Two years ago, Corey Vash got abducted by aliens, and a few months after that, he saved the universe -even if it was mostly on accident. Thanks to the skills of his new bounty hunter friends and no small amount of luck, Corey Vash saved the day, but hero status isn’t all its cracked up to be. The parades and the free drinks are over, leaving the bounty hunters with nothing but the expectations of a frightened universe and the overbearing attention of governments who want picture perfect heroes the only mostly sober crew aren’t cut out to be. With the shadow of another invasion still looming, a murderous new threat starts to stalk their every move, forcing Corey and the crew of the Wild Card Wanderer to move past the mess of bullets, booze, and blind luck that’s kept them alive and become actual heroes -even if they aren’t very good at it.

Though Kamak did not accept the “job” to attend the new military installation’s unveiling, he still kept an eye on it. The Wild Card Wanderer had taken to the stars, orbiting Centerpoint at a distance, to watch the installation far away from any pomp and ceremony. The massive gun battery drifted into place and was joined to the rest of Centerpoint’s honeycombed platforms, fusing the weapons to the neighboring residential and business districts. The platform full of short-range cluster armaments was an effective deterrent to any Horuk attacks, and a blighted eyesore on the otherwise sleek, modern space station.
Kamak scowled. Centerpoint had been designed as the shining beacon for universal society, the best of everything cooperation could accomplish. Now they’d strapped a gun to it. There had always been outlying defensive stations and security fleets, but seeing a cluster of guns the size of a small city right next to the arts district felt different. It felt wrong.
“I don’t like any of this,” Kamak said. “Smells like they’re up to something.”
Kamak had, naturally, gotten his crew up to speed on everything Ghost had said, to predictably mixed reactions.
“Luckily for us, I think their intent is fairly transparent,” Farsus said. “They see more value in us as propaganda than as bounty hunters.”
“It’s never that simple,” Corey sighed.
“No offense, Corvash, but you’re a little paranoid to begin with,” Tooley said. “And the whole Morrakesh thing probably didn’t help.”
Corey owned a laser sword now, and he still carried a knife in his boot everywhere he went. He’d also insisted on installing an upgraded security system in the Wild Card Wanderer, and, thanks to the fact that Tooley now slept next to him regularly, she knew he was an incredibly light sleeper, frequently waking with a start at even the smallest noise.
“How is some secret Ghost assassin guy showing up to threaten us not something to be worried about?”
“I just think Farsus has a point,” Tooley said. “Now that we’re bigshot heroes they want us retired so we can’t fuck up and get ourselves killed or embarrass ourselves.”
“I’d think you’d be more offended by that,” Corey said.
“I am very offended, but they’re also giving me lots of money,” Tooley said. As boring as the rich people gigs were, they paid well. “It’s creating some very conflicting emotions.”
Tooley had an ego the size of a galaxy, but a love of money that was just as big if not bigger. She had already paid off the sizable cost of the Wild Card Wanderer, and was stocking up savings for the future, and maybe even a new, better ship.
“God, I know,” Kamak said. The money was making it very hard to be as mad as he wanted to be. Having been on the bad side of a conspiracy to make the entire universe hate him, he found it hard to be mad about a conspiracy to keep him famous and successful. “I’d almost rather they were being assholes about it. It’d make it a lot easier to be mad.”
“We keep being stubborn about it, we’ll probably get them there,” Corey said.
“Well I’m real good at being stubborn,” Kamak said. “So I guess we’ll find out.”
“Do we have to?”
All eyes went to Doprel. His massive frame looked hollow and deflated.
“What’s the point?” Doprel asked. “What’s the endgame? Where’s our win condition? Even as a matter of pride, like, to prove we’re not fuckups, isn’t saving the universe enough for that?”
Kamak nodded. That was a pretty big boost to the ego.
“Maybe it is a good idea for us to quit while we’re ahead,” Doprel said. “Even just logistically speaking, it’s going to be fucking hard to top stopping the Invasion, guys.”
“Yeah, well, that’s an easier choice for you guys to make than me,” Kamak said. “Rest of you fuckers are going to be dead in a few decades. I still got the better part of three centuries in me, at least.”
Kamak leaned back in his seat and watched the guns on Centerpoint spring to life, scanning the stars for any sign of an incoming threat. For a moment, one of the colossal guns turned their direction, and Kamak stared right down the barrel. Corey watched the guns turn as they all drifted through empty space.
“Do you guys want to take a vacation?”
“Vacation? Now?”
“Yeah,” Corey said. “We haven’t really taken a breather since we stopped the Invasion. I think maybe we all need to take some time to relax and unpack.”
“I don’t know. Feels like we’d be giving these assholes a taste of what they want.”
“Let them think that,” Corey said. “Let’s take a break. Not think about work for a while, and see how we feel about retiring or not retiring in a week or two.”
“You want to take some time off, I won’t stop you,” Kamak said. “Take your vacation, if you want.”
“If he’s going, I’m going,” Tooley said.
“Ah, of course you are,” Kamak said. “I try to forget you two are shacked up.”
“You can always pay for shuttles,” Tooley said. “I’m not the only pilot in the universe. Even if I am the best.”
“Not ditching me that easily,” Kamak said. “Fine. You kids pick somewhere to go and take your fucking vacation. I’ll get dragged along.”

Intro

The missions of this year's contest are "Landing" and "Recovery and Return."
Landing. If Robot1 sends Robot2 flying and lands in Area C, you will score points. The landing spot with the highest score is 5 meters away from Area A.
Recovery and Return. Collect the ball and deliver it to Robot1, then take the box and return to Area B. Robot 2 can return by itself, or it can collaborate and cooperate with Robot 1.
The contest time is 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Size Robots must meet the following size restrictions.
Robot1: 1200mm x 1200mm x 1000mm height throughout the competition. This is the maximum size when all movable parts of the robot are expanded.
Robot2: There is no size limit. At the start, all robots must be completely within the starting zone, which is 1500mm x 1500mm. Robot 2 may be placed on top of Robot 1, but the height from the field surface must not exceed 1500mm.
The weight of all robots shall be within 30 kg. (Battery and air tank are included in the weight)
Robot 2 shall satisfy one of the following conditions.
Has the function of collecting and holding the ball or box.
Has the ability to directly deliver the ball to Area A by throwing or kicking it.
Has the ability to deliver boxes to Area A directly.
Power Supply Limitations
Voltage: Both drive and control system circuits must be 24V or less. Internal circuit voltages should not exceed 24V, except for transient voltages.
Current: Each circuit must have a current interrupting device (fuse, breaker, etc.) of 30A or less. For multiple drive system circuits, the total current interrupting capacity must not exceed 30A per robot. Control system circuit current is not included in this total. Ensure the current interrupting devices match the ratings of the entire circuit, considering wiring and breaker specifications.
Dangerous energy sources such as power sources other than electricity, such as high-pressure gas or explosives, must not be used.
Compressed air tank must be removable, with an air meter below 0.75 MPa at room temperature. Plastic bottles and homemade tanks are prohibited.

So, the original intent behind this post was to create a lot of puns about Order and Sunday (for example something like Golden Order Radagon Sunday, “I will have order” with Sunday and a falling train instead, Sunday working in a delivery and saying that someone’s order was cancelled).
But then I started remembering all parts of Penacony storyline that have fascinated me. And one particular part master stroked me. When Sunday used his “tell the truth or die in 24 hours voice magic” he used not the power of Order, but Harmony – the Path he supposedly deliberately left behind and betrayed.
How can I be so sure, that he didn’t use the power of Order, making it look like the power of Harmony? Well, nor Dr. Ratio, nor Aventurine, nor Welt, nor (most importantly) Robin didn’t notice any sign that the Order was used and that the power on display did in fact belong to Harmony. And mind you, all of them are quite clever, experienced and hard to deceive. And in Aventurine’s conversation with Acheron in the Horizon of existence, Acheron (who as Self-Annihilator isn’t affected by the illusions of Order and can see through them) referred to the brand, used on Aventurine as the “brand of Harmony”. And the last proof is that when Sunday uses this power, he makes a call (or if you are a pun enjoyer like me, “an order”) to Xipe, referring to THEM as “Triple-faced soul”.
So, this was a really long and a roundabout way to prove that even with his supposed devotion to Order, Sunday still remains the Pathstrider of Harmony (and the laws of the HSR universe dictate, that you become a Pathstrider by following a philosophy of a particular Path). While being a Pathstrider of two Paths is not called impossible in the game, and Harmony and Order mostly overlap, there are some key differences between them. It means, that Sunday to some extant still believes in a philosophy of Harmony and is not a complete devotee of Order, how some people could have believed.
So, the goal of this post is to delve on the philosophy of Ena and Harmony through Sunday’s story, words, thoughts and actions. And to make some obnoxious theories, but that’s later.
So, let’s begin!

In his childhood, Sunday alongside Robin, was called by the Dreammaster “two best interpreters of the Great One”. That means, that as a child, Sunday was extremely close to the philosophy of Harmony.
Let’s remember what Harmony embodies as a philosophy:
“Then, they say, O you who have reached the end, enter into the paradise that envelops all! Join this great choir and feast, listen to the beating of billions upon billions of hearts, holding you in THEIR embrace...”
“To battle the brutality of the laws of the universe, intelligent lifeforms must discard their cowardly selfishness and the differences between individuals, fusing into one singular melody — to have the strong help the weak, and to protect life with death.”
That is what Harmony preaches and Sunday was a follower of this ideology. Harmony preaches selfless people not only helping and uplifting each other to build “the paradise” (a prominent theme in Sunday’s thoughts) bit also welcoming every other willing person. Harmony philosophy is about acceptance, forgiveness, cooperation, that no person is beyond redemption, that in every person has inside of them the force that genuinely cares for others and strives for good. Harmony preaches something like this: “Because if it is possible for every person to become a member of Family’s shared paradise, then we should at lest try to welcome them in it.” That’s why Harmonic Strings (Emanators of Xipe) are not people and are actually manifestations materialized as the responses to the Hive Mind’s demands. It is a seemingly naïve and romantic ideal for the sometimes and indifferent brutal universe of HSR that requires great kindness, compassion, understanding, belief in other people, ability to see the better in other people and uplift them. And Sunday-follower of Order reflects on that:
"When I appeared as a child, my speech, mindset, and soul reflected immaturity and innocence."
"As I grew into adulthood, I left behind my childlike side."
Sunday (as shown in the quest) was a person of great understanding, compassion, and love for other living beings, full of desire to protect them (bird, Robin, other people). He was able to embrace even the worst people if they would show even the slightest glimpse of desire to redeem themselves and change for the better, like people who allegedly sold their own children. It is notable that he both acts as a follower of Harmony and an enforcer of Order conspiracy because of these very character traits. The motivation is the same, just the choice how to act based on this motivation is different between him and Robin because of different experiences.
As the ardent believer of Harmony, the seed of doubt in his mind was planted ironically by the very followers of the Harmony -the Family. And the disillusionment about Harmony also began, when his belief in other people was tested. When asking Xipe to clear his doubts, Sunday asks three questions:
“Who can judge the strong when their power hides their crimes?”
“Who can vouch for the weak when they will pay any price to survive?”
“If "the strong defending the weak" is truly the foundation of paradise, then who is responsible for the suffering and anguish in this wretched world?”
The questions display that the preached Harmony doesn’t work as intended. The extremely hard ideal to follow was exactly too demanding for numerous people who couldn’t stand up to the responsibility that came with upholding it. Also, as displayed both in the main quest of Penacony and in numerous events and side quests, flaws and imperfections of Family(note: of the Family on Penacony) are numerous. We have an entire “Ode to Fool” in the Grand Theatre about internal bloodthirsty war between the Family, where two of the seven families of Penacony ceased to exist. When even Family: those who preach the Odes of Harmony don’t act as they preach, are not harmonious, don’t show compassion and forgiveness, it is extremely hard to still believe in its teachings. And from that, the belief in people starts to slowly crumble as the very belief in a possibility of a paradise preached by the Xipe, is tested.
That is what turns him to Order. The feeling that while the paradise of Harmony is theoretically possible, how much suffering must people experience before it actually arrives. And when will it arrive? And IF it will arrive? These doubts in human inherent desire to change for the better leads to the idea: “And what if they don’t change? Then why take the risks? Why not to create something that guarantees their safety, happiness and protection?” His desire for Order is still born from his love for humanity.

And while the shift in beliefs did in fact happen, it wasn’t completed and some beliefs in Harmony remain, alongside doubts about the philosophy of Order.
To prove that, let’s remember the Grand Theatre part of the quest (“Everything that Rises Must Converge”).
Before that Dreammaster has a particularly interesting conversation with Sunday. Sunday not only changes their plan, taking Robin’s place in the plan and then he asks Dreammaster why Penacony was the chosen planet to bring “paradise” of the Order. If he was completely convinced, why would he pose these questions?
Sunday several times brings the part of 107,336 souls of the Oak Family in his monologues. Why? Because he uses them to give self-validation to his beliefs. It comes not only from his desire to grant “paradise” to everyone (and this guys as stated dreamed about the paradise of Order), but also from his self-perceived responsibility as the Head of the Oak Family to stand up to wishes and desires of his subordinates, to protect them, and as the man with greatest position among them, to fulfil the hardest task. Because if people he is in charge of follow and support his views, not only it gives him more belief in his set of beliefs(ha), but also gives him even greater responsibility to prove that their faith in him, in Order is not misplaced.
In first two acts he displays before us shortcomings of the Harmony, trying to display himself as the ardent believer of the Order:
In the first act “Ode to Prisoner” he says that the freedom was not really achieved in Penacony’s great Independence War, posing a doubt that the ideal of Harmony even existed in Penacony since the very beginning.
In the second act “Ode to Fool” the theme of not so harmonic Harmony remains. Sunday talks about internal civil war between the Family, that eradicated two of the seven families on Penacony. How “harmonic” it is!
But in the last and most important act “Ode to Order” has a surprisingly different theme, hidden in it.
It is supposedly talking about the future of Penacony, but there is something more if you listen to its content once again:
General: “Without a ruler who would protect the weak and fight back against the tyrants?”
Chansellor: “We must assist each other in protecting the weak, just as we must assist each other in opposing the tyrannical.”
This dialogue argues that the very measures Sunday preaches, are not required for the coexistence and unification are also an option. Case of how differently Order and Harmony solve one problem.
Jester: “Without a ruler, who will make the stars follow their paths, the tides rise and fall, and allow life to grow?”
C: “These things did as they will long before the ruler appeared, just as they will continue to do with rulers gone.”
Where the Order requires an all-mighty divine king, controlling the world (like God-Emperor of Mankind from Warhammer), Harmony simply says that actually such beings are not needed.
Minister: “However, now that we have bid farewell to our ruler. Who shall take their place?”
C: “We no longer require a ruler, for we were originally all rulers who stand above all things.”
Once again, order preaches about the ruler on the top of everything, the one who has all of the rights and makes all of decisions. But harmony doesn’t work that way. Harmony preaches that if every person has equal rights to enter its paradise, then they are essentially equal. Where Order differentiates people and treats them differently according to THEIR criteria, harmony does not as THEY are all-embracing.
The choice of the position of Chansellor as the one giving answers is deliberate. It is another innuendo on differences between Harmony and Order. In Order king takes the power and pushes everyone under his control. Chancellor, as the representation of Harmony in this argument, is a position not a person. He is subject to change, unlike king. Unlike king, Chancellor is chosen among the people, by the people. He serves as one man being the voice of many people, for they have chosen him as a Chancellor because their ideals are the same and thus, they have entrusted him to fulfil their ideals in reality in their stead.
Some people were not satisfied that the arguments were not posed against Sunday by the Astral Express. Well, this entire act serves as a counter to his arguments, showing the point of view of Harmony arguing against the necessity of ideals of Order. Most importantly, they don’t disprove hid arguments completely, but rather pose a possible alternative take on things.
The Clockwork doesn’t work on puppets because they are “satisfied”. But what gives satisfaction: Order or Harmony? In my opinion, Harmony. Remember: in THEIR paradise there is “peace bestowed, sorrows and strife released.”
The “king” in the text obviously refers to Ena the Order, and the last talk from the “Future” in the act is about “final rites” to the king, that there is no need to seek THEIR existence, nor remember THEM. It illustrates the final confusion of Sunday: if Ena didn’t fight back while being consumed, if the philosophy of Harmony prevailed in the confrontation among the Paths, why try to restore the Order?
And after that particular act he chose to reveal to us the finale of Ena’s story. That THEY were banished to oblivion by the united will of the people who defied Order. And THEIR death was praised alongside praises for the appearance of Harmony – the ideal that prevailed on Penacony in the end.
And that is what actually 3 is actually about. Puppets(Members of the Beyond the Sky Choir) ask what they and everyone else should do after the “king(Ena)” disappeared.
They feel no safety and out of their comfort zone when the one that controlled everything about their lives suddenly disappeared. And Chancellor’s answers are the representation of the ideology of Harmony, that you don’t need to be controlled to strive in life, for that there is more to universe and that the “king” is not actually required for betterment of society, that society can harmonize and evolve on their own, that the unity of people can replace the “king”. Ironically, “the Ode to Order” doesn’t glorify Order but rather disproves it from being the one and only universal truth.
In this act Sunday actually reveals, intended or not, that he doesn’t disprove Harmony’s ideal, that he subconsciously feels that it can stand on par with the ideal of Order.
Then, Sunday poses between us three questions, each one has different answers depending on your set of believes: order or Harmony. Notice, that Sunday doesn’t give his own answers to the questions.
“Is darkness equal to daylight?”
This question is very metaphorical. Radiance and light, eradicating darkness and giving protection to those under the light are a repeated theme in the ideology of the Order (“I shall ascend to the heavens, becoming the scorching sun. Bathed in my light, my people shall flourish, while all evil shall be eradicated” / “Those who live in the shadows do not bear the right to tread the illuminated stage.” / “I now permit you to gaze into the sun [hardest line in the game btw]”) But radiance is also a term sometimes used to describe Xipe. The greatest difference lies in the fact that what Order will not tolerate (“darkness”), harmony will be able to co-exist with and eventually embrace. So for Order they are different, but for Harmony not at all.
“Are sinners equal to the righteous?”
Order punishes the unjust and uplifts the righteous. For it, they are not equal. But for Harmony they are, mostly because before Xipe the very concept of sinners doesn’t exist. Harmony is all-embracing, for everyone can change for the better and be redeemed.
It is a discourse in philosophy: first question was about whether are you able to tolerate something that goes against you. While Harmony can, Order cannot (Sunday can as literally shown in the quest so he leans more to Harmony in that part). Second question was about whether people can change for the better and be redeemed. Order doesn’t believe in it, Harmony does.
“If you are born weak, which god should you turn for solace?”
It is another question to choose between philosophies because Sunday struggles to choose himself. If you are weak and you bow before someone(“king”) for the protection then this is a choice befitting Order, but if you choose to cooperate with others, uplift one another and “listen beating of billions of hearts holding you on their embrace” then this is the choice of Harmony.
Notice, that Sunday doesn’t consider us as enemies at all. As he says: “I genuinely wish to avoid a violent clash with my esteemed guests from afar.” When Astral Express team asks Sunday why did he invite us to the duel, he responds: “Because our shared goals give equal weight to the beliefs we strive for.” He regards everything happening more like a debate of two equally valid philosophies. Even in the fight with him (second one) he still invites us to join his chorus of Order. And he says “our final talk is concluded” only when he turns into his Embryo of Philosophy form, when literally everyone who could has risen against him. And then he reveals his true emotions:
“If your ‘paradise’ can save more people, sever my path with your hands”
He knows he is not infallible, that his plan can be wrong, that there is a possibility of making better choices, better decisions. And he asks us to prove, that Harmony after all is a stronger concept then that of Order. And his quote before that really makes everything extremely ironic:
“If we had never experienced solitude, how could we embark on different paths?”
Once again, this solitude refers to the times when he still completely followed Harmony. Yet he was the only person on the entire Penacony because of his great compassion, who actually followed what Xipe preached. Yet, in this he was alone. How can you be in Harmony with anyone, if you are alone. The irony is in the fact, that if Robin didn’t leave Penacony, of if he met another genuine believer, he wouldn’t have turn to Order and he would remain under Xipe. With many similarities of Order and Harmony: the epitome of Order is loneliness, being a sole ruler of everything, the epitome of Harmony is a unity of numerous people.
“And thus, my talk about Sunday has concluded. Next part is about Ena.”

While his monologue about history of Ena can also be interpreted as parts above, it is much more interesting to discuss it when talking about Ena THEMSELVES.
“Let us commence with the dawning of the world… After the Dusk Wars, darkness veiled the sky, and chaos consumed the earth. Ena the Order emerged, destined to restore all existence. That marked the first day.”
The Dusk Wars are one of the most ancient (if not the most) periods of history we know about. Ena emerging at that time, makes THEM one of the oldest Aeons alongside Long, Hooh, Qlipoth and Oroboros.
” THEY gathered nebulae and forged them into picks, thus creating a grand lyre with black and white keys. Strike the white keys, and the sun rose. Strike the black keys moon and the rose. And so the cycle of day and night arose. That marked the second day. “
“THEY transmuted streams of stars into inked nibs, creating symbols to be pronounced and counted. THEY molded stardust into flowing rivers, assigning the righteous upstream and the unjust downstream. Thus, all things were marked and the world learned to discern between good and evil. That marked the third and fourth days. “

Ena, as we know was a control freak, at much bigger scale and extent, then Sunday could have ever hoped to become. We know that «Ena's harmonic songs seems to align within a three-dimensional framework, akin to an emperor maintaining hierarchical order among all creatures» Not only people, but the movement of celestial bodies were under THEIR control. THEY wanted to and almost controlled everything in the known cosmos. So, THEY were the only person responsible for everything. And when THEY were consumed, the manager of everything disappeared and the scales of order and discord lost their balance. That is why Hooh intervened and took THEIR responsibilities.
“THEY imbued world with meaning, perfecting all things in the heavens and earth. Then, THEY rested from the labors of creation. Yet, all beings cried to Ena – ‘Under the banner of the Order, you have defined all things in the Cosmos… but this made us realize that we are but puppets in your hands!’ – Thus, on that day, all beings united and cast the Aeon into the abyss of oblivion. That marked the seventh day. “
And this is the most interesting part. We know that Ena was consumed by Xipe, so why does Sunday refer to THEIR death as an action, made by humans?
As we know, Xipe “hails from multiple harmonious celestial words”, “a plural Aeon” and “THEY are the amalgamation of thousands of entities”. Thus, I pose that Xipe ascension was not a process of accension of a one person who somehow become an Aeon, but rather that several beings in a moment of unity (of “harmony”) were ascending as one. Next bit is purely theoretical:
But who could provide such unity before the existence of Harmony? Only the Beyond the Sky Choir – followers of Ena could understand the true extent of Ena’s control over everything and unify to create a change. Thus, mortals ascended into Aeon, befitting their shared beliefs, and from the Beyond the Sky Choir, Xipe arose with a new symphony of Harmony.

Also, some other interesting bits from 2.2. storyline:
The most overlooked part of 2.2 quest for me is that part before boss battle when Sunday says that he doesn’t intend to either resurrect Ena or become a new Aeon of Order. While the actual possibility of such actions remains “enigmatic, we can now speculate that it could be possible to take control of a masterless Path or revive its master. I speculate that when we finally reach strongest Emanators level of poweallies/etc. the enemies we will be facing before actual Aeons will be unique beings like that: fallen Aeons in the process of resurrection or people in the process of becoming a new Aeon of a Path without one.
Another interesting bit of lore about Ena is that while she was “consumed” by Xipe, her Path still lingers in the cosmos masterless. While it was known about Paths of other fallen Aeons it is interesting that even assimilation by a broader concept Aeon isn’t enough to completely eradicate the Path from the face of the cosmos.
Some other connections that I noticed about Sunday while rewatching 2.2 quest were surprising even for me. Name a planet where the ruler intentionally left their subordinates in ignorance about the truth about the events for the sole reason of protecting them? It’s Belobog with Bronya and Seele (I could talk about similarities and differences of Bronya and Sunday but that would make already long post even longer). And this is why Ena was able to persuade Qlipoth. Because Qlipoth shares with THEM that general theme of protection. Because their Paths partly overlap. Because Preservation is about keeping everything dangerous behind the walls (in this case dangerous information about Cocolia), and everything inside the walls is safe, protected, or you could say “in Order”.

P.S. I feel like in this quest there is still so much more to discuss(and I could write EVEN MORE), but this long wall of text is already too out of character from me as a humble follower of Enigmata.

2024.05.14 06:59 Museic2000 One Light Working One Light Ehhhhhhhhhh?

2002 r53 cooper s with freakin xenons here. Bulb burnt out over the winter so I went ahead and replaced both bulbs. Once in, the one headlight was fine and so was the other but pretty quickly it stopped being chill and the driver side bulb only turned on when toggling the high beams. To be clear, at first if you turned the high beams on then off the low beam would turn on and stay on. Now, after sitting for a bit, it will only turn on with high beams the second you toggle them off the low is off. Fuses seem to be fine. Switched the bulbs, same issue. Switched the ballast (control box thing), same issue. Before resorting to changing the entire light and still having the same issue I am wondering if anyone has had this strange issue before. It's only the driver side bulb. Thx in advance!

Fuse help!
Just bought a 2008 Cooper S and the cigarette lighter is no longer working. Checked fuse F42 and it is not blown. I changed it anyway, and still not working.
I removed and checked all the fuses on the far right column, none were blown.
I am missing fuse F13 - does anyone know what that is for, and if putting a 15a fuse in there may solve it?
Any other wise suggestions that could help me get this working again would be much appreciated!!

Spreading it also dilutes it, of course, but A) Nightworm Venom is torturously painful, the 'fear of the dark' aspect of Shadow turned towards an attack on the mind. Also many, including my friend here, Animaki Dera, directly add Nightmare subaspect to it, and B) while its spread in the spirit is slow, the poison is potent and now, your channels are left with horrific damage throughout your spirit, instead of just where it hit you. Cherry on the cake? C) It also weakens your control over your madra, making it stickier, more viscous. It rubs your spirit raw as you try to Cycle it, and once it gets into your Core? It damages your Bindings and your Sacred Arts get permanently weaker even should you survive the ordeal. Yikes. A beautiful piece of work! It'll be a hilarious surprise to add to someone's wine, eh?”
“The corruption of Hunger madra and Dreadbeasts have served as inspiration for so many young and aspiring Poison artists, despite which no one has ever mixed the two aspects together! I mean, I understand that Hunger is rare, but still! I had hoped that Eternal Silence came from the Abyssal Palace cult but nope. I think it uses some kind of natural Authority. Which is still exciting! I suspect this serpent goddess that Mellovani prayed to is some historical Sage ancestor of theirs, possibly a Sacred Beast, though the snake association might also have simply come from her Path. I haven't seen any Poison and Earth Paths before, so this was still very exciting to encounter despite the sad lack of Hunger! I had already sought out and studied near every known instance of natural Authority occurring alongside Poison aspect, of course! That's just too good to leave for later study. So I already had some experience (and instruments) for studying higher powers. And what I found was so shocking! I suspect the Authority came from the Shield Icon! Twisting the purpose of a power that's meant to protect, how spicy! You see, the petrification effect wasn't total, the people didn't completely turn into stone statues, instead only the top layers of their skin was petrified so they were completely incased in nigh unbreakable stone, buried alive basically. So cool! I'm gonna use this on Gideon, he's been so good to me! But I don't think he's gonna go far in the Sacred Arts. This way, his beauty will be eternally preserved (he's so cute), and he'll always be with me! It's so romantic! Ehehe! I was going to turn Mellovani into a Sacred Instrument, but the wise little fella chose to join me of his own volition. I'll be able to study both the Path and Authority much better with a cooperative subject.”
“Studying Autumn Garden required quite a lot of subjects. To be perfectly honest, that's mostly been my fault, I've forgotten a lot about anatomy. Also, when I'm elbow deep in someone, I tend to get too excited! Vivisections are sooo intimate. Ehehe, forgive a girl her indulgences! I wasn't expecting much from this Path, I would've probably handed over the research to my students but eh, I turned them into subjects instead, ehehe. Kidding! Well, mostly at any rate, I only turned the bad students into subjects, that way they could still be useful! So anyway! Autumn Garden - it's a complex Path, a mixture of four aspects, the maximum number of full aspects that can feasibly be mixed together (the limit increases with subaspects): Poison, Blood, Life and Bone. Bone was a crunchy surprise I wasn't expecting to the otherwise liquidy line-up! A difficult madra type to get, that one. For those who don't know, it's very solid in form, no I don't mean Forged madra, I mean it naturally occurs in a solid state, much like Pure madra or Life madra occur naturally in fluid states. Being solid, it's very difficult to Cycle. Some Sacred Spiders can turn it into a liquid form to slurp it up, along with the actual bones of their meals. That's how most people get it, from Sacred Spider ancestors or Remnants. But no spider characteristics on this clan. This is how they earned my curiosity! But boo, turned out they just use Refining to turn some bonemeal into elixirs to Cycle. Thankfully, their Path offered more entertainment.”
“–the effects were indeed most curious but I didn't pay much attention to those results. Whatever its applications might be in healing, that's not my field of study... or interest. Blegh. It's a rather mundane utilisation of Poison and Blood to create a type of poison that either thins the blood or coagulates it (depending on your preference), though parasitism is a nice touch, Living Techniques are rare with Blood outside of Blood Shadows - both due to the association and because Blood Shadows are so much superior to any other option that can be drawn up. The Life aspect helps target the Lifeline and the Bone aspect does the same for the bones. So Autumn Garden poison devours your body from the inside, and the strongest Autumn Garden poison isn't a poison at all, it's a parasite. Good luck removing it, because it's fused into your body. Worse news? It multiplies fast. You become a garden. Ehehe. The Blood helps the poison spread as well as providing it with nourishment, Bone helps anchor it deep, Life helps with both, coming together in a beautiful synthesis.”

2024.05.12 06:10 Calm_Bad_987 2018 Mini Cooper S, no crank no start after subwoofer installation

Alright Reddit, I really need some help. I just finished up my shift, which was extended by 4 hours due to some unforeseen circumstances. I installed an amp, subwoofer, and Line output converter. In a 2018 Mini Cooper S(John Works) Initially, I was having some issues with the sound coming through the subs. It was way too high pitched. And did not contain any bass. It was in the rear doors. It might have to be due to that speaker? If I am able to get to it, I will switch it to the roofers underneath the seats. But that is not the main issue here. I told the guy to come back tomorrow so I can do some research on why the sound was weird. And when he went to leave, no crank, no start. And obviously I was really confused. Considering the only thing I’ve touched, wiring wise. In the car, was speaker wire, and the power wire. Other than that, the remote was in the converter, and ground was to… well ground. So first thing I do was test the battery again. And it was solid, sitting above 12 volts. I ended up unhooking the power wire and converter. And still nothing. The cars battery seems just fine. No errors on the car. But there is no noise outside of the dash/lights turning on. I went around, checked all the fuses to see if I blew a fuse somehow. Couldn’t find a single one not working. I looked around for so long. Seeing if something came unhooked/broke in the instal. I couldn’t see any factory wiring out of place, around what I’ve done. I’m lost on what is going on. I’m going back in the morning to try and replace the relays behind the glovebox. But I’m out of ideas. If anyone has any helpful thoughts or ideas. I would really appreciate it. I will try my best to answer questions.

The modernization of the series has yielded amazing benefits that make it feel like the definitive Homeworld experience unless you are looking to go back and experience the whole story for yourself. It isn't easy to make a sequel worth a decades-long wait, but Blackbird Interactive has managed to pull off just that.

Homeworld 3 leaves me in the strange position where I want to play more of it, but I’ve basically had my fill of the campaign, I’ve got no interest in PvP, and War Games mode is silly difficult in single player. It’s like having a set of really nice brushes but no canvas, so to speak. I guess this is probably where mods come in - the game is supposed to be launching with built in support and tools on day one. I get that "It’ll be great with mods" doesn’t come across as a ringing endorsement, but to reiterate: Homeworld 3 is a pretty good time in a very good sci-fi setting. I can’t recommend it wholeheartedly, but I’m also hoping it finds enough of an audience that it paves the way for a more experimental sequel or expansion in the future - and if you've been longing for 21 years for a followup to Homeworld 2, I can’t see you being too disappointed.

Unfortunately, the campaign’s story is a huge step down from previous installments. Missions, whether in the campaign or in multiplayer modes, are plagued by innumerable issues related to unit pathing, controls, and commands. It’s a disappointment that was 20 years in the making.

At the end of the day, Homeworld 3 sells a fantasy of being a genius fused into the machinery of a spaceship who has constant vision and perspective on a vast, 3D battlefield. The game depicts this as perfectly as any game can, and turns it into nail-biting, if plodding, gameplay opportunities.

I then replaced the two Bussman 30 amp fuses on the outside box. Same result.
Next, I checked to see if the fan blades were stuck. The spun freely.
Circuit breakers in the panel seem okay.
Is it likely a bad motor? Stumped.

So I wanted to post something for a while, but didn't know where to start or how to write. I came across a post asking about the struggles and wanted to share in there, but eventually it got into something I thought is "post worthy". After an edit this still became a lot if text, so there's your warning before you start reading.
I'm just writing this to get a grasp of what is going on and what has happened to me in the past.
Im a 39y old guy and got diagnosed just a couple of weeks ago. The things that got me passed where that I'm personally struggling with the "executive dysfunction" part.
The regular autism stuff are the following:
Probably forgot a couple of stuff, but this all made me very insecure and knowing it is very wrong to get so angry it changed into getting emotional shutdowns, during that I cannot speak anymore and start to shiver and cry.
This all started to come up after being in therapy 6 months ago because I needed to work on my anger issues. Got send to a specialist for the spectrum and passed the test.
I see a lot of people saying here and on YT how happy they are about this "validation". Im not happy about it, I came to solve a problem with my "attitude" and having a short fuse. Now it is a permanent issue not only I have to deal with but also my wife being permanently burdened. Need to "work around" stuff so I don't get upset by whatever could trigger me.
And along with that as forgetful I know I am, I'm doing probably not as much about it as I should and my wife will be doing all the work and I feel awful about it.
I see my therapist once in 2 weeks, at the end of those weeks, last time i find myself in denial. How can this come up now? Why is it a problem now? Am I mis diagnosed? The day after I had the therapy and my wife came along and I felt being put on my spot, confirming once more there is something wrong with me.
Just to clarify, my wife and the therapist are very understanding and kind. This is just how I felt.
My therapist also asked how my parents/ siblings deal with me or could give some insight about this. Well since the pandemic the relationship with them has not been great because we had our differences about following the rules set by the government. It really confused me why they were so against it, they are getting old so I was afraid i could lose them if they got sick.
Anyway I was getting in contact again slowly so I thought next time I visit I'll try ask them how I was ans especially I remember being on some special school for reasons I now knew or asked about (I went to 'reguler school' later so I didn't think much of it).
Long backstory how all came to be here;
Well I got told I haven't talked until around the age of 4 - 5 years old. That was also the time I was at normal school but the school had issues with me clearly cause of the non-verbal and that ending in tantrums because not being understood. The school alarmed my parents about this but they didn't really take it seriously, had to be threatened with me taking away to get the help I needed.
I have been on this kind of "special needs schools" for most of my schoolyears that I didn't realize until just a couple of weeks ago. (Didn't ask, so no need to tell I guess). eventually got onto a regular school (the help just stopped there I guess)
And come to think of it, I know my whole life it's been a struggle to keep up with people, keep up with the school work that we got assigned to do. But I always thought that was normal, things are supposed to be hard. I struggled myself through IT education, was able to complete the first "level" of that but next was just too much, I tried 2 times with a 'pause' in between but dropped out both times.
Got a job at a call-center that I was doing really well, but I "needed" to grow. So I got another job at some small IT company (it was just me and him at the time). He was interested in me because of the call-center experience I had and he could use it to improve his business. For almost 10 years I worked there and learned a lot around IT doing a lot of different things, but also by myself. The company kept small but that was fine. After those 10 years he sold the company because he wanted to do something else. The new owner seemed to be a nice guy, but the other that was acting like a manager of the place. He was pretty direct which I liked but also a bit harsh, though that would be ok and able to deal with. Oh I was so wrong he got me on most of the pettiest thing he didn't agree on. It happened twice and I just couldn't compute that, I broke down, got super angry and quit my job after. My wife was understanding and saw the ridiculous mails that guy has sent. The owner was as passive as **** about it and was no help at all.
A month or 2 later a former client got a hold of that and asked if i was interested in doing the IT for them, I accepted but wanted something a little different this time and got labeled as a process manager (doing IT on the side). I understood I was supposed to digitalize current processes to get them more efficient.
It was hard, people were not cooperating, didn't reply to my questions or emails. I had to find out everything myself and got additional responsibilities because nobody understood the process/technology behind it. Ended up doing tonnes of stuff and being very reactive to issues that were addressed by those people.
At one point the manager handed me over a massive project, I was supposed to get the whole company being centralized (3 different locations). It gave me instant anxiety because I knew this is not something small and my current experience with the people I knew this was going to blow up in my face. I took a couple of weeks to process but I turned down the project and he didn't take it very well, but accepted it.
The project got on someone else's plate, I was put on the side line of it to at least help out.
In the meantime I did manage to make some significant changes but only because I spent a lot of time testing and running things in parallel with the current processes. People were happy with the result of that so I continued with these kinds of changes.
5 years in, the big project was too big for anyone and the difference between the locations were hard to overcome. I've got a new manager by then and there was a reorganisation going. Eventually I got on the radar, and got my first evaluation ever with my current and latest manager. They were not happy with me. - Why didn't i take on the project, it was the reason we hired you (never knew that tbh) -what have you accomplished in the meantime?
And from here I was already in shock, I didn't expect an evaluation to go back 5 years. I stumbled over my words and eventually shutdown sitting in silence because I heard I wasn't making sense to myself.
Got told they wonder how I'm doing, they don't see me being passionate and not having a "drive" at work. This put me off even more, I don't really understand how someone can be passionate in the first place.
I don't remember much anymore what's been said or how it all ended. It threw me off and I doubted myself what I was doing, why and if I should be doing it. It took me a week to process and took me a couple of days to gather the courage to ask for another evaluation so I could be better prepared. I wrote down what I wanted to say. It was this time just with the current manager. I was very emotional and cried during my 'monologue' towards her.
Afterwards she apologized for the way it went, they only meant to give me a "wake up call" not to completely tackle me down. Again I don't remember much else she said, but things were ok I guess.
Every Friday we (just us 3) come together to discuss previous and upcoming week. I became super aware of what I've been able to complete and what not. The last couple of weeks I had a lot of trouble finishing my tasks and always had excuses (well it was always because people didn't come back at me or didn't have time for me). The second Friday after the last talk I broke down, I was already anxious the whole week because I knew it didn't go well I called my coworker that already knew things weren't really going well with me (had a lot of phone calls with him about this, I had a need for a lot of second opinions from him). I told him I can't keep myself together anymore and can't attend the meeting he understood and now had to build up the courage to call the manager. I was getting more anxious and was already breaking down telling her I can't handle it anymore. I had a short talk and decided to take an extra Monday off and this Friday.
Tuesday I went to work but didn't do much, Wednesday had a meeting with HR and the manager broke down again and HR was clearly concerned about the state I was in. This also rang a bell about my wellbeing I decided to officially call in sick as long I can't function normally.
From here I was already seeing a private shrink that already suspected something, she said I should get a referral from a GP which will then be covered by insurance and from there get the help I need because it's possibly going to be a long and expensive process. So that's what I did and a little over a month later I was seeing another shrink which was also suspecting ASD. Which got me diagnosed shortly after which pretty much ends the backstory here.
I not necessarily wanted to share, but needed it to write down and collect my thoughts altogether and have it a bit organised.
I just checked and I'm now 160 in being 'sick' but still working every day but with reduced hours and having limited tasks to complete for the week. It still can give me anxiety because I again do things that are not assigned to me for the week and get in trouble with completing them. I can't say 'no' when people ask for help or set it aside because it could have lower priorities. This ends up me getting at work an hour earlier and leaving later than is expected of me. But I can't just go home without my stuff still not being done. I'm trying to stop doing that but it's hard.
That's kinda it now, don't know what else to put down. Had a talk with my wife in between writing this because I was getting emotional multiple times. At least it's kinda of my chest now.

He’s Not PowerPuff Pantalone, Part 2: Justice for Baizhu?
Part 2 to the Foil Theory is here! (Here’s Part 1 for context.) Today, we’re discussing how it relates to the Commedia dell’Arte, Gnosticism, Greek mythology, historical figures, and the greater plot of Genshin Impact. Fair warning: This is long, and I can’t finish this analysis without addressing other major in-game lore, pop-culture references, and real-world history. Stop reading now if you're concerned with possible spoilers.

The first post only served as groundwork for lore & theories. The symbol attributed to Pantalone on the Harbinger’s Wheel is likely the Globus Cruciger, or the “orb and cross.”

Now can we properly discuss Pants. Let's start with Pappus:
The Attelan stock character Pappus may have played a forerunner, or Harbinger, to Pantalone. Given the way formal theatre literature framed this, I chose to investigate Pappus first.
The name Pappus likely originated from the Greek ‘Pappos,’ meaning “grandfather” or “old man.” He was typically portrayed as a fool who was easily tricked by his wife or daughter. He may have been based on Pappus of Alexandria: a Greek mathematician who wrote 8 volumes of mathematical texts featuring Euclidian geometric principles and other subjects (called “Synagoge.”)
What’s Euclidian Geometry? “Euclidean geometry is a mathematical system attributed to ancient Greek mathematician Euclid, which he described in his texts on geometry, “Elements.” Pappus’ own work on projective planes was partly influenced by “Elements.” ‘Elements’ refers to geometric mathematical principles.
The Pappus Configuration is a configuration of nine points and nine lines in the Euclidean plane, with three points per line and three lines through each point.
That’s cool, but… I’m here for the gorgeous banker? Okay, okay. As I researched Pappus, it became evident that some works and terminology associated with him and Euclid may have been repurposed along with Gnostic premises for Genshin Impact’s plot. I’m operating on the assumption Hoyoverse read some of the same formal sources I did, so it feels criminal to omit these details. Moving on…

Commedia dell’Arte Pantalone
He’s consistent in his behaviomannerisms, and his role in the plot. He’s typically an affluent Venetian merchant whose greatest fear is financial loss, and encompasses everything his (proposed) primary inspiration isn’t.
Pantalone is rich, greedy, lecherous, pompous, and prone to mismanaging business and personal affairs. He’s often partnered with Il Dottore in some capacity, sometimes married to La Signora, and often the father of one of the Innamorati. When he plays the father of one of the Innamorati alongside Dottore, they work together to keep the Lovers separated at all costs.
Some players discounted the Commedia dell’Arte influence on the Fatui Harbinger’s lore because it was comedic. However, “our” Pantalone is somewhat consistent with his Commedia dell’Arte image, and there are several Lazzos/background history that seem to have been foreshadowed already. Here’s an amazing example featuring Pulcinella:

To create the illusion of ferociousness, Pulcinella (hidden behind a door from the Captain) fakes the voices of servants being beaten by him. That’s the entire punchline of this Lazzo.
-Lazzo of Greeting (Potential Pulcinella Spoilers)
“Pulcinella greets the Captain or another character with what seems like great respect. He says, "You are the son of Jove, the new moon, and twice the last name of Alexander!" Then, Pulcinella explains, "The son of Jove refers to Bacchus, who is depicted as a goat. The new moon is represented by horns, and the last name of Alexander is Magno. When repeated twice, it becomes magno-magno. So, the entire greeting means: 'Eat it up, eat it up, you horned goat [cuckold].'"
In Genshin Impact, Tartaglia speaks of Pulcinella as a concerned-grandpa-type looking out for his family, while Wanderer is convinced that Pulcinella’s real message to Tartaglia is something to the effect of “your family’s lives are in my hands.” These Lazzo tells us who’s more likely to be correct. Pulcinella being made out to be as malicious as he’s implied may be an illusion, and he may not share the loyalty/regard to the organization that other members do in spite of his cooperative front. Wanderer’s take on his behavior speaks only to affirming personal biases. (Keep in mind that Wanderer assumes the worst of everyone, and that About voicelines alone don’t necessarily speak to the full truth; only the character’s perception of the truth.)

Lazzo of Pantalone’s Story

“Pantalone begins to tell ridiculous and impossible stories about adventures he has supposedly had with well-known figures from medieval/ancient history.”
The punchline is that he talks about this at great lengths, and nobody believes him. I questioned how Hoyoverse may have used this Lazzo, and came at it from several angles that all felt equally ridiculous. It got messier when I factored in the possibilities behind other popular theories I’ve read. He’s King Deshret, he’s a Vishap-person, he’s Nibelung, he’s Changsheng’s evil segment, he’s Rouran, he’s Ouroboros incarnate, he’s the one who founded the Wangshang Funeral Parlor, he’s Baizhu moonlighting as a Harbinger, he’s a priest who ventured into the Abyss, he’s an Abyss Mage/Lector, he’s the Heart of Naberius, he’s a soldier who fell into the Chasm, he’s Caribert, he’s immortal Clothar Alberich, etc.
In the end, I chose to interpret this as “Pantalone is ancient, and has likely played more than one historical role in Genshin Impact.” Why?

St. Pantaleon (meaning ‘all things like a lion,) better known as St. Pantaleimon (the all-compassionate) is commonly suggested to have inspired Commedia Pantalone, making Commedia Pantalone a traditional foil to his real-world counterpart. Born and raised with a Pagan education during Diocletian’s persecution of Christians, Pantaleon gravitated to medicine. One day, he happened upon a child who’d been killed by a viper. Saving the child was beyond his power as a mortal physician, and Pagan gods wouldn’t come through. As a test of faith, he prayed to God. The child was revived, & the viper was killed. He’s renamed Pantaleimon, usually upon converting to Christianity.
He went on to treat everyone without charge (including restoring a blind man’s sight to convert his father,) and treated prisoners freely too, many of whom were Christians. Jealous doctors who’d lost patients to Pantaleimon’s goodwill responded by reporting him to Emperor Maximian for healing Christians. Emperor Maximian ordered Pantaleimon to sacrifice to Pagan gods, but he refused and proposed a test of faith. A sick person for whom there was no hope would be brought before them, and each would pray to God/Pagan Gods to see who came through. They brought in a paralyzed man. Pagan Gods didn’t respond. Pantaleimon un-paralyzed the man using the power of God. Now playing “Big Mad,” Maximian responded by killing the unparalyzed guy, and sentencing Pantaleimon to torture. However, the power of God protected Pantaleimon from a ton of your usual Roman violence (boiling, stabbing, etc) so Maximian ordered his execution.
At the site of his execution, God called down to him. The soldier's swords softened upon their attempts to execute him. He forgave the soldiers ordered to kill him, they repented, he told them to off him anyway to protect them, and he was beheaded. However, his body refused to decay.
St. Pantaleimon is the best evidence Pantalone plays a foil to Genshin Impact’s Baizhu, and the best evidence of a potential Alberich/Khaenri’ah allegory.
Baizhu is currently following a path similar to Pantaleimon’s. Though he extorted Pantalone indirectly over the Everlasting Incense (which is extremely funny for reasons I’ll explain later) he’s also known to treat people for free when they can’t afford his help. He’s the pharmacist from Liyue we work with to cure Anna’s illness, and he used his research on Qiqi to save Jialiang from death. He’s currently in pursuit of immortality, which Pantaleimon appeared to achieve in the end, and was ultimately ‘killed’ for.
The narrative similarities to Clothar’s pleas to the Statue of the Seven in saving Caribert are too flagrant to ignore. The Archons don’t answer, but the “Sinner” did, and imbued Caribert with the Loom of Fate (said to be of Primordial Creation) saving Caribert. This story may imply that the “Sinner” is some aspect of the Primordial One.

I could only find Bulgarian Orthodox and Russian Orthodox sources mentioning this variation of St. Pantaleimon’s background, and some are conflicting on whether or not healing was involved. He was born into extreme poverty, sent to work in an old shoe shop and doing other odd jobs from a young age to survive. A terrible plague swept across his homeland, and he was left wandering alone, surrounded by endless death. He sought understanding/help, and ended up in a monastery on Mount Athos (an important Greek center of Eastern Orthodox Monostacism.) He inquired persistently as to the nature of life and death, and became fixated on partaking in Holy Communion, believing it to bestow eternal life. He would eventually be expelled for partaking in excess, and went on to become a religious leader whose followers lived in poverty. He believed communion to be their salvation; everlasting connection to God. He was persecuted by the Greek patriarch, and arrested under orders of the Bishop of Adrianople. However, he and his followers would go on to unite with the Catholic Church. He was later venerated in Bulgaria and Russia as Saint Pantaleimon, suggesting multiple “St. Pantaleimon” inspirations. 1 article claims he founded a religion known as Pantaleymonovsty: I can't find anything else to expand on this. I also had to translate sources, so hopefully I haven’t missed important details, but I can’t promise so.
His story is similar to Baizhu’s with the loss of his parents during a plague and pursuit of immortality, but more closely resembles Pantalone’s, given his implied profound experience with destitution, and rhetoric dictated by religion & leadership. This St. Pantaleimon lends more credence to the Foil theory, as well as several Liyue and religion-oriented theories, which leads me to…
3. Holy Prophet Mani, the Zoroastrian Martyr:

I generally avoid using Wikipedia summaries, but when formal sources back them up and I can’t find a better way to summarize info, they’re helpful.
“Mani was an Iranian prophet and the founder of Manichaeism, a religion most prevalent in late antiquity. The exact meaning of the name is a question still unsolved. It may have derived from Babylonian-Aramaic Mânâ [luminescence].” Mandaeans used the term mânâ rabba, which means "Enlightened Lord/King". Ancient Greek interpretations were skeuos (σκεῦος, vessel, instrument) and homilia (ὁμιλία, intercourse, company, communion, instruction.)
Here’s where the Foil theory gets interesting:
Baizhu’s birthday is April 25th. This is also the date commemorating Mani’s birth.
A prophet who blended Gnosticism with Buddhist and Zoroastrian elements, Mani was arrested and martyred by Persian authorities, not unlike St. Pantaleimon. Meanwhile, our Pantalone is looking… An awful lot like a conglomeration of a different Saint Pantaleimon, and Commedia Pantalone.

King Pantaleon was a Greek King and successor to Demetrius I Anicetus the ‘Unconquered,’ who is thought by some to have been his brother. His copper-alloy coins may be suggestive of early Bactrian trade with China. His role is consistent with the ‘ruling with the authority of God’ sentiment behind the Globus Cruciger, and involves production of personalized currency.
5: Rouran Khaganate, "Zhongli"+ "Xiao", & "Pantaleon y las Visitadoras"

Modernization/assimilation (Alatus = Xiao, Deus Auri = Zhongli, Abrax = Aberaku, etc) is a common theme Pantalone may have followed as an ancient entity. Considering this and his connection to Baizhu lends credence to the Rouran coin-replacement-as-warfare theory discussed in the first post. Furthermore, one of the last recorded Rouran was named Furen.
There’s also some interesting misinformation that Hoyo may have been inspired by to explain the similarities to Pantalone’s pose in Winter Night’s Lazzo, and the Harbinger’s cloaks. One historian/linguistic expert claimed linguistic origins revealed ‘Rouran’ may not have been a name, but an ancient term for anyone who defected from their nation/allegiance to serve a charismatic warlord. I say ‘misinformation’ because this was disproven by another historian. (The Rouran Khaganate overall is very misunderstood.)
Thanks to user Kameshazam linking info I missed, the "Pantalone is Rouran" theory may have been proven in full! Recall from the 1st post that "Rouran" owns the Flower Boat (referencing prostitution vessels) set in the harbor, opposite of Bubu Pharmacy.
"Pantaleon y las Visitadoras" is a Peruvian comedic novel by Mario Vargas Llosa (allegedly based on real events) featuring a Captain Pantaleon Pantoja. Pantaleon is reluctantly sent on a mission by the Peruvian Army to... Cultivate a secret prostitution service intended to "satisfy" soldiers stationed there. Despite his misgivings, he follows orders. The services are referred to as "benefits" under an "audit" program, and the prostitutes are referred to as "visitadoras." Pantaleon becomes involved with one of the women, cheating on his wife with her. The woman is later assassinated by angry locals. In response, Pantaleon shows up to her funeral dressed in military attire, confirming to the public what was going on behind the scenes in the army. The resulting complaints ultimately end the "services," and the army sends Pantaleon to a garrison far away. Yet again, a Pantalone reference featuring leadership and conflicting morality.
6. Emperor Wang Mang:

Again, because of Baizhu’s connection to Pantalone, we need to consult both Russian and Chinese history for analysis. To that end, recall Zhiyi, Pantalone’s cunning subordinate and the antagonist of Yelan’s Story Quest?
小钱币,值一 , or Xiǎo qiánbì, zhí yī, meaning ‘Small Coin, Worth One’ were introduced as the lowest denomination of a new currency system under Emperor Wang Mang’s rule of China. Wang Mang was considered China’s first Socialist. Zhiyi’s name in Yelan’s Story Quest may be a reference to this, a homonym essentially calling him low value – or as Uncle Tian puts it the EN translation, a “pawn.”
\Please note that there are multiple ways this was translated in different historical sources; if you attempt to use basic translating apps to investigate, you’re probably going to get nonsense-sounding results.*
Emperor Wang Mang was a Confucian ascetic who rose to power through his good standing. Wang Mang secured his position as Regent to the Emperor Ping by arranging a marriage between the Emperor and his own daughter. Later, it’s said that Wang Mang’s son conspired with the Emperor’s Uncles to end his regency. They were all put to death on Wang Mang’s orders for the ‘conspiracy.’ Emperor Ping would later die by unknown causes; whether it was natural, or a matter of poisoning is debated by historians. Wang Mang replaced him. He was known for his efforts to reform society through use of forward-thinking foreign policy, the imposition of taxes on slave owners, and currency replacement, though these efforts didn’t go over well. His intentions in all of this are uncertain; was he sincerely trying to help his people, or did he merely see these methods as a means of securing wealth and control? Whether he was ultimately a tyrant or a benevolent ruler is debated depending on the source.
More conflicting intentions and wealth inequality. He's easily likened to the contradictory impressions of Pantalone behaving like Commedia Pantalone (who also leveraged his child to benefit economically/politically) while wearing symbols related to the ‘all-compassionate’ Pantaleimon, like the Heart of Gold motif. That said, Emperor Wang Mang didn’t use currency replacement as a form of intercontinental warfare or defect to other countries, and other nuances to his background directly contradict Pantalone’s, which is why I concluded the Rouran Khaganate to be the other aspect to the monetary warfare/reform inspiration.
7. Commedia Pantalone

‘Our’ Pantalone and his associates encompass the extravagant and cruel nature depicted in his Commedia role so far. His subordinates are terrified of him, and they tend to operate in very underhanded ways: espionage, sabotage, monopolization of resources, even turning on one another when things get rough to come out on top.
A prime example of the company he keeps? The Rusty Rudder in Fontaine. It’s full of Pantalone’s sketchy associates, including a debt collector who hints at an imminent meeting and forcefully bribes us. You can find a correspondence between criminals in codewords, threatening to make unsuitable business partners wear “cement shoes”; in other words, threatening to tie them up, attach a weight to them, and drown them in the ocean. You can also find a bill referencing the suspicious transaction of 3 mysterious items we accidentally helped Pantalone complete with Landa when we first entered Liyue, as well as an article clipping referencing the fall of the criminal organization “Club Pantaloni di Novela” to the Spina di Rosula, further referencing the tendency of Commedia Pantalone’s plans to fail.
Arlecchino’s voiceline regarding him suggests he’s subtly temperamental; not as controlled as he believes himself to be, which tracks with Commedia Pantalone and Luoxia’s description of Rouran.
Furthermore, he purchased the pelt of an extinct legendary beast to offer as a gift to the Tsaritsa. Yelan stole it and repurposed it as a mantle as payback for Pantalone having stolen one of her Fascinating Bracelets. Both items were ancient (Yelan mentions the technology behind the bracelet is ancient,) but Pantalone seemed to have intimate knowledge to target them as he did, further implying “our” Pantalone possesses “old” knowledge related to Liyue. Traditional theatre instructions of Pantalone, Tartaglia, Dottore, and sometimes Capitano refer to them as “old men.”

The Attelan Farce refers to the Roman improvised masked comedies the Commedia dell’Arte was said to be inspired by. There’s a great deal of emphasis on Pappus’ age in the Attelan stock, with his name being the only one derived from Oscan; an extinct Italian language. (Capitano and Pulcinella are also thought to draw direct inspiration from other Attelan characters, though the details are debated.) Pappus’ foolishness is also emphasized like Commedia Pantalone’s, and real-world Pappus’ contributions to Euclidian Geometry as a skilled mathematician contrast against this starkly.

Be warned that by addressing this, I might be spoiling serious plot points.
“The Pale Princess & the 6 Pygmies” The repeating pattern of 6 eyelets made this impossible for me to overlook. Lisa gives us the first volume at the very beginning of the game, and we haven’t seen another since. Why? Because it holds weighty implications about the creation of the world and how the plot will progress. Some believed this story exclusively referenced Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and I agreed… Until I researched Pantalone, Enkanomiya, and a ton of Greek history. Then I spent a drunken evening saltily pulling it all apart again, with focus on the Night Mother. Why? Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella all took influence from older Greek or Roman mythology. (One example is the story of Chione, or ‘Snow.’ )
An Enkanomiyan Questline titled “Erebos’ Secret” had us endure 3 trials in the corners of Enkanomiya with the help of Eboshi. Finishing this questline dropped major lore. Many assumed ‘Erebos’ & ‘Eboshi’ were references to the assimilation of Enkanomiyans into Narukami culture.
However, the symbol representing the Questline and other World Quests tells a different story, as does the Greek history behind the name Erebos. The symbol just so happens to resemble the brooch Pantalone is wearing, which leads us to:

The Odal Rune’s inversion suggests he doesn’t possess the “natural” right to rule the world, which is how Phanes, the Demiurge in certain Gnostic beliefs, is regarded. Its positioning could be likened to the positioning of Ganondorf’s fragment of the Triforce, and Ganondorf believes himself to be a rightful King.
Yes, I’m likening Pantalone to the Ganondorf in Twilight Princess, representing the Demiurge. If you’ve never played the Zelda series, it revolves around the power of the Triforce, and the incarnations of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf fighting the same battles of good and evil in different periods/worlds. Ganondorf is a Sorcerer King born with the innate right to rule the Gerudo. Ganon covets Hyrule Kingdom for the light and peace it holds (very unlike the dry, harsh Gerudo Desert) and attacks Hyrule. He’s caught and imprisoned in the Arbiter’s Grounds, sentenced to be executed by the 6 Sages.

Sounding anything like Pantaleimon’s execution? The difference is that Ganon is just innately evil; I don’t believe Pantalone is innately evil, otherwise there wouldn’t be repeated hints towards his being in conflict with his emotions.
Moving on, if you research Erebos in the context of Gnosticism (also spelled as Erebus) you’ll learn that he’s a Primordial God of Darkness, often Nyx’s counterpart in Primordial creation. Nyx is a Greek Primordial Goddess born in the darkness. She has many names across different cultures, and is often likened to Gaea.
One of her titles, “Gogyen Sowhuti,” translates to “Grandmother Spider” in Native American cultures; particularly Hopi, Cherokee, and Navajo beliefs. The Grandmother Spider perpetually weaves and destroys the universe as she spins her web. However, Genshin Impact draws primary influence from Gnostic belief systems.
Per Brittanica, “The Orphic Rhapsodies made her the daughter and successor of Phanes, a creator god. Aristotle, in Metaphysics, Book XII, asserted that some “theologians” derive all things from night. This idea fits the theogony of Aristophanes’ Birds. Throughout antiquity Nyx caught the imagination of poets and artists, but she was seldom worshipped.”
In yet more variations, Nyx is actually Phanes wife. Together, they created more primordial entities to found the universe, but Nyx went forgotten. For the “Supernatural” fans inevitably going OH MY GOD right now… Yes, you could liken them to Chuck and Amara. The ending to "Supernatural" was also informed by Greek & Roman mythology, and some Gnostic principles: Fortuna herself grew to believe in Sam and Dean’s self-determined heroism.

Furthermore, in the Book of Genesis, it’s said that in the beginning of creation, God separated the Darkness from the rest of creation to protect it.
“The Separation of Light from Darkness is, from the perspective of the Genesis chronology, the first of nine central panels that run along the center of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling and which depict scenes from the Book of Genesis. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”
The cruel ‘Night Mother’ can be framed as Phanes’ counterpart, as some beliefs say Phanes rose from the Abyss. So yes, this lends credence to the theory that Phanes/Celestia aren’t necessarily purely antagonistic in how they handle Abyssal influence.
Erebos is also “Aether’s” father. I’m referring to the Greek Aether. Pantalone in the Commedia dell’Arte is typically the Father of one of the Innamorati. Before you go “but the Travelers aren’t the Innamorati,” hear me out.

The Innamorati virtually never don masks in the original Commedia dell’Arte, and Genshin Impact went out of its way to make us wear a mask in Mondstadt. This drew players away from the assumption that the Twins represented the Lovers. I felt like it was a misdirection. So I also investigated the Innamorati, and their influence on later storytelling. Many popular stories are thought to have directly spun off of the dynamic between the Lovers.
The key takeaway about the Innamorati's influence ultimately wasn’t that they were literal lovers, but that their pursuit of one another drove the greater plot. A popular example would be Naruto and Sasuke's relationship in Naruto/Shippuden.
The Twins absolutely can be the Innamorati in modern storytelling, which means ‘Pantalone’ has the capacity to act as a ‘Father.’
It’s not a coincidence that the brooch Pantalone is wearing just so happens to feature the same upside-down Odal rune in the same position as the ‘power’ segment of the Triforce when you consider the implications of the Globus Cruciger in godliness and authority to rule, and Genshin’s admission to having taken significant influence from Breath of the Wild. What could this make Pants, given his fixation with the natural rights of humanity? Daddy. The Father. The ‘androgynous’ Phanes – or I should say, a part of Phanes. Which leads us to…

Cosmic Dualism, Baizhu, the Nag Hammadi, Manichaeism, and Phanes

Cosmic dualism relates to Gnostic principles of forces in opposition, similar (but not the same) to concepts like Yin-Yang. Depending on the belief system, it can regard the opposition of the material world and 'evil' God, framed against the immaterial and 'true' God. This is among the reasons why Baizhu is contrasted against Pantalone, and why they both feature black-and-white rhetoric and motifs.
'Cycles' regarding time and history are constants in-game. I suspect Phanes/his Shades ended up subject to Teyvat's ‘cycle.’ I have no idea how/when. So why would I draw this conclusion?
When I was doing my Pantalone/Baizhu analysis, I kept challenging my own take because they share so much in common besides their looks. Baizhu delayed naming Bubu Pharmacy to just start treating patients, and then named Bubu Pharmacy using anti-Gods wordplay. Pantalone complained about naming the Credit Coupons as he hatched the “removing Zhongli’s authority and replacing Mora” plan, and then gave them a similarly symbolic name.
"In Liyue, a form of divination is often used to predict fortune and peril or ask the gods for guidance. The people of Liyue call their particular art Zhanbu. "A name and a message... Then let us send the message that no matter the fortunes of this shop, or the diseases afflicting our patients..." Baizhu picked up the prescription note and faced the rising sun framed through the door. "...Or our fates, we don't need to ask the gods or use divination any longer." In the language of Liyue, "Zhanbu" is divination, but "bu" can also be the word for a refusal or negation. Thus, he chose a name that enshrined his beliefs. The rays of sunlight were shining through the door and the thin paper in his hand, with the words written by his hand clear and confident— Bubu Pharmacy, Baizhu."
So here was my reasoning: -What would you call 2 people who share the same ‘essence’ without being the same person? -What if they share the same soul? That’s a popular concept in many cultures, especially regarding Twins

There are distinct references to this concept in the Nag Hammadi, as well as references from Mani’s belief system.

The Nag Hammadi, an ancient and badly damaged Gnostic text, is full of references to worlds where souls go to be purified. It discusses models and copies of souls being transferred from one “path” to the next. (These obscure passages may also relate to Visions, but that part’s just supposition.)
-“[Souls] are located according to the power they have in themselves, [...] lower are produced by the copies. Those who receive a model of their souls are still in the world. They came into being after the departure of the aeons, one by one, and they are removed one by one from the copy of Exile to the Exile that really exists, from the copy of Repentance to the Repentance that really exists, [and from the] copy of Autogenes to [the Autogenes] that really exists. The remainder [...] the souls [...] exist in a [...] all [...] of aeons [...]
-( …) “He said, "[Zost]rianos, listen about these [...] for the first [...] origins are three because they have appeared in a single origin [of] the Barbelo aeon, not like some origins and powers, nor like (one) from an origin and power. It is to every origin that they have appeared; they have strengthened every power; and they appeared from that which is far better than themselves. These (three) are Existence, Blessedness and Life.”
Meanwhile, Mani taught how the soul of a righteous individual returns to Paradise upon dying, but "the soul of the person who persisted in things of the flesh – fornication, procreation, possessions, cultivation, harvesting, eating of meat, drinking of wine – is condemned to rebirth in a succession of bodies."

The ‘Old men’ from the commedia are usually Pantalone, Dottore, and Tartaglia – all of whom have at least 1 additional ‘version’ of themselves canonically confirmed in Genshin Impact. Dottore is almost obsessive about preserving ‘perspectives.’
We find notes on a play “Ajax” was part of as the 2nd strongest member of his alliance from hundreds of years ago, while “our” Ajax exists presently. Dottore has his whole obsession with preserving “perspectives” while taking offense to being called “young.” Baizhu therefor fits as Pantalone’s 'other self,' explaining the implied age gap; Pantalone lived into another cycle while his ‘model’ was incarnated yet again.
In other words, Baizhu isn't Pantalone in disguise: they have unique life experiences and conflicting perspectives while sharing base likenesses because they’re the same ‘essence’ on divergent paths, not unlike the Travelers. Whether or not they’ve met and influenced one another has yet to be seen.

All Roads Lead to Phanes, proposed to be the Primordial One

Here's where it becomes crack-theory territory. Please be kind in your response to these suppositions, because I spent weeks researching academic sources from JSTOR, and my fingers hurt.

I’m not claiming any of this is a guarantee of how Hoyo will treat this dynamic, but I’m struggling to form other conclusions:
Pantalone’s represented by the Globus Cruciger, a Christian symbol representing God’s dominion over the world. There's a ton of symbolism in the stories inspiring Baizhu and Pantalone’s rhetoric regarding religion, martyrdom, healing, economics, and inequality, suggesting they’re connected by far more than their designs. Baizhu and Pantalone’s rhetoric regard humanity’s plights.
...But Pantalone has an inhuman appearance; pointed ears somewhat similar to Neuvillette’s, and eyes hidden, presumably because they reveal something very distinct about him.
I’ve double-checked Baizhu’s model, and his right ear appears normal; the left is concealed by his hair. As for his eyes, we’ve repeatedly confirmed they were altered as a consequence of his contract with Changsheng; both the shape of his pupils and the color of the iris were swapped with Changsheng. So Baizhu’s natural eyes were violet-red and human; Pantalone’s may also be red, but inhuman
-The simplest explanation is that Phanes was said to be beautiful and inhuman. But given they hid Pantalone's eyes...
-If I stretch, perhaps Vishap-people were a thing during the Roman-inspired empires, they eventually grew to identify with humanity, and our Pantalone may have been reborn as the human-vishap blend Enjou discussed with us in Enkanomiya to repent for what Phanes did to the Sovereigns. Vishap-people are said to be mostly indistinguishable from humans, but with altered pupils. Enjou wasn’t the most reliable narrator, but this Version mentioned the "Traitorous Dragonheirs” in Remuria’s history, Petrichor is based on Italy (and may also reference the Greek village of Pantaleimonas,) Pappus’ name in the Atellan stock implies he’s ancient Italian, Pantalone's early background closely fits St. Pantaleimon Sudzhaksky's, and Repentance is mentioned repeatedly in the Nag Hammadi.
-The alternate STRETCH is that we shouldn’t interpret the “Christian" reference literally in Pantalone's case, and he’s following the path Enjou implied by joining the Harbingers. Enjou suggested Vishaps evolved in Enkanomiya to infiltrate/sabotage human ranks. He could be Nibelung, King of Dragons himself - or someone who believes in Nibelung’s authority as the King (Pulcinella allegedly has lore-based connections to Nibelung, and he and Pantalone are cooperating on Project Stuzha.) Collection of the Gnoses would reveal the ‘true’ God, and the Sovereigns power was stolen by the Primordial One.
So, would their unity reveal Nibelung or Phanes? It’s unclear how that sentiment’s going to be defined in Genshin Impact. One possibility is that Pantalone is Nibelung’s equivalent, and Baizhu is Phanes’ equivalent.
But it gets more tedious when you read Vera’s Melancholy, which implies eyeball-eating-aliens-writing-stories-for-interdimensional-worlds vibes. One of the main characters was Ike, a black-haired boy with glasses + tendency to monologue, and they were from ‘Delphi,’ a real place in Greece. Another character in the story claimed to have "fused" with a dragon.
Teyvat's natural order is draconic. Ouroboros is a persistent theme in-game. It informs Beidou’s design/lore, and it’s also described as a natural ‘phenomenon’ discovered by Enkanomiyans, used to create the Serpent’s Heart. Ouroboros can be depicted as a snake or dragon consuming itself: as a representation of eternal creation and destruction.
You could argue Nibelung, the King of Dragons, would be the “true” God per the Orphic Gnostic belief systems. Ophites (a derogatory term from the Greek Ophis, ‘serpent,' coined by Hippolytus) venerated the Serpent in the Bible because it was seen to have enlightened humanity.

Regardless of how the details are panned out, they are most likely God/Shades in some respect, and they’ve been subjected to the cyclical-incarnational nature of Teyvat. So now for residual thoughts:
On the Baizhu/Pantalone end, there’s potential foreshadowing in Baizhu’s Story Details. Genshin explains that he's in conflict with Hu Tao, but that they and Zhongli all play a part in life and death, as it’s where their empathy/concerns overlap completely.
Zhongli is popularly proposed as one of the Shades. I might agree now. If we contemplate the “Pantalone founded the Wangshang Funeral Parlor” theory I've seen floating around, he’d be double-foiled against Baizhu with Hu Tao as an allegory, and again connected to Zhongli.
I haven’t researched Capitano in depth yet, but some players allege he may have played more than one role in Genshin’s history, too. Similarly, there are some narrative consistencies to suggest that Dottore is connected to Shiruyeh, the Lord of Pestilence; if this pattern is accurate, then Shiruyeh could be a wronged past “self” of Dottore’s. Dottore seems more than intelligent enough to have noticed these patterns himself, given all of “Zandik’s” research across Sumeru. Accordingly, he may be creating segments as a way to ensure he never forgets the truth while he resists the cycle.
Ei & the Raiden Shogun may foreshadow what the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles is: a puppet acting on orders independent of its leader, because its leadeShades have been absent and/or ignorant to their own identities. This may be why Celestia is decaying, and why Baizhu/Pantalone would be related while suffering the very consequences of the cycle of incarnation.

The Takeaway?

Pantalone and Baizhu are a HUGE DEAL in Genshin Impact’s greater plot, the Foil theory is absolutely spot-on, and some popular theories as to Pantalone’s identity are probably simultaneously true for one reason or another. We can’t rule out many theories from this info, as some of it is conflicting. That’s why I came to the conclusion that they were inspired by numerous historical figures, with 'Godliness' being the main consistency.

2024.05.03 18:25 Reptilefan92 Window AC in Apartment with old school (Bussman) Fuse Box? Also, more power draw on start up?

So, I've moved into a new Apartment that doesn't use a circuit breaker, it just has an old school fuse box with time delay Bussman fuses, which I've never actually dealt with before. I haven't got my AC yet, but I had some questions about one with these fuses. The Bedroom where I want to put an air conditioner uses a 15 amp, 115v Bussman Time delay fuse. From my admittedly limited understanding of how all this works, the air conditioner I would put in my window would use about 500-600 watts (it would just be a small 5000-6000 BTW AC in a window), or 5-6 amps of the 15 allowed for the fuse. My question is, is my understanding of this correct? The AC will be fine with the fuses?
Also, I read about how many ACs will use more power than normal when initially starting up, but... how much more? I wasn't really able to find this info anywhere, for any model of AC I looked at? Would it be enough to blow the fuses?

What is the difference in these two fuses?
Both are Bussman, both 7 amps. Why is the wire straight in one and not the other? I have looked all over Bussman’s data sheets and am coming up empty. The wire that’s shaped like a sine wave is labeled 250V, “AGC7”, the straight fuse is also 250V, but says “AGC7A” - did Bussman change the design at some point and started adding an A after the #? I’m repairing an RF amplifier and want to make sure I’m using the correct rating; I assume they are both fast acting.

I was in a nasty accident versus a pickup truck. Going opposite directions on a two lane, he swerved over into my lane, saw his headlights veered to my right, when I realized he was coming all the way over I leaned and laid it over hard to the left, gravel or sand got me sliding so I softened my turn, was lined up to bounce off his right fender, next thing I know I’m slammed against his hood with my scooter crumpled up around me and a nasty pressure on my leg that let me know I was going to be late to dinner. Slid off he truck as he came to a stop and flooped out of to the pavement still tangled in my scooter. Trying to extricate myself wasn’t working as my hands and left leg did t want cooperate. Waiting on emergency guys the driver did make an attempt to help. He got the scooter and me seperated as it was leaking massive amounts of fuel. That was about the time the dateline started getting overwhelmed by pain. I thought he was taking my leg off with the scooter. I couldn’t breath easy and knew better than remove my helmet but I just woant to release the strap. Hands weren’t working well enough to make that happen, Cops got there first and asked me a million questions about what I was on, drinking, smoking, didn’t even breathalyzer the guy in the truck. Let down and caused my wife and friends unecessary stress because they didn’t know where I was. My phone was blowing up but I could not get any of the first responders to answer it for me and let them know where I was and that things were being taken care of. EMTs cut every lick of clothing off of me except my boots. They unlaced and pulled them off. I told them to cut the boots too it hurt so much to pull them off!
So now im laying butt naked on the asphalt in a pool of 2 stroke mix with I’m not sure how big a crowd gawking at my undercooked shrimp and taters. And probably at the femur sticking out of my left leg. I don’t remember what the issue was but they couldn’t put me on the first ambulance and had to wait for a second. Something about needing a backboard or stretcher long enough for me maybe?
Finally loaded up in the van to go to the hospital, EVERY SINGLE SPECK OF SAND on the road let its presence be known to me. It was like a Tarantino production of the princess and the pea.
Though bits are fuzzy my brain was never friendly enough to let me black out and disconnect for a while: had so much blood lose they didn’t want to push any pain killers.
Finally got to the hospital! Fentanyl/Morphine/ketamine dream cocktail!!!! Some vague memories of trips up and down the halls to scanners and such. Woke up the next day with a giant external fixation Erector set jammed around my left leg and my left hand in a cast/splint arrangement and in lots of pain and not allowed to drink water.
Left patella kind of turned to dust, left femur exploded. Pretty much was missing about a six in segment. Mild break on one of the bones below my knee and some very mild break in my right big toe. They gave up on splinting it because I kept accidentally knocking it off. Left wrist broke radius and ulna and my fifth metacarpal. Right hand just hurt like hell but nothing showed on X-rays so they put that off as bruising. A few days later they removed the external fixation and put plates in along with something work to reattach things to what they could cobble back together or my patella.
Lots of blah blah blah. A week or so in Trauma, sent to an In Patient rehab facility where I spent another week or two. Told them I refused to leave until I could figure out how to wipe my own ass.
Coming home sucked. No weight on my left knee or my left wrist, my right hand hurt like hell. I had a walker with elbow rest so I could hop around on my one good food. Just going from the bedroom to the living room was exhausting.
Turns out the right hand had a broken scaphoid and just some general rearranging of the other bones. Femur refused to fuse. Insurance made me wait four months for additional surgeries. Accident was in October, the surgeries to fix my right hand and finish fixing my femur happened in April.
Two years later physically I’m steadily improving. Haven’t used a cane in months.
First time I drove I was angry at everyone the whole time. They put up signs and paint lines on the road for a reason people!!! If your coloring books all look like Jackson Pollacks maybe you shouldn’t be driving?
My wife is terrified of me riding. My big highway bike is getting sold at her insistence which is painful. Be easier if someone would hurry up and buy it so I could stop looking at it.
Little bikes she wants me to stick to group rides, daylight only, problem is it seems everyone I rode with kind of drifted away while I was laid up.
I come home tense and angry every night due to my drive. I try to just relax and cruise along but there’s always someone running a light, cutting me off because they forgot their turn, etc…
On to now, everyday in my head nonsense. Biggest is huge lack of motivation. I almost constantly feel like I’m interacting with the world from a third person point of view and questioning e veryone’s motives.
TLDR:dumb painful wreck, couldn’t do shit for over six months, can’t ride or drive without getting tense and aggravated, feel like I’m on the outside looking in.
Is this common PTSD feelings? Am I in the wrong room?
