Why make both Aftermath endings canon?

2024.05.20 03:40 Warning-Significant Why make both Aftermath endings canon?

Mortal Kombat 1 was supposed to follow Liu Kang's ending and serve as a "hard" reboot that starts a brand new story, but halfway through, Aftermath's Shang Tsung is not only revealed to be alive, but that his battle with Liu Kang created a multiverse where every Mortal Kombat 11 character's ending had become canon (including Shang Tsung's Aftermath ending).
A lot of people seem to be disappointed because, technically speaking, this is just a continuation of Aftermath.
Me, my biggest problem is how much of a wasted opportunity Shang Tsung's ending could've been. As you know ( assuming you got his ending: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX-_6WFt0ug ), Shang Tsung's Aftermath ending had Shang Tsung defeating Liu Kang, absorbing his soul, and creating his New Era. He then launches a conquest across all the realms; according to Raiden and Fujin, Earthrealm, Outworld, Netherrealm, and (the unmentioned) Edenia had been conquered, with only Chaosrealm and Orderrealm remaining.
Now, considering how Chaosrealm and Orderrealm have hardly been explored since Deception, I thought up the perfect idea: a Mortal Kombat hack-and-slash in the style of Dynasty Warriors ( I even created my own page on Game Ideas Wiki: https://gameideas.fandom.com/wiki/Mortal_Kombat_Warriors ). And thus, while MK1 would canonically continue Liu Kang's Aftermath ending, Mortal Kombat Warriors would serve as a "What If...?" scenario and continue Shang Tsung's ending, and the main characters would be Tecmo Koei/Omega Force-developed Mortal Kombat characters (kind of like Hyrule Warriors ( https://koei.fandom.com/wiki/Hyrule_Warriors ) and Fire Emblem Warriors ( https://koei.fandom.com/wiki/Fire_Emblem_Warriors )). While the story starts of with a war between Chaosrealm and Orderrealm in the first act, the following acts would involve both realms fighting against Shang Tsung and his army (including (but NOT limited to) Raiden, Fujin, Kano, Baraka, Scorpion, Reptile, Quan Chi, Goro, Mileena, and Sindel), thus the forces of Chaosrealm and Orderrealm would not only be forced to team up to survive, they would also work together with the heroic MK characters we know and love (including (but NOT limited to) Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Jax, Kitana, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, and Nightwolf). But now, with MK1 confirming that BOTH Aftermath ending not happened at the same time--but also crossed over--my idea can no longer be applicable, and feel that this is the BIGGEST missed opportunity in Mortal Kombat history.
Why make BOTH Aftermath endings canon instead of just Liu Kang's?
(And PLEASE answer the question (even "I don't know" qualifies as an answer). Do NOT just leave dis/likes.)

2024.05.16 10:57 MichaelAftonXFireWal My version of The Finale of Red vs Blue.

Quick Summary:

This post will contain spoilers for both Season 15, and Restoration.
With the release of Restoration, Red vs Blue has finally come to an end, and it was a pretty solid ending for the most part amid a few flaws here and there, but most I think would agree it was a Satisfying ending. However as I said before it has a few problems. One being is that we don't know if Restoration actually happend, or if it's also a simulation much like The Shisno Trilogy, and Zero.
Secondly even though some people didn't like The Shisno Trilogy retconing it removes all of the major delevompment certain characters went through. Such as Grif, Donut, and Washington. I think The Shisno Trilogy defenitntly handled their characters better then Restoration did. So I'm going to give my version of what happend after the battle on The Staff of Charon, and see if we can fix some of the mistakes of both The Shisno Trilogy, and Restoration.

Season 15 Prelude:

So in my rewrite I'm going to have both Season 15, and Restoration happen, but there will be some tweeks, and changes added to them. One such change will be Tucker's descent into becoming The New Meta, rather then it just happening offscreen. We see this through Tucker behaving much more differently then he normally would. He often gets angry for unknown reasons, or behaves more violently then he normally would. All of this is a result of him being influinced by both Sigma, and Omega. Personally I think Omega would help Sigma with his goals as long as Sigma gave Omega something in return.

Season 15:

Now let's get into the actual Season. So Season 15 Episode 1 Prolouge goes the same as it does in the original, with The Blues and Reds attacking a UNSC base, and killing everyone there. Dylan Andrews then does her report with Frank, she deciedes to track The Reds and Blues down, Frank is replace by Jax, and together they head to Blood Gulch, meet sister, and VIC, Dylan makes a deal with VIC that he will give her "Three wishes", and then she, and Jax go to Sidewinder, meet Specncer, and Encounter The Blues and Reds. So far Season 15 seems to be going exactaly the same as it did before right, well here's where the first difference comes. Dylan doesn't immendidlty put together put together that they aren't the real Reds, and Blues. This is because Surge actually has a shotgun, and they all have voice filters to sound like the Reds, and Blues.
Anyways after all that instead of going to Chorus, Dylan and Jax decied to go to other places The Reds and Blues have been starting with Zanzibar. There they wouldn't find much, but I think Dylan would at least try to see if she could find any information on the computer Gamma hacked, but probably wouldn't find anything.
There next stop would be Valhalla. There they would first check out The Blue Base, find nothing, and then they would check out The Red Base, where they would find the holgraph training thing Sarge had Lopez built. Once again they wouldn't find anything they would help with their investagation.
Oh by the way the call between Dylan and James would still happen in Episode 4 at Zanziabar and it would go the same as in the original Season.
Anyways then then go to the sandy place with The Temple, then where the Reds and Tucker got destroyed by Tex, and even where they confronted The Director, but they find nothing, and Dylan is about to Give Up when Jax suggest that why not go to the place The Reds and Blues were last known to be, Chorus. Dylan calls Jax a genius, and they head of to Chours. Again this goes exactaly the same as it did in the original version, but with one major difference, Doc would be on Chours working at Donald Doyle General Hosptial as Doctor Grey's assisatant, but once he here's about The Reds and Blues he too like Sister, Grey, and Kimball believes that The Reds and Blues wouldn't go evil, despite all they've put him through. So after getting the info from Kimball, Dylan, Jax, and Doc would all go to The Reds and Blues are on. Doc apologizes to Grey for leaving, but she assures him it's okay, and that he wasn't really that good at opperating, no offense of course. Anyways they go to the planet, the same Star Wars Parody scene happens, and Dylan finally meets The Real Reds and Blues. Cabooose still falls of the cliff, The Reds and Blues kind of have a small reaction to Doc like "Oh Doc what are you doing here". Doc then tries to explain only for The Reds and Blues to say that "No one cares", then they tell their story. It's exactaly the same, but Carolina does point out Tucker's weird behavior from being influnced by Sigma, and Omgea, but they all just blow it off as a phase, and then they get the SOS from Church.
And that's where Season 15 would end. Now I'm sure some of you are going to question why I shorten Season 15 to only about 10 episodes instead of the Original 20, well that was because of Dylan and Jax. See one of my main issues with Season 15 was the lack of development the two new characters got. I mean what did we learn about either of them throughout the Season? Um Dylan was a reporter, Jax wants to make movies, Dylan has a husband she's distant from, and that's about it, and as soon as The Reds and Blues come back into the picture, both Dylan and Jax basically get sidelinded. For me that was my biggest disappointment from Season 15, and is the main reason why I added episodes of Dylan and Jax going to these other places The Reds and Blues have been was so we could learn more about Dylan and Jax.
One thing I think we could learn about is why Dylan is so distant from her husband, here's my take on the reason why. Dylan can't have kids. When Dylan gets the call from James, Jax could ask her why she's so distant from him, to which Dylan would say that it's none of his buisness, then Jax can drop it, and tell Dylan his life story, then in Chorus Lessons Dylan can tell Jax about her being unable to reproduce, she explains to him that other then being a reporter one of her biggest dreams was to be a mom, she and James tried so many times, but nothing worked, so they went to the doctors where they got the news that Dylan was infertal. This revlation devestated Dylan, and she started to distants herself from James, and burry herself in her work. James did suggest things like Adoption, or a Surragate Mom, but Dylan didn't want to do either of does. I know it's not the best story for Dylan, but I just wanted more from her and Jax, instead of them just being sidelinded after The Reds and Blues came back into the picture. Anyways onto the New Season 16.

Season 16:

So yeah Season 16 is just the rest of Season 15 honestly, and for the most part everything goes exactaly The Same. Grif quits still, Carolina and Washington go to search for their old Freelancer friends, and The rest of The Reds and Blues along with Dylan and Jax try to trace Church's message. Everything from their goes the same, including the meeting with Spencer. It's when they meet The Blues and Reds where it's different. When they first meet it goes basically the same where The Blues and Reds claim that they're the good guys, and its The UNSC who are the bad guys, but Tucker does not trust them one bit because they are still going around pretending to be The Reds and Blues, with Tucker even questioning how Dylan couldn't tell they were fakes. Anyways the go into the underwater base, and here's where we get some differences. First of all The Blues and Reds and not the originals, they are just copycats. Doc also never knew them, and there's a little moment of him asking if they have their own Doc, and getting kind of dissapointed that their isn't.
Here's another major difference. It's Sigma who convinces Tucker to not trust Dylan, and to instead trust The Blues and Reds, and espesically Temple. After that everything from Wash and Carolina's relationship getting forming, to The Blues and Reds capturing them goes the same.
Now we get to The Blues and Reds story of why they are doing all of this. Now like I said before they are not the originals like in the canon version of Season 15, and honestly coming up with a different story for them was hard, and this was all I could think of. They were part of The UNSC Resistance, and took part in the battle of the Sargaughcas in Season 9. We still get that whole think of Biff and Temple being friends, and Biff wanting to go home to be with his wife, but this time instead of him asking Temple to shoot him, he was already given permission to leave, and this would have been his last mission. Unfourtnetly he is killed during the battle by Carolina and Tex. As for why The Blues and Reds are pretending to be The Reds and Blues? They saw the article Dylan wrote and that's what gave Temple the idea to pretend to be The Reds and Blues.
Anyways The Reds, and Blues discover The Blues and Reds are evil, Doc, and Sarge join The Blues, and Reds, The Reds, and Blues are captured, Lopez gets launched into Space, runs into Locus, and gets Grif. Grif, Lopez, and Felix go to save The Reds and Blues, free Wash and Carolina, with Wash all loopy, Sarge apologizes, and the fire fight happens. Here we would also see more of Sigma, and Omega influnicing Tucker, primarily Omega during this part since Tucker is angry, and of course Wash gets shot in the Neck.
So after that everything goes exactaly the same as it does in the original with The Reds and Blues, Dylan, and Jax all heading to Earth to stop The Blues and Reds.
Okay now for the Final Battle aganist The Blues and Reds, for the most part it's the same. Sarge and Surge's fight to Sarge accidendtly killing Surge, Grif, and Simmons figthing Gene and leaving him, and Loronzeo getting kicked into space, as well as Cronut blowing up in The Tank, but surving.
Now for the differnces. First off Loco's machine is not a time machine, but it will still causes mass destruction, and possibly destroy the planet so it needs to be stopped. Tucker beats Buckey even worse then he does in the original, breaking nearly all of his bones. This is again because of Omega. Anyways once we get to the final battle against Temple it all goes the same. Temple accidently kills Loco, VIC dies stopping the Machine, and Loco gives Caboose some batteires for Freckles. Now for the differnces. First there's no door that opens to Blood Gulch, and Alpha Church, The Machine just gets destroyed by VIC. Donut still gets shot by a bolt of electricty, but it does nothig except give him a little jolt. Oh and everything that happend with Doc went the same.
Now for Temple's fate. This time Tucker actually kills Temple, quite violently to, shocking everyone. Carolina then says "Tucker, what have you done"? to which Tucker, who's voice is mixed with Sigma's says. "Tucker is gone, I am The Meta"! Tucker now complety controlled by Sigma runs off, gets into Dylan's ship and flies off leaving everyone in shock. Then The Chours crew comes with Sister who reuintes with Grif, and the others are informed of Wash's recover, but then Caboose ask what they are going to do about Tucker, which Carolina says she doesn't know. Season 16 ends with Tucker returing to the base where The Reds and Blues were stationed after Chorus. He opens a door, to a room where The Meta's old armor was stored. Tucker then puts on the Armor and faces the screen in a scene similar to when Maine became The First Meta.
So yeah Season 16 aka The Rest of Season 15 didn't have a lot of changes other then changing the Origins of The Blues, and Reds, and showing more of Tucker's desent into becoming The New Meta. So let's move onto The Final Season.

Restoration:

So I think the best place to start The Final Season is to have The Reds and Blues first go to Chorus to check on Wash. As for Dylan and Jax, they stay behind since they can't fight The Meta. Anyways The Reds and Blues arrive on Chorus, and Carolina goes to see Wash in the Hospital, she wants to tell him about what happend to Tucker, but Wash doesn't let her at first, and instead tells the story about his cat. He tells the story about five times, so Carolina ask Doctor Grey about what's going on, and she tells Carolina about Wash's Cerebal Hypoxia. Now here's where we get our first difference. Carolina tells Wash about his condition, and does not hide it from him. Wash of course is devestated after learning this, but isn't as angry as he was in the original Season since Carolina was honest with him, but then she tells Wash about Tucker, and this causes an argument between the two of them, Carolina wants Wash to stay behind on Chorus while she and the others take care of Tucker, but Washington is insitant that he comes along saying how Tucker is his friend, and he's not going to sit back while Tucker suffers. Try as she might Carolina cannot convince Wash to stay behind.
While that was going on The Reds and Blues come back with the Message from Church. Of coruse Carolina, is skeptical at first considering what happend with the last message from Church, but Epsilon, who somehow new about all of this is able to prove he is real.
Okay so that's basically it for differnces, as everything else goes the same as it does in the original film with the acception that Sister, Wash, Carolina, Donut, Lopez, and Doc are all there the whole time. There would also be more scences of Tucker trying to fight off Sigma's influnce
Now for The Battle on The Staff of Charon with The Meta, here is where we would see Wash's injury effecting him, and it gets to a point where The Meta is about to kill him, only for Doc to sacrfice himself to save him. So yeah Doc still dies, but this time it's onscreen. As for Sarge, he dies too, same way he does in the original film, but the difference is that Sarge doesn't choose to abandon Caboose at first, he dies saving Caboose.
Final battle in Blood Gulch is The Same, with Tex coming back, but also Junior too. They fight and defeat Sigma, and Free Tucker. Caboose then destroys the Memory Unit.
Now for the ending. Grif doesn't leave like he does in the original film, Simmons does still offer it to him, but Grif chooses to stay. One thing The Shisno Trilogy did good was Grif's character arc. He realized that he needs the others in his life, no matter how much he doesn't want to admit it, he went crazy when he was all alone. Washington's character was something else done well in The Shisno Trilogy, his struggle with Brain Damage, and having to come over it, which is one of the biggest reasons why I hate Zero when they just said that he somehow got cured from that offscreen.
Finally with everything fixed, The Reds and Blues all decied to remain on Blood Gulch. Red Base has Simmons, Grif, Donut, and Lopez, while Blue Base has Caboose, Tucker, Washington, Carolina, Sister, and Junior.
Oh one more thing, they also had a memorial for Doc too. Donut is the first one mouring Doc, with Simmons, and the others eventually joining as well, and it's here where they finally acknowledge all the terrible things they did to Doc over the years, and genuinally apologize to him, even if Doc can't here them

Conclusion:

And there we go, my rewrite of Season 15, and Restoration. I know it's not perfect, and believe me a billon other people could do a trillon times better then I ever could, but I just wanted to talk about my take on how I would try to handle The End of Red vs Blue.

2024.05.12 16:26 Adjubei First time E4 champion

First time E4 champion
So...Just beaten the E4 with this team! By far one of, if not THE most beautiful rom hack I've ever played. Ad a fairly new pokemon player, playing on difficult was already quite hard, especially the end double-battle with Jax gave me quite a bit of trouble (and I admit Ihad to resort to using a few max revive), but it was incredibly fun. Also the main story is not praised wnough IMHO; for a pokemon fun-made rom hack it was amazingly well played out.
And nothing, I was excited to share this team that helped me through my last three gym-battles and the whole E4. Have a nice day :)

2024.04.21 19:49 Salty-Ad8032 Reverse engineering llms

I do LLMOps... I want to start doing that in pure rust ... How farmiliar are you with things reverse engineering? From byte code to source code kinda thing... Specifically I know it's possible, with some serious, superhuman hacks, to reverse engineer an LLM executable ( and binaries) to it's source code ( Pytorch, JAX, Autograd, Tensorflow... Or even rust even though the whole thing was actually written with say TF) and the corresponding datasets... How far can I stretch this , really?

2024.04.16 23:55 PXaZ Best framework / library for CPU-based neural networks (AVX-512 etc)

CPU-connected RAM is so vastly cheaper than VRAM that for large models, it seems it may be cost-effective to train and/or deploy on CPU. Highly-parallel CPUs (mine has 24 cores) sweeten the deal. My system's 128GB of RAM cost me about $900 for example, while the same quantity in A6000 VRAM would cost about $10700 if you could subdivide A6000s, but $12000 in the real world. So the cost per GB of RAM going the VRAM route is over 13x the cost of RAM attached to CPU.
Given this math, I'm interested in the latest efforts to efficiently train and infer on CPU, say to train a large language model from scratch. Do any existing frameworks deploy to CPU in a useful way (TF2, PyTorch, Jax)? I'd like to exploit the AVX-512 CPU instructions if possible. Or is good CPU performance going to be more niche?
FWIW I'm very strong in Python and nearly as strong in Rust, can hack some C++ sometimes. I've used TF2 and PyTorch extensively, and Jax I am starting to work with.
Thanks for any guidance, lay-of-the-land, recommendations, etc.

2024.04.11 05:16 FarslayerSanVir Taking Flight, Chapter 18: Hidden Wonders.

It's almost pitch black in the depths of the ruins. Pomni leads the way, lighting their path with a glowing prism as Gangle and Boopkins follow close behind. A mural decorates the walls of the spiral staircase they are descending, with various depictions of planetary systems and constellations. Gangle and Boopkins are both nervous as the trio descends the stairs.
Gangle: I don't thing we should be here, guys.
Boopkins: Yeah. There could be monsters and stuff.
Pomni: If there were any monsters here, Ragatha would've dealt with them before we even came here. Besides, I don't think anything has touched this place since the ten commandments were a rough draft.
They reach the bottom of the stairs and find a hub room with a single pillar at the center. Gangle and Boopkins take a look around while Pomni examines the pillar, wiping away centuries of dust from the crystaline surface. She can see faint lights inside.
Pomni: Hm.........
She taps the surface, and suddenly the pillar lights up with a vibrant tapestry of glyphs and symbols as the entire room begins to glow. Back on the surface we see Kinger, Ragatha, and Tari walking through the woods when Tari suddenly feels something. She is stopped in her tracks, and Ragatha takes notice.
Ragatha: Hey, are you alright?
Tari looks down at her arm to see that it too is reacting to something. Whatever it is, she can feel it emanating from somewhere. Back in the ruins, the trio are awestruck by the vibrant lights that now flood the room.
Pomni: This must be some kind of control console.
She fiddles with the pillar some more and manages to open a door on the far side of the room. They take a look inside and find rows upon rows of shelves holding various tools and devices. There's also some skeletal remains laying on the ground.
Gangle: I don't like this.
Back on the surface, we see Zooble and Jax scouring the area looking for Boopkins and the others. Or at least Zooble is. Jax is just strolling around and yelling Boopkins' name. Zooble shifts their arms into blades to slice through the dense shrubs.
Jax: COME ON OUT LITTLE GREEN, IT'S PAST YOUR BEDTIME.
Zooble: Y'know, this would go by a lot faster if you actually helped.
Jax: What? I'm keeping an ear out. If I hear the little squirt, you'll be the first to know.
Zooble just sighs as they continue to search the area, hacking through the foliage until they end up hitting something solid.
Zooble: What the......?
They clear away the foliage to reveal something made of metal that resembles a large leg. They hack through the surrounding foliage to reveal a torso, followed by a head.
Zooble: Uh...... Jax?
Jax: You found em?
Zooble: I found.......something.
The two are dumbfounded by the sight of a nine foot construct laying in the brush. Intricate imprintations of feather-like patterns and flowing water decorated an aerodynamic frame covering a ball jointed skeleton. Both its arms and legs were tipped with tarnished metal claws, and a sterling crest adorned its helmet and chest.
Jax: Wow.......... Boopkins really gained some weight.
Zooble directs an unamused glare at Jax. They get the joke. They just don't find it funny.
Jax: What?
A few meters away, Tari arrives at the mouth of the cave with Kinger and Ragatha in tow?
Ragatha: So, why this place?
Tari could feel it, a familiar energy hanging in the air.
Tari: Call it a hunch.
In the ruins, Pomni is finicking with the pillar again. She wants to see if there's anything more to this place, but the interface isn't cooperating anymore. It's like she's locked out. Tari's group discovers the observatory and make their way inside, seeing the inner dome now alight with a simulated night sky. She investigates the Orrery as Ragatha hops down. Kinger waits outside while the girls investigate the observatory.
Tari: These ruins......... I've seen ruins like these before.
Ragatha: I'm surprised we didn't find this on our sweep. Wanna come down, Kinger?
Kinger does come down....... flat on his face. Don't worry, he's fine. Near the orrery, Tari finds something on the ground. It's a set of sheaths. Tari goes down to touch it, but the moment she lays a finger on it, a flash of light engulfs the room. Pomni's group notices the flash upstairs. They go op to investigate and see Tari who now has three swords floating in front of her. She waves her hand and the three blades dance around in the air before disappearing. Tari looks down at her hand before noticing Pomni's group.
Boopkins: Woah......
Tari: Boopkins!
She goes over and hugs him as Pomni goes to hug Ragatha.
Ragatha: So this is where you've been hiding out, huh?
Tari: How did you even find this place?
Boopkins: I found it while I was looking for a hiding spot. We think it's some kind of observatory.
Kinger looks up at the simulated night sky above them.
Kinger: Why build one underground, though?
Their chat is interrupted by the sound of explosions from the surface.
Gangles: Uh....... has anybody seen Jax and Zooble?
Yeah. Remember that big robot Jax and Zooble found in the shrubs? It's awake now, and it clearly isn't happy as we see it's now trying to kill the two. Zooble is holding their ground the best they can while Jax just leans on a nearby tree and gives emotional support.
Jax: You're doing great, Zuzu! Give em' what for!
Zooble: OH GEE, THANKS! THAT'S..... REALLY HELPING RIGHT NOW!
Jax: Hey, what are friends for?
Zooble: OH JUST HIT IT YOU MOTHERF-
Just then, Zooble takes an uppercut straight to the jaw and is sent flying. She is caught by Tari who arrives on the scene with Ragatha.
Tari: You okay?
Zooble: Yeah, I'm good. But this thing is built like a tank.
Ragatha: Then ignore the shell and focus on the joints.
The others are watching at a safe distance from the bushes. The robot fires a lazer from its eyes and Tari deflects with a well timed barrier.
Kinger: Whats that guy's problem?
Gangle: It looks like a robot soldier.
Kinger:...............AAA-
Ragatha comes in with a well placed kick to the robot's head before readying her cleavers. Zooble morphs her body into a more durable armored form, creating a mace and a shield from her arms.
Ragatha: Jax!
Jax: On it. Hey Tin Man!
Jax proceeds to inflate his body, his muscles expanding up to three times their size. He then proceeds to shoulder check the robot into Zooble, who follows up with a series of mace strikes.
Zooble: About time!
Tari is up next. She hops off of Zooble's shield and draws her glaive. Right as the robot brings down his arm on her, she plunges the glaive into its elbow and fires off a shot. The robot staggers back as it's arm is blown clean off. Ragatha charges in, slashing at its ankles and severing its other arm. The robot turns to her and readies another lazer blast, but Jax grabs its head and pulls it back. The beam fires into the sky, which can be seen across the forest. Tari comes in and thrusts the tip of her glaive into the robot's neck. She fires off another blast, severing the machine's head clean from its shoulders. The light from its eyes fade as its hulking frame collapses to the ground. Jax deflates and Zooble assumes her original form.
Zooble: YEAH! F*** YOU, YOU PIECE OF JUNK!
Pomni, Kinger, Gangle, and Boopkins rush over to the rest of the group.
Pomni: Are you guys okay?
Jax: A little winded, but I'm alright.
Zooble: Oh f*** off.
Ragatha rolls her eyes while Tari examines the destroyed machine's remains. She recognizes the patterns on the armor as the same ones on her glaive.
Clench: Well would you look at that. Might wanna keep a tab on this place.
Boopkins: Tari, is it safe now.
She looks over to Boopkins with a reassuring smile.
Tari: Yes Boopkins, it's safe.
Back on the ship, we see Caine and Aybel watching the situation on Caine's wacky watch.
Caine: Now THAT was quite the wallop if I've ever seen one!
Aybel: Indeed. Though, I think it's best if I pick the location next time.
Caine: Though I am rather curious about those ruins. I mean, what kind of idiot would build an observatory UNDERGROUND?
Aybel focuses in on Tari, who's still analyzing the robot.
Aybel: Yes........ curious.

2024.04.02 00:54 FarslayerSanVir Taking Flight, Chapter 14: New Neighbors

BOB BE PRAISED, FOR TODAY WE ARE BLESSED WITH ANOTHER CHAPTER OF TAKING FLIGHT.
LONG LIVE BOB!
Also a quick shoutout to Dakkii. ...................................................................................
It's another fine day at the Showgrounds as Meggy and Melony eagerly watch Tari practice her barrier projection. So far, she's managed to create a dome she can fit in.
Meggy: Alright Melony, you're up.
Melony hacks away at the dome with her sword. Tari's shield seems to be holding up so far.
Clench: Keep it up, Tari. Keep it up.
Melony kicks it up a notch with some energy blasts. Tari winces as small cracks begin to appear on the barrier. Melony then switches to her Deity Mode and readies a charged strike, but Tari falls to her knees and the dome dissipates. Melony powers down and goes to check on an exhausted Tari.
Tari: huff..........huff.......... How long was that one?
Meggy: Two and a half minutes. A new record!
Tari: Great....... anyways I cough cough ..........sigh.........
Melony: Yeah, I think that's enough for right now.
Tari rolls onto her back.
Tari: No, no, it's fine......... I just need to take a breather is all.........
Clench: And maybe an Advil or two.
SMG4: So, what do you think so far?
The girls turn to see SMG4 with......... someone new. He's an odd looking fellow, wearing a deep blue suit adorned with hearts, clubs, spades, and diamonds. He also has a lavender scarf with what looks to be a golden "bowtie" in the shape of a pair of wings. His head is a free floating ball with a mouth, and he wears a fedora with a golden band around the head.
?????: It's a rather lovely place. Quite roomy, too. It almost reminds me of my brother's place.
Meggy: Uh......SMG4?
SMG4: Oh, hey guys! This is Aybel, one of our new tenants.
Aybel: A good noon to you.
SMG4: He's gonna be running our new guest house.
Melony: Guest house?
SMG4: Yeah, something to keep things fresh around here. Me and Three have been in talks to get some more traffic flowing here in the Showgrounds, and he suggested we open up a place for guests to stay long term.
Tari: Now that you mention it, Three did say that things have been a bit slow here for his business.
Meggy: That's all good but........ why didn't you run this by us first?
SMG4: What do you mean? I've been sending you guys texts and emails all week.
Meggy: You mean the same things you use to spam us with memes?
SMG4: Well........
While Meggy and SMG4 sort things out, Aybel hovers over to Tari and Melony. Tari gets back on her feet to greet their newest arrival.
Tari: It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Aybel. I'm Tari.
Aybel: The pleasure is all mine Ms. Tari. And you must be Melony Greenhorne, I presume.
Melony: You know me?
Aybel: One of my brother's associates told me about these "mangas" of yours. She's quite a fan of your works.
Melony: Oh, wow! Well, make sure to send her my thanks the next time you see her.
Aybel: Actually, you may be able to do so yourself. She's gonna be a patron at the guest house.
Tari: Wait, you already have people lined up?
Aybel: Of course. They'll be here by sundown, so if you'll excuse me........
SMG4 and Meggy meet back up with the others as Aybel hovers over to an open plot of land.
Aybel: .......I must get to work.
And so he did. Motes of light fly from his fingertips and dance to his every gesture. He uses their light to draw perimeter within the plot, sculpting intricate patterns of doors and windows within a 5-layer octagonal frame. When the outline is done, the most fly together to create a single ball of light above the construct. Aybel snaps his fingers and BOOM! In a flash the structure becomes a red and yellow building with a tent-like top, the windows embroidered with a golden trim. An ornate arch adorns the entrance, ordained with a round plaque depicting Aybel's "bowtie". The Crew is awestruck.
Our Guest House is complete.
Aybel takes off his hat and out comes a small floating bubble with beady black eyes and a formittable set of razor sharp teeth.
Aybel: Bubble, could you be a dear and help me get the rooms ready?
Bubble: Gotcha!
The crew comes inside to see the main lounge. In the center we have the lounging area with 4 couches and TVs with various amenities such as video games. To the left we have the kitchen, to the right we have the bathrooms and storage, and in the back we have a stairway that leads to the upper floors.
Aybel: Good to see things are in order down here.
Tari: I gotta say, you have quite the setup here.
There's a knocking at the front door. It seems as though some of the patrons have arrived earlier than expected.
Aybel: When it comes to ensuring the safety and comfort of those under my care, I spare no expense.
He opens the door to great three new arrivals: A ragdoll with red curly hair and a button eye, a tall purple rabbit man with a flannel shirt and overalls, and an anxiously pale little jester with red and blue dimples and candy shaped eyes.
Aybel: Oh, Ragatha! I'm surprised to see you here so soon.
Ragatha: It's like you always said, hesitation is defeat.
Aybel: SMG4, this is Ragatha. She's a prized pupil of mine. The rabbit and the jester are her entourage, Jax and Pomni.
Jax immediately heads for the nearest couch before Ragatha snags him by the ear.
Ragatha: Jax....... these are our hosts here. Why don't you introduce yourself?
Jax: Alright alright! Jeez...... Sup guys, my name is Jax. It's a pleasure to be here.
Somewhat satisfied, Ragatha releases Jax and allows him to laze about on the couch.
Ragatha: At least take your bags to your room before you start being a lazy ass.
Jax: Hey, we walked for 30 miles! As far as I'm concerned we earned this.
Pomni: I'm really sorry about him. He can be......... insufferable at times.
Meggy: It's alright. My friend Mario can be like that too sometimes, so I'm kinda used to it.
Tari goes over to grab Jax's bags and heads upstairs with Ragatha and Pomni. We see three floors of rooms connected by a central spiral staircase.
Ragatha: Just place his bags outside of room nine.
Tari: Will do!
Tari heads up the staircase to room nine as instructed, placing Jax's luggage outside the door. She also can't help but feel........ curious about some of their new tenants.
Tari: So....... what brings you guys to the showgrounds
Ragatha: Well........ there was a bit of an "incident" over at our workplace, so Aybel convinced our boss to let us stay somewhere else. It's a bunch of responsible businesses stuff.
Tari: What exactly IS your "business"?
Pomni: We're a performance troop called the Circus. Well, less of a Circus and more of a.........makeshift community for lost souls. That's how Caine puts it at least.
Tari: Lost souls?
Ragatha: Yeah. Sometimes a soul gets lost and ends up becoming....... something else. Jax became a rabbit, Pomni became a jester, and I became a ragdoll. It can be a bit jarring at first, having only fragments of who you used to be. And sometimes even those get lost if you're not careful enough........ and you only have so long to find them again until you go crazy, which is when things start to get....... REALLY bad..........
She falls silent for a moment. Pomni goes over to Ragatha and holds her hand. Ragatha gives Pomni a reassuring smile.
Ragatha: So, yeah. The Circus provides us with a home, good work, and plenty of things to do so we don't start going crazy. It's a decent gig, all things considered.
Ragatha and Pomni retreat into their rooms, leaving Tari to contemplate Ragatha's words for a moment. She can't help but think back to the days where she'd be drifting around, living off of prize money from video game tournaments. Then came that day at the mall, when she first met Mario. In a way, she was a lost soul herself until she joined SMG4's crew. You could say that makes her a Carnie herself.
And with all things considered, she wouldn't have it any other way.

2024.04.01 00:23 DangerDuck-O_o "Out of time" - Chapter 2/ Part 2 [OC]

Chapter 2: “From the pan into the fire” pt.2
Previous / Next
With a slight rumble across the hull of the dropship, the internal comms pinged: “Attention, dragons nest, landing in 60 seconds, touch and go, comms up for EVAC, marker ‘delta’ “, to which Ghost followed at a determined voice, “Team, wheels down in 60, check your kit, masks down, synchronize locators..” to which Viper, Blaze, Circuit, Doc and Shadow all, as if practiced, touched the side of their right side of the neck, activating their environmental helmets, that slid out from the back of the head like shutters, “click click click” forming first the top of the helmets, then jaw covers extending from the sides meeting at the chin with another audible “click” forming a tight seal between the strong yet flexible neck brace and finally with a swishing sound, a see-through, slightly bluish glass-like shield apparated and coalesced closing the head in from the outside environment. With the next move, all of them, again in unison raised their left arm, punched a code into their wrist mounted datapads to synchronize and finally, all six seat braces popped up allowing the team to stand up, grab their gear from the overhead bulkhead and get kitted. Jax, as a trained officer, followed along, however, as she was top brass, her movements were not quite as seemingly choreographed as the team and as she hit the button to release the guard, nothing happened. Slightly thrown off and confused she tried again, pushing on the bar, without avail. The bar refused to pop open. At the same time a ‘thud’ could be felt as the ship's landing gear hit the ground and the rear hatch hissed and dropped open, revealing a desolate sandy light brown surface with occasional rocks jutting out of the ground here and there. As the team was exiting, the last one out was Ghost, stopped in front of Jax, “Trouble, ma’m?” he smiled at Jax, who was visibly annoyed and a bit embarrassed. Without waiting for a reply, Ghost leaned in with a wide smile, pushed on the bar release button and almost demonstratively, pushed the bar in, against Jax’ thighs and then released it, allowing the bar to spring up, “Don’t feel bad, officer Jax, most people who don’t frequent these flying boxes fail to open the restraint the first time” winking slyly, and then heading out at a brisk pace. As the team ran out the back of the drop ship, they immediately formed a circle about 20 feet wide, each facing outwards, took a knee and raised their main weapons to shoulders, aiming out as Jax and Ghost ran into the center of them to look around. Raising a considerable local dust cloud, the drop ship took off, leaving the dragon's nest and Jax alone on the surface of this alien planet. As the dust settled, they could see the view around them was eerie but calm. The ground was a mixture of dry light brown sand and darker brown dirt like substance, various sized rocks poking out of the ground, visible marks of wind sweeping across this land everywhere, and above them a dark star-dotted night sky. Towards the way they exited and to their immediate right and left, mostly flat empty ground stretched out to as far as the eye could see, except for some rolling waste-high dunes, bigger rock-formations and larger mountains further in the distance, some 80 to 100 miles out. Looking behind them however, a startling spectacle opened up - A collection of mounds, different heights ranging from tens of feet to hundreds of feet, a top of a few of the taller ones, a distinct sharp spike could be seen, clearly not from any typical mineral and about a few hundred yards out they could see a long mound stretching out of the closest mound ending in what appeared a dark hole at the end. Accompanied by a few beeps and chirps, as Jax consulted her datapad, Ghost kept an eye on the horizon, “Seems like a fun place” he uttered bemusingly. “Aye, sarge, based on the amount of sand, it’s a full blown beach party just waiting to happen,” Lance corporal Jake Thompson the demolitions expert, call sign Blaze, whimsically retorted. “What’s our destination, officer Jax,” Ghost continued. Getting her bearings, she raised her arm and pointed at the long stretching mound, “There, sergeant, that’s our entry point.” “You heard the lady, guys, squad up, two by two flanking formation and watch the sides, I'll take point,” Ghost calmly passed orders, then turned to Jax “Officer Jax, please stay within the flank, for your protection, until we clear the open area.” In no more than a brief moment, the team stood up, reformed into a rectangle shaped formation, with Ghost leading the move and Doc taking the rear, neatly boxing Jax in as they started moving in a brisk pace, holding ready, slightly crouched and their main weapons at chin height, scanning the perimeter for any possible contacts. Minutes later, the team reached the entrance of the tubular shaped cave, standing about 12 feet above them, pitch dark and from what little star light was available, it appeared to descend downwards as if winds had pushed a dune in front of the opening. “Viper, Circuit, Blaze, watch our six, i’m going to scope out the cave, Doc, keep officer Jax company, Shadow you’re with me,” Ghost issued the orders and entered the cave with Stealth and Infiltration Expert - Lance Corporal Marcus "Shadow" Rodriguez following him in a half flanking cover. As the two descended the sandy mound, another 4 feet down, Ghost said in a hushed tone, “Let’s stay low visibility for now, switch to darkvision,” to which Shadow replied, “copy, switching to darkvision”. As the inside of their visors flickered and a monochrome view came up, they saw, what looked like a perfectly round tunnel, about sixteen feet in diameter, bottom half flat, creating a level surface to walk on, and for about one hundred feet ahead unobstructed and devoid of anything perceived as a threat. Beyond this the field of depth cut out as it was the maximum, that darkvision could render. “Team, fall in, we’re clear,” Ghost continued after being certain, it’s safe to proceed. Shortly, faint shuffling could be heard as the rest of the team with Jax, entered. Ghost raised his sniper to his chin, flipped through various view modes and looked through his scope to get a better idea of what’s ahead. “The tunnel appears to end at one-twenty feet, seems like a wall of some sort, nothing alive or dead visible,” he paused and lowered his weapon, “all right, lights on, let’s see where the hell we are.” As they began cautiously moving forward, they flicked on their helmet lights, positioned right above their eyes, in the middle of the foreheads. “Ho-lee shit,” Blaze blurted out, “if this is natural, I'm eating my hat” as the lights illuminated their surroundings. The team was taken aback by what they saw - the side walls of the tunnel looked like curved glass panes, ten feet long, separated by two feet of metallic sections, curving from the very bottom nearly all the way to the top, with a translucent white tube on the separating metal wall entirely completing the loop of the tunnel, and these glass panes kept repeating all the way to the far end, behind them sand and dirt tightly packed in. “This is definitely made by someone, but it appears like it’s been unused for a long time, judging by the amount of dust and sand ingress,” Jax noted, “although, this planet doesn’t have an atmosphere to speak of, so if wind was the culprit here, it had to have been eons ago, atmospheres don’t just disappear overnight.” “Copy that,” Ghost replied contemplatively, “however, seen as we’re about to be uninvited guests at someones’ home, ancient or not, we need to be on high alert, who knows what’s waiting for us.” As the team reached the end of the tunnel, they were met with a wall, that appeared to be nearly uniform, no visible doors or other means of entry visible, but Ghost did notice a plaque at the very top of the tunnel with some sort of writing on it and a tube with a rectangular object at the end of it, extending from the right hand side of the tunnel. “There’s some kind of a placard or a sign up there,” Ghost said. “Get some lights on it” and with that, as everybody looked up, indeed they all saw a wide sign with letters on it. “Where, numbs, slag, place, five?” Blaze slowly sounded it out, “The hell is that, some alien language?” Blaze asked, confused. “No,” Communications Specialist - Lance Corporal Mei "Circuit" Lin, retorted, “that’s latin alphabet, you dingus, and it says: Warenumschlagplatz 5, which is German and means either a loading dock or a goods handling area.” Mere moments after Circuit uttered that, the entire team was looking at each other, thoroughly confused. “Wait, what?” Both Ghost and Jax as if one person, asked. “That’s what it says, i’m sure, i am level 3 linguistics proficient, that’s German and that’s what it means” Circuit added. “How the hell is there German writing in some god-forsaken alien base in the middle of nowhere?” Blaze asked in complete disbelief. “Super ancient space-Germans, i guess,” Circuit retorted sarcastically, shrugging, “Man, how the fuck should i know, we’ve been here the same amount of time.” “Alright, alright, settle down you two,” Ghost interjected, “let’s figure out a way in and perhaps we can get some more intel on this place and what in the nine hells is going on.” “Yes sir,” Circuit responded, “Perhaps that rectangular thing protruding from the wall, is some type of an access panel” she continued, “if we are lucky and there’s any power left, i might be able to hack it and gain access,” she noted walking over to said panel, wiped the dust of it and touched it with her index finger, to which surprisingly, it lit up with various writings and imagery. “Oh shit, that actually worked,” Circuit noted gleefully, “It seems this place isn’t entirely dead, and here,” she pointed at a rectangular icon with a text inside, “it says access scan, permission to try?” she asked, turning back to look at Ghost. Getting an affirmative nod, she tapped the icon, which was promptly followed by glowing orange circles forming around Circuit, moving up and down accompanied by a faint hum, at which a few of the team members got startled and instinctively raised their weapons taking a step back, only to relax as they realized this must be some type of a body scan. A few seconds later the rings disappeared and silence returned. “Did.. Did it work?” Doc wondered as on the rectangular screen, a triangular shape slowly pulsed. A few anxious moments passed in absolute silence as everyone was looking around contemplating the next move, when all of a sudden a click could be heard from the wall, followed by a ‘whoomph’ at which moment an invisible field extended from the wall down the tunnel, lifting all the dust and sand up and pushing it out and as it passed each member of the team they could also physically feel a slight nudge, just barely and only for a moment, pushing on them. “What the!?” Blaze exclaimed, only to be cut off mid sentence, as another series of clicks sounded from the wall and as they all looked in that direction, they saw fine seams appearing on its surface and then the entire wall broke into curved triangular shapes, reminiscent of a camera shutter, retracted out with an audible swish, leaving a giant circular hole in its wake, opening up to what appeared a landing of some sort, various metal boxes and containers, pallets and other assorted things lying around, not broken or thrown around, but seemingly left as is, mid movement. “Boss!” Circuit called out at Ghost and as he turned to look at her, she nodded towards the access panel, which was displaying a word: Zugang gewährt, and a filled in green outline of a human. “It says access granted, again in German, seriously, where the fuck are we?” Circuit asked perplexed. “I don’t know, but we will hopefully find out more and maybe it’ll make more sense,” Ghost noted, “Let’s move in and see what we can discern, we have a mission to complete first and foremost, everything else is secondary, everybody, eyes sharp, watch your corners”. At this moment, everyones’ suits chimed and the status display showed outside atmospheric readings spiking, oxygen levels quickly jumping to 21.6 percent, no toxicants, biological threats or chemicals detected. “Well what do you know, the environment seems to be suitable for us” Doc noted, looking around, “which means, we can remove the helmets as my deep scan is showing nothing that’s bad for our health, albeit, the oxygen levels are slightly elevated compared to Earth, but the levels i’m reading, are concurrent for us to achieve maximum optimal saturation, better than back home, in fact,” he said with a noticeable surprise. “Allright, if Doc says it’s good, i’m good” Ghost replied and with that his helmet opened and tucked away in reverse to as it had engaged earlier, leaving only an earpiece with an extended sideframe that held an invisible screen in front of his left eye that displayed various tactical, environmental and other information as needed. The rest of the team followed suit. Taking in a deep breath, Blaze said “Damn, that smells so fresh, just like it did back home, on my dads farm in Minnesota.” “Agreed, this is really strange,” Ghost added, then pointing ahead, “Look, this platform seems to be about a hundred feet wide and there’s a railing at the end, let’s go see, what we can see and where we should head towards from here.” As the team covered the distance, dodging, weaving and going around various pallets of boxes, barrels, machines that appeared to be some type of forklifts on the floor, without any visible wheels, they eventually reached the railing and peered over it. “Wow!” Viper said in disbelief as she looked out, only to be followed by Blaze going “Holy mother of mackerels!”

2024.03.18 17:02 AbleCook-9553 What changes to be made on the Special Forces & Black Dragon characters in the New Era?

So many things in Liu Kang's New Era that must be made well and better than how they were in the past timelines. Now that the OIA is taking over and the Black Dragon is a different story.
ex.
Sonya's newfound life if she's gonna give up her soldier life, becoming an OIA agent and how her relationship with Johnny will go.
OIA leader Jax's human arms better not get hacked off & being replaced by bionics again. Rather they be wearable.
Kano? Leader of the Black Dragon, but what changes Liu Kang has done on him to make him evil to a medium?
Kabal? They better make the speedster a hero again. Along with how he gets the respirator & earning his speed.

2024.03.12 01:11 H-Barbara Unofficial Transcript of SaucerSwap AMA 2024 March 09

https://www.saucerswap.finance/ [3rd AMA of 2024]
Pine_apple
Hello everyone. It's an amazing day today because we have an AMA. So thank you all for coming to our third AMA of this year. Spring is in the air and Hedera DeFi is really coming in hot. So I just checked 5 minutes ago and SaucerSwap is currently in the top 20 DEXs on DeFiLlama. And also we have surpassed $750 Million in total traded volume, inching us closer to that 1 Billion milestone mark. So today I am joined with aBFT as a co-host.
aBFTFTW
Amazing day. It's an AMA. Thanks Pineapple. Greeting Saucelings. Welcome aboard our spacecraft for another galactic AMA session. Things are heating up. As we've all seen recently, launching into orbit is Bitcoins latest all time high price. We're about to beam down our latest insights and unearthly secrets. So buckle up your asteroid belts and let's get this show going. What you got for us tonight, Pine_apple?
Pine_apple
Thanks aBFTFTW. So to start us off, if possible, can the team clear the air on refusing or delaying an interview with Max Walker-Williams? I think this would be greatly appreciated for us to move forward.
Peter
Hey, everyone. Yeah, thanks for joining us for this AMA. We do appreciate taking some time to fill everyone in on developments and take your questions. So to preface, we do want to spend the majority of our time together today answering some more substantial questions, but we do understand there has been some confusion around the interview with Max. So we'll just take a minute there to get it out of the way.
So as context, we have done several on camera interviews with Brandon the HBAR Bull, as well as conducted monthly or biweekly AMAs to be as transparent as possible. Now Max asked us to participate in his mega HTS video, I think is what he was calling it. And we just didn't feel like it was the right time to participate, so we respectfully declined. In our response, we mentioned that we would be more than happy to circle back to do an exclusive interview following the release of some more features such as Auto Pools, which is currently in Testnet beta, so that we'll have more to talk about. And following that message, Max didn't reply; just had the response that he did on social media.
Yeah. So just two points I want to communicate. One, we follow our own development cycle and marketing schedule. We can't say yes to every interview request, nor would it be a good idea to do so. And we do tend to schedule on-camera interviews either leading up to a major feature release such as SaucerSwap Version 2, or following a major feature release.
Now the second point I want to communicate is that we are always open to feedback and if the community ever feels we are not being transparent, we will address it. We try our very best to be open and communicative through various channels. For example, we offer support through Discord and e-mail. We conduct regular AMAs to take questions from the community. We have done multiple on-camera interviews. We also published development updates to Twitter and Telegram regularly. In addition to all of this, we have a public roadmap, extensive documentation, and not to mention our contracts are open-source and audited, so transparency and communication are hallmarks of our brand. We take it very seriously.
We plan to do more on-camera interviews moving forward. There's no stop to them. We've done them in the past and we will continue to do them, as well as keep to a schedule of our regular AMAs, and as always, be generally available on Discord or e-mail for support. By the way, we may do an exclusive interview with Brandon the HBAR Bull following the release of Auto Pools that would be later this month. So if you're looking for an on-camera interview, we may do one with Brandon the HBAR Bull.
So now I would like to put this matter behind us. We have more important things to discuss and we do wish Max all the best with his channel.
aBFTFTW
Hey, thank you Peter. Brandon the HBAR Bull has done fabulous things for the community. I shared his videos so much when I first found out about HBAR. Dude's a real boss.
Alright, moving on. First question. So what stage has the SaucerSwap team reached in the process of getting listed on Centralized Exchanges and when is it expected to be completed? How hard is the team working on getting listed on Tier 1 exchanges? The HBAR community would love to help. This is also by TheGreatOne. We are past February. What is taking so long for listing?
Peter
Yeah. Thanks for the question. I know it's a hot topic. We actually received many more questions about Centralized Exchange listings than the ones that we're just reading for the AMA. I think there was about 10 of them. So we will give you some color and updates regarding the centralized exchange listings right now. First of all, there has been no shift in priority regarding the listings. They are still actively being worked on. We have made progress with the Tier 1 Centralized Exchanges mentioned in the last AMA. Now there are two in particular that are firmly Tier 1's that are our top priority. As context from the last AMA, they have told us that they love SaucerSwap. They love the project, the active community, the on-chain metrics, seeing our rank on DeFiLlama surpassing QuickSwap, getting up there with Camelot and Trader Joe. Basically all the projects criteria is met.
There are a couple of challenges that we are working through. The main challenge is that the Hedera Token Service is not integrated on many exchanges, period. So we are doing the hard work of pushing to get the Hedera Token Service integrated on these top exchanges. Now the great thing about this is that it will pave the way for other HTS tokens to seamlessly list on those exchanges. The downside is it takes a little bit longer. But to the point that HTS needs to be integrated, we have been working with our partners, including the HBAR Foundation and several prominent market makers, to integrate the Hedera Token Service into these exchanges. Namely these Tier 1 exchanges. So, we are just as hopeful as we were last AMA about these listings. They unfortunately do not operate on our schedule and all we can do is be persistent and work with them as efficiently as possible. That's exactly what we're doing.
Second point we want to make regarding the Centralized Exchanges is that we have broadened our strategy a bit to additionally consider listing on other exchanges that might not necessarily be Tier 1, but will support an overall approach that includes both top and other reputable non-Tier 1 exchanges. So let me be clear. This does not mark a shift from listing on Tier 1 exchanges, that is still the top priority, but rather it broadens our approach to potentially list on more exchanges. We did want to communicate this in case one of the other exchange listings happens first, just so there is no confusion around that. As I mentioned, the timelines with the exchanges is unclear. They operate on their own schedule, so we don't know which exchange would be the first to list among the many that we are interfacing with.
Regarding how the community can help, all of these exchanges look at how active the community is across all social media platforms, including Twitter, Discord and Telegram. So really, the best way to help is to continue participating and helping each other as you see fit. As I mentioned before, these exchanges love our community. They see the engagement on Twitter, on Discord. It's one of the, you know, great advantages that we have. I know we mentioned that around the turn of the month, we were expecting a decision from one of the Tier 1 exchanges. I hope the explanation I gave provides some color around the process and how we are actively working to solve some ecosystem issues, such as the lack of HTS support across exchanges.
To be perfectly clear, we are still making good progress with two Tier 1 exchanges and have also made significant progress with other reputable exchanges, and have involved several of our partners to facilitate and accelerate the process as much as possible. So we look forward to providing more updates on this matter as soon as we have them.
Pine_apple
Thank you so much for providing that really thorough explanation, Peter. Our next question is from 0x3a0. With the increase of attention in new users, what security measures, improvements or contingency plans are in place to mitigate a possible hack or exploit?
Joseph
Hey, guys. Yeah, it's great to see such a large turnout. So we've established internal protocols to effectively respond to situations based on our threat level. To monitor any issues with our server or site, we've implemented multiple Sentry rules, and our team structure is clearly defined, ensuring adherence to robust version control and we do follow best practices in SDLC and DevOps. So before releasing to production, sensitive code undergoes through unit testing and QA in a dev environment. And I guess to provide further context, in the first quarter of this year, we've significantly refactored our code base, fixed bugs and optimized our systems.
For added security, our smart contracts are of course audited by reputable third parties such as Hacken and Omniscia, and we engage in regular consultations with Swirlds to exchange feedback. In addition to that, we have biweekly meetings with Hashport that focus on operational security and strategies to minimize potential losses resulting from exploits. And I guess the most recent example, we host ongoing bug bounty programs, both on Mainnet and on Testnet.
aBFTFTW
Awesome. Thank you for that explanation there, Joseph. Next question comes up and says on CoinMarketCap, this message pops up. The CMC team has not verified the market cap of this project. When will they be able to verify this?
Peter
So we had to prepare a new total supply endpoint for CoinMarketCap. We've completed this, so we'll submit a CoinMarketCap request this week and it should be updated.
Pine_apple
Great. Thanks for that. Is there a time frame for Community Pools and the Sauceling NFTs? Things are getting heated up for DeFi on Hedera with lots of projects launching. Has this made Phase 2 single-sided staking a bigger priority for the SaucerSwap team? Thoughts on that?
Peter
Yeah. So Auto Pools is the next feature to be released. We are currently in a Testnet beta for that. So if you want to earn some SAUCE and find bugs, that's on testnet.saucerswap.finance. We are offering rewards up to 75,000 SAUCE, so go ahead, try to break it, and you can earn some SAUCE.
After Auto Pools is released, there are a few development priorities such as governance and revisiting Phase 2 of single-sided staking, which is what this question is about. So as for that, I will just mention there are opportunities to incorporate the LARI system we developed, which is the Liquidity Aligned Reward Initiative system, for use with Phase 2 of single-sided staking. We are still looking into the potential for this integration but it could make it even more robust, while still supporting the initial vision for Phase 2, which is xSAUCE staking, as well as Phase 3, which involves the Sauceling NFTs. So we're pretty excited about the potential there to use LARI in conjunction with Phase 2 and Phase 3 of single-sided staking.
We'll provide more information on that as we get closer to it. As for the NFT series portion, we are still developing the art for it, so it's not an immediate item that will be released, but it is actively being developed.
aBFTFTW
That's true, and Nariyoshi is heading up that project. So if y'all want to try and squeeze secrets out of anyone, just to hit up Nariyoshi haha. Next question from CryptoRubber. Is the team planning to do some rewards for the long-term stakers like airdrop or some sort of benefits other than APY percentage, just like the booming coin $TIA, $SOL.
Joseph
Yeah. So the token generation event or TGE for SAUCE has already occurred, so I'm not sure if an airdrop makes sense in this context. Airdrop farming is generally reserved for projects which have yet to undergo a TGE. And furthermore, the SaucerSwap tokenomics don't leave much room for flexibility. All the SAUCE yet to enter circulation has already been allocated to various initiatives, so whether that be incentives liquidity or DAO related activities. This is well documented in the SaucerSwap docs. But returning to your point. I could foresee a situation where SAUCE holders or stakers are airdropped in other projects' token, or otherwise we're rewarded in some way. I believe this has already occurred with some ecosystem tokens, but it would be a third party initiative.
Pine_apple
Thanks for that explanation, Joseph. This next one is for Peter. Will US users be able to pull and import transactions via SAUCE Pro into Koinly before the April 15th tax deadline?
Peter
For tax purposes, it is already possible to go to Koinly, search for Hedera, enter your Hedera account ID, specify the dates you want to import transactions from and to, and then click import. Koinly integrates both with HBAR and HTS tokens, so it is a fully fledged way to report your transactions for the upcoming tax deadline. Koinly will find prices for a lot of HTS tokens if they're listed on CoinGecko, but if they're not there, you can also just search for the prices on SaucerSwap or aggregators such as DEX Screener, so that is what we recommend.
aBFTFTW
That sounds good to me. Our next question is for Joseph. How does the SaucerSwap Auto Pools work? For example, will Impermanent Loss be realized when the pool rebalances? How do you manage the risks and could you give us some details about how auto rebalancing work?
Joseph
Yeah, sure. So we published a Medium article last week that went into some detail, but auto pools are based on the ICHI active liquidity management or ALM protocol and this essentially enables users to deposit a single asset in a vault which sits atop a SaucerSwap V2 liquidity pool. An algorithm will then take this user deposit and allocate it across a range of prices within that pool. So there's five possible auto pool states, which are ways in which the deposit can be allocated, but there's a healthy state, over and under inventory states, and high and extreme volatility states. So the algorithm will always try to return the auto pool to the healthy state and keep it there for as long as possible. This is where the most fees are earned in the deposit token.
So an example of a healthy state could be 80% the deposit token and 20% the paired token with the deposit token allocated tightly around the market price of the pool. Over and under inventory states occur when the market price changes such that that 80/20 composition shifts either up or down, which means that there's now too much or too little of the deposit token.
So the algorithm will reallocate its funds over a new price range to bring the Auto Pool back to the targeted healthy state. The high and extreme volatility states are when the market price of the pool moves drastically over a short period of time, and that's measured by differences in the slow and fast TWAPs (time-weighted average price). So the algorithm responds in much the same way, just in a more extreme manner.
So the process of returning to the healthy state without any user input is what's referred to as auto rebalancing. And to address your question about impermanent loss, it's only realized when you withdraw your funds from the vault. In terms of managing risk, ICHI is highly experienced in managing ALM deployments. They're currently partnered with PancakeSwap, QuickSwap, Retro Finance, and several others. Their contracts have been audited by third party firms and the deployed code is verified on Hashscan. And as I had previously mentioned, we are running a bug bounty program on the Testnet, which is an added security measure.
Pine_apple
Great. Thanks for that explanation, Joseph. Another question by Septia / HBARmillionaire. How do LARI rewards work with Auto Pools? Will the ICHI protocol get that 14% cut, and will the remaining 86% be distributed back to the users or is it compounded back into the pool? And why is it a 14% manager fee? Is that like a load fee or exit fee? Can you please go into detail on this topic and provide some clarification?
Joseph
Yeah, sure. So LARI rewards are managed by SaucerSwap, meaning they're not subject to the ICHI manager fee. Just to briefly explain how LARI works in the context of Auto Pools, if you consider the HBAR-USDC V2 pool, it currently receives 17% of the SAUCE rewards per epoch, so this pool has two ICHI vaults, one for HBAR deposits and one for USDC deposits. These vaults will compete with regular liquidity providers for that 17% sauce allocation throughout the epoch. So when the epoch ends, SaucerSwap will calculate liquidity hours for all liquidity providers in that pool, including the HBAR and USDC vaults. SAUCE has been airdropped directly to users who deposited in those vaults, in proportion to their stake, as well as to those who manually provided liquidity in the pool.
Regarding the 14% ICHI manager fee, it's not taken from deposits, but rather from any fees earned by the vault, so there's no deposit or withdrawal fees. This is fairly standard for ALMs. They have to cover operational expenses associated with development and maintaining the protocol. So just to name an example, SushiSwap smart pools on Arbitrum. They're managed by Steer protocol and they charge a 15% performance fee, which is in line with ICHI.
Pine_apple
Great. Thanks for that explanation. I think this one is for Peter. Will there be airdrops as part of the marketing plans when listing SAUCE on an exchange?
Peter
Just before we answer that, just wanted to say for the people in the back, Auto Pools just basically means more time for GTL, which is just wanted to drop that one for 0x3a0.
We are currently not planning to do any airdrops for SAUCE when listing on new exchanges, that's not part of the marketing plan.
aBFTFTW
Yeah, but Peter, correct me if I'm wrong here. We are planning on making more time for GTL though. Is that correct?
Peter
Yeah, that's correct.
aBFTFTW
OK, I'm just checking my notes here. Our next one I'm teeing up for you, Joseph. So heads up. Celestial Being wants to know. I've noticed the SAUCE token on Sentx.io. Can you elaborate more on that particular partnership using SAUCE to buy NFTs question mark?
Joseph
Yeah, this one was a long time coming. So SentX recently integrated the sauce token into their NFT marketplace. Which means that if users can access the market by selecting the HBAR icon in the top bar and choosing the SAUCE market, so they can browse NFTs listed in with SAUCE. And through their NFT manager, can list any supported NFTs using SAUCE instead of HBAR.
I guess real quick, so for collections to be displayed, the royalty wallet of the collection must either be associated with SAUCE or not have any royalties. And last of note, SentX has doubled all SentX rewards on SAUCE denominated at NFT sales. I believe this last five days beginning March 8th.
So this integration is great to see. I believe it represents a step forward in bridging the gap between NFTs and DeFi. So we're looking forward to seeing its impact on existing collections, H&S domains and any new and up and coming projects.
Pine_apple
That's pretty awesome. So this next one is also from Celestial Being. As lending becomes more popular on the Hedera network, will SaucerSwap participate in or have a connection to lending protocols in the near term or future?
Joseph
Yeah. So this is another really exciting development. So I guess more recently, there was the addition of Pyth and Supra oracles. So these oracles utilized SaucerSwap Liquidity Pools to obtain accurate and trustless pricing data for HTS tokens. Since lending protocols lack the ability to price assets themselves, they then rely on these oracles for real time reliable market data. And this is to ensure precise loan to value calculations and collateral requirements.
So that's one way in which SaucerSwap is connected with these upcoming lending protocols. I also anticipate the advent of lending will boost stable coin liquidity as people commonly prefer to leverage their exposure to volatile assets through stable coins.
So there's several learning protocols that are currently in development, each adopting different strategies. I believe one is a fork of Compound and there's another being developed that's a fork of Aave V2. So Sirio, which is backed by HeadStarter, will support the borrowing and lending of the SAUCE token at launch. So I end by saying I think that Hedera DeFi is poised for significant developments as it continues to add this EVM tooling to support these primitives like lending.
aBFTFTW
All going according to plan it seems. Alright. So next coming from the community. So far things look smooth from the community perspective. What are a few challenges currently being faced by the team and how can the community help? Peter, you're our only hope.
Peter
Yes. So from a community perspective, everything is awesome. I think that's pretty self-evident. It also relates to the question about the Centralized Exchange earlier, that is not a problem at all. In fact, it's one of the greatest strengths is our engagement across socials. It's really a great advantage of SaucerSwap. We don't see many challenges to overcome from a community perspective, besides some traditional obstacles with scaling.
So right now, our user support is fine. If we need more user support, we could introduce a triage system for ticketing in our Discord, but so far that is fine. Most of our challenges do surround how to support an influx of new users, primarily on the development front, so we have needed to scale our systems to support more traffic. It's really a good problem to have and if the community is looking for ways to help grow, you know just active users and engagement, being active on social media is hands down the best way to help SaucerSwap grow.
So if you're looking to get involved, you know Reddit, Twitter or X, Telegram, and Discord, being active there is a great help.
Pine_apple
Great. Thanks for that, Peter. I think this next one is for Joseph. The community is wondering, would it be possible when providing liquidity in a V2 pool, to add a field that would roughly approximate expected earnings or a pool or APY for a given range?
Joseph
Yeah. So I think this is technically possible. We're actually assessing the feasibility that we might take a subgraph approach, but for the interim, we're prioritizing the projected LARI earnings.
aBFTFTW
Yeah, I like that idea. Community always give us your ideas because we can't think of everything. So you know, sounds like good idea, throw it out there. Next question is, are there any plans to implement any native cross-chain bridges, for example, bridge without leaving the SaucerSwap platform? Let's say you, Joseph.
Joseph
So we already integrated the Synapse SDK and built a user interface. The MetaMask requirement is also now met, so if Synapse does materialize, which I believe is contingent on their governance, then we can certainly add this native bridge support to our front end. We also have other options, but it may be premature to discuss.
Pine_apple
Awesome, thanks for that. So with higher attention on SaucerSwap, can we prove if this is due to engagement, marketing or something else? What are the team's efforts to keep SaucerSwap fast and steady? Peter?
Peter
The increased traffic to SaucerSwap is due to a number of factors. I think the main one is consistent development of the protocol. That's really been our philosophy from day one is to always be delivering new features and finding greater stability, increasing performance. And with SaucerSwap Version 2, we have greatly increased the capital efficiency, really catapulting of our on-chain metrics. Look no further than the liquidity page of SaucerSwap. You can see the TVL and volume charts. Specifically volume is pretty great; we've processed over $280 Million in volume in the last month. So it has really been a step function for usage.
Now, SaucerSwap is ranked within the top 20 DEXs across all chains. We have recently surpassed some kind of behemoths from the last cycle with over a billion dollars TVL in the last cycle. So, you know, Bancor, Quickswap. SaucerSwap ranks higher than those DEXs now. So it is really been awesome to see. I think this is the best marketing you can have because it allows new users to discover the project kind of on their own and be delighted by the experience when they come over, try it out and get involved in the community and in the socials.
So it's a bit of a different approach than the influencer marketing that a lot of Web3 projects tend to pursue. We simply have a different philosophy. We think that creating the best product and experience, getting real visibility via organic growth through, you know, actually making developments, announcing features and milestones via social media is the best way to sustainably grow a satisfied and high value user base. So we always put the user first in everything we do.
We're very serious about feedback and just generally working with our community is a cornerstone of our development process. So I hope that gives an answer as to why SaucerSwap has seen the increase in traffic and on-chain metrics that it has recently.
aBFTFTW
Yeah, some people would be like, why don't just buy a bunch of 4Chan gift ads at the bottom of the page. But you know, that's just not our style. Alright. Hi. Will you do order limits, just like SpookySwap on Fantom? Warm regards, Egon.
Joseph
So yeah, the plan is still to implement on-chain limit orders. In the meantime you can set fee earning limit orders through single asset deposit in V2. So this is a surprisingly lesser known but powerful feature of Concentrated Liquidity, and I recommend you watch tutorial 6 of the SaucerSwap Labs YouTube channel titled depth chart for a step to step walk through. And there's also plenty of reading material online, since this feature also exists in Uniswap V3.
Pine_apple
Great. Thanks for that. Joseph. Another comment from the community. In the current V2 pools, will there ever be an adjustment option implemented to bring liquidity tokens that are out of range back into range?
Joseph
Yeah. So this is Auto Pools, which the Testnet bug bounty is currently live. So just to recap, Auto Pools automatically rebalance your position to keep it within the desired range. Also, I'd like to remind you that removing your liquidity from a manual position once it falls out of range is not always advisable. Only if you anticipate the price will continue moving in the current direction. So Impermanent Loss can be reversed if the price returns to its level at the time of your original deposit.
aBFTFTW
Correct. Hence the term impermanent. Alright, can SaucerSwap support other tokens from other chains? Or is it always going to be Hedera?
Peter
Currently SaucerSwap only supports HTS tokens; that does include bridged tokens from other networks via Hashport or any other bridges that may come along and support Hedera. So for example, you can trade and hold Bitcoin on Hedera through wrapped Bitcoin HTS. That subscripts HTS denotes that it was bridged via Hashport. So if Hashport or another bridge add support for other tokens on other networks, those tokens can be bridged and used on SaucerSwap.
Pine_apple
So Dave is wondering, would SaucerSwap ever collaborate with influencers to promote SAUCE?
Peter
No, the answer is no. Our directive is to contribute to the open source SaucerSwap protocol and provide a first class interface to interact with the protocol. All of the associated marketing efforts revolve around the functionality and utility of the protocol rather than the SAUCE token, which is a protocol token with specified utilities.
aBFTFTW
Man, I don't know about y'all, but I miss BitBoy. Next question is, are the plans going forward going to make it easier to swap and stake SAUCE on iOS and other devices without the need for a Google extension?
Peter
There already is a pretty good way of doing this via the HashPack app. You can use the HashPack DApp browser to interact with SaucerSwap on iOS and in the future, we plan on looking into other ways to better support the SaucerSwap experience on mobile devices. Specifically, we are currently investigating an issue with Android devices that leads to the website freezing. Additionally, some of the core web vitals, which is kind of a measure for SEO assets, is not as good on mobile as it is on desktop. So we're adjusting that as well. So in time, the mobile experience should improve considerably.
Pine_apple
Great. Thanks for that, Peter. So this last question is from Time. When will Barb return?
So I'll go ahead and answer this because I've been in contact with Barb and she wants to let you all know that she's around. Her social battery is super low with all of the online stuff that happened. But with spring around the corner, maybe runs would help her mood.
aBFTFTW
Barbara, cornerstone of our community. And speaking of our community, thank you everyone that stuck around. It was a nice turn out for today. This is a long AMA. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm ready to kick back and relax for the rest of my weekend. But as for the usuge, Pine_apple has one more thing to say for everyone that's stuck around. Take us home, Pine_apple.
Pine_apple
Thanks aBFTFTW. So we had really good questions today with a lot of information. For those of you who missed portions of this AMA, the recordings will be uploaded to our AMA archive channel right here on our general Discord. The Auto Pools bug bounty is currently live, so feel free to give that a go. If you need help getting started on Testnet, please reach out to us in our General channel or create a support Ticket. And as always, if you have questions or need clarification on some other concepts or just DeFi in general, we're always here to help answer those.
Before we sign off tonight, the team would like to award a Dog Star to one of our Hedera community members that have been here since day one. He's been building cool things in the background and have always been a champion of the Hedera community at large. So thank you, Jax, for your unwavering support for Hedera and it's DeFi community and we love chatting with you over at Club HBAR. And with that my friends, thank you all for joining us. And I hope you can all help us find some bugs. Have a great night.
aBFTFTW
Jax. Y'all didn't tell me it was Jax.
Pine_apple
Yeah. Jax is the man.
aBFTFTW
True.
Peter
Alright, sounds good. Well, thanks everyone for joining us. We'll have more updates in due time. So thanks very much. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Joseph
Yep. Take care guys.

2024.02.15 19:25 katerdag [D] Rant/question: weird things happening with Weights and Biases sweeps

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but I just need to know if I’m the only one who’s experienced this and if anyone has got any tips for me, because: whenever I use the sweep functionality with Weights and Biases, weird things tend to happen.
The most consistent one is that if I start an agent for a wandb sweep in a python script with wandb.agent(sweep_id=sweep_id, function=my_function, count=count) with a higher count (say count=40), the GPU memory slowly starts to fill up without being released, and after a few runs (maybe 10, maybe 20, maybe 30), all new runs crash right at the start due to OOM errors from the GPU.
At first I thought this was a PyTorch thing, and I tried all sorts of hacks to prevent it from happening, like wrapping my_function in a wrapper that manually performs garbage collection (using gc.collect) afterwards. But nothing seemed to work.
Now I’m running wandb sweeps with JAX, and the same thing happens: a GPU with 40gb ram doesn’t have space for a 262144 bytes allocation with only 896.4KiB allocated by JAX. So after a bunch of successful runs, all new runs immediately crash with an OOM error (or more precisely: jaxlib.xla_extension.XlaRuntimeError: RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED: Out of memory while trying to allocate ... bytes.) .
Now the above is a very measurable and tangible thing that I know happens (I’ve previously monitored the memory used by a GPU in our office pc during a sweep, and could see that at some point, the memory wasn’t released any more, and all runs started crashing). But the next one is going to sound absolutely crazy.
Sometimes you get NaNs in deep learning. It sucks, but it just happens. So in one of my latest sweeps, I had a callback checking for NaNs and ending the run (through a RuntimeError with an appropriate error message) whenever the loss became NaN. Out of 53 runs, 11 runs were cut short due to NaNs, of which 8 had the NaN occur at the very first training step. The weird thing is: I was using two agents for this (random) sweep and those 8 runs were consecutive runs on the same agent.
These runs all had different configs and different random seeds. There was no variable in the sweep config the same for all of those 8 runs. If these crashes are independent, there is a 11/53 chance of a run ending in a NaN. The probability of 8 consecutive runs ending in a NaN is then (11/53)^8 = 3.44E-6.
To be fair: the probability of this happening over a long sequence of runs is larger than 3.44E-6, but still, it’s very small. Like: am I just being paranoid? Or did something happen with that agent that got me wrong results? I’ll test it in a bit, so you’ll probably see an edit with me admitting this was just pure bad luck.
Anyway, does anyone have tips on preventing these GPU OOM problems? Do people just put count to 1 and submit 80 jobs to slurm? Or is there a better way to do this?

2024.02.12 20:59 PirateFisher “Upgrading” from Cat s22

After my last post, decided to bite the bullet and buy a Cat S22 on T-Mobile. I love the simplicity, and my screen time has gone significantly down. I got this as a test phone and therefore has a different number than my main phone which is on Verizon.
On my Verizon plan, I have a line ready for an upgrade, and want to use that to transition my smartphone to a flip phone. However, with the options available, I’m not sure what to pick. I do need the ability to have group messaging and hotspot, as I plan on using a tablet as a device for email and other apps I would need.
My choices are
-Nokia 2720 -Kyocera Dura XV Extreme Plus (I know this one doesn’t support group messaging, but the non-plus is and has been out of stock) -TCL Flip Pro -Kazuna eTalk -Alcatel Go Flip V -Sonim XP3 Plus
If you have any other ideas that work on the Verizon network without rooting or hacking, that would be helpful as well.
Thank you in advance.
