I recently found out that I have access to my imaging via an app and have been learning to read them, I'm finding it super fascinating. The technology is interesting itself, but also being able to get a new perspective on my own body is really cool and empowering. It's kinda become an ADHD hyperfixation lately and the thirst for knowledge is real 😅
I'm not looking for diagnosis but I am curious about a structure on my images that I would like to identify. I'm pretty sure it's normal physiology, my guess is a ligament or ligaments. You always see diagrams of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries but I am only now just learning about the ligaments and muscles in the pelvis and it's peaked my interest.
Are ligaments readily visualized on ultrasound? Would I be able to see, say, two ligaments with parametrium in between them on a typical image of the adnexa?
I can post the images (if allowed) if that's helpful. I will preface in saying that there is a cyst in my images that I am aware of and that is unrelated to my question about this structure. If images are not allowed, is there another subreddit that could be of assistance?

Old Model 3 v. New Model 3 (structural)
I dug into this cause I've always been fascinated by unibody construction & car safety and i've always wondered what new Model 3 had in store. Legacy 3 leaves much to be desired with its lacklustre intrusion measurements compared to Model Y. So of course for 2024, Tesla beefed up Model 3.
1) Even though the diagrams show extruded aluminum crush cans for 24+ 3, after looking into it some more, it seems legacy 3 has this as well. So scratch that. Tesla just chose not to illustrate that in the older diagram.
2) complete utilization of inner uhss ring (red is the highest strength the auto industry uses). legacy 3 used weaker steel in these sections. Model Y also uses a complete uhss ring like 24+ model 3 hence Model Y's (2170) extremely strong crash performance.
3) small strips/brackets of uhss on the lower sill for added and more even engagement in side loading scenarios so more of the structure can initiate loading sooner and more evenly.
I imagine IIHS will test new 24+ Model 3, it'll be exciting to see if it does glance-off in small overlap like Model Y and also how it performs in side impact 2.0--so far no non-suv vehicle has aced this test as the test is extremely demanding on pelvis and torso for smaller cars, and on most SUVs. Model Y of course fully aces all body regions, with its added mass and height helping it.
There's still more to dig into, a lot more, but just a brief glance this is what i saw. i wonder what the inner door structure looks like in 24+ Model 3. i'll bet its W beams or overall door structure somehow tie into the uhss strips you see above the side extruded aluminum bar.

Elden Ring Design Inspiration
NOTE: the numbering got out of order when I posted so don’t read too much into paragraphs numbers.
The Great Runes of Elden Ring all correspond in some way to the whole of the Elden Ring that we see depicted on the title screen and in Marika's body. (I won't be discussing the Lattice in the background that is associated with Radagon simply because that is not a rune that the game grants us or seems to do much with, although it is possible its an interpretation of the pillars I mention below).

All of these runes exist as one within Marika up until the shattering, during which they are claimed by various demigods (with exception to Rennala as Radagon gifts the Rune of the Unborn to her). While all of these fit pretty easily into the design of the Elden Ring the game is famous for, there is another design that the rings fit (fairly) neatly into that I believe served as the inspiration for the Elden Ring and, to some degree, even characteristics of the demi gods themselves.
In Kabbalah there is a tree known as the Sephiroth (no, not that one) Tree. The tree is at the core of Kabballah, it's most influential and multi-layered symbol. Kabbalah is not an exact practice across time and you will find a great variety of explanations, art and diagrams that attempt to explain humanity's existence. However, some aspects are fairly consistent.

The Sephiroth tree is called such because there are the ten Sephiroths (or sefirots), primal numbers which, in combination with the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet, represent the plan of creation (or Order of Creation) of all upper and lower things. They are the ten names, attributes or powers of God, and form a pulsating organism called the "mystical face of God" or the "Body of the Universe". It stands on the Three Pillars: Mercy (Right), Severity/Punishment (Left) and Balance (Central). The central pillar is the spine or lineage through which the Divine Dew flows down. The 10 Sephiroth are also separated into Four Worlds: the light world, the throne world, the world of angels and the spiritual world corresponding with the material world (these aren't super important but factor into the design).
You can google longer and more in-depth explanations of each of the ten attributes but I'll provide a brief explanation of each here:
World 1:
  1. Kether - Supreme Crown, Initial Will, Will of God (Balance Pillar)
  • 2. Chochma - Wisdom, Seed of All Things, The Potential of what "Can Be" (Mercy Pillar)
  • 3. Bina - Intelligence, Upper Matrix (Godhood) (Punitive Pillar)
World 2:
  • 4. Chessed - Love, Mercy, Goodness (Mercy Pillar)
  • 5. Gebura - Severity, Punitive Power, Judgement (Punitive Pillar)
  • 6. Tiphereth - Generosity, Splendor, Beauty (Balance Pillar)
World 3:
  • 7. Nezach - Constant Endurance, Victory (Mercy Pillar)
  • 8. Hod - Magnificence, Majesty, Glory (Punitive Pillar)
  • 9. Yesod - Ground of all procreation powers (Balance Pillar)
World 4:
  • 10: Malkuth - Kingdom, Rule, The dwelling of God in creation (Balance Pillar)
As I said before, when you take the runes and arrange them according to the Sephiroth tree, their design still fits.

That is a lot to just throw onto the tree so lets break it down:
  1. The Marika Rune: As I mentioned above, there are three pillar which proceed from the Crown, which I've labeled Marika. I believe this is her Rune first and foremost because of all Elden Ring iconography, this one appears the most and in relation to Marika herself. It also goes without saying that it is the very rune we find her crucified on. But there is another reason I say the top most rune is Marika's. The symbol of her Rune is the same symbol for that of a womb. This is well understand from history, it is even pointed out in the Da Vinci Code by Tom Hanks. The symbol is that of a Chalice or Bowl. And what do we find all over the lands between, including Marika's vary bedroom and either side of the Erdtree Sanctuary (as well as the churches of Marika)? A Bowl. Marika is the one who gives life. She is the mother of all and from her all other demigods have their their power life as she literally houses the Elden Ring herself. Further the top most Sephiroth is Kether, the Supreme Crown and Initial Will which we can easily associate with Marika. The Pillar: Additionally, you'll see how she fits at the top as I explain the next part, the Pillars. The Pillars are three in total: 1 on the left, 1 down center, and 1 on the right. The pillars house the various attributes of God. In the Bible God is described as both merciful and a righteous judge. He is one who forgives and one deals out punishment. There is a cohabitation, a balance of these attributes, in his being. These Pillars represent the three lines of descendants or families of Marika.

  3. Two and Three are the Runes of the Unborn and Ranni and their position is related so they are a single point here. The Ranni "Rune": I put "Rune" in quotes simply because, although she one, Ranni cast her Rune aside. (I put the Moon in it's place NOT because I think it is her Rune but because she doesn't want any runes). As I began lining the Runes up it became apparent to me that the left side of the tree, the Punitive Side, was the lineage of the step demigod children from Rennala. However, the only other great rune on that side besides Rykards and Radahn's was the Rune of the Unborn in possession of Rennala herself. That didn't make sense, Rennala isn't a child of Marika. Then it hit me, that Rune wouldn't belong on that side anyway, because it is not the Rune of Rennala or of Ranni, it is the Rune of THE UNBORN. So what do we do with that space where Ranni's rune would go if we even knew what it looked like? Well, again, I placed the dark moon there as a stand in because of Ranni's ending. If you choose Ranni's ending after completing her quest, what happens? She allows Marika to fade (Aka the removal of the Elden Ring) and the Dark Moon Appears. Ranni doesn't have any kind of mending rune or great rune for you to use because she doesn't want to mend the Elden Ring, she wants to DESTROY IT. So her Great "Rune" for the sake of this discussion is just the Dark Moon which will replace the Elden Ring and usher in a new era. Number 3 on the Sephiroth Tree is also Bina (Intelligence). Where does Ranni hail from? Liurnia, the land of the Raya Lucaria Academy and Intelligence based sorceries. She is also the Daughter of the queen and learned a great deal from the witch. The Rune of the Unborn was a gift to Rennala from Radagon. If this rune comes from the pillar of the children of Marika and Radagon (which I will show shortly) then it makes sense for to fit on the right side in that pillar. Sure enough, it fits in multiple ways:
  4. The order as I show is Unborn, Miquella, and Malenia: Unborn, Just Born, and Grown. So it fits the idea of a growing life.
  5. All of the runes on this side have a line running through them on the right side of the rune, unlike Radahn and Rykards, which means this Rune can't be on the punitive side.
  6. The 2nd Sephiroth is Chochma: Wisdom, Seed of all Things, and the Promise of What Can Be which fits quite well into a pillar called the Mercy Pillar.
  7. Miquella's Great Rune: obviously all we have at this point is the image from the DLC. Visually you can see why I place it here. Ironically, at least in the picture I posted, the rune runs into Malenia's rune, like how a Gold Needle from Miquella would pierce her to cure her of the Scarlet Rot. But at this time I think that is just a coincidence of the design and the picture I used. However, the 4th Sephiroth is Chessed: Love, Mercy, Goodness...you can see why that fits Miquella quite well.
  8. Rykard's Great Rune: Naturally Rykard's rune fits on the punitive side of the Sephiroth and with good Reason. Just look at Gelmir, Volcano Manor, and his Boss room. His Rune is also a rune with the pillar running down the left side, opposite of Miquella and Unborn. The 5th Sephiroth is Gebura: Severity and Punitive Power literally the core of this Pillar's very essence.
  9. The God(wyn/efroy,drick) Great Rune: I add all three names merely to highlight the several rings that make up this rune and that it was passed down even though, as stated before, the person it likely would have gone to (if indeed the runes would have even "Belonged" to anyone other than Marika without the shattering) was Godwyn, at very least we can associate it with him. And while it does not have a pillar running down its middle it does share a very important characteristic with the 6th Sephiroth, namely that it connects to all the rest. The description of the great rune states: "This Great Rune is known as the anchor ring, found in the center of the Elden Ring*."* It's connection is communicated very well through its design. It clearly stands at the center connecting all the rest when you overlay them. The 6th Sephiroth is Tiphereth: Generosity, Splendor, Beauty The Irony here is that the potential original owner was beautiful and is even generous enough to befriend a dragon that was his enemy, whereas his descendants are ugly, selfish, and cowards. Wikipedia says: "Tiferet is unique amongst the Sephirot as it is connected to all the other Sephirot" The Tipheret connects all other sephiroth (like Godricks rune) and thus provides the balance in that connection. Another Irony is that Godwyn's death is what leads to the shattering, which in turn leads to the separating of all other Runes.
  10. Malenia's Great Rune: Malenia's Great Rune reads: "The blessing of this half-rotted rune reduces the healing power of Flask of Crimson Tears. And yet, due to the infusion of Malenia's spirit of resistance*, attacks made immediately after receiving damage will partially recover HP. Malenia is daughter to* Queen Marika and Radagon*, and her Great Rune should have been the most sacred of all.*" The 7th sephirot is Nezach: Constant Endurance, Victory. Malenia is probably the most infamous of all the bosses and certainly the hardest/most intimidating. She easily humiliated Godrick and managed to fight Radahn and survive (I'd even argue that she won considering his sorry state afterwards). She certainly managed to resist him again and again and again and her words when we meet her are "I have never known defeat". We can also see some imagery potentially borrowed from the goddess Nike, goddess of Victory, in Malenia's final form. Based on all this, we can see why she fits in this Sephiroth.
  11. Radahn's Great Rune: The 8th Sephiroth is Hod: Magnificence, Glory, Majesty. We can clearly see why Radahn fits here. Someone who managed to give Malenia a challenge and commanded respect from many. He wears the lions of Godfrey and was well respected by his men, so much so that they hold a festival in his honor to give him an honorable death. He was so well loved that he kept the loyalty of Jerren after so many years. In keeping with Rykard's rune, Radahn's rune also has a pillar running down the left side of his Rune.
  12. Mohg's Great Rune: Coincidentally (or not) Mohg and Morgott are at the very bottom of the Sephiroth Tree. The 9th Sephiroth is Jesod: Ground of all Procreation Powers. On this Sephiroth, Wikipedia says: "It also serves as a transmitter between the sephirot above, and the reality below. The light of the upper sephirot gather in Yesod and are channelled to Malkuth below. In this manner, Yesod is associated with the sexual organs." This, unfortunately, fits because 1. He has violated Miquella (possibly in more than one way). 2. His boss room has a cocoon meant to birth Miquella as it sits on a pelvis (womb). Additionally his rune takes blood and grants it to others in multiplayer. He takes a blessing from one and gives it to another. Additionally the Pillar running through his rune lines him up what the Godfrey lineage.
  13. Morgott's Great Rune: Morgott is called the King of Leyndell. The 10th Sephiroth is Malkuth: Kingdom, Rule, Dwelling of God among men as he rules Being at that the bottom of the Sephirot lines up with his title, even though Marika is queen, he rules in her stead (Like how a King on earth Rules even though God is the king). Additionally his rune says: "This Great Rune is the anchor ring that houses the base, and proves two things: That the Omen King was born of the golden lineage and that he was indeed the Lord of Leyndell." We certainly know that this rune must be the bottom of the Sephiroth. His Rune also has the center Pillar of Balance, like Mohg, making him the lineage of Godfrey, as we already know from the game. Additionally, it is fitting the final rune is this rune because once the "Divine Life" leaves the 10th Sephiroth, it returns to God to start the cycle over again. This is like how life comes from the Erdtree to return to it and how Morgott went from the top of the tree (Birth from Marika) to the Bottom, back to the top again. Morgott came full circle.
Lastly, in the design of the Elden Ring, we can see the 4 worlds represented in the four "womb" like runes. The life from Marika pours out again and again until the cycle restarts

Good question, there is an 11th Sephiroth, a hidden one. (No Im not making this up)

  1. Messmer's Great Rune: The 11th Sephiroth is a hidden Sephiroth called Da'at. Da'at: is the location (the mystical state) where all ten sefirot in the Tree of Life are united as one. There is a symbol in the DLC that could be his Rune's shape, assuming he has one. The Da'at is the Sephiroth that takes idea and brings it into action. It's hinted at that Messmer plays a key Role in the cycle of the erd tree (life to death to life again) which fits the idea of him burning the Erdtree. He also seems heavily associated with Mercury who also plays a key role in bringing about the Philosopher's stone (the Erdtree).

Someone who managed to give Malenia a challenge and commanded respect from many. He wears the lions of Godfrey and was well respected by his men, so much so that they hold a festival in his honor to give him an honorable death. He was so well loved that he kept the loyalty of Jerren after so many years. In keeping with Rykard's rune, Radahn's rune also has a pillar running down the left side of his Rune.

Additionally the Pillar running through his rune lines him up what the Godfrey lineage.

2024.04.03 07:02 DickSnapper_inHalfer I can feel a tight “bowstring” from my anus to my scrotum. It is tender to the touch, and I get a very sharp pain if I press into hard.

I asked my pelvic floor physical therapist about it and when she felt it she said something along the lines of “oh gosh yeah that is not normal, let me speak with some fellow medical people and get back to you about that” but then we had a couple more sessions after that and she never brought it up again.
I did a google search for “pelvic floor diagram male” and it appears to be my “perineal body”. This area is the source of most of my discomfort/pain and I get what seems like nerve pain down there, pins and needles, burning sensations, and general discomfort constantly. Comparable to a “headache” in my pelvis.
Can anyone provide some answers as to what is going on down there?
Edit: For some context, I’ve been dealing with hard flaccid syndrome for over 3 years now.

I was using my Doppler today and I have finally been able to find my babies heartbeat. The only thing is it’s really low down by my pelvis. however, all the diagrams say the baby should be sitting higher at 16 weeks which is what I am.

That means - topographical anatomy of back, thorax, abdomen and pelvis - theory and dissections. Obviously I'll need to revise everything and am in the middle of doing so. I'm also trying to structure my lessons. I'll have 90min 2x/week. I'm thinking of giving the students anatomical diagrams at the beginning, nothing overly hard, where they'll have to write down the names of different muscles, vessels etc - whatever I've thought the previous time. What do all the med students here think? Do you have any ideas and suggestions about how to make the classes more engaging and the material easier to understand?

I've seen a few comments and posts asking for the criteria they use for adenomyosis in imaging. Based on my understanding of what my doctor said during my appointment to review TVUS images, here is a list you can use.
Three categories of criteria are assessed:
  1. Ectopic endometrial glands
  2. Muscular hyperplasia +/- hypertrophy, which may be hypoechoic
  3. Vascularity (blood flow on color Doppler)
If you have access to your images, you can try to assess the criteria yourself. Obviously, since you and I are not doctors, this does not qualify as a diagnosis. However, reviewing your own images can help you research theories to bring up to your doctor(s) when seeking a diagnosis.
Definitions
Endometrial cells/glands = the type of cells/glands that make up the endometrium
Endometrium = the lining of the uterus, which is shed during menses
Ectopic = present in locations other than where is belongs

Determining the Uterus Size

The uterus dimensions are determined by three measurements (in units of cm) which are described as follows, from Radiopaedia.
The uterine length is measured in the midsagittal plane from the outer serosal surface of the fundus to the external cervical os.
The uterine height (AP) is measured in the midsagittal plane anteroposteriorly from outer to outer serosal surfaces.
The uterine width is measured in the transverse plane.
The volume (in units of ml) is calculated using the following formula.
volume = length * height * width * 0.523
The "normal" volumes for the uterus are based on the patient's age.
According to this method, the normal mean uterine volume in the age of 0-1 month is 3.4 ml, in 3 months is 0.9 ml, in 1-5 years is 1 ml, in 7 years is 0.9 ml, in 9 years is 1.3 ml, in 11 years is 1.9 ml, in 13 years is 11 ml, and in 15 years is 21.2 ml

BACKGROUND, DIAGNOSIS AND PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE
I'm 29 years old. I've been aware of having a varicocele since 2016. It first flared up after a combination of stress and deadlifts in the gym. I scared myself reading about fertility and testicular atrophy consequences, but ultimately the consultant urologist convinced me I should just leave it and wear tight underwear.

In the end, I find a specialist in Birmingham, which is a three hours' drive from where I live. The consultation involves another ultrasound (he wants to do one himself, despite the varicocele having already been confirmed twice before). I'm charged ÂŁ330 for the scan and appointment, and I'm booked in for the embolisation on the 24th January.

Introducing Myself
This is a really long intro to myself and my pain, but I made it this long to include as many details as possible, because the more details the better (in my opinion, at least).
I'm a 19 year old suffering from right side abdominal pain, pain in the right thigh, tingling above and in my right foot (both front and back of foot).
The pain started seven months ago (in mid-June 2023). I did too many crunches (100) in one go for my body to be able to handle, and I strained my abdominal muscle(s). I don't know exactly which ones, because I didn't have an MRI back then, but my current guess is it involved the psoas and rectus abdominis. I was in severe pain and couldn't walk straight (I walked slightly bent forward on the right side to guard my injured side). I'm a singer, and so I couldn't sing without excruciating pain, because anytime I put pressure on the strained muscle, it hurt like crazy, and singing as I like to sing involves pressure on the abdomen when breathing out (creating the noise). The funny thing is, a muscle strain was not my first thought. I thought the pain was internal (in the organs or something), so I talked to my PCP (who also thought there was a gallbladder issue or something), who referred me for an ultrasound. I got the ultrasound done within 8 days of when the pain started, which all came back negative. That's when I deduced that the likely cause of the pain was a muscle strain.
I was in a lot of pain, so I always stayed in a crouched-forward position to guard the injured right abdomen. I didn't do anything except for desk work in a crouched-forward position for close to 8-9 hours a day. Then when I got up, I also stayed in a crouched-forward position to protect the pain area, because it hurt quite a lot. I refused to do even gentle stretching because of the pain. I thought just resting plus heat plus ice would solve the issue.
A month or so went by (we're in mid-July), and I still wasn't experiencing pain relief, so I went to PT. They also diagnosed me with an abdominal muscle strain and gave me a bunch of stretches and strengthening stuff. Didn't help much. (To be clear, I was in less pain than I was when I initially injured myself, but the pain wasn't getting much better. I was still walking crouched over and couldn't sing or run or do anything basically). This is when I started looking to get an MRI. So I got an MRI of my entire abdomen (with and without contrast) in mid-August (by now, it had been two months since I got injured). The MRI came back negative without any problems that could be seen in the abdominal wall or the organs.
At this point, I got really worried. I talked to my PT, who said that a negative MRI confirmed that the pain was likely stemming from a muscle strain in the abdomen that had healed itself by the time I got the MRI, and that the pain was coming from the muscle(s) being super tight and stiff because I had basically not used it and constantly guarded and protected it. At this point the problem was so bad that I couldn't put my weight on my right side while walking. So, my father made me walk straight and normally with a proper gait without constantly crouching forward to protect my right side. The first day or two, it really really hurt my abdomen and groin-ish and pelvic area the first day, because it was so stiff and I felt that I was ripping a bunch of muscle and knots in the problem area due to walking normally. Within a few days, though, it started feeling just a tiny bit better and I was walking with a normal gait with (relatively) less stiffness, albeit still with a lot of stiffness and pain. Finally, after walking like an old man for a little more than two months, it seemed that there was some progress.
However, a good amount of pain was still there. Any time I stretched my abdominal muscles through things such as the cobra pose, I felt a huge tugging sensation inside on the right side (the problem area), as though something were holding me back. No such feeling on the left abdomen, however.
In late August and early September, I went to a chiropractor, who took X-rays and found that my pelvis is slightly tilted in such a way that my left leg is functionally slightly shorter than the right leg, maybe like half an inch (I think they said the left pelvis is slightly rotated to the back or something, I don't remember very well). I do see a slight difference in the heights of the pelvic bones on my left and right sides, but again, it's very minor. He did a few treatments which consisted of adjustments which said would help straighten out the spine, but I stopped going because I wasn't feeling much relief and didn't think he was addressing the right issue. To be fair, the right leg being slightly longer than the left leg does make the right side more susceptible to being tighter than the left side, but it was never an issue for me (I've never felt off-balance or anything), and I don't think it's a major impediment in my healing. I could be wrong though.
I then went out of country for a month. I was still in considerable pain there so I went to a renowned hospital while on vacation. They diagnosed me with a nerve entrapment, specifically Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome (ACNES). Their explanation for my pain while doing stuff like singing and running was that those activities put pressure on my abdomen, and whenever there's pressure on the abdomen, I'm also putting pressure on a compressed and irritated nerve, which was increasing my pain in those activities. They also found a positive Carnett's sign (basically, in this test, if your abdomen hurts more when you tense the muscles, that's a positive Carnett's sign and likely indicates some sort of musculoskeletal issue in that region).
It seemed that someone finally had something resembling a diagnosis of what I was suffering from. They offered a cortisone injection, their reasoning being that if I can stop the pain for some time and really focus on stretching, I may be able to release the fascia that's entrapping the nerve. I thought that was a good plan and went ahead with two injections in the span of 12 days. The second injection was in very late September, and I left for the US one day after the second injection.
The injections reduced the pain but didn't fully relieve it. I was still not able to sing, run, etc. (e.g. the stuff I want to be able to do). I, however, started an aggressive stretching routine in October three times a day, close to 30 minutes for my routine, with hopes that I would feel better. I initially felt some reduction in stiffness for two-three weeks, but it kind of plateaued after that. Since then, I haven't really felt any improvements in the tugging sensation I feel in my right abdomen every time I stretch the hip or the abdomen.
Another problem that started to arise was that I started to get pain in my right thigh, as well as a tingling/numbness feeling near my foot. I also started developing a pinching and tingling sensation in the back of my foot, and twitching in my toes. All of this on the right side only (the side that initially got injured).
Growing hopeless after a month and half of stretching with not much improvement, I sought out another chiropractor in mid-November. This chiropractor was the first who mentioned that he strongly suspected a tight psoas to be a contributing factor for me. He also mentioned "scar tissue", which was the first time I was hearing that phrase. However, he mostly did chiropractic adjustments, which didn't make it much better. Meanwhile, the leg issues weren't showing any signs of getting better.
I soon started getting more worried and reading online a lot about scar tissue and adhesions and stuff. As I read more and more, I grew convinced that my pain was being caused by the fact that I didn't let my injured muscle heal properly by constantly guarding and compressing it, and that has caused some sort of scar tissue/adhesion build up. This was also probably affecting a nerve or several nerves which was causing me pain in the legs as well.
This is when I first ran into ART. I thought it could help break up scar tissue. I went to my first ART provider in late November. However, pretty soon, I realized that he wasn't helping. His fifteen-minute appointments consisted of maybe two or three repetitions of the ART motion in the psoas. The rest of the time he spent talking about stuff and overall wasting time.
So I went to a second ART practitioner in mid-December (this is the one I'm still going to). He is a lot more genuine and seems to care about getting me better. He also thought the psoas is the issue and is focusing his treatment there. However, I'm not sure whether he's effectively addressing the adhesions, because he says he's going after the knots/trigger points, and he thinks that breaking up the knots will slowly rip the adhesions out.
It's been close to 20 ART treatments now, and I'm not feeling much better as compared to before I started ART. I still can't sing or run or jump without pain. I also did Graston for a month from mid-December to mid-January. Still pretty much the same.
I've also started having pain in my back and lower leg (only on the right side) and I'm going to get an MRI in mid-February to rule any disc bulge out (though I don't think this is the issue, especially because I'm 19).
This month (e.g. mid-January), I started shockwave for the psoas at this chiropractic clinic. Four treatments in, I still don't feel any difference. I don't know if they're targeting the adhesions properly or not. They say that if I have adhesions, I'll feel an ache when the shockwave gun goes over the adhesion area, otherwise not. I feel the ache in some places, but so far have not felt much relief. The tug inside my abdomen is still there and pretty strong. They have directed treatment both through the front and the back to get to the psoas.
My doctor is offering a third injection, which I really don't want to take but there isn't really any other option. I've been to a neurosurgeon and they're considering nerve ablation or surgery to remove the anterior cutaneous nerve in my abdomen. I don't know if that'll help with the pain going down the leg as well. I may also try PRP injection soon. And I really don't want any of this stuff
I think the problem is that my psoas is glued to (at least) the femoral nerve somewhere and that's causing a good chunk of this. I don't know though, because no one has been able to give me a good specific diagnosis yet. The MRI of my lumbar spine should clarify things further (but I don't think the main issue is the back).
As a 19-year-old, I'm really concerned about this. I really want to be able to sing, run, and just live without pain. I don't want to waste my youth being in pain and not being to help anybody because I'm in constant pain. I'm putting in a pain diagram below. Based on the pain scale in this forum, my pain fluctuates between 3 and 6. 3 is when I'm resting (e.g. sleeping or sitting), 6 is its highest when I try something like singing.

They seem to be running a trace from the pelvis in a way to determine whether the character is facing up or down and are using complicated things like right vector to determine that. I was wondering if anybody could explain to me in simple terms how this works to determine whether the character is facing up or down. diagram would also be appreciated. Thanks for your help!

For the trans women/cis women

Over the path couple months I have been fixing my spine. Growing up I (M20) sat alot; both in class and playing minecraft. I have also been a mouth breather my whole life. Im no orthopedic doctor but my pelvis seemed tilted back forcing me to sink into my hips and widen them out. Combined this with a ski injury to my knee and I became very crooked, sunken and subconsciously uncomfortable all of the time using weed to cope.
HOWEVER, over the past couple of months I have been learning and improving... Evolving!! Into a more confident taller and comfortable nose breathing person with a straighter spine which now allows me to align my chakras and have much more energy.
Because of sitting so much growing up I have seriously neglected my lower abdomen, glutes, and quads. Exercising these muscles, doing a little bit of yoga/ calisthenics as well as breathing exercises where I make a big breath at my lower diaphragm and work the air up my spine and untwisting/ straighten it in the process.
The key takeaways of what I have learned so far is as follows
It is very important to hang!! Search up "The Perfect Hang"
You need to utilize the lower back/ glutes and activate the abs while walking. I found these muscles by standing on my tip toes.
If you slightly suck your lips in and create a vacuum in your mouth its easier to remember to keep your lips closed
Its hard to diagram and nose breathe at first... but it does get easier with patience and practice.

A little backstory: I was diagnosed with stage 1 endo and ovarian adhesions in August of 2022 during a lap and since then have had what they suspect is PCOS, as well as a viscous return of endo. I’m on a waitlist for yet another lap (hopefully soon). About a week ago I had a cyst rupture on my left ovary (confirmed by dr) and was in some pretty crazy pain.
Today at work I was carrying those heavy plastic school style chairs (3 at a time) and as soon as I lifted the first stack I felt a “stab and tear” of sorts on my left side. It felt almost like what I’d expect an adhesion tear to feel like, and it took my breath away for a solid 30 seconds before I could limp the rest of the way down the hall.
All day since I’ve had some pretty bad cramping and continuous stabbing pains in my left side on my ovary and right at my lower pelvis area (I drew the black lines in the diagram as a mirrored view). I’m not sure if this could be connected to the cyst rupture or if anyone’s torn adhesions and may have had a similar experience? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!❤️

Mr Portsmith had been very right about the unpleasant nature of the afternoon as far as Thomas was concerned. Throughout his career, he’d endured hundreds … probably thousands of medical exams and procedures (if patching up knife wounds and bullet holes counted). Still, that afternoon had been a whole new experience. As soon as he’d walked into the building and identified himself, he was whisked away and changed into a typical medical gown that tied backwards down his spine. At least the bike shorts he was also issued kept everything where it needed to be.
It wasn’t until later that he would learn why he was wearing them.
While he sat for an eye exam, his left arm was held out and braced for so much blood work that he began to wonder if he had any left. His skin was scraped in a dozen different places. They took urine and hair follicle samples at the same damn time, and then other things were injected into his right shoulder and left thigh; all the while, the barrage of questions kept coming at him. Not even the MRI was peaceful. No, they stuck a screen in front of his face and ran through different images while the audio in his headset ran through even more questions.
They had him running on a treadmill with sensory pads attached everywhere, and then, after thirty-second sprints for almost an hour that had him almost ready to crash, they started the entire barrage of tests all over again.
By the end of the second set, he was so exhausted that he’d made the mistake of mentioning how looking at his chest and seeing the snake hallucination still terrified him. So, of course, they restarted the tests a third time, removing the medical gown and surrounding him with mirrors while they worked so they could get the new readings.
It was good that he didn’t have any self-esteem issues, though the third stint of treadmill sprints had nearly killed him, not just the exhaustion phase. Shifting gears in speed when the image on his chest had him wanting to hide under the bed and cry had him stumbling more than once, and when he finally misstepped and fell off the running machine, they stopped the running test. Heaving a lung, he threw a forearm over his eyes to block out any chance of seeing the hissing menace. Just … done.
He was immediately hooked up to an IV and pumped with what he assumed was an isotonic blend of dextrose and Lactated Ringer’s solutions to put him back on his feet. At least, that was what the military had used to get a downed soldier moving during extreme training.
A cold, wet hand towel was placed across his face, which he knew would act like a paper bag, slowing his breathing. Some other manner of fabric was stretched across his torso, and when he felt marginally normal, he pulled the handtowel away and saw another towel covering from the top of his pec to his pelvis. Someone close to his ear talked in a slow, soothing voice, though he didn’t hear a word of what they said.
“Okay,” he groaned once he’d had enough, dropping his feet off the gurney he hadn’t remembered being put on and counter-levering himself to sit up before anyone could grab him. He deliberately pinned the torso towel in place to keep his chest covered. “I’m good. What’s next?” That was a flat-out lie, but he would uphold it somehow.
Fortunately, the five people wearing lab coats and carrying electronic tablets all shook their heads at once, and it was done with such synchronised uniformity that Thomas was reminded of a shelf full of bobbleheads from back in the day when one end was bumped. He almost snickered.
“We have everything we need now, Mister Cole,” the one at the forefront stated. “As soon as that IV’s empty, Doctor Oran will lead you back to where you first changed. From there, you can grab a shower, get dressed and head out. You’re good to go.”
That was music to Thomas’ ears. Halle-fucking-lujah! He spread his hand across the centre of his chest to keep the hallucination brand covered and stared at the IV as the doctors all filed out except the young female doctor with short dark hair.
“Just a few more minutes, Mister Cole,” she promised after checking the bag.
But Thomas knew his body better than anyone else alive, and half that bag would’ve been enough for him to move. He hooked the towel under his chin and slid to his feet, raising both hands above his head.
"What are you...?"
“I’ll tell them you tried to stop me,” he said, deliberately keeping his hands higher than she could reach while he unscrewed the cannula. “But we both know I don’t need that last few minutes of treatment, and I’ve got a job to get back to.” He screwed the lid of the cannula shut and looped the tube over the top of the IV stand. “So how about you show me where my clothes are, and I won’t have to do my impersonation of the Hulk having a bad day.”
The doctor gave him an irritated look, then shook her head and chuckled. “Fine. Be a hero. But for the record, a stiff breeze would knock you on your butt right now, so don’t blame me if you pass out halfway back to your office, Mister Cole. Because I’ll be right there in your face when you wake up to say, ‘I told you so’.”
Thomas smirked at the spunky little thing. Ten years ago, he might have asked for her number, but now she looked young enough to be his daughter, and he didn’t exactly get much time off in his current profession.
It didn’t stop her from making small talk on their way back to the changing room.
“So, how long were you a soldier?”
“Sixteen years.”
“And now you do … private security?”
“Obviously.”
“What made you leave the army?”
Thomas thought about the list of things that led up to him and the US Army parting ways. Truthfully, he’d been done after a mission went horribly wrong in his fourteenth year, but he still had twenty-eight more months before his papers came up. It wasn’t the first time he wondered how different his life would be if he'd stayed in the service. He’d climbed to the rank of major and had been put up for promotion to colonel before he’d told his CO that he was thinking about getting out.
“Classified, ma’am.” It was. Like most Rangers’ operations, details were never leaked to the civilian population.
“I wasn’t asking for operation specifics,” she complained, showing a hint of military familiarity. “I was just wondering why someone like you would get out after so many years. Something must have happened. Did a family member back home die? Did you have to come home to look after your kids?”
She was fishing. Thomas wasn’t so out of touch with the game to not see it for what it was. “No wife, no kids and still no life.” That was the truth. Being on Portsmith’s lucrative payroll had him on call 24/7, and he wasn’t permitted to be further than twenty minutes away from active duty at any given time. That made his right hand the closest he went to that kind of action.
“So, a dustup with your CO or something.”
Thomas stopped and did a slow pan towards her. “A … dustup?” Did she really compare what special forces soldiers were capable of doing to each other with a regular bar brawl?
The doctor crossed her eyes and poked out her tongue for all of a second, driving home their vast age difference. “Don’t get all semantic on me,” she insisted. “You’re too good at what you do, and you love doing it. Something made you quit, and I was just curious.”
As they entered the room, the first thing Thomas put back on was his dog tags, complete with black silencers. Swinging between the tags was what looked like a great white shark tooth with a clear, protective rib sleeve around the two most extended edges, much like his dog tag silencers.
In actual fact, the decorative piece was an acrylic survival key with enough shapes and bevelled edges in the back half that sat flush against his skin that, when used correctly, had as many uses as a Swiss army knife. Add to that how the removal of the clear ‘silencers’ left him with a razor-sharp dagger (with one side serrated for sawing) that he could slip between his pointer and middle finger, and it was a very handy instrument indeed. It was something he’d picked up in Hawaii on a stopover from an op, and unofficially, he’d only ever needed to use it twice. Once was when he was in the Rangers, and after its second informal use, Donald had been so impressed by its versatility that he ordered one online for himself.
As difficult as it had been to be without his electronics this week after nine years of loyal service, he’d felt utterly naked this afternoon without his tags. Many soldiers wore them in case they ever found themselves in a situation where they’d need to be identified. Others did it because it was a familiar weight that had been with them through the most challenging times of their lives.
For him, the single link connected him to the young, idiotically naive private who thought he had the world by the balls since he’d been accepted into the US Army. All the steps between that young man and now were washed away under the big red stamp marked CLASSIFIED.
With his back to the doctor, he stripped out of the bike shorts and headed into the shower for a very quick soap down. He was out again less than two minutes later, surprised to see Dr. Oran still waiting for him.
“Was there something else you needed, Doc?” he asked, putting the shirt and overshirt on first to slide the shoulder holster straps across his back and tuck it against his side. Then he put on his underwear and pants, strapping a smaller gun to his right ankle and a sheathed knife to his left. Lastly, his socks, shoes, tie and jacket.
“The gun went on before underwear?” the doctor asked, giving himself the once over in the mirror before turning towards her.
It hadn’t bothered him that she stayed. The number of MOs he’d had to strip in front of over the years was up there with his wound count. He wasn’t shy. “Absolutely. My dick can be accused of accomplishing a lot of things, but putting an asshole into the ground over thirty yards away is something we’re still working on.”
He winked at her slack-jawed shock and slipped past her without bumping shoulders, already taking out his watch (which had a garrotte wire built into it, not something he’d needed to use since he left the military but kept it anyway, just in case), earbud, and communications bracelet from his jacket pockets and returning them to their appropriate places. By the time he reached the garage, he had his sunglasses on, his phone out and was calling the boss.
“I just cleared the medical, sir,” he said as soon as the boss picked up. “Did you want me to pick you up at the office?”
“Absolutely. I need to visit Ms. Webber at her condo before we go home.”
Thomas unlocked the silver Maybach and slid behind the wheel. “On my way, sir.”

Firstly, it cannot be denied that the absence of specimens will greatly affect our judgment of the average size of the species and whether the specimens currently discovered are large or small for this species. This is also an important reason why many people believe that giga may be larger than Tyrannosaurus Rex, as they believe that holotype may be a smaller or average sized specimen, especially when it is already larger than some adult Tyrannosaurus Rex specimens.
However, when we make such comparisons, we often overlook a very important issue, their ages. For dinosaurs, there may be a clear difference in body mass between young adult specimens and skeletally mature specimens(asymptotic individuals). Because they can still grow to some extent in adulthood.

Simple explain EFS (external fundamental system), its appearance means that the specimen has been fully grown. On the contrary, The absence of an EFS suggest that the specimens are still growing, although growth was greatly slowing. Its presence also means this specimen reach the asymptotic mass for its species. We can call these individuals asymptotic individuals, the A2 and X individuals in this table, and in general, asymptotic specimens tend to be larger and heavier than young adults or A1 adults

Giga Holotype MUCPv-CH1 :The sutures of the anterior part of the frontal bone are barely visible, and the fusion has blurred almost all the sutures. So in simple terms, the holotype of giga is an old adult specimen with no room to grow. Although that doesn't mean it's necessarily a large one in giga. However, It's more fair to compare the size and weight of Tyrannosaurs rex specimens with same complete bone maturation rather than compare with of all adults.
So, how many Tyrannosaurus Rex specimens are there that we can be sure that they have reached the A2 or X level? Or to put it another way, how many Tyrannosaurus Rex specimens have been found that have EFS on long bone sections? Let's count.
In the following comparison, the circumference of the femur will be used as an important reference index to evaluate the size of the specimen, because the Campione formula based on the circumference of the femur is the most commonly used method to calculate the body weight of theropod dinosaurs in academic papers. The accuracy and reliability of this formula, and why the femur circumference is used as the basis for judging the size of theropod dinosaurs are explained in detail in this article, which will not be repeated in this post.

1.Sue,It was once thought to be the oldest Tyrannosaurus rex, and even now. Observations of long bone sections show that it was an asymptotic individual(A2 or X level). And, in all current weight estimates, sue significantly exceeds CH1.

2.Scotty,In a 2019 paper describing Scotty, the paper states that scotty is larger than sue and is the largest Tyrannosaurus rex we have ever found. However, the gap between the two is not obvious, and it is not too big a problem to say that the two are the same. So, we can be sure that scotty is also bigger than CH1. At the same time, the paper also states that scotty should be an asymptotic individual like sue.

7.MOR008 Most of the Jugal-Post-oribtal of Tyrannosaurus Rex has a slit and is not fused, but MOR 008 does, which Rayfield thinks is a sign of an elderly individual; MOR 008 is therefore between "A1" grade adults and "X "grade elderly individuals by this standard.
In most body size estimates, MOR008 is roughly the same size as sue, although it is uncertain how large MOR008 is and who is larger compared to SUE. But it's reasonable to assume that it's not that different in size from sue. So, that also makes it significantly larger than CH1

The above are all Tyrannosaurus Rex specimens that can be determined to be asymptotic individuals. In fact, there are other Tyrannosaurus Rex specimens whose age may have reached the asymptotic line, and EFS appear in long bone sections. Trix, for example, has been reported to be possibly older than Sue and, by various estimates, larger than CH1. But since there is no definitive evidence, this is not included in the list for the time being.
So far, 5 of these 7 specimens are larger than CH1, and 4 of these 5 are significantly larger than CH1. One is about the same size as CH1, not too far apart, and one is definitely smaller than CH1. From this result, the size of CH1 does not stand out in the A2 and X class Tyrannosaurus Rex specimens after limiting the objects of comparison. So, when compared to all adult tyrannosaurs, does CH1 stand out?
Before making the comparison, it should be noted that although Campione's formula has been shown to be highly accurate in estimating body weight, it is based on only one variable, the circumference of the femur, and there are bound to be errors. When the object of weight estimation has a relatively high degree of integrity, it is more accurate to estimate the weight after scanning the skeleton to get the volume. Stan is a good example, if you look at the volume of the skeleton, it is obviously larger than CH1, but if you use the formula to calculate the weight, it will be smaller than CH1. In most cases, the formula of Campione generally has a relatively high accuracy.

I know some people will say that the circumference of the femur is not equal to the size, there may be errors or something. Then we classified the specimens whose femur circumference was greater than 520mm but less than 540mm as similar in size to CH1, with no significant difference. Specimens with a femur circumference greater than 540mm are considered to be larger than CH1, and specimens with a femur circumference greater than 580mm are considered to be significantly larger than CH1. Specimens with a femur circumference less than 520mm are considered to be less than CH1

BTW,A detailed analysis of BHI6248 E.D.Cope, a giant specimen, can be found in my previous post. It is probably the largest Tyrannosaurus Rex specimen we have found so far, and the largest theropod dinosaur.
What makes me feel strange is that no one here has ever discussed this super giant specimen of Tyrannosaurus Rex BHI6248 nickname E.D.Cope : Dinosaurs (reddit.com)
From the analysis of the full text, Among the 25 adult Tyrannosaurus Rex specimens with femur circumference data, the femur circumference of 11 specimens was smaller than CH1, and we believe that the body size of these 11 individuals was smaller than CH1, and the body size of 6 of the remaining 14 individuals was roughly equal to CH1, three of them could be basically determined to be larger than CH1, and 5 of them could be basically determined to be significantly larger than CH1.
Notice that this classification is already in favor of CH1. Because there are actually many specimens with a femur circumference of less than 520mm that are very close to the femur circumference of 520mm, they may be similar in size to CH1, but here they are classified as being less than CH1 in size. Similarly, among individuals with femur circumference between 520mm and 540mm, the body size of some specimens may be larger than that of CH1. Especially in view of the comparison diagram of the actual skeleton of STAN and CH1 above, it is obvious that the volume of the torso and pelvis of T-Rex is significantly larger than that of giga. But they're all classified here as being about the size of CH1
Even on this somewhat unfair scale,it can be seen that the size of CH1 is about the median level among all adult Tyrannosaurus Rex individuals. If it is placed in an asymptotic individual like CH1, CH1 is relatively small. So the popular claim that CH1 was bigger than most Tyrannosaurs doesn't hold up in the face of the data.
Finally, it should be noted that being an elderly individual does not necessarily mean that CH1 is a large individual in giga, it is still possible that it is a lower than average size giga, and the main point of this post is to show that it is inaccurate to say that CH1 is larger than most Tyrannosaurus Rex specimens given the available evidence.
And, to be clear, all weight estimates of extinct creatures are just that - estimates, no matter how accurate, not facts. The only way to be 100% accurate is to weigh living animals, which is obviously impossible for extinct animals. There's no point in obsessing over whose estimate gave you a few hundred extra kilos. Because the weight of large animals is inherently fluctuating, it can be affected by various factors such as the health of the animal itself, whether it is full or not. But we can still get an idea of the approximate weight range of these animals, and who will be significantly larger. This is also why the post does not rank the specimens in terms of body size, but rather just a rough comparison of size.

For example, if you'd like a dream recorded, you can book one of their luxurious suites for the night, where the dream techs will fit you with a special helmet, offer you a sleep-friendly snack, and leave you to rest. The next morning, they'll replay the recorded dream for you via the helmet and ask if you want to shell out the extra bucks to save it. If you don't, they'll delete it and you can pay to book for another time to try again. If you do decide to save it, you must select an item within the dream that will act as the exit key. My usual dream tech smiled back as she fastened my helmet, and the last thing I heard was her wishing me pleasant dreams before I was plunged into darkness. I waited for the split-second adjustment from reality to the dream world, and my confusion grew when I didn't find myself on my throne surrounded by fawning gods and goddesses. Instead, I found myself in the middle of an endless street. Alone. There were no cars, no life, not even wind. Towering street lamps lined the sidewalk as far as I could see, arcing over the road and tinting everything an eerie red. Behind them, identical buildings stood side by side, silent, their dark, narrow windows hollow. My pulse spiking, I whipped around. The other direction was just as endless. Uneasy confusion prickled beneath my skin. This had to be someone else's dream. The techs must have made a mistake. I didn't know how it was possible, but there was no other explanation. Sighing, I lay down on my back and stared at the red light above me, wondering if I could fall asleep in a dream. Panicking, silent wheezes rattled in my chest as I struggled to yank myself out of the vacuum, jerking my limbs and bucking my body until I toppled over backwards on the sidewalk. Gulping in fitful breaths, I scrambled to my feet and ran down the road without looking back, my wide eyes scanning the horizon for salvation. I just wanted out of here, but the hellish path stretched on forever, making me feel like I was running in place as every identical building and street lamp mocked me. Even my silent stomping and mute panting served to draw insanity closer. And then, a person showed up. There, in the distance. With my hope spurred, I raced towards them, desperate. I didn't care who they were. I needed to break this monotony. As I got closer, hope morphed to confusion, and then to despair. The person was me. It was a mirror, propped up across the entire street. Sweat-soaked, I slowed down to a jog before I stopped right in front of my reflection. It was me alright, naked, exhausted, and frustrated. But the eyes, something was off about the eyes. With an anxious frown, I stepped closer, staring into them, and they stared back … … until they glanced behind me. I gasped and jumped away, and so did my reflection … before it glanced over my shoulder again. A chill trickled down my spine. My reflection had nothing behind it but the empty street, so I gulped and turned around, and my mouth fell open in a silent scream as a lovecraftian behemoth barrelled its way towards me. With its slick shell gleaming red beneath the lights, it slammed down one spiny tentacle after the other as its five mouths bared their dripping, concentric fangs. Drenched in undiluted horror, tremors gripped my body as I stumbled away until my back was against the mirror. I knew death was a foolproof key in a dream, but I didn't know if this creature would kill me right away or leave me to suffer in agony until my five hours were up. With it only inches away, I squeezed my eyes shut and pressed myself into the mirror, and my stomach flipped as I fell backwards. I opened my mouth to gasp, but there was nothing for me to draw in. Floating in an airless void, I flailed and thrashed, my wild eyes scanning the darkness for answers as I began to spin around. Although death would free me, one of my greatest fears was suffocating. On one of my weightless rotations, a red, glass cube passed me by, and I grabbed it, hoping it was a breathing device. I brought it close to my face, and I gawked at what it held within. Me. Surrounded by identical buildings and red street lamps while a lovecraftian behemoth tore me apart. Horrified, I threw the cube as far as I could and increased my efforts to escape this void. Yet all the flailing and thrashing was for naught as the darkness revealed no end. My eyesight began to go red as my lungs spasmed, and I clawed at my throat as my pulse stuttered in my chest. The red kept growing and growing until it engulfed my entire vision, and I gave up. There was nothing to do but face my fears and die. With my straining heart lumbering, I let myself go limp as I stared at the red and waited. And waited. And waited. I wasn't dying. In fact, I could breathe just fine. Frowning, I opened my eyes, and intense unease spread through my core. Above me, a red moon had taken up the entire sky, each one of its craters crystal clear, like eyes watching me. I turned my head away, and I realized I was in a park, laying down on the grass. Sitting up, I blinked in surprise at the pond right beside me, its opaque water reflecting the moon's red light. Ducks were swimming in a circle across its surface, their movements smooth with nary a splash. Trees surrounded us, so dense I couldn't tell when one began and the other ended. It was mind-numbingly quiet here as well, and I still couldn't feel anything or make any noise, but at least the ducks were moving. This place seemed more tolerable than the last, and I was willing to wait out my five hours here. I hoped at least an hour had passed already, but with dreams, one never knew. All I knew was that I was too exhausted to search for the key. And too scared. I didn't know whose dream this was, but they had to be masochistic if they saved this nightmare. Curling up beside the pond, I worked on calming myself down as I watched the ducks swim in their systematic circle over and over and over. I tried counting the rotations the way one would count sheep, but that still didn't lull me to sleep. I wished I'd chosen the three-hour projection, but at least I hadn't chosen the eight-hour one. Distorted circus music crackled around me and I jolted up, my heart ricocheting in my chest. There was finally sound, but the last thing I wanted to hear was a cliche horror movie soundtrack. Gulping, I looked around. The music was coming from the trees, and my stomach dropped when I spied a shadow behind one of them. Then another. And another. They emerged into the crimson moonlight, and my blood turned to ice. Clowns. I whipped around, trembling to the rhythm of my frantic pulse. They were surrounding me. Dozens of them. As classic as any clown could be. Colorful clothes, big shoes, silly hair, exaggerated makeup. I wasn't scared of clowns, as long as they were where they belonged. And they didn't belong here, staring at me with big, empty eyes and yellow, toothy grins. I tried to convince myself that they weren't dangerous since they didn't have weapons and didn't seem monstrous, but when they took a step closer in unison, I jumped back, nearly falling into the pond. The ducks remained oblivious, still swimming in their circle. The distorted circus music got louder, and my hair stood on end when I saw the grass ripple in front of each clown. They were sending something my way through the ground. Panicking, I jumped into the pond, and I screamed as I sank right in. There was no bottom. There was no water either. The pond was filled with red, translucent spheres, each the size of a tennis ball. Still able to breathe, I began swimming through the spheres with clumsy breast strokes, just hoping I could end up as far away from the clowns as possible. After swimming for what felt like enough time, I tried to swim up, until I realized I had no idea which direction I was facing. Remember a trick for those stuck in avalanches, I spat, but my glob of saliva just hovered in front of me. Before panic could set in, I noticed what looked like an office desk floating amidst the spheres in the distance. After blinking a few times to make sure it was really there, I swam towards it, desperate for any change in my situation. It *was* an office desk, a wooden one with carved borders and locked drawers. Tucked beneath it was a stool, and the moment I pulled it out and set it under my ass, an office replaced the red spheres. I grunted as gravity returned, and I looked around in bewilderment at the cluttered bookshelves and grimy floors. Dust was floating everywhere, highlighted by the red light filtering in through the blinds behind me. I jumped as a clock hanging on the wall chimed. Its glass was too dirty for me to tell the time, but I was glad I could hear. I coughed at the dust. And I could make noise. I dusted my hands. And I could feel. I could even smell, which I now wished I couldn't as I wrinkled my nose at the faint stench of rot. After failing to read the spines of some of the books on the shelves, I studied the shadowy corners of the room. A slack-jawed skeleton hung in the far end, and a faded poster with anatomical diagrams curled off a cupboard. This had to be a doctor's office. Was the creator of this dream a doctor? A silhouette slid in front of the frosted glass door, and I gulped as the knob began to turn. A hand reached in, gripping the edge one finger at a time, and my heart dropped as I knew this horror cliche was only going to be followed by another. Having no time to think, I slid off the stool and crouched beneath the desk, my hand over my mouth as cobwebs clung to me. Praying spiders wouldn't swarm me, I peeked through a small slit in the wood, and I froze when an emaciated nurse walked in the room. Layers upon layers of blood coated her scrubs, so much so that I couldn't even tell what color they originally were. She had no shoes. No feet either. Just ankle stubs, and my stomach turned as I heard bone clunk against the tiles. A surgical mask covered her face, as bloodstained as her scrubs, and grimy lab goggles obscured her eyes. I was grateful, because judging by the pus leaking out of her scabbed, balding scalp, I didn't want to know what her face looked like. The closer she got, the stronger the stench of rot became, and I struggled to keep myself from retching. She stopped halfway into the room, and I gawked at her hands. They were transforming. Her fingers elongating into razor-edged blades. She then began to hunch over, and I cringed as her spine cracked and popped until she was as bent as a candy cane, her face staring at her pelvis. As if that wasn't unsettling enough, her head creaked as it spun around 180 degrees, now facing the front, upside down. Right after, her arms shot to the ground, and I watched with increasing dread as she bent them at the elbows and wrists so they flanked her head like distorted T-Rex arms. She spread her fingers out and took a few more steps towards me, and I held my breath, hoping she couldn't hear my rabid heart or smell my fear. Her ankle bones clicked and clacked against the tiles as she made her way around the desk, and I cowered as my frantic eyes searched for a weapon. I found none, but I did spy a brass button beside my head. With her legs now an arms distance away, I had nothing to lose as I jammed my thumb into the button. The back of the desk flung open, and I scrambled to my feet and dashed out from my hiding place, screaming in response to the nurse screeching behind me. Bursting through the door, I held up my fists and began punching like a maniac in fearful anticipation of a horde of nurses swarming me. Except I was no longer in a hospital. I was in an outdoor parking lot. Alone. And judging by the roiling red clouds, a storm was brewing. After a second to collect my bearings, I dove into the closest car, thankful it was unlocked. The moment I slammed the door shut, lightning blinded me as thunder cracked and the downpour began. Sighing in relief, I tried to shake away my adrenaline, but the bloodshot eyes in my rearview mirror reignited my panic. Before I could react, a belt snapped over my neck, pinning my head back against the headrest. With a frightened wheeze, I clawed at the leather, and I flinched as hot, heavy breath wafted across my ear. Gagging at the putrid smell, I reached over, desperate to scratch my strangler's face or poke their eyes out. I felt their greasy hair and tried to pull it, but my fingers refused to hold on. I tried again and again, using my nails for purchase, but the strands just kept slipping out of my weak grip. Shifting focus, I tried to claw at their eyes, but it felt as though I was moving through molasses as my hand slid down their face. Once I felt a wet, bulbous eye, I tried to scratch it, but I didn't have enough strength to do anything damage. My frustration clashed with my terror and I tried to punch them, but my arm swung back in slow motion and merely prodded a stubbly cheek. Tears welled in my eyes as I writhed and gasped, my strangler's laugh adding insult to injury. Despite knowing death will set me free, fear and self-preservation rummaged through my mind, searching for a solution. And they found one. Hoping I had enough grip and energy, I reached down and found the reclining lever. Wrapping my fingers around it tight, I jerked it up and heaved my body back, and I gulped in a deep breath as I fell backwards, the belt now slack. Not at all prepared to face my attacker, I slipped out from beneath the belt, flung open the door, and zoomed out into the storm. Sheets of rain obscured my vision, but not enough for me to see that the keys were left inside a red convertible. After making sure no one was hiding in the back, I jumped in, started the engine, and took off, the wheels squealing through the puddles. A sole street curled down a hill, and I took it, adrenaline pumping in waves through my quivering body. This rush was a confusing mixture of exhilaration and apprehension. I wanted out, but I wasn't giving up. I made it this far, and I was going to survive every cliche this masochist dreamed up. Sharks? Snakes? Zombies? Bring it on. And afterwards, I was going to detail every single trial and tribulation I went through as I sued the dream bank for all the trauma they caused me. Up ahead, the road curved, and I gasped as it ended in a cliff. I slammed the breaks, but they didn't do anything. Breaking out in a cold sweat, I slammed them again and again as I yanked the hand break as far as it would go. The car refused to slow down, and I cursed myself for not anticipating this cliche. In a move of desperation, I swerved, but it wasn't enough as the car careened over the edge and took me with it. My heart hung in my throat as I hung on to the steering wheel, my knuckles white, my screams frozen in my lungs, the raindrops like needles. An endless body of water spread below me, and I knew sharks were my next challenge. I screwed my eyes shut as I awaited the inevitable plunge … … and I gasped as the car crashed against the surface. I lurched forward, and I cried out as I bashed my forehead against the wheel. Groaning, I leaned back, my ears ringing as I looked around, disoriented. I was still in the convertible, but we were right side up, having crashed into the concrete wall of an indoor garage. Blood trickled down my face and I reached up, only to feel around my head in shock. I was wearing the helmet. Why was it in the dream? Or had I made it out? I looked down. I wasn't naked. My pyjamas were plastered to my sweat-soaked skin. I *was* out. I looked around at the broken glass and mangled metal in confusion. But if I was finally out, why was I in a car and not between silk sheets? I removed the helmet, and a yell from behind made me jump. I turned to see one of the dream techs running towards me. Was she always that skinny? And why were her scrubs red instead of the usual blue? She made it to me, panting as she took the helmet out of my hands, and I wrinkled my nose at her unpleasant breath. She said I'd had a nightmare and began sleepwalking, and I'd left the dream bank and stole a car from their underground parking before she triggered a wake-up signal in the helmet which made me crash. I stared at her, not believing what I was hearing. I told her I'd booked a projection, not a recording, and she gave me a concerned frown and claimed the opposite. Anger replaced my confusion, and I called her a liar and accused them of misconduct as I tried to get out of the car. She was quick to tell me not to move in case I made my injuries worse as she pulled out her phone and said she was going to call an ambulance. While I sat there and waited, fuming, I glimpsed my reflection in the dangling rearview mirror. Unease rippled beneath my skin and I sat up, grabbing the mirror and angling it to show my neck. There was an angry red mark across it. As though I was recently strangled. Trembling, I tilted the mirror up. Cobwebs. Stuck in my hair. Dumbstruck in utter stupefaction, I scanned the rest of my body. My pyjamas were dirty and there was black under my fingernails, but the rest of my examination was cut short by tinny circus music. A chill jolted down my spine and I whipped my head to face the dream tech. That was her ringtone. She smiled as she answered the call, and I drew back at her yellow, toothy grin. What was going on? I was out of the dream, I knew I was. Had everything been real? What had the dream bank done with me? Done *to* me? Ambulance sirens wailed as they entered the underground parking, and the flashing red lights reflecting off the walls triggered my recent traumas. With terror-fueled adrenaline flooding my veins, I jerked my legs free of the wreck, jumped out of the car, and booked it, the dream tech's yells merging with the screeching sirens behind me.

2023.08.12 22:54 RuinedDruid Should I tuck if my hip freely dislocates?

I had a hip injury back in high school that has my hip dislocating and rotating at the smallest movement. Most of the time it is a slow process of it slipping throughout the day to where I don't usually notice the pain until the end of the day. Sometimes though if I lunge it will fully rotate forward. When I look at diagrams of the body it looks like it is connected "on top" of the pelvis. If my hip rotates forward and the testies are in there will it be....bad? Also sorry if I'm misunderstanding where the canals medical diagrams break my brain and I can hardly tell where things are in relation to other body parts.

The average 2nd - 3rd gen ACs have a 1:2 ratio when it comes to head + torso to hip + legs and since the ACs in 6th gen follows the third gen or second gen AC ratios, here goes.
We get to see the top half, which is usually whats more than enough to use to measure the statue even without proper human for scaling.
The top half you see in the image, on scale to the 1.1m barricade, is 3x of such measurements, hence it would be at least 3.3m. Now if you factor in the ratio of an AC, it's 1:2 or 1:3, and by that, including the legs, the statue is at least 9.9m tall, which makes it 10m tall for a 1(head-torso):2(pelvis-feet) ratio ; whereas it's at least 11 - 12m.
This diagram may not be accurate since i cant get a perfect perspective diagram of the photo, but it is what it is.

The Italian system revealed
The results of the Italian national team are causing a sensation within the weightlifting scene. In my opinion there are some peculiarities but... no big secrets, as someone may think.
Here are some interesting points. For someone they could be obvious, but I report them anyway:

  1. The Boss
Sebastiano Corbu, the head coach, is the real engine of the Italian team: he lives with the athletes, he knows them very well, in some cases is like a father (specially for the younger ones). But he is very demanding, he controls every training aspect, from the programming to the diet to the rehab of the athletes. There are some great coaches near him (Gonario Corbu, his brother, primarily involved in youth training, Pietro Roca, the strategist, Matteo Orecchini etc etc) but he is the mastermind.

  1. The ambient
All the elite athletes (except Ficco, as far as I know) live and train at the CPO ("Centro di Preparazione Olimpica", Olympic training centre, in Rome). They wake up train, eat, train, eat, sleep. Stop. A very focused life, where all the things outside training are carefully controlled.
This is a very stimulating ambient, where all athlete are friends (less or more), some are even engaged, and they push hard each other, every day.

  1. The technique
A thing to remember: there is no "pull" for the italian school, this is an equivocal term: you don't have to pull anything, you have to push against the ground. So you'll never find a "snatch pull" in athletes' programs but a "snatch dead-lift". This is an important concept for the development of a precise technical element.
The most important detail of the italian technique is the "cambio" which can be literally translated as "change" and corresponds roughly to the transition phase of the traditional nomenclature.
The idea is: you have to reach a body and bar position that allows you to push against the floor to the best of your ability, like in the squat. So, after the first phase (the "stacco", the dead-lift) which ends just above the knee, there is the cambio, where the knee angle become smaller (and the knees move forward in some cases, depending on the structure of the athlete) and the hip angle become bigger. There is a cambio, a change in the angle motion. This cambio lasts until the shoulders, which were over the bar, are placed right over the barbell (half of the thigh for the snatch, few cm above the knee in the clean). So it's slightly different from the classical transition phase, which ends when the knee angle reaches its minimum.
The \"cambio\" in a diagram from FIPE. I don't know why in the last image the barbell seems to be far from the thight. One principle is to let it slide on the thigh.
From this position starts the next phase, the "scambio" (literally "exchange") which has a subphase, the "spinta" or push, where the knee and hip angles open maximally together, at the same time, to maximize vertical forces and minimize orizontal forces. So, in summary:
- Stacco: from the ground to just above knee level. The center of pression on the feet is right at the centre or slightly moved forward, towards the ball of the feet. You have to push with quads and open the ankle e knee angles, but the hip angle remains the same.
- Cambio: from the ground to the point where the shoulders come back above the barbell. The knee angle becomes smaller and the hip angle bigger. You still have to push against the ground.
- Scambio, which have two subphases: spinta, where you have to open the knee and hip angles together untill the extension, and scambio, where you go down as fast as you can.
These are the fixed points. There are more obscure points, which are sometimes explained and sometimes not. For example, the shoulder retraction during the cambio (as Celine Delia demonstrates here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUlA8SiAZHB/?img_index=1): some coaches of the Italian team want it, for others is a too small detail to control.
Nothing to report for the jerk, except one thing, in the receiving position: you should activate the glutes and search for a slight retroversion of the pelvis. This is something some coaches tell and some don't, it's not a staple element.

  1. Programming
Italian team programming is dark matter. There are no books, no documents, no guidelines. At the Olympic coach course by FIPE programming is not a subject of study. From what I know, talking with athletes and national coaches, shortly they train hard.
Younger athletes train 2-4 times a day, while older athletes train 1 or 2 times a day, also on sunday (not every week).
There are no deload weeks, only deload days or sessions, if an athlete is really tired.
According to a coach, there is no periodization. The concept of periodize is old and doesn't reflect the variation in the physical status of the athletes. So, every session they watch the athletes and decide how heavy they will go. Tipically maximal or submaximal weights are done 2-3 times a week for the snatch, less frequently for the clean and jerk.
On the day with two sessions (Mon-Wed-Fri), in the morning they do squat and sometimes dead-lift, and a light snatch variation. In the afternoon the menĂš is heavy snatch or clean and jerk and squat or dead-lift.The day (Tue-Thu-Sat) with one session there are squat, dead-lift, some light variations and body-building.

  1. Anti-doping
Italian Weightlifting Federation (FIPE) which has Antonio Urso as president, make anti-doping one of its most important wars. There has been no news of positivity among elite athletes for a long time and the few positives that NADO has found are among low level athletes, who are not under the direct control of the Federation. As far as I can remember, there has recently been only one case of a strong boy who had used, without his knowledge, a forbidden cream which is easily sold in Italy without a medical prescription.
Real natural? Of course I don't know for sure, but the Italian team has regular (almost) weekly controls. They are controlled even during national competitions.
