2024.05.15 04:56 TotallyAPie Polaris needs a re-evaluation for turrets

For a LATEST and most MODERN capital ship in lore and technically game wise too, the Polaris is massively under tiered in terms of weapons in comparison to other military and even non-combat focused vessels.
Polaris loadout as of now from Erkul stands at ; - 1x Remote missile launcher - 1x S4 Quad - 1x S5 Quad - 3x S5 Dual
Now lets compare it to other capitals ; Idris M specifically - 1x S7 Dual - 6x S5 Dual
BMM (cargo/freight ship btw, not even classified as military ) - 2x S8 - 1x S6 Dual - 2x S5 Quad - 4x Point defence turret (unknown size)
However there are also plenty of much smaller ships that almost have the same capabilities as Polaris ;
( this list is taken from @Promettheuss in spectrum <3 ty for the list )
TL:DR Polaris is seriously lacking in terms of firepower if you remove the torpedo and we all know those torpedoes won’t be effective since they could easily be targetted. CIG wants to promote multi crew gameplay but what is the point when 4 solo corsair that is designed for exploration easily out DPS a MILITARY CLASSED CAPITAL fully manned.
Yes there are plenty of posts on spectrum highlighting this issue but im just posting for awareness.

**What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.**
i will be gaming. mostly just fortnite, apex, sims 4, overwatch, valorant, and poppys playtime
**What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?**
$1000, i can go a little over though
**When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.**
plan on buying in a a few days
**What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc\)**
everything, this will be my first build. i do not have access to an ethernet port though
**Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?**
will be purchasing in midwest north america with access to microcenter
**If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.**
not reusing anything
**Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?**
nope
**Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)**
don't think so. though i would like it (the keyboard & pc itself) to be pretty quiet if possible so i don't annoy my roommates
**Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?**
i would like a white theme! doesn't have to be all-white since i prioritize performance over aesthetics. if at least the tower case would be white though that would be nice!
**Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?**
nope

2024.05.15 04:29 EccentricSage81 usb4 type C worse than cheap usb ethernet lan landline1900s phones? (rj11/45/cat8e whatevs)

Ethernet has landline 1900s phones two pairs wires reserved in the spec sheet its 8 or so wires when crimping the ends uses like two with one for ground and one seemingly empty and then has two for phone and some unused, with old 10/100 baseT coax with terminating ends exactly like optical or coax 90s cable TV with optical fiber 99% of the way just your block has coax to the rest which uses the 'same'DOCSIS data over cable standards as fibre optic.. just slightly worse latency and bandwidth is calculated by latency things like wifi lan has like 11 channels or 15 channels of frequency which optical calls wavelengths of light. A 2015 or around there linus tech tips video of him going to a swedish lan party called dreamhack had a bunch of multiple redundant 8Terabit or was it bytes of fibre optic internet they explained with light having 7 colors but having 8terabytes of bandwidth with different wavelengths of light called frequencys or a better term for optics is known as LASER ARRAYS of light at fixed frequencys that often plugs into the PC via ethernet cables or whatever for a gamer lan party or home/residential or small businesses at realistically within budget of anything with enough users to require that bandwidth or 'web hosting or web servers' you dont need to be an undersea cable or international link with 200terabits plus for an internet exchange to your main CBD or the fastest like the netherlands IX...
So the problem im trying to solve is, here in australia we got our undersea cables done wrong they kept breaking and we didnt have a navy or defense force securing our countrys communications to prevent war crimes and keep us connected to the global banking systems or whatever.. and then when our biggest telcos cable or fibre all had dialup speeds for around 2 weeks in the early years 2000s to force us to pay other countrys to connect to their links and be ' end of the line' maybe paywalled or proxied off the internet randsomewared to connect to and borrow bandwidth from other countries satellites and other countries undersea link cables which truly were indestructible to any cruise liner ships anchors whatever being flexible giant steel braided cables big as a CAR when australia finally paid to lay small sections of that stuff to link up to others and not pay randsome to internet butt bandits or have private businesses and multi nationals run their own links and ignore the public our lack of a defense force actually let somalian pirates literally somehow pick up and walk off with our expensive undersea car sized cables filled with a few arms thick of hair thin fibre optics which is cheapest clear resin enamels plastics about $3 not sure if USD per kilometer and resembles modern glass/glazing. How does anybody steal that stuff without people noticing like you cant just load it onto a truck and drive away? or a boat? if only satellites and some sort of defense organization existed to prevent us from being impersonated or whatever.. So now in australia ANYTHING with words like gigabit costs a fortune for a mainboard or switch or ethernet hub.. but the ancient 1900s 10/100 telephone land line wires of ethernet 10/100 clock in at a whopping 13 or so mhz sometimes 27.. and 60 or more mhz for like gigabits and whatever it increases shockingly fast with each mhz clock cycle as its units of work over time in nano seconds or zeptoseconds you see billionths of a second nano second RAM and PC with windows realtime kernel actually uses like ryzen hardware negative latency faster than reality freely syncing with any device in the universe and fixed mhz frequency bus can drive like 50 to 100 or thousands of GPU's and HDDs and monitors or whatever from the one modern multicore PC or whatever.. 90s AMD business server still holds world records for most connected devices though it had stackable CPUs opteron and would have used infinity cache type stuff probably software 3dnow and evolving game worlds tech of 80s and 90s AMD gaming evolved advertising.
So in australia anything gigabits costs hundreds of dollars for a switch router some thousands for lots of ports.. but its the shittiest weakest bandwidth ever with mhz and performance miles short of a raspberry pie or whatever. I had to pay a fortune for a mainboard with 10gigabit LAN port and everytime i got a high speed LAN port its been broken or missing so some pricks can sell ebay routers or switches for thousands here.. not knowing why its so expensive is youre paying fortunes for any real bandwidth because australia has to pay literal somalian pirates for their internet connections or privately owned businesses like telstra for access to their private links and glares at countries like new zealand and hawaii for being super technologically superior.. a cheap USB ethernet adaptor costs under 10 bucks on ebay or whatever and is maybe gigabit and your switches and routers 90% of the time you want the cheapest UNMANAGED switch possible. Yet the mainboard i recently purchased ASUS pro art creator x670E i recall had an issue with some asshats trying to steal pathetic measly 40gigabit USB4 chips from all the boards at the computer store to sell on EBay as other junk, when anything in the universe with an M.2 ULTRA slot does 40gigabits since PCI express 3.0/4.0 as PCI express 3.0 SSD drives famously use a specific I/O controller chip which gives them 38gigabits of the ultra M.2 slots 40gigabits of bandwidth. But for a couple years when AMD had pci express 4.0 and better than M.2 ultra intel was playing catch up on PCI express 3.0 and still had regular m.2 in all their boards until AMD was ready for pci express 5.0 my friend on intel bought the same NVME drives and complained they had corruption errors or issues i later learned his board wasnt fast enough and he was maybe trying to use the samsung magician RAM disk and enable NVME features and functions intel maybe did not yet support.
So.. why is USB 4 so many years late and why is it so dang expensive when terabits of ethernet or anything optical is like the cheapest stuff ever and comes with every internet connection since the 90s at the lowest cheapest mhz and 1900s land line wire telephones ever, remember digital isnt a physical thing and everythings literally analog with a sensor or multimeter whatever mathematically translating it to a graph or algebra equation mapping it into different values digitally +10 -10 whatever using microphones or camera sensor whatever. the gigabits tax and uhh LAN port taxes for dumb gay australians being literally see it via satellite outerspace levels dumb and gay astrogaylian should not apply to the cheapest of raspberry pie free 3d print or laser CNC yourself something computery like risc V for the cheapest of USB flash drives or memory cards etc.
I get intel pretends to have invented court ordered USB to probe their hardware after it was proven to have used other peoples code and chips by the chip makers and them selling computers with keyboard and mouse hardwired in so you bought a whole new computer when a key broke on the keyboard couldnt replace them.. and every other device had USB but theirs didnt free open standard and it kinda being the only way to connect any device in the universe and freely sync with it (mics/phones whatever).
why is 1900s phone tech ethernet so dang expensive to go from 20mhz ranges to 80 or whatever mhz ranges or use something very similar to 90s optical audio SPDIF output or anything remotely like a laser in australia? and who would be dumb and gay enough to be so financially retarded as to think that USB 4 was expensive or special as to steal it? am i... missing something?
also before you complain, but ethernets not the same as USB you cant power over ethernet or use your houses electrical wires as ethernet. You also cant use ethernet for monitors or displays, and its not like you can extend HDMI range limit of a about 10 to 15 meters by swapping its ethernet wires with optical ones for it to maintain its HDMI 0 latency spec or type C USB 0 latency spec. USB lets you connect heaps of devices you cant do that with an internet or ethernet for things like keyboard and mice or monitors or whatever. I understand what you mean power over ethernet or PPOE standards suck theres no way those are a thing. using devices over the internet and not the intranet who does that? thats so dumb. remote administration, theres no such thing youre mistaking malware or rootkits im sure. you cant connect a heap of devices up or entire computers to a ethernet port thats the dumbest gayest thing i've ever heard in my entire life! My gaydar is going off and it looks like the wifi symbol.
when trying to use anything ethernet with lame awful bandwidth thats limited, on my AMD board where the website images show AMD ethernet lists as marvel yukon controller i cannot use as its maybe broken there no light on the back, in devices managers advanced tab you can see the send receive or transmit buffer sizes and countless other ethernet settings are MISSING or a blank space. and are limited to 128 on send and 256 on receive up to 4096 or whatever max. But low latency 128 or 256 is maybe best but not all are an option and most networking features on the intel LAN adapters are missing countless advanced ethernet properties and settings because they're fake and lousy and the worst latency ever and they literally seem to swap your windows kernel out with something not realtime so you cannot ever hope to record or playback audio or video or anything close to a video game in hopes of slowly selling it back to you. Linux distros did this too its the dumbest thing ever that to hear or record or playback or play games you must patch in a realtime kernel for free to game like its the 80s and 90s or DOS or whatever. most 90s PCs were CAS 1 or lower nanoseconds. DDR 3 1600mhz depending the maker might be CAS1-4 latency. How can we verify our kernels are correct? and our ethernet and I/O bandwidth is correct? the youtube video about linus tech tips dream hack lan party of gamers in sweden was edited and reuploaded by illiterate asshat buttpirates maybe from somalia or the ones randsoming us some of their internet connections as a proxy piggy back on the international links as we dont have a defense force or army or whatever and dont know what war crimes are or why they are or what the heck a bank is and sure as shit dont know the cost of anything cheap USB or LAN. The dreamhack linus video falsely shows as 6TERABIT. they wanna steal 2TERABITS of EVERY optical or ethernet devices which isnt the government doing it if they wanna see whats in your computer they can document their reasons of why which is what a warrant is they dont need one if they believe a crime is occuring and literally take the computer by law to inspect it then give it back when nothings wrong they leave you a claim ticket and have you document it at the nearest policing station or whatever fill out forms sign 'they are taking my PC and i can get it back when it wasnt used for crimes." when australia doesnt technically have an internet and doesnt technically have RAID arrays which is required to use USB or SSD or NVME or storage tech with no moving parts and multicore a 2TB SSD is twice as fast and often has 2x 1TB wafer chips in there figure it out the IO controller chip supports many and you can buy the cheapest USB sticks with like 16terabytes of storage space i just see a $extend folder or uhh file format header thingy in the partition in my mainboard bios on that particular drive and using any cheap SSD or USB devices makes linux cry about the partition managers cant write or read extending past the storage limit. it doesnt take a genius to figure out what dumb gay fags the whole internet is.

2024.05.15 04:09 MousseSensitive4044 ASK AND THOU SHALL RECEIVE!!! Unorthodox Gameplay 4: The Kitchen is on fire!

For context, I post cool teams that I made using some underplayed path or tactic, and on the last one, Unorthodox Gameplay 3 : Monarchnesis, a fellow user u/Alexandergus (COME, SAY HI TO EVERYONE) asked me to build a team with not only Anamnesis, but Berserker Helion as well... And as the title says : ASK AND THOU SHALL RECEIVE
Sidenote: If there's too much text for your liking, dear reader, feel free to skip to the summary part down bellow ;)
So, with that out of the way, let's get to strats!

Occultist

I took inspiration on a setup that ShuffleFM (Darkest Dungeon youtuber, twitch streamer and really good reference) showcased on one of his teams. The concept is that you have a Virtuoso Jester using Encore on Occultist, which proceeds to Chaotic Offering on his bonus turn, generating an Unlimited Power Token(UP). After that, when the regular Occ turn rolls in, he gets the second UP because of the turn start effect, which he originally used to nuke someone with Warlock's Burning Stars turn 1; on my case is to perform Aspirant Anamnesis and open the first turn with a really strong cleave, I also run Burning Stars as an option for larger enemies like size 2s or bosses.

Jester

As for the Jester, since I'm basing my entire schtick on Encore, I'm also running Solo and Finale. That's because you can actually use the dazed in your favor and the cooldowns sync. EG: Encore turn 1 > gets dazed and pushed to last turn 2 action order > Solo > Forward 3> gets Speed token and Jester, specially Virtuoso is really fast > goes first on turn 3 > uses Finale > Back 3 and dazed >If encounter's still going, Encore and Repeat. I topped him with Inspiring Tune for Stress heal (literally the best in the game) and Razor's Wit for poke.

Helion

Now let's talk about Helion. She likes the cleave since it helps her kill rank 4 in 1 turn with Iron Swan, specially ordained and modified enemies like elite and sturdy, not only that but as she's Berserk and is at Rank 1, I run Bleed Out as a strong option after I dealed with the backline; Bleed Out doesn't even have a cooldown, it "just" grants you winded tokens, which means you can spam it to stack monstrous bleeds. I just did act 3 and had 18 bleeds on the last phase for 5 turns (I crited). Another synergy is that after you cast Burning Stars at a chonky target, it gets combo; Bleed Out on Berserker on a combo tarket has 63% BLEED PIERCING. It's basically guaranteed (unless you're using this on Warlord, this bastard has 100 base... He's a VERY good reason to not go overboard on bleeds; not only that but if your whole team wants to bleed someone, you'll end up fighting for the same trinkets). For the rest of her kit, I had Toe to Toe for Taunt, Rooted and movement, Adrenaline Rush for heals and Bloodlust for really long fights and as an alternative to remove Winded tokens that isn't dependent on Adrenaline Rush's health threshold AND grants 30% more damage against bleeding targets. With Jester Encore, you can mix a ton of good sequences, specially in later stages of the fight, granting Helion bonus actions, for example stacking Bleed Out faster, or clearing winded with Bloodlust/ Adrenaline Rush/Toe to Toe+ and then hitting again with Bleed Out.

Plague Doctor

And to stitch the team together, I chose Plague Doctor as the Rank 4 hero, but not any Plague Doctor; Physician. I managed to weld together Physician, Anamnesis and Bleed Out and it's ...GOOD? The thing with Physician is that, except for Magnesium Rain that has a cooldown of 3 turns, she doesn't have a damaging skill to use. Instead, her supportive capabilities are enhanced, and they're great with this team because she provides much needed utility with crowd control, corpse clearing, heals and offensive tokens.
Usefulness Utility listed bellow!

Maps

For regions, try to prioritize the Shroud, for the bleed trinkets for Helion and Ocultist and other trinkets for the Jester, like Seamen's Boots and Compass.
Defensive trinkets on Helion aren't bad either, since she's gonna eat 80% of the hits thrown at her, so Tangle isn't a bad choice. Burning Stars ignores Block and Blinding Gas can help by "dodging" some heavy hitting moves.
Sprawl can be okay because of burn trinkets that can up the usefulness of Mag. Rain and speedy trinkets for Jester
Foetor is the lowest priority map to go, literally no one wants blight buffing trinkets and you even risk getting your heroes sick; I'd go if the map mission grants a good reward but that's about it.

Lair Boss matchups

Pets

They are pretty flexible on this team. I like the Rabbit here since everyone has trouble tanking hits, so the bonus HP goes a long way if you get it rolling(HMMM FLAPJACKS). Some good optins are: - The Tick to get the blood for guaranteed crit tokens and huge damage and bleeds - The Owl helps the debuffs from PD to stick and can provide good flow of Combat Items - The Pliskin can be good since the team is squishy and can use more sustain between fights - The Slime if you like running over debris and don't want to deal with negative tokens - This last one is highly experimental and I still have to test it, but it got to my attention that Larval Carrion Eater can be good as a Crit token Generator, specially since Anamnesis cleaves the whole party. On turn 2 you'd have only 1 UP at your turn which means you can either heal or Sac Stab something. If you have Stab+, you can use it on a corpse, kill it, generate another UP, heal 30%, gain a Block Token and a Crit token for next round, and on that round you'll have 3 UPs at your disposal to spend. This translates to 2 Anamnesis / Burning Stars casted on sequence, since you would spend 2 on this turn, and you would generate another one at the beginning of your next turn. Try this at your own courage and peril (and tell me the results later!)

Summary of the team:

Rank 4: Physician Plague Doctor
Emboldening Vapors Disorienting Blast Battlefield Medicine Blinding Gas* Magnesium Rain*
You can swap these with: Indiscriminate Science+ (heals without limited uses, good for Act 5), Ounce of Prevention for DOTS and disease prevention, Cause of Death+ if you want to nuke some large target that has a ton of bleed stacked into it, after Jester's Finale, you can use since he moves you into rank 3
Rank 3: Virtuoso Jester
Encore Solo Finale Inspiring Tune Razor's Wit
Rank 2: Aspirant Ocultist
Chaotic Offering Anamnesis Burning Stars Sacrificial Stab* Wyrd Reconstruction*
You can swap one of these with Binding Shadows if you're worried about shuffles, on Aspirant it moves you Forward 1 and can generate you a stack of UP
Rank 1 : Berserker* Helion
Iron Swan Toe to Toe Bleed Out Adrenaline Rush Bloodlust*
You can swap Bloodlust with: Raucous Revelry for a heal not dependant on limited uses, stress heal, and on upgrade, DBR Wicked Hack for better damage at rank 2 Breakthrough for Shuffles
As for the * on Berserker, is just that maybe it's a good idea changing the path depending on which act boss you're going against; the ones that came to mind are act 2 and 3. Vs act 2, Bleed Out gets absolutely no value so there's no reason to run Berserker, I'd recomend changing to Ravager for easier management of the lungs. You can also change to Carcass to better deal with high damage since apart from this path she doesn't generate blocks; I had her take every inn item I could buy to give her a better chance at survivability against the Focused Fault, but even then I got a few Deathblow checks; would recommend either running Cause of Death on PD with Berserker, or changing to Carcass to tank with Yawp. I'd also recommend not running Bloodlust if you're running Cause of Death on PD, since it clears all DOT for instant damage, making your turn go to waste, in this case just use Toe to Toe+ to get rid of Winded.
phew... this took a WHILE. Feel free to ask any questions about the team and tell me if you'd want some help with a specific path you'd like to play. ASK AND THOU SHALL RECEIVE
Heheh, have a good one! PS: I'm going straight to bed, but I'll try to answer you guys tomorrow. Good night!

Now for games that don't crash are Valheim, Minecraft, Rocket League, Dying Light, and Borderlands 3.
My CPU I believe is the issue as this happened when I built my new PC. My old ryzen 7 and mobo went to the gutter as they fried. So I built the PC I have now and the ram and GPU are the same. The I9 will get to 100C on stress test while only getting a score of 12500ish Marks. It will get all three errors depending on what settings I am using but the main one that will show up no matter what my settings are changed to is the Thermal Throttling.
What Ive done,
I just fixed my cooling being set as a watercooler for some reason so I changed it to a tower cooler. I have tried every game fix I have found on google so I don't believe it has to do with the games themselves but my hardware instead but I'm not 100% as everyone knows things can always be finicky, but I doubt that many games would have issues related to themselves and not hardware. I have tried many different settings in my Intel ETU. I ran memtest several times and had no ram issues as well. I am willing to try anything at this point as the crashing of games has gotten to be very obnoxious and out right have me stop playing some of them.
Please help me in anyway, I can try anything and will add more pictures or information as needed ( not sure really whats needed as this is my first post). Thankyou for your help!

UPDATE:
on cinebench r23 I tested it and got 33189 points instead of what I was getting on Intel ETU. Still doesn't change my overheating issue though.

2024.05.15 03:56 DankMagic7 He was so mad!

He was so mad!
I've been using this same load out for almost two years now, mostly playing S&D within that span. The competitive gap is vastly different from any other game mode. If you're outnumbered, that's just part of the risk of queing in. It's like playing Rocket League singles. That's the best way I can describe it at least. Needless to say, I've gotten quite good at using the shotgun, crossbow and tomahawk. With the perks Gung-ho, Dead Silence and either Lightweight or Flak Jacket (depending on map) so I'm always moving forward, hoping to close the distance on sniper users.
I didn't record the beginning rounds 8 of the gameplay but it started out with my team down 2-1. After I made a couple of clutch comebacks we were back in it at 3-4, that's when this dude started to accuse me of cheating/hacking. Which I definitely was not doing. My build is a hip fire build, I just run & gun but I've gotten really good at movement because one split second between the crosshairs is all someone needs to dome my head from across the map. I just found it hilarious because the game before I was playing with someone and our entire rest of the team amounted to less than half our kills and we lost 2-5. We were both complaining about it in the chat. So in this game I was fed up and locked in.
After we cameback and tied it at 4-4 I decided to catch the last glimpse of the round, win or lose it didn't matter. I just wanted to share my quick P.O.V because it really was my best performance to date. Most of it came from the fact that I wanted to prove to this player that I indeed was the best player in that lobby. To rub it in his face. He can accuse me of being a hacker or cheater all he wants but until he's put as much time into it as I have, he can sit right there on the losers card.
I simply had a good game was all.

2024.05.15 03:52 fallsmeyer [Destiny 2] [Radeon GPU] Broccoli errors showing up during Zero Hour in the Tower Plaza

[Minor enemy spoilers for Zero Hour - Destiny 2 ahead]
So I was working on playing through Zero Hour now that it's launched, and every time i've gotten to the tower plaza and engage the Brig, I wind up having a full blown graphics driver crash as a result. It's not an immediate crash either, it takes about 2-5 minutes to kick into a full blown crash.
Rig details (Pretty sure this a graphical setting or quirk in the mission, but covering bases)
Windows 10 Pro - Ver 22H2, build 19045.4291
Ryzen 9 7900X
64gb DDR5-6000 mhz ram (clocked as such)
Power color Radeon RX-7900XTX Red Devil Edition - Display Driver - 24.4.1
The game is running on a secondary Samsung 970 pro nvme and not a harddrive (over 25% of its drive space is free).
Game is running at Ultra/Max settings at 4k and has been for about 300 hours over the last few weeks.
I'm mainly curious if anyone else has been experiencing this problem at that point in the mission or if it's just me. I've been able to replicate it at that specific area twice. What's also curious is that even when not in a voice channel, Discord also shuts off during the display driver crash. I am unsure if this is related or not, but it does leave destiny stuck in a hung state that requires me to kill it from the Task manager.

2024.05.15 03:51 Kelly3463 Gaming PC Building First Time

I'm building a gaming PC for the first time. This is what I have so far. I had some help from buildapc. I decided to switch the PSU from what I had originally. Does it still work with the rest of the components? Thoughts, advice, and opinions? Also, I need help deciding on a good monitor. Some of the games are shooter, competitive, and adventure-type on PC.
I originally had "Be quiet! Straight Power 12 1000 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply". I switch to MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

2024.05.15 03:44 f22raptor-2005 Decent budget build

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Just gaming, games like fallout 4, cyberpunk, GTA, battlefield, etc
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
500 to 650 USD
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Probably in a few weeks
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
I just need a suggestion for a good office keyboard, something not expensive but also not junk, emphasis on not jank since the last one I owned wouldn't register clicks half the time
Also the monitor isn't necessary, I have a screen currently and can easily buy one locally
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Libya, specifically benghazi.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
I'm not sure what reusing implies here but I'm gonna assume it means using old parts, the only PC part I have rn is a mouse so that's the only one I'll reuse.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Probably down the line yeah, but as far as I know I won't be overclocking right away
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
SSD HAS to be 500 gb or up, and I preferably want either a 2060, 5700xt or a 6600 GPU and a 5 3600 CPU
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I don't care about the case as long as its sturdy
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Nah, I have my own "means" of getting a copy

2024.05.15 03:40 Zlatan-Agrees Which heroes to spam to climb from low MMR?

(Repost because forgot pics.)
Which heroes to spam to climb from low MMR?
I'm mostly playing unranked and my Winrate sits at 50.11% (see pics). I'm pretty new to Dota with around 300-400 games (50 ranked games) that i Played. I want to climb out of herald/guardian. Right now im spamming clinkz and PA. I understand their power spikes and which items to buy, i can get a lot of Kills and push T1 and T2 towers solo almost, but after that i fall off. I feel like I don't contribute much in lategame teamfights. I can burst someone down very fast but after that i die instantly because the enemy put wards and dusts everywhere.
With PA my Winrate sits at 40%. Sometimes i can snowball hard and kill 2-4 people in a fight and push towers and sometimes i die instantly (probably enemy countered me).
So my question: should i be able to climb MMR with these heroes or is it better to Learn other ones? I'm experimenting with some tankier heroes like bristleback and CK and i found good success with them because the enemy just can't kill me and my team can push easier BUT im also more reliant on the team which is probably not ideal given I'm in low rank and everyone does what they want. Maybe that's better than get many kills?
Pics: total games, recent games clinkz, recent games PA, recent games all. Don't want to post my steam account but i can send screenshots if needed.

2024.05.15 03:24 TaranMatharu Fromland defence strategy - Attack on Titan airlocks

Fromland defence strategy - Attack on Titan airlocks
https://preview.redd.it/js1d3sqrai0d1.png?width=964&format=png&auto=webp&s=940c9230799d8be8906af8f56e94c8ee3f59460c
This is just a fun thought exercise, and is probably beyond the scope of what the traumatised, confused and dejected folks in the town could achieve. But if one takes a maximalist approach to safety, the below might be a good way to do it.
There are 12 talismans in the town. Their options are colony house, the various town houses, the clinic, the bar, the barn, the diner, the church and probably a few more I'm missing.
To maximise the usefulness of the Talismans, we can use them strategically instead of scattering them across town. To do this, one needs the largest seal, that can then be subdivided into layers of defence. That is Colony House.
The first principle, would be to make several "air-locks" of access, much like the Attack on Titan city does. Of course they'd have to do construction to do this - deconstructing the walls inside and reconstructing them, as well as cannibalising the barn they rarely use for planks of wood and nails, and the rest of the town, one house at a time, for bricks, (bunk) beds, and most importantly, inner doors. Peepholes between zones and segments should come with every door.
The new Colony House would ultimately a place to go when the sun goes down, and sleep. It will also encourage everyone to sleep early and leave at first light, and return to the town, where the church and diner remain as gathering places, and most of the houses would remain relatively intact.
If using all the talismans and maximal division of space, it would in an ideal world would be concentric segmented circles with a talisman sealing each, ideally with doors in all segment adjoining walls, but only one door to pass beteen zones, far away from the door for the next zone so a monster has to go sideways through two rooms before it can go deeper - in the above scenario, to reach the centre the monsters need to get past 8 or 9 talismans. Only one way into the building in one of the pink segments, of course.
In case of fire or talismans losing their power, secret fire escapes known only to the leaders should be made, ideally down through the basement beneath rugs or through wardrobe bottom panels, and out through a concealed, locked hatch. Short term, sturdy locked doors can be inserted between more zones, but only one leader in each zone can have the key to those.
Fromland defence strategy - Attack on Titan airlocks
  • The central grey zone would be for the most vulnerable folks, the elderly and infirm, children, folks like Mr Liu.
  • The pink outer ring should only be occupied by those of sound mind, common sense and with good reason to protect their loved ones inside - and therefore least likely to be convinced to let the monsters in. Windows should be soundproofed as much as possible, and ideally boarded up with only a peep hole - this place is primarily for sleeping..
  • The green middle ring would have "gen pop" locked in for the night, unable to access the outside, nor the inside where the guns, food and innocents are.
  • The blue zone would have the strongest and most trusted, in case of a breach or betrayal of some kind, but this time with Doctors and those with essential skills sleeping there too, the emergency supplies, equipment and tools. This zone is accesible from both the centre and "gen pop" for medical emergencies among other things that might neccesitate a breach of protocol, whilst keeping the two separate, and giving these essential workers the second greatest level of protection.
In this way, the central zone does not become too overcrowded, and each room has at least one person sleeping and keeping guard within, in case talismans dont work when someone isn't there.
The above circular design is idealised and more illustrative - they would probably do their best to make use of existing structures and have realistic expectations for their abilities, so it would probably be more akin to boxes within boxes. Luckily, Jim is an engineer and seems to have some construction experience to help guide them.
Let's also assume we keep two talismans back too, so having one central zone, and then three layers of defense subdivided by three rooms each - 10 rooms total.
1 spare for an observation point on the roof, made from the window frames scavenged from the township, disconnected from the rest of the house. This would come with a smaller version of Jim's radio, so they can communicate with the inside without endangering them. It would also require an escape route if compromised, taking the talisman and using Victor's rope ladder to climb down into a waiting tent, or the escape van if there's no talisman to be used.
This is a necessary sacrifice, as with these new tactics, the monsters might also change their approach, like when they went from just screeching to talking their way in. It's good to keep an eye on their activities, and Boyd's binoculars are perfect for this - with his bell to ring to warn everyone to be on alert.
The coach should be stripped of seats to make bedding and more room for everyone to pile in, and moved beside Colony House as a safe place to retreat to in case of emergency, taking talismans from the walls as they leave the building. Jim's trailer should also be pulled out using the van if possible. Other larger vehicles should be dragged nearer too, for the same purposes.
The second is for emergencies, further exploration, and usually stays in the coach so any late arrivals have somewhere to go without risking letting them in - instructions should be left inside in detail and "SAFETY WITHIN" painted on the outside. Colony House has a cellar, and this should be the final line of defense and ideally located inside or adjacent to the center.
In the case of a full collapse and exits blocked, the occupants in the safe zone should have ample warning to retreat deeper underground with their talisman, this time with a door that locks and barricades in case of human traitors, and their weapons cache too. This is also where food would be stored. One could expand the living space even more here, should the need arise.
There is one big problem with all this though. The last time anyone did anything like this, what with the radio tower and Tabitha's hole, Fromland did not take too kindly, definitely collapsing one and likely destroying the other with a storm. Would the above be taken in the spirit of the game? I kinda doubt it! But it's fun to think about.

2024.05.15 02:53 AlarmingDebauchery Worthwhile build for less than $1400?

I built my current PC over a decade ago and am much overdue for an upgrade. I mostly am looking to play video games, and all I really do otherwise is browse and chat with friends on Discord. Not looking for anything fancy, just something that should run whatever game I want for the next 5 years or so. Is this good? The case and monitors will be scavenged from my old build, so I don't need those. Any advice is welcome. TIA!

2024.05.15 02:47 GoExpos Any feedback or concerns about this build?

This is mostly for Microsoft Flight Simulator, but I also work as a software developer and sometimes run Docker containers and virtual machines. I was tempted to go with the 7950X3D, but aside from gaming, I don't feel overly limited by my current 9900K so that's probably not needed.
I could go with the 850 W version of the power supply and save ~$50, but I'm not sure if I'm better off doing that or having more breathing room. According to PCPartPicker, my estimated wattage is 634 W.

2024.05.15 02:32 ProfessionalOil7301 first pc, gaming/school/coding. pls give advice/tips !

hello, im finally building my first pc. im trying to save as much money as i can but i also want to secure myself now so i dont have to upgrade anytime soon. imma be using it for school and coding, but thats easy to navigate a build for. so mainly im trying to get some advice for an optimal gaming experience. ive decided i for sure want 1440. i wanna be able to play AAA games comfortably, no sports games but some fps games here and there.
right now im on the rocks for my gpu. ive seen recommendations for the 4070ti, 6800xt, and the 7800xt. ill take whatever advice u have for any part of my build. mostly looking to improve/hopefully save unnecessary spending on my build👍
(case and monitor were chosen quickly. still gonna get back to those. ill take advice on those too if u have any)
