Was this eBay seller trying to scam me?
I bought 3 brand new general lando calrissians on eBay for $10 each but I only received 1 of the figures. I messaged the seller and he told me he'd get back to me but he ghosted me for 3 days so I contacted eBay. I was able to get a refund for the two missing figures; however, I noticed that the one lando I did receive was not in new condition as described because the box had been opened before because the tape at the bottom of the box was cut prior to me receiving it. Also the head on the figure is not the original photoreal head as seen in the listing picture. The head was clearly swapped out for another inferior head. I only noticed this because I already have the same figure to compare it to. I was going to let this slide because I only wanted to figure for the body as custom fodder and I wasn't going to use the head anyway, but it didn't feel right that the seller didn't give me what I paid for so I messaged him asking for a partial refund and he ended up refunding me in full. I think it's possible that the seller got his hands on a returned item and sold it to me without realizing; mistaking it as brand new. After all, this seller has a positive eBay rating and has hundreds of listings up that are not Star wars/ Black series related. However, the situation with the seller shipping me only one lando when I paid for 3 and the other mistakes has left me questioning his integrity šŸ¤”. What do you guys think?

If you knew your adult child was being abused, you'd help them - wouldn't you...? Especially when you know that child is a DV survivor with PTSD
If you answered "yes" you're better than my parents. I don't know where to go for help anymore. Yesterday was my birthday and, no, I'm hardly in the first flush of youth anymore, but I'm not quite middle aged either. But why should my age matter when I am a human being, I am suffering and I need help...?
Please forgive me if this is muddled, I'm so weak from malnutrition now I can't think straight.
I have sent my parents - more accurately, my mother - several emails documenting the abuse I'm being subjected to in a 'supported' flat in Bristol. She hasn't responded to a single one.
I don't know why I was put here, I was never assessed under ether the Care Act nor the MCA. Most of the abuse is food-related; I have been informed that I am NOT ALLOWED to buy my own food, the only food I have is what staff deign to give me; I'm given one or two (rarely three) 'meals' a day, usually consisting of cheap deli meat dumped on a 20cm (~8") side plate, like this:
Standard plate size
This is what I was given for 'dinner' yesterday evening:
'Dinner' 15/05/2024
That was all I was given yesterday. That's pretty much the standard - open a packet, dump it on a plate. Sometimes they take what they'd put on a small plate and put it on a standard dinner plate spread out, to make it look more (they must think I'm fucking stupid). Sometimes I get cooked stuff, but it usually ends up in the bin because they can't cook; steak, bacon and mince are cremated, pork, chips and chicken almost raw. I have photos of every single 'meal' I've been given in an album on my iPad.
I'm so malnourished now that eating often causes me severe abdominal pain.
I've been here since November last year and I am now suffering from severe malnutrition.
I am now so malnourished I am struggling to breathe.
I am now so malnourished I have chest pain
I am now so malnourished I have abdominal pain (my abdomen is severely swollen and bloated)
I am now so malnourished I have global neuropathy and parasthesia
I am now so malnourished I am incontinent
I am now so malnourished I have poor bowel motility
I am now so malnourished I have severe vertigo (I have this constant feeling Iā€™m going to just literally drop dead)
I am now so malnourished I am losing my sight
I am now so malnourished I struggle to speak
I am now so malnourished I struggle to stand
I am now so malnourished I struggle to remain awake
I am now so malnourished I have severe muscle weakness and pain
I am now so malnourished I am struggling with thermoregulation
I am now so malnourished I have severe brain fog
I am now so malnourished I am losing my hair, toe-and-fingernails
I am now so malnourished I am underweight (I don't know this for certain, of course, but a size 4 is now MASSIVE)
It also appears to have increased the severity of my tinnitus and hyperacusis (pathological hypersensitivity to noise).
They constantly creep around outside the flat front door and the creaking of the floorboards does my head it; it's almost 24/7, they don't stop at night - I constantly think someone's going to barge in.
Even on the nights when theyā€™re not keeping me awake Iā€™m too terrified to sleep in case I donā€™t wake up again.
They claim they ā€œcareā€ about me, but the Care Act only seems to apply when it suits them - it certainly doesnā€™t apply when it comes to food. How can you give anyone ā€˜mealsā€™ like these in good conscienceā€¦?! How is this anything other than nutritional neglectā€¦?!
Due to the Mental Capacity Act, I have no voice, nobody has to listen to me, and nobody is taking this seriously (adult safeguarding in both Bucks and Bristol refuse to believe that Iā€™m being abused and neglected). My advocate wonā€™t treat this as a life-threatening emergency situation and sheā€™s ā€œtaking legal adviceā€ (not heard from her for weeks). I spent a very long time compiling a report in Pages which I converted to a PDF and sent to her, she doesnā€™t even appear to have read it.
There's a 100dB alarm attached to the flat front door:
The door alarm and its sensor
I have removed several of these (they're cheap Chinese tat, you can get a pack of 10 for around Ā£12-Ā£14).
I donā€™t feel safe, there is ZERO respect for my human rights; thereā€™s a lock on the flat door but, if I lock it, they just break in. If I tell them I donā€™t like them doing something (like creeping around outside the flat because the creaking of the floorboards doesnā€™t make me feel safe because I constantly think someoneā€™s about to barge in - or to not give me chips (because theyā€™re always undercooked; or mince, bacon and steak (because itā€™s always cremated)) they just ignore me, thereā€™s no respect for my needs, wishes or feelings AT ALL!
I have been severely assaulted by staff many times; they will barge into the bedroom (often at least 4 or more) and if I attempt to stop them (they start searching the room, I have no idea what theyā€™re looking for).
The other evening, around 20:00, 6 staff burst into the bedroom in full ā€˜riot gearā€™ (face masks, face shields, aprons and gloves), as youā€™d imagine I was TERRIFIED (Iā€™d got my headphones on, so I didnā€™t hear them enter the flat).
Two of them grabbed me; I went into ā€˜auto-defence modeā€™ and tried to get them off me. I was pushed against the wall so violently I bashed my head; one of them grabbed my hair and squashed my face into the wall, with his full weight on the small of my back so I couldnā€™t breathe. The other twisted my arms behind my back, while the other four searched the room, like police on a drugs bust. I have no idea what they were looking for. When the other four had left, the two who were holding me threw me with full force onto the floor and I whacked my head against the bedside table.
This isnā€™t the first time Iā€™ve been assaulted by staff, either (nor the second or the thirdā€¦); I have been dragged into the living room and held on the floor, prone, with one or two of them sitting on my back so Iā€™m unable lift my head.
ā€œWe donā€™t like having to do this, but you bring it on yourself; if you did exactly as you are being told, then weā€™d have no reason to hurt youā€¦ā€
Everything is arranged to protect staff from me - thereā€™s NOTHING to protect ME from staff. What threat am Iā€¦?! Iā€™m severely malnourished and severely underweight. They KNOW I have PTSD (because I have told them many times) - if someone suddenly bursts into whatā€™s supposed to be your home - whatā€™s your reaction going to beā€¦? Especially if youā€™re living with severe trauma.
Basically, they seem to think they can get away with the abuse because they can just claim they were ā€œacting in self-defenceā€ (which is laughable because I am severely weak and about 7 stone (44kg)).
I now feel old - older than I actually am - and I donā€™t think that Iā€™m EVER going to have any semblance of a meaningful existence, I may as well be dead. Iā€™m mainlining Kratom (in a vain attempt to deal with the pain (both physical and mental).
They have taken my phone, and damaged my iPad and MacBook Pro. I donā€™t have any access to medical care because I have been informed by staff that I wouldnā€™t be allowed to see a GP or paramedic in private. Staff gaslight me constantly and, due to the MCA, Iā€™m essentially gagged, NOBODY is listening to me.
Thereā€™s been ZERO consideration given to my physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing, thereā€™s ZERO empathy, everything is out of my control and I have been put in a situation where I am being so severely abused that I fear for my life.
I honestly think that nobody will believe how grave this situation is until Iā€™m brought out of here in a body bag.
At no point was I ever assessed; at no point was I ever asked what help and support I thought I needed (NONE). All this has happened on assumption, on what is known in social psychology as fundamental attribution error (FAE). Fundamental attribution error is a cognitive bias where observers underemphasise situational and environmental factors for someoneā€™s behaviour while overemphasising dispositional or personality factors. I have ended up in a - very literally - life-threatening situation, because the assumptions have been made that I CANNOT look after myself because I donā€™t know how to, rather than I canā€™t because I am suffering from severe trauma.
I need very, VERY, urgent help. Where can I goā€¦? Is there anyone here who can help me access help, because I don't think I'm being listened to due to the MCA/DoLS.
Iā€™ve basically been locked away, stripped of my human rights, abandoned and left to dieā€¦
(This has been cobbled together from stuff I'd already had written in Notes, so I apologise if it doesn't make sense, but my brain isn't working).
Is there anyone here with any knowledge and/or experience of this kind of situation..? Neither my social worker, nor my solicitor will listen to me, they'll only take instruction from the Court of Protection (the ironically named CoP, I don't feel protected, quite the opposite).
I don't mind DMs, but PLEASE only DM if you can offer me some kind of help/support (or know where I can go). This is basically nothing more than legal, state-sanctioned domestic abuse.
Finally, if there's a bettemore appropriate sub than here, I can post to, let me know that too...
Thank you
SJ

2024.05.16 05:01 liviliv45 Sterilization & Adoption

Hi!
I am currently 21F and single. I know Iā€™m very young, and probably should not be overthinking these things while I am not sexually active or in a relationship.. However- my anxiety says otherwise! Iā€™d also like to have these things ironed out prior to getting into another relationship (so I wouldnā€™t waste anyoneā€™s time who wants biological children).
As of right now I believe Iā€™d love to be a mother in the future, but I am horrified of all that pregnancy and childbirth entail. As I get further and further into my biology degree, pregnancy seems like itā€™s not for me. Additionally, I do not feel compelled to create a new human being while so many children already exist on this planet.
I also experienced a pregnancy scare with a hookup I had about 6 months ago. I was bedridden from anxiety, unable to eat, unable to leave my house, and unable to share what I was going through with my parents. This experience gave me a lot of time to research the physical reality of pregnancy and it scared me to no end- to the point where I began to hate my body just for possessing the ability to carry a pregnancy. I luckily was not pregnant, and I have a wonderful therapist who Iā€™ve talked about this with.
Despite feeling confident that I never want to experience pregnancy- I have a ton of anxiety about lots of random things.
The thought of growing a human being inside of my body and then having to push them out of a narrow cavity (or horrifyingly have a C-section) pushes me to the brink of hysteria and I feel hopeless and depressed whenever I think about it. I might never get unconditional support from my family if I choose sterilization, so I want to build my confidence around MY choice and what I want for MY body without needing their external validation. I just feel helpless and confused right now.
Thank you to anyone who reads this super long rant. Support or advice around my future plans would be immensely appreciated ā¤ļø

2024.05.16 05:01 AnonymousArizonan Strange Issue With Network (Cont.)

Strange Issue With Network (Cont.)
So I made a post about a week and a half ago which is this one, describing a very strange phenomenon my windows machine is having that I cannot for the life of me solve. I'd like to see if some new eyes could look at it, in addition to the new things I've uncovered/done.
I've done what the comments suggested. I flushed my DNS, did ipconfig /release and /renew neither of which did anything. A network reset under "Advanced network settings" may have helped, as sometimes when I do it and run off of the restart, I don't seem to have the issue. But then when I shut off my PC and turn it back on, it happens again. Sometimes not at all though.
In control panel, network and internet, network and sharing center, I can select my connection and look at the IPv4 and v6 connectivity. Most of the time, not always, both have "Internet" when the machine is working fine, while most of the time when my issue occurs, IPv6 hits me with a "No network access".
I've disabled IPv6 item in the properties button on this same panel. I've manually preferred 8888 as my DNS server and 8844 as my alternative DNS server.
I've done pretty much every single clean, health check and repair command I could find. And I've also tried turning off my firewall completely. Nothing has helped.
I do not have any VPNs installed (that I know of), and only the network device that I'm wanting to use is enabled anyways.
After further observing the issue, I've also noticed a few things. The first, and perhaps this is really telling or it is really pointless, is that I cannot connect to localhost. As in, I have a program running that should run on local host, and it does normally, but when the issue arises, I get "This site can't be reached". Furthermore, I've discovered that the issue almost seems deteriorative. I'm not sure if this is just stuff getting pushed out of ram or something, but I feel as though I can access less websites, or do fewer things the longer the issue persists. Like I might be able to browse forums while the issue is happening initially, but after a few hours I can no longer connect.
Finally, I ran a network report using netsh wlan show wlanreport to see if I could get anything. Not too sure how to read this, or what the important bits are, but I've got failures, 7 warnings, and 0 successes, as per the image attached. Then I get a bunch of descriptions of my sessions. I only see time stamps of activity at the very start of my PC booting up, and then a couple of messages around the time I shutdown, but nothing inbetween or around when the issue strikes for most of them. I don't have an accurate time of boot up and issue arising, but there are a few that have a random "WLAN Extensibility module has stopped." like 3 hours into use, but it seems to also have one at the start and end too and most others do not. Disconnect reasons are varied. My most recent one is "Unknown" and there are a few others which have that.
Any and all possible suggestions, troubleshooting steps, or solutions would be greatly appreciated šŸ™

2024.05.16 05:01 como365 50-hour filibuster forces more negotiations on GOP-backed initiative petition changes ā€¢ ā€œAre the bullies going to win?ā€ Rizzo asked. ā€œOr is the rest of the Senate finally going to stand up for itself and say ā€˜no more.ā€™ā€

50-hour filibuster forces more negotiations on GOP-backed initiative petition changes ā€¢ ā€œAre the bullies going to win?ā€ Rizzo asked. ā€œOr is the rest of the Senate finally going to stand up for itself and say ā€˜no more.ā€™ā€
A 50-hour Democratic filibuster forced the Senateā€™s divided GOP majority to finally yield Wednesday evening, stalling a vote on a bill seeking to make it more difficult to amend Missouriā€™s constitution.
Democrats have blocked all action in the Senate since Monday afternoon, demanding that the legislation be stripped of ā€œballot candyā€ that would bar non-citizens from voting and ban foreign entities from contributing to or sponsoring constitutional amendments, both of which are already illegal.
The Senate passed the bill without ballot candy in February. The House added it back last month.
Senate Minority Leader John Rizzo, an Independence Democrat, on Tuesday said the situation presented an existential crisis for the Senate, as Republicans openly considered a rarely-used maneuver to kill the filibuster and force a vote on the bill.
ā€œAre the bullies going to win?ā€ Rizzo asked. ā€œOr is the rest of the Senate finally going to stand up for itself and say ā€˜no more.ā€™ā€
He got an answer just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, when state Sen. Mary Elizabeth Coleman, an Arnold Republican and the billā€™s sponsor, surprised many of her colleagues by asking that the Senate send the bill back to the House for more negotiations on whether to include ā€œballot candy.ā€
Republicans simply didnā€™t have the votes to kill the filibuster, she said, and Democrats showed no signs of relenting before session ends at 6 p.m. Friday.
ā€œThese policies are too important to play political games with,ā€ Coleman said, adding that going to conference to work out a deal with the House was the only way to keep it alive in the face of unrelenting Democratic opposition. ā€œIn a perfect world, we would not be between a rock and a hard place.ā€
The sudden change in tactics was not well-taken by members of the Freedom Caucus, who argued sending the bill back to the House with only two days left before adjournment puts its chances at risk.
Tim Jones, a former Missouri House speaker and current director of the stateā€™s Freedom Caucus, wrote on social media Thursday evening that Coleman ā€œeffectively killed her own bill today.ā€
Ultimately, the Senate voted 18-13 to send the bill to conference, with nine Republicans joining nine Democrats in support of the move.
If the bill passes, Missourians would have the opportunity to vote later this year on whether or not to require constitutional amendments be approved by both a majority of votes statewide and a majority of votes in five of the stateā€™s eight congressional districts.
Right now, amendments pass with a simple majority.
A possible vote on abortion in November is a catalyst behind the battle over the bill, as a campaign to legalize abortion up to the point of fetal viability is on the path to the statewide ballot.
Republicans have said that without raising the threshold for changing the stateā€™s constitution, a constitutional right to abortion will likely become the law of the land in Missouri.
State Sen. Rick Brattin, a Harrisonville Republican and a member of the Freedom Caucus, tipped his hat to the Democratsā€™ ā€œwherewithalā€ before scorning some of his Republican colleagues.
ā€œUnfortunately, this Republican Party has no backbone to fight for what is right for life,ā€ he shouted from the Senate floor. ā€œ ā€¦ They will have the blood of the innocent on their heads. Shame on this party.ā€
Colemanā€™s move also came as a surprise to state Rep. Alex Riley, a Republican from Springfield who sponsored the initiative petition bill in the House.
ā€œWeā€™re going to have to have some conversations tonight to figure out what exactly it is they have in mind,ā€ he said. ā€œWe will be having many conversations over the next few hours.ā€
House Speaker Dean Plocher said he was pleased to see the impasse broken, adding that the House is ready to work on a final version that can be passed.
He didnā€™t promise to remove the ā€œballot candyā€ added by the House.
Asked if Coleman made a tactical mistake in telling the House to restore the items removed during the first Democratic filibuster, Plocher said he hadnā€™t spoken to Coleman and declined to speculate on whether the outcome would have been different had she not.
Democrats left the Senate Wednesday evening declaring victory.
ā€œThis body by and large is a staunch supporter of democracy. That doesnā€™t just go for one side of the isle. That goes for both sides,ā€ Rizzo said. ā€œThis is not protecting the ballot for Democrats or Republicans or one issue or the other issue that you might like or dislike. This protects the ballot box for Republicans and Democrats alike for the future.ā€
Rizzo maintained that removing the ballot candy is still the only way Democrats will allow the bill to get through the Senate if it returns from the House.
ā€œIf you havenā€™t figured that out in the last three or four days, I donā€™t know where youā€™ve been,ā€ Rizzo said, adding: ā€œHopefully sleeping.ā€
As the Senate prepared to vote, state Sen. Bill Eigel, a Weldon Spring Republican and Freedom Caucus member, warned his colleagues not to be optimistic that the Senate will come back Thursday and pass other bills waiting in the pipeline.
ā€œIf the hope is that this process is going to somehow lead us back to a place of engaging more legislation besides this, Iā€™m gonna say this very clearly,ā€ he said. ā€œDonā€™t get your hopes up.ā€

Not only they are all RUDE!! they do the bare minimum to help everyone, their update times are long, their whole staff is horrible!! they treat everyone bad, with short and lame answers, they actually think we are slaves, and we need to beg for their mercy, when we as customers are the ones bringing life to the business. And because of us they have a job!!!
I had 3 LIFETIME KEYS for WZ3, and ended up getting banned for speaking out the TRUTH!!! They decided to discontinue the product. I paid $255 for each of the keys. When I created a ticket for the 2nd time asking what they were going to do about it for those customers who got those Lifetime subscriptions, they just closed my ticket without any response at all.
After that I sent a very serious message back by opening another ticket, demanding an answer for my paid subs. Them LOSERS/DORKS Banned me from their site leaving me with 3 unused LIFETIME subscriptions. The only weapon they can use against real men, only to show how coward and pussies they are hiding behind a computer!! I probably spent over $1000.00 on their site in under a year, and because I spoke the TRUTH!! You they banned me, this is NOT NAZY GERMANY!! You fuking Tyrant DORKS!!
You give a squirrel a button to kill foxes, and they are just going to keep pressing the button. LOL!! So pathetic. I am long GONE from ever doing any business with any of them. 2024.05.16 04:59 DoragonJei I don't think I want to be here anymore

I resent myself. I feels like I move slower than others do through life. And I hate knowing there are people lookinh back to hold my hand. Like I'm not grown up enough for them and I can't keep up with their life goals.
I've tried to hard to be where I need to be. To move faster and be myself. I just don't have a "fuck it" attitude when it comes to things I don't want to put my energy into. I can't afford to. I can't afford to say "fuck it" and stop putting up with my parents because I still live with them. I can't afford to say "fuck it" to college even if I'm studying something I love I just never have the energy.
It got me thinking about my future and I don't even know if I have one. I feel like such a late bloomer. Didn't get my first credit card until this year. Never had a job in high school because my parents didn't want me to. And right now my parents still haven't taught me a lot. I'm trying to learn on my own. But it's all stuff others already can do.
I don't know how to move out on my own, with probably a low credit score. I can barely take care of myself. Showering, brushing my teeth regularly, they're all problems I have that I just can't get over.
And I stopped taking my depression medicine simply because I didn't want anyone to know I was taking it. Because I can't get into a therapist for months to even help along with the medicine. Every scheduling app I've tried, alarms, reminders. I just can't get myself to take care of myself.
I have no hobbies, no friends that aren't my boyfriend's friends. I feel like I can't be the real me because my parents think it's too much, it pushes friends away. Yet when I have my mask up I'm seen as fake and no one talks to me or hangs out with me.
The only things I like are a few shows, musicals, YouTubers I watch, baking, cooking, and the stuff I study in college. But when there are no groups around to meet people, when my cooking and baking cost money, and I'm bad at keeping in contact, those things feel so far away.
And the issue is I love my boyfriend. I really do. I've come so far and worked so hard and a part of that is him. He's the reason I stopped my ED and cutting. He's the person who got me to open up more. But I just don't know what more I can do to better myself and keep moving forward for not just him but for me.
I can't even tell him it's nearly 11pm and I'm emotional enough I'm considering taking a bunch of my depression pills and seeing what they'll do. Because I know it'll make him feel bad, worse than he already does. I know he's probably also tired of having to look behind him and reach out his hand to help me because I can't do it on my own. And I know he's tired of me taking his hand and then not doing anything to accept his help.
But what do I do when I know he doesn't need me. He loves me and he wants me to succeed and he doesn't want me to hinder myself. But he doesn't need me, my parents don't need me, no one needs me. I don't even know how to cope with this. I feel like life failed me so why continue.
I just keep thinking I don't want to be here anymore. I have nothing going for me. I graduate at the end of next year and I have nothing. Low credit score, a boyfriend who I know hates that I mask around him, I move slower through life than everyone, parents who I can't be myself around, very little street smarts, no friends of my own. A job that doesn't even pay enough to get me a studio apartment. And every job I apply for doesn't respond back.
I'm going to try and sleep because I have work tomorrow but I'm considering taking a bunch of my medicine and seeing what happens. Especially because I don't work Fridays and I'm not seeing my boyfriend or any friends over the weekend.

2024.05.16 04:59 lilylady This week can be over now

I started off this week feeling a little under the weather Monday. I thought it was allergies since this time of year kills me. Nope by Tuesday I knew it was for sure Strep. Urgent care confirmed. I texted everyone I saw on mother's day including my mom who is on chemo and my 93 year old grandma. I thought we were lucky cus everyone else in my house appeared healthy.
Then this morning one of my 3 kids woke up with a sore throat. My husband took himself and all 3 kids to urgent care. Everyone except one kid had Strep. I texted the baby's daycare to let them know and I get back "oh yeah half the teachers were out last week with Strep. Sorry Baby caught it. Poor thing." Are. You. Shitting. Me. I would have never taken my kids to my mom's for mother's day if I knew the whole damn daycare had Strep. Seriously? When I feel less like death I'm going to be having an unfriendly chat with the daycare director.
So on top of not being able to eat or sleep cus I feel like my throat is made of glass shards I had my 10 year old openly sobbing all day due to throat pain (she's had all the pain meds, cold water, tea, lozenges)AND the world's most unbothered energetic 8 month old to take care of for the afternoon. The other 10 year old was obviously avoiding us to avoid the plague. Husband works remotely so he went back to work for the afternoon, which fair he did take the kids to urgent care by himself. Also he was working while having strep so that sucks. I at least took off Tuesday and today.
THEN, because life doesn't suck enough my mom calls to let me know not to worry but she's gonna go to the ER. Why? Cus she thinks she has shingles. When did the symptoms start? Saturday. She gets to the hospital... it's totally shingles. Oh and she's getting transfered to the big city hospital due to complicating factors. Oh and BTW has the baby had her chicken pox vaccine? šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø You're kidding me right now. A kid with Strep AND chicken pox... though I'm not sure I'd ever be able to tell because this girl is in the middle of an eczema flare up that looks like hives some days... she's on the wait list at the dermatologist but won't be seen until October.
So now I'm so worried about my mom cus she's honestly not doing good with stage 4 cancer and now shingles. I'm pissed at literally the universe about all the germs on this damn planet. On top of that my brother who isn't speaking to me and I'm not speaking to thought mom being in the hospital was a good time to extend an olive branch. But I'm so tired I can't see straight.
The end. I hate it.

2024.05.16 04:58 Dsg1695 If a 29F has still never been in a LTR, is it really worth pursuing one at this point in her life?

Before I get the ā€œomg youā€™re only 29ā€, look people were telling me this at 21 & flash forward to almost 10 yrs later. Iā€™ve only ever been in a STR for a few months & honestly I wasnā€™t crazy for him, thatā€™s why Iā€™m glad it ended. And that was in my early twenties, I do struggle with being unsure if I actually want a relationship as I donā€™t really have much of a sex drive at all & kind of get the ick with sex/passionate intimacy/sometimes PDA. I donā€™t know if to call it asexual because Iā€™m so worried it really is as simple as not finding the right person yet (or at least thatā€™s what everyone says). I find guys attractive & Iā€™ve interacted with other decent/some attractive guys through dating apps over the years (as Iā€™m not social) but thereā€™s just something that makes me self sabotage or I simply just donā€™t feel it. And again, Iā€™d rather be single than be with someone that feels like settling, as thatā€™s how it felt with the first guy I saw. I donā€™t want kids but Iā€™m open to a LTR that can possibly turn into marriage, I just feel like for the most part Iā€™m sure about things I want in life but this is something that consumes me/makes me question & itā€™s mind boggling.

2024.05.16 04:58 mafggbfv Starting new job, need advice on car

Hi I finally landed a new job. It requires 3 days a week in the office and itā€™s 30 miles away. With no traffic itā€™s 30 minutes. I might end up sitting in traffic for an hour if I leave during rush hour. Iā€™m based in the US
Some things Iā€™m hoping for: - Very safe. I have a baby so Iā€™m foreseeing needing to use this car to take her around sometimes. Weā€™re thinking about another kid in the next year so Iā€™m open to a larger car too. I donā€™t think a minivan is convenient for commuting though. - electric or hybrid. The office park has a charging station which is a nice perk - cruise control/ auto park: these are optional but a nice to have! - price range. Honestly Iā€™m looking for something around 30-40k. - low maintenance cost if possible
Iā€™m overwhelmed with the number of options online. I appreciate any advice. Thank you!

[3 YoE] Mid-level SWE not hearing back from applications - edited the resume based on the docs template
I have 3 YOE of experience as a SDE, post which I got my Masters degree. I started working with a semiconductor company but the role is not entirely SDE work. I don't see much potential for growth here and I've been actively applying to jobs, using referrals and reaching out to the hiring team whenever possible. However, I'm having a tough time hearing back, even with recruiter screens/OAs.
I got feedback to lead the sentence with the result/metric and move my skills up, I made those changes based on my previous post. I want to know if there is anything else I could do to improve my resume.
I managed to get one interview with Amazon, but I got lucky when a recruiter I reached out to in January randomly got back to me in March. I've reviewed the wiki a couple of times and this is the third time I'm trying to post here.
I'm open to relocation and I'm applying to SWE roles (onsite/remote/hybrid).I do need sponsorship, but I know fellow internationals are getting interviews so I'd really appreciate some feedback on how I can improve my resume. Thanks in advance!

2024.05.16 04:57 Zeeco110 Derrick discusses the creative process for "We Recommend This Video"

Link to original Twitter thread and script of the video
"I was in a class setting recently at the teacher wanted to share a YouTube Video with the class. The sidebar was filled with harmless, but slightly embarrassing related videos. I just kept thinking about how awkward and funny that was.
I was talking to the other boys about how I wanted to make a really dry skit, kinda inspired by Safdie Brothers movies. I just kept talking about how the sidebar should be filled with really incriminating stuff and Rocco blurted out "Yeah, like how to fuck dogs" I died laughing.
I originally wrote this thinking it would be for me and Shawn, but Shawn said Garrett should take the role. Plus Garret had a dog, so if he was willing to bring the Dog in, he'd be the best actor to work with the little buddy.
Originally the sidebar was filled with a bunch of weird political crap, but when it came time to make the thumbnails (I made them on Canva) I just used the basic template thumbnails they recommended. Seemed like generic videos ALL about dogs would be way funnier.
When we were editing this, I put most of the video together. But originally the opening video Garret shares was silent. Rocco said we should add clown music and "BOINK" sounds... which was a good call. made the whole opening way weirder and a LOT funnier.
The confrontation in the office was filmed with 2 cameras, and me and Garrett acted through the scene in 1 go. We wanted it to be as natural and awkward as possible, so we just ran the scene and filmed both actors at the same time. Took about 4 takes to get it right.
Johnny was behind the camera for the coffee pot scene. He REALLY wanted me to put my head against the door like Jack Torrance in the shining. I'm glad he did cause that scene was a lot longer, and we ended up needing to cut to an alternate shot to make it go faster.
I ended up creating an entire fake YouTube page for the opening "Funny Video" including fake info and a fake pinned top comment. These sections tell the story of a Youtuber who got dumped days after his parent died. He went to a convention and had a "Level 17" coronary event.
While editing, I cut a few jokes out to make the conversation go by as fast as possible. I was really nervous what the reaction would be to this video, but people seem to like it so that's great! Glad people like the new video!!"

2024.05.16 04:56 textrovertedginger A4A Long Term Slow Burn M/M & M/F CanonxCanon Pairings Plots

Hi all! I'm 30+, write 2-5+ paragraphs, post a few times per week, and love plotting! I'm currently looking for someone to plot out and write a long term Harry Potter RP with Canon/Canon pairings. I have several different plot ideas, but I'm also open to any ideas interested parties may already have brewing! I'm looking for someone who will match my enthusiasm, doesn't mind my meandering pace, and is interested in some long running and complex stories.
Pairings M/F - Hermione/Draco; Hermione/Harry; Hermione/Severus; Hermione/Lucius; George/(Hermione or Pansy)/Fred M/M - Draco/Harry; Draco/Ron; ArthuLucius, George/(Draco or Harry)/Fred
I don't have a preference for which character I play in any of those pairings, and I'm looking forward to play tons of canon side characters (looking for a partner who would be too!). Iā€™m happy to double with pairings and characters outside of what's listed above; I really can't think of a character I wouldn't be interested in exploring from canon!
Plot Bunnies These are just jumping off points - Iā€™d love to hear any ideas interested parties might have as well!
Intense Wartime Romance What it says on the tin! Iā€™m craving an intense wartime drama/romance for any of the pairings listed above! Missions trying to bring down Voldemort, safehouses, polyjuice potions, all sorts of shenanigans. I see this as being in a universe where the war went longer. Maybe the Trio isnā€™t able to get the Cup so the efforts drag on and on while Voldemort gains followers and becomes even more brutal in his attacks.
World-Spanning Epic Ten years after the fall of Voldemort the numbers of magical children have dropped off a cliff and occurrences of squibs in magical families has skyrocketed. In fact, all around the world, in every magical species, numbers were dropping off all at once. Magic is dying and, for whatever reasons, our characters get thrust together to find a way to fix it. This would involve our characters visiting other magical societies/preserves/etc around the world, with a lot of possibility for worldbuilding original content for them to encounter.
6th Year Rewrite This is specifically Draco-centered. A rewrite where someone from the Golden Trio ends up befriending/romancing him and things change drastically.
Time Travel Fix-It - Full Series Rewrite What it says on the tin! Somehow one or both of our characters get sent back from the end of canon to the beginning with all their memories intact. An opportunity to change the way things happened; to save friends who died and bring to justice those who escaped it the first time around. This would be a really ambitious, super long term project.
Word Bank (Sort Of) Romance; intrigue; mystery; action/adventure; time travel; bold declarations; political intrigue; other magical societies; tenderness; Order missions; episodic and overarching plots; slow burn; purebloods in the Muggle world; internal struggles against childhood indoctrination into pureblood bigotry; gritty realism; moral ambiguity; arranged marriages; experimental magic; a magical apocalypse but the characters are kind of over heroics and mostly just complain while they save the world again.
If any of this interests you, please send me a message with a little about yourself and as much as you want about what you're looking for in a collaborative writing experience. We can exchange writing samples and talk plot!

2024.05.16 04:54 danfutrell For most Americans, college is broken. We're building a new model.

For most Americans, college is no longer working. A bachelor's degree doesnā€™t reliably guarantee what universities say it delivers: an investment that prepares you for the workplace and the world. While the income gap between college and high school grads is well documented, the wealth gap is ā€œindistinguishable from zeroā€ due to unconstrained costs, regardless of race or ethnicity. Put differently, college grads will earn more but because of their student loans, theyā€™ll have the same amount in their bank account as someone who didnā€™t go to college at all1 . Barely one in ten (11%) business leaders believe that college graduates have the skills and competencies that their workplaces need2 . Instead, employers report recent hires showing up without the requisite skills required to contribute as productive employees3.
Traditional universities spend more on non-instructional initiatives like research and athletics instead of developing knowledge and skills that prepare its students. Today, 1M students annually report that they didnā€™t enroll or they dropped out of college because of the cost4 . Americans carry $1.8T in student loan debt while universities have increased the cost of tuition by 30-40%5 since 2010. Economists report that over the next ten years, businesses will have increasingly more job openings for college graduates with no adequate supply6 . Additionally, as artificial intelligence threatens jobs across industries, humans will be pushed up or out ā€“ up to more intellectually intensive and integrative roles, or out of the workforce altogether. Our nationā€™s economy needs a sustainable, accessible, and effective approach to college if weā€™re to compete globally.
SOLUTION Polymath University will produce more-prepared graduates through a three-major curriculum, delivered year-round and remotely to same-city cohorts, who will serve apprenticeships en route to graduation in three years.
A polymath is someone who has built depth, breadth, and integration of knowledge. Specifically, polymaths can operate fluently and with expertise (depth) in three or more non-adjacent domains (breadth), and have built the critical skill of applying concepts and frameworks in one domain to complex problems in other domains (integration). Polymath University empowers leaders and problem solvers to thrive in a more complex and technologically-enabled world.
RANGE Polymath Universityā€™s approach to education, and its namesake, is built on ensuring that graduates are curious, creative, collaborative, and critically-minded. Polymaths have been proven to be more creative and more adept at solving complex problems, and more resilient against economic shocks7. Building a broad, generalist field of knowledge and expertise, as opposed to the hyper-specialization that traditional higher education encourages, makes graduates more valuable in the world and workplace. According to a 2012 study of serial innovators8, polymaths are described as having a high tolerance for ambiguity and as systems thinkers. Polymaths can connect disparate pieces of information in new ways, making them highly effective at innovative problem solving. And they are adept at repurposing what is already available and synthesizing information from many different sources.9 A Future of Jobs report highlighted the following skills being increasingly demanded by employers (all of which polymaths excel at): creative thinking; analytical thinking; technological literacy; curiosity and lifelong learning; resilience, flexibility, and agility; and systems thinking.10
REAL-WORLD APPRENTICESHIPS Polymath University will partner with employers to ensure that its degree programs serve the talent acquisition needs of regional business and organizations, and that those degrees include skill development that is often short-changed by traditional universities. In years two and three, students will serve as apprentices with those employer partners in high-demand, early career roles. Across the country, more employers are building apprenticeship programs as a key part of their talent acquisition strategy, with Department of Labor registered apprenticeships doubling since 2010 to 250,000. Many of these employers pay some or all of the tuition for their apprentices to concurrently earn a college degree.
REMOTE Educational outcomes lead all other priorities for Polymath University, and we must hold this as our north star. This means that the most important activity for faculty will be teaching or the associated development through coaching and mentoring their students. As Polymath University is led by the former CEO of the Pat Tillman Foundation, and counts ten Tillman Scholars on its Advisory Board, the Tillman Scholar community will seed Polymath Universityā€™s initial set of faculty, drawing on their service and academic experiences to support student learning. Courses will be delivered remotely, but to same-city cohorts that will facilitate week-long immersive and collaborative in-person experiences as well as informal study groups throughout the year, unlocking persistent relationships and networks within our community.

2024.05.16 04:52 Sick_ofallthis_shit Is it possible to overcome a negative client reputation to be able to hire a new lawyer?

I'm at my wits end.
I have an active civil case. My attorney requested I complete the discovery questions. However at the time I experienced significant mental health challenges. (without all the details it was really bad, I lost my job, too) I isolated myself from everyone including my attorney for way too long, months. Attorney withdrew from the case. Once I came out of it I attempted to reach out. No response. I contacted other attorneys they all turned down my case. One attorney I contacted said he would be blunt and honest, he had two concerns: 1. He shared that he is friends with the previous attorney. Says being fired from my previous attorney is a red flag. 2. I contacted 4 other attorneys prior to being referred to him by one of the firms that turned down my case. He said it was concerning that I contacted so many other firms. But the next hearing was in 30 days, I am not sure how else I was supposed to handle that.
So... it seems not that my case isn't winnable or profitable but I'm being iced out. I regret my poor management of the situation and I apologized to the previous attorney. I am in a much better place and fully prepared to move forward.
Is there any way to overcome this so a firm will represent me? Or am I permanently on my own?

2024.05.16 04:52 Commercial_Swim2906 Compromised Skin Barrier with a Complicated (But Once Happy) Complexion - Please Help!

CAUTION: LONG!
So this has happened to me once before (over a decade ago) and the whole ordeal seriously left me with PTSD. Back then, a vitamin recommended to me by a physio to treat a pinched nerve broke out what was great skin so I made the mistake of throwing all kinds of things at the issue. I learned my lesson and have kept a gentle, simple, natural routine ever since. My skin has been lovely, calm and clear as a result - even downright glowy and dewy.
Ironically, it was an oil for a recent ear infection (when antibiotics failed) which dribbled onto my skin that I believe must've done this. First, it gave me clogs which I only massaged a bit of jojoba oil into and I exfoliated twice in, oh gee, two weeks rather than my usual 4-6 weeks because, twice-over, I noticed some skin peeling in the area where the oil would land (I would wipe it and/or wash it off, but would awaken to find more had come out and onto my temporary (used a different one while this was going on) pillow so my skin was resting against that stuff for hours). I haven't taken an antibiotic for 9 or 10 years prior to this. Indeed, I always get a little stinging blotch by my right eye, on-off, for awhile after taking them and this time was no different. I'm wondering if they even messed with my skin's microbiota, contributing to this some and for what?! They didn't even cure the infection (which I thought could be viral since it lead on from a cold)! I understand there are barrier creams which contain probiotics/prebiotics and these interest me.
For said exfoliation, I always use ground oats mixed with a hydrosol or spring water which I then gently massage over my skin. This is what I have done for years and which a Garden of Wisdom skin consultant who worked with me back during the first round of an impaired skin barrier, okayed. I usually only do this every 4-6 weeks - sometimes going for longer, I'm just not a strong believer in exfoliating the skin on the face often, ironically.
So, last week, after the second exfoliation followed by my usual (gentle!) skin routine, my face flipped out within hours. I use no acids, no other actives, no alcohol-containing products or harsh, stripping cleansers. Hell, I don't even use masks anymore! I wear no makeup and my sunscreen for my face is a solid 50 SPF hat and a little raspberry seed oil.
I have sensitive skin - mostly normal - but it can be prone to clogs when it comes to heavier stuff. Last time my barrier got nuked, I was recommended a moisturizer with beeswax and I knew better than to use it but was desperate. I then paid with 60 clogged pores all over my face and neck which led to a summer of broken out skin while the mess purged. Since entering perimenopause (I'm 46), I've had perioral dermatitis rashes which I've learned to control and heal up, wholistically, within a day or two (they're also usually pretty mild). But,, I know many of you are going to suggest I slather Vaseline or diaper cream on my face but with PD (which I'm more vulnerable to now with my messed up barrier), you can't use anything too occlusive and, frankly, I clog up and break out when it comes to heavy creams and ointments. Heck even light ones can break me out which is why a combo of oil ( SIBU Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil)+ Avene Thermale Water spray +Caudalie Grape Water + hydrosol (helichrysum or frankincense).
My hydrosols sting and sometimes also the pure aloe vera gel I have always cleansed my skin with (I also just use water now and then too) since the last time this happened sometimes burns, even plain water does and my favorite oil seems to be doing didley squat to help this (unlike last time). I am still using Avene and Caudalie (also has prebiotics) sprays because they mostly soothe.
Before and in being an herbalist, I made certain herbal concoctions and they were a huge saving grace then but now - they either soothe me or, alternatively and oddly, make my skin itch in my lower cheeks. I hadn't needed to be on one for 9 or 10 years prior to this. Indeed, I always get a little blotch by my right eye on-off for awhile after taking them.
Right now, I'm using products from Garden of Wisdom's soothing line plus their ceramides serum, but I just don;'t know if they're helping or hurting. It's only been a week since I started and they really seemed to soothe me for a couple of days but now, I think a couple items could be irritating me - not sure. but they were suggested to me by their rep (who also suggested I use a product with friggin' tea tree and oregano oils for the zits I'm getting with this ordeal! She also didn't steer me in the direction of their ceramides serum which some reviewers say healed their barriers, or another barrier-healing serum which I was considering, but I got another she suggested (which I find sticky due to the inclusion of honey and possibly irritating).
I have an excellent whole foods diet, take certain skin-supportive nutrients (and have for years) and try and drink plenty of water every day. To make things even more complicated, I'm having hormonal night sweats which are, no, doubt, not helping this due to the loss of fluid and if I leave sweat on my face, I break out and here I'm trying to keep my face cleansing to one to two times a day (using just lukewarm water in the day, aloe vera gel or, occasionally the GoW cleanser at night). Normally, I go and give my face a quick rinse when this happens, but normally my moisture barrier isn't disrupted! I'm newly onto a wild yam cream which was a life-saver for me in my 20s so we will see how it works now.
Sorry this was a ramble, but I'm a writer and a worried one at that. I thank you all so much for any suggestions (and, yes,m I am open to not-so-natural things just to get this healed but I;m not open to stuff that is just gonna leave me with other problems like multiple clogs, zits and PD flare-ups). I do not want for this to take as long as it did last time so as to heal and even once it did, my skin was reactive for a few years thereafter. I'm hearing just a simple, gentle cleanser (am highly allergic to sulfates! I also cannot do denatured and other drying alcohols!) and a good barrier cream might heal the compromised barrier in 2-6 weeks. I am really going to miss my hydrosols...
This ordeal has me in a lot of pain, distress and I am mucho depressed as this is the 'straw that broke the camel's back' when it comes to my life at present. Frankly,, my whole head is a mess at this point: chronic eye and ear have (ETD since the infection now) issues, the return or migraines, three lost fillings in a few months and now my facial skin health!
With me, it's different because it's not like I need to pare things back since I normally have such a simple, gentle routine anyway. It's is more like I still need a simple routine, but with certain added healing and soothing factors which are going to help, and get, my skin to recover. I'ave also thought of just using water to cleanse my skin with and spritzing with just some Avene - nothing else an seeing how that goes for a couple of weeks. But I worry how my skin might feel in the process.
Thank you so much for any advice.
