2024.04.30 22:56 The_Incredible-DrL Should i go i7-12700k (w 4060ti 16gb) or an i7-13700k (w 6750xt 12gb) for video editing/gaming?

I'm building a 1440p PC Build for the aim of Gaming/Video editing (profeesionnal)/Streaming/Photshop/Work.
My budget is just 1300euros.
I was going to go the build i originally made with I7-13700K and RX 6750xt because AMD have better performance and great reputation. But after some research, AMD drivers are considered not the best when it comes to video editing/photoshop. So Nvidia was the way to go i saw. I found a 4060 16gb that fits in to my budget by downgrading to a 12700k, but this driver has a really bad reputation for price-performance ratio (when it's on par with the 6700xt from what i saw).
Or I can get am i5-13600k and go a little over budget.

2024.04.30 22:24 Casprr09 Help me with my fathers fujitsu

My father has a old PC from fujitsu with a D3220-A12 GS Motherboard. Im pretty sure that it has a PCI Express ×16 and a PCI Express ×1 slot. Can he put any type of wifi in there that isn't a usb stick? (Or a stick faster than 6 mbps) His ethernet port is broken so that isn't a option. He just wants faster internet so he has less ping. He says that his eyes are too old to notice any graphics changes so that doesnt matter to him Specs if neccesary: I5 4th gen Gtx 750 Mobo: D3220-A12 GS 16gigs ram

2024.04.30 20:33 Meep8424 Help regarding the "stop code: clock watchdog timeout" error

Around the middle of April, I began building my first PC with the following specs:
* The CPU and GPU were from a Prebuilt HP Pavilion computer that I got back in 2021.
The build process went well and I was able to boot into the bios and update the version of the bios. However, when I used a USB flash drive to boot into Windows Setup to download Windows 11, I started to run into this issue frequently. I was able to start the installation of Windows 11, but once the percentage reached around 30%-50%, the computer would either restart back to the Windows Setup screen or freeze/hang.
I've tried the following:
I tried to install Windows 11 using CSM, but it was the same issue. However, when the computer froze it gave me the standard BSOD error instead of just hanging or bringing me back to the Windows Setup screen, but with the "stop code: clock watchdog timeout" code. Out of everything I have tried to do, I haven't replaced the CPU. Could the CPU be the issue? I have a suspecion that the CPU is failing.

2024.04.30 20:32 nahmanhajdklfjdsflkj mixin transformation of net.minecraft.class_761 failed

this is the crash report of it, it only happens if i add the Pandas Extra details mod, and it may be because it isn't compatible with my >130 other mods, OR it is causing the crash as it is in beta, i downloaded satin api which was what a different post about this fixed it with, but it didnt work

2024.04.30 20:13 mega444PL My DDR5 RAM keeps failing stability tests with JEDEC settings

I've been fighting for quite a while to have my first PC build working. Since beginning it was unstable and causing BSoD. I've been testing it mostly with MemTest86, sometimes with Prime95 or OCCT. At first I thought it was my fault because when I removed CPU and cooler I found bent pins on motherboard socket. After a month I had it repaired under warranty, but the problem still occurs.
With MemTest86 I get almost all errors on Test 9 [Modulo 20, Random pattern]. I've been trying different BIOS settings like increasing/decreasing DRAM Voltage. To make testing quicker I've been limiting MemTest86 to only 4 repeats of Test 9 and only doing full set of tests if they pass.
One setting which looked "stable" was using EXPO profile and increasing dram voltage from 1.25V to 1.3V. It was able to pass "Test 9 only" tests, but it was still failing full set of tests (errors on Test 9). After some testing when I wanted to return to these settings, they stopped passing even the short tests. Default EXPO or JEDEC settings don't work too.
The weird thing about all errors is that they always occur on Test 9 (one full scan threw errors on Test 5, but Test 9 is always the one to fail first) and all actual values are always exact bit opposite of expected value.
E.g:
2024-04-28 14:34:28 - [Data Error] Test: 9, CPU: 8, Address: 32F3C83D0, Expected: 13996F4F, Actual: EC6690B0 2024-04-28 14:34:28 - [Data Error] Test: 9, CPU: 8, Address: 32F1C83F0, Expected: 13996F4F, Actual: EC6690B0 2024-04-28 14:32:02 - [Data Error] Test: 9, CPU: 10, Address: 1F3B734D8, Expected: F917CB2E, Actual: 06E834D1 2024-04-28 14:32:02 - [Data Error] Test: 9, CPU: 10, Address: 1F39734F8, Expected: F917CB2E, Actual: 06E834D1 2024-04-28 14:31:17 - [Data Error] Test: 9, CPU: 8, Address: 19736F5E0, Expected: AD4EB502, Actual: 52B14AFD 2024-04-28 14:31:11 - [Data Error] Test: 9, CPU: 0, Address: 1A7B5F170, Expected: 49904942, Actual: B66FB6BD
This one seems weird for me because I was unable to find errors like this on other reddit threads, they always have only one bit flipped. Can my errors be caused by some misconfiguration of CPU/RAM and can some BIOS settings potentially make my setup stable?
PC parts:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi Memory: Kingston FURY Beast 16 GB (1 x 16 GB) DDR5-5200 CL40

2024.04.30 18:49 ytTheLoLSoul Need Help!! PC Issue

Hello friends! This is my current build im working with
CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K 3.00 GHz
MOBO: MSI MPG Z690 Edge WiFi Gaming Motherboard (ATX, 12th Gen Intel Core, LGA 1700 Socket, DDR5, PCIe 5, 2.5G LAN, M.2 Slots, Wi-Fi 6E)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 (FE)
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s
SSD: SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4
The issue I have been running into and why I came here for some help potentially was certain games run just fine like Valorant, League Of Legends (I mean that game runs on potatoes, and Call of Duty (Warzone/MW3(new).) But for some reason games like Fortnite, CS2, or Rainbow Six Siege will either crash on start or let me play the game for a bit then just crash or bsod my pc? I feel like for this level/price of my build this shouldnt be happening any ideas on what I could/should do.
The steps ive tried already were to run a memory test with mem32 & windows memory test, I updated my bios to the newest version from manafacutre, and always update my graphics drivers when their is a new update from Geforce Experince.

2024.04.30 18:31 Necreigniem Passive Tree Feedback/Design Suggestions for All Characters

Tl;dr Long post with suggestions on how to improve passive trees, with a focus on final/ultimate passives. Tries to work solely with current game mechanics/assets (no brand-new skills such as Warchief). If you want to jump to the character you love most, search for “Name:” (for instance, ctrl+f “Merris:” without the quotation marks.
First, a huge thank you to the Realm Archive team for such a great game. I have played non-stop since the patch, recommended it to anyone I can, and loved every moment of it.
The intent of this post is to help improve the game. I realize fully that it may not have any impact, and that’s ok. I enjoyed writing it; I hope you enjoy reading it.
~Design Philosophy:~
~Skadi:~ Skadi is currently lackluster performance-wise. However, her character identity and design space are very fleshed out, allowing for an easy jumping-off point for design.
Tree passives: Hero’s Journey Current: You deal more damage to Skeletons. Damage: +100% Suggestion: Add “Elites and Bosses have a chance to drop an additional item.” Chance: 10% Reasoning: Currently this is more of a meme point. Giving it chance to find items make is a good early-game option for players looking to build up a collection.
Highlander Current: You have increased Life Regeneration. Life Regen: +5% Suggestion: Make this apply to Life Regeneration and Healing. Reasoning: More options and makes Skadi one of the premier self-healing characters available.
Thrill of the Fight Current: Your attack hits have a chance to lifesteal. Chance: 1-4% Lifesteal on Hit: 7 Suggestion: Increase Lifesteal on hit to 12. Reasoning: Four points here would be approximately half as effective as Mort’s Vampirism, with the addition that it scales with luck. Solidifies Skadi as a self-healing character option.
Ultimate passives: Wanderer Current: A Random skill you have gains +1 level on every 3 levels you gain Suggestion: Change to “A Random skill you have gains +1 level on every 2 levels you gain.” Reasoning: With the addition of many extra god Blessing choices, this ability was already being diluted. Taking it back to the previous value is a good start.
Mythology Current: Enemies take more damage for each status they have applied to them. Damage: +15% Suggestion: Add “If you would apply a status to an enemy that already has that status, it has a chance to be applied to a nearby enemy.” Chance: 20% Range: 160 Reasoning: This passive is already strong for single-target. Giving it some area scaling makes it more viable and delivers the “Oh wow!” moment we are looking for. Think of it as Mort’s Malady but for enemies that are alive. If needed (for instance, if this just freezes the entire screen permanently) the chance or range can be decreased.
Song of the North (upgrade to Ultimate passive) Current: While at full life, you deal more damage. Damage: +40% Suggestion: Change to “Your attack hits have a chance to trigger an additional attack.” Chance: 30%. Reasoning: The current passive is too restrictive, and people loved the old Witchsword (the nerf was likely necessary but still hurt). Giving Wind Fervor back with full luck scaling is a good compromise.
Heroic Training Current: Your Adept Blessings deal more damage. Damage: +222% Suggestion: Add “Legend Offers can spawn on Adept Offers. -10% More Legend Offers.” Reasoning: “Blue Skadi” is a cool idea and easily accessible to new players. Allowing players to be able to fully spec out of Expert and Master Offer Chance while still getting Legend Offers makes this less of a tradeoff.
*Note: This node is currently also increasing the value of some non-damage offers, notably Summer’s Fury passive. Fixing this OR making it an intended interaction (such as reading “…and adept passives are more effective”) may require more buffs/nerfs accordingly.
Torr, Selki, and wolves in general: Suggestion: Redesign this whole series of passives. Reasoning: Community response has been that a summon wolf build is very on-theme and desired for Skadi, but is currently very under tuned. The below suggestion focuses on making the wolves feel mechanically unique and tied to Skadi rather than being generically good summons.
Selki and Torr: New Tree passive, Replaces Selki Strike. Your Attack hits have a chance to summon a Wolf to fight alongside you for a duration. It uses your Movement Speed at 130% and deals 20% your Attack Damage. Chance: 15% Wolf Attack Time: 0.54 Wolf Duration: 20 Sec. Strike Damage, Stike Critical Chance, and Attack Speed Value: 30% Wolves: 2 Reasoning: Allowing Skadi’s wolves to scale off her Strike stats make them mechanically unique and support her “one of the pack” flavor. It also makes them able to scale off both her Strike stats and Summon stats, allowing for some potentially very strong wolves in addition to other summons if you choose that playstyle. The summoning being tied to a strike is mostly for this interraction and allows for a higher upper limit to the redesigned Ultimate ability:
Call the Pack: New Ultimate passive You can summon additional Wolves. Wolves: +12 Reasoning: The additional wolf count is somewhat arbitrary, but should be enough to deliver both the power and “Oh wow!” response desired.
Overview: Skadi has a ton of space to grow thanks to the great design by the developers. The above suggestions allow Skadi to go a number of mechanically unique directions (wolves or statuses) as well as some strong generic options (additional Blessing levels, Luck/Strike, Adept Blessings).
~Avoron:~ Avoron is currently propped up by the Equilibrium + Waste + Inner Peace combo, but otherwise lacks a strong compelling build. Fortunately there are a lot of thematic and mechanical elements put in place by the developers already that help inform changes. Importantly, Avoron is the first character new players have access to which will help shape the design changes.

Exalted rework Current: You gain +100% Attack Damage Suggestion: Change to “You gain +70% Damage.” And add “You gain +20% Area.” Reasoning: Exalted is mechanically unique and looks great (check it out if you haven’t). Changing it to be all damage not only provides a substantial buff but helps solidify Avoron as a great all-rounder. As an additional bonus, it will help new players experiment with different Blessings, notably Power Blessings since they are also supported on Avoron’s tree. The added area is primarily to give even more visual feedback to this very cool ability.

Tree passives: Cleansing Aura Current: Reduces the duration of all negative effects on you. Duration: 20-60% Suggestion: Add “+0.20-0.60 Life Regeneration.” Reasoning: Currently there are very few things in the game that reliably apply negative effects to players. Allowing for some strong self-healing early on the tree will help newer players get a build going and plays in thematically to a tanky character.
Tectonic Plating and Aegis Suggestion: Swap the position of Aegis and Tectonic Plating. Change Aegis to +1 Revivals. Reasoning: Chaining revivals is a cool idea, but an ultimate that can fail to proc (or not be needed) during an entire run sets up many “feels bad” moments. An additional revival being available to any Avoron build will help smooth out the gameplay. It also frees up more design space for Ultimate passives, as currently Aegis and Guardian Angel are trying to do something very similar.
Ultimate passives: Tectonic Plating Current: Your damage is increased for every 100 Armor points you have. Damage: +4%-12% Suggestion: Change to “Your Attack Damage is increased for every Armor point you have. Damage +0.2%” and “Whenever you block, there is a chance trigger an additional attack. Chance: 25%” [Requires Outflank]. Reasoning: An Ultimate passive for the block portion of the tree. The damage scaling number is informed by Kront’s Overpower passive (Kront’s double-dips for Attack and Power Damage and scales off Life but requires 3 points to reach 0.15% and isn’t an ultimate). The counterattack is thematic for a “Walking Fortress” character identity (a suggestion for changing the name of the passive). Keep in mind that Block from the Vanguard passive has a 50% chance with 5 points invested, so luck scaling is encouraged here.
Guardian Angel Current: Power. When you take damage, prevent all damage for a limited duration. Duration: 2 sec. Cooldown: 10 sec. Suggestion: Change to “When you take damage, prevent all damage for a limited duration and apply Smited to all enemies.” Duration: 2 Sec. Cooldown: 10 sec. Reasoning: This ultimate already encourages an “unkillable” build (similar to the current Aegis) but only shines with enough duration and cooldown reduction, making it very “all or nothing” to be effective. Applying Smited (which has its own internal cooldown of 4 seconds) screen-wide should help pad out the survivability before you become nigh-unkillable and look/sound cool (though it may also get annoying over a long run).
Grand Archon of Aulum Current: All Blessings offered are Adept. Your Adept offer bonuses convert to Expert at a diminished rate. Adept to Expert Rate: 60%. Suggestion: Change to “All Blessings offered are Adept. Your Adept offer bonuses convert to Expert.” Adept to Expert Rate: 100%. Reasoning: It is currently exceedingly easy to get master (and legendary) offers through itemization, making this ultimate mostly uninteresting (even in conjunction with Devotion). However for newer players, an all Expert run is a high worth chasing, and this will likely be the go-to ultimate until they develop an item collection.
Champion Current: Your Attack Damage is increased. Attack Damage: +108% Suggestion: Change to “Your Attack Damage, Attack Speed, Attack Area, Life, Armor, and Movement Speed are increased.” Attack Damage: +108%. Attack Speed: +9%. Attack Area: +18%. Life: +18%. Armor: +18%. Movement Speed: +9%. Reasoning: This is a good generic ultimate but 108% Attack Damage doesn’t amount to much comparatively. Making this the mother of all generic Ultimate passives should at least make it a viable option.
*Note: I do not know the reasoning behind the 108 number, but I assume it’s related to Avoron having a connection to the number nine, which is why I kept the other values similar. If desired, you could also incorporate Duration, Luck, and Increased Experience to make it nine stats all getting multiple of nine as a bonus.
The Crusade: New Ultimate passive You are Exalted. Whenever a Power triggers, there is a chance it triggers an additional time. Chance: 50% Reasoning: Currently there are 3 ways to become Exalted in the game: Avenger (chance on block), Inspired Research (when you gain a level), and the Unique Mythic Weapon Crusader (chance on hit). This ultimate allows for players who really enjoy the holy warrior theme to have unlimited access to it. We also take Kront’s Ancestral Knowledge passive, allowing Avoron to become a premier Power Blessing character (don’t worry, Kront is still keeping his mechanically unique Powers, but they couldn’t double-trigger anyway).
Overview: Avoron is the first character new players are introduced to and is the tried-and-true fantasy knight. The mechanically unique builds allow him to become an advancing fortress of steel or a radiant crusader, while his generic options are strong for new players or those with access to game-changing uniques.
~Kront:~ Kront is one of the strongest characters currently thanks to his Warchief build. Using that build as a benchmark for design the goal is more build options which don’t dilute his strong class features, namely the mechanically-and-visually-unique Enrage Power and his very cool (and unused with Warchief) attack animation.
Tree Passives: Barbarian’s Wisdom Current: You have more Power slots. Power Slots: +1-2 Suggestion: Add “Whenever you interact with a location, heal some life.” Heal: 1-2. Reasoning: Giving Kront access to healing on his tree will help pad out his early progression runs.
Ultimate passives: Rampage Current: While Enraged, you have increased Attack Damage and Attack Area. Attack Damage: +100% Attack Area: +100% Suggestion: Change to “Enrage triggers on cooldown. When an enemy hits you, reduce the cooldown of Enrage. While Enraged, you have increased Attack Damage and your attacks have a chance to Stun enemies. Attack Damage: +100% Chance: 5% Cooldown Reduction when hit: 4 sec. Reasoning: Enrage is mechanically-and-visually-unique (try it out if you haven’t, Kront never looked so good), but currently suffers because it requires taking a hit and even then it isn’t always available. By making it trigger on cooldown, players can choose to invest enough in Cooldown Reduction or Duration to achieve permanent uptime. Alternatively, Cooldown Reduction when hit can achieve the same goal of permanent uptime by taking more hits. Chance to Stun is substituted for Attack Area. This focuses the Enrage/Rampage build as the less area/more single target build, and keeps the stunlock dream alive.
Devastate Current: Your attacks have a chance to stun enemies. Chance: 16% Suggestion: Replace this passive. Reasoning: The stunlock build is a cool idea but needed much more to compete with strong builds. For comparison, Skadi can freeze-lock bosses without an ultimate. Putting stun on Rampage helps focus that ability while freeing up design space for a fan-favorite.
Whirlwind: New Ultimate ability Your Attacks only use the third Attack animation. You attack and move faster. You lose attack damage. You lose dash charges. The effect of Knock Back is reversed and your Attacks knock back enemies. Attack Speed: +60% Attack damage: -50% Movement Speed: +40% Knock Back: 3 -2 Dash Charges. You don’t have Dash slots. Reasoning: Prior to the Act II Patch, Kront’s only attack animation is what is now his third attack animation. This passive restores that functionality, gives some huge attack speed and movement speed, and changes how you play the game by removing dashes altogether except in rare cases. The damage loss is negligible considering how much Attack Damage you can get elsewhere, while also encouraging more investment in Strike Blessings. For many players, the “whirlwind” playstyle is king regardless if it’s the “best” build. Hopefully this helps scratch that itch.
Warchief Suggestion: No changes. It’s strong and mechanically unique. If it needs a nerf, it will get one (along with everything else we are trying to raise to a similar power level.
Ancestral Knowledge Current: Whenever a Power Triggers, there is a chance it triggers an additional time. Chance: 77% Suggestion: Redesign this passive. Reasoning: I suggest above that this passive (with slightly reduced stats) be moved to Avoron. Where Avoron’s tree gets Power Damage and Area (especially with the Exalted rework), Kront’s leans towards utility with damage scaling off life and chance to stun for Powers.
Ancestral Knowledge: New Ultimate Passive Damage dealt by Powers has a chance to lifesteal. Your Power Damage and Luck is increased for each filled Power slot you have. Chance: 4% Lifesteal: 1 Power Damage: +20% Luck: +8% Reasoning: Currently only attack hits can lifesteal, and for good reason. Many Blessing abilities simply hit too many enemies too quickly. The idea here is to make a Power Kront that can be tanky as well thanks to a high amount of lifesteal, without making him immediately immortal. Numbers may be need to be adjusted down. The lifesteal numbers are informed by Skadi’s Thrill of the Fight passive. The Power Damage and Luck scaling effect is informed by Nixi’s Rogue’s Legacy passive in reverse. Most Power Blessings grant some form of utility, so having access to many (Kront’s base plus tree allow for five) allows for some decent damage on top. The substantial amount of Luck not only helps the lifesteal, but also chance for Powers to stun from Kront’s Aftershock (if taken) and the many chance-based powers. Flare enjoyers rejoice.
Overview: Kront Warchief is already one of the strongest builds. Expanding on his existing mechanics allows for other Ultimate passives that allow his other facets to truly shine. Build around the Enrage mechanic, become a walking explosion with Ancestal Fortitude, or turn off your dash button and let Whirlwind take the wheel.
~Merris:~ Merris is another strong character when considering her Cast build(s). Those builds typically make use of Surge, Aspect of the Hydra, or Telekinesis in conjunction with Esoteric Flow to get a lot of casts and make them more impactful. The challenge here is filling out the rest of Merri’s character identity with only two Ultimate passive slots to work with. For the sake of clarity, I’ll address summons in full first, then move on to a more generic Ultimate passive option for Merris.
Summons: A substantial buff is needed for the Summon side of the tree. The recent stat fix helps, but the playstyle still lags behind. The focus will therefore be on more mechanical issues than raw strength.
Tree Passives (summon): Fellowship Current: Your Summon Damage is increased. Summon Damage: +3-15% Suggestion: Change to “Your Summon Attack Speed is increased.” Summon Attack Speed: +3-15 Reasoning: Summon Attack Speed is a more in-demand stat and Summon Attack Damage is available elsewhere on the tree (such as through the Channel passive).
Fire Pals Current: Fire Elementals fight alongside you, Burning enemies they hit. Elementals: 3 Elemental Damage: 130-190 Elemental Attack Time: 0.42 Elemental Movement Speed: 320 Suggestion: Change to “Fire Hounds fight alongside you, Burning enemies they hit and applying Marked.” Elementals: 3 Elemental Damage: 130-190 Elemental Attack Time: 0.42 Elemental Movement Speed: 420 Reasoning: The change of the name to “Fire Hounds” is for an updated Ultimate passive below. Increasing the movement speed to a blazing 420 and applying marked gives these Summons a more unique identity and increases the single-target damage of a Summon build. Because it requires a minimum of 4 points allocated, it’s less likely that other Merris builds (such as Casts) will take this for a source of Marked, but it is an option.
Ultimate passives: Pet Dragon Current: Summon. A Red Dragon fights alongside you, Burning enemies with its breath. Dragon Breath Damage: 266-366 Dragon Attack Time: 1.04 Dragon Breath Area: 600sq Dragon Movement Speed: 400 Suggestion: Change to “Summon. You and your Summons deal more damage for each uniquely named Summon you have. Additionally, A Crimson Dragon fights alongside you, Burning enemies with its breath.” Summon Damage: +30% Summon Dragon Breath Damage: 266-366 Dragon Attack Time: 1.04 Dragon Breath Area: 600sq Dragon Movement Speed: 420 Reasoning: Pet Dragon is very cool and attractive thematically, but doesn’t deliver much output comparatively. The addition of Summon damage per uniquely-named summon greatly rewards the “Zoo Summoner” build that many players gravitate towards. This not only rewards players making use of the Affection passive to pick up more Summon Blessings, but also itemization with multiple parrots, dragons, skeletons and genie from items.
Generic option: With the release of Lorien, Merris is simply outclassed as a generic ranged attacker. This Ultimate passive Blaze only scaling attack damage (albeit in a mechanically interesting way) does not close the gap. That said, Merris does have a lot of fun and interesting Attack tools in her tree such as Fiery Fingertips, Arcane Attraction, Magic Missiles, and Fireball. Unfortunately, Magic Missiles and Fireball do not combo well, so I’m suggesting a redesign to Magic Missiles and making a new Ultimate passive version of Fireball.
Tree passives (generic option): Fireball and Blaze Make Fireball into an Ultimate passive and move Blaze significantly up the tree.
Blaze Current: For every level spent in Attack blessings, your Attack damage is increased. Damage per attack level: +12% Suggestion: Change to “Damage per attack level: +3-9%” Three-point passive. Reasoning: Blaze is interesting mechanically and there’s no reason to lose it completely. Moving it significantly earlier in the tree’s progression also means it doesn’t compete with other generic attack passives such as Firesoul in the penultimate tier.
Magic Missiles Current: Cast. Your attacks have a chance to shoot out aiming missiles. Chance: 20%-100% Magic Missiles: 3 Damage: 90-90 Area: 6sq Range: 800 Velocity: 900 Aim Rate: 360 Cooldown: 0.33 sec Suggestion: Change to “Cast. Your attack hits have a chance to shoot out aiming missiles that deal a proportion of your attack damage.” Chance: 20-100% Magic Missiles: 3 Percentage: +4-20% Range: 400 Velocity: 900 Aim Rate: 360 Reasoning: The main change here is to the behavior: the new Magic Missiles should fire from where the attack hits rather than from Merris, similar to how Krom’s Shurikens and Time’s Warped Attack shards function. This allows for more focused damage and for the Magic Missiles to hit targets beyond Merris’ normal attack range. That this scales from attack damage rather than a base damage is important to its functionality with the updated Fireball below.
*Note: From a purely design perspective, this should really be a Strike (something with a chance to trigger from your attacks). The fact that it currently isn’t suggests that the developers are willing to sacrifice some rigidity for the sake of build cohesion, namely Merris more naturally caring about Casts than Strikes. With that in mind, I’m suggesting that Fireball also be made a cast (currently a Power, oddly enough). And while it doesn’t have any bearing on the suggestions for this build, perhaps Discharge (currently a Power) could be a cast too, though that one may require some rebalancing if it is done since it could then interact with Merris’ other Ultimate passives.
Fireball Current: Power. If you do not attack for a given time, your next attack becomes a Fireball that has only one Projectile with infinite Pierce. This projectile has increased Damage and Area. Three-point passive. Attack Damage: +220-660% Area: +120-360% Velocity: +20-60% Fireball Channel Time: 1.8 sec. Suggestion: Change to “Cast. Your Attack Speed is reduced. Your attack becomes a Fireball that has only one Projectile with infinite Pierce. This projectile has increased Damage and Area.” One-point passive. Attack Speed: -200% Attack Damage: +660% Area: +360% Velocity: +60% Reasoning: First, changing this to a Cast allows it to scale with both Attack and Cast modifiers, similar to Kront’s Warchief passive or Merris’ own Magic Missiles. Since Merris has much more Cast support on her tree than Power support, this alone is a significant buff. Coincidentally it also allows Fireball to trigger from Esoteric Flow (Magic Missiles can as well). While this was not an aim, it could potentially be useful. Second, changing this from a Channel Time to an Attack Speed modifier allows it to function at full damage with Magic Missiles. The result should be a Merris that fires large, high-damage projectiles that then explode into Magic Missiles, like a cluster-bomb style attack. This will hopefully satisfy players who don’t want to play Summon/Cast but also want something different than the more generic ranged attacks of Lorien.
Surge, Aspect of the Hydra, Telekinesis Suggestion: No changes. These Ultimate passives are already strong and compelling, each in their own way. If they need nerfs, that’s fine.
Overview: Merris already has a strong Cast build with some good Ultimate passive options. By encouraging what players are already trying to do, a “Zoo Summoner” playstyle can be made viable. If players want a more generic build, Fireball is a ranged attack build with different strengths and mechanics than Lorien’s playstyle.
~Nixi and Lorien:~ I am suggesting major changes to these character trees that need to be addressed before getting in to the specifics of Nixi and Lorien. Namely a swap between Lorien’s Bask in Greatness, Marked, and various Strike passives for Nixi’s Mind Reaper, Envenomed, and Open Wounds passives.
Reasoning:
*Note that a rename for many of the swapped abilities would be in order, but for clarity I am keeping them the same in this post.
~Nixi:~ Nixi has some of the most mechanically unique design space owing to her Shadowshift passive, Poisoned series of passives (including Poison Darts), and the Greed is Good passive. However, even with these tools she struggles to compete with other strong builds. The changes suggested attempt to increase her strengths and identity.
Tree passives: Assassination Current: You deal more damage to bosses. Damage: +5-25% Suggestion: Change to “You deal more damage to bosses. Whenever you kill a boss, heal some life. Damage: +5-25% Heal: 20-100 Reasoning: Giving Nixi some healing on her tree completes a cycle of giving every melee character access to a different source of healing on the tree: Skadi via lifesteal, Avoron via regeneration, Kront via interacting with locations, and Nixi via killing bosses. Note that with the addition of the 30% Max Life heals dropped via bosses, this healing passive is somewhat less useful than the others.
Finesse: Downgrade to Tree passive Current: You gain more dash charges. Dash Charges: +1 Suggestion: Make this a non-Ultimate passive. Reasoning: Moving this to the Tree and allowing it on all Nixi builds solidifies her as the most mobile character. While an extra Dash Charge is very strong, it is not exciting as an Ultimate passive.
Ultimate passives: Endless Night Current: When you leave Shadowshift, there is a chance you enter it again. Chance: 66% Suggestion: Change to “When you leave Shadowshift, there is a chance you enter it again. Shadowshift has no cooldown.” Reasoning: Currently, Shadowshift feels clunky if attacking since you still occasionally drop out and have to wait multiple seconds before it is available again. If you instead choose to not attack and focus on Dance of Shadows, you are still occasionally locked out unless you stack Duration. This change should allow this to become a more consistent and fun build.
Vendetta Current: Your Critical hits deal extra damage. Critical Damage: +300% Suggestion: “Your critical hits deal extra damage. When you Attack, trigger an Attack in the opposite direction as well.” Critical Damage: +400% Reasoning: More critical damage is cool, but making it fully double (Critical Damage is 400% baseline) is more thematic. The addition of attacking in the opposite direction should help add an “Oh Wow!” moment to this Ultimate passive and is fitting with Nixi being a dual-wielding character. Note that in many scenarios the extra attack will hit nothing, so this isn’t as powerful as it may seem.
Bask in Greatness: Currently a Lorien Ultimate passive Current: “Your attack critical hits trigger a random Strike you have 3 times. The chance for more powerful skills is diminished.” Suggestion: “Your attacks have a chance to trigger a random Strike you have. The chance for more powerful skills is diminished.” Chance: 100%. Reasoning: Returning a Chance functionality here rewards Nixi players for stacking Luck, which is one of the defining stats of Strike blessings already. The floor here may be slightly lower, but the ceiling is higher for players who invest heavily in Luck. Having it trigger on attack instead of crit is to compensate for Nixi being melee as opposed to range, but may be an overcorrection.
Overview: Nixi is a highly stylized and highly mobile melee attacker. These changes serve to strengthen that identity as well as giving her more options for strong builds: Endless Night for Dash builds, Vendetta as a more generic but still unique attack build, and Bask in Greatness as a dedicated Strike build.
~Lorien:~ Lorien is very strong currently, in large part thanks to his Bask in Greatness build and his strength as a ranged attacker. As detailed above in the “Nixi and Lorien” Section, I am suggesting significant changes to his tree and Ultimate passives. The goal here is to find a strong, flavorful replacement for Bask in Greatness by upgrading Flash of Inspiration to an Ultimate passive and to address any unintended consequences of taking Nixi’s Rupture/Poisoned/Mind Reaper options.
Tree passives: Poison Darts (swapped over from Nixi’s tree) Current: Strike. Your Attack Critical Hits shoot out darts that apply Poisoned and deal a percentage of your Attack damage. Attack Damage: 40-120% Darts: 4 Suggestion: Increase the range. Reasoning: Making sure swapping this from the melee Nixi doesn’t have the unintended consequence of Poison Darts never hitting distant enemies. Perhaps a rename to “Flechettes” for flavor purposes.
Ultimate passives: Rain of Arrows Current: You attack faster. Attack Speed: +40% Suggestion: Change to “You attack faster and fire more Attack projectiles.” Attack Speed: +40%. +2 Attack Projectiles Count. Reasoning: This is already a strong generic Ultimate passive. The addition of extra projectiles should make it much more compelling for newer players while having a lesser impact on experienced players who have more access to extra projectiles through increased item and blessing choices.
Mind Reaper: Currently a Nixi Ultimate passive) Current: Your Poisoned stacks are increased and Poisoned lasts infinitely. Poison Stacks: +2 Suggestion: Change to “Poison Stacks: +3” Reasoning: Doubling the available poison stacks (one base, plus two from Deep Poison) seems warranted. Lorien being able to apply these stacks at greater range and to many more enemies should make this a strong damage-over-time-style build.
Flash of Inspiration: Upgrade to Ultimate passive) Current: Your attack hits have a chance to trigger a random Cast you have. The chance for high-cooldown skills is diminished. Chance: 3-12%. Four-point passive. Suggestion: Your attack critical hits trigger a random Cast you have 3 times. The chance for more powerful skills is diminished. Reasoning: Chance and Luck have more connection to Strike blessings, as discussed previously with Nixi. Triggering on critical strikes restores some of the functionality lost in the Lorien version of Bask in Greatness. The change from Strikes to Casts (in comparison to the current Bask in Greatness) should be a net damage increase simply due to the fact that casts will hit Lorien’s ranged targets more often compared to most strikes. Conversely, the loss of the Marked crit passives from Lorien’s tree (namely Hunter) should lower the trigger rate somewhat to balance this out.
*Note: One worry is that allowing Lorien to consistently trigger Casts will decrease Merris’ Cast identity. The hope is that Merris having access to Surge, Aspect of the Hydra, and Telekinesis in addition to a more focused Cast tree will make these characters still feel unique. The characters being siblings adds a bit of flavor to them both caring about Casts.
Whistling Arrow Current: You guide The Whistling Arrow. It uses your Movement Speed at 360% and deals 100% your Attack Damage. It applies all Attack modifiers you have. Suggestion: Change to “You guide the Whistling Arrow. It uses your Movement Speed at 180% and deals 50% your Attack Damage. It gains 8 times value from stat boosts.” Reasoning: This Ultimate passive is already thematically cool, all it needs is a buff. Long-time Skadi players will recognize where the suggested boost comes from. The return of the birb.
Overview: Lorien’s addition to the game introduced a very strong ranged character with an explosive playstyle. Improving his areas of focus with these suggestions help redefine his build options without decreasing his power. Multiple unique builds allow for Rupture/Poison damage-over-time, Cast trigger, or Summon-focused playstyles while leaving a generic option opened for players who just want to shoot things.
Closing Thoughts: Opening up a wide range of new options for builds without asking for too many new design/development resources was the goal of these changes. All of them are intended buffs that seek to bring more builds up to the levels of what is currently strong. That way, if/when nerfs are implemented, it can be less about handicapping specific builds and more about lowering the overall ceiling for character power.
An additional goal was to more clearly focus character identities and options. Giving each melee character access to some form of life recouperation should help players (and newer players especially) feel they are able to push early runs more reliably. There was also an attempt to even out the distribution of what blessings characters care about: Avoron and Kront for Powers, Merris and Skadi for Summons, Lorien and Merris for Casts, and Nixi and Skadi for Strikes. The three characters without a dual-focus (Nixi, Avoron, and Kront) all have mechanically unique Powers (Shadowshift, Exalted, and Rampage/Warchief respectively) in an attempt to compensate.
I realize that this is a lot to ask of the developers, especially in that I broke my own rule for no new mechanics by requesting one for Merris in her Summoner Ultimate passive. I do not expect any of these changes to make it into the game, but hopefully you’ve enjoyed the theory-crafting as much as I have.
Hats off to the developers and the Realm Archive team for such a great game that has clearly captured my (and many player’s) imaginations. Very excited to see where it goes in the future!

Chipset Drivers: AMD B350M CHIPSET DRIVERS VERSION 5.01.29.2026
Background Applications: DISCORD, Brave, SonarGG, Notion, MSI Afterburner, Adrenalin, Hwinfo64, Defender, etc.
Description of Original Problem: Hello everyone, I'll try to make this brief. (read until the end before responding as I will make some clarifications).
I bought and just got a brand new XFX 7600 GPU. I had an RX 580 from Phantom Gaming. I thought I'd just plug it in (after reinstalling AMD drivers, using DDU) and would get "double the frames" considering the rest was the same system. Or perhaps not exactly double, but noticeable improvements.
However, Ready or Not is all over the place with microstutters anytime I move around (usage of the card was between 40% and 70% and clocks were between 1310 and 1400mhz - the same as the RX580!), and CS2 (counter strike not cities skylines) feels the same as before with the other card which is not something I understand. My gf just bought and built a new PC and with the budget she gave us the best we could do was i3 12100F and also an Rx580. According to her brother when testing they were getting between 200 and 400 frames in it. Mind you I was playing on basically almost all low settings, with textures and global shadow on medium and the "quality" FSR preset @ 1080p. I had capped the frames to 70 or so with FRTC because as you may know, frametimes in CS2 are (or were) kinda wonky, so at higher frames or uncapped frames + anti lag even if I got 100+ fps it was all stuttery. This same thing happened with this new card, and even if I capped it at say 95, which I'd think this card vs the old one should be more than capable of doing, the "feeling" of it not being smooth was still there.
Temps are fine, it's the VRAM that is a bit higher than the GPU core, but that didn't reach more than 70°C.
My internet is very slow so I'm downloading now other things to try it out and see if the usage of the card is still the same or works as intended (downloading Kindgom come now) but in the meantime I'd thought I'd ask for some knowledgeable responses. I did read RoN is a bit crazy on that front, so I thought maybe it's the game but then CS2 also didn't improve. Am I really THAT bottlenecked with my processor? I'd think with the new GPU I'd get at least some improvement, considering cs2 unlike GO isn't cpu bound?
Troubleshooting: I didn't do much "troubleshooting" as I don't really know what to do regarding this, but there are a couple of things to note:
1) the GPU came with a vBIOS switch, but nowhere from XFX explain what each is. I tested myself with what I could. I discarded cinebench because it wasn't pushing/using the card that much.
First run with the card "OOBE" on "Stress Test" from Adrenalin crashed the application. After I flipped the switch (turning off the PC, cutting of power and all to make sure) that stress test was fine on both "Bios" of the card.
Then I tried both Fire Strike for DX11 and Night Raid for DX12. 1 of the bios gave me between 100-400 points more on both tests compared to the other, but nothing really noticeable (I had read that 1 of the bios could be for mining and restricted to 75W and such, so I was trying to look for that clear evidence). Both tests were "Excellent" or "Legendary" score and there was no real stutter or under 60fps on any of the tests (graphical ones). The DX12 however had many more frames but also the clocks were up and down like crazy, while the DX11 one had the GPU clocks much more stable. Idk if this is the test itself (I don't have much knowledge on it) or something happened to me.
On all of the testing the GPU maintained temps and could go to 150-175W of usage as well as having its clocks up to 2910 or something. However, it's important to note that there was an insane coil whine. I'm not sure (will have to verify) if it's the PSU or the GPU itself.
I almost forgot to mention, I tried both with and without SAM turned on (Re-BAR on the BIOS) as well as PBO On and Off for the processor.
Looking for the chipset version for this post I realize there's a much newer one for this MoBo, but I wouldn't think that is the case?
--------------------------------------------------------
Side notes: Yes, I'm aware my PSU is fire hazard and also I do have the games on an HDD, however I used to have both on the SSD and there was not much difference in FPS only in loading times (which with this GPU already loaded much faster).
I ran out of money and have other expenditures now, but perhaps in August/September unless something crazy happens, I will try to be buying a 1TB SATA SSD (my motherboard doesn't have M.2 slot) as well as an R5 5600 and a new much better 650W PSU (such as the P650B or the CV650).
My questions are: Is this normal for this card, is there something else happening? (reinstalling windows and all, if necessary, would also be somewhat of a PITA because I need my PC for work all week). Is my processor really THAT limiting? - regardless of which, I ask: Is coil whine bad or just annoying? Should I worry? If it's the card and is not bad but annoying, I'll stick with it because returning it for us is a true PITA as well.
Do you have a similar system? Perhaps with a 6600XT or something similar and what are the frames that you are getting? I will be trying to test with other games, see how that goes but so far I'd have to say that as bad as it may have been, I had a more consistent experience with the 580 or at least I understood where, why and when the limitations were.
Thanks a lot for reading and helping me out! If anything is missing feel free to ask, I'm on my lunch break and so I made this as detailed as possible but pretty quick.

2024.04.30 16:48 Roundi4000 Help with SSD upgrade

Hey all, I purchased a PC a few years ago with the following specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - 6-Core 3.60GHz, 4.2GHz Turbo - 32MB L3 Cache Processor, Pro OC Compatible
MEMORY: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4/3200mhz Dual Channel Memory (HyperX Fury w/Heat Spreader)
MOTHERBOARD: MSI A320M-A PRO: M-ATX w/ 2 RAM Slots, USB 3.2, SATA3
SSD: 1TB WD Green 2.5" SSD - 545MB/s Read (1 Drive)
VIDEO: MSI GeForce® GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB - DX12®, VR Ready, HDMI, DP - 3 Monitor Support (Single Card)
But it's been running a bit slow and I think it's the SSD. after some basic research I thought I could switch out or add a new SSD so I bought a Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD, but opening up to install I can't find the m.2 port, and I think I might not be able to install it. Silly me.
I was hoping if someone could answer if I can add ot swap the 2 SSDs around with my current setup? And if not what's the best path forward in your opinion? Should I try and swap out my motherboard? Any tips would be really appreciated.

2024.04.30 14:49 The_Incredible-DrL Should i go 4060ti 16gb (i7-12700k) or an 6750xt 12gb (i7-13700k) for video editing/gaming?

I'm building a 1440p PC Build for the aim of Gaming/Video editing (profeesionnal)/Streaming/Photshop/Work. My budget is just 1300euros.
I was going to go the build i originally made with I7-13700K and RX 6750xt because AMD have better performance and great reputation. But after some research, AMD drivers are considered not the best when it comes to video editing/photoshop. So Nvidia was the way to go i saw. But personnally, i don't really feel to safe with them. For the price of their Best GPUs, most high-end 30 series only have 8gb V-RAM, with the only exception being the known to be underpowered 3060 (which is the same price as a 6750xt 365euros in france) and the performance comparisons pale when it comes to cheaper and more profficient AMD drivers (RX6700xt:/6800/7700xt ect.), but they are considered the go-to for video-editing/photoshop/streaming. And found a 4060 16gb that fits in to my budget by downgrading to a 12700k, but this driver has a really bad reputation for price-performance ratio (when it's on par with the 6700xt from what i saw).

So do i dowgrade my CPU a bit to an 12700Kfor budget, or i5 13700K and go a little over budget if i want to go AMD? Or is the AMD option not that bad for editing and i should stick to it?
Thank you

2024.04.30 14:48 The_Incredible-DrL Should i go 4060ti 16gb (i7-12700k) or an 6750xt 12gb (i7-13700k) for video editing/gaming?

2024.04.30 14:41 FelipeCNN2002 Intel x540-t2 prevents the motherboard from turning on.

Intel x540-t2 prevents the motherboard from turning on.
Server specs:
  • Motherboard: ZSUS-X99 P4
  • Memory: 2x 16Gb ECC
  • CPU: Xeon E5-2620 V3
  • ETHERNET: ISPUR PCIE x4 Intel x540-t2 10Gb
I recently bought two Intel x540-t2 network cards to put in my server, strangely when PCI cards are connected to the motherboard and it shows short symptoms, it turns on for 1 second and then turns off, and sometimes it turns on, however, when starts to check the components and it turns off immediately, but if it is placed on another motherboard, in this case the one on my main computer, which is a GA-AB350-DS3H-V2 with a Ryzen 7 5700x, both ports network function correctly.
This network card has two jumpers to disable network ports. When at least one of the network ports is disabled, the server powers on normally.

The only warning it gives is that there is no GPU, as there is no way to install a video card, as this motherboard only has one 16x slot and one 1x slot and the network card is x4.
It could be a possible incompatibility or setting in the BIOS.
If anyone has any suggestions for a possible solution, could you help me.

CPU — upgrade later to 9800x3d and buy Phantom Spirit cooler
mobo — wanted smth cheaper but it's the cheapest I found that is full ATX, B650, has USB 3 gen 2 with type c for my fancy case and is not ASUS Prime (heard those are problematic)
Yes, I need 2 SSDs (I'll dual boot Linux & Windows). People call Samsung overpriced but it was actually the cheapest one with a dram cache
Mouse — could probably buy something nicer since I spend so much on a mat, rn I have some no-name mitsai for like €13 lol, but it's not that bad and I think has 1000hz. Talk about priorities.
Edit: I know case is a bit pricey and I could get some more important things instead, but I REALLY like the North case, I want it 100%, all other cases make me vomit

2024.04.30 12:24 Right_Purpose819 Warzone 1% lows with 5800x3d and 6800xt red devil

So ive been playing warzone for 4 years now and 2 years ago made my first pc with
and ofc at that time ive been playing the Caldera version and i used to get like maybe as far i remember 60/70 or maybe a bit more but not by much and on more dense parts of the map maybe around high 50 s?
Few months ago i finnaly did a refresh on my build with:
AND OH my it was hell of a change for me because then i got a 165hz monitor
but..
for some reason i get bad 1%lows ,on the big map its more noticible averging a 200 fps but low dips sometime to like 80/90 and then highs as 150/160,but since this is happening even with these 200 fps my game its not smooth(IT ONLY HAPPENS ON WARZONE) since drops every second to these low fps.
Ive set curve optimiser -30 for the 5800x3d
The ram its set to 3666 cl 16
My temps for the cpu on Cinebenh never go above 80º,so my cpu temps dont throttle and because the game dont use 100% of the CPU and just stays in the mid 50º and high 70º but rarely.
On the 6800xt red devil , nortmally on warzone,(or any other game) it never goes above 65º/70º degrees and 70º/80º Hostpot
Ive tried putting all stock but nothing works,,,, ive tried undervolting the 6800xt but still nothin
i also played a lot on the config file of the game to get better fps but mots off these Yt vids that show you how to improve Fps in game blablabla are just bullshit, these changes can get u a better avg fps maybe but for the 1% low.... well good luck.
ive played around the bios too but nothing seems to make the bad 1% disappear.

2024.04.30 10:55 benny240304 Upgrading my PC

So I’ve had my rig for a while (current specs at bottom of post), it’s all pretty outdated. I built it about 6 years ago and even then it was a bit outdated. I’ve been putting some money aside and found a really good deal, 4070 super for £639 so I went for it. Double checked compatibility first but I’m starting to worry that the CPU might have some issues keeping up or maybe bottlenecking. I got some more RAM too but that’s more something that I can upgrade for free incase the GPU doesn’t like living in my PC. I am open to buying a new CPU but I’d rather stick to something with an AM4 socket so that I don’t have to throw out my motherboard and rebuild the whole thing, and if I went for an AM5 board it’d probably have DDR5 slots so I’d have to get brand new RAM too and that’s all a bit too rich for my blood at the minute.
So I suppose it boils down to this: do I slap my new GPU in my aging rig and hope it works or should I keep it boxed and plan a whole new build? Any advice, wisdom or past experience would be appreciated. Thank you! :)
CPU- ryzen 5 3600x fan cooled RAM- 16GB GPU- nvidia GeForce gtx 1050 ti Motherboard- asus prime b450-plus Storage- m.2 ssd 256GB+1TB HDD Can’t remember what PSU I have in off the top of my head

2024.04.30 09:28 Mikk3834 Upgrading pc parts

Hi guys - I bought a PC back in 2020, and had someone build it for me.
Below is the components:
ARCTIC F12 PWM Rev.2 with cooler
ASUS PRIME H410M-E - motherboard - micro-ATX - LGA1200 sokkel - H410
ASUS PCE-AC51 - Network adapter AC750 PCI Express
Fourze T100 Silent ATX Kabinet
Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML120L RGB processors liquid cooling system
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 8G NVIDIA RTX2080SUPER 8GB GDDR6 - PCI Express 3.0 x16
Samsung 870 QVO MZ-77Q1T0BW 1TB - SATA 6 Gb/s
Team Group T-Force Vulcan Z 16GB DDR4 3200MHz DIMM 288-PIN - not-ECC - CL16 - Bulk
Fourze PS750 PSU 750W
Intel Core i7 10700KF (10. Gen) - 3.8 GHz Processor - 8 cores, 16 threads - 16 mb cache
My GPU seems to randomly speed up and than down for 2 seconds when it's "stressed" over and over.
I've applied new paste on it, which seemed to help for a bit, but it has come back.
My question is, with this current build, what would you upgrade to make it better? (run colder or run games on higher settings) I've read that getting a rtx 4070 I would need a new cpu, as it would bottleneck? Also I assume I would need more fans than the 1 I have, besides the liquid cooler.

2024.04.30 08:26 of_justin Asrock x370 Killer SLI/AC Troubleshoot

I got the motherboard for fairly cheap and decided to try it out. Tried a Ryzen 5 5500 with 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200Mhz and got it to flick in for a second before shitting off.
Did some research and figured maybe dude sold me a board he also couldn’t get to boot Sticker on the board says P2.50 so i figured that’s the BIOS version so I got a Ryzen 5 1600 to test as that’s compatible with the p2.50 version.
The motherboard powered after I switched CPUs but was stuck in a power loop. Tried 3 Different RAM kits and then 1 of each in each slot. Then I ordered a single 8GB stick that’s on the compatible memory list on Asrocks website. Tried in each slot. I get in a power loop on slot 1 and 3 but on slot 2 and 4 i get steady power but no diplay showing
I then tried:
2 different power supplies 2 different GPUs 3 different displays and every display cord variation imaginable
and yes…I’ve plugged them into the GPU not the motherboard. But I did try that just for shits and giggles to no avail.
Any ideas? thinking maybe dude updated his bios without doing more research and it’s stuck on a certain BIOS version that doesn’t display properly for the CPU it has in it.

2024.04.30 07:57 LowDay9646 Doing a few upgrades, how do these look?

Hello, over a few months I'll start upgrading my pc, currently this is how it is.
Here's what I'll change in order.
The only I'm planning to keep is the motherboard and the storage, I'm fine with one ssd and 2 mechanical drives, I don't really care for speeds. I do not wanna go used because in Greece I don't trust any dumbass with his perfect rtx 3080 for 300€ never opened, never used.
I've had lots of instabilities with the rx580 so that's going first. Rtx 4060 seems like a good deal at 290~300ish, and since I'm doing a white themed build, it also comes in white and power efficiency is insanely good. I don't really need more fps, just more stability. Frostbite hates radeon cards for some reason, 4060 should fix that. Anything near its level from amd is anywhere from 150 to 200 euros more expensive, and being more power hungry is also bad. So I'm found team green, the rest of the build though, I do want opinions on.
Like the ram. My board supports up to 3600 and I've found the Chinese 3600mhz one cheaper than the corsair of 3200. I think it's reasonable to go for it over slower memory, even if it's from a Chinese company over corsair because it shouldn't really matter, right? Also it's just for futureproofing, I don't really think it's gonna see another upgrade on this motherboard.
My budget is pretty limited and this is what I've able to come up with so far. Are these components of high quality and will they last? Would you recommend anything different to what I've put on here?

2024.04.30 07:53 11y12y13 Is this the ram or something else

Is this the ram or something else
I installed this new msi motherboard and I believe it's something to do with ram because the Dram light is on and i get no out put to my monitor but something that points me that it's no the ram is the my cpu gets really hot after it sitting on for a bit everything turns on but no display and I know my cpu cooler works because I took it straight from my other build which works well with it. This is a i7 6700k and a 1650, vengeance 3x8 gigs of ram and yes I removed every single ram and placed it in every slot for each one and still the same problem. And I did put the hdmi in on my motherboard with ingredient graphics and the gpu and still no display. could this be caused by just the ram?(the ram is used not new. but none of the cold pins are missing)

2024.04.30 06:46 GandoofThePurple UPDATE: Wizard player character wants to find spells, not unlock them.

Hey all, it's been around a month since I made my post about my player wanting to forgo spells from level ups in favor of purely experiential and organic spell discovery. Since then, we worked together in tandem with some of the suggestions from here to create a total overhaul of 5e Wizard. A bit crazy and most certainly silly, to be sure.
We both are super into it, but it's still being playtested of course. All of the values will certainly be altered and changed and updated as we play, but I believe it is in a good enough spot to share. To inspire and get people talking, at the very least.
Without further ado, I present:

Weave Research

Weave Research is an optional alternative to D&D 5e Wizard spell progression. Forgo the gain of 2x Spells per Wizard level to instead engage in Weave Research.

Weave Potential

To master the Eight Schools of Magic, a Wizard must gather Weave Potential, or simply 'Potential'. Potential is a form of magical point currency that is afforded through research.
To learn new spells, one must first gather enough of a given school's Potential. Each spell level has a unique Potential cost that must be met before it can be learned by a Wizard. For example, if a Wizard has 8 Potential in Evocation, they can learn a 1st level Evocation spell, but not a first level Abjuration spell. Spells can only learned during long rests.
Spell levels and their respective Potential costs can be found here:
LEVEL POTENTIAL COST
Cantrip 4
1 8
2 12
3 20
4 24
5 28
6 36
7 40
8 44
9 52
Potential can be gained through four methods, with each method rewarding a different amount. Some methods are dangerous but effective, while others are safer but less experiential. *The values of Potential Gain are subject to change. This is what I have currently.
METHOD POTENTIAL GAIN
Observation Watch the Weave at work: view spellcasting, environmental analysis 0 + Spell Level/Difficulty
Transcription Read texts on the Schools: translate, uncover 3 + Spell Level/Difficulty
Subjection Pure experience: take damage, suffer effects 4 + Spell Level/Difficulty
Experimentation Delve into the Weave: pick apart spells, probe, gamble 4 x Spell Level/Difficulty
Observation
The Potential gain from Observation is immediate, given that the Wizard has imediate line of sight with a magical source. If the Wizard is otherwise occupied, blinded, or incapacitated, they will miss the chance to observe this instance.
Transcription
Texts will often be written in the author's own script, in their own dialect or code, and likely in a different language entirely. This presents the unique challenge of decyphering both already difficult Arcane algebra through comprehension roadblocks.
Each text will have a Time Sink value--an approximate hourly length stated in the item description (i.e 24 hours, 48, hours, etc). The Time Sink value is often equal to
12 x the Spell Level.
A Wizard can Transcribe during downtime, and can choose how many hours they spend Transcribing. Upon completing a Transcription, the Wizard will be reward with Potential.
Subjection
Much like Observation, the Potential gain from Subjection is also immediate, given that the Wizard survives the Subjection. If the Wizard is reduced to 0 hp as a result of this Subjection, they do not gain Potential.
Experimentation
Experimentation is how the inner workings of spells are revealed; it is a crucial step in forming a deeper understanding of the Schools. A Wizard can Experiment during downtime, and can choose how many hours they spend Experimenting.
To begin an Experimentation session, the Wizard must first choose their Spell of Study. The Spell of Study must be a spell currently known and prepared. Much like with Transcription, a Spell of Study will have a Time Sink requirement that is equal to
24 x the Spell Level.
At the end of each Experimentation session, the Wizard must make an Arcana check to determine how successful they were in their studies. On a failure, they Miscast and lose progress for that session. Upon completing all Experimentation sessions, the Wizard will be awarded Potential in the same school as their Spell of Study.
Alternatively, a Wizard can choose at the beginning of Experimentation to forgo any Potential growth to instead begin the process of forging their own spell. Ideally, this sort of Experimentation requires access to a library or laboratory to be done. Assuming such access is available, this Experimentation requires an exponential Time Sink and gold cost.
SPELL LEVEL TIME SINK COST
1 24 - 1 Day 50 gp
2 72 - 3 Days 250 gp
3 168 - 1 Week 500 gp
4 336 - 2 Weeks 2,500 gp
5 672 - 4 Weeks 5,000 gp
6 1344 - 8 Weeks 15,000 gp
7 2688 - 16 Weeks 25,000 gp
8 5376 - 32 Weeks 50,000 gp
9 8064 - 48 Weeks 250,000 gp
In addition to potential Miscasts, other complications may arrise during spellcrafting. Spellcrafting is a solitary task, unlikely to attract much attention, so the complications that arise are more likely to involve the preparation needed for the activity. Every workweek spent scribing brings a 10 percent chance of a complication.

Challenging Potential

A Wizard can only safely learn and cast spells that are within their level bounds. If a particularly ambitious Wizard wishes to wield magic above their Potential level, they must first make an Intelligence saving throw of
25 - their Intelligence score + the Spell Level
to learn the spell. On a failure, the Wizard suffers Xd10 psychic damage where X is equal to the spell level. Once learned, casting the spell requires a lesser Intelligence saving throw of
20 - their Intelligence score + the Spell Level
per cast attempt. On a failure, the spell Miscasts and produces a concurrent, unstable effect. Each time a Challenging Potential spell is successfully cast, the Wizard is rewarded with Potential equal to the spell level. Casting a Challenging Potential spell uses all of your current highest level spell slots at once.
In the event that a Wizard levels up enough that a Challenging Potential spell is within their level bounds, it is no longer considered Challenging Potential.

Forbidden Potential

It is traditional for Wizards to only study according to the precedent set by their forebears (i.e. only learn Wizard spells), but in the event that a Wizard uncovers Potential from another source--perhaps divine, natural, or otherwise in nature--and this Potential is what allows them to learn a new spell, they will have the ability to choose a spell from this extrinsic source.
For example, if a Wizard uncovers a holy tome, they may have the opportunity to learn a Cleric or Paladin spell. Or perhaps they spend time studying occultish ruins, they will therefore have the ability to unlock a Warlock spell.

Mastering Potential

In the event that a Wizard has enough Potential to unlock a new spell, they can forgo learning a new spell to instead permanently prepare a spell of commensurate level. Spells 'mastered' this way still cost spell slots to cast, but do not count towards a Wizard's "prepared amount of spells".

Afterword

While not RAW by any stretch of the imagination, this new system has made my job as a DM far more engaging and fun. Beyond just throwing spell scrolls at my player, I can now present bizarre and fantastical magical creatures and effects, and create wild magic environments - now with a player who can utilize them beyond just a standard Arcana check to learn more.
My player has become more engaged; they now view the game world in a new way - always looking for magic to observe or study. Their compatriots now have more reason to share magical artefacts with the wizard. For them to study and grow more powerful.
It's been a blast and a lot of fun for everyone. I hope you have been inspired, or at least enjoyed the read. Take care.
