2024.05.16 19:57 SingingWhileSleeping Summer’s coming—time to start dreaming of traveling…
| …and maybe making another of these Around The World quilts (pattern by Whole Circle Studio). This was such a fun wedding gift to make for a couple who travels a lot! Didn’t vary the color options too far from the pattern because I found them perfect from the start—and had most of the colors needed already in my stash. Gotta love a great FPP pattern. Also gotta love a quilt that was fun to quilt too! submitted by SingingWhileSleeping to quilting [link] [comments] |

2024.05.16 18:43 The-Unseen-1 The awakening of the heart
Part 16: The awakening of the heart .
.
As the
Mysterious Stranger and the
Seeker leave the old castle behind, they continue on the snow-covered path. A path appears on the right side, following parallel to their own. The two paths merge into one, which leads towards a volcano. As they progress, another parallel path from the left side merges as well with the current one.
.
In the distance, the
Seeker spots a building, where the path tilts uphill. A sign points at a crossroad. An intersection, between realms. The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road.
Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name:
'The Red Ditch Inn' .
.
“Wanna get something to drink,” asks the
Stranger the
Seeker.
“Sure, why not,” accepts the
Seeker.
.
.
Before he opens the door knob, the
Stranger hesitates and speaks to the
Seeker:
“This is the bar, where the timelines of our souls meet up. This is the crossing of our life-paths, the intersection of fate. Be prepared, for what happens next.”
The
Seeker and the
Stranger walk into the building. As they open the door, they are started by the loud conversations. The inn is full. Many tables with different animals of all species.
.
.
The table in the center of the bar, has a label saying:
'Spirituality' Around that table sit all kinds of different birds and animals. Pigeons, squirrels, Reptiles, cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, crows, mice, sloths. They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives.
.
.
There was a table, which said:
'astralprojection'. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes.
.
.
Next to it, is a table with a label saying:
'Enlightenment' There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison:
“BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.” .
.
There is another table, called:
'Awakened' There sit a caterpillar, a spider, a scorpion and an eagle.
“You have an Ego,” shouts the caterpillar at the spider, pointing his finger.
“No, you have an Ego,” shouts the spider back at the caterpillar.
“You both have an Ego,” accuses the scorpion both the caterpillar and the spider.
“Hey,” shouts the bird. “I am the eagle here!”
.
.
Next to it, is the table of
'nonduality'. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here.
.
.
On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says
'Soulnexus'. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs:
“I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!” .
.
One table next to it is called
'starseeds'. The people sitting there do not look like animals, but like strange aliens. Some small and green beings, others big and gray, some with fur, some with scales, some humanoid. They were mostly talking about the past, exchanging some old memories. Among them is a chicken, who wears an alien costume.
.
As one of the Grey beings stands up to go to the toilet, the chicken whispers to the others:
“Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.”
The other beings around the table start mumbling.
.
.
There is one more table called
'psychonauts'. The
Stranger walks towards their table.
“Jo, wazzup Shawty,” greets the
Stranger an old friend at the psychonaut-table, with a fist bump. “Long time no see.”
.
“Whoa, it's YOU,” responds the Tiger at the table, with red eyes, smoking his bong. “Last time I've seen you, I was like in DMT realm.”
.
“Is Burt anywhere around?” asks the
Stranger.
.
.
“He is sitting there in the corner,” responds Shawty. The tiger points at a traumatized racoon sitting in the dark corner.
“I have seen too much,” mumbles the
Burt the Racoon with eyes wide open, like a scratched record.
“I have traveled too far... I have seen, what lies within the emptiness. Never again... I will never do shrooms again...”
.
.
Suddenly the waiter taps the racoons shoulder, ripping him out of his thought loop.
“Sir... Do you wanna order anything?”
.
“Do you have McKennaii?”
“Yes,” responds the waiter.
“Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon.
.
.
The
Seeker has a sudden thought and looks at the
Stranger.
“What does the ' slash' on the tables, stand for?”
.
“I don't know...,” shrugs the
Stranger. “ It's probably to reserve the table at this inn.”
.
.
.
The
Stranger looks at all the tables, they are all talking and talking. Some are playing poker, others are playing dart, some drunks fight each other. Others talk about their identity or their favorite dogma. Some are showing off, how enlightened they are.
As they stand at the crossroads, they can either go Westwards, Eastwards and Northwards. Many have taken the western route, many have went eastwards, but they always ended back at the 'Red Ditch Inn' again.
The newbies, were unsure, whether to go west or east. The experienced ones, knew it doesn't make a difference, they would end up at the bar again anyway. Some were stuck in the bar since many decades, they had given up hope to ever find a way out. But few of them ever dared to walk northwards.
The
Stranger sighs, as he looks around. His eyes flame up, he inhales deeply and climbs on a chair. With a raised voice he speaks:
.
.
.
.
“
When did we lose our heart? We lost our heart collectively.
Did we lose it, when we were still cavemen? When we had to survive the cold winters of the ice age? When we hunted down the last Homo Neanderthalensis? Or later on, when the first tribes waged war against each other? Did we lose our heart, when we enslaved each other? Did we lose our hearts, when we dropped atom bombs, or when we caused our first mass extinctions...The crimes, that Humans do in wars... All of us carry the sins of our forefathers on our shoulders.
.
.
We lost our hearts individually.
For the person it starts pretty early in their childhood. We lose our trust, when we are lied to. Almost everyone tastes the pain of Betrayal at least once in life. We are deeply wounded from childhood on. We learn early on, that humans hurt us and thus we become suspicious of humans. We learn not to trust each other. Because we are afraid of being hurt again. And so we close off our heart to protect it.
.
.
What is the heart?
I am not talking about the physical organ. I talk about this part in your 'soul', if I may call it that. It's like the core of our 'soul', of our 'astral body'. The centre of our 'energy' or chakras. We are afraid to open it, because it's very vulnerable. That's why we protect it. We are afraid to open it, because we don't trust each other.
But unless your heart is open, you can never experience unconditional love. Its flame must be activated.
The heart is your connection to everything. The heart is what connects you to 'source', if that's the word, you'd like to use. The heart is from where our love flows.
We have cut off the connection and became separated from the ALL. We made love conditional. We split hating from loving, dislike from like and created duality. We became attached. We let ourselves be corrupted by the Ego.
Now that we have closed the heart, what have we done to the world?
.
.
We turned the world into a place, that almost no one likes. We created a society, that keeps us in narrow boxes. We made the world a lonely place, for everyone to be in. Even in groups, we often feel lonely. We allowed money to rule over us. We allowed ideologies to split us and dogmas to control us.
We have so many different issues, that we just can't seem to overcome. Climate change. Wars. Corrupt politicians. Poverty. Starvation. Meaninglessness. Nihilism.
Where should we start with all that mess?
.
.
With ourselves. That is the place, where the transformation needs to start. We need to evolve.
One person at a time. Only then, can the collective transform as well.
We need to open the mind and the heart. To see and to feel. To be aware and to love. We need to find harmony within ourselves. End the inner conflict and find peace within.
Find your own truest path.
Let go of any limiting beliefs. Let go of any attachments. Forgive whoever needs forgiveness and apologize to clear your regrets. Find Love.
Find your light within. See your light in all people. Love your enemies.
Recognize the Ego, be aware of what makes it grow. Become aware of any negative thought patterns. Be disciplined.
Clear your own shadows. Face your Trauma. Heal your inner child.
Get free from all bodily addictions. Be free of fear. Be free of suffering.
See the beauty of all things. Find joy in every moment.
Surrender yourself. Follow the heart. Be proud and courageous. Accept your life and your story. Embrace your story, without being attached to it.
Find your purpose. End the Seeking.
Be your authentic Self. Express Love through your character.
Become Love.
.
.
.
This is a possible path. And I just gave you the map. It can be walked. It was walked before. But it is a path into unknown territory. Only the bravest of you can walk this path. It's not for the faintest of heart.
You see, you all either follow the path of the left and go westwards or you follow the path on the right and go eastwards... But no matter how far you go, you'll always end up at the crossroads again. You never make any real progress.
What if there is another path? What if there's another way? What if I say,
'let us go north?!'”
.
.
.
Some of the crowd are in shock. Some are laughing. Others are mumbling.
“You can't walk north,” says a crow from the projectors. “It's impossible.”
“Everyone knows, that the northern road is a dead-end,” says an awakened Caterpillar. “It's a waste of time going up there. You can't go further, than the volcano.”
A psychonaut horse laughs. “That will be fun. Can't wait to see their disappointed faces, when they walk all the way back down.”
.
.
.
.
.
The
Stranger continues undeterred:
.
“
Why are you walking the spiritual path? You felt called to do it, didn't you? You felt something within you. Something made click. You understood, that there is a deeper truth, that you must find. There was this deep longing within you. So you started walking.
What were the first things, that you were seeking?
You were seeking answers.
What were your first questions? You were asking, 'What is my purpose?' You were asking 'Why am I here'?
And you have searched in so many places. But no matter which answer you got, you were never fully satisfied. Because it wasn't your answer. Because it was someone else's answer.
So you stopped seeking. Either you were content with some unfulfilling answers or you just simply gave up. When did you stop finding your own answers?
Dogma or tradition give us easy answers. When we are attached to them, when we build an identity around them, we become unable to find our own answers. But you can't end Seeking with someone elses answers. Only when you have claimed the answer for yourself, can the Seeker transform into something different. Into something new.
Just ending the Seeker, like cutting off a limb, won't do it. The Seeker needs to find their answer to the question 'What is my purpose?' Not one, they read from textbooks. Not an answer, that someone else can give them. When ONE has found their own unique purpose in life, then instead of 'seeking', there is only 'expressing'.”
.
.
.
“I see that you are advanced,” speaks an enlightened owl. “However you are blinded by idealism. When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.”
.
“My friend,” says the
Stranger. “I have not only stared into the abyss, I went to hell and back again to find my answer.”
.
.
.
Everyone falls silent, the
Stranger continues:
“It was always here on earth. Heaven. It was always within us. Take a look around you. There is beauty in all things. If you search for it, you can find joy in every moment. Look for love in the world and you shall find love everywhere. Meet Life with gratitude and wonder. Face your experience, like an adventurer faces his challenge. Express unconditional love through your very being. Because this is how we heal Humanities greatest wound: The scar of nihilism.
It has all become so meaningless to us, hasn't it?
Memorizing knowledge at school or college, that you'll never need in real life. This feeling of being stuck in life. Day to day, going to a dead-end job for minimum wage. Living an unfulfilled life. The shattering of broken dreams. The tears of our suffering.
You know, why everything has become so meaningless?
We let our hearts get cold. After falling, we stopped getting back up again. We stopped facing our challenges.
You see, after every defeat, Humanity always got back up again. No matter how tough the challenge may seemed, Humanity never gave up.
We have forgotten, who we are.
All of us are Humanity. You, Me, everyone. We are all humanity. You, the individual human are HUMANITY. You are the Rest of mankind. Because we are all the same in our essence. When you open your heart, then this is your name:
'HUMANITY' Because you see yourself in every other human. This is the name of the divine spark that sits within all of us. It is the fire, that burns in our eyes. This is Humanity: An archetype of victory and an idea of unity.
Let me ask you a very direct question. If we all came together to do our part, do you think that we could actually clean up the mess we have created? Do you think we have a chance of not only to survive but even to evolve as a species? And perhaps write even greater stories, than ever before?”
.
.
.
.
.
The entire crowd is silent. Most of them avoid eye contact. People start mumbling.
Then the crowd slowly gets louder again and the conversations on each table, continue as if nothing ever happened.
As the
Stranger steps down from the chair, a monkey gets up from one of the tables, points his finger and screams:
“Look guys, this dude has ketchup on his outfit.”
.
.
While the crowd laughs at him, the
Stranger goes to the bar and orders two beer. While he waits, he rubs off the ketchup stain from his clothes with his fingernails.
People are looking at him and the
Seeker. The
Seeker can't bear standing next to the
Stranger and leaves the tavern. The
Stranger pays for two beers. 140 Pesos. He then follows the
Seeker outside.
.
.
“Wanna go already?” asks the
Stranger while sipping from his beer.
“Those guys hate you now,” sighs the
Seeker.
“Who cares?” shrugs the
Stranger, while gulping down the beer in a single go.
.
.
.
A couple of animals exit the bar. All the animals, that had no place to fit in. All the animals that didn't belong. A rabbit, a cat, a goldfish, a squirrel, a bear, a fox, a goat, a pigeon, an eagle, a chicken in an alien costume and a dog.
.
“I will also follow my destiny,” speaks the
eagle with determination. His heart is also activated.
.
.
“Alright,” says a
bear with burning eyes. “Let's try going north... Perhaps this is how we'll finally get to Axis Mundi.”
.
“Going north... that sounds fun,” says the smiling
fox. “Let's see how far, we'll come.”
.
“We are all gonna die anyway,” sighs the pessimistic
goat.
.
“I never tried going north before,” contemplates the curious
pigeon.
.
“10 bucks, that I am first at the top of the volcano,” bets the
black cat, while looking at her claws.
.
“Deal,” agrees the
dog, while hunting his own tail.
.
The
rabbit thinks about the taste of carrots. She is hungry.
.
The
squirrel is simply happy and excited for the new adventure. She can't stop dancing.
.
The
goldfish has no idea, what he's actually doing. He just rolls around in a plastic bag.
“I... I will also walk my path,” speaks up the brave
chicken in an alien costume. For the first time, the
chickens eyes start burning.
.
.
.
Together, the new group of friends are traveling the northern road. Towards the volcano. As the sunset illuminates their backs, the animals start singing a new song. A song of excitement, of wonder and of bravery. A song, that goes something like:
“We have found a way.” .

“Those guys hate you now,” sighs the
Seeker.
“Who cares?” shrugs the
Stranger, while gulping down the beer in a single go.
.
.

chicken in an alien costume. For the first time, the

What if I say, 'let us go north?!'” . . . Some of the crowd are in shock. Some are laughing. Others are mumbling. “You can't walk north,” says a crow from the projectors. “It's impossible.” “Everyone knows, that the northern road is a dead-end,” says an awakened Caterpillar. “It's a waste of time going up there. You can't go further, than the volcano.” https://preview.redd.it/xos6zkewft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c34f29fe33c8e1687f58d780097aa96018acdf2 A psychonaut horse laughs. “That will be fun. Can't wait to see their disappointed faces, when they walk all the way back down.” . . . . . The Stranger continues undeterred: . “ Why are you walking the spiritual path? When ONE has found their own unique purpose in life, then instead of 'seeking', there is only 'expressing'.” . . . “I see that you are advanced,” speaks an enlightened owl. “However you are blinded by idealism. When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.” https://preview.redd.it/dwfw2exxft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4a01cae5bb2c1d82c68ecbe3154896f35642262 “My friend,” says the Stranger. “I have not only stared into the abyss, I went to hell and back again to find my answer.” . . . Everyone falls silent, the Stranger continues: “It was always here on earth. When you open your heart, then this is your name: 'HUMANITY' Because you see yourself in every other human. And perhaps write even greater stories, than ever before?” . . . . . The entire crowd is silent. Most of them avoid eye contact. People start mumbling. Then the crowd slowly gets louder again and the conversations on each table, continue as if nothing ever happened. As the Stranger steps down from the chair, a monkey gets up from one of the tables, points his finger and screams: “Look guys, this dude has ketchup on his outfit.” . . While the crowd laughs at him, the Stranger goes to the bar and orders two beer. While he waits, he rubs off the ketchup stain from his clothes with his fingernails. People are looking at him and the Seeker. The Seeker can't bear standing next to the Stranger and leaves the tavern. The Stranger pays for two beers. 140 Pesos. He then follows the Seeker outside. https://preview.redd.it/j2e9vnjzft0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ecea680fc0e94cb3124a13ac41477df1d39b2197 “Wanna go already?” asks the Stranger while sipping from his beer. “Those guys hate you now,” sighs the Seeker. “Who cares?” shrugs the Stranger, while gulping down the beer in a single go. . . . A couple of animals exit the bar. All the animals, that had no place to fit in. All the animals that didn't belong. A rabbit, a cat, a goldfish, a squirrel, a bear, a fox, a goat, a pigeon, an eagle, a chicken in an alien costume and a dog. . “I will also follow my destiny,” speaks the eagle with determination. | Walking the Path together (Part 16) https://preview.redd.it/36m5xcr8et0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d97005daa7716d0e65ced4d55743902fe84023d5 Part 16: The awakening of the heart . . As the Mysterious Stranger and the Seeker leave the old castle behind, they continue on the snow-covered path. A path appears on the right side, following parallel to their own. The two paths merge into one, which leads towards a volcano. As they progress, another parallel path from the left side merges as well with the current one. . In the distance, the Seeker spots a building, where the path tilts uphill. A sign points at a crossroad. An intersection, between realms. The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road. https://preview.redd.it/ae3bpd7aet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7383de2130451de3bc882a01237679c2e6b3ca8 Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name: 'The Red Ditch Inn' https://preview.redd.it/utwx6sobet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=afa48df63def6221a828aedec030794d433df4cd . . “Wanna get something to drink,” asks the Stranger the Seeker. “Sure, why not,” accepts the Seeker. . . Before he opens the door knob, the Stranger hesitates and speaks to the Seeker: “This is the bar, where the timelines of our souls meet up. This is the crossing of our life-paths, the intersection of fate. Be prepared, for what happens next.” The Seeker and the Stranger walk into the building. As they open the door, they are started by the loud conversations. The inn is full. Many tables with different animals of all species. . . The table in the center of the bar, has a label saying: '' Around that table sit all kinds of different birds and animals. Pigeons, squirrels, Reptiles, cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, crows, mice, sloths. They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives. https://preview.redd.it/zmvove7det0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dab1fd03ee1b1616365dc794c714677f86e05ff . . There was a table, which said: 'astralprojection'. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes. https://preview.redd.it/wtt9eroeet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a473392f1c62cb54093c895fd5bbab87c7753a5 . . Next to it, is a table with a label saying: '' There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison: “BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.” https://preview.redd.it/dnf8l2oget0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c032c1525ace3626dae0f01ad7655e1a1766768 . . There is another table, called: '' There sit a caterpillar, a spider, a scorpion and an eagle. “I am the eagle here!” https://preview.redd.it/6hyqvluiet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e06ec88af5a0cca9adbea00e0e78fe02865d0195 . . Next to it, is the table of ''. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here. https://preview.redd.it/dmbnmtnjet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60cd7cb8c584b7dc02ee186f83b06374ac2fae34 . . On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says 'Soulnexus'. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs: “I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!” https://preview.redd.it/u3p6dn5let0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=174ae07fb9867589d8e7dbba3703f0bf10ab2876 . . One table next to it is called ''. The people sitting there do not look like animals, but like strange aliens. Some small and green beings, others big and gray, some with fur, some with scales, some humanoid. They were mostly talking about the past, exchanging some old memories. Among them is a chicken, who wears an alien costume. . As one of the Grey beings stands up to go to the toilet, the chicken whispers to the others: “Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.” https://preview.redd.it/7qsogjimet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=227c3cefc81563bc663f33be2f2f863f6b5f2823 The other beings around the table start mumbling. https://preview.redd.it/s8u7nxnnet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7941053bac2ec5769e94771a008d5de425c947c1 . . There is one more table called ''. The Stranger walks towards their table. “Jo, wazzup Shawty,” greets the Stranger an old friend at the psychonaut-table, with a fist bump. “Long time no see.” . “Whoa, it's YOU,” responds the Tiger at the table, with red eyes, smoking his bong. “Last time I've seen you, I was like in DMT realm.” . “Is Burt anywhere around?” asks the Stranger. . . “He is sitting there in the corner,” responds Shawty. The tiger points at a traumatized racoon sitting in the dark corner. “I have seen too much,” mumbles the Burt the Racoon with eyes wide open, like a scratched record. “I have traveled too far... I have seen, what lies within the emptiness. Never again... I will never do shrooms again...” . . Suddenly the waiter taps the racoons shoulder, ripping him out of his thought loop. “Sir... Do you wanna order anything?” . “Do you have McKennaii?” “Yes,” responds the waiter. “Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon. https://preview.redd.it/cn0ri6kpet0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=653078bbe16a081d3c6f668c28ae78e62d9a4e62 . . The Seeker has a sudden thought and looks at the Stranger. “What does the ' slash' on the tables, stand for?” . “I don't know...,” shrugs the Stranger. “ It's probably to reserve the table at this inn.” . . . The Stranger looks at all the tables, they are all talking and talking. But few of them ever dared to walk northwards. https://preview.redd.it/2l9zdpiret0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d741000fa96374bee3e27ee27685d83826390e0 The Stranger sighs, as he looks around. His eyes flame up, he inhales deeply and climbs on a chair. With a raised voice he speaks: . . . . “ When did we lose our heart? Walking the Path together (Part 16)
https://preview.redd.it/xkks1c25dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16a8c2bf518cff73d42e5f3c1d27b6b1b8a60f1f Part 16: The awakening of the heart .
.
As the
Mysterious Stranger and the
Seeker leave the old castle behind, they continue on the snow-covered path.
The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road.
https://preview.redd.it/oqc06uf6dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cbaf67402c9e8a329d687c02cf702e80e04efecf Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name:
'The Red Ditch Inn' https://preview.redd.it/6whs3tj7dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=820ac22a874776c86e754d0382bde5f5735ccaec .
.
“Wanna get something to drink,” asks the
Stranger the
Seeker.
“Sure, why not,” accepts the
Seeker.
.
.
Before he opens the door knob, the
Stranger hesitates and speaks to the
Seeker:
“This is the bar, where the timelines of our souls meet up. This is the crossing of our life-paths, the intersection of fate. Be prepared, for what happens next.”
The
Seeker and the
Stranger walk into the building. As they open the door, they are started by the loud conversations. The inn is full. Many tables with different animals of all species.
.
.
The table in the center of the bar, has a label saying:
'' Around that table sit all kinds of different birds and animals. Pigeons, squirrels, Reptiles, cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, crows, mice, sloths. They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives.
https://preview.redd.it/1gczavj8dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a043fd5f0a8e19b6741d4142e627a9ff04c61a40 .
.
There was a table, which said:
''. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes.
https://preview.redd.it/cs1bnyw9dt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d0dc23c517d3228eb12105a714957e7e640ecdb5 .
.
Next to it, is a table with a label saying:
'' There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison:
“BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.” https://preview.redd.it/gpm5171cdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51e94aa82f38d74ca688e52ac6b6353a9bf0a20f .
.
There is another table, called:
'' There sit a caterpillar, a spider, a scorpion and an eagle.
“I am the eagle here!”
https://preview.redd.it/t6ih4otddt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f43ad75ac85304530493f99c0040fcfca8e4e828 .
.
Next to it, is the table of
''. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here.
https://preview.redd.it/02lskmefdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bb62a9d0282b31fac7592ed1f5318a75a59b05a .
.
On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says
''. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs:
“I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!” https://preview.redd.it/yeejn1zgdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf306e303a289eef68cdcd5c89a14d65dbe7124f .
.
One table next to it is called
“Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.”
https://preview.redd.it/plzy2mdidt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23a73f0d3635320c724975ff37a2dd717b219902 The other beings around the table start mumbling.
https://preview.redd.it/h74bdlxjdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31c40fdefcabe13b0196d4be804aa33f2d75403f .
.
There is one more table called
''. The
Stranger walks towards their table.
“Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon.
https://preview.redd.it/7kb6gugmdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3133e498511f679e6c66914a1e53c925fdd2b8e4 .
.
The
Seeker has a sudden thought and looks at the
But few of them ever dared to walk northwards.
https://preview.redd.it/yci1amwndt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fefe9cb65d9069f01463512c3bc70d42fd4ff66 The
Stranger sighs, as he looks around.
You can't go further, than the volcano.”
https://preview.redd.it/qxebl22qdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af079c143695042c772c4b0e11f8b191a921805d A psychonaut horse laughs.
When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.”
https://preview.redd.it/6p2spbhrdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7eb32e311ddb89ca6cdf07c1b2dd9f0bc30a466 “My friend,” says the
140 Pesos. He then follows the
Seeker outside.
https://preview.redd.it/dnbnlkbtdt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7fec72a92d808274036204143603af3c8ade16eb “Wanna go already?” asks the
Stranger while sipping from his beer.

“Alright,” says a
bear with burning eyes. “Let's try going north... Perhaps this is how we'll finally get to Axis Mundi.”
.
“Going north... that sounds fun,” says the smiling
fox. “Let's see how far, we'll come.”

He just rolls around in a plastic bag.

chicken in an alien costume. For the first time, the
chickens eyes start burning.
.
.

Together, the new group of friends are traveling the northern road. Towards the volcano. As the sunset illuminates their backs, the animals start singing a new song. A song of excitement, of wonder and of bravery. A song, that goes something like:

When ONE has found their own unique purpose in life, then instead of 'seeking', there is only 'expressing'.” . . . “I see that you are advanced,” speaks an enlightened owl. “However you are blinded by idealism. When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.” https://preview.redd.it/j6nigg2nct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a987f7a64e3a44f599ff19b5e2cd88d7de0df23b “My friend,” says the Stranger. “I have not only stared into the abyss, I went to hell and back again to find my answer.” . . . Everyone falls silent, the Stranger continues: “It was always here on earth. When you open your heart, then this is your name: 'HUMANITY' Because you see yourself in every other human. 140 Pesos. He then follows the Seeker outside. https://preview.redd.it/ca6otqooct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=83ae7ba6ebc8def4ed3b1e1eed6f3e8f38fbfc62 “Wanna go already?” asks the Stranger while sipping from his beer. His heart is also activated. . https://preview.redd.it/24fobxgqct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30b86f8381e8a6d448a1aa596814663e96c5b391 . “Alright,” says a bear with burning eyes. “Let's try going north... Perhaps this is how we'll finally get to Axis Mundi.” . “Going north... that sounds fun,” says the smiling fox. “Let's see how far, we'll come.” https://preview.redd.it/39uth9trct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=013d614d86d060158edb0121a84fa325fee2845d . “We are all gonna die anyway,” sighs the pessimistic goat. . “I never tried going north before,” contemplates the curious pigeon. . “10 bucks, that I am first at the top of the volcano,” bets the black cat, while looking at her claws. . “Deal,” agrees the dog, while hunting his own tail. . The rabbit thinks about the taste of carrots. She is hungry. . The squirrel is simply happy and excited for the new adventure. She can't stop dancing. . The goldfish has no idea, what he's actually doing. He just rolls around in a plastic bag. https://preview.redd.it/8ns40optct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8aac5c5252f80b175ff40436a91482f08b0bdcf7 “I... I will also walk my path,” speaks up the brave chicken in an alien costume. For the first time, the chickens eyes start burning. . . . Together, the new group of friends are traveling the northern road. Towards the volcano. As the sunset illuminates their backs, the animals start singing a new song. A song of excitement, of wonder and of bravery. A song, that goes something like: “We have found a way.” https://preview.redd.it/dcssxq5vct0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=16e105c5fd7bc2b114d13b1797dfaa3f656168d6 . . . Walking the Path together (Part 16)

.
As the
Mysterious Stranger and the
Seeker leave the old castle behind, they continue on the snow-covered path.
The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road.
https://preview.redd.it/y91yf0hnat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f6aa56566d958d949b60ffc9a25d7acf648ae88 Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name:
'The Red Ditch Inn' https://preview.redd.it/juftmsbpat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce590d32986f652979736d6e4a0f7a718953d8b0 .
They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives.
https://preview.redd.it/51hygx7rat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7e21f854aa849d0e1647c73551cf69886802857 .
.
There was a table, which said:
''. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes.
https://preview.redd.it/jhdust7tat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6c6edefe29376b1664a6e5a1496f50cba530e53 Next to it, is a table with a label saying:
'' There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison:
“BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.” https://preview.redd.it/k4mn0ouuat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e6f44ee5f2604a334a3db3beda9b470510f2072 .
.
There is another table, called:
'' There sit a caterpillar, a spider, a scorpion and an eagle.
“I am the eagle here!”
https://preview.redd.it/qssf2ykwat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=419021543f18a7ea9479a3baed8dab11591b4800 .
.
Next to it, is the table of
'nonduality'. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here.
https://preview.redd.it/wroiy1fyat0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac3c6674cd8f4e6417659dd75428b2288d49ceab .
.
On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says
'Soulnexus'. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs:
“I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!” https://preview.redd.it/h0us9l00bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=849553e6990e3e929cb4a9a260dff7f5eeec2822 .
.
One table next to it is called
“Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.”
https://preview.redd.it/rm7q76p1bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ecfe01dab9efac7c5e72bfbfe33bb8cc7767af7 The other beings around the table start mumbling.
https://preview.redd.it/yt1k1ye3bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=227247bb01d8a3e55609027f8ab174d6ae73d22a .
.
There is one more table called
''. The
Stranger walks towards their table.
“Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon.
https://preview.redd.it/0ietwc55bt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9743c7ce4a41d96bdd79eca2e3a94a25f39aeb8 .
.
The
Seeker has a sudden thought and looks at the

You can't go further, than the volcano.”

.
.
.
.
.
The
Stranger continues undeterred:
.
“
Why are you walking the spiritual path? You felt called to do it, didn't you? You felt something within you. Something made click. You understood, that there is a deeper truth, that you must find. There was this deep longing within you. So you started walking.

When you stare into the abyss long enough, the abyss will stare back at you.”
https://preview.redd.it/wzo56e2bbt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf49158aa39d115cfe22cd60a4b5c1502d11e246 “My friend,” says the

“Alright,” says a
bear with burning eyes. “Let's try going north... Perhaps this is how we'll finally get to Axis Mundi.”
.
“Going north... that sounds fun,” says the smiling
fox. “Let's see how far, we'll come.”

He just rolls around in a plastic bag.

chicken in an alien costume. For the first time, the
chickens eyes start burning.
.
.
.
Together, the new group of friends are traveling the northern road. Towards the volcano. As the sunset illuminates their backs, the animals start singing a new song. A song of excitement, of wonder and of bravery. A song, that goes something like:
“We have found a way.” https://preview.redd.it/kxv5lc2kbt0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7066bbeff6bd269542a87c52a66b953209fbd023 .

2024.05.16 17:58 The-Unseen-1 The awakening of the heart
| Walking the Path together (Part 16) https://preview.redd.it/u6wtaco55t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f5cb1d2af03896dc80a1cef190995ff5ea73d66 Part 16: The awakening of the heart . The crossroads, where all timelines meet up: Where the westward and the eastward paths meets the northern road. https://preview.redd.it/6mvg5my85t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f4819fab52baca96b2ae9dc79b5c1ccf9ea7dd9 Where the paths meet, stands a tavern. The lights are on. The chimney is smoking. A sign shows its name: 'The Red Ditch Inn' https://preview.redd.it/f9g0wmx95t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1648534743e52a83d24e137c6d88b57c24a89a1 . Many tables with different animals of all species. . . The table in the center of the bar, has a label saying: 'Spirituality' Around that table sit all kinds of different birds and animals. Pigeons, squirrels, Reptiles, cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, crows, mice, sloths. They are mostly talking about crystals and past lives. https://preview.redd.it/y8fnhq406t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c646cb09f82c0fccb5dbc52b0516ad04c3959bd . . There was a table, which said: 'astralprojection'. There sat an old bear, who carries many scars, wounded by countless battles, teaching young bear cups, who attentively listen to their elders. Some are making notes. https://preview.redd.it/u39auly16t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a12d3b6456683101a8c19b70ed5b533886db56e Next to it, is a table with a label saying: 'Enlightenment' There sit some parrots all repeating the same mantra in unison: “BEFORE ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER, AFTER ENLIGHTENMENT CHOP WOOD CARRY WATER.” https://preview.redd.it/446l8xo46t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9845893e91cb4f74ff0a7cd322d12fe5b90162d4 . . There is another table, called: 'Awakened' There sit a caterpillar, a spider, a scorpion and an eagle. “I am the eagle here!” https://preview.redd.it/h7lqop986t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1918922e7e405c0101c29dadd36921bc2aa8d9e . . Next to it, is the table of 'nonduality'. The chairs are completely empty. There is no one here. https://preview.redd.it/m6g30mv96t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62fc58adf8f16905982b6b082f352e62f0b9bd93 . . On the other side there is another table with many different birds and mammals, some more exotic animals from all around the world. The label says 'Soulnexus'. There is someone constantly screaming at the top of their lungs: “I AM A PROFFESIONAL PSYCHIC READER WITH 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!” https://preview.redd.it/ua8so87d6t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3934b0f88aeb2ed43206eb782083978beb83c93d . . One table next to it is called 'starseeds'. The people sitting there do not look like animals, but like strange aliens. Some small and green beings, others big and gray, some with fur, some with scales, some humanoid. They were mostly talking about the past, exchanging some old memories. Among them is a chicken, who wears an alien costume. . As one of the Grey beings stands up to go to the toilet, the chicken whispers to the others: “Psst guys, I think Fred may not be an actual Starseed.” https://preview.redd.it/yf5mxkin6t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5cd079ef9a9717d77077bc10fae0086c87ba446 The other beings around the table start mumbling. https://preview.redd.it/mpr2xh9o6t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f84d4bbe5d838ce742b7d76ca16986f07f61a19 . . There is one more table called 'psychonauts'. “Then I'll have 7 grams,” orders the racoon. https://preview.redd.it/cby20wa67t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5822fdf6571cb03e2137629ac88f258294c0d59f . But few of them ever dared to walk northwards. https://preview.redd.it/xnc7yukk7t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bf81669e821e6674aa1d5b0dc6f9484dcd63c03 The Stranger sighs, as he looks around. His eyes flame up, he inhales deeply and climbs on a chair. With a raised voice he speaks: . . . . “ When did we lose our heart? What if I say, 'let us go north?!'” . . . Some of the crowd are in shock. Some are laughing. Others are mumbling. “You can't walk north,” says a crow from the projectors. “It's impossible.” “Everyone knows, that the northern road is a dead-end,” says an awakened Caterpillar. “It's a waste of time going up there. You can't go further, than the volcano.” https://preview.redd.it/r40gfkx28t0d1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f2431635af381f0a9bee525d4e661ce6e45a0b9 A psychonaut horse laughs. “That will be fun. Can't wait to see their disappointed faces, when they walk all the way back down.” . . . . . The Stranger continues undeterred: . “ Why are you walking the spiritual path? My mind keeps going back to the symbolism of the
Two of Pentacles card, which came up in
a tarot reading I did for myself the other day. I had asked the cards how to get through the next nine days, with the two-year anniversary of a trauma hanging over me - the trauma being that someone I had loved and trusted for years broke my trust and turned out to be just a compulsive womanizer, a pathological liar, a sick and emotionally abusive covert narcissist.
The way I see the cards working is that they can’t tell a person anything the person doesn’t already know - but our subconscious and unconscious minds know a lot that doesn’t rise to the level of our surface consciousness. The imagery and symbolism of the tarot cards gives the mind a puzzle of trying to interpret how a given set of cards drawn and placed into a meaningful pattern relates to the question they ask. So it prompts a meditation that can help bring the knowledge of one’s intuition and instincts and subconscious up to the forefront of consciousness. It’s a very powerful tool even if you don’t believe in serendipity and grace, but in my experience, there’s a lot of serendipity and grace at work too behind the seeming randomness of the cards.
Anyway, the Two of Pentacles is someone trying to juggle and balance things and dance against the background of a roiling sea. And the suit of Pentacles is about practical life matters, money, career, domestic concerns, and so on. So yesterday, I was thinking what that meant for me was that I needed to spend the time focusing on practical things to distract myself from ruminating and worrying, by juggling all my efforts towards various goals like being productive at work, managing my finances, getting exercise, spending time with friends, and taking care of errands and tasks at home. The problem with trying to use distractions to escape from trauma is that, at the end of the day, you lie down in bed, and then everything you tried to run away from by keeping busy during the day swirls up in your thoughts, and the pain comes crashing in on you.
So that happened last night. It was a bad night. I went around and around and around in the same circles in my head. Why would someone treat me that way? Did I just misunderstand him? Did I judge him too harshly? Was it all my fault? What could and should I have done differently? Is there something I still could do to fix things, to change things, to make things better, to heal, to find closure? What was going on in his head, who was he really, what happened to him to make him this way? The endless circle of questions, and going through my crazy-quilt patchwork of memories where some things have faded and some things have stood out and grown larger, seams have ripped and torn, and nothing adds up into a coherent story that I can make sense of.
I finally thought: Why can’t I just settle on the narrative that makes the most sense and then put it behind me and move on? What happened was that someone I trusted turned out to be a dysfunctional dud of a person. Clive was a messed-up jerk. As for Oonagh, I thought she was a friend too, but really I didn’t know her very well, and she turned out to be just another flaky, immature scene person. And John was probably only so nice to me because he was hoping we could date, and when he finally understood that it was Clive I had been in love with and that I was shattered by the breakup, John lost interest in me. So that was what happened. It sucked, it was horrible, it triggered my PTSD symptoms that had been in remission for 20 years before that. But I do have a narrative about it that makes sense, and what I need to do is just write it all off as a loss, write all three of them off as former friends who just turned out not to be good friends to me. I still have a lot of friends and resources and joy and blessings, and I need to focus on the happy possibilities ahead of me instead of the grief and hurt that I suffered through for the past two years.
So then, with those thoughts, I calmed down, and I finally fell asleep, after all the crying and loud sobbing and shaking. Mornings and evenings are always some of the worst times for rumination, but it was just really a bad night.
So now I think this is what the Two of Pentacles was foretelling for me: emotionally, I am sailing on stormy seas for the next two weeks. I will have ups and downs, I will be struggling to keep on an even keel, to keep from floundering or capsizing. On a practical level, I have lots to keep me busy, though everything is really pretty great. But it’s a precarious time, and I have to be very strong and brave and focused and mindful to get through it safely.

2024.05.16 13:25 Megabot555 Just finished Starless Sea. I liked it, but I have so many questions
First time reading this author. It wasn’t super exciting for me at the start, had to trudge through until “Ballad of Simon and Eleanor” which was where things really picked up.
I liked a lot of things about this book. The inclusion of Kat into the plot at the end was really good. I liked the whimsical fairy tales, especially Simon and Eleanor and how their story panned out, despite everything that happened.
I’m not particularly sold on Zachary-Dorian as a romance? Implied age-gap aside, Zachary seemed to like Dorian because he’s cool and suave, but there’s not much reason for Dorian to reciprocate? Maybe aside from needing company after leaving behind his assassin life, but that’s not compelling enough for me I guess.
I am glad it had a happy ending, but there are so many things I couldn’t understand.
- Zachary’s death: the “bees” said he was “the end”. Was the only reason he died was to create a dramatic, climactic ending for the story? Why was there a need for an “ending”, for the sea to rise and swallow up everything? Was it to resolve Time and Fate’s (Mirabel and Keeper’s) story?
- The story sculptor: at the end the bees let Zachary meet the story sculptor, who turned out to be Mirabel. But the sculptor was also the person who made the box/story/concept to hide Fate’s heart, and Fate was also Mirabel? Is Mirabel playing/representative of multiple characters?
- Who was the silhouette in the book crypt?
- Why bees and honey? Yes their speech pattern was absolutely hilarious, and there’s a theme between a Keeper and Bees, but what do they represent, what purpose do they serve? Are they the story tellers? Why are they also the Kitchen? Why is the sea made out of honey specifically?
- Owl King (and owls in general): I understand the title is passed along many generations of owls, none of whom are named. But Dorian met an Owl King before coming to the inn, what did that moment mean? And the sword (that allegedly “will kill the king”) targeted Zachary instead. The owls in the original Time and Fate story were antagonists, ripping Fate apart. And in the present they did come attack Zachary and Mirabel when they descended. But otherwise they were… kinda chill? Some stories had them be pretty peaceful, like when the middle daughter killed a King and just lived with an owl, or when Simon said “the owls guide and propel the story forward, why are you afraid?” Are they inherently good or evil, or are they simply a neutral plot device to move the plot along in different stories?
- What were the voices in Zachary’s head right before Simon came and snapped him out of it? Who or what’s the force that’s stopping Zachary on his “quest”? Again, is it the owls? Is it the “stars”, the ones that conspired against Time and Fate? What did Simon mean by “we are the stars?” Why were the stars happy at the end?
- What happens at the very end? Kat opens a door into a new Harbor, where Zachary, Dorian, Simon, and Eleanor are heading to? The sea floods the old harbor? Will Mirabel and Keeper join them, to create new doors to invite more people to join them? Everyone being alive aside, the new HarboSea seems so lifeless and barren, where all the books and architecture has been destroyed/consumed, so is it a really a good thing that it lives on?
I know this is a lot of questions, and some of them might be dumber than others. I’d love to hear your guys’ explanation of what these details meant, thank you!

2024.05.16 03:48 Wisting A Level 8 One-Shot: The Frozen Palace of Tirrog
Hello Reddit. Below is a one-shot designed for four level 8 characters. I would expect this to take approximately 2 sessions of a few hours (roughly 6 hours in total) to run through in its entirety. Your mileage may vary depending on how quickly your table handles combat.
You can find a PDF of this adventure along with battlemaps
here. Here's a quick adventure overview: This is a combat focused adventure that takes place on an unnaturally frozen lake outside the mountain town of Maul, though it could be set on any lake of your choosing.
The players are tasked with killing a Frost Giant named Tirrog who has recently descended from nearby mountains. With the aid of a white dragon, he has frozen the lake and created an icy palace atop it.
The players must survive a series of challenging encounters before confronting Tirrog and his enslaved white dragon beneath his palace. After successfully ending the threat, the players will be rewarded with the favor of Maul’s residents.
If you get the chance to run this, or even just look through the whole thing, I would love feedback!
Here is the rest of the adventure: For the DM: What’s Going on Here?
Some additional context just for the Dungeon Master:
· Tirrog, the Frost Giant, was cast out of his clan after losing a duel with his father.
· He stole a Young Adult White Dragon named Bymraynyl and used her power to freeze a nearby lake and construct an icy palace.
· Tirrog resides in a cavern beneath the palace, awaiting the challenge of Maul’s mightiest warriors, hoping to regain his clan’s favor by winning.
· Bymraynyl, the white dragon, is imprisoned by Tirrog and will only attack the players if they fail to free her.
Adventure Hooks
When determining why your players are involved with ending Tirrog’s icy presence, feel free to use any, or all, of the below Adventure Hooks when discussing this adventure with your players.
Aiding the Guards of Maul
The adventurers are approached by Brenlanna Orina, the Captain of the Guards of Maul. Brenlanna explains the situation caused by Tirrog is dire as his forces roam the countryside and many townsfolk have gone missing.
The constant threat has left the town’s defenses stretched thin and she needs capable adventurers to end his reign of terror. She emphasizes that defeating Tirrog will not only bring peace to Maul, but also earn the gratitude and favor of its people.
Ecological Balance
Mort, A local druid, approaches the adventurers to express his deep concerns about the unnatural freezing of the lake. Mort explains that the frozen lake has disrupted the local ecosystem, causing harm to wildlife and plants.
He implores the adventurers to defeat Tirrog and restore the natural balance. In return, the druid offers their knowledge of the land, rare herbs, and a powerful artifact as a reward. Restoring the lake to its natural state will help the region thrive once more.
Dragon Hunters
Word has travelled far and wide that Bymraynyl, a white dragon, is far from its natural territory and is imprisoned by Tirrog, the frost giant.
The adventurers are from a dragon hunting guild and see this as a prime opportunity to either hone their skills of slaying dragons or set free a majestic creature, allowing it to grow and become a more challenging hunt.
Before the Adventure Begins
This adventure begins by introducing your players at the gates of Tirrog’s frozen palace. They will be battling their way through Tirrog’s defenses, seeking to challenge him. Share the below excerpt with your players as they create their characters:
Your journeys have brought you to Maul, a small mountain town renowned for its gladiatorial games held beneath the mountain of Pike Rise.
Word has travelled quickly that Tirrog, a frost giant, has descended from the peaks of Pike Rise with Bymraynyl, a white dragon. They have frozen a nearby lake and constructed an icy palace. Frost is spreading farther from the lake with each passing day and Tirrog’s forces patrol the countryside, pillaging small villages.
For your own various reasons, you have agreed to help end Tirrog’s reign of terror by any means necessary.
As the game master, you should note down the passive perception for each character as this will be referenced in the adventure for ambush encounters.
The encounters provided in this adventure are balanced for four level 8 characters. To adjust for fewer players, consider removing ¼ of the monsters’ health pools for each player less than four. To adjust for more players, consider adding additional
Duergar Berserkers or
Ice Mephits in each encounter.
Approaching the Palace
When your players are ready to begin their adventure, start by reading the below excerpt to kick things off:
As you approach the lake, a chill unlike any you’ve felt before cuts through your armor. Before you is an unnaturally frozen expanse, its surface a flawless sheet of ice stretching as far as the eye can see. The air is eerily still, and the usual sounds of wildlife are absent, replaced only by the whispers of wind across the frozen wasteland.
In the center of this icy domain stands an imposing ice palace, its glistening walls reflect the pale sunlight from above. Four watchtowers, each 40 feet tall and crafted entirely of ice, stand at the corners of the palace.
The front door of the palace, a massive slab of ice 20 feet wide, looms before you. Its surface is intricately carved with frost patterns, but it is sealed shut, offering no immediate passage into the stronghold. The sense of foreboding is palpable, as if the palace itself is a living entity, waiting to challenge those who dare approach.
[Player A], please describe your character, what they are doing, and where they are on the map. (Ask this of all players before continuing)
Palace Locations
P1. Four Watchtowers
To open the palace's front door, the adventurers must pull four levers located at the tops of the four icy watchtowers. Each tower is guarded by a
Duergar Berserker and two
Ice Mephits. Engaging one group will alert the other towers.
Ice bridges connect the left and right towers and are considered difficult terrain. The 40-foot towers are nearly impossible to climb without magic or specialized gear. Once all four levers are pulled, the palace door will melt.
P2. Palace Entrance
The palace's interior boasts 30-foot-high ceilings supported by large ice pillars. Braziers of blue flame illuminate four ice sculptures, an icy throne, and the bones of Tirrog's unsuccessful challengers. In the center of the floor is a 20-foot circle of intricate carvings, which opens when two
Ice Elementals are defeated.
Two
Ice Elementals are hidden within the ice walls, ready to ambush the players once they all enter the palace. Upon defeating them, the circle in the floor melts away, revealing a 100-foot-deep hole with a wooden ladder descending beneath the lake.
P3. Beneath the Lake
The floors in all subsequent rooms are ice and considered difficult terrain. There are four pairs of
Ice Cleats in room P4 which can aid with traversing the rooms. Most of the walls are perfectly sculpted ice, 25-feet-high, but some areas have caved in due to lake pressure or creature damage. All doorways are wooden and unlocked unless noted otherwise.
There are no torches in this room and constant howling wind can be heard from room P6.
P4. Ice Bunks
This well-lit room of ice contains four beds and supplies for the Duergar. If the boxes are searched, the players will easily find four pairs of
Ice Cleats.
There are 2
Duergar Berserkers in this room and if engaged, they will alert the Duergar in room P5.
A DC 18 investigation check will uncover a
+2 Greataxe hidden in an icy cavity underneath one of the beds. There is a small supply room that connects P4 to P5.
P5. Leisure Hall
This room is well-lit and contains tables, mostly empty casks of beer, and a rack of mugs along the wall. There is 1
Duergar Berserker and 1
Duergar Priest in this room. They will alert the Duergar in room P4 if engaged.
One of the casks has 6 servings of
Mimic’s Brew left in it.
P6. The Frozen Hall
This area is the coldest room in the Palace and there is a deafening wind constantly blowing. It is well-lit and the entryway to this room is supported by two pillars.
There is a magical ice statue at the end of the hallway that is constantly blowing damaging ice winds. There is a stone on the back of the statue which deactivates it.
The wind blows from the statue and ends just before it reaches the room with the pillars. A creature can be damaged by the wind once per round. If a creature is in the presence of the icy wind, they must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking 22 (5d8) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.
The doorways to P10 and P11 are locked with padlocks. They can both be unlocked with a DC 17
Thieves’ Tools check.
P7. Prison Cell
This room contains one locked cell. It takes a
Thieves’ Tools check (DC 15) to unlock the cell. There is also a chair made of ice sitting in the corner of this room.
Zathea, a female Duergar Berserker, is locked in the cell and visibly malnourished.
If Zathea is freed from her cell, she will warn the adventurers of the troll ahead, tell them how to deactivate the stone statue, and ask that they consider letting Bymraynyl go
P8. Lumber Storage
This unlit room is where lumber for fires is kept. There are a few axes for cutting wood. Three of the logs in this room are
Mimics but will only attack if the players actively search through the logs.
P9. The Crumbling Hall
This illuminated hallway is visibly damaged. A
Perception check (DC 15) will notice claw marks as the primary source of damage.
The doorway to P10 is locked with a padlock and can be unlocked with a DC 17
Thieves’ Tools check.
P10. Troll’s Den
This room is not lit, contains the bones of many dead fish, and smells putrid. There is 1
Troll in this room.
A DC 17
Investigation check will find a gemmed golden lure in the carcass of a dead fish worth approximately 50 gold pieces.
P11. Bymraynyl, The White Dragon
This room contains
Bymraynyl, a young adult white dragon, who has just freed herself from Tirrog’s chains. She is visibly wounded and only has half of her health.
She will try to reason with the adventurers to let her go but is ready to fight if they will not.
If the players choose to free Bymraynyl, she will excavate a small amount of ice and reveal
a +2 Breastplate hidden in the ice, which they are free to take.
P12. Tirrog, The Frost Giant
Tirrog sits patiently in this well-lit icy throne room, waiting for his challengers. Before engaging with the adventurers, he gently pats a large wooden chest next to his throne and says in Giant:
I took all that I could from Pike Rise and it’s all yours should you defeat me. But with your heads, I can return home. Let us see who will be rewarded this day.
The chest contains 15 sapphires worth 25 gold each, 2,000 gold, 2 potions of greater healing, and an
Everwarm Blanket.
Random Encounters
Roll 1 4-sided die every hour to determine which monsters return to the palace from their patrol around the lake. All monsters should roam freely as you see fit.
Result | Monsters returning from Patrol |
1 | 3 Duergar Berserkers & 2 Ice Mephits |
2 | 1 Ice Elemental & 4 Ice Mephits |
3 | 1 Troll |
4 | 1 Ice Elemental & 1 Duergar Berserker |
Concluding the Adventure
Upon defeating Tirrog, the players will have reached the end of this adventure. If you and your players wish to continue adventuring from this point, this would be an appropriate milestone to increase their character levels to 9.
Thank you for playing through
The Frozen Palace of Tirrog. I hope you and your players had a fun time with this adventure!
Magical Items

An hour after you consume this beer, your tongue hangs from your mouth until you finish a long rest.
The bottom of this potent brown ale is a small layer of slime
Tirrog’s Helmet
Helmet, rare (requires attunement)
You gain a +1 bonus to AC and Constitution saving throws while you where this helmet.

I pinned them into place, then used embroidery floss to do running stitches up and down the length. Cut out my pattern pieces and sewed like normal 😄 Fabrics are linen scraps from a naturally dyed quilt I made last year and a few cotton scraps from other projects. submitted by Elegant-Nectarine-93 to sewing [link] [comments] |
2024.05.15 23:46 OneVioletRose I wanted to hug [redacted] so badly I made it possible - and now maybe you can, too? (Plushie 'preorder' + free sewing pattern) [DLC SPOILERS]
Some of you may recognise the
DLC-shaped fanart (fan plush?) I made two... years... ago
omg I'm so sorry I'm finally in a position to make more! And even sell them! :D
How I Hope This'll Work: I currently have materials to make
3 plushies, and there were a
lot more than 3 people interested the last time I posted this, so I put together
an interest form. This sub moves pretty quickly, so after
4 days, if there are more than 3 people interested, I'll draw 3 by lottery and the rest will go into the pool for a potential second batch. If you want in on this round, fill out the form before 11:59 on Sunday, Central European Summer Time. The form itself will stay open for 2 weeks or until I finally remember to close it, whichever takes longer, in case anyone else wants in on that second batch.
The normal price would be
90€ + shipping (from Germany), just based on how long they take to make, but I made some minor boo-boos in the hoof embroidery for 2 of them. So! Depending on how nice of hooves you want, the two "B-grades" will be
80€ ea + shipping. Shipping to the US/worldwide is usually 25€, in-EU shipping is of course cheaper.
Once the names are drawn and the customization options picked out, I'll do my best to get them done and sent out that week - but a more pessimistic/realistic turnaround time would be "all 3 done and sent out by June 8th".
The Pattern: The base pattern is a
free owl pattern by Choly Knight. So, for the craftily inclined, I'm also publishing the
Owlk Pattern modifications I made (with their blessing!). Choly Knight's patterns are extremely thorough and beginner friendly; mine is just a straightforward pattern, but you should be able to swap the pieces out one to one with the originals and have it work. And I'll be checking this thread for questions :)
Bad News about the Fabric: The colour I used for the body... might have been discontinued 🫠 Really hoping I can source some, but if not, I may have to change colour schemes, or something even more drastic. Which leads me to...
Other Stuff? I don't
have to make the same plushie over and over, I'm open to trying new things! A green-tinted version, to go with the DLC's lighting scheme?
Prisoner squishmallow? Little owlk keychains/bag-clips? Toss me your ideas, I'm open!

2024.05.15 17:27 scriptorpress The Cenacle 124 April 2024 *Just Released*
The Cenacle 124 April 2024 29th Anniversary Issue https://scriptorpress.com/cenacle/124 [Size = 13.6 MB] Hello everyone,
Here comes the just-released
Cenacle 124 April 2024. Returning to the desired quarterly issue cadence that has been missing for the past couple of years. It was hard doing this issue without the usual many years’ involvement of my dear poet friend, the late Judih Weinstein Haggai, but her poetry features in this issue nonetheless, & will remain so in each issue ever on.
Thus far, 2024 for the human world has been a fairly dark one. The global Pandemic has not ended, though millions risk sickness & death for themselves & others by choosing to join in a kind of mass amnesia about the crisis. Meanwhile, the climate crisis continues to get the same kind of hostile indifference. The genocide in Gaza goes on unabated by any of the many powerful & supposedly democratic nations of the world. And a likely felon has jazzed the US electoral process, its weaknesses & flaws among its many strengths, to be within reach of again taking over &, as he has vowed, taking revenge.
I can’t tell you that this literary journal operates toe to toe on the global scale to oppose these various human catastrophes, but I can say that if we don’t seek Beauty, & Nature, & look beyond the petty fuckeries of the current day, we are much more likely to be lost than if we find a way to do this.
This fine anniversary issue features new poetry by Tamara Miles, Martina Reisz Newberry, Colin James, Sam Knot, Jimmy Heffernan, Judih Weinstein Haggai, & myself.
Also new fiction by Timothy Vilgiate, Algernon Beagle, & myself. And classic fiction from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
. And new prose pieces by Nathan D. Horowitz, Charlie Beyer, & myself.
There is also new graphic artwork by AbandonView, Epi Rogan, Louis Staeble, Kassandra Soulard, Sam Knot, Tamara Miles, & Nathan D. Horowitz.
Contents of this new issue include: From Soulard’s Notebooks [Excerpt] I find myself leaning back often into 3 questions that I believe most influence human psychology & human culture: 1) Why are we here? 2) Where are we from? 3) What are we supposed to be doing? * * * * * *
Feedback on Cenacle 123 [Excerpt] I made it to the first poem by Judih Weinstein Haggai, sank into it, breathed it, needed it, and couldn’t go further into the issue yet. But it’s beautiful. And Kassandra Soulard’s cover photo: wow
. (Tamara Miles)

From the ElectroLounge Forums: Selections from Unknot 24, Part 1[Excerpt] A project that I expect to work on for the rest of my life and never finish is a kind of art project playing with meaning making and the first few layers of knots, so this is all part of that really. I suppose it is a way to give a kind of focus or even kind of “abstract grounding” to some other kind of activity which isn’t necessarily even directly related to or about it. (Sam Knot)

Haiku from a Silent Retreat (7/31/2021) [Excerpt] by Judih Weinstein Haggai Everybody! Are you everybody? I’m not either * * * * * *
Notes from New England: Dream Raps, Volume Thirteen [Excerpt] by Raymond Soulard, Jr. Now that my friends are gone, the very shy Creatures who sometimes visit my hovel begin to come out, sniffing friendly their hellos. Accept my offer to cluster with me under the blankets, them being cold as ever when outside of the White Woods. White Bunny, Hedgedyhog, Peppermint Bears, Kittees & their Friend Fish. Alvinarah Poesy, & his dear friend Naria Narwhal. Even that cackling little Imp is under there somewhere. They never stay long, but I love them passing through. They’re excited about the Rutabaga Festival & Fleastock in the White Woods, I’m guessing. * * * * * *
Becoming Archaeology: A Eulogy for Living Moor. (Part Two) [Excerpt] by Sam Knot It moves me more than any painting or poem, seems to encode more meaning, personal & planetary, than any other art, this simple offering. This intricate gift. * * * * * *
Notes Toward Many Musics [Excerpt] by Raymond Soulard, Jr. I believe a Narrative should always lead with the best it has, its most potent moment or image or the like. And let this lead set its standard. When I think of the Narrative options for these poems, I come back every time to starting from the start. These poems build on years & years of the work it took to get the six Brother-Heroes reunited rightly, after telling their unique stories as rightly as possible too. I did the best thinking & writing that I could. * * * * * *
Poetry by Martina Newberry [Excerpt] Tall on the dirty stage, from my notebook I conferred my poems. No time limit, no faces, noises of shifting dust and cars out there somewhere, I read for many minutes, emoting here and there, hands rising and falling, singing through some. * * * * * *
Rivers of the Mind (A Novel) [Excerpt] by Timothy Vilgiate I could not help but fear that he’d attack me as I laid there; I lost count of how many times I got up to check my locks or to peek underneath the bed. I turned over and over, rocking the mattress like an unsteady boat, straining to keep my eyes shut. It was no use. Midnight came, and I was still awake; my hair matted over my irritated face, my blanket clutched in between my hands over my mouth as I tried to stop myself from sobbing. But I couldn’t let it see me cry. I couldn’t let it even see me blink. * * * * * *
Poetry by Tamara Miles [Excerpt] A lion’s music—a carnival of sound, beyond the roar of reserve, park, zoo, circus, and safari, the wild kingdom beyond the definition of safe and unsafe, cruel or kind, in sub-Saharan Africa, or in India, Gir forest, where the heart beat and drum beat and incense are heavy. * * * * * *
The Lagoon of the Air Goblins (Travel Journal) [Excerpt] by Nathan D. Horowitz I’m dehydrated from the sun today. I haven’t rehydrated. My hydration’s out of wack. It seems an eternity, maybe two, since I ordered a glass of papaya juice. Inside the café, mysterious café things may be happening, involving blenders and workforce and fruit and power. Time’s ticking by and it sounds like trees falling into a river. I glance at the red and white checkered tablecloth and remember I’ve always hated red and white checkered patterns. Serafín the educator said he would meet me here to tell me about the Secoya cosmovision, and he isn’t showing up. * * * * * *
Poetry by Colin James [Excerpt] Episodically craved by adolescents, Prometheus displays his tats behind The Dollar Store in Bonita. The one with the plastic pillars. * * * * * *
Mad Jack (Prose) [Excerpt] by Charlie Beyer We were longhaired teenage criminals. I looked like Jesus and my best buddy had flaming red shoulder-length hair, the devil to rival my divine look. Scott the Red. We were all hair, except Mad Jack (or Bob, as I knew him), who was as shaved as a plastic bag. We all sat in the car outside the 7-11 in the night rain. Blue smoke trickled out of the cracked window. Inside was a haze of marijuana smoke tainted with opium. We were high and crazed. * * * * * *
Poetry by Jimmy Heffernan [Excerpt] The moment to which we have access So Nature can “see” through time And what is this but awareness? A tunneling from the immediate future Back into the present * * * * * *
Bags End Book #21: What is the Creature Carnival? Part 3 (Fiction) [Excerpt] by Algernon Beagle It makes me remember how our teacher Mister Owl in Bags End teached how different places have their different ways of thinking & telling. So if you’re gonna watch a Creature production, whether it’s the Carnival, or a Grand Production, or this time both, you’re gonna be in 4or a good crazy ride. * * * * * *
The Hound of the Baskervilles (Classic Fiction) [Excerpt] by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Mr. Sherlock Holmes, who was usually very late in the mornings, save upon those not infrequent occasions when he was up all night, was seated at the breakfast table. I stood upon the hearth-rug and picked up the stick which our visitor had left behind him the night before. It was a fine, thick piece of wood, bulbous-headed, of the sort which is known as a “Penang lawyer.” Just under the head was a broad silver band nearly an inch across. “To James Mortimer, M.R.C.S., from his friends of the C.C.H.,” was engraved upon it, with the date “1884.” It was just such a stick as the oldfashioned family practitioner used to carry—dignified, solid, and reassuring. * * * * * *
Labyrinthine [A New Fixtion] [Excerpt] by Raymond Soulard, Jr. I’m distracted just as this strange fellow appears on stage with some kind of tool in his hand. He is very fancily dressed, some kind of home-made tuxedo? Or one sewn from many scraps? And he starts to recite a poem, I think, in a tongue I don’t know, when something distracts me. Peace,
Raymond Soulard, Jr.

2024.05.15 04:32 Ordinary-Confusion39 Does anyone know the name of this specific fabric/pattern? Blanket made 2000-2002
| I’m trying to find this fabric in hopes of making an adult size of my baby blanket. I’ve had it literally since I remember, so years are assumed. it was made by a late family friend. I don’t know how to really go about finding this specific fabric as google image search hasn’t yielded this specific pattern; and searching floral heart quilt pattern also isn’t helping me. Any info is greatly appreciated! submitted by Ordinary-Confusion39 to HelpMeFind [link] [comments] |

2024.05.15 03:52 Vegetable-Editor9482 Show me your low volume quilts! <3
Hello, lovely quilters!
It's almost time to start my Halloween quilt. I bought a bunch of low volume Halloween prints on sale last winter--blender fabrics from the Owl-o-Ween collection and others, mostly ivory, pale peach, and light gray. I'm determined to not buy any new fabrics until I've made a dent in the stash (I mean it! Really! Wait, what sale?) So I'm going to try to use these together.
I've never done anything with so little contrast or color and am looking for some inspiration. I'd love to see your low volume masterpieces!
