I was very satisfied with almost everything I ate this trip! My stomach and I were very pleased.
Here's a very brief and probably not very informative review on some of the places we ate at, and an arbitrary rating upon 5 that considers taste, price, and might possibly also be affected by my mood on that day and the weather. (I never claimed to be a professional reviewer)

• Monkey Bar (4.1) - Not bad! I prefer the burger over the french dip, which was a bit too salty for my taste, but my friends preferred the latter.
• Raoul's (4.2) - Burger good, better than Monkey Bar. Steak yummy too.
• Keens (4) - Tasty and tender but the beef left this super strange and grainy texture on our teeth, we all had to go back and brush
• St. Anselm (4.7) - My fav steak place of the bunch. My friends preferred Keens though.
• Laserwolf (4.6) - Really yummy tbh! Maybe not worth the price but still good.
• 4 Horsemen (4.5) - Not bad, not excccceeptional.
• Sixty Three Clinton (4.8) - So good and so worth it! Although honestly all of the addons can be skipped - it's perfect without and the addons kinda make the meal too heavy. They gave me a free drink too which was nice!
• Atoboy (4.5) - Pretty yummy and not expensive, but it also didn't really taste fine. A lot of thick, creamy, dishes that children and picky eaters would enjoy. Still a good meal!
• Thirteen Water (4.8) - Really good and inexpensive omakase. I'm usually skeptical of non-traditional additions (foiegras, caviar, truffle, etc.) but nothing was overdone and the flavours were all balanced. The Hokkaido uni tasted much better than the local uni I had at Atoboy.
• Raku (5) - SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. For us, the broth in the simple bowls (kitsune, wakame) was much nicer than the broth in the iron pots (niku)!
• Xi'an (1) - We're Chinese so this might be too critical but the texture of the noodles was hard and dry, the flavour was very 1 dimensional, the meat wasn't tender or tenderised, the dumpling filling was bland, and the dumpling skin was unacceptably thick. But I saw some fellow Chinese recommending it too so we might just have different preferences!
• Chipotle (4.3) - I'd heard that they were stingy and the quality dropped a lot but I thought the portions were HUGE and everything tasted pretty good! They were so generous with everything, especially the pork. Wonder what it used to be like if this is the downgraded version
• Joe's Pizza (4.3) - Tasty, not bad not amazing
• L'Industrie Pizza (4.7) - Yummy! Def better than Joe's. I might have rated it higher but I saw the person who ordered after us get a slice with a lot more toppings so that might have made me slightly sad
• Los Tacos (4) - Yummy but is it just me or is it really expensive for what it's worth.......
• Yellow Rose (4.7) - I didn't see this place recommended in any of the popular lists but it appeared in the Michelin guide and I just booked it cause it was cheap but this was really delicious! But also I live a bajillion miles from Mexico so I'm definitely not the best gauge - idk anything about Mexican food
• Katz's (4) - My friends liked it but it was too salty for me! They're really generous with the samples though, the carver kept cutting more and more and somehow it's yummier when you grab the fresh slices and eat it there (instead of in the sandwich). It's just the vibe.
• Lysee (4.7) - Delicioussssss but the prix fixe was way too much for 2 girls (especially between a heavy lunch and before a heavy dinner). I especially love the corn and the Lysee bc they're so unique and taste so distinctly Asian. The kouign amann and strawberry tart were delicious too, but if I had limited stomach space I'd pick the other two!
• Levain (4.6) - People suggested skipping this place but it pulled through! Really good cookie I loved it, but it's too expensive imo. Still worth a try.
• Magnolia Bakery (3) - Skippable

And that's all the places that I remember for now! Not sure if anyone will read this but I got a lot of recommendations when I asked for them and I'm so grateful for them, so I thought I might as well come back with the feedback 😗

Genuinely speaking, I am not shaming her, like at all, because I will admit, I was so lodged far up Taylor’s arse for over a decade I couldn’t even see the sun, and I would defend her blaming purely the men, but now, it’s hard to still condone them only.
Not even just Taylor: I witnessed this with a loosely quotation marks here… Ex of mine, and how rapidly ”my ex” moved. One thing about my ex is, they admitted they hate being alone and the next person they ran to after they played them like toy they tried to downplay that brief situtationship as them being easy, and only just a body that was warm to be next to. Yeah, ok.
Now bringing it back to Taylor, it’s interesting cause you’ve never seen her ever fully alone after a breakup. I think the (loose quotations) “longest” was after she split with Jake Gyllenhaal. Everyone else she either was briefly seeing someone BTS casually, or high profile and quickly then it burns out fast and her painting them as the love of her life, repeatedly. Even before Joe was “the one” she was doing the same with Calvin Harris.
Then you see Joe, and it’s been interesting because normally (stereotypically) it’s the guy who dated a girl long term, won‘t settle with them, then immediately after they breakup, run & marry off someone in the span of a few months.
Instead of him falling into that stereotype, it’s been Taylor, while he for the majority of what we know, has been pretty much single (he might be seeing someone as of now) and it’s been a whole year.
**To summarise this whole post:**
Why does Taylor monkey branch, or relationship hop all the time? And why do people do this in general, especially boasting the next person repeatedly as “the one” …?
And another unpopular opinion, but the fact that Joe hasn’t quickly moved on, tells me he copes healthily and genuinely truly did love her.

The timeline of when people arrived has shifted earlier in grudging steps over the past century, and scientists today mostly agree people were in the Americas at least 15,000 years ago. Lowery’s site and others like it could revise the story again, pushing back the timeline earlier than most experts thought possible. In total, Lowery and a motley crew of collaborators have discovered 286 artifacts from the site on the island’s southwestern edge. The oldest, they reported, was embedded with charcoal dated to more than 22,000 years ago, a time when much of the continent would have been covered in ice sheets. If Lowery is right, Parsons Island could rewrite American prehistory, opening up a host of new puzzles: How did those people get here? How many waves of early migration were there? And are these mysterious people the ancestors of Native Americans?

(Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) New claims of sites dated this far back face a wall of skepticism, rooted in legitimate scientific scrutiny and in the threat they pose to long-entrenched views. To complicate matters, Lowery — who has been affiliated with the Smithsonian but does much of his work independently — presented the results of his study of Parsons Island in a 260-page manuscript posted online rather than in a traditional peer-reviewed journal. The peer-review process is designed to help validate scientific claims, but Lowery argues that in archaeology it often leads to a circle-the-wagon mentality, allowing scientists to wave away evidence that doesn’t support the dominant paradigm. He says he isn’t seeking formal publishing routes because “life’s too short,” comparing this aspect of academic science to “the dumbest game I’ve ever played.”
The island is also a challenging site to study for a variety of reasons — most poignantly because it is rapidly eroding as the land subsides and sea level rises. The spot where the artifacts were found is now covered by the choppy waters of the bay. “The visit reinforced my will to invest my time into this time period, because it’s a very fragile record,” said Sebastien Lacombe, an archaeologist at Binghamton University, who visited the island in 2017. “It’s at risk of disappearing, and we’re at risk of [allowing] these sites and artifacts to lose their meaning forever.” ‘A weirdo kid’

(Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Lowery began exploring the Chesapeake shoreline as a child, wandering his backyard on Tilghman Island, about 15 miles southwest from Parsons Island. In 1977, 9-year-old Lowery picked up a distinctive fluted stone projectile point. A few years later, he saw something similar on a documentary on public television, in which a Smithsonian archaeologist explained it was a Clovis point, a relic of what most people then believed were the first Americans. For the last half of the 20th century, the peopling of the Americas followed a tidy narrative. Humans traveled from Siberia across a land bridge that connected Asia and North America during the last Ice Age, when sea levels dropped. They then migrated southward around 13,000 years ago, when the ice sheets covering the continent retreated and exposed a previously impassable inland route. These people — named after a site in Clovis, N.M. — left behind distinctive, fluted stone points that have since been found scattered across North America. Story continues below advertisement
Lowery turned to his dad and said, “I found one of those.” He found more by walking the shoreline every day. Lowery made discoveries as he meandered, and he began to understand how seasonal patterns, sediment movement, wind and waves could unearth ancient treasures. “I was a weirdo kid,” he recalled. He trained as a geologist, and it was geology that initially attracted Lowery to study Parsons Island. In 2010, he published an article in Quaternary Science Reviews describing layers of windblown silt deposited between 13,000 and 41,000 years ago at Miles Point in eastern Maryland. But the geological record is like reading the CliffsNotes version of a book, and he was frustrated by an “unconformity” in the sediment layers where thousands of years were missing, like someone had ripped out those chapters.

(Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Lowery and a colleague were prowling around in a whaler, looking for a spot that might fill in the blanks, when they spotted a black streak of sediment rising up out of the bay. They pulled up to Parsons Island and thought they had found “the Rosetta stone” to decode the geology. Parsons is a 78-acre island less than a mile offshore that is privately owned by the Corckran family, which uses it as a family retreat. With the Corckrans’ permission, Lowery and colleagues began to visit regularly. The bluff layers preserved a remarkably intact geologic timeline going back more than 40,000 years. Then, one morning in August 2013, the team discovered a leaf-shaped prehistoric stone tool jutting out of this crumbling wall. They knew from the work they’d already done that it was probably quite old. Story continues below advertisement
On a recent visit to the island, geoarchaeologist Daniel Wagner demonstrated why. He stepped back to scan the cliff, then tapped a narrow spade into a light tan sediment layer just above his head. That, he said, is the geologic “chapter” where they’d expect to find Clovis artifacts. Lower layers were set down before Clovis. The palm-size tool Lowery and his colleague found came out of the dark sediment layer near their knees. The scientists used two methods to date the sediment around the artifact, both showing it was more than 20,000 years old. They scoured the beach on 93 visits and conducted a formal, top-down excavation, collecting the 286 artifacts. They sent out sediment to labs that specialize in studying ancient pollen and microfossils called phytoliths to help reconstruct the ecosystem at the time. Back then, this region wouldn’t have been a coastline. The sediment the tools are embedded in dates to the “last glacial maximum” — the scientific term for the most recent coldest period of the Ice Age. In the final analysis, Lowery thinks the artifacts may have been transported downslope before they were buried, making them between 15,000 and 20,500 years old. “This was a swale, where water was collecting,” Lowery said, envisioning the ancient landscape. “You’ve got a dune. It’s got sedges and small trees on it that are windblown and all contorted, and then behind it you’ve got a little pond.” That pond may have attracted prehistoric bison, musk ox and llamas, whose fossilized molars he’s found scattered on the island shore. And it may have been what attracted the mysterious people who left behind a cache of stone tools. A story in flux

But while the long-held “Clovis First” theory has crumbled over the past three decades, that has only deepened the debate about how much earlier the first Americans arrived. Claims of early sites present a challenge on two fronts. The first is technical: Dating a site convincingly can be difficult, depending on the context. Sediments can shift or be disturbed. What at first look like artifacts can turn out to be “geofacts,” created not by humans but by natural processes or animals. As a result, many pre-Clovis sites “enjoy a Warhol-esque 15 minutes of fame, and then they disappear” because of real problems with the geology or the methods, said archaeologist James Adovasio. In 1973, he began excavating Meadowcroft Rockshelter in Pennsylvania, which dated back 16,000 years. It was instantly mired in controversy, and the site still has its critics today. The second challenge reflects the culture of science. For a long time, people who claimed to find pre-Clovis sites were swimming upstream against deeply entrenched thinking. Tom Dillehay, an archaeologist at Vanderbilt University, began working on a site in southern Chile called Monte Verde in 1977, which was dated to 14,500 years ago. He recalled a group of researchers he calls the “Clovis police,” scientific gatekeepers who summarily rejected any pre-Clovis sites, sometimes for valid reasons and sometimes as a knee-jerk reaction. Monte Verde began to change that. In 1997, a group of respected archaeologists visited the site and declared it authentic. “It took about 25 to 30 years for Monte Verde to be accepted,” Dillehay said. “We went through hell.”

He noted that he drew on multiple labs and methods for dating the Parsons Island artifacts in an effort to ensure that any one extremely old date isn’t a fluke. He’s also invited other researchers in to visit and study the site. That approach irritates some scientists. David Meltzer, an archaeologist at Southern Methodist University, said in an email that he would not discuss Lowery’s claims “until they go through the wringer of peer review and get published.” Others like Stuart Fiedel, an independent archaeologist based in western Massachusetts who has been skeptical of other sites, say the site should not fly under the radar just because of Lowery’s unconventional process. “There are people I know in the field who will not pay any attention to it, because it has not been peer-reviewed, which I think is kind of sticking your head in the sand,” Fiedel said. “It’s there. We can’t act as [if] nothing’s been found there.” Share this article Share
A bigger issue may be the site’s rapid erosion. Most of the artifacts were found after they’d fallen out of the bluff, which means their place in the geologic timeline is obscured. Nine artifacts were found in place, and only three were able to be dated using charcoal flecks found next to them. Steven Forman, a geoscientist at Baylor University, helped date the sediment layers at Parsons Island, corroborating findings from another lab. He said that it’s hard to find the artifacts in the kind of bulletproof geological context needed to support extraordinary claims. “The case is not as tight as we like to see it with other sites,” Forman said. Michael Waters, an archaeologist at Texas A&M University who has worked on pre-Clovis sites and excavated at Parsons Island, thinks he probably got there too late, when most of the artifacts had already been eroded out. Still, he pays someone to monitor the bank profile on a regular basis, because he’s ready to jump on a plane if they see something in place. “Too bad we didn’t get there four to five years sooner,” Waters said. Enter ancient DNA

(Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) Parsons Island isn’t the only site that could dramatically push back human arrival in the Americas. Last fall, a study published in the journal Science described fossilized human footprints discovered at White Sands National Park in New Mexico that have been dated to between 21,000 and 23,000 years ago. That stunning finding suggests people were here during the Ice Age — much earlier than most experts thought possible if the first humans arrived via the Bering land bridge and inland corridor. The dates at White Sands are still being disputed because of questions about the methods. But the timeline collides head-on with another exciting line of evidence: studies of ancient DNA. By examining genetic material preserved in bones and teeth and comparing those samples to modern populations, scientists have been able to track when populations mingled and became isolated from one another, offering a new window into patterns of human migration. In broad strokes, they’ve found that the ancestors of Native Americans split from ancient Siberian populations no earlier than 23,000 years ago. The studies can’t say where such splits took place, but many scientists interpret genetic evidence to mean that the ancestors of modern people weren’t in the Americas until much later. Genetic studies suggest that Native American ancestors traveled into what is now the United States between 17,500 and 14,600 years ago. Joe Watkins, a senior consultant for Archaeological and Cultural Education Consultants in Tucson and a Choctaw tribal member, said that he sees a few problems with using the still-evolving DNA evidence to decide how ancient sites are related to modern-day people. “The reality is genetics does not equal culture,” Watkins said. He also argued that there are still too few samples of ancient DNA in the Americas to be sure they capture the whole story. “Trying to create population histories based on 10 people, if you will, is a little bit of a scientific conundrum,” Watkins said. It could be that additional ancient genomes will one day help fill in the blanks. Another possibility is that earlier sites could represent small, isolated groups of people who didn’t contribute to the ancestry of living Native Americans.

(Michael Robinson Chávez/The Washington Post) “Let’s suppose you have a successful population colonizing an area, and then one day, 15 males go out and get eaten by a short-faced bear,” Lowery said. “You reduce the genetic diversity, and bada boom, bada bing, game over.” All this explodes the neat picture of one population migrating into the Americas as ice sheets retreated, hunting big animals like mammoths and giant sloths, driving them into extinction as they went. If there were small groups making their way into the New World, with different stone tool technologies, and far earlier than previously believed, how did they get here? People could have migrated along the coast by boat, following a “kelp highway.” It’s also possible the ice sheet was not as impenetrable as experts have long thought. Lowery’s longtime collaborator, Dennis Stanford, proposed that people crossed the Atlantic Ocean in what is known as the Solutrean Hypothesis, though that idea has been rejected by many archaeologists. To resolve the question, scientists need to keep looking for more evidence. Archaeology is a historical science, and unlike chemistry or biomedicine, where researchers can perform the same experiment over and over again to see if they get the same results, consensus is built by argument, counterargument and new evidence. To a certain extent, older ideas and prejudices also fall away as new people enter the field, said James Feathers, who performed dating on samples from Parsons Island before he retired from the University of Washington. “Sometimes you have to wait for people to die off,” Feathers said.

He acknowledges that the sites, perhaps a little bit like him, are “persnickety” but that shouldn’t deter interest in them. Instead, it should spur more. He noted that if a pod of silverfish was found gnawing on documents in the National Archives, people would be galvanized to act. “I view it as my swan song,” Lowery said, “to say you can learn a lot from [an] eroding site if you do a little bit of effort and look at it systematically.”

Once dug into, Trader Joe’s Banana Pudding seasonal flavor (available until June) delivers on its description of “salted caramel swirl and vanilla wafer cookie pieces”—for the most part.

• The salted caramel: not very salty, not super sweet. A balanced, regular (not salted) caramel. Modest to moderate amount of caramel (a little less than cover pic).
• The vanilla wafer cookie pieces: the star of the show! A generous amount of cookie and a nice, fluffy texture that also chews well. Taste similar to Nilla Wafers (popular addition to banana pudding recipes).

What’s not mentioned in the description is there is some times where I thought I tasted actual banana pieces. The ingredients list shows banana purée. Maybe the wafers takes on the texture of banana pieces?
Ok so the caramel and wafers are there, but what was the overall experience of the ice cream like? * The first bite: a charged and a little aggressive caramel flavor with a secondary banana flavor. Not your mildly sweet banana pudding experience. * The next bites: the perfectly textured wafers kicks in. The ice cream is regular to nice ice cream, while the cookies perfectly resembles banana pudding cookies. * And after that: some flavor notes of banana purée comes through. The best moments. * The last bites: the harsh taste from the first bites lingers and cancels out the heavenly textural experience I just had a bit. * Long after the last bites (5+ minutes): why am i still tasting caramel?
Overall 7.5/10. Damn I love those cookies. Get this ice cream for that alone. I like when I can taste authentic banana also.
However there’s a strong lingering note of (artificial?) caramel that will probably put me off from repurchasing. I don’t actually think the banana is artificial tasting like some have said. I think it’s the caramel. I’m not sure what it is—by itself the swirl doesn’t taste bad.

I recommend:

• Kroger’s Private Selection Tres Leches Cake - If you want a nice light caramel with very generous cake pieces (a little dense at first; becomes gooey)
• Perry’s Banana Graham - a mild banana pudding flavor (banana plus vanilla) ice cream with a unique whipped texture like banana pudding. Less graham cookies than TJ’s but they are tasty like slightly salty pie crust.
• Haagen Dazs banana peanut butter flavor - natural banana taste ice cream with mix ins
• Ben and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey - natural banana taste with mix ins

There is a man (last name Fuller) that is one of Joe's friends. Apparently he used to be a mega church pastor, but he came out as gay, married his partner, adopted some kids and bought a bunch of monkeys. He post lots of cute videos of them on tiktok and facebook

Can someone please explain this situation to me? Who is he? Just what exactly are people accusing this guy of? and why are things about him being taken down?

Hi everyone,
I don't usually do this and I imagine not many would really care but I wanted to share my experience with my first oneplus phone just to vent my frustrations, in particular with their customer service. I am very sour with the situation which I imagine you will be able to easily tell, but I have never had to deal with something like this before.
TLDR: The phone's hardware is amazing, their software sucks and in the off chance you have any issues that requires their customer service's help, well, good luck.
I have had many software issues with the OnePlus 12, I found on some forums people with similar issues such as google apps lagging, closing or freezing. One of the most annoying things personally is banking apps taking 2-3 minutes to sign in after taking more than normal to even open (not an issue with my samsung tablet, galaxy s22+ and for testing sake an LGv20 thinq X).
The one plus store app doesnt show order details on my other devices, only on the oneplus 12 and submitting a return request does not give me a confirmation. The first time I tried was around 13 days in on the return period, then again the week after when I did not hear anything from them.
I ended up chatting with them the next day, they followed their script and mentioned the 15 days return window passed so they cannot accept it. Explained the situation, they then manage to find the second request after some back and forth, never the first one, cool.
They recommend to send it to their repair partner for repairs under warranty, sure, I agree, not an issue. I am asked the basic stuff, have you done a factory reset?( I had) did you uninstall and reinstall the apps with problems? ( yes, I did), is your phone up to date and can you take a screenshot of the android version you are on?( yes and of course, sent). I asked for the perdon to send me a transcript of the chat, they said they can't so copy past it and screen capture just in case.An email is then sent to me with the shipping instructions and then another one with the transcript 🫠. I get a box and bubble wrapping to ship based on the guidelines in their email.
Item is shipped and then shipped back to me the next day, they had it for less than 24h, so efficient (sarcasm). I received a fedex mailer with my phone's box in it. I did not know it was the phone until opened since their email strongly advised against sending it this way, and stated in at least 2 separate occasions that all damages incurred during shipping for sending the item this way would not be covered. At this point I am no longer confident in the situation.
The very esthetically appealing red One Plus 12 box is now all scoffed up and dented, thankfully the phone itself has no physical damage. I read the repairshop receipt, they ran a diagnosis and did a factory reset. Turn on the phone android updates were reverted, so it is a fresh install, I figure their update was the issue and I should wait for them to solve before updating android again, download my regular apps, and test, the same issues persist so i do another factory reset and then install android updates before proceeding, all the same.
I contact their chat, again, I am given the same script as the previous time, same apologies in the same place in the extact same words ( It became a meme with my partner how all the agent's names are the most basic, "english", two first name names, like John Jones, William Joe, Kevin bob, all these taken directly from my chats and emails with them. Only one had what I assume was a south asian name that sounded normal).
After the robotic usual stuff, I am told to ship the item again to their repair services to which I say sure, and ask them to provide me a box since they threw away mine with the packaging materials and I do not wish to be liable based on their shipping recommendations. They cannot do this, the very simple issue is escalated, I ask for a transcript again and I am told they do not do this, again. I said they did before, I am asked for a screenshot to prove that, I send one, then I am told again this is not possivle for them to do, ok sure, then I am told the system does it automatocally, it is not them. Chat ends, no transcript was received by the agent or their system, good thing I screen recorded again to be safe.
This then leads to day after day of emails with the same answers, their agents don't bother to read the history or even the responses to their emails. They continue to say the exact same thing and even escalated further. Kevin bob (minions anyone?), the current "highest level" of customer service continues to repeat the same things, does not read my replies and offered one $25 coupon to their store in 2 separate emails back to back as an apology, but why the hell would I want to spend more momey on one plus when my $1000 (canada) brand new phone is more unstable than a lg v20 or galaxy s22? (I got 19 coupons for the one plus store app, everyweek there is like 4 coupons given by for 30% off or $50/$60)
I have submitted a claim with my bank as OnePlus continues to refuse a refund or at the very least provide packaging to send the phone again to their lovely rapair shop partner
Hope you guys enjoy your OnePlus 12. Those of you who have had no issues I truly envy you, because on paper the phone is amazing. The battery life alone was the main reason I wanted it and wow it is above anything else in that category. If you do not have to deal with stupid bugs and their customer service you are set with a great device for the forseable future.
