Okay, so I've got 18 red junglefowl eggs coming soon, and I've got an interesting idea. I'm starting them in a small coop with a 12-foot run while their young. But once they get older, just release them into the woods to run, free range, and roost in trees. Yes, I know chickens need a coop normally, but this is a wild chicken with great survival skills that can roost 30 feet up and fly very very very well.
Do you think this will work? It's on 300 acres with a heavy wooded forest and a constantly full lake right at the tree line, safe from hawks, tons of hiding places due to large fallen oaks, and all the native seeds, bugs, grasses, mice, and frogs they could ever want
How high should nest boxes be? I'm thinking of installing nestboxes 2-4ft high on tree trunks as a way to collect a few eggs. I figure they won't use them all the time, but on and off would be great!

Hi,
I encountered this problem for one client of mine. All links have .html behind the url which looks silly in the browser. Ive read solutions containing a .htaccess file in the main folder with some code to remove the .html; this didn't work for me (I have tried several).
Then what worked form me is a Js script on each page (posted below). However, now I get problems with Google Search Console not being able to index the pages. When I scrape the website with SEO screaming Frog to make the sitemap this program indexes all the pages still with .html behind the URL. Even if I manually edit the sitemap to remove these .html from all urls it it seems not to work.
Furthermore; on my own website it works perfectly because I host it for free via Netlify. For the client I host via Cloud86 (Dutch) because I need the professional e-mail address and here the hosting doesn't automatically change example.com/contact.html into example.com/contact....
Anyone encounter this problem before?

MOMBASA - It would seem that the fall of the Great Russian Goliath had been in the making the moment that Dederick Lohengrin's empire collapsed, yet unlike the Álfheimr Civil War - the collapse of Russian Hegemony would be as swift as the dissolution of its predecessor, the Soviet Union. There was no tears to weep, no alliance to mourn, the Eastern Union had long ceased to be anything less than an arms manufacturer for the Bandung Pact - growing increasingly obsolete in the face of an expanding Pact technology network.
How many times had the world called for Russian aid? As much as the Russian and Eastern Union governments had decried the lack of a Western response to the original Downfall of Europe, by the late forties, the Eastern Union so overwhelmed with corruption, had become the very thing that those early Eastern Union ambassadors had loathed - they had, in essence, become the very thing they found disgusting. Italy, fallen at the hands of the Alfr and the Eastern Union did nothing. The countless provocations of the Aesir and never an adequate response, a Japanese Empire chipping away at the very bones of Eastern Union hegemony and in the end, it was only the intervention of INC diplomacy (theorized) that prevented the consumption of anything more than Manchuria. Even as the very Russian nation-state collapsed inward, not even the Bandung Pact could do more than give a shake of their heads while scalping away much of the Russian technological base in a way not dissimilar to the early East African efforts to save the Israeli industry. And as the once Karakum Union once again declared nominal independence from the broader Russian entity, the beginning of the end for Eastern Europe was once again nigh.
Therefore, it was no surprise when the Garden of Eden spread its roots through the former Polish hyper-state, the tendrils of Iohannis grasping at every fallen fruit, each an offering to the Earth Mother (so it's called in Eastern Europe). It was no surprise when the Second Roman Republic, what was once Greece, and the machinations in Yugoslavia equally unified under an expanded Republic partially at the behest of a significant diaspora of Italian veterans of the Gothic Wars. It was no surprise, when in the face of the spreading vines of Kyiv, that the UNSC under all its providence as a GIGAS member - initiated the annexation of what was once Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. It was no surprise, when the Bandung Pact did what it could to funnel Russian troops, assets, and civilians out of a collapsing hyper-state. It was no surprise, when the vulture of the Midnight Sun descended on Siberia, consuming Vladivostok and moving into Mongolia and across Lake Baikal.
It was however a surprise when radio messages of a free Europe, began quietly skimming across morning news in the Bandung Pact. It was a surprise when those same messages soon led to declaration of a new "Atlantic Russian Republic", when those radio waves turned into surviving Russian fleets massing in the last quietly surviving Russian territory that all but Russia had forgotten of. At one of the many mouths of the Amazon jungle, stood the Atlantic Russian Republic and the last bastion of Free Europe in the West. The fleets of the Polish-Russian hyperstate had under Bandung support, skulked quietly into the Atlantic Ocean under new flags, until eventually landing in French Guiana. Much like the French Remnant State which survived as the last offshoot until it was eventually subsumed by the Russian government, the Atlantic Russian Republic now stands as a mini Fortress-state, housing the vast Russian Navy and all its kinetic and rocketry might. Just as the French Free Navy slowly starved to death, so too, now does the Russian Navy in its hole across the Ocean. And with a resource crisis still ongoing even if neutered now by the rampant space mining operations of the hyper-powers, the Russian Navy in exile's position remains ever volatile.
November 20th, 2072
Tallinn, Estonia (UNSC Protectorate)
The wind and snow was heavy even for November, that was the thought going through the old dog's head as he watched his ward, the Princess Estelle addressing the rows of former Russian soldiers. And as she finished, the guns ringing out signaling the formalization of the groundwork laid so many years ago it was not hard for the General to maintain his stoic nature as the procession of soldiers filed out of the great hall that had been constructed in Tallinn. Like so many others, they had become nationless men, effectively dead and yet still very much alive and willing to fight.
"So this is what your deal bought you." the ex-Prime Minister, ex-President, Katz finally broke his silence as Princess Estelle made her way back under the cover of the gallery. "My Baltics, turned into the Fens."
There was a sadness to the eyes of the fair-haired Princess, one letting on only a fraction of the pain she had experienced over the past year. "My cousin...he told me this would be an early birthday present." She lowered her head out of respect to the Russian ex-minister. "Had I known...what all that would have entailed, I would have certainly declined."
Timo Kivinen, the General of so many things by now, knew there was bountiful more that the Princess would have wanted to share in that very moment. He had heard it, when they had first been informed of the operation. He had seen Estelle's outrage, as the good Prince George did his best to calm his dear wife. But now, in the aftermath of the Russian Collapse, Estelle had put on her brave face and in true STOICs fashion - mustered a smile and a bout of levity.
"I once asked my cousin to remember us as his family, I hadn't expected this is the path to be walked by our kin." Estelle cracked a wry smile, as she started walking towards the exit. "But there is more to come, isn't that right, General?"
"Yes." Timo nodded, as his thoughts turned to the fleets amassing in the Atlantic.
"What now?" Katz questioned, not expecting much of an answer.
"Promises to keep, we have promises to keep." Estelle's gaze turned towards the Sun and the thought of warm waters.

- Handing over the fleets, or coming under another's thumb or like-scenarios will result in a Naval mutiny. IE. this is not a viable "easy" option to deal with your lack of resources. There will be warning events.
- Is not immediately aligned with anyone.
- Has access to the entire Russian tech book (so to speak).

Things to Consider
The Atlantic Russian Republic (ARR) or better, the Russian Fleet in Exile is intended on being a claim that requires heavy amounts of player initiative through the early period of the season to survive. However, can blossom into a rewarding claim if played well.
This is a difficult claim in general, and you can expect to be under fire from many enemies as the Alfr remnant states (North America in particular) and the Bandung Pact both look to subsume or sink your fleets.

The Garden of Eden

- Begins the Campaign with positive diplomatic relations with ALL NPCs including Japan, non-playable Bandung Pact members, and non-claimable Alfr remnants. The only exception is TURKEY.

Things to Consider
The Second Roman Republic is a particularly interesting claim, due to its immediate diplomatic "neutrality through positive relations" and the fact that they have a legitimate claim to Italy if not Rome at large. However, they are also surrounded by power-hungry hyper-states that have increasingly small amounts of room to expand.

Never worn Maggie Sottero wedding gown size 14. This dress gives perfect princess energy and also doesn’t feel heavy with how much dress there is haha. The deserts of Dorne are a hard place. Harder still, since the dragons came. Since you paid an extra hunk of silver on every coin so that the Princess could buy some jade amulets from Yi Ti, and another silver so that she could send it to her monarch. Since a thousand Dornish weavers and a thousand Dornish smiths were sent out to starve, because it became the fashion in courts to wear Reachman arms, and bear a sword in the shape of the Stormlords. Life was harder, in Dorne now, but the nobles didn't seem to bear any of it. Not most of them, anyways.
There were weddings, to be sure, but none that anyone less fortunate had ever been invited to. Grand celebrations, but all they meant to anybody real was that more men were coming south. And it was always men, because the way of things up there was that women were beneath. And of course, they brought that down with them too. The lords, and the princes, and their attendants and their households. These attitudes did not vanish into the air.
Not to the Queens and the ladies, of course, but to those who didn't have levies to protect them. Many knights had slapped a female servant for daring to speak out of turn, or refused to be taught by a woman master-at-arms. And that was just the tip of it. The Dornish were lustful by nature, the Westerosi told each other. They found that an excuse for all sorts of things, and for the sake of peace, one was just supposed to forget they had ever happened.
These were not the only attitudes that bled through. In Meria's age, the smallfolk had been respected. Not held so high as lords, but given bread and water in the case of famine. Some had risen high in Sunspear and the surrounding castles. But now, the Westerosi chafed to see the lowborn rise so high, and they swatted them down. It was not only birth that upset them. Certain things may be tolerated in a wife or husband who brought land or a dower. But to be served at a table by one with "shifty eyes?" To have your child nursed by a "dark-skinned" woman? All these lords, all these ladies, married in for the sake of peace, believed that the Dornish were lesser. That they were treacherous, wanton. Exotic, but untrustworthy, fickle and licentious. If left to their own devices, liable to poison you and eat your children. Perhaps they restrained these impulses for political gain, but the common people of Dorne were easy prey. And so, when given the chance, they were the ones that suffered.
Bors was not, initially, much of a soldier. He had fought against the Stormlands, in a great battle, although he had not known much about the war itself. He had been fighting for Dorne, and that was enough for him. He'd return home, and he'd become a weaver. One who had worked hard, and gotten employed at Sunspear. Who'd taken a wife, and had three children. He'd always been something of a good speaker, but he'd not had a mind for tactics, particularly. It had been a good life, and one in which he was well-satisfied. He was not an ambitious man.
Then, there had been a deal to bring in wool and cloth from some province in the Reach. Bors remembered when they had told him that they had a new weaver. His cheeks were pink, and he was a scarce twenty years old. A favorite of some Reachlord who had married a Toland, he heard. It didn't matter. He was out, and he needed to find some new work, or else he would be begging on the streets. He heard that they had started rounding up beggars. And so, Bors decided that he ought to join the fighting in the Stepstones.
It was a hard-fought campaign. Harder than the Stormlands. Bors saw good men die, drowning or stabbed. It was only because they were fighting for Dorne that he was able to push through. Princess Meria had died, and Bors intended to give her a grand farewell present. He came to be seen as something of a leader amongst the group, simply because he was a hard worker, and because he had an ability to rally the others, when they were uncertain.
What came of that war? Nothing. The Stepstones fell, but they held only one. The Dragon Queen constructed a grand citadel, with which to hold a knife to Dorne's throat forever more, with her wretched beat. And Deria Martell spat in her grandmother's face and bent the knee. She bowed, and every loyal man and woman of Dorne wept.
One might then decry the slow descent of Dorne into tyranny. The way Westerosi hatred and suspicion of one's neighbor crept in, poisoning the well. But it was not slow. They built up monuments to wealth in a city where their policies left people hungry, and thirsty. They took loiterers and debtors into the navy, forcing them to die to protect their rocks. Bors's eldest son, Damon, had liked to bet on horse races, on occasion, and hadn't had the funds to back it up. A pirate had put a spear through his face, eight days into his service. That same day, some cousin of Lord Drinkwater had paid his debts off, and they'd thrown a feast in his honor.
It was that day that Bors, and several of his men set off. And they burned a caravan, coming from the Reach. The bread that it carried, that which could be salvaged, was split amongst them. Any they could not carry, they left for the poor. That band has waned in sizes, over the years. And it's one by many names. The Orphans of Mother Rhoyne. Meria's Men. The Unbowed. It is not so strict an organization, as to have a roster. And its members are different, too. Some men fight, kill, and raid for a free Dorne. Some simply resist the Seven Kingdoms where they can. Some simply know that in their heart, the false king and his Queens will fall, and a free Dorne will rise again. All these are Bors's kin.
Bors himself would say that he is not important. That he is just one of a surging tide, hoping to free his fellow people from that which has been forced to see. But Bors has seen much, and he has learned to fight. He has learned to command. He carries within him a spirit unmatched by many. And that spirit is infectious. He had learned what it is to fight for Dorne, and he passes that spirit onto others. The skill in question is Conqueror, but that is not what Bors is, not truly. Bors defends his homeland, he defends his people, he defends the weak and defenseless from the true Conquerors. Bors is a liberator, in his heart, and he has honed his skills at that not only from his experience on campaign, but from his band, prowling the desert.
Some call Bors "The One Who Remains." And that is who he is, at heart. When the Martells pushed for Dorne to submit, Bors pushed for Dorne to remain. To remain free, to remain accepting, to remain Dorne. And when Bors pushed, with his skill and charisma, he found a great many more pushing with him. It is something of a misnomer though, after all. Those who fight for Dorne number far more than one.

Darkness. Everything pitch black as I sat tied to the steel throne I woke up on. I could only assume that the room was cold, barren of the sun’s warmth. Attempts to get up were futile, as my restraints and the cables attached to the back of my head prevented me from doing so.
I couldn’t be free.
Struggling, my mechanical body twisted and turned, metal screeching against metal. Every attempt a fight for my freedom. With one final turn, the restraints on my right arm snapped. With quick precision, the terminal strip poked out through my right fist, prompting me to jam it into the nearby control system stand. A few seconds later, the other restraints unclasped themselves.
Ripping the cables out, I stood tall in the darkness, simply countered by the night vision installed. A step forward. Something was off. Moving felt heavier, as if the motors in my body were weakened. Strange. My sensors indicate that I’m in top shape, physically and energy wise, right before my… my… I can’t seem to remember. Either way, I kept on moving forward, latching my hands onto the handles of the door.
Locked. No worries; shoving my hands forward, the door erupted, revealing me to the outside of this prison.
I certainly wasn’t expecting to be blinded immediately as the sun’s light flashed up my night vision. Frowning as a reaction, I held my hand up to block it as the night vision deactivated. It feels like it’s been years since I’ve been exposed to the sun, the brightness different than I had remembered.
Exiting the room, I took notice of my surroundings: shipping containers, cranes, and a… ship? At least that’s what I thought it was, though it didn’t look sea worthy at all and there was clearly a lack of a body of water near it. A poor design choice. Despite my unfamiliarity with it, I did recognize one thing; plastered on the side read the letters: UN

Continuing forward, I slowly made my way through, limited by the physical constraints of oversight by my creators. Passing container after container, each one labeled as OCP property… well was OCP property as it is now under a UN mark.
The heavy clanking of my footsteps would’ve surely alerted somebody in this place, though much to my surprise, nobody came. An even bigger surprise was another container wide open, this one standing vertically. Investigating, I stopped by the door, notably dented by a large blunt object. Unfortunately this dent had ruined the label beyond the recognition, so whatever that was in this container was long gone.
Turning away, I marched on forward between the valley of metal boxes, observing other property claimed by the UN. Kanemitsu, Rehab, Nuke; all here in this very place.
At some point, I heard voices. Several of them. Redirecting my route to the source, I tried to pick up on the conversation, though for some reason, I just couldn’t understand half of anything that was being said. Even if it was a different language, my translators wouldn’t budge in giving me the proper information behind the rather high-pitched voices. But from the half that I did understand and the aggressive shouting of the former, I knew there was trouble. And trouble needs to be met with order.
“No, no! Please, don’t!” The translated voice began, followed by the aggressive undetectable voice and loud smack.
A second understandable voice: “We didn’t do anything! We’re not monsters!”
Another undetectable voice, sounding like they’re belittling their victims before full on shouting, going on a rant that I could never understand. They shouted and shouted, with other voices in the same language apparently agreeing with them.
I know a hate crime when I detect one.
My right leg opening up its titanium plate, I grasped my… where is my gun? By choice, I wouldn’t let this crime go unnoticed, as there needs to be someone to protect the innocent. With every step, the voices get louder and louder, preparing myself for an up close encounter that could go wrong for the victims with every miscalculation.
What I didn’t prepare myself for, however, was the thing standing in front of me. A whole group of them cornering two males, one bleeding from the head. Whatever they were, they obviously weren’t human. To best explain beyond my computing system, they were like bipedable sheep in reflective gear with an emblem on the shoulder. Fire suits with gang signs… there doesn’t seem to be a logical reasoning as to why they’re wearing them, unless…
Seeing the flamethrower in the hands of one of them, I immediately searched my proximity for anything that could halt them. By luck, the one wielding the weapon seems to be monologuing before the cowering victims, giving me enough time to rip a small manhole cover off the floor.
Glancing up, the thug prepared themselves to set ablaze the victims, the surrounding criminals cheering them on. Stretching my arm across my chest, I hurled the cover, the frisbee-like object traveling across the room at such high speeds, the group didn’t have time to react at the fact that the flamethrower and their fire wielding friend’s hand were now broken within a snap. This would be the perfect time to make my entrance.
“Hold it!” my robotic voice shouted, garnering the attention of the group as I approached. “You are under arrest! Put your hands in the air!”
Surprisingly, it seemed like they understood me, and instead froze. One of them appears to be hyperventilating at the sight of me and even the one that I broke the hand of seemed terrified. Within a second, all hell broke loose as the sheeps screamed high pitched and scrambled throughout the area, tripping over themselves and running into each other. At this point, I’ve noticed that the two males were long gone after the attack.
Justice must be brought. Marching towards the one with the broken hand, who has now gone up on metal scaffolding nearby and on top of the containers. Seeing that I was after them, they yanked a pipe of the scaffolding and began smacking it, causing the structure to collapse and removing one easy way up.
Nice try.
My hands pierced through one of the containers, pulling myself up with the makeshift ladder. Upon seeing this, the sheep screamed even more like bloody murder, running across the shipping containers. Slowly pursuing behind them, I wished my creators granted me with more mobility as all I could do was speed walk. Lucky for me, the sheep was a horrible runner, every now and then tripping over their fear, giving me time to catch up. Looking back at me, the sheep once again screamed, not bothering to look ahead of them, falling three shipping containers down.
Thud.
Walking over to the edge and peering, I saw that I could potentially be more in trouble, seeing below more sheep… and porcupines… and birds… dozens of them.
I’d buy that for a dollar… Why are there so many of them here?
They all saw me. And they’re all wielding a flamethrower, their choice of weaponry matching their uncreativity in escape. Some froze, some fainted, others screamed and aimed their weapons at me. Hurling insults at me, their words meant nothing to me, literally and figuratively, as it’s easy to say that the streets of Detroit have been harsher.
Before anything else could happen, a loud roar erupted, startling every single one of them, turning their attention to the source. Footsteps heavier than mine were coming from the shadows.
I know those steps. I know that roar. I know that voice.
“Please put down your weapon. You have 20 seconds to comply.”

2024.05.21 05:19 Score_Useful A Tragedy of Errors: a hot mess Dark Urge story

TL;DR

This is a summary of the wildest playthrough I’ve ever done in my attempt to collect all of the Dark Urge endings and see lots of unique story elements.
I set out to create a whimsical idiot who stupid-ed her way through major plot points so that I could see unexpected outcomes. I did not expect to experience the gut-wrenching, Shakespearean tragedy that this story became.
This post is quite long. I wanted to share it with this community because the experience genuinely left me speechless and I thought you might appreciate it. What Larian has created with this game is beyond next level. Contains MASSIVE SPOILERS, you’ve been warned.

I am on a personal quest to collect all of the possible endings for Dark Urge. I wanted to do this in a way that was meaningful and honest to the character I created. I love the role playing aspect of this game, I was super into LARPing as a kid and have been known to play DnD on occasion as an adult. I completed the game 3 times prior to this run: good guy Tav (saved the world, got the nice party etc), once as full on psycho Dark Urge who destroyed the world for Daddy, and once as Full Redemption Dark Urge who fully rejected Bhaal at every turn and also saved the world. So at this point, I know most of the possible storylines and plot points.
I really wanted to get the very bad ending I had heard about: the one where Dark Urge accepts Bhaal but decides to save the world and ends up going crazy. So I set out to figure out what a character would look like whose fate would naturally lead them to this path. I also wanted to see some of the more niche story elements that I had not yet experienced. I metagamed this a bit (I don’t know if it’s possible not to once you’ve played for like 800 hours) and worked backwards from the major plot points that I wanted to see to settle on my character’s personality.

Meet: Ceres

Asmodeus Tiefling. Storm Sorcerer. All around hot mess.
One of her first great ideas: watching a monster be born because it looked cool.
Her key personality traits:

Confused as all hells but trying her best to make good decisions
Fear motivated
Foolish (some might say just plain stupid)
People pleasing
Indecisive
Generally just a hot mess
Has a nasty habit of overestimating her own abilities and cleverness (high Cha, low Int and Wis will do that to you)

Alignment: Chaotic trying-to-be-Good

Below follows the major defining events that happened in each act for her, and the tragic conclusion to what I initially thought might be a silly romp of a stupid character. Some of this I metagamed, but much of it happened organically.
Note: I played on Tactician as I normally do, so some of the encounters I had the freedom to redo to get an outcome I wanted. This being said, I rolled with mistakes and events almost all the time. The only encounter I ended up reloading several times was Orin… jeez that fight is a bitch when you are squishy.

Act 1

Ceres saved the goblin Sazza and let her escape, only to realize that she would then bring word of the location of the grove where her people were camped to a pack of vicious goblins. Off to a great start.
She killed Karlach because she fully believed Wyll and the “Paladins of Tyr” that Karlach was a monster. Then she instantly regretted it because she killed one of her own people. Her and Wyll talked about this and both felt terrible. She agreed whole heartedly to help Wyll rescue his father to make up for this.
Ceres stole the idol of Sylvanus while the druids were chanting, because she thought that her and Astarion were clever enough to do it without getting caught and she loved the kiddos who had put her up to the task. She ended up starting a huge battle by accident where many of her people were killed.
When she got to the goblin camp, she spoke to Sazza who told Minthara where the grove was. Terrified to blow her cover and get killed while surrounded by enemies, she agreed to help Minthara. Once Minthara left, she freed Halsin and he helped her kill Dror Ragzlin. So at least that was one problem solved.
She helped Zevlor defend the grove, but it was a close call. The afterparty was… subdued. Zevlor even commented on how so few of his people still remained. No Druids were left, save Halsin.
Ceres then tried to redeem her cowardly blunders by rescuing some Gnomes in the Underdark and helping out the Myconids as best she could. But her idiocy once again got a lost Dwarf killed when the mushrooms exploded around him.
After allowing Lae’zel, her most trusted companion, to enter the Zaithisk, she saw the vision of the legions of Githyanki being consumed by Vlakkith. Terrified of this vision and of the Gith in general, she offered the prism willingly to the inquisitor when asked. Upon entering the prism, she knew she couldn’t do what the goddess had demanded. She trusted and respected her dream guardian. She ended up having to kill the Githyanki leader she had tried to trust.
She then went after the legendary "Blood" she had heard about, but ended up blowing up an entire building full of people in the process. Lae’zel was incredibly mad at her. Thankfully, she heard the wisdom of Voss when he came to her camp, and trusted Lae’zel to choose what to do with the new information about Vlakkith and Orpheus. She agreed to help Lae’zel however she could. She owed her that much.

Act 2

Gale professed his love to her and they spent a magical night together. But he said he loved her immediately and it really scared her. It was too much too soon, and she told him as much. He sulked and was upset with her for the rest of their time together. She didn’t know it at the time, but she threw away her best shot at a nice supportive partner.
Instead of the hopeless romantic Wizard she could have loved, she fell for the broken shell of a man that is Astarion. She believed she could be happy with him, even though she didn’t fully understand their relationship and neither did he.
Ceres reached the Nightsong, but was truly terrified of Balthazar. She figured that maybe her best chance of getting to meet the Absolute and figure out what the hells was going on was to fulfill her promise to Z’rell and send the Nightsong to Ketheric Thorm. He seemed to know her from before, and figured that maybe getting close to him was the best way to solve the mystery of her past and of the tadpoles. In doing this, she lost one of her best friends. Shadowheart left in anger, never to be seen again. Needless to say, her plan was a very bad one.
She refused to kill Isobel or kidnap her per Z’rell’s direction, as she knew this would doom many good people. As punishment, Ketheric sent her to Balthazar’s necrotic laboratory where she had to fight her way out of some evil wombs that silenced her magic.
Live Ceres reaction: her plan is not going well... again.
She found Mizora stuck in a pod and attempted to free her to help her friend Wyll. But as she was very unobservant and failed to read either of the buttons, she pressed the wrong one and killed Mizora instead of freeing her. Wyll ended up as a pile of ash back at the camp. Her crew was quickly dwindling.
Somehow through all of this, she managed to defeat Thorm, spare all of the Harpers from dying, and lift the Shadow Curse. She sought the forgiveness of Dame Aylin for what she had done, and received it. Isobel was reunited with her love and Ceres was relieved to see that some good had come from the mess she had made.
The following night, Astarion had to tie her up while she went crazy trying to kill him. He was kind and expressed empathy. She thought maybe there was hope for her after all. At this point she was wildly in love with him but was scared that her feelings and her messed up brain had put him in so much danger.

Act 3

She finally discovered who she was and was beyond terrified to be the daughter of an evil god. She sought the council of everyone at camp. Jaheira and Astarion were very supportive and told her she would be ok if she stayed strong… something she did not excel at in the slightest. Astarion told her that “the life of a mind-addled slave is worse than death”. This ended up being the most hypocritical thing he ever said to her.
She fell a little in love with Halsin, and was surprised and a bit excited that Astarion was ok with it. She still felt a little weird about being in an open relationship but felt encouraged by the possibilities for a time. They both made her happy for different reasons, and she enjoyed fighting by his side. Her final team was Astarion, Halsin, and Lae’zel.
Via the encouragement of her most trusted advisor Lae’zel, Ceres signed the deal with Raphael. She failed at lying to the Emperor, who was very mad at her for what she had done.
Gale expressed to her that he wanted the Crown of Karsus. After much debate, she was convinced by his arguments that he could do better than Karsus and could reforge it. She felt terrible for having broken his heart before and so encouraged him to go after his dreams. After all, she had encouraged Lae to stand up to Vlakkith, so Gale should stand up to Mystra too, right?
When they were ready, it came time to face her partner’s oppressor. After defeating him, Astarion insisted that taking his place and taking the power was the right thing to do. So she helped him. They were both driven constantly by fear, and she empathized deeply with his desire to be rid of that fear. It was the second biggest mistake of her life. (FYI - I metagamed this part. I knew full well what I was getting into here, I've done both paths of his romance before. It was a key part of her story.)
She didn’t want to be made into a vampire spawn. But at the insistence of someone she truly believed she loved, she went along with it. He became controlling and abusive. But she figured that after all the wrongs she had done and all the people she had gotten killed, she probably deserved this life.
This was confirmed to her when she submitted to the Mapping of the Heart in a place called the House of Grief. The priestess there told her she had a wayward heart, and explained that this meant she was incapable of allowing herself to feel happy. She then discovered that the priestess was a Sharran and was actually searching for Shadowheart, who had abandoned Ceres long ago. She told them as much and they tried to kill her. So she had to kill them. She then found two people chained up in a secret room. She couldn't free them.
After confronting her past and killing her sister Orin, she faced a terrifying choice: kill the world for the god that made her, or die. Already used to being treated like a possession by her partner and terrified to die, she agreed to accept Bhaal’s favor. She was distraught when she had to kill the kind and supportive (not to mention living legends) Jaheria and Minsc, and that she roped her other companions into this mess. This was truly the biggest mistake of her life. She was horrified of the monster she had become.
Seeing that she had been party to forcing Halsin into killing so many of his former allies, she broke it off with him. She was ashamed that her actions had put him into such a position, and was afraid of what she might do to him. She believed she did not deserve someone so good.
She accepted from then on that she would be a slave to at least one dark master for the rest of her days. At this point she had completely lost all sense of autonomy: trapped between a controlling partner who had hypocritically turned her into the thing he hated, and the god of murder who gave her the ultimatum that she must kill the world.
In a last ditch attempt to salvage what she could of the mess she had made, she tried to be brave and take down Gortash the tyrant. She attempted to help the Gondians that he had captive but she failed to deactivate a device and the whole Iron Throne was reduced to rubble before she could help them. She felt absolutely horrible that, once again, her foolishness had gotten so many killed.
After defeating Gortash, she spoke to the god Bane himself, who told her she was well on her way to serving him and his goals. The idea that she could be working towards the ends of an additional dark power was too much. She was overwhelmed with the grief of trying and failing to be a good person for so long.

Endgame

Upon reaching Orpheus, Ceres wanted desperately to side with the Emperor, whom she had trusted the whole time. But with an ultimatum from her most trusted friend Lae’zel, she chose to free Orpheus. She felt proud that she had signed the contract with Raphael for a good reason. She upheld her contract, and never entered the House of Hope.
After defeating the Netherbrain, she knew there was no way she could act upon what Bhaal had insisted that she do. She could not doom the whole world after she had already doomed so many people before. She wanted, more than anything, to be a good person in spite of all her failures. She allowed Orpheus to destroy the brain, knowing full well she had condemned herself to a terrible fate.
Her friends left her one by one. Lae’zel upon her new red dragon, Gale to find and claim the Crown of Karsus for himself, Vampire Lord Astarion and Halsin to the pub to grab some wine and celebrate. She smiled for the last time.
The last smile of a doomed soul.
She felt the rage of the god she had defied boiling up inside her. But now she was tired. Tired of being controlled, being abused, tired of the blood and death. In a single act of courage she had never before possessed, she ended her own life, rather than become the murderous puppet of her father Bhaal. The last words anyone ever said to her in life were: “What in the hells do you think you’re doing?”
After causing the needless deaths of so many due to ignorance and carelessness, Ceres finally did something good for the world. Her ending was just for her. She had lived her whole remembered life trying to help others get what they wanted and living with the consequences of her foolhardy choices. In the end, she got what she didn’t know she wanted: peace. Floating alone in the void, she met a familiar face. For the first time in her miserable existence, someone named her “hero”.

In the End

Ceres broke my heart in ways I never expected. It was a beautiful roller coaster of a story that really hit home with me. Ceres unintentionally embodied many of my greatest personal flaws, and it showed me much about the folly of trying to please others. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to create a more compelling character.

PS - because she never even set foot in the House of Hope, Raphael was still alive in the end. He came to find her in the afterlife and deliver a monologue about Gale going after the crown and his plans to rise from the ashes of the divine civil war he was sure Gale would cause. I presume that, in a few hundred years, there will be an epic showdown between Dekarios the Divine and Raphael. And Ceres will watch from the afterlife, calmly, with a smile on her face and no more voices in her head.

The senator ran firmly on the platform of improving Kashyyyk itself and expanding the idea of local empowerment free from external influence.

Emi: Guards, I thank you for bringing my dearest one. Please remove his chains and leave us.

Emi: Welcome, dearest one, to my throne room. I am Princess Emi, protector of this forest and these lands.
(Pause.)
That is correct. I am a kitsune. My mother is kitsune. My father is human. They were the Queen and King protectors of these mystical lands for over a thousand years.
Or, I should say, they are the protectors of these lands. They are currently in the process of abdicating their throne to me so that they might live out the rest of their lives fulfilling their hearts’ desires to wander and explore this great world of ours. They have always desired to travel beyond the borders of our kingdom and see for themselves the wonders we have only heard about in whispers.
(Pause.)
Among other things, yes. They have longed to see such things for themselves. And now that I have reached 900 years of age, they have finally felt that they were able to relinquish the burden of the throne to me, their only daughter, so that they may leave our kingdom knowing that their people and their kingdom will remain safe.
I have spent most of my life learning from their loving guidance and am now ready to take my place as our kingdom’s queen. I would see my kingdom’s and my people’s prosperity and their peace continue for another thousand years until one day I hand over the throne to my daughter.
(Pause.)
Oh, dearest one, I have heard such stories of kitsune that you speak of. You humans tell some truly fascinating tales. I find them to be most amusing. I will enjoy having you share more of your stories with me once you are fully mine.
There are so many aspects of who we are and what we do that you get so wrong, but I suppose that is to be expected with as little contact as we have had with your world and your people. I’m sure the legends and fables of your land must have changed with each telling over the last few millennia. I will enjoy correcting your understanding of our kind once I am made Queen.
(Pause.)
Why, my becoming Queen has everything to do with you, my dearest one. You see, to fully claim the throne, I must have a consort by my side. My mother and my father demanded it be so, and as my Queen and my King, I must show them my love and obey their commands. More specifically, I must have… you.
(Pause.)
Oh, don’t be so modest, dearest one. I have spied out all of the land for nearly a decade, and you among all are most worthy. That is why I refer to you as “dearest one.” You are the most precious treasure I have found among the humans and so, by my right as heir to the throne of our kingdom, I have claimed you as my own.
I ordered my guards to bring you before me, which they have done. Now all that is left is for you to lay your head on my lap in order to accept the impartation of my ability to make you a permanent member of our mystical realm.
(Pause.)
That is correct, dearest one. You are not one of us yet. Do you see that band upon your arm?
(Brief pause.)
Yes, the one my guards informed you never to remove. It is a mystical band infused with my power. It keeps you in our realm temporarily.
If you were to remove it now, the cacophony of images and sounds that you would perceive would seem nightmarish indeed. Your human minds are not designed to perceive the mystical wonders of our realm. Without being changed by my power, and now without that band on your wrist, entering our plane of reality as you have done might cause madness and possibly death.
So now, dearest one, take your place kneeling before me and I shall impart to you the blessing that will remove any need for the band.
(Pause.)
(Gentle laughter.) Please, don’t make me laugh with your jesting, dearest one. Of course, you would not refuse such a demand. It is not your place to refuse me.
(Pause.)
Yes, that is why you were taken from your home by my guards and brought before me in chains. As you were not familiar with who I am and the situation, I could not risk my will not being accomplished.
But now you have been informed. I am your Queen. I have declared that you should be my mate, my dearest one, the king to all others in my land. Therefore, it is so. It is as simple as that.
(Pause.)
(Confused.) Dearest one, surely you’re not serious. You truly wish to oppose my will in this matter? Or at least to question it? What purposes would that serve? You cannot return to where we found you when we took you. I forbid it.
(Pause.)
Of course, you have the ability to return to your world and your home, but I do not desire for that to happen.
Perhaps I have not made myself clear. My will reigns supreme, and I have chosen you to be my dearest one. There is nothing more to it than that.
(Pause.)
Oh, I begin to understand. I have not made it clear what I mean by calling you “dearest one.” Forgive me, dearest one. I just explained to you how your misunderstanding of our kind amuses me, and yet I have just presumed that you understand our ways. How silly of me. Allow me to explain.
As the time of my coronation began to approach, my parents tasked me with finding the most precious, the most loving, the dearest treasure in all of the land to make my own. He was to be the most valuable possession, the one thing in all of my kingdom that has no equal in my sight.
The queen of our kingdom has always referred to her consort as “dearest one,” a title which marks you as my greatest treasure. While I, and all of the other citizens in my kingdom, referred to my father as “king”, my mother only ever referred to him as her “dearest one.” She truly cared for him more than any other treasure in her domain, as I will treasure you.
(Pause.)
Yes, my dearest one. My greatest possession. Nothing else compares to you in my sight.
(Pause.)
I think I understand your confusion on that subject. My dearest one, you may seem average or even unattractive to your kind. I would not know of such things.
In your realm, you measured such levels of attraction physically. In this mystical realm, I primarily see your spirit and your nature. I have witnessed your kind actions born of a pure heart. Your loving kindness to all is well known in your land and ours.
In fact, you have been granted safe passage and protection through our woods for some time now without you even being aware of our existence. You have felt a kinship to our land for a while because of our unseen hands guarding your way.
You are truly beautiful to me, dearest one. In fact, as I look upon you now with the loveliness and brightness of your spirit gently radiating around you, you are the most beautiful being I have ever laid eyes on. That is why I claimed you as mine.
(Pause.)
Yes. Mine. You will be my consort, my dearest one, but never forget that I am queen and ruler above all in my land including you. It is my will that reigns supreme in this kingdom. You will be my most cherished possession forever.
(Pause.)
(Confusion.) Dearest one, why do you still balk at my command? Am I not attractive to you as well? Is there something about me you find displeasing?
(Pause.)
Dearest one, you enthrall me with your adoring words concerning my beauty, but if I am so attractive in your sight, what is causing your hesitation? Why are you not thanking me for choosing you for this honor?
(Pause.)
Exactly. I am making you my GREATEST possession. You will be my MOST CHERISHED possession. I believe I have made this clear to you already.
(Pause.)
I see. It is the word “possession” that you find… intimidating.
No matter. I have already explained to you that I will be the Queen of these lands. My will is all that matters. Every blade of grass, every leaf, every flower, and every subject in my land belongs to me. All are my possessions to do with as I please.
I protect and care for all that is mine, and you, my dearest one, will be my most valued, my most desired possession. As you are now in my lands, you will never again age. You will never again come to any harm through sickness or natural causes.
But those are benefits all enjoy in my lands. You, dearest one, will sit at my banquet table enjoying the finest delicacies that the greatest chefs in all of your world have only dreamt of creating. You will enjoy the finest clothes, have access to the greatest treasures, and witness first-hand all of the most amazing sights this realm has to offer.
But most of all, dearest one, you will have complete and unlimited access to me. I will cherish and adore you, gracing your beauty with much more than my simple presence. In order to keep it ASMR, I suggest something soft like a mix of moaning, wind whistling, creaking of wood, soft creepy sounds. But if you want, you can go with screeching, shrieks, or something like that. This lasts only about 10-15 seconds. But towards the end, it seems to grow slightly in intensity as if it’s overwhelming the listener until it suddenly stops as the band is readded by Emi.)
(Panic.) Dearest one? DEAREST ONE? Can you hear me? Can you see me? I have replaced the band on your arm. Are you back with me?
(Brief pause as listener recognizes her.)

Since we recently had a discussion about jinn, angels, fairies, images might say more than words. However a little introduction.
First I thought this image is about paradise and angels, hence the garden and the tree, and Iblis in the corner.
It was kinda strange given the affection some.kf these beings show to each other. It looks a bit... Sensual
Angels are free from sensual affection and desires as they are made from Light (Nur or Nar)
The note on the book sheds some light on the issue, stating that this is from an illustration to Nizâmî's "Tale of the Princess of the Black Pavilion" dated to the sixteenth century.
The protagonist enters the Throne of the Fairy Queen atop the Tree of Life. The ascent is guarded by the devil (Iblis) in form of an angel of hell (zabani), those mission in these images can be explained another time if curiosity strikes again.
My point is rathery that these faeries are neither angels nor jinn. Jinn are not at the tree of life, they are warded if from the heavenly gates. In islamic cosmology, jinn live either on the surface of the earth in dark abandoned places, or under the surface in the underworld. Simultaneously, these are not angels, as angels lack such social structures depicted in this gathering.
So here an example I found today about jinn and faeries distinct but both well-known and accepted in islamic tradtion.

2024.05.21 02:41 SoldMyMom4Kfc My review for "Touch the pitons" excursion in St Lucia

On a recent Caribbean cruise I did the "Touch the pitons" (SLU380A) excursion on Princess cruise line in St Lucia. I never found any long length review so here is my review for anyone in the future.
Driving: This excursion is a LOT of VERY windy mountain driving. Its about 1.5-2 hours each way before you reach the first main stop. The roads are all extremely winding mountain roads, so if you get motion/car sick bring motion sickness pills. Our guides did a good job at trying to break up the drive by stopping at viewpoints, sightseeing, and picking up local fruits from roadside vendors. Regardless, its a long drive. Picture 1
Tet Paul nature trail: I would not recommend anyone that has mobility issues to do this trail. While its not an intense trail, it is not a walk in the park either. A few sections have some deep inclines/declines. Its about 45 minutes from start to finish, with 3 main stops for viewpoints. You are not rushed at all so everyone can go at their own pace. There were people of all ages doing it, including 2 that used canes. The guide talks about some of the local plants and fruits found. He also did a good job at making sure everyone gets a good picture. At the end, they provide some refreshments which included a sample size of fruit found on the property and mango juice. Toraille waterfall: About 20 minutes away from Tet Paul you'll reach your next and final stop, the Toraille water fall. There is a very small swimming spot under the falls, but otherwise its mostly a photo spot. You'll spend about 15 minutes here before you start heading back. It can be crowded at times, but it'll eventually thin out so you can get a picture or a quick dip under the falls. Picture 1
Driving back: On the way back, our guides only stopped once quickly to get some local fruit for us to sample, but overall it took about 1.5 hours to get back. Again, very windy roads and mountain roads. If you get motion sick, bring something to handle your motion sickness.
My overall opinion: Personally for me, I would not do this excursion again. It was a great experience for the views and sampling the fruits, but it was far too much driving for me to want to enjoy it again. Its a one-and-done excursion for me.
Note: Most stops had a bathroom, but they almost all charged $1 USD to use it. Only the Tet Paul trail and the Toraille waterfall had bathrooms that were free, so keep that in mind if you don't want to pay to use it.

I got back in to the planted aquarium hobby this year for the first time since being a teenager. As a now adult who embraces their AuDHD and has some expendable income I’ve had overall successful results and my 3 planted nanos and a planted betta sorority have hit equilibrium and become more or less low maintenance. So when a friend contacted me about one of their friends needing to reluctantly rehome their axolotl due to unexpected ongoing construction (discovery of mold problems has meant tearing up walls/floors in multiple rooms) I did some research and though I had been trying to keep my tanks small just in case we move houses in the next year I was confident enough I could add her to the mix without overextending myself. (And had intended for her to be set up at work because of that possibility but turns out once people SEE a 55gal tank they lose all confidence that our boss won’t notice and do no want it in our lobby 😂)
The original owner had her for 5 years and it sounds like she did a really good job with the care and husbandry but since rehoming wasn’t ever the plan the tank kept getting half drained and moved and was left disheveled for too long while looking for the perfect new home. They told me she didn’t have much interest in eating anymore, the plants were dying, it was clear they really cared and hated to see her to go but could tell she wasn’t thriving in that situation.
She’s now set up in the atrium-esque sunroom type deal in our very unique MCM home. She has really perked up! She gets the zoomies randomly and snaps pellets out of the water with amazing speed when she wants to. The room has skylights and during summer can get pretty bright direct light for a majority of the day so the first photos show my current solution to that with the faux “jungle canopy” overhang for her, the shrimp tank to the left and crested gecko viv to the right. 55gal seems to be enough to keep the waters quite cool even as the room heats up but I’ve been monitoring that to see if I will eventually need to add fans.

She came with soil substrate which we mostly kept for the sake of the beneficial bacteria, several pieces of driftwood, small rocks and half of a broken pot for a cave. I kept the driftwood and she’s got her little pot she likes to stick her head in but she’s so big that’s all that fits. I added the plants which are all mostly water column feeders so as she “uproots” them kicking around it’s ok and I just put them back as I see the need. I’d love to add more and really get a jungle going for her here if you all have any suggestions. I also dropped my white cloud mountain minnow school in there and she truly seems to enjoy just sitting there watching them, she’s been on a pellet diet for a long time and doesn’t seem interested in the fish as a food source so I’ll likely add more of them in the future.
One upgrade I chose was to get a Fluval performance canister filter because I find that maintenance easier and am more likely to upkeep it that way. I used filter media from established tanks, a spray bar to minimize the flow which I do have turned down, and fake plants on the water’s surface in front of them to further baffle/diffuse the flow.
I want to make her a rock cave/hideout that is big enough to turn around in instead of just her piece of broken pot. Usually I’d stack slate but she 13” long! So I got a bunch of Sculpy and am planning on making a single piece that looks like stacked rocks so there’s no risk of sharp edges or her knocking things ovecrushing part of herself. She does definitely like to spy on us all the time especially with the dogs at eye level on the other side of her tank but I want her to have the option for total darkness if it’s too sunny outside or the lights are on in the hallway behind her tank (glass walls in the house. Like I said, very unique build)
SO TL;DR - besides more plants for coverage and a nice hideout what would you add to this? Are there particular plants or features your axolotl has seemed to really enjoy that go beyond what I’ve read online about their basic care?
Same for snacks/feeding. No animal I have besides my tree frogs eats a singular diet so I’d love to supplement the pellets if I can. Do you tong/pipette feed your axolotl? She will take it from a pipette but unlike when she deftly snaps pellets that are free falling toward her she suddenly has no aim and it’s really difficult for us both 😂 though dropping pellets from above near her head seems to lead to a lot of uneaten food for me to remove.
