MEGA SIZED Rodem review (with many pics!)
Rodem Slime Shop
7.5oz for $12.99-19.50 Labels are now waterproof! Yaaay! šŸ’ŖšŸ»
I was so excited to get into this giant package from one of my favourite stores, and one I really love to support as they deserve it! This was actually a couple of orders I placed over time and Rodem contacted me to ask me if I wanted to combine them which demonstrates their incredibly attentive customer service. Usually the customer needs to contact the store for this to happen.
Included inside was powdered borax, a free gift slime for each order plus one more because it was a large order and they are generous. This exchange with Rodem got us chatting and then something very special transpired but I will post separately about that as I have to cram a lot of slime into this review and have limited space for images!
I had to brew a cup of tea, sit down and take my time going through all of these to make sure I combined all the correct things! It helps a lot that they are all pictured on the enclosed invoice but it would be helpful if they were packaged together. That having been said, separating the heavy pots of slime from the clays is a good idea when the order is this big and heavy so I can't complain!

  • LEMON TART (DIY butter snowfizz, lemon cookie scented)
This smelled OH SO good. The lemon and the cookie notes comes through and were just delicious and very realistic smelling! Sometimes lemon scent is reminiscent of citrus scented cleaning products to my nose but not this, this was an excellent effort. but My clay lemon was a little squished but clay often can be due to being delicate and tricky to package and the issue is not uncommon with any company.
The clay was soooo very soft, moist and pleasant to squish into the base. After you take the base out the pot you are met with a little bit of ā€œcaramelā€ sauce on the bottom of the pie. Itā€™s all very mouth watering. This was the perfect, massively inflatable snow fizz and I was so in love with it. It was super crunchy and had the expected abundance of ASMR fizzles. It was beautifully activated and in every way a perfect slime. Some may find snow fizz a bit pokey but this wasnā€™t bad at all, the inflation was very cushioning!

  • TEA TIME (DIY clay, strawberry, blackcurrant, blackberry blended fruity scent)
The scent is fresh, fruity and yummy and the charms SO charming and well thought out! This clay was slightly stiffer and a tad dried out but the base extremely moist, silky and jiggly with tons of resistance on the pulls and I didn't end up with any lumps. It becomes extremely light, puffy, chubby and flubbery with massive pops and medium to soft clicks on the pokes which get louder as it inflates. I love Rodemā€™s take on this texture, it has all the awesome elements of the fluffy slimes I got from Seoul Gage but was more robust with no destabilisation issues (I found the SG ones a little dehydrated and sticky the next time I played.)

  • BUMPER CAR (silica sand x salt, rose scented, also a choice of peach scent if you prefer)
I love rose scent and this was PERFECT! It isnā€™t a perfume type scent, just pure, sweet rose water like rose Turkish delight or, indeed, actual rosewater. I was utterly obsessed! This was a stunning slime with a beautiful iridescent pink topper and the most gorgeous little pink bumper car charm. It sounded absolutely incredible to crunch and combine. The little pops, sizzles and crackles were out of this world. This was so heavy in silica crystals and yet not pokey as the pieces were quite smooth and small but of course your mileage may vary. I canā€™t express just how much I adored this slime, one of my all time favourites!

  • YUMMY POPCORN (styrofoam slay, caramel popcorn scented)
The fact this comes with a little paper popcorn bag containing the Styrofoam "popcorn" is the cutest touch ever! I adore Rodem, they think of everything to make the experience so incredibly fun. This smells just like freshly popped caramel popcorn with a tiny hint of sweet corn, I loved it! The two hyperrealistic popcorn charms that comes with it are hilarious!
The base was soft, jiggly, super clicky and fluffy and the Styrofoam really satisfying to crush into it. I just couldnā€™t get over how spectacular the scent was, it was making me hungry! This slime was a slightly looser slay texture and needed a little bit of activator to aid in handleability but not much. It had a few nice medium pops in it but very little hold, which unfortunately isnā€™t to my taste but many people love that. I was tied over this slime as the scent was just divine but I prefer more holdable textures. That is a reflection on my personal tastes however, not the slime which was great! If you like jiggly slays youā€™ll fall in love with this. I may not be a slay person but there is no way this wasn't going be a keeper, it had just too good a scent and crushing the styrofoam is great fun!
https://preview.redd.it/x9yw1riaci0d1.jpg?width=9009&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f3ceaaf5020ef0116257b956ce3da686e84b61c

  • CAROUSEL (DIY clay, citrus fruit and aloe blend scented)
The scent wasn't bad but just wasn't a hit for me, a personal taste thing again. The clay was a little bit smooshed and it was tricky to tell what it was but extremely, soft squishy and moist. (Incidentally it was, you guessed it, a carousel šŸŽ )
The base was quite loose and jiggly and called for a little bit of activator but very soft, chubby, quite matte and pleasant in the hands. This combined into a huge, soft, marshmallowy mound of slime with a lovely plush surface. Super stretchy and fun to fold for soft bubble pops and lovely soft sizzles. It was a little on the loose side for my personal tastes but slay lover will again adore this! It was a well made slime.

  • EMMENTAL CHEESE CAKE (DIY clay/butter, savoury cheese cookie scented)
This was a very interesting, fun and unusual scent. A little sweet but notably savoury with a subtle hint of cheese. The first time I played with it I enjoyed the novelty but the second time I wasnā€™t sure if I loved it enough to buy again. Itā€™s hard to describe but definitely worth trying.
The HUUUUUGE cheese clay came in a sealed package and was so soft and pleasant to squish. It became a ginormous, matte, sort of butter texture, which was both fairly holdable and yet exceedingly soft. It stuck to my play area a bit. It was quite a job to handle it on account of its size and a difficult texture to describe. It didnā€™t feel sticky at all on my play surface but stuck to my hands when I tried to pick it up and stretch it. When I pressed my hand into it on the surface it didnā€™t stick or feel sticky but if I picked it up to try and stretch it, it was very gooey and hard to shape. Activator didnā€™t seem to make that much of a difference. This was a texture unlike any other Iā€™ve experienced. Itā€™s one Iā€™m a little lukewarm on but still enjoyed playing with for an unusual experience and worth it for the mega-sized clay cheese alone!
https://preview.redd.it/0kgtacjfdi0d1.jpg?width=5846&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=075fb7676513e410ab1c2962e84c2cbec9cd13b7

  • MIXED COFFEE (super gloss thick T&G, mixed coffee and coffee ice cream blend scented)
This was a delicious, very creamy coffee ice cream/frappe coffee creme scent, very rich with subtle notes of chocolate. It was a medium thickness, super clicky, moist glossy texture with decent resistance on the stretch. Very good and elastic with tons of bubble pops and wet crackles. This was an extremely pleasant and easy to play with moist and jiggly glossy slime. The longer you play the looser it gets but not problematically so.
https://preview.redd.it/hhob7e8ndi0d1.jpg?width=4823&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eac50e47e3ae4040528d30a10444dede22dea5aa

  • FUJI APPLE ICE CREAM (DIY cloud creme, apple scented)
A lovely, fresh, crisp apple scent. The clay apple is so cute with its velvety exterior and so perfectly made. It was amazing fun to squish. This combined to a super stretchy and ultra fuzzy cloud creme. It was extremely light and super sizzly. This was another texture which is familiar and yet very unusual on account of the extreme fuzziness. I loved it and found it pretty amazing to look at!
https://preview.redd.it/o5fah6ugei0d1.jpg?width=4905&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3941974b12b9e28570cad567ace8fb1fa46f2d9

  • FLAT PEACH CAKE (DIY clay and coated jelly/fluffy snow, peach scented)
The base has an absolutely beautiful fresh peach scent. Another stunningly well made clay which looks so much like a peach with the way they have created the fuzzy surface and peachy-perfect colour shift. It was soft and great fun to combine into the jelly base. The resulting slime was nice and clicky with big, soft bubble pops. It really felt plush and soft-surfaced on my fingers as I stretched it and was very moist, chubby, jiggly and flubby when I set it down. This was ultra inflatable with nice soft sizzles.
https://preview.redd.it/u2372z0wei0d1.jpg?width=5691&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f60afeb65d0269a8d83619526e9b97a4c264cb49

  • YAKULT GELATO (DIY snow creme, Yakult scented
A pleasant, mild, fruity yogurty scent. The little scoops of ice cream were so soft, moist and great to squish. This started off with lots of resistance and a nice plush feel as I pulled it. It had moist clicks and soft bubble pops. While it gave a little bit as it warmed up, it did retain a bouncy and elastic stretch with a nice little bit of resistance. This is another fun, boingy, flubby, jiggly texture, which is super inflatable and great fun to play with.
https://preview.redd.it/uaecn0p0fi0d1.jpg?width=8457&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0009976a0dc188ea74922188d351bcc7aeef8dd1

  • MY COSY SPACE (cloud slime, sweet juicy peach/added perfume)
Itā€™s so ironic that cloud slime is my favorite and yet I have so very few of them retained in my collection as I just canā€™t find ones I love that drizzle perfectly! I was very, very excited for a cloud from Rodem but also anxious as clouds are so rarely perfectly in line with the exact level of drizzle Iā€™m looking for! I absolutely ADORE the aesthetic with the soft little rug that comes with it in the shape of Rodemā€™s bunny logo and the couch charm, how stinking CUTE! The slime even matches! I think this is the best charm/slime combo I have ever seen, a big standing ovation for Rodem on this incredibly whimsical and charmingly presented slime!
The scent was a relaxing and homely peachy perfume with notes of bubble bath and baby powder. The drizzle was good!! True cloud is a hard slime to make to spec and, in light of that, a lot of companies donā€™t really bother with it. Iā€™m so happy Rodem did and did such a great job. It was very soft and plush with gorgeous blankety folds and I have everything crossed they make more of this texture soon. I have no idea what Iā€™ll do with the delightful little rug other than treasure it forever! Haha!
Even just looking at these photos as I type out the review I'm smiling again! I wish this slime was my dressing gown! haha!

  • ONIGIRI (white glue foam chip, savoury black sesame.)
Another incredibly interesting and unique savoury scent. This was definitely giving sesame seed/oil, albeit a bit more subtle than the real thing. I would say your mileage may very on this scent, it wonā€™t be for everyone but it is certainly worth trying for a whole new experience.
This was a medium thickness, glossy texture which was very chewy and clicky. The foam pieces were quite hard and angular but crushable if you really go for it. This was a very novel floam texture which made a great change from the usual balls. This was exploding with fantastic crackles and pops, top tier sounds. I think the angular foam is even better for trapping air as this slime sounded like a tiny elephant stampeding in a bubble wrap factory! I got some big air pocket type bubbles from this one too!
https://preview.redd.it/t6eh86yigi0d1.jpg?width=5986&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5954f9b63ef8b82f6b18c833abed2b45aa816ce0

  • FRENCH APPLE PIE (white glue/snow/fluffy, French apple pie scented)
The apple and the crust both come through in the scent, as well as a little hint of caramel (which is very typical of a French tarte tatin, well done Rodem!) The little doilies in the bottoms of the clay pots (even though the clay is wrapped) are yet another gorgeous little touch that impress me about these guys, I love their intimate attention to detail.
The clay was again super soft and pleasant to squish into the nice, clicky base. This was a lovely, chubby, stretchy slime. It was a little on the thicker side and created satisfying farty bubble pops.
C'est bon!

  • SAKURA SAND (sand slime, sakura flower scented)
This is an absolutely beautiful scent. A slightly cotton candy leaning sweet Sakura. I love pink, I love sand slimes and I love Sakura scents so this really pleased me! Unfortunately I found it very sticky and loose so added a lot of activator until it was more resistant and was able to get it where it needed to be. Once I did it had great bubble pops and was a very sand-dense and crunchy/sizzly sounding slime, the exact sort of sand slime I like.
https://preview.redd.it/z24t4ms5hi0d1.jpg?width=5704&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38d0ba14bbeeec427f15096407d5c23c0c9f0f67

  • STRAWBERRY MATCHA SUGAR CAKE (snow fizz, strawberry matcha scented)
A nice scent with both strawberry and Matcha coming through. This was an extremely fluffy, airy snowfizz with tons of fantastic ASMR sounds, so fizzy, sizzly and fun to inflate and tingle-inducing to deflate. It started off feeling like a light, sugary super airy scrub and got denser as I played. Another great slime.
https://preview.redd.it/2yfdnspdhi0d1.jpg?width=5788&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2498da365a7c185a377dd2a8b7bbf12c9b80e52e

  • TANGHULU BALL (big foam ball, strawberry-ade)
This had a very subtle strawberryade scent. The giant floam balls were a total novelty to me and SO much fun! Who doesnā€™t love the feeling of big balls in their hands!? šŸ™Š The base was quite loose and wonderful for plentiful crackles and pops. I really enjoyed this!
https://preview.redd.it/37msqhrnhi0d1.jpg?width=8440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65fa12490f41bec1c7c30cea77764e8082b63382

  • STEAMED BUN (chewy mochi texture, sweet red bean BingSu)
This was an extremely savoury scent, there is some sweetness there but it was very much umami focused and I really enjoyed it! I was getting notes of red bean with a saltiness.
This is a moist, super clicky, jiggly slime with two large sponges in it that crush like jelly cubes. This is extremely bubbly and full of juicy wet crackles and high pitched big pops. You can create absolutely gargantuan air bubbles with this texture. If you, like me, donā€™t typically enjoy loose jiggly slimes, there is a damn good chance that you will enjoy this as I loved it! It was just so multifaceted with what it offered. First, you have the unusual scent which is pretty intriguing and different. Then you have the two giant cubes to crush which is always nice. Then you have the joy of the crackles, pops and loud clicks. Finally, you have the enormous bubbles! You just canā€™t not have fun with this!
That bubble (slubble?) was bigger than me!!

  • PLOP DUCKLING (Snow creme, lemon meringue scented)
This has a gorgeous and accurate sweet and creamy lemon meringue scent. Itā€™s so much fun watching the little duckā€™s butt slowly dive into the slime when you pop him on there.
This was exactly the texture and scent I fancied finishing on and quite by chance it was! I couldnā€™t find Rodemā€™s description for this oneā€™s texture until later so I had no idea what to expect as I had forgotten, what a joy!!! This combined into a really lovely, soft sage green. This is another light, soft, squishy, chewy and chubby inflating texture that ends up airy and puffy. I absolutely loved it! Unfortunately that is one more image than I am able to embed on Reddit so please click here to see it!
With Rodem, nothing is fully predictable and every texture brings with it a nice surprise. This is especially pleasing to experience when you place big orders. There is nothing more disappointing to me than buying a lot of slimes from a company just to discovered there is hardly any nuance between them and the experience is basically a rinse and repeat one, texturally identical and/or predictable. Rodem break the mold and throw in some very unusual elements and scents. Their themes are so well thought out and utterly charming and beautifully presented. They produce so many textures and master them, each one designed with so much love and attentiveness.
I really adore this company and feel they work hard to bring joy and excellence to the slime community. Recently one of the more commercial slime companies was caught using Rodemā€™s brand as a key word on their google ads to steer business away from them and onto their own website which I thought was in very poor taste. It is however testament to the fact that they knew Rodem was a company slime enthusiasts were talking about. And so we should be! It is my pleasure and honour to continue supporting this wonderful company. I'm so excited to see what they come up with next!
I loved pretty much every slime and the ones I didnā€™t were more so a personal taste thing than a quality control issue. There were a couple I found less handleable or with activation issues (Emmental and Sakura Sand) but that is pretty damn good going for an order this huge and the sand one was easily fixable. A well deserved 9.9/10

Furniture isnā€™t my forte. Anyone want to take a stab at it?
Picked up at a local thrift for $12 in Virginia, so no provided history or info. The claw/ball feet always draw me in. Had to re-shim one of the wobbly feet and there was some very crumbly paper wedged in there. Looked like a newsprint ad for rugs with sizes (72x99 for $10 was the only bits I could piece together).
Can I use a carnauba wax wood polish on this or will it make a mess out of it?
Last pic is of the center of the table top - veneer splitting? Glue and clamp it or will I make a mess out of that too
Thanks yall professional old stuff connoisseurs!

2024.05.09 05:31 misguidedsadist1 How to handle an autistic first grader lashing out physically

Hi there,
gen ed first grade here.
I have a boy on the spectrum who is in my class about 80% of the day (he gets pulled a few days a week for reading and push-in math support a couple days here and there).
First of all please let me say I ADORE this child and we have a good relationship. He will remain one of my "favorites" for years to come.
But one thing I'm REALLY struggling with is figuring out how to deal with his tendency to lash out when he is upset, overstimulated, out of sorts, etc.
Just for the sake of being up front, here's what the IEP says and what I provide to PREVENT the lashing out in the first place:
Unfortunately, he is sneaky and he knows how to act out when I am not looking and isn't great at self awareness or taking a break himself before he gets overwhelmed (or maybe this behavior isn't just because of being overwhelmed? Maybe it's also just impulse control???)
Behaviors:
Today he tried to cut the clothing and hair of a girl in the class. I was shocked. While he's tried to snip others' work, hes NEVER tried to do that to someone's PERSON. I didn't even know what to do. I took the scissors away and took some time of recess, but that doesn't seem to be enough.
Someone got in the way of his backpack at some point today, so he GRABBED the arm of the girl nearest him and WOULD NOT LET GO for a few moments. The girl had nothing to do with anything!
He really does seem to do these things randomly. He will kick kids that were doing NOTHING wrong to him, didn't say anything, not looking at him....it just seems to be proximity and opportunity.
He looks ashamed when he gets reprimanded or punished for these things, often refusing to look at me or talk to me about what the problem is, why this happened, etc etc. Like even tearful and red in the face all over. Truly sad and ashamed.
I do. Not. Get. It.
I have asked his case manager for some help with social stories, or maybe during small groups time can she try to sus out what might be happening so I can use some of the same strategies, etc? I don't have a background in SPED and I don't know anything about autism in an academic sense, so I don't even know where to begin with this behavior. Like WTF do I even do?
Obviously my first line of defense is knowing the hot spots and focusing on PREVENTION and that has helped a ton! But sometimes I can't predict or prevent everything!

2024.05.08 21:31 Horrorlover656 This is how I feel...

I have been waiting just to get with you
But I am a bit unsure
I have been thinking how to make you move
Drawn by your allure
Now, I am thinking of
taking a step.
Cuz' I am dreaming of
giving you a pep.
When you turn round and round and round and round.
I hear a sound and sound and sound.
And it goes down and down and down and down
Way down to the middle ground.
Have been debating just what I will do.
Maybe a sensual detour
we've been talking about will be our glue
that will ensure.
Now, I am thinking of
taking a step.
Cuz' I am dreaming of
giving you a pep.
When you turn round and round and round and round.
I hear a sound and sound and sound.
And it goes down and down and down and down
Way down to the middle ground.
Now girl, all I need is your hug,
and that will be the last touch to what we called a good night.
Now that we lie down on this rug,
I understand what '99 felt like.
There's something I wanna tell you...
When you turn round and round and round and round.
I hear a sound and sound and sound.
And it goes down and down and down and down
Way down to the middle ground.

2024.05.08 05:58 Illustrious-Fun-6187 I want to cut almost my entire family off

I come from a pretty dysfunctional family. Iā€™ll spare you most of the details But I want to go no contact / low contact with my bio dad (iso no contact. Iā€™ve tried before but I always crawl back hoping things will be better) , my adopted dad (iso low contact..) , (my step dad iso no contact) , my brother (iso no contact) and my mom (iso low contact) . HOWEVER. My adopted dad has cancer and Iā€™m the glue the keeps my mom connected to him. Basically by updating her on his progress and Dr appointments. I donā€™t want to be that anymore. My brother lives with my dad and we live in the same apartment complex. My brother has on multiple occasions threatened me and has severe mental health issues. Thereā€™s messed up history and my momā€™s husband has on multiple occasions called my little sisters sexy when they were 6, then called my niece who was a newborn sexy. My mom told me that then disassociated and just swept it under the rug convincing herself he didnā€™t mean it. My family is my network but I want to build a new network. Idk. Iā€™m just disgusted and I want to be done. Iā€™ve relied on them as support in other ways because I became a mom at a young age. But Iā€™m married and we are trying to figure out living in a new state without the help of family. However we got a scholarship for our daughter and now we are considering moving back to home state. I still want nothing to do with my momā€™s husband and although I love my mom I want as little to do with her as possible. My 7 year old daughter loves her though which complicates things. I donā€™t know what Iā€™m seeking here. Maybe advice? Maybe someone who can relate? These are all heavy topics and I just want to put this shit behind me and move forward with my life.

2024.05.07 23:25 mrbeefthighs I Have No Idea What I'm Doing (Part 3)

Part 1 // Part 2
I paced my bedroom floor wondering what I should do next. Iā€™d already placed the leg back in the gun safe, then searched the entirety of my house looking for something Christian to place on top of it. It seemed to work in the movies and I didnā€™t really have any idea what else to do. I couldnā€™t find my bag of religious paraphernalia, so I ended up fashioning a small crucifix out of two large carrots and hot glue with a little Jesus made out of raisins.
I needed a plan! I was thinking about who might know more information about the artifact Iā€™d come into possession of, then it hit me ā€“ all of my competitors!
Surely not all of them were fakes like me!
One by one, I called them up and set up meetings for that afternoon ā€“ staggered appointments of course.
The first one to show up was a woman named Destiny. I sent her home immediately after she tracked dog shit into my house from the bottom of her shoes. I will not work with someone who is not only rude but completely oblivious.
The second one was a guy named Tiger, which I thought was a badass name and he was a pretty cool guy. Too bad he failed every test I threw at him. I sent him home, but kept his number in case I wanted to try to connect with him sometime to hangout.
The third psychic was a total nutcase named Psycho Jimmy. Iā€™m honestly not even sure if he was a medium or if google search just lumped the words ā€˜Psychicā€™ and ā€˜Psychoā€™ into the same page due to a lack of results.
He didnā€™t say a word to me the entire time. He came into my house, drank a glass of water, walked a lap around the living room, stared directly into my eyes, unblinking, for a solid thirty seconds, then simply left. Total fucking psycho indeed. And yes, I did upgrade my security system shortly after meeting him.
Out of options I reluctantly called Destiny back, even if she did smell like dog poop.
To my surprise, she didnā€™t smell like shit when she showed back up to my house. She explained to me that it wasnā€™t her that smelled but it was, in fact, the ghost of her dead dog, Hercules, that followed her around. She further explained that last winter, her dog passed away peacefully in his sleep. She was distraught, but thought it would be in bad taste to leave a dead dog lying on her living room floor, so she loaded the carcass up into a cardboard box along with his favorite blanket and a few toys. Then she sealed the top of the box with packing tape so animals couldnā€™t get in, and left the box out on her front porch where the cold December weather would keep him fresh for a day until she could gather herself long enough to make arrangements.
Porch pirates showed up not an hour later and stole the box off of her porch thinking they just scored a nice heavy Amazon delivery. I canā€™t imagine how they must have felt to open it up and find a dead dog.
Now Hercules walks the Earth as a ghost, unable to rest until he has his revenge against those that stole his bones away from his loving mother.
ā€œUh, okay, thatā€™sā€¦ā€ I had no idea what to say in response to hearing such an insane story, ā€œWell, can you have Hercules stay outside please?ā€
ā€œYeah, no problem,ā€ She replied before bending at the waist to pet an invisible dog and whisper loving comments into its ears before following me into my kitchen.
ā€œSo how do I know youā€™re legit?ā€ Was the first question I asked her when we were both seated at the table.
ā€œBecause I can see the ghost that is standing in your bedroom door,ā€ She replied calmly.
I spun around in my chair towards my bedroom door just in time to watch it violently slam itself shut.
ā€œYouā€™re hired!ā€
I re-capped the entire situation to Destiny, who asked to see the leg.
She recoiled as soon as I placed it on the table in front of her, ā€œYou didnā€™t tell me itā€™s upholstered in human fleshā€ she said, ā€œPretty big detail to leave outā€
ā€œIt is?ā€ I asked.
She pointed to a pinkish brown blemish on the leather that covered the back thigh of the leg, ā€œThere is literally a nipple on itā€
Closer inspection showed that she was right. The leg did indeed have a nipple on it.
ā€œAnd here is a tattoo,ā€ she said pointing at a heart shaped blemish. If you looked closely, you could just barely make out the words, ā€œMommyā€™s Homeā€. ā€œLook I donā€™t know what this leg is, but I know a professor at my old college who might know,ā€ Destiny said, she couldnā€™t take her eyes off of the nipple. ā€œHe specializes in ancient pagan literature and has several books bound with human skin in his collection. If anyone knows anything about this, it has to be him.ā€
With no other avenues to go down, I agreed a talk with this professor would be a good place to start.
Destiny left my house promising to call me tomorrow to let me know if her old professor had replied to her request to meet. Once again, I was alone with the leg.
Looking at the leg filled me with a strange sort of terror that I hadnā€™t felt since I was kid. The kind of helplessness you would feel as a child when you lost your mom in the mall, or when you were so sure that the shadow in the corner of your bedroom was a monster lying in wait until the moment you cross from wakefulness into sleep.
I brought the leg back to the gun safe and locked it away before leaving my house for the day. I didnā€™t have much in the way of errands, but I didnā€™t even want to be in the same building as the leg.
I wasted the day trying to get my mind off the absolute shit storm of a week Iā€™d had so far. Ghosts, monsters, demons and God knows what else is real. How is someone supposed to just accept that and move forward with their lives? What else might be out there? Is God real? If so, that might be the scariest thing of all.
I went to the movies, but couldnā€™t pay attention. I went to my favorite restaurant, but didnā€™t have an appetite. I tried to go go-karting, but couldnā€™t get over how strange it was to go go-karting by myself. I spent the entire day thinking about how my inbox was full of things Iā€™d thought were fake but now would never fully get over.
Eventually the sun fell and I found myself standing on my front porch trying to come up with any excuse to go and spend money on a hotel room. I almost did, but realized I was too broke to get one even if I wanted to.
A creeping dread wormed its way up my back as I walked through the dark house flipping lights on as went. I checked each room to make sure nothing had moved the positions I had left them in that morning. Looking back, Iā€™m not sure if at that point I was more afraid of a ghost or demon or Psycho Jimmy in my house. Everything seemed to check out.
Feeling slightly better, but still a bit anxious I went to bed.
I woke up in total darkness, in the early morning. I could hear the wind in the trees. I turned over to squint at my alarm clock when the sound of my bedroom door unlatching made my stomach drop. In a flash I shot up in bed and tried to flip on the lamp on my nightstand only to find the light bulb had been removed.
I grabbed my phone, turned on the flashlight and directed the light at the door. The door was, indeed, unlatched and cracked open just a sliver. I sat in total silence, watching the small black crack between the door and the door frame, my ears strained to pick up any noise other than the wind outside.
My jaw dropped as the door slowly creaked forward, opening itself just wide enough for a head to peek into the room, but no one was there, just the empty blackness of the dark hallway beyond. My hands shook as I stared at the doorway, hoping something would come through, anything ā€“ a monster, a zombie, Psycho Jimmy. Anything would be better than the dread of sitting there in anticipation, my imagination conjuring up the worst. My heart was pounding against my ribcage and my mouth went dry. I gripped my phone with two hands to try to steady the shaking, but still they trembled, sending shadows dancing across my bedroom walls.
Then the door closed, just as slowly as it had opened, the door pulled itself back into its frame and latched itself closed.
Realizing I had forgotten to breathe, I sucked in air like a dying fish. I licked my lips and loosened my grip on my phone but my hands were still trembling and I dropped it. The phone bounced off the corner of my nightstand, hit the carpeted floor and bounced again under my bed.
A whole new set of shadows filled the room as the bright, fluorescent white light of the iPhone flashlight emanated from under my dirty bed.
It might sound weird, but this was almost as bad as the door opening by itself. The loss of control was devastating in the moment and I lunged over the side of the bed and blindly flailed my arm around searching for the phone.
My thrashing arm sent a wholly new set of shadows dancing around my room pushing my pulse even higher.
Iā€™d never regretted not cleaning my room harder. I was wildly grabbing things and flinging them out from under the bed as soon as I confirmed they werenā€™t a cell phone. Magazines, old electronics and a few rock-hard socks flew across the room as I shoveled them out from under the bed. I continued to grasp blindly when my hand came across something I didnā€™t immediately recognize. It was a mess of tangled stringy material that seemed to grab at my hand as I brushed past it. I gripped and tugged hard to bring it out onto my bedroom floor, but encountered resistance as whatever it was seemed to cling to its secret refuge under my bed. I reestablished my grip on the object and pulled again, harder this time. I engaged the muscles in my stomach and back and just as it seemed the object would never relent a loud POP! echoed through the room as the object came free in my hand.
Startled and thrown off balance, I fell off my bed and sprawled onto the carpet below with the object still in my hand. I looked down at it and my blood turned to ice as I realized I was holding a womanā€™s head, her face frozen in surprise, her mouth a wide ā€˜Oā€.
I dropped the head and scrambled backwards on my butt until my back hit the opposite wall. It was only then I realized it was the head of a sex doll I had ordered 4 years ago, but never used. (It was too weird. Maybe guys who like sex dolls, would also like fucking dead bodies. Not for me!). Her name was Cynthia. I had hidden her under my bed in shame shortly after bringing her home and had forgotten about her. Itā€™s not like a life-size doll is something you can easily throw away without the neighbors asking questions.
I relaxed at that moment. A wave of relief and amusement washed over me and I made a vow to get rid of Cynthia that weekend. Even if that meant I had to cut her into pieces and dispose of her in separate trash bags thrown into separate dumpsters like some sort of mannequin serial killer.
I started to get back up on my feet when the shadows danced around the room again. I glanced toward the space under the bed and saw the light was moving. Something under my bed had control of my phone.
Blinded by the light which was now pointed directly at me, I squinted my eyes to try to make out what fresh new terror was about to befall me. Slowly a form came into shape. A contorted silhouette that writhed in the confined space. It banged against the bed frame above it as it tried to right itself. The light moved, left, right, up, down as the dark shape twisted violently, but it always pointed the light directly into my eyes without fail.
For a moment, the noises below the bed stopped and the light remained still. The only noises audible were my own breathing and the wind that continued to whip the trees outside. I used my hand to shield my eyes from the now stable point of light and the shape solidified into a new form. It was a person crouched low. A Headless person. It was Cynthia.
She began to slowly crawl towards me. My heart skipped a beat as fear paralyzed me for a half second. Cynthia moved closer, moving in a jerky, unnatural motion because I hadnā€™t opted for the RealGirlā„¢ realistic joint package.
My heart skipped another beat as curiosity paralyzed me for another half a second. Would it really be so bad to let her get to me? What would she do? Fuck me to death? Then I remembered she had fully articulated hands and a skeleton made out of titanium which snapped me out of it pretty quickly.
Cynthia dragged herself along, now halfway out from under the bed, my cellphone in hand.
I leapt into action. I sprang to my feet, took a few steps towards her and kicked at her. Unfortunately, it was dark and I aimed where a head would have been had this been a real person, or a fully-functional sex doll, and broke a toe on my metal bed frame.
Cynthia grabbed for me, but I quickly took a step back and she narrowly missed, her silicone fingers just brushing the skin of my leg. I tried another kick and this time aimed for my cellphone. I connected and sent the phone sliding across the bedroom carpet where it collided with the wall with such force that it flipped itself over landing the flashlight side-down.
The room plunged into darkness with the exception of the small light of my iPhone lock screen. I needed to get to the phone before the lock screen went dark in about 10 seconds, otherwise I would probably never find it.
I made a dash for the phone, but Cynthia caught my ankle sending me crashing to the floor. I couldnā€™t look back. I needed that phone, that light. Even if it was only so I could see how I was going to die I needed it. Worst case scenario, if I decided I didnā€™t like what I was seeing, I could always just turn the light off.
Not even wasting the time to stand back up, I crawled for my phone. I could hear the joints in Cynthiaā€™s arms and legs squeak as she emerged from the bed behind me and stood herself up. (When I ordered her, they said the squeaking would fade with use, but like I said, I never used her, I want to make that very clear!) Still, I didnā€™t look back, I crawled forward, not paying attention to the rug burn on my knees or the pain that radiated up my leg from my broken toe or the 6 foot (tall girls, call me!) murderous sex bot that was standing itself up a mere few feet behind me. I need that phone.
I slammed my hand on the phone just as the light from the home screen faded away and I turned and pointed the flashlight at Cynthia.
She stood tall on her two feet, wearing a tattered and dusty school girl outfit (Iā€™m different now), one large pendulous breast hung outside of her brassiere.
I was done for. Toast. Stick a fork in me. I was lying on my back, looking up at a killer dominatrix with a titanium skeleton, no head and zero pain receptors. All she had to do was fall forward and sheā€™d be on top of me, strangling me with her delicate, perfectly formed and articulated fingers. Maybe, if I was lucky, her other breast would fall out of her shirt in the fall ā€“ you know, at least give me something to look at as life drained from me. Fortunately for me, that isnā€™t what she did.
The killer doll took one-step towards me and faltered.
The thing about sex dolls is that they are mainly designed to sit in chairs, pose on all fours and do a lot of lying on their backs. No one buys a sex doll to have it stand around. Thatā€™s like buying a dildo to use as a Christmas tree ornament. Sure, maybe with a little practice and a couple hidden supports you could have it stand around your house like some sort of fucked up anime wax museum, but thatā€™s just not what it is designed to do. Especially if you didnā€™t spring for the RealGirlā„¢ realistic joint package. I honestly doubt a real human woman would be able to stand unassisted if you gave them the strange cartoony proportions most of these dolls have.
So, Cynthia took a step towards me, wobbled, top heavy. Tried to over-correct, then fell backwards onto my night stand and started squirming to get back on her feet.
I took the opportunity to run.
I got back to my feet and found the bedroom door. My hand hesitated on the knob for a millisecond as I considered what else there might be hiding behind this door, then I opened it anyway. I rushed out of my bedroom and sprinted down the hallway, hearing moans and clicking and growling from behind the doors of the bathroom and second bedroom as I rushed past. I came to the end of the hallway to the main living area and kitchen and turned to head towards the door when I took one last look down the dark hallway towards my bedroom.
Just barely visible through the darkness was Cynthia, crawling on all fours out of the bedroom. Her head was now re-attached but backwards so she faced the ceiling as she crawled forward, her nails making a click-clack sound as she crossed from the carpeted bedroom to the hardwood floor of the hallway.
I shuddered and made for the door.
My plan was to get in the car and drive away, but I left my car keys inside. Instead, I walked to Walmart, the one place on earth where you can walk around in boxers and a white t-shirt and no one bats an eye.
For the second time in 12 hours, I was trying to distract myself to take my mind off of the horrors the lifting of the veil had shown me and this time I was stuck in a Walmart - the epicenter of human horror.
It actually wasnā€™t too bad; I only had a few hours to kill before the sun came up. At that point, Iā€™d head back to my place, get some clothes and catch up with Destiny to see if she had scheduled a meeting with her old professor yet. I supposed Iā€™d be expecting a call from Pedro at some point as well, I did promise him an internship. I just hoped I could run faster than him.

Need cleaning and spot removal advice
We bought a family memberā€™s home with nice honey oak (we think itā€™s oak?) hardwood flooring under lots of stained and gross carpet. The home is a colonial built in 1965. We have done this in other rooms and was able to sand it down and put a coat of polyurethane on and it looks great, but this room seems to have more spots than the others. The spots also arenā€™t in the best position, some wonā€™t be covered by an area rug (see top right near the next room, the stains are just not in a good spot).
The spots are most likely from dogs, or young children spilling things. For at least 40 years this hardwood was never exposed and there was always carpet overtop. I love the wood, I prefer hardwood, we have pets and I just donā€™t want carpet.
Can we sand out the stains if we rent one of those big sanders from Home Depot or something? Then do a coat of polyurethane? Thereā€™s also lots of dirt and glue stuck to the floor and Iā€™m not sure what to use to clean that off as well. Any tips or advice would be so greatly appreciated!!

2024.05.04 01:51 MistakeGlobal Large mandala-ish rug pattern

Posted in CrochetHelp but was sent here by the ModBot so here is a copy of what I asked there.
Iā€™m looking for a pattern thatā€™s fun and flat that I can use a rug. I donā€™t wanna basic circle pattern. I need FUN and will make my room pop.
I have rainbow yarn from Caron Anniversary Cakes, so already itā€™s fun but I need more FUN. Itā€™s about 2120 yards (2 skeins) so I know itā€™s enough to make one. I just canā€™t find a large rug pattern that isnā€™t a straight circle
Also is there something I can do to prevent it from slipping under me when I walk over it or can I just plop on my floor and leave it alone? Is there slip proof fabric? Something that I donā€™t have to glue down or adhere to my nice wooden floor?
The washing instructions literally say itā€™s machine washable but idk what that means when it comes to setting. Like does it mean I can wash it on the regulanormal or do I need it to be on the cold or delicate setting?

Nearly three decades after its initial release, the blockbuster video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been given new life through a remake tailored for modern platforms like Netflix. While the gripping story, expansive open world, and gritty action that made San Andreas an instant classic remain at the heart of the experience, the Netflix version elevates the title with cutting-edge graphical upgrades and improved controls to match what players have come to expect from the iconic franchise.

VISUALLY STUNNING ENVIRONMENTS AND SETTING

One of the most immediately striking features of the San Andreas remake is the complete visual overhaul bringing its diverse landscapes to life like never before. From the sun-soaked streets of Los Santos to the arid expanses of desert wilderness, the world of San Andreas pops with an extraordinary level of detail, from intricately modeled urban neighborhoods down to individual blades of grass swaying gently in the countryside breeze. Advanced lighting effects cast new depth across the landscape, while boosted draw distances fill the horizon with shapely silhouettes of distant terrain. These enhancements work in tandem to fully immerse players in an earthy, lived-in depiction of 1990s-era California that still stands apart from nearly any other open world created since.

AN ICONIC AND EMOTIONALLY RESONANT STORY

While the sights and sounds of reimagined San Andreas make their own impression, the narrative glue holding the experience together also retains its dramatic weight decades later. Protagonist Carl ā€œCJā€ Johnson embarks on a deeply personal journey as he returns home to Los Santos reeling from his motherā€™s murder, only to find his former gang and family need him more than ever as threats encroach from all sides. Itā€™s a powerful redemption story filled with action set pieces and poignant moments centered around themes of crime, police corruption, gang violence, revenge, betrayal, and fraternal bonds. Supporting characters like CJā€™s brother Sweet, crooked cop Officer Tenpenny, and many other fan favorites received similar visual touch-ups cementing their unique identities. Though players may know the beats, CJā€™s reluctant heroā€™s arc still grabs hold with cinematic flair and emotionally charged moments that stand out from typical video game fare.

DYNAMIC GAMEPLAY ROOTED IN PLAYER CHOICE

However, the engaging story acts as just one pillar holding up the multi-faceted experience Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas offers those diving into its sandbox gameplay. CJ himself is highly customizable based on player decisions governing his clothes, hairstyles, gang affiliations, vehicle preferences and driving abilities that collectively influence how he interacts with the world. Vehicles range widely from souped-up tuner cars to rugged military hardware like tanks, while the seriesā€™ signature flexible mission structure means no two playthroughs will play out exactly alike. These elements fold into innovative territory control mechanics where CJ can fight alongside or against the Grove Street Families and other gangs while claiming neighborhoods block-by-block via intense shootouts. Mini-games, side activities like basketball or casino gambling, collectibles hunting, and random world events further bolster the staggering amount of content packed into San Andreasā€™ open world.

INTUITIVE CONTROLS AND MECHANICS REFINED FOR TODAY

Tying everything together are the Android-friendly controls and targeting mechanics derived from later Grand Theft Auto releases to ensure the remake feels instantly familiar to both series veterans and newcomers alike. Whether engaged in furious firefights against enemy gangs and SWAT teams, epic high-speed pursuits from the reworked wanted system, or simply exploring the sights, the game handles smoothly with well-tuned inputs. Coupled with quality-of-life improvements lent from its sequel Grand Theft Auto V ā€“ such as visible health bars and more forgiving vehicle handling ā€“ San Andreas plays better than ever while retaining everything that established it as one of gamingā€™s most impactful sandboxes.
Nearly 20 years since its debut, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas reigns supreme as not only one of Rockstar Gamesā€™ most beloved achievements, but one of the mediumā€™s most unforgettable interactive storytelling experiences period. The Netflix release expands its reach to new audiences craving a gritty, impactful crime saga backed by best-in-class open world design ā€“ updated masterfully to push hardware like never before. Those who missed CJā€™s seminal trip through California gang culture would be remiss not taking a ride with this explosive remake.

2024.04.25 16:23 ahhdecisions7577 Temporary Scratching Solution

Iā€™ll lead by saying I would cut my own hands and feet off before Iā€™d ever have a cat declawed. Itā€™s also, thankfully, illegal in my state.
I need a safe way of decreasing my (indoor-only!) catā€™s ability to scratch herself or others to the point of drawing blood for 2 separate 1-2 week periods over the next year:
  1. My cat may need surgery to remove one of her eyes due to a pre-cancerous condition, and though she will have an e-collar for two weeks after the procedure, Iā€™d like to have an extra layer of precaution in place to prevent her from re-opening the wound if she manages to remove the e-collar (which she has been excellent at doing while Iā€™m asleep in the past).
  2. I may be adopting rabbits, and while my cat would only be allowed to interact with them under close supervision, Iā€™d want to ensure that accidental damage from playful scratching did not occur during early introductions (1-2 weeks).
I do not care at all about furniture and specifically buy furniture for the purpose of meeting her scratching needs (use jute or sisal floor rugs/ storage baskets, etc.).
Iā€™ve heard a lot of controversy around the use of claw caps and do have some concerns about their use. I know they shouldnā€™t cause physical discomfort, prevent extending or retracting claws, or prevent scratching on scratching posts if a reputable brand is used and fitted and applied correctly. But Iā€™m concerned about misapplication/ difficulty fitting them, whether the glue is actually nontoxic, and the possibility of them being swallowed. Iā€™m also worried the application process would make it easier to accidentally cut the quick of the catā€™s nails.
Looking for input on what youā€™d recommend for short-term situations like this- whether itā€™s just keeping the catā€™s nails clipped, filing them, having nail caps applied temporarily, or something else.
I havenā€™t clipped my catā€™s nails since she was a kitten because her vets have consistently told me it was unnecessary because she does a good job taking care of them herself through scratching and doesnā€™t get her claws stuck in/ on things. She is comfortable with me handling/ massaging her paws.
Thanks!

2024.04.25 03:56 tommywafflez Made some Nuka Cola

Made some Nuka Cola
Made some Nuka Cola today based on the classic designs from Fallout 3/NV. Really easy to do and only cost $15 to make.
Just need the glass coke bottles, some clear dry glue, scissors and a printer. I just used A4 plain paper and cut the labels and caps out and glued them on, but you could definitely use higher quality paper or actual label material.
For the Nuka Dark, the logos that I found only existed for the bottle rocket shaped bottles that were introduced in Fallout 4, I couldnā€™t find any ā€œwrap aroundā€ labels so to make it work for the classic bottle shape, I had to use a rectangular design I found as a background, then I placed the Nuka Dark label on top of that.
For the Quantum I used a Diet Coke, emptied it and then cleaned the cap and bottle with Dettol and bleach, when it dry put 1-2 drops of blue food colouring in it and fill it with water and voila! You have a bottle of Quantum. The shops where I live only stocked in the screw top coke bottles, if you only have access to crown cap bottles, be careful opening the bottle so you donā€™t bend the cap too much and once the water and food colouring are in you can gently hammer the cap back on the bottle.
Once youā€™ve glued the cap and label on the bottle, let them dry then give them a coat or two of the same clear dry glue to give them a bit of a varnish.
A side note: The Mexican coke bottles work great so you can use them, the text on those bottles is printed on so it can be scraped off easily with a knife. Any other coke bottle other than the Mexican ones have the text baked into the glass so it cannot be removed at all so you need to make sure your labels cover all the text on the bottle.
Links below to the images I used but you can easily find more designs on google. I didnā€™t make any of these designs so shoutout to those who did.

Alright, I wrote the final mock up for you guys!

https://preview.redd.it/f2pg3ff86ewc1.png?width=1120&format=png&auto=webp&s=18f790d7bfe1b3920eef65ded76dd37c215a8578
.
Hey everybody! I released my ultimate mock draft a couple of days ago in video format, but because I love you guys, I took the time yesterday to write it all up for you guys to read, because I appreciate that people actually take the time.
.
I only had enough characters on here for the write-ups on the half of the first round + the three picks for the non-first-round teams. You can listen to the rest here and any support with the algorithm is greatly appreciated!
.
Putting this thing together was as challenging as I can ever remember at this point, because of the uncertainty starting so early. Iā€™m not going to shock anybody with the first overall pick here, but number two appears to be a coin-flip and then from three to six, we could see a bunch of movement, which of course dictates everything that follows.
So I might still talk about some potential adjustments that may be coming based on more information coming out, but letā€™s have some fun here! This is going to be a predictive exercise, meaning based on what I hear, read and believe will happen, rather than what I think teams should do. For my thoughts on about the 150 top prospects, I have detailed scouting reports on all of them at my site halilsrealfootballtalk.com, and in my most recent video, I talked about some of my personal favorites.
Here, weā€™re going to make our way through the top-32 selections plus fits for the three teams who donā€™t currently own a first-round pick.
And as I already teased, Iā€™m not going for any hot takes or shockers here first overall ā€¦
.
.
1. Chicago Bears ā€“ Caleb Williams, QB, USC
Because of all the intrigue around who will be QB2 and some wide-ranging opinions on how these six names generally discussed as first-round picks will ultimately come off the board, there actually hasnā€™t been a ton of talk about Caleb Williams on the field at least. To me, heā€™s the best quarterback prospect Iā€™ve personally evaluated in the eight years Iā€™ve really done work on the draft. The backyard-style of play and Houdini-like play extension stuff is truly special and why he gets a lot of the Patrick Mahomes comparisons, but what isnā€™t discussed enough is how clean his mechanics are, the fact he fights to stay within the pocket and how well he can operate within structure, if he has answers for what the defense is doing. Last year, the protection and receivers he was working with at USC, along with head-scratching offensive designs, have blurred the mind of some people. But I would be shocked if he didnā€™t at least turn into a quality starter in Chicago for a long time, with the infrastructure theyā€™ve now built around him, and he has a chance to be called the best signal-caller in the franchiseā€™s history by the time he signs his second contract. Hope is coming, Bears fans!
.
2. Washington Commanders ā€“ Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina
This is where things get interesting, because weā€™ve had three different front-runners to go second overall since Caleb became the overwhelming favorite in terms of betting odds. Right now, I believe itā€™s a toss-up between North Carolinaā€™s Drake Maye and LSUā€™s Jayden Daniels, and since I have Maye graded significantly higher, thatā€™s what breaks the tie for me. Iā€™ve been saying that he is the most overthought prospect in this draft. In terms of size, arm talent, composure and mobility, this is what the NFL is always looking for. Yet, all of a sudden, heā€™s the guy people nit-pick like crazy when it comes to things like locking out his front-foot, not always having his base aligned and some of the oddly missed throws. The high-level stuff he brings in terms of layered throws down the field, the off-platform deliveries and the timely chain-moving runs easily make me look beyond those and I can live with him being a little bit too aggressive of a decision-maker. With the continued investments into the offensive line and the pass-catching crew theyā€™ve assembled, I think he has the pieces around him to be successful. Iā€™m just worried about what weā€™ll get from Kliff Kingsbury, who coincidentally was responsible for some of the issues we saw on Caleb Williamsā€™ tape as the OC for the Trojans, which can induce more hero-ball tendencies, as we discuss these top two names. But Maye to me has been QB2 for a calendar year now.
.
3. New England Patriots ā€“ Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State
Weā€™ve heard about the Patriots being ā€œopen for businessā€ with this third overall pick, kicking off what could be three or four straight trades, but I actually think they stick and pick here. Unless the Giants love whoever the Commanders donā€™t take and move up three spots here, New England will likely be in contact with one of the three teams just outside the top-10 and that probably takes them out of the range for Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt and the trio of top wide receivers. So in this scenario, I donā€™t think they get an offer that blows them away and take the slam-dunk player in Marvin Harrison Jr. He has nimble feet off the line, is really strong to break free from physical corners, weirdly flexible in his ankles to make precise cuts for being 6ā€™4ā€, 205 pounds, tracks the ball exceptionally well and his body-control at that composition is just bonkers. He doesnā€™t have elite long speed and the reason some people have Malik Nabers ahead of him as the top receiver is that he doesnā€™t offer a lot of creativity in the open field, but heā€™s as complete and pro-ready a pass-catcher as weā€™ve seen enter the league in a decade. The Patriots havenā€™t built up the support system for a rookie QB yet, but this is a critical building block for if they end up picking early again next year, as they finally get a legit number one, to go with the complementary pieces they have in place.
.
4. Las Vegas Raiders (via ARZ) ā€“ Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
Alright, letā€™s get this party started! The Cardinals have been connected as the Marvin Harrison team pretty much since the draft order was locked in. If heā€™s available for them, Iā€™d think it would take massive draft capital to move off him, but in this case heā€™s off the board and general manager Monti Ossenfort will be very happy to trade down. The Vikings have the highest draft capital to offer here and there could be some other teams in the mix, but I have the Raiders jumping them and taking Jayden Daniels. In this scenario, to move up nine spots, they also need to throw in the 44th overall pick and their first-rounder next year. However, I had to take the connection between Daniels and the guy who originally helped recruit him at Arizona State in now-Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce. Iā€™m not sure if they would be this aggressive for any other QB, but I think the Heisman trophy winner lighting up the ā€œDeath Starā€ in Vegas should also have owner Mark Davis on board. I donā€™t know if this is a plug-and-play team yet, but theyā€™ve looked at themselves differently, handing out a huge contract to Christian Wilkins in free agency and Davante Adams still there as a star receiver, who I imagine catching a bunch of the slot fades we saw Daniels air out for those LSU guys. Iā€™m a little concerned about the development plan of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, coming over from Chicago, where he was working with a similar type of profile as more of a one-read-and-go player in Justin Fields, but this possibility isnā€™t talked about enough, I believe.
.
5. Minnesota Vikings (via LAC) ā€“ J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan
And we keep the train rolling, as the Chargers at number five have been the obvious trade-down candidate the entire way pretty much. Could they just stick here and take the top offensive tackle or whoever they prefer as WR2 on their board, if they donā€™t love any of the offers made to them? ā€“ Sure. But, theyā€™re motivated to add more shots here and the Vikings didnā€™t set themselves up this way if they didnā€™t want to get their guy from Michigan. No team has been linked more frequently to McCarthy than Minnesota, and even though I believe that if Drake Maye is available at number three, theyā€™ll absolutely be calling New England, this just makes way too much sense. They swap their two first-rounders (11th and 23rd overall) plus a second next year for this pick and if thereā€™s a team set up to get the most out of J.J., itā€™s them. Anybody whoā€™s taken a look at my personal big board (which you can check out at halilsrealfootballtalk.com), knows Iā€™m significantly lower on him than consensus and I think itā€™s crazy that we talk about him in this range, but with how long this has been in the works seemingly, this doesnā€™t feel like a Will Levis-type of smokescreen. This is one of the best situations weā€™ve seen a rookie QB dropped into, where he has star receivers, a good offensive line, linked at the hip with a tremendous young play-caller and having Sam Darnold there, to not force him into the action right away. McCarthyā€™s willingness to attack the middle of the field and the ability to deliver the ball accurately on the run with his flexible arm, when they move the pocket, would fit very well.
.
6. New York Giants ā€“ Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
The top four quarterbacks are off the board and while the noise around the Giants being ready to move on from Daniel Jones seems to be getting louder, I donā€™t think they love either of the two still available at this point. So instead Iā€™m going to go chalk here and give them with what would be the number one receiver in the vast majority of draft classes in Malik Nabers. Thereā€™s been some discussion around how well his personality would fit in with a big-market team, especially with how the marriage between the Mara/Tisch franchise and Odell Beckham Jr. eventually came to an end, but Nabers provides a dynamism on the offensive side of the ball that this team has been severely missing since they moved on from OBJ. They already have a bunch of designated slot receivers on the roster, which is where this guy primarily operated from in 2023, but while I prefer him off the ball, I donā€™t have too many questions about play-strength and I think he would be an awesome flanker. The instant acceleration pops off the screen, the way he either threaten vertically and then snap off routes or lure defenders into stopping their feet momentarily and then blows by them is rare. His focus and coordination to haul in passes even through contact at just six foot stands out and then heā€™s an absolute game-breaker once the ball is in his hands.
.
7. Tennessee Titans ā€“ Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame
Who have thrown their names out as another potential trade-down candidate, but Iā€™ll take another lay-up in what otherwise is a highly challenging draft to project. Personally, I have Olu Fashanu just ahead of Alt in my offensive tackle rankings, but this is still where he stacks up for me on the big board and Iā€™d think heā€™s number one for the majority of NFL teams. 6ā€™9ā€, 320 pounds, with just over 34-inch arms, checked all the boxes from an athleticism standpoint at the combine and then heā€™s still improving, as a 21-year-old former tight-end, who has only been a full-time offensive lineman for the last three seasons with the Fighting Irish. Tennessee has let us know what they think of themselves, throwing big money at Calvin Ridley, still a solid sum for Tony Pollard, trading for and locking up Lā€™Jarius Sneed on the defensive side of the ball ā€“ they want to see what they have in Will Levis during this rookie QB contract window. New Titans head-man Brian Callahan hands a potential future All-Pro to his dad and one of the great O-line coaches in Bill Callahan. No need to overthink this or get cute here.
.
8. Arizona Cardinals (via LV and ATL) ā€“ Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
At number eight we would typically see the Falcons making their selection, but I have the Arizona Cardinals repeat what they did a year ago, when they allowed the Texans to trade up to third overall for Will Anderson Jr. but then popped back up for the offensive tackle of their choice in Paris Johnson. This time around they secure themselves the last of the ā€œbig threeā€ wide receivers. For the move up by 5 spots, they give up the first of their 3 third-rounders at 66th overall plus one of their fives. The reason they have to do this, is that I canā€™t really see Rome make it past the Bears or Jets as the next two teams up and this way they still secure themselves a legit number one, with what they currently have at the position. Odunze is incredibly smooth at 6ā€™3ā€, 210 pounds, who can elude press-attempts but also has the strength to fight through contact. Looking at the Reception Perception profile from Matt Harmon, he finished between above-average-to-elite on every route he ran and then his body-control and ball-skills are just insane. The way he adjusts to passes down the field and hjow he positions himself to win through contact is illustrated very well by the fact that he had a 75% contested catch rate. While heā€™s not quite as physical, weā€™ve already seen this type of profile match very well with Kyler Murray when he was working with DeAndre Hopkins and now the other receivers they have in Arizona slot into their more natural pecking order.
.
9. Chicago Bears ā€“ Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama
This of course really throws off the Bears here and they may be scrambling a little bit, because Rome wouldā€™ve been pretty much perfect to round out their receiver room. With just four total picks in this entire draft, they certainly canā€™t give up any more however and if anything should be moving back. Where do I have them going is the presumptive EDGE1 based on consensus boards across the league. Once Montez Sweat arrived in Chicago at the trade deadline, this defense went from 30th overall all the way up to 5th over the final nine games in terms of EPA per play. They locked up their All-Pro corner Jaylon Johnson and brought in free agent safety Kevin Byard, but by allowing Yannick Ngakoue to walk, theyā€™re looking for that more bendy speed-rushing profile across from Sweat. Dallas Turner tested well above the 90th percentile in the 40 and the jumps, to pair with 34.5-inch arms and a lot of jolt in those hands for that physical stature. Thatā€™s why I actually believe he could be a high-quality run defender and at this point heā€™s actually best converting speed-to-power as a pass-rusher. If he continues to improve his hand-combats to win at the top of the rush, with his explosion up the field and quicks to cross-face blockers or create softer edges by threatening inside, he could be a double-digit sack producer in multiple years of his rookie deal.
.
10. New York Jets ā€“ Troy Fautanu, OT/IOL, Washington
Rounding out the top ten, I really thought about closing the chapter on the premiere pass-catchers with tight-end Brock Bowers, who seems to be the clear favorite to be the pick here, but if the Jets are serious about winning this year and honest with themselves about where they could once again be vulnerable, they need to continue investing into the offensive line and I have them going with the versatile blocker from Washington. They have their choice here of OT2 and could go several different directions, but I believe Fautanu presents the most logical choice here. Looking at Gang Greenā€™s currently slated starting five, you can win with that group if you have it for a full 17, but Tyron Smith has played a total of 30 games over the past four seasons combiined and Alijah Vera-Tucker has only logged 12 starts since his rookie year in 2021. So even if whoever they select here doesnā€™t start day one theoretically, you probably need him to fill in at one of those spots sooner rather than later. And thatā€™s where I love the match with Fautanu, because while all but two of his 31 career starts came at left tackle, I feel best about his ability to take snaps at four of the five spots at least, because of the easy movement skills he presents, whether thatā€™s sliding laterally to mirror pass-rushers or climbing up into the defensive backfield in the run game.
.
11. Los Angeles Chargers (via MIN) ā€“ J.C. Latham, OT, Alabama
This sets off our run on offensive linemen to some degree, with seven of 15 selections from pick ten onwards being from that group. The Chargers were already linked to this player early on and I wouldnā€™t be shocked if they took him fifth overall, but in this case they can add two more valuable selections and still get J.C. Latham. They could certainly go Brock Bowers here without a difference-making tight-end on the roster or take their top corner, but the messaging by Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz has been clear, wanting to become a ā€œbigger, more physical teamā€. Well, how does a 6ā€™6ā€, 340-pound All-SEC right tackle from Alabama sound? Latham packs a ton of raw force in those 11-inch hands and can unlock that lower half to dig defenders out of the lane, 35-inch arms extend his range as a pass-protector and when he puts those clamps on you, he puts you in a cage. Funnily, a couple of bad plays from their College Football Playoff game against Harbaughā€™s Wolverine is what people refer to negatively with him, but he played a really good game otherwise and I think offensive Greg Roman is licking his chops at the possibility of swapping out Trey Pipkins ā€“ off a regression year ā€“ for this guy.
.
12. Jacksonville Jaguars (via DEN) ā€“ Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo
This is where I make another trade and of the ones Iā€™ve done so far, this is not cleanest one to predict. However, thereā€™s no player that truly sticks out to me for the Broncos in terms of a need they want to address and where value exists. They could absolutely target this player here themselves, but I think Jaguars GM Trent Baalke will be even more intrigued with this profile and be willing to trade up the top corner in this class. And the Broncos should be very interested in getting a second-round pick back (since they donā€™t currently own one themselves) in exchange for their fourth plus one of their two fives, as they move down five spots. Mitchell is right there in terms of the measurables youā€™re looking for at the position, has 4.33 speed, major ball-production, dominated at the MAC level and absolutely rocked this pre-draft process. The two days he spent at the Senior Bowl were as clean as Iā€™ve ever seen for a corner, with how easy he could de- and re-accelerate, wants to locate and make plays on the ball and while he played a lot of off-zone coverage, he has 10-inch hands and the mirror skills to project as someone who could become very effective in press. So while they have Tyson Campbell on the final year of his rookie deal with a decision looming, Quinyon can jump into the spot of Darious Williams ā€“ who they shockingly released early on this offseason ā€“ playing off, with vision on the quarterback in that field-side role he also excelled at with the Rockets.
.
13. Atlanta Falcons (via ARZ and LV) ā€“ Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA
So the Falcons move back five spots in this scenario, because while EDGE is the clear favorite in terms of positions they want to address, they probably feel confident that they can get one of those big three names at the top here still ā€“ and with how this played out, Alabamaā€™s Dallas Turner is the only one off the board. So the decision here came down to Florida Stateā€™s Jared Verse and the guy I actually picked for them is the reigning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Who if you take away the injury concern, I believe has a very strong case to be the best defensive player in this draft at this moment. His technical advancement with all the different hand-combats in his toolbox, how he counters the approach of tackles against him and is able to build up comprehensive rush plans in those individual matchups, is about as good as youā€™re going to find from a college player at that position. Not the type of freakish athlete or has the length of Turner, but I donā€™t have any concerns with the functional movement skills. Heā€™s not a firm edge-setter by the book in the run game, but the block-deconstruction and ability to create quick stops are on display. Latu gets to reunite with his former defensive coordinator at Washington in Jimmy Lake, who along with Raheem Morris will value his ability to peel off into coverage occasionally, on top immediately becoming their best true edge rusher.
.
14. New Orleans Saints ā€“ Olu Fashanu, OT, Penn State
You kind of know this pick is going to be an offensive tackle or that power-profile edge defender they love so much. I went with the former, because of how pressing a need it is, giving them the All-Big Ten left tackle from the Nittany Lions. The Saintsā€™ tackle situation somewhat quietly is an absolute catastrophe. Trevor Penning unfortunately has been even more problematic in his first season of action than I thought he might be when they traded up for him in the draft two years ago, getting benched eventually, with Andrus Peat moving out to left tackle from guard ā€“ whose only remaining presence on the roster is his 13-million-dollar dead cap hit. And then, we recently got news on Ryan Ramczyk on the right side with his degenerative knee issues, which could lead to an early retirement. Fashanu is actually my number one tackle, right there with Notre Dameā€™s Joe Alt, and he wouldā€™ve been a top-ten pick in last yearā€™s draft by all accounts. Fashanu is one of those names who has just been overthought during the process and while he didnā€™t show a whole lot of improvement in the run game, where heā€™s still more of a positional blocker than a road-grader, he doesnā€™t have many missed assignments in that regard and then he has the ability to become an elite pass-protector, thanks to his impeccable balance and quick hands, even if they are weirdly small. My high-end comparison for him is Texans Pro Bowler Laremy Tunsil.
.
15. Indianapolis Colts ā€“ Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
Corner is certainly something GM Chris Ballard could be looking to address, after they were just throwing day-three picks and UDFAs out there last year, to see who sticks. Yet, this is where the Brocks Bowers slide stops. This has been one of the more fun pairings Iā€™ve envisioned throughout the process, between Bowers and head coach Shane Steichen. The Colts have a couple of young tight-ends they like in Jelani Woods, Kylen Granson and even Drew Ogletree, along with veteran Mo Alie-Cox still under contract. So this doesnā€™t jump out as a spot on the depth chart, where they donā€™t have anybody of note. With that being said, that designation doesnā€™t do Bowers justice and itā€™s more about the ways I can imagine him being used by a creative offensive coordinator. He can obviously stretch the seams and run away from guys on crossing routes, but he can split out as a single receiver on the backside of the formation and win on all three levels with the way he can efficiently break off routes. The hand-eye coordination and strong hands in tight areas stand out, but then itā€™s that extra gear after the catch and the horsepower to drag tacklers along with him that made him a man amongst boys even in the SEC. Now you add him to those two towers they have on the outside in Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce, Josh Downs as a quick-footed player in the slot and a guy in Bowers who can eat over the middle of the field, for Anthony Richardson to work with in year two, this offense could really take off.
.
16. Seattle Seahawks ā€“ Byron Murphy II, IDL, Texas
When we get to the Seahawks in these mock drafts, typically you see them go offensive line or with the edge rusher that falls to them, but I actually think they address the interior defensive line with who established himself as the top guy on NFL boards once he tested off the charts at the combine. There are still a couple of offensive tackles from what I believe is the top-six available here, but with Mike Macdonald coming over from Baltimore to take over this franchise, I believe he wants to bring them back to the glory days of the Legion of Boom and what you do on the back-end doesnā€™t matter as much when you feel like youā€™re constantly being compromised by having to put more focus on the front. Seattle has finished 26th and 29th respectively in rush EPA defensively these past two years, thanks to a combination of front dynamics, slow linebackers and a lack of consistent play from the nose-tackle spot. And Iā€™m not saying Murphy is going to be lining up at zero-technique for them primarily and single-handedly fixing their run defense, but he actually spent more time there than his teammate T'Vondre Sweat, who has a good 60 pounds on him. This guy has an innate feel for where pressure is being applied from and you see him at times with his body contorted, knee just inches off the ground anchoring against double-teams. Then if the offense spreads them out, he can line up in the B-gap, come off the ball like a submarine under the reach of the guard or take that guy into the quarterbackā€™s lap. Right now, heā€™s playing a little bit out of control, but you let him learn from Leonard Williams and Dreā€™Mont Jones, he could turn into a legit game-wrecker.
.
.
17. Denver Broncos (via JAX) ā€“ Bo Nix, QB, Oregon
.
.
18. Cincinnati Bengals ā€“ Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State
.
.
19. Philadelphia Eagles (via LAR) ā€“ Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama
.
.
20. Buffalo Bills (via PIT) ā€“ Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU
.
.
21. Miami Dolphins ā€“ Graham Barton, IOL, Duke
.
.
22. Los Angeles Rams (via PHI) ā€“ Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State
.
.
23. Los Angeles Chargers (via MIN) ā€“ Jerā€™Zhan Newton, IDL, Illinois
.
.
24. Dallas Cowboys ā€“ Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia
.
.
25. Green Bay Packers ā€“ Jackson Powers-Johnson, IOL, Oregon
.
.
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ā€“ Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State
.
.
27. Arizona Cardinals ā€“ Darius Robinson, EDGE/IDL, Missouri
.
.
28. Pittsburgh Steelers (via BUF) ā€“ Cooper DeJean, Defensive Back, Iowa
.
.
29. Kansas City Chiefs (via DET) ā€“ Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
.
.
30. Baltimore Ravens ā€“ Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona
.
.
31. San Francisco 49ers ā€“ Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma
.
.
32. Detroit Lions (via KC) ā€“ Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson
.
.
.
That brings the first round to a close, and you can read over it here again, but I did want to just briefly hit on a couple of ā€¦
.

Other players I considered:

.
Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington ā€“ I could absolutely see a team jump back into the first round to select him, secure the potential of a fith-year option, but with Penix you already have a guy that is 24 years old as a rookie and we know plenty about what he is, even though we may not be fully sure what the transition to the pros looks like, and the injury history at Indiana is of course concerning. 34 to the Patriots is very much possible or I could see the Raiders potentially trading up early in the second round, if they donā€™t end up making a move early, very much in the mold of what happened to Will Levis coming out of Kentucky last year, as the second pick of day two.
.
A few other receivers I was thinking about, but weā€™ll get to one here in a second. Just felt the need to mention Xavier Worthy from Texas, because the NFL obviously loves speed and this is officially the fastest man to ever enter the league ā€“ so I donā€™t expect him to hang around for very long if he doesnā€™t actually go in the first round.
.
Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama ā€“ My number 3 corner, worthy of going somewhere in the 20s. I was kind of going back and forth with him and Wiggins ā€“ who is just ahead in my rankings ā€“ for who the Lions would pick at 32 and with how much single-high they like to run, he wouldā€™ve also made a lot of sense for the Steelers, but recovering from the foot surgery and not having done the agility drills at his pro day, as good as I think he is at anticipating routes and disrupting receivers off the line, in this case he has to settle for early 2nd round.
.
And two longshots that I wanted to bring up here quickly:
Marshawn Kneeland, EDGE, Western Michigan ā€“ Had an excellent Senior Bowl week, followed up by some great combine testing at 6ā€™3ā€, around 270 pounds. Someone with incredible play-strength and untapped potential as a player who wasnā€™t always put in position for major production.
Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M ā€“ In a fairly underwhelming linebacker class, he stands out in terms of athletic ability and some of the high-end plays he put on tape, as a guy that can shoot gaps & create TFLs in the run game, blitz from different angles & has the loose movement skills to make plays in coverage. N.C. Stateā€™s Payton Wilson I have just ahead of Cooper as LB1, but of course he comes with a pretty scary medical history
.
.
.
But now letā€™s still show some love to the ā€¦
.

Teams outside the first round:

.
33. Carolina Panthers ā€“ Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
This is very much in-line with what you see out there in mock drafts, with Ladd being a guy right on the fringe of late first/early second round. I think thereā€™s enough out there by now with people being clowned for comparing him to all the other well-known white receivers weā€™ve watched in recent years. He can certainly win on option routes and pick away against matchups in the slot, but he played nearly 80% of snaps on the outside last season and will be lining up at Z in two-wide receiver sets. Threatens vertically off the line, great ability to alter speeds and giving defenders false indicators, solid hands, routinely makes the first man miss after the catch and a smart, invested blocker. Heā€™s my WR6. I also strongly considered Ricky Pearsall from Florida (who I have right behind him) ā€“ another light-skinned dude who is labelled as a slot only, but brings the same kind of speed component and I think can absolutely play as a flanker. I just think Ladd projects as a little bit more of a volume guy for a team that has targets to spare, based on what they have on the roster currently.
.
42. Houston Texans ā€“ Braden Fiske, IDL, Florida State
Looking at this Texans roster, thereā€™s not a whole lot youā€™re considering as actual needs in terms of starting players, but rather depth on the offensive line and secondary ā€“ which I believe they can address later. Someone who could get on the field early and make real impact for them is Fiske. They brought in Foley Fatukasi and Denico Autry in free agency, along with Mario Edwards Jr. as another guy with inside-out flexibility. However, in terms of natural three-techniques playing on the edge of the guard and creating penetration ā€“ which DeMeco Ryans and defensive coordinator Matt Burke have valued highly during their time in San Francisco ā€“ they donā€™t really have anybody that youā€™d project to play volume snaps for them currently. I believe there are some concerns about Fiskeā€™s ability to deal with double-teams and being outreached by blockers at around 290 pounds with 31-inch arms. However, the ball get-off is right up there with Texasā€™ Byron Murphy for best in the class among the D-tackles, packs a nice club-rip move, capable of cross-facing guards and plays with a relentless motor. He may not even have to play a whole lot of first downs for this Houston team, but then heā€™ll boost that interior rush in designated passing situations.
.
54. Cleveland Browns ā€“ Junior Colson, LB, Michigan
Finally, I did want to bring a linebacker into the equation, which was one of two positions ā€“ along with safety (unless you count Iowaā€™s Cooper DeJean as such) ā€“ where we might not see anybody get selected until this point. The Browns are very much like the Texans in terms of a roster where the starting-22 offense and defense combined is very complete. They just have more standout players Iā€™d argue, but quarterback obviously is a much bigger question mark for them. As we look at this Cleveland defense, which finished first or second in pretty much every meaningful metric, theyā€™re bringing back basically everybody from that group a year ago other than Anthony Walker Jr., whoā€™s been the guy thatā€™s been kind of a glue piece at middle linebacker, but they havenā€™t been willing to commit to, signing one-year deals each of the past three seasons, and heā€™s signed to Miami this offseason. Now youā€™re looking at Jordan Hicks or Devin Bush to fill that spot. Junior Colson should be an upgrade over either one of them, because he can actually stay on the field for all three downs. Rarely gets caught out of position, excellent short-area burst to fill gaps in the run game, sturdy to deal with bigger bodies in traffic, can cover backs and tight-ends in man, plus then heā€™s this rugged blitzer, who can help free up lanes as the actual set-up man on pressure looks.
.
.
That wraps up this exercise for me and kind of puts a cap on the pre-draft season at least, as weā€™re just days away from the big show and I honestly canā€™t wait! How to check this floor glue for asbestos in melb
Need to remove this dark glue from a wooden floor. It was there since before we purchased the house (and was under a rug when we inspected).
Could it contain asbestos? How do I get it checked? Any recommendations

2024.04.19 17:06 tawaytodd Glue or adhesive recommendations for highly flexible bond?

Hi all, hoping someone here can offer some advice. Iā€™m trying to make my own version of the Grovemade Matte Desk Pad, which is natural linoleum backed with cork. So I have a sheet of linoleum (natural, not PVC) and a sheet of cork, and I need to bind them. I am looking for an adhesive that I can apply at home that will hold strong in the long term, and Iā€™d like it to be flexible enough that I can roll up the desk pad like a poster if I ever need to move (or, as I hope to do in the future, when I make more of them for friends). In an ideal world it would also be as non-toxic, eco-friendly, and low odor as possible.
The option Iā€™m most strongly considering right now is Tufting Nationā€™s TN-100 natural latex rug glue, which based on the description sounds strong, durable, flexible, and eco-friendly. However, Iā€™m wondering if others have better suggestions? I have very little experience with adhesives and want to make sure Iā€™m not missing something that would be markedly better for the job.
I really appreciate any & all input! Thank you!

2024.04.18 13:42 send-it-psychadelic I glued myself to my wife's boyfriend

It happened somewhat by accident. I was cycling us around a UPS truck (obviously in the bike line) when the murder wagon meister tried to hit me with the door but forgot that his low-capacity brown shitbox doesn't have a door and his arm was just flailing out the gaping sadness portal to his detestable capitalist throne of a life of torture. We were safe. For now.
Realizing what he thought was his prey was escaping, he honked at the police officer ahead to bring his attention to our unoppressed state of freedom. As the fully funded mercenary of the automotive hegemony unholstered his pepper spray, I correctly predicted his instincts were calibrated for aiming at innocent pedestrians while shooting left-handed from his taxpayer funded driver-side window. My swerves were in perfect harmony with is slowly realized discombobulation of murderous carBraIneD hatred confounded by the maneuverability of my steed.
Just as we were about to make our getaway, the intense g-forces my cycling generated had bumped my wife almost a half meter out of the trailer. My wife's boyfriend, struggling to pull the situation together as I continued accelerating, seemed to be losing his own ass too. Though my pulsating gluts screamed fire as the nature coal of my man horse pulled us free from the violent malevolents of the car nation, Paul had already begun to slide away and my wife would be cast to the asphalt.
Having anticipated this outcome with my highly tuned sir velo reflexes, I had uncapped my tactical glue (for impromptu protests) and jammed the liquid justice out onto my rugged steed-guiding mitt. Held into the jet stream of our furious rate of progress, the tactical glue instantly became critical. I aggressively slapped Paul's ass with my activated power paw, driving the tactical glue through every gap between every fiber of his pants, instantly bonding us skin to skin.
With the power of the spider man, the adrenaline of my thrusting pedals providing the leverage upon the blessed saddle, with core strength a man with a 300km diaphragm, I hoisted my passengers back into our frame of pure acceleration. As the pressure wave built up in front of us, amid the shattering windows. We were supersonic. As my wattage exceeded nine thousand, we transitioned into plaid and were instantly teleported to our destination. The three of us dined out, having saved $8.00 on gasoline, while my hand remained on Paul's ass the entire time.

2024.04.16 19:10 Entheojinn Wandering Plants of Saturn

This is from my fantasy version of Saturn, describing some of the native life there.
The jungles near the great city of Aquarium. Although the trees are titanic, even the small denizens of this rain forest can be remarkable. Take, for example, this strange green disc on the forest floor, no more than four or five inches in diameter. This living being, which resembles nothing so much as a saucer made from moss, is a wanderwort. It is an extraordinarily primitive organism which has changed very little over the eons. Four hundred and fifty million years ago, when Earth was in the Ordovician period, the ancestors of the wanderwort, looking very much like this one, first emerged here in the jungles of Saturn. Its green color, the result of chlorophyll in its cells, may make you think that itā€™s a plant...but itā€™s not. Unlike virtually all plants, the wanderwort has the ability to move. Not very quickly, mind you, but over the course of an hour, a motivated wanderwort can cover almost six feet. And what, you might ask, can motivate a wanderwort? For the answer to that, we have to look to the skies.
Saturnā€™s atmosphere at higher levels is mostly hydrogen, but here, close to Saturnā€™s surface, the air is breathable and water vapor is plentiful. In between, however, there is a layer dominated by clouds of ammonium hydrosulfide. At the interface between the innermost layer of Saturnā€™s atmosphere and this ammonial layer, water and ammonium hydrosulfide clouds mix, producing aqueous solutions of ammonium, which is basic, and hydrogen sulfide, which is acidic; both are caustic. This falls periodically as acid rain on the land below. Saturnā€™s organisms, in places where acid rain is common, have adapted in many ways to endure this atmospheric hazard, but the wanderwort and its kin have evolved one of the most unique.
The wanderwort has specialized cells on its surface that are sensitive to changes in pH in the surrounding air, and when acid rain begins to fall, the wanderwort scurries for cover. It takes shelter under rocks or under plants which are better adapted to withstand acid rain. Then, when the danger has passed, it emerges again.
Wanderworts, although they resemble both, are neither plants nor animals; rather, they belong to an entirely different kingdom, unique to Saturn, the phyta. Like plants, the cells of phyta contain chlorophyll which allows them to undergo photosynthesis, but unlike plants, whose cell walls are made of cellulose, only some of the cells of the phyta contain that more rigid substance. Many do not, and are soft and flexible. This allows the many millions of species of phyta to flex and bend, to move in ways that are unavailable to plants.
Hundreds of millions of years ago, the phyta separated from plants and began evolving into a vast array of forms. The wanderwort is only the most primitive of these. Over time, phyta evolved woody, rigid ā€œskeletonsā€ made of cellulose as hard and as dense as bone, and serving much the same purpose. Convergent evolution means that many phyta have evolved structures similar to those found in plants: some have tough barks for protection or leaves to collect light. But, being mobile, most phyta lack roots, and cannot draw nutrients directly from the ground; in order to meet their nutritional needs, they must look for sustenance elsewhere.
Here, on this tree branch, more than three hundred feet above the ground, is a row of bromeliads. These plants are adapted for life high in the canopy, and plants similar to them can be found on Earth. One might be forgiven for assuming that nothing is particularly distinctive or interesting about them...except for this one here on the end. This looks like a bromeliad at first glance, but it is not. It is, in fact, a phyton, a frondhopper, which, through convergent evolution, has adapted to almost perfectly mimic the bromeliads. The broad green fronds capture sunlight, but thatā€™s not what the frondhopper is after. Clinging to the tree branch with its short, stubby legs, itā€™s waiting.
A dew shrimp travels from flower to flower, seeking nectar. The bromeliadsā€™ large, trumpet-shaped flowers make a tempting target...and a serious danger for the shrimp. Because the frondhopper has flowers of its own, flowers almost indistinguishable from those of the bromeliads, and when the shrimp lands in one, the frondhopper strikes. Only some of the blooms on its back are actually flowers; the others are traps, which the frondhopper can close voluntarily to ensnare the shrimp. The ā€œpetalsā€ close tightly and a viscous sappy glue is secreted from pores inside the trap, rendering the shrimp quite helpless. Now the frondhopper can slowly digest the shrimp at its leisure. If there are few shrimps or other pollinators present, the frondhopper can move on in search of richer hunting grounds.
Phyta prey on plants, animals, and their fellow phyta not only because they lack roots, but because the light reaching Saturn from the sun is so weak. In the tropics, where the sun is bright and the days are long, plants grow in profusion, but elsewhere on the planet, there is less light and thus fewer plants, and it is here that the phyta come into their own.
These ā€œvegetable lambsā€ are grazers; each one is about the size of a collie, and they roam the high meadows of many of Saturnā€™s mountain ranges. The ā€œwoolā€ on their backs is actually a plant-like fiber. It keeps them warm and helps them preserve energy where food supplies are scarce. Because Saturnian sunlight is weak, plants are not a particularly nourishing source of energy. The vegetable lambs must spend many hours every day cropping these grasses to ensure that they can survive.
Water, too, is an issue. Many regions of Saturn are almost completely arid, and the water table in these regions is so low that no plantā€™s roots could ever reach it. But thanks to its mobility, the desert-adapted phyton such as this cactal can seek water out, rather than wait for it to arrive. The cactal is a predator, not of arthropods like the frondhopper, but of bigger, more substantial prey. Its green hide is thick and gnarled, not only trapping moisture inside but protecting it against the hooves and claws, teeth and horns, of its targets. It is also covered in sharp spines; these are actually adapted leaves which continue to photosynthesize while losing little in the way of moisture. And they make tangling with the cactal a risky proposition.
Around this watering hole, a flock of gosselles has gathered. Itā€™s deep in the dry season, and the hole has shrunk to a small fraction of its wet-season size. The gosselles are nervous, but they must drink. They have good reason to be nervousā€”watering holes, particularly now, are magnets for predators. The cactal is one of them. It wonā€™t, however, strike by day; a fully-grown gosselle is too large for it to take, and it will have to go for one of the juveniles, but during daylight the young gosselles are well-protected by their parents. The cactal will wait for night.
Dusk falls, and the gosselles are on high alert. Their long necks crane about, seeking any threat, and they hiss to warn predators that they mean business. Those long broad bills of theirs can give a nasty peck. Itā€™s a real risk that the cactal might lose an eye. But in the dark, the gosselles can neither see nor smell the cactal, and its soft, mossy paws mean that they can barely hear it. It closes in, preparing to strike.
The attack seems to come from nowhereā€”the cactalā€™s spines mean that even in daylight itā€™s hard to see among the brush and by night itā€™s almost invisible. It springs from cover and in an instant has its claws into a young gosselle. Hissing and honking, the gosselles bolt, the youngling trying to follow. But the cactal has too firm a hold, and now the gosselle is forced to fight for its life. Itā€™s a desperate struggle, because even this juvenile, not even a year old, is large compared to the cactal. But the cactal relies on its spines and its thick hide to protect it, and after a wearying several minutes, it manages to exhaust the gosselle enough to allow the cactal to deliver the deathblow. The moisture and nutrients in the gosselle will keep the cactal going for a little longer, here in this rugged and arid desert waste.
All phyta reproduce using seeds. Some are tiny, barely bigger than a grain of sand, while others are as large as coconuts. But unlike plants, phyta do not need to rely on passive methods to scatter their seeds. They can do it themselves.
This troop of woodwoses fills much the same ecological niche as apes do on Earth, and with their shaggy green coats of fur-like leaves, they even resemble apes. Normally they live deep in the jungles, but thatā€™s no place to plant their seeds; the soil is poor and little light reaches the forest floor. Therefore, like many phyta, the woodwoses undergo an annual migration. They are moving with a sense of purpose. Not far, because here in the tropics they can usually find what they need close at hand.
A broad, lazy river flows through the forest. Its banks, provided they are not too marshy, are the perfect place for the woodwoses to plant their seeds. But there is danger here. River lions lurk beneath the waterā€™s surface, and if a woodwose gets too close, it may end up as a meal rather than a parent. Redfang vipers, some fifty feet long, swim these waters, too, and theyā€™ll gladly take a woodwose if they can get it. Fortunately for the woodwoses, they have allies. This river is home to hippoderms, who emerge from the water to graze, and they have sharp tusks which make them formidable for even a river lion to tackle. The woodwoses have excellent eyesight, making them sharp lookouts, so the two species have a mutual alliance: the hippoderms can graze in peace while the woodwoses plant their seeds, each defending the other. Once theyā€™ve done, the woodwoses will return to the depths of the forest for the next several months, only returning once the seeds have sprouted and need to be plucked.
For most phyta, it is only during their sprouting phase, when they are maturing underground, that they have roots. But some genera of phyta have abandoned the mobile lifestyle and adopted a more sedentary one. This vast organism, found in the icy north, looks very much like a redwood tree. But an earthworm is more closely related to a pelican than this is related to a tree. This is an ironwood gigas, the largest of all phyta. Reaching a height of six hundred feet, and weighing in at more than ten thousand tons, it is truly a giant of the northern forests. This species evolved many thousands of miles to the south; we know this because of its needles. Each needle is a foot long and as thick as a pencil, and itā€™s coated with a thin layer of glass, made from silica absorbed from the soil. The purpose of this coating is to allow light through but not acid rain. Except, here in the far north, acid rain never falls; it is simply too cold. Therefore, we can only conclude that the ironwood gigasā€™s ancestors must have evolved in the frozen rain forests further south, where it is too cold for water rain to fall, but not too cold for ammonium rain. Here, on the very fringe of where plants and phyta can grow, the gigas does not need to worry about acid rain. So why, then, does it retain this glass coating? We must remember that, although the gigas looks like a tree, it is not a tree. Like a tree, it has a tall, thick trunk with many branches, but unlike a tree, it has a nervous system. This giant organism, so seemingly immobile, is in fact intelligent. If we watch carefully, we will see that the enormous limbs of the ironwood gigas are slowly moving, even though there is no wind. Not just the limbs, but the branches and even the twigs are gradually shifting. For a long time, the purpose of this motion was a mystery, but we now know that the ironwood gigases are using this movement to communicate with one another. The secret is in the needles. Their glassy surfaces catch the light and reflect it; by adjusting the angle of their branches, the gigases can modulate the reflected light and thus signal others of their species. What, exactly, they are communicating to one another, we do not know. And exactly how intelligent they actually are also remains an enigma.
These are not the only intelligent phyta on Saturn, nor the most notable. That title belongs to the Dendryads. They are the great success story of the phyta, spreading throughout Saturn and founding innumerable cultures and civilizations. Language, art, religion, science, politics, literature, industryā€”sapience in all its myriad manifestations is the inheritance of the Dendryads. Their cities, their magnificent art and architecture, are the culmination of a journey that began half a billion years ago, in a forest where, for the first time, a few blind and unthinking plants began to move. From the wanderwort to the Dendryad, the phyta have proven themselves not only survivors, but conquerors of Saturn and all its many habitats.

I recently gave the Thorn Archery Crossbow Broadheads a try, and I must say, they've been a game-changer in my hunting adventures! The hidden blade technology truly impresses - it's like the broadheads disappear when in flight, only to reveal their sharp, bone-crushing secrets upon impact.
These babies are perfect for those crossbows with top speeds of 350 fps, and they've made quite the statement in the field. Unfortunately, I haven't yet found a perfect match for these bad boys, as the blades seem to have a knack for vanishing without a trace - leaving no blood trail behind. But hey, I'm still on the hunt for the perfect quarry, and I'll keep you posted on any updates!

As a passionate turkey hunter, I've had the chance to use Rage Xtreme Turkey Broadhead in my latest hunting expedition. It has made quite an impression on me. The first thing that caught my attention was the unique design of the broadhead, with the anodized aluminum ferrule and meat hook cut-on-contact tip. It's a sight to behold and adds a level of confidence when aiming at your target.
I was also pleased with the swept-back blade angle and the Extreme series shock collar. These features allow for a precise and reliable deployment of the blades, ensuring that I'm making the most out of every shot. The 100 grain weight provides an optimal balance between accuracy and penetration, further enhancing the overall performance of the broadhead.
While I didn't experience any drawbacks during my hunting trip, I have heard from other hunters who've had issues with the broadhead bouncing off targets instead of penetrating them. This issue seems to be more common when using the broadhead at closer range, particularly with a crossbow.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience using the Rage Xtreme Turkey Broadhead, and I believe it can be a valuable tool in any turkey hunter's arsenal, provided that you are mindful of its specific characteristics and limitations.

šŸ”—Rage X-Treme RC 2-Blade Crossbow Broadheads - 2 Pack (100 grain, Stainless Steel, Anodized Aluminum)

I recently had the chance to try out the Rampage X-Treme NC Crossbow 100gr Broadheads-2 Pack and let me tell you, they definitely lived up to their name! The vast cutting diameter of 2.3 inches truly made a difference in the field, as it created devastating wound channels on game.
One feature that stood out to me was the integrated blade containment system. It ensured that the broadheads remained intact during flight, which added to the overall accuracy and performance of the product. Also, the 100 grain cut-on-contact and ravin crossbow compatibility made them a breeze to use.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks I experienced. The first issue was the 2-pack limitation, as it made it difficult to practice with just one broadhead. The other concern was the performance of the broadheads at a lower fps, as I had mine deployed prematurely on a deer.
Despite these minor setbacks, the Rampage X-Treme NC Crossbow 100gr Broadheads-2 Pack definitely lived up to its reputation for power, precision, and performance. If you're looking to upgrade your crossbow hunting game, these broadheads are definitely worth giving a try!

One feature that stood out to me is the plastic snap holder, which helps ensure blade and user safety. The broadheads fit virtually any arrow, quiver, and broadhead box, making them a versatile choice for any hunter. However, I've noticed that the blades have a tendency to rattle in the package, which might affect their sharpness upon arrival.
Overall, the SIK SK2 Broadheads have proven to be a reliable and accurate option for my hunting needs. While there are a few minor issues, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I highly recommend these broadheads to any hunter looking for a high-performing and durable choice.

Ah, the Slick Trick Assailant, a broadhead that's been a constant companion in my hunting pursuits. Picture this: a crisp autumn morning, the forest still bathed in a mystical mist. My trusty compound bow rests securely in my grip, the Assailant broadhead piercing the feather of the arrow readied for flight. With the pull of the trigger, the arrow sails towards its intended target - a wild buck, standing at the edge of a clearing.
The sight is exhilarating - the Assailant's chisel tip, with its promise of maximum penetration, slicing through the air, and the mechanical blades, expanding and locking onto their quarry. The broadhead's massive cutting surface, a whopping 2 5/8", makes for a sight to behold as it plunges into the buck. The stainless steel construction ensures durability and strength, a testament to Slick Trick's commitment to delivering top-notch quality.
However, there is a downside. The mechanical blades, while effective, have an unfortunate tendency to bend after use, diminishing their reusability. It's a frustrating setback, considering the overall stellar performance of the Assailant. Nevertheless, the field-proven Alcatraz Blade Lock System provides a reliable solution, ensuring the broadhead remains locked and secure on the arrow shaft.
In conclusion, the Slick Trick Assailant is a broadhead that delivers on its promises, offering precision, accuracy, and the devastating cutting power demanded in the world of archery hunting. While there are minor drawbacks, the overall experience makes it a product I wholeheartedly recommend and look forward to using again in future hunts.

When I first decided to try the Sik F4 100 Grain Broadheads, I had my doubts. But as I started using them, I was pleasantly surprised by their performance. The first thing I noticed was their accuracy - these broadheads are incredibly precise and consistent. I was able to hit my target with ease, even at longer distances.
One of the standout features of these broadheads is their razor-honed blade angle. It definitely makes a difference, as the blades cut through the skin like butter. The 1.350 inch cutting diameter and 3.350 inch cutting surface are impressive, too. I've seen some amazing blood trails after using these, and the broadheads have held up well even after multiple shots.
However, there were a couple of downsides I encountered. For one, the broadheads did produce a whistling noise while flying through the air, which might be off-putting for some hunters. Additionally, I found that they didn't fly quite as field-point accurate as I would have liked, which meant I had to make some adjustments with my bow.
Overall, the Sik F4 Broadheads have been a great addition to my hunting gear. They've proven to be reliable, sharp, and accurate, and I'm excited to use them on more hunts in the future.

Sik's F4CB Crossbow Broadheads are a game-changer in my daily hunting routine. The accuracy and lethality of this crossbow broadhead are unmatched, delivering swift and accurate strikes that made me feel confident up in the stand. With its laser-welded stainless steel 4-blade design, I was truly impressed by the level of precision I achieved while sighting in, making those tough long-distance shots a breeze.
One thing that stood out to me was the incredible 27-degree razor-honed blade angle, which provided such an exceptional cutting diameter that I didn't have to worry about penetration or blood trails, making my harvesting all the more efficient. However, I did notice that some users experienced poor blood trails, which could be a minor drawback for some hunters.
I love that these broadheads produce a 1.35-inch cutting diameter and a generous 3.35-inch cutting surface, so I could be sure that my shots were delivering fatal damage. I also found it great that they shot like field points, creating smooth flight without any wobbling or planing in flight. The sport type, Hunting, made this broadhead very suitable for my needs, always coming through for me when I needed a reliable tool out in the wild.
The one downside I came across during my hunting experience was that some customers reported struggling with high performance crossbows, so it might not be the most optimal crossbow broadhead for all speeds. But, for my use, it has been a fantastic addition to my hunting gear.

https://preview.redd.it/7i8uvmm1bsuc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf9da4aa372d3c953872ab182139abc198e13b5b
As I ventured into the world of archery, I stumbled upon the Nap Spitfire Edge Broadhead, a game-changer in my hunting experience. The cutting diameter of 1 3/4 inches was impressive, and the micro-grooved slimline ferrule delivered accuracy like never before. The hardened trophy tip point was a testament to its strength, as it sliced through hide, flesh, and arteries with ease. And let me tell you, those offset blades were the real stars of the show, leaving massive blood trails and gapping exit holes.
One aspect that couldn't be faulted was its precision manufacturing, which provided me with out-of-the-box field-point accuracy. However, the biggest drawback was the lack of a practice tip included in the package. I believe having one would have eased the mind of some potential buyers, like myself, who prefer not to use broadheads on their first few shots in the field. Despite this issue, the price was right for the bundle of three, and the savings compared to other brands made it all worth it.

šŸ”—Rugged 3-Inch Cutting Diameter Broadhead for Hunting Accuracy and Performance

https://preview.redd.it/qlr18jy1bsuc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89a93a645c583d406ba81dd3387bf7b5d1d485cf
The Spitfire XXX broadhead was a game changer in my hunting experience. The simplicity and ruggedness of the design made it stand out, perfect for even the toughest big game animals. I was impressed by how the blades never opened in flight, ensuring a clean shot and maximum accuracy. It was incredibly sharp, with the Trophy Tip point design offering bone-shattering toughness that bowhunters demand.
One downside I encountered was with the 3 blade design. While it worked well with internal spring clips to hold the blades closed and had no need for O-rings or rubber bands, I found that in one instance, only one blade opened after the shot. This was a minor issue, but it was still a letdown after the otherwise solid performance.
Despite this mishap, my experience with the Spitfire XXX broadhead was largely positive. It was a reliable and accurate choice for all hunting conditions, and the ultra-high speed compatibility made it a versatile option for both bows and crossbows. The massive 2-inch cutting diameter, combined with deep penetration and the blades' razor-sharp edges, meant quicker recoveries and a devastating impact on game.

When I first heard of Tooth of The Arrow's S-Series broadheads, I was intrigued by the rave reviews I kept reading online. I decided to give them a try and incorporate them into my hunting gear. The four-blade fixed design of these broadheads felt sturdy in my hand, assuring me of their durability and sharpness.
On my first hunting trip, I opted for the 45-degree cutting angle. From the moment I shot my arrow, I could tell that my choice was spot on as the TOTA broadhead sliced through the air with remarkable precision. The 1-inch diameter cutting diameter provided an optimal balance between penetration and tissue damage, allowing me to make clean and fast kills on the deer I encountered.
One of the most impressive features of the TOTA S-Series was the chisel point design, which made penetration smooth and efficient even when entering dense bone structures. The black oxide plating added an extra layer of durability and resistance to wear and tear.
However, I must admit that the weight of the broadhead was fairly noticeable on my lightweight crossbow. This might be a factor to consider for those who prefer a more agile setup, as the added mass could slightly affect the arrow's flight.
In conclusion, the Tooth of the Arrow S-Series broadheads have proven to be a reliable and efficient option in my hunting experience. Their sturdy construction, balanced cutting diameter, and the smooth chisel point design make them a top choice for any hunter seeking high-quality broadheads. Despite the slightly noticeable weight, the benefits they offer are well worth it in my book.

Recently, I came across the Cold Steel Cheap Shot Bone Saw Broadheads, and I decided to give them a shot in my hunting adventures. As an experienced hunter, I always look for quality products to assist me in my quest for the perfect game. These broadheads stood out to me because of their affordable price tag and promised durability.
Upon receiving the package, I was surprised by how lightweight they were. The broadheads are made of a combination of polymer and stainless steel, which not only adds to their affordability but also makes them great for beginners.
I took these Cold Steel broadheads on a few hunting trips, and I must say, they were a game-changer. The 3" overall size allowed for a more precise shot, and the plain edge provided a fantastic cutting surface. Additionally, the clam pack made it easy to store and transport them.
Although these broadheads did the job just fine, they weren't perfect. I noticed that the stainless steel construction made them more prone to rust over time, especially when exposed to harsh weather conditions. I also felt that the 125-grain weight might not be ideal for all types of game, so I would prefer a heavier option for larger animals.
In conclusion, the Cold Steel Cheap Shot Bone Saw Broadheads are a viable option for hunters looking for affordable yet functional broadheads. While they may not have the most advanced technology, they get the job done efficiently. The affordability, combined with the ease of use and storage, make them a solid choice for those just starting their hunting journey.

When I first heard about the Flying Arrow Pharmakon broadhead, I was intrigued by its patented coring technology and the promise of devastating performance. As an avid archer, I decided to give it a try in my latest hunting expedition.
The 3-blade low profile design caught my eye as it's perfect for my bow and the 7/8" cutting diameter seemed like just the right size for the kind of game I was targeting. The interchangeable blades were a game-changer, as it allowed me to switch and customize my broadhead to suit different scenarios.
However, I did encounter a few challenges along the way. The broadhead was a bit heavier than I expected, which made it difficult to fine-tune my bow. Additionally, I found the solid lock blades to be a bit tricky to change during the hunt, which caused some frustration.
In conclusion, the Flying Arrow Pharmakon broadhead is a reliable and devastating tool for any archer. While it has some minor drawbacks, its patented coring technology and interchangeable blades make it a versatile choice that's worth considering for your next hunting expedition.

Buyer's Guide

Blunt point broadheads are a popular choice for hunters due to their ability to penetrate deep while causing less tissue damage. They are ideal for big game hunting where a greater amount of blood is needed to track a wounded animal. However, choosing the right blunt point broadhead can be a daunting task with various factors to consider. This buyer's guide will provide essential information and advice on selecting the perfect blunt point broadhead for your hunting needs.

https://preview.redd.it/lqn6lbg6bsuc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6fe3aaf03faabb24233b61b7105af9e54c00a91c

Material

Blunt point broadheads are typically made from steel or aluminum. While both materials are strong and durable, steel broadheads are more susceptible to being damaged upon impact. Aluminum broadheads are often lighter and more resistant to damage, but they may not penetrate as deeply. Consider the game you'll be hunting and choose the material based on the needs of that specific hunting scenario.

Type

There are two primary types of blunt point broadheads: fixed and removable. Fixed-blade broadheads are secured in place with a solid connection, making them more reliable during hunting scenarios. However, fixing the blades may necessitate purchasing a specialty tool or utilizing a hydraulic press. Removable-blade broadheads, on the other hand, offer convenience and customization, allowing hunters to swap out blades as needed. Choose either type based on your desired ease of blade replacement and reliability during hunting scenarios.

Size

Blunt point broadhead sizes range from 1.25 inches to 2 inches. Larger broadheads tend to penetrate deeper but may affect accuracy, especially at longer distances. A larger broadhead also typically requires a bow with more draw weight. Consider your bow and the game you'll be hunting when selecting the optimal broadhead size.

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics play a critical role in the accuracy and effectiveness of blunt point broadheads. Broadheads with aerodynamic fins or vane systems may provide greater accuracy by stabilizing the broadhead during its flight. However, these additions can also increase the overall weight of the broadhead, which may need to be accounted for when selecting a suitable arrows and bow combination.

Changing Your Mind

Sometimes, hunters may switch between different broadheads for various purposes. To make this process easier, consider purchasing a broadhead quiver that can accommodate multiple types of broadheads quickly. This decision will expedite the process of switching between different broadheads with ease.
Selecting the right blunt point broadhead requires taking into account several factors, including material, type, size, aerodynamics, and the ease of changing broadheads. By considering these aspects, hunters can ensure they choose a blunt point broadhead that will provide the best results in their specific hunting scenarios. Remember to always check with local hunting regulations for any restrictions on the use of blunt point broadheads, and ensure that safety is your top priority when using any hunting implement.

FAQ

  1. What are blunt point broadheads designed for?
Blunt point broadheads are designed for hunting and archery enthusiasts who prefer a lower-risk shot. Unlike traditional fixed-blade broadheads with sharp tips, blunt point broadheads have rounded tips that are less likely to over-penetrate the target, making them safer for hunting in densely populated areas where there is a higher risk of hitting a non-target object or even people.
  1. What materials are blunt point broadheads commonly made of?
Blunt point broadheads are typically made from materials such as high-carbon steel, stainless steel, or bronze. The material used may vary depending on the manufacturer and the specific model of the broadhead being offered. These materials provide durability and accuracy, ensuring the broadhead performs well and maintains its edge during use.
  1. Are blunt point broadheads as effective as traditional fixed-blade broadheads?
The effectiveness of a blunt point broadhead can be subjective, as it depends on the individual's hunting style and specific hunting application. While blunt point broadheads have a lower risk of over-penetration, they may not have the same stopping power as traditional fixed-blade broadheads. However, they can still be very effective at disabling an animal and ensuring a clean, humane kill. It's essential to choose the appropriate broadhead type and model for the specific hunting situation and personal preferences.
  1. Can I use a blunt point broadhead for deer hunting?
Yes, you can use a blunt point broadhead for deer hunting in areas where there is a higher risk of over-penetration. While most blunt point broadhead models are designed for large game, they can still effectively and humanely dispatch a deer for the table. Always follow your state's hunting regulations and ensure you have the appropriate permission and safety precautions in place.
  1. Are blunt point broadheads more expensive than traditional fixed-blade broadheads?
Blunt point broadheads can be somewhat more expensive than traditional fixed-blade broadheads due to the unique design and materials used in their construction. However, the difference in cost is typically minimal, and the safety benefits of using a blunt point broadhead may justify the added expense for some hunters.

2024.04.16 02:19 rightbythebeach Organic cotton rugs that arenā€™t plain white?

I am looking for an organic cotton rug for my 10mo sonā€™s playroom and Iā€™ve been looking at the options on Hook & Loomā€™s website, but I am not thrilled about the idea of buying a white rug that could easily get stained, and I would love some color!
I like H&L because they dont spray any fire retardants or use any chemicals that offgas which is really important to me.
I was originally considering one of their wool rugs but Im concerned about shedding since I have a crawling baby.
Does anything else like this exist out there? I am finding a lot of pretty cotton rugs online, but they donā€™t state anything about fire retardants or what kind of glue/backing/dyes they use and if they are nontoxic.
Thanks for the help!
