2024.05.09 16:50 themarkboros Corporate complaint

Last night I had to send a complaint to corporate about my experience, which I wasn’t happy about since I’m a very frequent regular here; please let me know your thoughts on what I wrote:
Hello,
Tonight I visited the New Orleans, Louisiana location. I’m a frequent customer at this location, and come in weekly spending hundreds at the arcade.
I’m contacting you to express my extreme disappointment in my experience tonight, from both a game technician and member of the management staff.
I initially came in with 2 $100 giftcards I had purchased, and asked for the employee to enter my phone number so I’d get my bonus chips from my reward status. I did not ever end up being credited my extra 15%, even though I made a purchase of $250.
I decided to put that aside and start playing games with my brother who was in town for the week from college. (Keep in mind this was his first experience at Dave & Busters).
We were going as usual playing for a couple hours, and then my card suddenly stops working. I consult one of the female managers, and she tells me my card had been “Blocked”. I ask what she means, and she proceeds to say “You know how when casinos want you to leave because you’ve earnt too much?” to which I responded “I guess?” then she said “That’s what happened”.
I asked if my points and credits could just be transferred onto a new card, to which she told me no.
The card would work after manually inserting it into the machines after a while, but it was extremely difficult and made the experience unpleasant.
We decided to just let it go, and played the spongebob coin pusher.
The spongebob coin pusher usually jams the cards inside the machine; so we usually like to ask for a technician to get them out after we’re done with the machine. Over 20 cards were stuck inside the machine and we were finished, so we consulted the technician at the empty prize desk (next to the machine); and asked if he could send someone to it to open it.
He told me he’s busy even though he wasn’t doing anything, and to just wait over there. 10 minutes later I came up and asked if someone could help soon. He decided to yell at me and my brother, “I told you that I’m busy. It’s not my responsibility to HELP YOU because you are having problems. I don’t know what the **** you want me to do.”
This was absolutely outrageous and the rudest thing I’ve ever heard at any arcade, coming from someone who’s visited arcades his entire life and worked at arcades his entire life. The machine ended up stealing money from us and we weren’t able to get a resolution; to which we are extremely upset about.
I feel scammed out of $250, and have decided that I will not return to Dave & Busters as a long-time fan of the establishment. I will also be taking it upon myself to review the location and leave a report on the Better Business Bureau’s website. In the end we didn’t end up using our tickets and flat out left, because we felt uncomfortable even being near the disgruntled employee.
Please do better.

2024.05.06 23:15 dreamlightplumbob Hit by a Lyft driver on private property in Louisiana - now what?

I was hit by a Lyft driver over a month ago, in which the other driver side swiped me (he was 100% at fault and admitted to fault at the site of the incident to the police officer - however, it was on "private" casino property, and after not answering Lyft's adjuster's phone calls for over 2 weeks, he finally answered to dispute against me and decided I was at fault - lol). Lyft's insurance adjuster (State Farm) waited another 2 weeks to answer MY calls to tell me they had already come to a decision with only an initial statement from me and a statement from the other driver... No pictures, no follow up, nothing, and they decided it was my fault somehow? The adjuster agreed to "allow" me to send in photos for re-evaluation and to use as "evidence" so I sent in as much as I could but it's clearly a very slow process. The adjuster mentioned that the other driver's passenger isn't answering their inquiries to act as our witness. This is a crucial and very concerning piece to our case: the driver hit us during an active ride (idk what else it'd be called) and pulled over in front of us immediately following impact. I stayed in the car on the phone with 911 and my husband got out of our car to go check on the driver, and it turned out he had a passenger with him - the driver proceeded to practically throw his drivers license at my husband while promising to come back and then he drove off to go drop off his customer to the location and then he returned about 2 minutes before police arrived. I informed police of everything occurring as it happened but again, the private property factor kept us from having any real police report and the only "legal" backup we had was a citizens report that we had to file and write out ourselves - about as useful as a personal statement. My insurance isn't jumping to fight the other companies (the drivers personal insurance, All State, immediately backed out and claimed 0% involvement/responsibility to due the driver actively driving for Lyft at the time of the accident) and they are in a rush to just get my car fixed and make me pay the deductible which they claim I'll "possibly get back if I ever hear back from Lyft"... My insurance has previously filed claims that should've been comprehensive as collision, marked me at fault for accidents I was not at fault for, etc. (I'm so lucky to live in Louisiana, so if you know car insurance here, you know) so I'm not exactly wanting to just go along with whatever my insurance is wanting to do. I'm planning on not putting my car in the shop/paying the deductible just yet IF I can get my insurance to actually make an effort on my part but everything on Lyft's part is incredibly shady and slow. I just wanted to post here to see if anyone else had a similar experience in which the Lyft driver's insurance made decisions without any information and what you did next or anything similar to my experience at all that could be helpful.
(This is crossposted from Lyft as well because I wanted to see if people on that end of things may be able to help too!)
* I also am willing to provide lots more info if needed for clarification - this post is all over the place because I wrote it super quickly during a break at work.

2024.04.25 09:36 Ornella-D40 Accel Entertainment Acquired Louisiana Gambling Operator

Accel Entertainment Acquired Louisiana Gambling Operator
Accel Entertainment, a major player in the gaming and entertainment field, has recently disclosed its acquisition of a renowned gambling operator in Louisiana. This strategic decision is expected to significantly alter the gambling industry not only in Louisiana, but also in neighboring regions. In this article, we will examine the acquisition in detail, analyzing its specifics, strategic reasoning, and the implications it may have on both Accel Entertainment and the Louisiana gambling market.
Accel Entertainment and the Gambling Industry
Accel Entertainment, headquartered in the United States, has established itself as a major player in the video gaming industry, primarily focusing on operations in the Midwest. By providing gaming terminals to licensed establishments, Accel has garnered a solid reputation for its dependable gaming operations and innovative technology solutions in regulated markets.
Louisiana Gambling Market
Louisiana's gambling market is characterized by its diversity, with riverboat casinos, a single land-based casino in New Orleans, and several racinos (horse tracks with integrated casinos). This market is economically vital due to its significant contributions to the local economy and its allure as a tourist destination, making it a strategic location for expansion for companies such as Accel Entertainment.

Acquisition Details

Financial Aspects and Assets Involved
Accel Entertainment's acquisition of a Louisiana-based gambling operator has made a strategic move that involves a range of crucial assets for both parties. The terms of this acquisition include a well-structured agreement where Accel Entertainment has agreed to a combination of cash and stock transactions, which enables the company to manage its capital effectively while securing a strong presence in the Louisiana market. The assets that Accel has acquired mainly comprise multiple casino properties and gaming facilities situated in key locations throughout the state. These assets are vital because they provide immediate access to established markets and a substantial customer base, which can be further enhanced through Accel's advanced operational techniques.
Strategic Rationale
  • The acquisition of the Louisiana gambling operator by Accel Entertainment is driven by a multifaceted strategic rationale that aligns closely with the company's long-term growth objectives. By entering the Louisiana market, Accel can diversify its geographic presence and tap into one of the most thriving gambling ecosystems in the United States. The unique cultural and tourism landscapes of Louisiana provide an ideal environment for expanding Accel's innovative gaming solutions.
  • By integrating the local operator's assets, Accel not only broadens its operational scale but also enhances its ability to offer a more diverse gambling experience to customers. The strategic integration of these new assets is expected to drive increased revenue streams through cross-promotion and more efficient resource allocation. The decision to merge with a Louisiana operator comes at a time when the regulatory environment is increasingly favorable, suggesting potential for further expansion and less stringent operational hurdles in the future. This proactive approach ensures that Accel Entertainment remains at the forefront of the industry, ready to capitalize on emerging opportunities as they arise within this dynamic market.
  • This acquisition is not only about expanding Accel's asset base, but also about establishing a solid platform for future growth and sustainability in the competitive landscape of the gambling industry. The strategic foresight behind this move demonstrates Accel's commitment to enhancing shareholder value and securing a dominant position in the gambling sector.
    Impact on Accel Entertainment
The purchase of a Louisiana gambling operator is a strategic move that aligns with Accel Entertainment's broader plan for growth. Accel's primary objective is to expand its presence in significant and lucrative markets across the United States. By incorporating a well-established operator within the dynamic Louisiana market, Accel not only diversifies its geographic reach but also enhances its presence in a region known for its robust gambling industry. This strategic expansion is crucial as it provides Accel with a stronger base from which to potentially launch further expansions, both regionally and nationally.
Potential Synergies and Benefits from Integration
The integration of the Louisiana operator into Accel Entertainment's portfolio is expected to bring substantial synergies. A key advantage of this merger is the improvement of operational efficiencies. By utilizing Accel’s proprietary technology and advanced operational practices, the newly acquired assets can achieve greater profitability and enhance customer engagement through enhanced gaming experiences and services.
  • This acquisition enables the exchange of best practices between the two entities. The Louisiana operator's expertise and local knowledge will be crucial in customizing offerings to meet the specific preferences of the local market, thereby improving customer satisfaction and loyalty. Conversely, Accel’s strong managerial expertise and advanced analytics capabilities will ensure that operations in Louisiana can effectively scale, managing costs and optimizing revenue.
  • Another significant synergy from this acquisition is the potential for cross-promotional opportunities. Accel Entertainment can now provide its existing customer base with access to new and unique gaming experiences in Louisiana, thus boosting customer retention and attracting new patrons. Similarly, the established customer base of the Louisiana operator can be introduced to Accel’s diverse portfolio, enriching their gaming experience and expanding engagement.

Implications for the Louisiana Gambling Market

  1. Potential Effects on the Local Gambling Industry
The acquisition of a prominent Louisiana gambling operator by Accel Entertainment is poised to bring significant changes to the local gambling industry. By introducing a major player like Accel into this lively market, the dynamics within the sector are expected to shift, potentially leading to heightened competition and innovation. Accel Entertainment's reputation for utilizing cutting-edge technology and customer-focused strategies could establish new industry benchmarks, encouraging existing operators to enhance their service offerings and operational efficiencies to remain competitive.
Accel's entrance into Louisiana is likely to stimulate economic activity in the region. This could result in increased job opportunities as the company expands its operations, as well as higher tax revenues generated from increased business volumes. The broader economic impact could also benefit related sectors such as local hospitality and tourism, which often complement the gaming and gambling industry.
  1. Impact on Competition and Market Dynamics
Accel Entertainment's entry into Louisiana will intensify local gambling competition. Their strong portfolio and growth strategy will challenge existing operators, fostering innovation and enhancing customer experiences. This could drive technological advancements among competitors, raising service quality and market standards. Accel's presence may also influence regulatory practices towards more responsible gambling. Their entry promises transformative changes, innovation, and growth in Louisiana's gambling industry.

In conclusion

The acquisition of a Louisiana gambling operator by Accel Entertainment signifies a significant shift in the landscape of the gambling industry, both locally and for Accel as a corporation. This strategic move is poised to bolster Accel's market presence, expand its geographical reach, and introduce advanced gaming technologies to the Louisiana market. As Accel integrates its operations with the acquired assets, the potential for improved service quality and innovative gaming experiences is substantial, likely redefining customer engagement in the region. This acquisition is expected to fuel competition, drive economic benefits, and encourage a wave of technological adoption and regulatory evolution across Louisiana's gambling sector. In essence, this development not only signifies growth for Accel Entertainment but also represents a step towards a more competitive and dynamic market in Louisiana, promising a future rich with opportunities and advancements for all stakeholders involved.

2024.04.19 17:01 Hestmestarn 8 months ago I asked for some advice about a road trip going through AZ, here is how it went!

Hi everyone!
8 months ago I asked for some advice about a road trip going through AZ and since we got so much great feedback I thought you might wanna know how the trip ultimately went.
We did a few changes to the trip based on your suggestions
After driving here i have some questions:
WHY ARE YOUR HEADLIGHT SO BRIGHT?
Driving at night suuucks here, you get blinded all the time by oncoming traffic! At first I thought some of them just forgot their high beams on so I flashed them the first few times and a few did forget to be fair and turned theirs off, but I was not prepared when one of them turned on their actual high beams… I'm pretty sure I got an X-ray with that lmao.
WHY ARE THERE POTHOLES IN A 75MPH ROAD?
Looking at you i10…
A lot of very shitty roads had very high speed limits.
Speaking of speed, Is following the speed limit not a thing here?
Setting the cruise control to the speed limit seams to be a surefire way to get 15 trucks tailgating you haha
Some stats for the trip:
All in all we drove 3325 miles which took 71:05 h:m in 17 days averaging ~196 miles and 4h per day in driving.
We also hiked/walked 162km (100miles) over the course of the whole trip.
Here is the rough path that we drove
I'll say right away, the way we vacation isn’t something i would recommend for most people, we are basically always doing something from sunrise to sunset (and sometimes more than that) and we don't really prioritize proper meals or relaxing at all lol. There were multiple lunches/dinners that were either trail mix, bars or sandwiches from Walmart (shutout to Marketside Italian Hero Sub Sandwich, you da real mvp!) since we were either out hiking, didn't have time or were in places with no/no good restaurants.
But if you are like us and suffer from severe FOMO, and don't care for pesky things like food and rest for your vacations, we’ll plan a trip for you ;)
With that said, here is how the trip went:
Vegas: 4/5
Got a few comments about spending less time in Vegas but for me it was perfect! I also didn't want to drive totally jet lagged the first thing i did so having a few days here before driving was nice!
Visited Meow wolf/Omega Mart which was a pretty cool place with tons to see and do, but I wish that the store played a bigger role in the experience, and would still recommend it! (Also, we were super jet lagged here so probably not the best time to do it)
We saw the show “Absinthe” which was seriously awesome! Costs a bit but totally worth it!
Other than that we mostly walked though all the casinos on the strip, gambled a bit (somehow only lost 5$ in total) and admired the absurdness that is vegas! The food here was also great! Especially “The Taco Stand”, one of the best tacos i've ever eaten!
Death Valley 4/5
The comments on death valley in the previous post were mostly in favor of skipping this which I'm glad we didn't listen to lol. Watching over the valley at Dantes View with the snow capped mountains on the other side was amazing. Badwater basin, currently being a lake, was super cool to experience, walking out barefoot in the warm salty water was a really memorable experience! (Cleaning of all the salt later was a pain in the ass haha)
I also thought that the desolation of the area was really cool, it weirdly reminded me a lot of the lava fields in Iceland.
Sunset at mesquite flat sand dunes was beautiful as well.
We also saw some cool wildlife including one Coyote and two Desert Kit Foxes!
The only negative for DV is that it's so vast that you spend most of the time driving around and doing quick walks which isn’t really our thing. would’ve liked to do some longer hikes.
Zion 5/5:
Amazing place! We didn’t get a permit for Angels landing so we hiked the West Rim Trail up to the plateau and back instead. Really great hike with a lot of variety! It was probably the hardest of the trip with 20km there and back and 1000m elevation gain (12.5 miles, 3300ft). Hiked the Emerald pools trail, and canyon overlook as well for some beautiful sunsets.
Also, staying at Zion lodge was worth every cent! Being able to walk around and see the stars in the parks when all the other tourists went home was amazing!
On the way to Bryce we squeezed in the hike to the Observation point that has the best view of zion!
Bryce: 5/5
Probably our favorite place of the trip along with Grand Canyon and Saguaro np! Overlooking the bright orange hoodoos among white snow felt truly special! We hiked below the rim the first day and saw the sunrise the other day which again was spectacular!
Antelope Canyon: 4/5
Very very cool place but man, is it crowded... We did the lower part of the canyon but there were still so many people and you felt rushed to keep moving a lot of the time, what i wouldn't give to have that place to myself and take the time to admire it all! good thing you spend most of your time looking up and not at the backs of all the tourists lol.
Horseshoe bend: 3/5
Not much to see tbh, good thing it's next to the road.
Marble canyon 3/5
Saw a bunch of Condors which were cool, other than that not much to see.
Grand Canyon: 5/5
The first day had some really dull weather which caused the canyon to look kinda… dull. Hiked the rim for a few miles before going to the hotel.
However that night a snowstorm passed through the area and dropped 15-20cm (6-8 in) of snow on the south rim. When the storm finally passed and the weather cleared up around 10am we could finally descend the rim at the South Kaibab Trail. Walking down the rim amongst snow covered trees and rocks while overlooking the canyon's red cliffs in beautiful sunny weather was a truly magical experience that I'll never forget! I'm thankful that we bought microspikes for the hike as it was very Icy/slippery/muddy and we saw a lot of people without them really struggling. We hiked to Skeleton point, had lunch and then hiked back the same way since the Tonto and Bright Angel Trails were closed.
Sedona 4/5
A LOT of you kept saying that we had visited Sedona which we did! We had 3 nights (two full days) which was nice since it meant that we could take it somewhat easy and rest up. While it was a great place to visit, we felt that the other places we visited in AZ were cooler and in hindsight we probably would’ve spent another day in Tucson/Saguaro or even spent a day skiing in Arizona snowbow since it got a ton of snow with the storm!
We mostly did some hikes while we were there:
(Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte Loop Trail, Brins Mesa Trail/Soldiers pass loop, Airport loop (This was our favorite!))
While the hikes were nice, I gotta say that Sedona seemed a lot more fun on a mountain bike or terrain vehicle and I wish that we did one day on bikes!
Other than that, we strolled around Sedona and ate some great (real!) food!
Saguaro national park (West) 5/5
We didn’t really have any expectations here, we figured “Yeah, it's some cacti, probably not worth spending more than half a day here”. We were so very very wrong! Honestly such an amazing place, especially the sunset here was amazing!
We hiked the Hugh Norris trail along the ridge for a few hours and headed back the same way and it was one of the best hikes on the trip hands down! The temperature was perfect, the sun was out and there was very little wind! There were also tons of vultures there as well, we even saw two of them mating! I wish that we had more time to explore here!
White Sands NP 4/5
Only had a few hours here so didn’t have time for a longer hike, we mostly walked around in the dunes and saw the very beautiful sunset here. We stayed in Cloudcroft afterwards to get closer to Carlsbad the next day.
Carlsbad caverns 5/5
Turns out, we are idiots. We had booked almost everything in advance for this trip but we had somehow missed that even the self guided tours required a booking… They were of course all sold out. We drove from Cloudcroft super early and actually managed to get one of the last entrance tickets that the sold on site. The cave itself was spectacular and the hike down was really cool. The only complaint here is that they allow flash photography, nothing like getting blinded every few seconds by some tourist trying to take photos.
We had some hopes that we would have time to at least check out Guadalupe NP but since we got a late entrance we didn't have time afterwards. Stayed in Pecos afterwards to get closer to San Antonio. Nothing to see or do there except eating tacos.
Regarding driving through texas…
Everyone was warning us that this would be insanely boring etc but we actually liked it! The desert part was interesting with the oil fields (new for us) and after that things got really green and there were flowers everywhere! Reminded me of a lot of spring in southern Sweden! (Well Houston sucked big time but oh well)
San Antonio 3/5
I guess the eclipse is to blame but there were waaaaay too many people downtown.
Eclipse at LBJ State park 5/5
Unreal experience! Shame that it was so cloudy. During totality we only had maybe 10 seconds where the sun/moon wasn’t covered in clouds.
Houston 1/5
If the highways just had one more lane then traffic would be fixed forever! /s
Space Center Houston 3/5
Some really cool things but i wish it was more like a museum, it felt more like an exhibition that was catered to school kids (which there were like 10 000 of)
New Orleans 5/5
Really loved it here, weather was amazing (Except for the major storm that caused closed down a bunch of things, for us we had to cancel our visit to the Whitney Plantation.) The WW2 museum was probably the best museum I've ever visited! if you want to see it all you probably need more than one day. The French Quarter Festival was really nice and it was great just strolling around with no car and eating and drinking at all the food trucks and restaurants. Also, Barracuda Taco Stand had the BEST fish taco I've ever had!
Only complaint is that absolutely no one stops at crosswalks unless they have a red light. Even if you are already in the street the cars will not slow down at all.
All in all we are extremely happy with our trip and are really thankful for all your input in the previous post! We felt that we really saw as much as we could in the south west in the time that we had without it being just stop and go!

2024.04.16 05:58 ATX_Traveler94 I was getting heckled on by the dealer and players for not throwing $5 chips on the bonuses and side bets? (Blackjack)

So first off. I started playing blackjack two years ago, I first practiced on my phone to get good at it.
I’ve been to Vegas 5 times, OKC casinos 5 times, Louisiana and now San Diego. Plus online. I play a decent amount.
Every casino seems to have different side bets.. Tbh I play light. Bring $200-$300 to play with.
I was in San Diego, I put $50 on the table and ended up with $400! I was playing good but the entire time I was getting heckled for not doing the side bets.. So I cash out go get dinner, go back.. Same crowd. Another $50 on the table.
This time I put $5 on the side bets every hand. I didn’t win anything.. Am I missing something here? Just seems like a waste idk how much $$ I lost doing side bets. I won $200 the second time around off my hands but nothing off side bets.
Didn’t see anyone else win off it either.. Why do they make such a big deal about it? Like I’m a rookie if I don’t do it?

2024.04.11 17:42 FactorQuirky Gender Discrimination(?)

First things first, I'm a 45yo cis man who, about a year ago, started carrying a purse. The reason for the change was simply that I was tied of walking around with stuffed pockets. I want to be clear that this is not about gender affirmation, it's simply a choice of convenience.
A couple of weeks ago I visited a casino in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Upon entering, the security post at the door said that he couldn't let me in with the bag, and I informed him that the bag was a purse. He then said that he'd have to check the contents. I said something to the effect of, "if I was a woman, would you be checking?" He said that he wouldn't and that it was policy to check men's bags.
I understand that this policy isn't ok, but I had dinner reservations so i complied and opened my purse to him. He, barely glancing, said, "I can't let you in with all that stuff."
The "stuff" in question was keys, wallet, cellphone, cash, and a bottle of eliquid.
I politely informed him that he was incorrect in his decision and asked him for a supervisor.
He immediately escalated the situation and his tone was mocking and confrontational. I kept cool and looked at his name tag and said, "ok. It's R****(name), right?"
Now he completely lost any modicum of calmness and said, "Yeah it's R**** you fucking bitch!"
Two things happened at this point, first is that I completely lost my cool, and secondly, by his tone and words I knew his discrimination was because he assumed I was gay.
A bit of a screaming match ensued rife with threats from R, and then more security came running up.
The first security guard who arrived was a supervisor who's first order of business was to deescalate the situation. He immediately started asking me for my side of the story, and he was the only person I interacted with in this situation that would receive more than a one star review.
I asked for the casino manager as well as anyone up the security management chain. He asked if I would give a written statement of what happened in the security office while I waited for them to arrive.
I started to fill out the statement form and a few minutes later the head of the casino's security department arrived and I relayed what happened. He was fairly dismissive and didn't say much.
He left and the supervisor returned. I again asked for the casino manager and he said that he was trying to get him over. I went on to tell him that what happened was against the law, and he acknowledged that R's actions were out of line, but it was "unusual for a man to carry a purse."
After waiting for a few more minutes, I told him that I'd like to go to my car in the parking lot to cool off and to please have the casino manager call me when he was available.
I left the security office and headed to the front door where R was still at his post. I got out to the car and a few minutes later I got a call to return.
I walked back through the front door where R was still posted, and back to the security office.
It still wasn't the casino manager. It was head of security again. He told me that the manager wasn't available. I told him that their inaction of R still being at his post and the manager's avoidance spoke to the casino as a whole being ok with discriminatory behavior. I told him to have a nice day and I obviously didn't go to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant that night.
Basically from the point of R calling me a fucking bitch, I started audio and video recording the interaction
Should I be contacting an attorney, or is this behavior that will just go unpunished?

2024.04.09 11:02 needanothermedic Ohio attempting to join other states in requiring ID to view explicit material on the web

House Bill 295, known as the ‘Innocence Act,’ received its first hearing at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday.
Co-sponsored by Rep. Powell, and sponsored by Representative Steve Demetriou, the Innocence Act would require a more rigorous age verification process to prevent minors from viewing sexually explicit material on the internet in Ohio. It would require any person in the state to verify their age prior to accessing pornographic websites and would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to view sexually explicit content.
“In Ohio, any business whose primary purpose is to sell or rent adult content must verify the age of those entering their establishment as required in Ohio Revised Code Section 2907.39,” said Demetriou. “The Innocence Act will take concepts from this common sense law in the ORC into the 21st Century. We need to pass the Innocence Act because we know that video rental stores are largely part of a bygone era as smartphones and the internet are the platforms through which our children are exposed to obscene and harmful content.”
This version of the Innocence Act was created after receiving input from the Ohio Casino Control Commission, the Ohio Department of Public Safety, the Ohio Prosecuting Attorney’s Association, the Ohio Judicial Conference, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and the Age Verification Providers Association.
“The porn industry has used technological advances to put harmful content at our children’s fingertips,” said Powell. “Ohioans know that porn can change consumers’ brains, be habit-forming, normalize abuse, perpetuate racism and toxic stereotypes, and harm sexual development and intimacy. We cannot let the porn industry addict our children to material that can harm them for decades to come.”
Similar legislation has been passed with wide bipartisan support in other states such as Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, California, and Utah to name a few, that require commonsense age verification measures to protect kids from dangerous and explicit material online.
Other states such as Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, California, and Utah to name a few, have passed similar legislation with wide bipartisan support. Ohio hopes to be the next state to protect kids from dangerous and explicit material online by passing this commonsense age verification measure.

Edit: This was a legislative email update sent to constituents from one of the sponsors of the bill. I thought it needed to be shared. I do not agree with this bill and am firmly against it, for any number of reasons.

2024.04.02 01:19 fezha We love Louisiana (immigrant edition)

Hello Y'all. (I hope I spelled it right)
I'm from across the gulf (Honduras) and my wife comes across the pond (Europe, Italy). And yes we are legal immigrants. I'm a disabled veteran today and my wife is active duty.
We LOVE southwestLouisiana. You have the beach, casino, awesome food, people with values, and great cost of living. I know many of Yall just hate Louisiana but I've lived poor, wealthy and just... Army life and I love it here. Your experience truly depends on who you spend time with and your neighborhood. I love how my parish spend money on things we need and school, as well as the state.
I love TaD's, McNeese games and the welcoming of multicultural. In the rest of the south (NC, SC, TN, GA, etc) you are more or less an outcast. I hate that. Here I feel I belong. I love watching the alligators. I love the Prairie. I love how my boss talks about dammn good food and red fish. I love the lost French culture disguised as pride still alive within the baguette in the Bekery. I love Darrell's PoBoys. Omg. Just life changing. Everyone talks shit from home but never from the beach or the Prairie.
And no, this is not an April Fool's joke. Me and my wife always talk about how southern Louisiana is awesome (in comparison to the rest of the south). Oh and she loves DAQUIRI DRIVE THRU.
Today Im white collar federal worker and she's active duty but stationed in Kentucky. She always tells me how much she misses Louisiana culture and the people.
I was once invited to a 2nd generation Sicillian Xmas party. Wow, so much family and catholic pride. Made me tear up.
And she loves Rouses. Just know there is someone out there that appreciates your land happily enough to pays the taxes of Calcasieu Parish. We just want to integrate, support services that benefit us all, and also enjoy culture
Happy Easter.
PS. Can we ask questions in this sub regarding Louisiana etiquette?
