The Benefits of Investing in Gold: Why It’s a Good Decision

The Benefits of Investing in Gold: Why It’s a Good Decision
In the vast universe of investment opportunities, gold stands out not just for its glitter but for its enduring value and historical significance. The allure of gold has not diminished over the centuries; instead, it has woven itself into the fabric of financial stability and wealth preservation. Herein, we delve into why investing in gold is not only a prudent decision but one that could safeguard your financial future in ways that other assets cannot.
Why Investing in Gold is a Good Decision
The decision to include gold in one’s investment portfolio is driven by several compelling factors. First and foremost, gold is universally recognized for its intrinsic value. Unlike paper currency, whose value can be eroded by inflation or government policies, gold’s worth is not tied to the performance of a particular economy. This unique characteristic makes it a sought-after asset for those looking to preserve their wealth over time.
Moreover, the resilience of gold becomes particularly evident during periods of market volatility. When stocks and bonds are buffeted by the storms of financial markets, gold often remains a beacon of stability. Its price movements are not directly correlated with those of other assets, making it an excellent tool for diversification. This uncorrelated behavior is a testament to gold’s standing as a safe haven in times of economic uncertainty.
Lastly, the liquidity of gold is another factor that contributes to its attractiveness as an investment. Gold can be easily bought or sold in various forms, from physical bars and coins to gold-backed exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This ease of transaction ensures that investors can quickly adjust their positions in response to changing economic conditions, enhancing gold’s appeal as a versatile asset.

Historical Performance of Gold as an Investment
The historical performance of gold is a testament to its enduring value and appeal as an investment. Over the centuries, gold has not only preserved wealth but, in many instances, has significantly appreciated in value. This long-term appreciation is particularly notable when compared to other assets that may depreciate due to technological advancements or changes in consumer preferences.
During periods of high inflation, gold has historically outperformed other investments. Its value tends to rise when the purchasing power of fiat currencies declines, thereby providing a hedge against inflation. This characteristic was notably evident during the 1970s, a decade marked by high inflation, during which gold prices surged.
Furthermore, gold’s performance during economic downturns has reinforced its reputation as a safe haven. In the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, for example, investors flocked to gold, driving up its price. This flight to safety highlighted gold’s role as a stabilizing force amidst economic turmoil.
Hedge Against Inflation and Economic Downturns
One of the most compelling reasons to invest in gold is its ability to act as a hedge against inflation and economic downturns. Inflation erodes the purchasing power of money, diminishing the real value of cash holdings and fixed-income investments such as bonds. Gold, however, maintains its purchasing power over the long term. As the cost of goods and services increases, so does the price of gold, thereby preserving the value of investors’ holdings.
In addition to its inflation-hedging properties, gold offers protection during economic downturns. During such times, investors often lose confidence in traditional assets like stocks and bonds. The uncertainty that pervades financial markets during recessions drives investors toward safer assets, and gold is frequently the beneficiary of this shift in sentiment. Its ability to maintain value when other assets are declining is a crucial reason why gold is considered a cornerstone of a well-diversified portfolio.

Diversification in Your Investment Portfolio
Diversification is a fundamental principle of investing aimed at reducing risk. By spreading investments across different asset classes, investors can mitigate the impact of a poor performance by any single asset. Gold plays a vital role in this diversification strategy due to its low correlation with other financial assets.
Including gold in a portfolio can reduce volatility and improve returns over the long term. Studies have shown that portfolios containing a mix of stocks, bonds, and gold have outperformed those without gold, particularly during times of market stress. This diversification benefit is a key reason why financial advisors often recommend allocating a portion of an investment portfolio to gold.
Tangible Value and Stability of Gold
Gold’s tangible nature is another factor that contributes to its appeal as an investment. Unlike digital assets or paper money, gold is a physical substance that has been valued by human societies for millennia. This tangible value provides a sense of security and permanence that is unmatched by many other investments.
The stability of gold is also reflected in its supply. Gold cannot be produced at the same pace as paper money or digital currencies, which central banks can create at will. The limited supply of gold, combined with its enduring demand, underpins its value and makes it a stable investment over the long term.
Protection Against Currency Devaluation
Currency devaluation is a risk that affects all investors, regardless of the currency in which they hold their assets. When a currency loses value, it takes more units of that currency to purchase the same amount of goods or services. Gold offers protection against this risk because it is priced in currency terms. As the value of a currency declines, the price of gold in that currency tends to rise, preserving the purchasing power of investors’ holdings.
This protection is especially valuable in countries with volatile currencies or those prone to inflationary pressures. For investors in such environments, gold can serve as a safe haven, protecting against the adverse effects of currency devaluation.
Tax Advantages of Investing in Gold
Investing in gold can offer certain tax advantages, depending on the jurisdiction and the form of gold investment. For example, some countries do not levy capital gains tax on gold investments, or they may offer favorable tax treatment compared to other assets. These tax benefits can enhance the overall return on gold investments, making it an even more attractive option for investors.
It’s important for investors to consult with a tax advisor to understand the specific tax implications of investing in gold in their country. Taking advantage of these tax benefits can maximize the returns from gold investments and contribute to a more efficient investment strat

Different Ways to Invest in Gold
There are several ways to invest in gold, each with its own set of advantages and considerations. Physical gold, in the form of bars or coins, is a popular option for its tangible value and direct ownership. However, it requires secure storage and insurance, which can incur additional costs.
Gold ETFs and mutual funds offer a more convenient way to invest in gold without the need for physical storage. These financial instruments are traded on stock exchanges and are backed by physical gold or gold futures contracts. They provide liquidity and ease of trading but may come with management fees.
Gold mining stocks and mutual funds are another avenue for gold investment. These options involve investing in companies that mine gold, offering potential for dividends and capital appreciation. However, they also carry risks related to the performance of individual companies and the mining sector as a whole.
Risks and Considerations of Investing in Gold
While gold offers many benefits as an investment, there are also risks and considerations that investors should be aware of. The price of gold can be volatile in the short term, driven by factors such as currency fluctuations, interest rates, and geopolitical events. This volatility requires a long-term perspective and a tolerance for price fluctuations.
Additionally, investing in physical gold involves costs for storage and insurance, which can erode returns. Investors should carefully consider these costs and weigh them against the benefits of holding physical gold.
Finally, it’s important to recognize that gold does not produce income, such as dividends or interest, which some investors may seek from their investments. This lack of income should be considered in the context of an overall investment strategy and financial goals.
Conclusion: Is Investing in Gold Right for You?
Investing in gold offers a range of benefits, including diversification, protection against inflation and currency devaluation, and stability in times of economic uncertainty. However, like any investment, it also comes with risks and considerations that must be carefully evaluated.
For those seeking to preserve wealth and reduce risk in their investment portfolio, gold can be an excellent choice. Its historical performance, tangible value, and role as a hedge against economic downturns make it a compelling option for many investors.
Ultimately, whether investing in gold is right for you depends on your financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment strategy. By carefully considering these factors, you can make an informed decision about including gold in your investment portfolio.

2024.05.21 16:35 cinnamonbagel82 Mom of newly diagnosed kid rant

My son (12M) was diagnosed T1D in early April, so we've only been battling this for 6 weeks and it's been a hell of a rollercoaster. Last night I made frozen pizza and swear I calculated his insulin correctly, but it's as if he rec'd nothing. He was at 300 2 hrs after finishing eating, trending up, so I gave him 1 unit to see if maybe he just needed a small bolus. At midnight he was 350 and still trending up, so I gave him a correction dose minus the 1 unit from earlier and called Endo. Endo never called me back, but he started trending down, so I went to bed. At 3am he dropped to 90, but was steady and still within normal range. At 5am he was back in the 150s. At 6am he was in the 170s, but trending down, and throwing up, can't keep anything down. No ketones in his urine. At 7:30am he was back at 200, so I gave a correction. Once he was back in range, he said he didn't feel nauseous anymore and has been sleeping ever since.
To add insult to injury - just got a letter from insurance saying they aren't going to cover his hospital stay from when he was diagnosed. So now I have to start the appeal process. Any suggestions?
I just hate all of this.

2024.05.21 15:01 FelicitySmoak_ Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 15

Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 15
Trial Day 15
Katherine, Rebbie and Trent Jackson are at court.
LA Times reported that the Jacksons offered a settlement.
Kevin Boyle , a lawyer for Katherine Jackson and Michael's kids , said they offered to settle the lawsuit against AEG, but that they never got an answer. Kevin Boyle said the family made the offers in January & March. Boyle would not provide details but said AEG's insurance would have paid, which means they could have settled the case without them paying a dime of their money. He said AEG has never offered to settle & they haven't apologized.
Marvin Putnam, an attorney for AEG, said it was inappropriate to discuss settlement discussions:
"We don't settle matters that are utterly baseless. We believe that is the case in this matter. I can't see why we would consider a settlement as anything other than a shakedown"
CNN Reports there was a snack controversy during trial: AEG lawyers gave a bag of peppermint candy to the bailiff to hand out to the jury this week. Even Katherine Jackson enjoyed the treat but Jackson's lawyer raised an objection, suggesting jurors might be influenced if they realized the source of the sweets. A compromise was reached. Each side can provide snacks for jurors, but they'll be placed at the bailiff's desk before jurors enter court so they have no clue who brought it.
Shawn Trell Testimony
Jackson direct
AEG Live General Counsel, Shawn Trell, told jurors that he had forgotten that Kenny Ortega was working under a signed contract.
Trell said he met with his attorneys last night and reviewed one doc -- Kenny Ortega's contract.
"He had a written contract," Trell said. "I remember the email dynamic. I'm not too proud to admit that I didn't recall the cover contract," Trell said he was changing his previous testimony to add that Ortega had a written contract, not only emails between him and AEG
Next topic was Insurance: Cancellation/Non-Appearance/Sickness. Trell said he started working on insurance for the tour in November of 2008. Panish showed several chains of emails where the parties talked about the insurance for the tour
Email from Bob Taylor insurance broker to Trell on 1/7/09:
"Prior to speaking with carriers we ask the artist to attend medical with a doctor...A full medical with both blood/urine tests. The doctor also wants to review the medical records over the last 5 years to ensure full disclosure. Insurers require further medical examination to be carried out by their nominated doctor. They may restrict illness coverage or death from illness coverage until this examination has taken place"
Email from 4/30/09 - Wooley to Trell :
"We have no coverage against Michael sickness unless and until he submits to another medical in London
Email from 5/28/09 - Trell to Taylor:
"We really need to get that medical done"
Email from 6/23/09 - Trell to Taylor :
"Any update on the availability of Term insurance?" (life insurance)
Trell said if they secured life insurance, they would get money if Michael died.
"We would get the money owed to us, yes," Trell testified.
Trell also said he continued discussions with an insurance broker about additional coverage to recoup AEG Live's investment if the tour had to be canceled.
Email from 6/24/09 -Taylor to Trell :
"Insurers have refused to move on this. Huge amount of speculation in the media regarding artist's health. They feel if they're to consider providing illness to cover this particular artist, they must have very through medical report"
Email from 6/25/09 - Gongaware to Taylor :
"If we don't get sickness coverage, we are dropping this policy"
Email from 6/25/09 - Taylor to Gongaware :
"The consultation in London is critical. The doctor is holding the afternoon of the 6th July open at Harley St. But keep in mind the visit could take 2 hours plus"
Next topic: Budget/Costs. Panish showed an email from AEG's Rick Webking to Michael's estate with 1st report of artist advances/expenses. This was a letter sent to the estate containing the expenses incurred, Trell said.
"It seems to me we submitted this report for their review, I don't see any request for payment," Trell said.
Trell said he spoke with Randy Phillips and Paul Gongaware about Michael's physical condition prior to coming to testify.
"I had heard about rehearsals in which Mr. Jackson was fantastic," Trell said
Trell said he's aware of email from Ortega saying doctor was not allowing Michael to attend rehearsal on June 14, 2009.
"I was aware of the doctor not allowing him to attend rehearsal," Trell said
Email from 6/17/09 from Phillips:
"...Ortega, Gongaware, Dileo, and his doctor Conrad from Vegas and I have an intervention with him to get him to focus and come to rehearsal"
Email from 6/17/09 from Gongaware to Phillip's assistant:
"We need a physical therapist and a nutritionist"
Email from Production Manager - Gongaware/Phillips on 6/19/09 :
"Paul/Randy I'm not bring a drama queen here. Kenny asked me to notify you both Michael was sent home without stepping foot on stage. He was a basket case and Kenny was concerned he would embarrass himself on stage, or worse yet, be hurt. The company is rehearsing right now, but the DOUBT is pervasive"
Email from Randy Phillips to Tim Leiweke on 6/19/09 :
"We have a huge problem here."
"I think he recognized there was a problem on the 19th," Trell said. "I would take it seriously, as I believe Mr. Phillips did."
Trell agreed with a statement by plaintiff's attorney, Brian Panish, that company executives knew by then there was a "deep issue" with Jackson
Does Trell consider that exchange a "red flag" that AEG Live should have noticed, Panish asked.
"I would take it seriously, as I believe Mr. Phillips did," Trell answered. "I don't know I would use the word 'red flag'
One of the emails shown to the jury was from Jackson estate co-executor John Branca, sent 5 days before Jackson's death & marked 'confidential':
"I have the right therapist/spiritual advisosubstance abuse counselor who could help (recently helped Mike Tyson get sober and paroled) Do we know whether there is a substance issue involved (perhaps better discussed on the phone)
The email was sent the same day that a meeting was held at Jackson's home with Murray. No further info given to jury.
Trell said Mr. Phillips never told him about this email
Email from Ortega to Randy Phillips on 6/20/09: (chain of emails)
"I honestly don't think he is ready for this based on his continued physical weakening and deepening emotional state"
Trell said he didn't see these emails. He said he spoke with Randy Phillips about Phillips' perception of Michael, in order to prepare for testifying, but not about specific emails. Trell has been designated as the most qualified person to speak on behalf of AEG
Email from Phillips to Gongaware on 6/20/09 at 1:52 am :
"Tim and I are going to see him tomorrow, however, I'm not sure what the problem is Chemical or Physiological?"
From Gongaware to Phillips, on 6/20/09 at 5:59 am :
"Take the doctor with you. Why wasn't he there last night?"
From Phillips to Gongaware, on 6/20/09 at 2:01 pm :
"He is not a psychiatrist so I'm not sure how effective he can be at this point obviously, getting him there is not the issue. It is much deeper"
Trell said Randy Phillips went to a handful of rehearsals, three at the Forum and two at Staples Center. The head of the marketing department attended rehearsal on June 23, 2009.
"She was blown away by it," Trell testified.
He said he was unaware of issues with Jackson at rehearsals.
"I knew of no problems with Michael Jackson at all",Trell testified.
Trell said he never saw the emails from Phillips directing people to exclude images from This Is It of Michael looking "skeletal" while rehearsing.
"What were his observations of Michael's physical condition during rehearsal," Trell said. "I asked for his (Phillips) personal opinion."
Next line of questioning is about human resources and background checks. Trell said they can be valuable and useful tools when hiring. Background check costs around $40 to $125. Trell said AEG Live could afford this fee. "We don't do background checks on independent contractors," Trell said. Trell said he was involved in the hiring by AEG Live for the This Is It tour. His department was responsible for retaining independent contractors. Trell said he is not familiar with background check process for hiring.
"I am not familiar with the process of doing background checks," Trell said. "No training."

Panish: "There was no hiring criteria for the This Is It tour, correct?"
Trell: "Not to my knowledge"
Trell testified that when it comes to independent contractors, they have either worked with the artists, AEG or known in the industry. Trell agreed that no background check was done on anyone working on the This Is It tour. AEG Live General Counsel Shawn Trell told jurors that no legal or financial checks were done involving Conrad Murray or anyone else who worked as an independent contractor on the This Is It shows.
Depending on the nature of the position, a background could be done, Trell said, like for potential employees in the financial area. Trell said he thought a background check would be appropriate for people working in financial roles, but not tour personnel who weren't employees of AEG
As to independent contractors, Trell said there's no supervision and monitoring like there's for employees
Panish: "You don't do anything to check into background, supervise or protect the artist?"
Trell: "No, safety is a concern"
Trell said that AEG did not hire Murray, that the doctor was like many independent contractors,
"When they leave the environment, what they do on their own time is their own business"
Trell testified he doesn't believe the artist is more at risk because AEG Live doesn't do background checks
"We did nothing to monitor Dr. Murray," Trell said. "We did not monitor whatever it was that he was doing, no."
"It called for Michael Jackson being able to terminate Dr. Murray at will," Trell said about the contract. "If the concerts didn't go forward, and he was terminated under this provision, Dr. Murray would not be paid going forward," Trell explained
As to Dr Murray being under dire financial straits, Trell said that he doesn't know if he agrees with it, everyone's perception is different
Trell: "I certainly wasn't aware of it at the time"
Panish: "Because you didn't check, right?"
Trell: "That's right"
"I don't think conflict of interests are a good thing, and we would want to prevent it," Trell said
Email from Kathy Jorie to Shawn Trell on 6/24/09 at 12:54 am:
Subject: Revised agreement with GCA Holdings/Dr. MurrayIt had two attachments Attachments: Revised Michael Jackson -AEG GCA Holdings Murray Agreement 6-18-09 Final MJ -- AEG GCA Holdings Agreement (Dr. Murray) 6-23-09
Email chain from 6/23/09, 5:39pm from Jorrie to Wooley, Murray
Subject: RE: Michael Jackson - Revised Agreement with GCA Holdings/Dr. Murray Email:
"I have redlined the Word version so that you can see all of the revisions. In addition, I've attached clean PDF version for execution" (The email says that if Dr. Murray approved it, he was to print it, sign and send it back to Jorrie)

Panish: "Did Ms. Jorrie call this contract a draft?"
Trell: "She called it a Final Version"
"Every document is a draft until it is executed," Trell said.
Panish showed emails exchanged among AEG executives that contained drafts of Murray's contract. Although Murray had signed a contract with the company, neither Jackson nor anyone from AEG had added their signatures. Trell testified that a copy of the contract had never been sent to Jackson
With Trell on the stand, Panish played part of an interview that AEG Live President Randy Phillips gave to Sky News television soon after Michael's death.
"This guy was willing to leave his practice for a very large sum of money, so we hired him," Phillips said.
Panish also showed jurors an e-mail between AEG lawyers suggesting that Phillips told other interviewers AEG Live "hired" Murray.
Panish: "Isn't it true that Randy Phillips made numerous comments that AEG Live hired Dr. Murray?"
Trell: "I know he has made that statement"
Panish said AEG higher-ups became concerned after Phillips made such admission. Trell said he didn't know if that was true. Bruce Black is the General Counsel for parent company of AEG and AEG Live. Michael Roth is AEG's media relations
Email from Kathy Jorrie to Bruce Black and Michael Roth on 8/25/09:
Subject: AEG Live president says AEG Live hired Dr. Conrad Murray
Panish shows Trell a deposition, under oath, given by insurance broker Bob Taylor on another case. Trell said he has never seen or read it. Trell denied having a telephone conversation with Mr. Taylor where Trell asked him if a doctor's compensation was covered in the insurance.
Panish: "Does that refresh your recollection that AEG was employing Dr. Murray?"
Trell: "Mr. Taylor has this completely wrong"
After lunch break, Brian Panish asked if Shawn Trell wanted to change anything else in his testimony, to which he said "No"
Bruce Black, attorney for Anschutz, was present in the meeting with LAPD. Trell met with the police on 1/12/10. Trell told the police that day that Dr. Murray would receive $150,000 compensation per month. Trell also said that Dr. Murray requested and AEG would provide necessary medical equipment and a nurse. More than five months after Jackson's death, Trell said, he informed LAPD detectives that Murray initially requested $5 million to join the tour but eventually agreed to a salary of $150,000 a month for 10 months.
Panish: "As far as you know, all the agreements written for TII tour was done under AEG Live Productions, right?"
Trell: "Yes"
Panish: "Was Dr. Murray trying to help AEG get insurance?"
Trell: "The policy was in both names, so he was helping both parties"
Trell said Dennis Hawk, who represented Michael, was in touch with Taylor regarding the insurance
Panish: "As of June 2009, you don't even know whether Mr. Jackson had a personal manager
working for him, right?"
Trell: "Well, my understanding at the time there were a couple of people acting in that capacity"
Email on 6/2/09 from Randy Phillips to Jeff Wald:
"Jeff, remember getting Michael to focus is not the easiest thing in the world and we still have no lawyer, business manager, or, even real manager in place. It is a nightmare!"
Trell said the only time he saw an artist's signature required to retain an independent contractor was for Dr. Murray. Trell said his understanding was that Dr. Murray worked for Michael for 3 years; didn't know how many times MJ saw Dr. Murray.
"I've never spoken with Dr. Murray ever. And I met/spoke with Mr. Jackson once," Trell said.

"He was a significant expense," Trell testified about Dr. Murray.
Trell said AEG Live didn't do anything to check Dr. Murray's competency as doctor, other than checking his physician license. Trell said AEG didn't do anything to determine Dr. Murray's financial conditions in 2009.
Jury was shown an email that Phillips sent to Kenny Ortega on night of June 20, 2009. It was email urging Ortega to stand down.
Email on 6/20/09 Phillips to Ortega :
"Kenny it's critical that neither you, me, anyone around this show become amateur psychiatrist/physicians. I had a lengthy conversation with Dr. Murray, who I am gaining immense respect for as I get to deal with him more. He said that Michael is not only physically equipped to perform & discouraging him to will hasten his decline instead of stopping it. Dr. Murray also reiterated that he is mentally able to and was speaking to me from the house where he had spent the morning with Michael. This doctor is extremely successful (we check everyone out) and does not need this gig so he is totally unbiased and ethical"
Panish asked Trell whether Phillips "characterization to Ortega, given no background check was done, was a lie". Trell responded that he didn't know what Phillips knew or was thinking when he wrote that email to Ortega. Trell also said he expected Randy Phillips to testify at some point during the trial, so he could address the email himself
Panish then asked Trell, "Sir, you never checked out one single thing about Dr. Murray -- you've already told me that, correct?"
"As of the date of the email, that would've been correct",Trell said.
When pressed by Panish, Trell said that Phillips' statement that Murray had been checked out, along with the executive's claim that the doctor 'does not need this gig' were inaccurate.
"I don't know where Randy's understanding or impression comes from", Trell said.
Trell testified that Phillips might have been "misinformed" or simply was stating his impression of the Las Vegas cardiologist
Panish: "But no one at AEG checked Dr. Murray to see if he was successful or not, isn't that true?"
Trell: "Yes"
Panish then asked several pointed questions about whether Shawn Trell agreed with Phillips telling Ortega they'd checked Murray out. One of Panish's questions was whether Trell thought Phillips' email was 'acceptable conduct'
Panish called Phillips' statement "a flat out lie" and asked Trell whether he agreed with it or if it signified how AEG did business. Trell said he didn't know what Phillips thought he knew when he wrote the message.
"I know this statement is not accurate, but you'd have to speak with Mr. Phillips about what he thought or meant in saying it," Trell said.

Panish: "That's a flat out lie, isn't it sir?"
Trell: "I don't know what Mr. Phillips intended to say, this should be a question to him"
Panish: "You don't know if he was successful or facing bankruptcy, did you?"
Trell: "No"
Trell: "I know the statement is not accurate. You have to speak with Mr. Phillips about what he meant to say"
Panish: "Do you agree with the CEO of your company making untrue statements?"
Trell: "I don't know that he didn't know it wasn't true when he said it"
Trell said Phillips never told him that he checked Dr. Murray out. As to reference in Phillips' email about Dr. Murray being unbiased, ethical, not needing this gig, Trell said it was Phillips' impressions. He said AEG typically only runs background checks on candidates applying for full-time jobs with AEG, not independent contractors.
Panish: "Isn't it true AEG Live does not do background check on independent contractors?"
Trell: "That's true"
Trell said that no one from AEG interviewed Dr. Murray because he was an independent contractor.
"Did anyone from AEG ever at any time interview Dr. Murray", asked Brian Panish
"No", Trell replied.
Panish showed a document used by AEG entitled "Disclosure and Authorization to Conduct Background Check". Doc is used for employment, promotion, retention, contingent or the rate staffing, consulting, sub-contract work, or volunteer work. Panish asked if there was any reason why Dr. Murray was not given a background check.
"He wasn't an employee, he wasn't applying for a full time position with the company," Trell explained.
Trell said theoretically they could've asked to check Dr. Murray's background and credit.
AEG Cross
Jessica Bina began her examination by showing the letter submitted by AEG's CFO to the Estate of Michael Jackson for their review. She asked Shawn Trell about the estimate presented to Jackson's estate that included Murray's $300k fees. She asked why it was prepared. Shawn Trell said it was done at the request of the estate. He said Jackson's estate wanted to know state of tour finances when Jackson died. Trell said the report was requested by the Estate after a series of meetings after Michael's death.
"The purpose of the meeting was to wind up the business affairs of the tour due to Michael's death", Trell said. "It was my understating in June Tohme was back in the picture in some capacity. I'm not sure which, Mr. DiLeo was in it too," Trell said
Bina: "Is there any request for payment?"
Trell: "No, there's no demand for payment, it's for review"
Stebbins Bina asked about the inclusion of Murray's fee in the document. Bina showed the report that was attached to the letter. Murray's fee on the document had a footnote. Trell read what that footnote said, and explained why estate wasn't asked for Murray's fee. Next to "Management Medical" there's a reference to footnote 3.
Note 3: 'Contract is not signed by Michael Jackson and such signature was condition precedent to any payment obligation' - Footnote on Murray fee.
Trell testified Webking, the CFO for AEG, did not ask Michael's Estate for payment of Dr. Murray's salary
"You testified you were somewhat confused (by the inclusion of the $300,000)?", Bina asked Trell as she projected the list, dated July 17, 2009, on a screen for jurors.
"Do you see there's something in parentheses?', Stebbins Bina asked, zooming in to blow up a footnote from AEG CFO Frederick Webking that stated Michael Jackson never signed Murray's contract, so its terms were not enforceable.
"Is Mr. Webking asking the estate to pay?", Stebbins Bina asked Trell. "No", he replied, explaining that upon reflection he believed Mr. Webking was just being 'thorough' by including the $300,000 as a budgeted cost.
"Did Mr. Webking make a mistake as you thought yesterday?",she asked.
"No, he did not", Trell answered
Second report made to the Estate on 9/18/09, there was no amount next to management medical. Stebbins Bina then showed a Sept. 2009 report of This Is It's finances to Michael Jackson's estate. Murray's fee is not listed in that document
Trell went through his job description with AEG. He said he has five lawyers in his department and has worked on thousands of agreements. Trell explained what PMK is -- Person Most Knowledgeable, identified by the company to testify on its behalf. Trell said he didn't know about all the topics he was designated, so he had to do some studying and interviews with people
As to Ortega's contract, Trell said he was aware of a string of emails being at least a part of the original agreement with Kenny.
"When we were done here yesterday, I looked at Kenny Ortega's original agreement," Trell said.
Trell noted he hadn't looked at Ortega's agreement since it was entered into in 2009. Before the afternoon break, Trell and jury were shown Kenny Ortega's tour agreement. It was signed in April 2009. The agreement was three pages of legalese, with several pages of emails attached that confirmed the terms. The first three pages included some paragraphs that described who owned the rights to This Is It content. A large number of emails are part of the agreement as exhibits. Trell said he recalled the emails exchange and admitted again not being proud of forgetting the cover contract portion. Bina showed Ortega's executed contract with everyone's signature on it. Trell said Kenny Ortega was paid after his contract was signed.
Trell, Phillips and Kathy Jorrie were involved in drafting and negotiating the contract with Michael Jackson. For MJ, Trell said Dr. Tohme Tohme and attorneys Dennis Hawk and Peter Lopez represented him. He said there were multiple drafts.
"It's my understanding they were talking to, or at least receiving offers from, a competitive of ours, Live Nation," Trell said.
Trell also said that before signing an agreement with AEG, Jackson had been considering a tour offer from its main competitor, Live Nation.
Bina showed the jury the final tour agreement. Trell said he went to MJ's home at Carolwood to sign it. Upon arrival, Trell said Mr. Jackson got up from where he was seated, and said 'Hi, welcome, I'm Michael." Trell said it was pretty funny, since he was a very distinct person. Trell said they shook hands, he had a good firm handshake and his voice was not what people think
"He popped up, came over, introduced himself, was very cordial, there was a real positive energy, good vibe in the room," Trell said. "He seemed genuinely enthused," Trell added. "He had the contract in front of him, said he read every page, seemed very enthused." Trell said they all signed it and Mr. Jackson was really keen on the 3-D stuff, that he was already down the road in his mind. "I was probably there just a little less than an hour. And that was the only time I met him," Trell recalled.
Bina discussed the contract for the tour agreement:
A first class performance by Artist at each show on each of the approved itineraries. Contract:
Artist shall perform no less than 80 minutes at each show, and the maximum show length for each show shall be 3.5 hours. Artist shall approve a sufficient number of shows on itineraries proposed by promoter or producer as to recoup the advances made.
Trell said compensation was agreed on 90-10 split. Artist received 90% of what's defined contingent compensation.
Trell explained to jury how concerts get paid for. One scenario is artist pays for production up front. A second scenario is that the promoter gives artist an advance, and then they use the money to put together the show. The third option, Trell said, is the artist pays someone like AEG Live to produce and promote the show, with costs to come out of their pay. Trell called the second and third option like an interest-free loan. In Jackson's case, AEG agreed to a 90/10 split of show's proceeds. Jackson would have received the 90% portion, Trell said. Jackson was also on the hook for a 5% production fee
AEG Live was promoter & producer.
"We advanced the money necessary to mount the tour," Trell explained. "It's interest free money".
Trell testified that Jackson's advance, which covered his $100,000-a-month rent on his mansion and a $3-million payment to settle a lawsuit that would free up his performance rights, was considered a loan to be paid back to AEG.
Part of the advance was to pay off the settlement agreement of $3 million in London court. The underlying dispute was that a company owned the rights for Jackson's live performance.
"The rights needed to be freed up," Trell said.
The advances were to be paid back to AEG Live before the split of revenue. Production Advances were capped to $7.5 million. Contract:
Artist was responsible for all the production costs in excess of the cap and had to reimburse promoter.
"Michael Jackson was known to have very elaborate productions," Trell said. "Production values can get significant, for lack of a better word, it really depends on how many bells and whistles they want," Trell said.
Trell said AEG would not advance money without the artist requesting it.
Trell said it's not only typical and customary, but standard and artist needs to secure either non-appearance or cancellation insurance. Their interest in the policy, Trell said, was to cover the advances and production costs incurred with the production of the show.
"If the were no obligations to AEG, the payout would go back to the artist", Trell explained, "It just recoups our loan made to the artist."
Trell was also asked about elements of tour insurance policies and an agreement with former manager Tohme Tohme. Jackson's contract called for him to represent to AEG that he didn't have any health conditions that would keep him from performing.
Contract:
Artistco hereby represents and warrants that artist does not possess any known health conditions, injuries or ailments that would reasonable be expected to interfere with Artist's first class performance at each of the shows during the term
Oh Tohme's $100k per month agreement, Trell was shown a January contract that Jackson signed to pay that amount. However, Trell said Tohme's agreement was predicated on Jackson getting tour cancellation insurance by a certain date. Deadline passed and by that point Tohme was no longer Jackson's manager, so he wasn't entitled to be paid his monthly fee.
January 24, 2009 -- agreement entered with Dr. Tohme Tohme. Trell said Michael was involved and signed this agreement. "This agreement was entered into January 26, Trell testified.
"There are conditions that needed to be met before any payment could be made."
One of the the conditions was placement of non-appearance insurance, Trell said. That placement was done in late April, early May. In May, AEG received letter from MJ saying Tohme didn't rep him anymore.
"No payments were ever made under this agreement," Trell explained.

2024.05.21 13:00 Neowza Weekly Advocacy Post

Below you'll find information and links to help advocate for Reproductive Freedoms and Abortion care in Canada and emerging policy issues with the Reddit platform. This is a recurring post and will be periodically updated as needed. Feel free to post additional information and discussions in the comments.
Advocating for Abortion Care in Canada:
Reference: Policy Options, via the Institute for Research on Public Policy and Action Canada for Sexual Health & Rights
What can you do to improve access to abortion care in Canada?
  1. Listen, research and learn. This is always the first step to understand any problem.
  2. Send a letter to your MP and MPP. Tell them that access to abortion care is important and how difficult it can be to access it in your province. Urge them to prevent anti-choice groups and CPCs from receiving charitable status, and to revoke the charitable status from CPCs that already have it. Encourage them to include reasonable reimbursement for travel costs related to receiving medical care when it is not available in your community. And push them to pass Safe Access Zone Legislation to protect patients, practitioners and their staff from anti-choice harassment and intimidation.
  3. Give a donation to a pro-choice charitable organization of your choice. Remember, if you give a total of $201 CDN or more to Canadian charitable organizations, you'll get a credit of 29% of your total annual donations on your income taxes (for those that file Canadian Income Taxes, only).
  4. Sign up for the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada Newsletter. https://www.arcc-cdac.ca/
  5. Participate in local marches and rallys in support of access to abortion care.
  6. Spread the Word. Tell your friends and family. Encourage them to research, listen and learn. Encourage them to contact their MPP and MPs.
  7. If you work in a Doctor's office or as a family physician, consider incorporating Mifegymiso into your practice to ensure patients have timely access to this essential service. If you are a Doctor, or studying to be one, consider opening an Abortion Care practice when you are licensed and qualified to do so, especially in rural areas where there are a lack of options.
  8. If you work in politics, consider proposing legislation that will ensure safe access zones for abortion care providers and their clients and covering reasonable travel costs for constituents when medical care is not available in their community.
  9. If you are a journalist or work in media, consider preparing pieces sharing the difficulty Canadians can have accessing medical care such as abortions.
  10. If you work in the area of Not For Profit/Advocacy, consider partnering with a Pro-choice organization and helping them spread information and lobby for improving access to abortion care for Canadians.
  11. If you know someone who needs abortion care, consider giving them a ride to a clinic, helping them access the advice and care they need, and provide non-judgemental support.
  12. Ensure persons of First Nations, Metis and Inuit heritage know about Jordan's Principle, which ensures that First Nations children (which includes people who can become pregnant under the age of 18) can access the products, services and supports they need, when they need them. https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1568396042341/1568396159824

Emerging Policy Issues with Reddit
On July 1, 2023, Reddit raised the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that killed every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader. This policy change meant that mobile users would have a lesser experience browsing Reddit, users with visual difficulties could not browse reddit as screenreaders are not compatible with the official Reddit app, and mods lost tools that they depend on to keep communities on-topic and spam-free. Many subreddits protested this change in June 2023, and the Reddit admins enforced draconian measures such as removing and replacing mods who privatized their subreddits in protest of this policy change.
On September 12, 2023, Reddit will eliminate reddit coins, including removing all accumulated coins, a perk that Reddit Premium users pay for every month. Coins are used to reward comments and posts by showing your appreciation for the effort. Some reddit coins offer the ability to use reddit without ads.
In March 2024, Reddit had an IPO (Initial Public Offering), and the founder and current CEO, as well as the COO have sold $500,000 of their shares. How does this effect you? Reddit may face pressure to increase revenues to attract investors. This could lead to more ads or new monetization features. There could also be changes to the platform to attract a wider user base, such as bans and censorship on certain topics or words and control over content to appease more conservative shareholders or users.
What can you do to protest policy changes at Reddit?
  1. Listen, research and learn. Check /modcoord for updates
  2. Cancel your Reddit Premium membership
  3. Participate in subreddit led protests
  4. Look for other forums to patronize. We have a forum on Discord called Auntie Network Canada. Message the mods here for an invite link to the Discord group.
  5. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit. Leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app.

2024.05.21 07:55 MelodysSafePlace i've spent the last 2 years trying to get on disability just for it to be getting fully denied soon

i applied for disability in July of 2022 (i have autism and also something physically wrong with my knee but my doctor hasn't figured out what it actually is yet.)
after over a year of going back and forth with the stupid disability place and them sending me packets upon packets or the stupidest questions and me filling them out and sending it back and phone calls and a meeting with a psychiatrist and all kinds of jumping through hoops, they denied it. my autism was diagnosed when i was a toddler and they told me i most likely won't get disability without an updated diagnosis, like they think autism is just something i can outgrow or something.
well, the whole time I've been dealing with them I've also been trying to get refered somewhere to get an updated autism diagnosis but it's very hard to find someone who will diagnose adults, is close enough for me to actually go to (because diagnoses like that usually take multiple appointments), takes my insurance, and doesn't have a 2+ year waiting list. my doctor found me one single place that actually met the criteria (it still had like a 3 year waiting list but beggers cant be choosers) and sent a referral for me but they just never got back to my doctor or me because I also called and asked about it. I've also been doing blood work and x rays and physical therapy and trying really hard to figure out what's wrong with my knee but nothing has come up yet so I'm still just suffering with that.
Well, i appealed the disability thing, they sent it to a judge cause that was the next step, i had a hearing with a judge and a job expert and the judge asked me why i felt like i couldn't work and i literally had a breakdown and cried and told him how i had one job before and it was a super basic job at goodwill working in the back sorting books and not dealing with the public but I still couldn't handle it. I explained how working that job made my knee swell up and be in near constant pain and how the job (working barely 10 hours a week) made me so exhausted that I literally couldn't function outside of work. I would go to work, come home, sleep until my next shift and repeat. I felt like a zombie. The only time I would function was the weekends (barely) and all of that energy and time would be spent on meal prepping for the week so I wouldn't starve because I knew I wouldn't have the energy to make food, and I would do the dishes that piled up all week and sometimes if I had enough energy I would even shower on the weekends. I was so depressed and exhausted and not functioning outside of work at all and one day I woke up at 6 am to my alarm for work and i decided I was either going to quit my job or I was going to off myself and i had the self awareness to quit my job instead of trying to delete myself. and i had such a big meltdown and told all of this to the judge and more. and then i had to sit there, still crying and trying to collect myself while the judge talked with the fricken job expert about how many 'low effort, readily available jobs' HYPOTHETICALLY could exist in my town (this was all based on some bullshit guestimating math equation instead of realistic research into the topic) and then he had the audacity to tell me he "wasn't sure" and "needed time to think about it" just to take 3 fricken months to send me a letter denying my case again because, according to their stupid bullshit, i participated in "substantial gainful activity" (the one job i worked for 3 months and quit so I wouldn't commit unalive) therefore i "can't be disabled."
and it just felt like a spit in the face. like this man really listened to me have a mental breakdown about how the easiest job i could find, working 2-3 hours a day 3 days a week, made me so depressed and nonfunctionial that i was about one more shift away from taking myself off this planet and how my knee hurt so bad i literally just wanted to cut my leg off right above it if it would make the pain stop, and about my autism and how i don't feel like a human i just feel like i was shoved into a human suit and thrown on my ass like 'good luck, figure it out.' and he really listened to all that and still decided that 'im not disabled.' and 'theres plenty of jobs I can do, I just have to find one.' like I'm so stressed and depressed and worried about money constantly that I barely have the capacity to take on anything else, let alone another job that's gonna make me wanna blow my brains out again. I got the letter today and I've cried like 3 times about it because it really feels like I'm already down on the ground and he just decided to kick me with spikey steel toed boots.
I have one more appeal left, where it goes to a disability council (whatever that means) and their options are 1. deny it (most likely to happen) 2. send it back to the judge to 'look at it again' (basically guaranteed for it to get denied) 3. approve it (very very highly unlikely) or 4. throw it out (why is that even an option? That's so stupid) so its like an 80%+ chance of it getting denied from here, and if it gets denied at this point then i have to start all over and the last two years of waiting and hoops and paperwork and crying and pain and feeling like a puppet on display trying to "prove I'm disabled" will just mean literally nothing. And that's a really depressing thing to think about, that the last 2 years of my time and effort and humiliation were basically for nothing.
Besides that, if it gets denied again and I have to start all over, and there's no point in even doing that unless i can get new 'evidence' (like an updated autism diagnosis, which I can't because the one place thats close enough, takes my insurance, and actually tests adults, has a 2+ year waiting list and also won't fricken get back to me about even getting me on that stupid waiting list) and even if I do get an updated diagnosis, they can still deny me disability. I hate this so much.
I feel like a giant brick wall has fallen on top of me. I'm so exhausted mentally and I'm so stressed and I'm so tired of worrying about money and not being able to buy things i need and just barely surviving and I'm just so exhausted of it all. i live with my boyfriend and he has disability and it all goes to the bills and stuff so we have water and power and things, but most times we don't have cleaning supplies or toilet paper or things like that because we don't have the money for it. we only have food because we have foodstamps. I've had my whole wardrobe since highschool and I'm down to 2 pairs of shorts and 3 pairs of leggings because they all rip at the thighs after a while and I'm running out but I don't have money for clothes, y'know? And my boyfriends mom owns the house we live in (she bought it so he wouldn't have to worry about rent and stuff, but then told him he has to pay her back rent for all the years he's been here when he has the money) and she recently told me that when/if i get on disability she expects back rent from me all the way from 2021, which would be like $20,000 at this point and that number just keeps building and it feels like a giant tower looming over me. I don't feel like I'm living, I feel like I'm just barely surviving. And i know there are people out there that have bigger worries then running out of toothpaste and shampoo and not being able to afford more, but like. It's still very real worries I have and I just feel like garbage about it and I'm constantly worried about money and it's just so exhausting.
And to have someone look at me and disect my situation and basically tell me that I'm "not disabled" and basically that I dont deserve money that would help me possibly survive is like a punch in the gut. It hurts, a lot. And I'm so exhausted and upset and frustrated and i really don't know what to do anymore, about any of this stuff.

2024.05.21 07:12 Heatfan239 46 days NC She (Dumper) texted me. Thoughts?

46 days NC She (Dumper) texted me. Thoughts?
46 days since BU. I texted her last Wednesday she just texted me 2 hours ago. Thoughts?
She dumped me on 4/4. The first picture is when I initiated contact last Wednesday on 5/15. Obviously she was short with me so I left it at that.
For context we were still friends on Facebook / followed each other on Instagram and were friends on Snapchat. Last night I went out to a cool rooftop spot with live reggae music and some food trucks. Besides me going shooting with some friends 2 weeks ago this is the only post I’ve done on my Instagram Story. (She didn’t watch the shooting range one but around 4 hours ago 6pm I noticed she watched the rooftop story)
I just pulled up to the gym and seeing that she watched it honestly gave me hopes that she was thinking of me.
She’s been posting bikini pics (showing her boobs off) / posted having drinks at a bar a couple times/ selfie that same night that she made a post out of / went on a boat (found out it was with a girl and her BF she met on Bumble BFF) has slept with 4-5 guys that I know of and messaged a guy that was hitting on her while we were dating 3 days after she dumped me. I haven’t watched any of her stories or reacted to any of her posts (because she used my iPad when we were dating and this whole time I’ve had her Instagram account logged in on it). This was me torturing myself keeping tabs on what she was doing. I saw her complaining to her friends about a guy she wanted to date and how he wanted a relationship but he told her he wanted to do threesome and couple sex. I saw her bragging about how she liked this same guys dick a week before and how when she went on the boat this past weekend a guy was supposed to come but he flaked on her.
So I’m at the gym talking to a buddy of mine about how despite our first interaction where I initiated contact that I’m still contemplating on reaching out to apologize and see if she’d be willing to meet up. He leaves and at 730 (1.5 hours after she saw my rooftop story) she texts me starting with picture 2 and ending with the last picture.
The cruise was something we booked back in January for her Birthday. We both put down a $250 deposit mine on my credit card and hers with her card. On 4/10 I found out she canceled it on 4/5 the day after she dumped me. So I called Royal Caribbean and the supervisor explains the deposit is non refundable and it’s against their policy to go against that rule. I said ok no problem I’ll call my bank. My bank starts the claim dispute process and initiates a temporary credit which is standard with any fraud dispute. I tell them I had no knowledge of the cruise being booked and the $250 charge on my card. (I know I lied but due to the circumstances and her canceling the cruise I wanted to try to get my money back)
So between her monkey branching not going as well like I mentioned above. I think she saw my story that I was out “having fun” and it triggered her so she reached out the only way an avoidant would which was super petty. I think I handled it well despite how she was saying I don’t have time to talk and just to text and being pretty snappy with me. Then when she realized how dumb she looked asking me to give her my $250 I got back she transitioned to oh you never mailed my brush / dryer and hair products. The only thing she asked of me was to return some Amazon packages that she had bought and had delivered to my house for the apartment we were supposed to move into 4/30. It was a spare dryer ($20) and other cheap hair products that she bought to keep at my house since she came here every weekend. Since she didn’t mention it I didn’t bring it up even though after she dumped me I almost texted her about them as an excuse to initiate contact but chose not to.
After the last text about do not contact me again I noticed she had removed me from Snapchat / Instagram / Facebook. I did love this Girl a lot and I messed up big time. Not sure how to proceed or if I even should.
I’m thinking I’ll send her things back, text her a picture of the return label and use this opportunity to send her a closure letter. Ive been wanting to reach out again to make one last effort to meet up, apologize, reconnect and see if she’d reciprocate effort.

Upgraded Millennia to Infinia
I'd like to express my gratitude to this community for sharing knowledge. I upgraded my Millennia Credit Card to Infinia smoothly after encountering some obstacles. Here's my experience to assist others seeking an Infinia upgrade without similar challenges.
I hold a Salary Account with HDFC, with a monthly take-home pay of approximately 2L after deductions (annual Fixed CTC of 31L). Last month, my HDFC RM offered an upgrade to Regalia Gold FYF, which I declined, aiming for a lifetime free (LTF) upgrade or a credit limit increase. The RM suggested a wealth plan from HDFC, promising a DCB Metal LTF with a credit limit boost, offering an 11% IRR with tax-free returns. Believing it to be a secure investment, I agreed. However, upon receiving the policy, I discovered it would yield only 5-6% returns. I promptly canceled it under the free look policy.
Upon learning about potential Infinia eligibility through this community, I contacted a mussu for guidance. They advised me to consider taking ULIP, another Traditional Plan, or Term Insurance with a yearly payment exceeding 1L for 5 years, covering 60-75 years for 2-3CR, to qualify for the Infinia Credit Card. However, since I had already initiated a cancellation process for the previous policy, I declined additional plans. Instead, I opted to wait until I became eligible or explored other avenues, such as discussing with the HDFC branch manager.
Eventually, I visited a nearby HDFC Bank branch to inquire about card upgrade eligibility. They confirmed my eligibility for Infinia Metal, given my net take-home exceeding 2.9L and card spends over 7L. After submitting the required documents, including bank statements and payslips, my HDFC Millennia card was upgraded to Infinia Metal with an 8L limit within 10 working days. Following this, I arranged for add-on cards for my family.
The lesson learned: Check eligibility through official channels or inquire with credit card support before attempting an upgrade. Avoid unnecessary investments solely for card eligibility unless it's a mutually beneficial arrangement. In my case, I was open to Term Insurance or a short-term RD (1 year 1 month as needed amount post that for personal commitments) with a monthly premium (Term) or returns exceeding 7% (RD) for my financial goals.
PS: My salary increase to 43L from 31L for April, with a net take-home pay of 3.3L, including tax deductions and claimed LTA as taxable income for the previous year.

2024.05.21 02:38 Erwinblackthorn Brandon Sanderson is Woke

New Flash everyone: the guy who hangs out with Daniel Greene(a pro-fairy rights socialist), is loved by redditors, and got a Hugo award is… woke. Who would have ever seen that coming? But, thanks to Jon Del Arroz making a video about it on May 18th, I am here to repeat the news back to you so there is an easily accessible source as to HOW he’s woke. Everything was revealed back in January 2023, but I want people to understand the implications and narrative that he’s presenting when he says his concerns about fairy rights. By the end of this, you will realize that people calling themselves Christian does not cause them to be immune to wokeness.
In fact, with how Christianity has influenced wokeness into existence, it’s likely a lot of "Christians" are what we can call “first wave wokeness”.
For context, Brandon Sanderson is a Mormon, part of the Latter-Day Saints (LDS). Mormonism is almost exclusively a US issue, and I’ve also noticed that there are a lot of youtubers who tend to be Mormon women(probably because they have other women in the house to do the chores). These people are great with money, big in business, and their church is anti-fairy. A lot of problems the fairy-rights activists have are with Mormon churches, which is strange for Europeans to witness with how open a lot of their churches are, outside of the US. Protestant, evangelical, unitarian, the national church of Denmark, it’s a big list.
But in 2008, Brandon wrote an essay about his Mormon beliefs on how Dumbledore from Harry Potter liked to have wands stirred around in his brown cauldron. His quote:
How does this relate to Dumbledore? I'm not trying to present him as an antagonist or a villain. All I'm saying is that if you believe in the truth of your message, then you shouldn't care if someone decent, respected, and intelligent is depicted as believing differently from yourself. Decent, respected, and intelligent people can be wrong--and you can still respect them. It's okay. That doesn't threaten our points, since we (theoretically) believe that they are eternal and stronger than any argument we could make.
Back in this time, Brandon had only been an author for 3 years, but he won an award for his first published book, Elantris. He was being careful with his words, and his take is considered liberal. He was trying to defend the backlash JK Rowling received for her (poor) choice of virtue signaling and tried to mend this defense with his own religion. Mentioning his religious views is what got him canceled back then, which he later apologized for in 2011:
I cannot be deaf to the pleas of [fairy] couples who want important things, such as hospital visitation rights, shared insurance, and custody rights. At the same time, I accept and sustain the leaders of the LDS church. I believe that a prophet of God has said that widespread legislation to approve [fairy] marriage will bring pain and suffering to all involved.
He was not backing down from his religion yet. His goal post moved to the legal ramifications of the US, which are separate from his church(remember, church and state, supposed to be separate in the US), but he was still saying his religion wanted him to oppose people calling it a marriage and having it in churches. This was a second “cancellation” that didn’t go very far, mostly because he was able to use religion as an excuse for his take, with the Christian Cake Packed With Fudge Scandal not happening yet(2018).
Fast forward to 2023, after he hangs out with a bunch of woke youtubers, and we get a new quote from Brandon:
The church’s first prophet, Joseph Smith, famously taught, “I teach them correct principles and they govern themselves.” My current beliefs are where I’ve arrived on my journey, as I attempt to show the love that Jesus Christ taught. I look forward to seeing further changes in the church, and I work to make sure I am helping from within it to create a place that is welcoming of [fairy] people and ideas. I would love, for example, to see the church recognize [fairy] marriage among its members. Both temporally and eternally. I would support ordaining [tinkerbell] men to the priesthood. (And would support the ordination of women, though that is another issue.)
That’s interesting. It seems like he made a complete 180 on his stance, claims that he’s always believed this new stance, blames Jesus for this new stance, and then doubles down on this new stance by adding female ordination(becoming a priest and higher) and even Tinkerbells. As time went on, he decided that his religion was totally wrong about fairies, and this 13 year difference means way more than the nearly 200 years Mormonism has been around. I believe a fellow Mormon, Shadversity, would love to have a discussion about how any of this makes sense, but I’m starting to feel that he’s the same way. Who knows if Ethan Van Sciver understands Mormonism as well as Brandon Sanderson does, with how easy it is to manipulate prophecies and reinterpret scripture.
But that’s been the point for a while, right?
Wokeness is here to restructure both historical evidence and even religions, in order to shift cultures and social institutions to obey this progressive change. Words are changed in the dictionary, social “norms” are changed to be updated for a “modern audience”, and postmodernists like Foucault were able to trick college kids into thinking the Greeks were all pixie fairies. Once a critical theorist gets their hands on something with power, their goal is not to keep it as it is. It is to keep it for themselves. This is why you will hear these people say everything is subjective, which is secret code for “Look at me: I’m the captain of reality now.”
But wait, it gets better! Brandon Sanderson continued with:
Back in 2007, I was mostly known only in my community, not to the world at large. The essay, then, was directed at my local community, and was more controversial among them (for being too liberal) than it was controversial to the world at large for being [fairy]phobic. That might surprise you, if you’ve read the excerpts that often float around the internet. This was mostly me trying to encourage other members of the church to be more open and welcoming of [fairy] characters and ideas.
That said, the essay does display the casual bigotry common to people who (like myself) have lived lives where we haven’t had to deal with some of the issues common to the lives of people suffering discrimination. Many of the assertions (such as my view on [fairy] marriage) do not reflect my current stance. After writing it, and interacting with those who found it objectionable–even painful–I came to understand them and their experiences better. Though they did not owe me that honor, they gave it freely.
You see, he's honored to hear about the life of a bug chaser.
Brandon cares deeply about the pain he caused to his wallet… I mean the fairies who saw his essay. He was an award winning author back then, he didn’t know it would be a global thing. It was supposed to be only seen by people in Utah, that’s it. This is what we call: bullshit. The woke rely heavily on gaslighting and pretending they’re ignorant of everything, while telling others that they need to learn and understand EVERYTHING about a subject before they are even able to mention it.
He was already big on reddit, he knew all about his fandom, and he knew about his publisher, Tor. The only thing that really changed is that now he is unable to stick to being liberal and he has to present himself as progressive. Why? Well, the new Amazon deal happened recently, and he’s the writer of the series The Wheel of Time. As if Rings of Power wasn’t evidence enough of how Amazon mistreats their properties, Brandon was forced to erase his own past, like Agent J in Men in Black, burning his own hands in the process.
I’m not surprised that he’s woke or even that Christians are falling to this woke inquisition. When I said first wave wokeness, I would like to clarify why it’s the catalyst for all of this stupidity. Wokeness is not of Christian values, but instead a parasite upon Christianity, in the same way Gnosticism and Satanism would be. When Christianity started to allow new sects, and a lot of these were considered valid, the crazy sex cults of the 60s opened the floodgates for a bunch of crazy reinterpretations. It’s the same way as how there are still circles of Christianity that go for flat earth theory or say that dinosaurs don’t exist, with these people usually at the forefront of the home-schooling movement.
It’s not that home-schooling is bad by itself, it’s that bad people use it to then have the good people using it be wrongfully grouped into the same area, in the same way gun-ownership does. This type of bastardization has always been a problem in the US, due to the lack of authority over what makes something categorized as such a thing, thanks to liberalism allowing the freedom to constantly change things. As time went on, this liberalism changed into progressivism, with the key difference being that liberalism is an allowance of change while progressivism is an enforced change. The liberalism of the 1800s allowed the Confederates to claim Christianity approved of their enslavement of black people, by blaming the story of Ham and using scripture to claim it was okay to enslave certain people for generations. We always see this strange cherry-picking of scripture from fake Christians, and this problem has expanded into the Vatican itself with the current and following generations of Popes.
A lot of times, we’ll hear news about how Christians are under attack, a bakery is targeted to expose discrimination, or even where people claim they were banned from twitch for being Christian. But what they get wrong is that they are in the same circle as liberal and progressive Christianity, their openness created this weakness to tourism, and most Christian circles have been taken over in the US since before the 60s. The south has a culture of being liberal, Mormons have a culture of being liberal, protestants are very liberal, all because the US began as a liberal culture in the form of classical liberalism. The libertarian argument is always used by these liberal groups, that changes into the progressive enforcement, and over the years these liberal people get infected by the virus.
Add money to the mix, and we have ourselves an endless chain of liberal minded people falling to wokeness. The “redemption” narrative, along with original sin, from Christianity is currently its main weakness. The appeal to ignorance is another weakness, with people playing skeptic as a snake slithers through the grass. Christianity isn’t the problem by itself, it’s the naivety that comes from blind faith, which then expands into a contradictory blind faith that people are good inside, only to later wonder why everything is changing for the worse when evil people are put in charge. Fantasy stories have been under attack by the woke for quite a while, long before they tried to appropriate Tolkien with Rings of Power.
The fantasy that is controlled by the woke is an extension to their attack on religion, because to them a fantasy story is no different than a bible. Mythological presentation, symbolic themes, a dream-like world to present morals to follow; the entire thing has been used by Brandon to then have him later claim that he’s always had fairy characters since the beginning. Sure, his religion says fairies are bad, but then he virtue signals by claiming he’s always made fiction about how they’re good. He would never say this if the publishing world made sense and if publishers were the way they were in the 1950s. That is because he would never have to choose between religion and money back then, with money always mattering more to the typical materialist.
I’m sure people will say that I’m being hard on Christians, or that I’m evil for saying this, or even that I am a satanist for noticing. These people would only be angry at the truth being said, which is the opposite of what Christianity teaches. Fantasy writers, like Brandon, have a lot of supporters, with this support merging between the woke and Mormons. So many feel that they need to make sense of their fandom, so they claim their religion is wokeness, converting it into blind Satanism. This is far from the truth and we need to condemn those who focus solely on radical subjectivity.
Especially if they blame God for their stupid takes, like how Brandon does now.

2024.05.21 01:53 SAMUEL_118 MA Auto Insurance Help

I’m having a little bit of an issue right now with getting car insurance. So in march I sold my only car a 2010 Jetta, our insurance premium for that car with full coverage was around $1700 for me (licensed in mass for 3 years, 16 years in India) and my son, newly licensed (2021).
Now the problem, i’m trying to get auto insurance for another car I’m buying soon, A 2020 Subaru Forester. All of the quotes I’m getting are like $4-6k per year. I’ve talked to a few insurance agencies to get better rates but they keep on telling me that most insurance companies won’t write me a policy because I haven’t had insurance in 3 months.
But I don’t understand how that’s a problem, if I sold my car and didn’t have any other automobile, why would I keep my insurance? I canceled my policy a week after selling my car.
What can I do ? I’m not looking forward to paying $5k + for insurance, please advise me what to do.

2024.05.20 21:08 pGEM_T-Easy Wrongfully Permanently Banned - with no option to appeal :(

This whole situation is going to become my villain origin story.
TL:DR: Over the past four days, my WhatsApp account has been banned three times, and is now permanently banned. I am confident that I did not violate WhatsApp's Terms of Service. The app screen currently just shows this message: "This account cannot use WhatsApp. We have completed your review and found this account's activity did not follow WhatsApp's Terms of Service." It doesn't tell me why, and the only option it gives me is to register a new number.
The first ban was on Thursday. The message on my WhatsApp home screen read "This account can no longer use WhatsApp due to spam". I was super worried because my friend's WhatsApp was hacked a few days before, and I thought that my account could be hacked and sending spam messages. I requested a review and after a few hours, my account was restored. Unfortunately, my account was banned for the second time 24 hours later. This time the message just read "This account can no longer use WhatsApp". No mention of "due to spam" or any other reason for why they banned me. I requested a review and it was restored again after a few hours. After a few days had passed, I thought that was the end of it. Unfortunately, my account was banned for the third time this afternoon (Monday). This time, it only took an hour for the review to be completed. My account has now been permanently banned from WhatsApp. (See message in first paragraph).
I have a friend (let's call them M) whose WhatsApp was recently hacked, and their number (along with an unknown number from Pakistan) added me to a WhatsApp Community. I left the Community and blocked the unknown number as soon as I saw this. This happened three days before my first ban. I'm wondering if their automated system flagged my WhatsApp account for having been associated with the hacked number? M has since regained access to their account. M and two friends that we have in common are also experiencing repeated bans, although they have only had two and have had successful reviews. It remains to be seen if they will suffer the same fate as I did. I am confident that my account was not hacked. I didn't see any weird activity and I did not get requests foshare any authentication codes.
After reviewing WhatsApp's Terms of Service, I really can't see how I did something to cause me to be banned. I don't use third-party apps for WhatsApp. I don't engage in sending spam messages and I don't engage in activities that could harm other users.
The loss of my WhatsApp account does not only represent a temporary loss of a route of communication while I obtain a new phone number, but it is also a loss of all the conversations, photos and memories that I have built up over the decade that I have had my account. Not only will I lose this, but because WhatsApp is a requirement for basic communication in my country, I will have to acquire a new phone number. This means changing the phone number registered under my name at my bank, the government, apps and services I use, my place of work, my university, et cetera. It is a process that will take months.
What has made this process even more infuriating is the absence of any way to get into contact with a real person that I can have a normal human conversation with. The contact box on their website just sends out an automated email saying that bans have to be appealed through the review process in the app. Which only works if the app gives you that option. Mine doesn't.
I have sent an email to [support@whatsapp.com](mailto:support@whatsapp.com). The automated response looks promising. It didn't immediately tell me they don't handle bans via email. I really hope that a real person reads the email. I wrote a long sob story and included the paragraph I added in this post about "the loss of my WhatsApp my account" haha. I've already lost the account so it's not like it can get that much worse. I asked if they could reinstate the account, or at least tell me why it was banned (with proof).
In the meantime, I'm going to have to get a new sim card etc. But I will never give up on my WhatsApp account. If the email comes back as an automated reply, I'm sending a letter via mail to the Meta HC. The postage will probably be insane because there are sixteen thousand kilometres between me and them. But if there's even a 10% chance of getting my account back, even if it takes months, I will do it. At this point, it's more based on the principle of the matter than the actual loss of my chats.
Anyway - I doubt anyone will read this to the end...or at all. But if anyone has advice on how I could contact WhatsApp, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

St. Tammany Parish Coroner Christopher Tape & the recall petition (detailed report)
I know that this topic has been brought up here before, but I am here to bring it up again. No matter where you stand on political issues, this man has no place in my local government, or in my community at all, and I’ll tell you why. (Chronological order of how everything came to light, not order of importance) Reason #1: OCTOBER 2023
“St. Tammany Parish Coroner Charles Preston said Thursday he has fired Christopher Tape, a forensic pathologist who was elected to replace Preston after running unopposed for the job, claiming Tape violated the office's confidentiality policies.
Preston's office did not provide details on what transpired, except to say that "information was disclosed externally that should not have been," according to Greg Beuerman, a spokesperson for the coroner's office. The information allegedly involved the results of medical tests, and the disclosure could interfere with an ongoing law enforcement investigation, the coroner's office said.” This is from a nola.com news article written by Alex Lubben, a staff writer with NOLA. It was later revealed the accusation and firing came up because of “sharing medical records”.
Reason #2: 2001 charges revealed
In 2001, Dr. Tape was arrested and booked in the state of New Mexico on the count(s) of child sexual assault, but was later released due to the fact that he was not given his right of a speedy trial and it took more than a year to formally charge him(the state of New Mexico argues he used different tactics to purposely slow down his trial, but Tape and his lawyers deny this). I will attach his statement from the arrest and anything else I can find later on if possible. He was formally accused of hitting/ slapping and rubbing his girlfriend’s daughters behind with his bare hand and/or a belt while putting her in suggestive positions. She was 7 at the time. I have attached the court transcript in a link below.
Reason #3: Removal of the SANE program(was forcefully redacted) The sexual assault nurse examination program in St. Tammany is a program that helps sexual assault survivors with different resources and is offered by the St. Tammany Parish Coroners Office. On the first day that Dr. Christopher Tape took office, he suspended the SANE program and handed it off to the hospitals of St. Tammany with no time for a tranistion plan, and the hospitals could not handle it so the JSCO(Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office, offered to pick up the program and added the on-call nurses to his SANE team to offer these resources to St. Tammany residents again. Dr. Tape claimed to remove the program because “(the program) operated at a significant financial loss.” and also later stated, “ ‘Tangipahoa can take up the same program. If they think it’s a money maker, they can take it. Livingston can take it. Any of the hospitals can take it. If it’s a money-maker, take it. I’m a businessman, it’s not a money maker. Take it if you want it,’ “ What a sick joke. This makes so much sense, because a taxpayer funded program like that is definitely (NOT) there to make money. As of Monday, 5/20/24, the program has been reinstated under Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office. Christopher Tape did not reinstate the program with the help of the JPCO out of the kindness of his heart or his morality, but because he was sued by multiple coroners around us and received a court order to reinstate the program.
Reason #4: NOVEMBER 2023 Out of court settlement for unwanted advances from Tape Information on this is very vague, what I have is from Louisiana Illuminator that reads, “Tape also settled a recent lawsuit in which an assistant accused him of making unwanted advances at the workplace. Most of the records of that settlement are under court seal and not available to the public, but according to a record of a separate court hearing that is available, Tape said he asked the woman out multiple times and was rejected. He told the court he didn’t know he was making her uncomfortable at the time, explaining he has been socially awkward his entire life and struggles to read social cues.”
While I’m sure there is more, there is the basic facts, and I will continue to update as new information arises. There is a recall petition in effect since April and is currently collecting signatures. Putting a person not just accused, but charged with sexual assault at the head of a sexual assault resource program is comparable to allowing a criminal to investigate his own crime. 10 elected officials, 3 of those being Senators, and 7 of them being council members from St. Tammany and surrounding parishes/cities have signed a letter calling for the Parish President Mike Cooper and the St. Tammany Parish Council to resign, which he refused and refuses to do. St. Tammany is notorious for corruption, from our former Sheriff Jack Strain who has state and federal charges for financial crimes and sex crimes was sheriff for 20 YEARS before being succeeded by Randy Smith and receiving 4 life sentences, or the former Covington Deputy Chief Joseph Mahon who is currently on trial for 5 felony possession of child pornography, on top of the previous controversy and corruption from previous coroners, this is the last person I want heading the coroner’s office in my parish. Thank you for reading, feel free to leave any comments or questions in the thread. This is about 3 months worth of research throughout the internet and local new sources. If you think it is unprofessional/ improper, this is just a reddit post(an compilation of exposure of my local government too).

Monday, May 20, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 14
Trial Day 14. Week 4
Katherine, Rebbie and Trent Jackson were at court.
Before testimony starts, Judge Yvette Palazuelos admonished the audience that no one is allowed to talk to jurors. Someone approached one of them. Apparently someone (person wasn’t identified) spoke with a juror, which is a big no-no. Could lead to a mistrial.
Julie Hollander Testimony
AEG cross
"Each member of the crew, dancers, musicians had an agreement as to weekly payment", Hollander explained
Hollander said AEG never paid Dr. Conrad Murray because the contract had not been fully executed. Based on the contract, Hollander said payment for Dr. Murray should be to GCA, the doctor's employer
Contract:
Dr. Murray represented he's licensed cardiologist practicing in Las Vegas and that he acts as the Artist's general practitioner
Hollander says Dr. Murray could only be paid after the contract was fully executed, including the signature of MJ, due to the personal nature of the service. AEG attorney Jessica Stebbins Bina went over part of Conrad Murray’s contract related to how he would have been paid. Julie Hollander testified she was told not to pay Murray until the contract was signed by all parties, including AEG and Jackson. Hollander said last week that she was told not to pay Murray until Jackson’s signature was on the contract
Hollander said she has never seen an agreement where the artist had to sign off on a contract for services. Hollander said last week that she was told not to pay Murray until Jackson’s signature was on the contract. AEG exec Julie Hollander re-iterated last week’s testimony that Murray’s contract was the only one she saw requiring MJ’s signature.
Hollander explained that budget is a tool where you plan your future expenses. The book documents the actual expenses incurred. Bina showed Hollander the report she prepared on 10/21/09 that was sent to MJ's Estate with the costs incurred as advances for the This Is It tour.
Next document Bina showed a comparison of Budget v. Actual expenses as of Oct. 2009. Julie Hollander told a jury the tally involved expenses compiled through October 2009, roughly three months after Michael's death. Budget documents shown in the courtroom show the production was more than $2 million over budget, and that AEG made no payments to Conrad Murray

  • Budget Total: Budget: $22,228,000 /Actual: $24,835,011
  • Management Medical Budget: $300,000/ Actual: Zero
  • Public Relations Budget: $18,000 /Actual: Zero
  • Rehearsal Per Diems: Budget: $175,000 /Actual: $89,751
  • Rehearsal Facilities: Budget: $871,000/ Actual: $1,553,558
Jackson re-direct
In re-direct, Panish asked Hollander if it was true that public relations was not paid $18,000 because MJ died. She said no
Panish: Do you know what that $18,000 is for?
Hollander: No
Panish: Budget and actual payment for rehearsals per diem were different because Mr. Jackson died, correct?
Hollander: No
Hollander didn't know the per diem schedule, so she said she didn't know the answers
Panish: You didn't pay Dr. Murray, did you?
Hollander: No
Panish: That's why it's not there (on doc shown)
Hollander: Yes
"But all the estimates include payment for Dr. Murray?", Panish asked
"That's what shows in this paper," Hollander responded.
Contract:
Promoter shall make advanced to cover mutually-approved production costs up to but not exceeding $7.5 million
Panish shows Dr. Murray's contract and asked Hollander if anywhere in the agreement is says this was a draft agreement.
"In my experience, a draft is a term used to describe an agreement that has not been signed by all parties involved", Hollander explained.
Panish: Is it your experience people sign draft agreements?
Hollander: My experience is that until everyone signs, it can be changed. If this version had been signed by everybody, would've been final
The contract was from 5/1/09 until the end of the This Is It tour
I was told it was put in there at the request of the artist, Hollander said
Panish asked if MJ had to approve $150K payment for Dr Murray
"I've never been involved in a tour where AEG hired a doctor", Hollander said. "It's never happened before. I know in my experience it's not typical for a promoter or producer to hire a doctor"
Panish questioned Hollander about Dr. Murray's company and she said it was a LLC in Nevada.
"Do you know what GCA is? Does it sell popcorn?"
Panish asked Hollander if there was a written policy against someone working for AEG without an executed contract. She said she isn't aware of any. Hollander said there's a policy against paying people without fully executed contract.
Hollander said tour promoters don't get involved in what it takes to actually put the show together. The artist does. AEG Live is more promoter than producers of shows, Hollander said. They promoted upwards of 100 tours, produced only a few, she testified.
"Acting as producer you get more money than just as promoter, right?", Panish asked
Hollander agreed, saying they have earning potentials
Hollander said the Michael Jackson Estate approved the cost of the tour expenses incurred by AEG
Panish: You don't know whether the artist was supposed to approve the cost while it was incurred and not after his death, correct?
Panish asked Hollander how it was that she testified last week she worked in 20 concerts and today she said it was more than 100. Hollander said she looked through materials at work and it refreshed her recollection. Panish said he wants to see the list of tours. "My estimate was 20 tours up until 2009", Hollander said. "From 09 to today, she said it's upward of 100"
Panish: "Do you have any understanding whether Dr. Murray expected to get paid?"
Hollander: "Only along those lines, yes"
Julie Hollander was then excused subject to recall if needed.
Shawn Trell Testimony
Jackson Direct
Katherine Jackson's attorneys called Shawn Trell as next witness. Brian Panish doing questioning, Trell is an adverse witness
Shawn Trell is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for AEG Live for 10 years. He's been with the company for 13 years
Trell said he met with defendants' attorneys for a few hours Saturday and Sunday, reviewed documents to refresh his recollection
"I'm the client's representative in the court", Trell said
Plaintiff’s attorney Brian Panish asked Trell about his relationship with AEG’s trial counsel, Marvin Putnam. Putnam and Trell went to law school together, but Trell said he’s only known Putnam for three or four years. Marvin Putnam and Trell went to Georgetown Law School together, but only realized they went to the same school after the trial started
Attorney Shawn Trell was the one who drafted & edited Michael Jackson’s contract with AEG Live.
Panish: Did you enter in a contract with Mr. Jackson for the This Is It tour?
Trell: Yes
Trell said he was involved in drafting the agreement, but in his deposition, he said he had drafted it himself
Panish also asked Trell about his knowledge of Michael Jackson’s interest in producing movies with an AEG film group. Trell said he knew Jackson wanted to produce movies, but he wasn’t aware that MJ wanted to work specifically with AEG. Trell said he's aware MJ wanted to produce films and Anschutz has a film company. Trell said he never heard that Randy Phillips spoke with DreamWorks about producing a MJ movie.
Trell said he never discussed with Tim Leiweke, former AEG's CEO, about MJ. Leiweke is no longer with AEG, Trell said
Trell was interviewed by LAPD.
"I think they were interested in what we knew about Dr. Murray"
Trell said he produced all the materials LAPD asked of him. Panish asked if he turned over only one email, and he said he didn't recall
Trell said he's confident he turned over all the material requested of AEG Live. Outside the presence of the jury, Jessica Stebbins Bina said there are about 200,000 pages of documents. Panish said Trell has been designated in 24 categories as having knowledge and being the most qualified to speak on behalf of AEG. Panish said the witnesses he will spend most time on are Randy Phillips, Paul Gongaware and Shawn Trell
Panish asked if AEG Live sent a letter to MJ's Estate after he died trying to recoup money. Trell said he didn't recall. Panish showed an AEG Live letter written to MJ's Estate with costs incurred for the tour. It was signed by AEG's CFO.
"This report was sent to the Estate as an accounting and an effort to recoup the money based on the agreement," Trell said.
The report indicated around $30 million had been spent on the production of the tour. The report included $300K to pay Dr. Murray. Panish noted that the report was sent to MJ's Estate to recoup money "spent." AEG never paid Dr. Murray.
"To me, it was a mistake," Trell said about including payment to Dr. Murray
Trell, testifying Monday in the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial, also said his company's chief financial officer made another major error by classifying Dr. Murray's fees as "production costs" and not "advances" in all of the budgets for Jackson's This It It tour.
"Mistakenly, yes," Trell said. Despite these "mistakes," Trell called the CFO "a very detailed-oriented guy"
MJ was given $5 million in advance:
  • $3 million was to pay settlement of a lawsuit
  • $100,000/month for Carolwood house lease
Trell said MJ was already in the house at Carolwood when they entered into the agreement. AEG was to assist MJ to get $15 million in credit line, or would advance the money, so MJ could buy a house in Las Vegas, Trell testified
Trell said Tohme Tohme was acting as MJ's manager at the time and was to be paid no more than $100,000. Panish asked if AEG Live ever had a contract that included pay for artist's personal manager's salary:
"I don't recall one. This was the only time we paid a personal manager", Trell testified.
AEG Live's producer's fee: 5% of net tour income
Panish asked if Dr. Murray was listed in every budget after May 8, 2009:
"He was listed incorrectly as production cost," Trell said
After lunch break, Panish asked Trell is AEG was getting 5% as producer and 10% as promoter of the show, and he said yes. Panish shows a document with AEG Mission Statement. One of the bullet points is "to create land maximize revenue streams"
As of June 2009, Trell said AEG was not sure the extent of Jackson's assets to secure the interests of the company.
"There's an inherent risk in any commercial undertaking," Trell said.

"It wasn't a sure thing that AEG would get back the $35 million spent. By the time they spent $35 million, tickets were already been sold", Trell said and they knew the tour was sold out. "The development of a tour is a fluid thing, there were conversations between our side and MJ's side all the time", Trell said. "I don't know when I became aware the production cost exceeded $7.5 million," Trell testified.
As to non-appearance insurance, Trell said he got insurance for $17.5 million

Panish: After MJ died, you drafted an agreement to approve productions costs?
Trell: Yes
The letter was drafted on June 28, 2009, 3 days of MJ's death.
"I wouldn't characterize it as trying to get the monies back," Trell said.
Panish explained the letter was to get confirmation of all the money spent so AEG could recoup the money spent. Trell said there was nothing in writing saying Mr. Tohme was an officer of MJ's company. He said Mr. Tohme verbalized it to him, though.
"I had nothing in writing," Trell said about Tohme representing MJ. "Presumably they could've objected if they felt it wasn't true."
Trell said Mr. Tohme represented to him he was representing MJ.
"I had no reason not to believe him"
He was also asked about a letter he sent to Tohme Tohme, MJ’s onetime manager. Jackson’s agreement with AEG Live called for Tohme to be called $100,000 a month, but Tohme was never paid. Trell said he drafted the agreement that Mr. Tohme was going to be paid by AEG as part of production cost.
"We were making that payment"
Trell said he didn't know who came up with the $100K figure to pay Mr. Tohme.
"AEG was facilitating an agreement between MJ and Dr. Tohme."
Tohme was not paid.
"That was because there were some conditions in the agreement not met"
Shawn Trell testified that he found out after the contract was signed that Jackson didn’t authorize Tohme’s payments.
"Subsequently, I learned Mr. Jackson had not approved the payment. MJ didn't authorize, so it wasn't going to get paid," Trell said, explaining he learned it either from Randy Phillips or Frank DiLeo.
On 5/5/09, MJ wrote:
"At my direction and effective immediately, Dr. Tohme Tohme is no longer authorized to represent me in any capacity"

Panish: are you license to practicing law in CA?
Trell: no, not in all aspects
Trell is registered as in-house counsel for AEG. He's never taken the CA bar test
Bob Taylor is an insurance broker, Trell said, and Lloyds of London is one of the underwriters of the type of insurance they were seeking. Panish shows a document where MJ was required to have a physical exam so broker could take the results to the insurance companies. Trell said he asked the question why insurance broker had chosen Dr. Slavit in NY and not a doctor in LA. The payment of the doctor was going to be 50/50 between the insurance broker and AEG, Trell said. Trell testified that it was the broker's belief that without physical exam there would be no way to get insurance. An email shows Trell inquired if it was really necessary to incur $10K in expense to get the medical exam completed. Trell said he never saw Dr. Slavit's report, or any other report, regarding MJ's physical exam; didn't know what kind of doctor he was. Trell said he learned through Taylor they wanted to get a number of years of MJ medical history.
"They were concerned he had skin cancer" "The policy was otherwise issued, but this was to add illness"
They required 2nd examination in London; wanted to see rehearsal. Trell said he never saw a request for a second medical exam in any tour. Plaintiff’s attorney Brian Panish also questioned Trell extensively about concert cancellation insurance for Jackson. An insurance broker was pressing AEG for a medical examination of Jackson before agreeing to write the policy. Emails between Trell and the broker showed there were concerns by insurers in London about Jackson’s health. One of the emails said Jackson was getting “mauled” by tabloid press over health concerns. Trell said concern was Jackson had skin cancer. Trell and the broker went back-and-forth a lot over in Jan. 2009 which doctor would do the exam. In the end, a NYC doc examined Jackson. Trell said he never saw the results of the medical examination. In March, insurers wanted another exam of Jackson in London. The second examination would cover illness, but insurers wanted another med exam and to attend full dress rehearsal, Trell said.
Panish: the insurance wanted additional medical exams because they were concerned, weren't they?
Trell: I have no idea
Panish showed email from the insurance broker to AEG execs with several question: details of coverage required, if artist had doctor on tour. Trell said he doesn't know whether this email with the requests was ever sent to MJ's people. Trell said Dr. Murray was asked later to help with these answers.
"It was thought that he might be of some help."
Panish asked if Trell sought life insurance on MJ where they would be the beneficiaries.
"An inquire of that was made to Mr. Taylor. We have no coverage against MJ sickness unless and until MJ submits to another medical in London. It was important to get that medical done"
He said policy would kick in on death, but not illness.
Panish: You were working on getting insurance on the day MJ died, weren't you sir?
Trell: I don't recall
Given the hour MJ died, Trell said he thinks he was not on the phone with Bob Taylor negotiating more insurance for MJ. Panish showed email from Gongaware to the insurance broker on June 24, 2009:
"Dr. Murray can comment on the availability of the records"
Panish said the amount of coverage was the maximum the underwriters were willing to cover, Trell agreed; it was effective April/early May. Two days before MJ died, Trell asked broker for longer insurance coverage:
"Term insurance is a reference to a form of life insurance"
Trell said he was looking for other options to cover the gap for what had already been spent
AEG made a claim on the insurance, Trell said.
Panish: You made the claim the night MJ died, didn't you?
Trell: I don't recall the date; it wasn't Jun 25th when I sent letter to Taylor
Panish: Were you speaking with Taylor about MJ being sick on the day he died?
Trell: I don't recall speaking with Mr. Taylor on the 25th
Panish asked if Trell discussed w/ Taylor about recouping Dr. Murray's production cost. He said they'd typically pass along the costs.
Trell said he spoke with Randy Phillips about MJ's health and physical condition, as well as Phillips' interaction with Dr. Murray.
Panish: Did Mr. Phillips tell you MJ was in bad shape prior to June 25?
Trell: Yes, on June 19
Trell said there were no AEG employees at rehearsal on June 19. He learned about MJ's feeling ill during the executive management meeting. Trell said he never spoke with Dr. Murray about MJ's condition. Randy Phillips learned about MJ's physical condition through Kenny Ortega, the tour director for This Is It, Trell said.
Panish: Within one week of MJ's death, the executive management was told about MJ poor physical condition?
Trell: The events on June 19, yes
The tour's director Kenny Ortega was being paid based on an agreement laid out solely in emails, AEG General Counsel Shawn Trell told jurors.
"Ortega's contract was a series of emails between us" Trell said. "He didn't have agreement of the nature as other people had on the tour"

Trell: "I don't recall, but I know initially it was more informal agreement. He (Ortega) was being paid based on the email agreement"
Dr. Murray was an independent contract, Trell said. An agreement is a term of conditions, not only agreement on compensation.
"He was rendering services to Mr. Jackson; he had not been engaged for This Is It tour," Trell testified.
Panish: And Dr. Murray had an agreement with AEG based on the emails?
Trell: No, Dr. Murray didn't have an agreement with AEG
In court, attorneys for Katherine Jackson displayed emails sent to Murray a month before the death of MJ in which Murray's contract terms were laid out. Trell said those emails did not demonstrate an employment relationship. Trell acknowledged, however, that Ortega was paid for his work on the shows despite working under terms laid out only in a series of emails.
"Kenny Ortega is different from Conrad Murray," Trell testified.
Panish said Ortega didn't have a memorialized agreement.
Email from Dr. Murray to Wooley on May 29, 2009:
"I have performed and continue to fulfill my services to the client in good faith. Therefore, I am asking you to deposit my fee for May in reciprocity of good faith on your part as per our agreement the usual and customary date for deposit is around 15th of each month, by today's date we're 13 days beyond my monthly fee.”
Trell said they had agreed on the compensation for Dr. Murray, but needed to memorialize the deal in an agreement. Email from Wooley to Murray on May 8, 2009 details terms of the contract:
  • contracting company
  • mode of travel
  • living arrangements in London
Another email shows Wooley asking Dr. Murray for a cancelled check for direct deposit of his monthly compensation.
Email from Gongaware to Brother Michael on 5/6/09 regarding Dr. Murray:
"Done at $150K per month, per MJ."
Trell said Gongaware was authorized to negotiate with Dr. Murray, but he was still subject to an AEG contract. Another email said executive Paul Gongaware informed others that Murray would be "full time" on the tour by mid-May
Panish asked if before a contract is written, the "meeting of the minds" is necessary. Trell agreed

Panish: And Dr. Murray was working for AEG Live in May of 2009
Trell: No, I would totally disagree with that statement
Plaintiff's attorney Brian Panish asked Trell to agree with a statement that Murray was working for AEG.
"I would totally disagree with that statement," Trell said, noting that Ortega and Murray were considered independent contractors
Trell testified that five days before Jackson's death, top AEG executives were informed that he was in poor health. By that point, Ortega had sent executives an email titled "Trouble at the front" detailing Jackson's problems
Email from Ortega to Phillips on 6/20/09
Trouble at the Front
"I honestly don't think he's ready for this based in his continued physical weakening and deepening emotional state. It is reminiscent if what Karen, Bush, Travis and I remembered just before he fainted causing the HBO Concerts to be canceled. There are strong signs of paranoia, anxiety and obsessive-like behavior. I think the very best thing we can do is get a top Psychiatrist in to evaluate him ASAP. It’s like there are two people there. One (deep inside) trying to hold on to what he was and still can be and not wanting us to quit him, the other in his weakened and troubled state … I honestly felt if I had encouraged or allowed him on stage last night he could have hurt himself. I believe we need professional guidance in this matter."
Phillips turned down the request for a psychiatrist. In emails previously published by The Times, Phillips wrote:
"It is critical that neither you, me or anyone around this show become amateur psychiatrists or physicians."
Trell said Phillips did not contact a psychiatrist, doctor or any other medical provider, but they had a meeting that same day.
"I think someone took it seriously," Trell said.
He was not present at the meeting, but it was with Dr. Murray. Trell said the company’s response was to hold a meeting that day with Jackson and his doctor, Conrad Murray. “…so I think they took it seriously,” he said
Shawn Trell will continue to testify and is expected to last all day on the witness stand. Paul Gongaware is next witness. He'll be at the courthouse first thing on Wednesday, assuming they finish with Trell by then.

Last week, I decided to try out the new Clear Stadium Bag from Etsy. I must say, I was quite impressed with the quality and style of this purse. It looked incredibly attractive, and I could see the attention to detail that went into designing it. As someone who enjoys attending concerts and sporting events, I needed a bag that was stylish and practical.
One of the things that stood out the most to me was the capacity of this bag. It was just the right size to fit all my essentials, like my phone, wallet, and some snacks for the event. The bag was designed to fit into the strict security standards of public areas, ensuring that I wouldn't have any issues getting into the event.
However, there was one area where the bag fell short. The letters on the bag were slightly crooked, which made the overall appearance less professional. The seller was responsive, and I was able to contact them for a replacement. Overall, this Clear Stadium Bag is a great addition to my collection, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish and functional purse for their next concert.

🔗Clear Stadium Crossbody Bag from Dick's Sporting Goods

During a recent weekend trip to a sports stadium, I decided to give Dick's Sporting Goods Clear Stadium Crossbody Bags a try. With its clear, see-through design, I thought it would be perfect for keeping all my essentials in one place, while also being convenient and stylish.
The first thing I noticed was the zip closure for the main compartment, which offers a secure way to store my belongings without having to worry about them falling out. Additionally, the adjustable webbing straps made it easy to adjust the bag to fit my body perfectly.
One of the coolest things about this bag is its compatibility with clear bag policies at various stadiums and concerts. Measuring 21 cm width x 20.5 cm height x 7 cm depth, it's the right size for most requirements and offers a perfect balance between convenience and functionality.
While I loved the overall design and performance of the Dick's Sporting Goods Clear Stadium Crossbody Bags, there were a couple of minor drawbacks I encountered. First, the strap length could have been a bit longer, allowing for better crossbody comfort and ease of use. Additionally, the material used (TPU) had a bit of a plastic feel to it, making it less comfortable than some other options available in the market.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Dick's Sporting Goods Clear Stadium Crossbody Bags to anyone in need of a reliable and functional crossbody bag for sports or concert events. Despite some minor drawbacks, its clear, see-through design and secure closure make it a smart choice for anyone who wants to keep their belongings safe and organized while on the go.

I recently tried out this Clear Crossbody Pouch for a day out and was pleasantly surprised by its quality. The overall design is simple yet stylish, and the pouch measures just the right size for all my essentials - even fitting my phone with a protective case.
One of the highlights of this purse is its adjustable shoulder strap, which made it comfortable to carry around all day. I appreciated being able to wear it as a crossbody or simply around my waist, depending on the situation.
However, there were a couple of downsides to the pouch. Firstly, I found the strap to be a bit shorter than expected, making it less convenient as a crossbody option. Additionally, the purse seemed to rest more towards my waist rather than my hip, which wasn't a perfect fit.
Despite these minor issues, I still had a great experience using this Clear Crossbody Pouch. It proved to be a practical and fashionable choice for a day out, especially in stadium situations where clear bags are required. I highly recommend this purse for anyone looking for a functional and stylish option for game days, concerts, and events requiring clear bags.

In my recent experience, I've been using the Durecopow Clear Crossbody Bag as a daily accessory. The product exceeded my expectations in terms of functionality and design. The double-pocket design allows me to organize my belongings with ease, placing larger items such as my cell phone and lip balm in the larger compartment, while keeping my passport, keys, and wallet in the smaller pocket for enhanced security.
A feature I particularly admire is the high-quality TPU material, which proved to be rainproof and resistant to odors. Additionally, the adjustable shoulder strap, ranging from 23.6 inches to 46 inches, made it convenient for both men and women to wear comfortably.
While using this crossbody bag, I have found it to be a practical choice for various occasions, including sports events, concerts, and even casual outings. Its compact size and clear design make it easy to spot my personal belongings and ensure a hassle-free experience.
One drawback, however, is that the bag arrived somewhat dirty, with smudges and fingerprints present from previous storage or handling. While the issue was not significant enough to discourage me from using the product, I wish the seller had taken extra care to ensure the product was clean upon arrival.
Overall, the Durecopow Clear Crossbody Bag has become a reliable and convenient accessory in my daily life, addressing my needs for organization, functionality, and style.

I recently purchased the Haute Shore Clear Crossbody Bag to use during a stadium event. The bag is lightweight and surprisingly roomy, able to hold all my essentials, including a phone, keys, wallet, and a small fan for the hot day. The 2-inch solid black strap is comfortable to wear and perfectly complements the clear vinyl design.
One of my favorite features about this bag is that it comes with multiple interchangeable strap options. I have the black and gold stars design which adds a cute touch to the bag. The zippered top and exterior front zip pocket provide added convenience for organizing my belongings on-the-go.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend this bag to anyone attending events that require clear bags, like sporting events or concerts. Whether you're attending a game or traveling, this stylish and practical bag is sure to be a useful addition to your wardrobe.

Upon opening the bag, I was impressed by the thickness and durability of the clear PVC material. It not only made the bag waterproof, lightweight, and easy to dry, but it also provided a spacious capacity with two pockets. These pockets were perfect for storing my phone, cards, keys, and other small essentials.
One of the best features of this MoKo clear bag is the visibility of the contents. This bag is perfect for the clear bag policy at stadiums and festivals. The size is just right, fitting my mobile phone, keys, wallet, and water bottle. The transparent material allows me to keep an eye on my belongings without worrying about losing anything.
What really stands out about this bag is the waterproof and tear-resistant PVC material it's made of. It has held up well to the wear and tear from everyday use. The adjustable shoulder strap is another huge plus, making it comfortable to wear as a crossbody bag or over the shoulder.
One minor downside is that it's slightly smaller than I initially thought, but it still holds everything I need for a day out at a concert or game. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend the YELOMIN clear crossbody bag to others.

I was recently in need of a clear crossbody bag for an event with strict security rules, and I stumbled upon the TSV Stadium Approved Clear Crossbody Bag. With its waterproof and sturdy design, this purse has become my go-to choice for concerts and festivals. The adjustable shoulder strap makes it perfect for all ages and genders, and the zippered front pocket keeps my essentials secure.
One of the most appealing features of this bag is its durable construction, allowing it to withstand any moisture or potential spills. The clear PVC and soft nylon materials ensure that my belongings remain protected in wet environments. Additionally, the see-through design makes it easy for security personnel to inspect the contents, providing peace of mind during events.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks. The top zipper feels somewhat flimsy, which may be a concern for some users. Also, the removable shoulder strap is not available, which could be an issue for some individuals who prefer not to have the strap around their shoulders.
Overall, I'm impressed with the TSV Stadium Approved Clear Crossbody Bag. It offers the right balance of style, functionality, and security features, making it a solid choice for anyone in search of the perfect clear bag for workplaces or events.

I recently got my hands on a Clear Messenger Bag Cross Body that's specifically designed for stadiums, and I have to say, it's a game-changer for those attending concerts, sporting events, or other crowded venues. Made of sturdy PVC, it's built to withstand some wear and tear while still keeping your belongings safe and easily accessible.
One of the things that stood out to me was its capacity. Despite being a one-size-fits-all bag, it has enough room to store all your essentials, from your wallet and phone to a water bottle and snacks. Plus, the clear design allows for quick checks at the entrance without having to rummage through your bag.
However, there's a catch – durability seems to be hit or miss. Some users have reported tears after just a few uses, while others have praised the bag for its long-lasting quality. It's also worth mentioning that although the bag can be machine washed, a few reviews have highlighted that the zipper may not hold up after a few rounds in the washing machine.
In summary, this Clear Messenger Bag Cross Body is a handy and stylish solution for those who want to avoid the hassle of traditional security checks. Just be prepared for a bit of trial and error to ensure you get a bag that stands the test of time.

I recently stumbled upon the Hanmir Clear Bag, and I must admit that it was a game-changer for me. I've been going to concerts and sports events lately, and the usual hassle of trying to fit everything into a tiny clutch while going through the security line was quite frustrating.
What drew me to this clear bag was its durability. Made from TPU material instead of PVC, it's more flexible and long-lasting than its counterparts. Plus, it's not just good-looking – it's also functional. I found it incredibly convenient to get through security lines quickly with this transparent bag.
One of the best things about this clear crossbody bag is that it has a convenient inner pocket where you can keep your small essentials organized. And thanks to its perfect size of 10 by 9 inches, it fits my phone, wallet, and cosmetics comfortably.
However, there are some cons to consider as well. For one, the strap could be longer to provide more comfort. And some users have mentioned that the bag tends to look smaller on photos than it is in real life.
In conclusion, the Hanmir Clear Bag has been a great addition to my event-going experience. It strikes the perfect balance between style and functionality, and I would definitely recommend it to others in need of a reliable and practical crossbody bag for concerts and sports events.

2024.05.20 12:44 despabibo I Accidentally Became a Teacher and My Life Has Been Falling Apart Ever Since

I (25F) did not go to college for teaching. I went to a community college for a year and discovered that my heart was leading me towards art. Yes, I know, it's not the most practical degree. But I ignored the articles and my mother (64F) and transferred to a university where I spent the next few years working towards my Bachelor of Fine Arts, which I earned in December of 2020.
Leading up to my graduation, I started hunting for jobs that used my degree and was disheartened to not find any in my area. I won't specify where I am, but I live in one of the Southern States of the USA. The job market around here is very oil and gas, medical, sales and business, etc. It is very not artsy, and I started to doubt my choice in major, not for the first time. You see, back in my second year of college, I took an early childhood education course at my mother's request and decided that it wasn't for me after one too many booger-related incidents. So, when I was on the phone with a family friend who was a teacher, she suggested substitute teaching until I found what I was looking for -- since I already had some experience in the field through the one class I took.
I moved back in with my mother after graduating college and spent a couple of months job searching, with that substitute teaching job sitting in the back of my brain. It promised at least a little bit of income and a lot a bit of structure as I kept coming up with dead ends while looking for jobs in my artsy field. There was nothing in my city. There was nothing in my state. I didn't have the means to move out of state to go to New York or Los Angeles or Chicago.
So, I applied for the substitute teaching job and got it! I was happy. It was my first job ever, since my mother didn't want me working during college. I felt like a real adult for the first time.
The first job wasn't too bad. I was subbing for a first-grade class for a day and the kids were good. I didn't have any idea of what I was doing, but I read the instruction sheet that the teacher had left me and wrote behavior notes to leave for her.
The second job was awful. It was for a week for a Spanish class at one of the local high schools and absolutely no instructions were left for me. The teacher had been out for months, and they hadn't found a long-term sub or a replacement. The kids were rude and made snide remarks at me. Keep in mind, I was 22 at this time and some of these students were only three to four years younger than me. Only a couple of months before, I had been at school with kids their age. I didn't feel like I had control so I went next door to ask the Spanish teacher over there if she had some extra assignments I could give the kids. She literally said to me, "Figure out your own shit because I have shit to deal with, too." Which, fair. But, ouch.
The rest of the semester was much the same. Some good classes, but mostly bad ones. Getting lost in huge unfamiliar schools. Being berated by students and staff members. One principal waved me off and laughed in my face when I was done early for the day, and had asked if there was anything else I could do for them before I went home. One student raised his hand while I was giving instruction and asked if I "had head cancer since my forehead is so big." I had nightmares nightly about being in unfamiliar schools with never-ending hallways, students surrounding me, and unhelpful teachers and admin looking down at me and not helping.
The summer of '21 came and I was so grateful. Through one of my friends, I found a job at a local wine and craft shop where rich moms spent way too much money so their kids could slap paint down while the parents sipped on merlot at 11 AM. That store was its own mess that I won't get into too much. But long story short, I left the craft shop a couple of weeks into the new school year.
Once again, I was back into the fray of subbing. My energy levels were gone. My anger management was little to none. My relationship with my mother started to break down because I would come home, be snippy and short with her, and immediately go lay down. I was depressed and stuck in the constant loop of wake up, work, go home, sleep, dream of work, repeat. To break the monotony, I started writing a book during the downtime at work and after work at the library.
Then I saw a substitute request that changed everything. It was for a long-term position for an art class. My eyes lit up. Finally! A teaching job that involved my interests. I accepted the posting and they informed me that it would be for the rest of the school year. They also informed me that along with the two periods of art class, I would also be covering two periods of a video game design class and two periods of a code-writing class; both topics of which I have zero knowledge, but you don't have to know the topics to substitute for them. I was happy with the art classes and was elated to be able to actually write lesson plans, grade assignments, and have structure in the classroom since I would be there for an established period of time. Yes, there were issues with behavior, and I still had sleepless nights due to stress nightmares, but I had the book I was writing and the structure of being long-term, so I found a bit of a rhythm.
Most importantly, I was happy that the other teachers were nice. They took me under their wings and showed me the ropes. A few of them eventually asked the question, "Do you want to be a teacher?"
At this point of substitute teaching, I had a pre-loaded answer. Because there's no good way of saying, "Oh no, I hate the educational system and I think it's too flawed and substituting has been an active hell. But I'm staying in it because I'm too chickenshit to go back on the job market right now. And I don't want to leave my mother, who's now ailing, to move across the country to potentially fail at art." People would have looked at me as if I were insane if I had said all of that. So, I always said, "Maybe. I'm feeling it out by substituting."
Well, the school I was long-term subbing at had a hard time filling that position and had heard good recommendations from the other teachers about me. So, they offered me the job, without requiring me to get a teaching certificate. It was a significant pay raise. Instead of $1500/mo, if I was lucky, I would earn a guaranteed $4000/mo. And I would get health insurance.
I expressed doubts to my mother about taking the job full time. I still hated substitute teaching, and, at this point, I was making good headway on my book. I still had hopes of one day getting an arts-based job in our city or in another city in the state. She basically told me I needed a reality check. That no one loves their job, and that I was very lucky to get this well-paying job offer with benefits with the lack of skills I had. Of course, she broke it to me gentler than I'm summarizing here. But she convinced me that I should stay living with her, take the job, and start saving my money.
The next school year, '22-'23, I started my career as a teacher. I had 3 painting classes and 3 ESports classes, since our small district got rid of the video game design course. I was determined to do my best. I redecorated the room. Bought supplies. Organized the back computer lab portion of the room. Then, on the first day of school, I eagerly greeted my students.
The painting classes were amazing. Everything I could have dreamed. This was what I had trained for in college. This was the passion I had hoped to spread to my students... But then paint brushes would be snapped in half. Paint tubes would be left open to dry out. Screws would go missing from the easels rendering them useless. I would either have to pay for replacements out of my own pocket or submit a purchase request to the district that fell on deaf ears.
The ESports classes... were hell. Good god. I didn't know much about video games and video game culture going into this, but my eyes need bleach. My ears, too. Actually, let's go ahead and rinse off my whole brain. The slurs these kids would try to shout. The violence when they lost a match. They would slam their fists on the desks, they would physically punch each other or kick their chairs or unplug each other's computers in the middle of them running. And I didn't just sit there and watch it happen. I stood between angry students, I corrected foul language, I wrote so many office referrals my fingers were falling off. But the office never did anything. We weren't allowed to send kids out of the room. We weren't allowed to exclude them from class activities. If a parent protested an office referral, it would be thrown out all together and I would be the one asked to apologize to the child.
My eagerness soon turned to numbness. I started having stress nightmares again, but about my own classroom with my own students threatening me or threatening each other. When I mentioned my unhappiness to my mother, she said "This is what being an adult is." I fell further and further into depression. My only solace was writing my book.
My mother's health declined to the point of being hospitalized - first at a hospital, then at a mental hospital for about a month. I won't give details out of respect for her, but I thought that I was going to lose her in 2022. Then her sister died out of the blue and I, somehow by the grace of God, got her out of the mental hospital in time for the funeral. But my mom was never the same afterwards and retired from working. Our relationship was never the same, either. I think I resented her for encouraging me into teaching? Or maybe I resented her for getting sick? I don't know. I stopped talking to her as much and retreated into writing my book when I wasn't working.
Summer of '23 came and I finished writing the first draft of my book. I was elated. I thought, "Finally, here's what will get me out of teaching. I can publish this book, then work on a sequel or another book altogether!" I asked my mom to read it. She refused because she didn't like the genre and she didn't have the focus to finish a whole book. I threw myself into editing that summer, spending days in my room or at the library. I'll admit, I became hyper fixated. I talked about my book with my friends and cousins nonstop. I tried to bring it up to my mom. I thought I would become the next big success story.
The '23-'24 school year started and I was determined that I would find an agent by the end of the school year. I finished my second draft in November. I still struggled with work, but I honestly saw a glimpse of hope on the horizon. I knew going into the publishing industry would be a lot of work, but I desperately wanted out of teaching. I wanted out of my mom's house. I wanted to officially Start My Life.
January of this year changed everything. My mom and I were fighting, as we often did, and for the first time I got upset enough to stay at a friend's house for a few nights to clear my head and to let the atmosphere in the house air out. While at my friend's house, I started looking at some apartments downtown. I found a cute one. I felt bad about going behind my mom's back, but I wanted to start that mythical New Life of mine. It would be a few weeks until I could move, though. And I couldn't stay away from my mom forever. I tried to call her, and it went straight to voicemail. I got mad that she had let her phone die. So, I went home.
I found my mom dead in the living room. She had fallen asleep and never woken up. She died while we were fighting. Which, to be fair, we fought a lot, so it was only a matter of probability that that should happen. But it's still something that I scream about into the night. I call out for my mom, but she's not there. She's gone, and I feel like it was my fault. Because I was too depressed from my job to just sit with her after work instead of sleeping or writing. Because I was too wrapped up in trying to get away from my job to be with her in her final days.
I took off of work to plan the funeral. I cancelled the application for the apartment. I deleted my saved publishing agents. I withdrew from my writing group.
I eventually got back to work. My assistant principal called me in and informed me that, per district policy, I have to be written up for my 'excessive absences'. My only solace about that is that she tore up the write up after I started crying and told me not to worry about it.
My students were sympathetic, but not sympathetic enough to be decent human beings towards each other. Not even towards me. A student built a swastika in Roblox in class and threatened to kill me after I asked him to delete it.
I don't care about anything anymore. My mom wanted me to be secure with a good paying job with benefits, and I have that, no matter how miserable I am inside of it. She left me the house and a $50,000 life insurance policy that I don't know what to do with. I've never lived on my own so it's my first time in an empty house with just me and my dog. I feel like I made a deal with a genie -- you get what you asked for, but it's twisted into something horrible that you never wanted.
My family thinks I should sell the house, but the rental market is insane right now. I should know, I was too busy searching to be there for my mom. Besides, I don't want to sell her things. I don't want to sell the house we lived in together. Her bedroom walls are lined with the flowers from her funeral that I hung to dry. I sealed the room up like a tomb.
I go to work. I tell the kids what projects to work on. I sit there. I watch them. I'm numb. My book gathers dust on my hard drive.
I go home. I sit and stare at the spot where my mom died. I drink wine. I take my new antidepressants. I gorge myself on fast food. I die a bit inside each day.
To be honest, I don't know why I'm writing this. As a form of therapy? Perhaps. A confessional about how shitty I was to my mom? About how I'm failing her even in death? Another perhaps. All I know is that my life is hell whether I'm at work or at home now. I don't have any hopes for any 'new life' there may be for myself. I'm trapped in the monotonous hellish comfort of a steady paycheck.
I think my life ended the day I started substitute teaching. I just didn't know it.

2024.05.20 11:49 guiltyofnothing “Are you the lion? Can you breed me, alpha daddy?” A user has their rent increased and posts their landlord’s contact information to /r/Renters. Reddit lurches into action.

The Context:

Our drama takes place across two threads in /Renters, beginning with OOP posting a screenshot of a letter from their property manager informing them of a 100% rent increase.
OOP includes the property manager’s contact information in the screenshot and says they “felt comfortable enough to share this man [sic] information because he's a scumbag piece of shit.”
The sub quickly moves into action.

The Drama:

Some question OOP’s story:
I love how we are just taking the OP's word as truth, it's just as likely they did do $10k worth of damage Edit: when someone responds to you and then immediately blocks you it kind of illustrates that they know their point is weak at best.
Regardless, most landlords are scum.
Because they make you pay for the things you use?
Way too much, yes.
Just how much do you think the average landlord makes on a rental? I'm curious as to your thoughts, because I have actual numbers and I guarantee they are not nearly what you think.
Is this all Biden’s fault?
Welcome to Biden America 🤣
You advocating for socialist housing policies? More renters protections? More tenants rights? Congrats man you’re more a socialist than I am.
Guaranteed he doesn't get it. XD
Nah. Obviously you morons don't get it. Probably don't own real estate either🤣. That's what happens when the country is becoming a third world country due to the far left policies of America today. I'm not saying how the guy went about raising rents went, but it's happening everywhere. But, come back and try again tomorrow. Maybe you'll be a little smarter when you wake up.
Wake up to what? The fact that presidents don’t dictate rent prices? Why does a studio apartment in Kalamazoo cost 1/5 what it does in Manhattan? Why did Biden decide that?
[Continued:]
I didn't once mention the word president. I said the far left policies brought us to this point. So I see all you want to do is run your mouth, because you're blaming a president which I didn't do. Nice try though.
“Far left policies?” What specifically policies did the dems pass, that are considered “far left”, that cause landlords to raise rent prices more than inflation rates?
And you said “Biden America” so don’t play dumb now about not using the word President.
Hahaha, your low IQ is showing. I'm guessing 80 since you can spell, but that might just be a smartphone doing the heavy lifting.
Awe, did I trigger a snowflake? I see aim dealing with a keyboard warrior here, but would never say that to my face🤣. Get lost worm!
OOP is condemned:
Doxing is wrong. OP this is shameful.
Greed is wrong. Dox pieces of crap like this landlord more often any maybe then won't do shit like this.
Nah. It’s not only generally wrong it’s against reddits rules. It doesn’t matter what you think.
And no one CARES what YOU think about it. Go cry elsewhere
Others defend the property manager:
Doxxing isn't cool no matter the context bruh
Yes it is
You’re lame
No it's not but that isn't doxxing.
[…]
You know this guy is just working a job to pay his bills too? A property manager isn't going to fully control rent prices and if he does price it they have a responsibility to their client (the owner) to charge the market rate.
While it's a shame that rent is increasing for OP, this company sent a fair warning advanced notice to either expect to pay up or find another living arrangement.
This guy did nothing wrong, didn't deserve for the Internet to white knight attack him, and you are an asshole.
ehhh,...bullshit!, the problem here is this Asshole is jacking up the rent %100, like everyone is made of money you complainer-motherfucker, greed= you get what you get, and the rents are way the fuck out of control just like everything else.
Sorry to break it to you that owners of investment properties aren't developing projects to shelter people out of the goodness of their hearts.
I'm not saying the system doesn't have flawed or isn't tough on people, but as a renter you need to face the reality that your rights to the property do not go further than the lease contract you signed.
Oh, they're doing it for profit? Real profound statement, dipshit.
Hey man go buy some homes and give people deals. Or keep crying online your whole life.
Yes, that’s how people make money. Stay broke lil bro
[Continued:]
Yeah that was established by the OP genius. Most literate redditor right here, good lord lol
Looks like I hit a nerve broke boy
yawn
[…]
as a human being with morals intact, maybe your responsibility is to the owner. You still owe it to the people who rely on you and your client (the owner) for housing to not raise rent 100x. Maybe it's legal, but it is absolute scumbag behavior. Maybe you aren't a scumbag, but you picked a career where they flourish
not raise rent 100x
100x and 100% are completely different.
For all we know OP could have been locked into an extremely low rate on rent for the last ten years and this could be the first adjustment catching up to market rate. In a contract your only locked in for the length of the contract, and when that contract ends friendly reminder that you don't own the property nor have rights to it or in the future. Laws on rent increases vary based on area and there may not be anything illegal here.
While I wouldn't be happy if I was OP either due to the 100% increase being pretty significant, it's totally unreasonable to think you rent will never increase in the future.
Attacking a guy who had his personal info leaked on the Internet because you don't like the rental system is pretty pathetic behavior.
Simply put if you don't like renting go buy your own property where you don't have to deal with this.
Who the fuck is signing a 10 year lease for residential property?
Probably no one. Regardless your rights end with the lease expiration date in any circumstance.
[Continued:]
There's something incredibly basic that goes over your head, along with people who argue like you.
Your entire strategy here is to enumerate descriptive truths (e.g your rights end at X point, property managers have a fiduciary responsibility to serve landlords, etc.) to imply normative ones (e.g therefore the behavior of the property manager or landlord is justified).
This isn't how ethics works. If it was, then the Holocaust would be justified. What the Jews did was illegal, they existed during the Nazi regime, which meant they had no right to life. That's a descriptively true fact, they literally lacked the right to life, and Nazis could engage in the exact same game you are playing, enumerating descriptive truths about the political reality of Germany in 1942 to justify rounding up Jewish people.
Descriptive and normative truths are built up the same way (through axioms and logic). However, the legality of something does not universally indicate how ethical something is.
If you want to continue playing the game of listing descriptive facts about the world, I have a fun one for you. The commodification of housing materially harms the working class, and has done so to such an extent that peasant revolutions within the past 100 years have literally rounded up landlords and shot them dead because of how much harm they were causing. This didn't require decades or centuries of anti-landlord rhetoric to dehumanize landlords, because the harm landlords cause is real and can be felt by people. Sometimes, when a large group of people are harmed enough, they get frustrated and revolt against said harm. That's a real risk landlords should realize they're engaging in, they tend to feel safe because the State backs the interests of the bourgeoisie, but that's not always necessarily going to be the case.
Thanks man I'm obviously going to rethink my stance that people shouldn't be doxxing this guy
You said a lot more than just an anti-doxxing stance. If all you said was "damn I wish this dude wanted doxxed", I wouldn't have bothered to comment. You mentioned a property manager's responsibility to serve the interests of the landlord. You mentioned your rights to the property ending with the expiration of the lease. These descriptively true facts were done to imply the landlord/property manager were behaving justly and didn't deserve to get doxxed.
Whether they deserve it or not, when one group consistently engages in harming another group, sometimes the other group fights back. The working class has very few avenues for actually fighting back against this sort of thing, and most of the tactics in this thread generally boil down to moderately annoying the landlord. They'll still evict the tenant, the tenant will still potentially become homeless because of housing commodification. The harm is still being done, and the landlord is benefitting from it.
Worse things have happened to landlords for engaging in this behavior, and they can happen again. It's not a game worth playing for anyone. It'd be best for everyone if landlords just fucked off and stopped scalping houses, but they won't. And peasants don't generally put up with this shit indefinitely.
Well damn man I wish that dude wasn't doxxed.
I appreciate the six paragraphs you wrote me and apologize if the economic model we have (that neither of us can change) has somehow hurt you today.
Yes, nobody can change economic models, yet they somehow change anyway, weird. It's almost as though the base-structure informs the super-structure, and as the contradictions of capitalism intensify, material harm skyrockets, people "radicalize" (see what used to be externalized costs actually internalized). Conversations are part of this change, the introduction of language and ideas allows people to navigate and reason about the harm they're feeling, and correctly place the blame, which is incredibly important.
If you look at the fascist movement in the U.S, you'll commonly see they actually agree on what's harming them (this is easy to tell). Rising prices (rent, groceries, etc.), shit pay, no control in decision making. However, they misunderstand the system.
People like you have baked capitalist realism into their heads (the system is immutable, this is the true way of the world, there's no reason to think or discuss an alternative because it's unreasonable), so they don't even consider that capitalism is the problem.
Instead they blame the Mexicans "not sending their best", or how LGBT communities are "attacking traditional values". They look for ways the world is changing, and assume that change is what's causing the harm they're feeling. You're an important part of the fascist pipeline, and even if you're not a fascist yourself, I'd suggest you get your head out of your ass before we literally live in a fascist dictatorship and this shit is illegal to discuss. Liberalism has many times devolved into fascism to prevent socialism. Bourgeoisie interests operate fine in fascist environments, so they'd prefer to move in that direction instead of something that actually fixes class contradictions.
[Continued:]
Your right we should totally be cool with OP getting hundreds of redditors to harass this property managers personal life about an issue we all literally don't even know the full story of, because fascism.
Dude I'm going to stay out of this subreddit and genuinely wish you all well please try not to go postal next time rent increases.
At no point did I greenlight anyone's actions, and you responded to none of my points. Stop fabricating a strawman to justify your own position.
Hey man if you actually have the capacity to talk about what I'v been talking about the entire time I'll chat.
Please don't respond with anything about Hitler, bourgeoisie, fascism, economic disparity, or assumptions you have about me.
What do you think about OP getting hundreds of people to harass the personal life of this guy over something we all have limited info on a single side of the story. Justified or unjustified?
You discussed tenant rights, property manager responsibility, and even directly alluded to capitalist realism. It's an incredibly unfair tactic to mention all of these things, then the moment you get a rational response dismantling every one of your points, move the goalposts and back down from every point you've made in this entire thread except one.
Like everyone can scroll up and read, you're not fooling anyone into thinking your only point has been anti-doxxing. You just lack the capacity to have a genuine conversation, so you'll simply retreat from every point you've made instead of considering that maybe you were wrong.
I think what the OP is doing is harmful, but not as harmful as what the landlord did. I don't have enough information to say if it was justified or not, and neither do you. Sometimes harmful things can be done and they can be justified, especially in retaliation. I can list off a ton of extreme examples that are potentially justified but far more harmful than what either of these people are doing.
Well at least we agree what OP is doing is harmful.
Now I guess we need to ask should we or should we not harass real life people based on unverifiable stories from anonymous people online?
Sorry if you didn't like how I laid it all out. But i think not liking the realities of the rental systems isn't good enough justification to get hundreds of people to harass someone over what could potentially be a fabricated story, but that's just me.
[Continued:]
Most reasonable diamond hands joker
You said you were leaving.
Is a rent increase ever justified?
Fuck apartment complexes! They raise it for zero reason and have no idea what they’re doing.
No reason, like higher taxes, higher demand, higher insurance rates, higher trash fees, higher utilities, on and on.
Tell me you don't pay your own bills, without telling me you don't pay your own bills.
Maybe these cooperate assholes should pay their own bills
They do.
Hahaha you’re trying to sell airbnb management and consultation, dude go read the book of matthew and become a better human.
”Rentoid”:
Ah yes, doxxing. Classy 👌
found the wannabe landlord
like ahh, yes, let’s be offended that the exploiter might face consequences for their actions
lol
Yea what do you expect from a rentoid sub lmao
tf is a rentoid what 😭
A term for renters used by toxic landlords and homeowners that believe themselves superior to people who rent.
they've got bootlicking down to a science i tell ya
[…]
No not really. Everyone in this sub admitting they are calling and texting him and harassing him online need to be more careful. And grow tf up
This guy deepthroats the whole boot
Child response. I'm sorry you willfully signed your lease and no one forced you too. Grow up
Haha 🤣 if I cared what you thought I’d ask how the shoe polish tastes. It’s honestly not even doxxing. That’s a letter they sent, with facts they provided, and a public number to be contacted at. Op is under no obligation to protect the management company from their own stupidity.

Our drama now shifts to a second thread where another user posts a screenshot of their texts to the property manager.

Some people question OOP’s story:
So we’re just taking OP’s word that this actually happened? And the phone number on that letter is really his landlord? The low IQ Reddit mob mentality at its finest.
Google is your friend
I too can write a bullshit letter, stick a business’s phone number, screencap it and karma farm on Reddit. Unlike OP I’m not an idiot.
Sounds like you wrote the letter, mate.
You are making me rather confident in the assumption
[Continued:]
I can tell you blindly accept whatever OP posts on Reddit. Easily manipulated.
What are you talking about lol. Why are you so angry at a box of lights. Go to bed, or at least take a nap.
Same to you buddy. I’m baffled why you’re getting active over me calling out the truth.
[…]
Bro chill
The lack of critical thinking on this sub is mind blowing.
It’s not about critical thinking, it’s about sending a message.
Sending a message on the premise that OP is being honest? If OP put your phone number there I bet you’d be singing a different tune.
[…]
Google the number. It belongs to that business
So we’re assuming the landlord wrote that letter? If you look at their properties nothing even comes close to the rents OP is claiming.
I think OP has successfully trolled you and a hundred other people.
Subreddits get shut down for this tho.
Is this all doxxing?
Oh man so you sent the landlord specific information about the person who posted it… so now he can go after them legally for “doxxing” him? 😬🫠🤔 who’s side are you on lol
Sharing a document you are a party to online that isn’t under NDA isn’t doxxing. OP didn’t ask Reddit to harass the landlord in the original thread. There’s nothing here to worry about since he’s not renewing his lease there.
Unless the landlord is in the….mob
OP said (in the text): "I felt comfortable enough to share this man(s) information because he's a scumbag piece of shit"
As any lawyer would tell you, intent matters, esp. in civil cases. -or- more pragmatically as any competent lawyer would tell you, if you're sweating $1k/month in rent, don't bank on legal technicalities to save the day when intentionally picking fights with entities with the capital to buy buildings.
The number is publicly available, you could literally say "please say nasty things to this number" and it would still be completely legal and any claim against it would be immediately laughed out of court.
I don’t know why you keep posting stuff similar to this. The behavior that you’re stating is completely legal is 100% not legal in Pennsylvania, where the area code for the number comes back to.
Harrassment is not legal behavior. And (3) engages in a course of conduct or repeatedly commits acts which serve no legitimate purpose, is language that could be used to define what’s going on here. It could also qualify under 4, 5, and 6.
[Continued:]
The behavior that you’re stating is completely legal is 100% not legal in Pennsylvania, where the area code for the number comes back to.
No lol.
Harrassment is not legal behavior. And (3) engages in a course of conduct or repeatedly commits acts which serve no legitimate purpose, is language that could be used to define what’s going on here. It could also qualify under 4, 5, and 6.
Read the definition you just posted lol, OP did not do anything remotely quantifiable as harassment, he just posted the publicly available number, if OP is spamming offensive messages or something to the landlord sure but that is categorically not what is visible here. Further a customer complaint and warning is a legitimate purpose and is well established as protected speech thousands of times over. Unless you knowingly lie in a review you are protected completely. "This company sucks don't rent from them and here is their publicly available contact info" is completely indisputably first amendment protected speech everywhere in the US.
It is extremely funny that you would post evidence of yourself being wrong.
People have been calling and texting the number and some even stated that their calls and texts have been answered. The person who is answering is apparently the ownelandlord. That person is being harassed. Look at the comments describing what people are sending him. Pictures of their asses and random shit talk. That does not count as a customer review or a complaint.
All of that communication has been facilitated through the OP, who also stated that they intentionally left the contact information because they believe the landlord is an asshole.
Maybe stick to legal issues in Australia instead of trying to incorrectly educate Americans about our first amendment. Freedom of speech is not freedom to blow up someone’s phone because you don’t agree with their business practices. Even if they are unethical and shitty.
Others upbraid people for ruining OOP’s life:
Congrats on fucking up OPs life even worse. Hope you step on a lego and learn to not text random numbers and step into a situation you were never a part of.
hands you a box of tissue
What do you mean?
By texting the number, it could be considered outing the OOP for Doxxing which is illegal.
OOP could potentially be in legal trouble now because they forgot to edit out the contact information and posted it and people decided to text the number.
Attacks become misogynistic:
As a woman, I’d never be ok with you doing this unsolicited to anyone. But I’m having a really hard time having an issue with this landlord asshole looking at your asshole. 🤷🏻‍♀️
As a woman, you should be in the kitchen.
Aww, bless your heart. I know it’s hard, but just know, that with an attitude like that, you’ll die alone because no woman will want you. But, you already know that 💕💕 here’s hoping you learn to have a personality beyond misogyny before it’s too late!
He hasn’t had pussy since it had him. No worries there.
God you're limp.

I recently got my hands on this stylish Celine hat, and I must say, it's been quite a game-changer in my wardrobe. The first time I wore it, I received so many compliments from friends and strangers alike. The hexagonal design and adjustable feature make it super comfortable to wear, while the vibrant brown color adds a perfect touch of sophistication.
Its French origin is evident not just in the superior quality of the material but also in the intricate detailing and innovative design. However, one drawback I've noticed is how sometimes the adjustable strap tends to loosen up after prolonged use, but it's a minor inconvenience that doesn't take away from the hat's overall charm. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this Celine hat for anyone looking to add a touch of class and elegance to their outfit.

🔗Celine Beige Embroidered Baseball Cap for Women

https://preview.redd.it/myxr87f1gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=093b65c0bd590eb7390f2cbe6a4b0b16f4025966
I recently got my hands on the Celine Baseball Cap in Cotton in Beige, and I must say, it's an absolute game-changer! . The stunning embroidery and hexagonal design are the first things you'll notice – they give the cap that 'wow' factor. What I really appreciated was the adjustable tab, which ensures a perfect fit no matter your head size.
However, be aware that because it's made in France, it may have a slightly heftier price tag than you're used to. All in all, this hat has been a stylish and comfortable addition to my wardrobe, and I can't wait to see how many more compliments I receive wearing it! .

🔗Céline Men's Embroidered Visor Cap - Black

https://preview.redd.it/hc0chos1gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae5ad50d30e1b7c231fd192404afbe3d05f03f38
I recently got my hands on the Celine Baseball Cap in Cotton - Black, and boy, it has been a game-changer for me! This stylish yet simple cap provides the perfect touch of effortless cool to any outfit. The hexagonal design on the visor adds just the right amount of detail, making it stand out without being too flashy. The adjustable tab ensures a comfortable fit, and I love that it's made in France - it has that extra touch of quality that I look for in fashion items.
However, I must admit that the cap isn't perfect. The sizing can be a bit tricky, so I'd advise trying it on before purchasing, or checking the size chart carefully. Additionally, the price point is a bit steep for a baseball cap, but the overall design and quality make it worth the investment if you're a Céline fan.
In summary, the Celine Baseball Cap in Cotton - Black is a stylish and well-made addition to any wardrobe. Its unique design and adjustable fit make it a versatile and comfortable choice for both casual and dressier occasions. Just be sure to pay close attention to sizing, and be prepared to spend a little extra for this luxurious accessory.

I recently got my hands on this elegant baseball cap from Celine, and it's been my go-to accessory ever since. The initial patch adds a unique touch to this timeless design, making it stand out from other caps I've seen. The adjustable strap ensures a perfect fit, no matter how my hair feels on any given day.
However, the black color does tend to fade slightly after some time in the sun. Overall, this sleek and stylish cap is a must-have for anyone who appreciates high-quality accessories.

🔗Celine Classic Beige Hat - L

https://preview.redd.it/u50v9nk2gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a72c8b38bab0e19e554297a4930ed137673ea82b
When I first discovered this stylish Celine baseball cap, I knew I had to add it to my collection. The combination of beige and brown creates a timeless color palette that complements almost any outfit. As a fan of Celine's clean and minimalistic designs, I was thrilled by the hexagonal pattern and the subtle, yet bold embroidery.
Made in France, it's clear that this cap boasts unmatched quality. The adjustable tab ensures the perfect fit every time while maintaining the cap's polished appearance.
The one caveat is the price - it's quite expensive for a headgear. However, the limited edition nature, combined with the impeccable craftsmanship, makes it worth considering for those seeking a unique and enduring accessory.

🔗Céline Triomphe Cotton Baseball Cap - Women's M

https://preview.redd.it/lnlbt3w2gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfffacea8b66428af3c2ffeb595e1c421d51f9d9
As a stylish woman who loves to rock hats in my everyday outfits, I recently had the opportunity to try on the Celine Triomphe Baseball Cap in White. This cap instantly added a chic and sporty flair to my look, making it the perfect choice for casual outings or laid-back weekends. Crafted from high-quality cotton, this hat was not only comfortable to wear but also maintained its shape even after multiple wears.
The highlight of this cap has to be the intricate Triomphe pattern embroidered along the visor, giving it a classic and timeless appeal. However, I did find the sizing to be a bit of a con, as the Medium size I chose felt slightly tight. Overall, the Celine Triomphe Baseball Cap in White is an elegant and versatile addition to my hat collection, offering stylish protection from the sun while making me look effortlessly chic.

🔗Céline Wool Ribbed Beanie - Black

https://preview.redd.it/3g0tsha3gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c1157b0bcb76650ed560fe781b907db200037ad2
I recently got my hands on the Celine Beanie in Ribbed Wool - Black for Men, and I have to say, it's a game-changer in my Winter wear. The subtle ribbing not only adds texture but also provides an extra layer of insulation against the chill. Unlike many other beanies, this one doesn't suffocate my head or make me sweat; it's light and breathable, yet surprisingly warm.
One feature that stands out is its versatility. Whether I'm out running errands or going for a casual stroll, it pairs perfectly with both casual and semi-formal outfits. The black color is neutral enough to match almost anything, and the ribbed design gives it a unique touch that sets it apart from other beanies.
However, one minor drawback is that it doesn't offer much protection against the wind. On really blustery days, I find myself needing to combine it with a hood or a scarf for added protection. But overall, the Celine Beanie has been my go-to choice for staying stylish and warm in these colder months.

🔗Céline Classic Wool/Cashmere Hat - Beige

https://preview.redd.it/s7jsp8o3gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db243fb99f585e7952c904f58a66699cc892d550
My winter mornings have become so much easier since I got my hands on this luxurious Triomphe Cap by Celine. The blend of wool and cashmere provides a perfect balance of warmth and comfort. This cap has quickly become my go-to accessory on those chilly days.
The beige color is versatile and matches almost all my outfits. A minor drawback, though, is that it sheds a bit, but the softness and coziness make up for it. Overall, I'm absolutely loving this Celine hat! .

🔗Celine Initial Blue Hat

https://preview.redd.it/dhv36044gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=398d943db3de78e87378b50d6cb1089fd5b705bc
As a reviewer who's been sporting the Céline Initial Baseball Cap in Blue (Size M) for men, I can't emphasize enough how this hat has made a statement in my daily attire. The intricate hexagonal design stands out - a nod to the brand's classic style. The adjustable strap ensures a comfortable fit while maintaining its effortless and cool look.
However, as a con, it may not be that suitable for a very hot day, as cotton can feel a bit warm. But don't worry, it's the perfect companion for a stroll around town or a casual outing with friends. Overall, the Céline Initial Baseball Cap is a stylish addition to your accessories that adds charisma to every outfit.

🔗Céline Triomphe Beige Baseball Cap - Women's Size M

https://preview.redd.it/0oj7o2k4gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b519b089a15e2e2fa71e7211cbf537e49bc0b37
As a fashion enthusiast, I have recently added the Celine Triomphe Baseball Cap to my wardrobe collection. The beige and brown color combination is perfect for elevating any outfit, while the adjustable tab ensures a comfortable fit that suits various head sizes.
The highlight of this hat is undoubtedly its stunning Triomphe patch, which adds a touch of elegance and exclusivity to the overall design. Moreover, the hexagonal pattern on the cap adds a unique flair that sets it apart from other traditional baseball caps. However, one downside is that the fabric might feel slightly stiff at first, but it does soften up with time.
Made in France, this cap exudes quality and craftsmanship that is hard to come by nowadays. Despite not having any other reviews available for this product, I am confident that it will be a favorite in my collection due to its classic appeal and versatile nature.
For those who desire a blend of chic style and sporty functionality, the Celine Triomphe Baseball Cap is definitely worth considering. Its combination of timeless elegance and modern design makes it a perfect accessory for any wardrobe.

🔗Celine Striped Flannel Baseball Cap - M

https://preview.redd.it/hyfe43w4gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d700243d5881d8eb9bfe424d4763eac54995a96
As a fashion enthusiast, I recently got my hands on this Céline Baseball Cap, and I must say, it's been an absolute game-changer. The grey and black striped flannel fabric provides a subtle hint of casual chic, making it perfect for both casual outings and smart-casual events.
The 7cm visor helps keep the sun out of my eyes, while the adjustable tab ensures a perfect fit every time. The hexagonal pattern and the Céline embroidery are a great nod to the brand's heritage without going overboard on the logo-driven trend. The only downside is that it's made in France, which may be a tad expensive for some.
Overall, I can't recommend this stylish cap enough! .

🔗Céline Aran Mohair Wool Beret in White for Women

https://preview.redd.it/70jbfia5gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77190cdc2b24802ae2ece27b1ff59b894860c85a
In the heart of winter, there's something undeniably charming about pulling on a soft, warm beret. I recently got my hands on the Celine's Beret in Aran Mohair Wool. It's a stylish yet practical piece, offering both fashion and function. The off-white color adds a classic touch, perfect for pairing with any outfit.
One of the standout features of this piece is the Aran Mohair Wool it's made from. It's incredibly soft, providing excellent insulation against the cold. I was pleasantly surprised by how warm it kept my ears. However, one downside to this quality is that the wool might be too warm for milder temperatures.
The design is simple yet elegant, with a slightly oversized fit that gives it a modern twist. But, this might be a little too slouchy for some heads. Despite that, I find the loose fit charming and stylish.
Overall, the Celine's Beret in Aran Mohair Wool is a versatile piece that provides both style and comfort. It's perfect for keeping your ears warm during those frosty winter days.

🔗Celine Women's Vanille/Gris/Taupe Triomphe Bucket Hat in Checked Wool

https://preview.redd.it/z2ekvvt5gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a678d99c209ff314c4cd99373ced97bddb2f14da
I recently added the Celine Triomphe Bucket Hat in Checked Wool to my wardrobe, and it's become one of my favorite go-to accessories for stylish protection from the sun. The grey, brown, and beige check pattern adds a playful twist to the classic bucket hat design, while its medium size ensures a comfortable fit that won't swallow my face.
One aspect that blew me away was the hat's material. The checked wool feels incredibly soft against my skin, while its breathability keeps me from overheating. Even on days where I've been caught in the rain, this hat has held up impressively well due to its top-notch construction.
However, there's one drawback I've noticed with this hat. Its larger size means it doesn't fold as compactly as my other hats do. But honestly, who folds their Celine hat, right? Overall, it's a stylish and comfortable addition to my collection that I can't see myself parting with anytime soon.

🔗Céline Earflap Chapka in Brown Monogram

https://preview.redd.it/nhlzi026gi1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f07e7584580919699605ad6add3f224ee31f096
I've been using this stylish and elegant Céline Brown Monogrammed Chapka during my daily strolls and it's been a game-changer. The plush and warm lambskin shearling ear flaps provide a perfect protection against the harsh winter winds, while the high-quality leather material makes it durable and chic.
The adjustable tabs with distinctive D-ring hardware make it effortless to find the right fit, and the hexagonal visor design offers a unique touch. Made in France, this 100% cotton, 50% cotton, 50% polyamide lined chapka not only keeps me cozy but also adds a sophisticated air to my winter wardrobe. The only downside is that it's a limited edition, so getting your hands on one might be a bit challenging! .

How should I store my Céline hat to ensure it lasts longer?

To prolong the life of your Céline hat, store it flat or on a round, padded hat form to maintain its shape. If storing multiple hats, consider investing in a hatbox or cabinet to keep dust and other elements away from the materials.

How do I clean my Céline hat?

The cleaning method for Céline hats depends on the materials used. For straw hats, gently brush off any dirt or debris with a soft-bristled brush. Wool hats can be spot-cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap, but avoid soaking them as this may damage the fabric. Beanies and other knitted items may require hand-washing with cold water and mild detergent, but always check the care label on your specific item.

What size should I choose for my Céline hat?

Céline hats generally come in one size that fits most, but some styles, such as beanies, may be designed to accommodate a range of head sizes. If unsure about sizing, consult the product description or size chart for further information. If possible, try on the hat in-store or ask for help from a sales associate to ensure the best fit.

How can I tell if a Céline hat is authentic?

  • Examine the stitching and construction of the hat - authentic Céline items are expertly crafted with high-quality materials and precise workmanship.
  • Be wary of discounted prices that seem too good to be true, as they may indicate a counterfeit product.
  • Check the logo on the hat for accuracy - authentic Céline hats will feature a clean and crisp logo with properly aligned letters.

Where can I purchase Céline hats?

Céline hats can be purchased online through the official Céline website or authorized retailers, as well as in-store at Céline boutiques around the world.

Does Céline offer customer support for their hat products?
