I am setting up awesomewm and using Lua and Bash script for the first time. I was able to get this working, so on the one hand it might appeal to other beginners as an accessible project, and on the other this is a good juncture to seek out feedback from those who know better ways. u/digost explained to me about mkfifo yesterday and already that let me do something new in this.
wallpaper can be set up in rc.lua by adding the line awful.spawn.with_shell("feh --bg-scale ~/FILENAME.png"), so if this file is replaced with another png a different wallpaper will load
conky the system monitor is installed from pacman and it can be given its own background by following the installation guide to generate a config file at ~/.config/conky/conky.conf and adding or editing a line to the top of the conky.text section

Where 450x450 is the image size and -50 is an offset to get it to appear in the right place. These small images are about the same size as the cheapest generative-AI option, which I found for fractions of a penny and that's what gave me the idea. I will try not to promote or even mention the particular provider since it is non-Free.
conky configuration is something that some people spend time on as part of ricing. Although a basic process of pulling an image from the internet should stay the same across awesomewm themes, there could be limitless complexity in getting images to reliably visually-cohere. If the conky and the wallpaper come from related prompts into the same Model, then hopefully they can cohere at least sometimes, but for now I've just gone with colour red.
My first step is to create a salt list of theme words. I went to a free/non-passworded chatbot and asked it for a list of words to do with cars and trucks and fire and chrome. These go into a text file with a space at the start of each entry

The " at the start is needed for .json request's format - as can be seen from the other lines. The [ on the end is there as a delimiter but ended up not being used: the API just ignores it.
For this site this is enough to start with. The prompt is set up with a script, which is also used to launch the process once everything is in place:-

The first line clears any leftover fifo files from previous times the script has run. The main body of this joins the parts of the .json prompt together into a compliant format, in the file conkies.TEXT-prompter.sh The shuf commands pull three salt-words into the prompt. The perl command takes a newline off the end of the conkies.TEXTtemplate which otherwise breaks the format. There are some syntax marks at the end of the file, the " one needs an escape character.
conkies.TEXT-prompter.sh is then run; the data that comes back from the API of the service provider is written into the fifo; and a new shell is opened for the IMAGE prompter.
Hopefully the data that comes back from the API is a prompt. If it's an error-message or the money has run out the resulting images might be very strange!
The IMAGE prompter also has to be set up beforehand. The IMAGE provider I used had a slightly more complex format than the TEXT provider I used, so it had to be made from a start section, the TEXT-prompt, and an end section. The format was on their website and involved some intricacies to do with different Models being compatible with different versions of Lora.

To generate a wallpaper and conky background at the same time I think it would be easiest to duplicate everything to another folder, so that the text prompts are not the same.

There are various problems. Any changes to the API will break it but that is in the nature of these things. Both API providers required accounts. With the text-provider I am on some trial limit they have which is more than enough free requests per month to make these conky prompts, but it might be monetized in the future. The image-provider I had to pay for but it's the minimum amount. It might be that the credits expire and my conky becomes a financial commitment. But for this $10 I could generate a lifetime supply of pictures of what AI thinks cars look like... with wing-mirrors only for the passengers :D
From zero-knowledge I've been able to use a named pipe to connect two APIs together, and used bash script to manipulate text into compliant formats for .json requests. I'm becoming conscious that simple tasks have to be broken down into more stages and more files than it initially appears and this becomes messy. I generally have nothing in place to check each script is outputting in the right form, or to give error messages. If I accidentally included one special character in the text prompt, that would break the image output, but if I include any comment lines to warn myself then the script will have to check for those and remove them... so I just have to remember.

I work for sms security in the contract says if i work 12 hours i would get 60 minute paid break. and if 6 hours it is 30 minutes paid break. i noticed for the past 4 months the only break i get is 5 mins. i complained to my manager for building i work at that i have not been getting proper breaks she claims i can put sign up that says i went on patrol please the site phone then i can go take my break which does not make any sense due to i am only security guard at this site mean i open and close building for residents. i hand out keys to relator, i open suites and have to stay there with contractors sometimes takes 20 minutes to an hour. i open doors for delivery all the time.
and there is no break room so i am out in the open so 3 months ago i went on break was talking on my phone and eating lunch turns out manager was getting emails from residents that i am on my phone.
so i stop going on my phone then i contact my account manager at sms company about how there is no actual break room and i have to eat in open his response was do not bring certain foods that will irrate the residents.
i understand it is a paid break but i work 4 shifts in a week 3 are 12 hours and one is 6 hours imagine doing that for a year with just 5 minute break.
i find manager unprofessional a lot of resident complain about her and i do too cause i am basically doing her work has well meaning residents fill out forms and ask me why they are not in the system i told them i do not have the forms to registered i have to contact my manger i got her on voice recording saying she does the paper work but i am suppose to keep track of new residents and keep them updated which makes zero sense i don't understand why cant she place the paper work on my desk than let me do it why do i have to literary get resident complain to me that they were never registered for a month i mention that to her she ignored that. i am over worked.

We are a diagnosed system residing in a country that has a somewhat good healthcare system but has professionnals who can be extremely prejudiced about DID. As an example, [TW ableism] a psychiatrist once stated that "everyone knows MPD didn't exist" (note the outdated term) and that we "simply display extreme anxiety" and moved on to suggest a new cocktail of meds to help prevent these episodes (we talked about hearing "voices" or having thoughts that weren't the ones of the alter fronting and well, basically as much things we've noticed that we could dispose without sounding like someone dangerous) from occuring. We didn't take up the offer obviously, as it would be foolish to accept treatment from someone who's blatantly not up to date in his field of expertise.
So we're asking this half from a theorical standpoint (because we're not sure we'll ever find a mental health professionnal we can trust in this counrty) and half trying to actively figure out which option could best suit us (and then orient a potential competent and trustwhorthy therapist) :
For the fellow systems out there who are working towards healing/functionning with less amnesia barreers, between functionnal multiplicity othen final fusion, which do you favor and why ?
We're not aiming to pit one option against another. More trying to understand other's insight and reflect what could work for us. My baby is on similac pro total comfort, before we switched I used to keep rtf formula in the car and diaper bag for when I need to feed her while we're out and we'll be flying later this month and I was planning to use rtf to reduce the stress of mixing on the plane and in the airport. Problem is I can't find rtf in the total comfort. I know gentlease and total comfort are different but it's the closest that I can find in rtf. I'll obviously suck it up and just figure out a system for mixing powder on the go if necessary but if anyone has any experience switching between the two occasionally I would love to hear it

Hi there,
A bit of context. I met my girlfriend a year ago and we had it off pretty quickly. I didn't think I was capable of finding love like this again, like your first real love but even stronger and more secure.
During this time my gf had custody of her 13 yo sibling two days a week. The other five I essentially lived with her. We had been planning on me moving in about a month ago, and also saving for our own home.
About 7 weeks ago she gained full custody of her younger sibling. She has zero help from anyone, so she has the kid 24/7. It has been quite an intense transition for all parties involved and has obviously been a shock to our relationship dynamic.
The main changes are no more date nights, no holidays (we had to cancel ours), all holidays going fourth will be with the kid, and rarely if ever can have sex going forward as she's uncomfortable doing it if the kid is in.
This was obviously a lot for me to think about and I thought deep. I want to be with my girlfriend more than anything and give her stability and security where I can.
We have been transitioning to the reality of our situation and it is weighing on me how much I am giving up.
My main concern is can a relationship thrive with no date nights, a diminished to nil sex life and a kid around 24/7 that isn't ours and the stress that comes with that. I am worrying is love enough to make this work. I feel like the integral components to keep a spark ignited (date night, sex, physical affection when we want, couples holidays, spontaneity arent possible) and I'm worried about our connection going forward.
Its not that I'm getting cold feet, I'm committed to her and our situation but again worried is love enough to carry a situation like this? I'm more worried about keeping our spark alive rather than the reality of new our relationship dynamic.

I joined at 7pm (UK), everyone looking for how to join as a link would be provided. Link never appeared and event site become the AMA. I sat up for 3 hours to try and find answers.
They had three Sonos staff on the ask-me-anything forum who surprisingly didn’t start answering questions until around 40 minutes in (by then, with a lot of even more annoyed people), but then answered only a handful of questions (and mostly similar answers)

In 3 hours!! Against 700 questions.
Some answers told us (consumers) we don’t understand software development and that they decided now is as good a time as ever to push out the update.
The new app is written to use new cloud protocols which will ultimately provide a richer experience (not sure what this will be). And the lack of clarity makes me suspicious what is the true intention (but we were warned off from asking about the future roadmap). Sonos has clearly been trying to move into the SaaS business with the appalling Sonos Radio (which I wish I could hide on my system), so my guess is this has something to do with it.
Unfortunately, no apology (that I saw). But I gave up after 3 hours.
