Just had my bilateral salpingectomy today! I saw Dr. Charlotte Pickens in La Jolla, CA btw. It was an amazing experience y'all! Much easier than I anticipated! Buckle up, it's a long one, and very detailed! But all positive for the most part LOL
I'm 34 and have never EVER had surgery aside from getting my wisdom teeth out at 16, and a colonoscopy at 24. Never even broken a bone or gotten stitches, nothing. I have a lot of medical anxiety, I was tripping out the most over sleep paralysis despite anesthesia LOL Wasn't even nervous about the actual surgery, just didn't wanna wake up during it and be mentally scarred for life 🤣 Saw a few scary stories on TV once about that phenomenon.
The office gave me Hibiclens at my consult appt to take home & scrub my abdomen with the last 3 showers leading up surgery. Yesterday morning, yesterday evening, and this morning. No deodorant, lotions, perfumes, nail polish or jewelry after my shower this morning.
I was NPO after midnight last night. They instructed me to drink an ensure between 9pm-11pm last night since my surgery was in the afternoon. I also took half an Ativan last night at 9pm to make sure I slept and didn't have anxiety insomnia lol They also instructed me to take my heart arrythmia pill this morning right upon wakening with a tiny sip of water. I had an echocardiogram a week ago, so yes, I got cardiac clearance lol I also had a pre-op transvaginal ultrasound and blood work 2 weeks ago.
When I got there, they called me back to the pre-op room. I got weighed, asked for my height, and had to pee in a cup first thing. They then had me change into my gown, skiddy socks & hair net. They gave me 2 Tylenol 500mg & a Celebrex (200mg - for preventative nerve pain) with a tiny sip of water. Then they took my BP/pulse ox, and started my IV in my left hand, and started fluids and some Ativan. They also put on the leg compression things, man they feel great lol They got me heated blankets, and even had a lil pack of lavender smelly stuff they taped to the top left of my paper gown for relaxation 😊
All the staff came in and introduced themselves while in pre-op, from the surgeon herself, to the anesthesia team, to the OR scrub nurses, to the surgical resident that'd be observing (with my permission of course.) They also asked if they had permission to let the surgical resident practice a pelvic exam on me while under anesthesia, I agreed. I've been employed in healthcare myself for 17 years, so anything to help with someone's education! I could've refused if I wanted, but I really appreciated them asking beforehand.
They then wheeled me back to the OR, and I was feeling goooood with the Ativan lol They also pushed a lil GI cocktail too before they gave me the gas. I had to scoot myself from my original pre-op bed to the OR table, which was easy, they leveled the beds together and helped me. They then masked me with the gas, and I was outttt like a light after about 4-5 deeeeep inhales!!!
I woke up in post-op an hour and a half later. Went in at 12 noon, woke up at 1:30pm, all done! They intubated me after falling asleep, and pulled it out before waking up, it's like nothing ever happened! No soreness, hoarseness or coughing. I'm clearing my throat occasionally here and there 7 hours later, just kinda feels like when you get "bubbles" (post-nadal drip basically lol) in your throat with seasonal allergies. Not often enough to cause soreness which is great, waaaay better then what I anticipated after reading about other people's experiences on here. They cathed me too since they gave me fluids, thankfully after I was out, and removed it before I woke up, so it hurts to pee just a little bit, not even as bad a UTI 🤣 Like, a 4 on a scale of 1-10.
They gave me ice chips & apple juice straight upon awakening too, which was great! I had no nausea at all, still don't hours later. I rested for about 30 mins, then they brought back my ride to hang out with me and go over discharge instructions. I got up to go pee, and then they wheeled me outside to the car, and even opened the door & helped me get in!! They have $5 valet services for 0-3 hours parking, so the car was pulled right up to the curb right outside the front doors!
We drove straight to IHOP afterwards. I took it easy with some Belgian waffles & a few strips of bacon, and a mango iced tea, and a few sips of my ride's cinnamon milkshake lol I then stopped by Walgreens to grab a few house things I forgot to pick up last night, my ride helped & carried everything 😊
The ride home was smooth, I didn't have any discomfort from the shitty ass bumpy roads on our 30 min drive home lol I did bring a squishmallow to put between my belly and the seat belt, which was a genius idea I picked up on here!
BTW, I'm an occasional recreational cannabis user. I was honest and disclosed my use to my anesthesiologist only (VERY IMPORTANT), I didn't want that ICD-10 diagnosis use code going to Tricare from my consult appt ahead of surgery & prior authorization for obvious reasons lol. I quit edibles 2 months ago, and vaping 1 month ago. My anesthesiologist said I would've been fine discontinuing use just 5-7 days prior to surgery (no ibuprofen 7 days before either lol), but I did a month + to be safe, I'm a bit on the heavier side, and I've heard edibles stick around in your system (fat lol) much longer than just smoking/vaping, so I wanted to be super certain that I'd be clear and not fuck up anesthesia for myself. For reference, I'm 5'6", 180lbs. I took 3-4 puffs of a vape 4-5 days a week, and 10mg worth of edibles once almost every weekend for a few months straight, so not a super heavy user.
I hope my experience can help others make the decision to take the plunge too before election day lol I called to set up the consult appt back in December, had the actual consult appt in February, and first available surgery was today, late May.
I am a generally super anxious person by nature, and had my bestie/coworker take me to my very first surgery. My family is 3k miles away on the east Coast and couldn't be here, so if my anxious ass can do it, literally anybody can do it! I literally have nobody out here but my bestie, no family, no nothing. My soon to be ex husband is on deployment right now out in the Pacific, and is unreachable at the moment, and frankly doesn't give a shit. He knows I had surgery today too, and I KNOW he won't call or email out of common human decency to at least ask how it went when he does get back in service/port. He asked for a divorce a week after my consult appt, which happened to be 2 weeks before deployment, how convenient, after saying straight to my face before & after the appt that he totally supported my choice, and was looking forward to the DINK lifestyle with me. Oh well.
Y'all are 💯 when you say men aren't ~truly~ childfree unless they've had a vasectomy, or atleast got one scheduled on the books soon lol My conservative family back on the east coast are losing their shit over this, they're all christofacist trump bootlickers, I'm so glad I got to move away from all that and experience personal freedom/a different & better way of life out here. I'm so thankful to be in a position financially & geographically to have been able to take care of this. My GYN back home wouldn't even put an IUD in me at 29yrs old cause I never had kid before, so my cervix wasn't soft enough 🙄 Whatever bitch, I left and got spayed in Cali at 34 with no pushback from my Drs out here, kiss my grits lol

I've been employed in healthcare myself for 17 years, so anything to help with someone's education! I could've refused if I wanted, but I really appreciated them asking beforehand.
They then wheeled me back to the OR, and I was feeling goooood with the Ativan lol They also pushed a lil GI cocktail too before they gave me the gas. I had to scoot myself from my original pre-op bed to the OR table, which was easy, they leveled the beds together and helped me. They then masked me with the gas, and I was outttt like a light after about 4-5 deeeeep inhales!!!
I woke up in post-op an hour and a half later. Went in at 12 noon, woke up at 1:30pm, all done! They intubated me after falling asleep, and pulled it out before waking up, it's like nothing ever happened! No soreness, hoarseness or coughing. I'm clearing my throat occasionally here and there 7 hours later, just kinda feels like when you get "bubbles" (post-nadal drip basically lol) in your throat with seasonal allergies. Not often enough to cause soreness which is great, waaaay better then what I anticipated after reading about other people's experiences on here. They cathed me too since they gave me fluids, thankfully after I was out, and removed it before I woke up, so it hurts to pee just a little bit, not even as bad a UTI 🤣 Like, a 4 on a scale of 1-10.
They gave me ice chips & apple juice straight upon awakening too, which was great! I had no nausea at all, still don't hours later. I rested for about 30 mins, then they brought back my ride to hang out with me and go over discharge instructions. I got up to go pee, and then they wheeled me outside to the car, and even opened the door & helped me get in!! They have $5 valet services for 0-3 hours parking, so the car was pulled right up to the curb right outside the front doors!
We drove straight to IHOP afterwards. I took it easy with some Belgian waffles & a few strips of bacon, and a mango iced tea, and a few sips of my ride's cinnamon milkshake lol I then stopped by Walgreens to grab a few house things I forgot to pick up last night, my ride helped & carried everything 😊
The ride home was smooth, I didn't have any discomfort from the shitty ass bumpy roads on our 30 min drive home lol I did bring a squishmallow to put between my belly and the seat belt, which was a genius idea I picked up on here!
BTW, I'm an occasional recreational cannabis user. I was honest and disclosed my use to my anesthesiologist only (VERY IMPORTANT), I didn't want that ICD-10 diagnosis use code going to Tricare from my consult appt ahead of surgery & prior authorization for obvious reasons lol. I quit edibles 2 months ago, and vaping 1 month ago. My anesthesiologist said I would've been fine discontinuing use just 5-7 days prior to surgery (no ibuprofen 7 days before either lol), but I did a month + to be safe, I'm a bit on the heavier side, and I've heard edibles stick around in your system (fat lol) much longer than just smoking/vaping, so I wanted to be super certain that I'd be clear and not fuck up anesthesia for myself. For reference, I'm 5'6", 180lbs. I took 3-4 puffs of a vape 4-5 days a week, and 10mg worth of edibles once almost every weekend for a few months straight, so not a super heavy user.
I hope my experience can help others make the decision to take the plunge too before election day lol I called to set up the consult appt back in December, had the actual consult appt in February, and first available surgery was today, late May.
I am a generally super anxious person by nature, and had my bestie/coworker take me to my very first surgery. My family is 3k miles away on the east Coast and couldn't be here, so if my anxious ass can do it, literally anybody can do it! I literally have nobody out here but my bestie, no family, no nothing. My soon to be ex husband is on deployment right now out in the Pacific, and is unreachable at the moment, and frankly doesn't give a shit. He knows I had surgery today too, and I KNOW he won't call or email out of common human decency to at least ask how it went when he does get back in service/port. He asked for a divorce a week after my consult appt, which happened to be 2 weeks before deployment, how convenient, after saying straight to my face before & after the appt that he totally supported my choice, and was looking forward to the DINK lifestyle with me. Oh well.
Y'all are 💯 when you say men aren't ~truly~ childfree unless they've had a vasectomy, or atleast got one scheduled on the books soon lol My conservative family back on the east coast are losing their shit over this, they're all christofacist trump bootlickers, I'm so glad I got to move away from all that and experience personal freedom/a different & better way of life out here. I'm so thankful to be in a position financially & geographically to have been able to take care of this. My GYN back home wouldn't even put an IUD in me at 29yrs old cause I never had kid before, so my cervix wasn't soft enough 🙄 Whatever bitch, I left and got spayed in Cali at 34 with no pushback from my Drs out here, kiss my grits lol

 | Some of you may have seen me drop hints here and there (or a full preview on the Super Gameroom Dudes), but 4 months later, I've finally finished my biggest Arcade1Up mod project to-date: submitted by NeoHyper64 to Arcade1Up [link] [comments] Arcade1Up NBA Jam Shaq XL is now... Soul Calibur XL! There's a lot that went into this cab, and I basically built the entire thing 2 or 3 times over because of all the trial-and-error as I used new tools, tried new materials, got measurements wrong, etc. It was FAR more complicated than my prior NeoGeo build, but the results are better, too. Here is where I ended up with what went into this beast. Cabinet ($600):
Would it have to cost this much? No. I'm not a woodworker or craftsperson, but I am a perfectionist. So, the two things combined meant everything took longer and cost more than it probably should. But I also don't think you could legitimately do this build for anything less than a grand, unless you happen to have everything you need sitting around (including a PC and monitor) and can get cheap art, etc. All told, it probably cost me at least $2,500 if I include things that didn't make it into the final product. So, wouldn't it be better to just buy the real thing? That isn't the point. This is "built not bought" kind of thing. I wanted to see what I could do. And I wanted to prove what an XL could be... I think this did both. And I've owned a real arcade machine... tt was heavy, huge, and finnicky. Not again. And either way, good luck finding an original Soul Calibur machine. They weren't made in large numbers. Why not just build your own? I could, but that also wasn't the point. Building from scratch is a whole other endeavor, whereas using an Arcade1Up means it "inherently" has Arcade1Up-style dimensions and will fit in with my other cabinets. I also just wanted to do something in the XL size. Why Soul Calibur? It's a legit awesome game. It has a Metacritic score of 98, making it one of the highest scoring games of all time across all platforms and consoles. And it's easy for anyone to start playing. I have lots of fond memories playing on the Dreamcast, but with its very limited arcade exposure, there's less-than-zero chance Arcade1Up will ever make the game. Why use the Dreamcast version instead of the arcade game? Surprisingly, Soul Calibur originally ran on Namco System 12 hardware, which was an upgrade of the Namco System 11 hardware that itself was based loosely on the original Playstation 1 hardware design. That meant the arcade version of Soul Calibur was actually worse than the Dreamcast version of the game that followed a year later. The Dreamcast version added better visuals and 3D backgrounds, along with a whole bunch of extra features. This was reported to be the first time a console game performed better than the arcade version upon which it was based. Would you do it again? No, and also no. I proved it was possible and built the game I wanted in the way I wanted. And it plays great and looks cool. But it cost too much time and money. I learned a lot, and that was invaluable, so I recommend it on that level. Practically speaking, however, there's really no justification to do something like this again unless the market just completely fails to produce the products we want. Anyway, thanks to anyone who made it this far. I have a lot more pics and some video, and am happy to answer any questions. I also want to thank all of the vendors who helped make this happen, as well as the kind words from PDubs and other supporters along the way. So, now it's your turn, Arcade1Up... bring us the XLs! I'd like 3 or 4 USB C ports. Been looking at portable power banka, and they all have like 1 or 2, and SOME have 3, but don't tick the boxes in other areas, or have enough capacity.
I was checking out the DJI Power500, which looks sweet, especially the battery speed charger, but it only has 2 type C ports, and I don't necessarily NEED 500w output, althout it'd be nice. I like the price and the look of it as well. It's a great unit, one of the better, actually. But, just like others, it falls short in USB C ports.
I don't get why they are so short on ports, I'd give up the USB A ports for more C. I don't really use USB A for anything anymore. All my devices, drones, and power bricks, and USB drives, portable SSDs, etc, all use or came with dual type C or type C/proprietary connector.
Most power banks also never put much wattage through the type A ports, either. While it would be annoying needing to carry different cables, if the port could still put out 100w+ through type A, I could deal with that. Anyways, I need one with 3-4 type C ports individually capable of anywhere between 100w to 240w. Anything decent out there that's reliable?
Shame about the power 500, since I really liked that one, too. I guess it makes sense on the big power 1000, since you'll probably be using AC on that mostly, but the 500 is great for small devices and tech. Long story short, a wind storm removed a handful of sections of tin roof allowing rain to leak into my house, which has ruined my dining room and belongings. For back story, it appears as if the dining room was an addition to the original blueprint of the house at some point long before I bought it.
When the contractors were gutting the room, they came across a litany of things not up to current code. A third party engineer came out and inspected it, giving a detailed list of things not up to code/require further inspection.
Direct list of things from the engineer’s report “We observed the following: -The addition framing does not match typical IRC framing methods. Permit research of the property did not show any permits for this type of work. -No hurricane ties are present at the roof rafter bearing. -The exterior wood studs are not continuous to the sill plate and the sill plate is stacked with gaps and offsets. Improper load path at wall framing. -The sill plates are not mechanically fastened to the foundation walls. Additionally, they do not match typical IRC detailing. -The floor joists rest directly on soil. The joists and sheathing are rotting from the top down. -The joists are not mechanically fastened to the foundation wall. -The foundation walls are ungrouted -The following architectural/MEP items were noted: -No apparent vapor barrier below the joists -Not adequate crawl space depth, per IRC code -No crawl space venting, appeared to be damp conditions below floor system -Floor and wall finishes appeared compromised due to the inability of proper air flow. -Unclear how the roof would be vented – if unvented, improper insulation techniques utilized -The roof slopes and roof intersections between them, as well as at the chimney, present inadequate water paths for drainage -Juncture of asphalt roofing to metal roofing is missing a high/low transition strip, therefore relying on adhesive sealants – prone to failure”

I’m genuinely curious, because section 3 below makes me feel as if I’m entitled to utilize that portion of the policy given that I pay for it. The following text is directly from my insurance policy, specifically the law and ordinance subsection.

I (31 F) and my fiance (30 M) have been together for 11 years out of which we been living together for 9.5 years. For most of our relationship he has been the one making the most money and there were long periods of times where I was without a job and he supported us. I always showed my love and support by doing most of the house chores and attending to his needs to the point of even getting up at 5 am to make him breakfast and iron his shirts. And whenever I had any money I always gave it to him for bills. When I finally got a stable minimum wage job we started dividing the house bills but I kept doing most of the house chores. I would always save up as much as I could and he would always ask me to borrow the money for some stock or crypto coin he wanted to invest in. Most of the time all of that money was gone by the end of the month and he always got into debt trying to flip some money around dreaming of becoming rich with a click. For some reason he was always able to make money for his friends (one of his friends was able to buy a house thanks to him) but he just seemed to fail at making us money. That was until 2019, apparently in 2019 he was able to flip some crypto and had over 300,000 usd worth on crypto coins. He only had access to this coins on the only computer we owned. In 2020 I was talking some coding courses because I am sick and tired of working minimum wage jobs, but unfortunately I needed a computer as clases were all virtual so I had to use the only computer we owned. One of the courses required me to use a system that was not compatible with the computer system we had so I tried to update it and the computer crashed. We lost everything we had in the computer including the 300k.
After this incident I felt so guilty and I wanted to pay it back although I know on my minimum wage job I’ll never be able to. So my fiance had the great idea to create his own crypto project. This year I had enough and I filed for consumer proposal. It’s only been a month and I already have 700 saved up. I feel such relief and I’m planning on getting a security license as the IT sector is overtaken by Indians and is a job in demand. My fiance also wants to do it but he wants me to pay for his as hi still has all the debt he got himself into and barely has any money for bills. Every time we have money disagreements he blames them on me as I was the one who broke the computer and he claims if he would of still had that money he would never had started the project (the project was his new idea of becoming rich ).
So now I just feel like I have gone through enough hardship for the 300k I “lost” him and I should only be responsible for paying half of the house bills. But at the same time I do love my fiance and feel the obligation to help him financially.

I have 32k in federal student loans that I pay $116 a month for, I’m not really worried about those but I unfortunately got sucked into private loans. It took me 5 years to get my degree, I had to retake a class and with COVID things got a bit delayed.
I had Sallie Mae loans and my interest rate was 13.75% and I deferred payment all throughout school… keep in mind I even went to a state school and commuted 2 out of 3 years even though I lived an hour and a half away. My grand total for private loans was 128k that I have gotten down to 117k at a refinanced of 6.2% rate… 5.95% on autopay. I started aggressively paying them within the last 9 months and I pay $1,500 a month. I also have a car payment of $550 and my insurance is $140 a month. Those are all of my bills.
I make $46 an hour and clear roughly $4,200 a month without any overtime. Im considering graduate school to become a nurse practitioner. I don’t want to do bedside nursing forever, but I don’t want these loans to hold me pay. I would strongly prefer NOT to defer on my private loans while in graduate school, I still want to keep making payments. My job will pay $5,000 a year and I can take 1 glass at a time up until I get to clinicals so that will make it more affordable. Also the university I want to go too is affiliated with my hospital system so I will get 25% off tuition, plus I can apply for scholarships at my job and potential school. NP school with no scholarships or tuition reimbursement is about 38k for the entire program.
I know I have a lot of debt… it’s super overwhelming but I’m living at home for a very very long time and I’m trying to do the right thing and make this situation right for myself. Becoming an NP I would get at least a 20k bonus on my salary off the bat just as a starting salary.
What do you guys think? I wouldn’t take out any loans for grad school and go slowly so I can pay for it and obtain scholarships while still paying down my private student loans. Is it worth?

There have been plenty of posts around of people wanting to have a stratagem call in or something along the lines to be able to refill the mechs, for good reason! They're fun, and really good at their strengths (shredding through chaff and medium armor, with the occasional heavy at a hefty ammo cost) but eventually the bullets run dry and fun hose stops delivering fun at 6000 rounds/min.
Once the bullets run out, mechs aren't much more than a really expensive decoy, or maybe a slightly faster way around the map for heavy armor enthusiasts, and with a hefty cooldown, there can be considerable time between the fun. We've had countless posts at this point asking for either buffs to the mechs to make them stronger for the short uptime or to make their uptime better by way of being able to resupply their ammo. I'm personally in favor of the latter, as its both in line with other stratagems (support weapons, other than EATs, have long cooldowns but can be fed by ammo/resupply bricks between cooldowns) and you get to spend more time doing the fun, blasting the shit out of bugs/bots in a big ol mech.
To borrow from a favorite youtuber of mine, I'll go over what (I think) we could do, then go over why we do it.
This is a multi part system, partially to leave room for it to interact with other vehicles/stratagems in theory
Its not super free either, someone has to take a stratagem and dedicate a backpack slot to it (granted, you could just not call in the pack until you need it, but dealer's choice in that regard), so I don't think it would push vehicles too too out of line, but still allow for mech enjoyers to be able to lean harder into using their mechs

- Holds an amount of charges, personally I think 1, that can be expended to refill a vehicle weapon, similarly to the resupply backpack for helldivers
- Would take a considerable amount of ammunition to refill, multiple resupply bricks and/or a substantial number of ammo bricks (for implementation's sake, maybe have the bar on the hud be multiple segments, but you can only resupply with a full pack, or maybe have it be up to 100% refill scaling to how full the backpack is)
- Distinctly not mechanically identical to the resupply backpack in terms of usage, specifics I'll get to later
- Vehicle specific "stratagem codes"
- Each vehicle will have a stratagem code that corresponds to one of their weapons
- For example, the Patriot exosuit would have a code for the rocket arm, and a code for the gatling arm
- Whether or not the code is unique or not I'm not too sure of, would the gatling arm of the Patriot have the same code as the (right) AC arm of the Emancipator?
- For example, the Patriot exosuit would have a code for the rocket arm, and a code for the gatling arm
- Punching in this code would... open up(?) the weapon bay, allowing for the ammunition storage to be removed (taking out the ammo box, missile rack, or whatever appropriate for the weapon) or possibly just straight up ejecting the "magazine" empty or not

I have gotten back into burnout paradise lately and have been thinking about how awful the DLC cars are. I don't mean that they perform poorly, the opposite actually, but that is a problem. The DLC cars required no effort to unlock other than buying them as DLC (though they come free with remastered).
They are extremely unbalanced and greatly overshadow the other cars in the game that you have to put effort into unlocking. When BP first came out, the best cars were the last ones to unlock by playing offline, but after the DLC cars you could just pay $5 to get the GT nighthawk, the strongest car in the game that also has the fastest acceleration and excellent handling and top speed. Why would you waste time unlocking cars that are slower and worse than the nighthawk? The nighthawk is also a jack of all trades, master of all situation. In the base game, you had to choose a car that suited how you wanted to drive (raw speed, handling and maneuverability for stunts, strength/weight for takedowns, there were also in between options). However, the nighthawk is hands down the best all-rounder. Every online lobby has over 50% of people driving the nighthawk. The existence of this car ruins balance and diversity of vehicle selection.
Another big issue I have with the DLC cars are that ONLY 1 is actually a new car (the dust storm). I wont count the Olympus and Raj-jin Turbo since they were free and only available while playing online for some reason. All others are just variants of existing cars and their introductions don't really add anything to the game. It would have been much better to see less DLC cars but new additions that were actually new never before seen cars. There are so many cars that I would have loved to see a version of in BP.
Speaking of variants, I HATE how BP has the burning route system where you win another car, but it is just the exact same car with a different livery, tweaked stats, or sometimes a direct upgrade or in some cases, a direct downgrade. I think it would have been better to just have only one of each car and unlock new liveries instead. They could have also added unlockable "tuning packages" that alter the car's stats. Some could be direct and significant upgrades that are unlocked late game to keep cars unlocked early on competitive with late game cars.
Lastly, I just don't think the DLC cars "fit in" BP. I know the game is not at all realistic with the ramps everywhere and cars falling 100 feet and not being damaged and the fact that the entire city has an uncanny valley vibe with the city and the cars that move but no people in the cars or anywhere. However, I think BP should have focused on real world cars rather than tiny toy cars, hovercrafts, space alien technology cars, and the overpowered GT nightshit. That doesn't fit with the base game.
Overall, I'm really disappointed with how the burnout paradise DLC turned out. However, I LOVE big surf island even though all the unlockable cars with it are -you guessed it- VARIANTS.
Things I would have preferred as DLC as opposed to the GT nightshit and all other shitty variants: rain, additional map expansions, more game modes (I actually like cops and robbers, at least when I don't have to play against someone with invincibility cheats on), Cars and Bikes TOGETHER, and more in game versions of real world cars.

Hi there! Been really struggling in my senior policy analyst role (came from a different sector a year and a half ago). Been reflecting on what doesn’t seem suited for me in my role:
-public speaking (project management type group facilitation, communicating with stakeholders) -writing (ND - takes a lot of energy and focus) -lots of meetings
I’m neurodivergent and realizing that these tasks are incredibly draining for me to the point where I’m unable to do anything after work except for scroll mindlessly on my phone. I’m able to mask well enough to be “performing well” according to my direct supervisor, but I am having intense anxiety. I recognize that these tasks are inherent to most policy roles, so I’m wondering if I should leave the sector altogether? I’ve talked to my boss about accommodations and they’ve been extremely supportive but I still think the tasks that are challenging for me are inherent to the role.
I really do like systems level planning and I seem to be better at roles that are more structured. Are there any policy roles (or policy adjacent) in any ministry that are: - a bit more structured (set systems and procedures in place) -doesn’t require any public speaking with external stakeholders -isn’t overly writing intensive?
I know this list seems far fetched, but really hoping to get some advice before leaving the policy sector for good.

Im about two weeks into a breakup. I was the dumper. We were together 1.5 years. 95% of the time, it was great—he was so loyal, interested in me, committed, prioritized me. I had no doubts I was part of his future. He uplifted my appearance, I felt good physically. He spoke highly of me to his loved ones, showed me off, put serious effort with me. 5% of the time—we’d argue, have unresolved issues. Issues became his way or the highway, and when I disagreed I was blamed and would have to agree with him. I made him upset enough, he would say really hurtful things, and blame me as the reason he was saying those things. There was no remorse, or apologies for being hurtful. I would frequently be criticized, including for my ADHD traits. It escalated to him threatening suicide over me setting the boundary of not tolerating put downs.
The relationship was complicated, because he didn’t believe I loved him. I did, but I didn’t feel emotionally secure in the relationship knowing I was with someone who was willing to hurt my feelings. Working with a therapist, I see the relationship was unhealthy and emotionally abusive. He’s had the same therapist for many years.
I walked away, and it was the hardest thing I ever did. The image of it still haunts me. He thinks I did it because I didn’t want to change, and the reality is I just grew too resentful to even think. I Couldn’t take another put down, and him justifying it. Despite his frequents disagreements with me during conflict, at the end he told me wanted me to be willing to work through our issues.
Now I’m on social media, and I keep seeing the content that’s like “someone who is worth it will stay”, “if they really loved you they wouldn’t give up”, etc. These phrases and ideas make me second guess my decision. I feel so much doubt that I didn’t try enough, that I gave up, that he could’ve changed. I did love him, and I feel so awful without him. I regret how being resentful made me as a girlfriend, I was not the best partner I could’ve been to him, I know he deserved better than that. I knew I was hurting him with my reactive behavior, and that was another reason for leaving. I wish I could do something. I have been crying every day, and have so much guilt because I’m the dumper, and I quit. The grief is excruciating. And part of me holds onto hope. I wouldn’t have left if It wasn’t taking such a toll on me.

I have always been scared of the dark.
Growing up, my mom would leave the light on in the next room or a nitelight. These would cast a yellowish lighting on my wall and ceiling. I still felt scared and a small presence watching me.
However, if a TV was on in the next room, it would caster a whitebluer color onto my wall. And for some reason it would make me feel safer and more secure.
As an adult, I still feel the same way, I sleep better with those daylight bulbs in the hallway with the door cracked in my room with just a little bit of the light peaking through the gap. The yellow/softwhite bulbs and lighting make it harder for me to sleep.
Is there some kind of ancesterorial trait? Am I just weird? I’m probably just weird…

I've been listening to Marielda to check out the podcast and I've been enjoying it. I just finished episode 3 which is the first episode using Blades in the Dark. My question is do they get better at the game? Now, for qualifiers. I don't believe Actual Play performers need to have perfect understanding of the rules of a game to play them or that they can't change rules. Nor do I think I'm the perfect rule understander, or that I've never made fundamental rules mistakes without ever noticing, or that I could do an Actual Play better. Nor do I believe that their game is inherently being harmed or invalidated by their different understanding of the rules. And I understand that this is likely their first time playing the game. What's most important in an RPG is obviously that all players (GM included) are on the same page and feel the game is fair which they obviously do.
The rules of which I'm referring are the Resistance Rolls and Action Rolls.
At a point in this episode the GM says the train conductor is suspicious and that they begin interrogating Hitchcock and that the player must make a resistance roll. The issue there being that player can never be forced to make a resistance roll, resistance rolls negate consequences and are always a player choice. The GM is correct that he may make a consequence even without it being in direct response to an action roll and he is correct that he decides what attribute would be used in a situation to resist, but he may not tell the player to make a resist roll, only that the player may if they would like to avoid the consequence (and the mistake makes a lot of sense because when resistance rolls are first mentioned in the book it sounds like this is how they work and their true nature is only revealed 20 pages later). This sounds pedantic, but if a GM tells the player to roll something, especially if you're doing a show, it makes sense to just do it. However resistance rolls can cost an obscene amount of stress and are the most likely way to gain trauma, not to mention sometimes players will just think it'd be fun to just take the consequence, so it's in players hands for good reason.
And throughout the whole episode the GM calls for rolls by their action, something the player is supposed to get to do. Basically the normal Blades procedure is the player tries to do something, in response the GM says a roll will be needed for that to be successful, in response the player chooses the action they would like to use, in response the GM says what the position and effect will be for that action. At which time the player may use any number of their options to change position or effect or they may decide to do a different action with a different position and effect. But in the episode the player attempts something in the fiction, in response the GM tells them what to roll, which the player then puts into the website and realizes that they don't have position and effect, the GM tells them, then the player puts the rest of the information in and rolls. This might also sound pedantic, but without the back and forth there's no chance for a player to rethink their action in response to learning the position and effect (they didn't choose the action in the first place so no reason to think they could now) or to use their tools for changing position and effect like trading position for effect (they're already just trying to roll the dice they were told to roll).
Now with that all out of the way. I just want to know if they change their play to more closely resemble the rules, and if so, when? I don't know if they record in big batches so I don't know if they even get stuff like rules information between episodes. And if the answer is "No, in fact their use of the rules gets worse" I'll still watch some more because the reveal at the end of the episode was so fun. The rules of which I'm referring are the Resistance Rolls and Action Rolls.
At a point in this episode the GM says the train conductor is suspicious and that they begin interrogating Hitchcock and that the player must make a resistance roll. The issue there being that player can never be forced to make a resistance roll, resistance rolls negate consequences and are always a player choice. The GM is correct that he may make a consequence even without it being in direct response to an action roll and he is correct that he decides what attribute would be used in a situation to resist, but he may not tell the player to make a resist roll, only that the player may if they would like to avoid the consequence (and the mistake makes a lot of sense because when resistance rolls are first mentioned in the book it sounds like this is how they work and their true nature is only revealed 20 pages later). This sounds pedantic, but if a GM tells the player to roll something, especially if you're doing a show, it makes sense to just do it. However resistance rolls can cost an obscene amount of stress and are the most likely way to gain trauma, not to mention sometimes players will just think it'd be fun to just take the consequence, so it's in players hands for good reason.
And throughout the whole episode the GM calls for rolls by their action, something the player is supposed to get to do. Basically the normal Blades procedure is the player tries to do something, in response the GM says a roll will be needed for that to be successful, in response the player chooses the action they would like to use, in response the GM says what the position and effect will be for that action. At which time the player may use any number of their options to change position or effect or they may decide to do a different action with a different position and effect. But in the episode the player attempts something in the fiction, in response the GM tells them what to roll, which the player then puts into the website and realizes that they don't have position and effect, the GM tells them, then the player puts the rest of the information in and rolls. This might also sound pedantic, but without the back and forth there's no chance for a player to rethink their action in response to learning the position and effect (they didn't choose the action in the first place so no reason to think they could now) or to use their tools for changing position and effect like trading position for effect (they're already just trying to roll the dice they were told to roll).
Now with that all out of the way. I just want to know if they change their play to more closely resemble the rules, and if so, when? I don't know if they record in big batches so I don't know if they even get stuff like rules information between episodes. And if the answer is "No, in fact their use of the rules gets worse" I'll still watch some more because the reveal at the end of the episode was so fun. Now that MultiVersus has returned, there is debate as to whether the game arrived with either positive or negative additions to the now fully finished, polished, and launched game. Many argue that the new mechanics have actually improved on the gameplay from the Open Beta alongside other neat additions, while others argue that the execution of the Beta versions gameplay amongst other details were remarkably better than the excuse for a finished game in these people's minds. In my opinion, the Open Beta beats the Official Game "quality" by a huge landslide, and here is why I believe that.
The coloring of the opponent and allies team color on the fighters looks atrocious and weird.
The game has crashed and disconnected over 20 times due to lag that will come at you even if you had the best Wi-Fi and/or Internet on the planet. They really should have prioritized working on the netcode instead of ruining the fluidity of the Open Betas gameplay.
If they were trying to make the graphics better with Unreal Engine 5, they failed miserably! Everything looks shiny and gross compared to the Open Betas graphics. "Work Smarter Not Harder" I guess.
The new dash attacks feel very clunky most of the time.
The scrapped Guilds mode sounds a lot better than Rifts mode. They are more or less the same, but the details about Guilds sound much more interesting than what we got in Rifts.
You cannot play as characters you don't own in offline modes such as "The Lab." (They took out the Training map from the game too)
People are missing the characters they purchased with real money???
The characters are so huge now and need to be their original size in the Beta.
Hopefully everything gets fixed, as I do want the game to succeed and be in the greatest state it can be because right now, everything is a dumpsterfire compared to the very low lows of the Open Beta days. - "The Camera Zoom And Slow Paced Gameplay:" A lot of people seem to be aware of the camera zoom system that was implemented in MultiVersus (Which by the way, cannot be modified to where it is completely gone), alongside the dramatically slower movement. It seems that a possible reason for why Player First Games included this monstrosity of an addition was because of players reporting the spam of attacks in matches alongside the seemingly way too swift gameplay, which of course lead to Player First Games including the previously mentioned implementations in the relaunch, thinking that players would "think outside the box" with attacks when playing. Back in the Open Beta days, there was a little something called "Attack Decay!" Sounds wonderful right? Well, my friend, here is a description of this glorious mechanic; Attack Decay basically made opponents attempts at spamming attacks utterly useless! This mechanic rewarded players who were already thinking creatively when utilizing their fighters moveset splendidly, but it seems that everyone at Player First Games thought that this aid for players who aren't spamming the same move forgot its existence to where it is M.I.A in the Official Game. About the fast-paced gameplay, let me present a question; Do you really prefer the new slow-paced gameplay, or the way the movement worked in the Open Beta? The movement was arguably floaty during the Beta days, but you would think that the gameplay that for the most part did not need any fixing whatsoever (in most peoples eyes) would be perfected by only editing the very small grievances and glitches in this way of playing the game, right? Nope; we would instead get gameplay that really shows the transparency of the playable characters not fitting in the new gameplay style at all (Iron Giants meets the Dexter's Laboratory Map for example) that seemingly only a small portion of players seem to be content with. I am willing to bet that if a dedicated fighting game enthusiast were to playtest both the Open Beta and Official Game versions of MultiVersus, the enthusiast would prefer the Open Beta's almost near perfect fluidity that was fun to participate in compared to the clunkiness of the Official Game that feels like a chore to play through after a couple of matches.
- "The Corporate Similarities To Other Free To Play Games:" From the removal of the beautifully drawn 2D renders in game to make way for the ugliest 3D renders, to the layout of the Fighters menu quite literally being the FTP Battle Royale Locker, to the exclusion of a proper fighting game character select screen, almost everything about the new UI for MultiVersus screams "Fortnite" and "Stumble Guys'" unoriginality instead of a celebration of a company's Intellectual Properties with colorful, vivid, and creative design that actually was in the Open Beta. When you launch a game like Super Smash Bros or any MARVEL VS. CAPCOM game besides Infinite, you can feel the authentic love and passion poured into every single aspect of the game. When you log on MultiVersus, you are bombarded with microtransactions that probably cost as much as a wedding ring when accumulated together. Adding to these problems, fighters who should be carefully selected and handpicked with the intent of being well thought-out inclusions to the roster are treated like the average skin that adds no value to the gameplay in the average FTP game. So many people are fine with the idea of MultiVersus having an infinite number of character slots and franchises one day that could give Fortnite's colossal library of franchises a run for its money, but has anyone thought about the example of not having every participant in a baseball game receiving the big trophy, as well as keeping the roster at a reasonable limit to avoid having the roster the same size as a MultiVersus fan roster on DeviantArt? We have characters like Banana Guard before Scooby Doo, Samurai Jack, and many other characters who are objectively better picks for a celebration of Warner Bros as a whole; and yes, every good fighting game has a good selection of joke characters, but MultiVersus has not even reached the excellence of other platform fighters with their current strategy (putting emphasis on the most laughable and unnecessary aspects of a game) to add a joke character in a roster that has missing combatants that are way more important to Warner Bros history. But hey, Warner Bros and Player First Games have to make that green paper somehow, and they more than likely don't care about the fact that adding a "Passion Project" like Banana Guard before Daffy Duck is a massive slap to the face to people who want beloved characters added to the game that are not treated as muses to sell rubbish.

I went to a therapist over a decade ago but they seemed to only talk to the clock and shared nothing useful. I mostly just rambled on for 2 to 3 sessions incoherently to vent out frustration from my system. I could do that on my own. Over time, I met a few people who got me…. And that was alleviating.
Recently, my sister went through something traumatic along with a friend. I am trying to help them have a better journey than what I struggled with. Any tips?

Hello, and thank you for considering my request. I am looking to, hopefully, get a copy of Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, the second to most recent entry in the Guilty Gear series (unless you wanna count that pachinko game).
Guilty Gear is a fighting game franchise that acts as the flagship franchise for Arc System Works. The games take place in an alternate history where Y2K actually happened, which led to the ban of technology by the United Nations and the incorporation of magic-based technology in its' stead. This lead to the creation of "Gears", effectively genetically engineered magic super soldiers. One such Gear is the protagonist, Sol Badguy, who was also on the team that created the Gears in the first place, where he effectively acted as the prototype to them. And though my explanation sounds relatively normal, the lore in full gets utterly insane and I highly recommend watching a lore explanation video about it (WoolyVersus' "Heaven or Hell" series for a more accurate telling, RimmyDownunder for a less accurate but more funny telling)
I'd fallen in love with ArcSys' work after I played BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle so many years ago, and continued to love their other games such as the previous BlazBlue games, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Persona 4 Arena, and most of all, Guilty Gear Strive, the current most recent game in the franchise. Strive is currently my second most played game on Steam and I do not regret a second of it. It's an incredibly fun game with interesting characters, an amazing soundtrack, beautiful graphics that mimic 2D Fighting Games with 3D models, and is simple enough for new players to get a handle on while also being complex enough that even after all my time, I have a LONG way to go before I'll even be considered "decent" at the game. Not to mention the incredible modding community the game has.
So, when I heard the previous game, Xrd, was even better than Strive, it got me excited. And with the game going on sale for $10, I thought it'd be the perfect chance to get into it. Unfortunately, with my troubles finding a job, I was unable to scrounge up even the cheap price to buy the game. If anyone would be willing to buy it for me, I'd be very grateful.
