Like you've got a road that you go down without stopping at the speed limit, say 30 and you're down in no time.
But then they put speed bumps and now people are speeding up, slowing down to a near stop go over, speed up again and repeat until you're free and it takes twice the time and also annoying. Just cos some people treat it like a race track and drag race down it or something.
There's 6 roads near me where I think it's pointless to put them cos cars go slow anyway cos of parked cars and the roads narrower.
The second road was a normal road but going down now they added speed bumps even though I can't imagine people went down there fast to begin with cos there's lots of parked cars and that made the road narrower and you got others going onto the other side to pass them.
I was also thinking that they've got the money to do this but not fix the potholes 😒
It feels they're being added everywhere now. Feels like the only places you can drive normally are the motorway and A and B roads everywhere else is blighted by them.
I don't speed much and understand their purpose but I'm like 😩 another road with them. Don't think suspension appreciates them either.

Back in late 2021, my husband Craig (M46) and I (F44) welcomed our fourth child into the world. As a result, we needed to upgrade one of our cars to something larger. We decided to trade in my super reliable Toyota RAV4 for something bigger since I was the one who drove the kids around most often.
I was open and ready to embrace minivan life and was planning to buy something reliable and safe, like a Honda or Kia. But Craig had his heart set on a luxury sports car; in his mind, minivans were "too feminine." So, against my better judgment, we ended up purchasing a used 2018 manual transmission Porsche Cayenne, mainly due to his insistence. He argued that this car would offer similar space to the Kia/Honda minivans I wanted but with added luxury and speed. Since it was priced like a loaded Mercedes van, we went ahead with it.
After two years, I can safely say we made the wrong choice. While the car does have good passenger space, it doesn’t seem to have as much cargo room as those minivans. The reliability has been junk. The car has had 8 recalls during our ownership. Even when not recalled, it spends too much time at the dealership because something always seems to be broken. Some repairs have been covered under warranty, but we've still shelled out over $19k (maintenance not included). The car hasn’t even racked up that many miles (420).
Below are just some of the annoyances:
The shifting can be rough. Sometimes, I press on the gas and the car instantly takes off, and when it does, it's jerky. I’m usually at 60 mph in just a few seconds.
For the past few weeks, the check engine light has been turning on randomly. Numerous electronic issues. It’s loud and bothers the neighbors. Since the car's problems have stepped up in the past few weeks, I'm beyond fed up. I don't feel safe driving it around with my kids and I've even started getting nightmares about teenagers trying to race us on the highway. Craig always downplays this and claims that it's normal for the car to have some issues.
Making things worse somehow, Craig's sedan (BMW M3) has started developing issues lately. It has begun to refuse to start some mornings and will sometimes shut itself off when it comes to a stop sign or red light.
On Saturday, I was supposed to drive our eldest to his soccer game and then take my younger kids to the doctor's office. When I turned on the Porsche, it sounded like a gorgeous V8, but the engine light was on, temps were high, and some asshole in a corvette at the stoplight reved up his engine trying to drag race us (me and my four kids could easily beat him). I don't bother risking it and end up ubering with the kids.
I told Craig about it that night. He listened at first, but when I suggested selling it, he cut me off and said that he wasn’t getting a van just because I wanted that. It was so combative and defensive the way he said it, and because I was so tired from the day, I lashed out. We argued it got heated and I ended up saying "Your fragile masculinity is costing our family so much money". In retrospect, maybe my tone was harsh, but he was being needlessly difficult. We haven’t really spoken much since then. I'll also be ubering to work this week since I won't be touching that car.

How does everyone feel about short parade laps in multi-class road series?
I realized the chaos this situation has the potential to create while messing with the MX-5 in Production Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio this past week. The parade lap begins just after the Thunder Valley section and gives the classes a short straight and kink before the last corner complex + green flag. This short run has seemed to cause a lot of multi-car pileups through the last complex and into the main straight, with cars stacking up and resultantly crashing through the first sector. Even if no class leader makes an attempt to wait for a class gap, the MX-5s (slowest class) could regularly be seen with the last 3-4 cars on the grid just pulling out of their slots as the race goes green.
Not meant to be a complaint but more of a curiosity of how others feel and if there’s a potential for adjustments in the future (whether series specific for the circumstances or overall). I know this is definitely a track specific issue and these issues stand out at tracks like Mid-Ohio, Detroit Belle Isle, other circuits with limited areas to have a short parade lap. The short parade lap system is an absolute life savor for circuits like Nords and Daytona.

Grosjean to Indy car, De Vries to WEC, Montoya to Nascar, Magnussen to IMSA. Some drivers who either left on their own or lost a seat joined other racing leagues. Where does Sargent go when he inevitably loses his seat? Do you think he'll do well or has a chance in another league?

A bit of background information: The white SF car was consistently going about 20 seconds a lap slower than everybody else and was kinda unpredictable concerning his line, which led to a few incidents. He did not have any damage.
In the first clip you can see me behind the white SF. I know that I should have been more careful, though it was the fist time encountering him for me. For reference, he was going about 90km/h in a corner you take at about 230km/h on a normal lap. I didn't expect him to be this slow and thought he would at least hit the apex then so I could go around the outside of him, which he didn't. You can also see the one behind me struggling to not crash into him.
In the second clip, it's almost the same as with me, but with the leader. He lost a few seconds as well. Just took that clip in for another example.
The third clip is then an accident between him and someone in the top 5, I believe. Though it was netcode, I don't think they would have gone trough the corner without contact. Again, he is going super slowly and driving in the middle of the circuit.
The last clip shows an onboard of his driving. As you can see and hear, he is barely even going full throttle, even on straights.
All of these incidents, which aren't even all, happened while he was being lapped. I know that he could be new to the car and / or track, just not as experienced, mistakenly registered for the race or even something else and therefore being careful, though 20 seconds a lap is quite a lot. But this was just dangerous for everyone over the whole race and he should probably stick to practice for now, if he is actually new to the car and track. Is something like this reportable and should it even be reported or would you say to just leave it as it is? In which category would you put a possible report?
I dont mean to offend anyone with this, and I am not even sure if I would want to report him, because you don't know the cause of all of this. Thank you for your answers and opinions. :)

Hey guys. Bout to have two cars up this year to start drifting and I'm new to the sport so I need help. Can any of you guys point me in the direction of some groups that put on events for drifting. Both competitive and casual.

Like you've got a road that you go down without stopping at the speed limit, say 30 and you're down in no time.
But then they put speed bumps and now people are speeding up, slowing down to a near stop go over, speed up again and repeat until you're free and it takes twice the time and also annoying. Just cos some people treat it like a race track and drag race down it or something.
There's 6 roads near me where I think it's pointless to put them cos cars go slow anyway cos of parked cars and the roads narrower.
The second road was a normal road but going down now they added speed bumps even though I can't imagine people went down there fast to begin with cos there's lots of parked cars and that made the road narrower and you got others going onto the other side to pass them.
I was also thinking that they've got the money to do this but not fix the potholes 😒
It feels they're being added everywhere now. Feels like the only places you can drive normally are the motorway and A and B roads everywhere else is blighted by them.
I don't speed much and understand their purpose but I'm like 😩 another road with them. Don't think suspension appreciates them either.

I like the grey but I feel it’s just boring. I like the red as well, but I feel like the grey will look better for a modern look. I’m entirely conflicted here and can’t make up my mind.

I was curious if any public defenders are incorporating AI into their practice. The reason I ask is because I am an attorney (transactional background -- it sucks, but pays the bills) and I recently had to deal with a somewhat complex New York Family Court motion involving issues that didn't have a vast number of appellate cases, but enough to establish clear legal precedents and demonstrate that I was being railroaded by this fucking Family Court system. Unfortunately, I was unable to afford the retainer fees that other attorneys demanded and was struggling to find representation. I had reached out to numerous law firms and nonprofits, but they were either not accepting new cases, denied my case, or the attorneys were retired or in the process of retiring. This specific area of Family Court law leaves out a large portion of people who can't pay a $20k retainer or make too much to get representation through the nonprofits.
Given the circumstances, I decided to prepare the best possible motion on my own. I had a template for the filing format, but needed additional case law support to strengthen my arguments/facts. That's where Claude came in. I provided Claude with hundreds of cases and instructed it to extract any arguments that were relevant to my case and had similar fact patterns. Since I didn't have access to Family Law on Westlaw or guidance in NYC, I used Judy Records, Google, and Casetext for most of my research. I repeated the feeding of relevant cases for all the other issues I wanted to address in the motion.
Using the summary generated by Claude, I then guided the AI in drafting the motion, directing it to incorporate case law and citations that supported my arguments from point X to point Y in the argument section. The first draft was somewhat shit and veered all over the place, but it had great arguments and support. I went through and rewrote things paragraph by paragraph to get things more concise. Overall, the process took me a few weekends to figure out the law behind the Family Court Act that my case was under since there were a lot of nuances, but most of those nuances were explained in guidance online or appellate cases.
I am well aware of the previous instances where attorneys relied on GPT for court filings, despite the well-known fact that GPT had a propensity to make shit up (hallucinate, as they call it). If you asked GPT for a case about a race car driver who murdered 10 poodles, it would miraculously provide a case with those exact details. The bigger problem, in my opinion, is that we should have been shown the OJ video about Shepardizing or given similar warnings during our FIRST year of law school, which makes me question the overall competence of those attorneys.
However, with the advancements in AI, citation issues are no longer a major concern. Out of the approximately 15 cases cited in my motion, there were only two that I couldn't initially locate. I later discovered one of the citations in a practice guide I had uploaded, even though the case was not easily accessible online. The other citation was inaccurate because I felt it didn't fully support my argument, and the case, in general, was very unfavorable to me as the Respondent.
After years of battling with Family Court, I finally prevailed in my motion -- and AI wrote 80% of my motion, helped with other filings, and scrubbed all the cases for information that was relevant. Also, I was able to take a crash course in this specific area of family law, which is just a weird but not too robust area of law.
I believe AI holds a lot of potential for handling the backend work in public defender offices, freeing up PDs to focus on other critical aspects of their cases and have an assistant that helps them with all aspects of a case, including reminders and updates. (The Microsoft AI sucks, btw. Do not let your offices get it or I think you will be very disappointed in the abilities of AI.) The potential for efficiency for PDs to handle their cases a little more easily seems great, but I wanted to get input on what others think.
Going through this whole process has been a real eye-opener for me, making me realize just how fucking ridiculous the NY state family courts are, just like all those articles have been saying. On the bright side, it felt pretty damn good to legally slap the shit out of the Petitioner after all the crap they've put me through. When the Petitioner responded to my motion, they didn't even bother using a single legal case or precedent to back up their argument. Instead, they resorted to attacking my misuse of a word a couple of times. AI and I whipped up a response in just a couple of hours, calling out how desperate it is to nitpick word usage in a pro se filing when they clearly don't have any legal support for their position. Man, I wish I could dish out these kinds of smackdowns in my day-to-day work.
It's about time I change jobs and do something that lets me legally fight against these bullshit systems instead of helping douchebag companies buy and sell each other. I enjoyed the writing battle and how I knew my shit by the time I appeared for that motion. It feels great to finally have won this bullshit battle, and I wouldn't have been able to write and research so quickly without AI (Claude, specifically, as GPT didn't work well for legal writing or case citations, with a little bit of help from the Gemini AIStudio version).
Ok... that's my long, throwaway account post. I hope others begin taking advantage of AI. Thank you for all the work you do! Hopefully I can transition to something more aligned with PD work or reforming this fucked up NY family court.

Title

Hello, I (18M) have been building out my project car (6 speed 7th gen Honda accord in case anyone was wondering lol) since I was 16. I’m begging to work on the body of the car as I begin to finish the preformance work. So far I’ve just blacked out the hood (ricer I know lol), but I was thinking about adding a large cross decal, somewhere on the body/windsheild. The only problem is that I don’t want to do something dumb in traffic (cutting up, revving, racing, etc.) and someone sees the cross decal and gets a bad taste in their mouths about it. I know it’s silly but like I know it could happen. Plus it seems weird to be racing around and (I’ll be honest here) actively breaking traffic laws with a big cross decal on my car. On the contrary, a 13-14 something guy could see my car and go “oh maybe Christian’s are pretty cool!” And start looking into his local church because “maybe Christian’s can actually be pretty cool, and it’s not just boring old people!”
I know it’s a silly post but it’s been on my mind recently lol

I join the Race, everyone is chatting normally, Warm normal, Qualifying all Cars disappear on my Track, and when I start the Race all cars never leave the Grid space or the Start/Finish line. It's like the Game just glitches completely out and cars are just lined up on the Start/finish line but they aren't Ghost cars either. I'm at a loss of what to do.
