farmer.
The trimp he trained to farm and make paper took an incredible 50 units of food to get bulked up to do the work, and now it's not participating in rearing the child. But less than an hour after the trimp started farming and pulping, the child was out on its own, and the trimps did not start another. The ten seats on the ship were all full. Well, eleven counting the one up front that the human sleeps in. The pilot starts exploring the area.
3m28s: Battle.
Wait, what are you do-
The hostile roars and charges at the human, but one of his trimps jumps in front of him with a stick and they fight. It started right when the human got far enough away from the ship that the hostile non-trimps away from the ship began to regard him as leaving his own territory. After the trimp defeats the first enemy, it continues after other hostiles.
3m53s: Shield I in Z1c5.
The human is easily able to recover the loot in the territory cleared by the fighting trimp. Then he sees something glinting in the- That can't be! What the heck is that? It's a data card that fits his pad. It quite clearly regards trimp combat. He gets it loaded into his pad and studies it. I can do this, it just takes some wood. He returns to the ship to discover that they had already started on a new child before the fighter had even expired in battle. The human concentrates on his research.
4m38s: Mskel in Z1c11 defeated.
The remains of this one seem rather white and shiny. It's titanium! This enemy had titanium bones! He'll store them away. They'll be useful someday, I'm sure.
5m52s: Dagger I in Z1c20.
Where are these data cards coming from? The human wonders as he loads this one into his pad, It's for a weapon it calls a dagger. He blinks. I don't know what a dagger is. I'll take your word for it, data card. Needs metal. He has gathered some, but ore is plentiful. He can just dig and smelt it whenever he wants. For now, I'll continue researching.
6m18s: Arable in Z1c21.
It's an old cave that trimps like to live in. Why weren't they able to live there before? How could these friendly critters be confined to only the exact spot where THAT thing, he looks back where he came from, not remembering that he piloted the wrecked ship to its current resting place, crashed? This is really strange. I'll let them fill up this cave before advancing further. Wait, what about defenses? The hostiles never try to reclaim territory that they've lost, so he stops worrying about that fairly quickly.
8m22s: First hut is 0.3% first ever AP.
The trimps seem fairly easy to please in terms of living quarters. Two move into his first hut and start raising a child. The human has his tent, uniform, and the heater pilfered from his space suit. Not much of a mud fan.
9m59s: Miners in Z1c30.
Oh, what's on this data card? Sl3niw? Oh, I'm holding the pad upside down. Miners. I can teach trimps how to mine ores and smelt met- 200 units of food? Each job is getting more expensive to train a trimp for. He puts his bee nickels to his eyes and spots another data card probably 10 enemies away. "Sc"? Does that means science? I can teach trimps to do science??
13m57s: Scientists in Z1c40.
Due to the expense of training trimps, the human couldn't afford to build them shields until now, he's got Sh1-3 made for the fighter to capture the science training data card. 14m02s: One head went into that turtlimp shell, that of his fighter, but two came out: his fighter still has his head on, and he managed to get the turtlimp's head off. It rushes off after the deadly penguimp in the next cell. The shields are not doing all that much good, actually, but they're better than nothing. The human picks up and loads the science data card and- Holy runny sugar-free fudge crap! 1000 food units, but it'll endow them with the ability to speak. Good. I'm getting bored with no one to talk to.
14m28s: Bloodlust purchased and AutoFight enabled (that delay after getting it is an effect of jacking up the job cost.)
As the human buries this expired little trimp warrior, he comes to the sobering realization that he has more trimp graves in his growing trimp colony than he does live trimps. And yet they seem more hopeful now than before I got to know any of them. They seem to think I'm the solution to all their problems or- Those two look east somberly, then notice that he's watching them and smile back and wave at him. ...one problem that is specific, but very, very huge for them. [The only reason I say 'east' is because that's right on a map, and the game advances right across a row, then up. I might say 'northeast' on occasion for that reason.]
20m47s: Z1c73, Miners taken.
Are you my new mining foreman? The trimp who took to the mining training has dark brown fur that lays flat on its head. It's unusual in not having any bits that stick out from its head, ahoge or whatever. This one is relatively quiet, and while it has assimilated the mining and smelting knowledge, it needs to bulk up to do any mining. Smelting is relatively easy, and getting a strong natural draft going in a furnace is almost trivial with the increased gravity. This trimp builds furnaces like nothing. And likes to nap in holes it digs right on the spot; it's weird that way. [Puchim@s Yukipo, and furnaces are not explicit in Trimps.]
21m58s: Farming in Z1c80.
The resourcing "books" are not data cards but paper scrolls, apparently lost to the trimps. It seems that they were civilized in the recent past and some calamity swept over the planet to reduce them to this. Did I have something to do with it? Amnesia sucks harder than a Dyson- ...what's a Dyson? Whatever, it sucks. This disaster happening just before I crash in the only spot with trimps still alive would be a seriously crazy coincidence! Something is really, really wrong about all this. [The author has not sought or received product placement permission or fee from Dyson Technology Ltd. or any resellers of their stuff, just they literally suck balls and made my favorite vacuum cleaner.]
23m50s: Builder in Z1c90.
They've rescued an, I dunno, gelding trimp? It just started to build a shed around the piled lumber I left to build one. It's really slow compared to me, and just banged its thumb, but it is super cute with that long reddish head fur. That particular trimp is also fascinated with pink ribbons and likes to decorate its head fur with them. Because of its inherent inability to participate in rearing children, it isn't counted in the population. [Puchim@s Io, builder on the basis of Iori seen building in 1x10.]
26m02s: Zone 2, 44 pop, 5.5s RC with Z0/1.
It's some sort of tactical manual - tactical coordination. Coordination! He's starting to sort out some trimpese on the research he has done so far. It needs a lot of metal, so they won't be able to implement it for some time. Hopefully, they're still good one at a time, but these enemies seem to be getting bigger as we go along. Uh oh!
27m33s: Gym in Z2c5.
It's some sort of training dojo or sporting arena. The human examines the ruins, I think I can back-engineer drawings for this, get one built, and see what happens.
29m02s: 1g, 47 pop, 10.8s RC with Z1/2.
The two fighting trimps now with their gym and coordination are dodging and blocking enthusiastically, and making much faster ground against the bad guys then a little while ago when it was just one trimp fighting at a time and unable to avoid the enemy hitting back.
40m46s: Fresh turkimp in Z2c74, 63 pop, 7.9s RC, Sh1-10, Da1-5, Bo1-3, Ma1-3, Hm1-3, 6g.
Oh, wow, the laborers seem really hot after this turkimp. He cooks it up and tries a slice. It's really awesome! I have to work alongside his laboring trimps to share it, but I'm getting used to the gravity now. That scroll we found back in Z2c10 really helped. Trimps' techniques and appliances for handicapped individuals, and I'm really handicapped in this higher gravity. He joins the woodcutters with the turkimp; they're the most numerous resource laborer right now, building more gyms, enough that the block/dodge ability of the fighting trimps is almost caught up to the enemy's ability to cause damage.
43m15s: Zone 3, 63 pop, 7.9s RC with Z1/2.
I'm neglecting my science and trimp scientists are really expensive. Curiously, that grey-haired one can't speak all that well, only says "Tai" and "Shijou", but it can write and draw like nobody's business. It's the only scientist so far. [Puchim@s Takanya: Online references probably still claim that she can utter the first two syllables of any word, but she can actually utter only the first two kana syllables of someone's name, most often the given name of basis human Takane Shijou, who also has that habit. (All the utterances of the puchidoru are based on the speech foibles of their basis humans except maybe Piyopiyo, where I haven't seen anything match up so far.)]
47m32s: Finally, we can make drywall and houses. 59m30s: Z3c77, 94 pop, 7.8s RC.
Oh, those poor things are really struggling up at the front. These trimps are enthusiastic and know no fear, but I still feel like telling them to stop for a while. I don't have the heart to keep them from trying while they're still doing some damage.
1h05m24s: Zone 4, 107 pop, 9.3s RC with Z3/4. 1h15m26s: Zone 5, 120 pop, 8.2s RC with Z3/4.
"What is that?" the human asks. He has three scientists. His first does all the writing, but the other two can actually speak. One of them hops up on a rock spire beside the human to reach his eye level.
At the next ridge line, over the lowest and most passable gap in the terrain, this really mean looking hovering sausage monster.
"I dunno," the scientist trimp shrugs, "But it's making me hungry. Looks like a perfectly cooked frankfurter from here." [John Morell's dubious dirigibles.]
"Oh, yeah," the human nods, "that's a blimp."
"A blimp?" the trimp tilts its head quizzically at the human, "How could you know?"
"I wish I could tell you, little buddy," the human extends his arm braces to descend the pass on the side of the zone boundary in the boss enemy's direction, then grunts, "Let's go kill it."
1h16m11s: Z1c9, 120 pop, 10.3s RC with Z4/5. 1h33m34s: Zone 6, 151 pop, 7.4s RC with Z4/5.
1h33m54s: TP in Z1c3.
"What's this?" the human asks, having picked up the little square document with the curling corners.
"Oh," the hungry scientist looks at it, "It's a garden path, follow me."
"You want to lead me down the garden path?" the human says.
"Yeah," the scientist says.
"Are you kidding?" the human asks.
"No," says the other scientist, "We don't get human humor. Listen, these fighters can't go, let them wear themselves out here, then we'll take the next group through this garden."
"Okay," the human nods, watching two more trimps join the fray as he issues the Z5 coordination orders, "they're doing pretty well after all that block training research we just wrapped up." [That's a common artifact, even in normal games, Z5 Traintacular combines with many gyms, enough population to add several trainers, affording Blockmaster, which is expensive on a run zero, plus a break on Tion Z5, a 40% all-stat increase. I don't think Zach designed it into the game on purpose, it just worked out this way.]
1h34m07s: 151 pop, 10.5s RC with Z5/7. 1h37m44s: Drop from Z6c39, TP for 3.
"Now we have these access map frags we can use to route through the old trimpopoli," the scientist explains, "Atlimpis for food, Morimpa for gems, Everimp for metal, and Impazon for wood."
"What about the garden?" the human asks.
"Well, we got lucky with Tricky Paradise," the scientist says, "but you can randomize the route and maybe get lucky. What's with that look?"
"Somehow, I'm remembering 'frag' as something that blew up with deadly pieces," the human says. [Different video games - ones with better graphics and worse gameplay O(>▽<)O]
1h39m59s: Blues back up to the top on series I...
"Tai, Tai!" the first ever trimp scientist stops the human just before he upgrades the mace and dagger to Mk.6 and Mk. 8 respectively. It has a note for him.
"Why do you keep calling me that?" the human asks, "Do you think that's my name?"
"Shijou, Shijou," it nods as though to indicate, I KNOW it is. Then it proffers its note again. The human takes it and reads, "Don't upgrade the first row equipment right now."
"Why not?" the human asks.
"Shijou," it points at the end of the mapped route, where there's a scroll sticking out of the thistles.
2h24m07s: Zone 8, 224 pop, 12.2s RC with Z7/12.
"Your settlement is getting crowded, there's Trimps in the streets, and you're taking heat. You feel a sudden strong desire to create a map, though you're not quite sure how that would help."
2h49m10s: Zone 9, 357 pop, 9.5s RC with Z8/15.
"You can't shake the feeling that you've been here before. Déjà-vu?"
The trimps really seem to like the new high capacity mansions, and the village has rapidly expanded since they started building them.
"There's something familiar about this," the human says.
"Tai," the grey one that writes clings to his arm and shows him a note that says, "Don't give up now."
"We must persist," says the yellow one has found a foothold it can grab onto and grabs the human's shoulder gently, "If you give up to early, we'll never solve this. You'll be stuck here forever."
The human puts his hand over the trimp's paw on his shoulders, then looks at him, "I can die, too."
"No, you can't," the trimp says quietly, "Please don't test that, tall one."
"Death is just another path..." he remembers.
"Gan," the grey one squeaks. [That's the first two kana syllables of "Gandalf"]
"...one that we all must take," the human continues, "The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it-"
"A green mist," the yellow trimp interrupts, "flash of fire, we're all gone and our progress forgotten. The wandering stars return to that day, and you again crash that ship- ...a little better every time."
"Wait," the human looks around, "have I been here before?"
"I-" the yellow trimp tries in futility to share what little it knows, "...or... somebody got just a little coolant into the-"
"Into the what?"
"This side up," the grey one's note says.
"Into the that," the yellow one points at the note, "It really helped. You- ...I don't think we've ever had mansions before."
Well, of course they didn't have mansions before. That was one of my ship's data cards. How did it get way out here? Will anything start to make sense?
3h02m13s: Zone 10, 387 pop, 8.7s RC with Z8/15; '28s: 11.1s RC with Z9/19. 3h16m41s: Tough snimp after food book, L10 rand dept from lo-hi-med 118/25/96, 4 Items.
"That's twice our frags led us to gem-rich Moria," the human says.
"Morimpa," the new red trimp scientist corrects, there now being 5 scientists. [There'd be more if there were more turkimp.]
"The question is how do we use all these gems?" the human looks at the village zoning plans again, "I like those mansions and all, but they use hardly any gems compared to, well-" he gestures at the pile of over two dozen thousand gems they've gathered, "-that! And still a lot of wood and lumber."
"I think there's something," the yellow one sighs, "I wish I knew more."
Quite some time later, after they're done looting that route for equipment plans, the trimps are again advancing through Zone 10, and he hears it.
"Tai?" the grey one wonders.
"Where are you going?" the yellow one asks.
"To the farm," the human answers.
"Whatever for?" the red one seems exasperated.
"Shijou?" the grey one sighs, then looks at the fighting front. It's been around long enough to remember, "Shijou!"
"You guys already get so much to eat this doesn't do you much good," the human explains.
3h32m33s: L11 112/35/78 rand sea, dropped from Z11c6 with disband, 4.
"What's wrong?" the red one asks.
The human comforts one of the wounded. Once trimps start into a zone fight, they have to finish before they bleed out. He's really bothered making them desert in front of that second turkimp. "They had a lot left in them," he sighs, rubbing his eyes, "but we can't keep that much dead turkimp at once, we have to leave it alive to use up all of this one."
"Shijou," the grey one presents a note, "We need this map right away, anyway. Don't worry about it, Tightniks."
"Tightniks?" he looks at the grey one, "Is that me? How do you know?"
"Tai," the grey one points at the top of the human's left breast pocket.
"Ah, crud," the yellow one curls its tail around in front of itself as trimps do when they're embarrassed, "Is that really a name tag?"
The human hadn't even noticed it since the green flash blew up his memory as he was stepping out of the ship.
4h04m22s: Block (sub-8h AP is only 0.3%), taking it, 504 pop, 9.8s RC with Z10/24.
It's a pretty thick book about using shields for block instead of hit points. The pad has the stats analysis. Sh3-1 is only giving us 9% of our hit points. Turning to his trimp scientists, he says, "It seems to me to be worth it."
"Let's," the yellow one nods.
"Shijou," it hands him a note, "It scales badly, but that won't matter for a long time. I think there's a way to undo it before it matters."
"Doing it." The human takes out his pad and starts scanning.
4h29m05s: L14 rand moun 137/26/80 is really good for a lo-hi-med. 4h30m52s: Hotels.
"Ah," the yellow one says, "I knew there was something. That must be it."
5h08m09s: L15 lo-hi-hi rand gard 129/28/82 (just got explorers). 5h09m32s: Picked up Wall.
"Dam," the human says.
"Damn?" the red one chuckles.
"No," the human says, "Earthen wall dam; it's a thing that makes artificial lakes by holding rivers back."
"Lakes?" the yellow one asks, "Rivers?"
"Oh yeah," the human says, "This planet doesn't have enough rain for those..."
5h48m21: Leaving Wall from about c70 to fetch Tion Z15.
"You can't resume the map from the same point if you start another," the human reads the grey one's note.
"We can go back to the same point on that route if we hold there and finish Zone 15, right?" Tightniks asks.
"Shijou!" it seems to be saying yes.
"Yes," the yellow one adds, "but we're out of Series III upgrades, and you need a fresh map route to start up Series IV."
"We should be okay," Tightniks says, "but if we have to start it over, I don't see that being a big deal." As they advance through the rest of Zone 15, Tightniks resumes his usual duties at the research desk instead building and running traps like he was before.
The trimps seem hopeful at this decision.
5h49m10s: Fresh turkimp. 5h50m16s: Zone 16, 1071 pop, 13.4s RC with Z15/75, 13m43s turkimp (skel in c1.)
"Z:16 Seriously? Another Blimp so soon?"
"So," Tightniks lowers his bee nickels and looks at the red one, "is it going to be boss fights at the end of every zone from now on?"
"Hmm," the red trimp looks up past the human at some random rock spire or cloud.
"Well?" the human persists.
"Yup," he says.
"Hmph," Tightniks grabs a Sw3-1 of the rack and advances towards the front, "Before then, we have another Mister Titanium."
"What does he like about skeletimps?" the red one asks the grey one as the human marches off.
"Shijou?" the grey one seems just as confused by that.
"He's not going back to the ship, and he's not getting himself killed," the yellow one smiles, "so I'll take it."
5h58m32s...
"Hey guys, go for the mortar!" the human suggests to his 75 fighting trimps in the Wall's boss fight.
"I can tell from your bedtime stories that you're used to the artillery in that other place," the yellow one gripes, "but fighting works differently here, there's no artillery."
And the human instantly collapses laughing, the scientists a little worried he might have injured himself in the planet's severe gravity. But he's okay, at least physically, "Mortar is the stuff between the bricks, fellas. That's is a brickimp, right?"
5h59m18s: Wall, 1076 pop, 13.3s RC, 1% AP for sub-8h finish, first L16 roll good 156/35/84 moun, 10 for the metal.
Beyond the Wall was a more edenic section of the trimpolis ruins, doubling the production of the lumberjacks. The trimps are actually really happy with the mode of all of the laborers moving between the three big jobs, along with the turkimp, except for the foremen specialized at leading the job. It isn't enough to boost their productivity, but the human goes to them with trays of sandwiches.
6h06m52s: 50 map run 0.3% AP...
6h19m13s: Zone 17, 1141 pop, 16.0s RC with Z16/94, no turkimp.
"Z:17 You climb a large cliff and look out over the new Zone. Red dirt, scorched ground, and devastation. Is that a Dragimp flying around out there?!"
"Hmm," the human surveys the new zone with his bee nickels, "Looks like crap. Any ideas?"
"You're the idea man," the yellow one groans.
"Set the map flag," he puts his bee nickels away, "We'll run a depth for practice and to load up on gems for more hotels."
"Righto," the red one gets to work.
6h44m34s: First DCP. (Draglimp Care Package; I refuse to call it a tribute.)
"Oh," the human says, "It's tame now, so it brings back gems in exchange for food?" He looks at his gaping scientists, "That's what it looks like, huh? Guys? Yo!"
"Tai..." the grey one sighs.
Draglimp, the dragimp imprinted on Tightniks, lands beside the human, drops some gems at his feet, and accepts some scratching behind its horns before diving into the food bowl.
"You tamed a dragimp???" Grey's note says.
"Well," the yellow one huffs, "I guess that happened."
8h18m53s: L20 depth of 154/27/79.
"Mapping up here?" the red one half closes one eye and tilts his head.
"Yeah," the human says while fitting together the depth map fragments, "With the coordination book not right at the end, we have an extra mark of coordination to take advantage of. Let's take our housing up to 2000 or so, shall we?"
"Okay," the yellow one says from a pile of logs, "What's all the wood for?" They had been collecting it for days now.
"The series upgrades follow a rather specific pattern," Tightniks explains, "Just on the other side of this blimp is Zone 21, where we should be able to find the Shield series V, right?"
"Shijou!" the grey one nods.
8h56m17s: 1% AP for 100 map runs, leaving it, 1751 pop, 24.8s RC with Z20/232. 8h56m54s: Zone 21...
"Ooooookay," Tightniks growls, "There is something off about this thing."
"Shijou?" the grey one looks at the yellow one with concern about their human starship pilot friend.
The human stoops, picks up the little green gem on the ridge between Zone 20 and 21, looks at it, huffs, and asks, "Any idea where this comes from?"
"Err..." the red one seems hesitant to say, "I think you made it."
"Really?" the human huffs, "How could that be?" Then he tosses it at Red, "See if anything reacts to it. It might be radioactive, so we should take turns to minimize exposure."
"Really?" Red's holding it now, "What makes you say that?"
"Because I'm pissed off for no reason I can figure out," the human says, "I think it's coming from that."
"Frags," the red one says quickly, "I think it's arranging a route. You're good with maps," it tosses the gem to the grey scientist.
"Shijou," the grey one says hopefully, and has a map drawn within a few minutes. [Whether it looks like the one in Puchim@s 1x61 is anyone's guess. That one annoyed me as well as Chihya.]
9h02m37s: L21 moun first roll was a decent 160/26/84. 9h21m00s: Starting run 5 of that map...
Tightniks had taken his anger out on some food and wood to build about 8000 traps. Now he's leaning against a rock spire in his increasingly tattered uniform. A nap begins, perhaps unintentionally.
Wild trimps are examining the pile, finding it unwelcoming, and also finding no place in the town, just mill about. It looks like they want to help.
"Ku?" it's a blue trimp, probably a farmer waiting for stuff to grow, climbs up on the rock spire the human is leaning against, starts patting him on the head, "Ku. Ku ku." [Puchim@s Chihya.]
9h23m09s: Still working that lap...
Tightniks wakes up from that nap, and the grey one is standing there. "Shijou," it says with a note of concern, although not much of one. The note it holds says, "It wasn't me."
"Oh, what wasn't you, buddy?" He stretches out a bit, feeling somewhat refreshed. It feels like somebody washed his face and hair while he was sleeping.
The grey one is also holding a small mirror, apparently broken off from a larger mirror and with the sharp edges filed down to make the edges safe.
The human takes it from the grey trimp and holds it in front of his face to discover that somebody has bound up all his hair into about twenty little pigtails. He touches them with his other hand to confirm. "Eh, whatever." He hands the mirror back and goes back to sleep. [Puchim@s Koamimami.]
9h30m08s: The following run...
"He's not throwing stuff every which way yet," the yellow one whispers to the red one, watching the human snoozing with his pad on his knee.
"You remember that, too?" the red one asks.
"'Remember'?" the yellow one turns to face the red one, "I s'pose that's better than imagining it."
"I remember it, too," the grey one says via a playing card sized note.
"If we're stuck in a time loop," the yellow one sighs, "maybe this cycle will be different."
"Tai..." the grey one admires him for a moment. Then thumbs in the direction of the mountain, "Heh, Shijou!" it laughs.
9h35m58s: Run 8, c9 of that map.
The scientists nap and take notes, and meditate and take notes, and draw stuff. The grey one often storyboards for the other nine because it's the best at drawing stuff. They have come up with a list, and most probably "order" (they're debating whether their ranking means "order" (sequence of things happening over the various loops) or "frequency" (what proportion of previous loops they have happened in). But they've come up with this, from first (or perhaps most often) to most recent (or perhaps least often):
- The ship crashes (they're pretty sure that happens every loop) - The human builds huts - The human teaches some of his trimps to speak and do science - The human builds houses - The human makes maps - The human builds mansions - The human blows up and gets himself killed somewhere around Z17 to Z21, often on a dragimp - The human only recently/occasionally builds hotels - The human only recently/rarely tamed a dragimp - The human only recently/rarely maps the Dimension of Anger
They're all agreed that that they have never finished the Dimension of Anger. What they are not all agreed on is that they've never done this conference to figure out whether they're in a time loop or what that might mean. [See also Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Cause and Effect" ...which was sort of a time loop but they weren't going back in time. It's very interesting, but its meta makes no sense - no one ever went looking for the Bozeman in 80 years? No one who went looking for the Bozeman also got stuck? No one noticed the passage of time outside the little area of space where the not-quite-a-time-loop was happening? Errr... sci-fi writers, don't be half-assed about your time loops, lmao! Be like Harold Ramis- ...what am I saying?? (That would be Groundhog Day, which grafted a time loop into a romcom; there are no other sci-fi elements. But it was a full-blown time loop and not half-assed like "Cause and Effect".)]
9h54m06s: Dropped from Z21c95...
I think it would be a bad idea to bypass that green area, as much as I'd rather not face it. Both his domesticated trimps, which are breeding up a new group of fighters, and the wild trimps he has decided just now not to open the traps for, stare at him and point in that direction. He shoulders a huge Shield V-3 and grabs an Mace IV-2 as well and announces, "We're doing it." Thus equipped, he marches off into the Dimension of Anger.
10h27m53s: Taking Pi4-2; recently had taken Pa4-2...
The group at the front had expired, and the snimp in DoAc95 glares at the advancing colony of trimps, which had halted only because of it. It refuses to counterattack the vulnerable colony and its human, instead snorting and huffing, waiting for the next bunch of 232 fighting trimps to come in range.
Tightniks runs along the line of traps, releasing the recently tamed trimps, singing a song that he doesn't remember the meaning of, that he doesn't remember was crafted by an ethnically Chinese guy out of an African language, and later mastered by two caucasians over the internet before they ever met in person. "Baba yetu yetu uliye, mbinguni yetu yetu amina..." because it just happened to be stuck in his head. [Because the Doylian author decided on a whim to. Christopher Tin got it into Civilization IV and at the time (2010 July), I made the best video for it on YouTube, which got subsequently blown to shreds when Peter Hollens and Malukah re-recorded the song from scratch in their own voices and instruments in 2014, pity with no English translation, the purpose of my video.]
Noticing the last batch of metal he needs coming out of the furnace, he waves the waiting grey scientist to fire up the forge [to use the term properly and not as the game does], for it was time to wrap up the forging dies for the Spetum IV, Mark 2 pike heads.
"Shijou!" the grey one cheers, setting aside a snack that looks like maybe ramen, and starts jumping up and down on the bellows handle.
It takes a while for the human to chip out the tip in the two halves of the forging die, and then polish it, and then heat it up in the forge, and then quench it, inspect it, and put it into service crafting thousands of new pike heads for the fighting trimps.
But only one second passed on the map frame clock (10h27m54s) four cells behind that snimp, in the case being brooded over by this huge, and if it's honest, rather concerned megablimp.
10h35m45: Portal PB, 45 He, 4.247 He/hr, 1891 pop, 22.7s RC with Z20/232, no turkimp.
The last head of the map's boss monster goes limp as one of the fighting trimps' mace heads bounces of it, and the huge thing settles on its tail, resting on the package that seems to be the prize of this map. And there's a popping sound, and then something mechanical.
Is that a scroll compressor? Tightniks looks at the package. The deflating monster's lifting envelope material drapes over everything underneath it. "Red, Shijou!" he snaps and points, "roll up that side of it. Keep this part from sucking down on the extractor nozzle!"
All ten of the scientists jump in, literally, pushing the gas in the bag towards the compressor. Tightniks as well, rolling up the front.
Until he kicks, and nearly trips over, a smaller package that might be the explanation for the reason why the center of the monster's defense seemed to be a little away from the big package he could see. It's in the right place, he realizes. He gets it uncovered and reads stenciled-and-sprayed block letters on it:
"DT TIME PORTAL / THIS SIDE DOWN"
Perhaps the Dimension of Anger is so named because of the rage suddenly rising up in Tightniks' throat. It isn't so much as the free-floating aggression suddenly has an answer, there is definitely a fresh batch of rage and anger as he grips the nearest Mace IV, Mark 3 with both hands and gets it over his shoulder, its target obviously this object, anger at the realization he screams at the top of his lungs, "We are stuck in a mutha FAH-king time loop!!" His swing begins. [Tightniks almost never cusses, unlike Snugniks.]

2024.05.15 00:51 MisterHoops Fun fact: There's already a fully functional Moa rig that I designed, on Rymdnisse's official Mods pack.

Back in the good ol' days around 2015, I got into contact with my superhero and the guy whose rigs trained and cultivated my fascination in Minecraft animation. Since I'm only making assets for the current rigs that need to be filled in, I thought I might point you in the right direction if you want my "official" Aether Moa Rig. I say "Official" because back in November of 2017, I abandoned the Cobalt Active alias and kinda fell off the grid after I deleted all my work. My YouTube Channel, PlanetMinecraft, Twitter, Facebook, even my Google account. I just couldn't bear to look at all that after the big bad BC took my eyesight from my right eye and nearly took my life, and after my fellow Minecraft animator "friends" left me to die.
But Rym (Rymdnisse) and I are still on good terms. Same goes for a me and my pal Pavo_Reality (or Pavocado which I think he goes by on Twitte"X"). Pavo made the Exotic Birds mod which I ended up rigging Pavo's birds from. He and I became quick friends afterwards.
You know, I'm not good at planning big projects out. But I think that's why I should stick to SUPPLYING assets instead of working with them. That's my current MO. Sure, as much as I'd like to make a big ass animation series of my character jumping around the Aether and being crazy, I think my MO should be stuck to what I'm good at, and that's supplying models and in the meantime I should use that to also hone my rigging skills too because a lot has changed in seven years. I was 19 when I abandoned the Cobalt Active alias, I'm 25 now!
Here's where you can download Rymdnisse's rig pack. Now the rig is run by people I don't really have much good speaking terms on, but they probably understand where they sit in my mind considering the controversial and horrific reality of what happened between us in November of 2017. They know what they did. I'll acknowledge they do in fact still harbor the "Minecraft_Mods_Rig" in their files. Cycles_Minecraft_Rig BSS Edit V6.5.zip (dropbox.com)
My intentions aren't to cause flame wars, just to give assets, so if they "contact" me, I'll just block them. If they want to push further, it'll be time for me to lawyer up. They have nothing I need nor nothing I want. But hey? Kudos to them for their work. I actually can admire the fact they kept up the original tradition of making these rigs free-to-use and open-source. But that's where the similarities end. Not to mention, they chose to keep the Aether rigs intact as opposed to deleting them out of spite. I can admit that while I was cooling down after my battle with brain cancer I wouldn't have been too accepting, but it's great to see the assets are still there. It doesn't seem like much has happened in a while though, so either they all disembarked and left or they're just downsized nowadays. Still, their work is solid.
Sorry for my rambling. But yep. The work's in there if you wanna have a go at it. MinecraftAnimationSWW is my "comeback", in a light sense. No more lying to myself, just focus on what I'm good at and that's supplying assets and learning while I finish my book. It IS in my best intentions to bridge the gap though. You want the Moa Rig? THERE it is, on the Boxscape Studios website. You're welcome, case closed.

2 Why hasn't my Pokemon evolved? It's at Level [X]!
Evolution requires an evolution item available in the Training Area (Evolution Material Area). Upon earning the Evolution Materials, you need to go to the Sync Pair Stories to trigger the Evolution Story.
3. Should I save to do 11 multi-scouts instead of single scouts?
You can now get x11 units instead of 10, so yes, but we strongly recommend you to save gems for Poké Fair or Master Fair banners (which has a higher rate for 5★ characters).
4. How many gems are required to receive a Sync Pair of my choice?
36.600 non-paid gems (or 36.300 gems + 100 paid gems for a daily single pull), which is the equivalent of 400 scout points. Scout points do not carry over between banners.
5. What does [X]/5, [Y]/20, etc mean?
When you obtain a Sync Pair, they're at 1/5 Sync Move level. Rolling a dupe of that Sync Pair, or using a Move Candy will increase it by 1 level. 3/5 is the minimum for most sync pairs to complete their full Sync Grid, but some Poké Fairs have grid expansions that require their Sync Move to be completely maxed out at 5/5 for their full Sync Grid.
At the same time, Sync Pairs are at 0/20 Potential when they're just obtained. Giving Sync Pairs Powerups will raise their Potential and stats. When a Sync Pair is given 20 powerups, their star level will be increased. Getting a unit to 5★ 20/20 is mandatory for it to further upgrade to 6★ EX (if it has one).
6. How do I Unlock The Level cap of my units?
Training Area (Cap Unlock Area), (Cap Unlock Area 2), Exchange in the shop, Events.
7. Where do I get the manuals to level up my sync pairs?
Training Area (Level up Area), Exchange in the shop, Events, random drops in Trainer Lodge.
8. How do I get Sync orbs?
Training Area (Sync orb Area), Exchange in the shop, Events, Champion Stadium Master Mode (6K & 7.5K), random drops in Trainer Lodge.
9. What are Theme Skill and how do I get items to power them up?
Theme Skill is a new ability that raises the stats of your Sync Pairs if any of them has a common position, type, region, trainer group, or other features with another pair (or pairs) in the same team. Skill Spheres, which can be obtained in Theme Skill area and Champion Stadium Master Mode, are required to upgrade them.
10. What Lucky Skill should I roll for [X]? How do I get Lucky Cookies and Scrolls to unlock a Sync Pair's Lucky Skill?
Refer to Sync Grid Builds & Lucky Skills (by u/MomoSpark) for more details.
In general, the choices of Lucky Skills follow the roles of Sync Pairs:
There are exceptions to some Sync Pairs. For example,
Lucky Cookies and Lucky Scrolls can all be obtained in Battle Villa (Single Player & Co-op), Blissful Bonanza, and Legendary Gauntlet. Legendary Gauntlet can provide unlimited 3★ Lucky Cookies as well as Deluxe Cookies exclusive to that mode after each successful stage clear, and their drop chance increases with longer win streaks.
11. What are the Sync Move effects of 6★ EX Sync Pairs of different roles? Who should I promote to 6★ EX first?
Each role gives different effects to Sync Moves when upgraded to 6★ EX.
Support is usually prioritized for promotion to 6★ EX because its EX effect effectively doubles the damage of all allied sync pairs after first sync and is more widely applicable across most game modes, and the increased stats from raising the support's Potential greatly enhances its bulk to tank stages.
For Strike, if its kit has a very high DPS (e.g. SS Red & Charizard, Diantha & Gardevoir, etc.), or includes a powerful Sync multiplier (e.g. Steven & Metagross's Haymaker, Barry & Empoleon's Inertia, etc.), you are highly recommended to upgrade it to 6★ EX to apply the damage to all opponents. This applies to Tech as well, but only if the unit is a Sync nuker (e.g. Marnie & Morpeko, May & Swampert, etc.).
Since Field applies a field effect that can boost its own damage and potentially that of its allies as well, upgrading it to 6★ EX is also recommended. Sprint enables faster sync buffs and usually come with innate Sync Move multipliers like Tech, but its EX effect does not improve damage as directly as the other roles.
Promoting Support-type units to 6★ EX is not a must, but it's always an added bonus, especially if their Sync Move can provide any additional effects via passive or grid skills.
Always remember to upgrade Rosa to 6★ EX because the materials are obtainable for free.
12. Which Sync Pair should I use my candy on?
Refer to Which Sync Pair Should You Give Your Candy To? (Infographic) (by u/MuddyDummy) for more details.
Always save your candies unless the Sync Pair is exclusive to Seasonals, Poké Fairs or Master Fairs. Most Sync Pairs are usable at 1/5. You can always "accidentally" pull the unit you've been looking for from the normal pool, but you never know when limited Sync Pairs will rerun again. This may not apply to Sync Pairs that are your favorite.

Common Technical Questions/Errors

Below lists all common technical errors you may encounter during the game, as well as how you can fix it. You are strongly encouraged to contact DeNA with any problems at [support@pokemonmasters-game.com](mailto:support@pokemonmasters-game.com) if any of these advice do not help.

  2. Others
If the game is unavailable in your country or shows as not available for your device, you can download the APK directly from APKPure or QooApp.
You can also use VPN to download it from the application store, but it requires longer downloading time compared to the above recommended methods.

Reroll Guide

Reroll means that you make a new account and look at what you got from your scout. If you don't like your first few multi-pulls, you delete the account and create a new one again and so on until you are satisfied.

Why reroll?

How to Reroll?
If you're an existing player, delete your local data or cache first. Otherwise, do not link your account to Nintendo. Doing so will bind your Pokémon Masters account to your Nintendo profile permanently and can no longer be removed.

2024.05.05 16:53 LaughingTarget Intragalactic Pet and Garden Show Part 2

Pt. 1 Here
After five years, Milek thought she’d be used to this by now. Frozen stiff from fear, she watched the massive brown avian soar through the rafters in the arena.

After Arthur brought his King Charles Spaniel, Milek thought she had seen the worst the Human home world, a place called Earth, had to offer. The next year, his wife, Emily, showed up with something even more horrifying.

When that gigantic beast, easily five times larger than the previous one, lumbered into the arena, it caused a wave of fear so intense that a few species even broke out of their freeze instinct and ran. Ran! That’s the worst thing to do with a predator.

Yet the shaggy grey animal was just as well behaved as the one Arthur brought along. Of course, that is well behaved by Human standards. When Emily released a robotic version of a local animal called a deer, the arena was fascinated. Until the massive beast suddenly turn into the vicious predator everyone feared it was.

With a simple command from Emily, the gigantic predator immediately began chasing down the robotic deer. The bulky beast herded and maneuvered the robot until it took it down with a nip to the legs. Emily then gave a second command and the large animal immediately ceased the attack and reverted back to its, oddly, unassuming demeanor.

This was the first time that Milek got a good idea of how dominant the Humans were on their world. Screwing up her courage, she and Fessin went to introduce themselves just like they had with her husband the year prior.

She proved just as friendly, and oddly apologetic, as Arthur. This time, Milek and Fessin were invited to interact with the dog. Milek had a powerful conflict between curiosity and survival brewing at the time. Curiosity won out, barely, and she agreed to meet the predator.

The dog, the Irish Wolfhound, proved friendly and gentle. The animal had an unusually calm demeanor around potential prey. Yet she knew from the display that aggression could be triggered at any time. Emily explained that they have nothing to worry about, so long as they don’t threaten the dog’s family. Not that Emily had to worry about that in the galactic community.

That was also a controversial year. Like the year before, the judges decided to disregard the performance and awarded Fessin the first prize while Milek took second. Fessin was so outraged by the bias that he marched off the podium, dragged Emily over and handed the winning ribbon to her himself.

It would have also been the first year that a single entrant won both first AND second place with the same animal since Milek was ready to do the same. When the two most popular entrants in the IPGS rebelled, the judges listened and decided that a “technical error” in the voting software caused a mixup.

Still, even after learning that Earth’s predators could be impressive allies, Milek couldn’t shake millions of years of evolutionary instinct.

The avian, introduced by the trainer as a Golden Eagle, peered down over the crowd with eyes that looked like they could see for eternity. The trainer had set up a field of holographic grasses on the floor and let loose a robotic animal referred to as a hare.

The bird circled above, scanning the simulated grass below. Then a subtle shift in the grass gave away the presence of the robotic hare and the bird went into action.

Pulling in its wings, it dove down, picking up speed before flying low to the ground. The hare ran from the bird. Flapping to keep up its speed, the eagle skimmed the tips of the holographic grass as it rapidly closed the distance.

Then it extended its long black talons protruding from the ends of its bright yellow reptilian feet, stabbing them into the hare. The hare quickly ceased movement and the eagle ripped into the robot with a long, sharp beak, puncturing into the compartment that held the animal’s reward.

After consuming the meat, the bird flapped up into the air with a mighty pump of its wings before circling back toward the Human. The bird then landed on the Human’s outstretched arm, perching on a thick protective glove.

The Human gave a small bow, which the bird mimicked with outstretched wings. The Human was wearing an unusual garb made out of animal furs and skins. This was also disturbing to Milek, yet she held her opinion since it was the traditional cultural garb of a place on Earth called Mongolia, where training of these large predators dated back generations.

Milek ended up taking second this year behind the Human with Fessin in the third position. It was eight years since neither of them ended up on the top of the winner’s podium. Still, Milek wasn’t upset. The Humans bringing in fresh competition improved her game. Even though she placed second, she felt that her presentation was the best it has ever been.

The golden eagle deserved the win. Humanity had displayed a positively gargantuan avian predator for everyone to see. Milek later learned that, of course, it didn’t even rank in the top ten largest avian predators on Earth. The Humans have a penchant for surprises.

After the completion of the ceremony, Milek went to Fessin. “Hey, want to go check out the Garden displays? It’s been a while since we browsed it and I hear a Human finally opened a booth this year.”

“That sounds good,” Fessin replied. “Maybe their plants are just as unbelievable as their animals.”

Both shared a laugh at that. Surely, plant life couldn’t be hostile and deadly. It was food.

The pair moved through an airlock that led to a different part of the competition station.

Humans joining the IPGS caused a large number of rapid changes.

The biggest change was the venue was moved from rotating planet side arenas to a space station that the IPGS purchased second-hand from a failed concert promoter. They would tow it to the same planets and operate the show in orbit as opposed to on the ground.

The reason for this was two-fold. First, the number of spectators had quadrupled since the Irish Wolfhound showing. People wanted to get a better understanding of the fauna of Earth yet none of the species could survive the crushing gravity of the planet. The IPGS was the perfect place to observe the native wildlife of a planet that was otherwise impossible to visit. The problem was, the arenas the IPGS had on contract weren’t large enough for such crowds and it caused issues with ticket scalping.

Second was also related to the gravity. Because of the high gravity, many of the animals struggled to function properly in normal gravity environments. The two human entrants in the third year reported their animals were distressed when trying to move in the low gravity and it undermined the performance. One had brought along an animal called a horse and the gravity was interfering with the animal so badly that the human withdrew before the individual competition.

With a station, both problems were addressed. The station was able to handle the far larger crowds and it had it could dynamically alter the gravity of the competition floor. Of course, the gravity manipulator had to be special ordered since no one had designed one to generate that kind of force.

Without the proper gravity, the golden eagle wouldn’t have been able to display its terrifying hunting prowess.

A few other changes were made as well. A big one was the use of robotic animals. While Emily introduced the robotic deer, there weren’t any rules on the subject until the other Human in the third year created the new rule.

Milek thought that Human brought along a relatively normal animal to display. It was a creature called a rat. It was a small, dark grey-haired animal with a long, hairless tail. The Human also had carted out a large glass container behind it filled with rocks and artificial plants.

The crowd was intrigued by what the rat would do. The Human dropped it into the tank and all the rat did was wander around. Everyone found it disappointing.

That is until it caused the Mass Fainting. What Milek had initially thought was a large vine suddenly snapped out. The vine opened a mouth and began wrapping around the rat. The rat squealed loudly before it went silent. The vine tightened more and more as the rat struggled in silence before finally expiring.

Then the vine twisted around and consumed the rat by swallowing it whole. It turns out that it wasn’t a vine but a long animal the Humans referred to as a snake. In particular, a ball python.

Which, of course, is also not the largest of that particular class of animal on Earth, either.

The IPGS promptly banned harming live animals even before the judges had time to wake up.

The fourth year also had a new, Human derived rule. That year, a few entrants had shown up. By this point, the IPGS and its regulars had become somewhat used to the bizarre predators that the Humans were prone to entering.

That year, three Humans had arrived. One brought the most positively normal animal yet, a colorful avian called a parrot. It wasn’t, to Milek’s relief, a secret predator that would suck out blood from small cuts in the night. She couldn’t imagine such an animal ever existing, though she was sure some Human would bring one along at some point. No, the parrot only did something else bizarre - talking.

The second brought along a tiny predator known as a house cat. This was the first time Milek ever saw a predator that she wasn’t utterly terrified by upon first glance. It was, dare she say, cute. She loved the way it let out a low, comforting rumble. At least it was until the Human dangled a simulated mouse in front of it and a set of sharp claws deployed. The only solace was the fact the predator was so small it wouldn't be lethal to the galactic races.

It was the third Human that caused the rule change. And it was the Humans who suggested it to restrict entry to a list of animals that had to be excluded for safety. It was a long list and, oddly, even included herbivores like an animal called a hippopotamus. Milek also learned in that moment that if the Humans are concerned about something, listen.

The third Human brought along a much larger animal that Milek initially confused as a bigger house cat. The cat had a coat patterned with orange and black stripes with a few white accents along the face and underbelly. It was pulled along by a rope, like Arthur and Emily had done with their dogs, by a man with a weird blue coat in the same stripe pattern as the animal and had a hairstyle the archives called a “mullet”.

The other two Humans immediately alerted and informed the IPGS that the third Human, along with his animal, which they called a tiger, should be removed from the premises at once. Apparently, even Earth had predators the Humans couldn’t tame. The immense beast was one of them and it had a high probability of causing damage.

The Human with the tiger was eventually ejected, not without a significant amount of argument from the Human claiming he was some sort of tiger royalty.

After that was dealt with, Milek also got her first dose of unusual Human humor. When the tiger and its owner finally left, the Human with the parrot commented that tigers weren’t from some place called Africa. The other replied that it must be two humans in a suit. The two shared a laugh. Then the Human with the cat accused the human with the parrot that his parrot was deceased. Milek was confused why this was funny because the parrot was very clearly living.

Milek and Fessin stepped through the second airlock into a large atrium. Warm and humid, Milek flexed her outer chitin and enjoyed the warmth. It reminded her of her home world.

Looking on the tablet, Milek found the booth the Human had set up. “Looks like it’s at the other end of the venue.”

“I could use the exercise,” Fessin said. “Oh, by the way, I got a message from Arthur. He says if the Human offers up something called a pepper, turn it down. Apparently they think its funny when a new species tries one. Supposedly they cause significant distress both going in and coming out.”

“And the Humans eat this stuff?” Milek said, aghast.

Fessin snorted at the absurdity of it. “All the time. Voluntarily.”

Milek shook her head as she and Fessin browsed the garden show. The Garden hall was far bigger than the Pet Show arena. While most of the spectators came for the Pet Show, they stayed for the food.

Milek looked at the rows upon rows of different stations displaying the local plant life from across the galaxy. Her mouth watered as her eyes scanned over tasty looking vines or sumptuous purple flowers. Her 360 degree vision was nearly overloaded by the glorious bounty arrayed in the massive space.

Slapping her head, she remembered her mission. She was going to save her credits, and appetite, to get her first taste of Earth’s offerings. Luckily, the Humans were omnivores, so they enjoyed plants just as much as a good herbivore did.

Milek and Fessin both struggled as they moved through the Garden Show. Each new booth tempted them to try their food. Tubers, berries and nuts galore.

Then there was a strange break in the crowd. Looking ahead, Milek saw the Human’s booth. It was empty.

Moving closer, she saw a bored looking Human sitting on a metal folding chair. The small Human, a woman, was dressed in a brown robe with an embroidered garment covering her shoulders in the same color. Perched upon her head was a brown hat which had a round brim and had a cone jutting out of the top. The hat looked like it was one size too small for her head yet still managed to perch on the top.

Facing her tablet at the woman, Milek tried to get an idea of what the apparel was called. Nothing returned.
Curiously, the pair approached. Each table held, like many others, an array of amazingly appetizing plants. Vines, purple flowers, red flowers and more. There was also a section with strange plants that looked like water pitchers and one that had the weird appearance of having teeth. Milek noticed that the tables had little signs all over them. “For Display Only. Not for Consumption.”

The Human looked up and smiled, briefly flashing teeth before her mouth closed. “Welcome to Sprout’s Sprouts!”

Milek had a number of questions bouncing around in her mind. The first one popped out. “Can you tell me what your garment is called? I’m not getting anything from the database.”

The woman looked down at herself. “Oh? This thing? I can understand. It’s a pop culture reference I’m a fan of. Those haven’t been loaded up to the galactic network. It’s a big file. This is a robe and hat from a book series about a magical school I enjoy. The character a herbology teacher, which inspired me into becoming a horticulturalist.”

“Fiction is an important part of development,” Milek agreed. “So, why do you have all these signs everywhere?”

The Human gave a sheepish look. “I misunderstood what a Garden Show was. I thought it was to show off plants. I didn’t think it would be a food court. I can’t sell any of those because you may mistakenly eat it.”

Fessin cocked his head and looked over the plants on display. He laid his eyes on a sumptuous looking red one. “Do they just grow too slow to sell? What’s wrong with this one? It looks flavorful.”

“That one? It’s a rose. They’re not particularly difficult to grow. The hips can be consumed. However, take a closer look at that one,” the woman said.

Fessin leaned in and gasped. “The thing has teeth on it!”

Milek leaned in close to see what Fessin was talking about it. Sure enough, up and down the stem was a series of little sharp teeth sticking out of it.

“Those are called thorns,” the woman explained. “Unless you carefully cut those off, you can shred your insides. They also aren’t particularly nutritious.”

Milek blanched. That was insidious. Why would a plant want to hurt an animal? Presenting segments to eat was an important part of the reproductive cycle.

Fessin pointed at a different red flower. “And this one?”

“That’s a poinsettia. They’re toxic and, while not lethal, cause gastrointestinal distress,” the woman explained.

“And this one?” Milek asked, pointing at a plant with green leaves growing black colored berries.

“Balladona, that one is toxic enough to kill you.”

Milek was happy that the other species couldn’t visit Earth. If they did, most of them would be deceased the moment they passed a tantalizing bush outside the spaceport.

“So you didn’t bring anything to eat?” Fessin asked bluntly.

“Oh, I did,” the woman replied.

Milek smiled. “Can we take a look?”

“Sure. Unfortunately, I don’t have much, security wouldn’t let me bring most of it on the station,” the woman said as she pulled a wood box out from under one of the tables.

Milek knew she would regret asking, but she did anyway. “Why couldn’t you bring in the food?”

“So, apparently a lot of our food contains harmful substances. In sufficient quantity, they’re harmful to us, but it’s present in such low quantities, to us anyway, that it’s not a big deal.”

The woman started arranging a number of different items on the table. There was a flat green vegetable with little lumps under the surface, a small box of red berries and another small box with blue colored berries.

The woman then took out a tablet and touched it a few times. The picture of a red fruit came on the screen. “This, for instance, is an apple. It’s a common fruit we enjoy throughout the day. The problem is the seeds contain a substance called arsenic. Humans would have to crush up a large handful of the seeds to have an effect, so we can safely eat the whole thing, including the core, even though that’s not common. It is, however, lethal to you guys out here. It’s also present in citrus fruit, pears and grapes.”

She swiped her finger on the screen and a new picture popped up, this time of a yellow curved tube. “This is a banana. They contain potassium, which is important to the Human nervous system. They’re also mildly radioactive.”

The woman swiped the screen again. A variety of nuts came up. Milek’s mouth watered. She loved nuts. “These are various nuts. Almonds contain cyanide, which is a potent lethal compound. It’s in small enough quantities that the cultivated ones are safe, though we have to be careful with the wild ones. Even so much as 10 can kill a child.”

Milek sighed in disappointment that these nuts couldn’t be consumed. Which only got worse when the woman kept talking. “Other kinds of nuts can cause major anaphylactic shock episodes, including in a small subset of the Human population. They usually have to be careful and read warnings that something may contain nuts.”

Another picture of a different nut came up, this time with a two-segment shell. “This is called a peanut, though the name is deceptive since it’s a different class of plant called a legume. It can also be lethal, so I left them behind.”

“I think I heard enough,” Milek said, sad that Earth produced such impressive looking vegetables, fruit and nuts that couldn’t be consumed. “What about these?”

The woman pointed to the items in turn. “The green ones are snow peas. The red ones are raspberries. The blue ones are, creatively, blueberries. They have their own little quirks, though your security didn’t trigger them as toxic.”

Milek and Fessin looked at each other. Even with little quirks that passed security, they wondered if they could risk trying the fare.

The woman recognized the look. “Hey, I understand your hesitation after that big disclosure. Just because the security guys cleared it doesn’t make you feel comfortable.”

Fessin sighed. “You know what? I think I’ll give it a try. It would be rude not to. Maybe the red one.”

“First bite’s free,” the woman said, holding the box up.

Fessin gingerly gripped one of the red berries in his upper left arm and studied it. Milek looked down at the berry that had multiple small bulbous spheres attached in a rough cone shape with a hollow center. Taking a deep breath, Fessin popped it into his mouth.

His expression then lit up. “Wow! This is amazing! The sweetness exploded out of the fruit and is dancing on my tongue.”

Intrigued, Milek gestured at the green one. The woman handed it up.

Biting in, the plant snapped and sent back an unusual sensation. She found the crunchy exterior and soft interior balls a wonderful combination.

“Snow peas,” the woman explained. “There’s another version called a snap pea that makes a more satisfying pop, though I didn’t bring any of those along.”

The third fruit, the blueberry, was just as incredible. Milek ended up buying a box of the snap peas while Fessin took a box of raspberries.

As they chewed their treats, Milek pointed to a different table, “What are those?”

The woman turned and looked. “Ah, those are my carnivorous plants.”

Milek and Fessin both stopped mid-chew. Did they just hear the Human correctly? Carnivorous plants.

“I think the translator may be acting up,” Fessin replied. “Did you mean carnival plants?”

“No, carnivorous is right. These plants eat other things,” the woman explained, pride in her voice.

Milek and Fessin both took a big step away from the table. They were flabbergasted this Human casually sat by plants that could reach out and eat her.

The woman chuckled. “No, not like that. The biggest one out there can eat a rat and none of them are harmful to larger organisms. They mostly consume smaller insects. Here, have a look.”

The woman pulled out a different box and extracted a small wriggling worm thing. Milek looked at it with disgust. They reminded her of her people’s larval stage, though it was significantly smaller. “Didn’t the IPGS ban live demonstrations?”

The woman paused and looked at the worm. “Oh, sorry. Yea, I had to get an exception. These things are such low order lifeforms that we’re not even sure they feel pain. Insects on our world are barely above simple machines. The IPGS gave me an exception for this.”

That didn’t make Milek feel much better. It was like watching the Human feed her kids to a plant, which was entirely the opposite of what nature intended. Still, it wasn’t her place to question how the biology of another world functioned and watched.

The woman first took a small worm and placed it into the open folds of the plant with teeth. It contacted tiny hairs inside and the outer walls snapped shut, trapping the worm inside. “This is a venus flytrap. They activate when two of the small hairs inside their open mouths are triggered within a close timeframe. When closed, they secrete digestive enzymes that consume the trapped insect. They’re difficult to grow and require a proper soil acidity to thrive.”

She extracted a second worm, making Milek feel slightly nauseous. The Human then went over to a plant with long stalks that had a series of red hairs sticking out of it. At the end of the red hairs were small clear balls. The woman put the worm in one of the red hairs and released it, leaving it stuck to the plant. The plant then folded in on itself, trapping the worm in a coil. “This is commonly called a sundew. The plant sticks to its prey and wraps it up before digesting it and absorbing the nutrients through its wall.”

The final victim went into the plant shaped like a water jug. The worm fell in and the top of the jug closed, trapping it within. “This is creatively called a pitcher plant. Prey is attracted by a sweet smell and then falls into the interior.”

Fessin put on a forced smile. “That’s quite interesting. Earth has a rather unique ecosystem. Unfortunately, we have a few other things to take care of.”

After buying a few extra boxes of the berries, just to ensure they didn’t leave on a bad foot, the pair left.

Taking a quick peek back, Fessin blanched. “You know, I’m glad Earth’s gravity is too high to visit.”

“You have that right,” Milek replied. “Viewing the plants and animals in the safety of the IPGS is about as much as I can stand.”

As they went to find some more palatable food stands, Milek gave one last thought to the Humans. It was something that they could not only survive, but thrive, on a planet where they consumed toxic plants and lived next to dangerous predators. She counted herself lucky that they were friendly. She couldn’t imagine what they’d be like if they decided to be hostile.

2024.05.02 21:26 Not-explaining eFootball wishlist to Konami v2.0 (33 wishes)

eFootball wishlist to Konami v2.0 (33 wishes)
eFootball could be fantastic if Konami would listen to ideas, criticism and improve.
The amount of goalpost hits and missed open goals is just silly currently, until the last minutes of each match. Please reduce it, or even remove it from Co-op and other game modes where skill should be rewarded. I'd rather get smashed 15-0 and learn from a good player. Than having to play another game with added input lag and your players turn, react with 0,5sec delay / 1 team loses every header / 4 shots in goalpost / own goals / missed open goals from 2-3m consequently, instead you have to run the ball into goal!!! / hide n seek players / every ball intercepted / misdirected passes / every pass straight to other team / passes goes through "invisible" player / player freezing or even running wrong direction vs your stick / ball glued to opposite player / every attempt clearing the ball goes short distance straight to other team, even goalie high punt / all stunning shots 3m over the goal before 85min + all the other crap that's in there. This gameplay on rails is so unrewarding. If I manage to do something skillfull the AI assistance just kills the opportunity with any means. When the AI assistance takes a break, I get an easy goal with no effort from a random through pass + tap in. Many times I can't tell if I am playing well or the game has decided I should win/loose, it kills the joy for me and it's just boring.
Gameplay is getting boring with the lack of variety.
(Edit below)
  1. Add 2nd local player to co-op events. Why can't 2 players join the co-op events together from one Playstation? Me and the kids would play this a lot if possible.
All in all it should result in a more enjoyable experience for both ballers, casuals, squad-builders, card-collectors and those who just want local couch co-op or PvP with their Dream team. More people having fun and spending time in the game usually results in praise, recommendations and growing user count = more coins spent. Konami keeps earning and customer base is happy. Everyone wins.
/ Cheers and thanks for reading

2024.05.01 06:40 mantichoral I was a Hearthstone addict

I was a Hearthstone addict. I'm not now.
In reflection, I offer some notes on my tenure with Hearthstone.
I'm mid-50s now, educated (postdoc), professional, fairly demanding job, fairly demanding long-term partner. Never really evidenced any real overt addiction in my life, other than being terminally online back in the 90s when being online was quite tricky, to usenet and to reaching Farmville level 80 back in the day, and spending a fortune on coffee. (it's decaf Nespresso these days.) Alcohol and drugs were never for me; I don't understand the attraction, dislike the taste.
I began playing Hearthstone just after its release, using an iPad 2. The Hearthstone client outgrew that, and the animations would bring the tablet to a halt. I eventually moved to an iPad 4, where the same thing happened again. And as the years passed I bought an iPad Air 3. I'd play on an iPhone on commute, but that was not that enjoyable an experience; the iPhone 5s screen is cramped. As my eyesight slowly deteriorated to need reading glasses, the screen became far too small. The contrast between card text and background could be higher, and a font could be chosen that is more legible. The game doesn't do much for accessibility. (Red numbers on a red blooddrop? Seriously?)
I liked Hearthstone as a tactile card game; playing it with a mouse just wasn't the same, and even touch-screen Windows just didn't feel right. So I never played with helper apps, I never played on a desktop PC, and I often played casually, silently, on the iPad, while doing other things like watching tv or reading, which limited my engagement. I was always a free-to-play player, I never paid, but oh, how I started to grind those daily and weekly quests.
I made Hearthstone friends just for challenge-a-friend quests. I once played an actual real-life friend on a different server new to me (and lost, because I had set up the account specially to play. "You need more cards" my friend said earnestly, not realising how rich in cards I was on my home server) . It dawned on me that there were three public servers around the world (excluding China, which had its own). And I could grind for gold and for card packs by doing quests on all of them. And that meant three Tavern brawl packs a week, too. Notifications were always off -- it's just a game demanding my attention, not a person -- but I knew what times to log in to get new tasks and even how it adjusted when I flew into different timezones on vacation. I did the daily grind for gold. On three servers. I could afford all the adventures, and all the expansion packs. "Tavern Brawl Thursday" was a thing, and my partner's eyes would roll, just as they did when I played on vacation. The fifteenth of each month and having to play nine games with Noz was a chore. Turns were rarely as brief as fifteen seconds even then.
I played all hero archetypes across all three servers, the better to grind. Achieving Level 60 was always meaningless. The heroes seem far less different from one another, these days, as new expansions scatter cards between them. I have no favorites, though Priest and Warlock don't seem as much fun or to my taste as, say, Druid or Rogue. Demon Warrior is okay, but the newer Death Knight seems a little gimmicky. I used netdecks, because actually playing is more fun for me than designing a deck to play, and I'd have the cards to play a lot of the decks. I really enjoyed playing Pirate Warrior and, er, Treant Infinite Growth Druid or whatever it was called, until new expansions meant that those decks were no longer useful. My deck space was always full with decks and variants I'd tried, and I always wanted more deck slots.
But Hearthstone was expanded beyond the classic game I enjoyed, and as it was diluted, that worked to dilute my interest. Arena was always a gold money pit, and not well thought out, even for someone who likes deck design; too random. Eventually Duels did that idea far better, with its choice of deck growth pathways. The solo adventures were enjoyable; on one server I bought single episodes with gold as anchors, and came back to buy the rest with the gold I'd earned after the adventures went cash-purchase-only. I understood the commercial need for Standard and Wild, since selling new cards that can be played enjoyably by new players is the goal, but the cards are not curated well in Standard thanks to introducing new cards all the time and rebalancing. Battlegrounds wasn't much fun, and was too time-consuming and unrewarding, even once I finally learned its mechanisms. Mercenaries was always boring.
And once the shop was revamped -- again -- indicating where engineers and designers were spending most of their time, and new types of currency that I never earned were introduced, Hearthstone turned into a much more obvious cash grab for whales, just like Farmville -- and with a raft of dialog boxes to wade through every time I opened it, just like Farmville. If everything is a special event, then nothing is a special event.
I don't care for gold cards and the animations that, if they wanted, could have been offered across all cards -- artificial upgrade scarcity, a waste of disk space -- or for the later platinum or whatever special cards they're doing now. That's just frippery and chrome. Why pay for it? Why repeatedly download content that you can't use?
A few dubious achievements, of sorts: I never made Legend -- playing across three servers diminished my progress on each, and I was just grinding, for the most part -- but did reach D2 a couple of times. I once got more than 100 wins in a Tavern Brawl (one of those only-three-cards-duplicated things) and didn't get anything for it. Some of my posts musing about the game were deleted from Blizzard's Hearthstone forums. Don't rock the boat, or bite the hand that feeds your addiction.
Opening packs is just annoying; making a fetish out of artificial scarcity is, in the end, offputting. And I can no longer be bothered to learn about the new functionality whose keywords I now struggle to read on the cards. Every event now has a mechanism tied to it, and it's been downhill since Inspire. Games take too long to play, and are often decided by my opponent playing some high-power card I'm unfamiliar with.
I can't remember the names of most cards; I played by artwork recognition, particularly once I stopped being able to read the names easily. The names are just not worth the effort, though Annoy-O-Bot sticks in my memory. The lore behind the cards? that's not even a game mechanic, man.
I have all the white-jewel cards, most of the blues, and a good scattering of the other two. I never went for mass card disenchants to buy rare cards; the value wasn't there. I saved dust, and curated my cards, disenchanting the gold cards that I was awarded, endlessly. Once the red tags remained, that was the first sign I cared less.
I still have over 10,000 gold on each server, so I can easily buy a few more expansion packs I'll never really use. But these days I only log in on Thursdays, to glance at the tavern brawl. I might play it if it's novel, but most times I've seen it before, and don't.
But constantly downloading a new client -- gigabytes of data, which is mostly animations -- jars with me, particularly when it gets updated a couple of days after a big revision and I have to do it all over again. Maybe Battlegrounds should be an optional download, too, to decrease app size, but it seems to be the main earner at this point.
I really liked Warcraft III as well, but Blizzard eventually ruined that introduction to their world, with Reforged. A menu system written in Electron that takes more CPU than the game it prevented access to? Ten minutes to draw the start menu on a little Asus netbook that is far more than capable of playing the original 2002 Warcraft III game that the menu is preventing access to? Getting to the fun moments became too hard. So I had to give up on Warcraft III, just as I've now given up on Hearthstone.
In retrospect, I could have sent less time gaming, and more time enjoying life. There are many other tales of addiction, even to Hearthstone, that are far more serious than my minor decade-long peccadillo. There's more to life than gaming, but it's true that Hearthstone is a game that I did once enjoy.
I think, in the end, I'm thankful that Blizzard ruined Hearthstone; it has made it easier to leave.

2024.05.01 01:00 Junepero Story’s of panem 112 pre games

Good morning, tributes, and welcome back to Stories of Panem! As usual, I want to extend my thanks to the splendid Christian Blanco, original writer of Tales of the Hunger Games, and Lauren from Panem Reborn, whose tales inspire us. This week's tale is quite the info dump, so I hope y'all enjoy it and find out who emerged victorious. And since I don't have much else to say, let's dive in!
**Game 112 (148) Tributes**
After the success of last year's games, Amanda Mils, last year's victor, made the long journey from district to district, growing quite tired as she landed in District 2. Mayor Gladstone gave his usual eerie, joyful welcome, leading Amanda to scowl slightly to herself, with Camilia Ravenstil joking with Silca Monty that one day the "Mayor cow" would be removed from office. Throughout the tour, Amanda appeared to be sleeping, leading her mother to awaken her once they arrived at the stage. After the merry youths settled down and Mayor Gladstone finished his usual mayoral speech, Amanda asked for volunteers.
Twenty-six young men and seventeen young ladies raised their hands and were brought to a salt-like and desert arena as Amanda and her entourage watched through the viewing square via a large TV. This year, in a special twist, the guys' display was shown first. Seventeen-year-old Brociade Riggs Verland made himself out to be less of a threat by acting weak. However, when he was attacked by other tributes, he delivered a spectacular groin kick, causing most of his attackers to whimper in pain. His remaining opponent, Maverick, barrel-rolled onto him, attempting to rip his remaining bracelet from his neck before Brociade apparently had an idea cross his mind and fell backward as Maverick tried to realize hi...
As Brociade was declared to be the male tribute for District 2, he grinned quietly to himself. And as his volunteer game was being analyzed in the Capital, both Camilia and Silca seemed to appreciate his less chaotic demeanor. Probably due to the fact that in the last 5 games, a Dalton had won the volunteer games. As Brociade was brought back up to the reaping square, he was bathed and styled up before returning to the stage, shaking Amanda’s hand, which many of the Capital ladies gawked over Brociade’s stylish light brown flow-style hair and sapphire eyes, along with his tall and stoic demeanor. Amanda smiled back at Brociade in a sarcastic smile before he sat down and joined her in watching the ladies' volunteer games.
The ladies' games took place 15 minutes later, with these games taking a record time frame of 6 minutes. Eighteen-year-old Qwendlon Prashina teamed up with her friend, 17-year-old Artemsia Haywill. These two young ladies were classmates in the Heath academy, which was run by Jade Heath, victor of the 106th Hunger Games, and Herminia Edwards, formerly Gold victor of the 109th games. These two proceeded to dominate the arena. However, when it was just Qwendlon and Artemsia remaining, Qwendlon got the upper hand in the fight, only knocking her unconscious in the fight and ripping off her final bracelet. As Qwendlon was crowned as the female tribute for District 2, she gave a guilty smirk as her long blonde hair was suddenly flown up into a messy frizz, leading most of the Capital citizens to laugh as she was then flown back to the reaping square. After Qwendlon was bathed and styled up, Qwendlon and Brociade were announced as the tributes of District 2, and immense applause followed. Amanda whispered "Good luck" into Brociade’s ear, causing him to smirk and nod.
During their family visits, Qwendlon's mother sharply reminded her to be on her best behavior and to "Not be such a spaz". Qwendlon nodded good-naturedly before she styled her hair further, greatly confusing her mother. As Peacekeepers came in to take her to the train, she shockingly slapped their hands away and told them to "Buzz off" and that she did not need an "escort", causing her mother to tell her off as if she was a "Spoiled little girl". However, Mrs. Prashina’s words were not heard as Qwendlon waited patiently for Brociade.
As for Brociade, he was visited by his mother, father, and younger sister, congratulating him on making it to the games. However, his little sister Diana had asked him if he really wanted to go into the games. Brociade shrugged before nodding contently, still, before allowing his father to straighten his light gold suit out. He gave them all one big hug before he and Qwendlon were brought on the train to the Capital.
Once the pair got onto the train, Avoxes later reported a large brawl formed against the pair, with Qwendlon calling Brociade every swear word in the book and Silca saying that she hoped Qwendlon’s mother "Didn't hear what words she was saying". However, as Qwendlon grew more violent, they heard one of their mentors' voices say, "Scratching the one person that could maybe be your one way to win in the games isn't smart, especially for a Career."
Herminia Edward grinned before saying she was the "boy's mentor" and that she would be able to meet "Hers in the Capital". Qwendlon annoyingly walked to her own carriage before Herminia grinned at Brociade, saying, "Oh my god, your hair, it's like so stunning, get it king." Brociade chuckled before embracing Herminia as the pair had a good ol' catch up. After a brief dinner, Herminia displayed the past reapings that had happened so far in the districts.
When Anchor and Marina, both from 4, were reaped, Brociade grinned before asking Herminia if it would be "6-pack or the usual 4-pack".
Herminia shrugged before saying, "It depends".
After she drilled Brociade on possible strategies, Jade Heath, victor of the 106th Hunger Games, arrived.
"Where's the girl?" she asked.
Y
"She scratched him up already, so tread with caution."
Jade shrugged before saying she could "Deal with the feisty ones better than that Harley boy."
Herminia sniggered to herself before Brociade asked who that "Harley boy was".
Herminia grinned, saying, "He was a victor from the Damned Ones district." Brociade laughed before replying "Fair enough". As Jade laughed, she brought an assortment of dinner foods to Qwendlon. It is unknown what the pair talked about at this time, but much to the relief of Jade and Herminia, Qwendlon and Broicade agreed still to stick together besides their earlier brawl. As the train from District 2 soon settled into Snow Station, Herminia and Jade helped their tributes up and told them to just "be themselves". Immediately, loud cheers and excited squeals sounded as the two mentors from District 2 regally waved before introducing the crowd of citizens at the train station to their tributes.
Brociade appeared to be a hit with the ladies in the crowd, becoming quite the ladies' man from his boyish charm and "strong-minded" personality. Even after he finished talking to one of his admirers, he softened seeing one younger lad sinning to him.
Brociade smiled before giving the young kid an autograph. The wee lad smiled back with joy flowing through his face. Brociade looked back at Herminia as she smiled warmly and gave him a thumbs up. However, with Qwendlon, she opted for the train platform greeting time to be a time of strength showing, causing Brociade and Qwendlon to compete by proving who was stronger. As Brociade appeared to be the winner, Qwendlon nearly tackled Brociade to the ground. However, saving the favored district's reputation, Jade and Herminia thanked the Capital for their time as the excited Capital audience waved at the four of them. During the limousine ride, Jade yelled at Qwendlon for nearly embarrassing her and Herminia, shouting that this could "Ruin their chances and even the district's reputation". Herminia soon looked back and did goofy faces at Brociade, causing him to laugh. Herminia soon calmed her own mentor down before the limo arrived at the accommodation tower.
The pair soon were greeted by their new stylist, Junipero Cardew. However, after he did his best in showing his tributes his Roman soldier-themed ideas, when Qwendlon laughed out loud, saying "All you're gonna look like is a Roman guard with dog poop on his head."
"Well, I guess Bonnie dumped you because that's because you're the dog poop personality."
Immediately, Qwendlon broke out of her stylist's grip, throwing her fist up into Brociade’s nose. He lost his temper before kicking Qwendlon into a wall. He winced in pain as Qwendlon soon barreled into him again, causing Junipero, Jade, Herminia, and even a few Avoxes to get caught in the brawl. As the brawl continued, Brociade shouted "Herminia, a little help, please, she's choking me." As Brociade soon threw Qwendlon off again, a loud voice soon screamed, "ENOUGH!"
"THAT'S ENOUGH! I WON'T LET THIS RUIN OUR REPUTATION."
As a rather tired Junipero ordered for peacekeepers to lock Qwendlon in her room until the parade, Herminia and Junipero joined Brociade outside on the balcony.
"So, we know she’s out of the picture."
Brociade shrugged before allowing Junipero to stitch up the bleeding marks on his nose as Herminia brought a portable TV out before going through the past reaping commentaries in the districts. As he began to take notes, Herminia interrupted him, saying, "Keep the primadonnas at arm's length. Bonnie had an early out due to that spunky little brat from 8."
Brociade nodded before dressing in his Roman soldier outfit before Herminia brought him back as two peacekeepers escorted the pair from 2 with their stylists soon following with the addition of Herminia and Jade. Once they arrived, they were greeted by Sterling and Tiffany, both from 1. Brociade seemed to have an instant acquaintance with Sterling in particular, bonding over the fact of "Despising their district partners".
"So, what's the deal with the girl?"
"Eh, she dated my old girlfriend who died last year during the games, and she was her ex."
Sterling snorted out in laughter before he added that "Wanna get the boy over there to join?"
Brociade shrugged before he and Sterling walked over to Anchor from 4, having a chat with his district partner Marina and Clarion from 5. Marina seemed to be rather petrified seeing two rather strong Career boys nearby her, even her mentor Sienna Shoreville looked on. However, she was surprised to hear Anchor accepted but on the condition that Marina would stay with him. Jafar shrugged, saying "Fair enough". As the pair walked back, seeing Anteno from 3 asking,
"What about me?"
Brociade laughed seeing the 14-year-old ask eagerly before he replied, "Buzz off", causing Anteno to walk back to his own carriage, looking at a rather bemused Albert Latier.
"Nice job, remember what I told you."
He fist bumped Herminia before Junipero and Jade smiled and wished them luck.
As the parade kicked off without any issues, after the roaring cheers for the pair from 1 with their royal sapphire suits and gowns, the pair from 2 soon took the show, regally waving and giving a "Different side" of the 2s. However, Capital citizens and even many commentators noticed the growing annoyance on Brociade’s face as Qwendlon waved in front of his face and once she stood in front of him, leading Brociade to nearly fall off the carriage.
Jade could be seen in the crowd scowling at her niece’s "Peculiar attitude' during the parade. At the end of the parade, the crowd applauded as President Mcaine did his usual speech about the glory of the Capital and how it always overcomes adversity and issues before he welcomed Nico Anderson to the stage. Nico gave a rather flamboyant welcome as he was adorned in a rainbow suit covered with a load of flowers. After giving credit to the stylists, he then crowned the pair from 1 as Anderson Fashions best-dressed for their sapphire-themed couture.
As many of the Capital crowd clapped in appreciation, the parade concluded. Unfortunately, a rather violent brawl took place in the District 2 apartment, with Jade doing her best to keep her niece from "Stabbing everyone with a alcohol bottle or destroying every bottle on sight."
Brociade sniggered before telling Jade to "Keep your attack child down". Causing her to furiously look back, however, before she could say anything else, Herminia brought the rather angry boy from 2 to his room. As Jade gave up with her niece.
The next morning, training took place at 10 am as per usual. Apollo Price greeted the tributes with his usual strict demeanor. He also suggested to "Not scratch each other up yet", clearly referencing Qwendlon’s "Fighting episodes" with Brociade. Price then turned on his taser as the trainers soon followed before he dismissed the tributes.
Rather surprisingly, the Careers did practice together. However, when Tiffany hurled a spear so hard into a display it went right through nearly hitting Wybrana from 3 in the head. Wybrana squeaked in fear as Qwendlon laughed so hard Tiffany heard.
"What's so funny?"
Jade and Quintin Mahoney, victor of the 108th Hunger Games, watched on in intrigue. However, when Qwendlon punched Tiffany in the face, a brutal hair-pulling, scratching fight broke out.
"Get off me, you psychopathic bitch."
Luckily for Tiffany, Jade and Apollo picked her up and put Qwendlon in an isolation pod. Jafar looked back and gave Tiffany a knowing look before she chatted with Marina from 4. Brociade seemed to enjoy his district partner's fight. He stayed with Anchor, hurling Tridents into many targets. The pair ended up high-fiving before seeing Clarion from 5 looking with intrigue. However, when Jafar looked at Clarion in a threatening manner, Clarion sinned, asking Jafar if he would want to spar.
As Jafar and even Brociade were taken aback by the sudden courage, Jafar smirked before nodding as Clarion’s mentor, Regina Harrington, looked on in worry. As a small crowd formed, the men were dressed in the appropriate pads. And after a sharp reminder on a fair fight, the men begun. Rather surprisingly, Clarion had appeared to get the upper hand in the match before rather unsurprisingly being overpowered by Jafar, leading with a score of 17-8.
Brociade and the Career girls cheered Jafar’s name as Clarion was soon helped out of the stadium door by his district partner, Victoria, to the camouflage station. And as for the remainder of the 3 days of training passed rather uneventfully for all.
As the game maker evaluations came into play, Qwendlon and Brociade were early on in the lineup. Qwendlon was brought up first before requesting for a plate of fire to be brought in. As mild sounds of concern sounded in the assessor's hall on the surprising "Psychopathic nature" of this tribute, Game Maker Monty nodded as Qwendlon walked into the containment room. As she began her assessment, many of the nearby assessors soon looked on in bewilderment as the girl from 2 hit all the provided targets, greatly scaring and impressing the assessors. And to top off her act, she shoved the burning arrow down her throat and then out.
She gave her usual sinister smile as she then walked out of the assessment hall. As for Brociade, he requested to be blindfolded. As an Avox did this task, Brociade then walked over to the nearby knives table. He threw many into the nearby targets; the assessors looked on in bewilderment as these knives soon turned into a smiley face as the assessors clapped. Brociade bowed as he removed the blindfold; he grinned, clearly being impressed with his work.
After the rather pitiful displays of the pair from 14, the tributes were quickly ushered back to their apartments as their mentors turned on the TVs, turning to Camilia Ravenstil's live show, reading the results. Leading the pack was Brociade from 2 with a score of 11, with Jafar and Tiffany both from 1 with a 10. Qwendlon scored a 9. Anchor scored an 8. Clarion, a 5. And at the bottom of the pack was Frank from 8 and Mina from 11 with scores of 2 each.
Qwendlon was beyond enraged that she was outraged with Brociade and how she had been outstaged. Brociade laughed before pouring himself a triple vodka cranberry as Herminia quizzed him on interview questions. As the pair watched, Junipero crafted their luscious dress and suits.
In the evening, Camila Ravenstil welcomed the excited Capital audience, twirling around in her seaside-themed dress with her newly dyed light blue hair. Even being 8 months pregnant, she was still the living definition of grace and beauty. After hyping up the audience for the upcoming games, the interviews from the pair from 1 were given a warm welcome, giving high praise for their stunning ruby gowns and charismatic demeanors. Tiffany from 1 even braided Camilia’s hair into a jewel-like style, and her charismatic attitude made her even more of a Capital favorite. Qwendlon was welcomed in next, fashioning a stunning golden dress and a laurel wreath.
Rather surprisingly, her overly competitive nature had faded away as she rather flirtatious response and attitudes to Camilia’s questions, leading her to sharply remind Qwendlon that "She was married". Qwendlon soon blushed in embarrassment before running out of the interview rooms, much to the amusement of Capital citizens. Jade could be seen in the audience slapping her face in embarrassment as Brociade was welcomed in next.
His light brown hair had been styled and dyed a light brown, falling with a gold suit showing his muscular figure and golden jeans, Brociade became more of a sensation in the Capital as he managed a decent bantering session with Camilia, almost daring her to be more flirtatious. Before the end of the interview, Camilia asked Brociade if the Career alliance would be "filed or would there be any modifications."
Brociade winked before saying "Just the little brat that I have to unfortunately call my district partner."
The audience laughed good-naturedly before Camilia then dismissed him. The rest of the interviews went rather uneventfully, with Clarion from 5 becoming an unexpected Capital favorite through his comedic sign language anecdotes with Camila. And Leon from 7 being fawned over by nearly every lady in the audience. After the rather pitiful interview from the boy from 14, Game Maker Monty was welcomed to the stage with a standing ovation. Cyrus was adorned in a fabulous suit of sapphire with a green and brown bountier. After a good ol catch up with Camilia and congratulating her on her pregnancy with triplets, Camila graciously accepted this complement before doing her usual attempt in asking for an arena hint. Unsurprisingly, Cyrus kept his mouth shut, resulting in good-natured laughter from the citizens in the studios. Camila smirked before thanking Game Maker Monty for his time before ending the interviews there.
After an uneasy night, with mentors calming uneasy ones and fights and arguments raged on, the day of the games finally arrived. The tributes were then flown to the arenas holding rooms. Once they arrived, peacekeepers brought in the outfits: breathable tank tops, cargo shorts, and shoes.
It was no surprise that Qwendlon was not visited by anyone. She grinned her now-infamous eerie smile before she walked into the tube. As for Brociade, he was visited by Herminia.
"Stay out of trouble and remember, put on a show."
Brociade smiled warmly before hugging Herminia.
"Wait."
Herminia was surprised to see a note that he had written the night before. And after re reading the note Hermina wiped a tear before nodding as Brociade smiled as he walked into his tube as it then rose into the arena.

In-Game FAQ

1. When is anniversary coming?
Half-year 28 February 6AM UTC
Full-year 28 August 6AM UTC

2024.04.28 23:21 Filumena_D **Update** The lyrics of the song

So, I decided to download the latest patch. They messed up again somewhere, but it's supposed to be a new update for the RU-BDO server. **New update, new update!** All my PvE dreams will come true with this new patch. 700 GS per month, you know? New update, fishing and horse stuff. New update, minus 10k karma. Once again, the update simplifies the game by randomly assigning heroes, but you won't have balance. The trash class will add damage to mana sticks and water fish, and it's sad that there will be lag in the game. Another update, server patch, no more invulnerability. FPS won't work, and I died in the clouds again. The update affects heroes and sieges. The review took 5 hours. The clan arena is trash and the hero editor is one, the variables are removed, and there are long sieges again! You can go free to test the combo, but soon you'll be reading thousands of words again for a few hours.Because the patch is new, rebalancing is happening. Two years later, a new solar patch. A new leader is leaving, and HI-VAR is fading away. There are almost no communities left. You go to your favorite spot, and there's some crazy guy kicking mobs. He's already on the forum, chin-choking, "May there be salvation for you!" You catch a horse, but it's bullshit for beginners. This is for beginners, and a free T9 horse. It's the fifth item to choose from and it doesn't feel like zero anymore. You come to finish it, "I'm a beginner!!! How is that possible?" A new patch restores the stones for donations. A guarantor for sharpening, 50 drops every month. Not a shit eater, but a mixer! You take part in a siege and there are 12 piles nearby. We survived as best as we could., but for some reason, the servers just crashed. You know, they were cutting up some promo codes, and we figured out how to balance the server for you in half a year! New patch, new PVP, new patch, new barcode fired in the basement, new patch from the developers, who ignored everyone again, new patch from PEARL ABYSS, and another new patch from PEARL ABYSS.

2024.04.27 05:47 throwaway3260247 Why do Wattson’s fences feel so much better in R5 Reloaded?

I downloaded R5R for the first time tonight because I wanted an aim trainer designed for apex and i was just goofing around exploring some of the maps and fiddling with legend abilities and Wattson’s fences are incredible. They are so much smoother to put down and pick up, you don’t have to fight to connect them to each other, there’s none of the weird “sticking” that’s going on currently where you pick up a node and a new one immediately goes down even when you didn’t press it. If you’re connected to a line of nodes you can pick them all up as long as you’re just in range of the first one, and you can even pick up nodes BEHIND you as long as they’re connected to the strand you’re picking up. I was just sprinting around an empty kings canyon spamming fences because it felt so good to not have to fight or microadjust and press the button a million times to get a fence to go down… They just went down where i put them. It was magical.
I’m just curious as to what is causing them to be so much more janky in actual apex. Is it just changes with ground geometry? The king canyon I was playing on was from S2, but that was just the map, it wasn’t S2 Wattson. And even in places that stayed the same as current-season Apex the fences felt smoother than they currently are. Whatever they got goin on in R5 can we get a big helping of it in Apex please because her fences haven’t felt that buttery in a long time.

2024.04.27 01:01 griffin12345678 Nobody Wants to Hear This... But You Guys Are in the Wrong

I'm ready for all the hate I'm going to receive from this, but I've been reading thread after thread after thread, of grown men crying about logistics they don't understand and interpreting phrases in ways that only align with their own narrative.

Understanding DLC

By definition, anything you download is DLC. If that's the case, every update that made changes to the game (Weather, Boss Events, Weapon Additions) would all fall under DLC, which you got for free, no matter your edition. You, the consumer, don't get to dictate how BSG packages and presents their products to market. That's the freedom they get when running their own business. BSG never underlined WHAT DLC was going to be. So sitting here nitpicking at what you want to be DLC doesn't work. If you go to a restaurant, you don't get to tell the server “actually this meal should be $20 not $50 because that’s how much it is at this other place.” Someone tried to counter that argument with "Its like ordering a Beef Patty and getting Chicken instead, only for them to tell you that the chicken IS beef because that's what they deem it to be." That's not the case. BSG didn’t serve you a Chicken Sandwich, you got the Beef you asked for, but you didn’t get the extra sides for free. Your Beef came with Gamma, higher trader rep, bigger stash, better starting gear. Sorry you don’t get to have all the side options, if you would like them, you pay extra.

You Didn't Get "Scammed"

Throwing around loosely brought up ideas in a video call with a streamer is not a "Nikita promised us these things!". Nikita never defined what he was gonna be releasing as DLC, rather speculated on the things he wanted to do, using very vague terms and not directly saying what was to be included. Did you guys forget that song you were singing for years up until now? No? Let me refresh your memory because every complaint someone had, somebody else was right there to say "Its in beta what did you expect?" The fact that this player base is no longer sticking with that and jumping FAR, to call BSG scammers is an eye-opener to how "supportive" you guys have been in the past. The self entitlement is beyond surreal. If they are telling you this isn't a DLC, then it isn't. You don't get to pick and choose how they package their products, as stated above. If you think a Law Firm will jeopardize their reputation and attempt to Class Action BSG, you are very much ignorant to the way the justice system works in the US and EU.

Pay2Win

Unheard comes with very slight Pay-2-Win features; The bigger pockets and the Unheard Beacon. Everything else is just QoL and wont affect your interactions with other players in raids. That flare is for PVE mode only, and is basically useless. The bigger pockets are obtainable via quest and the Beacon is virtually useless as killing scavs causes you to lose Scav Rep. Yea, I can horde more items early on, but that was already possible with EOD at the start of the wipe. Thanks BSG, you also saved me 1m rubles on the first Scav case that I can buy at level 10 anyway.... Nothing thats offered in this new edition is game breaking, or so extremely overpowered that it turns me into a god.

But Why Release It Now?

If by now you don't understand the why, then you have been living under a rock. BSG had been hitting the advertising HARD for Arena. They had a vision and enough funds to advance their game to the next level. They dump WAAAY too much money into Events for Arena and screen-time for trailers. All your EOD money went to a game that WE ALL WANTED, had been teased for years, and was to progress Tarkov to its next stage. But it failed. And sometimes, your investments don't pay out and there is no way to know if your product will flourish or not without going all in. In my opinion, they did a pretty decent job when it comes to the release of Arena, but it just wasn't as well received as BSG hoped. The best way to recuperate funds after a massive hit like that is to create some sort of reason for players to purchase something from them. They need money to keep the game running, and if you think that spending $140 three years ago gets the job done then you are truly naive to the way businesses stay afloat. They need funds, and to get them, they are offering you ingame perks. Nothing new to that business model and nobody is forcing you to buy it.
I'm sure I'm missing so key points but my brain is so fried from reading these threads. BSG didn't slap you in the face... You are slapping yourselves.

2024.04.22 19:04 TomGun_1994 Is 2k23 more stable in terms of creations?

I was just looking at my arenas I downloaded and a few of them have logos from other creations I have. I also had this on a few caws as well. Am I better off just sticking w 23 for now?

2024.04.22 13:39 MoreLunch1547 Gta V xbox modding

Recently, I was thinking about modding on Xbox. A while back, I researched it and concluded it was impossible due to fake videos and such. However, I stumbled upon an update for Adv File Explorer, which can see packages. Though you can't directly download stuff, you can use a USB stick to upload and copy files onto the Xbox. This opens up the possibility of modding. I'm considering whether Kiddions Trainer Menu might work, but I'm concerned because it's an overlay, not an in-game loaded thing. Also, if done online, it could be detectable. I'm trying to find out where the GTA V folder is located and what trainers might be compatible.

In-Game FAQ

1. When is anniversary coming?
Half-year 28 February 6AM UTC
Full-year 28 August 6AM UTC
