I am testing my app on a simulator AND my real device. I am getting an ERROR Domain=kCLErrorDomain Code=1 "(null)" when the app is first built on the sim/device. If I stop the app in xcode on sim or device and run it again I no longer get the error. The authorization status is set prior to calling this code. Any suggestions why this doesn't work on the initial "install" on the device or sim?

  3. Q: My Pi is behaving strangely/crashing/freezing, giving low voltage warnings, ethernet/wifi stops working, USB devices don't behave correctly, what do I do? A: 99.999% of the time it's either a bad SD card or power problems. Use a USB power meter or measure the 5V on the GPIO pins with a multimeter while the Pi is busy (such as playing h265/x265 video) and/or get a new SD card 1 2 3. If the voltage is less than 5V your power supply and/or cabling is not adequate. When your Pi is doing lots of work it will draw more power. Even if your power supply claims to provide sufficient amperage, it may be mislabeled or the cable you're using to connect the power supply to the Pi may have too much resistance. You can use a USB load tester to test your power supply and cable. Some power supplies require negotiation to provide more than 500mA, which the Pi does not do. If you're plugging in USB devices try using a powered USB hub with its own power supply and plug your devices into the hub and plug the hub into the Pi.

  5. Q: I just did a fresh install with the latest Raspberry Pi OS and I keep getting errors when trying to ssh in, what could be wrong? A: There are only 4 things that could be the problem:
    1. The ssh daemon isn't running
    2. You're trying to ssh to the wrong host
    3. You're specifying the wrong username
    4. You're typing in the wrong password
  6. Q: I'm trying to install packages with pip but I keep getting error: externally-managed-environment A: This is not a problem unique to the Raspberry Pi. The best practice is to use a Python venv, however if you're sure you know what you're doing there are two alternatives documented in this stack overflow answer:
    • --break-system-packages
    • sudo rm a specific file as detailed in the stack overflow answer
  7. Q: The only way to troubleshoot my problem is using a multimeter but I don't have one. What can I do? A: Get a basic multimeter, they are not expensive.

  12. Q: Is it possible to use a single Raspberry Pi to do multiple things? Can a Raspberry Pi run Pi-hole and something else at the same time? A: YES. Pi-hole uses almost no resources. You can run Pi-hole at the same time on a Pi running Minecraft which is one of the biggest resource hogs. The Pi is capable of multitasking and can run more than one program and service at the same time. (Also known as "workload consolidation" by Intel people.) You're not going to damage your Pi by running too many things at once, so try running all your programs before worrying about needing more processing power or multiple Pis.
  13. Q: Why is transferring things to from disks/SSDs/LAN/internet so slow? A: If you have a Pi 4 or 5 with SSD, please check this post on the Pi forums. Otherwise it's a networking problem and/or disk & filesystem problem, please go to HomeNetworking or LinuxQuestions.
  14. Q: I only have one outlet and I need to plug in several devices, what do I do? A: They make things called power strips aka multi-tap extensions.
  15. Q: The red and green LEDs are on/off/blinking or the screen is just black or blank or saying no signal, what do I do? A: Start here
  16. Q: I'm trying to run x86 software on my Raspberry Pi but it doesn't work, how do I fix it? A: Get an x86 computer. A Raspberry Pi is ARM based, not x86.

  19. Q: I run my Pi headless and there's a problem with my Pi and the best way to diagnose it or fix it is to plug in a monitor & keyboard, what do I do? A: Plug in a monitor & keyboard.
  20. Q: My Pi seems to be causing interference preventing the WiFi/Bluetooth from working A. Using USB 3 cables that are not properly shielded can cause interference and the Pi 4 can also cause interference when HDMI is used at high resolutions.
  21. Q: I'm trying to use the built-in composite video output that is available on the Pi 2/3/4 headphone jack, do I need a special cable? A. Make sure your cable is wired correctly and you are using the correct RCA plug. Composite video cables for mp3 players will not work, the common ground goes to the wrong pin. Camcorder cables will often work, but red and yellow will be swapped on the Raspberry Pi.
  22. Q: I'm running my Pi with no monitor connected, how can I use VNC? A: First, do you really need a remote GUI? Try using ssh instead. If you're sure you want to access the GUI remotely then ssh in, type vncserver -depth 24 -geometry 1920x1080 and see what port it prints such as :1, :2, etc. Now connect your client to that.
  23. Q: I want to do something that has been well documented and there are numerous tutorials showing how to do it on Linux. How can I do it on a Raspberry Pi? A: A Raspberry Pi is a full computer running Linux and doesn't use special stripped down embedded microcontroller versions of standard Linux software. Follow one of the tutorials for doing it on Linux. Also see question #1.
  24. Q: I want to do something that has been well documented and there are numerous tutorials showing how to do it with an Arduino. How can I do it on a Raspberry Pi Pico? A: Follow one of the tutorials for doing it on Arduino, a Pico can be used with the Arduino IDE.
  25. Q: I'm trying to do something with Bluetooth and it's not working, how do I fix it? A: It's well established that Bluetooth and Linux don't get along, this problem is not unique to the Raspberry Pi.

I'm new to Android development, and have heard that passing things such as Context to the ViewModel in a typical MVVM architecture is bad practice. However, we are using a Geocoder to transform location data (lat, long) to city names etc. This Geocoder object takes a Context as input, which we need form the UI layer (I think?).
We have created a Repository called GeocodingRepository, which uses a Geocoder object in order to convert the data. However, this requires the context of the app to be passed from the screens to the ViewModel using this factory approach, where we only really pass it to the GeocodingRepository and not the ViewModel:

Is this a dumb way of handling it? Or should the Geocoder never be placed in our GeocodingRepository in the first place? Can we pass the Context like this?

2024.05.13 21:57 TrafficPattern Exobiology, a sadistic experiment

I wonder which part of the dev team thought that running around planets with a single canister collecting plant samples was an engrossing game/simulation mechanic.
Exploring out in the black, I have a single canister with two samples of a specimen. Flying around looking for the third one (for more than 30 minutes), I spot several other specimens but I can't sample them, because the technology for switching canisters hasn't been invented yet. I have to (manually, phone camera or Post-It note) jot down the latitude and longitude for each other specimen, in order to come back and scan it later.
I presume there is a way to upgrade the Artemis suit, with a couple hundred randomly collectable materials, in order to stop feeling like an aimless idiot flying a 200-million ship with a single exobiology canister. You can instantly pinpoint the location of a tiny moon from the other end of a system, you can scan the surface of that moon from orbit and know the exact region where a specimen can be found, but no machine invented by man can help you locate it when it's two kilometers behind you.
Unless I've completely misunderstood how this system works, this is utterly ridiculous. The way this game builds so many wonderful systems only to make your life in it as miserable as possible is the stuff legends are made of.

It would be interesting and fun if there is an app that tracks the roads your already driven on and shows you how many percent of you area or country you already discovered.
It would be handy when you like to tour with your motorcycle/bike and want to get to know your home area or even your entire country. Take Google maps as a base that let's you also navigate and plan routes. It would start like a blank canvas and gets highlighted or colorful the more you visit. And it could also show stats e.g. how much percent of road you completed or are many kilometers/miles you have driven.
I got the idea when I saw him the game EuroTruck highlights the roads you been too and was thinking about how to plan a motorcycle trip.
Or does an app like this already exists?

Cardston, Alberta--(Newsfile Corp. - May 10, 2024) - American Creek Resources Ltd. (TSXV: AMK) (OTCQB: ACKRF) ("the Corporation" or "American Creek") is pleased to announce that crews from JV partner Tudor Gold are on site preparing camp and drill locations for the upcoming 2024 exploration program at the flagship Treaty Creek Project, located in the Golden Triangle of Northwest British Columbia. Two diamond drills were mobilized to the project on May 7th and 8th and drilling commenced on May 9th.
Phase 1 of the 2024 exploration program is expected to consist of approximately 10,000 meters (m) of diamond drilling at the Goldstorm Deposit. The primary objective of the Phase 1 drill program is to expand and upgrade the recently released Mineral Resource Estimate (news release dated April 8, 2024). Several drill holes have been designed as step-out drilling to the high-grade Supercell One (SC-1) system identified in 2023 (news release dated February 1, 2024). Supercell One is a gold dominant, quartz-sulphide, breccia-hosted structural corridor open to the northwest, north and east.
Previous drilling results from Supercell One include the following high-grade gold intercepts:
  • GS-23-176-W1: 15.00 m @ 15.64 grams/tonne (g/t) AuEQ (14.89 g/t gold (Au), 4.72 g/t silver (Ag), 0.60% copper (Cu))
  • GS-22-134: 25.50 m @ 9.96 g/t AuEQ (9.66 g/t Au, 1.23 g/t Ag, 0.24% Cu)
    • Including 4.50 m @ 20.86 g/t AuEQ (20.61 g/t Au, 1.50 g/t Ag, 0.20% Cu)
  • GS-23-179: 12.00 m @ 10.07 g/t AuEQ (9.78 g/t Au, 1.35 g/t Ag, 0.23% Cu)
Click the following links to view the corresponding SC-1 plan view map and drill sections.
Drilling will take place from two drill pads that were built last fall in preparation for this program. One drill rig is positioned just beyond the northern limit of known mineralization and the second rig is located at the northeastern boundaries of the Goldstorm Deposit. Drilling will focus on an area located between 200-250 m northeast of the current Mineral Resource limit.
  • Diamond Drill 1 is to be mobilized to Pad 12 (Section A) to complete three holes. Drill holes 12A and 12B will further test the 100 m down-dip extension of the CS-600 domain and the projection of the SC-1 system to the north and at depth. Drill hole 12C is an infill hole, testing the continuity and following up on the impressive results from drill holes GS-23-176-W1 (1.23 g/t Au, 2.93 g/t Ag, 0.12% Cu over 601.5 m) and GS-23-179 (1.16 g/t Au, 2.25 g/t Ag, 0.19% Cu over 223.5 m). Our planned hole 12C is estimated to intersect a distance of approximately 140 m east of GS-23-176-W1 and 120 m west of GS-23-179.
  • Diamond Drill 2 is to be mobilized to Pad 13 (Section B), currently the furthest northeast step-out on the deposit to date, to complete four drill holes. All four drill holes are targeting the northeast extension of the CS-600 domain and the nested SC-1 system in a regularly spaced drill fence. Drill holes 13A and 13B are to target a northward 200-m step-out of the lower CS-600 domain to the northwest and east of drill hole GS-23-179 by approximately 120 m. Drill holes 13C and 13D are designed to increase drilling density and potentially upgrade the resource category from Inferred to Indicated in the CS-600 and DS5 domains, laterally and at depth.
Ken Konkin, President & CEO of Tudor Gold**, commented:** "We are very excited to begin the 2024 diamond drill hole program well beyond the known northern and northeastern limits of the Goldstorm Deposit. I would like to congratulate our field crews for completing a safe and efficient start-up of the program which is designed to pierce areas that have been identified as high-grade gold targets in the newly identified Supercell One (SC-1) breccia system. Three wide-spaced drill holes have previously intersected a tectonic structural corridor which hosts fine-grained visible native gold identified in drill hole GS-22-134 with 20.86 g/t AuEq over 4.5 m (20.61 g/t Au, 1.5 g/t Ag, 0.20% Cu) within 25.5 m of 9.96 g/t AuEQ (9.66 g/t Au, 1.23 g/t Ag, 0.24% Cu). Subsequent exploration drilling intersected the same auriferous, hydrothermal, late-stage breccia zone with drill holes GS-23-176-W1 with 15.64 g/t AuEQ over 15.0 m (14.89 g/t Au, 4.72 g/t and Ag, 0.60% Cu) and GS-23-179 with 10.07 g/t AuEq over 12.0 m (9.78 g/t Au, 1.35 g/t Ag and 0.23% Cu). These three holes identified a geological target that occurs along a 400-m down-dip projection near the upper contact area of the CS-600 domain.
"In addition to testing the SC-1 high-grade breccia, the proposed Phase 1 drill holes are designed to expand and convert much of the inferred mineralization within the CS-600 and DS5 domains that is estimated to contain approximately six million ounces of gold-equivalent resource (Inferred) grading 1.25 g/t AuEq. Our concept is to add as much high-grade ounces to our current Estimated Mineral Resource of 26.9 million ounces of 1.19 g/t AuEq. With the completion of this year's program, we expect to publish a Preliminary Economic Assessment of our Goldstorm Deposit planned for release in late Q1 or early Q2 2025."
Darren Blaney, President & CEO of American Creek Resources, states: "The 2024 drill program has the potential to be the most significant one yet. Every year, as Tudor has drilled further north, the grades have continued to increase. Nowhere is this more evident than in the high-grade SC-1 system. We are confident that the overall scale and grade of the Goldstorm deposit will continue to increase through this year's drilling and are excited about the prospects of the high-grade supercells, including the SC-1 system."

About Treaty Creek
The Treaty Creek Project hosts the Goldstorm Deposit, comprising a large gold-copper porphyry system, as well as several other mineralized zones. As disclosed in the "NI-43-101 Technical Report for the Treaty Creek Project", dated April 5, 2024 prepared by Garth Kirkham Geosystems and JDS Energy & Mining Inc., the Goldstorm Deposit has an Indicated Mineral Resource of 27.87 million ounces (Moz) of AuEQ grading 1.19 g/t AuEQ (21.66 Moz gold grading 0.92 g/t, 2.87 billion pounds (Blbs) copper grading 0.18%, 128.73 Moz silver grading 5.48 g/t) and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 6.03 Moz of AuEQ grading 1.25 g/t AuEQ (4.88 Moz gold grading 1.01 g/t, 503.2 Mlb copper grading 0.15%, 28.97 Moz silver grading 6.02 g/t), with a pit constrained cut-off of 0.7 g/t AuEQ and an underground cut-off of 0.75 g/t AuEQ.
The Goldstorm Deposit has been categorized into three dominant mineral domains and several smaller mineral domains. The Goldstorm Deposit remains open in all directions and requires further exploration drilling to determine the size and extent of the Deposit.

There's a chat room game I used to play in the early 2000s and I cannot find any record of it anywhere. I know the servers used to have so many people in it, so someone has to remember it, right? Avatars could either be male or female, and they all had a white shirt, grey pants and a blank white face. They didn't look very cartoonish. I remember you loaded into one part of the map and could walk around to other parts. Most notably I remember an outside beach snack bar area that was at the top exit of the first map area you loaded into. There may have been mini games?? The bulk of the gameplay I remember is just chatting to people using a chat bar at the bottom of the screen.
It's not habbo, fantage, or gaiaonline. I'm beginning to think it was just a dream but I vividly remember learning how to spell words just by seeing them everyday (I was probably 8-9 years old playing it lol yikes)

This is gonna be a long one, hope you can read my amazing ideas because I’m so cool.
Problem: I have two big problems with the game aside from the current events. I sincerely believe the fixes people ask for and what I’m gonna talk about here would truly make this game perfect and set the bar for all the games in the future. The two main issues are simple; stratagem USAGE is underpowered and there is not enough dynamic gameplay.
Solution: Add side missions that affect stratagem usage and teamwork across the PLANET.
Stratagems: Stratagems are somewhat lacking due to that the game denotes your strats on random difficulties causing 50% cooldowns, increased arrival time, etc. Not only that, but they are also tough from the get go seeing as you can only bring 4 (unless we have the free add on, which is an amazing idea that should happen more often).
Fix for limitations and dynamic battlefields in one fell swoop: Add side objectives that give the team a free stratagem. Examples below πŸ‘‡: Eagles: a hanger bay is added to the level with a small jet. Inside is a fair amount of bugs surrounding a supply closet the pilot is hiding in. Rescuing them enables two free eagle stratagems for use similar to the SEAF artillery. Orbitals: A big dish that needs to be aligned to a weaponized satellite. Connecting offers X amount of (blank) orbital strikes, team use obviously. Resupply: A hanger similar to the one for the eagle strats. This one is holding some remainders of supplies of weapons and ammo. Interfacing with the terminal can enable the players to have 4 drones bring out resupply yellow boxes to them. ALTERNATIVELY the players can have the drones leave the map and another set of divers in another mission will receive them. This adds an extra layer of macro teamwork the game is severely lacking in.
Fix for stratagem debuffs: Dont. It’s stupid.
An alternate fix for this debuff should be that the enemy gets a new type of artillery (bugs and bots) and if that artillery isn’t taken care of early. It can shoot down a players destroyer, causing that player to lose all non team stratagems.
These things would add side missions that affect gameplay, and allow players to have an edge. Thanks for coming.

Drake tossed the last shovelful of soil over his shoulder, looking over the massive circular bunker elevator that had been buried beneath rubble and dirt. Destrier and Caz were consulting the map for any kind of clue as to how it could be opened up. Cassius and Remin both kept an eye on Charlotte and the younger of the two was playing patty-cake with the small woman. Drake paused for a moment, looking at the display with an odd trembling in his heart. It was clear charlotte was at least a teenager, but she acted like a small child, her wide eyed wonder evident in the freely smiling face and glittering eyes as she happily patted her hands against Cassius'. His stomach roiled and he almost doubled over as he spit out a mouthful of bile that sizzled on the ground ominously. Truth be told, since he'd been thrown into that strange void he'd felt sick, the tingling, electrical power in his veins only intensifying even as he dug out the massive hundred foot in diameter elevator. Chucking the shovel to the side halfheartedly, he looked up at the tree of hung corpses as the shovel clanged against a wall several paces away. His heart began to pound angrily and the feeling of nausea and static intensified exponentially, He doubled over and vomited, a pink slurry of blood and oatmeal splattering on the ground. He fell to one knee as the edges of his vision darkened for a moment, an overwhelming weakness turning his limbs to lead. Cassius appeared at his side, a look of fearful concern on his face as he went to grab Drake by the shoulders.
Drake didn't understand where the knowledge came from, but Cassius absolutely could not touch him. Drake shoved a hand out, launching Cassius back a few feet where he landed on his back. Sitting up, Drake saw the rapidly cooling red-hot handprint on the chest of his nano-mesh Gambeson at the same time Cassius did. They shared a look of startled panic and realization before Drake slumped forward, his last thought before the void took him was one of confusion.
"What's happening to me?!"

Charlotte saw the man named Drake tumble forward after shoving his friend, Heat mirage rising off his prone back as the soil around him began to melt into magma. She hurried to her feet when the old man in lamellar held her back, a look of confusion and fear on his face.
"Why aren't you helping him?!"
She cried trying to push past the old man's iron strength. Her hand still smudged with soot where the man currently laying in a puddle of molten soil had reattached her finger like magic. The man looked down at her, anxiously shouting.
"Do you not see the godsdamned lava?! I don't think we can even get close!"
Charlotte stopped pushing, a feeling of stark impotency falling like a pall over her mind as the ground bubbled around Drake's still form. She didn't know much about her new world, but she knew that man was a good one, and seeing him lay lifeless and still made her skin crawl with the desire to help. But then she heard a sound that chilled her to the bone.
The dull thrum of propulsor engines reached her over the wind and she whipped around to scan the sky. She could see them against the soft brown midday sky, dark shapes that hurtled through the air like birds of prey. She could see them now in her mind, loaded to the gills with Spec ops and bio-engineered soldiers, Artillery class emitters charged to full, engines thrumming under a full combat load of rockets and bombs. Charlotte wildly looked around, spotting a mostly intact, low forge building she shouted.
"If you want to live get inside!!!!"
The woman and large black man who'd been pouring over the maps looked up confusedly as Charlotte began shoving Remin towards the building. The panic she felt made her nerves burn with the need to run, but she couldn't abandon them she couldn't just let the-
An earplitting screech came from inside her skull forcing her to her knees as she clutched the aching sides of her head, a horrifyingly familiar voice speaking to her from within her very being.
"Ooooooooh Sylva my dear?~ Did my little cuckoo lose her collar?~ Ah, no matter, would you kindly clear the landing area for the buzzards?~"
Her arms fell limp as her viewpoint shrank away, leaving her floating in the darkness as she saw her body move of its own accord. Drawing a long bayonet from the thigh scabbard on the old man's leg and driving it right between his ribs, the blade expertly slipping between lamellar plates. She wanted to scream as the old man jolted back, clutching at where the knife had slipped through his armor, falling to the ground as she rotated to face the other three. Her hair swayed in front of her face, the dark brown draining upwards, leaving it a stark silver with a purple stripe. The hum of the buzzards was only growing louder as she reached for the small of her back, clawing at the veil between her body and her as a pen-flare came into view, pointed at the sky.
She silently screamed as a purple flair rose into the sky, the cold void swallowing her like it had all those years ago.

Nothingness surrounded Drake, a deep, endless, colorless world devoid of meaning or substance. But he wasn't alone here, something moved within the emptiness, pure, flavorless power roiling off it like the heat of his village's forge.
And it was angry.
He could feel it as it beheld him with a sort of bestial curiosity born out of its anger. Invisible tendrils snaked into his body like hot pieces of iron, molding themselves around his bones and sinews like it was searching for something. Crawling through his veins and into his heart, making him feel as though he was burning alive. His heart seized and stopped bringing a cold stillness to his body. But he didn't die as the tendrils slowly withdrew, heart pounding back to life like a bright orange flame had been ignited in his chest. The thing's viewpoint changed, looking down on him from above as it touched the glowing sigil over his heart with that same rageful curiosity, then a tendril of power touched the scythe on his wrist with something akin to fondness. He could feel hard crystalline bands forming around his fingers as the thing rumbled with amusement, the feeling of molten iron filling his body before fading as each band slowly reached completion. Then it hurled him ass over head through a wooden door.
Death jumped out of his chair, falling hard without his prosthetics and careful not to spill the yellowish water inside the odd glassware in his slender hand. The two stared at each other with similar levels of bewilderment as Drake rubbed his face before looking at the set of ten obsidian bands that encircled the base of each finger and thumb.
"How in the fuck did you get here?"
Death asked calmly, stump-walking back to his chair and taking a long burbling pull from the glassware in his hand.
Drake clambered into one of the smoky chairs death had casually summoned.
"I... uh... I got thrown through your door by... something... I don't exactly know what. It seemed... angry at me, though."
Death looked up with a blank expression, oily smoke rising from his nostrils as he said.
"Beg pardon? what do you mean you don't exactly know what did it? wait..."
A look of concern etched itself into Death's face as he grabbed one of Drakes hands, looking at the black rings with ever widening eyes. Slowly he made eye contact with Drake, holding up the jewelry bedecked hand urgently.
"Do you even know what these are?!?!"
Drake shook his head.
"Obviously fuckin not."
Death took a deep breath, taking a long burbling hit from the piece of glassware with palpable stress as he set Drakes hand down, letting his chosen look at the rings curiously and experimentally take one off. The moment the pinky ring stopped touching his flesh Death leapt back exclaiming.
"Jesus fucking christ kid!! Put it back on! put it back on!"
Drake slipped the ring back on, he'd felt a small boost to his energy but hadn't noticed anything that would elicit such a reaction from the harvester of souls.
"Who's Jesus christ?"
Drake asked as Death took another calming breath before replying.
"Probably one of the most famous demigods known to humankind, but that isn't important..."
Death folded his hands and leaned across the desk with a twitching eyelid.
"What is important, is how you managed to acquire ten heart of the umbra crystals for rings. I can count on one hand the amount of people who have acquired exactly one of these rings."
Drake looked at the dull black crystal rings curiously.
"Do they give me extra power?"
Death shook his head, slowly revealing an arm encased in the black bands.
"Quite the opposite... They typically completely restrain your power so you don't burn up and turn into a walking, talking nuclear weapon. And they're specifically given to those who have touched the Umbra and survived, typically just experiencing the primordial soup that makes reality results in a cataclysmic leap in power... but even then... it's only ever been one ring. Three humans have owned one of these rings, Archibald Sunshine, Roxanne Richards, and Bagelious Braveheart. How the Bagel god's chosen got one I'm at a loss. But of those three, One died using the power the ring held back, The other lives inside a mechanical body locked away from her powers permanently, and Bagelius? he's... He's just unhinged."
Drake gazed at his hands, the rings glittering dully in the flickering firelight. He held them up curiously.
"So... what does it mean if I have ten?"
Death took another deep breath, letting it out in an exasperated sigh. He didn't look drake in the eye as he stared at a wall.
"I... I don't know... If I had to guess..."
Death looked at Drake with no small amount of curiosity and fear for his life.
"You didn't just survive the umbra... You fought it... and lived to tell the tale... I don't even think you're human anymore Drake..."
Drake furrowed his brow, clenching and relaxing his fist, feeling the rings click together.
"Then what am I?"
Death shook his head before simply stating.
"Something I and those before me, have never seen..."
He looked into Drakes eyes, a soft glimmer in the endless, silvery pools as he rolled his sleeve back down to hide the bands around his own arm.
"You defy every law and command of the universe, just by existing."
Drake slowly nodded before standing back up.
"That explains why conquest looked so afraid. Bitch kidnapped my soul and tried to fight me on her own turf and still lost."
"Im sorry..."
Drake glanced over at Death's coldly calm words, the primordial exploding with power as he roared.
"She did WHAT!?!?!"
Drake looked at death with wide eyes, shocked at the sudden outburst, the primordial literally steaming with rampant power as he clicked his legs on. Drake was about to step through the door and back to his body when death stopped him with a snarled.
"No, you're coming with me. I need to know what she's playing at... and what better way than to bring the one person she's actually afraid of."

Caz had barely taken a running step towards Charlotte, blindsided by the sudden betrayal as the small woman lifted a pen flare to the sky and launched it with a Pop! Snatching her Huntress she broke it open, cocking the striker and slamming a fresh flechette into the electrically insulated chamber. A massive shadow loomed over her and she froze in her tracks, looking up at the massive metal machine as it hovered over the ruined village, her heart pounding in her throat as dark silhouettes leapt from the sides of the propulsor driven aircraft. They landed hard on the ground, Grey, patterned armor shifting to blend in with the bombed out village as their cold visors regarded her emotionlessly. Caz drew a bead on the first one, about to fire when the cold steel of a bayonet was pressed against her throat from behind. She'd forgotten about charlotte. A soft chuckle came from within the group of organized soldiers and they parted to reveal a geknosian in similar but far more ornate armor. Golden medals bedecking every available surface including a fabric crotch flap weighed down with stamped precious metals. They pulled an ornately forged helmet from their head, a dark grin on the general's face as he looked around at the general disarray the five troublemakers found themselves in.
Cassius held a chest seal to the wet gash between Remin's ribs. The old man looking pale and shaky as he weekly held his shotgun in the general direction of the soldiers. Destrier slowly folded up the map and tucked it into the pouch at the small of his back, dark eyes gliding studiously over the Geknosian forces. Caz adjusted her crosshair onto the General and felt the bayonet press harder against her throat.
"Drop it... Bitch~"
The small woman holding the knife cooed. Caz snarled and threw her Huntress to the ground, raising her hands in surrender as the blade of the bayonet relaxed against her throat. She wanted to spare Drake a glance, but she dared not turn her head lest she slit her own throat on the keen blade of Remin's long bayonet. The Geknosian General sauntered forward, attempting to take her chin in his hand.
"ARRRGH!"
The General cried out, leaping back as a burst of cold frost froze his war gauntlet into a brick of ice. Caz's eyes lit up as she backed into Charlotte, the woman crying out in pain and jerking the blade away as a brick of frosted ice formed around her chest. The Geknosian general grabbed for the blaster pistol at his hip and she kicked him in the chest, freezing his chestplate and sending him reeling back in shock. She got a glimpse of Destrier sprinting to Remin and Cassius's side, helping Drag the old man into the low forge building as Caz dove for her Huntress. A heavy armored boot slammed into her mask, throwing her disorientingly on her side even as the boot froze over. Caz slowly got back to her feet as the soldiers bore their guns down on her, wiping the blood from her split lip through her mask, she growled, glancing back at Drake's still form, the ground around him having cooled and solidified into hard stone. Charlotte slowly joined the generals side, the frost around her chest quickly melting as she leaned in to whisper in the general's ear, eliciting a smile.
"Thank you Sylva, the information is much appreciated. A little cuckoo bird tells me that you all came here looking for the human bunker. How pitiful you don't have an access remote, like this one?"
The general held out a hand, a piece of blocky, olive drab green plastic falling into his outstretched, thawing palm. Clicking a button, nothing happened and he purred.
"But, alas we're at an impasse, for only someone of human genome may access the bunkers... oh wait~"
He held the remote out to Charlotte, Who stared at it blankly, eyes glimmering dully for a second. Then they dulled again as she looked up at Caz with an odd expression.
The remote sailed through the air and Caz instinctually caught it as Charlotte monotonely stated.
"Run, Keep it away from them."
Caz didn't need to be told twice as she turned on her heel and sprinted through a small alleyway between two buildings that leaned on each other, blaster bolts ablating the stony surfaces in puffs of loud smoke and blinding flashes. Grabbing the hook at her belt, she threw it and slung herself onto the crumbling rooftops, one of the metal buzzards turning where it hovered in the air to focus a glowing emitter on her. She leapt off the crumbling rooftop just as the powerful laser ablated the spot she'd just been standing with a blinding flash and a pressure wave that launched her much farther through the air than she intended. The last thing she saw before blacking out was a crumbling wall rushing at her as she fell face first towards it, clutching the remote to her chest.

2024.05.13 13:00 Splatweene Maxing Out the Clockie Statue. The Journey

This Face...
So first off this post will have minor spoilers for of course one thing... Harmony Traileblazer.This post as you can probably see if pretty long but it will be separated in to parts to make it easier to navigate. And lastly this post is meant to both be a sort of guide to help people bc I haven't seen anyone make a post like this yet and to tell the tale of how I spent So long trying to pay this sentient comp-clock.

The Story.

So >be me (Just go along with the 2nd person pov amd you can skip this) you finished the Story got Harmony Trailblazer(Which will be the last time I'll blank that out because by now you probably already know or knew what I'm talking about) and your thinking about getting more than just E1 because of all the 100k damage showcases you've seen in like the first week. You look at his character menu and tap on any of their Eidolons to see where to get them and you see the Clockie statue. You think this will just be like getting max Physical and Fire Tralblazer... then you see that you need level 50 Clockie statue and your heart sinks, but you go along with It anyway cause "how Bad could it Be"

Some things that I should probably say before hand is that I started this whole thing at Statue level 25-30 and the story was finished.
and I was left with 70 bucks by the end of the whole ordeal
which leads into how LONG this took being around I duno... 10-15+ hours over 2 days. ya know a bit of time. Ill get in to how I Feel about this later but just know about this before fully committing
Oh and btw you can't get E6 by the time of me writing this... just E5. can't wait for 2.3 : ' )

So remember those dream tickers and Dream Jigsaws littered through out the maps. well I hope you like them because you have to do All of Them. Ok ok that's a bit of hyperbole you don'y have to do All of the... you can skip a couple but that just means more chests. all the Dream Jigsaws are all pretty easy and marked on the map so this is probably the easist part of the grind outside of the story I can only remember like 2 Dream Tickers that I couldn't solve legitimently. These also probably contribute some of the most to the over all Jade total by the end so that another thing going for them.

So theses Guys are just kinda annoying. like its not hard to just go IPC Concert and go all Geno route on them but again ALL of the must perish (ps if you have Acheron this is the easiest part) I remember one Specific fight with two waves of TV guys which draged on for YEEARRSSS but outside of that just use your strongest team and guide these guys back to the waking world.

You knew it was coming side quests. Do them their should be a couple in the quest menu that give 360 bucks and then theirs also the all the fate atlus ones which also give the same amount. btw doing all of these takes a couple Hours and that's with mashing sooo yea clear up your Saturday or wait like a week to finish these up. one more thing I didn't pay attention to the stories of all of them but I did for the ends of them so here's what happens in like 4 of them One of the people almost comits ALT f4 in their emo scape :( one of them was a tyrannical ruler in belebog in some form and one of them was a former geinus society member.

Now these are the last two thing really Grind my Gears (like the word play im going for yea I know it sucks) but seriously tho these suck so around the safe sections of the maps theirs these people with wrenches where the clockwork symbole should be and that means their having an Emo-gency. there spred out so its hard enough to find some of these flipper floppers but... you remeber how the emotion gears yea you need the coresponding gear to even start the quest and these are basicaly a mini side quest with normally like one or two things you need to do. these each give 180 bucks which means save these for the end of the marathon, like 10 or less statue levels remaning.

Now... I HATE THESE FUCKERS now I know thats harsh their cute and sometimes gives a funny little quip of dialog that may make you exhale out of your nose a bit. But After 90 OF THEM you start to go a little mad silly even. I hope you were looking for these pidgons during the story like I didn't because you need to colect ten in each of the 9 maps in the Dream Scape for a Grand Total OF 1,620 bucks... which if you didn't notice is NOT EVEN THREE LEVELS and the worst part is if you skip one of these you have to subsitute the 180 your missing out on with an Emo-gency or like 3 more chesets on top of the 300 you alredy got...
some tips the gambaling tokens you can buy (the ones firefly gave you) can be given to the biggest birds to drop a pin on a birds location and turn your sound affect volume and music down because the small birds make a little chirping sound. look up alot because these savages like hiding in high places. and if you have Acheron, Sparkle, Fu xuan, Seele, the Watch Maker, Huo Huo, Dr. Ratio, and Robin in that order of priority USE THEM because your going to wish enemies didn't exsits while surching for these """Birds""" oh and one last thing one of these on Dew Light Pavilion is locked behind a quest : )

So (again 2nd person) You spent Hours scrougung up all the money in the world to fully level Clockie Statue...what do you get well first off you get the thing you started this all for E.. 5 you also get a [SHOT] ton of Relic lightcone and character levelup matz and.. MOST importantly around 20-40 pulls depending on how much of this was alredy done before hand. ANNNNNNNDD THATS IT

I see the vision but this SUCKS bro like I get it in the last two reagions it was pretty easy to get like E3 or 4 by the end of the Story if you didn't spend it on fucking credits or something like that and they want you to interact with the World of Penecony and the world is nice... BUT 10 HOURS WORTH OF INTERACTING IS NOT OK and its not like you get exclusively E5 see the section above but you get those by PROXY of doing every thing and remeber 10 HOURS FOR E5 and im not saying I HAATTEED my time but it just dragged on for HOURS AND HOURS that after it was done I wanted to just go for a walk... But becaues it was like 9:00 I started writing this up insted.

Welcome to my Ted talk, today we will be extensively covering how the current armor system limits player freedom of choice in the higher levels of play. And freedom should never be limited.
The decision to use armor in its current form instead of beefier health for tougher units is extremely restrictive when it comes to the player's freedom for selecting loadouts, especially because of how common their spawns are on higher difficulties. You can pretty much run anything you want in difficulties 1 to 5 as the number of armored enemies is relatively low but around 6, contact with heavily armored enemies becomes basically constant, you're pretty much required to bring anti armor weaponry to help your team deal with them, with each difficulty higher requiring you to use more strategem slots with anti armor capabilities to counter the ever increasing number of armored units taking the field, as they are the most difficult to eliminate due to their ability to negate incoming damage with the deflection mechanic. This is compounded by the fact that AH seems intent on requiring support weapons and strategems to deal with heavy armor, indicating that they have no intention to release primary or secondary weapons with heavy anti armor capability, so you have two out of three weapon slots that are likely to always be near useless versus heavy armor.
The worst offender of restricting your choice in loadout are Automaton Helldive missions. There are a total of 22 out of 45 strategems that I would never bring to such a mission due to their poor performance versus armor. That's almost half of the list of strategems that are severely limited in usefulness on the highest difficulties simply because of how common armored enemies are. You already have a primary and a secondary that have apparantly been permanently designated as the chaff cleaners, no point in bringing more chaff cleaners when you've got two tanks and four hulks to clean up. That really doesn't feel good, being restricted to half of your total armament that you fought for, bled for, and died many many times to buy simply because you've advanced to the highest levels of play. Having one part of your game's design cause another part of the game's design to become worse the further the player progresses is a bad design choice.
One can lower the difficulty to free up strategem slots, this is true. But that shouldnt be required considering the strategems intended design. The strategems are meant to each fill a specific role to provide ground support to helldivers. This indicates that that AH would like for all the strategems to have their own specific niche in the game, to have each one as a sidegrade rather than an upgrade, regardless of difficulty. But the reality is, due to all of the aforementioned reasons, only the strategems that have a high armor penetration fulfill the desired design of filling a specific tactical niche from the lowest level of play to the highest. Which means anti armor strategems are only sidegrades to each other, and upgrades to light penetrating strategems.
As I said before, Automatons are the worse offender for the amount of armored units they field. But it's also how they are armored that makes them more difficult than terminids. Automaton's are well armored both in front and back, requiring anti armor, or shots to specific weak points. The body of devastators is only medium armor so you can do half damage with those weapons, the heads are something you can hit from the front, but requires accurate fire, which can be difficult while under their suppressive fire, and because your weapon scopes are misaligned (AH PLEASE FIX REEE). Scout strikers require a well placed grenade or a full side flank to shoot their bodies. The Hulk and tank require flanking maneuvers to get behind them to shoot their vulnerable radiator, but both are able to turn towards a single player quickly enough to prevent them from getting an angle on it, requiring two players to work together to get a successful flank (Or you can slap them with an EMS grenade point blank and dunk on them with the 180 diving noscope). Then there's the factory strider as one giant armored beast (havent gotten to have a full fight with one due to all three other players throwing 500kgs on sight, so i dunno about any weakpoints.)
Compare this to how terminids are armored. Hive guards and brood commanders only really have armor that covers their direct front and its not heavy armor, so you can shoot them in their large head and do half damage through it, far better than zero damage, plus a hell diver only has to take a few steps to the side to fire at their unarmored sides, or you can go prone and fire at their unarmored belly. Chargers are covered in chitinous plates, but due to how they engage the player (by charging, doi), they expose their unarmored rear as they pass the player on a successful dodge, again requiring no flanking shenanigans to get at the meat. Then there's the bile titan, covered in chitin except for its bile sac, which can be shot from pretty much any direction as long as you aren't on a higher inclination. This makes the terminids quite a bit easier to deal with when you don't have heavy anti armor weaponry available at the moment, due to how much easier it is to successfully land shots that actually do damage. All this and the fact that terminids have fewer heavy armor units means that the player has more freedom in choosing their strategems when facing the terminids compared to the automatons.
It is my personal belief that everything aforementioned is the reason why there has been about 35% of the total player population that has stuck with playing on the terminid side of the map compared to the roughly 10% that stick to the automaton side, with 55% simply following orders (a rough estimate by a redditor I know, but the values seem to be about right from my own observations). This indicates that others feel what ive been trying to make a point of through this whole post. Players don't enjoy having their gaming freedom of choice becoming restricted due to the games mechanics, spawn rates, and enemy design, and if given a choice, will always choose the option which allows them more freedom of choice.
So, how can we fix this state of affairs? There's a few options available.
One option would be to buff all strategems to have heavy armor penetration, though this feels a bit clumsy. We wouldn't want a machine gun to chew through heavy armor units faster than a recoilless rifle for example, that would be silly. This could require lowering the damage of some strategems, which would also affect their usefulness against lighter units. Clumsy.
Another option would be to change the units design to include more spots that are lighter than heavy armor. This could help support weapons and primaries, but it doesn't really help out the other strategems, due to the area effect nature of orbitals and airstrikes, as well as the center mass aiming turrets.
Personally, I would suggest the following two changes.
I suggest reducing the spawn rate and unit cap of heavy units, but give them increased stats and more light supporting units. Having 3 tanks, 5 hulks, and a factory strider supporting each other makes it extremely difficult to eliminate them. With fewer armor units on the field you won't have to constantly have Anti armor strategems available, as the time between encounters will be higher allowing your strategems to come off cool down, freeing up slots for other uses. This would also make dealing with a heavy armor unit doable for a team with only light anti armor capabilities by giving them the ability to isolate the heavy unit by clearing out its lighter supporting units, and then focusing all fire on the heavy unit, kinda like clearing the adds of a miniboss before you focus them down.
However my primary suggestion is changing how the armor mechanic works, specifically deflections. Deflections are the primary reason why half of the strategems performance degrades as the player progresses. Those strategems simply can't do any damage to heavy units. If you throw a gatling barrage at a Hulk, you may as well have thrown it into the ocean, at least then maybe you could have tagged some fish. And there are 21 other strategems that are in the same boat. My suggested change is to remove deflections entirely, instead simply giving each level of armor higher than penetration a damage reduction value.
Something like this, if penetration exceeds armor; no damage reduction, if armor=pen; 40% dmg reduction, if armor is 1 lvl higher to pen; 60% dmg reduction, if armor is 2 lvls higher than pen; 80% dmg reduction. You could definitely play around with the exact numbers but I figure those are in the ballpark. This system for armor would allow all strategems and weapons to do at least some of their damage to heavy units. Reducing the loss of strategem effectiveness as the player progresses into higher level play. Now, no longer having the ability to completely negate incoming damage means that these units will be taking damage a lot more often, so they'll need a health boost to keep their average lifetimes from being reduced, as well as to help them shrug off large volumes of small arms fire.
These two changes together would allow more player choice in what strategems they bring in the highest levels of play by allowing more strategems to be soft counters to heavy armor, as well as allowing time for the anti armor strategems that were brought to tick down their cooldown. Perhaps with such changes, that 35% that much prefers the terminid side of the map can be coaxed into joining those who follow the orders, no longer feeling their freedom of choice in strategems is being limited far more by the automaton side. And more Helldivers following Super Earth's will means more freedom and democracy will spread through the stars, like a wildfire of patriotism.

Please inform NER about your machine.
