Any Harley touring motorcycle riders in here?

2024.06.07 13:58 aecyberpro Any Harley touring motorcycle riders in here?

I’m looking for a way to mount my x4 and selfie stick to the tour pack. Currently I mount it without selfie stick to my ape hanger handlebars but I’d like to get those shots that look like I have a drone following me. I have the motorcycle kit but the clamp is too large to clamp onto the thin bars on the tour pack luggage rack.
Edit: I can’t wear a belt mount because my wife sits right behind me.

2024.06.05 07:35 brankoo124 Middleweight all-rounder reccomendation under 9k

Hi, at the end of 2023 I got my motorcycle driving license. Since then I rode Honda CRF300L for around 200km and some smaller bikes and scooters under 300cc in southeast Asia (about 3000km) always with a passenger. Also did some off-roading on Honda XR150L in northern Vietnam. Now I came back home to Europe and I am considering what bike to buy.
I have 191cm 75kg (6’2” 165lbs) and will be riding 50/50 alone and with passenger.
What exactly I want to do with my bike:
  1. Commute to work, drive in the city.
  2. Go for a long trips (2-4 weeks) and also shorter trips (4-5 days), both with passenger and 3 luggage cases.
  3. Also, I will probably ride 70/30 paved/unpaved roads, but no crazy off-road, maybe only something similar to Vietnam.
Ideally I'd like to spend 6-7k euros for a bike, but I am willing to go for 8-9k bike if it would be significantly better. From my small research I am considering 2 main categories: middleweight adventure bike or a scrambler.
Talking about exact models I am considering these:
  1. More off-road focused - BMW F800GS 2017, Triumph Tiger 800 2016 or KTM 790 Adventure R, all three for 8-9k used with full luggage and bunch of accessories already on them.
  2. More road focused - Suzuki V-Strom 650 2015-2020, Kawasaki Versys 650 2015+ or Honda Transalp 700 2010
  3. Others - I am also considering new Honda CL500 scrambler or some less known bikes, such as CF Moto 800 MT Touring, Voge 900 DSX or Benelli TRK 702 X, which all comes with bunch of accessories, 4-5 year warranty and I would not be keeping them longer than 2-3 years, so not really scared of them being manufactured in China.
So, If you managed to read until the end and you understand my dillema, what bike would you reccomend my needs? Appreciate all of the advices :)

2024.06.04 15:42 Other-Cantaloupe4765 Move ya motorcycles or get out 2: Electric Boogaloo (aka the update)

To recap: I made a post last week about two guests who refused to move their bigass bikes after I asked them multiple times because they were blocking traffic. I eventually told them to move the bikes or pack their bags and leave. They left. The girlfriend came back an hour later to get the pillow she’d left behind, threw her keys at me, and screamed “FUCK YOU” at me in the lobby while flipping me off. The next day, the FOM insisted I must’ve provoked them to make them speak to me like that, and she said I should’ve just let them park there.
So if you guys remember, I told you about the long email I’d sent to the GM about the situation and the disparity in how situations are handled. I took off of work that Thursday and Friday, so I didn’t get back to work until Saturday afternoon, and management doesn’t work on the weekends.
As soon as I walked in, I noticed that the guest’s name had been placed on the DNR list, and there was a big memo printed out and pinned to the office cork board. It was originally sent in an email to the front desk but was also printed as to make sure nobody accidentally missed it.
It said that, going forward, NO guests are permitted to park under the port-cochere. They can be there for loading and unloading luggage but nothing else. It also said that it was important to have ample space there in case an ambulance or fire truck needed to get through, which is something I specifically mentioned to the GM.
The funniest part is that the GM printed out the entire email. Including the part where he CC’d the FOM. And it’s hanging in the office, so everyone can see that he deliberately made sure she got the message. Delightfully petty.
He spoke to the FOM about the situation. He also spoke to the guest, who called him on Tuesday to bitch about me, and he told the guest that he was not allowed back in the hotel ever again.
I spoke with the GM myself yesterday. He said I did the right thing and mentioned that the guest was on the DNR list and nobody would be allowed to park there in the future. And he asked how I was doing and if I needed anything specific moving forward. We discussed some scheduling changes for me and recent work stuff in general.
I mentioned a higher paying job in my last post. I did apply and go to their job fair to do some preliminary stuff (like getting fingerprinted and registered online), but I don’t think it’s going to work out. Which kind of sucks, but that’s how it be in the job market these days. Can’t quit my current job if I don’t have another one locked in.
BUT. But. I did get a raise yesterday when I spoke to the GM. I know, I know, “and then everyone clapped,” right? 🤣 I did not get a raise due to the motorcycle incident. Unrelated to that completely. But it was a pretty good raise, and it’ll be on my next paycheck.
So I’m pretty satisfied with how things worked out. Tbh I was more enraged over the FOM telling me I was a liar and must’ve provoked them than I was over the guests being douche bags. But at least the GM had my back. I was surprised by that, but hey, it was a nice surprise.

2024.06.03 21:51 Glum_Future1041 This is my first time planning international travel on my own, and I find I have a lot of questions and no one to ask, so I am turning to you fine folks.

  1. I am flying from Seattle to Bangkok on JAL July 24, 2024. I purchased a one-way ticket because I am not certain how long I will want to stay. However, I am concerned about being turned away at the airport for not having a return ticket. I am aware of the onward travel services that allow one to “rent” a ticket for this purpose, but I am wondering if it will suffice if I purchase a fully refundable ticket myself, perhaps to a neighboring country (to keep the price down) and request a refund once in Thailand.
  2. Folks often recommend photocopying portions of your passport to carry on your person and leaving your actual passport secured in your hotel room. I have a U.S. passport card, in addition to my U.S. passport. Will this serve the same purpose as a photocopy of my actual passport?
  3. I would like to rent a scooter at the various locations I intend to visit. I have seen videos of travelers being ticketed by police for not having an International Drivers Permit, and am fine getting one, however, I cannot get one with a motorcycle endorsement, as my U.S. state license does not have one. Should I even bother? Would I be ticketed anyway if pulled over, even with the International Drivers Permit, if it does not have a motorcycle endorsement?
  4. I am spending my first few days in Bangkok before heading to Ko Samui. To save (a fair amount of) money, I chose a flight to Surat Thani and take a ferry to Ko Samui. My Air Asia flight arrives in Surat Thani at 11:05 am, and the ferry departs at noon. Am I cutting this too close? I will not be checking any luggage. I cannot seem to find out if there are later ferries to Samui.
Thanks in advance for your helpful answers!

2024.06.03 16:44 Avarria587 Luggage options for my NC750X. Top box vs side cases.

I recently purchased an NC750X. The bike is fantastic, but the frunk alone doesn't have quite enough space for some occasions.
My previous bike used a tail bag and tank bag. The tail bag was sketchy and I took it off. The tank bag was great. I can't use a tank bag with the NC750X. Bummer.
I've never tried a top box or side case on a motorcycle. I did have soft luggage on my scooter years ago. It came loose a fucked up part of the back end of the bike. No more luggage with straps for me.
How does each option affect handling? I don't want to add something to my bike that makes it difficult to ride.

2024.06.03 12:34 refrito_perdido Video of someone riding a large motorcycle on a dirt, off-road track

The overall tone of the video is humorous, given it's the wrong type of motorcycle for such a situation. The bike had the large, hard-sided luggage containers (trunk, sides) and overall, a very bulky look to it. The bike appeared to be from the 80s / possibly 90s? It would be the kind you'd see someone riding on the highway cross-country, and therefore it's ridiculous to see someone taking it on a single-track course with some minor jumps.

The Houseables Bungee Cords with Hooks have become a trusty companion in my daily life. Their 48-inch length ensures that I can secure even the heftiest objects without having to worry about them slipping away. The premium-grade rubber construction adds durability and resistance to stretching, guaranteeing these cords will stay strong for a long time.
The most impressive feature is the stretch capacity of these bungee cords, which can extend from 4 feet to a remarkable 10 feet. I've found that the extra length allows for better shock absorption, making it easier to manage heavy loads and maintain a smooth and safe transfer.
One of the things I appreciate the most is the adjustability of these cords. They can be easily manipulated and tightened to hold large items in place, while also being simple to release when needed. The flat hooks are a game-changer, as they lie better and create a more reliable attachment point compared to traditional round ones.
However, there is one minor drawback to these cords - the bright yellow color may not be to everyone's taste. Some may prefer a more subdued hue. Despite this, the overall performance and convenience of the Houseables Bungee Cords with Hooks make them a great choice for anyone in need of reliable and versatile straps for securing heavy items.

The Hampton Products Keeper 06180 Heavy-Duty Bungee Cord is a versatile and dependable product that truly stands out in the market. With its premium rubber lining on the inside, it has an impressive 10% more rubber content than conventional cords, ensuring optimal performance and long-lasting durability.
One of the most prominent features of this bungee cord is its professional-grade construction. The dichromate steel hooks at each end provide outstanding resistance against bending under pressure and are resistant to corrosion. Moreover, the material is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and UV rays, making it perfect for outdoor use.
Another excellent aspect of this bungee cord is its expansive adjustability. It stretches excellently for your cargo needs, making it a versatile and convenient choice for securing various items. The durable design ensures that the cord stretches perfectly over your cargo without compromising its strength.
However, like any product, there are a couple of cons. While the bungee cord is well-constructed, it can be a bit tricky to adjust, which might cause some inconvenience during use. Additionally, the steel hooks can be a bit sharp, which might require some extra care while handling.
Overall, this Hampton Products Keeper 06180 Heavy-Duty Bungee Cord is a remarkable product that is perfect for securing cargo and making your life easier. Its premium-quality construction, durability, and versatility make it a standout choice in the market. So, if you're in the market for a reliable and robust bungee cord, look no further than this exceptional product.

The Monkey Fingers Bungee Cord has been an absolute game-changer in my daily life. As an avid adventurer, I've had to deal with various tie-down situations, and this adjustable bungee cord has made my life so much easier. The unique, patented adjustable hook is not only practical but also makes it the last bungee cord I'll ever need to buy.
One of my favorite features is the ease of use and adjustability. Whether I'm working on a DIY project or going on a boating trip, this bungee cord can be quickly adjusted to fit my needs. Its length can be adjusted from 6 inches to 60 inches, and the marine-grade rubber core ensures it's strong and durable enough to handle any task.
However, there is one downside - it only comes in one size. I wish they offered a longer size for even more versatility. Overall, the Monkey Fingers Bungee Cord is a reliable, easy-to-use, and adaptable tool that has become an essential part of my outdoor adventures.

🔗Versatile Premium Bungee Cord Multi-Pack

I recently tried out the Keeper Bungee Cord Variety Pack, and I must say, it's been a game-changer in my daily life. This pack of 12 different bungee cords offers a wide range of options, ensuring you have the perfect cord for any situation. The 25cm, 46cm, 60cm, 80cm, and 90cm cords make it versatile and useful for various tasks.
But what really stood out for me is the premium quality of the cords. They are made from top-tier, long-lasting rubber that ensures they won't snap or lose their strength over time. The protective coating is a thoughtful feature that resists corrosion and won't chip my paint. Plus, the heavy gauge steel hooks are dependable and easy to use.
However, one downside I faced was with the mini cords. They were a bit too small for my needs, so I had to use them sparingly. But overall, the Keeper Bungee Cord Variety Pack was an excellent investment, providing me with a range of high-quality cords that have made my life easier.

As an avid camper, I found the Loop Rope Campers Pack to be a game-changer. Say goodbye to those pesky bungee cords that always seem to wear themselves out and end up with an unsightly mess. This Loop Rope system is not only safer, but also incredibly easy to use. The loops evenly placed on the rope eliminate the need for complex knots, while the double sided stainless steel clips secure your cargo perfectly.
I appreciate the versatility of this product. No matter what you're trying to secure, whether it's a boat, a mattress, camping gear, or even drying clothes, this Loop Rope system does the job with ease. The different lengths of clips make it even more suitable for various applications.
However, as with all products, it's not without its small drawbacks. The clips can be a bit difficult to attach at times, and it might take a bit of force to stretch the rope to the desired tension. Despite this, the pros certainly outweigh the cons, making the Loop Rope Campers Pack an indispensable addition to any camper's gear.

🔗Versatile Adjustable Bungee Cord with UV Protection

Using the Danik Hook Adjustable Bungee Cord has been a game-changer in my outdoor adventures. The adjustability feature allows you to set the length to your preferred range, from 6" to 48" unstretched. Its durability is evident with the UV-protected hooks and bungee, ensuring longevity and protection against the harsh elements.
One of the things I appreciate the most is the versatility of this product. It can be used in various settings, such as boating or camping, without any hassle. The option to swap out Bungee cords for 5/32" - 3/8" diameter ropes or parachute cord makes it even more adaptable to your needs.
Despite its great features, there's one downside: the Danik Hook Adjustable Bungee Cord can be a bit challenging to tighten the bungee cord and adjust the length. However, once you get the hang of it, it becomes a smooth process.
Overall, this Made in the USA adjustable bungee cord has made my outdoor experiences more convenient, and I highly recommend it for those seeking a strong, customizable, and adjustable bungee cord for their adventures.

🔗National Hardware Adjustable Bungee - The Ultimate Cargo Securing Solution

When I'm out exploring, I like to have a bungee that can handle anything thrown my way – and that's exactly what National Hardware's Adjustable Bungee offers. With carabiner hooks that can be used as tie-down straps or in place of ratchet straps, it's the only bungee I'll ever need.
The adjustable length from 9-in to 60-in allows me to secure my cargo without worrying about it shifting or being tossed around. The slip-resistant securing system and easy-to-use mounting feature also make it a reliable option for garage organization and securing sports balls on shelves.
One of my favorite features is the interchangeable carabiners – I can swap them out for S-hooks or quick-links depending on what I need to secure. Plus, the product comes with two adjustable bungees, which is double the amount of security for my adventures.
Overall, this bungee is a must-have for any explorer. It's easy to use, secure, and versatile, making it the perfect addition to any vehicle or outdoor excursion.

🔗Versatile and Durable Adjustable Cargo Net - Ideal for Outdoor Use and All Weather Conditions

https://preview.redd.it/xgow8km6x34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79cc2d5fcdcc248a4240206e97a3434e0160b7f2
I recently got my hands on the Flex-Web Adjustable Cargo Net, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer. This 72-inch net ensures I can safely secure my gear while on the go.
The unique feature of this net is its six adjustable arms, secured to a central powder-coated ring. It allows for a full adjustable net, perfect for those unpredictable cargo changes. The ABS plastic hook ends are a fantastic addition, as they prevent scratching surfaces and stay secure during transportation.
One of the things I appreciate most is the ability of each arm to stretch twice their length, making it easy to accommodate various cargo sizes. And with its UV, Chemical, Fuel, and Oil Resistance along with waterproof properties, this net is built to withstand all kinds of weather conditions.
While it's made in the USA since 2008, it's designed to be versatile, suitable for ATVs, motorcycles, UTVs, trucks, trailers - basically, anything you'd need a secure cargo net for. It's truly a fantastic product, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone in need of a durable and reliable bungee cord.

🔗Premium Adjustable Bungee Cords with Strong Steel Hooks and UV Protection

https://preview.redd.it/ddjtcg57x34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc25854739432f354370df1ba385c93f2b69d096
I've been using the SmartStraps Premium Adjustable Bungee Cords for a while now, and they've served my needs pretty well. The super strong cord is definitely more durable than the standard bungee cords I've used in the past. The adjustable feature is a game-changer, eliminating the need for multiple length cords. All you need is one bungee cord that can adapt to various situations.
However, I did notice that the cord's elasticity might degrade over time, especially in extreme weather conditions. Also, the steel hooks are not the best when it comes to scratch-resistance on delicate surfaces. But overall, these bungee cords are pretty convenient and useful for various situations.

🔗25 ft. Round Stretch Adjustable Bungee Cords

https://preview.redd.it/x8uyjn97x34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79c5d101f723a0243a1f531f391ec7687e0b9dc7
The Haul-Master 25 ft. Round Stretch Cord with Adjustable Hooks has become quite the life saver in my day-to-day activities. It's like having a superhero sidekick who's always there to help you secure and manage your cargo. Whether it's tying down a floppy hot tub tarp or securing a trailer cover through the winter, this bungee cord is the perfect tool for the job.
One of the most impressive features of this product is its adjustable length. It's like having a chameleon that can change its size on command. With the simple twist of a hook, I can easily adjust the cord to reach any length I need. This flexibility has turned what could be a cumbersome task into a breeze.
However, there's one downside I've noticed with this bungee cord. Despite its durability and easy-to-use design, the outer jacket seems to have a slight tendency to fade over time. Sure, it's not a major issue, but I would love to see a product that can withstand all the elements, not just some.
Overall, the Haul-Master 25 ft. Round Stretch Cord with Adjustable Hooks is a fantastic product. Its adaptability and strength make it a versatile tool in my arsenal, and I'm sure it will continue to come in handy for many projects to come. Despite the minor flaw, I would highly recommend this bungee cord to anyone in need of a reliable tie-down solution.

🔗High Quality Orange Adjustable Bungee Cords (36") for Durable Hold

https://preview.redd.it/gwclgkq7x34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b7e739de02a0f775841485b73ccdcfac7e03359
As someone who's had the pleasure of using a set of Keeper Bungee Cords, I must say, they're a game changer. The vibrant orange color sure catches the eye and makes it easy to spot in any environment. And boy, do they live up to the "durable outer jacket" claim. I've left them out in the sun for days, and not once have they shown any signs of wear.
The industrial-strength design is quite impressive too. The hooks are definitely larger than your average bungee cord, which means fewer scratches on my belongings. I particularly appreciate that they're corrosion-resistant, ensuring they'll last a lifetime.
However, there's one thing I wish was different - the thickness. At 0.374 inches, it can sometimes be a bit too thick for certain tasks, making it a bit cumbersome to use. But overall, the Keeper Bungee Cords are a fantastic investment for those who need a reliable and sturdy solution for securing their goods.

🔗Durable Heavy Duty Adjustable Bungee Straps for Camping and Outdoor Use

https://preview.redd.it/mhe6zq98x34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33dde90181f498c5524dcbb2de536a534d33d061
I recently gave Axemax's Heavy Duty Bungee Cords a try and have to say, they impressed me. The color-coding feature made it a breeze to organize my belongings, and I loved the variety of sizes they offer. The durable rubber and cross-woven latex material held up to some rough use, and the UV resistance means these cords will keep their color even after spending time outside.
On the downside, I found the hook design could be a bit more robust. A couple of times, I had issues with the hooks breaking or loosening under pressure. However, this issue was outweighed by the convenience of having a carry bag for easy storage and retrieval of the cords.
All in all, these adjustable bungee cords make a useful addition to any outdoor adventure or work situation, providing flexibility and durability. I'd definitely recommend them to my friends!

🔗Premium Adjustable Bungee Cords for Versatile Luggage Support

I recently tried out the MOLADRI Black Adjustable Bungee Cords with Hooks Set, and I have to say, they've become a lifesaver in my daily life. These bungee cords are incredibly versatile, offering multiple uses such as securing luggage to the roof of my car or holding down a picnic tablecloth during a windy outdoor meal.
One striking feature that stood out to me is their adjustability. The length of these cords can be easily adapted to fit a wide range of situations, making them an essential item for anyone on the go. The flat, heavy-duty design also impressed me, as it not only absorbed shock from bumps and turns but also evenly distributed the load, improving the safety of my cargo.
However, while the flat design is a plus for securing heavy objects, it does make it difficult to use these bungee cords for less substantial items. Additionally, the metal hooks at the ends of the cords add extra durability, but they can be a bit tricky to untangle when storing them.
Overall, the MOLADRI Black Adjustable Bungee Cords with Hooks Set has become an indispensable part of my daily routine, thanks to their versatility and durability. Despite the occasional struggles with untangling the hooks, the benefits far outweigh the inconveniences, making this set a wise purchase for anyone in need of a reliable and adaptable bungee cord.

I recently tried out the Monkey Fingers Adjustable Bungee Cords, and let me tell you, they're a game-changer for anyone who needs to keep their cargo secure. The bright red color definitely stands out, making it easy to see even in low-light situations. The 2-pack is perfect for keeping one in the car and one on your boat or ATV.
The adjustability of the bungee cords is truly a lifesaver, letting me quickly switch between lengths depending on the load at hand. The hooks are sturdy, making it easy to secure even the heaviest loads, and the bungee cords themselves are incredibly durable, withstanding harsh sun and salt water without any issues. My only complaint is that the hooks could use a slightly larger size for securing cargo on ATVs.
Overall, these are the best bungee cords I've ever tried, and I highly recommend them! .

Buyer's Guide

Adjustable bungee cords are versatile and practical tools that can be used for a wide range of purposes. They come in various widths, lengths, and capacities, making them suitable for different applications.

Important Features

1. Stretch Capacity

https://preview.redd.it/lfp9yhuax34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7ff8addd0f24e9adf3f4f66aeb5dfed5d47f6b1
The stretch capacity of an adjustable bungee cord is the maximum distance it can stretch without breaking. This is an important consideration when choosing the right bungee cord for your needs. For smaller loads, a lower stretch capacity will suffice, while for heavier loads, a higher stretch capacity is required.

2. Diameter

The diameter of an adjustable bungee cord affects its strength and flexibility. A wider cord is generally stronger, but more inflexible, while a narrower cord is more flexible but less strong. Choose a bungee cord's diameter based on the load it will be supporting and the angles it will need to stretch at.

3. Coated or Uncoated

Adjustable bungee cords can either be coated or uncoated. Coated cords are more resistant to wear and tear, making them suitable for heavy-duty applications, while uncoated cords are more flexible and lightweight, making them suitable for light-duty applications.

4. Quality and Durability

To ensure the longevity of your adjustable bungee cord, choose one made from high-quality materials and built for durability. Look for reinforced end fittings and sturdy construction.

Considerations Before Buying

1. How You Will Use the Bungee Cord

Consider the specific application for your adjustable bungee cord. Will it be used to secure a load to a vehicle, to hold two objects together, or for stretching exercises? Understanding how you will use the bungee cord will help you choose the right one with the appropriate stretch capacity and diameter.

2. Budget

Adjustable bungee cords come in a wide range of prices, depending on their size, strength, and quality. Determine your budget before making a purchase, and consider the bungee cord's expected lifespan and suitability for your applications. Remember, cheaper options might not always be the best value.

3. Brand Reputation

https://preview.redd.it/g37l8ckbx34d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a720f58177e61675d9f9ba77068cd0c9c91ab6b
Some brands have better quality control and produce more durable adjustable bungee cords than others. Research the brand's reputation before making a purchase, and look for positive reviews and experiences from other users.

General Advice and Precautions

1. Always Read the Instructions

Before using an adjustable bungee cord, always read the manufacturer's instructions for proper handling and usage. This can help you avoid accidents and damage to your load or the bungee cord itself.

2. Avoid Overstretching

Do not overstretch your adjustable bungee cord, as this can cause it to snap and potentially cause injury. Make sure to secure the bungee cord appropriately and only stretch it as far as it is designed to stretch.

3. Keep the Cord Organized and Tangled-Free

A tangled or knotted bungee cord can be difficult to deal with and can even damage the cord. Make sure to keep your adjustable bungee cord organized and untangled to extend its lifespan and maintain its strength and flexibility.

4. Choose the Right Bungee Cord for the Job

Using the wrong bungee cord for the job can lead to accidents, damage to your load, and even personal injury. Always choose the appropriate bungee cord based on your load's weight, the distance it needs to stretch, and the angles involved in the stretching.

2,000 mile road trip in three days - AMA
https://preview.redd.it/drxvj5sgg04d1.jpg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99dab6c8a2133833ee9fc35d2000591f63db7dfd
Intro - I just finished a 2,000 mile road trip traveling from Houston, TX to Albany, NY via southern Georgia over about three days of driving.
Stats - Here are the charging stats (minus the cost for one Electrify America charging stop that I cannot see that I was actual charged. I did get the kilowatts, though. So, may need to add $20 to the total costs below (I did not).
- Average 2.33 mi/kWh
- Total 853 kWh
- Average 61 mi/hr
- Total 1d 8hr 28min
- 14 charge stops
- Cost $302.42 or 15.3¢/mi
Charging - Mostly Tesla and Rivian fast charging. There were lots vacant spots for charging. People I saw were friendly, and zero problems at all using the A2Z adapter. Tesla charging spots at Sheetz and Bucees gas stations were fantastic. I would typically come into a charging station with about 20 to 30% charge and leave at about 75 to 80% charge.
Error - Experienced one error, where an adaptive cruise would not engage, even though driver plus was eligible. I called Support and they picked up almost immediately. The very friendly agent walked me through how to reboot the car, which I did and then and ACC was working again. I was on my way with probably only about a 10 minute delay.
Driver+ - This worked really well. My only complaint is that it was not eligible on more roads.
Comfort - Seats were comfortable for all day driving. The AC climate control was quite good at keeping the temperature. Only a time or two did I need to adjust the temperature up or down, and then only by a degree.
Hauling/handling - Counting myself I had about an extra 1,000 pounds in the truck. I never noticed it. Handled great.
Storage & Gear lock - Tons of space for luggage in frunk and gear tunnel. So much so that I only had my laptop bag in the cabin. Used the lock on my motorcycle and the ramp. All good, but admittedly not much of a test.
Routing in car & app - Mixed reviews here. It works, but modifying your route is not always easy to do. I only pulled up google maps a few times when I hit heavy traffic to find alternatives. The app routing is good for planning, but I did not love it.

2024.05.31 05:31 Classic_Prior_293 New, tall, older rider - best 1st bike?

Hi all,
I'm 6'3", 36" inseam. 225 pounds. 65 years old. I've taken the MSF class & recently got my motorcycle license. Now I'm looking for my first bike.
My challenge: finding a bike that's not too powerful for a novice like me but also is big enough (generous rider triangle) so my knees don't explode. I'd also like a bike that will one day be able to carry luggage + pillion for road touring.
Adventure bikes seem like the best way to go. One top option: the Honda CB500X (NX500). Problem is, I've seen multiple reviews that say it's too cramped for riders over 6'. ... The geometry & general specs of the Suzuki 800RE look good, but it seems like too much power for a newbie. Is it? (The Suzuki has 3 power modes to temper the throttle. Would setting an 800 engine in rain mode be helpful? Or is that still far too much bike for me?)
Do you folks have any recommendations or suggestions? All feedback welcome (including: "you're too old for this game, Boomer" 😂)
Thanks in advance.

2024.05.30 19:03 TheDelig I decided to buy a brand new DR650. It's a blast for sure.

Coming from Harleys this is my first bike with a chain. So that will need to be maintained. I've been riding around for the past day and a half having quite a bit of fun on it. I'm not beating on it however.
I do have a question. I'm planning on taking a ride up the interstate this weekend. It's about two hundred miles round trip. All the interstate riding would likely be 70mph so higher RPMs than I'm typically riding at, and constantly for about an hour. Would this be bad for breaking in the engine? This is my first brand new vehicle and my first break-in. Excuse my quite basic question.
My assumption is that this is essentially a tractor engine of a motorcycle and breaking it at all would be quite difficult to do and I'm being a bit over cautious.
My accessory plans are bark busters, a luggage rack and a windshield. Then eventually a larger gas tank. Should I take the upper chain roller off ASAP? I've heard it's just a pointless risk to keep it on.

2024.05.29 11:12 Other-Cantaloupe4765 Asshole refuses to move his motorcycles out of the way, so I kicked his ass out. His GF returned to throw a screaming fit.

Like many hotels, at the front of our building we have sort of a covered arch in front of our main entrance. The area where people park temporarily while they check in and unload their luggage before moving it to an actual parking space. That thing. Whatever it’s called.
Earlier in the afternoon, a man came inside to check in. He was very nice and respectful. He asked if it would be okay for him to park his motorcycle outside under the arch for the night as long as he keeps it out of the way. I glanced outside to see where it was. It was just a small motorcycle, and he had it parked flush against the edge of this area, so I said that was fine as long as it stayed there and wasn’t obstructing traffic in any way.
Great, end of story, right? Wrong! A few hours later, David checks in with his gf. They have two wide motorcycles, and each one has a bigass trailer attached to the back of it. They parked them both under the unloading area outside. I figured that they’d move them since they were obviously blocking a lot of traffic trying to get through. If a truck or RV couldn’t get through, how the hell is a fire truck or an ambulance supposed to get through?
They checked in, paid in cash, and went up to their room. When I next saw David walking through the lobby a few minutes later, I asked if he was planning to move the vehicles since they were obstructing others. He dismissed me and said, “maybe after the storm. I’ll think about it.”
Bitch what? He’d already gotten in the elevator, so I waited a few minutes. I got two guest complaints about not being able to get their cars through the arch. So after speaking to those guests and apologizing, I called Dave’s room. Twice. No answer. I called his cellphone. He answered. I said I’d gotten multiple complaints and that I needed him to please come down and move the vehicles. He said fine, he’d be down in a few minutes.
He did come down after a few minutes. He did go outside. But idk what he did out there because he most certainly did not move the vehicles. Ten minutes later I see him walk through the lobby, but a guest was coming in at that time, so I couldn’t catch him. The guest complained about the two large bikes outside. David walked through the lobby again a couple minutes later to go back outside.
After another five minutes, he came back in, and I caught him before he got in the elevator. I asked him to move the bikes as soon as possible. He said he wasn’t moving shit. I said, “you need to move them soon, please.”
“Tell ya what, you get the other guy to move his bike first, and then I’ll think about moving mine.”
“I need you to move them soon, please.”
He ignored me and went up to his room.
I had a couple things to do in the meantime, but after 15 minutes without him moving the bikes, I called his room. He picked up by saying “what?”
“I’ve asked you nicely multiple times. Now I’m telling you that you either move the vehicles somewhere else or you find another place to stay.”
“How about I come down to the desk and you give me my money back.”
“Great.” And I hung up. I got the correct amount out of the drawer and paper clipped it for whenever he got down to the desk.
He arrived and I held out his money to him. He didn’t take it. He said, “I want to speak to your manager now.”
“My manager isn’t here right now. You need to leave.” and I sort of shook my outstretched hand as an emphasis of ‘take your money and gtfo.’
“Well then give me their cellphone number because I’m calling them right now.”
“You can call the hotel tomorrow. Right now you need to leave.”
“This is fucking bullshit. If one person can park out front, you have to let everyone park out front. You can’t pick and choose. It’s not fair.”
Oh grow the fuck up 🙄 They aren’t obstructing traffic. They asked permission. They were here hours before you showed up. Gtfo of here with that iT’s NoT fAiR bullshit. If someone leaves their car or truck out front, I call and ask them to move it, too. Why? Because it’s obstructing traffic.
So he got his shit together and left with his gf. I went upstairs to check the room, worried he’d trashed it out of spite. There was garbage thrown on the floor, but other than that it was fine. One of them left their pillow behind, so I grabbed that and took it downstairs to the office figuring that they’d be back for it later.
An hour later, GF stops at the desk and says “I want my fucking pillow back.”
I got up and noticed the elevator was still open, so obviously she’d snuck in a side door and tried to go up to the room. I asked her to return the keys. She threw them at me and said, “it’s not like it fucking matters if you have the keys, since you can change the code whenever the fuck you want.”
I just looked at her, unimpressed, and didn’t say anything. I handed her the pillow. She turned to leave but, after a few steps, she turned around, flipped me off, and screamed, “FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU, AND FUCK [hotel brand]! I’M LEAVING A BIG REVIEW FOR YOU, ASSHOLE.”
I just said, “good!” Like yeah, leave a review, bitch. I dare you.
Pissed me off so much. Worst part is, when I came in the next day, the front office manager said, “well, you must’ve done something to provoke them. You must’ve raised your voice or swore at them to make them act like that.”
Excuse me? I did not. “Well you have to think about it from their point of view. They probably felt like you were being rude to them. And the cameras don’t have sound, so we [managers] can’t really know what happened.”
Uh, yes you can, because I fucking told you. What, a lady calls you a bitch in passing and she goes on the DNR list that same hour, but this woman screams “fuck you” at me in the middle of the lobby and suddenly it’s “you must’ve provoked her, we don’t know what actually happened.”
I said I’d rather quit than work a job where management allows guests to act like that to their employees. She told me to take it up with the GM if I didn’t like it. So I did. I sent him a long email supported by examples. I said I won’t continue to work there unless the disparity in how situations are handled based on whether they happen to management vs employees is resolved. I took an extra day off. Actually got a better paying job offer too. My GM said we’ll discuss the email in person on Friday. If he takes the guest’s side, I’m taking the other job. Suck it.

2024.05.29 01:33 amaleah72 Middle weight touring bike, Versys 650, Honda Transalp 750, etc.

I am looking to get a middle weight touring motorcycle, that is in the style of an upright adv bike. I currently ride a GSXR1000, I have contemplated selling it and getting the 2024 Tiger 900 GT Pro but I feel like I'd regret it and miss the bike, so I am thinking about getting an under $10,000 touring/adv bike.
My eyes are looking at the Versys 650, possibly the Honda Transalp 750 even though its a little more, maybe a VStrom 800. Anyone have any opinions on these bikes? Is the Versys 650 enough for highway cruising and passing, adding luggage for a week long tour trip? I want to do these long trips but body has a long spine and legs, its really uncomfortable to be on the gsxr for more then maybe two hours..and I want to be able to ride 6 hours in a day.

Hey y’all I posted this yesterday and figured I’d leave it here in case it helps any of y’all not trying to break the bank on some motorcycle luggage! The box is universal and the mounting procedure should be pretty similar on most bikes as long as you have a tail rack. Top case sizes range from 35L-80L capacity and I have the 55L.
In the second half of the video I spent some time showing what I deem to be essentials to pack on your motorcycle especially if you are going to be touring or adventure riding.
If you enjoy the video please consider liking and subscribing! Have a good rest of your day :)
