Three special things for u/stewblock2023
Hello, everyone! My name is u/Lazy_Arrival4516, and I have three special things for my friend u/stewblock2023! Yes, three of them. So let’s start off with the first one, which is an upcoming refreshed version of Toño Prada’s cartoon mural. You know? The mural created by Spanish graffiti artist Toño Prada for INCIBE while it’s inspired by three hybrid crossover Disney movies called Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Chip n' Dale: Rescue Rangers and Once Upon A Studio, as well as many other crossovers like Super Smash Bros., Peter Kay's Animated All-Star Band from Children in Need, The Children's Party at the Palace, every single bumper from Cartoon Network's 20th Birthday, the Simpsons and Family Guy crossover, and many other crossovers due to various iconic cartoon characters on it? Yep! But this time, it will be a blank longer version of the mural, with its gates having the same shape. It will have the same characters from the mural, but also, “more characters”. Plus, the characters will be completely white drawings with black bolder and no details when they’re in the base. Also, the drawings will have each number on them, representing more than 268 cartoon characters. But don’t worry! I’ll make sure that u/stewblock2023 will handle this, by painting the mural to what the fan-made version looks like! Here’s the numbered list of all the characters in order:

Also, one more thing. Why is Sheep staring at Weegee instead of staring at his baby carriage containing Impaeegee since both of these characters are creepy due to their faces? I have no words. BTW, the Blue and Pink image is created by hakurinn0215. Plus, here’s the image for it:
NOTE: I'm hard to add the drawings and numbers.
The next one is about Toño Prada’s cartoon mural again, but this time, with characters from animations by Joe (and Danielle Kogan)! The mural will have the same thing as the previous one, with a slight difference that the mural is now shaped like the original version of Toño Prada’s cartoon mural. Also, the drawings will have each number on them, representing more than 37 Ukinojoe characters. Also, the gates will not be painted because they’re going to be dark-brown like in Toño Prada’s cartoon mural. But let’s not forget the list:
  1. The Sphinx from The Last Dinosaur.
  2. Replacement Bully.
  3. Audrey & Victor.
  4. Jade.
  5. Indiada Jodes.
  6. Blonic (on a brick wall) and Blails.
  7. Potbot.
  8. The dancing dolphin from chillphin.
  9. Iron Bad.
  10. The We Gotta Get SpongeBob Back! version of Squidward.
  11. The Family Simp versions of Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin.
  12. The father and son from Spagettios.
  13. The Ukinojoe versions of Mike Wazowski and Sulley.
  14. The MOUSE FAN CLUB version of Mickey Mouse.
  15. Giwaffe.
  16. Frumplequest.
  17. The Hug the Bowz version of Mario.
  18. Unhappy Cat.
  19. The Great: The Show version of Fred Flintstone.
  20. A statue of Bowser.
  21. The dog on plane from Dog of Wisdom.
  22. Wall-E and Rob.
  23. Stacy from Martian by Mistake.
  24. Bella Caramella.
  25. The Family Simp version of Bart Simpson (on a nuclear bomb while holding a cowboy hat).
  26. Mojo Jojo (Mojo Oh No version only).
  27. The Literally Hitler version of Adolf Hitler (NOTE: the Literally Hitler version is way better than the original).
  28. Cheesy McWheelwagon.
  29. 90’s Nick.
  30. Mabel Pines (Brevity Falls version only).
  31. The Great: The Show version of Yoda.
  32. Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty Parody version only).
  33. Pengis.
  34. The Rabbit version of Bugs Bunny.
  35. The cursed Shrek model from Cursed Shrek Scene.
  36. Frank from Meme High School.
  37. Hank Hill (Bobby’s New Hobby version only).
He can also add the reddish-pink “THIS IS GREAT” text in the bottom of the front, a large computer screen that displays the Great: The Show logo behind Bella Caramella, the Fan Con from Great: The Show in the background behind the computer screen, and even the stuff from the MAD intro in the same background! Here’s a list of said stuff:
  • The colorful floor.
  • The sky of spotty clouds, flying logos and different colors (blue, cyan, orange-yellow, and purple).
  • Various claymation buildings (crane, palm, wooden bridge, etc.).
  • Various claymation vehicles (blue car, red car, helicopter, bird-winged airplane, school bus, etc.).
  • Various claymation versions of various additional characters (unnamed angry man, Spider-Man, Shrek, SpongeBob, Tow Mater, Optimus Prime, Steak Guy, monkey ballerina, Yellow Guy, Bloo, Woody, Batman, Buzz Lightyear, Charizard, and Cinnamon Bun).
  • The alien from Mike Wartella’s Spacenook.
Plus, Blonic’s face is edited to have a smile because he gives me a thumb up. Now, here’s the image for it. It can be similar to the previous one but let’s check it out.
NOTE: Again, I'm hard to add the drawings and numbers.
And last but not least is a new upcoming video, which contains the fan-made versions of both scenes from Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers where Sweet Pete transforms into his bootleg form, Frankenpete, by the malfunctioning machine! And yes, this video is inspired by a Reddit comment about the fan-made versions of both forms of the character, but we don’t include the voices (except for Marie’s meow and a version of Wreck-It Ralph’s catchphrase) for this video because it doesn’t have the scenes where Frankenpete started chasing Chip and Dale. Why? Because like I said, this is an edited version of said scene. Here’s the screenshots of the comment that will inspire the video:
https://preview.redd.it/ntw8a3x2sfyc1.png?width=1141&format=png&auto=webp&s=6e630eb4661c855af2c460f73ea999f0d54653a0
Anyway, let’s check out the video’s plot. First, it has two different languages: in the beginning, the language is Latin-American Spanish before it changes to a high-pitched version of the English language from the original film (can be seen on the Villains Wiki page of Sweet Pete) during the scene where Frankenpete was created. Also, it basically uses the “Sweet Pete transforms into Frankenpete” scene from the Latin-American dub of Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, with a few differences:
  • The transformation sound effects from Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared 6 are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • The Hanna-Barbera sound effects are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • The Ed, Edd n’ Eddy sound effects are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • The sound effects from the Johnny Bravo intro are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • Various clips from What the Fuck? by 64marjo64 are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation in the fog.
  • Various videoclips from Intolerance III (e.g. the scenes from the Just a Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody music video by Andreas Hykade and Louis Prima featuring the eye-popping Louis Prima cat and the shocked female mouse) are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation in the fog.
  • Frankenfruit’s defeat is added when Sweet Pete falls into the ground during his transformation in the fog.
  • The sword and blood from Willa’s Normal Life are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation in the fog.
  • Homer Simpson’s shape-shifting body from the Don Hertzfeldt Couch Gag is added when Sweet Pete falls into the ground during his transformation in the fog.
  • The mutated blue morphing montage from Andreas Hykade’s Love & Theft is added after Homer Simpson’s shape-shifting body becomes a yellow liquid during Sweet Pete’s transformation.
  • The added parts from the Reddit comment are added during Sweet Pete’s transformation and the Frankenpete scene.
Well, that’s all for today! And u/stewblock2023! If you’re reading this, do the stuff I’ve just mentioned! Anyways, see ya later!

The 00s/10s transitions for the Big 3 Kids Networks - Part III: Cartoon Network
I already did Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, now for the final part of this series: Cartoon Network.

Synopsis:

Main 00s/10s Transition: roughly July 2008 - September 2011 (give or take)
Earliest signs of 10s influence:
  • Stuart Snyder becomes the new president of Cartoon Network (May 2, 2007)
  • The Amazing World of Gumball first sneak peak airs on Cartoon Network (May 9, 2008)
Latest signs of 00s influence:
  • Stuart Snyder steps down as president of Cartoon Network (March 31, 2014)
  • The Johnny Test series ends (December 25, 2014)

July 14, 2008: The Noods rebrand
https://preview.redd.it/nkyesdgzp4cc1.png?width=1067&format=png&auto=webp&s=bf4992939772156022f288ff4ec01d75c7735010
This is a pretty good time to start the 00s/10s transition on Cartoon Network. Noods were the eighth branding of Cartoon Network. It debuted in the Summer of 2008, replacing the Fall brand. The Summer of 2008 was a very transformative time for the channel as this was really when they were phasing out/cancelling a lot of their CN City shows, and not only that but they got rid of a lot of their classic Cartoon Cartoon shows from the late 90s/early 2000s like Cow & Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory, and Powerpuff Girls, for example. I'm pretty sure all those shows stopped airing reruns around the time the Fall era switched over to Noods. This was a big deal for OG fans since these shows were in syndication on the channel for the vast majority of the decade.
Unfortunately, this might have been due to a lot of the Canadian Teletoon imports coming in (i.e. Total Drama Island, Johnny Test, 6Teen, Stoked, etc.) and replacing their timeslots. The Noods era as a whole wasn't terrible but it was extremely lackluster. It did feel terrible in comparison to its predecessors, but at least it had somewhat of a balance of old and new compared to the later eras of Cartoon Network, since they still had reruns of a few Cartoon Cartoons, as well as some CN City shows that recently ended (like Camp Lazlo, Codename Kids Next Door, Class of 3000, Out of Jimmy's Head, etc.), along with the new stuff, which was noticeably lacking in this period.
The Noods era was ultimately late '00s but this was pretty much the gateway to the '10s era. The first half of 2008 was pretty firmly '00s.

September 20, 2008: Toonami comes to an end
https://preview.redd.it/4j146f10q4cc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=6966ba83b2d743dbb5f8f30825c3971cde2372fb
Even though Toonami was a shell of its former self at this point, many OG fans of Cartoon Network mark this to be the spiritual end of the network as it felt soulless after that and took away one of the most defining Cartoon Network blocks of the 2000s that many of them grew up with. This was the end of an era.
2008 is usually considered to be the end of the Golden Age of the channel. Stuart Snyder was hated back then because of all of these terrible decisions and previous presidents like Betty Cohen and Jim Samples were praised. In retrospect, it ended up being a good decision to many as when they brought Toonami back in May 2012, it received positive feedback from fans of the once iconic block from the late 90s/early 2000s.

October 3, 2008: Star Wars: The Clone Wars premieres on Cartoon Network with the episode "Ambush"
https://preview.redd.it/q4i7b2l0q4cc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=c4426cfe96698b391306737edcae07f784601edb
This was the start of something good, in my opinion. This was one of my favorite shows of the Noods era and it was one of their most popular shows at the time. This was back when Star Wars was actually good (before Disney acquired it and ruined the franchise) and it actually made me somewhat of a Star Wars fan for a period in time.

October 3, 2008: The Secret Saturdays premiere on Cartoon Network with the episode "Kur Stone"
https://preview.redd.it/mk4oan81q4cc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=28718c3b36a66d83497a61e0d4b800cf1383151f
For some reason, I used to think this show was actually a Saturday morning block on Cartoon Network because of its name, but this was a real show that I actually have a vague memory of watching. The series follows the adventures of the Saturdays, a family of cryptozoologists that work to keep the truth about cryptids from getting out, to protect both the human race and the creatures themselves. The Saturdays travel the Earth searching for cryptids to study and battling twisted villains like the megalomaniac V. V. Argost. The series is influenced by 1960s-era Hanna-Barbera action series and is combined with Jay Stephens's own personal interest in cryptozoology.
This was arguably the quintessential Noods era program since its entire run was during this period as the show finished its run on January 30, 2010, but aired reruns on Boomerang from December 5, 2011, to June 1, 2014.

October 12, 2008: Underfist: Halloween Bash premieres on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/sb52kxq1q4cc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=bf20c3cc59c94ffbd6c3cdae4fbe09a1d8f52bd1
Even though The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy had officially ended as a series in November 2007, this was the final nail in the coffin of a beloved show (which was my favorite Cartoon Network show at the time and is still one of my favorites to this day) as they had one last special in the Fall of 2008. It would have turned into a potential full series (what a damn shame), but management shifted at Cartoon Network, and most studio veterans were not kept around.
This Twitter comment explains why that was the case: "Insane to think it didn't continue because cops thought a light bright looked like a bomb." Pretty much, Cartoon Network did an Aqua Teen promotion in the city of Boston in which many citizens reported the Aqua Teen light brights as bomb scares. This would cause Jim Samples and many other higher-ups to step down from their positions, which led to a lot of potential projects being canned and many blocks being cancelled like Fridays and Miguzi, and unfortunately caused management to shift towards CN Real instead. Once again, what a damn shame.
Side note, but I kind of also feel like the 2007-2008 writer's strikes had something to do with a lack of original cartoons in this period as well. Cartoon Network suffered the most because of this in the late 2000s.

May 3, 2009: Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends ends as a series on Cartoon Network with the episode "Goodbye to Bloo"
https://preview.redd.it/zpbk4sh2q4cc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=58ff9a36f9416185cd6c29ed85356369c38f68d6
Bloo and the Friends think Mac is moving away forever, so they set out to make his last day at Foster's the greatest he's ever had. This was so sad as this was the end to another classic show from the CN City era. It was one of the last remnants of that period and it finally ended in the Spring of 2009. I might have missed this because I don't have too many fond memories of watching Cartoon Network in 2009 (it was a pretty bad and forgettable year so 2009 CN was a blur to me) as I was more on Nickelodeon in the first half and Disney Channel in the second half.

June 17, 2009: CN Real officially debuts as a block on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/0r6d4lf3q4cc1.png?width=350&format=png&auto=webp&s=e3685e2ef2a9fd91619acfa8e3e0c425bff311eb
This was the official beginning of the most infamous block in Cartoon Network history: CN Real. The first seeds were already planted as early as around 2005-2006 when they started airing live action movies on the network and officially when they premiered the movie Re-Animated in December 2006, which led to its own series Out of Jimmy's Head from 2007-2008 which was cancelled after one season (I wonder why). CN Real is the main reason why many people hate or look down upon the late 2000s Noods era of Cartoon Network as arguably the worst era in the history of the network (I would say at that point since it was much worse post-2015).
This awful block unfortunately was pushed due to what I mentioned earlier with the Boston bomb scares which led to Jim Samples stepping down as president and being replaced by Stuart Snyder, leading to many potential iconic cartoons being shelved and replaced with this monstrosity.
To be fair, CN Real could've worked if it was on a different platform with a different name, but since it had "CN Real" in the name on the Cartoon Network platform, it really tarnished the brand as it's literally "Cartoon" Network. A network that only has cartoons in it. It's in the freaking name. Plus, a lot of those shows were ass and were very short-lived.
Six shows came out of this block:
  • The Othersiders (premiered June 17, 2009 and ended October 30, 2009)
  • Survive This (premiered June 17, 2009 and ended August 19, 2009)
  • BrainRush (premiered June 20, 2009 and ended July 22, 2009)
  • Destroy Build Destroy (premiered June 20, 2009)
  • Bobb'e Says (premiered August 19, 2009 and ended September 23, 2009)
  • Dude, What Would Happen (premiered August 19, 2009)
As you can see here, 4 out of 6 of these shows were done within a few months and did not even make it into 2010. It was such a failure. The only shows that lasted a bit longer and were more successful was Destroy Build Destroy and Dude, What Would Happen, which both lasted until 2011, into the CHECK it era. The last remnants of CN Real or any kind of live action shows on the platform were in the form of shows like Hole In The Wall, Level Up, Incredible Crew, and even the Hall of Game Awards (which was last held in 2014). CN Real peaked in 2009 and the block was gone and replaced with the CHECK it era in late May 2010 (thankfully). It was ultimately a failed project of the late '00s.

November 8, 2009: Ed, Edd, n Eddy officially ends with the "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show" film
https://preview.redd.it/qnu6fsg4q4cc1.png?width=1618&format=png&auto=webp&s=f27a03e9417872445cbf8234dd8f2d337791d201
Big Picture Show centers on an adventure that the adolescent Eddy takes his friends Ed and Edd with him to find his older brother after their most recent money-making scheme leaves their cul-de-sac in a state of devastation that harms its other participants.
Even though the series was pretty much over after their last proper season concluded on April 28, 2007 followed by the CN Invaded Special two weeks later on May 11 and the "Lost Episode(s)" on June 29, 2008, this film was the official end of the entire series, marking the end of an era as it was the very last original Cartoon Cartoon standing at this time, lasting up until 2009. Fortunately, they still had reruns of Ed, Edd, n Eddy into the early 2010s (same with Courage the Cowardly Dog, surprisingly). The Noods era was truly a transitional time where it was a phasing out of the old guard and a phasing in of the new guard.

November 10, 2009: The Johnny/Johnny block debuts on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/fr09u065q4cc1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=8c1a834fede2d274c71fd7f4856b32f781097a11
This was basically a block where they had back-to-back marathons of Johnny Test (which was at its ultimate peak at the time with tons of screentime) and the Cartoon Cartoon classic Johnny Bravo (which was around the time they stopped airing reruns of it). The was short-lived as it would end a month later on December 11. Just something to note here.

March 26, 2010: Ben 10: Alien Force comes to an end with its final episode "The Final Battle"
https://preview.redd.it/iv3h4yq5q4cc1.png?width=350&format=png&auto=webp&s=86b568c7cb3ac523ab7571e1d8ec10c5bf0cb825
Another one of my childhood favorites on Cartoon Network, Ben 10: Alien Force (as well as the original Ben 10, which ended in 2008) came to an end in the Spring of 2010 with the final galactic battle. This was another defining cartoon of the Noods era that came to an end, but fortunately it wasn't the end of Ben 10 as they would continue the franchise with Ben 10: Ultimate Alien a month later on April 23 (the same night that Generator Rex debuted) so it wasn't that bad.

April 1, 2010: The Har Har Tharsdays programming block ends
https://preview.redd.it/nuf7bs86q4cc1.png?width=480&format=png&auto=webp&s=3c6ee0a409647174027b9af3943893b40162e4a5
This was another death of a Noods era block. It was clear that by the Spring of 2010, the Noods era was quickly being phased out as this was a block that aired new episodes of its original cartoons every Thursday (like Chowder and Flapjack, for example). Interestingly enough, Adventure Time would debut right after this change was made the following week, the same night they started the Monday Nights block which would replace Har Har Tharsdays, so it was symbolic of the beginning of a transitional period as the emerging CHECK it era would start to replace Noods.

April 5, 2010: Adventure Time premieres with the episode "Slumber Party Panic"/Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated premieres with the episode "Beware the Beast from Below"/Monday Nights programming block debuts on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/9ozi8pu6q4cc1.png?width=857&format=png&auto=webp&s=4c8f8c4519fb498db4f0ebcddb8ba36a5ee9ed92
Adventure Time debuting was the official beginning of a transitional period that Cartoon Network was going through. It was the heralding of a new era. The beginning of the modern era of Cartoon Network that would define many shows during the 2010s. It was one of the first shows that truly had a Cal-Arts animation style (which defined 2010s animation). It was the first true show of the CHECK it era to premiere.
Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated was another early CHECK it era show that made its debut this night. Other than that, not much else to note about it.
The Monday Nights block debuted the same night, with Adventure Time and Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated being two shows in the initial lineup, and this was another shift too because this replaced the late 2000s Noods era Har Har Tharsdays block and this new block would define the early 2010s CHECK it era and would last until May 28, 2018.

May 29, 2010: The CHECK it era officially debuts on Cartoon Network, along with a new logo
https://preview.redd.it/ewh7rnd7q4cc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=5991994ecffa7da71992db728b9c20827d6f3d69
This was the official aesthetic change for Cartoon Network and a sign that things were changing very quickly. The CHECK it era makes its debut on the network, replacing the Noods era. It would also make its way over to other countries like Asia and Australia by late 2011 (it would be called "It's a Fun Thing" over there). Not only that, but it also replaced the "CN" logo that has been used since the CN City era had begun in 2004 (which was a derivative or shortened version of the original 1992-2004 "Cartoon Network" logo that defined both Checkerboard and Powerhouse eras) with a more modern and corporate look compared to the wackier look that it used to have.
The CHECK it era has been referred to at times as CN's "Renaissance", as it brought the network back to a state of critical acclaim after the mixed reception of the Noods era and the negative reception of the CN Real block. In retrospect, CHECK it is sometimes considered CN's last great era, as the schedule was more varied (compared to the Dimensional era and beyond which are criticized for overplaying Teen Titans Go! too much) and the TV-PG shows of the time were edgier and appealing to multiple audiences.
The middle of 2010 was a very transitional time for Cartoon Network and could really go either way as it was the perfect balance of late '00s and early '10s trends as the CHECK it era was now a thing with its first shows on air but the Noods era shows were still getting massive airtime.

August 7, 2010: Chowder airs its final episode "Chowder Grows Up" on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/vk1sz6ipq4cc1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=3ea4fddbafe338909e9ea12a614187de2b28d5e4
This episode was very sad as it marked the end to an extremely underrated show like Chowder. It was mostly overlooked since it ran mostly during the CHECK it era (with its first season in the Fall era) but it was actually a good show. This was simply a washing out of the Noods era programming during CHECK it, which made sense since Chowder didn't really mesh well with the new atmosphere that Cartoon Network was going for. It was a product of its time and would've already looked pretty outdated by 2011.

August 31, 2010: The Misadventures of Flapjack gets cancelled with its final episode "Fish Out Of Water" on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/fsxh936qq4cc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=a54ebdd1b515b83be2e47d99e711806cc472957f
This was also sad because Flapjack was another solid show that came from the Noods era that met its untimely end in the Summer of 2010. Just like Chowder, it did not fit the new direction that Cartoon Network were trying to go with so it got canned. It was simply a product of its time. During an era where Cartoon Network was figuring shit out and experimenting with different things after many mishaps and failures followed by the writer's strikes. It would've already been outdated by 2011, just like I said with Chowder. This is pretty much where I would end the '00s era for Cartoon Network.

September 6, 2010: Regular Show premieres with the episode "The Power"/Mad premieres with "Avaturds" episode on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/pwcjqwwqq4cc1.png?width=787&format=png&auto=webp&s=6cae9c1e706db1638acf07dab87b69698e41ebaf
On Labor Day 2010, a day before I started the 3rd grade, both Regular Show and Mad premiered as the brand new cartoons to debut in the Monday night timeslot. This was officially when the CHECK it era fully took over for the most part as not only did some of the old Noods era shows end but the debuts of both of these shows led to an influx of new shows to come out that would define the CHECK it 1.0 era such as Sym-Bionic Titan, Robotomy, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome, Thundercats (2011), Young Justice (all of which were short-lived), and many more. This would be where I start the '10s era for Cartoon Network. The Cartoon Network Renaissance was beginning to take shape.

November 15, 2010: Total Drama World Tour ends with the "Aloha Finale!/Hawaiian Punch" episode on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/x5mw63trq4cc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=8ae0e2ce71f4d23a2787f2ab2f41970fbb83964c
This episode marked the end of the original cast of Total Drama that defined the first three seasons of Total Drama that most TD fans know of and love. Another late '00s show from the Noods era bites the dust. They did end up bringing the series back but it wasn't the same, especially since they gave us a completely new cast in the Total Drama: Revenge of the Island season in early 2012.

November 26, 2010: Young Justice premieres on Cartoon Network with the episode "Independence Day"
https://preview.redd.it/8t9niaesq4cc1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=e4cc8ac71f219b0cde861a58382682e201bb267a
As the CHECK it era was in full motion at this point, a lot of overlooked classics would be released and Young Justice was no exception. I don't remember too much from this show but I do know it looked very promising as it was a show that involved pretty much all of the Warner Bros. DC superheroes in one place, fighting against evil.

May 3, 2011: The Amazing World of Gumball premieres with its "The DVD" episode/The Looney Tunes Show premieres with the "Best Friends" episode on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/czi6wm2tq4cc1.png?width=735&format=png&auto=webp&s=63dd711757535f3613ec39db79f7598da9c66825
Once again, we get another pair of shows making their debuts of Cartoon Network, this time during the Spring of 2011 in the form of The Amazing World of Gumball and The Looney Tunes Show, two shows which very much defined the early '10s CHECK IT era of programming (Gumball arguably peaked in the mid '10s as well since it got even more popular and the quality improved compared to its predecessors. It's safe to say that the Cartoon Network Renaissance is fully in motion at this point. I want to say that it's firmly '10s at this point, but that wouldn't be the case until.....

September 21, 2011: Destroy Build Destroy ends with the episode "Catch and Destroy: The Models vs. Grease Monkeys"/Dude, What Would Happen? ends with the episode "Scarecrow and Snowman WaDunking Tournament/Ninja Styles" on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/l0gwdjotq4cc1.png?width=626&format=png&auto=webp&s=dc108067f08f89addc60333f514316f5054ccc52
Even though it pretty felt safely '10s at this point, the ends of both Destroy Build Destroy and Dude, What Would Happen? solidified it as these were the only two shows from the CN Real era of 2009-2010 that would be renewed for another season and make it past 2009, so these shows ending represented the final nail in the coffin for the late '00s Noods era. As we now entered the Fall of 2011, Cartoon Network was firmly in the '10s era.

Honorable mentions:
  • The Har Har Tharsdays programming block debuts along with The Misadventures of Flapjack (June 5, 2008); this was right before the transition started but it's close enough.
  • Batman: The Brave and the Bold premieres on Cartoon Network (November 14, 2008) and would later conclude after three season (November 18, 2011)
  • My Gym Partner's a Monkey comes to an end (November 27, 2008)
  • Generator Rex premieres on Cartoon Network (April 23, 2010)
  • Regular Show's pilot episode airs on Cartoonstitute, a scrapped-planned animated showcase on Cartoon Network (August 14, 2009)
  • The Boondocks comes to an end on Adult Swim, marking creator Aaron McGruder's last season on the show (August 15, 2010), not counting the last season revival in 2014.
  • Sym-Bionic Titan premieres on Cartoon Network (September 17, 2010) and ends soon after (April 9, 2011)
  • Robotomy premieres on Cartoon Network (October 25, 2010) and is cancelled after one season (January 24, 2011)
  • The Problem Solverz premieres on Cartoon Network (April 4, 2011) and ends quickly after (September 29, 2011)
  • Almost Naked Animals is a Canadian import that debuts on Cartoon Network (April 11, 2011)
  • Secret Mountain Fort Awesome premieres on Cartoon Network (August 1, 2011) and ends quickly after that (March 29, 2012)

For other kids networks (which I don't need to make another post about to be honest):
The CW
  • Main transition: May 24, 2008 to August 18, 2012 (The CW4Kids/Toonzai era; post-Kids WB!, pre-Vortexx)
  • First sign of '10s influence: The Kids WB! block moves to TheCW (September 23, 2006)
  • Last sign of '00s influence: The Vortexx block ends on TheCW (September 27, 2014), officially marking the final nail in the coffin for Saturday morning cartoons

For other kids networks (which I don't need to make another post about to be honest):
The CW
  • Main transition: May 24, 2008 to August 18, 2012 (The CW4Kids/Toonzai era; post-Kids WB!, pre-Vortexx)
  • First sign of '10s influence: The Kids WB! block moves to The CW (September 23, 2006)
  • Last sign of '00s influence: The Vortexx block ends on The CW (September 27, 2014), officially marking the final nail in the coffin for Saturday morning cartoons.
Looking at all the Big 3 Kids networks, roughly 2008-2012 was the full transitional period (specifically July 2008 - January 2013).
For Cartoon Network, the first half of 2008 was the last of the core '00s, the second half of 2008 through Q3 2011 was the transition from the '00s to the '10s, and from Q4 2011 onward it was the core '10s.
For Disney Channel, the Winter of 2009/2010 was the last of the core '00s, the Spring of 2010 through the Spring of 2012 was the transition from the '00s to the '10s, and from Summer 2012 onwards it was the core '10s.
For Nickelodeon, the first three quarters of 2009 was the last of the core '00s, the last quarter of 2009 through the beginning of 2013 was the transition from the '00s to the '10s, and damn near the entirety of 2013 was the core '10s.
July 2008 - February 2010 was either core '00s or in the 00s/10s transitional period, depending on the network.
March 2010 - September 2011 was firmly in the 00s/10s transitional period for all 3 networks.
October 2011 - January 2013 was either in the 00s/10s transitional period or core '10s, depending on the network.
October 2009 - June 2012 leans transitional, with at least two out of three networks being transitional this entire period.
July 2008 - September 2009 leans core '00s, with at least two out of three networks not yet transitional in this period.
July 2012 - January 2013 leans core '10s, with at least two out of three networks no longer transitional in this period.

Let me know what you think in the comments.

2024.01.13 04:35 CP4-Throwaway The 00s/10s transitions for the Big 3 Kids Networks - Part III: Cartoon Network

I already did Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, now for the final part of this series: Cartoon Network.

Synopsis:

Main 00s/10s Transition: roughly July 2008 - September 2011 (give or take)
Earliest signs of 10s influence:
Latest signs of 00s influence:

July 14, 2008: The Noods rebrand
https://preview.redd.it/uvtq4tj4o4cc1.png?width=1067&format=png&auto=webp&s=b3036a5eaf9a2ed09a7000b57d595f513c10e459

September 20, 2008: Toonami comes to an end
https://preview.redd.it/vb2mnd16o4cc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad5cc2c8083915e5ed7bf15617b21829bbbc9295

October 3, 2008: Star Wars: The Clone Wars premieres on Cartoon Network with the episode "Ambush"
https://preview.redd.it/qqxi2vw6o4cc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1049ca9261c7988c7ec3275fc4ac47b1b7edbc0

October 3, 2008: The Secret Saturdays premiere on Cartoon Network with the episode "Kur Stone"
https://preview.redd.it/4uujnlp7o4cc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=a97afb74032553392032d7294e7dc1bef7738d95

October 12, 2008: Underfist: Halloween Bash premieres on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/03owovb8o4cc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=68963f651b4c9b96d8230a803d6f58ce0852b954

May 3, 2009: Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends ends as a series on Cartoon Network with the episode "Goodbye to Bloo"
https://preview.redd.it/h6qkf279o4cc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=26f1dbf1c65b49359ed2981a38d427c39b117b14

June 17, 2009: CN Real officially debuts as a block on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/f6mbolx9o4cc1.png?width=350&format=png&auto=webp&s=14b6546383db7701a3ce8dcc5f5c4bd9631cad31

November 8, 2009: Ed, Edd, n Eddy officially ends with the "Ed, Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show" film
https://preview.redd.it/89jldfuao4cc1.png?width=1618&format=png&auto=webp&s=5595a712694eee9da942d4f22ab41e2b6eb918b7

November 10, 2009: The Johnny/Johnny block debuts on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/bttd5nsbo4cc1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=6ddb968e8fea54e38780bbde5f4087849603707c

March 26, 2010: Ben 10: Alien Force comes to an end with its final episode "The Final Battle"
https://preview.redd.it/m2b1kvico4cc1.png?width=350&format=png&auto=webp&s=9d8688344fff311bf847a312f168e90cf247ad0a
Another one of my childhood favorites on Cartoon Network, Ben 10: Alien Force (as well as the original Ben 10, which ended in 2008) came to an end in the Spring of 2010 with the final galactic battle. This was another defining cartoon of the Noods era that came to an end, but fortunately it wasn't the end of Ben 10 as they would continue the franchise with Ben 10: Ultimate Alien a month later on April 23 (the same night that Generator Rex debuted) so it wasn't that bad.

April 1, 2010: The Har Har Tharsdays programming block ends
https://preview.redd.it/pw29nr5do4cc1.png?width=480&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb762a2ffdedaf6e27de8266cdda9ad5c0f291e0

Mystery Incorporated premieres with the episode "Beware the Beast from Below"/Monday Nights programming block debuts on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/sxbbg0zdo4cc1.png?width=857&format=png&auto=webp&s=49bd32a9beb36c33f2c2da0e10791e9c009dc33a
Adventure Time debuting was the official beginning of a transitional period that Cartoon Network was going through.

May 29, 2010: The CHECK it era officially debuts on Cartoon Network, along with a new logo
https://preview.redd.it/esjf4dreo4cc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=b8e7b96ddc41b8fbbb1c5aa2e6a63f3e22e4040e

August 7, 2010: Chowder airs its final episode "Chowder Grows Up" on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/pasrm2gfo4cc1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=ade052dac9dea1c1551504dac1cdaccd6863ef77

August 31, 2010: The Misadventures of Flapjack gets cancelled with its final episode "Fish Out Of Water" on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/195a8iago4cc1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=20095fee26499f8ea847a7a10d1cfda119dbefc6

September 6, 2010: Regular Show premieres with the episode "The Power"/Mad premieres with "Avaturds" episode on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/6dlq7e1ho4cc1.png?width=787&format=png&auto=webp&s=aacb605318dbd5a458a7e1c23b91562801617b78

November 15, 2010: Total Drama World Tour ends with the "Aloha Finale!/Hawaiian Punch" episode on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/915el46lo4cc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=be2095578b22802cf257591f81af5cb15de864cb

November 26, 2010: Young Justice premieres on Cartoon Network with the episode "Independence Day"
https://preview.redd.it/5om2qkrlo4cc1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=07fd0c8c1748ff7eb6fe96087fc8fdd51095d6ce

May 3, 2011: The Amazing World of Gumball premieres with its "The DVD" episode/The Looney Tunes Show premieres with the "Best Friends" episode on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/eju34o0no4cc1.png?width=735&format=png&auto=webp&s=86d9661545d3d142fe46b7f7e323b9ce2a24475a
Once again, we get another pair of shows making their debuts of Cartoon Network, this time during the Spring of 2011 in the form of The Amazing World of Gumball and The Looney Tunes Show, two shows which very much defined the early '10s CHECK IT era of programming (Gumball arguably peaked in the mid '10s as well since it got even more popular and the quality improved compared to its predecessors.

Grease Monkeys"/Dude, What Would Happen? ends with the episode "Scarecrow and Snowman WaDunking Tournament/Ninja Styles" on Cartoon Network
https://preview.redd.it/hr65l0sno4cc1.png?width=626&format=png&auto=webp&s=abee588d16fb6a1062c7ad362da110047b3e3419

For other kids networks (which I don't need to make another post about to be honest):
The CW

Raven and Nigel Thornberry join the battle! Cartoon Network vs Nickelodeon final results! (Plus DLC!)
Raven and Nigel Thornberry are your final choices to join Cartoon Network vs Nickelodeon! I just want to say thank you to everyone who participated in this.
I had a lot of fun and I think this game would be amazing if it were real. Plenty of iconic characters with a few surprises thrown in too. But still, something felt missing. A few iconic shows from both sides didn't quite make the cut... so I decided to add dlc characters!
The final roster...
CN: Ben 10, the Powerpuff Girls, Mandy, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, Rolf, Dexter, Courage, the Lich, Muscle Man, Finn & Jake, Ed Edd n Eddy, Numbah 1, Aku, Raven
CN DLC: Nicole Watterson, Garnet, Eduardo, Megas, Rex, T.O.M.
Nick: Danny Phantom, SpongeBob, Aang, Korra, Jimmy Neutron, Jenny, Invader Zim, El Tigre, Reptar, Jorgan Von Strangle, Rudy & Snap, Timmy Turner, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dora the Explorer, Nigel Thornberry
Nick DLC: Ren & Stimpy, Luna Loud, Arnold, Reggie Rocket, Dark Danny, Doodlebob
To explain my dlc choices...
Nicole Watterson: I'm honestly shocked a gumball rep didn't make it in. Some of you tried pretty hard though. I chose Nicole over gumball or others because she's legitimately a badass fighter and we needed more girls on the roster.
Garnet: another series that you all tried to get on here but couldn't quite get the votes. Chose Garnet over steven for the same reasons as Nicole.
Eduardo: I was never a huge fan of fosters, but I do recognize that it was a big hit for CN in its day. I chose Eduardo because bloo is annoying, and this big guy seemed like a good fit (cowardly though he is).
Megas: this is my personal "just for me" pick. Megas is a really under appreciated show. Plus megas fighting reptar would be awesome.
Rex: one of the strongest contenders that never made it in. Rex was regularly in the top 3.
T.O.M.: I had to rep toonami in here, and what better choice is there than the toonami operating module himself?
Ren & Stimpy: it just felt wrong to not include them in here
Luna Loud: there wasn't much representation for modern Nickelodeon in the roster, but I knew Loud house has been their biggest hit in the last decade. I know basically nothing about Loud house, but I decided to avoid Lincoln and Luna since they're both in the NASB games. After a quick Google search, Luna seemed to be the most interesting (at least superficially).
Arnold: how did a hey Arnold rep not make the base roster? Genuinely shocking. But I had to give Arnold a spot (since NASB refuses to for some reason).
Reggie Rocket: rocket power seems to be a largely forgotten show, but I always liked it as a kid. I thought the extreme sports theme could make for a fun character, plus more girl power.
Dark Danny: Nickelodeon was in desperate need of a villain after the lich and aku were added, but Nickelodeon doesn't quite have any villains on the same cosmic level as those two. Dark Danny was the closest I could think of. It was either him or the dark avatar from legend of korra. I think I made the right choice.
Doodlebob: Another "just for me" pick. It didn't seem right for SpongeBob to only have one rep, but I wanted to think outside the box. I think doodlebob is the perfect wtf character to wrap up the dlc with.
Thanks again everyone. Hope you all had fun with this. Now if you'll excuse me, there are some pork chops calling my name.

And I'd especially like to thank those of you on the cartoon network side for UNDERSTANDING THE ASSIGNMENT! You guys actually bothered to upvote who you wanted in! I get that the Nickelodeon sub is half the size of the cartoon network sub but it was fairly common for the winning Nick character to have less than ten upvotes!

2023.08.28 21:06 allmanner What's wrong with your art? Are you stupid?

Every damn day there are a dozen new threads asking the same sadsack, self-depreciating questions, and every day there are a handful of responses with the same advice that evidently isn't pointed enough to make it through your thick skulls. Here's something more comprehensive:

b-but rule 4!

I don't care. Ban me for this--or better yet, pin it, because obviously there are people out here that need to hear these things on a daily basis.

uuohoooh, i started three days ago and i don't have one billion likes on instagram 😭😭😭

Get the hell off social media. You know why people who draw worse than you get more likes? The algorithm. There's a reason that "how to game the Insta algorithm" is a whole genre of videos--the amount of engagement you get is NOT PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR TALENT. Posting on TwitteInsta/TikTok/whatever is no more indicative of skill than buying a lottery ticket. The algorithm doesn't care how cool your designs are or how fresh your last sketch came out. Tying your self worth to internet points will only make you miserable, because even if one of your pieces does hit, the next, better one probably won't get pushed to the same audience. You'll spend all your time wondering what you did wrong, which is nothing except looking for validation from people who don't know shit about art. Comparison is the thief of joy--and on top of that, you have no fucking idea how many dogshit failures that trending artist cranked out before they hit it big.
You wanna post your updates online? Find one of the hundreds of active communities focused on improvement, not engagement. I show my art to my wife and maybe six people on the internet whose opinions I trust, and who aren't afraid to tear my ego apart if I fucked something up.
Obsessive scrolling is damaging your progress too, and that's not my inner boomer talking--Samdoesarts has a long series shredding dogshit TikTok "tips," and the more of them you ingest the more you're gonna have to unlearn later. Speaking of which:

i plateaued, i can't draw thing, i tried everything i could think of and neither one worked and i will never get better 😔

You're learning wrong. That's it. It doesn't matter if da Vinci himself marched his happy ass all the way from Amboise for a personal lesson--whatever you're reading or watching is not clicking with you, and that's okay! Everyone learns differently. Are you having problems learning from books? Fuck books. Andrew Loomis is one of my favorite artists ever and his books haven't taught me a goddamn thing. You know what did make head construction click in my snowglobe-smooth brain? Proko, explaining the same damn techniques. Are you watching videos and it's still not processing in your hamster wheel head? Read a book. All the good ones are free. Is the book not clicking? Is the video not getting through? Go find a different teacher. You have the combined knowledge of humanity at your fingertips. Start with big names like Brunet, or Becker, or Kooleen, and branch off into smaller creators for niche techniques. Will you have to watch a shitload of them? Yeah, probably, but I guarantee someone out there has answered your question in a way you can digest.

but i know how to do it i just can't put it on paper i'm not talented wahh waaaha--

Congratulations dipshit, now you're practicing wrong. There's a million of you assholes complaining that beating your head against a wall isn't working, and it's nauseating seeing all that time wasted.
How about this, smart guy: why don't you stop crushing your nuts in a vise and practice fundamentals? Just the other day I saw a poster bemoaning their anatomy, and when they posted their work they'd drawn perfect detailed muscle groups for every part of the body but completely mismeasured their head proportions. Think you've got the fundamentals down? Wrong, asshole. If you did, you'd be drawing masterpieces from scratch, because no matter what level of Artist you are on, you can always improve your fundies. Even if you're convinced that you're God's gift to drawing good, go back and start at the beginning. Find a free program like Drawabox and go through their course if you're so great. You don't need to pay for it, you don't need to buy fancy pens, and yes, you can do it digitally despite the highly regarded advice given on their website. Do more gesture drawing. You will get there eventually, but you have to approach it from different angles. If you are endlessly grinding out practice but your artwork is not improving, practice differently.

but no matter what i draw i'm not satisfied, i can't stand the sight of my own art i'm so tragic

Shut up! Shut up shut up shut up. Being dissatisfied with your work is a sign of improvement! You have successfully hit a knowledge milestone that your physical technique hasn't caught up with yet, or vice versa in the case of making well-polished pieces that still look off. When you find things wrong with your own art, it means you've improved enough to recognize your mistakes before you go embarrass yourself showing other people. Self-critique is healthy, but don't punish yourself for making mistakes. Are you afraid your art is boring? Good, you recognized that your composition is lacking. Are your poses stiff? Good, you're starting to get an eye for dynamic form. Are you not satisfied with your anatomy? Great--you're proficient enough at observing reality that you can tell when it's not translating to 2D space. Are you not getting any interaction on social media? Fuck off and reread this post from the beginning. Otherwise, go look up an hour-long tutorial on the pooch you screwed and figure it out. And speaking of shit you should be able to figure out on your own,

i want to go pro but i'm so burnt out, i draw 27 hours a day and for some reason it's not fun, i'm 11 yrs old and disney hasn't hired me, i'll never make it abloo bloo bloo 😢

I know Reddit is comprised of mostly children, but some of you guys really need to get a perspective on how many years you have in front of you. You do not need to pack a lifetime's worth of art practice into your pre-college career. You don't even have to go to college! Studios care way, way more about your portfolio than any expensive degree, and you can develop your portfolio at literally any stage in your life, whether you're 18 or 80. Do your parents not want you to go to art school? Don't! Find a major you can tolerate to shut them up and practice your art during all the spare time you'll have not getting any bitches. Do some networking if you can stop being so fucking awkward.
Or, even better, don't practice during all of your spare time. Making art a grind will destroy your passion for it faster than anything else. Do you have something you really want to do besides sketch? Go do it! Your art will still be there when you get back. It doesn't go anywhere. You won't regress overnight. You won't permanently regress over a week, or a month, or a summer break. You know what will make you regress? Burning yourself out. When you can't focus anymore, stop drawing. When you're not having fun, stop drawing. This video from Brunet is a great explanation of how enjoyment and learning are intertwined, and you high schoolers don't even have to worry about bullshit like neuroplasticity yet--or carpal tunnel, or sciatica, or toddlers vomiting on your Wacom. Fuck you. That brings us to the final and probably most annoying genre of posts on this subreddit:

am i allowed to [x] and still be a real artist?????

Yes. The answer is always yes. I know it's hard to wrap your head around at first, but art has no rules. Are you worried because your drawing might be too similar to an artist you reference from? Nobody gives a shit. Not the artist, not the cops, and you sure as hell shouldn't either. There is nothing new under the sun. Jesus said that, probably. Every artist in history stole shit from the masters that came before them. Someday people will steal shit from you too, and you better remember that when you see your poses get recycled by zero-follower accounts on Instagram. I shouldn't need to tell you when it's appropriate to give credit for shit you post, but by the time you have to worry about IP infringement, the company you draw for will have lawyers to handle it. Just draw. If you're worried less about things on the legal side and more from a moral perspective, here's a non-exhaustive list of things that yes, you are allowed to do and still be a 'real artist,' whatever the fuck that means:
Congratulations. You have permission for all of those things now, so stop shitting up everybody's feed asking ad nauseum. Let me repeat this: art has no rules. Using the figure tool to draw circles does not make you a fraud--everybody does it. That artist you like copies and pastes their hand sketches across pieces. That other artist uses perspective rulers instead of measuring it manually. That artist who does the super-cool intricate lace and wild starfield effects? They're premade brushes. Everybody takes shortcuts. You are allowed to take them too. Punching nails into wood is not more meritorious than using a hammer. Using a hammer is not more meritorious than using a nail gun. If you've learned enough to know where the nails need to go, you've earned the right to get them in as efficiently as you want. Or use your fist; I'm not your fucking boss.
That's it. There is no tl;dr, because if you don't have the attention span to read the whole thing, none of the advice I gave is going to do you any good at all. If you have read this far, I hope there was at least something useful you could take away from it, and I hope it stops you from drooling over your keyboard long enough to ask another stupid question. Better still if it helps you succeed in whatever dipshit goal you've got stuck in your head. Now go draw something, just for fun.

2023.04.12 17:39 bebespeaks Seeking other diehard fans of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

I want to do a podcast with someone or a shared YouTube video essay about the genius of such a creative and emotionally fabulous TV series. I want to discuss and obsess over the tiniest intricacies of the show with other like minded ilk. My favorite character to this day is CHEESE, and he always will be, because Cheese is the epitome of eternal childhood. He's not innocent by any means, and he can be a total brat, but he is my Spirit Animal.
One time in a waiting room at an urgent care clinic, a guy a few years younger than I sat in the seat next to me, and his entire right calf was covered in a cartoon-network themed tattoo, with multiple characters wrapped around his lower leg. Some of them included Buttercup, HIM, Mrs Bellum, MojoJojo, Eduardo, Wilt, Cheese, Mr Harriman, Bloo, Courage, Baby Muriel, Katzz, Cow and Chicken, Red Devil guy, and Plank. I complimented his tats and we had a short chitchat about the nostalgia of better days with better cartoons.

2022.08.24 18:31 AdditionalPair8 Total Drama Island: Cartoon Network Edition (Part 1)

Hey guys!
I've had this really interesting idea for a while, but for the longest time, I couldn't figure out how to share it.
But now I can!
This little idea is what I like to call.....Total Drama: Cartoon Network Edition!
It's basically a retelling of the entire Total Drama series, but with Cartoon Network characters as oppose to the original cast.
I'm gonna be starting this series off with, of course, Total Drama Island, which will consist of characters from shows that aired alongside the season during it's original run.
The following contestants consist of....
.Chowder from Chowder
.Flapjack from The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
.Ben Tennyson, Gwen Tennyson and Kevin Levin from Ben 10: Alien Force
.Bloo and Mac from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
.The Eds from Ed, Edd n' Eddy*
.Scooby-Doo and Shaggy from Scooby-Doo
.Zak Saturday from The Secret Saturdays
.Lazlo from Camp Lazlo
.Batman from Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Johnny Test from Johnny Test
The Gang from 6Teen
As for the teams, here's who's on each team:
The Screaming Gophers:
.Chowder
.Flapjack
.Ben
.Gwen
.Kevin
.Bloo
.Mac
.Ed
.Edd
.Eddy
.Lazlo
The Killer Bass:
.Zak
.Batman
.Scooby
.Shaggy
.Johnny Test
.Jen
.Wyatt
.Nikki
.Jonesy
.Caitlin
.Jude
Okay, let's get this started!
The Not-So Happy Campers: Part 2:
For the Cliff-Diving Challenge, the Screaming Gophers would win this one by a landslide.
Just about everyone except for Chowder would've jumped, though for Edd's case he would've gone the way of Heather and got thrown off the cliff by force, most likely by Eddy or Ed.
As for the Killer Bass, the only members that would've jumped would be Batman, Johnny, Zak and Jude.
At ohter members either would've been too stubborn to jump or (mostly) too scared shitless to to do so.
For the Hot-Tub Challenge, whoever has the best hot tub would win for today automatically.
The winning team for this episode would definitely be the Killer Bass.
The reason why is that the members would be able to work together quite easily, also helps that they do have Batman as a member.
The Screaming Gophers, on the other hand, given who their team is made up of, they would be quite the dysfunctional group.
As for who would be eliminated, we would have be saying goodbye to Bloo
If you guys know Bloo, it wouldn't be any surprise that he would definitely be the least helpful in this situation, given how lazy he can be. Doesn't help that he's also incredibly obnoxious.
22nd Place: Bloo
The Big Sleep:
This challenge would definitely be going to the Gophers, and for one reason....Ed.
Given how Ed once spent an entire month watching horror movies, with seemingly no rest, breaks or sleep whatsoever, he would definitely lead his team to victory (unintentionally though)
So the Bass would be the losing team this time around.
As for who would be eliminated, that honor would have to go to Jonesy.
The reason why is that I'd imagine during the discussion of who they should vote, Jonesy says some stupid shit that annoys everyone
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
Dodge-Brawl:
This challenge, once again, would have to go to the Screaming Gophers.
Given that they have insane powerhouses like Ben, Gwen, Kevin and Ed on their team, the Killer Bass would stand no chance, even with Batman's strategic thinking, Johnny and Zak's cunnning, or Scooby and Shaggy's speed and reflexes.
The one would be walking the Dock of Shame would have to be Caitlin.
Caitlin would definitely be the most physical useless of the team. She would also be like Noah, trying to weasel out of playing since it doesn't fit her style.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
So You Think You Got Talent?:
I couldn't really tell you what performances each team would do, but I can tell you who would be the losing team.
The Screaming Gophers would the losing team and for who would be eliminated, it would have to be Eddy.
Eddy would definitely do a performance involving him and the other Eds as an attempt to scam the others campers out of their money.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
19th: Eddy
The Sucky Outdoors:
The losing team for this challenge would be the Killer Bass, and the one to go would have to be Jude.
Given Jude's laid-back nature, he would most likely stray away from the group and end up lost in the woods, not even reuniting with them until the Gophers make it back to camp.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
19th: Eddy
18th: Jude
Phobia Factor:
Here are the following members of each team who would've conquered their fears.
The Screaming Gophers: Flapjack, Ben, Gwen, Kevin, Mac
The Killer Bass: Batman, Zak, Nikki, Wyatt
So with that number, the Killer Bass are back to elimination, and the one to go would have to be Scooby-Doo.....
I don't think I even need to explain this one.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
19th: Eddy
18th: Jude
17th: Scooby-Doo
Up the Creek:
For the third time in a row, the Screaming Gophers win again, thanks to the navigation skills of Gwen and Lazlo.
And for a third time in a row, the Killer Bass loses.
And the one to be eliminated would be to Johnny Test.
His reckless and impulsive nature would serve as a major detriment to the team. And with that being said, he would most likely do something stupid to stuff like the map and the canoes.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
19th: Eddy
18th: Jude
17th: Scooby-Doo
16th: Johnny Test
Paintball Deer Hunt
The winning team would definitely be the Killer Bass.
I don't think I need to explain for Batman, but Zak's experience with the wilderness would give him a major advantage over the opposing team and Shaggy's speed would also make pretty hard to catch.
I think the one to go from the Screaming Gophers would have to be Flapjack.
Given his naive nature, he would probably try to approach a bear in order to be friendly, only to end up meeting the same fate Cody did, resulting in the Gophers sending him home out of pity and concern.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
19th: Eddy
18th: Jude
17th: Scooby-Doo
16th: Johnny Test
15th: Flapjack
If You Can't Take the Heat:
Just like last time, the Killer Bass would win this challenge.
And the Gopher to walk the Dock of Shame would have to be Chowder.
Just like with Scooby, I don't think I need to explain the reason for his elimination.
Some would argue that the Killer Bass would lose since they have Shaggy on the team, but think they would still win since Shaggy is older and far less-scatterbrained than Chowder, so he would have a little more restraint.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
19th: Eddy
18th: Jude
17th: Scooby-Doo
16th: Johnny Test
15th: Flapjack
14th: Chowder
Who Can You Trust:
The Screaming Gophers would definitely lose this challenge and the one to go would have to be Ed.
While Ed has been a valuable teammate thanks to his incredible strength, his biggest drawback is definitely his insanely low intelligence.
And that low intelligence of his would definitely be a major detriment to his team since he doesn't listen to directions all that well.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
19th: Eddy
18th: Jude
17th: Scooby-Doo
16th: Johnny Test
15th: Flapjack
14th: Chowder
13th: Ed
Basic Straining:
The Killer Bass would most likely be the ones to lose and the one to blame would have to be Nikki.
Nikki is pretty rebellious and usually doesn't back down from a fight, I'd imagine that would serve as a major detriment to her team since
22nd Place: Bloo 21st Place: Jonesy 20th Place: Caitlin 19th: Eddy 18th: Jude 17th: Scooby-Doo 16th: Johnny Test 15th: Flapjack 14th: Chowder 13th: Ed 12th: Nikki
X-Treme Torture
I think it's safe to say that the Killer Bass would lose again for this challenge since when compared to the Screaming Gophers, they don't have the most physically adept people around.
And the one to take the Boat of Losers would have to be Wyatt.
Out of the remaining Killer Bass, Wyatt is arguably the least physically useful and let's be real...none of this stuff would be in his comfort zone.
22nd Place: Bloo
21st Place: Jonesy
20th Place: Caitlin
19th: Eddy
18th: Jude
17th: Scooby-Doo
16th: Johnny Test
15th: Flapjack
14th: Chowder
13th: Ed
12th: Nikki
11th: Wyatt
How here's all the contestants who make it to the merge.....
.Ben
.Gwen
.Kevin
.Edd
.Mac
.Lazlo
.Zak
.Batman
.Shaggy
.Jen
Well that's all for now! Let me know in the comments below on who you think should win the game!
And before you ask, yes, just like in the show, two of the previously eliminated contestants will return for the merge. Let me know who you guys want to see come back.

2022.06.13 03:59 SayNo2Nazis999 Original Cartoon Network Crossover Game

Original Cartoon Network Crossover Game
Hopefully this turns out looking okay, I've never posted on Reddit before. But! While not super prominent or anything, I've seen several references to FusionFall in several posts in regards to content for MultiVersus.
I loved the old FusionFall game, and still do thanks to various fan projects in the works. But I wanted to have a bit of a discussion on some ideas from the game I think could work for MultiVersus, and I'm hoping to hear from others as well who remember this Pre-Punch Time Explosion CN Crossover (though that game may be more relevant as it's also a fighting game).
  1. Nanos Anyways! One idea I've had in my head is the usage of Nanos as a part of this game. Although MV doesn't play the exact same, I figured that the Sidekicks from Brawlhalla could be similar to how they'd function in this game. They wouldn't do anything in battle or affect the gameplay in any way, but they could float around either with the player or in the background, I've pictured an example with both. I think they'd be a really cool visual addition, and a good thing to save for in the shop. Also, because they'd just be floating around, they wouldn't need a lot of programming with moves and voices, so they might not be difficult to add into the game (and could go beyond the fighter roster as well due to this). Again, they wouldn't interfere with combat, but they'd look cool. Let me know which of the pictured ideas you prefer too, like Bloo floating with the player or Rick faded in the background.
  2. Lord Fuse FusionFall doesn't have many major characters that could be fighters in MultiVersus, but the BIG one is Lord Fuse aka the Final Boss of FF. Most of the time I see him mentioned in the MultiVersus subreddits, he's listed as a boss, but I've considered several options that could be used in a playable moveset. And for MultiVersus, it's proven that size doesn't matter with the addition of Iron Giant and hints at other Kaiju types. He'd probably be a Boss, but do y'all think he'd be good playable, even if he's not super popular or likely? And are there any other OC characters from the game you think might work as fighters for MV? (here's looking at you Computress)
  3. Skins My last big idea that would come from FF is the option for alternate skins or character redesigns in general. Most of the characters currently known in MultiVersus are relatively humanoid or normal looking, but this might not keep up with all the art styles from the WB Multiverse. Especially the more Cartoon Network you get, shows like Dexter's Lab or Powerpuff Girls might feel out of place to some next to Arya Stark or Harley Quinn. Some may not be opposed to them looking pretty close to their original shows or format (including me), but if Warner Bros did want to give them more realistic looks FusionFall did just that to many of their Cartoon Network characters back in 2009. As an example, I've put two characters: Mandy from Grim Adventures and Numbuh Five from Kids Next Door. I'd imagine many would agree that they should look as they did in their own shows, but maybe some won't. Let me know what you all think!
And that's all, thanks for plowing through the post! I know it's a bit longer, I think it's relevant enough to MultiVersus in regards to potential content. I love crossover games, and while FF was my first taste of something like that, MV is my next. And I'm super excited for the game coming soon! Again, let me all know your opinions if ya got any, and especially if I missed anything else that could work in MultiVersus!
TLDR: Nanos, like Brawlhalla Sidekicks? Lord Fuse in the game? Original or realistic designs?
FusionFall and the Cartoon Network Multiverse
Nanos and Sidekicks: Friends in Fighting Games
Nano Sidekicks: Foreground or Background?
Lord Fuse: Big Boss or Fearsome Fighter?
Style: Originals or More Realistic?

if your reading this, then make sure to not watch cartoon network again: so one day... i was watching cartoon network for nostalgia, until a new episode of Billy and Mandy was coming up next, which was strange because the show was cancelled in 2008 and the creator Maxwell atoms was fired for ruining cartoon network, and then after a long commercial break, the episode started, then the intro started but there was a image flashing on the screen really fast then the intro ended and the image stayed still on the screen and i was shocked because the image was a image of Mandy, but it wasn't a kid friendly one, it was a image of Mandy's dead corpse on the ground with her organs out, maggots were on her body, her left eye was hanging out of her socket, and her mouth was stitched into a smile, which is really messed up, then a Mandy intro started, but she was dead and then Billy said: "hi! i'm Mandy your best friend!" which was creepy because Billy was happy while holding Mandy's corpse while talking, then the episode started, but it showed Billy and grim and grim said: "where's Mandy Billy?" and Billy said: "outside." and then grim saw the corpse of Mandy on the ground, and grim said: "what the hell?" and then Irwin came on screen, and as soon as he saw the corpse of Mandy, he said: "what happened to her!?" then Billy said: "do i have to explain?" he said while smiling, then Billy said: "well one day Mandy came here to kick my ass, and i stabbed her in the heart out of anger, then i finished her off by slicing her in half and cutting her eye out, and that's what happened to Mandy!" and then grim said: "but you just committed murder!" and Billy said: "i know that!" then Billy pulled out a chainsaw, then he cutted Irwin in half with blood and guts everywhere, then grim ran away in fear while Billy said: "come back grim! i want you to die!" then Mindy came along and said: " hi Billy!... what's with the chainsaw?" then Billy said: "nighty night fucker." then sliced Mindy's head off with grims sycthe that he dropped, then a title card appeared saying: "three weeks later..." then the screen showed grim with the other cartoon network shows and he said: "Billy is very dangerous! he killed Mandy!" he said in worry, then Steven universe said: "hopefully he won't come here" and then trick moon said: "i never had this happen before in my whole life!" then bloo and Mac both said: "what made Billy do those things?" then Billy came on screen and sliced Mac in half, then everyone ran away to try and hide, but Billy first found ice bear and killed him, then he found bliss the new Powerpuff girl, then as soon as he found peridot... she said: "what the fuck was wrong with you! you ham nosed clod!" then peridot was stabbed in her gem causing it to shatter, then, Billy killed almost everyone, and then Billy was about to kill Darwin, then all of a sudden, Billy was sliced by Benson, (from regular show) then grim said: "did you kill Billy?" and Benson said: "yes, to stop him from killing other universes!" then the episode ended with everyone who survived getting revenge on Billy's corpse, then the end credits played with only grim's tarot card, then the end credits ended with Maxwell atoms saying: "you made me make this episode, cartoon network." but it was not in reverse and after that i called cartoon network about the episode, and the said that they accidently aired it on TV, which i said but it had guts and blood!, then cartoon network said that they did'nt mean to do that, then after the call, i instantly turned off my TV and went to my room to try and forget the episode, and i had nightmares of that episode for a long time.

2022.01.09 21:06 tutetibiimperes Nugu Roundup #89 - Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My! - 220109 + Album Giveaway + Special Game!

Hello and welcome to the latest Nugu Roundup!
What is this?: This is a bi-weekly feature designed to highlight the unknown/underappreciated groups and soloists working hard in the Kpop world that often fall under the radar. Please share your own information, favorite performance videos, fanmeet stories, or anything else relevant below!
In the last regularly scheduled roundup we got to know the international girl group Secret Number. The Third Annual Kpop Nugu Awards were also recently completed, results are here if you missed them. This week let's check out one of my favorite new groups of 2021, let's play with TRI.BE!

What is Nugu?: While in Korean it literally means 'Who' in the broader Kpop context it refers to groups that are generally unknown amongst the greater public. It doesn't have to mean they're extremely new, though it can, and there are of course varying degrees of 'unknown' which some groups having very strong niche fandoms and others being almost invisible. I take a fairly broad view and will include groups that may be known to some, but who don't have widespread name recognition.
Let's get on with the show...

Shinsadong Tiger has said that a debut album had already been recorded with Songsung, Hyunbin, Nayoung, and the other trainees but that the company collapsed before it could be released. The group has worked with the same choreography team that worked with EXID and the choreographers say that they've had a lot of fun with TRI.BE because the girls are so energetic that they can do things that they couldn't do with EXID choreography.

Etymology and other trivia:
  • Caliber is the internal diameter or bore of a gun barrel.
  • Varrel-Load Riot Dragon is based on a riot gun—a type of firearm that is used to fire "non-lethal" or "less-lethal" ammunition for the purpose of suppressing riots.
  • Varrel-Code Dragon is a reference to how the "Topologic" monsters in the anime all used "Code" as part of their attack names.
  • Detonation Code is a pun on detonation cord— a thin, flexible plastic tube usually filled with pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN, pentrite). It is a high-speed fuse which explodes, rather than burns, and is suitable for detonating high explosives.
  • The Intertwined Swords are all named after famous swords from Chinese history and myths. (If not already apparent, this translation doesn't suggest their swords are physically intertwined, but more in a symbolic way.) The actual phrase used here (Souken) could be a homophone for various other Japanese phrases: "cold sharp sword" and "a responsibility fallen on one's shoulders" seem to be the most likely intentions.
  • Mo Ye is named after the myth of Gan Jiang and Mo Ye, who forged a pair of swords using parts of their own body, although the exact story varies.
  • Tai'e (lit. "great riverbank") is a traditional Chinese sword said to be wielded by Han Xin, titled the King of Chu, to lead his army against a Jin invasion. It had patterns like the waves of a flowing river.
  • Longyuan (lit. "dragon gulf")—its shape resembled that of a high mountain and a deep gulf. Goujian used it to cut a gash in his thigh as self-punishment when he mistakenly executed an innocent person.
  • Chunjun (lit. "purity")—its patterns resembled a row of stars in a constellation. This sword was so precious it was considered a joint creation between man and heaven. Auspicious Beast is commonly used to refer to a qilin (a mythical hooved chimerical creature that appears in Chinese mythology), and is said to appear with the imminent arrival or passing of a sage or illustrious ruler.
  • Chixiao (lit. "red sky" and pronounced "CHI SHAO") was a sword used by Liu Bang, the first emperor of the Han dynasty. According to legend, this sword was initially just an iron rod Liu Bang bragged about being a divine sword given to him by an immortal. After the braggart proved his courage by hunting down a huge white snake, the iron rod transformed into this legendary sword.
  • It is said that Chengying (roughly "inherited shadow") was a long sword without a blade. Strangely enough, it projected a shadow upon the wall in the dawn or the evening, when an alternation between daylight and darkness occurred. At this time, it was sharp enough to cut down a thick pine tree.
  • The Dragons' Intertwined Swords Appear (Ryuusoukengen) and Auspicious Research of the Intertwined Swords (Zuisoukenkyuu) contain puns on the multiple meanings of ken in Japanese, here being used as homophones for kengen ("manifestation") and kenkyuu ("research"), with the ken being the kanji for "sword." Zuisou is also written with Chinese characters that can mean "auspicious sign" or "good omen."
  • The Japanese phrase used for Fade to Black (anten) is the Japanese term for a thetrical blackout: when all stage lights go off so that the audience can be transporeted seamlessly to a different scene. It can also figuratively mean "to take a turn for the worse."
  • Icy Water (Hisui) is pronounced the same way as the Japanese word for jade, a precious green gemstone.
  • Acti and Tinola come from actinolite—an amphibole silicate mineral sometimes used as the gemstone nephrite, one of the types of jade.
  • Tremola comes from tremolite—another amphibole mineral which sometimes forms a nephrite.
  • Fuwandereeze is a portmanteau of fuwafuwa (onomatopeia for "lightly floating" or "soft and fluffy"), wonder (or maybe wander), and breeze. The × in the monsters' names is silent; it's usually a substitute for the word "and," indicating that Fuwandereeze refers only to the deep-blue birds which show up in every artwork. "Fuwandereeze" is written entirely in hiragana, which is uncharacteristic for non-Japanese words, probably suggesting that the deep-blue birds hail from Japan since they appear to be on a worldwide trip from their artworks.
  • Snowl is a corruption of snowy owl, which are native to the Arctic regions.
  • Robina is based on the European robin or robin redbreast, the national bird of England.
  • Eglen is based on the bald eagle, the national bird of the United States.
  • Stri is a corruption of ostrich, flightless birds native to Africa.
  • Toccan is a corruption of toucan, tropical birds which live in Central and South America.
  • Empen is a shortening of emperor penguin—the tallest and heaviest of all living penguin species, which is endemic to Antarctica.
  • Nyamini is based on the Nyami Nyami, otherwise known as the Zambezi River god or Zambezi Snake spirit; it is one of the most important gods of the Tonga people. The Nyami Nyami is believed to protect the Tonga people and give them sustenance in difficult times. It's usually depicted as having the body of a snake and the head of a fish.
  • Coatl comes from Quetzalcoatl, a serpentine deity from Aztec mythology.
  • Melusine (pronounced "MEL-YOU-ZEEN") is a figure of European folklore, a female spirit of fresh water in a holy well or river. She is usually depicted as a woman who is a serpent or fish from the waist down (much like a mermaid). She is also sometimes illustrated with wings, two tails, or both.
  • Lamification is a portmanteau of Lamia and ramification—in botany, the divergence of the stem and limbs of a plant into smaller ones, i.e. trunk into branches, branches into increasingly smaller branches, etc. In the artwork, this wordplay is represented as Reptiless Hydra transforming into the multi-headed Reptiless Lamia.
  • Destroy Phoenix-Guy is named after one of the meanings given to the letter "D" in the HERO D-Series, by Edo in the GX anime: "DESTINY. DESTROY. DEATH."
  • Break the Destiny is a reference to a line Edo says to the possessed Saio near the end of their Duel in the anime: Kowarero unmei ("Begone, destiny!" or "break apart" more literally). The artwork depicts D-HERO Bloo-D's Bloody Fears attack, which happens right after he says the line.
  • Greater Magical Key seems to be a reference to The Greater Key of Solomon, an English edition of The Key of Solomon. Maphteahl might be a combination of maphteah (Hebrew for "key") and Baal (the first king of Hell in the Ars Goetia).
  • Transfulmine (pronounced "TRANS-FUL-MEENAY") is a portmanteau of transformation and fulmine (Italian for "lightning").
  • Vepartu is named after Vepar—a strong Great Duke of Hell who rules twenty-nine legions of demons and is depicted as a merman. He governs the waters and guides armored ships laden with ammunition and weapons; he can also make, if requested, the sea rough and stormy, and to appear full of ships.
  • Ad Libitum (Latin for "as much as desired") or ad-lib is used in drama to describe individual moments during live theater when an actor speaks through their character using words not found in the play's text. Corrupt Play (kyougeki) is a play on the Japanese term for the Peking opera (also pronounced kyougeki).
  • The Penguins are all named after standard JRPG character roles.
  • Orbitael is likely a combination of (celestial) orbit and -tael (a common ending for angel names). It may also be a reference to Urbi et Orbi—a papal address and apostolic blessing given by the pope on certain solemn occasions.
  • Ruinforce is a portmanteau of ruin and reinforce, as well as a callback to Machiners Force.
  • Mimetizing Man-Eater Bug is based on mimesis—a type of mimicry in which an animal has evolved a resemblance to an inanimate object, usually leaves or twigs.
  • Condemned Heavens (Tengoku) is written as a portmanteau of the first and second kanji for heaven (tengoku) and hell (jigoku), respectively.
  • Soldra-Pomme is made up of the words Sol (latin for "Sun"), dra(gon), and pomme (French for "apple," referring to a pineapple in this case). Fengli (pronounced "PHONE-LEE") is the pronunciation of a Chinese word for "pineapple."
  • The Heavy in Goldknight's Heavy Rousing Chivalry refers to "heavy machinery." The Road comes from the fact the Japanese word for "chivalry" literally means "road of the knight."
  • Indomitable Beast Servant in Japanese is written so that Beast Servant is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for "beast" and "manservant."
  • Nyattering might be a portmanteau of nya (the Japanese equivalent of "meow") and chattering (also known as contact bounce)—a common problem with mechanical switches and relays that causes the on/off states to bounce between each other before finally closing.
  • Transonic is a word denoting or relating to speeds close to that of the speed of sound.
  • Beartron is a portmanteau of Bearcti and Draightron. The celestial poles are the two imaginary points in the sky where the Earth's axis of rotation, indefinitely extended, intersects the celestial sphere.
  • Daimon is an Ancient Greek word referring to lesser supernatural beings, including minor gods and the spirits of dead heroes. This word later became the etymological origin of the word "demon." Zoroa comes from zoroastrianism.
  • Rui-Kyupid is a portmanteau of ruikyuu (an archaic Japanese term for softball), kyuu (Japanese for "bow"), and Cupid.
  • A super-dreadnought is a more powerful version of the dreadnought—the predominant type of battleship in the early 20th century.
  • An auxiliary ship is a naval ship designed to operate in support of combatant ships and other naval operations.
  • Evil★Twin's Trouble Sunny is probably supposed to be interpreted as "Sunny, the Evil★Twin's Trouble." Sunny is the name of the girl on the right (the left one's called Luna, by the way).
  • The kanji used for "Splendor" in Stigma of Splendor is the same first kanji used to write "Scorching Splendor" in Masquerade, the Dragon of Scorching Splendor's name.
  • Royal Penguins Garden's initialism spells out RPG.
  • Sowing means planting a seed by scattering it on or in the earth.
  • Night Flight is a play on the two different meanings of the word "flight": flying and escaping.
  • Small World is a reference to the small-world experiment, which comprised several experiments conducted by Stanley Milgram and other researchers examining the average path length for social networks of people in the United States. The research was groundbreaking in that it suggested that human society is a small-world-type network characterized by short path-lengths. he experiments are often associated with the phrase "six degrees of separation." The connected spheres in the artwork also resemble a path diagram.
  • A Giant Star Falls is the literal meaning of a Japanese idiom which means "a great man has died." Here, "Star" is used to refer to Levels and Ranks.

2021.01.30 15:27 Wilfredcthulu [TOMT] [Cartoon Network] [2004] Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends "Who's that?" promos

Ok so firstly let me clarify, this is a repost I'm doing from lostmedia so apologies in advanced because this isn't something I forgot per say but just no one can find anywhere. I thought that if I got no results from lost media in a day then I'd try here since it's much more used, and I was suggested here in the comments of the original post so... Anyway here it is:
So way before the show premiered and even had a name drop I believe, Cartoon Network did these short promos where they'd have a character walk down an aisle and you'd hear the narrator go all like "Woah who's that?" Then it would say to check their website to find out (which I've never seen before).
Reminiscing about these with a friend, I decided to look for them. I looked and only found the one with Bloo (the first and most frequently aired of them) which was not only a little tough to get, but was only uploaded 2 MONTHS AGO and by a channel that is contastly uploading the most random cartoon crap all the time, but this was notably unfitting. I thought I could've been wrong on there being more for other characters but I remember it too clearly and another commenter said they did do more. Said commenter also asked if the uploader has the others and if they'd upload them. Unsurprisingly, there was no response and I didn't see any checking the uploads.
Does anyone else remember these and know if they can be found? Cause it would be really sad if it turns out these are just lost.

2020.11.26 14:37 VXXXX19XX Animaniacs 2020: Everything right and wrong with reboots/remakes

Good days everyone of this planet! This year has been quite challenging huh? So many trials and tribulations left and right. But let's get down to the nitty gritty. I have been hearing about a favorite childhood show of mine, has been risen from the dead somehow. I am just as shocked as you all. For somebody who has been busy with college, exercise, reinvention and etc., I was a little nervous in coming back to see how this reboot would turn out. Believe it or not, I had to literally pray about it before I entered into the realm of the entertainment industry. Let's just say that my experiences with many "fandoms and corporations" of this industry have been back and forth.
Animaniacs has helped me through a lot of childhood issues in my life. I related to every character in every single way. Yakko with being a leader in a fatherless household. Dot with loving myself through my strange/creative ways. Wakko with accepting being weird and know that you are not a mistake in this world. All other characters have helped me with the topics of standing up for myself, fighting for what you believe, the importance of learning, fighting temptations, loving yourself when a woman won't love you back and so many more. It blows my mind how much this show has educated, challenged and helped me when I was just 6 years old.
If I were to be critical of the original Animaniacs, I would say that the show ended too soon in my opinion. But money talks right? But to be more blunt, I would say that the way that the characters were written, is quite questionable. But as I got older, I realized why the characters were made that way. As an elder once told me, "Keep living kid. You will get it and understand it by and by." While I agree with other critical arguments of the original, I seriously can't think of any. That's quite an accomplishment.
Now when it comes to the fandom of Animaniacs, I was quite shocked to see so much fan art for various age groups/genres, fan fiction, OC's and etc. when it comes to this show. But in my opinion, I didn't feel like it was enough. Especially when all I mostly saw was Minerva Mink and the main three characters. (I saw other characters drawn but not as much) If I was a co-creator of this show, that would be quite discouraging for me. Mr. Harada, the creator of Tekken once stated that, "Each character that he created in his game, is like his own child." I feel that they all deserve some attention. So why did I bring up the "lack" of attention of the side characters? Well? Time to turn my attention to the reboot that rattled/challenged my brain quite a bit these past two days.
The reboot is quite spectacular and lacking in many ways. On one hand, it uses meta-humor and breaks the 4th wall in such a way, that blows my understanding. On the other hand, it feels outdated and updated at the same time. I wonder how that is even possible? I also noted how almost each new episode, is directed by a different person. I never knew that was a thing when it comes to animated cartoons and what not these days. But what intrigues me, is how "divided" the fanbase of old/new, is towards this "reboot" of the show. I would like to present some questions/thoughts, in a way that would make you all understand what I am saying. (Keep in mind that I have SPCD. Look it up please)
First off, the first episode starts off in a confusing/messy matter. Why did the Warners repeat their lines too many times after the intro? What was the point of them making a joke about selling out? Was it to send a message to everyone else who is selling out this year from many social media sites? Then we go to the episodes with Pinky and the Brain. Why is it that Brain and Pinky continue to fail after twenty years of preparation? Furthermore, why is the writing so off in some episodes but perfected in others? The Warners even made a joke about how "They were lost and don't know how they are gonna do this reboot? "
Was this intentional? I have never had a cartoon, TV show and etc., challenge me this much in quite some time. There over use of breaking the 4th wall is quite jarring and impressive, but then the show becomes very self aware. For instance, in one of the episodes about things being "cute," Dot Warner eats a cupcake (Which some many interpret as drugs, antidepressants or so some sort of magical entity) and everything around them is perfect. Then afterwards, the Warners go insane, do something disgusting and the world is back to normal? Or what about the episode with the zit, where Dot Warner is trying to teach people to live with your imperfections/how you will appreciate it more once you look back once you made it? I'm sorry folks, but this reboot is pretty dark/realistic in more ways than one. (Rewatch the episodes and take notes if you have to)
Why is it that these episodes are reminding me of old sayings from elders? These sayings consist of "Do uno others as you want done unto you." Another scene with Pinky and the Brain, where Brain fails to take over a royal kingdom, reminds of another saying of, "For those who do not see/hear the warning from afar, will surely fail and fall for their own trap." In a more deep matter during the halloween episode, I was reminded of this saying of "Woe unto those who see right as wrong and wrong as right/ those who only see their only understanding." And what is intriguing enough, is that in that same episode, I was reminded of one more saying, "Cast your cares elsewhere and be set free. Resist your old ways and be renewed." What is going on?
The jokes of that one female senator with the mayo jar, bloo (or is it blue) the bird being jealous and letting his angefrustration run off his friends, Fox/CNN news being looked upon as a joke, reboots/remakes sad reality, fans annoying the creators of man made products and so much more, just hits too hard in the heart for me. Now look at 2020. I don't want to depress anybody so you know where I am going with this. While Family Guy, Simpsons, South Park and many adult sitcoms can make jokes about this in a way that only adults can comprehend/understand, Animaniacs 2020 does it in a way, where we see ourselves as human beings. Human beings who have created a world that should have been better for us all, but it isn't. Why? Because we give in to our own selfish desires and wants. (Look back at Will Smith's Tik Tok relating to likes and dislikes) But with all that being said, I personally feel that some of the jokes do not hit hard enough. Instead, it leads me into a place of pure insanity/confusion, as I am trying to figure out why use old references/mix new references in 2020?
Come on people! The senator with the Mayo jar is an obvious sex joke. The rapper talking about "the old stuff stinks" is a sly attack on how the new generation views the old ways of literature and etc. The scary imagery of the cartoons faces at times, shows us how much we give into sin every single day without even noticing it. The constant confusion between the characters, shows us that when we don't believe in something, we fall for everything. How the writers portrayed certain fans as "neck beards" and those who complain all day, is reminiscent to how the WWE/other entertainment companies, look at their #1 fans/those who are too focused on being like them. The Hulu joke was targeted those who sell their sells to make a profit. I can go on and on. But I think you all get my points sort of?
The more I watched the show, the more I had to research certain advanced terminology, re-watch math videos, listen to motivational speeches/old teachings from elders and even read some books. That was the only way I could understand what was going on. Don't worry. I understood what was going on and why the jokes were portrayed the way they in that particular context. But my concern was why? Yakko even made a comment in the first episode about, how it is impossible to catch up with everything that happened in the past couple of decades. It is true? We have elders who teach us the old ways, but are scared to introduce us to new methods. An elder told me that, "There is nothing wrong with honoring new ways, for there are many ways to do/teach things." Kind of reminds me on how some pastors/bishops, ministers and etc. are stuck in the past/are afraid to talk about certain hard hitting topics like death, sex, addiction, murder, consequences of sin and relating certain things that happen in the Bible into the fictional world when it comes to the entertainment industry. The old characters of this show are literally like us, as we try to understand what is going on and why the world is advancing so quickly, but we are making less results when it comes to creating peace within ourselves/others?
I will never forget how I made an "accidental" joke on Deviantart and how somebody on Deviantart, told me off and stated that I "hated the gays." That hurted me. I was taught to love all/forgive all no matter what. (I even apologized) I talked to an older artist on the site and he told me that, "You did nothing wrong. That person has something up with them up there and is hurting. Don't think about it too much." Stuff like that just shuts me down and makes me keep to myself. But I continue to re-learn that, "You got to stand firm, learn from your mistakes, research and let it be." When the Animaniacs made that Johnny Depp joke, people took it the wrong way, participated in cancel culture and failed to see the bigger picture. Johnny Depp married a woman who was obviously not mentally stable. The warnings were there and now he wants the world to feel sorry for him? (Same with Amber Heard) A fool despises instruction taken from a wise man. (Isn't it ironic how certain literacy pieces from the past, will forever remain with us/be re-enacted forever through our words, thoughts and etc.?)
So why did I mention the Animanaics fandom again? Well? It was because I thought that while the writing of the new reboot of season 1, was brilliant but a little predictable, I felt that maybe the fans would enlighten me with their art pieces, OC's and etc., that I can use as examples to prove my points further, on how the writing could have been improved. Annnnnnnnnd that was a bust. I was shocked to see that the fandom of Animaniacs barely has a lot of fan comics/fan fiction, that is written even worse, average or somewhat better than what was offered to us already. I was always taught that the "fans are always right." Well for the first time ever in my life, the fans didn't even know what to do if they could re-write some of the episodes, make any of the songs or add new characters to their fan comics/fan ficition, without parodying something. My jaw dropped and I had to go back and research again. I even noticed how those who reviewed the show, seem to state the same things that I am saying, praise the show without question or are mixed.
Going back to the reboot, I was confused with one of the jokes in the show. People hated Blue the bird? WHAT? I thought people hated that one girl who constantly put her pet in danger? I never hated that bird character at all. And the fact that he was the least favorite of the bunch, actually made me feel bad for the character. The show manipulates your feelings darn it!
One moment you are crying for a character and then the next, it expects you to laugh at a joke about politics/morality. When Pinky got his heart broken by a harlot, I had to think/wonder what just happened. When Ms. Vice President Kamala Harris was not mentioned as a first lady, I had to go back and study my politics to understand why that was the case. Do you see what this reboot does to you? It can drive you insane if you are not careful. I am honestly scared to look back at any of the episodes/play back any of the songs at all. It is a constant reminder of how reality is scary and how without God, we will continue to fail in everything that we do/fall in the traps of anybody who continues to deceive us. (Look at how Justin Bieber and Kanye West got their life together and are getting made fun of for it)
What is even more odd, is the complaints/criitcal reviews of the show, that left Animaniacs the reboot, with a metacritic score in the 70's percentile out of 100. An average score for an Animaniacs reboot??? How is that possible? What is even more baffling, is how the show is not focused on making you laugh at all. No. It is more focused on making you thinking about the constant downgrade, upgrade and then downgrade again of human civilization. I even had to cry manly tears when season 1 was over.
My tears was based on realization of what we have done. The realization that our children are slowly giving their way to being deceived by anything. How we are losing our sight of God each day. It even goes as far as to thinking about how we as humans, give too much attention/power to things/rich people, who are not even God. It blows my mind everyday. The jokes/meta humor hit me really hard and I had to go back to my Bible/read scripture after scripture.
Ok. It is time for me to wrap things up before I end up writing a 20 page essay on the Animaniacs reboot on Thanksgiving day. In conclusion, this show needs work. Some of the jokes fail because we are introduced to another joke afterwards. It is way too fast paced when it comes to trying to teach us something and it doesn't seem focused at all/relies too much on meta-humoold past events. But maybe these jokes were told because....that is how we are in real life when we are distracted? For instance, the anime inspired episode goes from talking about being obsessed with chickens, to anime fights and then we have dingos who make an inside joke about "taking the chickens and the addicted chicken person" somewhere else? (Yeah. They are either dead, being tortured or going to jail)
I don't want to reveal too much because that would spoil the whole first season and Hulu corporate/Warner Bros., does not take too kindly to that at all. I put a lot of thought into this analysis post and I still feel like I am missing some points and know that most people will laugh, mock and try to report my post. Before you do, just know that I am an Animaniacs fan since I was a kid and I know when something just doesn't feel right. (Especially when the show is self aware when something is told in a wonky way, when some parodies don't hit, when people are losing interest and when they are able to perfectly tell what the audience is thinking.) Anyway, watch the first season in full and tell me what you all think/learned about it. (Please focus on the learning part) Sometimes we get caught up in being entertained, that we forget the lesson in....well? Everything.
So Animaniacs gets reboots right by: 1. Staying true to it's original format. 2. Trying new things. 3. Offering throwbacks from the old show. 4. Talking about hard hitting topics. (I wish they hit them a little bit harder and in a more brilliant way like Midnight Gospel and Bojack Horseman)
And the Animaniacs gets reboots wrong by: 1. Being over-reliant on it's old format. 2. Offering too many throwbacks from it's original show. (Then how is this a reboot?) 3. Getting rid of characters that helped carry the show. (Focusing on just the popular characters, gets old really fast. Trust me. Batman wouldn't be Batman without his Bat family and Alfred. Teen Titans Go wouldn't work/make us cringe without Robin's team.) 4. Not introducing us to a new Animaniac. (Come on. Why not?) 5. Combining references and repeating jokes that will miss many age demographics. 6. Constantly making jokes about itself/using the word reboot, when the show is being showcased to us as a continuation.
I can go on and on, but I refuse to do so. Listen, you are probably lost with everything that I just stated and that is fine. But this is how the show spoke to me. I like it and I have some critiques with it. But I can't be like everyone else and just give it a 8-10/10. I have learned a lot in this show. Just kind of wish that I could laugh a little bit more. Being self aware is great, but never be afraid to try new things.
Teen Titans Go is hated by a lot of people, but whether we like it or not, that show is carrying Cartoon Network from collapsing into the ground of bankruptcy. (Same with Spongebob Squarepants /Power Rangers/Loud House with Nickelodeon) This was a quite the entertaining/educational journey for me, but I don't want to deal with another headache like this again. (Unless it is a college project that I am getting a grade for)
I feel that the writers and creators of this show need y'all help. So be honest. I can tell that a lot of heart/soul went into this show. And weird enough? I feel that some folks that work on that show, knows who the real "king of kings" is if you know what I mean? My advice is for creators, to look up "Bojack Horseman and Midnight Gospel" and to really pay attention how everything is organized/written. It has that perfect blend of being funny/dramatic in a way, that brings the purpose of each episode home. It is ok to take some elements from TTG, but don't take "All of their elements." Kind of like how fighting games love to borrow from Capcoms/EA's business practices due to desperation. When times get desperate, you need to think and try something else that will still bring you to the top. (Not the other way around) HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE and I am happy to see that this show is getting another season! ^^

2020.06.25 18:25 RealTimeNinjaHours I use to like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends...until I realized Bloo was being such an irreparable douchebag.

When I was younger, I use to watch a cartoon Network show called Foster's Home for imaginary Friends. Basically the premise was that an old lady would foster unwanted imaginary friends until they would find a new kid who would take them in and then would bring them back once they grow too old.
now the pilot movie that came out was pretty good and honestly set up the entirety of the cartoon itself rather nicely. The main characters of the show was Max and his imaginary friend named Bloo, who was just basically a blue ghost or something. Now in the movie both of them seemed rather fun and interesting, Bloo was mischievous and a bit self-centered but not to an extent where it was hatable.
That is until the show started to come out and for some reason the character took such a 180 that it was irritating to watch him every time he did something. Bloo when from a well-meaning mischievous character to basically the biggest dick hole in the entire show and everything he did he never learned from or ever gave a s***, in fact half of the things he's done throughout the show almost feel like it's out of poor intent in almost malicious. every single character was fine except him for some reason, he just became the most irredeemable individual. I'm not certain if it's me but I really don't like it when a character is played out to be a terrible individual and it's played out for laughs or "characterization", if a character is going to act like Eric Cartman from South Park but without the charm or the right amount of raunchiness, you might as well not write such a character in and try to make them out to be a good friend in any sort of manner.
I'm not certain if anyone noticed this while watching it but I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Laura Frost's writing or what I really don't know.

2020.06.17 23:32 TheAusNerd Debris [Part 34]

[First] [Previous] [Next]
-----
Arnd stretched her legs in the back of T'aro's extravagantly roomy limousine, triple-checking her bag to make sure she had everything she needed. T'aro sat opposite her, indulging his appetite for top shelf lija sourced from orchards in the verdant highlands beyond the great plains of X'rtan. At the wheel was K'ul, deftly navigating the air far above the asphalt roads of Ta'X'rtana. The dense throng of the city's center was not long behind them when the sun glowed golden as it began its afternoon descent toward the sparkling sea, and towering pillars of stone, glass, and metal let scant views of the vessel-thick waters beyond peek between them. Finally, at what many consider the beginning of Ta'X'rtana's outskirts, Arnd asked K'ul to stop by a homely, if modern abode sandwiched between an apartment complex and a corner store frequented by youths on their way to school.
Arnd stepped out of the vehicle and onto the familiar pavement, her eyes tracing along every familiar crack in the stone beneath her feet. She stepped past the thin front garden, populated by low-maintenance plants, and made her way up the smooth wooden steps onto the deck. She shortly produced her key from her bag and entered her house, harshly, but not too harshly reminding herself not to linger.
The door opened to a wide lounge room furnished with a pair of large plush sofas, a short table housing many unread magazines, and a television that Arnd had meant to replace for months now, but worked wonders as a conversation piece for the rare occasions where guests were over. An orderly, if rarely used kitchen lay past the living room, separated by an artistic wooden partition. Over on the right wall was a sliding glass door to the miniscule paved space wrapping around the house that she hesitantly called a backyard, situated close by a staircase, which Arnd immediately made for, trying to keep her mind focused on the task at hand.
Once on the landing, Arnd looked directly ahead to a door whose handle was worn with heavy use. With reluctance, she afforded herself a look inside. What was once a guest bedroom had been converted into a miniature cinema, decorated in all the paraphernalia to set the mood, and complete with sound system; a top-of-the-line television; plush velvety seating; and even a mini fridge. Immediately upon looking into the room, memories of decades past flooded her head, and she took a moment to bask in the past.
She continued on, passing a broom closet and the upstairs bathroom until finally she came upon the upstairs master bedroom. Her bedroom. The blinds covering the glass wall leading out to a small balcony softened the ever-reddening sunlight into a warm glow that bathed the room in a rich orange. A bed large enough to accommodate Arnd's frequent tossings and turnings sat as the center of the right wall, directly in front of the door, and beside it was a dresser with an in-built lamp that was just strong enough not to hurt the eyes at night. A family portrait was hung on the opposite wall, next to a large mirror on a desk that Arnd used every day to double check she looked okay one last time before leaving for work. Finally, opposite the window, was a double wide wardrobe; Arnd opened it to see clothing dating from last week all the way back to her childhood, she never had the motivation to throw anything away unless it was sufficiently ripped. On the floor of the wardrobe sat a filing cabinet that was far too large for the amount of paperwork that Arnd actually brought home with her. She quickly flipped through the sheafs of paper until she came across a thick document in a folder emblazoned with the X'rtan Freight logo. She stared at the contract a few long seconds before leaving; she knew that the longer she stuck around, the harder it would be to leave.

From the well-lit tunnel running through the base of Ta'X'rtana, the limousine emerged into the mountain's shadow, and closed in on X'rtan Freight's regional hangar standing strong against the emptiness of the land around it. Past the local shipping vehicles parked in front of the building and under the shade of the parking lot, K'ul found a prime parking spot on the third floor. Arnd began climbing out.
<"Remember,"> began T'aro.
<"Keep it quick, I know."> replied Arnd exasperatedly. She shut the door and stepped into a nearby elevator to the ground floor; she shut her eyes and tried not to shake.
The elevator opened to the wide foyer. Afternoon sunlight played off the glass bannisters of the walkways above, and the sound of subdued chatter and footsteps filled the air with a relaxed, if formal atmosphere. Looking about at the walls decorated in company slogans and framed awards, Arnd felt herself growing ever more nostalgic in the knowledge that her time here was about to come to an end. She walked along the smooth floor, feeling the ever-polished stone floor beneath her feet as she did at the age of 24, and her grip on her bag tightened.
The front desk was staffed by a chipper young woman, typing away at her computer; she looked happy to be there. Arnd approached and got her attention.
<"Welcome to X'rtan Freight! How may I help you?"> She sounded as young as she looked.
<"I'm here for a formal dismissal."> Arnd replied, showing the girl her captain's badge.
Immediately the girl's tone darkened, taken aback somewhat. <"Oh, okay. Please take a seat and someone will be with you shortly.">
Arnd took her seat at a bench near the desk, and closed her eyes to try and tried to tune out the environment around her. She could remember the first time she walked up to that counter; she was shorter then, more starry-eyed, she didn't know what her decision to sign up would lead her to or how it would all end. Those days weren't much simpler, but they were simpler, when she was young and dumb and didn't know what life was really like. Looking back, she would have done a lot of things differently if she could: try and convince her uncle and father to stay, focus more on her studies, find a better boyfriend, but signing up for X'rtan Freight? She would never regret that, even for all the hardship it brought her. She shook, reminiscing on her centrifuge training and the acquaintances she made in the academy; she recalled her first takeoff, and the first time she looked out to see Kerc-en glowing beneath her; she looked back on all the countless hours she spent fixing damage to the ship both inside and out, and the workings of the machines she used to do it; she remembered climbing the ranks to captain, proud of every step she took, and bathing in the praise of her superiors and juniors alike. Her eyes began to dampen, and she realized that there was no escaping how she felt about this.
<"Captain Kolr."> spoke a familiar, commanding voice.
The voice snapped Arnd out of her trance, and she looked up. A short, solidly-built man stood beside the desk with a presence that demanded attention and respect in spite of the ease with which he exuded it; he was dressed in garb befitting his position, with a column of badges denoting the positions he earned on his way to the top. He looked on Arnd with a somber fondness.
<"Chief Urtakr!"> Arnd exclaimed, standing to attention and saluting.
<"At ease, Captain."> Arnd complied. <"With me, please.">
Up a lift to the top floor of the facility, and past hallways warmly lit with orange sunlight, Arnd and Urtakr arrived in his formally decorated office, and the pair sat down at the Chief's desk. The two looked at each other for a long and silent while, taking in the moment. Urtakr sighed deeply. <"I couldn't believe it when I got the message from the higher ups either. After all you've done, this is how it ends. I wish that this could have gone down differently, Captain.">
<"Um, with all due respect, Chief, I'm not a captain anymore.">
<"Until I dismiss you, you are a captain; and I won't hear anyone, not even you, saying otherwise."> Arnd gave a weak smile before Urtakr continued. <"I don't know what they think they're doing firing you, you've been a fantastic employee, ever since you signed up. I would be offering to take you back right now if it weren't for a company mandated grace period, but trust me when I say that the offer remains open, if slim after this whole debacle.">
<"Thank you, Chief.">
Urtakr breathed heavily, and his expression darkened. <"Captain, your contract, please.">
<"N-"> Arnd caught herself before she made a fool of herself, and slid her contract across the desk. Urtakr opened the file and slowly leafed through the file. He pulled out a stamp, and hesitantly scorched a seal onto the final page, officially ending Arnd's employment at X'rtan Freight. The pair let the moment sink in with no shortage of subdued anguish.
Finally, Urtakr stood up. <"Stand up, Captain."> Biting back every rebuttal that came to mind, Arnd complied. The pair faced each other, and Urtakr began. <"Captain Arnd Kolr, it brings me no shortage of pain to perform this duty. Your time with this company has been one of note, with not a single mark against your work for the past thirty two years. In training and cadetship, your eagerness to learn was showcased in your impressive growth and quality of both procedure and results. You bounced between positions, slowly making your way to the top with distinction, professionalism, and exemplary work ethic. As captain, though it was your first and thus far only assignment in the position, you not only directed your crew through a deadly threat, you completed your assignment and, by bringing home an extraterrestrial visitor, benefited the entirety of x'errenkind. There is not a single other employee in the history of this company with a record like yours, Captain. And that is why it pains me to ask for your badge.">
Arnd produced her badge from her bag, gripping it tightly enough to cause her pain. She took one last look at it, its bronzen form engraved with her name and rank stared back at her, and Arnd wanted to hold onto it forever. But she finally relinquished it, and knew that by doing so, she insulted thirty two years of blood and tears.
Urtakr held the badge with reverence, gingerly placing it in his breast pocket. One final deep breath. <"As of this instant, you are hereby dismissed. Your due compensation will be sent to you within the san'lo."> Both he and Arnd felt the sting of the moment, and shared an empathic salute. <"Now please, if you would allow me the privilege to personally escort you from the building."> Arnd nodded.
The foyer was oddly quiet, with little but the tapping of the receptionist typing at her computer to fill the void. The pair stood by the elevator as it arrived on the ground floor, a young man in an engineer's uniform rushed out and across the floor to clock in for an off-world assignment; Arnd watched him go with nostalgia before stepping in.
Urtakr cleared his throat. <"It was a pleasure having you on our team. I wish that fortune favours you in your future endeavours, Miss Kolr."> And the elevator doors closed as he saluted one final time, and Arnd was taken back up to the parking lot. She resisted the urge to punch the wall.
After a short walk, Arnd reached the limousine, whose door was ajar, revealing T'aro sat waiting with an aura of impatience and displeasure. She climbed in, closing the door behind her. Immediately after she took her seat, K'ul set off at a pace that felt to Arnd just a bit too hasty to mean anything good.
T'aro leant toward the dividing window. <"K'ul, make it quick and take the skies when possible. I'll take care of any speeding fines.">
<"Yes sir."> the man replied, deadpan.
He turned to Arnd. <"You took a bit longer than I expected, is there a problem?">
<"No.">
<"Good; if we're out for much longer, there may be cause to investigate your absence from X'rtani House. However, there is another issue at hand."> he stated angrily, bringing up a display in the center of the space. It was a video on Ta'X'rtana News's Flow page.
Mark sits on a sofa, looking at something offscreen. What stands out is the window behind him; it looks almost fractured, as though it was carved to replicate stone. Beyond the window is a view of Ta'X'rtana's monolithic buildings. The camera slowly sweeps behind the human to show the film he is watching. The video is of the interior of Arnd's room.
Arnd stared, teeth visible as a thin white line. <"What. The. Fuck?">
T'aro shifted, yet his displeasure remained. <"I take it you were not aware of this?">
<"Of course not! If I was, I would be beating Mark bloo- trying to beat Mark bloody!">
T'aro looked to her quizzically, but kept his questions to himself. <"I'd advise against that, Mister Stevens likely has nothing to do with this; he was alone the entire time, and quite engrossed if him not moving from his seat is anything to go off.">
Arnd's initial assumption dashed, she thought further. <"Maybe someone leaked security footage?"> She already had a culprit in mind, as guilty as her first thought made her feel.
<"Likely, but none of the cameras installed in your rooms capture that angle, let alone move like that.">
Arnd stammered in disbelief. <"S-so what is this?">
<"We're considering two options, both equally unsettling: they either managed to sneak in a camera without our cameras picking it up, which is quite unlikely; or this video is a digital recreation based on the security footage, which has all manner of implications I don't want to think about.">
Arnd knew exactly what he was talking about. Somebody with a model of Mark that convincing could easily fabricate any number of stories happening behind closed doors, should they prove willing to go beyond a simple recreation. And as tenuous as Arnd's view on Mark was, she knew how closely she was associated with him in the public eye, and how much damage false stories such as those would do to her reputation. <"So what are our options?"> she asked.
<"Right now, all we can do is ask Mister Stevens about yesterday and extrapolate from there.">
Shade encapsulated the vehicle as K'ul pulled into a small porte-cochère carved from the sheer mountainside beside the main entrance to X'rtani House. <"We have arrived, sir."> spoke K'ul through a hidden speaker.
The display was cut as the door opened. T'aro quickly stepped out onto the pavement and looked back to Arnd expectantly. This was needless, as Arnd hopped out right behind him and lead the way into X'rtani House, eager for answers.

Not too proud to admit that he had hit a wall when it came to the topic of pre-revolution X'rtan, Mark decided to close the Flow page he was on, put his data pad down, and perform a short exercise routine in the hopes that increased blood flow would help him think his way through the barrier. Not long after he had began, his doorbell rang. He rose from his sit-ups, quickly wiped off the sweat on his brow, and answered the door, to greet T'aro and Arnd, the latter of whom slipped past the human without a word.
Mark didn't like the feeling he got from Arnd as he turned to listen to T'aro, still in the doorway. <"Mister Stevens, may I enter? We have an issue to discuss.">
"Of course." he replied, not about to deny the man who held the reins on the power dynamic.
T'aro made himself comfortable at the kitchen table, begging Mark and Arnd to take a seat, which they did. T'aro then handed his data pad to Mark, the offending video onscreen. The video and an explanation of the situation commenced and soon concluded, T'aro taking back his data pad from the human. <"So,"> the man asked. <"What can you tell us about this?">
"Nothing." Mark replied, terrified but outwardly calm. "I didn't notice anyone else enter or leave other than Arnd. I think I felt that something was off, but I'd attribute that to the film more than anything; those Hu'wari are freaky." he prayed silently that T'aro would believe the truth. In the time before the man answered, Mark took a brief glance at Arnd, and saw the ghost of a scowl he knew he could neither face nor challenge.
T'aro considered his words for a long and quiet moment. <"I agree; those things are terrifying. Well, that leads me to believe that someone is giving away security footage. We can only hope that nobody in this chain is the vindictive sort, I don't want to think about what they could do with digital models of that quality when they're found out."> He stood from the chair, much to Arnd's confusion. <"I will be making my demands for an investigation immediately, and hopefully we can weed out the conspirators before long. I thank you for your cooperation, Mister Stevens, and I wish you a good day."> And with that, he left, typing a message as he went.
Mark and Arnd sat in the wake of T'aro's leaving, each too stunned by the stiff awkwardness to move or speak. Slowly, as the quiet seconds wore on, Arnd's scowl deepened in the face of the being that seemed preternaturally adept at attracting trouble for both him and those around him. Abruptly, she stood up and made for the door, knowing that staying for much longer would lead to nothing good.
"Arnd." said Mark as the woman in question reached the door.
She paused, entertaining the thought of finally making her feelings known even beyond the kind explanation she gave to the human days prior. But, with what respect she had for the dynamic they shared, and her own want for peace, she remained silent. Still, she remained to listen.
Mark understood immediately. "I'm sorry for dragging you into all of this; I wish our plan worked out."
<"So do I."> Arnd replied, and left. Moments later, Mark heard a frustrated yell from down the corridor.

Blood: Chapter 3. Verse 2.
And from the prisons dug from the earth arose Wey'sai, haggard and weary.
He stood tall before the blades of judgement, smiling peacefully despite his torment.
The lawman asked him, his tongue thick with lies: <"Why do you smile in the reflection of your doom, blasphemer?">
Wey'sai replied: <"Your judgement is not my doom, but salvation for all.">
It was with those words that Wey'sai's head was hewn from his neck, and it crashed to the ground with peace on its face.
The line was slow and long, stretching well into the mess hall as most all prisoners waited for their turn to contact the outside world. As a correctional facility, it wouldn't do for Holy Krek'ka Correctional Facility to deny its wards the option of bi-weekly access to the world at large for good behaviour, even if limited by a brief video call. Friends and families broken by an individual's choices and the subsequent consequences were given the chance to reconnect and heal together; convicts were given the motivation to examine and better themselves for the sake of themselves and their loved ones; and rarely, ever so rarely, people were given the chance to find their faith, and a new path in life.
Ledrn finally passed into the call room; closed off and soundproofed chambers - each monitored appropriately - lined the outer walls, the door to each occupied by a prisoner waiting their turn. Before long, Ledrn took his place by a door, and waited under the watchful eye of armed guard and increasingly impatient prisoner alike. Finally, the chamber Ledrn stood by was vacated, the convict in question wiping his eyes as he left.
The chamber was simple: a table, a chair, and a large touchscreen with a dial pad ready on the display. Ledrn sat down, already knowing who he was going to contact, and input the appropriate number.

The central hall of the Greater Kurj'al Kerc-Wey'sai Temple was quiet and dark, bereft of all occupants but one: an old soul dressed in the same robes she had donned for decades, sprinkling consecrated herbs and offering prayer over the smouldering remains of a raised bonfire whose ashes lay surrounding a rough hewn central stone column reaching to the artistically carved ceiling. Pews were arranged in concentric circles stretching to the far walls, facing the central column. The walls were adorned by statues of saints, prophets, and history makers of Kerc-Wey'sai's past, each with a pair of coloured flames in their chests dimly lighting the chamber; yellow in their right, caged by ribs of metal, representative of the blood that tied them to the mortal plane; and a brilliant green in the left, free of any constraints, signifying the ascended spirits that guided the faithful in times of crisis. Her wrist-pad rang, a notification telling her that her office's computer has received an incoming call. She quickly said the appropriate prayer, set down the herbs, and went to answer it.
Her office chair creaked as she sat, surrounded by ceremonial scrolls and bookshelves filled with ledgers pertaining to the temple's administration. The message window sat visible in the corner of her screen, telling her that the message was from Holy Krek'ka orbiting the planet. Curious, but with the demeanour befitting her position, she answered.
And upon her screen, sat calmly with arms on the table in front of him, was Ledrn.
<"Blooded Daughter Quaye't, it has been too long."> he said calmly.
Quaye't stared in shock. <"L-Ledrn! Why are you in prison? And what happened to your hand?!"> she asked, staring at the stump onscreen. Beside it, Ledrn's remaining hand was twitching slowly, making Quaye't no shortage of nervous.
<"I... was too eager to protect the crew I was assigned to. But that's not important; how have things been since I last visited the temple?">
<"Uh-"> Quaye't began, flustered at Ledrn's nonchalance. <"Fine enough. We've hosted some charity events; had some slight remodeling done to the temple; and the High Son has recently ordained a young faithful into the order, so we're hopeful on that front.">
<"Ah. It's good to hear that you and the order have been well. But now that you mention charity events, I can't help but remember that you have an upcoming event for the Eve of Star's Exodus, correct?">
<"Yes, we do. Why?">
<"I'm not sure if you're aware, but it's about election season."> Of course, the woman's face conveyed confusion at this statement. Ledrn continued, unconcerned. <"Knowing this, hopeful politicians looking to boost their ratings wouldn't mind pitching in for the sake of good PR, and I think that their patronage would draw quite a few eyes your way.">
<"I see. I've not thought of that before, I'll have to consider that. But... why are you worried about something as comparatively mundane as this when you're in prison?!">
<"Because the order has done immense good. Good by the community, and good by me. This right here is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on that good. And besides, there's not much I can do here but be on my best behaviour and hope for a reduced sentence."> A light and alarm then blared in Ledrn's room; his time was up. His twitching in his remaining hand became immediately more severe, sparking concern in Quaye't, but Ledrn himself seemed unfazed, simply keeping his gaze locked to the screen. <"Well, that's my time. I wish you all the best, and please, be sure to forward this to Elder Son Duvem.">
And in that moment, the feed cut. Quaye't sat staring blankly at the screen, worried as to the events leading to Ledrn's incarceration. She concluded though, that there was little use in sitting by and fretting about that when not only did she still have her afternoon duties to perform, but that she would be doing more for him in the moment by honouring his request and informing Elder Son Duvem. As such, she did just that, and then left to pick up where she left off.

The sun dipped below Ta'X'rtana's skyline, and it was time for Quaye't to hang up her robes for the day and return to the altogether different comfort of her home. She muttered one final prayer at the foot of the bonfire as the night's temple keepers filtered in, and slung up her bag, ready to leave. As she reached halfway to the temple's entrance, however, she was interrupted by the clapping of a coarse palm on her shoulder.
Spinning on her toes, Quaye't came face to face with the balding, time-weary visage of Duvem. He stood, bent by age and injury but steady with the aid of a cane, looking up to his junior with urgency in his eyes. <"With me a moment, child."> he said, and led her over to an empty pew.
There, he pulled out his device, a recording of the video call on screen. <"When you sent me this video, I was glad to know that the young man was safe, despite how clearly disastrous his most recent assignment was."> —He shook, and lovingly brushed the back of his hand— <"As I watched though, I noticed something. So I rewatched it, and I saw this."> He then played the video, letting it run for a while. <"Can you see it?"> he asked, a twinge frantic.
<"See what?">
<"The hand, child! The hand!"> he exclaimed, pointing a wrinkled finger at the twitching appendage on screen.
<"I noticed that. Whatever took the other must have given him a nervous tic or something."> she conjectured with pity.
<"It's no tic, child; it's all ordered."> he stated. Quaye't did naught but stare confusedly. Duvem continued, annoyed but unsurprised. <"It's all faint, very faint. He doesn't want the guards to see it."> When Quaye't continued to visibly express her confusion, Duvem sighed and rewound the video. Then, following along with Ledrn and performing the motions as they were meant to, he began.
A rubbing of the thumb and forefinger together, with a bent ring finger, a traditional prayer gesture said to ward against evil. A balled and rotating hand, mimicking a spinning planet. Clawed, and tightening its grip. A cupped hand, palm down, the thumb laying parallel to the ground. <"Unholy Foreign Enemy in Home base."> Extended thumb and pinky in the shape of an ancient communicator. Then, upturned fingers rolling up and down, like an approaching army. <"Call Reinforcements.">
It was this demonstration that made everything click in Quaye't's mind. <"Military signals.">
<"Exactly. And I'd bet you my good eye that it has something to do with whatever took his hand."> He scratched one of his remaining teeth in thought. <"Did he tell you anything about his assignment before he left?">
Quaye't combed her memory for anything of note. <"I think he mentioned something a week before he left: something about stars...">
Duvem's scratching intensified as vague yet recent memories began to clarify in his mind. <"Stars... stars... star... hunter? Star, Chaser."> Frantically, he put the term into a Flow search. Links to article after article appeared on the screen, each one mentioning the vessel, its crew, and their monumental journey. Eventually, the search led them to a recent police report, aired on the Ta'X'rtana News network.
An officer stood at a podium before a crowd of the press. <"As for the matter of the X'rtan Freight employee, we have video confirmation of what appears to be an attempted mutiny that the Star Chaser's captain immediately put to a stop.">
What sounded to be a middle-aged man shouted from the crowd of press. <"Sir, have you determined a motive for this betrayal?">
<"From what we have gathered, the man in question revolted in response to a so-called 'alien' on board the ship. After talking to officers on-site, we have determined that this 'alien' in question is nothing more than an advanced animatronic for a movie being shot on Men-te."> At his words, body cam video of the Star Chaser's cargo bay filled the screen. A short, pale, hairless biped stood its ground, looking away from the camera, at the officer's face.
The pair looked at their findings in horrified realization. Quaye't was the first to regain composure. <"The unholy, foreign enemy.">
<"And the warped thralls deathly pale shall splinter the world at the Adversary's will.
And so shall the world return to fire as it was forged, and the sins of the living light doom's blade ablaze."> recited Duvem in abject terror. <"Lords protect us... even looking at it gives me chills, knowing what I do now. To think, my first assumption was that one of those X'olandi on the crew was responsible.">
In the face of a revelation as world-shattering as the one she just experienced, Quaye't was more than willing to overlook her elder's unsavoury assumption. <"But what about the reinf- the faithful! This clearly isn't something the law is going to help with, so it falls to us! We'll have to be careful though; if this is something the law shouldn't know, then we will have to be discreet in informing our followers.">
<"Yes. If that thing is here, then it's allowed to be by the law. If that's going to change, we're going to need a mass petition and aid from... politicians. Ledrn, you clever grub, you thought of everything!"> He spoke with equal parts fear and relief. He gripped his cane with fervor and rose from his seat, caring little that his back objected to this display of almost youthful vigor. Both he and Quaye't made for the main office and the night's acting Blooded Child, the end of their daily tenures be damned; a holy war was brewing, and they must be ready.
