2024.05.21 15:30 Dragons-FollyDRG [FC][LFM][Midgardsormr] Dragon’s Folly. Join our brood!

Dragon’s Folly is about finding the absurd in reason. We welcome all beings to our Thunder and hope you can be one of our broodlings or clutchlings. Our goal is to have fun and make friends. We take things seriously, but we are silly while doing it. (We really don’t take things that seriously)
Join our Thunder! Dragon's Folly is a laid back and growing Free Company looking for members to grow with us. We are primarily a social/casual FC and not currently running Savage/Extreme/Ultimate content (we do have members that run those!), but welcome all levels of players!
We are all inclusive and all about having a good time. All of our LGBTQ+ siblings are welcome. Every one will always help new players, whether that’s teaching them or running content. No one gets left behind!
We are still pretty small (I prefer the term cozy) and trying to find our footing. If you are willing to give us a chance and grow with us, we can become a fun and close community.
We also run Eureka and Bozja content.
Check out the discord link below if you want to try us out. No pressure to join. Come hang out and get to know us before deciding if we are the right fit. You don't even have to join! You can just chill with us. (Not the Netflix kind)
https://discord.gg/wzRDx5E5ET
What we offer : ✦ Various Buffs (EXP boost, Cheaper TP costs, etc) On a schedule! Working on getting the Rank III buffs for the weekends. ✦ Weekly Events: Maps Every Wednesday! All levels! ✦ Small House in Empyreum. Some members have themed rooms in the House! ✦ Active Discord ✦ Work-Life Balance ✦ Safe Space for all ✦ Veteran Players willing to lend a hand! ✦ Omni-Crafters for your crafting needs ✦ Alt-friendly ✦ Stock of Chocobo food. ✦ No cliques!
What we are looking for : ✦ Friendly & mature adults ✦ Individuals willing to learn & help ✦ Sprouts, Veterans, and anything in between ✦ Semi-Active to Very Active players. We won’t kick members if they decide to take a break. ✦ LGBTQ+ or Allies
Our FC is a safe space for all types of players so we encourage like-minded friendly folk to join! Shoot @SuperNerdDad a DM on Discord or send Gariath Rhega a /tell in game.

2024.05.21 15:13 CastleWentDark 28 [F4M] #Anywhere (Brown Asian girl seeking a serious relationship)

PLEASE READ!!!
Well hello there you, First off… expressing myself is a bit challenging, and.. I have had really bad experiences in the past that ended up making me feel very low about myself.. So, I would say that I have learnt so many lessons between now and then. I now have a clearer idea of the qualities I seek in a serious relationship—a loyal, attractive partner who values mutual respect.
In terms of preferences, I've discovered a fondness for American guys, and their accents are a significant plus. If a connection blossoms, be prepared for a long-distance start. :)
Describing my appearance, I stand at 5ft 1, with a caramel complexion, dark curly hair, and deep brown eyes. While some have called me above average, although I do know that beauty varies from person to person. Here’s me anyways: https://imgur.com/a/TPjJ063
Feel free to reach out if you think we might connect and talk about our interests, etc. However, if you're only looking for an online fling, a casual chat, then kindly stay away.
PS: Please be cute or sexy (age range 25-31) and hit me up with a picture. Anything other than that will be ignored, so don’t even bother yourself. :)

2024.05.21 15:05 SomeJayForToday 27M Looking for someone to show off my plants to and chat the day away.

Heya! After a long and nice self-care Reddit break I decided to hop back on here during this boring early year period at work, I'd love to meet someone great to chat with!
I'm Jay, 27 years old from The Netherlands. I'm big into cooking, drumming, climbing, reading and hiking, and I'm very proud of the plants in my apartment. I'm also an avid collecter of frog-themed gifts since that's what people love giving me for some reason.
I enjoy talking to someone that is also active with hobbies and such fun things, it's nice to know that we both have a life away from our screens.
Alright, I've tried to keep this as brief as possible, I have a habit of turning these things into a wall of text. Feel free to message me!

2024.05.21 15:05 Dalienus Piety Woes & Systems for Encouraging Divine Connection

Howdy y'all. I'm running a homebrew setting that features the Olympian gods as the main divine powers. As such, I decided to lift the Piety rules from Mythic Odysseys of Theros and write up some piety rewards for each god. My initial assumption was that the rules would encourage the PCs to be connected to their gods in some meaningful way and fit the theme of a Greek Epic. In practice, I'm running into some problems. Here's some context:
Here's the problem:
The piety rules are not actively encouraging the characters to care about their god.
Has anyone else run into these problems with the piety system? Am I missing something with how I'm running this? Are there some alternative systems that you've used to encourage PCs to connect with their gods?

2024.05.21 14:58 FarragutCircle Reading The Big Book of Cyberpunk, Week 17

Welcome to Reading The Big Book of Cyberpunk!
Each week we (u/FarragutCircle and u/fanny_bertram) will be reading 5-ish stories from Jared Shurin’s The Big Book of Cyberpunk, which includes a curated selection of cyberpunk stories written from 1950 to 2022! We’ll include synopses of the stories along with links to any legally available online versions we can find. Feel free to read along with us or just stop by and hear our thoughts about some cyberpunk stories to decide if any of them sound interesting to you.
Every once in a while, we reach out to people who have more insight, due to being fans of the author or have some additional context for the story. (Or we just tricked them into it.) So please welcome u/RuinEleint who will be sharing their thoughts on "The Yuletide Cyberpunk Yarn, or Christmas_Eve-117.DIR" by Victor Pelevin!
“Deep Eddy” by Bruce Sterling (published 1993; also available in his collection Ascendancies: The Best of Bruce Sterling)
Deep Eddy is acting as a data courier to the Cultural Critic in Düsseldorf, right as the city goes through a Wende (a sort of anarchist “Purge”).
“The Yuletide Cyberpunk Yarn, or Christmas_Eve-117.DIR” by Victor Pelevin (1996, translated from Russian by Alex Shvartsman)
A corrupt mayor’s computer is infected by a virus that causes chaos in Russia.
“Wonderama” by Bef (1998, translated from Spanish by the author)
Lalo (or is it Eduardo?) wakes up every day in the most awesome life in 1974, but it’s revealed to be a lie and ends tragically.
“comp.basilisk FAQ” by David Langford (1999) (link to story)
A FAQ-style story that clearly describes a bizarre future where images on the web and TV are banned due to the risk of death.
“Spider's Nest” by Myra Çakan (2004, translated from German by Jim Young; also available in the anthology The Apex Book of World SF 3 edited by Lavie Tidhar)
Spider, uh, does something? Is looking for drugs, maybe? But something else happens instead?
That’s it for this week! Check back the same time next week where we’ll be reading and discussing "The Last American" by John Kessel, "Earth Hour" by Ken MacLeod, "Violation of the TrueNet Security Act" by Taiyo Fujii, "Twelve Minutes to Vinh Quang" by T. R. Napper, and "Operation Daniel" by Khalid Kaki.

2024.05.21 14:49 BasicallyBacon Custom Hexblade Paladin Oath - Dope or Nope?

Good morning all fellow DMs! I'm building a new campaign set to start in the next couple of weeks with a party of six adventurers. I see myself running this campaign for an extended period of time in a series of smaller story arcs taking place over the course of a couple months with small breaks between adventures. My party hasn't ever gotten to experience long term campaigns that allow their beloved characters to reach higher levels, so I'm excited to take them there. My players are all good personal friends and I have provided them all with a homebrewed feat to make their characters feel more personal and unique, most of which are just modified versions of existing feats that scale up in level.
That being said, I had discussed with my paladin, who's multiclassing into Hexblade, the idea of a custom oath, which I was all for. What I *thought* I'd receive when I asked for what he had in mind was a basic skeleton off an existing oath with a few cherry-picked features of other oaths that fit the narrative he was trying to tell. On top of the homebrewed feat, I knew this was pushing the limits of things I'd need to keep track of.
What I received instead was a completely custom, built from the ground up oath with a custom aura, two custom Channel Divinities, and a whole host of oath spells that are neither Paladin nor Warlock that, at first glance, seem to be a list of spells and abilities meant to abuse rulings, but I just don't know enough, and I'm seeking advice on the matter from DMs that are simply more seasoned than I am.
Oath of Correction
Tenets of Correction
Oath Spells
Channel Divinity (both)
Aura of Alacrity
Glorious Defense
Living Legend
So there's a lot here that jumps out at me, but know that a lot of it, particularly the parts that include jump height, are very on-theme for the character and have my full support. The things in particular I'm unsure about are spells like Bigby's Hand and Gravity Sinkhole that I can't find reasons for in any of the character's backstory and seem to only exist to abuse the fact that force damage is seldom resisted. Fire Shield is just a zero-counterplay, I-get-more-damage buff who's only purpose is to pump the character's damage. Catnap was included to abuse the fact that Warlocks get spell slots back after a short rest, allowing for all this crap to happen even more often. Silvery Barbs, I know there are a lot of DMs and players that either don't use this spell or straight up disallow it. I'm generally fine with it except in this case where it's not on either classes spell list and I can't find a reason why this character would have it other than it being a powerful spell. Two Channel Divinities, one giving temp HP, surely that's just too much utility, right? Glorious Defense feels like super Sentinel, albeit limited uses, but it feels really strong to just give allies three, four, five AC on a whim and get an attack of opportunity on them.
I'm just.... at a loss for where to go from here. I think it's really cool and I don't at all want to squash player creativity, but the build, when considering I'm a newer DM, seems like it's riddled with little interactions that are meant to take advantage of my awareness and completely break a fight wide open if my prep isn't 110% perfect. And in addition, some of the monsters I've considered to counter this thing would demolish anyone else in the party without hesitation, my party is fighting around CR 4 in the first session, but I don't think there are CR6 monsters that could confidently take this guy alone, but would one-shot the rest of my players. I don't mind that it might be OP so much as the dilemma I'm faced with, do I throw insane fights at my party expecting this Paladin to be a main character and carry the whole thing but could potentially wipe everybody, or do I make five other players just as complicated knowing that I can't keep the plates spinning as is.
Thank you for taking the time to read this early morning barrage of words. I appreciate you all more than could possibly be expressed.

2024.05.21 14:36 reddit_prof Branding / Design Elements

TL;DR - what is available to create logos for use on WP sites with transparent backgrounds. WIth the advent of AI we of course have DALL-E and other things but it tries too hard. I'd like something that i can create nice, clean, crisp logos that are scalable. Even better if there is a way to do oit for free or low cost.
---
This may well belong in a sub more suited to design but we we are primarily implementing WP sites i'll try anyway.
The creative side of Wordpress deployment has never been my strongest skill; my background is in infrastructure, performance and monitoring etc. and i rely heavily on a good theme to make a site pop. I'm comfortable adding some things like CSS or creating a child theme and OK with some coding pieces but the more i do the more i find myself asking the question "what can i offer for branding".
More often than not the client already has a logo / colour palette ready to go however it's 50/50 whether they have the logo etc in a format that is decent quality, is transparent / vector etc.

2024.05.21 14:05 Crafty_Tangelo_6886 Devastated after breakdown of a situationship

I (25M) got broken up with my ex (24M) 6 months ago, I took the time to heal from it - but deep down I knew the relationship was over long before we broke up.
2 months ago I started to see a guy, with no intention of a relationship. But we blossomed together and whilst never exclusive we were dating with the intention of getting together. I worked hard to make sure I didn’t make the same mistakes I did before. I kept in regular contact with my friends, saw my family often, kept up my hobbies and started new ones too, I didn’t jump too quickly into anything, I didn’t meet every time I had free time.
But it wasn’t enough, some trauma on his part understandably meant he was drifting away in terms of wanting to have sex. Then within two weeks it all came crumbling down in a way I haven’t been able to stop crying about. He first thought he might have to move from the same city (due to housing arrangements), to 6 hrs away with family, but after some thought he wanted to stay - and called me to affirm this. Then literally a few days later he was told he’s being made redundant. So really he has to move away now - and I completely understand.
I am just so so devastated by this. He was everything I wanted in a partner, and it seems like now he’s pulling away from being friends - although I might be reading into this too much now haha.
When I was dating him my life felt complete - like the final piece was in place, and now it’s been ripped out.
The one good thing from this is it’s reaffirmed just how much I don’t want to be with my ex haha - he still remains blocked on my phone!

Demus works within the strict limitations of the YouTube API. Playing requires a constant internet connection. No media content is stored on your device and therefore neither downloading nor offline playback is supported. All playback is done through an integrated Safari-like view.
Do music artists still get paid?
Yes! Listening to any song in my app counts as a view on the YouTube website and will therefore generate per-stream revenue to the artist.
How do you make money from your app when it's free with no ads?
There is an optional one-time in-app purchase which gives you access to some cool features such as color themes, app icons, and more advanced listening statistics.
Can it support iOS 16 and lower?
Demus uses the latest and most up-to-date frameworks which are sadly not supported on older versions of iOS. But fear not, my app will be waiting for you when you upgrade!
How about an Android version?
I am actively working on porting Demus to Android. It should be available later this year!

2024.05.21 13:56 tHeOctane32 WordPress vs. Webflow: Which Platform is Right for Your Project?

Hey WebDevMauritius community,
I want to spark a discussion on a topic that often comes up among web developers and designers: WordPress vs. Webflow. Both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses, and choosing the right one can significantly impact the success of your project. Let’s dive into the pros and cons of each to help you decide which might be the better fit for your next website.

WordPress

Pros:
  1. Flexibility and Customization: WordPress is incredibly versatile. With thousands of themes and plugins available, you can customize your site to fit almost any need, from blogs and portfolios to e-commerce stores and membership sites.
  2. Large Community and Support: Being one of the most popular CMS platforms, WordPress has a vast community. This means plenty of tutorials, forums, and third-party support to help you solve any issues you might encounter.
  3. SEO-Friendly: WordPress is built with SEO in mind. Plugins like Yoast SEO make it easy to optimize your content and improve your site’s search engine rankings.
  4. Cost-Effective: WordPress itself is free, and many themes and plugins are available at no cost. Even with premium options, it’s generally more affordable than many other platforms.
Cons:
  1. Learning Curve: While powerful, WordPress can be daunting for beginners. Understanding how to effectively use themes, plugins, and manage updates requires some learning.
  2. Maintenance: Regular updates and maintenance are essential to keep your site secure and running smoothly. This can be time-consuming, especially if you’re managing multiple sites.
  3. Performance: Depending on your theme and plugins, WordPress sites can sometimes suffer from performance issues. Optimizing for speed and performance often requires additional effort.

Webflow

Pros:
  1. Design Freedom: Webflow offers a visual, drag-and-drop interface that allows for precise control over the design. It’s great for designers who want to create visually stunning websites without writing code.
  2. Built-In Hosting: Webflow includes fast and secure hosting as part of its service. This eliminates the need to find and manage a separate hosting provider.
  3. No Plugins Required: Many features that require plugins in WordPress are built directly into Webflow. This can simplify the development process and reduce potential security vulnerabilities.
  4. CMS Capabilities: Webflow’s CMS is user-friendly and flexible, allowing you to create custom content structures that can be easily managed by clients.
Cons:
  1. Cost: Webflow’s pricing can be higher compared to WordPress, especially for larger projects or e-commerce sites. While it offers a lot of value, the cost might be a consideration for budget-conscious projects.
  2. Learning Curve: While Webflow’s interface is intuitive for designers, it still has a learning curve, particularly for those not familiar with web design principles.
  3. Limited Community: While growing, Webflow’s community and support resources are not as extensive as WordPress's. Finding specific solutions or custom integrations might be more challenging.

Conclusion

Choosing between WordPress and Webflow largely depends on your specific project needs and your personal or team’s skill set. If you need a highly customizable, scalable platform with a vast array of plugins, WordPress might be the way to go. If you’re a designer looking for maximum control over your site’s design without diving deep into code, Webflow could be the better choice.
Have you used WordPress, Webflow, or both? What has your experience been like? Let’s discuss the pros and cons, share tips, and help each other make the best choice for our projects!
Looking forward to your insights!

2024.05.21 13:42 DaFranzi Newbie questions about renfair ticket prices, Elfia, MSP, and Germany/EU recommendations

I'm a total renfaire newbie but I've been looking to go to some events where you can dress up fantasy style and just have fun. I've been looking into renfaires, medieval markets, fantasy balls, etc.
I'm from southern Germany and I had the issue that most things i found are just medieval, not fantasy, themed. A lot of festivals also seem to focus mainly on the music (fantasy, celtic, metal type bands), which I honestly don't care that much about. I mainly want to go for the atmosphere, seeing other people's costumes and cosplays, browsing cute trinket stores, having some good food, maybe meeting some new people etc.
I noticed that there is a spectaculum (MSP) in Speyer, which would be close to me, but the tickets are almost 70 euros for one day, which seems absurd, because afaik you still have to pay for food, attractions, etc. or am I wrong? I saw that the Elfia in the Netherlands is only around 40 euros in comparison, which i still think is quite expensive, but it seems a lot more reasonable.
Is 70 euros a normal price? How is that justified (serious question, maybe I'm missing something that's included in the price)? And does anyone have any other, cheaper recommendations in Germany, or any neighbouring countries? I'm fine with something smaller, as long as it's fantasy, not just medieval, and has many people dressing up (I want to be able to dress up as something like a fairy/kobold/hobbit/... without getting weird looks). I'm considering Elfia, but it's quite far, so I would have to pay quite some money for the train, and accommodation, so I want to be pretty sure that it's what I'm looking for. Also feel free to point me to different subreddits, if there are any that are more fitting for this.
