"When did you last speak with her?"
P14 Gordon asks Diane about her half sister Jane. 'speak' -- Peaks. Shortly before that, Albert told Tammy about Lois Duffy and mentioned that she did not have a twin sister (Tammy said 'conjured' alt 'conjoined;' an alt version of Duffys are twins? link to 'doubleheader in Vegas?'); so we have twin & alt 'speak' mentioned close together (alt 'Twin Peaks'). Twin alt 'twine' - Diane on the chair, alt bound like Laura was in the cabin? Finley's 'Fine' Twine, alt 'fair' city. The FBI room is alt Jacque's cabin? Gordon alt Jacques (alt Cousteau, alt team on underwater expedition, 'before I came up'), Albert alt Leo, Tammy alt Ronette. A couple times the trio were waiting for Diane to arrive ("Diane's on her way" P12 and P14), alt trio by the Corvette waiting for Laura; Diane when she came in talked about Cooper returning and raping her, Cooper is alt James and she's alt Laura? (visual with Cooper kissing Diane). So Diane & Cooper blend into the roles of James & Laura, FBI team alt the trio on the night of Laura's death. Gordon alt Jacques - 'high school sandwich,' P9 Gordon stands between Tammy and Diane, alt they are smoking outside the HS, Bill a HS principal is questioned in the next scene, Bobby linked directly to the TP HS in the previous scene, Lucy was just eating a giant sandwich; conference room alt a teacher's lounge, grown up Bobby alt the assistant principal (alt Betty) the assistant to Bill? Frank alt the principal? his office alt the principal's office? and a link between Bill Hastings and Frank Truman? more below.
FBI trio alt trio of Jacques (Gordon), Leo (Albert) & Ronette (Tammy). Waiting for Laura alt Diane 'on her way'; Diane sits on the chair alt 'bound' like Laura.
"The boys found this, on the floor in back of the Caddy."
Mulholland Dr., Detective Neal Domgaard played by Brent Briscoe (Dave Macklay) - his boys found a pearl earring inside the Cadillac at the scene of the car accident, belonging to Rita/Camilla. P1, Detectives Harrison and Macklay arrive to the Hastings home with 'the boys' and search Bill's house and car. Phyllis is not happy about it, turns to look inside and we get a long look at her pearl earring {Phyllis alt Rita? killed at her home, alt from the hit in MD; MrC alt the hitman "you did good...you follow human nature perfectly" cryptic comment, similar to Joe at Winkie's "when it's finished you'll find this where I told you."}. The other detective in MD, Harry McKnight, played by Forster (Frank Truman). P5 Frank's wife Doris storms into Hawk's office and complains and berates Frank about various issues at the house, she's alt Phyllis, Frank alt the husband? (in Bill's spot, see above). Macklay says that he knows Bill from high school alt Frank/Forster, his former partner whose prints were found at the crime scene and who he interrogates in P1? (Dave alt 'Neal Macklay'). Mack said Bill's prints were 'all over' Ruth's apartment. P9 Frank is given Garland's 'tube' by Betty, he touches all around it looking for a seam or button to open it (P11 Frank also touches Hawk's map, which had been rolled up like the notes inside the tube). 'Garland's tube' alt to 'Ruth's apartment?' Former contains two notes, latter contained two partial bodies. Officers Olson and Douglas P1 needed help getting into Ruth's apartment, had to go back outside to find maintenance man Hank, alt Frank & Hawk need Bobby's help to open the tube, had to go back outside; an alt version of Bobby, maintenance man at the station? So [Garland's tube] is alt to [Ruth's apartment] (two rolled up notes inside the tube alt bodies; Hawk's map also was rolled up, alt a body? Frank touches it, link to P17 Cooper to Frank "don't touch that body!"). In MD, there's another Ruth (Elms), the girls stay at her apartment and bring back another strange device that opens like the tube - the blue box. Betty, like Frank and the tube touches it all over (a different Betty gave Frank the tube) (maps - Betty & Rita look at a map before going to Sierra Bonita alt Frank & Hawk looking at the map before going to Jack Rabbit's, both scenarios involve long walks leading to bodies - the corpse or Naido; alt - Naido is a map? ("she's alive" alt to Hawk's map being a 'living entity') merges with MrC at death in P17 ("don't touch that body!") (who was also at the same site where Naido was found in P17, before he went to the station) going backwards into the story (like getting rolled back up into a 'map'; alt a rug, Frank Lebowski alt).
Garland's 'tube' alt the blue box in MD. Frank touches it all over link to prints all over Ruth's apartment.
What's inside the blue box? We see a black void, link to the black symbol on Hawk's map? (might be alt Judy's, where Cooper goes P18, alt he was following the map, curiosity alt 'Caddy?' version where he arrives in a Cadillac in place of the Lincoln Towncar (link to the Chevy dealership P5); link to Blue Velvet, Kyle's character was just 'really curious;' killed the cat, Judy alt a cat? black?). Alt - the blue box was found by Macklay's boys at the crime scene (in MD the box ends up in Ruth's apartment and in P1 the crime scene is also in a Ruth's apartment); scenario where Macklay has it but can't open it? P1 Constance running prints at her computer, monitor black and blue background alt it's the box itself? (Rita's fingers alt Constance's in the POV shot) (the box also analyzes things? link to the glass box in the same part, [computer processing softly] in captions, Tammy is paired with Macklay P11 brining coffee and donuts, alt Tracey with Sam, Mack has the box alt Sam and the glass box; computeequipment also linked to the FBI's hotel room, inside of Diane's purse POV alt inside the box; inside/out in flux?). Constance, besides running analyses, holds Garland's body, alt there's a body inside the box? (layer collapses - with no Constance, the box itself = a body? link to Betty vanishing in a collapsed layer? corresponds with Frank finding the tube, no Betty? maybe merged with Hawk, alt finding the tube inside something in place of the pages). Rita opens the box in MD - numerous parallels between her and Cooper from the perspective of Watts (Betty or Janey-E), alt it's who Cooper opens it? (Pilot: Cooper and Harry in the conference room try to open Laura's diary, which was hidden in her bedroom alt the box hidden in Ruth's bedroom closet, but no key for the diary, so Dale just breaks its open, link to P9 and the tube which they couldn't open. Opening the box sends him to Judy's (possible link to the map symbol) and combines his 'head' with Garland's body? He wakes up at the hospital in Las Vegas (female doctor alt Constance overseeing Garland's body in Buckhorn) ('Headley' alt to 'Macklay?' LV vs Buckhorn versions; Headly signifies a 'head' level of the story? Mack signifies a 'truck' level, or world? world of truck 'drivers' alt doppelgangers? Cooper P2 looks out of the red room and sees his doppelganger (who is 'in Buckhorn') driving, alt a truck).
Two mountain peaks behind clouds in P5 alt Blue Pine Mountain & White Tail Peak? The cross symbol alt the Chevy logo. Cooper P18 alt driving (in 'Caddy' in place of Towncar) looking for Judy's alt black symbol on the map.
Blue box alt Constance's computer; black and blue. Macklay alt has the box from the crime scene.
Summary: Macklay (alt Neal) and his boys find the box at the crime scene from P1, old partner's prints (alt Frank) are on it, Cooper (alt Lt Knox) arrives to investigate and alt to him and Harry in S1 and the diary in the conference room (and link to Hawk's map and the 'Judy' symbol also in the conference room), he opens it using force, transports him to a world where he's the 'head' that combines with someone else's body (which was inside or represented by the box). Since Ruth Davenport's head is combined with Garland's body in P1, is Cooper is alt 'Ruth?' [Both Ruths are red haired like Lt Knox (also like Linney James who walked down the hallway at Universal Studios like Cindy Knox at the morgue in Buckhorn), alt Cooper in her spot who was sent by Gordon alt Col Davis?]. Ruth link to 'Roth' (Tim)? Hutch in P9 parallels the maintenance man Hank in P1 (both have mystery bags and stand by trucks); maintenance man also alt Bobby who broke open the box outside with force alt using tools, in place of Dale in the conference room forcing open the diary. {P5 Doris "I told you this!" link to 'Soulja Boy I told you' (soak link), Crank That; next scene P5 a boy Sonny Jim alt Soulja (dance link to Teach Me How To Dougie); Cooper P4 alt a maintenance man in the Jones kitchen fixing something? links between Briggs and Jones houses (visual 1 and visual 2); Garland mentions his soul when he went to the white lodge, returns home in S2 parallel to Cooper P18. So 'soul' linked to the Jones house and Cooper's presence there, alt Ruth/Roth}. Alt to a simple head & body (opener of box and box) - soul and body? Or soul and mind? Alt - a golden box represents a soul? (close to the cardboard box in P11?). Box or cube alt to the spherical 'seed?' The vehicle (shape like box or tube) represents a physical body, inside it (alt an apartment) or merged with the soul; which is 'opened' by a 'mind'? P17 - Gordon says that Jeffries was on to Judy (alt looking the place indicated by the black symbol on the map) and that Garland and Cooper were also onto Judy. Jeffries no longer exists, at least not in the normal sense, alt he lost his mind? Cooper takes over as the 'mind' (or alt curiosity) who combines with the soul (Garland) to continue the quest for Judy? A story with Cooper alt Roth, literal maintenance man, fixes something in the Jones house/kitchen (link to Hawk stopping by to check in on and help Sarah who is a widow), has or acquires the soul of her late husband? 'Mend' (to repair) alt 'mind'; Cooper following in the footsteps of Jeffries, literal repair man in the body of Roth/Hutch alt 'apartment' of Ruth ('story' alt body; two stories alluded to by Charlie, link to "3 bodies?" Lorraine, alt 3 stories?). Summary 2: repair main has or acquires the soul of late husband, falls in love with a widow, named Judy? Flip side: curiosity killed the cat, named Judy, black cat? (alt the bum in MD?) Like a black trap that a curious person falls into; alt scenario - Cooper (alt Jeffery, in BV?) digs up dirt on the girl he's falling for, which ends up killing the romance? Link to Diane in S3 "none of your fucking business" she's alt Sandy if the romance with Jeffery didn't pan out.
Hallway walks, Lt Knox parallels Linney James.
-P9 outside in the parking lot Bobby throws the tube against the ground, police cars blue and black in the lot link, to the blue box in MD (black void inside), 'throwing' link to the Mitchums (Bradley doesn't trust that rat fuck Anthony as far as he can throw a car), Frank & Hawk alt the brothers who can't open the box; Candie alt Bobby their sidekick, link to Castigliane Brother; Bobby alt or 'Bobby Mitchum?' (brothers Brad & Rod, B & R, alt Betty and Rita?). Mitchums place P10, has pool alt to Adam's house on MD, alt they have the blue box or something similaalt and can't open it? (gold box? similar to the cardboard box Cooper brings P11, alt he's the tool man who helps them open it).
Mitchum brothers alt Frank & Hawk; or alt 'Bobby Mitchum' opens the device (alt a box), Brad & Rod, B & R, alt Betty & Rita? Cooper P11 brings the cardboard box and it's opened, alt helps them open a box?
-P9, Dave Macklay walks at the morgue and tells Albert details around the body (alt Gerard walks with Cooper), says Ruth's head was 'atop' the body of Major Briggs. 'atop' alt stop, link to Richard, alt Richard and Linda as the body & head? Richard and Linda - 'ra' and 'la' missing a 'u' to make 'Laura?' alt version where Laura is found dead in bed in her room? Pete finds corpse in the Pilot, alt he's her younger brother? "oh dear" calls the sheriff etc. parents not home, on road trip alt Gordon (alt Garland) and Diane (alt wife Betty) traveling P9 ("is it alright if we make a short trip to Buckhorn"), daughter alt 'Laura Briggs?' The 'U' - link to Silver Mustang? (casino logo is a horseshoe, U). P5, Lucy 7 Insurance L/R with 'u' (alt casino - transition P5 from agency to casino; Mitchum Brothers MB alt Bushnell Mullins BM), with a conference room alt the station P4 (Laura's case evidence spread out). Conference room links to bedroom - rolled up map alt rug in Ruth's, where Dale opens the diary (and where the tube is not opened) alt the blue box.

What Is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)?

In the landscape of assisted reproductive techniques, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) emerges as a transformative method, providing hope for countless couples grappling with fertility obstacles. In India, IVF has emerged as a beacon of reliability for those longing to start a family. This procedure involves the intricate fusion of eggs and sperm within a laboratory environment, fostering fertilization under controlled conditions. The ensuing embryos undergo vigilant monitoring and nurturing until they reach the critical blastocyst stage of development. Subsequently, these embryos are cryopreserved until the opportune moment for transfer into the woman's uterus.

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) stands as a beacon of hope for couples in Thane, especially when traditional methods prove insufficient. Dr. Rita Modi, acclaimed as Thane's leading IVF expert, supervises the intricate process at our IVF services in Thane clinic. Initial Consultation: Embark on your IVF journey with a personalized consultation with Dr. Rita Modi, a seasoned IVF doctor . Here, she thoroughly evaluates your medical history, discusses fertility concerns, and tailors treatment options to suit your needs.
Ovarian Stimulation: The process begins by stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. Over 8-14 days, hormone injections are administered to encourage follicle growth, closely monitored through ultrasound scans and blood tests.
Egg Retrieval: Once the follicles are mature, the egg retrieval process takes place. Under sedation, eggs are delicately retrieved from the ovaries using a thin needle guided by ultrasound, a procedure typically lasting 20-30 minutes.
Sperm Collection: Concurrently, on the same day as egg retrieval, the male partner provides a sperm sample, or in certain cases, earlier sperm retrieval procedures are conducted.
Fertilization: In the laboratory, retrieved eggs are fertilized with sperm using conventional IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Embryologists meticulously oversee the fertilization process, which spans 16-20 hours.
Embryo Culturing: Embryos are cultured in a controlled environment for 3-5 days, undergoing cell division. The highest-quality embryos are then selected for transfer.
Embryo Transfer: Typically, 3-5 days after egg retrieval, the chosen embryos are transferred into the uterus in a swift, painless procedure without anesthesia.
Progesterone Support: Post-embryo transfer, progesterone supplements may be prescribed to bolster the uterine lining and embryo implantation.
Pregnancy Test: Approximately 10-14 days following embryo transfer, a pregnancy blood test determines the outcome, with a positive result indicating successful implantation.
Pregnancy Monitoring: Upon confirmation of pregnancy, regular monitoring and ultrasound scans track fetal development.
The duration of IVF varies for each individual, influenced by factors such as ovarian response and embryo development. Typically, a single IVF cycle in Thane spans 4-6 weeks from ovarian stimulation to pregnancy testing.

2024.04.29 02:26 Atoraxic Linguistic Analysis of Online Communication About a Novel Persecutory Belief System (Gangstalking): Mixed Methods Study

Here is a passive study of us from posts we have made. I certainly didn't post this to frustrate anyone as we certainly have way more than our share of that. I posted it so that you can see a write up of a study of the rhetoric used by people talking about these crimes on the internet. It also gives a few outsiders, that have shown enough interest to complete this work about us, opinions about what is happening.
I posted this so we can see their thoughts and opinions, look at a little analysis of the language we use when posting about our experiences, see some of the false delusion outsiders have, consider the delusions they feel we may have and as piece that can be included when determining the current state of things and how we can progress to having this all finally end.

Abstract

Background

Gangstalking is a novel persecutory belief system whereby those affected believe they are being followed, stalked, and harassed by a large number of people, often numbering in the thousands. The harassment is experienced as an accretion of innumerable individually benign acts such as people clearing their throat, muttering under their breath, or giving dirty looks as they pass on the street. Individuals affected by this belief system congregate in online fora to seek support, share experiences, and interact with other like-minded individuals. Such people identify themselves as targeted individuals.

Objective

The objective of the study was to characterize the linguistic and rhetorical practices used by contributors to the gangstalking forum to construct, develop, and contest the gangstalking belief system.

Methods

This mixed methods study employed corpus linguistics, which involves using computational techniques to examine recurring linguistic patterns in large, digitized bodies of authentic language data. Discourse analysis is an approach to text analysis which focuses on the ways in which linguistic choices made by text creators contribute to particular functions and representations. We assembled a 225,000-word corpus of postings on a gangstalking support forum. We analyzed these data using keyword analysis, collocation analysis, and manual examination of concordances to identify discursive and rhetorical practices among self-identified targeted individuals.

Results

The gangstalking forum served as a site of discursive contest between 2 opposing worldviews. One is that gangstalking is a widespread, insidious, and centrally coordinated system of persecution employing community members, figures of authority, and state actors. This was the dominant discourse in the study corpus. The opposing view is a medicalized discourse supporting gangstalking as a form of mental disorder. Contributors used linguistic practices such as presupposition, nominalization, and the use of specialized jargon to construct gangstalking as real and external to the individual affected. Although contributors generally rejected the notion that they were affected by mental disorder, in some instances, they did label others in the forum as impacted/affected by mental illness if their accounts if their accounts were deemed to be too extreme or bizarre. Those affected demonstrated a concern with accumulating evidence to prove their position to incredulous others.

Conclusions

The study found that contributors to the study corpus accomplished a number of tasks. They used linguistic practices to co-construct an internally coherent and systematized persecutory belief system. They advanced a position that gangstalking is real and contested the medicalizing discourse that gangstalking is a form of mental disorder. They supported one another by sharing similar experiences and providing encouragement and advice. Finally, they commiserated over the challenges of proving the existence of gangstalking.

Introduction

Gangstalking is a novel persecutory belief system whereby those affected believe they are being followed, stalked, and harassed by a large number of people, often numbering in the thousands [1,2]. In contrast to traditional forms of stalking that are usually organized by a single person [3], those affected by gangstalking are unable to identify a single person responsible for their persecution and experience it as a widely distributed and coordinated effort of co-conspirators. People who identify as affected by gangstalking self-identify as targeted individuals.
Although specific experiences of gangstalking vary between those affected, the various expressions of this polythetic belief system include a number of common elements. In particular, the campaign of harassment that affected individuals perceive is frequently experienced as an accretion of innumerable individually benign acts such as people clearing their throat, muttering under their breath, or giving dirty looks as they pass on the street. Perceived as deliberate, connected, and malicious, intense distress is experienced as a cumulative effect of these acts over a prolonged period. Individuals affected by gangstalking are frequently unable to pinpoint a clear motive for the harassment, which is a further source of perplexity and distress. They frequently describe that the apparent goal is to make them appear mentally ill, to cause them to be discredited and disbelieved, and sometimes to encourage or precipitate their eventual suicide.
Interest in gangstalking is increasing over time and the popular press reports the activities of those affected with growing frequency [4-7]. As shown in Figure 1, the popularity of the Google search term gangstalking has increased steadily over the past decade [8]. When targeted individuals present to clinical attention, they are frequently diagnosed with psychotic illnesses and the gangstalking is conceptualized as a persecutory delusional system by psychiatric professionals. The gangstalking belief system is similar to some other well-established persecutory delusional belief systems, such as the Truman Show delusion [9], where those affected believe that their lives are surreptitiously being continuously recorded and produced into a reality television show and that everyone or nearly everyone they come into contact with is complicit in the deceit. As with many stigmatized beliefs [10,11], individuals affected by gangstalking reject the psychiatric formulation of their condition and turn elsewhere for support.

2024.03.27 21:18 Objective_Maize8669 The curious case of MD’s “dream theory”.

I used to be enamored with the movie because of the standard theory that we’re seeing Diane’s enigmatic, colorful dream play out in the front half of the movie and not got all into the deconstruction of it and everything.
But I think as I’ve changed as a person and grown, I just find this framework so empty and boring. I’m not of the widely held opinion that you “just need to let the Lynchian weirdness wash over you”, as if Lynch is not shaping his works by any conscious intellect. That’s just a cop out to me to not actively engage like you could stretch yourself to.
Something I find so fascinating is that people who know full well that the “dream” footage was a pilot still talk about it as if all these psychological clues/details were laid out by Lynch from the jump in terms of pertaining to Diane’s subconscious reshaping her life story. In the pilot those 2/3rds of our journey around LA was just supposed to be a heightened, stylized reality that took place in some form of a grounded realm that didn’t belong to anyone’s dreaming subconscious. Any of Lynch’s previous works show that he plays with these unreal realities that read as real in these cinematic worlds.
I think the reason why MD is so hugely popular is that with the dream theory you can seemingly have an unlimited amount of room to make connections between details, but it’s only done through projecting. The movie gives you a glossy, emotionally warmer 2/3rds that makes it appealing to watch, but then on rewatch you can think about its darker psychological undercurrent simultaneously because it’s a supposed dream and the images are just symbols in Diane’s head, and then the last half works as even more inchoate facets that give the illusion that they’re pieces to a puzzle.
The idea that the theory works as an optical illusion, that either part of the movie doesn’t tangibly imply what’s intangible underneath, inside, and around the scenes, is thrilling for people because they always feel as if there’s parts of the movie to connect and reconnect, that there’s a bigger mystery that will always be ineffable.
The major issue is that we don’t know enough about Diane’s emotional past in the “flashback” scenes. The whole dark, “hidden story” that she was sexually abused as a child and it fucked her up is never clearly laid out as a clue in her “waking life”. The movie becomes a boringly literal piece of Freudian dream work that never transcends the sum of its fantasized, projected parts. (People go on about the portrait of the abused woman, Adam catching his wife, the cowboy, the audition, etc as clues but it amounts to nothing - even if Lynch did intend a dream and sprinkled psychological clues the back half has no dramatic payoff except explaining her real life miserable personality which could have numerous roots beyond sexual abuse.)
As I’ve said, the pilot was never taking place from Diane’s dreaming mind, so these clues to some traumatized backstory mean nothing, because they aren’t clues for anything beyond understanding the workings/personalities of a spread of the eccentric characters we follow. I’ve heard people say that they keep finding layers and that MD Is one of the most intricate movies of all time, but I always feel like it’s the viewer creating their own fan fiction that makes this framework so thrilling for them. People want a mystery yet paradoxically want a grounded, excoriated portrayal of a character they can connect to because they too identify with movies melding with their identities.
I watched the movie again last night and I think it works on such a better level of two, mystical parallel realities overlapping or shifting that includes no dreaming. It makes the movie expansive, richer, and almost more practical in some ways, oddly enough, even as it deals with greater metaphysical abstraction than a Freudian dream.
However, I think because of this abstract, and more challenging approach to ontology and narratology, it was rejected by the masses for a dream interpretation that feels more satisfying because it’s more direct and streamlined. The lush, appealingly enigmatic surfaces of the first 2/3rds are explained away and given framework to more easily enjoy them. There’s more of a clear puzzle to rebuild when you make the two parts of the movie completely grounded in two psychological realities.
The parallel dimensions angle still can be accessed emotionally, and not just from Diane’s/Betty’s POV. What I love about the first, luminous section is that Adam is given steady development and made out, as scripted and played (very well by Theroux), into a sympathetic, if petulant character. There’s an intriguing, melancholic underpinning to his journey/arc in a more concise way than even Betty and Rita’s, and with this theory it’s individualized to Adam as a real person, not simply Diane’s dream shaping up a revenge narrative and supposedly using him as a symbolic stand-in for her abused self.
There’s way more limitless, rewarding possibilities for emotional and intellectual angles to be found with this paralleled framework, I feel, and it makes much more intuitive sense as well given we know that Lynch is guided by intuition, even as I do believe there’s not only intuition involved.
Also, the presence of the bum and the Cowboy alone make much more sense through this lens - why do we see a man at Adam’s party dressed like a cowboy? Why do we see the bum outside of her dream with toying with the blue box in what can’t be a flashback, and in the stylized red lighting? Would her conscious mind be really imagining the two crazy old people crawl out of the box and slip under her door to attack her? I’ve heard people try and justify the last example (they’re the judges of her disappointed grandparents? Again, why them? Wouldn’t it be more dramatically appropriate for it to be Aunt Ruth alone doing this if Diane was really imagining someone terrorizing her?)
(I don’t believe that someone’s head (if it absolutely is Diane) falling into a pillow and then seeing Diane waking up is the “gotcha” to wed the two parts to the dream theory as going by Lynch’s logic that just because we see the sequencing play out a certain way we shouldn’t be necessarily be considering it literally as to adhere to conventional movie logic that one scene is a direct continuation/consequence of what just came before.)
There’s a genuinely dark mystery in this general theory, with details and edges that can’t, possibly, ever be completely honed. I think this is the narrative angle Lynch wanted people to intuitively discover and explore given his fascination with with the inchoate and ineffable - the limitless energies between people, feelings, and ideas that might reveal profundity in the darkest of human shadows. I truly believe this is why Lynch crafted Inland Empire as deeply avant garde as he did, he was tired of the cut and dry, unimaginative dream theorizing of MD that never tapped into the metaphysical realms he’s always cherished expressing on film.
I think the other theories including soul wanderers, reincarnation, möbius strip, demonic deal making, etc are nearly as equally fascinating, and also expand the the bifurcated structure into being something more than the sum of its parts in a way the dream theory doesn’t in my view.
The two links below go into the generals of these theories, but I think scene by scene you can find facets that build off each other and steadily shape themselves in ways that interconnect with other threads, and during both parts of the movie be thinking how the two sections might overlap or why/how the dimensional shift happens and in what chronological order. I’m going to think about this more and do my own write up to post that might include an amalgamation of these theories with my own personalized thoughts.

https://www.mulholland-drive.net/theories/24.htm
This is a response to the famous 2002 Salon article that went a long way in immediately solidifying the dream theory in the cultural consciousness as the “correct” interpretation of events:
“One of the elements that has most attracted me to Lynch's work (I am a fan) is his ability to create films that make absolute sense, but on their own terms. I find the desire to attach such conventional devices as dream sequences and clearly defined point-of-view a common reaction to Lynch's work, but I don't think it yields the greatest rewards from the films.
Framing the "romantic" first portion of the film as a fever dream or fantasy of Diane's undercuts the brilliance with which Lynch constructs parallel realities, and misses the crucial distinction between conventional movie logic, and the altered logic that Lynch employs to deconstruct those Hollywood cliches, totems, and devices.
I think that forcing "Mulholland Drive" to conform to linear narrative logic of any kind is unhelpful, although, again, I found your attempts to do so impressive. The importance of these puzzles in Lynch's work is that they are, perhaps, unsolvable, and that is the very point. This deconstructionist approach is what allows the film to reach heights of brilliance in image and mood that are nearly unparalleled in contemporary American filmmaking. "Mulholland" plays by its own rules, like all of Lynch's puzzle films, and to read it by any other set of criteria results in a lessened sensory and emotional experience.”

2024.03.22 23:10 CP4-Throwaway Chris Brown singles that sound more McBling, Electropop, Core 10s, or even CovidTok

I'm gonna continue this compilation series with Chris Brown. He first came on the scene in the fall of 2005 with "Run It!" (both the album and the single) and became one of the most popular artists during the mid-late 2000s. He was still largely relevant up until the mid 2010s but had a few hit songs here and there up until 2019 or 2020 so I'll stop it there.
Here, I will see which of his songs lean toward either the McBling, Electropop, Core 10s, or even the CovidTok eras.
McBling Era
Not distinctly McBling or Electropop (a.k.a. "2K7")
Electropop Era
Not distinctly Electropop or Core 10s (a.k.a. "2K12")
Core 10s
Not distinctly Core 10s or CovidTok (a.k.a. "2K18")
CovidTok Era
That does it for this list.

Sarah Palmer vs Diane Selwyn; 'Carrie' and the Fireman's screen
Sarah & Diane
MrC is on a mission in S3 - he shows Darya the ace of spades card and then gathers coordinates to a portal that was to take him to the Palmer house (the Fireman later alters his destination). P12, Sarah at Keri's Mini Mart, 'Acer' monitor link to the ace of spades card? MrC is looking for Sarah Palmer or something inside of her or the house? {Sarah Palmer alt Sarah Connor, the Terminator, tasked to kill Sarah to prevent son from being born in the future, alt Laura? (UR + all - Laura; P16 links "you are awake" alt UR, Cooper that wakes is alt John Conner?) link to "goodbye my son" Richard another version of John, destroyed; alt storyline - BOB with Cooper end of S2, rapes and impregnates Sarah? reverse scenario of Terminator, wants to create a son (with her specifically? Judy link); Terminator T- r to R -- T -- Robert? Garland calls Bobby that in S1; alt storyline, married to 'Sarah' instead of Betty?}. Cooper's journey in P18 parallels MrC's - gathers an address and ends up at the Palmer house, looking for Sarah Palmer. Cooper & Carrie arrive, hold hands and walk slowly, rhythmically up to the front door, parallel to Mulholland Dr., Harring's & Watts's characters hold hands and walk up the 'secret path' to the dinner party (Carrie & Cooper alt the Morgans arriving for dinner?) and earlier walked through the Sierra Bonita apartments looking for Diane Selwyn. Tammy said that MrC was "heading west" alt Harring & Watts? At Sierra Bonita, a woman answers the door of apartment #12 "yes?" seems alt to Alice Tremond "yes?" who answered the door of the Palmer house. Diane had switched apartments with the woman in 12 (she's now in #17) and Sarah didn't seem to exist in the dimension in part 18 (alt apartment #18?). So 'Diane Selwyn' and 'Sarah Palmer' (2/2 syllables) seem to be parallel and on the same level (both sit on couches in robes) {Kesher alt Cooper impregnates Diane Selwyn (alt Evans) in the spot of Sarah Palmer? (creating 'Richard' alt to 'Robert?') [Kesher alt 'Kramer'; FBI trio Gordon, Albert and Tammy alt Jerry, George and Elaine, go to see Cooper (alt Kramer) in prison, 'that's strange even for Kramer']}. Diane Evans tells the FBI about a night when Cooper 'just walked in' to her house and raped her; Diane & Sarah similar character arcs in S3 - both drink vodka and smoke, poor attitudes, P4 "I know where she drinks" alt cut to Elk's #9 sign where Sarah goes. Alt version of Cooper alone P18 walks in at night, makes a son 'Richard Selwyn?' (blends with earlier sex scenes with Diane) alt to 'Robert' & time alt scenario where Cooper and not Garland is the father of Bobby (Robert version). Link to Oscar at Keri's? He's about 17, works with an alt Laura, delivers Sarah's alcohol, alt to a younger Sarah, they have sex ('Sarah Robinson'), Cooper is about 35 and Bobby 18 in season 1.
-CROSS: 'Sarah Selwyn' & 'Diane Palmer.' P12, Sarah and Diane grouped in scenes close together (Diane "let's rock" then Sarah shopping; Sarah visited by Hawk, then Diane at the bar, alt texts about the visit), link to apt #12? Alt 'Sarah Selwyn' at the mini-mart or supermarket (link to P15, Jacoby mentions and then another Sarah scene)? 'Diane Palmer' at the station P17? In P16, 'U R' awake + 'all' = 'Laura,' the Cooper that comes to the station is alt 'Laura' (or Connor (John) -- 'Cooper') (in a reality with no Laura Palmer; Naido brought in as a placeholder?). {Laura Dern could also cross with Sarah Palmer -- 'Laura Palmer' and Sarah Dern (alt Selwyn)}.
-Exterminator alt Terminator. MrC alt the bug man, called by Sarah about bugs, in her kitchen alt to the frantic calls about Laura in the Pilot (kitchen link to Dorothy, BV, Jeffery sprays her kitchen). In BV, MaClachlan's character has affair with Dorothy, alt Sarah ('Robinson') with CoopeJeffrey/Oscar. Links to the frogbug scenario, alt there's a 'radar' in Sarah (alt 1956 girl) that attracts MrC to her house? Or alt she is raped by the bugman (Judy version?) so she can birth his son.
Sarah in kitchen, link to Dorothy, alt calls exterminator about bug problem, alt McClachlan characters (MrC) is an actual bug man. Affair, alt between Sarah and version of Cooper (link to younger Oscar who delivers booze to her, alt 'Sarah Robinson').
Carrie & Betty
P8, Senorita Dido and the Fireman generate and send the golden orb containing Laura's 'face of the franchise' into the screen at the Fireman's theater. Ten parts later, Cooper arrives at Carrie's address 1516 on some lane. Mulholland Dr. - Betty Elms says goodbye to Irene & companion at the airport, takes a cab to 1612 Havenhurst. Irene is alt to Senorita Dido, her companion alt to the Fireman? {Irene played by Jeanne Bates, born 1918; high school age in the 1930s, link to the slow 30s music at the Fireman's house den?}. Cab - alt 'crystal ball'? Which transports Carrie into the world? Irene's companion - "all the luck in the world." {a crystal ball is mentioned in P12, Audrey to Charlie, one alt on his desk. Audrey wants to go the Roadhouse, alt scenario - he calls her a cab? 'Charlie DeVito'} (face of the franchise FOF alt BOB? Cooper P18 at Carrie's door, back of head POV, hairstyle he's alt Roy Orbison, or 'Ray Orbison' alt (Ray was arrested for carrying weapons over a state line alt Cooper bringing Carry into Washington state?); front POV he's alt Johnny? (Cash; link to Connor), alt 'Judy'? Ray knows Bill's secretary Betty; alt named Carrie in a version where Cooper is alt Roy/Ray? Cooper at Carrie's also a visual link to Betty's place P9). {'Face of the franchise' alt 'Evolution of the arm?' Alt it's inside an orb? the red room itself? P17 a squishy/fleshy thing settles over Naido's head, alt an orb; alt Garland's head contains the red room? Evolution of the arm alt 'Elm' in Betty Elms}.
Irene is alt Senorita Dido (or blends with Betty). Another name for Betty is 'Carrie?' \"All the luck in the world\" as they send her off, like P8 when Carrie is sent in a 'crystal ball' through the screen, alt in a cab.
FOF 'Face of the Franchise' orb alt to the BOB orb? Face of the franchise also alt Evolution of the arm (alt 'Elm' link to Betty Elms?); alt an orb contains a red room, orb can also be a head (Naido link); Garland's? P18 alt returns home to his body?
'Elms' link to Evolution of the Arm? or Elms alt Arms. Palm trees, link to 'Palmer?'
At the airport, Irene to Betty - "take care of yourself." Back perspective of Watts shown when Irene and companion call her 'Betty' three times, front view she's not named - alt she's 'Carrie' {one version she's pretty woman or girl (Orbison), link to the transition scene when the Cowboy tries to wake up the sleeping girl "hey pretty girl...", another she's linked to Cash? alt Diane waking up in a prison cell, Woman in 12 alt Cooper P18 knocking on Carrie's door, or inspecting prison cell; Cooper alt a food inspector at Judy's alt critic at a fancier restaurant}. [1976 film Carrie based on King's novel, Sissy Spacek plays Carrie, also in Altman's 3 Women 1977, similar story arc as MD, role reversal brunette/blonde; around the time of Eraserhead 1977; Lynch, Straight Story link, alt she married to a simple man Leonard (alt Skynyrd), alt Cooper who returns home P4?] [Steven King's Carrie, link to Misery (Sarah "sure is a mystery"; 'IT' also referenced, "it in our house now" etc; 'Sarah King' alt a mystery novel writer? P14 James walks towards the door in the GN basement, the scene cuts to Sarah walking towards the bar alt continuous with previous scene, she enters, inside Sarah "I wasn't trying to be polite" alt James at the RH in the next part "I was just trying to be polite"; this Sarah, links to James's mother who was a writer and used to go to bars and pick up guys?); alt Rita/Dougie is held captive by Watts (Carrie alt 'taking are of' them; link to Norma P15, the 'face of the franchise'); (Kathy) Bates link to Jeanne Bates alt blends with Watts as the caretaker).
Spacek alt Carrie (King); Carrie an alt name for Watts in MD (alt keeping Harring's character captive), continued in TP season 3 with Dougie; alt the wife of a simple man, Dougie alt Leonard (Skynyrd link).
Another Carrie/Betty link: Carrie's place vs Betty's place; Garland and the chair link to the dead man.
Late in P17, replay of the Pilot opening scene but Laura's corpse vanishes or 'dissolves' from the shore as Josie puts on makeup in front of the mirror; resembling Rita in Ruth's bathroom. In MD, Betty vanishes (camera abandons her, out of frame) as a dolled-up Rita retrieves the key from her purse in the closet (oriental rug in Ruth's bedroom & at Club Silencio, China/Josie links?) (Carrie similarly 'abandoned' by the camera view when Cooper and her approach the front door at the Tremond house). If Betty is alt Carrie, 'Rita' could be alt Josie? {Cooper with Carrie in P18 alt Jake? From State Farm; "state...Washington state" (also link to Jade; Chris asks if she has a john in the 'state of Washington'); he's alt 'Mr. Insurance Man' (MIM alt FOF; Miriam link? both in comas, alt he's bringing a regular RR coffee to a mother, link to Oscar delivering alcohol to Sarah)}. Rita made up the name for herself from the Hayworth poster in the bathroom; close to 'Hayward'; alt - Josie is a Hayward sister, adopted? Pilot, a couple scenes after Josie by the mirror, Audrey leaves for school, gets into a car waiting for her - is this continuous with the beginning of Mulholland Dr.? Rita in the limo, "what are you doing, we don't stop here?" alt Audrey kidnapped on the way to school, taken straight to Jacks {where Betty/Carrie keeps her captive, link to P4 Cooper taken 'home' to Janey-E}. Josie by the mirror also seems linked to the end of Audrey's story in S3; part #16 link to apartment #16? alt where Audrey as Betty ends up? Audrey and Josie are almost never together in any scene in Twin Peaks (save for Laura's funeral, where Audrey's short/slicked hair is like Josie's) (Hank alt a barber, takes/saves a piece of hair, link to Cooper P16 ('Dale Barber' alt); the name 'Hank' is linked to Ruth's storyline P1, cutting hair alt a beheading? Cooper cuts own hair, alt MrC P5 beheading himself, or Briggs, or calling a cab for himself).
Josie alt Rita. Alt - a Hayward sister? (close to 'Hayworth'), getting ready before school? Blends with Audrey, who gets into a car to go to school, alt is kidnapped straight to Jacks.
Audrey alt Josie. Two never are together in any TP scene except Laura's funeral when Audrey has similar short/slicked hair.
Hank alt a barber takes hair, link to Cooper plucking out hair in P16. Cooper alt cutting his own hair. Alt a beheading?
Josie by the mirror (Pilot) might also blend with Audrey's story arc in season 3, like her getting ready before going to the Roadhouse to look for Billy; alt taken there (alone) in a cab or car (last part of MD, Camilla calls Diane, tells her the "car" is waiting) (also alt to Audrey's ride to school in the Pilot; Roadhouse P5, Charlotte turns around and asks Richard for a light, alt a pencil or eraser, cigarette ashes alt to eraser shavings, classroom setting). Audrey in S3 first appears in part #12, alt 'apartment' #12 where the two girls (alt Cooper & Carrie looking for Sarah P18?), first went to look for Diane Selwyn; part 16 when Audrey's story ends might link to apartment #16 where Diane or Betty is 'hiding out' (Betty in an 'internal' level? Diane in #17 external?)
Cooper & Carrie alt Betty & Rita, looking for Sarah Palmer alt Diane Selwyn; hold hands; Woman in 12 answers \"yes?\" like Alice Tremond. Apt switch (12 to 17) vs wrong reality? (18)
So in the last part of MD a blonde is picked up in a car, which mirrors dark-haired Rita taken in the car at the start (alt Audrey in the pilot); is there a brunette in a cab from an airport alt to blonde Betty? Back to cab = crystal ball link. MrC P2, a mystery caller knows his whereabouts, alt he's inside of a crystal ball and can be seen? (alt he's called on a cell or car phone, caller says he met with Major Briggs, alt the Mitchum Brothers? who greeted Cooper in P16 at the casino prior to the flight, they are alt the oldsters with Betty at the airport; casino alt airport; Cooper in the limo like the oldsters, Rodney taps Bradley after Candie's corny line, alt Irene and Companion corny dialog and slapping knees in the limo). MrC was also transported through the Fireman's screen in P17 like Carrie (alt Betty) and dropped off at the station. This equates the station with Havenhurst, where Betty was dropped off by cab; inside the blue key was used to open the box in Ruth's bedroom, alt the 'green' key that Cooper gets from Frank, to open the door in the basement? The GN basement in P17 alt part of the station (James checks the noise alt 'furnaces' alt Ruth in MD checking her bedroom after the box fits the floor; the door seems alt to the locker room door opened in the same part by Chad; version where Cooper = Chad the door and ringing sound are at the station?; key in Chad's boot another version of the blue key? Cooper goes through the door, Gerard appears from blackness on the other side, link to the dark interior of the blue box; leads into the 'dream' of the blonde? sleight of hand in MD - POV is of a brunette going into the box (not Rita in blonde; it's alt Ronette? scared/trembling like Rita), then a blonde wakes up instead of the corpse appearing? (alt Laura in her bedroom? [Ronette/Laura alts at Club Silencio, shown to contrast Rita & Betty] which is alt to Ruth's; Sarah looks into Laura's room and the camera POV scans across like Ruth after the sound of the box dropping, alt to mysterious sound in S3 at the GN and hospital that distracts various characters and which James investigates in P14 - he's alt/continuous with Bushnell P16 after leaving Cooper's hospital room?). Laura's death and corpse on the shore corresponds to when a blonde opens the box and the brunette escapes (alt car crash) and cycles back, alt Rita or Ronette? Then a new blonde dreams?]) (Rita/Laura Harring, face resembles blonde Norma Jennings; P13 Walter enters the RR diner "hey girl" link to the cowboy "hey pretty girl, time to wake up." Scenario where Norma is dreaming, wakes up on a different level or in a different 'apartment' as Watts/Diane? In apartment #13?).
Laura's bedroom alt to Ruth's. Ronette (in place of Rita made blonde) opens the box the dream ends (and Laura wakes up to Sarah in the morning?).
Ronette's walk on the tracks alt MrC down the path P9 and Rita following the crash. Outcome after the box is opened (or breaks) and the blonde (alt Laura?) is dead instead of waking up?

Eu tô me sentindo mal. Vi um broder numa balada nós status e tbm me senti mal. Eu passo maior parte do tempo me drogando e solitário.

2024.02.11 06:23 Jstyles72 Is Jack Daniel’s Country Cocktails a good drink ? and does it get you drunk ?

Let me start off by saying, I'm very new to drinking flavored malt beverages. Recently, I switched from "clear and dark liquor" to something better, which is “Flavored Malt Beverages.” I love the juice-like taste and the absence of that nasty liquor flavor. The hangovers aren't as bad for me either. It's surprising how they have a low alcohol percentage but still get me Litt! I also appreciate their variety of sizes and affordable packs, which helps me save money and creates a more chill and relaxing experience.
I enjoyed clear and dark liquor for a while, but the worst hangovers and the unpleasant taste pushed me to find something better. I preferred having a chaser with them, and they often became expensive over time. They felt good but not as good as flavored malt beverages, in my opinion.
Another drink I've experienced in the past, with an exceptional taste and overall experience, is "MD 20/20" aka Mad Dog. I always thought this drink was a flavored malt beverage, but it turns out it’s actually a flavored fortified wine. I’ve tried a couple of wine drinks as well but MD 20/20 ended up being my favorite. I haven’t had this drink in a long time and I’ve only had the mango flavor. It’s sooo good!
My first ever flavored malt beverages were 4-Loko, Margarita, Rita’s, and maybe more. However, my go-to drink now is Twisted Tea. I love how it tastes and feels, and I'm on a hunt to try all their flavors. When it comes to Jack Daniels Country Cocktails, I’ve tried them but I’ve only drank 1 or 2 bottles on occasion and I never had a whole pack to myself yet. I’ve felt a lil tipsy from them but not drunk. I’ve tried a few flavors so far.
I've been curious about Jack Daniels Country Cocktails lately. They seem similar to Twisted Tea in taste (Not the flavor), price, and alcohol content (5%). Based on research I have done, it seems like it might not get me drunk and I haven’t bought them yet because I don't like buying alcohol without knowing if it's worth it nor wasting money either, so I wanted to get some feedback first.
I'd love to hear ya’ll thoughts on whether Jack Daniels Country Cocktails will get you drunk at all or if it will get you as drunk as Twisted Tea and y’all experiences with both drinks as well. Also, if y’all have any recommendations for other flavored malt beverages, wines, or healthier options, please share! I look forward to trying many more flavored malt beverages!
I’m not a big fan of wine but also add that in there too, I’d consider trying. I hope to discover more alcohol drinks that taste great, have little to no harsh alcohol taste, provide a nice chill mellow drunk, and offer convenient benefits.
Cheers to finding the perfect drink! 🍹🥂
Thank you all & Happy Drinking! Remember to enjoy responsibly, know your limits, and never drink and drive.

2024.01.26 22:53 KarlosHungus36 "Friends of Diane"; "They're friends of Dougie's"; Chad vs Major Briggs

Friends of Diane / Dougie
P7, the FBI (Albert & Gordon) knock on Diane's apt door, "friends of Diane;" link to P16 at the hospital, the Mitchum brothers (Rodney & Bradley) arrive, Bushnell introduces them to Janey-E & Sonny Jim, "they're friends of Dougie's." So the duo of Gordon & Albert are alt to the duo of Bradley & Rodney, 'friends of' Dougie or Diane (or Diane Evans / Douglas Jones) who are parallel. In S3, Albert & Gordon are tracing Diane's texts, "keep her close;" them discovering that Diane Evans is betraying them is alt to the scenario of the Mitchums finding out that Douglas Jones is sabotaging them, "I can't wait to kill this guy." FBI (Albert) shoots Diane in P16, Rodney doesn't shoot Dougie in P11; cross them (link to Cooper (alt Dougie) and Diane together in P18 - "once we cross it could all be different"), so that Dougie is shot dead in the desert and Diane on the flip side brings a box to the FBI in P16 (in place of the cherry pie in a cardboard box), maybe like the mysterious blue box in Mulholland Dr. (interior of Diane's purse alt the interior of the box), brought to the two oldsters who crawled into Diane (Selwyn)'s apartment to knocks alt Gordon & Albert. Next scene P11 after the desert scene, joyous atmosphere at the restaurant link to the dinner party in the last part of MD, piano player link to Angelo Badalamenti (Candie alt to blonde Camilla Rhodes). Cooper receiving the pie alt to a kiss, he has misc links to brunette Camilla Rhodes - they sneak in or are brought into a house or apartment with a Watts character (alt 'caretaker'). Janey-E wants to take Cooper to the doctor's, alt Betty and Rita, "we should get a doctor... this could be serious" because of her head injury. After a couple days they have sex and Watts declares her love (Betty to Rita: "I'm in love with you...I'm in love with you" vs "I love you Dougie"). Cooper in a coma, wakes up, "you are awake" (Gerard, before Janey-E enters) alt to Betty entering Ruth's bedroom, "you're awake" when Rita wakes up. {P10 at Dr. Ben's, "Dougie have you been exercising?" alt 'Exorcizing' head turns around, Camilla Rhodes -- Camilla sedohR alt Cooper}. {Blue box: Rita opens it in MD, her POV gets sucked inside a black void and she vanishes on the outside, might be alt to MrC getting 'pulled back into the black lodge'; Rita post car crash walks injured, similar to MrC in P9; also Ronette in place of CoopeCamilla, alt swaps places with blonde Laura, who opens the box in the bedroom and vanishes (alt scenario involving Laura's disappearance)? Sarah in the Pilot looks for Laura in her bedroom, the camera does a pan across the room similar to Ruth's POV scanning the bedroom after Rita opens the box. Thus Ruth's bedroom and Rita (wearing a blonde wig) vanishing is alt to Laura's bedroom and Laura vanishing in one version, perhaps having to do with a swap with brunette Ronette (alt Judy, triplicate)).
Albert shoots Diane, Rodney doesn't shoot Dougie. Scenario can be crossed: Dougie is shot in the desert, and Diane brings a box up to the FBI duo (or the duo plus 3 more to account for the 'girls in pink').
Restaurant scene in P11 alt to the dinner party scene in MD; Cooper and Camilla parallel, also are parallel in various events involving Watts at the Jones house or Ruth's apartment.
Laura's bedroom vs Ruth's bedroom. Sarah and Ruth's POVs scan across the rooms. Rita opened the box and vanished; link to alt Ronette and Laura blending/ swapping and a trio of brunettes alt sucked into the blackness of the box, alt 'pulled' into the black lodge? {MrC incorporates the trio?}
P16 after Diane is shot and vanishes, Gordon talks about Judy and agents disappearing etc. Alt - Diane brought the box upstairs and it was opened and a few agents that were present (maybe alt Chet, Cooper and Jeffries? who all disappeared per Albert's talk in P12) got pulled inside and vanished from the outside world, but not Albert ('one')? {To balance the P7 and P16 scenes at Diane's apt and the hospital: FBI duo alt the Mitchum brothers ('friends of' Diane or Dougie), Bushnell alt the well-dressed man on his way out, link to Frank Booth and his disguise; the Jones family trio is incorporated into one alt-Diane?; 'Diane Booth' a character is alt a family of 3 sitting together at a booth? (MrC alt this 'Booth' when he's killed? in Frank's office, Lucy alt was hiding in the closet?). 3 agents that vanish alt the 3 girls in pink? Trio link to Denise (alt Diane) who transitions sex}. So Diane opens the box, but Albert (the shooter) doesn't vanish? (since Albert said he's the only one out of the group who hadn't disappeared). Because he had on the owl ring? alt 'Albert Cole' (one)? while Tammy Briggs or Garland was in the bathroom (Tammy not present in one shot; Briggs involved in misc scenarios involving Judy as well), alt Jade P3 (who with Dougie when he had on the ring)? Trio of agents, link to the Jones family combined into one 'Diane' (alt Diane Booth); three in one, linked to 'Judy?' Tammy (brunette) in this role when she goes inside the restaurant P4, alt the 3 sync players in the Roadhouse to end the part?}. {trio of brunettes Ronette, Audrey & Donna could combine into one 'Judy' and then become one alt-Laura, blonde who opens the box in her bedroom and vanishes from the story to parallel Rita in Ruth's bedroom}. {girls in pink link to the 3 Hayward sisters; involved in a dinner party with the Palmers and Maddy; various scenes and locations trace back to one family and house?}
Chad vs Major Briggs
Dale P17: "Bobby, your father was well aware of what's going on here today." Link to P14, Chad enters the conference room, "What's this all about?" Frank: "I think you know" alt he's 'well aware.' P4 Chad leaves the conference room and almost immediately Bobby enters but they don't cross paths. Bobby: "What's all this about?" Two versions - one where Bobby & Chad are together same plane of existence (P9 & P14) other where they are deceptively not (P4); Cooper says Bobby's father gathered information, Chad P4 "I'll go have a word with my pinecone" alt he's going to gather pinecones (or 'information'); Chad a placeholder for Bobby's father (Major Briggs) in one version?; 'Bobby Boxford'; 'information' alt to 'pinecones.' 'Betty Boxford' the mother in one version? (gives the tube alt a pinecone; which provides information to Frank and Hawk). P10 Chad goes to the front desk alt to flirt with Betty ('many years ago')? Chad then says he's going outside to 'collect the mail' alt to gather information or to have a word with his 'pinecone' (alt - he's arrested when he returns?). 'Information that brought him together with Director Gordon Cole' alt Dougie? alt the drunk that seems to blend together with Chad in the downstairs lockup (Denise to Gordon P4 "and I believe you're on the trail of something big." Gordon then repeats "Big" like Dougie and the drunk; alt - he's brought into the office and beaten up and then taken down to lockup; Denise's office alt to the warden's, "sit him down and leave" alt he's restrained and beaten; next scene P4 is at the station, Lucy talks about prisoners, Chad says he booked a drunk etc). So Gordon is alt the drunk (or Dougie) who is beaten up and taken to lockup with Chad alt Major Briggs, alt who was arrested after going outside to 'gather information' (blending P4 with P10 and the lockup scenes). S2 Gordon himself was at the station, alt he was picked up for a DUI, beaten by the sheriff or warden for some reason and put into lockup near Major Briggs? (perhaps replacing Cooper driving into town and his relationship with Briggs). Pilot, Mike & Bobby (M & B alt Major Briggs) were in lockup when James was brought in, who had been on the road with Donna, alt picked up for DUI or framed. James Hurley alt Judy (Cooper says to Harry on the stakeout when Donna arrives: "How else is she going to lead us to that biker?" link to the plan talked about in P17 that would lead the FBI to Judy) (so Dougie in one scenario is Judy? Gordon P17 alt - "Dougie is Judy? How the hell is this?"). Dale P17: "And that's what's brought us to where we are today." So Judy & Major Briggs are alt the drunk and Chad, who 'got together'; alt the FBI (Judy?) getting together with the military? Cooper or Frank in place of Gordon in this version (who says "Dougie is Judy? How the hell is this?") and Jeffries in place of Cooper at the station ("we live inside a dream"). Thus Jeffries is leading the scene in a scenario where the FBI and military share information and arrive together at a place. Jeffries is actually a talking teapot in S3, so where might they have arrived to? Pilot, there's a teapot near Sarah in the kitchen when she makes frantic calls about Laura. Alt 'Sarah Jeffries?' FBI & military looking for her daughter? They arrive at the Palmer house in place of the station P17? Alt Cooper & Carrie arriving to the Tremond house in P18, she's alt Mary (military) and he's alt Jerry or Johnny or Jacoby or James Hurley or Joe McKluskey (all 'Judys') (she's alt Mrs. Strawberry?; Alice or Sarah alt the warden or blends with the husband; 'Dwight' (first name of Warden Murphy) link to the dog at the Truman house, Frank alt the warden link to P4 after Gordon's scene with Denise). {'Major Briggs' link to things being in double? vs Judy, in threes?}
MrC in the warden's office vs Gordon in Denise's office. Warden alt has guards restrain him as he beats him up, then is taken to lockup alt the injured drunk with Chad alt Major Briggs. Major Briggs, MB alt Mike and Bobby; Dougie alt James Hurley (names in doubles) or 'Judy.'
'Bobby Boxford': P10 Lucy to Chad "what are you doing up here?" Tray of donuts; link to the RR diner, Dr. H when Audrey enters in S1E3, "wonder what she's doing down here." Bobby leaves a tune on the jukebox, alt drives a Ford ('Boxford'); paired with 'Shelly Briggs?' Norma in the place of Betty Boxford alt his mother who owns a diner? Chad alt the Major used to come in to eat and flirt, his daughter alt Shelly worked there?

2024.01.13 16:37 AHSWeeknd r/popheads AOTY 2023 #10: Ava Max - Diamonds & Dancefloors

Artist: Ava Max 💎
Album: Diamonds & Dancefloors 💎
Label: Atlantic
Release Date: October 14, 2022 January 27, 2023 💎

💎 STREAM HERE 💎

ARE YOU READY TO SERVE?! ARE YOU READY TO SLAY!?

…Wrong album but an album that is equally devoid of previously teased visuals!
Welcome to the bop of 2023. After a long wait, Ava Max delivered her second studio album, one without compiled singles, focusing on one theme: divorce babes, divorce a breakup. And overall, the critics and maxipads avatars tended to appreciate this album more than they did Ava’s debut. Her sophomore album had a solid thematic consistency and a certain sort of maturity, which will be discussed here. Without further thought, let’s get into it!

💎 The Rollout 💎

This album came after Ava Max had solidified a spot within the Pop sphere. She has certainly become more well versed in her own strengths and her massive weaknesses. This album also reflects a downward spiral of a relationship and the growth Ava has personally experienced after becoming Ava Max. But what stands out most when discussing this album is the rollout. The timeline of events was equally chaotic and exciting.
February 12, 2022 will always be remembered as the most important day in history. Some say historians have already revised textbooks in order to incorporate this monumental date in time. Countries such as Albania are already recognizing this important day as a holiday to commemorate the value it holds. It was the day the Max-Cut was defeated.
As Ava signified the beginning of a new era, fans anticipated and album would be coming soon. However, she’s signed to Atlantic, which means they somehow managed to push the album back almost all the way back to the one year anniversary of the Max Cut’s demise.
April 28, 2022: Maybe You’re The Problem was the first single released off the album and instantly became a notable Ava Max song. Critics raved about the song as did the fans, but as the hype was built, the album was still a long way from release.
It wasn’t until June 1st that Ava had announced the album on the Today Show. With the album announcement came this monstrosity. And yet, the album was still four months away.
In the midst of all that waiting, on September 1st, Ava had released the second single, Million Dollar Baby. Evidently, the song and video reflected her journey in finding herself through her growing popularity. Fans enjoyed the new music and continued to await the album.
October 17th, five days after the intended release date of the album, Diamonds & Dancefloors leaked in its entirety in a very low quality but that’s besides the point. Ava responded to the leaks in a now deleted TikTok. While the songs were out there, the label had decided to keep the new 2023 release date.
November 10th, Weapons was released and people compared it to So Am I, those people may have been right, but we’ll return to the chase of Weapons when discussing the tracks.
December 20th, Ava Max released the incomparable Dancing’s Done. A song that would truly revitalize the excitement for this album, this would be done with the help of the new, and iconic, cover art of the album.
January 12th, 2023: One Of Us is released along with its visualizer. Since Maybe You’re the Problem, this song showed more of the breakup aspect of the album.
20 days prior, Ava started teasing the songs along with their respective visualizers. 12 of these visualizers ended up getting lost, so here we are. (They didn’t actually get lost but I’ll get to that point in two paragraphs).
January 27… the wait is over… and it was all worth the wait. Diamonds & Dancefloors peaked at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart. 34 on the Hot 100, but that’s neither here nor there. The album evidently underperformed, but as many fans and onlookers have stated, it had the potential to be a sleeper hit.
The sad reality was that Ava was managed by Scooter Braun, who at the time of release up was going through his own career downfall. Without proper management, the album had no true chance to grow or evolve. This also explains why the visualizers got lost, her management fell apart and so did the potential of the album.
April to September of 2023, Ava embarked on her first tour. And of course, while busy with the tour, any last opportunity to savour the album and gain more hits dwindled. Regardless, Ava had still created an album that was a memorable fun pop album.

💎 The Production 💎

This album was lead-produced by Cirkut. A Canadian born producer who has collaborated quite a lot with some well known artists in the pop music sphere. Including Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Kesha, Katy Perry, Marina and The Diamonds, Kim Petras, and more.
While discussing Cirkut, we cannot ignore that he found his place by being Dr. Luke’s right hand man. His name is attached to some massive pre-2015 hits and classics, due to his work under Lukasz Gottwald’s company. Despite this, Cirkut continued to produce music on his own for other notable artists such as The Weeknd and Rick Ross.
After 2016, Cirkut had cut ties with Dr. Luke and went on to produce music himself. From there onwards he began working with Ava Max producing most of her music. Beyond his work with Ava, the hitmaker worked on songs such as Elton John and Britney Spears’ Hold Me Closer, Sam Smith’s Unholy (feat. Kim Petras), FKA Twigs’ Tears in The Club (feat. The Weeknd), Jungkook’s Seven (feat. Latto).
Cirkut produced Ava’s first hit single, Sweet But Psycho. Afterwards, the two have collaborated extensively, Cirkut was also a lead producer on Ava’s debut album Heaven and Hell. And with their work continuing on Diamonds & Dancefloors, the duo continue to serve bops.

💎 The Album 💎

As previously mentioned, the theme of the album is a breakup. Along with that concept of the album, Ava also presents the listener with a perspective on self growth and evolution. Throughout the breakup, she discovers that there’s more to her than she would’ve thought.

💎 1. Million Dollar Baby

The first track of the bop-album of the century gives us a look into Ava’s journey into discovering and acknowledging her own fame. Million Dollar Baby essentially analyzes the popstar image that was fed to Ava during her first era and her uprise as an upcoming pop artist.
This is further emphasized in the music video, where Ava being her normal self (Amanda) merges with Ava Max and becomes her own version of the popstar.
Fun fact, Dianne Warren has a writing credit on this track.
VIDEO

💎 2. Sleepwalker

A discography highlight, and debatably the best song on the album. Sleepwalker became an instant fan favourite and is also Ava’s favourite off the album. The song furthers this concept carried by Million Dollar Baby about the mysterious woman and more of her vicious and glamorous traits.
The track is inspired by late 80s pop music. Why late? Why not! Kidding, the elements of rock which became more evident in the latter half of the decade are evident in this track.
LIVE PERFORMANCE

💎 3. Maybe You’re The Problem

Ah yes, this bop! Maybe You’re The Problem serves as the thesis of the album. Forming a statement regarding the theme of breakups and Ava repeating “it’s not me, it’s you” solidified the notion that moving forward she’d put herself first.
Although with the first two songs we heard Ava speaking of herself as an unapologetic woman, we note that through Maybe You’re The Problem Ava wouldn’t blame herself for a relationship going south.
The video for the song remains Ava’s most confusing one to date. Essentially, as she tries to enjoy her time at a snow resort, her toxic boyfriend brings down her vibe. Eventually, the real world merges with an arcade game, making it much easier for Ava to take him down.
VIDEO

💎 4. Ghost

No doubt, this is a masterpiece. As any post-breakup vibe would have, Ghost pushes the narrative that it’s near impossible to escape the thoughts of an ex after a recent breakup. By comparing this feeling to a paranormal scenario, Ava Max creates her gothic fantasy. Jane Eyre who?!?!!
Taking inspiration from house music, this song merges the 80s inspired synth-pop sonic theme of the album with house to create an addictive beat.
VISUALIZER

💎 5. Hold Up (Wait A Minute)

And this track was written after Ava binged watched an entire season of Desperate Housewives. Kdding, I don’t know. Maybe though! It’s very dramatic. Although, if this was inspired by Desperate Housewives, there’d be mention of a fire starting at the worst possible time.
OH WAIT! The lost visual was leading to that…
This bop stands to represent a “hmmm” moment within relationships; the suspicion that arises before cheating is confirmed. Shoutout to Ava for spilling here though.
LOST VISUAL

💎 6. Weapons

Now listen… with this amazing 80s inspired beat it’s hard to deny that this isn’t a song that would be made back in the day by an 80s pop singer.
I mean, there’s a number of artists I could see having this as a filler track on their albums. Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Olivia Newton-John, Belinda Carlisle, Irene Cara, Paula Abdul, Gloria Estefan, Rosetta Tharpe, Santigold, Bessie Smith, Nina Simone, Betty Davis, Solange Knowles, Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl’, Lauryn Hill, Roberta Flack, Toni, Janet, Tierra Whack, Missy, Diana, Grace Jones, Aretha, Anita, GRACE JONES, Helen Folasade Adu, Jilly from Philly, I love you, boo. Greta Garbo and Monroe Dietrich and DiMaggio, Marlon Brando, Jimmy Dean On the cover of a magazine, Grace Kelly, Harlow, Jean, Picture of a beauty queen, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, dance on air, They had style, they had grace, Rita Hayworth gave good face, Lauren, Katherine, Lana too, Bette Davis, we love you.
…anyways, it’s a fun song. Moving on!
VISUALIZER

💎 7. Diamonds & Dancefloors

Then we meet the gem, the true diamond, of the album. This title track serves to be one of Ava Max’s most memorable songs. Along with Weapons, Ava continues to step out of the breakup theme and discuss a different emotion. Diamonds & Dancefloors stands to represent a yearning for the livelihood of dance floors.
Ava had mentioned that this album reflected the hardest year of her life. The title track perfectly captures the notions of wanting to escape into a place without worries. A place where she can surround herself with glamour of all sorts.
LOST VISUAL

💎 8. In The Dark

Another track influenced by house music, the synth/house merged beats form a dance track that continues the effortless consistency of this album. Lyrically, a depressing song but paired with a dance beat Chromatica called it wanted its—
Now one could wonder, who would treat Ava Max this way, she seems like such a great person. But that’s not the point of this paragraph, the point of this paragraph is about how much of a bop this song is. It’s a dance track that reflects the emotions of being used rather than valued.
LOST VISUAL

💎 9. Turn Off The Lights

Did Ava Max sample crazy frog? Well no.
The Harold Faltermeyer sample of Axel F as the outro is the cherry on top of another dance floor bop. Essentially, serving as a continuation of the title track, this song becomes a vibe describing the euphoric feeling of being free in the middle of a dance floor (I need a new word for “dance floor” at this point).
LOST VISUAL

💎 10. One Of Us

This track is one of two parts that make the climax of the album.
Breakup albums tend to have tracks that simply convey hopelessness and Ava nails it right here. The notable part of this song stands to be the growing dramatic beat complimenting the lyrics. Without being highly focused on the beat, the song is evidently formed around the lyrics. When it’s necessary, Ava exits the sample store to focus on songwriting. And for her, it works perfectly.
I would give up the world but it won’t save us
My personal mental breakdown right here. She served.
VISUALIZER

💎 11. Get Outta My Heart

The second part of the album’s climax right here. After One Of Us, Get Outta My Heart is a final plea from Ava to herself and her ex to finally exit her life.
The Twisted Nerve sample over the “I know what you did last summer” line conveys that Ava’s breakup was a tale as old as time. Someone unfaithful who found his way into Ava’s heart.
LOST VISUAL

💎 12. Cold As Ice

And as we’re past the climax of the album, Ava takes us into dark pop. Dark pop being songs with slower beats and more somewhat heavier lyrics.
Cold As Ice recalls the first two tracks, Ava returns to point of placing herself in a position where she’s valuing herself unapologetically. This track stands to represent her rebirth after feeling down on herself because of the breakup.
LOST VISUAL

💎 13. Last Night On Earth

Insanity.
u/AvaMaxofficial first of all, how dare you. Second, thank you for making such an immersive experience of a bop.
Last Night On Earth is that moment when you find the escape on the dance floor. Forgetting about past heartbreak and focusing on the presence.
Ava’s voice here fits perfectly into this subtle and profound synth beat, proving that dance music isn’t necessarily her forte. Similar to Belladonna on Heaven and Hell, Ava created a tone that’s exemplified through intriguing beats that call for attitude in delivery.
LOST VISUAL

💎 14. Dancing’s Done

This is the moment. The moment of the album. The moment that makes you want more. The moment that makes you go “wow.”
Ava finalizes the dark pop moment in the album, and finishes the album itself, on an open ended note. This song revitalizes the feeling of being able to trust again after heartbreak. Ava announces that she’s ready to let someone new into her life and be open once again.
VISUALIZER

💎 The Discussion 💎

As this era comes to a conclusion, there’s a lot to consider. Mainly, the question remains what could’ve been? Artists such as Ava Max have to work extra hard to gain success in mainstream spheres, and had Ava’s team not been going through changes, Diamonds & Dancefloors perhaps would’ve gotten more recognition.
But what we can say for certain is that Ava created a memorable, fun album that stays on repeat for all the maxipads avatars!

💎 Questions for discussion 💎

  1. Which of the songs would’ve made good singles?
  2. Would it be worth it if Ava and co. were to re-release the album on the anniversary?
  3. Where did the lost visualizers go?
  4. Both of Ava’s albums have the word “and” in them, what other title with the word “and” in it could Ava use for the third album?

2023.12.30 21:21 ANewMuleSkinner Something interesting I've realized about Mulholland Drive (2001).

I'm sure somebody somewhere else has made these connections before, but they came to me, too, anyway: For Mulholland Drive (2001), director David Lynch cast LAURA Harring as a character who calls herself Rita after Rita Hayworth, lead actress in the noir classic Gilda (1946). Another classic noir of the same era titled LAURA (1944), not unlike MD, is about a case of mistaken identity between two young women, one of whom (named DIANE) is killed, like her Lynchian counterpart, by a gunshot wound to the face. The screenplay for LAURA was co-written by Elizabeth Reinhardt, who Wikipedia notes was "sometimes credited as BETTY Reinhardt".

MD used to be one of my favorite movies, since it was amazing how for the most mainstream dream theories, like Alan Shaw's, everything seemed to fit perfectly, and how each little thing in the dream seemed like amazing symbolism hinting at what Diane was actually doing or feeling about the events in her life and Camilla. For example, I saw a theory where Cyrus and Kesher's Wife were supposed to represent Camilla and Adam, in Diane's head, which was pretty interesting. Or that why Betty talks so weird when she arrives in L.A. is to amplify the feeling of something not being real. Basically, part of what made it so great was going like 'Wow! I can't believe Lynch thought of adding that in, and it making sense!'. All of this made Diane seem so much more complex and real as a person, and made her pain hit harder.
But after learning about the pilot while I was doing some research for an essay on MD, it feels as if it kind of cheapened and fragmented the movie. Things like the gunman subplot, or the detectives looking around for Rita seem rather boring while knowing that the intent behind them wasn't actually specific and contributing to a greater whole, and the ending seems like it was just kinda slapped on. It's kinda like that saying where if you love something enough, you fill in its flaws with your imagination, but the beauty of it, for me personally before learning about the pilot, was that maybe your theories were actually correct, keeping in mind that every scene was done intentionally.
I'm not articulating it really well, but anyone else have any similar thoughts?
