2024.05.16 22:06 Subatomic_Spooder Galaxy S22 or Pixel 8?

I currently use an LG Wing, it's been my daily for over a year now. However, it gets really bogged down at times, the battery life doesn't always get me through the day (I often find myself charging around 5 or 6), the swivel screen is cool but it also got misaligned when I dropped it a while back. It's getting loose and also has dirt in the hinge somewhere that grinds when I rotate it. I'm also just tired of having such a heavy phone that hasn't been updated in 4 years. I love showing off the swivel screen to people, but nothing really supports it anymore except YouTube, and all that does is let you pause the video with the bottom screen. You used to be able to split screen games and have a map on the bottom or other cool stuff, but I can't make that work anymore. Overall I feel like I'm sacrificing a lot just for a fun gimmick I never really use. So I'm looking to buy a new phone but not sure which way to go. Through my carrier, I could get a discounted brand new Pixel 8 for $449 USD. I think it would fit my needs pretty well, and I used to use a Pixel 4a so it would be like going back home in a way. On the other hand, I like the big size of the Wing and the s22 ultra would be more similar in size. They seem to go for around $450-500 USD for great to excellent refurbished condition. I'm worried on the 8's smaller screen I'd miss having that extra .5" of real estate, but the S22 Ultra has the same screen size as my Wing. I tried holding a display model s22 at a store a few months ago and I liked the feel in my hand, so I know I'd like its size. The Pixel I know is smaller so I'd have to adjust to it. The s22 also has more camera lenses, and I love to take photos on my phone so that would be a bonus for me. My Wing has a manual camera mode, which I think the s22 Ultra does as well, whereas the Pixel 8 doesn't. Since I like to mess around with camera stuff I would miss manual mode for a while. I'm not really a power user, I mainly just use social media, look stuff up, play a couple light mobile games, watch videos/movies, and listen to music. I doubt I'd notice much of a performance difference between the two. That said it just seems like the s22 Ultra is a more premium device with more features, so for (roughly) the same price why would I not choose it?
My main hesitation is that the Ultra wouldn't be new. I'd have no or less warranty, way fewer years of software support, an already used battery, and potentially end up with a phone that has scuffs or scratches. (I'm a very detail focused person and I like things I buy to be perfect lol). It's also already two generations old, while the Pixel is brand new. The Pixel has some cool AI stuff but I don't think it would make too much of a difference in my day to day. I think the idea of the stylus with the s22 is really cool. I'm an artist and it would be cool to be able to just sketch on my phone whenever I want. And being able to use it as a remote shutter is also awesome.
Sorry for the huge wall of text, but if you read through, thanks, and what would you recommend?
TL:DR: is the Pixel 8 or S22 Ultra a batter pick for the $450 range? I like the greater range of features of the s22 but I also like the longer software support and familiarity of the Pixel.

4 Ways to Control Your Soundbar with Apple TV Remote - Troubleshooting Tips Included!
NOTE: If you’re looking for a more detailed step-by-step guide complete with demo images for each method/solution, just check out the hyperlink under its name.
After running a lot of tests with my Apple TV 4K and LG, Vizio soundbars, I figured out how to control your soundbar with an Apple TV remote and wanted to share the best methods with you all.
Also, in case you're getting into trouble with the setup, I gathered successful fixes from various tech forums and from my own experience.
Full article here: [4 Ways to Control Your Soundbar with Apple TV Remote - Troubleshooting Tips Included!]()
Here’s a quick rundown of everything:

4 Easy Ways to Control Your Soundbar with an Apple TV Remote:

  1. Directly Control the Soundbar: Some soundbars can be controlled directly by the Apple TV remote without any additional setup. For example, my LG SN8Y soundbar can be controlled this way. Just point the remote at the soundbar to control volume and power. If this method doesn't work for your soundbar, you might need more setup.
  2. Connect Your Apple TV and Soundbar via Bluetooth: If your soundbar supports Bluetooth, you can connect it to your Apple TV. After linking them via Bluetooth, you should control the soundbar using the Apple TV remote easily.
  3. Connect Your Apple TV to the Soundbar, Then to the Smart TV: Using the HDMI passthrough feature. This involves plugging one HDMI cable from the Apple TV to the soundbar and another from the soundbar to the TV. Make sure to switch the soundbar to HDMI ARC mode and adjust the TV’s sound output settings.
  4. Connect Both the Apple TV and the Soundbar to the Smart TV: You can use two HDMI cables, one HDMI cable and one optical cable, or Bluetooth to connect the devices. For example, for the HDMI method, plug one cable into the Apple TV and the TV, and another into the soundbar and the TV. Adjust the sound output settings on the TV to HDMI ARC or Optical, depending on your connection.
Troubleshooting Tips:
  1. Set Up Sound Output Properly: Ensure your TV's sound output settings are correct. Different brands like LG might need specific adjustments.
  2. Reset Your Apple TV Remote: If the remote isn't working, try resetting it by pressing and holding the TV/Control Center and Volume Down buttons for 5 seconds.
  3. Check CEC Function: If the CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature is faulty, reconnect the devices using alternative methods.
  4. Fix Sticky Buttons: If any buttons on your Apple TV remote are sticky, clean them with an alcohol pad to restore functionality.
These methods should help you control your soundbar with your Apple TV remote, enhancing your home entertainment experience.

(Fixed) Apple TV Keeps Buffering? I've Found Out 12 Solutions!
After running a lot of tests and checking various tech forums, I figured out how to fix Apple TV buffering issues and wanted to share the best methods with you all.
Full article here: https://pointerclicker.com/apple-tv-buffering/
NOTE: If you’re looking for a more detailed guide complete with demo images for each solution, just check out the hyperlink under the solution's name. And some methods can be applied for many devices like Roku, smart TV (like Samsung, LG TV, and more), iPhone, iPad, etc.
Here’s a quick rundown of the best fixes I found:
  1. Check Your Router or Wi-Fi Connection: Sometimes, the issue is with your Wi-Fi. Try soft-resetting your router, switching to the 5 GHz band, bringing your router and Apple TV closer, letting your router cool down, updating your router's firmware, or upgrading to a faster internet plan.
  2. Troubleshoot Your Apple TV’s Internet Connection: Forget your Wi-Fi network and reconnect. Go to Settings > General > Network > Wi-Fi, select your network, and choose Forget Network. Then reconnect by entering your Wi-Fi password.
  3. Clear Background Apps: Background apps might be hogging system resources. Press the TV button twice on your remote to open the App Switcher, then swipe up on each app to close it.
  4. Perform a Soft Reset or Restart: Give your Apple TV a fresh start by going to Settings > System > Restart. You can also unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
  5. Let Your Apple TV Cool Down from Overheating: Overheating can throttle performance. Make sure your Apple TV is in a well-ventilated area and not getting too hot.
  6. Relieve the Storage: Uninstall unused apps to free up space. Go to Settings > General > Manage Storage and delete apps you no longer need.
  7. Reinstall Apps that Buffer: Sometimes, reinstalling the problematic app can help. Delete the app from the home screen or settings, and then reinstall it from the App Store.
  8. Check the Service Server Status: If the streaming service's servers are down, there’s nothing you can do but wait. Use websites like Downdetector to check the status of streaming services like Netflix, Apple TV+, etc.
  9. Turn Off Data Saver: If your router or mobile hotspot has a data-saving feature or QoS enabled, turn them off. These settings can limit bandwidth and cause buffering issues.
  10. Update Your Apple TV: Make sure your Apple TV is running the latest software. Go to Settings > Software > Software Updates, and select Update Software.
  11. Factory Reset Your Apple TV: As a last resort, factory reset your Apple TV by going to Settings > Systems > Reset/Reset and Update. This will erase all settings and data.
  12. Upgrade to a New Apple TV: If your Apple TV is outdated and no longer supports the latest updates, it might be time to upgrade to a newer model.
These methods should help you enjoy seamless streaming on your Apple TV.

2024.05.16 15:22 scgf01 LG C3 and C4 remote codes - are they the same?

I've ordered an LG C4 48" panel and am currently setting up my Safabaton remote. When I go to add device there are codes for the LG C3, but not for the C4. I know I can get the remote to learn the C4 codes - but I wondered if they would be the same so I can just add the C3 and it would do the job.
Does anyone know if they are the same codes?

How to Change Input with an Apple TV Remote With + 4 Alternative Ways to Switch the Source
After running a lot of tests and checking various tech forums, I figured out how to change the input with an Apple TV remote and wanted to share the best methods with you all.
Full article here: https://pointerclicker.com/can-apple-tv-remote-change-tv-input/
NOTE: If you’re looking for a more detailed step-by-step guide complete with demo images for each method, just check out the hyperlink under the method's name. The methods are better explained in the article; this post only summarizes the main ideas.
Here’s a quick rundown of the best fixes I found:

3 Ultimate Steps to Change Input with an Apple TV Remote:

  1. First, activate the CEC feature on your smart TV.
  2. On Apple TV, turn on Control TVs and Receivers (for the CEC).
  3. Then, press the Power or TV button on your Apple TV remote, and your TV will automatically switch to the Apple TV interface.
Some Drawbacks & Benefits:
While the Apple TV remote can switch to the Apple TV input from other sources, it can't switch back.
However, it can control your TV's power and volume.
To do this, go to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Control TVs and Receivers, and toggle it on.
Navigate to Volume Control and choose Learn New Device, then follow the on-screen instructions.

4 Alternative Ways to Change Input on Your TV:

1. Set Default Input: Set your TV to default to the Apple TV input every time it turns on. This way, you won't need to switch inputs manually. Each TV brand has its method, the article has the full guides for LG, Samsung, Sony, and Roku TVs.
2. Use Mobile App: Use a universal TV remote app on your smartphone. Download and install the app, ensure your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, and connect. This app can handle input switching for many TV brands.
3. Use the TV Remote: The most typical method involves pressing the Input or Source button on your TV remote and using the directional buttons to select the input you want. For Roku TVs, the process is different since their remotes often lack an input button.
4. Use the TV Button: Pressing the control button on your TV brings up a quick menu with various options, including input switching. For example, on an LG TV, press the Power button to open the Quick Menu, highlight the Input option, and select your desired input.
These methods should help you easily switch inputs on your TV using the Apple TV remote or other alternatives.

According to the latest report by Expert Market Research (EMR), the global air conditioners (AC) market share is projected to witness substantial growth, with a CAGR of 6.8% during the forecast period from 2024 to 2032. This growth is primarily driven by several factors, including increasing urbanization, rising temperatures due to climate change, and a growing focus on comfort and quality of life. The market is expected to expand significantly, fueled by technological advancements, changing consumer preferences, and the adoption of energy-efficient solutions.
Air conditioners have become an indispensable part of modern living, offering not only relief from heat but also improved air quality and comfort. The evolution of air conditioning technology has led to the development of highly efficient systems that consume less energy while providing superior cooling performance. One of the primary drivers of market growth is the increasing demand for air conditioning solutions in emerging economies, where rapid urbanization and rising disposable incomes have led to a surge in construction activities and infrastructure development. As more people migrate to urban areas, the demand for residential air conditioning units is expected to escalate, driving market growth.
Furthermore, the growing awareness about the importance of indoor air quality and its impact on health has led to a greater emphasis on air conditioning systems that incorporate advanced filtration and purification technologies. Consumers are increasingly seeking air conditioners that not only cool the air but also remove pollutants, allergens, and other harmful particles, thereby promoting a healthier living environment.
Moreover, government initiatives and regulations aimed at promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions have played a significant role in shaping the air conditioning market landscape. Incentives for the adoption of energy-efficient appliances, stricter energy performance standards, and the phasing out of ozone-depleting refrigerants have driven manufacturers to innovate and develop eco-friendly air conditioning solutions.
Another key trend driving market growth is the integration of smart technologies and connectivity features in air conditioning systems. The advent of smart thermostats, IoT-enabled devices, and mobile applications has transformed the way consumers interact with their air conditioners, allowing for remote monitoring, scheduling, and energy management. Here's the Right Ways to Turn Off Your Roku
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share some practical solutions for how to turn off your Roku properly.
I've tested these methods myself with my own Roku Express 4K+ and Roku Ultra with different TV brands like Roku, Samsung, LG, Sony, and TCL TVs.
Here are the best ways to turn off your Roku device:
And here's a quick rundown:
  1. Use the TV Off Option in the Roku Home Menu
    • On your Roku remote, press the Home button.
    • Select Home, then scroll down to find the TV Off option.
    • Select it to turn off both your Roku Player and TV simultaneously.
  2. Plug the Roku USB-Powered Cable into the TV's USB Port
    • Connect your Roku player to a TV USB port. This allows your Roku to turn off when the TV does.
    • NOTE: Ensure your TV’s USB port can supply enough power for your Roku model (check the article to learn more).
  3. Using a Smart Plug
    • Use a smart plug to control the power to your Roku independently from your TV.
    • Download the app for your smart plug and use it to turn your Roku on and off remotely on your phone.
  4. Using a Smart Outlet
    • Use a smart outlet like the TrickleStar Advanced PowerStrip.
    • Plug your TV into the "control" outlet and your Roku into the green outlet.
    • Then, turn off the TV will disconnect power to the Roku automatically.
Should You Leave Your Roku on All the Time? Roku devices are designed to stay on and enter power-saving mode when not in use. While this is generally safe, there are pros and cons:
Pros:
  • Automatic updates.
  • Saves startup time.
  • Convenience of not having to turn it off daily.
Cons:
  • Power consumption (around $5 per year).
  • Potential data consumption if a streaming service isn’t exited properly.
Hopefully, these tips help you manage your Roku more effectively!
Let us know your thoughts about the four methods above in the comments below!

2024.05.16 04:45 semiurge D20x5 Staristocrats of the Faufreluchean Future

Inspired by Solomon VK's Faufreluche posts.
D20 This staristocrat's badge of office
1 is a golden diadem which projects a hologram of Old Sol from its highest tine, as well as the rest of Man's Cradle-System orbiting about it.
2 is a hideous diamondoid mask made in the image of an alien demi-god from whom their esteemed house claims descent.
3 is an auroran magneto-cloth cape which flares with the oscillations of subtle fields.
4 is a porous meteoric amulet that echoes with the music of the spheres.
5 is a blade of enchained magnetic monopoles channeling ouroboric tangles of plasma - ever-glowing, their patterned glows expressing the cyclical yet self-degrading nature of the cosmos, able to cut through all but the most unnaturally enforced materials.
6 is a scepter containing a degenerate micro-verse within its topping globe.
7 is a battered helmet pulled from the suit of one of the first humans to reach outer space.
8 is a battle standard bearing the heraldry of their family, and topped with the head of a lion, preserved and animated to roaring unlife by cybernetic tubes woven through its flesh and bone.
9 is a halo of abstract mathematics, written directly on the fabric of space-time rather than mere matter.
10 is a pauldron of fused silicon, the remains of an artificial intelligence which almost overcame humanity.
11 is a dilating-lens lantern of an indestructible, orange-green alloy - fully unleashed, its actinic brilliance can guide in a ship from high orbit.
12 is a vial of their own, genetically-perfected blood, crystallized into a ruby-like gem.
13 is a crown of golden rings hovering about each other, each engraved with the zodiac of a different solar system.
14 is a famous artifact of Earth preserved within a temporal stasis-orb.
15 is a set of infrasonic pan pipes that can manipulate the minds of men and machine alike.
16 is a holy book written by the first settler of their world, in an eclectic script unreadable by anyone yet living.
17 is a shield with a brazen, hypercubic boss and a rippling purplish forcefield about.
18 is a labrys bearing edges honed to subatomic sharpness with whetstones hewn from the preternaturally dense heart of a collapsed star.
19 is a bowl holding a fractal bonzai grafted with branches of every fruit-bearing tree of humanity's homeworld.
20 is the head-sized smaragdine egg of some voidborne beast, the inevitable hatching of which is said to herald the end of the universe.
D20 This staristocrat's holdings
1 lie under a dimming sun, weakened by its fusion-harvest which forms the foundation of the staristocrat's wealth.
2 contain no life-bearing worlds, its population sustained only by technocratic hydro-pneumatic despotism.
3 bear the glassy-green sheen and asymmetrical mutations left by ancient nuclear war.
4 are mineral-rich but poor in organics and water, expending most of their export-wealth on life-giving imports just to survive.
5 produce a unique and inimitable spice, and are thus coveted by an extra-solar rival.
6 are either watery or gaseous, with dry, solid ground an unimaginable luxury - the populace living on great rafts or aerostats.
7 have recently absorbed a mass of refugees fleeing a black swan xeno-threat.
8 were enclosed from the common space of comet-cowboys, who plague it with their raids to this day.
9 are nestled among the ruins of an extinct alien civilization, probed only gently for fear of waking their automatic guardians.
10 are slowly but surely having their life-giving atmospheres stripped away by the rapacious solar wind of their red gigantism-suffering sun.
11 are deliberately kept ignorant of the wider galactic community to reduce their capacity to revolt, and so that the ruling class can portray themselves as deific through their technological capabilities.
12 are undergoing a long and delicate process of terraforming which structures cultural and religious cycles around these artificial seasons and critical thresholds.
13 are overgrown with a police state only nominally under the staristocrat's authority, and the computational bureaucracy that's arisen to process all their surveillance.
14 are infamous for their permissiveness, and abound in every sort of vice.
15 are torn apart on a planetary scale for the sake of resource-harvest and industry, and what unruptured ground exists is blanketed in choking smog outside sealed habitats.
16 were recently seized from a treasonous vassal and bestowed upon this staristocrat - the old holder's sympathizers still lurk within the population, evading the claws of inquisition.
17 exist mostly fictitiously, as moving shell-games of companies and titles.
18 are centered on an ecumenopolis with some roads paved with stones hewn before humanity's ancestors came down from the trees - its corners hide occultic dens of our darkest imaginings.
19 are generally scorching, deserts or liquid hells, their structures mirrored and extending tubes of heat exchanges and radiators like a seraphim wings.
20 are verdant in all forms of life - none go hungry, yet many are eaten, and a clan of masked physicians go about the populace to rebuke the tides of plague.
D20 This staristocrat is attended by
1 a harem of genetically-engineered Willendorfian Venuses, bearing a continuous stream of heirs who will duel over the matter of their inheritance in the arena of their crèche.
2 artful historians hunchbent over data-tablets, preserving every moment and detail of the staristocrat's life in imperishable crystalline records.
3 nigh-invisible bodyguards swaddled in light-bending metamaterial cloaks, heat haze auras ready to strike down any offense against their master.
4 clanking cyborg-knights - behind their cuirasses are tanks preserving the most loyal and chivalrous parts of their mortal brains.
5 slaves bearing explosive collars - the tribute of many conquered worlds.
6 a squadron of musclebound eunuch-janissaries raised from childhood with size- and strength-stimulating hormones and non-stop brainwashing.
7 clones of themself educated according to various traditions as diverse yet biologically-partial advisors.
8 the cryogenically-preserved heads of their forefathers, which sometimes dispense shivering, crackling counsel.
9 hovering laser-turrets fitted with targeting algorithms able to anticipate their master's desire to kill before it's consciously felt.
10 an enormous parrot with impeccable skill at mimicry, whose mind has been overwritten with every song recorded by humanity up until the time of its creation.
11 a pair of titanic wolfdogs, with metallic teeth that could rend apart a tank and hides that have turned aside artillery-shells.
12 the plush animatronic companion of their childhood, its digital personality updated to be a competent advisor.
13 a caste of butlers who've served their family for generations, bred like pedigreed dogs.
14 a choir singing their praises, the choir's lungs replaced with cybernetic jet-intakes slatted between ribs, so that they might sing unceasing.
15 a former whipping boy, their oldest friend, bearing the delicate scars of tremendously sophisticated tortures.
16 tumbling jesters dressed in patchworks of impossible colours captured from the coronas of half-real suns.
17 technotheologic angels dancing through the air on wings of incandescent blazons.
18 abductees from primitive worlds fitted with neural implants which make them believe they are simply in an extended dream.
19 a team of chefs who can prepare the delicacies of a dozen worlds, never repeating the same twice in their master's lifetime.
20 grey masters of anagathic science, whisper-arguing over the injections and ointments that will quicken them a while longer.
D20 This staristocrat's court
1 is entertained by a vapourous alien intelligence which takes possession of lesser courtiers through a fanciful hookah.
2 has its lesser members partially memory-wiped when they attend it - able to recall their skills, yet unable to remember much of their own identities, and so how to apply those skills for personal benefit.
3 is deliberately, performatively humble, held in barns and suchlike.
4 is overlooked by a cine-dome showing stars, moons, and constellations in fortuitous alignments.
5 is addicted to novelty, and constantly seeks new performances and grotesques.
6 is made up nepotistically of their siblings who did not win the contest to inherit the throne.
7 are waited on hand and foot by fragile ceramic robots imprinted with the tightly-enchained engrams of political criminals.
8 takes place entirely remotely - members are provided radio-devices with frequencies that trigger voice-like vibrations in great bells this staristocrat is in the constant presence of.
9 were at first ironically and now legitimately entranced by a bloody cult of sacrifice and agonies.
10 has been forced to accept elected representatives from among the populace by a revolt - to the grumblings of those who attained their positions through inheritance.
11 is wracked by a scandal involving mistresses overspending from public coffers.
12 is perpetually-wrapped in augmented-reality projections of mythic mimesis.
13 is burrowed among the roots of the biggest mountain of their throne-world, so that it could survive all but the most devastating attacks.
14 are all accompanied by a member of an order of courtesan-assassins implanted with acid-glands in case their charge shows overt disloyalty.
15 solve disputes among themselves with duels, and drill daily with various weapons and fighting styles.
16 is held within a hollow pyramid, with this staristocrat at the top point and many stairs and levels filtering petitioners between them and the entrance at the base.
17 is largely taken over by a conspiracy to poison this staristocrat, and even the uninvolved have begun to circle like vultures.
18 is a ring of stone thrones built to scale with the renown of the one who sits upon them - this staristocrat themself sits like a small child on a throne fit for giants - their seneschal on a stool.
19 is held around a colosseum, where gladiators and vicious alien beasts fight for their amusement and haruspexies.
20 is itinerant, a grand airship which hovers above the realms of hosting vavasours.
D20 This staristocrat's noble flaw
1 is hubris - they believe they can become like God by funding breakneck scientific process.
2 is bravery - they will fight to the last in the face of overwhelming odds, even if better options present themselves.
3 is honour - their thinking is rigid and totally un-utilitarian.
4 is generousity - they give without thinking, disrupting economies and fostering dependence with their largesse.
5 is parental love - they spoil their children on a terrible, cosmic scale.
6 is a thirst for justice - a continent has burned due to their need for a punishment fitting a truly awful crime.
7 is filial piety - their increasingly-senile dowager-mother has them tied around her bony finger.
8 is tolerance - they've cultivated cosmopolitan communities, yet failed to confront division and rising extremism.
9 is an aesthetic sense that is souring into decadence.
10 is persistence - they are a dogged obsessive.
11 is realpolitik - they've alienated possible allies with ruthlessness.
12 is faith - they lean often into outright zealotry.
13 is cautiousness - they often dive into outright paranoia.
14 is competitiveness - they're innovative, but often only in the tortures applied to defeated rivals.
15 is cleanliness - they have advanced to a purgative germaphobia.
16 is contentment - they have come to peace with all things, even if others demand their action.
17 is honesty - they will never lie, even if it benefits them and their people.
18 is is humility - they are overly-convinced of their own incapacity.
19 is romantic love - their spouse manipulates them to their knowledge yet total acquiescence.
20 is imagination - their fancies often end up unproductive or outright destructive.

2024.05.16 04:09 L-vi Polytopia King-of-the-Hill

I'm thinking about developing an ongoing Polytopia tournament where the top rise through the ranks, the bottom fall, and the middle get to maintain their position
ELO is great but I want to be able to see my positioning against other players more tangibly. I want to play Polytopia in a competitive way that gives me a chance to "rank up"
We would need at least 22 interested players to maintain 3 levels
It would be much more fun if there were ~668 active members as we could sustain 7 levels. The first level would be 16 player games, and games would decrease in size as you rank up. Top levels would be 3 or 4 player games (the arena would have to be dynamic to prevent long wait times between games)
I'm well aware that this isn't very descriptive but it will probably be several months before I put effort into developing this so for now I just want to collect phone numbers of seriously interested people. People who have been playing for years and KNOW they are going to keep playing.
If you are interested, if this sounds like something you'd enjoy, DM me your phone number. I'll text you once to confirm your number and I won't message you again until it's game time. This isn't some sleazy effort to capture your info so I can sell you shit, I just want another level of fun added to my favorite game.
---------- If you want more details, read on ---------- This will outline how King-of-the-Hill with over 600 active players would work. Don't argue with my math, these numbers aren't concrete as this would HAVE to be flexible.
As you move up levels, progression gets more difficult.
Level 1: 16 player games. The top 8 progress to level two. The bottom 8 stay in level 1
Level 2: ~13 player games. The top 3 progress to level 3. 4-6th place hold rank. 7-13th place fall back to level 1
Level 3: ~6 player games. The top 2 players advance to Level 4. 3-4th place hold rank. 5-6th place fall to level 2.
Level 4: ~4 player games. Top player advances to L5. 2nd place remains in L4. 3rd drops to L3. 4th falls back to L2
Levels 5 & 6 would look very similar to Level 4
Level 7: The winner is crowned King 👑. Everyone else falls your place -1 levels (3rd falls 2 levels. 4th falls 3 levels back if it's a 4 player game)
This structure would give players more reason to keep fighting and learning even after it's clear they will not win. It gives larger games more stakes because currently, if you ain't first you're last but I find multiple more fun than 1V1.
------------- RULES ------------ 1. You cannot resign if you have 2 or more cities. 2. Players who take over 24hrs are to be immediately skipped (not kicked)
Known rule breakers will be ejected back to Level 1 irregardless of what level they currently hold.
I think this would be really badass. Give it an up vote so more people can see it because it really doesn't start to get fun until there are at least 100 active participants. 22 would technically work, but it wouldn't be remotely near its potential.
Thoughts, questions, & critical feedback are all encouraged. Thank you for your time. I hope to one day meet you at the top of the hill so I can whoop your ass 😉

2024.05.16 04:03 patmanblu3 Very weird issue with my LG OLED 27GR95QE-B

I have this issue where my monitor goes black ONLY in Overwatch and never mid game, ONLY in the menu. It's also very random ( some days I can play for hours and today it happened after 2 matches )
The screen goes black, I have to turn off the monitor with the remote because the monitor OSD doesn't come up, I can still hear Overwatch running. The only way to fix it is to unplug the power cord and plug it back in ( which I don't like to do even if i manage to turn off the monitor with the remote )
PC temps seem fine (I monitor them )
I play a lot of different pc games and it has never happened in anything else.
Energy saving settings are mostly off except for deep sleep mode which I will try turning off in-case its causing some issue with Overwatch but that's the only thing I can think of. It's just so odd because its game specific and seems to affect the monitor in a weird way. I've had it happened since I purchased the monitor.
I'm wondering If someone has run into a similar issue or has any ideas to try. I'm also currently working with LG support to trouble shoot.
Still have at least 1 year warrant left in June so I'm taking the time for now to try to figure this out.

2024.05.15 22:49 IllustriousPickles Looking for an old go kart arena toy set. Been digging deep but no luck so far.

This would've been from 2000-2002.
It had two go-karts you would rev up on a battery powered "charger," which you would operate by setting the kart on top and squeezing handles on the side. The arena featured a slanted track with large turns on the outer edge, and I believe a relatively wide loop-de-loop in the middle.
The karts themselves were green and blue, with the blue one having a driver with a shark-themed helmet. I don't recall what the green one had. They both had rather exaggerated fake exhausts. They had some kind of lever on the bottom, which was either a geaspeed selector or more likely had something to do with making the karts pivot when placed in the arena rather than on the track.
They were not slot cars nor were they remote-controlled.
Sadly I'm not sure who manufactured this, but I don't recall it being Hot Wheels related.
Here's a quick visual aid for anybody who might recognize it (which hopefully doesn't go against the spirit of the no-sketches rule).
