2024.05.13 22:29 graesen CFPB complaint = denied Navient misconduct application (refinanced loans before app existed, expected response)
I'm hoping the attorneys here might help, but I'm expecting to be out of luck. I've shared my story in a comment late last week, but I think sharing as new might be easier for documentation.
In 2022, my Navient private loans were at (over? - I can't remember specifically) 10%. It was getting tough to afford and any sort of relief was looking less and less likely, lots of comments (not necessarily here, but other financial/student loan groups) were suggesting to refinance. I tried to hold off as late as I could hoping this would develop into something, but 10% was my limit. Anyway... I ended up refinancing with another loan servicer in 2022. Based on this happening alone, I expected Navient to do absolutely nothing for me.
However... after seeing this application come about in this sub-reddit, I was getting pretty upset. Navient really screwed me as well as the school I attended. I attended The International Academy of Design & Technology, which changed names to Stafford-Brown College years after I graduated. The school pushed me towards private loans, telling me I had exhausted my limit for federal loans. I believe this was a lie because when reviewing my information in the last couple of years since filling out my BD application and seeing a large portion of money I could borrow - this was before my federal loans were forgiven. The other thing that pissed me off was that we specifically asked not to take a Parent PLUS loan out because my single mother couldn't afford it. Guess what, they snuck the paperwork in for the Parent Plus loan in a large packet and did the whole "sign here, here, here, and here" thing and said it was to secure the loans. Didn't even mention the Parent loan was mixed in there. So I paid that myself... And unfortunately, I didn't think to file a separate BD application for this until AFTER the deadline to be full class, so this is a post class application. Also because I paid it off years ago, it wasn't a thought. And the first application I filed (this was post class (not under DeVos) was immediately denied because it was paid off, so I filed a 2nd one and noted that I was hoping to be considered full class for refund considering I filed a one for my other loans already and cited my case number. Last I checked (long time ago) it was still pending.
I attended IADT from 2003-2007. My private loans were initially Sallie Mae, then moved to Navient. Under both servicers, I struggled to pay and they only options they gave me were deferment or interest only payments. I had since exhausted my ability to defer and even when interest reached 10% in 2022, they only offered deferment (well, not really because they told me I exhausted that) or interest only payments. Which is also why I refinanced elsewhere. Long story short, since 2007 when I was required to begin making payments, I have paid 2-3 times what I borrowed on my loans and still owed half as of 2022.
CFPB Since learning about the misconduct application and a recommendation to file a CFPB complaint to be able to apply, I tried it. I basically asked to be able to apply like anyone else and if the application proves that I was a victim, I asked for Navient to buy my loans back from my new servicer and treat my case like any other. I didn't expect they would do this, but worth trying, right? About a week later, they responded basically saying that because my loans are paid in full and they are no longer my servicer, I am not eligible for the application. I mean, it makes sense on the surface. But it does NOT excuse them taking such advantage of me nor does it discount the fact I was a victim of fraud. I have 60 days to provide feedback to my CFPB response, but the case is closed. Feedback is only used to help improve the process, not affect my complaint outcome in any way.
Side note - Since 2007, probably a few years later, I had reached out to 1-2 lawyers about suing, but no one wanted to touch it nor did I know who or how to really approach any of this legally. One was already suing IADT in Florida (I'm in Illinois) and I only reached out to that one or even knew about it because it showed up on a news article. Initially, when I reached out, the lawyer said they would include me and expand the case outside of Florida. A while later, they rescinded and said they couldn't help me. I'm not even sure if the case in FL went anywhere.
I also discovered during my BD application process when looking for evidence that in 2019, like 49 states sued CEC (the parent company of IADT) and settled by stopping all of the loans for their schools. I was not informed or included in this settlement and I don't know why. Here's 1 article discussing it -
https://www.npr.org/2019/01/03/682057881/nearly-180-000-students-wont-have-to-repay-loans-from-for-profit-higher-ed-compa I had reached out to my state's AG twice to inquire about this and why I wasn't included. The 1st time, they basically said "What case?" and acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and ignored me afterwards. The 2nd time I got no response. So... I'm not sure what this settlement even entailed. I also checked all of the boxes for the Navient settlement before SvC
except that I was not in default. Had I been in default, I would have found relief in that settlement. So... yeah, striking out here.

2024.05.13 22:24 Embire Disney and Warner Bros Discovery Reinvent Cable: A New Era in Streaming
In a groundbreaking move, Disney and Warner Bros Discovery are reshaping the entertainment landscape by blending traditional cable TV with modern streaming services. This innovative approach creates a new hybrid model that merges the best aspects of both worlds, offering a fresh way for audiences to enjoy content.
A Hybrid Approach Disney and Warner Bros Discovery are utilizing their extensive libraries to create subscription-based services that combine the structure of cable TV with the flexibility of streaming. These services offer curated channels, live programming, and vast on-demand libraries, providing a comprehensive entertainment experience that caters to a variety of viewer preferences.
Key Drivers Several factors are driving this transformation:
- Content Volume: Both companies possess vast catalogs of movies, TV shows, and exclusive content. By presenting these offerings in a cable-like format, they can maximize the value of their extensive libraries.
- Viewer Preferences: Many consumers still appreciate the organized and predictable nature of scheduled programming. This new model offers the simplicity of cable TV while retaining the flexibility of streaming.
- Revenue Potential: The hybrid model creates multiple revenue streams, including subscription fees, advertising, and premium add-ons, allowing the companies to optimize their monetization strategies.
Technological Integration Advanced technology plays a crucial role in this new model. AI and sophisticated algorithms personalize the viewing experience, providing tailored recommendations and integrating live programming seamlessly. This technological backbone ensures a dynamic and engaging platform for users.
Industry Impact The move by Disney and Warner Bros Discovery is likely to have significant effects on the media industry. Competitors may be compelled to innovate and adapt, leading to an overall improvement in how content is delivered and consumed. Traditional cable providers and smaller streaming services will need to rethink their strategies to remain competitive.
Benefits for Consumers Consumers stand to gain significantly from this hybrid approach. They will enjoy the curated, predictable nature of cable TV along with the expansive on-demand libraries of streaming services. This model aims to reduce the overwhelming choice paralysis often associated with modern streaming platforms while maintaining the flexibility viewers have come to expect.
Conclusion Disney and Warner Bros Discovery are pioneering a new era in entertainment by merging the strengths of cable TV with the conveniences of streaming. This innovative approach not only enhances the viewing experience for consumers but also sets a new standard for the industry. As these companies lead the way, the future of media consumption looks more integrated and user-friendly than ever before.

2024.05.13 22:22 Embire Disney and Warner Bros Discovery Reinvent Cable: A New Era of Streaming
In a bold move that has sent ripples through the entertainment industry, Disney and Warner Bros Discovery have effectively reinvented cable, merging traditional television concepts with modern streaming services. This initiative marks a significant shift in the media landscape, blurring the lines between conventional cable and on-demand streaming.
The New Paradigm Disney and Warner Bros Discovery are integrating their vast libraries of content into streamlined, subscription-based services that mimic the structure of cable TV but with the flexibility and convenience of streaming. This approach offers curated channels and live programming, alongside the extensive on-demand libraries that streaming platforms are known for. The aim is to provide a one-stop-shop for entertainment, catering to a wide range of viewer preferences and habits.
Driving Factors Several key factors are driving this transformation:
- Content Abundance: Both Disney and Warner Bros Discovery boast extensive catalogs of movies, TV shows, and exclusive content. By packaging these offerings into a more traditional cable-like format, they can better leverage their vast content libraries.
- Consumer Demand: There is a growing demand for a more organized and predictable viewing experience. While the freedom to choose from a massive selection is appealing, many consumers still crave the simplicity and reliability of scheduled programming.
- Revenue Optimization: By combining the best elements of cable and streaming, these companies can potentially unlock new revenue streams. Subscription fees, advertising, and premium add-ons create multiple avenues for monetization.
Technological Integration The technological backbone of this new model is crucial. Advanced algorithms and AI are employed to create personalized viewing experiences, dynamically adjusting recommendations based on viewer preferences. Additionally, live programming and events are seamlessly integrated into the platform, offering viewers a sense of immediacy and community that traditional streaming services often lack.
Industry Impact This strategic shift by Disney and Warner Bros Discovery is likely to have far-reaching implications for the broader media landscape. Competitors may feel pressure to innovate and adapt, leading to an overall enhancement in how content is delivered and consumed. Smaller streaming services and traditional cable providers might need to rethink their strategies to stay relevant in this evolving market.
Consumer Perspective For consumers, the benefits are manifold. They get the best of both worlds: the curated, predictable nature of cable, combined with the expansive, on-demand library of streaming services. This hybrid model aims to reduce the overwhelming choice paralysis that often accompanies modern streaming platforms while maintaining the flexibility that viewers have come to expect.
Conclusion Disney and Warner Bros Discovery's initiative to reinvent cable through their streaming services is a testament to their ability to adapt and innovate in a rapidly changing industry. By merging the strengths of traditional television with the conveniences of streaming, they are setting a new standard for how entertainment is delivered and consumed. This move not only benefits consumers but also sets a precedent for the future of media consumption.

2024.05.13 22:10 MillionaireByTrade PAW Chain Unchained 5/6/2024 - 5/13/2024
“Real gold is not afraid of the melting pot” - Old Chinese proverb
The core development team achieved a major milestone this week. They reached Certik KYC gold certification for providing the maximum amount of identification possible for the core team. This proves without a shadow of a doubt the team is dedicated to the long term goals they have talked about since launch. Out of all the protocols and teams Certik has looked at, a grand total of 74 projects have reached KYC gold. This is a rare feat that will allow people outside the PAW Chain community to trust that all aspects of the PAW Chain launch are being handled with integrity.
Certik voting is still in progress as we aim to be the top project to receive $20k in free services. With PAWswap coming in at #19 in overall Skynet security score, the goal is to get that rank even higher. The team as always is committed to security as the main priority, and grabbing an extra $20k in services from Certik can only improve the security of the network.
Voting for PAWswap is available every 24 hours, and it is at the bottom of the page under “Monitoring”.
Build on PAW featured
u/officialLXNK which is headed by DevilDog. His side-scrolling game is just a part of his plans to use in-game currency to get crypto into the hands of people from poorer countries. His goal is to expand the reach of cryptocurrency to those without the resources to consistently invest in their crypto future. PAW Chain will factor into the future of LXNK as the cheap fees and multichain accessibility will make it much easier to get money into the hands of more people.
Not only has the PAW Chain community been showing out on the voting for Killer Whales, the production team for the show is really taking notice. We have seen PAW Chain mentions from influential accounts rise over the last week. Because of the amazing job the community has done voting for PAW Chain, we will be featured on an X space hosted by CoinMarketCap along with the other top 5 projects for the previous week. This spotlight will give our speaker 10 minutes to pitch why we deserve to be on season 2. This will happen each week during the voting process, so we will have multiple opportunities to showcase our greatest assets in front of a massive audience.
PAW Chain has been the clear favorite to win the Killer Whales voting competition since it started. While we have slipped from first place a few times, the commitment from our community is going to make it hard for anyone else to keep up the voting pace. As of this writing PAW Chain has 349,800 votes. A staggering amount in 13 days.
We definitely bridged the gap on Bridging the Gap this past week. Ibrahym0x educated us on the possibilities of XFTs. These are basically NFTs with vault storage. You can place coins, tokens, or other NFTs inside of these vaults. This is a massive innovative jump for RWAs and their ties to NFTs. His collection of hyena XFTs is the first line of vault storage items for sale on his website.
Test-Net will be updated eventually, but we are currently waiting for it to be set up on an internal domain for Certik to perform their own testing. We will make an official announcement when Test-Net is released.
Thank you for taking the time to tune in to this week’s newsletter. There are so many exciting things happening at once, and we appreciate the amazing community that shows up day after day. Without everyone doing their part to support the project, no matter what support that is, we wouldn’t have this amazing launch to look forward to.

MY REBUTTAL TO THE OBLIGATORY “IS THIS A SCAM?” QUESTION: At the risk of sounding arrogant, I consider myself to be at least marginally more intelligent (both academically & socially) than the average person. Therefore, if I ever decided to suddenly risk prison time, risk my reputation, and risk enduring the wrath of modern-day “cancel culture” by scamming people out of their money:
- I certainly wouldn’t do it for such paltry amounts of money. (i.e., anything less than $1,000 per victim.)
- I certainly wouldn’t choose high school & college students as my “target audience” to scam, considering that most people without college degrees have abysmally low annual incomes. Why choose low-income victims when it would be much more profitable to target high-income, high-net-worth individuals earning at least six figures a year? I have knowledge in business consulting, and I promise you that a business owner would be a MUCH more lucrative mark than a low-income college student.
- I wouldn’t choose such a time & energy-draining method of scamming people. Also, communicating back and forth with potential clients is an absurdly long time sink since only less than 10% of all potential clients who reach out to me actually become paying clients of mine. This means that 90% of my time communicating with potential clients ultimately proves to be a colossal waste of my irretrievable time & energy.
- If you pay me to provide academic services and I don’t deliver, you can always dispute the payment with the payment app and easily get your money refunded. If I were in the habit of swindling money from people, then all of my payment accounts would have been investigated and be completely shut down by now. And I would have been permanently banned from opening new accounts. Therefore, the fact that all my payment apps have been fully active for years should be sufficient proof that I haven’t had people consistently disputing payments sent to me.
HOW TO CONTACT ME: - If you are interested in my services and would like to learn more info, please feel free to reach out to me.
- Text messages and email are the fastest and easiest ways to get in touch with me. However, I gladly accept phone calls.
- If I don't respond right away, I am most likely helping a student at the time and not currently available to speak on the phone. But I always make a solid effort to reply to texts, emails, and phone calls within an hour.

2024.05.13 21:09 Tech_Mo $CIA - undervalued, low float, 70 days to cover, up 30% past month
Overview
Citizens, Inc. is a boring Boomer company headquartered in Austin, TX that provides life insurance products, operating in the Southern U.S. as well as internationally in South America and the Pacific Rim. It has two main segments, Life Insurance and Home Service Insurance. I believe their stock is currently undervalued due to a variety of factors, which I will dive into here briefly.
Life Insurance = Latinos
The Life Insurance segment issues ordinary whole life insurance and endowment policies in USD-denominated amounts to non-U.S. residents through non-employee contractors in mostly Latin America via their Puerto Rican entity. These are attractive to people in these countries where there is rampant inflation because they receive payments back in USD. They provide them the option to receive money back in either cash or shares of CIA, meaning they literally market buy shares for these policyholders. They heavily advertise this, with the expectation that shares will grow in value over time. This has led to an estimated 70% of the float now being held by non-US residents. Why is this important? We’ll get to that later.
Citizens, Inc. is not a small regional bank, but is being valued like one
Life Insurance makes up about 70% of premiums with a renewal rate of 85%+, and premiums are collected upfront once per year. These funds are invested in available-for-sale ("AFS") fixed maturity securities, essentially corporate bonds, municipal bonds, and government obligation bonds with investment grade ratings. AFS means these are priced continuously as opposed to “Held to Maturity” which would be like how the banks measured their reserves. Due to rising interest rates, these securities have been marked down significantly even if they have not been sold yet, which has led to lower income in recent quarters and a net unrealized loss of $200M. Sound familiar? This is what happened with the banks like Silvergate and Silicon Valley bank - those banks died because there was a duration mismatch between the securities they owned and the fast rate of redemptions that occurred during the bank run. Those forced liquidations made the losses realized and the banks became insolvent. Pretty different story here - the closest thing to a bank run scenario here would be if policyholders all surrendered (cashed in) at once, however, they would incur a 10% fee in doing so. This makes it much less likely for Citizens to need to mass liquidate their holdings at once. The only other way they would have to realize these losses is if there were claims (aka people die).
My thesis is that Citizens is being incorrectly treated like a regional bank and undervalued based on these unrealized losses, which have not put the business at any risk for insolvency, and likely will not materialize by the time interest rates reverse course due to a Fed pivot.
Home Insurance
The Home Service Insurance segment makes up the other 30% or so in premiums and 10% of operating profits. The company offers final expense life insurance and property insurance policies to middle-and lower-income households, as well as whole life products in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas through funeral homes and independent agents. In general, the Home Insurance segment is relatively stable and is not their cash cow. It is however highly regulated inside of the U.S., which benefits the broader business since they share the same IT infrastructure to comply with AML and other compliance procedures and policies.
Financials
At a current market valuation of approximately $100M, with $27M in cash and generating approximately $25M in cash per year, the company is trading at an effective EV/E of 2, or PE of 4. This does not include ~$18M in additional income from unrealized gains on investments as interest rates begin to stabilize, which will increase once the Fed pivots.
Insider Activity and Hedge Fund Ownership
Over the past 12 months, insiders have increased their stakes, choosing to hold more of their vested shares vs selling them, and some insiders have made additional purchases in the open market. Leading hedge funds have also acquired sizable stakes, including Jim Simon’s Renaissance Technologies, which employs people even more autistic than myself, and SBF’s former regards over at Jane Street.
Risks
The company generates the lion’s share of its profits from non-US residents through their USD-denominated life insurance policies. They are essentially operating without a license in all of these countries, and there is a non-zero possibility that regulators could prevent them from continuing to sell there. If this happened, there would also be a big increase in policy surrenders, which would be no bueno. They mitigate much of that risk by off-loading it onto third-party contractors who do all of the selling on the ground, but who largely operate without supervision.
By also operating outside of the U.S., in particular in countries such as Venezuela and Colombia, they increase their potential opportunity to run afoul of anti-money laundering AML penalties and sanctions, which are no joke. The company claims they abide by best practices and have sufficient controls, and they are heavily regulated both in the U.S. and by their regulator in Puerto Rico. It is difficult to quantify this risk, but they seem to be doing enough based on my experience in the banking sector.
Interest rates have been largely to blame for the poor performance of the company’s stock over the past 2 years. As the Fed raised interest rates from 0% to 5.5%, they incurred a significant unrealized loss on their fixed maturity securities. This also raised the benchmark returns required on their insurance products, however it appears the main value proposition is still the inflation shield provided by being USD-denominated. The Fed has also signaled a shift in monetary policy and will likely cut rates this year, which should provide significant tailwinds for the company.
Not to mention… it’s the most heavily shorted stock in the world right now
If you’ve read this far, congratulations, because this is where it gets really interesting.
Currently 3.9M (8%) of shares are sold short.
The average daily volume is 55,000
That means the Days to Cover is over 70.
But wait… there’s more
Remember how I said that it’s estimated 70% of the float is held by non-US residents? Well, with another ~18% owned by institutions/insiders, this means that only ~4.8M shares are actually liquid.
There are simply not enough shares available for shorts to close out their positions without a massive increase in the price. I don’t invest in something based solely on this, but it’s hard to ignore the squeeze potential here.
Shareholders deserve better
After pouring through this company, I came to realize that, aside from the financials, this is also very much a story of Wall Street vs. Main Street. On its surface, the financial products this company sells seem predatory, but they do provide an important shield from persistent inflation and economic insecurity in these countries. And the fact that many of them elect to receive their distributions in the form of stock, means that they are being hurt by the persistent shorting going on, which, in my opinion, has caused a dislocation from the intrinsic value of the company.
On one side, you have big market makers shorting the stock to 0, and on the other side you have over 84,000 largely poor, non-US based shareholders.
I’m not here to take sides, I just like the stock.
Disclosure: I am currently long both stock and options. Please do your own research before making any investment decisions.

2024.05.13 20:57 icame4thedownvotes Recycling?
Any updates on the Pensacola recycling trainwreck? I live in Pensacola proper, had my bins removed whenever they did that, and then somehow I allowed the city to saddle me with a self-service that I pay somebody else to do. So do we all just sit around like assholes and just take it? Your bins were removed, but your recycling fee was never reduced. Sure the city is telling you there are dropoff points, but that wasn't the agreement, thats not the service we're paying for. So today I quit recycling, a corner of my yard has become a holding site for the city, and they can just about fuck off with that, Im not using my property to make the cities responsibilities less anymore. Im also tired of corporations spewing garbage into the environment and then blaming me for not doing my part, Im fucking done. So here I am with a partial rant, but also really wanting to hold the city accountable. Do the rest of you all give a shit you're being charged for a service that is no longer being provided? Is anybody doing something about it, do we want to do something about it?

2024.05.13 20:39 swinchell92 How does your club handle Nationals expenses?
My son is in a small club (~80 high school athletes) that strives to be a Nationally competitive club. Over the years, we've repeatedly had a boat or two at Nationals. I am wondering how other clubs handle the expenses, because for us, we have to wait until the regional qualifiers to know if we're going, and at that point, it's 2 weeks to book flights and hotels in Florida. Not ideal.
Additionally, our club has parents provide for the costs of boat transportation, athlete transportation and hotel, head coach's transportation and hotel, head coach's per diem, along with entry fees and US Rowing membership bump. The club provides nothing but the boats in our yard. It seems counterproductive to wash your hands from the costs of Nationals, when you trumpet your Nationals success as a bragging point of the club.
How do other clubs handle this?

2024.05.13 20:26 AdQueasy4367 Mastering E-Commerce: How to Choose the Right Dropshipping Network
In the dynamic world of e-commerce, dropshipping has emerged as a popular business model due to its low entry barriers and minimal upfront investment. Entrepreneurs can sell products directly to customers without holding any inventory, with suppliers handling storage, packaging, and shipping. However, the success of a dropshipping business hinges significantly on choosing the right dropshipping network. For more info you can visit
Stelvel EOOD company website. Here's how you can make an informed decision to partner with the best dropshipping network for your business needs.
Understand What a Dropshipping Network Offers
A dropshipping network connects sellers with suppliers who dropship products. These networks can simplify the process of finding and partnering with reliable suppliers, and often provide a platform that facilitates product selection, order processing, and inventory management. Understanding the features and services of different networks is crucial as it directly impacts your business operations.
1. Evaluate the Product Range
Your choice of network should align with the type of products you want to sell. Look for networks that offer a wide range of products that fit your niche and target market. The quality of products available is also paramount, as it affects customer satisfaction and return rates. It’s beneficial to choose a network that provides detailed product descriptions and high-quality images.
2. Consider Supplier Quality and Reliability
The reliability of suppliers within the network is crucial. A good dropshipping network will only partner with suppliers who have a track record of fulfilling orders accurately and on time. Check the network’s vetting process for suppliers and read reviews from other users about their experiences. You might also want to test the suppliers by ordering a few products yourself to check for delivery times, product quality, and packaging.
3. Look at Technological Integration
A network’s technology should seamlessly integrate with your e-commerce platform. This includes real-time inventory updates, automated order processing, and tracking information. Effective integration reduces the chances of selling products that are out of stock and enhances customer service by providing timely updates.
4. Assess Costs and Membership Fees
Most dropshipping networks charge a fee, which can be a flat monthly rate, a percentage of sales, or per-order fees. Understand all costs involved and analyze how they fit into your budget and pricing strategy. Consider networks that offer different levels of membership depending on your sales volume and business needs, as this can provide more flexibility and scalability.
5. Check for Scalability
As your business grows, your needs will change. The dropshipping network should be able to scale with your business, offering more products, additional suppliers, or enhanced services as your order volume increases. Networks that can scale easily will support your growth without requiring frequent changes in partners.
6. Review Marketing Support
Some dropshipping networks provide marketing tools and support, which can be invaluable for driving sales. This might include customizable product data for creating attractive listings, promotional materials, and SEO advice. A network that supports your marketing efforts can significantly enhance your business’s visibility and sales potential.
7. Analyze Customer Service and Support
Good customer service from the network is essential, especially when issues arise. You’ll want a network that offers timely and helpful support. Check the availability and responsiveness of their customer service team. Being able to rely on quick support can make a significant difference in managing the day-to-day operations of your business.
8. Read Reviews and Gather Feedback
Lastly, research the network extensively. Read reviews, join forums, and talk to other entrepreneurs who use the network. Their experiences can provide insights into the reliability and effectiveness of the network and highlight potential problems you might encounter.
Conclusion
Choosing the right dropshipping network is a critical decision that can determine the trajectory of your e-commerce business. By thoroughly researching and comparing the offerings of different networks, you can find a partner that not only meets your current needs but also supports your business as it evolves and grows. With the right network, dropshipping can be a highly profitable and rewarding venture.

2024.05.13 20:22 AdQueasy4367 Steering Through Choices: Selecting the Right Brokerage Services Company for Cargo Transportation
In the complex world of cargo transportation, businesses rely on brokerage services to navigate the logistical challenges of shipping goods efficiently and economically. A brokerage services company acts as an intermediary between shippers and carriers, playing a crucial role in managing the movement of freight across global networks. Choosing the right partner such as
Sargona Private Capital in Greece in this sector is essential for ensuring timely deliveries, reducing costs, and maintaining the integrity of shipments. Here’s how to select the right brokerage services company for your cargo transportation needs.
1. Assess Industry Expertise and Market Knowledge
The first criterion should always be industry expertise. A competent brokerage firm should not only understand the fundamentals of freight brokerage but also possess deep insights into your specific market sector, whether it's perishables, automotive parts, or consumer goods. Their expertise can prove invaluable in navigating regulatory requirements, handling customs, and managing specialized freight needs.
2. Verify Licensing and Credentials
In the cargo transportation industry, it’s critical that a brokerage firm is properly licensed and compliant with industry regulations. In the United States, this means checking that the broker has a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) license. Additionally, verify memberships in relevant industry associations like the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) which can indicate a commitment to best practices and ethical standards.
3. Evaluate Network and Carrier Relationships
The effectiveness of a brokerage firm is largely determined by the strength and breadth of its carrier network. A robust network means more options and backup plans for your shipments. Investigate the firm’s selection criteria for carriers, how they maintain relationships, and their ability to handle different volumes of cargo. A more extensive network often translates to better rates and more flexibility in meeting your shipping needs.
4. Consider Technology and Tools
Technology plays a pivotal role in modern freight brokerage. Effective firms utilize advanced Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to track shipments in real-time, manage routes and carriers, and optimize logistics. The ability to provide real-time data and visibility into the shipping process is crucial for scheduling and managing your supply chain efficiently.
5. Check Financial Stability
The financial health of a brokerage service is crucial, especially when it comes to handling your freight needs during economically turbulent times. Stability often means that the brokerage can maintain consistent service levels, manage payments to carriers promptly, and invest in technology and staff training.
6. Analyze Service Flexibility and Scalability
Every business’s needs are unique and can change over time. A good brokerage service should offer flexibility in handling different types of cargo and scalability to adjust to your business’s growing or shifting needs. This includes having the capability to manage peak seasons, varying shipment sizes, and emergency situations without hiccups.
7. Scrutinize Customer Service and Support
High-quality customer service is essential. Problems such as delays, lost cargo, or documentation errors need to be resolved swiftly and effectively. Evaluate the brokerage’s communication processes, availability for queries and support, and their problem-solving approach. Responsive and proactive customer service can differentiate an excellent brokerage service from an average one.
8. Review Pricing and Fee Structures
Transparent and competitive pricing is fundamental. Request detailed quotes and understand the fee structures thoroughly—this includes identifying any hidden costs or potential additional charges that might arise. It's not always about choosing the lowest bidder but finding the best value that combines reasonable costs with reliable service.
9. Read Reviews and Seek Referrals
Lastly, leverage the experiences of others. Read online reviews, case studies, and testimonials to gauge the brokerage’s reputation. Additionally, seek referrals from within your network. Personal recommendations can provide honest insights and help you gauge the firm’s effectiveness and reliability in real-world operations.
Conclusion
Selecting the right brokerage services company for cargo transportation is critical to the success of your logistical operations. A strategic approach to choosing a broker can lead to improved operational efficiency, cost savings, and enhanced service delivery, ultimately providing a competitive edge in the fast-paced world of commerce.

2024.05.13 20:13 hankbruce01 A Guide to Navigating Backhoe Loader Prices in UAE: 5 Essential Tips
| https://preview.redd.it/em9c26jzi80d1.png?width=2500&format=png&auto=webp&s=10eda6f22d1bf3c5677d7045fd3e2c0f3c30df07 In the bustling construction industry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), choosing the right backhoe loader is pivotal for project success. However, with the market inundated with options, navigating backhoe loader prices can be daunting. To aid in your decision-making process, here are five essential tips for comparing backhoe loader prices in the UAE. Research Extensively: Before delving into comparisons, arm yourself with comprehensive research. Understand the different types and models of backhoe loaders available in the UAE market. Each model comes with varying features, capabilities, and price points. Familiarize yourself with the specifications that align with your project requirements to make informed comparisons. Consider Total Cost of Ownership: Beyond the initial purchase price, factor in the total cost of ownership. This includes maintenance, repair, and operating costs over the lifespan of the backhoe loader. While a lower upfront price might seem appealing, a higher-quality machine with lower operating costs could prove more cost-effective in the long run. Evaluate Dealer Reputation: Choose a reputable dealer with a track record of reliability and customer satisfaction. Research customer reviews and testimonials to gauge the dealer's reputation for after-sales service and support. A trusted dealer can provide valuable insights and assistance in selecting the right backhoe loader at a competitive price. Compare Financing Options: Explore financing options offered by various dealers or financial institutions. Compare interest rates, repayment terms, and additional fees to determine the most favourable financing package. A well-structured financing plan can significantly impact the overall affordability of the backhoe loader. Throughout the comparison process, keep the keyword "Backhoe Loader Price" in mind to stay focused on your objective. By following these tips, you can effectively navigate the complexities of backhoe loader prices in the UAE and make a well-informed purchasing decision. In conclusion, when considering backhoe loader prices in the UAE, one prominent name to remember is Al-Bahar. As a leading provider of construction equipment in the region, Al-Bahar offers a wide range of backhoe loaders tailored to meet diverse project requirements. 2024.05.13 20:07 Aptitude8 Netsuite & Hubspot: A guide to integrating and actioning ERP data in HubSpot
Netsuite is the #1 integration (other than Salesforce, of course) that I get asked about, so I decided to put together a comprehensive guide, including a info-packed 11-minute video, which you can
watch here.
Integrating NetSuite with HubSpot is a powerful strategy for bridging the gap between Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. This integration facilitates enhanced efficiency and provides deeper insights across various organizational functions.
Integration Options
HubSpot's Data Sync connector for Netsuite 1. Custom API Integration - Pros: Highly customizable; allows specific data fields and workflows integration.
- Cons: Requires significant development effort and ongoing maintenance.
2. Third-Party Integration Platforms - Examples: Celigo, Make, Boomi, Workato.
- Pros: User-friendly interfaces and easier setup.
- Cons: Less flexible and costs may vary depending on data volume and workflow complexity.
3. NetSuite SuiteApps - Example: HubSpot Connector for NetSuite.
- Pros: Deep integration and compatibility; straightforward installation.
- Cons: May not cover all custom requirements and depends on third-party updates.
4. HubSpot Data Sync - Pros: Easy to install with out-of-the-box capabilities; supported by HubSpot for updates.
- Cons: Limited customization options.
Considerations for Choosing an Integration Option
- Complexity of Needs: The more complex your integration needs, the more likely a custom integration or a robust iPaaS solution will be necessary.
- Resource Availability: Consider your available technical resources and expertise. A custom API integration will require skilled developers, while iPaaS solutions are more accessible to non-technical users.
- Budget: Custom integrations can be costly both in development and maintenance, while third-party platforms and connectors may have recurring subscription fees.
- Scalability: Ensure the chosen solution can scale with your business needs, handling increased data volume and additional integration points over time.
- Data Synchronization Requirements: Consider the frequency and volume of data synchronization needed. Real-time data sync may be crucial for some businesses, while others may suffice with periodic updates.
GTM Use Cases
Subscription Renewal Workflow Marketing - Customer Segmentation: Utilize purchase history from NetSuite to target marketing efforts in HubSpot.
- Win-Back Campaigns: Use subscription and cancellation data to re-engage customers.
- Inventory-Based Promotions: Leverage real-time inventory data to manage promotions and upselling.
Sales - Realized Revenue Reporting: Focus on actual revenue in HubSpot for accurate commission tracking.
- Real-Time Inventory and Pricing: Provide sales teams with up-to-date product information to enhance customer interactions.
- CPQ Integration: Streamline quoting by integrating NetSuite’s CPQ capabilities within HubSpot.
Customer Success - Service History Integration: Offer comprehensive support by accessing detailed customer service histories.
- Subscription Renewal Automation: Automate renewal communications based on subscription data.
- Account Health Alerts: Setup alerts for late payments to proactively engage customers and reduce churn.
Conclusion
Integrating NetSuite with HubSpot not only streamlines operations but also amplifies the effectiveness of marketing, sales, and customer service efforts. This unified approach leads to better customer insights, more efficient operations, and ultimately, accelerated organizational growth.

2024.05.13 19:44 PetieG26 Weird wrong address conundrum
*all addresses are not real but I can tell you it IS happening. So, we live at 48 Trundle Road, anytown, XX. Google/Apple/Mapquest are all ok locating our address and providing directions to it BUT all these online delivery services like Uber Eats,
Slice.com all have issues with it resorting to 48 Trindle Road (NOT Trundle), in the same town. Our order has the correct address, their receipt has the correct address but when they get directions to 48 Trundle Road they get directed to 48 Trindle Road (~4 miles away) - so they cancel the order and we're left w/out dinner. My SO just looked up a dentist in the area and her search pre-populated with 48 Trindle Road... Who/what/where can we contact to look at this?
It's happened with TotalWine, GrubHub and several other vendors -- but I can't seem to reproduce it... Shit I even pin-corrected the address for
Slice.com dropping the pin on our house and delivery driver still went to 48 Trindle Road...
NOTE: We do not have any problems using maps to/from our address at all.
Anybody have any inkling of where we can go to have this looked into?

2024.05.13 19:33 Several_Bag_1770 Am I doing enough?
Hi all! I think I am just looking for mostly reassurance at this point regarding taking care of my grandma. Here is my situation (buckle up, this is a long one):
I was estranged from my biological father and his family from my teen years until about 2 years ago. Long story short, my parents got divorced when I was 2, my mom moved me out of state when she married my stepfather and I spent every summer in childhood visiting my father's family. For context, I am the only child of my father (my mom had other children from a later marriage, my half siblings, my father never had any more kids). Around my teen years, those visits stopped and I just kept in contact with my biological grandmother on my dad's side through the occasional letters over the years. I have a lot of resentment toward my parents for their poor decision making and how it's affected so much of how I act in my relationships as an adult. I have sought out therapy and am doing my best to recover.
In May of 2022, I received a phone call from my paternal grandma (who was 97 at the time), which was so unusual and very nerve-wracking because she never called me, we only communicated through letters. She told me that my father was very sick but couldn't give me many details. She was very hard of hearing and knew nothing about his illness except that it was a "blood disease." My father had been divorced 3 times and after the 3rd one, he moved in with my grandma and they were great friends. I think it was a good arrangement for them both. After that phone call, I did a lot of thinking and soul searching and decided that I should visit my father.
My husband (who never met this side of my family) visited my father and grandma later that month. I was shocked at their condition. My father never got up from his chair and looked so frail and sick. My grandma was actually in better health than him despite her age, but she still obviously couldn't care for him in his sickness. She could barely get up from her chair and was very unsteady walking around. I tried to get details from my father about his health but he was confused and unable to tell me anything concrete. But he did tell me that hospice was coming to see him the next day. So we came back the next day to be there when the hospice intake nurse came. He was even more confused the next day, couldn't spell his middle name or answer questions clearly. I did my best to answer questions (even though I barely knew him since we had been estranged for so long) and provided my phone number as a contact for them. It was all incredibly overwhelming. That meeting ended with my father wanting a little more time to think about it before being officially admitted to hospice. My husband and I went back home and I was overwhelmed about everything.
A few days later, I got a phone call from hospice. My father had reached a point where he was incontinent and belligerent and my grandma called the phone number on the card the hospice worker had left from her visit because she was desperate for help. I was suddenly thrust into a situation of trying to make decisions for a man I barely knew states away. It was obvious my 97 year old grandmother could no longer care for him at home, so he was taken to the hospital. I was able to talk with his doctor over the phone who told me that he had leukemia. The treatment he had been receiving was not working and he estimated that my father had 6 weeks to live. He would be admitted to an inpatient hospice facility until he died. I barely was able to process that because there was another huge issue: who is going to look after my grandma after he dies?
(A little more family background here: my father has an older brother who lives out of state. The two brothers never got along and from what I hear, my uncle had the tendency to rub people the wrong way. My uncle only communicated with his mother - my grandma - through the occasional birthday and Christmas card. That uncle has 2 kids, my cousins, who live in the same state as my uncle. The older cousin calls my grandma once in a while. My grandma has distant relatives who live about 45 minutes away and visit very occasionally.)
My husband and I talked a lot and I decided that I needed to go and stay with my grandma while my dad was in hospice. I was able to work remotely and so was my husband, so we made the drive back to my grandma's house and stayed with her, taking her to visit my dad every day, cooking, cleaning, etc.
My dad died on May 31, 2022, only about a week after he was admitted to hospice. I handled all the logistics and planning of the funeral. My grandma, who was totally competent mentally, was stone cold deaf and emotionally unable to handle any of it, so I was left to do everything, despite barely knowing him and not really having the chance to process my own very complicated grief at losing an estranged parent. Fortunately he had the wisdom to take out a life insurance policy years before with me as the beneficiary and I was able to pay for the funeral with that money.
And instead of his death being the end of something, it was the beginning of the most stressful time in my adult life. I spent day and night looking into care options for my grandma. We finally got her some hearing aides (something my father never thought to do for her I guess) and I spent hours on the internet, researching what is covered by Medicare, if she was eligible for Medicaid, etc. I called her state's agency for aging, multiple home health aide companies, the works. We had to go back to our home state to resume our lives, and all the while, my mental energy was spent on worrying about her and running through every option for care over and over again.
And here we are, TWO YEARS LATER. My grandma is now 99 years old at the end of this month. In May of last year, my husband very unexpectedly and heartbreakingly lost his job of 12 years. After that happened, we decided it was time to pick up our lives and move in with our grandma. While we were living in our state and she alone in hers after my dad died, I called her pretty much every day to check on her. I was constantly anxious and on edge. We visited her as much as we could but it is a long drive and we couldn't always put our lives on hold to visit her.
We moved in in December. And it has absolutely been one of the hardest times of my life. My husband and I are in dire straits financially (he is still struggling to find consistent work and my work is seasonal, we're just getting into my busy season but honestly, I don't make a lot of money). My grandma can still barely hear with her hearing aides in so I always have to raise my voice to talk to her and repeat myself multiple times. I spend hours of my time taking her to doctor's appointments (which is not an easy feat because she is wheelchair bound outside of the home), on the phone with doctors, picking up medicine, etc. I feel constant pressure to make sure she cared for. Overall she is a pleasant person but she is also a master of Italian Catholic guilt and passive aggressiveness. There is no one else to help us. I feel like I am slowly dying inside little by little every day.
So if you've made it this far, here is where I am looking for reassurance. We have to go back to our home state multiple times this summer for family obligations and my work (I am a wedding photographer and contracted to photograph weddings this summer back home). For example, at the end of May, we have to be gone for over 2 weeks to go to multiple graduations of nieces and nephews, open houses, etc. And I feel extremely guilty for leaving.
Here is more about my grandma and her current status for context:
- She is perfectly coherent mentally. Totally capable of taking her own medicine (which is not too much considering her age).
- She has a shower aide come once a week to help her in the shower. She has a walk in shower with a chair and extendable shower head. She also had handles on the toilet we recently installed. She dresses herself every day.
- She is unsteady on her feet but relies on her walker in the house. She is good about using it and doesn't go without it.
- She still cooks a little, uses the stove to boil vegetables, etc. Uses the microwave for her instant coffee, soups and TV dinners. I cook dinners regularly and she will often eat what I make.
- She has Medicare and supplemental insurance. She is not eligible for Medicaid. She owns her house outright and has about $60,000 in savings. She is unwilling to pay for private home health aides to come in our absence and unfortunately, my husband and I cannot afford them.
- She was on hospice care after my dad died. Her PCP knew the situation, that she would be alone, so she referred to us to hospice so she would at least have a nurse check on her once a week. It was extremely hard to get her admitted and she was able to stay on their service up until a few weeks ago, when they booted her because she is not deteriorating. I understand that hospice is for end of life care and just because someone is 99 it doesn't mean they automatically qualify. But it's a little scary losing that safety net.
- I tried to enroll her in VA benefits because her husband was a veteran. They denied her because she makes too much in social security every month.
- She hates being alone and has brought up multiple times how worried she is to be alone while we're gone.
Here are the things we have set in place to help care for her in our absence:
- We have one camera set up in the living room where she spends most of her time. Only my husband and I can access the camera remotely via our phones when needed to check on her. I am going to talk to her about installing 2 more, one in the kitchen and one in her bedroom.
- She has a Life Alert that she wears around her neck. She very good about wearing it all the time.
- Her shower aide will be here once a week.
- She has 2 neighbors who are great about checking in on her when needed. They both have keys to the house. I also have a group text of a handful of people in the area she is friends with who have keys to the house and can come over in an emergency. I am going to text everyone to let them know the dates we will be gone and ask them to call and check on her regularly.
So my question is this: is this enough? Can I leave her and not feel guilty? I've spent countless hours and tears struggling with this question.
(Thank you to all of you who read all this and my prayers are with you on your own caregiving journeys!)
