2024.05.14 21:39 Eazy_T_1972 Confession time
So I have to confess, sorry.
I knew the minute I saw 1999 video back 83 (ish) seeing a Dr on the keyboard, two super 🔥 women seductively also playing keyboard and this cool lad in lace and heels singing I knew this was for me
I was probably 10-11 yrs old.
I knew when I saw Purple Rain on VHS in 85 and saw the powder, paint and performance I felt this was TOTALLY my thing .. (Apollonia in Lake Minnetonka did me NO harm either)
Then every album, the psychedelic beauty of around the world in a day, the Parisian decadence of Parade, the grandness and audacity of Sign o the Times , the mystery of the Black Album, the beauty and horny LoveSexy
Then ... Batman I really liked, as I did the film.
1990 Prince was my FIRST gig Wembley Arena London (I saw INXS soon after)
By now I'm 17/18 , it's rave culture in England and times were a changing
I hated Graffiti Bridge seemed like Purple Rain II but without ANY of the wow or charm.
Diamonds and Pearls had moments, the hits were great (and one night I picked up a hot blonde from the club and we fucked to Gett Off, Prince would have approved she REALLY was a little red Corvette)
Suddenly I was out of touch with this man whose lyrics taught me about love, lusting, fucking and heartbreak
I was growing up and growing out.
The revolution was long gone, so it seemed was the sound of my taste.
Sexy MF seemed like he was trying too hard and I really hated My Names is Prince
All that Slave stuff did nothing for me.
There were moments again, but they were brief.
My 80s love for Prince (and the Revolution) was SO huge that I suppose it had to burn out, a mate of mine said same you could NEVER sustain that output and the nostalgia and the sound sit hand in hand
Eveey time a review said his best album in 30 years I sheeled out hoping to recreate them times and feelings, it never did, I list 3121 as an example at hand.
So please don't hate me, I sobbed buckets when he died.
In the 1980s I had all the vinyl, the US imports in the London record shops , I have recently shelled out huge money on the 1999 and Sign OTimes box sets , worth every penny.
But my love for Prince may only be momemty in his musical career but my god it was never bettered.

2024.05.09 12:16 not-posting-anything Been watching too much DDE lately, so I decided to turn some of my street cars into street-legal race cars with the real-life race bodykits and go crazy with some others.
| 1-2: My Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4, with a body kit based on the Super Trofeo Evo2 but with the stock lights. I made my own custom livery, mixing in a bit of STO with the Super Trofeo. 3-4: My Chevy Corvette C8 Stingray with a body kit based on the early Z06 GT3.R, with a custom livery similar to the original C8.R but finished in the road car's Rapid Blue. 5-6: An Audi R8 V10 performance with the original LMS bodykit and the GT2 roof scoop, with a livery inspired by the Audi S1 Quattro rally car. I managed to make it work with the lines of the R8. The second-gen R8 is the better choice for making a race car out of. The first gen's LMS ultra kit has weird fog lights and a funky wing. 7-8: The Big M8, obviously with a body kit based on the BMW M8 GTE but with a livery inspired by Porsche's Pink Pig. 9-10 (My favorite): My Nissan GT-R (R35). I did a midnight blue base so I could draw up a godzilla in the night. My original plan was for it to be terrorizing the streets of Los Angeles, but there wasn't enough vinyl space to make that look good. The slightly lighter blue 3D godzilla by itself with the Liberty Walk decals to match the kit looks good enough. I did enjoy the GT-R with the stock rear spoiler it had been missing for years until recently, but this is just plain cool. Not for sale or trade. 11-12: My Porsche 993 Carrera S. I said I wasn't going to do the RWB kit because I wanted to be different, and initially I didn't. The GT2 kit available, however, only has the flares and the wing also used in some RWB cars. It still has the ugly US-spec bumpers with the black bumperettes on them from the Carrera. I decided to paint the car Rubystone Red, which is a factory Porsche color that some could argue is more of a hot pink. submitted by not-posting-anything to CarParkingMultiplayer [link] [comments] |
2024.05.02 22:09 QuillAndTrowel Spilled the Tea
The waitress apologized. “I’m so very sorry,” she said with her brow wrinkled and her mouth pursed. “I didn’t mean to spill the tea.”
“Well, you shouldn’t have said anything then!” I snapped back at her.
“I didn’t know she was your wife. I didn’t mean nothing by it.”
“Well, that don’t matter now, does it.” I watched the man open the passenger door of the yellow Corvette and help my wife in. The puddle crept to the edge of the table, and the ice cubes sliding off of the vinyl seat made a noise like a cuckoo bird as they landed on the linoleum floor. “Just get me another one, no ice.”
“Tea?”
“Yes! Just get more tea.”
She sat the stack of tea towels on the table and walked back to the drink machines.
“You know what. Forget it. I don’t want anything else. Just get me out of here!” I walked to the counter and watched the yellow Vette lay down a strip of rubber over the double yellow lines. I walked out of the diner and looked for my Focus in the parking lot.
“You forgot your hat!” the waitress shouted at me.
“It’s not my hat! It’s HIS damned hat! Guess he left it in my closet after he stopped by my wife last week! Besides THAT’S not even a hat anymore, that’s a dishrag sopped in iced tea!”
She looked at the grey hat with the brown stains on the brim. “Well what is a hat but that without the tea?”

2024.04.22 11:55 Eazy_T_1972 Here's my Prince story
*** I hope he would be proud of this ***
I was born in 1972.
So my FIRST prince memory was seeing the video to 1999 probably about 83 on a MTV equivalent
I was blown away by the coolness of the Revolution, him in silks, lace, Dez with the bandana, Fink in the Scrubs ....and then as a 10 year old seeing a very sexy Lisa and Jill holding hands in underwear on the keys.
Wow
Move forward a bit, 84 my mate played Purple Rain album and we did air guitar to Let's Go Crazy ....I knew then I had to play an instrument
I picked up the bass.
A lovely affair started with Price and the Revolution that was to run years yet.
I loved Around the Word in a Day , Parade and Sign of the Times ... Then I met my first REAL love Karen Watts and I would get the 181 bus from Chatham to Park Wood and have Lovesexy on my walkman on repeat. That album reminds me of being young, hopefully and very horny haha
1990 I started working and at a club on night met this stunner we went back to mine I fling MTV on in the back ground and Get Off came on and we went OFF !! That was my cue ...
Not sure on 23 positions BUT a hot one night stand certainly.
I will be honest in the 90s my tastes changed Hip Hop, Britpop, Massive Attack etc BUT I still have a huge affection for those times and the vinyl
I would go to London and find the RARE imports on vinyl
His lyrics to songs REALLY helped me get through heartache, sex and rejection.
Songs like Automatic, The Beautiful Ones, Little Red Corvette , When you were mine made me realise love/obsession can have you on your knees.... however songs like Let's Pretend We're married, Lady Cab Driver also made me realise their is nothing wrong with just wanting to f**k either.
His is the only celebrity passing that made me cry, cry and cry some more.
Thank you Prince for both the music, the education, making me pick up a bass and helping me through the "tough times"

Looking for any advice regarding cleaning the interior and exterior (I just ordered the gm plastic, vinyl and leather cleaner) as well as any maintenance to watch out for or that I can get ahead of. Im also looking to get into the track but that’s pretty far out for now. Thanks in advance! Super excited to get back into a Corvette! submitted by Defiant_Ad7678 to Corvette [link] [comments] |
2024.03.02 15:09 Wide_Ambition_5691 [DISCUSSION & CONCEPT] Undercover, but done right.
So, a little while ago I made a concept of a remake of Need for Speed: The Run. I actually had a lot more fun making it then I'd thought I would've and decided to do another one!
Now I’ve actually already posted this before, but I’ve actually gone ahead and discarded it as I had a multitude of ideas that came to me after posting it, and I wanted to make a more thought out and finished version of that.
Need for Speed: Undercover isn't the most well received game, because of how rushed it was. In the exact same fashion as with The Run, EA had rushed Black Box beyond reason, and released what many describe as
the single most broken and unfinished Need for Speed game. Which is exactly why out of all the NFS games,
this one is most deserving of a top-down remake. What I did like about this game is its story, however with how rushed it was, there wasn't a whole lot of depth to it and contained some major holes here and there. I'd love to see a much more fleshed out version of Undercover's story possibly revisited in a future NFS game. An abridged version of the story in the game is as follows:
- You’re an undercover cop who’s seeking to find a missing shipment of cars stolen from the Palm Harbor docks a few weeks ago.
- You go undercover to infiltrate a network of street racing gangs and networks. Climbing up the ranks to gather evidence on who’s stealing the car shipments and why
- We find out that Chase Linh had orchestrated this entire operation for her own means: using us to get herself close to an important device (a commenter said that this was probably a substitute for drugs to for the teen rating, but the story kinda fails at portraying it that way)
- She kills Wu and tries to frame us for his murder, but we chase her and take her down. The game ends with the police chief confiscating the device that Wu was attempting to smuggle out of the country (through STOLEN car shipments???, why??? Wouldn’t it have been easier to smuggle this little Nokia thing in literally any other way???)
It feels like there was definitely supposed to be much more in this story (especially towards the end with the unexplained device apparently being super important), and another commenter said that there were actually plans to have personal choices in the game that would affect the story line. I feel a do-over would allow for this story to be much more completed, complex, and exciting, and the inclusion of choices would definitely help with the game’s replay value.
I actually didn’t really mind Undercover as much as some others have here. In fact what I’d like to say that Undercover did the best out of all the NFS games (in my opinion), was its atmosphere. I don't know what exactly BB did differently here, but the vibe and concept of being an undercover cop just sort of… ticked a box for me that the other games just haven’t for some reason.
And don’t even get me started on the music tying it all together (recommend you have a listen if you’ve never heard it before now). There was so much potential in the concept and ideas of the game, just poor execution.
I hope that I can at least convince some of you of the potential of an Undercover-themed game, but done right! Take it as a sort of mulligan. How would you feel if EA decided to greenlight a remake of this game in the following fashion?

Tier system
Upon buying a car for the first time, you will receive the
stock version of that car.
- If you wish to participate in events/story missions. You will have to buy a package for that car.
- Street cars = Street Package
- Pro cars = Pro Package
- Dirt cars = Dirt Package
- And so on
- *Note: in some special cases, like the Subaru WRX STI or the Chevrolet Avalanche, a car will have the option to select between either a dirt package or its standard package.
- Buying a package will then allow you to install performance parts, customize your car, and participate in events with said car
- Each event/story mission will require a certain car type, in order to participate.
- For example, a “street tier” sprint race would require you to own a car with the “Street Package” installed, to participate in the event.
- All performance parts come in 3 levels
- You will slowly unlock the higher levels as you progress through the story
- Level 1 parts unlocked at the start of the game
- Level 2 parts unlocked at the start of State Park
- Level 3 parts unlocked at the start of Palm Harbor
- Performance parts are as follows:
- Engine
- Forced Induction

- Forced Induction - Low RPM/High RPM
- Suspension - Stiff/Soft
- Differential - Not a slider like the others (Welded/Open/Limited Slip/Locked)
- Brakes - Front/Rear
- Nitrous - Strength/Duration
Customization

Comprehensive and immersive pursuit system
Police behavior in the open world
- Police will begin to patrol in areas around passed toll booths and triggered speed cameras
- Sometimes highway patrol will be clocking traffic’s speed
- Such as being parked up behind billboards, underneath bridges (etc.)
- Realistic police scanner
- Police sound more natural- less scripted and robotic sounding
- Police will be out and about responding to regular calls
- Your heat level naturally rises as you do dangerous driving
- Destruction of property
- Hit and run
- Triggering speed cameras
- Smashing toll booths
- Blowing through red lights
- Your heat level will slowly rise upon minor disturbances. The dispatcher will receive calls of a disturbance from your location, and send units your way.
- Revving your engine near residential areas
- Doing donuts in parking lots/intersections
- Blocking NPC traffic
- Cars have their own heat levels that diminish with time or by changing its appearance
- Every car starts at 0 heat, regardless if it’s an Altima or a Bugatti
- However, higher tier cars naturally have a faster heat-gain rate
- The current car’s heat level is reset upon being busted
- Driving a less conspicuous vehicle can actually help you!
- Driving something like an economy sedan will attract less attention from the police, and actually has a slower heat-gain rate (can be up to -25%).
- The opposite applies to flashy/more exotic/rare cars (heat-gain rate up to +25%).
- The dispatcher will give more generic or more specific descriptions based on the car you are driving.
- Examples:
- (When driving a Lincoln MKS with little visual upgrades) Dispatch - “Caller described the suspect as driving a luxury sedan, black in color. Uh, hang on- trying to get you more details, standby.”
- (When driving a Pagani Huayra) Dispatch - “Suspect is driving a red Pagani.”
- Cars with more visual attachments or damage will attract more attention (up to +10%)
- Example: (Driving a damaged Toyota Camry (XV40) with a lot of visual upgrades) Dispatch - “Caller said the suspect was driving a heavily modified sedan. Described it as being pretty scratched up, said you can’t miss it.”
- Flashier colors also attract more attention (up to +20%)
- Only for very certain colors such as bright pink, purple, or gold etc.
- Example: (When driving a bright pink Honda Civic) Dispatch - “Attention all units in Port Crescent, we’re getting multiple calls of a reckless driver in the area. I’m gonna need you to be on the lookout for a bright pink hatchback.”
- Over 150 pursuit breakers across the map
- Pursuit breaker cutscenes: ON/OFF
- 100 different cool down locations across the map
- Longer, more destructive, and higher heat level pursuits bring in larger amounts of wheelman rep
Heat Levels:
Click for concept art (AI generated)
- Heat level 1 - Civic Units: Ford Taurus Police Interceptor
- Will likely ignore you when you blast past them (20% chance of pursuit)
- Will always chase upon a hit and run (whether against civilians or themselves)
- These cruisers are pretty slow and the officers operating them have civic training, so either driving quickly or doing some quick maneuvers will shake them pretty easily
- 30 sec cooldown
- When busted you will pay a traffic ticket, 0 strikes will be given
- Heat level 2 - Highway Patrol: Dodge Charger / Ford F-150 Raptor (Offroad units)
- Less inclined to ignore you driving illegally (40% chance of pursuit)
- Offroad units will be called in if you leave the road to try and shake pursuiters.
- Roadblocks introduced
- Some units will recognize your car based on priors (10% chance)
- Example: “Uh, dispatch I got a 10-37 matching the description of that reckless driver. I’m gonna light him up and see what he does.”
- If you comply and pull over, you will pay a fine and receive no strike.
- If you flee, the pursuit will begin.
- These Chargers are fast, but heavy and have a poor turning circle.
- You can lose them if you flee to the twisting, curvy roads of the mountains
- 60 sec cooldown
- 1 strike if busted
- Heat level 3 - State Patrol: Cadillac ATS-V / Ford F-150 Raptor (Offroad units)
- State Troopers will always chase upon seeing dangerous driving.
- If you drive normally, you can drive past patrol cars undetected
- While driving normally, some units will become suspicious and begin following you due to previous reports of your car. They will observe you looking for dangerous behavior, and may begin a pursuit or lose interest.
- K9 Units (Cadillac Escalade) are introduced as roadblock units
- These do not give chase at this level
- Cadillacs (*ATS-V) are fast, but less capable at cornering.
- State Troopers will attempt to swarm you to slow you down, and then box you in
- 90 sec cooldown
- 1 strike if busted
- Heat level 4 - Federal Units: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C7) / Ford F-150 Raptor (Offroad units) / Cadillac Escalade (K9 units)
- A warrant for your vehicle has been issued and police will always chase you on sight
- Advanced police tactics are introduced such as spike strips
- Spike strips introduced in road blocks
- K9 Units will now give chase
- Corvette’s are agile and quick, but easy to spin out.
- K9 units are heavy, but slow.
- They have a lot of mass, which in turns means they also have a lot of inertia meaning two things:
- Their main weakness is their high center of mass, and they can be flipped easily if hit in the right places.
- 120 sec cooldown
- 1 strike if busted
- Heat level 5 - VRT: Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991) / Ford F-150 Raptor (Offroad units) / Cadillac Escalade (K9 units)
- Will immediately chase on sight
- Most advanced police AI
- Aerial support is introduced
- Will run out of fuel after 7 minutes and leave the pursuit
- 5 minute grace period before another helicopter joins the pursuit
- GT2 units are fast, agile, but fragile.
- 180 sec cooldown
- 2 strikes if busted
Return of the impound system
- 3 strikes
- No strikes are given on Heat Level 1, just pay your traffic ticket
- 2 strikes given when busted at Heat Level 5
- If you cannot afford to pay the fine:
- Heat level 1: 1 strike is given
- Heat level 2: 2 strikes are given
- Heat level 3: 2 strikes are given
- Heat level 4: Car impounded
- Heat level 5: Car impounded
- On Extreme Difficulty, being busted will automatically impound your car at every heat level (yes even level 1).
- Complying when you have the option to, will only net you a strike.
- Game over if every vehicle you own is impounded, and you lack the money to afford the cheapest vehicle in the game.
Police codes
- 10-04 - acknowledged
- 10-20 - location, can be shortened to “your 20”
- 10-21 - brake check
- 10-23 - fleeing suspect/subject of interest
- 10-26 - engaging in a pursuit
- 10-33 - pit maneuver
- 10-37 - potential suspect spotted/suspicious person of interest
- 10-51/52 - unit down
- 10-57 - hit and run
- 10-68 - requesting additional units
- 10-81 - requesting aerial unit
- 10-88 - road block
- 10-98 - rolling road block
- 11-42 - K9 units en route
- 16-22 - spike strips
- S-P - box in the suspect
Wheelman rep
- 100 levels
- Gain reputation in order to unlock story missions through free-driving stunts, pursuits, or events

2024.02.08 02:36 fuppy-wuppy Looking for info on a 1969 L88
| Hey guys! I need help finding a specific car. Below I will list info on the car. If anyone has any leads or info on the car, let me know! - 1969 Convertible Corvette L88

I have some listing from the 90s in Vette Vues (attached). Yes, I have called the guy from the add but it didn’t help much. I cannot find ANY record of the car and it is not in the C3 Registry. Any info is appreciated! Thank you! submitted by fuppy-wuppy to Corvette [link] [comments] |
2024.02.04 20:59 JustViggo64 Working on Corvette GT3.R
| Finished the Daytona 24 Pratt & Miller #3 and #4 Corvette GT3.R liveries for the Corvette C8 Stingray and currently working on the AWA cars (last pic) once I have them all finished I’ll replace the downloaded vinyls with custom made ones so I can share them. 2024.01.27 05:59 GabbaGoon What is going on with the wrap?
| I had the roof and halo wrapped in gloss black with avery film on my corvette last year around September. Its garage kept, and isn't outside that much at all. Was wiping the dust off of it and noticed this tonight. It was not there 2 days ago. It has been cold here, but I have no idea if vinyl moves at all in the cold. Is this something that is just going to happen, or being that it's under the year install warranty , be addressed by the installer? Thanks in advance submitted by GabbaGoon to CarWraps [link] [comments] |
2024.01.18 15:47 CookieMonsterFL [OFFICIAL] 2024 Rolex 24 @ Daytona - General Information + Camping & Meetup Thread
Hello all, welcome to the 2024 IMSA season! I'm here once again to bring you any extra info I know on the biggest race of the calendar - the Rolex 24 @ Daytona - specifically on attending the race live in-person!
This is a yearly repost that i've been doing for years to with help from your fellow redditors to give you as complete an FAQ on potential experiences as humanly possible. I'll be adding to it as anyone has any extra info that may be helpful, and as always will credit! 2022 proved to be FRIGID and gusty, with 2023 being much more mild and a little wet. 2022 saw lots of canopies and tents collapsed, and it was by far the harshest race I attended since Petit Le Mans in 2015. Fingers crossed we continue to get more favorable weather, but if you had to take anything away from 2022 or even 2017, keep an eye on the weather and temps and plan to dress accordingly!
I'm working through as many posts as I can find along with my own experience at the track to give you as complete a picture of what to expect at the track/experience altogether. Hear from fellow redditors on their advice and experience attending IMSA's biggest race of the year.
Putting this first, Daytona has their own reddit account: DISupdates. you should be able to get a response pretty quickly from them throughout the week.

First, Meetup this year:
I'm thinking we meet up at the campsite or before a race for a picture/converse for a bit. Will have some swag and stuff for sale/giveaway too at the campsite including subreddit vinyl stickers, racing shirts, flags, and other memorabilia. We will be infield T3-4. Just look for the /WEC flags and signage and loud music coming from the site most likely..
If a campsite meetup, i'll suggest Saturday before or during the race - should have limited warm food for people and will have a large screen with the race on and a campfire to warm you up. Hot chocolate too will pair with whatever adult beverage you can think of..
If a pre-race meetup, i'd suggest Pilot Sport Challenge race. That may be a bit more tough as few like to show up to that, but throwing both out there.
2024 Specifically: Rain is expected, weather seems to be more on the mild side but keep it tuned to local forecasts for any and all updates
- 2023 Weather: Had some light rain and breezy, but otherwise a very mild weekend. Sunday ended up being warm enough to hit our group with sunburns. Typical Rolex 24 weather; changes every year.
- 2022 Weather: Weather is going to get chilly Friday through Sunday morning. Lows nearing or below freezing in relative temps. Daytona is notorious for wind coming off the Atlantic and even on good days you usually get a decent breeze. I expect the chilly weather to bring in some strong winds at times. This combined with high humidity makes wind chill way more of a factor; you WILL get cold. Forecast also calls for rain Thursday and parts of Friday so things will be damp leading into the cold snap. If camping, keep your clothes and extra blankets not used in the car staying dry. Swap out halfway through the weekend and hang the blankets to dry and air out for reuse. Keeping things dry is extra important. Bring rain-gear. Bring cold-weather gear. Also, plan for warm-meals or ways to get them - snacks are great, but a hot meal will feel invigorating especially on Saturday night.
- Full field of cars on the entry list. Being this crowded on track can potentially result in a few full course yellows. Don't be surprised to see quite a few hours of the race under caution. If in the infield, be mindful of safety vehicles as they tow or carry cars back to the paddock. Have seen a few awkward moments last few years with people not realizing the use of race-related vehicles on those roads.
- COVID Protocols: Daytona are going to go with the same lite-COVID protocols in terms of entry - I doubt they may but they could ask if you've been in contact with anyone in 14 days with COVID, traveled, etc. No other requirements or statements i've seen beyond business as usual.
General pointers/tips/hints from redditors:
On bringing folding chairs to the race itself:
Bringing folding chairs isn’t really worth it at Daytona. - 4-for-4
There are bleachers alongside the exit of the international horseshoe and down in the western horseshoe. - cwhisler
On parking at the track:
Daytona is the one track I've been to where they can be (jerks) and are strict about rules.... WGI is like a free for all once inside and nobody will ever say a word to you... Daytona is not like that... They will tow your car if parked wrong, they will deny you entry without a blink of the eye if you have an illegal item in the stands... They don't play - Pirate-Odd
I always park in T4. It's an easy walk from the infield to get out there and it is also easy access to the grandstands. I've done infield parking multiple times before but the ease of getting in/out of the T4 parking is far more beneficial to me. I missed the race this year for the first time in almost 10 years, but in 2020 they were charging to park across the street as well. That's a walk that is not even worth considering if you want to go back to the car for refills on food/drinks - jesseshoots
There is preferred parking right at the tunnel trams, it's pricy, but you'll find a spot. Also get there early, we almost missed the start this year because of jow long it took us to get into the track to part at turn 3. - HarringtonMAH11
2024: Lot4 Parking Sold out early in the year, markups are already a thing for this, mall/overflow parking is now the way to go if you don't already have a plan. 2023: Parking for lot 4 sold out last month, if you do not have a place to park, DIS has said they will be opening up an overflow lot somewhere. There is also talk of the NASCAR admin center's parking area being used as overflow. Will update closer to the race with more info on where to park if you do not already have a pass.
Just a heads up. Used to be a massive parking lot behind Bass Pro (Daytona One). Most of it is fenced in construction for a Costco. Some of the lot is still there but it’s a quarter of what was. - isthisf1
On nearby stores for resupplying the campsite/RV:
There is a walmart nearby plus a bass pro shop across the street of the track. - IndecisiveRock
There is preferred parking right at the tunnel trams, it's pricy, but you'll find a spot. Also get there early, we almost missed the start this year because of jow long it took us to get into the track to part at turn 3. - InvisibleTeeth
Weather:
Prepare for all 4 seasons. It's been warm and sunny and it's also been rainy and 33F. Everyone always thinks Florida is warm, but the Rolex is always a crapshoot. - info2x
Bring a good rain coat and an extra pair of socks. I think the weather at the 2017 and 2019 Rolex 24s are going to be in the memories of those who went for some time. - JA_37_Viggen
I’ve done full overnight with minimal gear, and quite frankly, was miserable. Something about 45 degrees in that part of Florida being the coldest 45 degrees I have ever experienced. I think you would have fun alone, but i would have a plan to be able to retreat to your car and catch a few Z's. Make use of the golf carts to get you around, it's sort of like Uber at the track, just remember, drivers rely on tips to make money. You can cover a lot of ground with them. - SqueakyCleany
Best Viewing Spots/Times:
Lots to do before the race. Manufacturers tents for free swag, grid walk and there will be cars on the track leading up to race. Good paddock access with a pass and you can be right outside the garages. - sandyman15
A must see is getting up early and watching the sunrise from the top of the grandstands, It is amazing. The fire works are pretty good and you must take a ride on the ferris wheel while the race is going on. - greggruver96
You have time to watch from everywhere that you may want to watch from. I opted to not sleep for the first one I went to. I won’t do that again but to each their own. Watching race start from the stands isn’t abnormal because you can sit down by turn 1 and get a great view of the field through the infield. There are a handful of bleachers in the infield but otherwise not a lot of seating... I really like the view in the middle of the night from the absolute top of the grandstands. Super cool to see the whole track at once with all the lights. - Zowwiewowwie
Bring a backpack and just use that. Also keep in mind they may limit what you can bring inside the main front stretch grandstands so get familiar with the track rules on their website and adhere to them. - Pirate-Odd
Upper deck grandstands near Turn 1 (end of the pits) is my favorite place to watch the start and all of Sunday. You can see the entire track unobstructed, have a TV, and scoring tower right in front of you. Plus covered area with bathrooms and concessions in case the weather sucks. - BillyG8r
If you’re in the grandstands, right where the cars brake and start the infield portion of the course is a great area to watch. You can also watch them exit the infield and start onto the banks from the same spot. The infield has great bleachers and fences you can stand near. Pretty much anywhere along the infield is a good spot to watch. Also there is so much to do, simply exploring the grandstands and all the exhibits can take hours. But there are usually manufacturer tents that display cars and hand out shirts and posters. The grid walk is also insane so don’t miss that before the race. - declanwigand
I’ve flown down and camped before. But that’s been renting a van or SUV, throwing an inflatable mattress pad in the back and sleeping in a sleeping bag. There are compact tents you can fit in a suitcase too, if you’d rather go that route. Then you can pick up the little things you’d need from a local Walmart or the target across the street. - [deleted]
If you see anyone sitting in a golf cart along the fence of the turn 3 (international horseshoe) brake zone it's worth asking if the mind if you stand on the back of their cart for a couple of minutes to get some shots. Most people are pretty nice; I know I've let people do it in the past in exchange for them sending me a couple of shots of my favorite car. You should be able to get a clear shot over the fence as the cars brake/downshift going into 3. At night you can get some awesome photos with the ferris wheel lit up in the background. - ApexDavidP

Daytona's Strict Pass Policy:
- >After finishing my corner working last shift, I decided to join my friends in the grandstand. They wouldn’t let me in the grandstand because of “go anywhere” pass from working corners didn’t say grandstand. - SqueakyCleany
[[IMPORTANT grandstand will restrict heavily what you bring in and if you are camping you will have to leave it at the exit area near the entrance to the escalators. Had to leave my umbrella there and lost it two years ago when it was soggy all weekend. A pain in the butt if you don't know.]]
General Advice:
Ludicrous_Speed's AMA for Rolex 24
Don't knock the MX-5 race on Thursday either. The MX5 race is probably the best one of the weekend (all of the other races are fantastic too!) - allthingsvw
Get inside early on Saturday. Go to the Fanzone! Get the free poster and cut in line for all the autographs! - LocknDamn
Bring a sharpie to sign the track. Be prepared to walk. A lot. Like a lot a lot. Last time we went we missed the night races because we passed out from walking so much. - Whitetiger9876
I'll keep it short. If you intend to make it through the night, bring blankets, earmuffs, and a winter jacket. You're welcome:) Definitely worth it though! - dannytr1
Bring warm clothes for the night and morning. It's usually cold and always windy. - thecaveman1974
Good local Seafood: "Hull's Seafood in Ormond." - artificialstuff
Don't be a hero, the shuttle bus is your friend. That said, wear good shoes because you will be walking a lot. As others have said, be prepared for all sorts of weather - hot, cold, wet, wind, you'll see it during the 24 hours. Don't forget hearing protection - not everyone wears it, but it gets loud. - Moose135A
Uhaul advertises that Ford Transit vans for $19.95 per day. 2 people could easily fit in the back and if you all like each other you might fit 4! - BlackLabDumpster
- randyrandomagnum
Warm Clothing including a winter jacket, Rain Gear, Sunscreen, Ear plugs, a couple pairs of sneakers, fresh socks, cash, Auxiliary battery for phone. - Mallen010
Also just wander around. A lot of the manufacturers have tents/trailers where you can check out their cars and usually have shirts and stuff to give away. It’s a nice way to get free souvenirs. I’ve got quite a collection of Cadillac and Corvette shirts from there! Also, do some research in the days leading up to the race as many teams have meet and greet opportunities. Spending time in the garage is a must. - brewhawaii
CLEAR OUT A SPACE FOR THE WASTE TRUCK. Last Road Atlanta we almost had to move our entire campsite and cars to get the waste truck access to the RV. - CookieMonsterFL
Bring a step stool. Also, come by 304 in the west horseshoe. Ask for Eddie. We have a platform. fence will be in photos. - Eddie_Shark
The Daytona track wifi isn't good enough but I have streamed the race the last 3 years using my phone's hot spot on ATT. - Inflatable_Catfish
There's a shower trailer right in the campground, if you're cool with that. They got pretty gross and unkempt by Sunday, though...I camped there last year, and again this year, and I had no worries of safety at my campsite. Everyone around was nice. - 4G63Touareg
EAR PLUGS is a must. I wear mine even at night while the race is going on. - greggruver96
