TLDR: It's an amazing site with no filters and a ton of chat bots. Use my invite code to get 100 stars (aka 100 messages) free when you sign up: mr0kmhx9
I don't typically make posts on this account, but I wanted to share my experience so far. For one, there are no filters whatsoever. You can say basically anything you want and the only limitation is your own imagination. That's not something you always see very often and since it's AI powered, it can do a pretty decent job with keeping up with whatever you want to say, unlike some older chat bots that were basically programmed by hand and only have a select number of responses.
They also have a very generous free-to-play style model. They have an "in-game" currency system called stars. Each star is the equivalent of one message. When you sign up, you immediately get 75 stars. They also give a daily 25 stars plus a bonus of 50 that you claim daily.
As for the bots themselves. I tried a few, both SFW and NSFW. I'll be honest and say I dabbled in chat bots a bit when I was younger, but the amount of freedom you have with most of the bots on here is astounding.
There's a variety of characters that you can interact with. Most of which are roleplay oriented. they make it pretty easy to filter down to whatever it is you're actually looking for. If what you want isn't there, you could even try making your own. Although I haven't really looked into this too much yet myself, so I can't attest to how it works or how well it works.
The only gripe I have so far is that you can't search NSFW models on the app (but that could be a limitation from Apple). If you can, there isn't an obvious indicator that it's NSFW. However, this isn't really a big issue as the mobile site works well and if you start a chat (by simply clicking on the model you want to talk to) it will sync with the app, so you have it available there.
All in all, it's a really awesome service that I'm genuinely considering picking up a subscription for. A subscription gives you unlimited messages and no ads. From what I can tell the character creation might also have a limit, so the subscription unlocks that limit as well.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, they also have an invite system that allows you to get free stars for using and sharing your invite codes. When an invite is redeemed, each person gets 100 stars.
It would help both me and you out if you use my invite code below and that will give you a far better chance to explore the site as a whole and try out a few more models before committing to anything long term.

2024.05.14 19:19 TalionDCU APB: Second Half Progress?

APB: Second Half Progress?
Last week I was talking about how Troy Lesesne was trying to find a way to keep the team from wilting in the second halves of games. I worried it might not be possible with the somewhat messed-up roster, but it feels like some progress has been made.
In this game, instead of waiting patiently for DC United to wilt, Pineda subbed off a winger (Edwin Mosquera) at halftime and subbed on Dax McCarty to reinforce a midfield battle that Klich and Hopkins had been winning in the first half. I didn’t check to see if this happened at the half, but certainly after the third goal, Lesesne pulled the team back into a low block and defended in a 5-4-1 instead of a 5-3-2, leaving Benteke as a lone high outlet. This slowed down DC’s offense but successfully denied Atlanta much in the way of chances. Lesesne put Pirani on for Stroud in the 73rd minute, both for fresh legs and perhaps because Pirani is—at least theoretically—better than Stroud at holding on to the ball while outnumbered and finding a pass under pressure. This didn’t pay off with a goal, but he did help generate a few shots, which lately have been few and far between after halftime.
I wanted to see if I could validate my fuzzy sense of improvement with some objective stats. We’re twelve games into the season, so maybe we can see some trends. Note that I normally use FBref, but for this I’m using Fotmob stats because they let me filter by half.
The first question is do the stats even confirm the eye test that this is a real issue?
Answer: yes. Kind of.
DC’s overall goal difference:
  • Overall: 0
  • Second halves: -3
Expected goal difference (DC’s xG minus opposing team xG):
  • Overall: +2.06
  • Second halves: -0.43
Big chance difference (DC’s “big chance” stat minus the opposition’s “big chance” stat):
  • Overall: +4
  • Second halves: -1
So this seems like a significant effect. My first thought was it doesn’t seem as big as I would have thought, but it’s worth noting that DC’s overall xG difference is 4th best in the league. Their second half xG difference, if it were the team’s overall, would be near the bottom of the eastern conference.
What about the trend? I tried looking at trends by looking at stats like xG and big chances based on the percentage DC had in the second half, but those charts didn’t tell the story I wanted them to tell seemed either too noisy or too impacted by the game state. I think the best view is just second half xG difference, so here that is game-by-game:
https://preview.redd.it/k8l2v4fsdf0d1.png?width=721&format=png&auto=webp&s=1726fcb05e73a7eaca197cc71be0fd07b1f2790d
Overall, you’ve got to like that trend over the past four games! Although it looks more dramatic because of how terrible that NYCFC game was. Also, it’s worth noting that the Orlando City game involved a brutal collapse on the scoresheet but doesn’t look so bad in xG terms.
Here’s the same thing broken out so you can see our xG and xG allowed in the second halves of each game:
https://preview.redd.it/pb1wpywudf0d1.png?width=712&format=png&auto=webp&s=5cb4851458a2d1401193ebf9290658394902d412
My big takeaway is that we should try not to get crushed like in the Inter Miami and NYCFC games. Instead, we should do the crushing, like we did against New England and Portland. How’s that for hard-hitting analysis?
Finally, let’s look at DC’s xG difference in each half:
https://preview.redd.it/k8z6c38xdf0d1.png?width=716&format=png&auto=webp&s=18f9ef4f6f41cfd5203dfec6865d6565df201af6
From this, you can see there’s been several games with clear meltdowns: St. Louis City, CF Montreal, and Seattle. And a few where DC was a bit worse: New England, Cincinnati, NYCFC, and Philadelphia. Portland was the one really big turnaround, but Columbus and Atlanta were both improvements.
As always with soccer stats, this is mostly a matter of entertainment and not scientific truth, but I’ll keep an eye on things as we go forward.
See my full game writeup for more from the Atlanta game, including player ratings, Ted Ku-Dipietro leading all MLS players in a silly stat, and more.

2024.05.14 19:00 GonzoGnostalgic What are some "never left the hangar" indie projects you remember (can be games or otherwise—the more obscure, the better)?

Someone in a thread here mentioned Zybourne Clock—that game pitch on the SomethingAwful Forums that was just a bunch of badly-drawn concept art and way-too-ambitious, unconnected plot beats—and it gave me a brain blast thinking about all the little forum start-ups I've seen in my time, posted by excited kids who love drawing their OCs and imagining cool fight scenes, but don't actually know anything about game design or roadmapping a project.
I'm a big fan of the animatostreamer Khonjin, and one of his big, lifelong projects is the realization of a story called "Supermental," first seen in a now-deleted forum thread (I forget the name of the site, was one of those small-batch Jcink forums) where the idea was first pitched as a game that would be enormous in scope, an epic story, and combine "eight genres of gameplay in one game, including rhythm, RPG, fighting game mechanics, platforming, and more." That the thread was so old when I discovered it and everyone in it had likely been kids when it had been made told me that this incarnation of the game would likely never exist in any form, and the sheer scope and size of the game projected with nothing to show for it but pages of character desisgns and a single GIF of a platforming segment made in Game Maker was one of those really incredible high water marks left by the boundless ambition of youth.
At the time, Khonjin's primary work of note, the animated web series Khonjin House had concluded with a severe escalation in stakes and a direct lead-in to a new animated web series called Supermental, along with an accompanying ARG, so everyone who was invested was scrambling for clues across his entire history on the internet. We were also trying to figure out what Supermental was going to be about. Not even the the original game dev thread had any answers as to what the plot actually was. The discovery that the projected main protagonist of that old game idea, Jack, was the prototype for Jack Pent, the main antagonist of Khonjin House, definitely seemed to indicate some kind of relevancy, though.
Khonjin House had been full of little, unexplained names and references that were definitely going to be important to Supermental, and the fan speculation leading up to the little bits of reveal we got in the series proper was some of my personal favorite fandom activity I've ever participated in. Finding out who Smack was—a character who was often mentioned by name in the series but never seen—and then finding out that he and Pent hate each others' guts and have been trying to kill each other, AND THEN finding out Supermental was going to be prequel and that they used to be best friends was an incredible wave to be on.
And then we got the announcement: the Supermental animated series on YouTube was just to get the fans hyped up for the Kickstarter for the Supermental game, revived after all these years!
Unfortunately, it was too good to be true. The Kickstarter had an intriguing animated trailer, but no gameplay. Not even a mention of what gameplay would be like. We did get an update later on, showing it would be a SRB2-like 3D platformer with 2D sprite characters, but by then, the momentum had been lost. I donated to the Kickstarter, as did several fans, but we never reached funding and the project was canned.
All that was left was the ARG, which was still ongoing and was supposed to reveal what Supermental was actually about once it was solved. Unfortunately, the last shot in the foot for the whole thing came when Khonjin lost patience with everyone for taking too long to solve the clues and just lore-dumped the whole thing.
The plot of the game ended up being a super personal extended metaphor for gender dysphoria and transitioning, inspired by the struggles of a close trans friend of Khonjin's who had died. It felt like a story he had really wanted to get out into the world at all costs, for many, many years by then, ultimately resigning to a bitter, 2 a.m. paragraphs-long lore dump in a Discord channel. The mystery was over. I still have no idea how that would have translated to a platformer game, but hey—Super Paper Mario did alright, so who knows.
I still think about that a lot. Supermental for me is the reigning king of that sort of incredibly ambitious creative project you undertake with your friends when you're young, firing off aimlessly in any direction, struggling to be born, picking up more meaning and consuming other ideas as you grow alongside it. It's been a minute since I checked in on the status of anything related to it, and since Khonjin—to my knowledge—has uploaded or said anything pertaining to it, but I would like to see it realized in some form one day.
So, what are some of your favorite stories of stillborn projects? This isn't about Scalebound or shit like that. I want stories of game projects you discovered in forums when you were in high school that had tons character art but no one on the team who knew how to program. Kickstarters you were interested in but knew had no chance in Hell of clearing even a fourth of their funding goal because they didn't have a single screenshot of in-engine visuals on the page. Even other well-known failure stories are welcome here; I'm interested in learning about more infamous failures like Zybourne Clock as well, things y'all might no about, but that escaped my radar. Doesn't have to be games either; movies, animations, 'zines, comics... anything.

***Prices are subject to change.

How to Pick the Right Air Purifier. Things to consider

Consider the Pollutants You Want to Target:

  • Allergens: Look for a purifier with a True HEPA filter, which captures particles as small as 0.3 microns, including dust, pollen, and pet dander.
  • Smoke and odors: Opt for a purifier with an activated carbon filter, which tackles smoke, cooking smells, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Bacteria and viruses: Some purifiers use UV light or plasma ionization to kill airborne pathogens. However, their effectiveness and safety for long-term use are debated. Consider these features supplemental, not a replacement for true HEPA filtration.
Choose the Right Size for Your Space:

  • Air purifier capacity is measured in Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR). Higher CADR indicates faster air cleaning in a larger room.
  • The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) certifies CADR for smoke, dust, and pollen. Look for a CADR rating that covers your room size for the target pollutants.
  • A general rule: Choose a CADR at least 2/3 the square footage of the room. For example, a 300 CADR purifier is suitable for a 150 sq. ft. room.
Think About Noise Level and Energy Efficiency:

  • Air purifiers run continuously, so noise level is important. Look for models with decibel (dB) ratings that suit your preferences. Lower dB indicates quieter operation.
  • Energy Star certified purifiers use less energy, saving you money on electricity bills.
Additional Features to Consider:

  • Replacement filter costs: Factor in the cost and frequency of filter replacements. True HEPA filters typically need replacing every 6-12 months.
  • Smart features: Some purifiers offer Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing control through apps for scheduling, filter monitoring, and air quality checks.
  • Auto mode: This feature automatically adjusts fan speed based on air quality sensor readings.

What are the Benefits of Using Air Purifiers

Breathing clean air is essential for maintaining good health, and air purifiers offer a powerful tool to improve the quality of the air you breathe indoors. Here are some key benefits you can experience by using an air purifier:

  • Improved Respiratory Health: Air purifiers significantly reduce airborne pollutants like dust, pollen, pet dander, and smoke. This can be especially beneficial for people suffering from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory issues. By removing these irritants, air purifiers can ease congestion, coughing, and difficulty breathing, allowing you to breathe easier and experience improved overall respiratory health.
  • Reduced Allergens and Dust: If you struggle with seasonal allergies or dust sensitivity, air purifiers can be a game-changer. HEPA filters effectively capture allergens as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, dust mites, and pet dander. This can significantly reduce allergy symptoms like itchy eyes, runny nose, and sneezing, leading to a more comfortable and allergy-free living environment.
  • Relief from Pet Dander and Smoke: Pet dander is a common allergen for many people, and air purifiers with HEPA filters can effectively remove it from the air. This can alleviate allergy symptoms triggered by pets and improve overall indoor air quality for pet owners and non-pet owners alike. Additionally, air purifiers with activated carbon filters can help reduce smoke particles and odors, providing relief for those living in areas with wildfires or those exposed to secondhand smoke.
  • Improved Sleep Quality: Clean air plays a vital role in getting a good night's sleep. Allergens and pollutants can disrupt sleep patterns by causing congestion, coughing, and difficulty breathing. Air purifiers can help by removing these irritants, creating a cleaner and more comfortable sleeping environment. This can lead to deeper, more restful sleep, leaving you feeling more energized and refreshed in the morning.
  • Reduced Risk of Airborne Illnesses: While air purifiers cannot eliminate viruses and bacteria entirely, some models with additional features like UV light or plasma ionization may help reduce their spread. Combined with other measures like proper ventilation and hygiene, air purifiers can contribute to a healthier indoor environment by potentially reducing the risk of airborne illnesses.

2024.05.14 18:44 NKORE_S Winter, through a window

What people don't tell you about fear, is that it comes over you like snow: in waves.
The sky could be quiet and sickly white, devoid of its light lost to the melting ice over the surface of the earth. The snow puts on pressure: the highest drains on the block roofs are groaning with the wind. The sludge of decaying snow is brought up, high up by human feet as the water accumulates on the steps. The Eastern winter is not a calm place from the eyes of one who stares at it through a window. While the adults force their boots through the sea of white and children coming from school mutilate the white through their own games, one cannot feel the cold or the rain under a roof; above that another roof, and soon another, climbing the floors of the towering block among the white earth.
Within the cells of the building, families huddle in rooms, mindlessly enjoying the human company all people crave like dogs for meat. And lonely people huddle with the light in their rooms, the isolated and ill who could not bring themselves to play their part among the web of people that treads over the snow every winter. And we seem to notice: notice how the people change themselves when the skies go white and the nights long and black, how they weave in and out of buildings, heat up food and homes, how they match the weary winter.
Now notice how the fear doesn't leave with the sun, the light cut short by winter's nights. The people watching life through the windows have stepped away from the taunting eyes that litter the building's walls. Some lie in their bed, wondering how many days they can force through, how much longer can they experience the human life. The block is full of these isolated, during day they sleep and in night they stand on balconies. They leave the cold rooms, they smoke and watch the dead white city through empty air. To many, the long nights bring comfort.
The fear inevitably arrives not long later, along with the sun.
Along with the true human people as they wake, having slept through the tedious hours of night. And this phenomenon iterates itself, it plays out each night as if in a time loop, until the first man walks onto his balcony, looks out into the stars and doesn't walk back into his room again.
And in the white day do the happy people see the stains on the snow? And do they notice, do they react?
Waves will soon run out of energy, and the snow will stop falling. One hour it will fall in its final finale in the winter, and the man who looks on through his window will feel fear for the very list time.

2024.05.14 18:32 areen423 Current Build vs Budget Upgrade Build

Ok so im trying to move onto AM5 and all the beauty that comes with so this is going to be a budget 4k or 2k gaming build. (possible new monitor 27 mini-led 4k 160hz HDR1000) if not (current monitor 27 inch mini-led 1440p @ 165hz HDR1000)

Overall this PC is performing as expected (52nd percentile). This means that out of 100 PCs with exactly the same components, 48 performed better. The overall PC percentile is the average of each of its individual components. single core With an outstanding score, this CPU is the cat's whiskers: It demolishes everyday tasks such as web browsing, office apps and audio/video playback. Additionally this processor can handle typical workstation, and even moderate server workloads. Finally, with a gaming score of 90.8%, this CPU's suitability for 3D gaming is excellent. GRAPHICS: 6800XT games 172% is a record breaking 3D score, it's almost off the scale. This GPU can handle all 3D at very high resolutions and ultra detail levels. Boot Drive71.9% is a good SSD score. This drive enables fast boots, responsive applications and ensures minimum system IO wait times. RAM: 3600mhz 2x16GB32GB is enough RAM to run any version of Windows and it's far more than any current game requires. 32GB will also allow for large file and system caches, virtual machine hosting, software development, video editing and batch multimedia processing.
NEW BUILD (not definite choices just about what im thinking.

NOW
Worth the upgrade and transition to 4K gaming? or keep waiting? If i stay at 1440P i dont see the need to upgrade the whole pc as the 6800XT is a monster in that category but im trying to take the leap into 4k mini-led 120hz+ gaming eventually. Monitors keep dropping in price and from what i saw today GPU's a tad bit also. Thinking of saying goodbye to my AMD friends in the GPU department if i go 4K to help with those 4k shadows and reflections and ray tracing if not i can maybe swap my 6800xt for a 7900xtx with a 240hz 1440p monitor and dominate 1440p gaming and call it a day and that way id only have to buy 1 monitor and 1 GPU and sell the used ones rather than the PC as a whole or piece by piece of a whole PC..
Thoughts, Comments? Suggestions? Substitutions?

2024.05.14 18:17 OkIntroduction9149 Life planning, it's seems great but has some problems..

Hello friends, I hope you're doing well. Today, I need your help regarding a matter I'll explain shortly.
After my 19th birthday, I decided to abandon the habit of wasting my time aimlessly and instead fill it with more meaningful activities. I've been quite successful; a few months after my birthday, I began the unstoppable journey and I quitting smoking, and now, as I talk about it, it's been almost over 5 months.
During these months, I've listened to numerous podcasts, decided to learn web design, read books on self-improvement and discipline, as well as interesting novels. I even decided to learn Spanish, despite living in the Middle East and perhaps having slim chances of visiting that place one day.
But I've done all these things to avoid wasting my time on trivial matters and to be satisfied with myself. And now, as I write this, it's not because I'm tired of doing these things; I just feel like something is missing in my life.
Although maybe I shouldn't feel this way, if Mark Manson were here, he would strongly disagree with me (laughs). When I used to plan my days, my tasks were fixed. Every day, a book, every day, a podcast, coding and taking online courses occasionally. But I was sure that among these days, I would allocate time for myself, because after all, well, I also want to watch a movie, play games, or maybe just stare at the wall for a while.
But when I made this plan for myself, I didn't go to university, and now, the days I go to university, when I come home, I'm completely more tired than I can even relax. And well, with the story I've told you, my life is summarized either in my room or going to university. Even the times when I find some free time during my day, I pick up my phone and scroll through Instagram and Telegram, even when I could use that time to watch a movie or play a game, I waste it.
And yes, I said all this to finally come to the conclusion that what I've lost in my life is a form of recreation that I can't achieve by neglecting my routine tasks. And I don't know what to do. If I stop my daily tasks, I feel trash, and if I indulge in leisure, well, it still feels somewhat like being trash.
I don't have much more to describe my situation. If you have any thoughts and would be so kind as to write them to me, I would greatly appreciate hearing them.
Thank you for your attention ❤️

2024.05.14 17:54 crossy23_ You are using FSR WRONG

I found a subreddit from about 6months ago so I thought I would reshare it here as the there should be a lot more people with SDs.
Essentially, it’s what the title says. To fix this, you gotta do 3 things:
  1. Enable FSR on your steamdeck and set a preferred sharpness (I usually use 3)
  2. Lower the in game resolution to anything bellow the native
  3. DISABLE “Fullscreen” in the graphics tab in your game and set it to “windowed”
Video: https://youtu.be/m7RUFUFYdAU?si=BlD3-AvxnLq2QiUL
TL;DR: most of you probably know this already, but I had no idea I was using FSR wrong (by not using it at all). Coming from a PC, I always learnt that you should run your games in Fullscreen to enable the best performance, so naturally that’s what I did on the deck as well. Turns out it’s a bit different. Also I would assume you’d have to turn off all the in game FSR options for this to work otherwise you may run into blurrier pictures than normal!
Edit: To Enable FSR on your deck hit the “Quick Access Menu” or “…” just bellow the right trackpad. Make sure you are actually in the game you wanna enable FSR for. Go to the “Performance Tab” or the tab that has the battery icon. In the Performance tab, select the Advanced view option to see all the possible features. Then scroll down to “Scaling Filter” and select “FSR”.

2024.05.14 17:41 AEDyssonance The Biome Chart for Wyrlde

TLDR: i posted some things previously about how I was developing out my biomes, and thought I would share the chart that came out of it.
So, here is the revision to the overall biomes I did, as part of the larger project of determine the number and type of larger life forms present and how they all fit into the broader ecology of Wyrlde.
The chart lists the Biomes that are present (revised from even my prior note), and organizes them according to the latitude that they exist in (or how they affect the surrounding biome, in some cases).
It then gives the Biomass for that region (which is "grams of carbon per cubic meter over a year net"), the general temperature range information, the amount of rainfall, and then, because I not only am using the world fro an active game, I also like to roll dice when writing so that I have the sense of randomness for certain things, it also includes a relatively random chance for an encounter with a "Critter" or large lifeform, as well as the chances for the storm. I use a 30 sided die for this, because I like to work in 3's, and the die is decent enough.

Now, I did things this way because as I go through the animals, I am generally seeking to establish a few broad "types" of animal, and then demonstrate a bit of variation according to the latitude of the biome. What that means is that I want to have "foxes" -- so there will be a version of a fox that exists in most of the biomes, adapted to the particular biome (so I have a larger speciation profile).
That will carry over in a lot of ways, across trophic levels and throughout the foodwebs, which are also being created as a whole. For the food webs, i am going to use a variation on the larger model, with a 20 part web and 5, 7, or 9 trophic levels.
For those wondering what the hell those are, well, a foodweb is "the circle of life" -- what eats what, in a cycle. The parts are based in that, and I will have 20 creatures in each foodweb and at least three foodwebs in most biomes. The trophic level is the stuff that gives us Predators and prey, and where they sit within a foodweb -- the apex predator concept comes from that. Also, I am not an ecologist, so if an ecologist corrects me, they are probably right, but I am doing this for world and this is how it works there.
Since my world is a fantasy style one, I also have magical creatures and assorted horrible stuff out there, and this is going to help me to determine when and how they appear, as well, so that I have a stronger sense of how the ecology of the planet works, even with the disruptive influence of these problem critters.
I know it’s boring, but I just feel really good about, so thought I would share.

2024.05.14 17:34 Doccit Are Paratroopers Crazy OP? Yes.

So the special forces doctrine "combat interdiction" makes them very nice for breaking tiles, but even without combat interdiction they are so so so powerful because of their mobility.
They are straight up the best division for exploiting momentary gaps in lines! I use 10w paratroopers with support artillery. When I look like I am about to win a battle, I drop paratroopers to the tiles that the enemy divisions could retreat to. Sometimes, I get an overrun, and even when there is no overrun it is easy for the paratrooper to win against an already chewed up division.
And while I'm dropping into the tiles that enemy divisions are retreating into, I paradrop everything I've got to hog as many tiles as possible behind enemy lines. You can get huge encirclements in this way - these things move way faster than motorized divisions while simultaneously being way cheaper to produce.
You might worry: what if in trying to drop a huge cloud of paratroopers behind enemy lines, some of them land in tiles that are occupied? Then I've lost several whole divisions! Well no - as long as you have also paradropped into any adjacent tiles that is uncontested, it will just retreat into the adjacent tile instead of dying. And even if they do die, they are so cheap to produce!
You might worry that then you've got some enemy divisions scattered between your paratroopers that will ruin the whole operation - that might be true if you are dropping 2w paratroopers, but 10w with support artillery can hold their own against scattered encircled enemy units. At least they can slow the enemy down for long enough that your normal divisions will filter in.
You might think: paratroopers are balanced by the fact that you have to win the air war to use them. Yeah well not really because you have to win the air war to win anyway. I would never try to advance in red air, so the fact that this tactic only works in green air is no cost at all.
I played a game as Poland recently, with the Sanation Left path. I refused to give up Danzig and the Nazis invaded Using just paratroopers, fighters, and infantry, I was able to get some small single-tile breakthroughs that (thanks to the strategies outlined above) basically snowballed into me rolling up the entire Baltic coast in about a year, and encircling huge amounts of divisions. Germany had such a hard time with me that France didn't even fall!
Then, with the whole Baltic coast rolled up and Germany low on divisions, I paradropped onto their victory points in the south and they capitulated! Easy peasy!
Anyway - if you don't mind the micro, paratroopers are tactically powerful, cheap, and so much fun.

Getting started on Reddit is hard. We know it is; We've been there and gone through these same frustrations. Please believe us when we say IT'S NOT PERSONAL. Please don't:
Please refrain from asking questions about "how to do stuff on Reddit".
You need Post Karma, so the ideal opportunity to start is by asking any questions about Redditing in your own new, dedicated Post in this Subreddit (only one post per 72 hours please, but make as many comments or questions in that post as you need). 2024.05.14 16:22 lykwydchykyn WTT/WTS: A Pedal-licious Pile of Hoopy Homestyle! Drives, Filters, Amps, and Fuzz, plug'em in and feel the love.

Spring is winding down, summer's on it's way; would love to get a little cash to fund the summer fun (and the next parts order). Still, trades are always on the table. Don't be shy with the cheapies.
TLDR
I got:
I want:
DIY STUFF
(If you are NOT into handmade stuff, scroll down because I have some other items at the end.)
This is hand-built stuff that I made, mostly relatively unique or heavily tweaked designs built on vero or point to point. Many are housed in upcycled tins, a few in Hammond boxes. They all run on standard 9v pedal power. These aren't clones for the most part, unless they are; but normally I actually monkey about with the circuits quite a bit or just test out wacky ideas. If you want something nobody else has, you're in the right place…
I have the handmades valued in 4 tiers:
MOBILE USERS: There are 4 columns in the tables below: Name, Tier, Links, and Notes. If you don't see all 4, scroll over or ask for more info.
Fuzzes
Name Tier Links Notes
Bazz Me Fuss You #1 A PIC DEMO A bazz-fussified perversion of the Escobedo push-me-pull-you, featuring controls for octave and volume. This is the first unit I've built using my own custom PCB. Housed in a painted 125B with top jacks.
Space Fuzz B+ PIC DEMO This is a Hollis crash sync fuzz that I souped up with an LFO to modulate the filtesync frequency. Really wild flangery/phasey type gated fuzz sound. At the right settings you can get some octave-down effects as well. Housed in a ~3.5 inch square game tin reinforced with recycled plastic. Pretty pleased with this build.
SwirlFuzz B+ PIC DEMO Modulated octave fuzz prototype. It's an octave fuzz, but you can switch on an LFO to modulate the octave amount. Controls for Rate, Depth, Gain, and Volume, plus switches for waveshape and mode (Normal/Octave/Modulated). In a circular tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
Baller Fuzz B PIC DEMO Another Bazz-Me-Fuss-You build with an added BMP-style tone control. In a slightly beaten-up heart-shaped basketball tin. Y'all ready for this?
Big Green Fuzz for Attractive Bass Players B PIC Demo Like my bazz-me-fuss-you circuit, but with a big muff tone stack, a clean blend, and optional clippers for more compression. Housed in a big round tin reinforced with recycled plastic and designed specifically for attractive bass players. Unattractive ones may not really gel with this.
Creature from the planet Chyowngg B PIC Demo Prototype of a unique fuzz I've been developing that I call the Chyowngg fuzz. It's a 2-stage octaver that gives a bright synthy tone with a distinctive envelope (hence the name). You can toggle each stage from octave to non-octave mode for a variety of interesting timbres. Also has a tone control, but the tone control is before the octave stages so it results in interesting behaviors depending on the switch settings. It's in a tin meant to be painted like an alien, though some say it looks more like a triceratops.
Dumbo's Bazzrite Fussrite C PIC Demo A bazz-fussified mosrite fuzzrite circuit I cobbled together in point-to-point wiring style. Housed in a little Dumbo puzzle tin with GLITTER! Controls are for balance (kind of tone-cum-gain) and volume.
Wiff Spwinkles on Top C PIC Demo This point-to-point fuzz lives in the same neighborhood as the Harmonic Percolator, but has a few differences. I altered the way the gain knob works, and added a switch to toggle bass cut. It's housed in an ice-creamity welly tin.
Drives, Distortions, and Boosts
Name Tier Links Notes
Bronze Drive A PIC Demo This is a point-to-point, transistor based overdrive I designed based loosely on the Davisson Easy Drive. Good for low-gain crunchy tones and plenty of output volume on tap if you want it for a boost. Tone circuit is like a BMP stack but with a mid hump instead of a mid cut. Housed in a painted 125B.
Copper ZenerMorph Drive B PIC Demo This is an experiment in zener diode clipping. Nice crispy drive that gets beefier as you turn up the gain, lots of good edge-of-breakup tones to be had. Housed in a decorated tin reinforced with some recycled plastic.
Shining Hope Drive B PIC Demo Differential mirroring drive, gives a kind of overdriven-mixer-channel distortion. Controls for gain, tone, and volume. Housed in a star-shaped Christmas tin.
B is for Beast C PIC DEMO This fun little drive/boost consists of two cascading MOSFET gain stages with optional clipping in between. It goes from clean and loud to massive wall-of-gain distortion nicely. Controls for gain, clipping, and volume. In a small heart-shaped tin about 4in by 4in.
Green Sparkler Boost D PIC Just an Escobedo Duende JFET boost built point-to-point in a sparkly little round tin. Gives a little gain and a bit of warmth to the tone.
Non-Dirt
Name Tier Links Notes
Quack like a penguin B+ PIC DEMO Third build of the Chykka Wakka, a WIP all-transistor envelope filter. This one is built on vero, and features controls for Q, Range, and Attack, as well as toggles for Voicing and envelope smoothing. Housed in a smallish penguin tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
Gift of Chykka Wakka B PIC DEMO First build of an all-transistor envelope filter I designed. Built point-to-point style and housed in a little giftbox tin reinforced with recycled plastic. Controls for Q and Sweep, switch toggles envelope smoothing.
Vortex of Funk B PIC DEMO Second build of the Chykka-Wakka circuit, this one features attack, Q, and range controls. Built point-to-point and housed in a painted tin.
BZZZ BOOP BEEP B PIC DEMO A basic square wave oscillator on a momentary switch. Can go from bzzz to boop to beep with a sweep of the big knob. Also has tone and volume controls, and a 3-way switch for different decay amounts. Use it to simulate a spring door stopper or dying cow. Or bleep your foul-mouthed frontman. Or mess with the sound guy. Or send Morse code to the bar. I dunno. Housed in a painted tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
Little Amps
Name Price/Trades Links Description
Ample iMank $65 PICS DEMO This is a Runoffgroove Ruby Amplifier built into this old multimedia speaker enclosure designed to look like an old iMac. Glows blue when you turn it on. It runs from a standard 9v pedal power. It's not terribly loud, nor terribly clean, but if you dig the classic mac vibe it might be fun. Controls for gain and volume, and a power switch on the back.
Nosy Amp $75 PICS DEMO Another solid-state amp based on the Ruby amplifier, housed in a repurposed bookshelf speaker. This one actually has pretty decent volume, even on 9V (can run on 12V as well for more), and can stay clean while getting loud enough for a quiet jam with friends.
Fleur-de-Lis Amp $90 PICS DEMO A tiny bookshelf speaker turned into a practice amp. This one features a class D power amp for lovely cleans, and a custom designed discrete preamp that gets punchy & crunchy when cranked. Runs on 9V but pretty loud nonetheless.
Non-DIY Stuff
Make an offer. I respect Reverb Price Guide values, though I may lean high if it's a feeler.
Brand Name Condition Notes
Danelectro Fab Chorus Excellent Cheap plastic chorus, but sounds great. Probably just a make-weight, too cheap to trade on its own.
Caline 10-band EQ Good Works fine, I just don't really need 10 bands of EQ. Has velcro on the back, and sometimes makes a weird noise when you turn on the pedalboard. Another make-weight.
Ibanez PH7 Good Tonelok phaser. Great pedal, has some glue on the bottom I couldn't get off, but works fine.
BOSS TU-12H Good Crusty vintage tuner from Boss. Still works great, but it's missing the outer case (still has the inner part). If you had one in the day and want to relive the magic, feel free to make an offer.
Digitech RP360 Very Good Great multifx, I've gotten some fun sounds out of it, but it isn't seeing much use. I'm just more of a discrete FX guy I guess.
MOTU MIDI express Good This is an antique MIDI patchbay and interface. It's pre-USB and uses the parallel cable (PC) or some kind of Apple-specific DIN cable (Mac). Could be used standalone, or maybe you're into retro MIDI setups? Comes with box and cables anyway.
unknown builder PedalPCB Cataclysm Very Good This is a really solid build of a PedalPCB cataclysm (Disaster Transport Jr clone) built by someone other than me. Pics here. Not sure what to value it, but make an offer.
Local (Nashville TN area) ONLY
Brand Name Condition Notes
TEAC A3340S 4-Track Reel-to-Reel Good Cleaned up, oiled up, and in good working order last time I tried it out. Meant to do some analog recording, but just haven't gotten the time or space. Would trade for a decent instrument of some kind. Might even throw in a copy of Craig Anderton's "Home Recording for Musicians", which uses the same unit.
Altec-Lansing Power amp (9442A) Fair 300 W, 2 rack-unit power amp, can work in stereo or bridged mode. Last time I used it one of the channels was a little flaky. Couldn't be bothered to fix it myself. Heavy as all get out, I'll sell for cheap if you're local.
What would I trade for??
I'm wide open to trades for music gear of all kinds and other items of value.
Some Priority Wants:
Other things I'd likely trade for:
Probably not wants (doesn't apply to C or D-tier builds, offer anything for those):
A Note about mods/repairs/custom jobs: Feel free to shoot me your ideas, but probably I'm leaning toward not doing these. Expect to pay/trade way more for something custom than what I ask for the pedals I've already built.

2024.05.14 16:22 TheBlaringBlue Ranking the Shire Arcs in AC: Valhalla

I wrote mini reviews of each arc here, but because there are so damn many arcs, this ended up being a wall of text, despite me trying to keep them short. Feel free to skim or read only what interests you!
--
The episodic nature of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla means that its narrative is split into chunks. These chunks take place across the many shires of medieval England and vary in terms of length, depth and, well, pointlessness. I thought ranking them would be a fun exercise — a competition of story arcs, all vying for best Viking mini-narrative.
It goes without saying, but I’m about to spoil the whole damn game, so read at your own risk.
--
21. Wincestre
Wincestre is just another Lunden or Jorvik, accept with more Jesus, more King Aelfred and way less… anything worthwhile. This one was just a total nothing-burger of an experience. The fact that it comes so late in the narrative really hurts it, too, because by now you’ve experienced arcs that are a similar traditional Assassin’s Creed city-style that at least aren’t this bad. Aelfred’s turning on Eivor at the end also didn’t feel coherent, convincing or warranted to me. Big miss.
20. Lunden
The smaller, denser cities with multiple targets to track down and ‘social stealth’ options are certainly here to attempt to replicate the traditional AC experience, but Lunden fails to do so meaningfully, and even gets a huge points deduction for being misleading.
The arc is set up to feature twists with Stowe and Ercke (is one a traitor? Will your romancing of Stowe make things complicated?), but after their initial scenes they’re mitigated to what I would hardly even call side characters as Eivor unveils three randos as Order members, kills them and then leaves town. At least there was a cool boss sequence on the river?
19. Snotinghamscire
This arc sees you reunite with Hemmingr Jarl, his son Villi and his compatriot, Trygve. Eivor has an existing relationship with these characters, but the player doesn’t. As a result, nothing that happens with them lands meaningfully.
After Hemmingr passes, this arc boils down to running dull errands to prepare for the burial ceremony. Eivor chooses whether Villi or Trygve will succeed Hemmingr in the end, but the decision is very clear-cut and suggested to the player, lacking the nuance of the game’s other difficult decisions. This arc isn’t memorable, doesn’t concern the main quest, and feels like fluffy filler in the worst way.
18. Jorvik
Another version of the Lunden & Wincestre arcs, Jorvik is stronger than its competitors for presenting the Order members to your face before you deduce who they are. There was nothing shocking about their reveals, but each provided an interesting set piece to navigate during assassinations.
Problematically, the arc sets itself up for Eivor to accuse a traitor, only for her decision to not matter at all. You never get to act on your accusation at Yuletide — the Order member interrupts and attacks the feast no matter who you accuse.
17. Cent
The Cent arc sees Eivor team with Basim to track Fulke. It feels important and part of the main story, but it’s all for naught in the end — you come face-to-face with Fulke in what seems like a meaningful story moment, only for her to run away. Your reward is finding out Sigurd had his arm cut off.
This arc earns some points for getting Fulke screen time and tiptoeing the tightrope of Eivor and Basim’s rocky relationship believably, but certainly can’t be called good. This is because once you pull back the veil, you realize you never advanced the plot and were running in circles for nothing the entire time. At least the other “filler” arcs were forthright about their (lack of) connection to the main story.
16. Jotunheim
This arc has a compelling story to it — Odin running from his fate and bending over backwards to flee from it is interesting, his broken relationship with Loki should be a strong point for the arc, and his moral gray areas (sleeping with a Jotunn, betraying Tyr) certainly make for a complex character’s development.
It has the ingredients of a strong arc, but I just couldn’t shake the why am I doing this feeling I had the entire time. Everything in between Odin’s big moments is a fetch quest and I just felt like I was wasting my life.
This one is weird because on paper it feels like there’s a lot of substance here, but ultimately, I felt nothing while playing it besides contempt for having drank the potion in Ravensthorpe again.
15. Lincolnscire
Heir to the throne Hunwald is exiled from Lincoln and reaches out to Ravensthorpe for help. Eivor tracks down his sickly and dying father and then must cast the deciding vote for whom the new Ealdorman will be after his death.
The game wastes your time with one of Hunwald’s competitors, Aelfgar, (who is a dork) and paints the bishop as evil pretty clearly (he turns out to be an Order member). I suppose this arc could hit hard for someone who accidently put an Order member in charge. For that and for Hunwald at least having a strong drive and personality, this arc earns some marks.
14. Essex
Eivor is brought in to repair a marriage by separating husband and wife naturally without a public divorce. She reunites Ealdorman Birstan with his former lover and sets up a fake public kidnapping to whisk away his wife, Estrid.
I think many would rate this arc far lower than I have here because it is pure side mission nonsense — but for me, this arc stands strong on the backs of convincing and fun characters in Birstan and Estrid, as well as the tangled web of relationships between the two of them, Birstan’s son, and Rollo, Estrid’s former lover.
13. Ledecestrescire
Ledecestre sees the intros of Ivarr, Ubba and Ceowulf. You team up with the sons of Ragnar to help put Ceowulf’s father on the throne in Mercia.
Ledecestrescire earns points for strong, realized characters in the Ragnarsons and Ceowulf, a believable conflict with the Mercian king, as well as the arc’s biggest moment with killing or sparing Leofrith in Tamworth.
12. Asgard
Asgard looks pretty and hits hard when you first arrive. I appreciate Ubi for creating places like Atlantis and Asgard to run around and explore in.
Unfortunately, both felt supremely empty. However, watching Odin fight tooth and nail to run from his fate was satisfying and Loki is aptly deceptive and frustrating. The Builder gave the arc a nice wrinkle, too and climaxed with a nice boss fight.
I spent too much time tracking down tears, but I think if you look at just the main missions here, this is a solid experience in an incredible environment.
11. East Anglia
In this arc, Eivor works alongside Oswald to fend off violent Dane aggressors and claim his leadership role.
Oswald is honorable and likeable — watching him teach the Danes in his court that bravery can reveal itself in more nuanced ways rather than physically was powerful, and giving Eivor the decision to allow Oswald to fight his own battles or fight for him solidified the feeling of fathering Oswald through this arc into manhood and leadership.
I bought into this arc because I felt the story was touching and meaningful and the cast was strong.
10. Vinland
Nothing really happens here aside from hunting down Gorm Kjotveson, but the arc earns major points for how refreshing it is.
I played it late in the story when I was feeling quite a bit of fatigue towards the game and everything about Vinland just landed for me, giving me new energy to actually enjoy what I was doing.
The new landscape is insanely gorgeous and fun to navigate. The stripping down of Eivor’s equipment essentially forces you to start from scratch — but it really makes the four stealth encounters stronger; you have to approach them differently due to being unarmed and unarmored.
The whole thing was a little bit of a reset button for the entire experience of Valhalla and it sorely needed it.
9. Suthsexe
Suthsexe is the meeting with Guthrum and the rising action leading up to defeating Fulke.
The arc is fun, feels impactful as well as meaningful and sees you reunite with all the old friends you’ve made up to this point. Fighting alongside Soma and others was a big positive for me. Storming Fulke’s fort at least included some different mechanics than many forts up to this point, so it felt fresh. Her boss fight in the darkness of the crypts was exceptional, as was her confession sequence.
This arc was mostly good, satisfying fun the whole way through, but didn’t include too much intrigue as the ones ranked above it did.
8. Rygjafylke
Look, I’ll be honest. I’m writing this particular paragraph after completing the game and this opening section was so long ago that I don’t have a great memory of it.
What I do know is that Valhalla opened strongly. I found it all pretty compelling. I remember it being atmospheric, believable and driven by strong characters like Sigurd, Varin, Haytham, Basim and Kyotve. I was bought-in very early and Rygjafylke really got the game off to a strong start.
7. Hamtunscire & Epilogue
Aelfred screen time is a good thing, and this arc earns marks for his badassery in the face of Guthrum, as well as his manipulation of the Dane army. Ally deaths in the battle at Chepeham give the arc meaningful stakes and ratchet up the tension. This arc is brief and straightforward — there’s not much story to it since it’s really just war throughout the whole thing.
Afterwards, Eivor tracks down the final member of the Order and confronts him in a touching sequence over some burnt bread in a small swampy town in the middle of nowhere. It’s a humble conclusion for Aelfred and the swirling epic that was AC: Valhalla.
6. Hordafylke
The return to Norway contains two things: Eivor & Sigurd finding closure with Sigurd’s father, and the two locating “Yggdrasil.”
I quite enjoyed the pit stop with Sigurd’s father, and the entire Yggdrasil sequence was incredibly interesting. It was a refreshing change of pace from what you’ve been doing for the past 100 hours and featured a nice boss fight at the end. No matter which ending you get, the conversation with Sigurd after the dust settles is impactful and weighty.
5. Oxenefordscire
Finally reunited with Sigurd, this is the arc we learn of his obsession with his ancestry and true nature. Eivor’s reaction of discomfort and distrust towards Sigurd’s change is honest and relatable and she must juggle relations between Sigurd and the Thane they are working to put in charge, Gaedric.
Negotiations with King Aelfred are complex and a late intervention from Fulke reveals her true allegiance to the Order and puts Sigurd in enemy hands.
This arc moves the plot along moreso than the last 400 hours you’ve been playing the game, while also establishing and reinterpreting Eivor’s relations with the cast in meaningful ways. It ratchets up the tension of the main quest and narrative, which up to this point had been lagging behind due to a breadth of shire arcs.
4. Glowecestrecire
I’m so surprised to see myself rank this so high — after the first third of the arc, I was considering putting it in dead last. I felt Gunnar’s fiancé’s unintelligible dialogue, the trick-or-treating, the druid encounter, and Eivor’s 400th drunken night of debauchery to be a disrespectful waste of my time this deep (over 80 hours) into the game.
But then the arc turned, with two solid stealth encounters and a stellar boss fight. Navigating the Aelfwood was a gorgeous thrill and the confrontation with Modran is atmospheric and a fantastically fresh take on the typical Valhalla boss or mini boss fight.
When I decided to focus-up on the story and let the Celtic and Welsh mythos shine, the arc became a terrestrial fever dream of satisfying magic, intrigue and character interactions.
3. Grantebridgescire
Eivor looks to ally with Soma, the leader of Grantebridge, but her town’s just been sacked from the inside by a traitor. After saving her three companions in the thick river bogs, you take back Grantebridge and then embark on an investigation to discover the rat.
Its the investigation that makes the whole arc. It has a slew of clues, nuance and red herrings to consider. One of its strengths is how open ended the investigation is — you can follow the quest markers, but talking to the town’s people and hunting down the yellow-painted ship is up to you (at least I think, I played on the most ‘difficult’ exploration setting).
This arc earns big points because the investigation matters — you have to tell Soma to kill one of her closest friends and then watch her do it, living with your right or wrong decision.
2. Eurvicscire
Finally meeting the third of the famed Ragnarson’s, Eivor finds Halfdan a paranoid soul, waxing poetic about friendship and treason. The arc balances the two on a blade’s edge to tremendous effect.
Halfdan believes he has a traitor in his midst and the main culprit is his right-hand man, Faravid.
Faravid's dialogue is expertly written to feign allegiance to Halfdan, but never reveal too much of his true nature. Eivor’s wavering relationship and trust with him are complex and the Wolf-Kissed can lie to both him and Halfdan depending on dialogue choice. Every decision feels like it carries weight. It’s this ambiguity that makes the arc compelling and gives the decisions importance.
This arc could feel disconnected (it’s not part of the main plot and Halfdan doesn’t appear in the late game, no matter your decision) and thus appear as pointless fluff, but I won’t fault it for that. As a self-contained story, this was flat-out interesting and kept me in anticipation of the next reveal or twist. Imagery and foreshadowing, red-herrings, and great atmosphere all make for an engaging and compelling experience. I only wish every shire arc could’ve reached these heights.
1. Sciropscire
Sciropescire’s strengths come somewhat from the arcs that came before it, as it sees Eivor quickly reunited and working with Ivarr and Ceowulf. Your preexisting relationship with both gives this arc an advantage over others where it doesn’t have to establish too much all at once, as well as it starting off with you already having a personal connection of some sort with the main cast. Still, each set piece here is strong enough on its own –
  1. Eivor & co. join to negotiate peace with King Rhodri. She can offer 600 silver to whomever she chooses to try and quell the peace talks. Each option is mired in obscurity, has obvious pros and cons, and plenty of uncertainty. It felt impactful, difficult and nuanced.
  2. After peace talks go sour with Ivarr’s outburst, Eivor, Ivarr and Ceowulf sack a village under Rhodri’s control. It’s brutal and takes a long time to burn (on purpose!). You then fight a huge party of Rhodri’s men. The whole scene feels vile, over the top and harsh (on purpose!).
  3. The twist is that Ivarr kills Ceowulf in cold blood to earn himself the opportunity to get his own revenge on Rhodri — only revealed after you sack Rhodri’s fort (after reaching peace with him). A brutal blood eagle from Ivarr and the game’s best boss fight ensue.
It’s close between the top 3, but this is the best arc in the game, for me.
For once, the game forces you to face the trail of bloodshed and destruction your ‘pacifying’ of England has left in your wake. Additionally, the ambiguous decision-making process in negotiating peace, the brutal village burning sequence, the tangled web of Ivarr’s relationships and motivations, the twists of the peaceful alliance and Rhodri’s fate, and finally, the Ivarr boss fight are just too good all in tandem to not take first place.
--
I’m conflicted looking back on these.
There’s many that feel even more empty than I remember them being now that I draft them as text. However, a surprising number of highly-rated arcs aren’t actually part of the main quest.
Ultimately, I’m left bewildered at the scale and scope of the epic that this game took me on. I was so fatigued by the end of it, but in hindsight so happy I completed it.

2024.05.14 16:19 fredop014 girls are repulsed by security and stability in a relationship, they prefer to chase/pursue, true o false?

I grew up getting mixed advice on relationships, and my personal experience has shown me that the truth can vary depending on the woman, her attachment style, past experiences, and childhood.
I’ll try to keep this short.
I always heard that as a man, you shouldn’t be all over a woman, constantly telling her how much you love her and showing her love and attention all the time. The idea was that this could turn her off because women naturally need to look up to a man to be attracted to him. The moment they feel 100% secure that you like them and have no eyes for anyone else, they might involuntarily lose interest.
On the other hand, I was also told that in a relationship, you shouldn’t hold back or play games and manipulate to spark attraction. If you can’t stay true to yourself, there’s no point in playing that game.
I’m still young (mid-twenties), but based on my past relationships, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. What do I mean by this?
You definitely don’t have to be a "nice guy." You should speak your mind without a filter, disagree with her, and express your opinion, especially when it doesn’t match hers. You shouldn’t be afraid to offend her or speak your mind on something she might not like. By doing this, every time you show her love, appreciation, and security, she knows it's genuine and not just a tactic to please her and get something in return.
It's very important to shower her with love and affection if that's how you genuinely feel. You shouldn’t refrain or limit yourself out of fear that she will get turned off. However, it’s true that some girls, actually most girls in today’s society, might get turned off by that. This doesn’t mean you did something wrong; it simply means she is probably emotionally broken, perhaps due to past relationships or childhood trauma.
To conclude:
Don’t be a spineless "nice guy" just because you want her to like you. Boldly speak your mind and voice your opinion, even if it goes against hers. Don’t refrain from showing her all the love, affection, and security you want to show her. If showing her love, affection, and security turns her off, it’s not about you. She might be emotionally broken, and the relationship wasn’t going to work in the first place.
I would love to hear the experienced opinions of older men/women in this subbreddit, I'm just in my midtwenties and this is what I've learned so far based of my experience

2024.05.14 15:45 EvilKage360 Just some Mod Suggestions I'd like to throw out there for ASA Modders to use if they wish

Please Feel Free to add your own Ideas, and Modders Feel Free to use them if you're looking for Suggestions, if you do end up using an idea thank you
Named Split Tracks - Basically you can name each direction of the Split Track, and the name will pop up on the Directional Arrow UI so it gives the Train Conductor information on which way they want to go
Quests and Rewards - This Mod would give players Challenges they'd have to complete and once they do they get rewarded with an Item or a Random Fertilized Egg, there would be tiers of Challenges the higher challenges being more difficult but the reward being better
Scorched Earth Oviraptor Spawn - Basically adds to Oviraptor to Scorched Earth, I feel like it was an oversight by Wildcard not to Add them, their Ability to pick up Eggs Automatically makes them like Dung Beetles Essential Tames that should be on every Map
Scorched Earth Gigantoraptor Spawn - Like the Oviraptor it adds the Gigantoraptor to Scorched Earth, now that it's Base Game it should work
Multiple Oasisaurs - Basically Removes the Restrictions on 1 Oasisaur per Tribe Limit
Better Araneo - So I've always Felt the Araneo was Useless, so I'm going to Suggest the Following, Give it the Ability to Climb Walls and Ceilings, Make it's a web attack act like a Net Gun, Make it a little bigger, much faster, and more potent tranquilizing Venom to it's Bite
Better Scorpion - Like the Araneo I'd like to See the Recieve a buff to it's Tranquilizing Venom, and make it Atleast Climb up Wall
More Structure Skins - So the Bob's Tall Tales Structure Skins I think are great and the way they're set-up is more reliable than the Custom Cosmetics System IMO, I'd love to see Skins using that system for different styles of Architecture, like Viking, Greek, Japanese, Medieval, Modern, Futuristic, etc. the list can go on and on for ever

2024.05.14 15:45 Ysundere M34WQ F06 Firmware Upgrade Guide

Mainly writing this for future reference as I am finally able to upgrade my monitor's firmware from F03 to F06 using the steps below.
Requirements:
  1. OSD Sidekick - https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Utility/OSD_Sidekick211104.zip
  2. The latest firmware. Version F06 as of this writing: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Firmware/GIGABYTE_M34WQ_F06.zip
  3. Use a HDMI connection from PC to monitor. DO NOT USE DISPLAYPORT.
  4. USB Type-B MUST be connected from PC to monitor.
  5. No other USB devices connected to monitor except for no. 4 above.
  6. No other USB devices connected to PC except for mouse and KB. Use simple/generic KB and mouse and avoid gaming/exotic ones if possible.
  7. UPS, if power is intermittent in your area.
Steps:
  1. Extract the 2 zip archives.
  2. Install OSD Sidekick - there will be 2 executables on the OSD Sidekick zip file. Run the one with the larger filesize as admin and install.
  3. Settings > Apps > Installed Apps. Sort list by Date Installed. Uninstall all apps installed from no. 2 EXCEPT for these two: OSDSideKick and Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable ( → uninstall Genesys Logic Generic USB Class Filter Driver, VLBillboardTest and Windows Driver Package - libusb-win32 (libusb0))
If the steps continued below somehow restarted at 1, its a reddit thing.
  1. Uninstallation will prompt you to restart. Restart PC.
  2. DO NOT RUN OSD Sidekick yet upon restart.
  3. Move contents of C:\Program Files (x86)\Gigabyte\OSDSidekick to C:\OSDSidekick
  4. Move the firmware *.bin file somewhere also in c:\ such that the complete path is short and does not have space, i.e. C:\GIGABYTE_M34WQ_F06\GIGABYTE_M34WQ_F06.bin
  5. For every *.exe file under C:\OSDSidekick and all its subdirectories, right-click > Properties > Compatibility tab > ☑ Run this program as administrator.
  6. Sound > Output device > Select anything EXCEPT HDMI output
  7. Control Panel > Power Options > Select "High Performance" power plan. Firmware write somehow bugs out midway if this is not done, at least for my system. I have sleep/screensaver off on the balanced profile.
  8. Right-click > Run as admin: C:\OSDSidekick\OSD_Sidekick.exe
  9. At the ABOUT tab, it should tell the actual model of your monitor ex: M34WQ, not some garbled text like 8?r?8?r etc. If the model name is garbled and you don't see a KVM+ tab, you need to uninstall some drivers installed along OSDSidekick (go back step #3).
  10. OSDSidekick app > About > Monitor Firmware > Browse and select the F06 bin file
  11. Press Update
  12. Wait until done. Mine took just short of 12mins. Monitor will restart itself.
  13. Rerun OSD Sidekick if it closed itself (I believe it does). New firmware version should reflect on the ABOUT tab.

DEBUG:
  1. OSDSidekick keeps crashing → reinstall OSDSidekick, move install dir to a short path with no spaces, run as admin. Run "High performance" power plan. Disconnect all USB devices from monitor and PC except generic mouse and KB.
  2. OSDSidekick app says "App already running" but no app window → restart PC
  3. FW update failed prompt and OSDSidekick not responding → restart PC. I couldn't end task tree from either cmd or task manager even as admin.
  4. No display shows after a failed FW write → Disconnect everything from the monitor including power cable for 1 min. Power on again → should revert display and old FW.

2024.05.14 15:28 fatlard_buttlick Overseas Fan (Germany) looking to engage with Local Canucks Radio

Apologies if this isn't the subreddit for this question, but I wasn't really sure where else to go at this point.
Since Sept. 2022 I have been living in Germany. Since my move my consumption of Canucks content has been mainly provided by Sportsnet 650, listening live through their Web Player. However, I am unable to text into the text-line (650650) because of the type of phone line it is.
I am wondering if anyone knows of a work around for this? I reached out directly to the station a few months ago (didn't hear back) and posted on about a year ago without luck.
I know I can tweet at the station/hosts, or call-in to the post-game show, but it just isn't the same as texting directly into the text line that all of our favorite hosts are using!
Any input or response would be greatly appreciated. Again, I am sorry if this question is not appropriate for this sub, but with this exciting run happening I want to engage with the content I am consuming!

2024.05.14 15:17 WalkerSpectre YouTube slowing down extremely because of adblocker

After the recent YouTube anti-ad block measure, three videos until you disable ad blockers, I switched off the extension (I use Microsoft edge and chrome) for the site. After a while I reenabled adblocker because I got frustrated when i got the same ads over and over again, sometimes being longer than the video itself. As y'all know, it basically speeds up the ad and the auto clicks the 'skip ad' button. I recently changed wifi companies, so i thought that slowing down was a consequence of that, but i noticed it was ONLY YOUTUBE slowing down immensely. When i clicked on something it'd take (not even exaggerating) 30 seconds for the site to respond. If i typed something, while working perfectly on the web browser, it'd take up to a minute to update what i wrote on youtube. After testing and testing, i remembered that lots of people were complaining about youtube being evil and doing bad things on purpose bc of adblockers, so i tried turning the adblocker off.
INSTANTLY, youtube became significantly faster. None of the issues mentioned above kept happening. As soon as i turn the adblocker on again, the page reloads by itself and we're back to having the equivalent of having 900ms ping in a videogame.
Im not a revolutionary or anything, but listen y'all: youtube has billions of users worldwide. A few weeks ago, people got sony to drop an update for a game just by boycotting the platform. We could do that so easily. The revenue they make bc of us watching is immense, if we stopped using youtube for a week, they'd definitely do what we want.
This is not right, a few years ago we'd get one skippable ad and that'd be it, now you get over 3 skippable ads in a row, not to mention the minute long unskippable ads. This has to change. Since youtube has no competitors, the only thing we can do is boycott them.
