I (25M) am currently working in the pharmaceutical sector as a junior scientist with a background in chemical engineering. It turns out I hate what I do currently despite making roughly 85k per year with <2 years of experience since graduating college.
My original plan was to try matriculating into a top 15 MBA program, with the hopes of pivoting into a “business related” field (marketing, finance, operations or strategy). I quickly realized how insanely expensive a top business school program is, and hoping to get a scholarship would be a very, very risky choice. The most in student loans I’ve ever had was $5k and I really don’t wish to have any more than this.
I’m extremely outgoing and people-centric, as such, I’ve have been told many a time by random coworkers that I’d so amazing in something sales / business related. Not to say I’m poor at my job, it is just obvious I belong elsewhere as I’m not passionate about spending my days in a lab.
My current issue is I how type-A I am. This morning I woke up at 4 am from the stress of not knowing what career decision to make next. I’m always trying to “optimize” outcomes. This past weekend, I got an idea an idea to switch into programming, after coming across an article online about someone’s career switch into CS, however, I feel that’s not something I’d actually love and I’d be doing it simply for the money - which I’ve now seen can be a recipe for disaster. I thought about switching into a role within my company, however, there aren’t many roles, and I think at this point I perhaps should just switch into a business related field at a non-pharmaceutical company. I don’t want to take a pay cut starting from the bottom, but it’s seeming this may be the only option.
Im currently looking into marketing, consulting (specifically at big 4), or a business analyst role at some adjacent company. I don’t really wish to leave my state, however, given the size, I think this may be the only solution.
Does anyone have any advice? Am I overthinking this? I just want to find something I love, I think marketing would be a great fit, but I also would love something that could make use of my quantitative / analytical thinking / skill-set as well! Any advice?

…. Um they aren’t that good.
Listening to the re-recorded albums on their own (the Taylor’s versions) they are good enough and I mean at first I really stood for the reasoning behind her re-recording the albums after the whole scooter braun fiasco but at the time I didn’t know her family also owned a percentage of big machine (not much only 3%, but that 3% made ol’ Scott swift [the OG poet trapped in the body of a finance guy] like $15 million dollars upon the sale)
Anyways though, I was always really excited when the TV’s came out because it was just something new, a way to listen to the songs I’ve loved for a decade or longer now and they are good albums, until you listen to the original versions.
I made a few playlists on Apple Music with the original songs and Taylor’s versions back to back and when you listen that way the differences are glaring. I completely didn’t expect the songs to be carbon copies but the music production isn’t nearly as good (especially on 1989 the songs are so quiet in comparison on TVersion if that makes sense)
And the new recordings just don’t capture the same energy or emotions that the originals did.
Idk maybe im a shitty fan of her and her music but I will always prefer the original songs 🤷‍♀️

Its getting to summer and in south Texas that means more visitors that I cannot goddamned stand. I had one crawl NEAR me and now I will lose an entire night of sleep while darting my eyes in different directions because they now LIVE in the corner of my vison and any strange feeling is them crawling all fucking over me. My room is fucking clean. My house is clean. HOW did you get so fucking big and INTO MY ROOM??? WHY are they so big??? Like 3 inch sized fucking monsters. I want them all to die so badly. I do not care about the collapse of the ecosystem because of them disappearing. I need them gone. I see one and I go into irrational overdrive and involuntarily sprint from my room and hold myself out of pure fear. I cannot exist as the same time as these disgusting hellish FREAKS. I cant see these fucks or I feel pure sickness and dread. Life threatening dread. Like a flaming pissed off tiger with a bowie knife strapped to each paw and its tail told me in my language its going to chase me down to kill me for sport. I see pictures of them and I can feel myself wanting to literally vomit. Fuck you, you disgusting waste of life I wish the worst for you and your species.

2024.05.21 11:17 Randolla1960 Potential Deadly Issue

I bought a new gas cooktop for our kitchen remodel. It is a Capitol Maistro model MCT365GS-L SS That I purchased from US Appliance. It is the propane gas model
The cooktop was installed and we have been using it for a few months with no issues. We really like it.
One day we had guests over for dinner and as I turned off the last burner, there was a loud bang and all the knobs and burners were flung up into the air. Fortunately, the pot that was cooking did not get thrown all over me. This happened right in front of 4 of us.
The next day I contacted the service department of the manufacturer ADCO Service and spoke to a representative named Jerry. I explained the situation and gave him the model number, serial number and a copy of the sales invoice.
Later that day I received an email from Jerry that said "We are searching for a servicer and should have one in a couple of days"
A week goes by with no word so I send a email asking what is happening. Jerry sends me an email saying that "We are still searching for a servicer in your area"
We live in Waynesville NC which is 40 minutes from Asheville and an hour and a half or so from Knoxville.
After 3 weeks from my original complaint with no results, I decided to get firmer with ADCO. I sent Jerry an email saying that his reply of "We are still searching for a servicer in your area" was unacceptable and that I was putting them on notice that if I didn't get contacted by a Servicer in 48 hours or a tracking number for a new unit shipped to me, I was going to take stronger action. I also said that if my property was damaged or a member of my family is injured or killed because of this defective cooktop, I would be sure to sue them for anything and everything I could.
There has been no response from either a service tech or Jerry at ADCO.
So besides posting about this issue on social media, what do you suggest is my next move? I have contacted an attorney but other than that, do any of you have any suggestions?

2024.05.21 10:43 -Proph3t- It's funny holding death in your hand

You can hold it. It looks different for everyone. Some people it's a gun, rope, knife. My death is a bag of pills.
I've done my research (and a test drive as it turned out) and I am 100% confident that this is a good few times the lethal dose. I fixed an error (leading to the first "test run") so I'm very sure this will kill me. They told me it would have last time, if the error hadn't happened. So I've fixed it, fairly confident in my success this time.
I do have many regrets. Not being better, not doing better. Does the good that I did outweigh the bad? Will my heart go against a feather? I have doubt, but whatever I get I deserve. Maybe I'll end up back here. That would be ironic.
I will see my family one last time tomorrow evening, it's a special event. Family is visiting from overseas so I can have a proper farewell, although they won't know. I look forward to it, and then going to sleep one last time.
There is an issue I need to solve beforehand but I have all of tomorrow to make a plan for it.
Maybe I'll go with my original solution but I am debating that. I'll figure it out. Thank you guys on reddit for years of entertainment, hopefully this is my last post.

Most of Vidnoz's AI face swap features offer a free trial service, but some features are limited, such as the resolution of images/videos and the size of the photo/video uploads. However, for users who want to try it out, the free trial of Vidnoz should generally meet your needs.
In terms of pricing, Vidnoz is on the expensive side as they have adopted a membership + credits system.

Vidnoz delivers excellent results, with no discernible traces of AI face swapping.
The service is available for free use.
The facial features align very well with the character's face, and the face shape is also a good match, although it cannot restore the character's facial lighting and shadows.
There's also a comparison button, you can press and hold it to compare with the original image. Additionally, it supports social media sharing and downloading.

After a face swap, the character's appearance in Vidnoz looks more natural than in DeepSwap, but the images from DeepSwap are more in keeping with the original character's expressions.
Vidnoz's facial appearance seems more harmonious, but DeepSwap's eyes and eyebrows are more reminiscent of the original character.

Video Face Swap (Score: 8/10)
Vidnoz supports GIFs and video face swapping. Free users can upload videos up to 100MB, while paid users can extend this to 500MB.
The free version supports face swap videos of up to 15 seconds, and sometimes you may need to queue.
With Deepswap, paying users can upload larger files of up to 500MB and videos of up to 10 minutes, which is essentially the same as Vidnoz.
Vidnoz's facial features tend to fit well with the face, maintaining consistency even when hair is covering parts of the face, making it look very natural and not like it has been altered with deepfake technology. However, some imperfections may still appear when the character is in motion.

Compared to Deepswap, Deepswap's character facial clarity is higher, and it also restores the character's expressions more accurately. Vidnoz seems to use some filters that beautify the character's image. You can clearly see that the video's color tone is different from the original.

Batch Photo Swap (Score:7/10)
After uploading a photo, the system will automatically recognize the facial features of the target person in the image. Then, you just need to upload the photo you want to replace it with.
The facial features are well-fitted to the face, and Vidnoz employs some image beautification techniques, making the person's face and features look more refined and attractive while retaining their original appearance.

In contrast, Deepswap lacks similar image beautification functions, but it is better at restoring some of the basic characteristics of the target person, making them look more like themselves, although the features are not as refined as those in Vidnoz.

The images generated by Vidnoz resemble oil paintings. Deepswap's results are more cartoon-like, but the quality is average. Both still need improvement.

Pros:

Excellent photo face-swapping results, with automatic beautification of images.
Excellent video face-swapping effects, with automatic color correction tailored for videos.
A variety of additional features, including AI virtual characters, AI avatars, Talking photos, and more.

Cons:

The price is relatively high, as all AI features are bundled together for sale. For face swap users, it's unnecessary to purchase the entire suite just for the other AI functionalities.

Conclusion:
Vidnoz offers an exceptional and excellent photo/video face swap service. All the generated images and videos look incredibly natural, without any significant AI traces.
Moreover, the generated pictures and videos are enhanced with some facial beautification work, including color adjustment.
If you're just a casual face swap user, then 720P images and 15-second videos will perfectly meet your needs.
The face swap quality of Vidnoz is impeccable. However, if you're a heavy user, you'll have to spend a considerable amount of money to purchase Vidnoz's AI capabilities bundle, which I don't think is worth it.
If you're a heavy user and only want to spend a little money to experience more face swap features, then I suggest you try Deepswap. After all, they offer similar face swap quality, but at a more affordable price.

Although this guy isn’t as heavy as #1 it’s a bit heavier than you’d expect. Solid Blade, good Action, only thing was that this guy came coated in like the worst blue coating. It got scratchy if you looked at it funny. So I put some elbow grease into using a scotch-brite pad to take off that coating but left it in the grooves and in the switch track etc. I think it looks 1000% cooler this way but it has been rather heavily modified. Paid 40 plus Tax on Aliexpress, so save yourself 20 bucks and a four week wait.

Blurb: This is the knife I used to teach myself front-flipping. And I highly recommend it in this regard. I can front flip all kinds of stuff now. These things are going for 79.95 on amazon. The micarta is soft and the blade is sharp. Save yourself 30 bucks.

These are going for about 55 plus tax on Ali, I’ll save you 25 bucks and the four week wait.

Blurb: If you’ve spent any time on the Chinese knives Sub you’ve heard of this guy. It was one of those knives that did a few minor tweaks to the original to come up with something perhaps slightly better, like including both front and rear flipper in addition to the hole, and including a longer backspacer. Someone had one tested and I think the verdict is generally that it is M390. Anyway, I have purchased four of these for the purposes of testing various surface mods like polishing and or burnishing and anodizing, and I just never got around to messing with this one, it’s still 100% stock. These are retailing on Ail for 113 but I’ll save you 20 bucks and the four week-wait.

Blurb: I threw out the cheap washers that came with the Aluminum Radiation pattern bugout and replaced them with real phosphor bronze washers from USA Knife Maker. The 0.5 cm ones, not the oem .33 cm ones. As a result, the action on this guy is just glassy. At least as good as my OEM bugouts. The narrows I’m throwing in at substantial discount. This is the OK knives version, so it’s not the one that totally sucks, probably titanium scales even (they weren’t magnetic). The real score here is that you’re getting a bugout that definitely has that smooth glossy action which can be hard to find on even an OEM bugout sometimes. Still saving you at least 25 bucks over what I paid for these and no-four-week-wait.

For sale is a great condition 1970's Seiko Bullhead, with the original fishbone bracelet.
It is black dial/teal subdials, and all original except for the chronograph timer hand (yellow second's head that is activated when the chronograph timer is started). I think this was repainted since the yellow paint is a little off.
It was serviced some years ago and not worn since.
