2024.05.16 19:18 Puzzlehead-Pisces2 The choice to throw the backpack out alongside Highway 18 as opposed to burning it or completely destroying it suggests to me that the perpetrator was in a rush to get rid of the bag. Someone who knew they were considered a suspect by law enforcement.
Detective Crawford said that the location of the bookbag looked as though it had been thrown from a moving vehicle. (Or perhaps that someone parked their car on the side of Highway 18 and simply tossed the bag out as far as they could throw?)
Sounds to me like the killer was quickly trying to discard the bag, as if they were in a panic. Double wrapped it in trash bags trying to conceal its identity, and in such a frenzy that they forgot to remove the slip of paper containing Asha's name and phone number that was in the bag (which helped identify that the bag was hers).
Throws it 25 miles away from Asha's home in an area where trash is commonly disposed, that way if the bag is discovered, it shifts the attention and focus in the opposite direction from where Asha lived and went to school.
I think that someone a bit more experienced or methodical would've simply burned the bag or destroyed it. The way that it was discarded, with all contents kept inside and sloppily concealed in a trash bag suggests to me someone the person who got rid of the bag was frantic, as if they knew or felt were considered a suspect and thus had to get rid of that backpack. Didn't matter where or how, just get rid of the bag.
I'm thinking back to how Harold mentioned in the 911 phone call that Asha's bag and purse went missing, without even being solicited that information. It's almost as if it was hurriedly mentioned by him to help establish the runaway theory, and Harold knew that he and his wife would be considered suspects by law enforcement / the home would be searched and thus knew that the backpack had to be removed from the home premises as soon as possible. Plus, Harold and Iquilla stated that they accurately described all of the contents in the backpack, including two items (NKOTB nightgown and McEllington's Pool book) which didn't belong to Asha.

When I was a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, I took this course called Intro to Deep Learning. Don't let the name of this course fool you; it was absolutely one of the hardest and most interesting classes I've taken in my entire life. In that class, I fully learned what "AI" actually means. I learned how to create state-of-the-art AI algorithms – including training them from scratch using AWS EC2 clusters.
But, I loved it. At this time, I was also a trader. I had aspirations of creating AI-Powered bots that would execute trades for me.
And I had heard of "reinforcement learning" before.. I took an online course at the University of Alberta and received a certificate. But I hadn't worked with "Deep Reinforcement Learning" – combining our most powerful AI algorithm (deep learning) with reinforcement learning
So, when my Intro to Deep Learning class had a final project in which I could create whatever I wanted, I decided to make a Deep Reinforcement Learning Trading Bot.
However, despite the complexity of the models we built, none of the models were able to develop a trading strategy on SPY that outperformed Buy and Hold.
I'll admit the code is very ugly (we were scramming to find something we could write in our paper and didn't focus on code quality). But if people here are interested in AI beyond Large Language Models, I think this would be an interesting read.

Background: What is Deep Reinforcement Learning
Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) involves a series of structured steps that enable a computer program, or agent, to learn optimal actions within a given environment through a process of trial and error. Here’s a concise breakdown:- Initialize: Start with an agent that has no knowledge of the environment, which could be anything from a game interface to financial markets.
- Observe: The agent observes the current state of the environment, such as stock prices or a game screen.
- Decide: Using its current policy, which initially might be random, the agent selects an action to perform.
- Act and Transition: The agent performs the action, causing the environment to change and generate a new state, along with a reward (positive or negative).
- Receive Reward: Rewards inform the agent about the effectiveness of its action in achieving its goals.
- Learn: The agent updates its policy using the experience (initial state, action, reward, new state), typically employing algorithms like Q-learning or policy gradients to refine decision-making towards actions that yield higher returns.
- Iterate: This cycle repeats, with the agent continually refining its policy to maximize cumulative rewards.
How I applied it to the stock market
My team implemented a series of algorithms that modeled financial markets as a deep reinforcement learning problem. While I won't be super technical in this post, you can read exactly what we did here. Some of the interesting experiments we tried included using convolutional neural networks to generate graphs, and use the images as features for the model.However, despite the complexity of the models we built, none of the models were able to develop a trading strategy on SPY that outperformed Buy and Hold.

Hi, I wanted to ask a few things as I've been thinking on and off about wanting to get a little into graffiti for a while now, just haven't really got to it yet.
Are there some resources about like the 'theory', like all the diffirent ways to write a letter and ways to stylize it. Or just a deep dive into all of it on like a 'theoretic' side
(if there is like a 'theoretic' and then the actual 'execution'/ the mechanical skill of holding a pen and writing, if that makes any sense. I imagine studying fonts from some website and calligraphy and learning to write in a decently readible handwriting would be useful?)
Also, how much does the 'name' or different words written mean? Is it just random stuff/ a word that looks cool/ does it actually mean something?

The initial idea for the game was very simple: "Everything is infinite." You capture spawners, and they keep producing units endlessly. You add upgrades (in the form of buildings), and all future units will be stronger - as long as the upgrade building is intact. The gameplay would be the same as all RTS, only very abstract, without resources: Keep the opponent under control while advancing your macro position, until you overwhelm them with superior forces.
To reduce the potential for stalemates, only one tweak was added: Players can permanently sacrifice a whole spawner in exchange for a temporary boost in unit production speed. This would enable "race to the bottom" style gameplay, players are forcing each other to sacrifice more and more, until finally one side has nothing left.
Now when I had all that working for multiplayer and turned to the singleplayer, a new aspect came up. I did specifically not want the solo mode to just be "mp vs. ai" - rather it should be a series of capturing randomly generated fortifications. Taking the fort would mean taking a bunch of spawners, to power a larger assault against the next (larger) fort, and so on. But ramping linearly like this is harsh. One would like to have smaller fortifications on the side, to discover, to destroy for some sort of reward. Less linear gameplay, more choices. Rush it or take it easy.
So I added "Artifacts," a smaller kind of reward. Acts like an upgrade building, only it can be moved around. So you take a small fortification, find an artifact, put it to some of your spawners and get stronger units. Still infinitely.
This fundamentally worked as a solo mode. But players noted that it all felt a bit hollow. Just stomping forward, growing, no real "resources to manage." So I got back, to a yet older idea of mine - which would have been an RTS where each unit was composed of 3-4 parts: Body/Frame, Weapon, Armour, Jewelry. With the equipment pieces being complex like in a proper ARPG, and at the same time: exhaustible. Maybe the PoE devs can make this game one day! I now think it’s way too complicated for too little gain. But I took the one point from it, namely making Artifacts have a limited amount of charges, after which they are used up and disappear. And similar to sacrificing spawners, artifacts can be put into overdrive to grant more power, at the cost of using up charges faster.
So the concept of "Artifact" is turned into "Stockpile of Trinkets" - little magical pieces that we give to our troops to make them stronger, and that get lost on the battlefield with their bearer.
Players still commented that the solo mode felt a bit - aimless. Because there was a lot of space, not filled with all that much going on. This inspired the latest step in evolution. The amount of Trinket Stockpiles to be found on the map has been vastly increased, and not all of them are fully guarded anymore. To properly turn the game into more of a grand old "collect resources" type of journey.
There remain further ideas, of how detailed management and gameplay could be added around the Stockpiles. Maybe new spawns have to first walk there, to pick up their trinket? Having to place the piles for shortest pathing and all, would start to feel like a real economy management game. We will see about that?
In multiplayer, it all remains optional. The mapper can decide if and how many trinket piles to spread on the map, and fix their stats upfront or have them randomised, and have them guarded or free for all to take.

The Coil
- The Coil Rules: Successfully complete four pathways inside Riven's Lair. Escalating Difficulty: Player's Power levels are fixed. Starting at 0 each subsequent pathway increases all combatants' Power level over the player's by 5. Wishing Glass: Wishing Glass is an in-activity currency. They drop from combatants, Glass Collectors, and pots. Wishing Glass comes in multiple rarities equating to their worth. Wishing Glass is used to purchase Dragon's Gifts from Riven. Dragon's Gifts: A set of buffs are randomly chosen, once per run. Between pathways, players can purchase buffs from Riven via Wishing Glass. Buffs are separated into three price point tiers. Rewards: After each pathway, players will return to Riven for their rewards. Subsequent pathways pay out better rewards. Breaking through score thresholds unlock secret chests. Finishing The Coil with a platinum score rewards players with access to the lustrous and lucrative Chamber of Wishes.
- Multiplicity: Combatant difficulty scales with fireteam size.
- Limited Revives: Limited fireteam revives. Purchase additional revives from Riven with Wishing Glass. Small chance to drop from destroying pots.
- Full Extinguish: If all your fireteam members fall with 0 Revive Tokens, everyone is returned to orbit.

Ok first of all for context I'm 16 living at my boyfriends house since September. Social services got involved in January and have been absolutely no help whatsoever. They said they're not sending me home, I refused to become a LAC (child in their care), and I told them that their visits stress me out and I feel that they are extremely rude and inconsiderate to me.
They have been very bad at contacting us and multiple times I have tried to call/text them and inform about things my mother was saying/doing such as not letting my sibling see me. No response whatsoever.
The only times I got contacted by them was when they randomly showed up at school without warning, and the head tescher even asked me if I wanted to turn them away because I was not required to talk to them and they didn't get permission to see me during school.
Anyways they were going to go ahead with a kinship assessment for my boyfriends parents so that they could receive benefits for me etc. They told my bfs parents 2 separate dates they would be coming to visit them. First date comes, they didn't show up and there was no contact whatsoever. Second date comes, same thing again.
The second date was about 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything until now, they must have came to our house today and put this in the letterbox when we were away. I do not want to comtact them at all as they do not respond when I try to talk to them, and they are basically useless as they have already deemed I am doing alright and have hopefully hearr the same from my mother as both me and them are in contact with her regularly as I have 2 siblings still living at home.
I am wondering if there will be any reprocussions if I just ignore this note. They have my phone number, my email, and both of my boyfriends parents numbers too.
So I do not think this was a very reliable way of trying to contact us if they actually wanted to, as it wouldn't have even been noticed until my boyfriend saw something in the bottom of the postbox and had to get tongs to even reach it

I recently transfered my offline server to online but there is 2 things that are problems but all your items in your inventory/echest stay!
the 2 problems are since your pets have a "different owner" cause of the uuid you dont have control
and your stats get reset
But its a small price for cracked to be off
DO THIS IN NOTEPAD THEN COPY PASTE BACK INTO YOUR SERVER
To turn cracked off go into your minecraft server and copy and paste your whole whitelist into a notepad and label at the top CRACKED UUIDS so you remember and then do that again for the bottom but instead of cracked uuids you label it MOJANG UUIDS.
Then you need to go through the bottom where your mojang uuids are because the cracked ones are there and delete the cracked uuids and then go to the website https://namemc.com/ and when you type in the players username copy the one with the dashes and put it in the section on your notepad now do this for all uuids
If there is a cracked player all there data is bye bye, erase them from the mojang uuid section there are irrelevant
Once Finished go to your server files, I use filezilla for my shockbyte server so if you have an external 3rd party program do as I say its all generally the same
Once connected to your 3rd party service for your server click world or whatever your minecraft world file is named
Then Click playerdata
THIS IS A VERY TEDIOUS PROCESS TAKE YOUR TIME
Once you see all the random letters and numbers which is player data use your notepad and start from the top of the cracked uuids to help your search do (ctrl f) on your keyboard it will pop a word search
Make sure during your process that the period on (.dat) and (.dat.old) dont get erased that stays the WHOLE UUID goes
Once you find the first players cracked uuid rename it to the mojang uuid
Do this for everybody
If you HAVE A CRACKED PLAYER DELETE THERE UUID
You might also have had your server on non-cracked/online mode for alittle, dont ever be scared to overwrite something some players might have a popup its all good
Now go into your servers website and the rest is through it

CLICKED WHITELISTED PLAYERS
WITH THE FORMAT COPY AND PASTED FROM THE BEGINNING PUT THE MOJANG UUIDS INTO WHITELISTED PLAYERS REMOVE THE OLD WITH THE NEW

Then you need to go through the bottom where your mojang uuids are because the cracked ones are there and delete the cracked uuids and then go to the website https://namemc.com/ and when you type in the players username copy the one with the dashes and put it in the section on your notepad now do this for all uuids
If there is a cracked player all there data is bye bye, erase them from the mojang uuid section there are irrelevant
Once Finished go to your server files, I use filezilla for my shockbyte server so if you have an external 3rd party program do as I say its all generally the same
Once connected to your 3rd party service for your server click world or whatever your minecraft world file is named
Then Click playerdata
THIS IS A VERY TEDIOUS PROCESS TAKE YOUR TIME
Once you see all the random letters and numbers which is player data use your notepad and start from the top of the cracked uuids to help your search do (ctrl f) on your keyboard it will pop a word search
Make sure during your process that the period on (.dat) and (.dat.old) dont get erased that stays the WHOLE UUID goes
Once you find the first players cracked uuid rename it to the mojang uuid
Do this for everybody
If you HAVE A CRACKED PLAYER DELETE THERE UUID
You might also have had your server on non-cracked/online mode for alittle, dont ever be scared to overwrite something some players might have a popup its all good
Now go into your servers website and the rest is through it

the 2 problems are since your pets have a "different owner" cause of the uuid you dont have control
and your stats get reset
But its a small price for cracked to be off

I'm trying to set it up so that when I connect to car play it automatically ask me where am I going, gets direction, starts navigation, then ask me if there's any one id like too inform of my arrival time, I say the name of a contact and it sends a message to that person giving then my expected arrival time from my directions, then opens sound Cloud and plays from the "liked tracks" list in random order. I get to the directions but not sure how to have it ask me where I'm going then search for it and then start the navigation same with the text message please help.

So, I'm a 33 year old woman but I'm genuinely sure I am autistic. I grew up in the 90s when people were generally less diagnosed, and more or less just considered quiet and strange to everyone around me. Especially as a girl, I learned to mask very well and sort of fit in with my peers. Except I had a wild obsession for frogs and reptiles, had a closet full of random rocks and twigs and knew the name of every single Pokémon and it's evolution line. When I got into my preteen years I was obsessed with Avril Lavigne and found myself very unhealthily into trying to impersonate her and other celebrities. I've always been very anxious, antisocial (minus a few close friends) and found myself extremely overwhelmed in college. I ended up finding a trade I loved and then got married in my mid twenties to my now husband.
It's not until both of our sons were diagnosed in 2019 that the lightbulb went off in my brain. I love my kiddos do much, but boy, am I BURNT OUT by the end of the day. Dealing with my own emotions, trying to be a productive adult and help them manage their feelings and emotional regulation is very tough sometimes.

I have been helping students apply to FAFSA this year and i finally realized what irks me so much about this year’s application.
It is built like a puzzle.
A government form that seeks to provide financial aid for students should NOT be built like a puzzle.
it should be the most straightforward and easily accessible form ever.
I have been able to help several students apply, but the amount of random work arounds and “hacks” and “tricks” that we’ve had to use to make their forms go through is INSANE. it makes me so angry.
example 1: The form wasnt opening for the kid’s dad even though the kid had invited him and completed his own sections. We physically could not click on the form in the dad’s account. I had to delete it from the kid’s side and then make a new form from the dad’s account and then invite the kid and then that finally worked. But if a kid doesnt know to do that (who would know?) then they wouldnt be able to submit their FAFSA
example 2: The form was rejecting the mom’s info for no reason when we were adding her info as the second parent. I googled it and it said to make sure her last name is not longer than 12 characters. I deleted the extra characters and it worked. Which is INSANE!!! Some kids probably never submitted the form bc they didnt try to submit their mom’s name with letters cut off because who would try that, and cant get money for college bc of that
im sure you all have many more examples of how broken and tricky this forms. Idk if this is unpopular, but id rather have the entire form just not work than have it work with these stupid “tricks” and workarounds that only some people have access to

I had to delete it from the kid’s side and then make a new form from the dad’s account and then invite the kid and then that finally worked. But if a kid doesnt know to do that (who would know?) then they wouldnt be able to submit their FAFSA
example 2: The form was rejecting the mom’s info for no reason when we were adding her info as the second parent. I googled it and it said to make sure her last name is not longer than 12 characters. I deleted the extra characters and it worked. Which is INSANE!!! Some kids probably never submitted the form bc they didnt try to submit their mom’s name with letters cut off because who would try that, and cant get money for college bc of that
im sure you all have many more examples of how broken and tricky this forms. Idk if this is unpopular, but id rather have the entire form just not work than have it work with these stupid “tricks” and workarounds that only some people have access to

I would play a game or spin up a Hyper-V virtual machine and then suddenly, my monitor turns black and I see the reboot sequence. This sometimes happens once every week or so, completely random of course, and I would ignore it thinking it may be just a random power failure.
However, in the recent weeks, I have been getting random restarts more frequently, sometimes everyday, and it is literally causing my computer to be unusable. In fact, it has gotten so bad that at the time of this posting, its crashing and restarting every few minutes or so, and its extremely hard for me to diagnose the error because even by the time I navigate to event viewer, I barely have time to find the error before it crashes. However, I did manage to get some information on the culprit when looking at event viewer. Take a look below, the event is logged by WHEA and says

Recently my gf is having a pregnancy scare and she's really paranoid if she's pregnant or not, we decided to take a test dito sa bahay namin and it turns out na negative ang result so we were happy and relieved until my gf made a mistake, she forgot to dispose the pregnancy test kit hahahaha tangina diba. we aren't at 20s yet and our parents specially my mom is strict about having kids at this age ofc we are aware of this and i will admit that this is a big mistake, so we decided to stop doing the thing when my gf is having a pregnancy scare na although we should have done it earlier pero dahil sa kalibugan eh napunta pa sa gantong state.
