Newbie: Gas Bill Question

2024.05.10 04:43 zfourgasm Newbie: Gas Bill Question

Newbie: Gas Bill Question
Hey everyone,
My husband & I just relocated to Tulsa a few days ago. We know absolutely nothing about Oklahoma and were floored by this bill we just received. We started gas service effective 5/3 and the bill has just 3 days of service on it for $173.01. My jaw nearly snapped clean off my face when I saw it. I understand $88 of that is a deposit we are being charged even they told us the deposit would be waived but I’m still confused by this total. $39.23 service charge.. is that going to be on every single bill?!
Also, can anyone share their opinion on the average monthly payment plan? Is it worth looking into or should we stay away?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.05 21:45 Trippikomodo Tiktok shop and Amazon logistics problems right now be careful

Just wanted to give warning to anyone who is using any kind of MCF, FBA or Dropship through amazon to tiktok shop right now. Tiktok customer service is terrible to and will act like the issue is on you like you need to remediate the problem that they are having. I have multiple products that ship through Amazon logistics and right now Tiktok is unable to track the Amazon tracking numbers. I have orders that have been sitting delivered from my end for days, others in transit and tiktok shop is not updating those tracking numbers. I contacted customer service and they said they are having an issue with tracking Amazon logistics specifically. Anyone who sells on Tiktok shop knows that if you do not have trackable tracking numbers or ship or deliver items within a set time you will get points added to your shop health and performance and it will eventually lead to a ban of your shop. Tiktok customer service says we need to ask our customers now if they received the items and show proof of the conversation saying they received the items... as if people reply to messages. The other issue is Tiktok automatically cancels orders and refunds customers if items are not delivered in set time periods. So if you do not get those replies and those orders get cancelled then your paying for all those orders out of your own pocket and Tiktok wont do anything about it.. Have already had a large order this happened on before.. I even sent them proof of delivery from my end showing the tracking saying delivered with photos from the delivery drivers with the package at their doorsteps and GPS... Be careful everyone just wanted to give you warning if any of this applies to you all

2024.01.30 10:27 amzonestepusa Amazon MWS Keys: Essential for FBA Sellers

Amazon (Marketplace Web Service) Keys are the digital keychain that unlocks exceptional efficiency and control in the ever-changing world of e-commerce. By mastering the use of MWS Keys, FBA sellers may take charge of their virtual shops, just like a talented conductor orchestrating a symphony. Here, success isn’t something you have to work for; it’s something you can unlock, one key at a time.

Top MWS Key Security Tips

Understanding the Importance

These are the virtual credentials that allow you to access your Amazon Seller account over the MWS API. Protecting these keys is among the primary measures to prevent unwanted access or breaches.

Amazon Two-Factor Authentication for MWS

Why Implement 2FA?

Two-factor authentication enhances security by verifying more than a login and password. Using 2FA greatly minimizes the danger of illegal Amazon Seller account access.

Verify Identity for Every User:

Make sure that everybody who has access to MWS Keys uses Two-Factor Authentication.

Protected Access to Devices:

Connect two-factor authentication (2FA) to individual devices to block access from unknown sources.

Regular Audits:

Maintain an up-to-date list of permitted devices for two-factor authentication by carrying out regular audits.
Think about what might happen if someone gained access to a seller’s login information. By implementing two-factor authentication, you may prevent illegal access even if the login credentials are known.

Keeping Your MWS Credentials Up-to-Date

Keeping your security methods up-to-date with the latest industry norms is a must in an ever-changing digital landscape. One way to do this is to regularly update your MWS credentials.

Recommended Methods

Updates on Demand: Make it a habit to update your MWS keys regularly, particularly following staff turnover or security breaches.

Ideal Techniques

Storing Keys:

Keep your secret and access keys in encrypted spots, hidden from the public eye.

Limitation of Access:

Confirm that only essential individuals who need MWS Keys for daily operations have access to them.

Key Rotation:

Rotating your keys regularly will help prevent them from being visible for too long.

Compatibility with Versions

Be sure your MWS credentials are compliant with the latest API versions by staying updated with Amazon’s announcements.

Documents:

For reference in the future, make sure to keep exact records of important updates.
Amazon rolls out a brand-new security patch or revises its API protocols. If you want to keep your operations running smoothly and in line with present safety standards, you need to update your MWS credentials regularly.

Renewing MWS Keys for Amazon Sellers

Steps to Renew Access Keys

One preventive step to ensure continuous access to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) API is to renew the access keys. In most cases, Amazon will give you plenty of warning before your current keys expire.

Renewal Process

Ensuring Seamless Integration during Renewal

Make sure your development teams have good communication to keep renewal disruptions to a minimum. Make sure to provide them with all the information they need, including the expected renewal date.
Before implementing the new keys in your production system, make sure they work in Amazon’s sandbox first. By following this procedure, you can find and fix possible integration problems without affecting your Amazon FBA activities.

Effects on FBA Business Processes

While the key renewal process is underway, there may be a brief interruption to API access. We suggest that sellers be ready for a long period when certain activities may be impacted, even though we strive to minimize downtime to a minimum.
Notify customers of potential delays or inconveniences if your FBA operations involve visible elements, such as order monitoring on your website. Openness and honesty build trust.
Imagine that the website’s order tracking is briefly inaccessible after you renew your Access Keys. Notifying customers in advance helps manage expectations and keep them happy.

Keep Amazon Product Data Accurate

Why PIM Matters

Suppose you’re running an Amazon clothing business. A product information management system lets you modify size charts and colors for all your products with a few clicks.

Update Product Images and Descriptions

Imagine launching a new, better product. By upgrading the description and listing images, you can inform potential buyers immediately.

Use Amazon’s AutoUpdate

Imagine a time-sensitive flash sale with deeply discounted prices. Amazon’s automated pricing updates make it easy to reflect temporary adjustments.

Track and Address Customer Reviews

For instance, a consumer may inquire about product compatibility with specific equipment. Response time and product descriptions can encourage potential consumers with similar questions to buy.

Monitor Amazon Policy Changes

In this scenario, Amazon may create new criteria for disclosing more product information. Being informed lets you change your listings to fulfill these standards.
This information is changed when your product is resynced:

Introducing Advanced MWS Features

Short-Term Use of MWS Tokens

To unlock time-limited permissions, MWS Tokens provide a dynamic component to access control. A better security measure than static keys, tokens only allow access for a certain amount of time, limiting the possibility of exposure under certain conditions.

Execution Procedures

Suppose you have a specific project that requires you to temporarily authorize a third-party developer. If you use MWS Tokens, you can specify an exact duration for access and have them automatically revoked when the project is over.

Reaching More People and Facilitating Multi-Channel Fulfillment

In addition to Amazon creatives, you can now satisfy orders from additional sales channels with Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF). You may unify your platform offerings and simplify fulfillment procedures by integrating MCF with MWS Keys.

Recommended Methods for Integration:

Imagine you’re using two e-commerce platforms, one of which is Amazon and the other is an external one. Regardless of the sales channel, MCF, and MWS Keys allow you to centrally manage inventory, guaranteeing accurate order fulfillment by Amazon.

MWS Collaboration Sub-Accounts

Using MWS Sub-Accounts, sellers can work together on joint ventures or manage several storefronts. This function ensures that each sub-account can function autonomously while still being under the supervision of the main administration account.

The Process of Establishing and Managing Sub-Accounts

Try to picture it this way: separate groups are responsible for different product lines. To ensure focused management and seamless collaboration within each product segment, you can delegate duties using MWS Sub-Accounts.

Effective MWS Key Expiration Policies

Setting Up Expiry Notifications

Keep your operations running smoothly with proactive alerting solutions that let you know when your MWS key is about to expire. So that you may adequately prepare for the next renewal, it is important to set up reliable notification procedures.

Implementing Expiry Notifications

The MWS keys you have been using will expire in 30 days. You can confidently begin the renewal process because a well-designed notification system will make sure you receive an alert at the ideal time.

How Missing MWS Keys Affect FBA Processes

When your MWS keys expire, it might set off a chain reaction of problems in your FBA operations. Every part of your company could be affected, from managing inventory to processing orders, which could cause financial losses and harm to your seller’s reputation.

Possible Effects Determination

Put yourself in a scenario where you fail to renew your MWS keys before they expire. A cascade effect that can lead to unhappy consumers and reduced sales could occur if orders stop and your inventory status becomes unpredictable.

Comparing MWS Key Renewal and Regeneration

Extending the validity period of your existing MWS keys is what renewing them is all about. This is a preventative step that will keep operations running smoothly by securing constant access to the MWS API.
However, when it comes to strategic changes, the regeneration of MWS keys entails making new keys from scratch. This method is commonly used in situations where there are security issues, staff changes, or when API access needs to be reset.

Deciding on the Best Strategy

Picking the Appropriate Method

Assume the case where an employee who has access to MWS keys leaves the organization. To make sure the deceased member can’t get back in, it’s best to regenerate keys instead of renewing them.

How to use MWS Developer Console

Sellers may manage their Amazon business successfully using the MWS Developer Console, which acts as a control center and provides a user-friendly interface. Learning the primary menus and controls is essential for navigating the console.

Case Study 1

Case Study 2

Advantages and Drawbacks for Sellers

Challenges Faced by Sellers

Future Trends in MWS Key

Blockchain Integration

When it comes to managing MWS keys, security is the highest priority. Integrating blockchain technology to strengthen the security of data sent through MWS keys is something we expect to happen in the next few years.
Secure and private data can be further protected by adopting bitcoin as payment, which is both decentralized and impossible to modify.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Increasing cyber dangers may lead to the standardization of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in MWS key management. Amazon may require sellers to use MFA to confirm their identity with passwords and fingerprints for enhanced protection.

AI/Automation Integration

Managing inventory will never be the same after artificial intelligence is incorporated into MWS key management. To optimize stock levels, manage replenishment orders, and estimate demand, sellers can use predictive analytics. Both efficiency and the likelihood of stockouts or excess are improved by this.

Smart Pricing Strategies

Artificial intelligence algorithms can assess market trends, competitor pricing, and customer behavior to provide dynamic pricing plans. If MWS keys develop to enable real-time automated modifications, sellers will have a better chance of staying competitive and making the most of their profits.

Predictions for MWS Key Features in the Coming Years

The next major update to MWS will most likely concentrate on enhancing the reporting and analytics features already available to sellers.
Among these advanced measures are those that pertain to consumer actions, the efficacy of advertisements, and general market tendencies; these insights allow sellers to base their judgments on hard evidence.

Augmented Reality (AR) for Product Presentation

With the development of new technologies, MWS keys may soon have augmented reality (AR) abilities that enhance product presentations. Sellers may provide clients with a virtual experience through augmented reality, letting them see things in their own homes before buying.

Improved Integration with External Systems

As time goes on, MWS keys may provide better integration capabilities with external traffic, allowing for more streamlined cross-platform activities.
Improving connectivity with seller-specific software, ERP systems, and other administrative tools is one possible area for improvement.

Getting Started with MWS

The MWS Developer Dashboard—Accessing It

To get the materials and tools you need to integrate MWS after you’ve created your Amazon Seller Account, go to the MWS Developer Dashboard. Go to the ‘Developer’ page after logging into Seller Central. The MWS Developer Dashboard can be found under the ‘Developer’ heading.
Here you may find all the information you need to integrate MWS with your business operations, including how to generate keys, access documentation, and a list of available APIs.

Learning the Credentials of MWS Developers

For a smooth integration, you must be familiar with MWS Developer Credentials and keep them under control. Go to the “Manage Your Credentials” area of the MWS Developer Dashboard. Here you may discover crucial details such as your Marketplace ID, Seller ID, and more.
The credentials for a secure connection between your systems and Amazon’s APIs are the Access Key ID and Secret Key, which you can generate.
Best practices for security include not disclosing your credentials and keeping them in a safe place. To keep your MWS integration secure, you should upgrade your systems and rotate your secret key often.

2023.12.07 17:38 GamingExistence Tips and tricks including fight prep BG3 Guide

Welcome to my guide for fight preparation and general tips and tricks!
This list should help illuminate new players and advanced ones alike. I have tried to limit spoilers to a minimum where I can, but there are some minor spoilers for act 1 ahead.
If you prefer to watch rather than read, there is a fully voiced and animated video below that you may prefer.
https://youtu.be/eNH09OOQNmI?si=mcf-88VGEauOZENF
Fight Prep
Many encounters have an equivalent of sneaking in and destroying key items. In this example we are dealing with eggs pre-fight, before they have the chance to hatch into enemies when the fight starts.
https://preview.redd.it/axshbp52dw4c1.jpg?width=2206&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10362a3769b327d0b682c51398fa0a9c0fd812f1
Sometimes you can destroy or manipulate terrain that enemies might use. Making it harder for them to get to you
Placing items into key areas, ready to start a fight, or be used at the right moment in one, can be make tough encounters far easier to deal with.
Smokepowder bombs and barrels can be placed ready to be used at the right time!
Characters with high Strength can hold onto boxes. Ready to build combat towers for your ranged characters to gain benefits from.
https://preview.redd.it/3ne180mrdw4c1.jpg?width=1737&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa80bd7399bfb4133138af77bfb84ee6b352ea6f
In some of the harder encounters early on, +2 to hit with High Ground can make a big difference. And you also get a defensive bonus for squishy ranged characters using them.
This tactic is absolutely not essential for your playthrough, but it highlights some of the interesting mechanics in the game.
https://preview.redd.it/7xbniuevdw4c1.jpg?width=2907&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f68ae2e2e6ed714e3203e223e15fe2ad87f22b94
You can also run away and then use the flee mechanic if your prepping gets noticed. Potions of invisibility can help with this, or dashing away and hiding works also. Just ensure you get 27 metres away and you can check this by hovering over the "Flee" button. You will instantly return to camp once you flee.
https://preview.redd.it/8glloryzdw4c1.jpg?width=1854&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ab95b63b3b7eadf780beceff032ddc6c245e5c5
Fleeing can allow you to return later and start the fight when completely ready. Turn based mode can help you with applying buffs to your party. Ensuring they last for as long as possible when combat starts.
https://preview.redd.it/60aw3iu2ew4c1.jpg?width=1111&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a336aa253360d3453e0baef6f88c7e64b3cff68d
Flasks, potions, elixirs & coatings
These can be helpful early game, with some like the Potion of Speed being a staple throughout the entire play-through.
You can throw potions to hit multiple targets and spread the effect. You can also drop them on the ground, position your characters around it and attack, extending the range and buffing more targets. This can be temperamental in whether it buffs everyone or just one person, but it can be extremely powerful when it does work.
A Potion of Speed was placed between the 4 characters and attacked, one potion Hastened all 4 characters
And the same goes for healing potions that can be thrown in combat to heal and even revive downed characters. Or dropped on the ground after combat to heal your entire party, extending their supply.

https://i.redd.it/0gdv143jew4c1.gif
The Bloodlust Elixir provides an additional action when killing an enemy, this is an amazing item throughout the entire game.
Potions of speed need Hyena Ears and the Bloodlust Elixir requires Warg Fangs to craft them. If you see these ingredients always take them.
https://preview.redd.it/malg956mew4c1.jpg?width=2115&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c53e65670543a4d855d22c32a83382fc2fe1df22
Vendors can sell them either in completed form ready to use, or the ingredients used to craft them, so keep an eye out whenever you’re at a shop for either.
On the topic of vendors, Charisma will reduce the cost to buy items from them. You only need to start the conversation with your character who has the highest value. Jumping to others mid purchase will still use the better price.
This example shows a dagger being cheaper to buy, but a high Charisma will also provide more gold on the items you sell
You can also switch to Barter Mode and give the vendor gold or items to boost their attitude towards you. This way they give you better discounts and buy items at a higher value. This is handy for vendors you will be using for a long time. And once again, remember to do this using the character with the highest Charisma value and always start the conversation with that character.
We start with a discount of 20% because we have 17 Charisma, after donating money or items you can get this to a 50% discount
Weapon coatings can be powerful early game. Boosting the chances of hitting on low level characters with poor hit chances.
Some like Drow poison have a chance at putting enemies to sleep. This can help to reduce damage taken, and end fights quickly as you land guaranteed critical hits on sleeping targets.
Dropping a candle or a lit torch on the floor will allow you to dip your weapons in the flame to deal extra fire damage. It can also provide light in an area, helping your hit chances without losing a weapon slot to hold the torch.
Prone and Push
When you or enemies fall certain distances, additional damage is normally dealt, there is also the chance the falling creature becomes Prone, making them lose actions and other negative effects. Be vigilant for opportunities to abuse this mechanic such as in this example of destroying the spiders bridge when they are standing on it or knocking them off it.
https://preview.redd.it/b41fvvl7fw4c1.jpg?width=1714&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e2245b0b51ef9c4b7f1eb10ee1b486aec232789
Push is also a bonus action and early game you may not have many bonus actions to use. Push can help assist you to deal additional damage or avoid attacks of opportunity by knocking enemies back before running away.
Perception & Burrow Holes
Pressing Alt on PC or holding down on the right stick on controller will show world information. This is helps when looting. It won't reveal everything, so keep an eye out for crates and barrels still, but it will highlight loot on the floor.
Not everything is shown with ALT. And the Skill Perception is required to find traps and hidden items. Having at least one character with good Wisdom and Proficiency in Perception checks is a very good idea!
https://preview.redd.it/9b4uq4jifw4c1.jpg?width=1379&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d82e591de0f350d8c8ea8356589e577db47f0c27
Using Perception, you will discover Burrow Holes. These are tight tunnels that often lead to a new area.
You can use the Cantrip spell Mage Hand to squeeze through and perhaps press a button to open the door.
https://preview.redd.it/m0wk2qslfw4c1.jpg?width=970&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93b55b9a6142bd663098aa170081a9d0acd3a98d
You can cast reduce on a character who is already small like a Gnome or Halfling to squeeze through. The spell disguise can help you to become smaller and you can combine this with Reduce.
The spell Gaseous Form allows you to float through. And some crevices only require you to be small not tiny to get through.
And with your own Perception as a player, keep your eyes peeled on the screen for secrets in the terrain. Panning the camera around can reveal locations you can jump to and get rewarded for your curiosity.
Jumping Tips
Jumping can lead to issues with party members refusing to jump or getting stuck though. This is often resolved by simply selecting a different character who has made the jump already.
If not remember to split or unchain the party members who have already made the jump, then select the others to manually control and jump them down.
2 Characters have made the jump, but two are stuck (top right of image). If you don't unchain then when you select the non jumpers, the others might jump back up which is annoying!
Increasing Strength boosts jump distances, this is why you will often see your fighter classes have a better jump than the others.
You can also put items on your Quickbar. Equipping boots or other items that provide a jumping boost, and then changing back ready for combat.
Jump is also amazingly useful in fights, it is a bonus action and will allow you to leap over pesky enemies or allies who are in the way whilst retaining your primary action. It can get you to high ground which we know from earlier provides many benefits. Never forget Jump and on PC the default hot key is "Z".
Karlach is blocked by the two Gnomes in the doorway, but jump allows to get past where normal movement would leave us stuck outside the room
Random Tips
Shooting leavers and switches can activate them in most circumstances. If in doubt, give it a shot.
https://preview.redd.it/th9d74jbgw4c1.jpg?width=1507&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3caf41107417d37f00d3992af7702ff1b97311bb
If your characters start to get encumbered with all the loot you have. You can send items directly to your camp ready to be picked up and sold later on. You can also do this with camp supplies, so don’t leave any fine wines behind!
You can also hold down \"Shift\" and select all the contents and send to camp in fewer clicks
Some items found are parts of a greater hole that can then be combined. Pay attention if the item name has a part in it or if you have multiple items that are named or look similar.
There is a Toggle Light Source option that makes you select your torch item, when clicked again it returns your weapons to how they were before. Saving you manually doing this each time and re-equipping your weapon.
Reddit only allows 20 images so I apologies for lack of visuals on the below. The video is fully animated with visuals FYI
Pressing T or down on the controller D Pad, will allow you to examine enemies for resistances and bonuses. You can also do this on curious items to get more information and on spells and abilities. I highly recommend you use this feature in "Honour" mode to get an idea of what new tricks the enemies have.
Clicking an equipment slot will show everything that can be equipped into it. Handy for inventory management and ensuring everyone is using the best item.
On PC pressing “Tab” will allow you to manage the entire party at the same time. Useful for inventory management.
Advantage is super helpful in that is allows you to roll two dice and get the better result, once again make use of that quick bar to quickly change back again if it skill check dependant for example.
Bookshelves can often have scrolls in them, sometimes very good ones and so I normally always check them.

2023.10.19 21:45 LordOfIronFan I know this post will be probably deleted, but I got to ask you anyway.

Do you think, that I made Character AI of Rapture Kraken correcty?

I have been thinking of having certain parts of conversations with Nikkes and characters and put it all together for one story. But considering nobody did Kraken, I tried to make that Rapture myself.
And I am curious about your opinion. So if I can ask for you to check it out.

2023.07.27 01:55 Separate-Recipe-9778 Natural gas price recovery: a tale of two tickers (AR and RRC)

Natural gas price recovery: a tale of two tickers (AR and RRC)
Intro
It's been a while since I've seen a natural gas post on this sub so I thought I'd try one. We all love seeing BOIL loss porn but there are other ways to invest in NG and play its recovery, which I'm betting will happen soon. The two companies considered here are Antero Resources (AR) and Range Resources Corporation (RRC). They are both NG producers based in the Appalachian basin. The primary reason for these two is because I own them and want to pump my own holdings. Secondary reasons include them having very low debt, low break-even operating costs, and large fractions of natural gas liquids (NGLs; think propane, ethane, butane) which typically sell for a premium. Between them they offer aggressive (AR) and conservative (RRC) ways to play NG price recovery. I am hoping to learn from your feedback or at least be impressed with the wit of your insults.
Macro backdrop
Here is a plot of the spot price of NG over the past year.
Spot price of NG over last year (source: finviz)
We're all familiar with the causes of the 2022 spike: the Russia-Ukraine war that sent European prices skyrocketing, a hot summer in the US leading to record powerburn, low NG production. We're also familar with the causes of the crash this year: mild winters in both Europe and the US and increased production led to massive storage injections. People who kept DCAing into BOIL and UNG during this downturn took a big L. Squinting at this plot we can see the beginnings of a price recovery. There are several macro reasons to expect a recovery. Liquid NG (LNG) export capacity will gradually increase from the current 14.5 Bcf/day capacity to 21.0 Bcf/day by 2025 due to new LNG export terminals (source: ARRC investor presentations). Continued switching of coal to NG for electricity generation is expected to increase NG demand by several Bcf/day by 2025 (source: AR investor presentation). Record powerburn is being recorded for summer AC, again increasing demand (source: celsiusenergy.net). Gas-directed rig counts are dropping (source: Baker-Hughes). All these reasons and more are reflected in the NG forward curve, which is in steep contango (ie, the expected prices increase dramatically in the future).
Forward curve for NG prices until April 2025 (source: synmax)
How to play this: AR and RRC
UNG and BOIL are not the way to play this recovery. These products hold future contracts for NG and roll them over every month or two. The forward curve pricing is already baked in. When NG is in contango you're buying high and selling low according to this curve during the roll over. To make money you need the forward curve to be wrong; you need NG to go higher than this curve predicts before fees and volatility decay wreck your position. We want an easier way to make money than to have professionals with access to the best data be wrong. Maybe China will invade Taiwan or something but I'm not betting on that. That brings us to AR and RRC. Both are low-debt NG producers with low break-even costs (around $2.4-2.8/MMBtu depending on the quarter, low for this sector). Both get around 30% of their revenue from NGLs. For comparison NGL can sell for over $20/Bbl, so this gives a revenue uplift for these two companies. AR partially owns their own midstream company and sells NG at a premium to the HH price by sending it to favorable markets. Current guidance is for a $0.05 premium. RRC sells at a $0.40 discount to HH (source: all this shit comes from press releases for the two companies, NGL pricing information on the AR website, and their 10Qs). Let's look at a chart for these two, and throw on the perhaps better known EQT for comparison.
Comparison of AR, RRC, EQT over the past year (source: finviz)
They've all gone down but are starting to recover. The AR line (the lowest one) is a thing of beauty and I get aroused just looking at it. Why did it start diverging downward in February/March? Let's look at the free cash flow from operations of AR and RRC for the past four quarters. Here they are (all numbers in millions; I haven't made a big effort to separate out one-time items and there are a few, just took these from the cash flow statement, I just want to illustrate the trend).
RRC:
  • 2Q2023: -$26
  • 1Q2023: $337
  • 4Q2022: $498
  • 3Q2022: $375
AR:
  • 2Q2023: -$139
  • 1Q2023: -$7
  • 4Q2022: $240
  • 3Q2022: $844
Both companies have trended downwards due to lower HH pricing, but AR far more sharply. The difference is related to the evolution of realized NG prices for each company over the past few quarters, shown below (all prices per mcf).
RRC:
  • 2Q2023: $2.34
  • 1Q2023: $3.58
  • 4Q2022: $4.06
  • 3Q2022: $4.42
AR:
  • 2Q2023: $2.16
  • 1Q2023: $3.38
  • 4Q2022: $4.11
  • 3Q2022: $5.51
Both companies saw a fall-off in NG realized prices from highs in 2022, but the AR fall-off was much sharper. Remember, AR usually sells NG at a premium to the HH price while RRC sells at a discount. AR should have a much higher realized price but it doesn't. This behavior has to do with the hedge book for each company. NG producers typically hedge their production with a variety of swaps and collars to protect against a downturn in NG prices (ie, they use options for hedging instead of for reckless gambling, how novel!). Conversely, this removes some of the upside if NG spikes upwards. For the remainder of 2023 and 2024, RRC has about 55% of their production hedged (source: RRC 10Qs). AR has almost no hedges for the remainder of 2023 and 2024. They unwound them on purpose in early 2023; from their 1Q2023 press release: "In the first quarter of 2023, Antero executed an early settlement of its 2024 natural gas swaptions.... The Company unwound the 2024 swaptions to gain full exposure to the higher expected strip prices in 2024. Antero believes that the lower natural gas strip in 2023 will result in reduced industry drilling and completions, which will provide support to higher natural gas prices ahead of the expected LNG export demand growth beginning in 2024." There's a similar statement about the 2023 hedges in their 1Q2023 10Q that I'm too lazy to find again. AR is betting on increased NG prices and is willing to take a short-term hit to position themselves for 2024; they know what they're doing, this is bullish for NG. It's great for us because it allows us to buy into AR low and get exposure to the NG price increase reflected in the forward curve. We're betting on NG along with the AR management.
Valuation
I have no fucking clue. I'll make up some numbers anyway for the change in FCF that will come from the expected NG price increases. This should give us a feeling for the expected changes in AR and RRC stock prices. I'll project changes in FCF for the next four quarters. To do this I'll make the following assumptions: AR completely unhedged, selling at a $0.05 premium to HH prices (company guidance); RRC 55% hedged with swaps and collars as given in their 10Q, 45% unhedged selling at a $0.40 discount to HH prices (company guidance). For the HH prices I'll use the current values of the future contracts with a $0.50 increase in all future contracts; this is definitely a bull case but as I'll state later I've been very conservative on other things. I'll take this change in FCF from NG price increases and add it to the 2Q2023 FCF numbers. This ignores one-off items in the FCF, changes in NGL pricing (which are low right now), changes in operating costs, and a bunch of other effects so it's qualitative only. Just look at the slope of the lines in the shaded area which has the projections.

FCF projections (sources: company press releases; 10Qs, and assumptions in text)
Both AR and RRC are expected to generate positive FCF of several hundred million in the next few quarters. Although the $0.50 increase with respect to current futures is an aggressive assumption, other parts are conservative. I've assumed no increase in NGL prices (which, according to AR material, is expected; I think 2Q2023 saw a significant increase in NGL pricing from 1Q2023 but I'm too lazy to check now). The AR recovery is steeper than the RRC one since they're unhedged, which interests me. I see potential to return to $40, a 60% increase over the current price, in the next 1-1.5 years (yes I pulled both the price target and timeline out of my ass).
Positions
Not balls deep; just the tip. I keep positions small, Kelly criterion and all that. Shares in RRC and AR, long-dated calls in AR. Calls chosen to be slightly OTM or ATM when purchased, with good liquidity. Positions are spread across two accounts, hence the cut and pastes below. You can see clearly from my positions that I think AR is the better play. I will load more AR, probably 2025 LEAPs and more shares, on any dips. I have a standing order for several 1/17/2025 30.00 C. I was waiting for 2Q2023 earnings before loading up more. I was hoping a bad 2Q2023 would send AR down and allow me to load more, but that isn't happening in the post-market right now. Seems the bad news from 2Q2023 is too priced in unfortunately.

TL;DR
Natural gas price increases are expected in the next 1-2 years. You're truly regarded if you play this with BOIL or UNG. Buy producers instead, preferably those with NGL exposure and low debt. RRC to moon. AR to Mars. Long-dated called/LEAPs or shares only.

Ong
See everybody ranting about og&e, I just moved and Ong just sent me a bill for only 4 days. They charge $50 a month in just fee’s, charges, taxes, and winter event cost recovery. This was 85 dollar bill and only .99 cents was actual gas usage lol

(1) The Company in the 1st half of 2023 has been continually having to adapt to change by addressing to the abrupt unanticipated transition from high Natural Gas prices of over CDN$5.00 per mcf in 2022 to the recent prices of under CDN$2.50 per mcf in 2023. As part of this transition, there has been the delay in the ramp-up of the Vertically Integrated Energy Business. Therefore, despite best efforts from time-to-time, part of this transition has been on-going negotiations with Micro Turbine Technology ("MTT"). The Company recently attended meetings in Eindhoven in the Netherlands and acknowledged that there have been some delays and despite our differences can confirm, that upon delivery of the outstanding payments to MTT that are within the budget noted above, it will have fulfilled its obligations and will be back on track. ' Despite our legal differences on the interpretation of both parties' contractual engagements, once Avila's financial commitments have been honoured with MTT, it will have cured MTT's Default Notice and be current on all its financial obligations towards MTT. Accordingly, Avila looks forward to ramping up its previously announced Vertically Integrated Energy Business in the course of 2023.

The results of this initial financing as announced, prior to the completion of the Business Combination and listing on the NASDAQ as agreed with Insight Acquisition Corporation and announced on April 3, 2023, solidifies it's the foundation to move forward with the execution of its business plan in parallel to the completion of the Listing.

Said Leonard B. Van Betuw, President, director and CEO.

2023.06.02 03:00 username-taken82 AN EVOLUTION OF DEGENERACY - LOOKING BACK - ASX_BETS IN HISTORY (part 3)

Well fuck me, it's that time again...
I can't believe its been a year since we last gathered up the financial wreckage that is ASX_Bets into a tidy little package, but it seems as though you tards are going as strong as ever.
(If you'd like to see what the fuck this is all about here are some links to Part 1 and Part 2. )
Or just take a deep breath, ignore the smell and dive head first without any DD at all into Part 3 of the weird, wild and wonderful history that is degenerate gamblers support group ASX_Bets.
(Personally, Mods blame u/SunkDestroyer for all the craziness of the last financial year, shits never been right since they set off the fire alarm...)

Enjoy cucks..

A FUNKY MARKET AND SOME DOGS ON THE LOOSE
Given the way things have tracked along since the last post, I thought it fitting to kick of this years mash-up with a post from u/Pastry1 that got an awful amount of traction, a rundown of the ASX biggest dogs. Mostly, it's just indiscriminate venting from folks about their favorite Clifford, but it's still worth a read for nostalgic purposes.
PAPPY ELON AND THE TWITTER SCAM DREAM
Never shy of a controversy, Papa Elon initiated a whole bunch of crazy in the markets during the purchase of twit-wit. Commentary and the linked post was provided by u/Wannaliveinpenthouse, kind of ironic given the circumstance really...
AN EPIC BAN BET
Generally, I won't single out a specific bet unless its really off the scale, like bodily fluids, daddy/sister banging, tattoo's, or in this case buying an acreage of growth forest and cultivating the ASX_Bets logo into it. Seriously, this is the claim u/joeycloud has made in their epic bet from 2022.
DESPERATELY SEEKING BLM
In the absence of u/ilyfish and DW8 (R.I.P) or the waxing/waning of u/SlaughterRain and their WBT commentary, u/Maleficent_Ad_1982 has become our most obsessive poster. (having said that, WBT has fairly clearly won the giga-chad award for the chippie stonks, so big ups to slaughter given they backed this one through highs and lows)
I've gone back in time to the original comment when they were so young and starry eyed, dreaming of quick bags on AZL to the First countdown post, the melt-down at day 100 and now the grizzled wreckage of a human we see before us to show just how deep this rabbit hole goes. In particular, I enjoyed the anniversary rant on day 365. You've got to admire the determination, if not be slightly concerned about the obsessive compulsiveness...
(Based on a suggestion from u/AntiCGT Mods are currently trialing a Rule 12 regarding starting a countdown, we will see whether we can be bothered pursuing this or not in time..)
RETURN OF THE SOULESS DAY-WALKER
Our resident ginger, u/FameLuck served out their year long ban and returned this year in a blaze of, well, glory I guess. Mods conferred behind the scenes and decided to offer the ginga ninja a slot in the Banning of the Tards Hall of Fame, where he sits beside revered company indeed with Big Jim, Kooksy, Stinky, Mutated and Josh. Another point about ginge, he definitely loves a bit of experimentation.
Also, there is a a very weird 3-way fetish thing with u/ChZakalwe and u/Blisser_the_sniff. Still, it earnt Chaz some shiny heels to go with that utopian scam dream flair, so not all was lost.
SPEAKING OF CUNTS...
While we are on the topic, lets have a little rehash of when u/Mutated_Cunt mercilessly dissected fabled doggie ZIP. In the post aptly titled anatomy of a dog, our resident genitalia deformity systematically destroys Larry's love child with disturbing precision.
It appears though, that we will not be able to enjoy the cunts commentary any further, a thread on Atayls seemed to indicate that reddit had nuked their account.
THE LITHIUM BUG
- u/Jswyft has been banging on about the Lithium cycle for long enough now that even the most smooth brained amongst us have at least had the opportunity to make some tendies. Whether you're into that type of thing or not, we have to give a shout out to the Lithium king and all the information he puts up here for you fuckers.
- u/SoftTopMafia also provided an interesting post regarding the Lithium Bulls.
RENEWABLES?
- Its been a big topic in the markets this last year. u/BigJimBeef kicked off the renewable energy debate in this post and its had a thread running through a lot of the sub conversations ever since.
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
- Love her, loathe her, don't care or whatever, there is no denying that the world lost an iconic figure in 2022. In fitting ASX_Bets style, u/zupahorse made us a touching tribute to our departed overlord.
WAKA WAKA
- Fucking Waka Waka. Scotty and the boys rose to BRN levels of fomo when they discovered something spicy in the dirt across the sea. There were innumerable shit posts, comments, average DD assessments and the bets. Oh my lord the bets. We managed to ban half the sub due to a failed drill bit.
Fittingly, the peoples Mod u/mcfucking created a touching video representation of the whole debacle.
SOME OTHER STUFF
- Not to be deterred by the already impressive volume of dog-shit on the exchange, u/Outrageous_Junket817 floated the possibility of starting a mining company.
- u/dontletmedaytrade put up a post on Credit Suisse and the financial impacts of a crash, which was actually a pretty good read and commentary.
- u/Far_unit9020 created a write up about Red Flags. Applicable to majority of the subs tinder profiles and stonk choices, this one was another good read.
- u/TwoMenOneJar dropped in and set the daily threads on fire. Clearly a stray, they wandered off-lead from the den of HC into our wholesome little sub, proceeded to argue with and then block half the users here.
Now, a little ditty that we couldn't share with you then that I'll share with you now. Behind the scenes, a message was quietly sent to the lad regarding misusing the ''reddit report'' function. They responded with a message of their own, stating they had also been reported for self-harm. So obviously, they could not be the culprit as they are clearly the victim. A screenshot was produced. They had indeed been reported for self-harm. However, they had also neglected to crop out the previous reddit alerts, including the ones about ''we have reviewed the report you made''...
Remember folks, when you're purchasing stonks, this is the calibre of intellect you are betting against...
PURGE/COMPS
As always, we ran THE PURGE. Congratulations to u/MotherFuck3rJones who was the winner this time round. Our loser, currently serving out their year ban was the infamous u/logofpoo. They made a fitting farewell post from the deed.
- u/FameLuck ran the first ASX_Bets Dog Race.
- u/LegendoftheASX produced a write up about 2023 predictions. Fittingly, sub veteran u/WowVeryJosh took it a mile further, with a 2023 stonk picking comp.
MOD STUFF
- We had a few decent debates this year. Mods try and put up posts about current events, it gives us some direction as opposed to just running it all through the daily threads. Also highlights that we do have some wrinkled brains amongst the smoothness...
- recession debate
- Interest rate debates
- Budget night debates
- As is tradition, a perma-ban victim was released from the dungeon during Easter. Congrats u/Competitive_Copy2451, our shit post content went up an awful lot.
- Now, we all know there is no justice like angry mob justice. So, kangaroo court was back in session this year.
- April Fools this year had the Mod team partnering with Netflix. Oddly enough, there is actually some reasonably funny back story to alot of the sub and it Nope, it's a fucking terrible idea.
THE ELUSIVE 100K
Well, it finally happened. Over 100,000 of you cucks in this cesspool. Un-fucking-believable.
SHIT-POSTS
If we have said it once, we have said it 47 million times. Above all, we love YOLO's, shit-posts and dank memes. Here is but a sampling of the top shelf collection from the last 12 months...
- u/yothuyindi with some upbeat advice for the resident ZIP hodlers, a beat for the boomers, an Attenborough special and a ASX_Bets personalized ETF. Some fine work from one of our finest users.
- u/Far_Unit9020 discovered origins of LKE and provided us with an always popular Hitler parody.
- u/BigJimBeef had us in stitches with a, well, I'm actually not sure but it's funny as fuck and it has a fish in it. He also provided a sage reminder of the darker side of the year, the lettuce saga of 2022
- u/litres-of-cum made a little zippy ride
- u/Jenky83 provided some top shelf meme work with this offering
- u/HiVisEngineer got in on the act, giving us some lithium perspective
- u/prestiCH did the financial review for us
- u/hunnymunster made sure we never forget our cuck friends over at Ausfinance
- u/Denominator_K gave us the Lambo inspiration when times were dark and a hotcrapper pummelling.
- u/zupahorse cancelled the recession and for an encore gave us an American Psycho parody for the ages. They created a little super-mario throwback, even Bluey got a run...
- It's rare to get a shit-post series, but thats exactly what u/justjohncliff has given us with their advertising saga
- u/Competitive_Copy2451 gave us a rundown of what to expect from interest rate hikes, a tribute to sub dog DW8, more Scotty- Mac posts than you'll know what to do with and a rundown of the ASX dogs.
- u/sneakycutler with a , well, its pretty fucking disturbing whatever it is
- u/kervio made an oddly heart-warming musical piece for you all to enjoy here, with some shout out's to the departed.
- u/Instantly-Regret, (who by the way has the most on point username on the entire sub), made us a Monopoly game in honor of some of the sub's finest doggies...
- u/i_bid_thee_adieu had a sneaky little swipe at Rusty Rake Capital and their obsession with BOQ earnings
GAINS
As always, this is but a mere sampling of the gains.
- The gains posts have been a little thin this past year, however ASX_Bets rare earths mogul u/Calculated-Punt managed to make a fucking lot of bags on this little puppy
- u/FurcationInvolvement showed us what a 600% gain looks like.

2023.05.07 16:34 filmgarb Is swapping my NG furnace for a heat pump a bad idea?

Location: Central NJ, USA
I need to replace my current central AC system. My current NG furnace is 20 years old and while it is still working, multiple service techs have told me I would probably have to replace it soon. I figured since I have to do my AC, I might as well do both at the same time.
I had a few installers gave me quotes. 2 quotes were for "swaps", where they would basically replace the components I currently have with newer ones. I do not have the specifics around those quotes right now, but I don't believe it includes a super high efficiency furnace since there was some mention of venting concerns with the current location of the furnace. I was looking at around $10k - $12k with these quotes.
One of the installers suggested going with a heat pump. I've heard a lot about heat pumps and the idea of them interests me. However, I have some concerns about significantly increasing the cost of heating in the winter. I have solar that covers around 85% of my electrical usage.
Just a note, the only installer to do a manual J was the one who suggested the heat pump after doing that. My current system is oversized.
Current setup:
Heat Pump Swap:
Optional additional zone addon:
Current energy costs:
Personal motivation for the swap:
Looking at this calculator, I am told "The heat pump is cheaper as long as the COP is larger than 2.25." And the calculator tells me I will save 40% on cooling and it will cost 27% less to heat my home. Is that realistic?
In another reddit comment, I read that if 1 mcf is cheaper than 120 kwh, it will be cheaper to heat with NG (unfortunately I can't find that comment right now and it might be an oversimplification of the costs involved).
I understand the electrical bill will go up since I am now using electricity via the heat pump to heat the home, but I was hoping to save some money or pay about the same in the long run. My concern is that I will end up paying significantly more annually to control the climate of the home.
Could anyone share some thoughts on this conversion?

2023.03.16 19:35 Opethfan1984 Prerequisite Technologies for Economically Viable Nuclear Fusion:

To improve the economic viability of fusion power stations, several prerequisite technologies and advancements need to be developed or enhanced. Some of these key areas include:
  1. Plasma confinement and control: Improved technologies for confining and controlling the high-temperature plasma in which fusion occurs are crucial. This can be achieved through advancements in both magnetic confinement fusion (MCF) systems, such as tokamaks and stellarators, and inertial confinement fusion (ICF) methods that use lasers or particle beams. Better confinement and control will increase the efficiency of fusion reactions and reduce energy losses, ultimately leading to a higher net energy output.
  2. Materials science: Developing materials capable of withstanding the extreme temperatures, radiation, and mechanical stresses in a fusion environment is vital. These materials should have high thermal conductivity, low activation under neutron bombardment, and resistance to erosion and degradation. Advanced materials will contribute to longer reactor lifetimes, reduced maintenance requirements, and lower operational costs.
  3. Tritium breeding and fuel cycle management: Tritium, one of the fuel components in fusion reactions, is scarce and has a relatively short half-life. Developing efficient technologies for breeding tritium within the reactor and managing the fuel cycle is essential for the long-term sustainability and economic viability of fusion power. This includes advancements in blanket technologies for tritium breeding and systems for fuel processing and recycling.
  4. Heat extraction and power conversion: Efficiently extracting heat from the fusion reaction and converting it into electricity is crucial for the economic viability of fusion power stations. Improved heat exchangers, coolants, and power conversion systems, such as advanced thermoelectric or thermophotovoltaic devices, will increase the overall efficiency of the power plant, reducing costs and enhancing economic viability.
  5. Reactor design and engineering: Innovative reactor designs that reduce complexity, minimize maintenance requirements, and lower construction costs are essential for improving the economic viability of fusion power stations. Compact fusion reactors, spherical tokamaks, and modular designs can potentially lead to cost reductions and facilitate more rapid deployment of fusion technology.
  6. Automation and robotics: Fusion reactors will require sophisticated automation and robotics technologies for remote handling, inspection, maintenance, and repair due to the high radiation levels and challenging operating conditions. Advancements in these areas will reduce human intervention, improve operational efficiency, and decrease the costs associated with maintaining fusion power plants.
  7. Simulation and modeling: Enhanced computational modeling and simulation techniques will help optimize reactor design, plasma control, and materials performance. These tools can reduce the need for expensive experimental tests, accelerate the development process, and contribute to a better understanding of the complex physics involved in fusion reactions.
By addressing these technological challenges and prerequisites, the economic viability of fusion power stations can be improved, bringing us closer to realizing the potential of nuclear fusion as a clean, sustainable, and virtually limitless energy source.

2023.03.02 05:41 robjdib Oppose Natural Gas Phase Out - NY Assembly Bill A625

Please consider sending the below letter to all NYS lawmakers to help oppose NY Assembly Bill A625, This is the bill to phase out natural gas usage in NYS.
The letter has been loaded into Resist Bot.
All you have to do is text SIGN PSKZFE TO 50409.
The bot will take care of the rest after receiving some basic info from you.

I am writing to express my deep concern about an issue that affects many New Yorkers and our community as a whole. As a concerned citizen and resident of this state, I believe that it is our responsibility to work together to address this critical issue and find a solution that benefits everyone. I am confident that by working together and using facts and reason, we can make a positive difference in the lives of our constituents and the future of our state. I hope to illustrate why the passage of NY Assembly Bill A625 or any other legislation that seeks to limit residential natural gas usage is a detriment to the well-being of NY residents and a misguided approach to carbon neutrality.
Misguided Approach to Environmentalism
The intent of this legislation is to reduce the carbon footprint of NY by mandating the phase out of natural gas appliances. The replacement electric appliances will harness energy generated by New York’s electrical grid.
Today, the majority of electricity produced in NYS is generated through the combustion of fossil fuels. The average efficiency of these power stations is 60% (60% of the combusted fuel is ultimately converted to electricity).
In contrast residential natural gas appliances have operated at an efficiency of 80% for the last 50 years. Modern appliances operate at >= 95%.
Passing this legislation would only work to shift the site that fossil fuels are consumed. Our government partially exists to organize large scale infrastructure projects for the public good. Instead of pushing costs of (limited impact) environmentalism to private citizens our lawmakers should instead be investing in large scale projects to modernize our grid with nuclear, wind, and solar energy production. True impacts to the environment can only be realized if the original source of our energy is shifted from fossil fuels.
Costs to Residents
Costs associated with this legislation can split into two categories:
1. Initial gas to electric conversion costs: The average home in NYS operates on an electrical budget of 100amps. In order to meet the electrical demand this legislation would entail; homeowners would be required to refit their homes with a 400amp electrical service. This retrofit requires a complete removal and replacement of every component from the electrical lines outside the home to the breaker and wiring within the home. The costs associated with this can easily total more than $20,000. It is important to note that the median household income in NY is $72,000
  1. Ongoing operating costs: According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), as of 2021, the average cost of natural gas delivered to residential and commercial customers was around $10 per thousand cubic feet (Mcf), which is equivalent to approximately $10.50 per million BTUs (MMBtu). By contrast, the average retail price of electricity for residential customers was around $0.13 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which is equivalent to approximately $12.30 per million BTUs. Therefore, at today’s natural gas prices a consumer can expect to spend 17% more on energy than in the past. It is important to note that natural gas prices have increased 50% in the last year due to supply chain issues. Assuming these issues subside and natural gas prices normalize the energy costs to consumers will have increased by 134%
Lastly in relation to costs, I believe it is important to note that NYS leads the nation in population loss. It is well understood that a large part of this exodus is due to the tax burden, imposing these significant costs on residents will only exasperate this ongoing trend.
Electrical Grid Limitations
Today the electrical grid in NY produces 42 gigawatts of electricity. Consider a scenario where this legislation is passed and 10% of NY residents forgo their gas appliances for electric power. This would require an additional 5 gigawatts of electrical capacity.
To accomplish in a carbon neutral manner, we must:
· Construct a 5-10 billion dollar solar farm that consumes 80-200 square kilometers of land
· Construct 7.5-15 billon dollar wind farm made up of 1500 turbines
· Construct 5 AP1000 nuclear reactors for a cost of 20-50 billion dollars
Emergency Power
New York State has a diverse climate due to its location in the northeastern United States, with four distinct seasons and varying weather patterns throughout the year. Generally, the climate of New York State is characterized by cold winters, mild summers, and moderate precipitation throughout the year. Snowfall is common in most parts of the state during the winter months, with average snowfall ranging from around 30 inches (76 cm) in the lower Hudson Valley to over 100 inches (254 cm) in the Adirondack Mountains.
In this past winter areas of NY experienced winter weather related catastrophes. Buffalo, NY in particular experienced a winter weather event that led to a complete shutdown of the region due to infrastructure failure which ultimately led to fatalities. The number of fatalities was largely limited by reliability of natural gas appliances allowing residents to maintain some level of warmth in arctic conditions. Passing of this legislation would undoubtably lead to increased cold related fatalities during the next significant winter weather event.
In conclusion, I strongly urge you to consider the concerns that I have outlined in this letter. It is my hope that you will take action to address the pressing issue facing our community and our state by opposing NY Assembly Bill A625 or any other legislation that seeks to limit residential natural gas usage. I believe that by working together and enacting positive change, we can create a brighter future for all New Yorkers. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

2022.08.06 19:51 HugeRaspberry My Best effort to add to what was already answered....

could have posted under the other one - but put it separate for visibility.

  1. Wtf did " my sister " mean? And it wasn't that Cathy had a drink.
- I highly doubt it meant that Kathleen (No one I've ever seen has called her Cathy with a C) - had a drink. It has been speculated that the first stop Tim made after picking her up from rehab was a liquor store... Which would be enough to send a normal person over the edge.
It also could be complete nonsense / made up / an excuse to get off the desk. Desk duty on a snow night at dorm is probably the most exciting thing in the world - next to actually having to clean up a toilet after a drunk uses it.
2. Why weren't the atm photos immediately released. Years went by and even then only 1 grainy image, that may not even be mm. And why did fm say yeah that's maura in the atm pic. Very unusual, who else would it be? Investigators are telling you this is the time her atm card was used.
LE was not going to release anything on this case directly to the family that they didn't have to. My speculation is that after Fred's lawsuit - LE didn't even want to talk to the family - much less release anything.
I can think of at least one other case where LE released something to a SINGLE member of the media - and not to the family - nor to anyone else who requested it - even other news / entertainment outlets
It very well could be that this was a piece offering from LE to the Family.
3. Why does fm not care what happened prior to the disappearance? That defies logic.
I don't think it is that he doesn't care, I think it more likely he DOES care, but doesn't believe there is a connection between the events in the days prior and what happened on or after the WBC Corner.
4. Why was jm not involved in the search initially, but br was granted leave?
This has been covered many times including by Julie herself. Bottom line - JM was told by Fred to hold off coming. Additionally she had a different duty assignment than Bill did at the time. Bill was at an artillery training base. Julie was at a forward deployment base - and was likely to be deployed sooner than Bill.
5. Were mm and br on again off again or engaged to be engaged? Interesting that jm says they were on again off again. Is that to absolve guilt if the truth comes out? Just theorizing. It is quite odd that stbsys they were pre engaged. Quite the discrepancy there.
I suspect there are elements of the truth to both sides of this statement. Maura reported was looking at moving to OK to be closer to Bill. On the other hand she was in a long distance relationship with someone who's career was in the Army - that she had quit. So I'm sure there were tensions between them... and we know both strayed.
6,7,8. Why did Renner say everyone is lying? the family private eye quit because he felt the family was lying? The director of a hotline and reward pulled the hotline and the reward after she felt the family was hostile and untrustworthy?
Renner stated that everyone was lying because he likely got very different or slightly different versions of things from different people. As an Ex Police officer - you of all people should know that two different people can see the exact same thing and come up with completely different versions of what happened. Keep in mind that Renner also did not talk to the family until after years had passed. He was not involved on day one.
No private investigator that I am aware of quit the case because they felt the family was lying. As u/goldenmom4gr pointed out - the only investigator to quit was the NHLI - who stopped looking into the case when Fred insisted on suing the state of NH. And by the way - before they quit - they talked to NHSP and agreed they were all on the same page as the their suspect / what happened. And it didn't involve BR.
The reasons for the reward being pulled were many and complex. Fred likely felt that if a tip was given to the hotline - he would never hear about it - or that the NHSP would hide it from him / cover for their own. (locals) Basically - Fred (rightly or not) wanted to know about all tips at the same time as LE was informed. Fred also knew that once NHSP got ahold of a tip - no information would ever be released again about it.
7. Why did jm repeatedly call the hotline and hang up? Makes no sense. It's not up to jm to make sure a hotline is operational as some would want you to believe. And even so wouldn't she briefly say to the volunteer hey its jm thanks for your help.
Maybe the hotline was a security blanket for Julie? I don't know or pretend to know what she was thinking or feeling... Maybe calling it and hearing she sister's name made her believe that people cared. I don't think there was a nefarious reason behind it - or that she had some long hidden tip that she wanted to share.
8. Where are the liquor store videos/photo of mm which she went to immediately after the atm?? Where is the rest stop video/photo of mm. She had a full tank of gas at the crash. Starting to see that mm may never have been in the car that night, and possibly not even at the ATM.
I believe that there is liquor store footage (and maybe even gas station footage) of Maura that does exist, but we will never see it - unless the NH AG changes his / her mind. NH is under no obligation to release anything to the public. Or the family.
Given the number of lunatics and false / fake tips / evidence that has been submitted to the NHSP I really believe they think they would open a pandora's box and regret releasing those photos / videos.
Based on investigators I have spoken with - they were able to track Maura (and yes they are / were sure it was her) from Umass Amherst through Vermont to NH. They believe that at some point in or near Haverhill she got into a situation where she was no longer in complete control of her actions and that she in fact was at the scene of the car, but was not able to do anything but what she was told to do.
9. If number 8 is possible, then there is no crime scene in Haverhill. Not a shoddy job by Haverhill and NHSP, maybe an excellent job. Maybe they realize what we are now theorizing. Which is why they removed the blue ribbon tree and why the family still wants the focus there. NHSP may realize this whole thing is a farce and nothing happened in Haverhill..
I am pretty sure LE believes she was at the car - whether in control or not, and that the "crime" if one exists did occur in or near Haverhill.
LE had nothing to do with the removal of the Blue Ribbon tree. The land that it was on was privately owned and the owners decided they wanted to clear the land. Once again - someone who is clueless making an assumption and not digging for facts.
The State did twice deny the family a memorial plaque at the scene - so maybe that is what you're referring to. The state's justification was that it was not a historically significant event.
10. Jm couldn't get leave, but had a trip planned with sa and km.
As one of the Anti BR people like to point out - the Military base is not a prison complex. Julie would have likely put in for planned leave for the time of spring break - and it was likely for days - not weeks.
11. Jm doesn't answer the hard questions on tic tok.
She can answer what she choses - maybe she doesn't have answers for the "hard" questions - anymore than the rest of us do.
12. Something that always bothered me... why was fm going up to buy a car with an impending snowstorm. The semester just started, why wasn't a car purchased at home before she left? And the car wasn't that bad, it just passed inspection and it made it to haverhill. Buying one immediately was not necessary.
The snowstorm had already occurred (it was Thursday night / Friday - it was over and gone by the time he got there on Saturday. I'm pretty sure they were keeping an eye on the weather and he would have canceled had he felt that travel was not safe.
As for the condition of the car - everyone has said the same thing - it was a piece of shit. Cars go bad - rather quickly sometimes. I had a car that was fine - at 118k miles. I sold it and by 128k miles it was dead. Had another one that I sold at 12k miles... at 23k miles - the engine blew up. Shit happens.
I have no knowledge of MA auto inspections. I grew up in the midwest - where thankfully states haven't started the "inspection" / repair money grab yet. I do know in DE the inspection is pretty easy - lights on, turn signals on, exhaust measure - done.
I honestly think people were shocked the car made it to Haverhill.
13. All the anomalies with the br story. His leave and alibi is NOT rock solid, not even close.
Art / Maggie are the ones who said his alibi is rock solid. He was in OK on 2/9... Even for a walk away dwi - LE certainly would have checked that. We now also have a redditor saying he / she served with Bill in OK and the FBI (which would make sense) called / interviewed people to confirm the alibi.
And honestly - if le thought that Bill had the slightest involvement in this - don't you think they would have arrested him by now? Yeah - me too... Bill's chances of involvement while not zero are certainly a lot lower than a lot of people think - and probably only slightly more likely than bigfoot or aliens.
14. Why did El say she may have passed the location? Either you did or didn't, el seems like a bright lady. She would know. Does she want to possibly put herself there in case someone else does.
Erinn heard about the podcast and Renner's blog - presumably via the tv show. She attended UMass at the same time as Maura and presumably had an interest in the case. Similar to how the CW was looking at his records and remembered that he may have seen a figure on the side of the road, Erinn remembered that she had been on a family ski trip in that area AROUND the time Maura vanished. She rechecked her mother's records and found that she was off by a week.
Not surprising that after 10 or so years she could be mistaken... but hey when it comes to her we have to take it all as gospel or intentional - whereas with outhers we let them slide or expect less than perfection.
15. El didn't know mm supposedly, and br even less. Why does she dedicate a podcast to this case and try to clear br at every turn? And her not knowing mm is bs. She was on a track/xc team with her. There are 25 or so girls that run for hours, 6 days a week. Also her sorority little sister was mm best friend. And they worked the same campus job. She knew mm.
If you look at the track records from the school and actually read them - you will find that Erinn was a Freshman on the track team that you (2003-4) - Maura is NOT listed on the Fall 2003 roster or the Spring 2004 roster. Which indicates that she did not run either season for UMass. Which means she likely did not know Erinn or vice versa - other than they may have heard the other's name.
Yes, they both worked dorm security (which is NOT a cop / police by any standard) - but that doesn't mean that they knew each other. Unless they worked the same shifts / dorms / for the same supervisor - it is unlikely that they would have ever met - except maybe in passing at a training session. I worked security at much smaller school than Maura - I did not know everyone who was on "Nightwatch" - I knew the people i went through training with and who regularly worked the same shifts as I did and who worked the same dorms as me.... I would walk campus at nights not on duty and see Nightwatch people who I had no clue who they were - and they didn't know me from Adam.
16. Why did El give fake leads in the investigation? Why does the m family cozy up to her and make her a close confidante?
Erinn is a valued and respected collaborator with the family. As for the fake tip, I think it was a bad idea that got out of hand... and she did not think it would blow up like it did.
17. Why did br wife ask point blank if he was involved and then divorce him shortly thereafter?
As my old business law prof used to say - there is no feud like a divorce. Divorces and events leading up to them get nasty and things are said in anger that are better not said.
As an ex LE - you should 100% know that domestics are the LAST call any LE wants to get...
18. Why did br sister commit suicide after saying she wanted to report a crime. And btw, that suicide was never a closed case as a definite suicide.
Funny - this was disproven by Renner of all people.
19. Why is sr for 2 decades stil overly ivolved in this case? Br has had new girlfriends, a wife, children.. sorry but that is odd
Odd that she cared enough about the one GF of her son's that she actually loved? Not really. When I was dating - I dated a woman - and my mother loved her... she carried on for years about why did I dump her, etc... Until the day that woman married another man... Mothers do strange things.
20. Why are the posters on rediit that are not of the br did it camp so overly defensive? If you told me br didn't do it I'd be like ok that's your opinion. I wouldn't attack you on numerous social media platforms.
Well I am not on any other social platform - so - there's that... but honestly I think this sides thing is ridiculous and put forth by a few people to get blog views / podcast listens / or just to cause drama for the sake of causing drama. I have said - and I still mean it - I am willing to have an adult conversation with anyone who is willing to do the same - regarding any theory.
But when I ask for even a shred of evidence or explanation as to how BR could have done it - or been involved - no one can show me (or anyone) anything. It is all lies, hearsay or conjecture...
And I generally don't attack out of the blue - I do reserve the right to defend myself against false accusations and statements.
21. Why does br call km,sa and west pt. Professors over 50x in the days leading up to the disappearance? When he never called them prior . Ever.
Bill actually called McDonald often - as he viewed him as a mentor. Bill was trying to connect with Maura that weekend and was unable to. There were several missed calls on both sides. He may have tried to call Kate to figure out what was going on and see if she knew anything. I believe Sara had Maura's cell phone for a period of time - so it is possible that Bill was calling her in the hope that Maura was there.
22. Why does sr, br sr., and mcd and mcf wife immediately respond to Haverhill with thousands of missing persons flyers? All we had was a dwi walkaway at this point . Imagine if mm showed up after she sobered up. Odd response to say the least. Mcd wife was interviewing fw? Odd. Why? To see what she knew?
I think it was obvious when Maura did not call Fred on Monday evening as promised (even though she had the forms) that something more than a simple DWI walkway was at play here. Maybe there were signs in the week prior that she was cracking and about to cave in... or have a breakdown. And per Bob M - they didn't "drop everything and run" - they came up on friday - after classes and since Christine had to teach on the following week - they left after the weekend.
Obviously anyone associated with Maura / Bill would want to talk to the last person / people who may have seen her. Faith was one of the last 2-3 people to see Maura / someone at the car. Maybe Faith could have provided additional details that she left out to the police?
23. Why does br say he searched for mm for a month? It was 10 days. Why oversell it?
You'd have to ask him but to me it is obvious that a month sounds like more than 10 days.
24. The whole leave thing, the plane ticket, the phone being shut off at key moments?
I have beaten that horse to death. Per multiple sources - there is no requirement for US Airlines to hold passenger data for any length of time - therefore most MAJOR airlines don't. Data is expensive. And a data breach is even more expensive. Smart companies only keep what is required for how long it is needed and then destroy it.
25. The fact that br and jm never cross paths. Br goes back to base, then jm shows up.
This in and of itself doesn't prove anything - life goes on... Bill did not have unlimited leave nor did Julie.
26. The br Washington dc conviction, and his treatment of girlfriends throughout his life, as well as women in general.
Art said - Bill 100% fit the profile - assuming he meant the profile of a jealous lover, husband, BF, whatever - who would have killed or harmed someone close to him, if given the opportunity. But then in the next sentence Art said - "Rock solid alibi " - so I seriously doubt that LE considers him a more viable suspect than little green men.

2022.07.29 13:06 AMG-44 Saudi Energy Ambition: From Oil to Gas [ECON]

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is often associated w/oil. After all, it is the world’s largest exporter of the “black gold”, and its economy is heavily reliant on it. However, Saudi Arabia also has plenty of natural gas and a strong foundation on which to achieve grand plans for its natural gas reserves. Riyadh has three main goals; to more than double gas production, to eliminate the use of oil in power generation and to become a gas exporter.

The Kingdom is looking to enter the global gas sector with the $100 billion-plus Jafurah project which is on track to produce up to 2 billion cubic feet per day by 2030; The field’s estimated reserves, while substantial, are insufficient to meet current domestic needs and, in the future, displace dirty heavy fuel oil used in power generation and satisfy international export goals. The kingdom thus faces difficult decisions regarding the allocation of the Jafurah gas — to either domestic or international markets — and both options have significant challenges; Domestic demand for natural gas is expected to increase by 3.7% annually to 2030. Natural gas will play a key role in our Vision 2030 development plan, As such gas output will need to rise by as much as 6.6% on average per year in the decade to 2030 to meet domestic demand driven by growing power and industrial needs, Which is a bare minimum as the Kingdom also has international ambitions to utilize its reserves to become a key player in the LNG and natural gas markets with Europe and Asia being potential customers in-mind.

Our natural gas reserves stands at 319.5 trillion cubic feet (tcf); Aramco has committed to invest at least $110 billion in the development of the Jafurah Field, a newly discovered gas field with estimated reserves of 200 tcf, Jafurah will increase the Saudi gas reserves by a staggering 63%! Aramco has to ramp up operations to achieve forecast 2024 production levels.

Aramco has technical skills that can be applied and utilized in the development of Jafurah. However, the company’s technical focus has been oil production in carbonate reservoirs. It deploys modern technology to manage these expansive fields. Additionally, Aramco has delivered major capital projects such as natural gas and crude oil treatment plants. That said, most of the natural gas produced in the kingdom is associated gas, which is reinjected for pressure maintenance of the all-important oil reservoirs to ensure production and cash flow. Aramco has minimal experience in tight gas play delineation or development and is woefully understaffed with technical specialists in this sector. U.S. oil and gas giants such Exxon can be partnered with which have decades of experience and have developed a multigenerational workforce, To provide “specialization” Saudi Aramco transfers its gas related infrastructure, projects and workforce at-large to a new wholly owned subsidiary by the name of Saudi Gasco or Saudi Arabian Gas Company which plans to start production from Jafurah by 2024 and reach 2.2 billion cubic feet (bcf) per day by 2036

The Kingdom also requires wider domestic infrastructure to distribute Jafurah gas within the country in both the Eastern Province and the mountainous western regions where pipeline infrastructure is non-existent and extremely costly to build, Gasco commits to a $5-10 billion gas pipeline expansion project into the Jeddah region and southward toward Jizan with additional costs expected for power plant conversion from burning heavy fuel oil to natural gas; Revision of domestic gas pricing policy is also required to ensure commercial success, $1.25/million cubic feet (mcf) is simply untenable with an estimated $1.50/mcf capital costs, The Kingdom must increase domestic gas prices to $2.50-3.25/mcf to reflect market induced realities. As stated earlier our ambition is to enter the global gas business again and build new business opportunities in the hydrogen and carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) sectors utilizing new domestic gas production, Saudi Gasco will pursue targeted acquisitions of assets and companies and seek strategic partnerships as alluded to earlier.

The ultimate goal is to build an international gas business using other integrated energy company multinationals which can contribute significantly to the company cash flow within 10 years. The Kingdom has taken aggressive steps already; has allocated dedicated resources and capital investment and conducted external engagements with potential business partners and has established market credibility in LNG marketing and trading and equity positions in several LNG assets in time to capture an uptick in the global LNG market; the Jafurah reserves are insufficient to satisfy domestic gas needs and international gas aspirations, As such Saudi Gasco has committed to significant capital investments to support the development of green and blue hydrogen production, Any hydrogen generated in the country must be transported by vessels that have yet to be designed to carry the hydrogen fuel safely and economically, One option to export hydrogen is via ammonia carriers and converting cargo to hydrogen at the destination. Saudi Gasco also intends to expand into the international gas market by first building a regional gas presence. Any gas in the Ghawar region and the Rub al-Khali could be linked to the Emirati and/or Omani gas networks and exported to global markets via their operating LNG facilities. Integrating with the Omanis provides access into the Indian Ocean, providing a geopolitical advantage as cargoes would avoid the Strait of Hormuz.

Gasco also intends to expand the domestic gas infrastructure network and develop a gas export facility on the Red Sea coast. Such a facility provides us with a commercial advantage to reach the Atlantic and Europe. This liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal on the Red Sea coast of the Kingdom will have three operating liquefaction units (trains) with a combined baseload capacity of 1.98 Bcf/d and peak capacity of 2.14 Bcf/d and a correspondingly hefty development cost of $15 billion, the project has added commercial appeal after discovery of large quantities of gas in the Red Sea; Our gas development program is expected to attract as much as $150 billion in investment over the next decade with production increasing to 23 billion cubic feet a day from the current 14 billion cf/d which allows 75 percent of the utilities sector in Saudi Arabia to be on gas, and the rest on renewable and nuclear alternatives with as much as 3 to 5 billion cubic feet of gas exported to foreign markets per day, providing the Kingdom with a sizeable source of revenue.
