2024.06.09 15:02 SCV_X Unapologetically Plastic

Unapologetically Plastic
In a lot of the online chatter, I see folks poking fun at Apple for calling the iPhone 5c "unapologetically plastic," like Apple is trying to spin plastic as some kind of high-end material (for example, Linus from LTT mocked Apple for it in one of the Wan show episodes right after Apple launched M1). While it’s true that this is something Apple loves to do, but I think in this particular case, there's a misunderstanding here about what Apple was really getting at.
Let me first introduce some context, the year is 2013, and a lot of phone manufacturers use plastic in their flagship products, for example, Samsung, with their Galaxy S5. The S5 has a full plastic build, it uses plastic frame and plastic back plate. However they slapped metallic paint on the frame and added fake leather textures on the back. Why? It seems like they're a bit embarrassed to just embrace the plastic—they feel the need to dress it up as something more 'premium.' Leather and aluminum are more premium than plastic, thus the disguising. (It’s a design choice, I’m not judging it. In fact I own a S5 and a Note 4. But my point is valid.) In Apple or Jony Ive’s book, these people are being “apologetic” for their use of plastic.
Apple took a different approach with the iPhone 5c. When they said "unapologetic plastic," they meant that they're not trying to disguise the material with tricks. Instead, they're embracing it head-on—highlighting the aesthetic and functional benefits of plastic without pretending it's something it's not. If you check out the design video Apple released for the 5c, it's pretty clear. They're not justifying a premium price by claiming the material is something revolutionary; they're just showcasing plastic, pure and simple.

2024.06.09 13:44 Misspissov Lossless Scaling and Skyrim - A Review

I've wanted to write about my experience with Lossless Scaling and Skyrim for a while now, and with the new 3X FG update, I think it's as good a time as any to collect everything I've experienced with this app so far, as well as my opinion on it. I hope it will be helpful to others as well when it comes to what results can be expected of it realistically. Of course I'd love to hear what experiences/opinions others have on LS too, as with everything Skyrim related, YMMV!
I've been using LS for a good month now (I think) and it's been pretty amazing what this app can do. It certainly helped me get a much smoother game.
First, my specs: I play on an Asus TUF A17 (2020) laptop, it has an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H CPU, GTX 1650 (4GB) GPU, and 32 GB RAM. I have almost 700 mods installed (672 atm) many of them visual, like trees (HLT, scaled to 130% size), lush grasses, extra forest debris, 2k textures max (with the only exception being mountains at 4k) medium LODs and an ENB preset (Rudy for NAT.III) that is optimized for better performance with as minimal a visual loss as I could manage (if someone wants to see how my modded game looks, I have pics I shared on the SkyrimPorn subreddit on my profile). By all means, I don't think it's as ultra modded as Skyrim gets, but it's thoroughly modded nonetheless.
At the moment, with this setup, and with no form of upscaling whatsoever, I get around 30 FPS in forested areas, like Falkreath, and ocassionally dip below that in the Rift. Interiors are pretty much 60+ though, even with Lux. So performance is not great at fullscreen in exteriors. It's also choppy at this frame rate too, with stutters. Before FG, I used SSE Display Tweaks at 0.8 or 0.7 resolution scale to get better FPS as that helped me get to a semi-consistent fps of 40-50 in exteriors.
For Lossless Scaling I'm using the following settings: in SSE Display Tweaks I set resolution to my native 1920x1080, resolution scale is at 0.7 atm, upscaling is turned to false, and the game is in borderless windowed. That latter is important for LS to work correctly.
I cap fps at 45 via the ENB menu. Once the upscaling and FG are turned on, the game still looks good to me, with no great visual loss (though I'm sure there is some as upscaling is never perfect, but I can't really tell) and the game is just so, so smooth, which is the biggest improvement for me. As for visual stuff and frame gen, I did notice that if I whip the character view around like crazy, there's ghosting around the character, and at lower fps there's a barely noticable distortion at the very bottom of my screen. It used to be way more visible before the 2.0 FG update though, so maybe in the future this gets improved further. For now, it doesn't bother me as it rarely happens and the smoothness is absolutely amazing. Skyrim without FG at 40 fps is okay, but I hate the occasional stutters and sometimes even at 60 fps, Sykrim just doesn't feel smooth enough. But maybe that's just me. Either way, LS's FG for me is definitely worth it.
Here's a little video about input lag, as that is mentioned, but so far I haven't seen many videos showing it in action (sorry for the crappy quality, took it on my phone but hopefully it's still informative enough. Turn the sound on to hear when I tap space). Honestly, I can't really feel it during gameplay, but I do notice it in menus, so there's that. I imagine that with fast-paced first-person shooters this input lag would feel way worse.
As for a comparison with Puredark's upscaler: I can't say anything regarding his frame generation as I've never used it (for those who used both, feel free to share your thoughts! I'd love to see a proper comparison), but I can share my opinions on 2 of his upscaling techniques that I've tried and used before, namely FSR and XeSS. My opinion is that LS beats both, especially regarding visuals. Puredark's FSR performs better than XeSS, but for me, it introduced some very distorted effects. The most affected were fire and water, but magic effects looked wrong too. Here are some pics of what I'm talking about: Fire, water (I use Natural waterfalls now, but FSR distorts that too). With LS's FSR I get no such visual bugs. XeSS had no such problems, though I did notice moving lines appearing on fabrics like banners and rugs. It's also not just a me problem, as I've seen it on other people's comparisons too, like this one from a year ago (the first imgur link has shots of water where the visual loss with fsr is seen, water looks less detailed, especially waterfalls).
LS vs DLSS: I'll say that, in my opinion DLSS (wether it's Puredark's or not) will be superior to other methods. RTX cards have special hardware that support dlss upscaling (from my limited understanding) so a purely software based upscaling can't really compete. If you have access to dlss upscaling, I'd say keep it, LS will probably look and perform worse to you, but for people like me who don't have an RTX card, or have non-Nvidia gpus, it is a pretty good app and is worth its price.
All that said, keep in mind that LS can't perform miracles. Even the app page says that a minimum of 30 fps is needed for it to work well, and during my stresstest where I upped graphics as much as I could and could no longer achieve even 25 fps at all, it couldn't give me a smooth and good-looking result. The visual distortion was very visible and latency got worse too, it also didn't feel smooth at all despite displaying 60+ fps drawn. 30 fps to me wasn't much better either, so from my purely personal experiences, I'd say a minimum of 40 fps is recommended for good results.
That's it for now. If you're interested in Lossless Scaling, here's the Steam link.
TL:DR: Lossless Scaling is amazing and can help smoothen gameplay greatly, but can't do miracles and turn 20 fps to smooth 60 with perfect visuals. Also likely not going to beat rtx gpu's hardware supported dlss.
Edit: one more thing I forgot to mention is that using frame gen WILL lower your base fps, in my experience by about 7 fps, so it's best to keep that in mind when capping.

2024.06.09 13:43 ParkingChildhood5033 Frameapolooza question

So yesterday I was calling the list with the script and a customer asked me a question I don't know the answer to. If frameapalooza is 70% what makes it so special? They got 70% off when they ordered and it wasn't even LPOS, so why do they need to rush in to frame something at the same price they could get several other times per year?
Years ago they would do a better sale during frameapolooza that was actually enticing but this 70% isn't any different than a normal sale.

2024.06.09 12:02 Coffee_Cardio Adult Bedroom Upgrade!

Wow, I had no idea a niche sub like this existed! We are moving to a new home, and finally ordered an adult bedroom set. (At age 40 and after 15 years of marriage, it was time!) We went w/ the PB Maddox line. For reference, we live in MA- so the Northeast has fluctuating temps.
Looking to grab a new bedding set. Seeking recommendations for the following: 1) Cool sheets. We both run hot at night. Linen? Or something else, and from where?
2) An amazing mattress topper. Looking to get 3-5 more years out of our current Tuft and Needle mattress, as well as add 3-4 inches in height for the bed frame. am consider the Quince 'premium down alternative mattress topper.' Thoughts? Would like this to be under $200.
3) Duvet that is washable, and doesn't require all the fuss of an insert and cover set up. Does such exist?
....I am tempted by some of the PB bedding based on looks, but not sure if the quality justifies the price. I am a Maine- native, so I am drawn to LL Bean- but for the same reason, I am not sure. Thank you all for any input.

2024.06.09 11:00 Mano859 Wanting to know whether to upgrade my PC or stick with my PS5

So I want to start off by saying that I’ve been a PC gamer since about 2014. I’ve been upgrading it off and on when I had money, but I’ve never been able to really get my PC to where I wanted it and I genuinely don’t like the idea of building and tinkering my PC. I have a PS5, and a new gaming laptop coming in the mail. However I can’t make my mind up on something. I’ve been loving my PS5, I like the idea of plugging in a game and playing it at 60 FPS with from what I can tell are relatively high settings compared to the PC. But my question is, would it be worth it to sell my PS5 and upgrade my desktop? My desktop has a 2080TI, and i77700k, 16 GBs of ram, and a terabyte SSD. My 2080ti is being bottlenecked heavily by my i7 and doesn’t produce nearly what it should. I only learned that after I spent nearly 1500 to buy the thing near when it came out. I was told at the time that my i7 wouldn’t be an issue however, whoever told me that was dead wrong. I can barely get 60 fps in FARCRY 5 at 1440p med-ultra settings and it’s similar to Other open world games like borderlands 3, Jedi survivor, Cyberpunk 2077, ETC. Due to this im Very sour toward PC gaming at the moment as it feels I’ve never been able to really have a rig that produces the frames and graphics I wanted and paid for. I’m in the military so I bought a pretty beefy laptop to take on rotations and such, but I’m wondering if I should have upgraded my desktop or bought the PS5. From what I can tell the PS5 runs games like Jedi survivor very well and at what looks like a mix between high and ultra settings. Is this true for most games on the PS5? I haven’t been able to play too much but the games I did play looked great. Example being Helldivers 2, Dead Island 2, Assassins Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and the next game I’m going to buy on it, Borderlands 3. Does the PS5 run games at a pretty high graphics setting? Or am I having a bit of a placebo mixed with buyers remorse? Should I have just forked over the cash for a new processor and motherboard? My thought process was that I couldn’t really justify the price of that verses the PS5 which is a very low buy in price. I don’t know honestly. My buddy who builds PCs for living put a list of parts I needed to offset the 2080ti bottleneck and I honestly was just angry at how expensive it was going to be while I had already purchased the 2080ti going off of advice that was obviously wrong, but hindsight is always 20/20 I guess haha. I see a lot of people hating on the PS5 on Reddit and YouTube saying that it runs most games at low to medium settings to get the 60 but they really don’t look like they’re at low or medium. A lot on the ps5 look like a mix between medium and ultra. Which I’m ok with honestly. I also got tired of every single port on PC being horrendous and needing like an hour of tweaking to just work like it does on consoles. So what do you guys think? Did I make the right decision or should I try to sell my PS5 and upgrade when I have enough money? I’d love some opinions and advice if you guys have any. Thank you!

2024.06.09 10:36 Prime262 Battery Armor Blues: Would you call this Quick Thinking support?

This is going to take a while, so id like to lead with something i found sort of amusing while doing research for this post
currently, the highest amount of energy a warframe can achieve, would be Garuda Prime with Primed Flow, Endurance Drift, and 5 blue Tauforged Archon shards. this would get 1319 max energy.
Assuming that Garuda could fully activate Battery Armor, by itself, she would reach 1320 max energy.
lastly, it has been made clear that Battery armor is subject to change, as are all of the upcoming arcanes. what follows will be assuming that we get it as it has been shown. and may serve as argumentation for if it should, or should not, be changed.
Battery Armor is a very interesting Arcane. at .3 max energy per point of armor, youd need 3334 armor to fully activate the effect, granting any warframe 1000 energy max.
there is alot to unpack here, but before we talk about how much armor that is, and if/when this is worth using when you cant max it out, we need to address a more complicated problem.
why do you want energy Max? and when you do, what would you possibly want with that much of it?
Energy max is a component of the Trifecta of the "Energy Economy". that being energy generation, energy expense, and energy max, aka your buffer.
there are about a billion ways these days to generate energy, and efficiency/duration can reduce the amount of energy you spend. letting you increase income and decrease expense. with good enough energy generation, energy max becomes superfluous. so when is energy max warranted?
the first case is when you want to cast 1 ability for a really, really long time, that has a drain effect you cant bypass. this is sort of the Mesa problem, though with health orb creators and the Dispensary in the helminth its not that big of a deal for Mesa either.
the second case is when your energy Generation is very "Bursty". the peak popularity of Primed Flow Coincided with the dominance of Arcane Energize. having a high energy cap was important to ensure that when energize went off, you didn't lose part of it due to not having room for the full 150. Energize has a hard cap of 600 energy per minute. it can only be less efficient than that, not more. if your energy cap was low, around 200, youd often lose part of your energize, it was important to bump it up higher so that didnt happen. as Energize has fallen out of favor, so has flow. there are still some energy generation setups that are sufficiently bursty. Spectrosiphon setups generate about a billion energy orbs, but they can be tedious to maintain. having a high E max can mean you dont need too do the siphon dance nearly as often.
the third case is in combination with things like the Preparation mod, for non-endless mission builds that forgo energy generation entirely and plan to just bring all the energy they need with them.
these all focus on Emax as it pertains to the role of energy in ability casting, but there are 3 more cases that dont.
the first being ofcourse, incarnon weapons. a number of them have effects that only work when you have a certain amount of Emax. and for some frames reaching that number is not possible with Primed Flow alone. for some setups Battery Armor may be more practical.
the current lowest base energy capacity is Ash Prime, at 150. to get to 700 Emax for triggering Paladin's Virtue would require Ash to have 1834 armor. this is still a little bit... . this is still very impractical.
so maybe god didnt intend ash prime too use Angstrum incarnon, and we will just have to live with that. surely there are other frames and situations where it will be more helpful.
the second worth noting is Secondary Surge. Yet another new arcane which, if it shipped as its presented, would offer up a damage multiplier on the next shot in exchange for your Current energy. up to 8x at 1600 Current energy.
if this is, effectively, 800% roar, then surely someone somewhere will find a practical use for this. even if it is just killing Terry with a non-incarnon Lato. i can feel the Dark Pull of the Azima once again calling to me, but im sure DE pre-emptively made this not apply to the turrets to salt my wounds.
nothing definite can be said about Surge right now, since we dont have it. the fact that its 1 shot and the fact that most of our big enemies damage attenuate means this will likely end up as a gimmick for BTFO'ing Demo units at absolute best.
the last reason to want high energy max has already been foreshadowed, Quick Thinking.
Quick thinking is a profoundly old mod. its rare to find something from 2013 warframe that still has some straight up voodoo too it, but well. . .the Wiki cannot Define what a "strong hit" is, and the problem isnt even documented ingame.
setting that aside, Quick thinking lets you treat your energy bar like a health bar. 1000 energy would translate into 2400 additional health. and yes Quick thinking scales with your armor. to get that energy you are automatically assuming atleast 3334 armor, so that'd make you fairly tanky. really the idea of being able to spec into survival focusing on shields, health, or energy as your main juice of survival would be great.
ok so there are at least a handful of reasons you might want to Spike your Emax into the Stratosphere, now lets talk about the problem.
3334 armor is alot of fucking armor.
really only one warframe is going to get this effect for free. .and thats Chroma. who arguably doesn't need it. i mean i guess itd make using his 4 easier. . i guess. Quick Thinking Chroma is kind of a silly concept for a frame that can already get a billion health without any help.
moving down the line, Triple umbral atlas prime with his Maxed out Passive hits 2900 armor. Health conversion + his passive hits 3350. thats just 1 mod, which is not bad. though HC isnt totally reliable, particularly when you are solo.
a valk with Health conversion and like 375+ strength would get there as well. in this case Triple umbral and Health conversion are of equal value.
Grendel Prime, with his gourmand augment, a fully stacked passive, and Health Conversion gets there. though the reliability of keeping Grendels belly fully is somewhat iffy.
Hydroid's plunder can get there, though the abilty is. . we shall be generous and say "has a high skill cap" and not "is profoundly unreliable". he would sill need like over 400 strength or to be running an extra source of armor, but any one will do.
Wukong's Defy gets him part of the way there, but 1350+1500+290 still puts us short.
oberon and inaros would both need totally impractical amounts of power strength, and you dont remember that octavia has an armor buff, so i wont talk about it.
Melee fortification and 16 kills per 10 seconds gets there, il leave explaining why this is not helpful as an exercise for the reader.
lastly, lets talk about Parasitic armor. we can fiddle with the numbers here a bit. at 300 Strength youd only need about 1100 shields, or really less given your base armor. the main issue with this idea is that you cant gain more shields until it runs out, so you cant use this effect to keep your energy max up permanently. you can use it to temporarily spike your Emax. .but to what end?
lets look at some more practical things.
a Tauforged blue archon shard gives 225 armor and would also give 67.5 Emax. effectively doubling the value of the shard, in a very specific way.
ive mentioned health conversion a few times. for most warframes, health conversion is the best 1 slot source of armor available. you need more than 750 base armor before Triple umbral'd fiber becomes a better option.
Battery Armor makes Health conversion give 405 Emax in addition to the armor it gives.
is that good?
Primed flow gives exactly 405 Emax if your have 225 base energy. 225 is the most common base energy in the game, though again, accounting for base armor, you would come out slightly ahead of primed flow
the problem here is that arcane slots are generally. . .more valuable than mod slots. so spending an arcane slot to save a mod slot seems pointless. especially if you are having to build into armor just to get it active.
Battery armor being balanced so that the most powerful source of flat armor being roughly as valuable as primed flow on the bulk of warframes feels intentional, and that feels bad. Battery armor feels like a "third arcane slot" arcane as it is currently presented, but. . well. i genuinely think even if the armor to Emax was a 1 to 1 conversion, it would probably still not be terribly popular. it feels over-balanced at the moment.
.3 = 3334 armor to max
.4 = 2500 armor to max
.5 =2000 armor to max
.6=1667 armor to max.
let me present you with a Hypothetical.
currently, there is a combo i call HC+AB. Health Conversion + Arcane Blessing, gives 1350 armor and 1200 HP. its a pair of flat buffs that gives even relatively squishy warframes a solid baseline of tanking, for the bargain price of 1 mod slot and 1 arcane slot.
if Battery Armor were set to .6 armor per 1 E max
most warframes can get too 1667 armor with Health conversion+ their base armor + an Archon shard.
if they instead Ran Battery Armor instead of arcane Blessing, and also ran Quick Thinking. they'd have 1350 armor and +1000 Emax which would then be counted as effectively 2400 HP.
for 1 additional mod slot, weve doubled the Ehp of blessing, we dont need a source of healing anymore, but we are significantly more dependent on good energy management. no i will not start talking about Adaptation this late in the game, but in terms of boosting your Ehp for 1 mot slot. . .you get the idea.
and i still in my gut feeling thing that this would not be worth it. you'd need to address the Faults of Quick thinking and like. . make it a 9 cost mod or something. and the itd still be more build-space than shield gating for something that's likely just as hard to pilot.
this is obviously meant to be combo'd with the other Emax based arcane dropping this set but there is a single digit number of frames that can even Feasibly get too 1600 Emax through this effect, and for that work you still need too cast an ability before every shot.
is this intended to support. .what? the selection of Mediocre Grenade based incarnon sidearms that nobody uses? Atamos Zylok and Gammacor? maybe you could put this behind Lex but Lex is already ludicriously strong without a trapeze act to perform before you can shoot it. i say again . .to what end?
this is alot of work to put into achieving Big Number given you've spent the last 2 years making all of the relevant bosses and minibosses resistant to Big Number technology. i guess maybe this is a new avenue for acoltye nuking, maybe? should be funny with the Grimore alt fire.
as someone who plays almost entirely for Novelty these days, and who has spent much of the last few months getting to know Caliban on a first name basis, my standards of "worth it" are about as low as you can go without busting out the spade. so when i say something doesnt seem like its worth it, that is a judgment of value coming from someone who considers 6 formaing Venato to be a valid use of my time.
TL;Dr.
for the effort required to use it, Battery Armor will almost certainly not see much use. only Chroma, Atlas and Valkyr can activate it reasonably easily, for everyone else its just too much of a pain in the ass.
there are limited reasons to even want significant amounts of Emax, aside from a bespoke combo with an upcoming sidearm arcane that will probably be more trouble than its worth outside of Mr.WarframeGuy's meme videos (and they will no doubt be glorious). interactions with Quick thinking while interesting to think about are burdened by the fact that you are forced to run quick thinking. QT is occasionally useful, but until DE at a bare minimum publishes the conditions for it to Stagger me, and better yet just removes that part of QT entirely il leave the Energymaxxing survival strategy in the hypothetical category.
do you think Battery Armor should ship as presented, or should the rate of armor too energy be raised? personally i think .5 armor per energy, for a max requirement of 2000 armor, would be a fair bit more mannage for a larger portion of the cast. i think .3 is unreasonably low, but im curious if im alone in that. i think any higher than .5 and were lapsing from Fair into Generous.
i also think that no amount of Emax can make the stat itself more Valuable, as simply generating energy reliably is easier and more useful than being able to store alot of it. having good energy generation is a need. having good energy storage is a want.
the best use of over 1k energy max that i can think of is Recreating this old meme using Banshee's 4.
Have a pleasant evening, its 3am and ive been staring at wiki pages and doing math for 3 hours. im going to bed.

Were the trading halts during DFV's stream a little sus or a complete waste of time? Come code with me, let's code, let's code away
Trading halts from DFV's stream have been meming hard. But are they really what we think they are? This post will get quick and dirty and try to answer that question with a rough estimation using video frames as a replacement for the raw exchange data.
Before we begin, one rule that we all must try to understand is the Limit Up-Limit Down (LULD) rule. More about that can be read here:
https://nasdaqtrader.com/content/MarketRegulation/LULD_FAQ.pdf
Simplified TLDR - Not counting the latter end of power hour, we halt when the price of our beloved stock moves 5% away from the average of all trades over the last 5 minutes.
https://preview.redd.it/a3c2ank9kh5d1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=278eec4fdbff8311e6bab6354d0b14b606d33ec5
When trying to do an estimation like this, one's first instinct may be to eyeball the prices on the screen and maybe write down some numbers for calculations. But.. I can't even be trusted with a box of crayons, so how about letting those machines do that work for us.
Like my previous post, the recommended easy way to code along would be using a hosted notebook like Jupyter Lab.

Step 1 - Data Extraction

If have about 800 free MB, 3 hours of computer processing time, and a local environment set up with the necessary libraries (Jupyter lab won't work here), follow along with this step. It's pretty cool the kind of things that can be done with open source applications! If it sounds like too much work, I have uploaded a CSV of the raw extracted data that can get you up to speed to start directly on Step 2.
To do this step you will need to have installed ffmpeg, pytesseract, and OpenCV. You will also need to have the full quality stream (720p 60fps) ripped from YouTube. I'd love to shout out how to do that from the rooftops here, but as a precaution for the sake of our lovely subreddit, I'm going to zip my lips and just say "figure that part out."
Once you have the video, we will use ffmpeg to extract cropped pngs of every single frame. I've already chosen an ideal cropping that minimizes the confusion introduced from text that we are not interested in.
First the Linux command for making a folder called "png" that the frames will go into
mkdir png
Then the ffmpeg command that extracts 182,881 (yea 50 minutes is a LOT of frames) 80 x 30 images around the price ticker area of the video.
ffmpeg -i "Roaring Kitty Live Stream - June 7, 2024-U1prSyyIco0.mp4" -vf "crop=80:30:160:240" png/dfv_%06d.png
The codeblocks will use Python. You can the rest of Step 1 in a notebook (but pytesseract and OpenCV would need to be installed).
Import the necessary libraries
import os import cv2 import pandas as pd import pytesseract
Loop through every still in the png folder using OCR to extract the text to a list. Warning: this step will likely take several hours.
files = sorted(os.listdir("png")) results = [] for file in files: path = os.path.join("png", file) img = cv2.imread(path) text = pytesseract.image_to_string(img) results.append(text)
Saves a csv of the raw extracted text
raw = pd.Series(results) raw.to_csv("price_extraction_raw.csv", index=False)

Step 2 - Data Cleaning

If your continuing from Step 1, you'll probably already have a local environment setup that you feel comfortable working in. If not, just upload the CSV of the raw data from the earlier download link to a hosted notebook and you'll be good to go.
First inside the notebook, run this cell to import the libraries and the CSV with the raw frame data.
import numpy as np import pandas as pd # Loads the csv raw = pd.read_csv("price_extraction_raw.csv").squeeze() # Strips out unintended newline characters. raw=raw.str.replace(r"\n", "", regex=True)
Since we ran the optical recognition over all video frames, there will be some junk in the data. Don't worry though, the structure of the prices will make it very easy to clean up.
# Shows the rows with detected text. raw.dropna()
https://preview.redd.it/nxzdtp8cwh5d1.png?width=289&format=png&auto=webp&s=d11ea0c8b0395d335fe6c4514d8153773e88865c
This small codeblock will take care of the false positives.
# Eliminate any characters that are not numbers or decimals. cleaned = raw.str.replace(r"[^\d\.]", "", regex=True).str.strip().replace("", None) # Clear any rows that have less than 5 characters (two digits, a period, and two decimal places). cleaned = np.where(cleaned.str.len() < 5, None, cleaned)
Since we used the entire video, the index accurately references the current frame number. To make it easier to navigate, we can add additional columns containing the minute, second, and frame number (that starts over every 60 frames).
# Converts the single column Series into a multi-column DataFrame. cleaned = pd.DataFrame(cleaned, columns=["price"]) # Creates the time columns cleaned["m"] = cleaned.index//3600 # 60 frames * 60 seconds per minute cleaned["s"] = (cleaned.index // 60) % 60 cleaned["f"] = (cleaned.index % 3600) % 60
At this point, we are almost done cleaning, but on some frames, the optical recognition accidentally detected a fake decimal at the end.
cleaned[cleaned["price"].str.len() > 5]
https://preview.redd.it/80mjac9zwh5d1.png?width=210&format=png&auto=webp&s=826fdddec734e183fe8724bb6e67980231ebb6ea
If we check those with the video, we can see that they are indeed valid (image is cropped here, but holds true for all), so it is safe to remove the last character here.
# Removes trailing characters when there are more than 5 of them. cleaned["price"] = np.where(cleaned["price"].str.len() > 5, cleaned["price"].str[:5], cleaned["price"]) # Changes the datatype to allow calculations to be made. cleaned["price"] = cleaned["price"].astype(float)
It will also be handy to have each frame indicate if the price reflects that of a trading halt.
# A list of the start and end of every trading halt in video (by price change). halts = [(10802, 19851), # Initial video halt (26933, 45977), # 2nd halt (61488, 80414), # 3rd halt (81325, 100411), # 4th halt (100778, 119680), # 5th halt (136992, 119680), # 6th halt (166473, 178210), # 7th halt ] # Uses the halt frames, to indicate halts in the dataset. cleaned["halted"] = np.where(cleaned["price"].isna(), None, False) # Assumes no unknown values for (start, end) in halts: cleaned["halted"] = np.where((cleaned.index >= start) & (cleaned.index < end), True, cleaned["halted"])
A quick preview showing the frames with indicated halts.
cleaned[cleaned["halted"] == True]
https://preview.redd.it/3usz3cnlyh5d1.png?width=255&format=png&auto=webp&s=5fa94f1e313029b7e568d7c8f4b0cc620a1dc17d

Step 3 - Calculating the bands

At this point, we've done enough to run some basic calculations across all of the frames. The following function will automatically do them for any given specified frame number.
def assess_halt(df, index): # The frame that is exactly 5 minutes before the frame examined. frame_offset = index - (5 * 60 * 60) # Since there will be no volume during a halt, we want to exclude # remove values where a halt is indicated. prices = df["price"].copy() prices = np.where(df["halted"] == True, np.nan, prices) # The price at the requested frame. halt_price = df["price"][index] # the frame right before (to rule out the halt suppressing the actual amount) price_before_halt = df["price"][index-1] # The average of all extractable prices in the five minute window. average = np.nanmean(prices[frame_offset:index]) # If there is insufficient at the specified frame, this ends calculations early. if np.isnan(average) or np.isnan(price_before_halt): return halt_price, price_before_halt, None, None, None, None, None # The count can help gauge robustness of the estimated average. count = np.count_nonzero(~np.isnan(prices[frame_offset:index])) seconds = count / 60 # The estimated bands are calculated by adding and subrtracting 5% from the average. band_low = average - .05 * average band_high = average + .05 * average # Logic to test whether the halt price or the price just before the halt is estimated to be beyond the 5% bands. outside = ((halt_price < band_low) or (halt_price > band_high)) or ((price_before_halt < band_low) or (price_before_halt > band_high)) return halt_price, price_before_halt, average, seconds, band_low, band_high, outside
Using the list of halts earlier, we can conveniently loop through and make some rough estimations.
rows = [] for halt in halts: row = assess_halt(cleaned, halt[0]) rows.append(row) assessment = pd.DataFrame(rows, columns=["halt_price", "price_before_halt", "price_average", "seconds_of_data", "band_low", "band_high", "outside_bands"]) assessment
https://preview.redd.it/hznds6dc7i5d1.png?width=721&format=png&auto=webp&s=9ccd4eb9358c78c77599cf30934f22e633a733e0

Thoughts

What is shown here is highly interesting! To see almost every recorded stop "inside the band" indicates that an overly zealous circuit breaker (or maybe even strategically priced trades to create halts) is not entirely outside the realm of possibility. But it should be noted that these estimations are by no means definitive. Most importantly this method does not account for fluctuations in trading volume. To do it right, we would need access to the raw trading data which as far as I know is unavailable.
I hope this can serve as a good starting point for anyone who is able to take this further.
Edited: just now to fix bug in final outside band logic.

🔗Comfortable J-Frame 2" IWB Holster for Appendix or Cross Draw Carry

https://preview.redd.it/34819v1zmh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e64aeba416cae58568d89a4b9dae6c96b025244
I recently had the chance to try out the Flex-Tuck holster for my S&W J-Frame revolver. The adjustable polymer clip made it super easy to attach and remove from my pants, allowing for a comfortable carry in various positions. I appreciate that the mouth design allows for effortless re-holstering, making it convenient for everyday use.
However, I noticed that the J-clip and hex key, while useful, could be a little more streamlined and compact for easy storage. All in all, this holster proved to be a practical and reliable choice for my J-Frame revolver.

🔗Secure, Durable T-Series Gun Holster: Truck Gun Holder

https://preview.redd.it/9zrvvfizmh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34723314f9652d2ca50c7b4ec2e518b665c04c7d
As a seasoned gun enthusiast, the T-Series Holster has been a vital addition to my collection. The thumb-activated retention makes it easy to draw my weapon, following the Master Grip Principle for added security. What really stands out, though, is the low-friction material used internally that allows for a smooth and effortless draw every time.
While sturdy and reliable, I noticed that the additional retention strap over the back of the slide felt a bit unnecessary at times. This, however, doesn't take away from the overall experience. Another noteworthy feature is the holster's sleek design, made of durable material that provides some much-needed protection while still keeping some bulk to a minimum.
The added bonus of the jacket-slot belt loop attached to the holster is truly appreciated, as it enhances the convenience and ease of use. However, I wish the QDR and 2-slot belt loop were included for a more complete package. Nonetheless, the T-Series Holster remains a top-notch choice for any discerning gun owner looking for a reliable and secure hold on their firearm.

🔗Basketweave Blackhawk Drop Leg Holster for Streamlight TLR 1 & 2 - Level 2 Retention

https://preview.redd.it/q22t70ozmh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d10acbe85b762fc882b7c9a9b5cca209bbc35ebc
As someone who's used to carrying their firearm for safety, the Blackhawk T-Series L2D Holster is a game-changer. The streamlined thumb-activated retention system allows for swift and secure access to your firearm when you need it most. It's not just about speed, though – the holster's master grip principle ensures you can draw your weapon under even the most intense conditions.
The combination of reinforced outer polymer and smooth hydrophobic lining adds to its durability, but it's the sound-dampening feature that truly sets it apart. Gone are the days of noisy holstering – with this bad boy, you can easily switch to stealth mode.
But here's the kicker: it's not all about the flashy features. Even with a minimalist design, it's clear that the materials have been carefully chosen to provide maximum protection without adding unnecessary bulk. And let's not forget that it comes with a convenient jacket slot belt loop attached. Overall, a perfect companion for any firearm enthusiast.

🔗Blackhawk Level 3 Holster for Glock P320 with TLR Lights

https://preview.redd.it/87p8i100nh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa8dfcfec0238f9aaaa32fbfa1c38462eb5cfe3c
I've had the pleasure of using the Blackhawk Level 3 Holster for my everyday carry. This holster boasts a thumb-activated retention that's both smooth and unobtrusive. Its low-friction design made for a breeze in my daily life. The holster even has a sound-dampening lining, stealthily allowing for quieter holstering and drawing.
Despite its minimal bulk, don't be fooled by the design's simplicity. The durable material offers a sense of protection from rough handling, all without encumbering me with unnecessary weight. I'm a fan of the fact that it adds that retention strap over the back of my slide - just an added layer of safety.
However, despite all of its positives, the holster's attachment belt loop might be too narrow for some, making it hard to accommodate different sized jacket slots. But overall, I can confidently say that the T-Series L3D is my go-to companion for reliable, quick access to my firearm.

🔗Intelligent Blackhawk Level 3 Duty Holster for Glk21/Tlr1/2 Bk

https://preview.redd.it/sg0sidg0nh5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05fb2b52658210a65e95282664cd3fb24a8efd0a
As a dedicated firearms enthusiast, I recently had the opportunity to test out the Blackhawk T-ser L3D for Glock 21/TLR-1/2 BK. From the moment I held it in my hands, I could sense a level of quality that exuded professionalism.
One of the standout features of this holster is its thumb-activated retention system, which feels incredibly natural and intuitive to use. This design element, coupled with the Master Grip Principle, offers a sense of security and readiness to the user. The level 3 retention strap ensures that the firearm is held securely, while the low-friction internal material allows for a smooth and effortless draw.
This holster boasts a sleek and durable design, which is essential for a daily carry item. The sound-dampening lining is a thoughtful addition that provides stealth drawing and holstering capabilities, making it a great choice for those who prefer a more discreet approach.
While the holster itself is well-built and performs admirably, I did come across a minor issue. The loop-to-holster attachment was slightly challenging to maneuver, and I found that the belt loop wasn't as seamless as some other options I have used in the past.
In summary, the Blackhawk T-ser L3D for Glock 21/TLR-1/2 BK is a high-quality, reliable, and practical holster that offers a smooth and efficient draw experience. Although it has a minor flaw in the belt loop attachment, it is not enough to detract from the overall value and performance of this product.

🔗Universal Duty Belt Flashlight Holder - Tactical Strap Mount

As someone who constantly takes their flashlight on expeditions, I can vouch for the VEGA Holster OD Green. It's a well-thought-out design that snugly holds your flashlight and prevents accidental drops or scratches. The strap-mounting allows for versatile carrying methods, making it perfect for both indoor and outdoor situations.
One of the standout features for me is its adjustable velcro bands. They help keep the flashlight secure, especially during those rough terrain days when sudden vibrations can jostle the flashlight out of its holster. The velcro lids are another handy inclusion that offers easy access to the flashlight while keeping it safely tucked away when not in use.
However, there's always room for improvement. I would love to see a larger variety of color options, as the OD Green is a bit of a niche choice. Moreover, the durability of the Nylon material could be improved; over time, it wears out and loses its strength.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the VEGA Holster OD Green is a reliable companion for all your flashlight needs. Its tactical design, versatility, and adjustability make it a must-have for anyone who relies heavily on their flashlight in their daily activities.

The 5.11 Tactical Flex Flash Bang Pouch is a versatile and practical accessory for anyone looking to securely store and transport their flash bang grenades. I found its FLEX-HT Mounting System incredibly convenient, allowing me to easily attach it to any MOLLE or HEXGRID platform. The pouch is constructed from durable N500D nylon, ensuring it withstands the rigors of daily use.
However, the pouch's elastic band could be a bit snug for larger flash bangs, which may require some extra effort to secure them in place. Nonetheless, the cover flap with its extra-wide hook and loop closure provides a secure closure and a sleek design. Overall, this pouch is a reliable and sturdy choice for anyone in need of a reliable flash bang holster.

Buyer's Guide

A Flash Bang Holster is designed for those seeking a secure and comfortable carry for their firearms. These holsters come with additional features that help with the concealment and quick deployment of the weapon. Look for reinforced stitching and strong locking mechanisms for added security.

Adjustability and Retention

A proper fit is crucial when choosing a Flash Bang Holster. Consider adjustable retention systems that allow you to customize the holster's grip on your firearm. Retention should be strong enough to secure the weapon without causing damage when removing it quickly.

Concealment and Comfort

Security Features

Security features such as locks, snaps, or automatic releases can provide added safety when carrying your firearm. Consider these features to help prevent accidental deployments or theft of your weapon.

Brand Reputation and Warranty

Do your research on the brand's reputation and customer reviews. A reliable brand will likely offer better quality products and may provide a warranty for any defects or issues.

Where to Buy

You can purchase a Flash Bang Holster from various sources, such as online marketplaces, local gun stores, or direct from the manufacturer. Make sure to choose a reputable seller and read reviews before making a purchase.

Cinderella Castle
Discontinued Olszewski Works of Art: It was announced recently that two of Bob's earlier Cinderella inspired works of art have been discontinued. (Read further for definition) They are: The Gallery of Light titled ~Cinderella's Romantic Night~ which was originally commissioned by Disney to celebrate Disney World's 50th Anniversary (October 2022 to April 2023). The issue price for the piece in 2022 was $100.00. The Gallery of Light shown on the top right is the largest of three sizes of the Gallery of Light boxes and it measures 6" h x 3" d x 4" w. Cinderella's Romantic Night
The second discontinued work of art by Olszewski is the Disney World's classic ~Cinderella Castle~ which he created at 1/120th scale. It was released in 2005 at the price of $250.00 and was the first piece released for Olszewski's Disney World's Mainstreet USA Collection. The beautifully crafted castle measures 12.5” h x 10.5” d x 11.5” w and the many LED lights embedded in the piece offer the viewer an inspiring mini-return to the Disney World park. The lights that accent the castle are turned on and off by depressing the tiny trash receptical Bob placed on the piece; and a timer automatically shuts them off after 15 minutes. Discontinued Defined: The Disney Theme Park Team explains the term "Discontinued" to be the same as "Out of Production" which means that pieces that are released as "Open Edition" and may be reissued again in the future. When the pieces are released as "Limited Editions" and sold out, the Team identifies these pieces as being "Retired" saying they will never be produced again.
Historically, since the first release, the Disneyland Mainstreet "Sleeping Beauty Castle" (shown) for the Disney Theme Parks in 2002, there has been no "Discontinued" work reissued. Also, the only work that has been released as a "Limited Edition" is the Gallery of Light "Tiki Room" (shown) which was limited to 500 pieces that was sold out and officially "Retired". 2024.06.09 07:19 ultiziman App that can make elden ring feel like 120 Hz

App that can make elden ring feel like 120 Hz
To summarize, there's some new tech in the market, Lossless Scaling, an app that can be bought on Steam for $7 USD and honestly it's a catch.
It has the ability to either Upscale your game, or Interpolate your frames.
This article is focusing on Interpolation (or doubling your frames). If you want to learn how the Upscale works, there's plenty of videos trending on YouTube to teach that.
To get to the point, this app works on any GPU, but the price is a certain amount of input lag. Some games will have more input lag than others, but depending on how much YOU personally care about input lag, this could or could not be a problem for you.
Elden Ring is already capped at 60 fps, and it's optimized. So the only work you need to put in is setting up the Lossless Scaling app as below:
https://preview.redd.it/a4bd6vjddh5d1.png?width=868&format=png&auto=webp&s=3c67cb9e2c38a1b7f9020c82b051f50ae3322fed
https://preview.redd.it/purgya5edh5d1.png?width=605&format=png&auto=webp&s=493b5ba516bda73e8bc2ad44ddce511f4ca179d2
https://preview.redd.it/x14m1cnedh5d1.png?width=457&format=png&auto=webp&s=8ac9fa0e82566614907983b1b0e11a7c47f35d95
Click the Scaling button and tab into your game, OR, have your game open and LS open, and hit CTRL+ALT+S while you're tabbed in-game, there will be a small "blip" and you should notice an immediate smoothness in frames. Your game in reality is running at 60 frames, but interpolation creates new frames for you, making a smoother frame rate, making your Elden Ring feel like it's running at 120 FPS.
Personally, I did not feel any input lag in Elden Ring, but there is some "artifacts" or "jaggedness" which is hardly noticeable as a price for a 120 FPS feeling Elden Ring.
I am no expert, this is the extent of my knowledge, if you guys find a way to make this work even better or reduce input lag, please put it in the comments : )
I am not affiliated with this app in any way, but I will say that it is some great tech. Even if it doesn't work well for you in Elden Ring, it has many uses in other games.

51 What happened to the coc/supercell support? They are just closing the Tickets (to many cases bla bla.) There's been an unfortunate bunch of situations behind the scenes that have impacted our support recently. It's not good enough and its frustrated us on the Clash team too. Supercell's Player Support team does have a bunch of great smart people and with recent new joiners, I believe they will figure out better ways to give you all the high quality support you deserve. Player Support Issues https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dg3so/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
52 Do you guys have some idea or plan to update the XP system in Clash of clans I mean other supercell games have already done that so, can we see some updates to the XP system? Also are you guys planing to add more leagues in the game? Your individual player XP isn't very meaningful or important in the game. I'm not sure we'd remove it but it's more likely make it less prominent and not on the main screen than make it more important. 53 The last couple AMAs you guys talked about the Invitation of new members getting a revamp, can you give us a little bit more info about that? We've been working hard on this and had been hoping to get this in for our June update. Unfortunately it wasn't quite done in time. We probably will share the idea in the next few eeks and get some feedback before launching it in a future update this year. 54 Hello Stuart. What is the difference between a general manager and a community manager? Do you make the updates for the game? Also when will customer support for clash of clans be improved? People have been complaining about customer support and how hard it is to actually get to a human to help them with their problem My role as General Manager is to make sure we have the right team to take care of everything that goes into making and running Clash, and making sure the team has everything they need to do their best work in all of their individual fields. Our Community managers are focused on being the bridge between our team and you players. Making sure we hear your thoughts on what we're doing, as well as making sure you hear what we're up to. Whether that's through our own channels directly or by helping our creator community. The only hands work for updates I do today is writing a bunch of the in-game texts still. The funny jokes, those are the ones I write honest, the ones that aren't funny, yeah those are somebody else. 😅 Quality of Life https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7d392x/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
55 Esteemed Sir I do beseech thee, with all the humility and earnestness of my heart, to consider the addition of a confirm button for the purpose of signing up to the revered "Legend Leagues" within thy esteemed game. Such a feature would surely be a boon to all who partake in the grandeur of thy creation, providing clarity and assurance to the valiant players.Thy consideration in this matter would be met with the deepest gratitude and enduring loyalty of thy devoted community. Yours in earnest supplication, Andy Esteemed Andy, I must kindly ask, is this a problem one has been encountering since farming in "fake legends" to get that little bit extra sweet ore? 56 Why does quick army queue fixed troops, instead of building the army I want, discarding and recylcling what's already there ? We've got revamps to army training planned which should solve this problem for you (and some others). It'll probably launch alongside the TH17 update if things go to plan. Quality of Life https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7d62fa/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
57 Can we perhaps see more QoL changes/editions to clan capital in the future such as co leaders and above being able to see who donated last to a building (to see if there are trolls purposefully putting their gold in expensive stuff/obstacles that the leaders don't want to invest into for now), being able to save army compositions, buttons to help navigate through the districts more efficiently, among other things? 1.5. When capital hall level 11 comes and new buildings and district hall levels being added, where do you think players would get the new buildings? Are we gonna be getting a shop of some kind for those, since having more ruins wouldn't make much sense and could ruin base layouts? 2. With the recent balance changes nerfing a lot of the defenses, players have been complaining that the game is getting too easy and the strategic aspects of the game is being compromised in favor of catering to a more general audience that doesn't have the time to learn complex attack strategies. What do you think about that, and do you think you guys can find other alternatives to create a balance between being strategic gameplay and casual appeal? 3. What year do you think was the greatest for Clash of Clans, and has 2024 been a great year for the game so far? 4. Do you keep any pets, and if so, what is it? 5. What do you think about the mobile gaming scene nowadays, and what factors do you think have made Clash of Clans be able to stand out from its competitors? 6. Are there any concepts that you (or the team) really like, but ultimately couldn't make it into the game due to it having fundamental issues that makes it either very difficult to balance, going against the game's inherent designs, or other reasons? Picking a few to answer We're currently focusing on the Home Village but figuring out how we'll keep on top of Capital QoL and other improvements. 1.5 In the past we've talked about doing some kind of defence swapping mechanic where you could move defenses between districts (similar to swapping defenses in Builder's Base). There'd need to be some kind of restrictions as we do like each district having its own identity and specialities. We had a troop concept based on the Blob, which absorbed things and got stronger and stronger. It was impossible to balance as it was getting stronger whilst the base got weaker. 58 Thanks Stuart for this AMA. I have a few questions: Will supercell continue to cater towards the casuals? I understand that casuals are the high spenders but back in the days, coc used to be a strategy based game. Let's say you have the capacity to make any changes to the game you want. What would you change and why? I'm sure you play the game. Do you support strategic rushing or maxing every townhall? Why? How exactly are balance changes done? Like based on what data? Can we expect another collab anytime soon? Clash has and always will be a game for a ton of different people for different playstyles. We'll do our best to keep adding things for different folk and let people customise their own experience. I'd love for Clash players to be able to make their own troops + defenses and come up with their own wild creations. This is a game where y'all make stuff for one another and it'd be great to go even more in that direction. I've always moved up to the next Town Hall when I feel done with the current one. I think that's the best way to play and that's gonna be different for different players. It's a combination of subjective feedback and looking into the use and 3 star rates of different things. Root Rider isn't the troop with the highest win-rate in legends, that's Super Barbarian, but it is used more often. We never want one strategy to be so dominant that you feel you must play that way. 59 Hello there Stuart, thanks for taking the time to do an AMA, I have several questions, both in and outside the game. I'm an Alliance Admin, can we see changed to the reddit recruitment system? I have spoken with many different large and small families or alliances, we all agree that the Reddit Recruitment System needs changing, some moderators seem to abuse their power and only favour Recruitment posts from Reddit based clans, many alliances and families have been banned from recruiting there without much reasons. Root Riders. They have been a challenge to balance, have you ever considered changing the housing space capacity? I don't understand how Root Riders are 12 housing space less than Electro Titans. Any plans to potentially revert a nerf or two and increase the housing space? That would balance the meta out and see other attacks shift back into the meta. Coming from an Alliance point of view, can we see love for the larger Alliances and Families in the community, currently supporter codes are only for Clash Content Creators and other significant parties like Clash King, but I feel like us Alliances and Families do create strong communities and provide a lot for the community. If the larger communities could be allowed Creator Codes we could create more events and host more giveaways for our members. Long story short, any plans to add larger Communities to the Supporter Code system? Or working with the larger Communities in other unique ways that can be positive both on a small and large scale? What is the Clash Teams plans for Quarter 3 and 4 of the year? Anything big we can keep our eyes out for? We'll keep an eye on how the Root Rider does after the current balance changes. But housing space adjustment is for sure an option, and it's been something we've done in the past. 61 will there ever be some reduction in the time/cost of laboratory upgrades, or possibly an opportunity for a 2nd lab upgrade slot outside of just using the goblin builder? lab upgrades tend to take longer for me than anything else. secondly, in town hall 16 i can see an attempt to save space in the base by combining defenses. are there more planss to compress the base further so new defensive buildings can be built without overcrowding being a problem? finally do you think there will be a crimson and black themed town hall because that would be sick Lab times take a bit longer than buildings because most players don't use every troop/spell/siege so don't worry about finishing those before moving on up to the next Town Hall. We added Research Potions for Raid Medals so players wanting more balance could get there. But we'll keep monitoring player progress to make sure this stays healthy (and there's definitely some Town Halls more unbalanced than others). 63 Any plans to increase the 30s scout time in legends league / friendly challenges? With all of the decisions to make at th16 it’s becoming increasingly difficult to come up with a suitable plan in time We have something coming in the June update that can help you use the scout time more effectively. But we discussed increasing it at the same time and ultimately decided not to. The worry of having too long a scout time is everyone feels they have to use it, and attacking takes longer. We will see how things go after the June update and decide if further changes are needed. 65 Would you consider allowing players to use one supertroop per week for free? I feel like they are very underused due to the 25k DE price, and this would make attacks more fun Yeah we're not happy with the Super Troop system either. 66 Is there going to be a possibility to test out new equipment on a high/maxed out level before having to invest resources into them? For example in friendly challenges? Or with a magic item that maxes equipment for a certain time period? I was thinking about letting us play with them in the playground like super troops That's an option we've been thinking about too. 67 Hi Stuart, do you plan on implementing a tournemant mode or some other kind of mode, where troops and buildings are differently balanced, so it is more challanging for the top players and the casuals are still able to have fun? 70 Hey! Why don't we have the Clash of Clans user interface good looking as any other supercell games out there. I mean every other supercell game animations and user interface are an absolute pleasure to watch. How do you feel about these things to be added into the game. Redesigned Clan Chat with better functionality and animations. 2024.06.09 06:56 PristineSilver3278 Any flaws in my camera choosing process?

So, have been lurking here for some time, and finally decided to post a first question.
TL;DR; Want to buy a new Leica M11-Monochrom, but still on the fence.

Intro

Long, long ago (15+ years), bought Canon EOS 50D Kit as a first DSLR camera (inspired by my mom's very-very old film DSLR one).
Used that one for a while - but eventually found out, that it's too bulky, often stays at home because of that. Eventually have had it replaced with Canon EOS M, and even invested some money in extra lenses.
EOS M was fine, though have had two problems:
  1. Lack of light sensitivity - essentially can't make good pictures in the dark.
  2. Very slow autofocus - no phase autofocus, so camera focus wiggles forward and backward, trying to guess the focus direction. Sometimes hits wrong direction, and doesn't focus on at all.
I have been dreaming about full-frame camera that would be very light-sensitive, also should be mirrorless - not to be bulky. Additionally, I did think of having a native black-and-white, to eliminate Bayer filter, and have even more light.
So seems there are not too many cameras left that matches my choice.
I rented Leica M10-Monochrom (with Voigtlander 35mm F2 lenses) for the weekend trip to Vegas from my local store, and would say, that I fell in love. I made ~1000 shots. Obviously deleted most of them (out of focus, or just poor composition). Here are some that I can share (without people, since I don't have an explicit approval to share) - https://photos.app.goo.gl/kRYfvM6NDkw1kyY36
So after that trip, I believe I did fall in love - almost all photos did look "professsional" and deep, with the very minor touch in Lightroom.
So now I have multiple thoghts:

Rangefinder or not rangefinder?

I think I did pretty good job in Vegas, and seems can work fine with rangefinder. I don't like that I don't get "what you see is what you get" as with mirror camera, but on other end - it's I have pretty sharp eyes, and rangefinder is easy enough to work with. Also I don't like some parallax effect - but that's probably something I can deal with. With 28-35-50mms, that I'm probably going to use - rangefinder should be good enough.

Buy monochrome or not?

Talked with wife, and decided to go with monochrome - since we still have good old Canon EOS M, and bunch of EF-M lenses (maybe buy a new body eventually?).

Buy M11 or M10?

Read bunch of reviews, and seems some early firmware issues with M11 are already ironed out. I love bigger internal memory storage in M11, and love more megapixels. Some reviews on youtube show that it matters. Not sure if I would need electronic shutter. USB-C is also nice to have - less wires to take to the trips.

Buy new or used?

I can afford buying a new one - the price bites, but I doubt I'd save too much if I go with used one - Leicas don't depreciate fast. So decided to pay a little bit extra for being the first owner.

Which lens to get?

I wonder which first lens should I buy with Leica? Was told that Noctilux/Summilux, might be waste of money(and probably not ready to spend that much anyway), since there wouldn't any margin for focus errors with wide open lens, especially given it's rangefinder camera. I'll probably get that 35mm Voigtlander, since I really enjoyed it - but what else? I believe used length should be good enough, while I'm in search. Do I need APO or ASPH lens? Is chromatic aberration a thing on Monochrome cameras (I bet it should be). Is it a visible on 60MP matrix (I think it should be visible as well).
Can you suggest any extra articles/videos to watch?

2024.06.09 06:55 RajaKuman My first 100 miles

My first 100 miles
TL;DR: I am happy with my Bird A-Frame bike so far and I hope it can last for at least 2 years.
——-
After considering many “cheap” ebikes, my choice landed on the Bird A-Frame Ebike. I got it for $699 from Amazon (799 minus 100 voucher), got $100 refund due to paint chips in the body, and put that money back for small upgrades. It came in the beginning of May, but I didn’t use it for 3 weeks because of the d*mn rain and a business trip. So practically, I used it for 2 weeks, mainly for short commutes to work (~8 miles). I took it once for a longer ride to DC, ~20 miles (through Beach Dr and Rock Creek Trail, in case you are familiar with the area).
Unboxing: it was pretty easy, it took me around 1 hour (with my 5yo trying to “help”). The instructions are pretty easy to follow. No need for extra equipments. Le wife helped to install the front tire.
Ride: using all default parts, the ride felt comfortable and I felt safe. My commute is mainly going uphill, passing some dirt roads and bike lanes. I mainly used assist level 1 and rarely used the throttle except to give the first push. Battery life is good, I recharged it every 2-3 days with 30% remaining. The light is great for a night ride, but would still recommend some extra light for safety. The built in alarm is wonderful, made me feel safer to park it outside the station (bike & ride WMATA)
Some cons with the default parts: The seat was a little bit too hard for me but acceptable. The pedal felt really cheap and it was very noisy. The brake is extremely loud, but works fine. Removing the battery is pretty hard without bumping into the frame. It is pretty annoying since I remove the battery daily when I park it outside the office.
Upgrades (almost all of them from Amazon) 1. Rear racks: helpful for carrying some groceries. I bought Buschwacker panniers from Goodwill. 2. Seat and Seat post: Zoom Shock Absorber and IPow high-density memory foam. This increases the height of the bike, so only for “taller” rider (I am 6ft and 200lbs). I also bought a 9 bucks saddle cover from Aldi, it was good, but not enough for me. 3. Pedal: rockbros aluminium pedal 4. Rain cover: puroma bike cover 5. Battery cover:XIUWK battery cover (too big, doesn’t fit well, but good enough) 6. Tow bar for my son’s bike: trailgator. I installed it on the original seat post and seat. 7. Brake pads: AGPTEK (not installed yet, soon) 8. Phone holder from Aldi: pretty meh. 9. U and cable lock: I forgot the brand, from Amazon. Pretty sturdy.
I love the default parts, but the upgrades made it better. There are some occasional noises that I have no clue where they come from, but I guess a quick trip to the bike mechanic can solve it. I am also still considering to find the best way to put a tracker (airtag), any suggestions?
IMO, for the price, it works pretty well, I would recommend people to really consider it. I just hope that it can last for a few more years. I bought the Amazon warranty hoping that they would take care of the problems. Let’s see, will keep this subreddit updated.
If you have any questions, let me know.

2024.06.09 06:39 griaffragi Help! BestBuy Switcheroo: Ordered Polaroid I-2, Received Cheaper Model Instead

My gf bought me a Polaroid I-2 Camera from BestBuy.com on April 7th and saved it as an anniversary gift, which she gave to me yesterday on June 7th for our anniversary. When she first received the item, the camera box was the right I-2 box and was all sealed and intact, so she didn't bother opening it to check for its content (plus it is a gift). But then when I opened it yesterday, it was a completely different camera (Polaroid Now), coming out of the sealed I-2 box. And that is only ~1/5 price of the original I-2. Apparently either a mistake has been made by the manufacturer at packing, or there was some switcheroo going on. I've read about stuff like airpods and chips being switched, but never imagined that for a Polaroid.
So I contacted BestBuy CS online, and they said that I can return the camera at any BestBuy store for store credit. I also asked about the possibility of an exchange, and they said exchange cannot be guaranteed and is at discretion of the store manager. Great, sounds like this can be easily resolved.
With that said, my gf and I went to a physical BestBuy store today and talked to their CS manager hoping to resolve this. She refused to offer neither return or exchange, and her reasoning is that the camera is out of the 14-day return window, and that they cannot verify if we personally switched the camera. I guess this makes sense from their perspective (though if someone were to switch out the cameras, they'd definitely return it right away, not 2 months later). But from our side, we paid $550 and ended up with a $100 commodity, which is very frustrating, not to mention a trip to the store just to resolve this.
Any suggestions on what else we can do at this moment? We've contacted Polaroid to see if they can track the missing I-2 Camera / the Polaroid Now we received through SN, but not sure if that'd help much. Perhaps CC chargeback? One concern there is my gf's credit history is quite short (she opened her CC just last November), and we're not confident whether the chargeback would go through.
I guess the worst case is that we ended up paying $450 for two lessons (not too bad compared to college tuition lol): 1. Always open the box right away to check the item, even if you're planning to use it later; 2. When opening the box, shoot an unboxing video of you doing so, so that later the vendor cannot frame you for switcheroo.

2024.06.09 06:33 Hi-C_Purformance2836 [Landlord MI - USA] Tenants damaged washer; bottom frame and door are detached; how to charge for damage?

Tenants somehow damaged washer: the frame and door are detached and hanging by a couple bolts. Looks like it was intentional; I can’t possibly see how this would happen by accident.
Is this considered vandalism? Also, washer won’t work now that frame is detached. Do I charge for brand new washer? With inflation, it may be more expensive than original price 5 years ago

🔗Fireside Ember Ground Mat: Food-grade Silicon Protection for Fire Pits and Grills

https://preview.redd.it/39iwaiolug5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66adb2aaab78aa781faaece9d6681386bd49b211
Last weekend, I ventured into the wild with a group of friends and our trusty camping gear. Among the essentials we packed was the Fireside Ground Ember Mat. After a long day of hiking, we set up our fire pit, only to find that our grassy campsite was covered in embers. With the help of the Fireside Ember Mat, however, we had nothing to fear.
The mat's food-grade silicon coating helped us save a few dropped hotdogs, and it was a breeze to clean up. We quickly noticed that the reflective edging added an extra level of safety as night fell, ensuring we could see the mat in the darkness.
However, the mat isn't perfect. While it's compatible with a variety of fire pits, including charcoal, electric, and gas grills, it's not ideal for use on grass. We encountered a couple of incidents where embers escaped the fire pit and burned the grass beneath. But overall, the Fireside Ground Ember Mat was a reliable addition to our camping arsenal, and we've since recommended it to friends.
In terms of its sturdy build and durability, users have praised the mat's heat resistance and its ability to withstand constant exposure to fire. The mat's versatility and lightweight design also add to its appeal.
From my experience, the Fireside Ground Ember Mat is a worthwhile investment for anyone who wants to ensure their camping trips remain safe and free from mishaps. It's easy to use, clean, and adds an extra layer of protection around your fire pit. With its helpful features and overall effectiveness, it's a must-have for any outdoor enthusiast.

🔗Fire-Resistant Grill Mat for Deck Protection

Imagine a sunny day, and the smell of barbecue wafting through the air. You're enjoying a delicious meal with your family and friends, but your worry about the mess that comes after is unavoidable. Protebox understands that hassle, which is why they created their extra-large 60 x 40-inch Under Grill Mats.
My experience with Protebox felt like a breath of fresh air. As someone who loves hosting get-togethers, I was always concerned about the mess left behind after grilling. Protebox's mat solved that problem with ease. It collects more splatter and residue than any other grill mats I've used, keeping my deck and lawn clean and stain-free. Plus, the material it's made of feels tough and durable. Despite being exposed to the elements, it's easy to clean, reusable, and can even fold up for storage.
The mats are coated with fireproof fiberglass and silicone, allowing it to endure heat up to 2000°F without burning. In my grilling tests, it held up against even the hottest temperatures without showing any signs of wear or tear. To make cleaning a breeze, the surface doesn't absorb stains and is effortlessly wiped clean.
In addition to grilling, Protebox's Under Grill Mat is versatile and compatible with fire pits and fireplaces as well. One important note to consider, especially if you're planning on using it under fire pits - keep a 10-inch distance between the pit and the mat to prevent any mishaps.
As a user, I can confidently say Protebox Grill Mats are the ultimate solution for anyone seeking a mess-free grilling experience.

🔗Large, Waterproof, Easy-to-Clean Grill Mat for Outdoors

These under grill mats by UBeesize have been a game-changer for me when it comes to outdoor cooking. Made with high-quality fiberglass, they effectively protect my floor from grease, gas, or any other charred spillages. The large size of these mats, measuring 48" x 65", ensures that even my deck or floor – whether made of wood or anything else – stays safe from oil, sauces, charcoal, and high temperatures. Plus, the fact that they're waterproof means no more stressing about grease or liquid soaking through.
When I'm done using the mat, it's a breeze to clean thanks to its easy-to-wash design. Simply throw it in the washing machine and watch as all the mess comes off effortlessly. It even comes with the added convenience of being foldable – perfect for storing and transporting during camping trips or outdoor activities. Though they may have some fold marks upon arrival, they disappear within a few days, proving to be a small price to pay for such a useful tool.

🔗Multi-Layered Fire Pit Mat for Protection and Insulation

I have recently used Texfire's fireproof mat to protect our wooden flooring from the sparks, embers, and ashes that our fireplace produces. The carpet is a perfect blend of style and functionality, featuring a beautiful plush texture on one side and a flame-retardant silicone coating on the other. I found the carpet to be highly effective in retaining the heat and fire materials, ensuring our floor remained safe and protected.
However, I did notice a small downside - the carpet's dimensions would have been more convenient if they were slightly larger, covering a larger area of our fireplace. Despite this minor issue, I am still very pleased with the product and the level of protection it provides to our floors. The multilayer design offers excellent thermal insulation, making it suitable for various types of flooring, including wood, tiles, and parquet.
Overall, Texfire's fireproof mat is an excellent investment for anyone who wants to enjoy the warmth and comfort of a fireplace without worrying about the potential damage it might cause to their floors.

🔗Outdoor Fireproof Grill Mat for Decks and Patios

I've been using this Brinman Fire Grill Mat for a while now and it's been an absolute game-changer for my outdoor grilling experience. Made of heat-resistant fiberglass fabric, it really lives up to its claim of withstanding high temperatures, keeping my deck and patio safe from hot embers and sparks.
One of the best things about this mat? It's easy to clean! The waterproof, oil-proof design keeps spills and splatters non-absorbing, making cleanup a breeze—just use mild soap and water or a garden hose. Even better, the mat foldable for convenient storage and transportation, which is a great bonus.
However, one thing to consider is the size, which is a bit larger than I initially expected – 65 x 40 inches, to be precise. This could be a bit too big for some outdoor grills, so I recommend measuring yours before placing your order.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this mat to anyone looking for a reliable, heat-resistant, and easy-to-clean solution for their outdoor grilling.

🔗Fireproof and Waterproof Under Grill Mat

Recently, I got my hands on this nifty large under grill mat during a barbecue spree with friends. It was larger than your average 60"x42" mat, allowing us to protect a bigger area of the floor. The fiberglass construction made for an incombustible mat that kept our patio, lawns, and decks safe from harmful contaminants. Plus, the silicone coating was waterproof, oil-proof, and pressure resistant - an all-in-one solution for those clumsy accidents.
Once the barbecue was over, the smooth, low-adhesion surface made cleaning oil stains a breeze with warm water and dish soap. Its foldable design made storage a breeze and carried it easily on vacations. Overall, it was a practical, eco-friendly, and hassle-free solution to outdoor grilling. However, I had to wait for a month to receive it and the country of origin was China. Nevertheless, the benefits outweighed the potential inconvenience.

🔗Portable Fire-Resistant Outdoor Grill Mat for Various Grills

As a foodie and outdoor enthusiast, I've come across several grill mats over the years, but I must say the BAIPOK Large Under Grill Mat stands out for its double-sided fireproof and oil-proof features. The quality of this mat is top-notch and it's sturdy enough to withstand high temperatures and rough handling.
One of the most impressive features is its water and oil resistance, which not only protects my floor but also makes cleanup a breeze. With its unique foldable design, storage has never been easier. Moreover, it suits a wide variety of indoor and outdoor scenarios, making it a versatile purchase.
But, like any product, it isn't perfect. I had to pay close attention to the precautions during use as I've seen a few mishaps when users don't follow proper guidelines. Yet, the pros far outweigh the cons, making it a worthy investment for anyone who enjoys grilling, barbecuing, or simply spending time around a fire pit with friends and family.

I've been using the 60 x 40 Inch Under Grill Mat as my go-to solution for outdoor grilling and fire pit sessions, and it's been a game-changer. This double-sided mat is not only fireproof, but it also offers triple-layer protection against the high-heat damage caused by BBQ pits, outdoor grills, and fire pits.
One of the things I love about this mat is its large size, which ensures that it covers a large area, keeping my deck, patio, and grass free from oil, sauce, charcoal, and other high-temperature stains. And it's surprisingly easy to clean – a quick rinse with water, a wipe with a damp cloth or even soap, and it's as good as new.

🔗Heat-Resistant Fireplace Mat for Patio Safety

I recently tried out the Svepndic fireplace hearth mat, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer for anyone looking to protect their floors and patios from those pesky embers. The first thing I noticed was just how easy it was to install - no messy assembly required!
The mat itself is made of a double-layer fiberglass material that provides excellent fire and thermal insulation. It's designed to withstand temperatures up to 1832°F, which means it's more than capable of handling even the most intense fires without breaking down. But don't worry, it won't melt away in front of your eyes. It's been designed to slowly isolate or even snuff out small fires, ensuring the safety of your family.
One of the best features of this mat is its non-slip silicone cloth on the front and back. This clever design prevents the mat from shifting around on your floor, which could be a potential hazard if you're not careful. And when it comes to cleaning, this rustic mat is a dream. You can wash it directly with water, or even use a machine if you prefer. For continuous use, a vacuum cleaner or a good shake should do the trick.
This versatile mat is perfect for use in a range of settings such as kitchens, fireplaces, camping trips, barbecues, and even decks and patios. It effectively protects your floors from those infamous sparks and embers, making it an essential piece of gear for any busy home or camping enthusiast. Its large size ensures it covers more ground than you'd think, making it ideal for bigger spaces.
Just a couple of practical tips - make sure to attend to fireplaces without fire screens, and remember to manually measure your space before installation. Also, keep an eye on the colors, as slight differences due to different screens are possible.
Overall, this Svepndic fireplace hearth mat is a worthy addition to any fire-prone home or outdoor area. It's easy to use, sturdy, and most importantly, it keeps your floors safe from the perils of fire. Highly recommended!

🔗Large PVC Grill Mat: Protect Floor from Grease, Embers & Ashes

https://preview.redd.it/4nfumi9pug5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2e4443184214ef49810dd14641719f65c22e7d3
Using this 65" x 36" Calvana PVC mat under my grill has been a game-changer. It's been perfect for protecting my deck from the hot grill and charcoal, as well as catching those pesky grease splatters that would otherwise ruin my day.
Being made of non-flammable composite PVC is a big plus, as I don't have to worry about it catching fire while grilling out. The superior thermal insulation added an extra layer of protection, ensuring that the surrounding decking or floors remain cool to the touch.
This multipurpose mat has been incredibly versatile, not just for the grill, but also for various other kitchen tools and appliances. I love how it protects my garage floor from oil spills and lawn mower grease. Plus, it's been a lifesaver in terms of keeping my deck scratch-free from bikes and exercise equipment.
Maintaining cleanliness doesn't feel like a chore anymore, thanks to this mat. I simply use a paper towel to clean away any dirt or spills, or household cleaners for the more stubborn messes. The double-sided, non-slip checker plate pattern keeps the mat in place, even on slippery surfaces, making it an absolute must-have addition to any outdoor grill setup.

🔗High-Quality Double-Sided Fireproof Grill Mat

https://preview.redd.it/0ii04jkpug5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3383bc2c1a73d806355c2eb504e0fd0ef8c2af44
I recently tried out the BAIPOK 36" Fire Pit Mat, and I have to say, it's a game-changer for any outdoor gatherings around the fire. The double-sided design with fireproof floor mats really doubles the quality and insulation, providing an extra layer of protection that I appreciate.
However, the foldable nature of these mats does come with a drawback - it can crease when packed, and those creases might take a few days to disappear. After spending countless weekends at home grilling and enjoying outdoor barbecue parties, I found myself in desperate need of a protective solution for my patio's surfaces. I stumbled upon this fire pit mat—the perfect heat and grease-resistant companion for those warm, summer evenings.
The fireproof mat, made of glass fiber-coated aluminum foil, has proven to be an invaluable addition to my outdoor cooking setup. Its ability to withstand a high temperature of up to 95% radiant heat is impressive, to say the least. Not only did it safeguard my deck, but it also protected my guests from accidental spills and splatters.
I must admit, I was initially skeptical about the mat's lightweight construction, but it surprised me by being quite portable and easy to store when not in use. Its foldability adds to its convenience, making it a perfect accessory for outdoor gatherings.
One thing I noticed, though, was its shape. It was designed with a modern, round appearance, which means it might not fit under square or rectangular fire pits. This isn't a major drawback, but it's something to consider if you have a non-round setup.
The mat also does a great job of preventing heat damage and grease spills on grass and patios, creating a safe fireproof barrier for various surfaces. However, I'd advise keeping a decent distance (at least 4 inches) between it and the cooker to ensure maximum insulation and prolong its life.
Overall, this fire pit mat has become an essential part of my outdoor cooking experience. It protects my patio while adding a touch of sophistication and style to my gatherings. I highly recommend this heat-resistant and splash-guard mat to anyone in search of a reliable, versatile, and stylish solution to safeguard their surfaces from the harsh realities of grilling.

Made of sturdy heat-resistant materials, it prevented the occasional flying embers from causing any potential harm. One summer, I had a close call with my grilling set-up. I dropped a charcoal from the starter bucket on my wooden deck, which thankfully didn't catch fire. It was a fortunate incident, but it made me realize how important it is to have a protective mat for such situations. That's when I came across this "Fireplace Hearth Mat Half Round. "
The mat measures 46 by 26 inches, making it just the right size to cover my grill while it sizzles away. It's made from double-layer fiberglass material, which ensures excellent thermal and fire insulation and allows it to withstand temperatures up to 1,832°F. No more worries about starting a fire on my deck.
Another thing that stood out to me was its high-quality non-slip silicone cloth on both front and back. This prevents the mat from slipping and sliding, adding an extra layer of safety. The material has a stylish look; it blends well with the rest of my outdoor decor.
Although the mat is designed to withstand high temperatures, it's possible to cause it to melt if it's exposed to excessive heat for a prolonged period; this could result in a slow-burning situation, so remember to keep it away from direct flames and heat sources.
As for cleaning, it's super simple. You can simply wash it with water or even throw it in the washing machine. If you're using it for extended periods, it's always a great idea to use a vacuum cleaner or shake off the dust to keep it clean.
This mat can be used in various applications. You can place it under your grill during a barbecue, around your fire pit, or even on your patio when it's time to roast marshmallows. Its large size effectively protects floors from spark embers, making it a great safety feature for any outdoor event.
