Long story short: I'm a seasoned developer with roughly 7 years of experience in the Nordics. Mostly had 1-2 year stints in both small and bigger companies (banks,telecom,Klarna,H&M, etc.). Made the switch to devops/sre position a few years ago and now have a pretty good grasp on everything from dev to ops and public cloud, jack of all trades would be a good description. I have worked on both legacy and bleeding edge tech so far and obviously prefer bleeding edge over legacy. Also prefer many responsibilities/hats rather than team silos like you see in corporate environments. Not to mention autonomy over bureaucratic environments.
BUT, bleeding edge usually means small/local, low impact projects where employee count is <100. If I break production it wouldn’t have a severe consequence, the scale is just not there (for now).
My ambition is to build a cv/career that will be interesting overseas and I’m not getting that attention as of now. It’s mainly local startups/scale ups. Sometimes in London or Amsterdam.
Should I bite the bullet and move to something bigger for brand name recognition? If so which Nordic companies?
Tldr: built good knowledge in small companies. Want to move overseas. Should I move to big tech/mnc?

So I work in a corporate office and everyone is remote but 3 of us. The receptionist, whom I’m cool with, always visits the restroom when I go (maybe 2/5 days a week). She knows I’m there because I have to walk past her desk. When she comes in, I stop shitting and just sit in silence because it’s awkward asf. The part that pisses me off is that she does the same thing. She comes in, pisses, and then sits in her stall silently. It pisses me off because I don’t want to have my coworker hear me wipe my ass in dead silence. Most days we have a sit off and sit in silence for 30 minutes. I always win because she eventually gives up and leaves. It’s so weird because Everytime I go to the restroom and notice someone in a stall silently, I just leave and go to a different floor to give them some damn privacy. Now I’m typing this ass my damn legs are going numb.

Hello everyone! I’ve noticed a lot of the same questions on this sub, so I’m going to try to make a post here to hopefully cover a lot of people’s basic questions and give them answers. I don’t want to leave anything out so I’m curious; what info about coins do you think is most important for new collectors to know? I plan to cover things like what a DDO means, what a proof looks like, what dates to look for, and how to spot when a coin is cleaned, but is there anything else you think would help? Any suggestions are appreciated and discussion is welcome. Thanks!

I've been to a couple of games in the past and remember seeing some highbacked, cushioned chairs in the front central sections, do you know which sections those would be?

I've done some searching on this sub and is it true to say all 200 level seats are cushioned also? I saw a recommendation for sections 217-221 but they aren't really available for the games I want to go to. If I got 216 or 223 would we still get comfier chairs than the hard plastic ones in the 100's?

Hi everyone-
DDay 1 happened one year ago today. I made it! It’s a hard day. You don’t want to post that shit on social media. 😅 But somehow it still needs attention. So naturally I come to my safe space here. 🙏
I guess I want to share that though this Sub is full of great advice and there were days, weeks, and even months where I wouldn’t have known how to keep going and holding on if it wasn’t for this community. But the most important part when you find yourself on the betrayed side of an A is to concentrate on yourself, find a good IC, seek support from friends and family, read the books, listen to the podcasts, and become the best version of yourself you can imagine. No matter what happens with the relationship, you will always benefit from that.
An update from my side if anyone is interested where one can be one year out. I should probably add that DDay 3 was only 7 weeks ago, but I have learned that you deal with the hurt more efficiently with time:

• I currently feel good without IC and MC.
• My everyday life is filled with joy that I get from interactions with friends, my kids, work, physical activity, good novels, and yeah, sometimes even from things that happen between my WH and me.
• I am looking forward to a long vacation to my home country and am half-scared half-excited what will happen once I make it to my family and friend’s comforting arms.
• I am proud of the parent I was able to be throughout this horrific year, the horrific last years really.
• I do struggle with the fact that I haven’t been loved by a partner for so long now, and wonder sometimes if all this waiting is a waste of time. Like, could I have a loving partner today if I had cut the cord a year ago and put that energy towards somebody else? But I do love WH and believe in him still and as long as that tiny ass flame is still alive inside of me I won’t cause any more damage for some fling that could inflict me the same hurt one day. Because of course I never thought WH could be that guy. Anyway, we all get to waver occasionally.
• WH switched to an IC that knows about relationships.
• He still isn’t 100% sure if he wants to R, but he says he’s getting close after 3 weeks with the new IC. I cannot stress enough what a difference that switch has made.
• He is NC with the AP, 4 weeks now.
• I consider the AP a nothing burger most days, but the pull is strong on others. On those days I want to know everything about her, talk to her, see her in person, anything that breaks the magic spell that surrounds her.
• The damage this all has done to our extended families is a topic I can’t even truly face yet. I mostly stay away from his parents and sister, no idea how these relationships are going to play out in the long run.

What else? I really can’t thank you all enough. The resources shared in this Sub, the encouragement, the different perspectives. You all are so so amazing and I wish I could give you all a big hug. Stay strong everyone! 💪

For a Barbie sub this has been one of the more toxic and unfriendly subs I’ve had the displeasure of being in. It’s like everyone here has hive mind. Go against the flow or say something contrary to whatever xyz person has said and you’re attacked within an inch of your life.
People here seem to Love to complain about even the tiniest things, whether or not there’s actually anything to complain about.

I know the construction field is toxic in itself but my company leadership is toxic in certain ways. I work for a small company which I love after being in a large corporate tech company. But the owners are outspoken about their Christian faith and are slightly homophobic. They are a bit outspoken about a lot of their political beliefs and it makes working for them since I don’t share similar beliefs and they want us to obviously agree with them. It’s also tough because being brought in to drive growth and change, the owner shoots everything down out of paranoia of something bad happening or someone somehow accessing customer data.
Not sure what to do other than leave but I sincerely love the work I do. Just not management. And feel stuck since I’m not able to do what I need to in order to grow their sales.

ANSWER: Likely only to be disbursed as each business aspect of the NanoXplore five year strategic business development investment plan is necessarily firmed up by prerequisite long term commitments for NanoXplore being provided by necessarily offtake purchase agreement issuing and concurrent capital provisioning agreement customers/partners.

The Canadian Federal Government would be paying as NanoXplore goes, so to speak, and reimbursing NanoXplore for expenditures incurred along the prerequisite development of each business aspect relating to NanoXplore's five year strategic business development investment plan.

QUESTION: Where are the offtake agreements making possible the provisioning of a "Go" Final Investment Decision or "Go FID", with respect to the thereafter immediate commencement of that 16,000 tpa graphene manufacturing and graphene enhanced battery anode component materials process manufacturing facility?

Answer: Presently still negotiating potential customers are aurging NanoXplore officers and directors to expedite the building out of the proposed graphene enhanced battery anode component materials and "SiGTM" anode additive material manufacturing component to the five year strategic business development investment plan.

Apparently, NanoXplore management let it be clearly known that there is a great need on the part of such presently still negotiating with NanoXplore battery cells manufacturers to as quickly as humanly possible purchase enough of NanoXplore's proprietary "BAM" solutions, so as to allow the specific automotive manufacturer customers of such battery cells manufacturers to regain eligibility for U.S. "IRA" supported battery-electric powered vehicles customers purchase subsidies.

Hmm? Which U.S. situated automotive manufacturer recently lost and/or stands to lose eligibility under the U.S. "IRA" relating regulations for said purchase subsidies and which battery cells manufacturers and partners are known to be supplying such very needy U.S. situated automotive manufacturers?

The answer to such a question would provide you with a good idea of which battery cells manufacturer (s) are urging NanoXplore to build out the company's proposed capacity manufacturing of it's various proprietary "BAM" solutions.

QUESTION: Where in hades is that NanoXplore management long promoted and seemingly nowhere near realized as duly consummated "commercial agreement" amongst NanoXplore and that globally well recognized chemicals company?

It's been closer to a fiscal year since Mr. Soroush Nazarpour touted, during that quarterly financials conderence call, the negotiating of said agreement with a certain company which I had long ago (circa 2019) referred to as being "The Industrial Titan".

ANSWER: Apparently, said prospective commercial agreement intering into and globally recognized chemical corporation, the very company which I long ago dubbed "The Industrial Titan", is not yet prepared to fully and finally consummate with NanoXplore such a long touted and yet simply not yet materialized "commercial agreement".

Although, I will once again point out the following information.

It's widely known that NanoXplore proprietary "Graphene BlackTM" is already certified with Ford Motor Company and it's wholly owned subsidiary entity for use as a fist conductive filler comprising highly conductive electrical pathways within plastic material.

ANSWER: In my opinion yes, as there is a majority of the proposed as "dry process" manufactured and relatively "less refined" graphene material product which is apparently reserved and slated to be supplied to a very large scale industrial graphene enhanced products manufacturer and NanoXplore commercial agreement entering into customer. Again, that would be the majority of any "dry process" manufactured and relatively "less refined" graphene material is going to be required by just one NanoXplore commercial agreement entering into customer; and the better portion of the $80 Million in expected Government of Canada capital grants are likely going to be disbursed when such a prospective customer fully and finally consummates the commercial agreement in question with NanoXplore.

This sub has always been of the opinion that Janice and Tony are extremely similar. What I’ve never understood is that their similarities only overlap when you compare Tony’s way of doing things in the mafia world, where it is rightfully effective. Janice never did a productive thing a day in her life. Her sociopathy and lack of any concern towards anybody made her seem like one of the worst characters written in the history of TV. Say what you will about Tony, but he loved his family - even with all is problems with lust. Janice couldn’t love anybody to begin with.

Having a hard time making a decision. I personally feel like LBS and Fuqua are in a tier above Marshall so even with the $$ I am not so sure Marshall is even in the hunt.
I have a few years of experience working at early stage start ups, 3 years of IB at a bulge bracket, and a few more years in Corporate Development working mostly on joint ventures, partnerships, and building out organic growth channels. Post-MBA goals are to get into consulting hoping to emphasize on M&A or PE at MBB or second tier, or trying to leverage my IB experience to a buy-side roll. Also open to larger Corporate Development roles or general strategy. I am open to staying in Europe for a few years but want to end up back in the states at some point given family ties.
Looking at employment reports I think that LBS has a lot to offer as far as unique opportunities and I am tending to think that it may provide me a better shot at MBB or PE/buy side roles straight out of the MBA compared to Fuqua (more placement for first-timers at MBB, and seems like PE is fairly strong from the school with companies like CVC and Alchemy). I may also be biased by the opportunity to spend at least a couple years living and traveling in the UK and around Europe and I like the diversity and flexbility that LBS offers. I think Fuqua has a lot to offer as well (don't love that they don't have a grade non-disclosure) and with the UK economy being pretty poor right now and my long term desire to be back in the U.S., feels like LBS might be a mistake...

I’m new to this sub and you guys are always using abbreviations for stuff, and I understood HG (hosted games) COG (Choice of Games) but it’s only yesterday when I used my brain that I realised that WIP is work in progress.

I understand a lot of roles are very collaborative or in need of being there in person such as design, test, manufacturing. But for roles that aren’t why are these companies so averse to hiring remotely?
Im mid level mainly work space defense or aircraft, in systems analysis as well as thermal fluids FEA, my role is not collaborative at all. I might need a 15 min discussion then I’m off and can complete my task 100% solo or with the odd teams message. I know the software packages, I’ve done the work a thousand times, I can hit the ground running day one but yet every job and recruiter that’s “desperately hiring” and cant find qualified applicants can’t consider remote work. Even more annoying I’ll be interviewed by a team for an onsite role yet 3/4 the group are interviewing me from home. Huh
On top of that myself and many ppl I know would gladly accept a significant salary decrease if allowed to wfh yet they don’t bite. I had a near offer near Boston for almost $200k, I said I’d take 120 if they approved remote yet no bite. I get the fear assumed in loss of productivity but surely paying folks half the salary is worth that risk.
My theory, these upper level boomers in higher management and director roles are the ones against it. They live and breathe the corporate life. I’ve yet to meet anyone under 50 against remote work.

This is something I hear all the time, but I never really understood it to be honest.
Of course, everyone uses and relies on the internet a lot more than we did back in the late 90's/early 2000's, but so what? How is that fact incompatible with the idea Karl and Yasuo have about the Wired just being a sub-system? Merely a medium of communication happening, fundamentally, just between real people in the real world.
The Knights and Eiri, have the exact opposite view, where, I guess because they consider consciousness as just identical to electromagnetic signals, they think the Wired can more directly house what humans fundamentally are (instead of needing the body which for them is just an unnecessary way of situating/particularizing mental phenomena).
Suffice to say, this is kind of a sci-fiy idea. Maybe one that a lot of people consider seriously as a possibility (the idea of "transferring your consciousness to a computer"), but definitely not something people are engaging in this very moment.
So is the idea then that there is something about how people use the internet now that approximates this desired end state of the Knights and Eiri? If so, what is it?
Probably related to my troubles with this is the fact that I don't feel like I have a clear idea of what "breaking the border between the Wired and the real world" means, as in, how that makes reality fundamentally different. In the show it seems to mean that whoever controls the flow of Wired's information (or maybe just the Wired as such) can alter people's memories and therefore reconstitute the world at will.
Again, this is a pretty sci-fiy idea. It obviously doesn't literally apply to our world/society. So what's supposed to be the figurative meaning that we say matches onto what's going on in our world?

Yes, usually, most terms will state that a switch just has to be started (or applied for) before the end date or before an offer ends.

1. Do I have to transfer the required amount in all in one go, and does it matter if I pay money in before my switch is complete?

No and not usually, as long as the amount you pay in adds up to the required amount, and as long as you pay it in before the deadline stated in the terms. There has been one exception to this - Co-op - so check individual terms.

1. I need to switch "active" direct debits, does a payment need to have been taken before I switch?

According to Nationwide, an active direct debit is one that has been set up or had a payment taken from it in the past 13 months. So no, according to this. But why not just wait for the direct debit to be taken? You'll not have to worry about it then.

Never switched a bank account before?

You should consider it. It is one of the easiest and most efficient ways of earning a little beermoney. It is advised to leave your main bank account alone. Instead, switch a secondary bank account, or open a new account at your current bank to be used just for switching. Recommended steps:

1. Open a second current account with your main high street bank (must be part of CASS service)
2. Set up direct debits on the second account (if required).
3. Add £1 to your second account. This will be transferred to your new account, allowing you to see when the switch has been completed.
4. Apply for a new account and arrange to switch to your second bank account (sometimes this is during the application process, other times it is after the account is opened).
5. Let the current account switch service take care of everything.
6. Make sure all other terms are met (e.g. pay in money if needed).
7. Receive your bank switching bonus.

You will hear about lots of people rushing through all of the switch bonuses available. These offers have been coming and going for years, my advice is to do an offer that tickles your fancy and try out a new bank. Then, if you decide you do not like your new bank you should sample another bank and get paid again!

Are there some bank accounts worth keeping?

Why yes. Some are quite good, and give ongoing rewards. For example, Club Lloyds gives free Disney Plus. See the "don't leave us please" bank rewards post. Some also give access to the best savings accounts (e.g. regular savers).

General Bank Switch Questions

Current Account Switch Bribes - Why do they offer them?

They want your business. Banks like fighting each other for customers. Most of them know they can't win by highlighting their outdated systems and products, so they fight each other by offering potential customers cash bribes (or equivalent) to switch their "main" bank account.

Can I switch any bank account to get a bribe?

No. You must switch a bank account that is part of The Current Account Switch Service (CASS). Most high street banks are included. But some Neo Banks are not (e.g., Kroo, Revolut, & Monese are not included). You should try to avoid switching your main bank account. You can always open an additional account just to switch.

Is it too much hassle?

No. The Current Account Switch Service (CASS) makes switching your account between most banks smooth and effortless. You do not have to do anything apart from apply for and set up a new account at a different bank and tell them you want to switch your account to them. Everything is transferred automatically (except recurring card payments).

Is there the best route to sample all the banks with switch offers?

Do the offer ending soonest first. Then you might switch again. If you complete all offers in this post, you could earn yourself >£1000.

Some of these end soon. Will the offers come back?

Banks have been offering bribes on and off for many years. We can't predict the future. But this is not a new thing.

How long does a bank switch take?

Approximately one week.

Do I have to switch my main account?

You could. But you don't have to. Many people have second bank accounts. One option may be to open up a second account with your current high street bank, add some direct debits to this second account and then switch it to the new bank you want to try out. On the sub, people also like Starling or Monzo as they are easy to set up (but you might want to switch back to them at the end - their functionality wins vs any usual high street bank).
High-street banks also let you open multiple accounts. If you already have an account with one, you might want to open an additional one with your current bank first (Halifax, NatWest etc are reported to allow several current accounts and to be fast to open).

I have savings accounts at the same bank as my current account. Can I still switch to this current account?

Yes. Only the current account will be closed (some linked regular savers may be converted to normal savings accounts). You might want to consider if switching to a secondary account is a better option.

I have linked savers attached to my current account. Can I still switch it?

Possibly.

Which banks let me open a second bank account?

Most of them.

Do I need to activate the card on the account I am going to switch?

Just do it anyway. Some banks require it

What details do I need to switch?

• Sort code and account number.
• Debit card information.
• Usually, but not always, 2 active DDs on the account you are switching.

Do you need to have money in the account you are switching?

No. But it might be a good idea - this will allow you to see when the switch happens (i.e. when the money is transferred!).

I do not have a bank card with my old current account as it is very very old, can I still switch it?

Most online forms require card details, but you can usually switch such accounts over the phone.

My new bank has not given me my account number (e.g. NatWest).

Usually, these are sent via post/email when you sign up. But some banks don't have the account numbers on the card, or maybe letters get lost in the post. If this happens, wait for the card to arrive and contact their support. If you get a bot on the chat thing, type "speak to a human" repeatedly.

My new bank account is a premium account and it has a fee. Do I need to keep paying for this?

No. You can downgrade the account. But you should probably wait until you have been paid the bonus.

I don't like my new bank, do I need to wait for the bank card before switching again?

Yes. See question above. Most banks require the card details of your existing account.

I made an account just to switch. Can I switch before my new bank card arrives?

Best not to. You are asked to enter the debit card information as part of the process.

The offer says I have to pay in £xxxx. Does it have to be in one go?

No. You can transfer in and out. The total sent in has to be equal to or greater than the stated amount. You should be careful with this though, sending money in and out of an account can trigger anti-fraud measures.

The offer says I have to pay in £xxxx. Can I pay it in before the switch completes?

Yes. You can pay it before, after, or during. You can manually transfer it, or it can be transferred automatically from your old account.

I've been asked to verify my identity. Is this normal?

Sometimes automated checks fail. If this happens, you may be asked to manually verify your application by visiting a branch or sending in a copy of your ID.

I switched from Monzo/Starling and want to return, can I?

Starling does not let you return within 12 months. With Monzo, it's possibly a shorter one month that you have to wait.

Do I have to switch direct debits?

Check individual offer terms.

What is an "Active" direct debit?

An active direct debit is usually one where a payment had been taken in the last 13 months. But some bank switch terms require direct debits to have been paid out of the account. If an offer requires an active direct debit, it's safer to switch to an account that has already paid out direct debits.**

Do I have to stick with my new bank for any length of time?

No.

If I switch away, will the bank claw back the bonus?

Very unlikely. They would have to specify this in their terms, and none have ever done so.

My switch is complete, but I have not yet received my bonus. Will I still get the bonus if I switch this account before it is paid?

Probably not.

My most recent switch is not quite complete, but I have already received the bonus. Can I start another switch?

You should probably wait for the switch to complete.

Can I get more than one bribe from each bank?

Sometimes. With some banks (e.g. Nationwide), you can get a bonus for switching one sole and one joint current account. Other banks will pay you to switch again, as long as you have not had a bonus in a specified amount of time. You will need to check individual offer terms.

XXX Bank gave me a bonus before, can I get a bonus again?

You need to check the individual offer terms.

Will this affect my credit score?

Credit scores are a funny thing, What is more important is what is actually in your credit file. Obviously, if you apply for an overdraft then it will affect your "credit score". However, if you do not have an overdraft or you make sure that you have paid off any overdraft before switching banks, then a single current account switch should not negatively impact your credit score. Nevertheless, typically all major banks (excepting Monzo and Starling) do a hard credit search, and this will be recorded on your file. If you plan on applying for a new mortgage soon then you may wish to exercise caution in switching between a load of banks. This is because the hard searches performed by banks will appear on your report and may have an effect for 6-12 months.

I have a bad credit score, will I be accepted to XXX bank?

Unfortunately, we do not know the acceptance criteria of the banks. You might be unlucky with one bank, but lucky with another.

My application was rejected. Why?

Nobody here knows. You could try appealing, but your only way to find out more is to contact the bank.

After switching my account, I still have online banking with my old provider. Do I need this?

No. You do not need to keep the online access (you could shut it down). But you may wish to retain these details in case your old bank suddenly appears with an offer that makes you want to switch back. Or open up a savings account.

Has anyone else been paid for switching to XXX Bank yet?

Check the terms of the offer you signed up for. Some banks have long deadlines and stick to them (e.g. Santander, TSB). Some are quicker. If you haven't been paid within the stated terms, then you should contact the bank's support.

Context: 22 years old. Currently in school for HVAC. Off for the summer but will graduate this coming Winter.
I’ve only ever done retail sales related jobs since high school. Started off at Best Buy as a sales associate in the computer department. Moved to Apple as a store sales associate, although I did more “selling” at Best Buy if you know what I mean.
Currently, I work at a mattress store in a shopping mall. It’s a commission only based job. Been here 5 months but I’m already a top performer here. I don’t want to be here anymore since it gets so dead during the week that you won’t even get a solid opportunity to sell a mattress. Corporate screws us over by not having stock on certain items, causing us to lose sales both large and small. My coworker doesn’t give a fuck about the job and his inabilty to sell prevents us from hitting our monthly goals which give us bonus pay.
I’ve always been passionate about cars, dream job would to be a BMW/Porsche salesman, although I probably won’t be able to start there, considering they’d want some automotive sales experience beforehand, and I know that dealerships look for salesman, not car enthusiasts.
