"I think you should sleep on the couch..."

2024.05.16 13:24 bumshuffle4 "I think you should sleep on the couch..."

I'll try my best to keep this short as possible. Sorry I'm advance for formatting.
Recently became a family of 3 (10yr, 2yr, and now a newborn) a month ago, and needless to say it's thoroughly kicking my butt. Trying to be a good dad and husband but I feel like I'm struggling.
Not enough hours in the day to fully get anything done with making sure my wife has everything she needs to take care of the baby, bonding with baby and giving necessary breaks for wife, kids are okay, happy, and bedtime routines, pets stay alive and don't shit in the house, staying employed, keeping everyone fed and house isn't a complete disaster, and keeping up with my school work (taking online classes to complete bachelor's). Start my day around 4/5am, at work 6-230, pick up kids from school and daycare at 330, home by 4, in bed by 930/10, finally asleep around midnight, repeat.
During the night feeding when the toddler was a newborn-3ish months I changed the diaper, handed them off to the wife to breastfeed (or kept them and did bottle), stayed awake and took the baby after they were done feeding and put them back in the crib to ensure my wife got as much rest as possible. Our lives then were significantly less stressful and busy 2 years ago than what they are now. I'm not waking up or staying awake for our newest baby like I did last time and the wife feels like I'm more of a burden and is becoming increasingly resentful because I'm asleep, half awake, snoring, moving around in my sleep, and generally not getting the same help as last time.
This brings us to this morning, wife asked me to do something but I wasn't moving fast enough because I wasn't fully awake. She finally snaps, tells me I'm not helping enough and lists everything off that I said previously and tells me "I think you should sleep on the couch... You're no help and only get in the way, it's easier when you aren't here" and I'm crushed feeling like a failure. Don't know if I just needed to vent or what but that actually felt really good finally being able to tell someone something about the craziness that my life has become
What am I doing wrong? Any advice is welcome, feel free to set me straight and to suck it up.

Negative Trait: X
Starting Title(s): Steward of House Bolton
Starting Location: The Dreadfort
Biography:
The Sons Rebellion. Recolected upon as a time of great pain and hardships for many and all. A season of blood that pitted brother against brother, friend against friend, amongst the northmen. An era where trusts and old allegiances meant little and less. Nigh on near the end of the reckless turmoil, in the thick of the stabbings and bloodletting, Rickard Bolton was born, a young babe. Nary a moon came and passed before Lord Royce Bolton passed the babe off to Lord Stark, to serve as a ward, to serve as a hostage.
Winterfell. A home, of sorts, away from home. The Starks were never outright cruel to the young Bolton boy as he aged. There were no beatings or punishments without having rightfully earned them, but they were always cold and otherwise distant. Never a one wanting to overly welcome the youth, for he was not family, never would be, merely a ward in a home that was never his.
Weeks became months, months became years, all blurring by. Rumors trickled in from the outside world, or the occasional snippet of information passed off from one of the Stark children, meant as kindness or insult, Rickard could never say. He’d a brother they said. A sickly cripple born from an ugly hag in the cells of the Dreadfort. Later a sister they said. Born a healthy girl, only she slayed her mother in coming into the world. The hardest news he denied for some time until the words came from enough mouths it had to be true, Lord Bolton, his own father had died.
Old age they said it so, the ghost of Calon Bolton himself in the night did it they’d said, the bastard Snow has his hands red they’d said. It didn’t matter what lie or what rumor he gathered up, they all pointed the same way, the old man was dead to the bones. Rickard had spent many nights foolishly dreaming childish fantasies. Imagining the day his father would come, confront the Starks, demand his return home. Now that would never come to pass. He was left to only imagine what the man once had looked like, what home looked like.
By the men of the castle Rickard learned his skills, smarts, and wisdoms of the world. He had a natural tendency towards letters and writing. He’d learned to hunt, to hawk, and play with the others his age. By the Starks rule he was shown how to walk the path of a “just” lord and to scorn the paths of cruelty. He’d taken to embrace the free time he’d earn to spend within the confines of the Godswood, a small sanctuary amidst the storm. In the practice yard his hand grew to favor the caressing haft of an axe over any other tool of pain, though the bruises he earned were many.
Years blurred by, life became a routine of uneventfulness apart from the occasional hunts and small feasts. Eventually when he became of age his hand was bound and wed to that of Dacey Stark, within Winterfell before the Old Gods to witness the pact. An attempt to suture old wounds, to mend the wrongs of yesterdays brothers. United, the two departed the heart of the north and set course for home, for the Dreadfort. Within a years passing a young girl would be born. Still uncertain with his place in the world, Rickard would prepare to embark upon a pilgrimage, to find the answers his soul sought to life.

2024.05.16 13:23 BarracudaCold3941 I’m back at ground zero. How do I make around $50K to provide for my family?

I’m 28 years old with a bachelors in Psychology (2018) and a full-stack coding bootcamp completion (2023). The latter of which has yet to serve me well, haha. Living in Columbia, SC.
For the past 5 years, I have worked full-time for two different churches. I just found out that at the end of August, my full-time job will be moved to part-time (if I still want it).
This leaves me in need for a full-time job and an openness to really jump into anything that can provide and have a good work-life balance. I’m definitely not afraid of working hard, I just want to be present with my family (wife and 3 young kids) in the evenings.
I’ve always picked things up quickly and generally consider myself someone that anyone would want on their team—I love working with people, serving and encouraging people, and always keep a positive attitude. It’s just that employers can’t know any of that until they give me an initial shot, and my resume isn’t popping off the page!
Any guidance or advice is welcome. TIA!

2024.05.16 13:22 RockSmith804 More Than Memories: Creating Lasting Friendships and Finding Your Home Away from Home

Travel is often about more than just seeing new places; it's about the connections we make and the friendships that can last a lifetime. When you travel slowly and immerse yourself in local cultures, you find a deeper, more meaningful experience. Sindhudurg, a serene district along Maharashtra’s Konkan coast, is a place where travelers can truly feel at home, thanks to its warm-hearted people, rich traditions, and inviting homestays. Here, you’ll not only explore historical sites like Sawantwadi Palace but also forge connections that turn strangers into lifelong friends.
Staying at a homestay in Sindhudurg offers more than just a place to sleep. It’s an opportunity to live with local families, share meals, and participate in their daily lives. This kind of accommodation provides a unique, personal touch that hotels and resorts simply cannot match. Your hosts, often eager to share their culture and traditions, welcome you into their homes with open arms, creating an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality.
In a homestay, you quickly become part of the family. You might find yourself helping with the cooking, learning to prepare traditional Malvani dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. These shared experiences, such as cooking and eating together, break down barriers and create a sense of belonging. As you swap stories and laughter over a home-cooked meal, you realize that these moments are building blocks for lifelong friendships.
One of the highlights of any visit to Sindhudurg is a trip to the magnificent Sawantwadi Palace. This historic palace, nestled in the heart of Sawantwadi town, is a treasure trove of cultural heritage. The palace is not just an architectural marvel but also a living museum of the region’s royal history and craftsmanship. By visiting Sawantwadi Palace with your homestay hosts, you gain a deeper understanding of its significance. They share personal anecdotes and historical tidbits that you wouldn’t find in any guidebook, making the experience far more enriching.
As you wander through the palace’s grand halls and lush gardens, you feel a connection to the past and to the people who have maintained these traditions. The intricate wooden toys and Ganjifa playing cards crafted by local artisans reflect the town’s rich cultural heritage. Purchasing these handcrafted items not only supports local artisans but also creates a tangible link to your journey, a souvenir imbued with the stories and friendships formed during your stay.
Beyond the palace, Sindhudurg’s natural beauty provides a stunning backdrop for further adventures. Exploring the region’s pristine beaches, verdant forests, and tranquil backwaters, often guided by your homestay hosts, deepens your connection to the land and its people. These shared experiences in nature, from hiking and bird watching to simply enjoying a sunset by the sea, strengthen the bonds formed during your stay.
In Sindhudurg, the friendships you create extend beyond your immediate hosts. The close-knit community welcomes visitors as one of their own. Participating in local festivals, attending community gatherings, or simply engaging in everyday village activities allows you to connect with a wider circle of people. These interactions often lead to heartfelt conversations and mutual respect, further cementing your sense of belonging.
Leaving Sindhudurg, you take with you more than just memories of beautiful landscapes and historical sites. You carry the warmth of the people, the shared laughter, and the sense of having found a home away from home. The friendships you’ve made, grounded in genuine hospitality and shared experiences, continue to flourish long after you’ve returned home.
In conclusion, travel in Sindhudurg is about creating lasting friendships and finding a home in the heart of a different culture. Whether it’s through the intimate experience of a homestay in Sindhudurg or the historical charm of Sawantwadi Palace, each moment is an opportunity to connect and grow. This kind of travel enriches your soul, leaving you with friendships and a sense of belonging that truly last a lifetime. So, embark on this journey with an open heart, ready to find your home away from home.

2024.05.16 13:09 sockefeller To those who have forgiven their mildly no's ?

I welcome all insight here but I am not seeking anger. I am seeking success stories of redeemed or tolerated relationships (if there are any!)
My husband and I had to go to couples counseling because of the strain my MIL has put on me and my marriage. We have graduated to going as-needed and me remaining in individual counseling. My therapist and I have identified that I struggle with trust and forgiveness, hence why the MIL issue has boiled up to this point.
At every opportunity for me and SO to have a significant life event, she has made it about herself. And then I felt crazy because my SO couldn't understand why that was an issue (he does now! And he sticks up for me, and is understanding when I put myself first. We are even working on him calling out her narcissistic tendencies first, so I don't feel like I'm always nitpicking/going crazy)
The thing is, and I don't know if my husband understands this, is this woman has pushed me to the brink of the end of my marriage. Whether that was divorce or suicide. I can't do it anymore. It's been 8 years of her chipping away at myself and my marriage. I will not conceed one more life event to her, when she has lived a full life and got to experience the depths of her joy.
In my eyes, my MIL has narcissistic tendencies but is not an intentionally malignant person. She cares so much about her family, which now includes me, but is almost like.... Incapable? Of seeing things through others eyes. She is the most generous and the most self centered person I know, which has put me in a weird spot.
My in-laws are very helpful and very loving. They are also very overbearing at times. I have and will continue to call out and correct treatment I don't like. I learned recently this has made me MIL "afraid" of me. I don't like that. I think it's because I am the first person in her life to tell her no/not center on her feelings.
I don't like that. I don't want my MIL to be afraid of me. I want a close family relationship, but it seems like my options are to either tolerate her self-centeredness or to remove myself from family events that aren't obligatory. I don't want to fracture their family - I don't view that as my place. As long as my husband puts me first in OUR family (which he is and I am proud of him for), and views me as HIS family now, I am satisfied enough.
I give my MIL a lot of credit for being well-intentioned. She's sweet but tone death. She is not a black and white person which I especially struggle with (for context; autism runs in my side of the family and my therapist has noted I have autistic tendencies)
Do y'all have any advice or insight? How did you get to a tolerable place? I have checked out JUSTNO and I believe that my MIL's good intentions and sweetness keeps her a MildlyNo. I would like to foster whatever relationship I can without sacrificing my marriage or mental health at this point.

2024.05.16 13:05 Sea-Taste-6769 Experience with AM remarried and moving different countries?

This is quite niche but would like to know your experience if your AM migrated and remarried with a Caucasian man. I am hoping I can relate with some of your experience. Honestly I feel like I have trauma from my AM being remarried and moving to the states.
I am just going to keep it short but my AM remarried and my stepfather is very stubborn and strong opinionated (he’s racist and homophobic). I feel like my AM try to be more ‘westernised’ and try to adapt his point of view etc. My Stepfather has weird family dynamic and to this day I still do not feel sense of belonging to his family idk why. I still remember feeling anxious with my new step siblings (they’re 10+ older than me) and they didn’t make me feel welcome.
I just feel like the mixed culture feel overwhelming :/. Just want to know if others have similar experience

2024.05.16 12:55 Ready_Cranberry_8181 Entire family slowly possessed, dies violent death, afterlife, ghost. WTH???

This is the text I sent my husband so I don’t have to retype it.
Basically, we all were at my parents house, there was some extra random people there for a mix of family friends.
Well, someone had just bought an item from a thrift store. It was possessed with a demon. it was slowly possessing everyone and making them very violent. I figured out that if we were outside it was okay and the effects stopped. So we were all camping outside and realized we left keys inside, diapers inside, etc so we had to keep strategically going inside.
Well the demon adapted and eventually slowly spread to outside but in a smarter way to where by the time we realized it, it was too late.
I was trying to call 911 and talk to them through the possession to ask for help and an exorcist. I was relieved when someone was trying to help me until they revealed that they were a medium. They told me that I wasn’t talking t0 911 and that she often received dead people and helped them realize it and pass through.
Long story short, almost everyone ended up possessed and killing themself or another person.
So I realize what was going on and travel to the afterlife all of us that was there was reunited, and we were reunited with family that had died us before too. So it was a happy reunion. There was a baby there that we had a miscarriage of that we were reunited with too, and I was so happy to see the baby and (kids name) but realized you (husband) weren’t there and I couldn’t find you.
I started freaking out and like turned into a ghost. And you and a couple other people that survived were sitting on neighbors porch steps while the cops and everyone was at the house trying to contain what happened. I’m watching you so glad you survived but sad you weren’t with me. So I started following you around, seeing what you were doing. You got into a truck, it was your old black truck you sold lol, I somehow leaned against your arm and tried to make you realize I was there. Somehow you did. You couldn’t see me but could feel me and I was hugging you and loving on you and telling you about how I was with everyone and (kid) was okay, and that we had our miscarried baby with us and she was beautiful and that I loved you so much. And then we tried to have sex while I was a ghost.
Then my alarm went off.
What the hell???

2024.05.16 12:45 BrooklynYo Dog trainer recommendations, Help!

Small family really struggling with 2 out of control Staffies. Will give plenty of information below.
Bit of context, my partner and I have had our dogs for about 10 years. They were always a bit of a handful, a little bit naughty from time to time as staffies could be but overall we loved them and they were still our world. One of the staffies we’ll call staffy 1 has severe separation anxiety and is extremely food obsessed plus the naughtier one out the two and will continuously bark and howl if he’s anywhere near us but can’t get to our feet. We can’t even talk to the neighbours out the front of our house without him trying to run through a door or gate to try and get to us. It’s embarrassing and infuriating and I’ll find myself avoiding the neighbours or spending time out the front as I know he won’t stop carrying on until I’m back. When we get home whenever it is he’ll continuously bark at us until we’re able to get close enough to greet him and the other problem is he’s now making our other staffy follow his lead and act the same way. He’ll stalk our kids and do anything to get there food, put him outside and he’ll bark and howl for as long as it takes until we let him back in. Tell him to get on his bed (which he does) turn our back and he’s away again. We’ve lost control of him and the disobedience drives us wild.
We’ve stopped inviting any guests around to our house because staffy 1 will constantly attack (in a playful way) staffy 2 and will continuously try and hump staffy 2 and won’t let her get anywhere near whoever is in our home. Anyone outside our family who enters our home sends staffy 1 stupid even after we give him tramadol. I honestly thought he’d grow out of it but he’s 10 and acts like a puppy still. Put them outside and it’s like a war between them trying to get back inside the house to us and our guests and myself and my partner are deep down raging at them and can’t relax or enjoy the company of our guests.
The second staffy (number 2) is a really kind natured and beautiful dog with any human, unfortunately she was attacked at a park when she was younger and ever since then has been extremely reactive and wants to attack any dog that is in her vicinity. Our neighbours have a dog next door and we are constantly having to break up these fights that happen at our fence between our dogs and there’s, it’s honestly exhausting.
Over the last week or so one of them has just started pissing inside the house, even tho they’re both toilet trained and for forever have let us know when they need to go to the toilet! My 4 year old slipped over on one of them tonight and bit his tongue.. This was the last straw for which I’m starting to seek help.
I’m too loyal to them to get rid of them and I honestly couldn’t live with myself at the thought of them having to adjust to a new home so we’re basically just stuck in this repetitive cycle of yelling at our dogs everyday, getting triggered as soon as we walk in the door and them fucking up our house and backyard.
Please I’m not looking for any piss takers, I know this could seem funny to some people but we’re just two parents with two young kids trying to get by and live in peace. For which we currently are unable to.
We have tried drugs thats supposed to calm them, didn’t really work plus I didn’t like seeing them zonked like zombies. Can’t walk them because they go crazy at other dogs plus having them in the car is an absolute nightmare. Have tried basic training at home with treats etc but we weren’t successful and don’t even know where to begin trying to untrain some of these horrible habits they both have.
Any recommendations for trainers or advice is very much welcomed, thanks for reading.

2024.05.16 12:42 Responsible-North234 A Big Change From The Novels

The show kind of made the Starks more rustic than they where in the books. House Stark in the novels where not as wealthy as the Lannister's but they where a lot wealthier than the show.
First lets look at what they wear in the books which is nothing like there costumes in the show.
Side note Lord Rickard owned Steel armour and gold spurs.
When Arya is packing to go to Kings Landing she files where chest with silk and Sansa is fond of blue silk.
In Kings Landing Eddard looked nothing like what he did in the show, he always wore what he called his council silk. Ned also commissions a new uniform for his guards. Long cloaks of heavy grey wool decorated with white satin borders. Their cloaks are pinned with hands of beaten silver representing there Lords office as hand of the King. When he was on the Iron Throne Ned wore a white double embosomed with a grey dire wolf.
In Winterfell at the feast welcoming the King and Royal Family they all dressed grandly, including Benjen Stark. There are high born brothers in the Nights Witch from the north and south and I have never seen one dressed as well as Benjen at that feast, not even Lord Commander Mormont himself. He wears rich black velvet high black leather boots. His wide belt has a silver buckle and very heavy silver chain.
When Bran is attacked by Wildlings he is attacked for what he is wearing and he is second legitimate son and he is wearing a wolfs head broch of silver and jet. Jet is a gemstone and this is not a formal event this is just outriding in the woods.
Jon wears fine blacks and mole skin gloves which would not be cheap. At Winterfell harvest feast Bran is dressed quote, as befits a Prince and Robb wears a bronze crown and Catelyn describes her sons royal Kingly attire as quote magnificent.
Also Theon Greyjoy dressed very well when he was living with Stark in silk and Gold and Balon fears the Starks have made him soft. I doubt Greyjoy money was funding Theon's extravagant lifestyle. When he takes Winterfell he crowns himself Prince of Winterfell and orders and orders a new crown forged with black diamonds and chunks of gold. Where did he get the gold and diamonds if not from Winterfell's plundered treasury. And before Winterfell Bran and Luwin gave the Manderley's gold and build a royal fleet and mint coins.
At the Winterfell harvest feast
Now lets look at Winterfell it is much bigger and much grander than in the show this is a Castle built of granite which is an opulent martial.
Winterfell is a huge castle complex spanning several acres and encircled by two massive granite walls.
Remember the Castle is built over natural hot springs and as the wiki explains.
The water is piped through walls and chambers to heat them, making Winterfell more comfortable than other castles during the harsh northern winters.
Also from the wiki
Inside the walls, the complex is composed of dozens of courtyards and small open spaces. Weapons training and practice take place in those yards. The inner ward is a second, much older open space in the castle where archery practice takes place. It is located next to the broken tower. Inside Winterfell stands the inner castle, which contains the Great Keep and the Great Hall. Winterfell's towers and halls have diamond-shaped window panes.[6]
Inner Castle
The Great Keep is the innermost castle and stronghold of the castle complex. It was built over natural hot springs to keep it warm.[5] The Great Keep contains bedchambers for House Stark[5] as well as the solar of Lord Eddard Stark.[7] The building is connected to the armory by a covered bridge.[8] From a window on the covered bridge, one can see the entire yard.[9] Beneath the Great Keep are cellars with narrow windows.[10]
The Great Hall is used for receiving guests and the place where the household dines together, including the Lord of Winterfell. It is made of grey stone[11] and has wide doors made of oak and iron,[12] which opens to the castle yard, and a rear exit leads to a dimly-lit gallery.[12] Inside it can hold eight long rows of trestle tables, four to each side of the central aisle,[12] and the hall can seat five hundred people.[13] There is a raised platform for noble guests, and the walls are covered with banners.[11] The hall contains the high seat of the old Kings in the North. The seat's cold stone has been polished by the many lords who have sat upon it, and its massive arms are decorated with the carved heads of snarling direwolves.[14][15]
The small sept was built for Lady Catelyn Tully, a southron, by her husband, Lord Eddard.[16]
Courtyard and Other Buildings
The First Keep, a squat and round drum tower, is the oldest surviving part of the castle but is no longer in use. Around it lies a lichyard where the Kings of Winter would bury their loyal servants. The keep has gargoyles atop it.[17][6] Maester Kennet determined it was built after the Andals arrived.[18]
The broken tower, also known as the Burned Tower, was once the tallest watchtower in Winterfell. Over 140 years ago a lightning strike set it afire and the top third collapsed inward, but no one rebuilt it.[19][20] It stands behind the old inner ward. Crows nest atop the broken tower.[19]
The ancient godswood of Winterfell has stood untouched for ten thousand years, with three acres of old packed earth and close-together trees creating a dense canopy, which the castle was built around. At the center of the grove stands an ancient weirwood with a face carved into it, standing over a pool of black water.[16] Across the godswood from the heart tree, beneath the windows of the Guest House, an underground hot spring feeds three small pools, with a moss-covered wall looming above them. The godswood is enclosed by walls, and is accessed by a main iron gate, or smaller wooden ones.
The Glass Gardens[21] is a greenhouse heated by the hot springs, which turn it into a place of moist warmth.[5] It is used to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers.[9][22] The garden has green and yellow glass panes[10] locked in frames.[8]
The crypt of Winterfell, located near the First Keep, is where members of House Stark are buried. The underground crypts are long and narrow, with pillars moving two by two along its length. Between pillars stand the sepulchers of the Starks of Winterfell, the likenesses of the dead seated on thrones, with iron swords set before them to keep the restless spirits from wandering, and snarling direwolves at their feet. The crypts are deep under the earth, cavernous and bigger than the complex above ground. They are accessed by a twisting stone stair and a huge ironwood door that lies at a slant to the floor. The stair continues below to older levels where the most ancient Kings in the North are entombed.[23][17][10]
The Bell Tower is connected to the rookery by a bridge. The bridge is covered and runs from the fourth floor of the tower to the second floor of the rookery.[6][8]
The maester's turret is below the rookery.[24]
The Library Tower houses the library at Winterfell. A stonework staircase winds about its exterior.[8]
The Guards Hall is in line with the Bell Tower, and further back, the First Keep.[6]
Winterfell has undercrofts and cellars.[25] The castle also has dungeons,[25] including tower cells.[26]
Walls
Winterfell is a huge castle complex spanning several acres, defended by two massive walls of grey granite with a wide moat between them.[4] The outer wall is eighty feet high, while the inner is one hundred feet high.[4] There are guard turrets on the outer wall and more than thirty watch turrets on the crenelated inner walls.
The great main gates[7] have a gatehouse made of two huge crenelated bulwarks which flank the arched gate[8] and a drawbridge that opens into the market square of the winter town.[27][28]
There is a narrow tunnel inside of the inner wall stretching halfway around the castle, allowing travel from the south gate all the way to the north gate without interruption.[19]
When Jon Snow becomes Lord Commander of the Nights Watch he considers building a glass building but thinks it will be costly and for such fine glass he would need to look Myr and by the freedom of a few glass makers.
We know Sansa loves lemon cakes and lemon trees do not grow naturally in the north importing lemon seeds to Winterfell from the reach or Doren would not be cheap. My guess would be the seeds came form Doren as one need only sail up the narrow sea than the up the White Knife.
Finally Maester Luwin has his own turret and mentions having servents of his own. The Starks top servants have servants
Not as wealthy as the Lannister but it clear Ned and Robb after him where unlike in the show 2 of the wealthiest man in the world.

2024.05.16 12:23 boomnyanya part time degree for accounting?

im a fresh diploma grad, now working in a mid tier firm in tax (planning to stay for at least 2-3 years)
i recently realised the importance of a degree as just a diploma cert may have stopped my chances from getting a better rank promotion, higher salary ceiling, qualifying for certain professional accreditations, etc. my colleagues around me are all degree holders too.
i was looking at kaplan/murdoch university because my diploma gpa isnt the best (3.0), is there any other recommendations? i also heard people saying kaplan’s degree isnt recognised which im not sure if its true in regards to better promotions/salaries/prof. accreditations.
extra info: i cant afford to do full time degree because my family isnt financially stable and i need to support them as much as i can. i understand that i’ll need to juggle and forgo any free time in order to juggle work and school but im willing to take the risk!
any advice at all is extremely welcomed!!

2024.05.16 12:13 Big-Ad-7677 Jumbo Rate vs Conventional for Vacation Home Purchase

We are purchasing a vacation home and the purchase price is $950k on our accepted offer, and would normally put 20% down making a $760k loan. After speaking with a few mortgage brokers, seems we are right below the conventional/jumbo threshold of $766k so getting stuck with higher conventional rates vs jumbo.
The lenders have suggested 1) writing contract at a higher sales price like $960k and having seller give a $10k concession, which could trigger jumbo. 2) one lender offers a program where if you buy a home for a family member they give you jumbo pricing, so add a parent to the title for example. My real estate broker is hesitant to do any of this with seller given how competitive market was and we beat out all cash offers by going a bit higher on price.
Would it be easier to just pay slightly less than 20% down and pay PMI for a month then pay extra principal to get it removed?
Any thoughts welcome as the rate difference is basically 8% vs 7%.
