2024.05.14 12:20 dojo_sensei Free Tech Tools and Resources - Azure/365 Doc Links, Diagram Editor, Printer Scanning & More
Just sharing a few free tools, resources etc. that might make your tech life a little easier. I have no known association with any of these unless stated otherwise.
But first, in the latest
Security Swarm Podcast: "
A Breakdown of CSRB’s Findings on Microsoft Storm-0558 Breach (PART 2),” is a continuation from last week’s episode where we discussed the CSRB’s findings on Microsoft’s Storm-0558 Breach. This week, we continue picking apart the findings and providing insights.
We're looking for your favorite tips and tools we can share with the community... those that help you do your job better and more easily. Please share your suggestions on the
IT Pro Tuesday subreddit, and we'll be featuring them in the coming weeks.
Now on to this week's list!
A Free Tool Centro 365 is a browser extension that makes it easier to find the info you need on Microsoft Azure and 365. Dintid explains, "My work consists 95% working in the 365 suite—in all of the sections. And being a small IT staff in a non-profit, it’s hard to keep up with the weekly changes MS are doing to naming and placement of stuff. Leads to my useful tool on a daily basis, an extension for my browser, which basically is just a drop down with the different sections and subsections. Clicking it and you go to the right url for it."
Another Free Tool Mermaid is an online flowchart and diagrams editor that was designed to keep tech documentation current. TheRaido explains, "For documentation with diagrams, I tend to use Mermaid, which can be used in Markdown in VS Code and is also supported by Obsidian.md."
A Tip A favorite Windows command for jonathanjohnson0724:
- for /l %i in (1,1,254)
- do ping -n 1 - w 10 192.168.0.%i
- Followed by arp -a
will list the IP and MAC addresses of almost everything in the local subnet (192.168.0.[1-254]), including most things that don’t respond to ping. Not as fancy as Angry IP Scanner, but it’s on every Windows system; so quick and easy to use. Yet Another Free Tool WizTree helps you quickly find the files and folders using the most disk space on your hard drive. Rather than searching the drive and checking each file to determine size, WizTree gets its information straight from the NTFS Master File Table—which means it happens almost instantaneously. evilkasper finds it does the same thing as WinDirStat, but much faster.
One More Free Tool Page Countster is a small, portable application for reporting on network printers. Provides a super fast, easy way to access info and interact with all the connected printers. tkecherson says, "For printers, I prefer an old freeware utility, Page Countster. Automatically picks up just the printers and a host of other info about them in an incredibly lightweight utility."

2024.05.14 12:19 bestboopnow Magic-focused MC
I'm craving the itch for MAGIC
Too many MCs are gettin' in there with their fists and stuff, nah, that ain't it. Gimme some goddayumn spell-slinging mofo that stands at the back and uses weird obscure ways of using the magic or uses a ritual to break the world or smth, I don't care I just need magic it's been too long since I've read some.
Here's what I've read: (feel free to use as recommendations) (I listen to audiobooks for everything)
- Mother of Learning
- Beneath the Dragoneye Moons
- The Completionist Chronicles
- a guilty pleasure, I love Dakota Krout but he's better at being funny than writing compelling narratives
- Mageling
- I gotta finish it, seemed pretty good
- Mage Errant
- I really liked it, I love schools in stories
- Secrets and Spellcraft
- Still in the middle of it, pretty slow but also good
- Paranoid Mage
- I love the ideas presented, he just gets caught up in explanation too much, book 2 a little better at that and haven't read past it, I dearly intend to eventually, it's certainly not a book series you can binge but one you have to let it last for a while
- Dear Spellbook
- It doesn't feel like it gives much reason to keep reading on, I love time loops however so it was enjoyable
- Fate's Anvil
- I'm not sure why I got book 2, I never read it
- Legend of the Arch Magus
- I really enjoyed it, can't wait for more, although I don't think it's very good it's more like a guilty pleasure
- Somnia Online
- I was on a VRMMO itch when I found this, adored it, bit slow
- Chronicle Series
- Honestly I've read this series probably twice and I genuinely cannot remember a thing from it, I genuinely do not know if it should even go it this list or what it's about, the blurbs don't help either
- Rise of the Mystic Mage
- Excuse me but when did book 2 come out I loved book one, I just bought it and it's already my next read, although I am still looking
- Never Die Twice
- I loved The Perfect Run sososo much I keep trying to like this book but it's always like at a bad time I get into it, I'll finish and love it one day
- Saga Online
- I remember really enjoying it but also found it a bit of a slog at times. It had amazing and memorable moments but a lot of what felt like filler
- The Unwanteds
- Nothing to do with LitRPG I found this bc of my mum, I love the magic so much but books get to be more of a slog with each one, book one was amazing, stuck in book 4
- Magic 2.0
- Honestly this might have played a small role in why I became a programmer (specifically a game designer), I love the coding is magic in this and it was like my first listen on audible, going back to it to finish it a few years later was hard because it's a bit of a slog but I love it nonetheless
- Awaken Online
- Guilty pleasure of mine, been following the story for years and years, my friend says it's not that good and he's a media studies nerd so I trust his judgement on that, I enjoy it a lot
- Wolfman Warlock
- Same universe as completionist chronicles from a different author, loved it just as much, see its entry near the top
- New Era Online
- I keep seeing people liking this book but it's just so much talk from about how this and that works and general thoughts, it should be naturally included into the dialogue or the worldbuilding I get bored and zone out for important bits, let me know if it's really worth it
I'm feel bad for saying negative things so I couldn't, they are all pretty good at least, if in different areas, I've listened to bad stuff, none of these are awful
This does not include semi-magic-wielding MCs, pure magic, or at least pure-magic focused. Not including things like MCs that mainly sling magic guns and not a wide variety of magic tools. Not including dungeon core.
I have about 200~ titles in my library, don't think that just because this list is long I listen to mostly magic stuff, I don't, although I wish I did

2024.05.14 12:08 Luca_000 Cross-Platform Reselling Tool (Best approach)
I am selling products online here in Europe. I usually list them on ebay, but would also like to add more smaller marketplaces as well for reach (like
kleinanzeigen.de for Germany,
willhaben.at for Austria, or
subito.it for Italy). I would like to have a tool that automatically reposts my listings to these platforms without me having to do all of that manually.
There is some tool that does it, but not for the European marketplaces I need. It is called
vendoo.co .
Now I wanted to ask for some ideas on how to reach a MVP the fastest. Would you go for coding and API integrations? Or web automation? Or something completely different?
Thanks guys for your ideas!
(If needed, I can give much better explanation of possible/desired features)

2024.05.14 11:42 tall1678 Codes P0826 P0725
| I recently bought a 2009 altima coupe 2.5 cvt with 98,000 miles. This is my first car. it seems to run great, but on a whim I checked it on the OBD2 scanner and it gives me these two codes: P0826 - Up and Down Shift Switch Circuit - microcuts P0725 - Engine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction - microcuts I should also note, the guy i bought it from performed all routine maintenance, changed transmission fluid, oil, etc... no previous collisions, he kept a record of every single thing. I briefly drove through a flash flood recently? could it be that? There is some info about these codes online, but mostly different circumstances. I figured maybe one of you has had this exact combination of codes. I should also mention there is no check engine light, and nothing feels wrong. Here is a picture of the beautiful (and radiant) 2009 altima coupe, to hopefully provoke sympathy and compassion. thanks for reading. wow, just wow. submitted by tall1678 to altima [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 11:33 jhitterbug22 Training / orientation
I can’t be the only one who got next to 0 information at orientation/training? For context I’ve been here almost a month working fulfillment and there are soooo many things that were not explained to me. For example, basically any and all target terminology. I have figured out what most of these mean on my own, but im talking about like WACO, TM, TL, ETL, FOS, OPU, DPCI, none of these were explained to me yet I was expected to know what all of them meant when I started working. Asking for help on the walkie on my first day and being told to meet in FOS but not knowing what that meant, being told to check the DPCIs but not knowing what that meant, etc. No training on how to use the zebras, I still don’t know how to help guests find items on my Zebra when they ask about stock. Not being explained where locations in the store are, like 99B or 02A etc. Never even received a tour of the store lol. Had to ask about dress code and other policies. Was never told how to enter the building so I was using the main entrance for my first week. I know I don’t qualify for benefits yet (right?) but still wish they would have explained sick time and PTO. Im sure there’s plenty of other stuff im forgetting. Some of this was probably in the training material they gave me online but tbh most of those said they were supposed to be gone over with a trainer and that never happened. During my orientation they had a presentation that was supposed to play but it wouldn’t load so she just skipped it. Im not too worried about it as im sure I’ll figure everything out with time i just think it’s kind of odd and unprofessional. Had 1 and a half days of training total. Hmm

2024.05.14 11:21 DeenieJ1357 Laptops mousepad broke while it was still under manufacture warrenty, they were unable to fix the issue, i need help with product replacement or refund.
Middle of last year I Started studying the community services Course online Shortly after i got a lenovo Idea pad 5i, so about a bit over a month ago i took it into the shop to send to the manufacturer for repairs. Bu i have experianced miner issies from the start, so first after only a week or two of using my new laptop the mousepad started getting stuck under the laptops edge, also very early keys were getting stuck and if the laptop went flat it was a struggle to turn it on, after all this I was still so grateful to have such a good laptop.Only time I took it in for repairs was once the mouse pad had broke and it was unusable at the time. I asked my dad to check up on it after it's been in there for a few weeks and he calls me back very soon after he was telling me that they thought they fixed it. The people in my store that I bought it off tested it and it still dident work. The manufacturer after everything has only offered me for Credit at the store or through the company and only for what i had initially paid. normally this would not be a problem But I had done immense Research and comparisons also i had waited until the time of the year when. Sales were on and I'd be able to look at nicer versions at a more affordable price. I managed to find a bargain and got the laptop six hundred dollars cheaper than it's original full price. But because the manufacturer are only willing to credit the money I actually paid I won't be able to get the same laptop and because It Has been just shy of a year since it was purchased any extra savings I did have went to other bills and things I need to pay. Is there any laws, regulations, amendments subsections or even codes?Anything they have to follow or anything? That gives me an option to get another laptop of the same exact same brand and make. .I don't Want more money I don't need an upgraded laptop. I just want what I had before. Because I know fault to my own was not up to standard.
Sorry i know its long but i could really use any advice because im really heartbroken and a little anxious, It took me so long to learn to use that laptop I agree to like it and build an attachment to it.And I really don't like changing anything if it doesn't need to be one hundred percent required change, im 25(f) (nsw)

*Using Moving Key HOME copies PkBank data. As I have Dex completed you will register all of them even if I transfer only 1 Pokémon. That works to get Original Color Magearna (Just Gen 8-9 Pokémon left) Also Forms and Shiny will be registered too. (No Shiny Locked Pokémon entries anymore, I fixed that)
- All SWSH/BDSP Items less Key ones. 0,3€ each (Johto/Dream/Beast/Sport/Safari Balls are 0,25€ each). Scarlet-Violet ones are 0,2€ each or 0,25€ each (Special Balls)
- Training - Pokémon (SPA-ENG) services for Scarlet and Violet.
-Custom OT/Lang Playthrough (6€ Base/DLC1, 10€ Base + DLC1, 12€ Base + DLC2 Paradox, 15€ Base + both DLCs). If you want all Legends from the game (DLCs included) price would be 25€ in total (28€ with Pecharunt*) *I will use 2 different saves because completing Pokedex would be easier in a CFW switch for Ursaluna BM/Paradox but I cannot use Online so the Mythical Pecha Berry and Pecharunt have to be caught in another Switch
-Miraidon/Koraidon 5€ (Custom OT Playthrough). Training service included. Treasures of Ruin are 1€ each, 2,5€ if both specific IVs and Ball.
-Ogerpon, Okidogi, Fezandipiti, Munkidori and BM Ursaluna. 4€ each (15€ in total if you want them all)
-Terapagos, Iron Crown/ Iron Boulder or Raging Bolt/Gouging Fire. 5€ each (12€ in total if you want them all from 1 specific version)
-5IVs, -SpAtk, 6IVs, 5IVs 0Atk, 5IVs 0Spe SPA/JP Dittos. 1-4€ each
-Training: Level, Nature (Mint), IVs (Bottle Caps), EVs, TM/EM Moves, and Tera Type change. 0,5€ each

Maybe data analysis is your jam, or keeping networks running smoothly gets you going? The right course is out there, but it all starts with understanding your interests and career aspirations.
- Research Different Specialisations:
Research Different Specialisations:
IT is a giant toolbox with many specialised tools inside.
Here are a few of the most popular ones:

Python, or C++ and get your hands dirty creating applications and software systems.

- Consider Industry Demand:
Industry Demand
Don't just follow your heart, follow the job market too! Research what IT skills are in high demand right now. By selecting a course packed with skills companies crave, you'll stand out from the crowd and snag your dream job in no time.
- Evaluate Course Content and Curriculum:
Content and Curriculam
After creating a shortlist of courses aligned with your IT aspirations, dive deeper to assess their curriculum. The strongest program will provide a thorough exploration of the subject, not just a surface-level introduction. Hands-on experience is vital in IT, so prioritise courses with opportunities to apply your knowledge through practical exercises. Real-world projects or internships are like gold – they'll give you practical experience and make you a much stronger candidate in the eyes of potential employers. Beyond the course content, consider practicalities like duration – how much time can you realistically dedicate to your studies? Think about the learning format – classroom setting for structure or online for flexibility? Finally, some employers value accreditation from a reputable institution, so factor that in as well. By meticulously evaluating these elements, you'll be well-equipped to select the ideal IT course that launches you toward your desired career path.
- Seek Feedback and Recommendations:
Feedback and Recommendations
After shortlisting a few IT courses, don't stop there! Connect with IT professionals or graduates of those programs to get the inside scoop. Their real-world experiences can provide valuable insights you won't find in a brochure. Talk to them about the quality of the course, how relevant the curriculum is to actual IT jobs, and what the overall learning experience was like. This firsthand information can be invaluable for making the best choice for your IT education.
- Consider Certification and Credentials:
Certification and Credentials
Many IT courses offer certification upon completion, which can enhance your credentials and credibility in the job market. Research industry-recognized certifications relevant to your chosen field and consider courses that provide preparation for these exams. Holding certifications demonstrates your expertise and commitment to continuous learning, making you a more attractive candidate to employers.
- Evaluate Cost and Return on Investment (ROI):
ROI
Powering up your IT skills with courses is a great career move, but treat it like an investment. Before you enrol, do some budgeting. Factor in the tuition costs, any hidden extras like textbooks or software, and see if there's financial aid or scholarships to ease the financial blow. It's also smart to research the average salary in your chosen IT field. This will help you estimate the Return on Investment (ROI) and figure out how long it might take to see your education pay off financially.
- Stay Updated on Industry Trends:
The IT world is like a fast-moving river, with new tech and trends constantly popping up. Even after you choose a course and land your IT job, keep learning! Stay on top of industry developments, hot new advancements, and any emerging technologies relevant to your specialisation. There are tons of resources available, from ongoing learning programs to online courses. Keep feeding your IT knowledge to stay ahead of the curve and future-proof your career.
Best IT institute in Gurgaon
Ultimately, choosing the right IT degree is a crucial initial stride toward forging a rewarding career in computing. By carefully assessing your ambitions, exploring diverse specialisations, considering industry needs, reviewing course content, seeking advice, pondering certification, evaluating expenses, and staying attuned to industry shifts, you can make an informed decision tailored to your aspirations. Definition of Marketing
American Marketing Association defines marketing as activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.
Source What do you see here?
- Marketing is not about activities, it contains activities, set of institutions and process.
- Function of marketing is not generating sales. It’s creating, communicating, delivering and exchanging offerings that has value.
- In this post we’ll focus on Shopify stores marketing. However in the big picture marketing has not limited with companies. Marketing can be done within organization or society.
Let’s summarize what marketing definition for a Shopify store.
Marketing will create, communicate, deliver and exchange offers that have value for customers. As you can see main subject in here is
customers. Because of this, I’ll put
customers as the center of this guide. Everything we’ll do has to something with them.
Market Research, Competitor Analysis and Defining Your Target Market
This is a practical guide for marketing so I want to continue with a hypothetical Shopify stores for each steps.
Let’s say we have a Shopify store that has some high-end, organic baby clothes targeting new parents.
Market Research
How can we do the market research?
Let’s say you have a new Shopify store that has less than 500 order per month. You can hire expensive agencies, expensive experts to research the market, create market reports for you, etc. Even if you do that, I highly suspicious if it helps you.
However you can talk with your new-parent friends. Ask them about how do they decide to buy baby clothes? What they are looking for before completing their purchases? Do they get any expert opinion before making buying decision? How do they search online and what they want to see? Is there any
great YouTube channels about this.
Don’t have any friends? Checkout your friends not a new-parents but parents and ask similar questions to them. If you also don’t have them, try to make new born friends. I know how hard it is but let’s be honest here. If you don’t know anybody in your target audience, how do you manage to get know them? All of the successful stores I saw they have direct relationship with their target audience.
When you make your research with real people, then you can extend your project to online. Try to search as they do. What do you find? Deep in dive and take your notes.
Competitor Analysis
When you done this market research, you’ll also see there are some other brands. This is a huge subject but let’s call these brands as
competitor for now.
Now it’s time to analyze them.
- Checkout their branding strategy.
- What are their value propositions?
- What is hot about them? Return guarantee, free shipping etc.
- What is not hot about them? Poor product or store design, low UX on the website, etc.
- What people think about them? Google reviews, Trust pilot reviews, product reviews on the store.
- Are there any partnership or influencer program they’re running?
- What is their Google/YouTube campaign strategy? Check it here.
- What is their Facebook/Instagram campaign strategy? Check it here.
Create a spreadsheet with all of this information. We’ll use this when working on positioning and marketing strategy.
Define Your Target Market
What do you say about our target market? Can all of new parents be our target market?
Nope, it can’t. You need to deep dive into your market and find a sub-segment, a niche that will need your products much better than anybody else and afford it easily.
This is what I called ideal customer profile (ICP). Check out
what is ideal customer profile and
how to create your ideal customer profile posts to learn more about the concept.
For our hypothetical store, ICP can be something like this;
Demographics - Age: 25-45 years old
- Gender: Primarily women, but also some men
- Education: College degree or higher
- Income: $75,000+ per household
- Location: Urban areas
- Occupation: Professionals, entrepreneurs, stay-at-home parents
Psychographics - Values: Health, wellness, sustainability, social responsibility
- Lifestyle: Active, eco-conscious, family-oriented
- Interests: Organic food, natural products, children’s activities
- Media consumption: Social media, parenting blogs, magazines
- Shopping habits: Researches purchases thoroughly, values quality over price
Pain Points - Concerns about harmful chemicals in baby clothes
- Difficulty finding stylish and affordable organic baby clothes
- Wants to make sustainable choices for their children
Needs - High-quality, organic baby clothes that are safe and healthy for their children
- Unique and stylish designs that make their children look and feel good
- A brand that shares their values and commitment to sustainability
Buying Behaviors - Researches products online before making a purchase
- Reads reviews and testimonials from other parents
- Shops at specialty stores and online retailers
- Willing to pay a premium for quality and sustainability
After creating ICP, it’s important to spend some time on
empathy map. Don’t forget to check it, too.
Now we know our baby clothes Shopify store market, customer’s buying process and our ideal customer profile.
Brand Identity and How to Create Your Branding
I’ll follow the American Marketing Association (AMA) in here too.
First look at brand definition. AMA
defines brand as “any distinctive feature like a name, term, design, or symbol that identifies goods or services”.
Branding is for creating and managing your brand’s identity. It involves your mission, values, culture and public image.
I’m not an expert on brand, but I know how branding can be effective for your conversions and performance. Here are some checklist for you.
- Design consistency is the key. Your visual identity should be consistent across social media, Shopify store, emails, product detail pages, etc.
- Copy consistency is the key. Your communication style should be consistent across social media, Shopify store, emails, product detail pages, etc.
- Experience consistency is the key. Let’s say your brand looks like a high-end brand and when a new visitor visit your store first they see is an annoying popup saying want to get 10% OFF. This is simply how to destroy your brand.
- Craft a story and stick to it. What makes you create this brand? Faces behind the brand. This is a huge leverage for creating trust and building bonds.
Go-to-Market Strategy and Defining Your Marketing Strategy
So far we identified our target market and ideal customer profile. Check out competitors and creates the
branding for our store.
Now it’s time to work on go-to-market strategy and crafting our marketing strategy.
Go-to-Market Strategy
Let’s say you recently launched your Shopify store or add a new line of products.
You need a plan to introduce your store or new products to the market. This is what we called go-to-market(GTM) strategy.
Main goal of the GTM is letting people know that there is a new brand or product line. It’s similar to
launch marketing. Key message here is there is a new products/brand launched and it offer the best for you. Give it a try, you’ll love it.
All of your messages and communication should be parallel to this process.
Our focus is convincing people to try our products/brand. So I always offer a special campaign just for the launch to give people to a reason to try your products/brand.
For our hypothetical Shopify store we can run a special campaign for launch like;
- Free shipping until X date.
- 5 different boy and girl bundle with 40% OFF to try our products.
Marketing Strategy
This is your plan of actions to sell or advertise your products. Now we can talk about selling part of the marketing.
Let’s say you have GREAT advertising creatives and a huge budget and just spending it. Don’t wait to crack the code and having lot’s of sales.
Your marketing strategy should be follow sales funnel. If you don’t have a high-converting sales funnel, you can’t expect people to buy from you. Check out
How to Build High Converting Sales Funnel For Shopify post.
AIDA Sales Funnel Framework
Now we can continue with our hypothetical store example. We’re selling high-end, organic baby clothes on our store. We crafted our ICP, empathy map, work on branding and created our story.
Example Marketing Strategy
First step we’ll work on attention step. Our focus is getting attention of our target market attention.
We can create a educative e-book like “7 Harmful Chemicals Commonly Used in Baby Clothes and How to Avoid Them” and run some campaigns targeted new parents on social network (Facebook, Instagram or YouTube)
This ads will land on a landing page that gives brief information about why we should pay attention to chemicals in baby clothes for our little ones and make a promise like “I spend my last 5 years about researching chemicals on baby clothes and prepare this book for you and your little one”. Also there can be a quick video about our story explaining our expertise in this field and why we’re building this brand.
We can ask for their email address to share the book with them. When they enter their email address, we’ll send them this ebook.
After first email with the ebook, we can send a few more emails with easy to digest information about chemicals.
This will create an expertise image on our target customers and start to create a bond with them. Not a bad start, right?
At the same time we can use this content on our social media, right? Quick videos, infographics and posts about the chemicals in the baby clothes.
After getting a few thousands subscribers we can organize a webinar to answer questions. This will also a great content for re-used social media content and creating trust and expert image.
Then we can share a time-limited promotion with this people for a bundle. Like we’re running a campaign and these 5 chemical free baby clothes bundles 10% discounted until next week!
We can send emails about it and use this campaign for remarketing for only people who show interest in our e-book and webinar.
This is a very brief template of marketing plan.
Now let’s take a look at more common one.
- Post product photos on social media with lot’s of hashtags
- Run a Meta campaign without any targeting, land people on product detail page
- Give them WELCOME10 discount if they enter their email address
- Send them 15 emails in the next 5 days to maximize your sales.
It’s time for you. Which one do you want to choose? All of the
experts recommending this without even asking who are your customers. Can you believe it?
Don’t forget that marketing strategy is not a hope. It’s a well documented plan of actions
designed for turning strangers into customers.
Inbound and Outbound Marketing Channels
Inside the marketing strategy, channels plays a vital role. There are lot’s of ways to group channels. I’ll use most basic one.
Inbound Marketing Channels: With the inbound marketing your customers will find you and start the interaction. Most common channel for inbound marketing is organic search engine optimization.
After creating high quality content, when customers search something online, they can see your articles and first interaction happens.
Outbound Marketing Channels: With the outbound marketing you reach out to customers. Facebook/Instagram/YouTube ads, influencer marketing, display ads, podcast ads can be count in this category.
As you can imagine inbound marketing channels takes lot’s of efforts and time however over the time you’ll have organic marketing channel and it brings you customer without needing any budget.
Outbound marketing channels generally works with advertisement models and you need budgets to run these channels.
Most of time I recommend to start with outbound marketing channels and then invest inbound marketing channels overtime. Don’t forget to check
Mastering Paid Ads For Shopify post.
Succesful marketing plans should be supported by high converting growth and conversion plans. Don’t forget to check
Growth Guide For Shopify and
Conversion Optimization Guide For Shopify too.
to grow quickly and none of them not working. Well, if you looking for a way to create solid marketing plan, then this guide is for you. In this guide you’ll learn

2024.05.14 10:34 ExternalFollowing I watched all 22 demos of OpenAI’s new GPT-4o. Here are the key takeaways we all should know.
GPT-4o was announced a few hours ago by OpenAI, and although the
announcement livestream is great, the real gold nuggets are in the 22 demo videos they posted on their channel.
I watched all of them, and here are the key takeaways and use cases we all should know. 👍🏻
A. The Ultimate Learning Partner
What is it? Give GPT-4o a view of the math problem you’re working on, or the objects you want to learn the language translation of, and it can teach you like no other tool can.
Why should you care? Imagine when you can hook up GPT-4o to something like the Meta Rayban glasses: then you can always have it teach you about whatever you are looking at. That can be a math problem, an object you want translated, a painting you want the history of, or a product that you want get the reviews of online. This single feature alone has incredibly many use-cases!
🔗 Video 7, Video 8
B. The Perfect Teams Meeting Assistant
What is it? Having an AI assistant during Teams meetings, whom you can talk to the same way you talk to your colleagues.
Why should you care? Their demo didn’t expound on the possibilities yet, but some of them can be…
- having the AI summarise the minutes and next steps from the meeting
- having the AI look up info in your company data and documentation pages (e.g. “what’s the sales from this month last year?”)
- having the AI work on data analysis problems with you (e.g. “create a chart showing sales over the past 5 years and report on trends”)
🔗 Video 5
C. Prepare for Interviews like Never Before
What is it? Have GPT-4o act like the company you’re interviewing for.
Why should you care? What’s changed is that the AI can now “see” you. So instead of just giving feedback on what you say, it can also give feedback on how you say it. Layer this on top of an AI avatar and maybe you can simulate the interview itself in the future?
🔗 Video 11
D. Your Personal Language Translator, wherever you go
What is it? Ask ChatGPT to translate between languages, and then speak normally.
Why should you care? Because of how conversational GPT-4o has become, the AI now helps not just with translating the words, but also the intonation of what you’re intending to say. Now pair this with GPT-enabled earphones in a few years, and you pretty much can understand any language (AirPods x ChatGPT, anyone?)
🔗 Video 3
E. Share Screen with your AI Coding Assistant
What is it? Share screen with your AI partner, and have them guide you through your work.
Why should you care? Now this is definitely something that will happen pretty soon. Being able to “share screen” to your AI assistant can help not just with coding, but even with other non-programmer tasks such as work in excel, powerpoint, etc.
🔗 Video 20
F. A future where AIs interact with each other
What is it? Two GPT-4o’s interacting with each other, that sounds indistinguishable from two people talking. (They even sang a song together!)
Why should you care? Well there’s a couple of use cases:
- can you imagine AI influencers talking to each other live on Tiktok? Layer this conversation with AI avatars and this will be a step beyond the artificial influencers you have today (e.g. the next level of lilmiquela maybe?)
- can this be how “walled” AIs can work together in the future? example: Meta’s AI would only have access to facebook’s data, while Google’s AI would only have access to google’s - will the two AIs be able interact in a similar fashion to the demo, albeit behind-the-scenes?
🔗 Video 2
G. AI Caretaking?
What is it? Asking GPT-4o to "train” your pets
Why should you care? Given GPT-4o’s access to vision, can you now have AI personal trainers for your pets? Imagine being able to have it connect to a smart dog-treat dispenser, and have the AI use that to teach your dog new tricks!
🔗 Video 12
H. Brainstorm with two GPTs
What is it? The demo shows how you can talk to two GPT-4o’s at once
Why should you care? The demo video is centered around harmonizing singing for some reason, but I think the real use case is being able to brainstorm with two specific AI personalities at once:
- one’s a Devil’s Advocate, the other’s the Angel’s advocate?
- one provides the Pros (the Optimist), the other gives the Cons (the Pessimist)?
- maybe Disney can even give a future experience where you can talk to Joy and Sadness from the movie Inside Out? - that would be interesting!
🔗 Video 10
I. Accessibility for the Blind
What is it? Have GPT-4o look at your surroundings and describe it for you
Why should you care? Imagine sending it the visual feed from something like the Meta Rayban glasses, and your AI assistant can literally describe what you’re seeing, and help you navigate your surroundings like never before (e.g. “is what I’m holding a jar of peanut butter, or a jar of vegemite?”). This will definitely be a game-changer for how the visually impaired lives their daily lives.
🔗 Video 13
If this has been in any way useful, I hope you can check out RoboNuggets where I originally shared this and other AI-related practical knowledge! (The links to the video demos are also there). My goal is not "AI daily news", as there's already too many of those, but instead share useful knowledge for everyone to take full advantage of the new AI normal. Cheers! 🥚

| https://preview.redd.it/5rggnvj9rc0d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=99f979ea23c4ee1130aa6f5567008a11fd4e1d10 How To Protect Your SEO Progress During a Website Redesign I. Introduction Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a critical aspect of any successful online business or website. It helps to increase visibility, drive organic traffic, and improve overall online presence. However, when it comes to a website redesign, there is a risk of losing hard-earned SEO progress if the process is not handled properly. A website redesign can involve changing the structure, content, and technical components, which can negatively impact your search engine rankings and organic traffic if not managed carefully. To protect your SEO progress during a website redesign, it's essential to follow a strategic approach that involves preparation, implementation, and monitoring. This article will guide you through the key steps to ensure that your website maintains its search engine visibility and continues to attract valuable organic traffic after the redesign. Preparation A. Conduct a thorough SEO audit Before embarking on a website redesign, it's crucial to understand the current SEO performance of your existing website. Conducting a comprehensive SEO audit will help you identify the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement. Here are some key steps to take: - Analyze your website's performance: Use tools like Google Search Console and Semrush to analyze your website's performance metrics, such as rankings, organic traffic, and keyword visibility.
- Identify high-performing content: Determine which pages, blog posts, or other content assets are driving the most organic traffic and generating the highest rankings. These will be your priority to preserve and optimize during the redesign.
- Assess backlink profile: Evaluate the quality and quantity of backlinks pointing to your website. Backlinks are a crucial factor in search engine rankings, and it's essential to maintain or improve your backlink profile during the redesign.
- Analyze technical SEO aspects: Assess your website's technical SEO components, such as site speed, mobile-friendliness, structured data implementation, and crawlability. Identify areas that need improvement to enhance the overall user experience and search engine visibility.
B. Plan your redesign with SEO in mind Once you have a clear understanding of your website's current SEO performance, it's time to plan your redesign strategy with SEO as a top priority. Here are some key steps to take: - Define your SEO goals: Determine what you want to achieve with the website redesign in terms of SEO. This could include improving rankings for specific keywords, increasing organic traffic, or enhancing the user experience to boost engagement and conversions.
- Identify areas for improvement: Based on the SEO audit, pinpoint the areas that need improvement, such as site architecture, content optimization, mobile responsiveness, or technical SEO factors.
- Develop a clear strategy: Create a detailed plan outlining how you will maintain and enhance your SEO performance during and after the redesign. This should include strategies for content migration, URL structure optimization, redirects, and other critical SEO elements.
C. Back up your website Before proceeding with the redesign, it's essential to create a complete backup of your existing website. This backup should include all website data, content, images, databases, and any other relevant files. Having a backup will serve as a safety net in case any issues arise during the redesign process, allowing you to revert to the previous version if necessary. Backing up your website is a crucial step that should not be overlooked. It provides peace of mind and ensures that your valuable data and content are secure throughout the redesign process. Implementation A. Work on a staging environment When implementing the website redesign, it's recommended to work on a staging environment or a development server separate from your live website. This approach allows you to test and troubleshoot any potential issues without affecting your live website's performance or user experience. Working on a staging environment provides several benefits: - Testing and debugging: You can thoroughly test the redesigned website, including its functionality, design, and SEO elements, without impacting your live site.
- Collaboration and feedback: If you're working with a team or agency, the staging environment allows for collaboration and feedback before pushing the changes live.
- Minimize downtime and disruptions: By testing and resolving issues on the staging site, you can minimize downtime and disruptions for your live website's visitors during the redesign process.
Once you're satisfied with the redesigned website on the staging environment and have addressed any potential SEO concerns, you can proceed with launching it on your live domain. B. Match the structures of the old and new websites One of the most critical aspects of protecting your SEO progress during a website redesign is maintaining the existing URL structure as much as possible. Changing URLs can lead to broken links, lost link equity, and potential ranking declines if not handled correctly. To mitigate these risks, try to match the URL structure of your new website with the old one. If any URL changes are unavoidable, implement proper 301 redirects to ensure that search engines and users are seamlessly redirected to the new URLs. Implementing 301 redirects is crucial for preserving your existing link equity and preventing any potential ranking drops due to broken links or lost pages. Search engines will recognize the redirects and transfer the authority from the old URLs to the new ones. C. Optimize your content for target keywords During the redesign process, it's essential to ensure that your content remains optimized for your target keywords. Search engines rely heavily on content relevance and quality when determining rankings, and neglecting content optimization can negatively impact your SEO performance. Here are some key steps to take: - Keyword research: Conduct thorough keyword research to identify the most relevant and valuable keywords for your business or website.
- Content optimization: Optimize your content for the target keywords by incorporating them naturally into your title tags, meta descriptions, headings, and body copy.
- Structure and organization: Ensure that your content is well-structured and organized, using clear headings and subheadings to improve readability and semantic relevance.
- Quality and value: Focus on creating high-quality, valuable content that provides real value to your target audience. Search engines prioritize content that meets user needs and delivers a positive user experience.
By optimizing your content for the right keywords and maintaining high-quality standards, you can ensure that your redesigned website continues to rank well and attract relevant organic traffic. D. Improve website speed and mobile-friendliness In today's digital landscape, website speed and mobile-friendliness are crucial factors that impact both user experience and search engine rankings. During a website redesign, it's an excellent opportunity to address these aspects and optimize your site for better performance. - Website speed optimization: Optimize your website's code, images, and other assets to improve loading speed. Techniques such as minification, compression, and leveraging browser caching can significantly enhance website performance.
- Mobile-friendly design: Ensure that your redesigned website is fully responsive and optimized for mobile devices. With the increasing number of users accessing the internet via mobile devices, having a mobile-friendly website is essential for providing a seamless user experience and maintaining search engine visibility.
By improving website speed and mobile-friendliness, you not only enhance the overall user experience but also align with search engine best practices, which can positively impact your rankings and organic traffic. E. Submit your new website to search engines Once the redesign is complete and you're satisfied with the new website's performance, it's time to submit it to search engines like Google, Bing, and others. This step helps search engines discover and index your new website more quickly, ensuring that your pages are properly crawled and ranked. Here are some steps to follow: - Submit your sitemap: Create an updated XML sitemap for your new website and submit it to search engines through their respective webmaster tools or search console platforms.
- Request indexing: Use the tools provided by search engines to request indexing or re-indexing of your new website's pages.
- Monitor indexing progress: Keep an eye on your website's indexing progress through the search engine tools and address any issues or errors that may arise.
By proactively submitting your new website to search engines and monitoring the indexing process, you can ensure that your redesigned site is properly indexed and visible to users searching for relevant keywords and content. Monitoring and Maintenance A. Monitor your SEO performance After launching your redesigned website, it's crucial to monitor its SEO performance closely. Regular monitoring will help you identify any potential issues or declines in rankings, traffic, or other key metrics, allowing you to take corrective action promptly. Here are some key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor: - Keyword rankings: Track your rankings for your target keywords using tools like Google Search Console, Semrush, or Ahrefs.
- Organic traffic: Monitor your website's organic traffic levels through tools like Google Analytics to ensure that your redesign hasn't negatively impacted your visibility and user engagement.
- Backlink profile: Keep an eye on your backlink profile to identify any lost or gained backlinks during the redesign process. Backlinks are a crucial ranking factor, and significant changes can impact your SEO performance.

2024.05.14 10:15 AllstarGaming617 DIY water heater replacement. What is this?
| I posted a few hours ago and some knowledgeable members confirmed that in all likelihood my water heater has bit the bullet. As a newer homeowner I like to develop skills to expand my abilities to deal with stuff in my own home and I like learning. Anything dealing with gas/electricity I prefer to outsource to a professional because I absolutely appreciate the time and skill they’ve acquired to do things safely and correctly. I’ll still always evaluate the job and see if it falls within a scope that I feel comfortable handling first though. I think that can be appreciated. Plus, I’m not in a position where saving a grand or more in money wouldn’t help. Based on some instructional videos I do feel like this type of job is something I would be comfortable doing myself. Except for one aspect. In every video I’ve watched, there’s cold water in, hot water out. Some people have expansion tanks, some do not. Whoever installed the current tank soldered pipe to length straight to the tank in/out. Every video I’ve watched cuts the old pipe and replaces with flexible piping. Easy enough. However instead of a straight cold in/hot out 2 pipe scenario, my current heater has some sort of backflow or circulatory piping with some other Honeywell fittings of odd sizes tying it all together. I’ve watched about 20 videos now and I have not seen this piping on any other example and can’t find reference to it online. I read on another post that these Honeywell fittings are shit and shouldn’t be used. IF I were to decide to give this a go myself, could I cut this out of the system and when installing a new heater just do two lines straight to/from the heater(with expansion tank on cold) instead of whatever this is? Lastly, it sounds like expansion tanks aren’t as necessary as they used to be but are still required by some state/local codes. I’m going to put one in as I’m assuming it’s probably code for my town. How crucial are they if they are not required by code? Thanks. submitted by AllstarGaming617 to Plumbing [link] [comments] |

I think Mii Plaza corrupted my SD card! What can I do to save it?
A couple of days ago, I accidentally clicked on one of the dlc games the bunny asks you to pay for. I must have downloaded the DLC months ago without remembering, because it crashed my console. Three times. It also burned black lines into my screen which didn't go away until I opened and closed the 3ds again.
When I turned it on the first time, some of my games were missing, such as Virtual Console Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Bank. I looked into the 3ds Data in settings and they had a blue X over them. I deleted them, but I've never seen that before.
I re-downloaded Pokémon bank and tried to open it, but it told me I needed a NNID to use the service. Which was weird. Because I had one. I went into the friends list. It looked normal. I went into settings into NNID and it asked me to create a new one! I struggled to fix it for days but eventually I found the unlink script in GodMods9 and used it to link back into it in the settings. Before I did that, I kept getting an error code trying to link back into it. Apparently it was a code for another online service that replaces nintendo online. I don't use that service on my 3DS.
So that problem was solved. But then I start going into Pokémon Omega Ruby. "This save data has been corrupted. Refer to your manual." ... What? I thought Mii Plaza wasn't supposed to touch anything? I haven't even heard of anything like this happening besides the DLC being deleted because it checks for illegal downloads.
The same thing happened to Pokémon Ultra Sun, and my Pokémon Black 2, White, Diamond and Gold all lost their save data. My Mario games were fine. Rhythm Thief was fine. Pokémon Virtual Console Red was fine.
I start using a replacement for pass and looking into my pass data---all of it is gone. Even the data before i started using the replacement. When I started putting my carts in, it was making new data for every game and had to create new data for all the pass. My Super Mario 3D Land cart even kept crashing with an error that's apparently for a corrupted hash, but trying again, it worked fine. But I lost the data that was on MK7, Tomodachi Island and others.
I ran my SD card through properties>tools>check and command prompt for chkdsk. Nothing has came up for either of those. The SD card works fine, files can still be moved in and out of it. I looked inside every title folder, nothing seems obviously corrupted in strings of letters.
I don't know what to do. I don't want to lose all of my Mii Plaza Data or the pass data I just got. Is there any way to check within the 3DS if the SD card has something wrong with it? How do I fix my games? it the console itself? I'm not even banned from online, so I don't know. I asked the discord server but they don't help at all, straight up ignored me. I just want to know if my pass data is somehow recoverable.

2024.05.14 10:04 yayforhealthanxiety I think Mii Plaza corrupted my SD card! What can I do to save it?
I'm only posting here because the other sub reddit won't let me no matter what I do.

2024.05.14 09:42 shesparkzz Stuck in life n career ..Should I give GATE at 28?
To give a clue about my background, I graduated in 2017, attempted the ESE in 2018 in EC with coaching, but couldn't make it and failed all exams that year. I became depressed, experiencing low self-esteem and confidence. I lost hope and interest as well.
Afterward, I began giving home tuitions and freelancing, even blogging, but the results weren't as expected, so I had to drop that.
Already desperate to do something, around 2021, with the IT industry booming, I motivated myself to learn coding and aim for placement.
I learned JavaScript, web development, and DSA, although everything was new to me, I managed to learn.
I also joined an online institute with the promise of placement if I passed their exam, but this didn't happen as the startup company probably shut down and disappeared.
Placements suddenly stopped, and by that time, recession hit, shattering all hopes of entering IT with a decent package.
Now, when I apply, they either require a minimum of 2 years of experience, or recent graduates are given priority.
I feel totally clueless as I've hit rock bottom. I can only apply and wait.
Therefore, I'm contemplating giving myself a restart, which is a daring and scary decision for me.
My parents or family won't support this, even if I achieve AIR 1, as marriage pressure is always high.
Every day feels like hell for me, so I'm searching for an escape.
If I had a hint and confidence that getting into an IIT could improve my life, I'd take that bet. However, my lack of experience could create an issue during placements in IITs.
I am thinking of preparing for GATE CSE and simultaneously searching for jobs .
If anyone reading this knows the criteria for placements in IITs or has general experience with placements, I would appreciate their valuable advice.
I probably have one last chance, and it feels like I'm at gunpoint, lol.
PS. Feel free to judge me; I would also judge myself. None of this was planned; it just happened. Sometimes, I wake up and wish it could all be a dream.

2024.05.14 09:25 heyomeatballs My sister is learning that none of it was true
My poor sister. She's my half sister, and she was unfortunately raised by nMom/egg donor. I was raised by my father and learned to spot egg donor's crap early in life. My sister was not as lucky. nMom had a solid 20 years to fully brainwash her and control the narrative and she's only just coming out of it now.
I was forced to move in with nMom, her husband, and their two kids when I was a teenager and my sister and I really bonded. I started "pranking" her by picking up her phone whenever she put it down and changing the language to one we don't speak, then putting it back. nMom thought it was funny until sister successfully used my "prank" as a reason to keep her phone locked, and not share the passcode with anyone as I proved I could watch over their shoulders and get the code that way. I was kicked out shortly after sis started questioning egg donor on some things, I went NC, and the world went back to how nMom wanted it. Sis and I lost touch.
Fast forward to now and sis is also NC with our egg donor and in a very healthy relationship with a nice man who convinced her to go to therapy. We reconnected. And started talking about the lies, specifically the ones nMom told sis and others that are so easily disproved.
nMom lied about her blood type. Who does that? She desperately wants to be or have a special medical case and told my sister she was AB- because she heard somewhere it was the rarest type. Sis and both have health problems, so between the info our doctors got from us and us knowing our own blood types and our fathers' blood types, nMom couldn't have AB- blood, unless she adopted or stole us. Since we both look identical to her and each other, we're pretty confident she just lied to sis. For some fucking reason. (We also called her father to confirm. She's O+)
Sis was told that my father cheated on nMom and that caused their divorce. They split because my father caught her cheating, which resulted in a child. The date (and result) of the paternity test and their divorce pretty clearly states what happened.
nMom tried to spin a story about her not getting custody of me because everyone ganged up on her and she had no choice. I showed Sis how to find court records from my hometown online and she found the dates nMom was in jail for kidnapping me and neglecting the affair baby, who was later taken away by the state and adopted out. The custody case for me ended with nMom voluntarily signing away all rights to me to avoid more jail time.
Apparently nMom also tried to claim that she voluntarily gave up Affair Baby as a teen mom and then got pregnant with me and married my father. I'm a little speechless at this one, but I guess she wanted to paint herself as a tragic victim who did the right thing for her daughters by giving one up and letting my dad take me. The truth is I'm the baby she got pregnant with as a teen, and she and my dad divorced because of Affair Baby, who was born 18 months after me. Affair Baby was removed from her custody due to neglect. I'm not sure how she hoped to keep this lie up.
Sis wasn't even told about Affair Baby until nMom randomly mentioned it to a friend in front of Sis and tried to spin the above story. Sis was 12 at the time and shocked. nMom fed her a ton of lies about the situation. I've put her in contact with the woman Affair Baby grew into via social media (she has a lovely family; we chat once or twice a year) so that's getting worked through.
When sis started dating, nMom's version of a sex talk was to horrify her with tales of nMom being bullied in school because she was pregnant. She persevered and graduated just in time to have me and/or Affair Baby, but it was hard and sis should learn from her mistakes and be smarter. I don't talk to our grandmother, but sis was able to reach out and grandma confirmed nMom dropped out of high school to marry my father and have me.
There's a lot more, but one that was really hard for us both to get through was The Night I Left. nMom told Sis I just left for no reason and they didn't hear from me again for years. Truth is, nMom kicked me out on my birthday because I caught her in a lie and called her out on it. And, as I later found out, she'd heard Sis asking me if she could go with me when I moved out. nMom convinced Sis I just didn't want Sis moving in with me so I'd moved out and ghosted them all. I was homeless for 2 months.
It was a very long, exhausting conversation to have with my sister. In the end she burst into tears and said "Sis... I think my whole life has been a lie."
She's got a hard journey ahead of her, and helping her through it is stirring up some stuff I thought I'd gotten over by now. Thanks for letting me vent.

2024.05.14 09:25 spycerr PEPES Of The Caribbean team shows immense determination.
PEPES Of The Caribbean has now been around for 4 DAYS!
With a huge pump to $20K recently, the inevitable correction occurred and PIRATE now sits at a $5.7K MC.
We have been gradually growing the community after the coin got shilled and fell back down to a $4k MC, with the Dev team making great strides to bring the community together.
Despite having previously being plagued by JEETS and Fudders, the dip in price has removed all bearish signs and left behind an extremely bullish community.
Since the huge pump, we have stayed between $5k-$10k MC, as the Dev team ramps up efforts to really push the project.
The Dev himself is still VERY active and held his entire share during the pump as he knows the true potential.
PEPES Of The Caribbean is still EXTREMELY early, and we, the Devs, are putting all efforts into building a strong project with a respectable and close community.
We do not endorse any forms of toxicity and rely on chill vibes and positive people to form an extremely fun project for all.

2024.05.14 09:08 jhm-grose MarineNet Catalogue Gets a Boost of Proctorless CEUs. Half-pointers now available for study!
Great news for all my Junior Enlisted Warriors. MarineNet has published a bunch of classes now worth
half a CEU for a mere hour of study, and there are a lot of them. While I have not personally curated all the 0.5 CEU classes to see if they are proctorless, I will edit the post once I have the time to run through the catalogue. But right now, I'd say we're looking at a whopping 71 CEUs that don't need a proctor now.

2024.05.14 08:25 trfedwsxfrdfgh How & Where I streams Fury vs Usyka LIVE free BOXING?
How & Where I streams Fury vs Usyka LIVE free BOXING? The Fury is getting on a bit. He's not going to be as mobile as he used to be. Coming in heavy only compounds that. Even a slimmed down Fury is bigger and stronger than Usyk, so why risk gassing out or being unable to catch the smaller man?
🔴Visit🥊► Boxing Streams
🔴Watch🥊► Boxing Live
Does anybody else think that Tyson fury is looking a bit too thin to fight usyk? If you get me. It looks like he's lost ALOT of weight. His weight is his biggest advantage. If he looses more than he usually does, I think he'll struggle against usyk there's no way he'll outbox him. as he won't have much weight for him to lean on usyk and also unpopular opinion, I do think it's fishy. He wasn't in good shape for the feb 17th usyk fight and now he got "cut" it's given him lots more time to train doesn't it seem strange?
I pirate everything: games, movies, software, and even made my own plex server. But lately I have gotten really into Usyk & Fury Boxing and haven't found a great way to watch Boxing for free live.
The Fury vs Usyk live stream sees the undisputed heavyweight championship defend his strap against the popular Californian pugilist. Here's everything you need to know to watch online with and without a PPV. Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will take the ring on Saturday May 18) at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Here are all the ways to stream live free online.
I don't care if there is a small delay or anything, but it needs to be at a good bitrate at 1080p or it isn't worth watch for me. Also preferably I would want a way to watch it on a smart TV in some way but im expecting to sacrifice that luxury honestly.
ESPN, ABC or Boxing Network. I'm sure you can stream as well as way to watch it but I want to see what you guys recommend.
