Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster. Hope you're all well.
I live in Melb, and have FTTP, and consistently get 950/40. It's not really necessary, but through a few hacks I am getting it for $89 per month via Aussie Broadband, and have done so for nine months now (basically, their $20 off for new customers + $20 off for upgrading speed, and when it ended, I threatened leaving, and they just caved and let me keep it for that speed).
I'm using a Deco mesh setup - their XE75s, three of them, two are hardwired, one wireless. I think because it's an apartment, the wireless one is able to reach the others on the 6Ghz band, and I think that makes a big difference, given the amount of interference on the 5Ghz band (we live in an apartment block). Now Wifi 7 is on the horizon.... exciting times. If only I could get my hands on a cheap set of Deco BE65s or so, just to test them out! But I know many areas aren't approved fully yet - for me, the most important being the tech that improves the range and speed of the 6Ghz band.
Anyway, the point of the post is that at my parent's house, in rural VIC, they only have fixed wireless. No matter which provider I tried - and despite installing a mesh Deco X75 system (5Ghz backhaul, without the 6E) - they would get 50/10, max. Anyway, then I found out about the whole "Telstra 5G modem thing". Basically, it is $80 a month, and if you are eligible, they send you a modem/router that has a 5G chip in it. Because we are fairly close to a Telstra tower, my parents signed up, and with the Deco units in access point mode, they are now getting consistently, including peak periods, 300/30 or so. Sometimes even 400/30 or more. The latency isn't bad, 5ms or so. I just did a speed test now, 555/31, during peak period.
So to anyone in rural areas - consider signing up for this plan, if you can. The only downsides I can see are: a) you are limited to 1000GB data per month (which is a lot, really, and if you go over it, your speed is decreased, you aren't charged more), and b) they limit the number of households per postcode who can sign up - otherwise it would become so slow and hence pointless. $80 a month is reasonable, too, my parents weren't paying much less than that for their fixed wireless plans.
Apparently the NBN people are "upgrading" the fixed wireless near their home late this year, who knows what that means, maybe a tower closer to their home, which may improve the fixed wireless speeds and latency. There are just too many homes, trees, obstacles between their house and the tower, along with the sheer distance (around 6km).
So yeah, it was just as a PSA. If anyone can think of any downsides, please comment, I'm not an IT guru, I'm just impressed that we can get these speeds. The Deco units are doing an excellent job, given only one is hardwired (into the WAN of the Telstra modem/router, they're entirely relying on a wireless backhaul in a five-bedroom, old home, with many walls between the units (about eight walls between the originating node and the furthest node). Connecting to the furthest node gives speeds around 300/25 or so, on average.

Ok so I am admittedly a pretty casual online poker player, but I study and review my hands and am fairly sure I'm at least solid. I've also played live for years and used to win consistently enough to supplement my income with it.
I pretty much exclusively play MTTs and am on the worst downswing I've ever experienced either live or online. It's been almost four months and nothing I do seems to make any difference. I will go multiple orbits with nothing but trash hands, then when I finally get something playable, I either go up against something bigger or get sucked out on somehow. I know there's a million people online saying they're the unluckiest player in the world, but this seems to go beyond normal variance. I mean like, I'm getting it in with the best hand 80-90% of the time but win about 10% of the time. Every time I hit a monster hand like a full house or flush, I can't get any action out of my opponents, whether I bet it or try to trap and induce bluffs. I will watch some fish just shovel their chips over to other players and make insane calls or raises with nothing and lose, but every time I'm in a hand with them, they have it or just call with garbage and hit the turn and river to beat me.
I keep studying. I look for holes in my game and try to adjust. I understand variance. But I really just don't know what else to do. Nothing works. I'm even pretty good at staying calm and not letting tilt affect my play, but ultimately, I just run terribly. I love poker, and when I get even moderately lucky, I tend to go deep. But should I just quit? I've forgotten what it's like to actually win 2 or 3 big hands in succession or be high in the chip counts, when it used to be a regular thing for me. And that's not fun. Or do I just push through and keep losing money in the hopes that maybe my luck will eventually change? Is it possible this just keeps going?
I don't know. Not even sure what I'm looking for here. Just feeling so frustrated and defeated right now. Gotten to the point where I just expect to lose.

I have an 8 year old Samsung RS25J500DBC side-by-side that is no longer cooling. This is the second time this happened. When it was under warranty, I went though hell trying to get them to fix it. I don't want to deal with Samsung again.
I'm in the market for a side-by-side with external ice and water maker and a capacity greater than 25 cubic feet. I'm aware of the issues with LG's linear compressors. The LRSXS2706V uses the newer inverter compressor. Im not sure if that is more reliable in practice but would be interested to hear about others experience with it.
The GE is supposed to be the more reliable in its category. The latest models have the issue with the RFID reader preventing the use of generic water filters. But there is a hack to tape the RFID chip in the water filter label near the reader inside the fridge to bypass it. I'd still have to deal with the "change filter" light always being on but that is a small compromise.
I wouldn't mind advice on different brands or models in this category but I'd like to keep the price below $1200.

Evening all, visiting LV in August of this year.
I’m looking for a casino where I could have a game of poker without losing mega bucks … I’m kinda thinking like an online version (but in real life) where you pay your money ($10-20 ideally) and then you play against 10 other people or so. When your chips are gone, you’re out. No buy ins or paying more to play on.
If I may relate it to the online game, I pay £5, get 1500 chips, use them and when they’re gone, that’s it. The online version pays for the top 3 out of 10.
Hope that all makes sense !

I'm a lesbian. I have a group of straight girl friends. Found out I was the only one not invited to their girls trip in Vegas. I asked why cause I love Vegas. Friend said they didn't think I'd be interested ( their clubbing, going to chip n dale). I told her she's right I wouldn't want to do those things. But I do love going to Vegas, playing poker, sitting at the pool...I wouldve just done my own thing and then meet up with them for dinner and stuff. She then asked if I wanted to go.. I honestly just feel excluded from the group. I get not inviting someone cause you think they'll say no. But this has happened in the past where I've said, look I just want the invite so that I can decide for myself. Apart of me wonders if I was excluded because I am a lesbian and they just wanted "girls weekend" to which I reply I am a girl. Hurts a lot.

Friend said they didn't think I'd be interested ( their clubbing, going to chip n dale). I told her she's right I wouldn't want to do those things. But I do love going to Vegas, playing poker, sitting at the pool...I wouldve just done my own thing and then meet up with them for dinner and stuff. She then asked me if i wanted to gom. I honestly just feel excluded from the group. I get not inviting someone cause you think they'll say no. But this has happened in the past where I've said, look I just want the invite so that I can decide for myself. Apart of me wonders if I was excluded because I am a lesbian and they just wanted "girls weekend" to which I reply I am a girl. Hurts a lot.

A bit burnt out on long games right now, so I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions for some short but fun platinums? Ideally with no missable trophies so I don't have to follow a guide except for cleanup.
I just finished Unpacking and now I'm playing Cat Quest, just for some examples of what I mean. Not My Name is Mayo or anything like that please.
Would also be interested in suggestions for longer hack and slash games with no missables, those are some of my favourites to chip away at. Right now I'm working on Samurai Warriors 4-II, and I intend to continue on with Koei's Musou games, but I definitely need breaks from them.

My wife and I have started putting on a “Quest” at our family reunion each year and I’m feeling a bit uninspired this go ‘round. We typically set up challenges at different stations with puzzles, games and trivia, all of which we create from scratch to make sure no one has an upper hand (in case they knew the game already). Last year, we went to the dollar tree and bought a bunch of random toys, then came up with ideas after. I still have those items, but am hoping for other options to mix things up without having to go buy more stuff. With that said, do you have any random toys/items around you’ve been considering parting with that you think might fit the brief? Scrabble tiles? Ball pit balls? Poker chips? Brain game books? We do it for ~30 people, so there does need to be more than one of each item (except for the brain game books!), but even groups of 2, 5, 10, etc would be great! Just any quantity more than 1.
Appreciate any help you all can provide! Hopefully this will help keep some plastic out of the landfills and get some creative juices flowing…

Despite the title, there are some elements of this game I really enjoyed. The visuals are great. There were multiple moments where I said to myself "I cant believe how far video game fidelity has come". I also enjoyed the story. For me, the benchmark of a good video game narrative is, "Do I care about what happens to the main characters?" And Jedi: Survivor got me to care about the main characters. The story deals with themes of loss and purpose but these are shallow explorations. I also really liked how it was a semi-open world. I bounced off God of War (2018) because it felt like I was being corralled from arena to arena like livestock. There's a good amount of exploration in this game and it rewards you appropriately for your curiosity. I am going to critique the combat mechanics for this game but none of that applies for the boss fights. They are kinda soulslike where you have to learn the attack patterns and find openings but much more forgiving with the amount of health and stims. As someone who is not great at souls games, the extra stims were nice because it meant more time fighting and I could learn the boss quicker. The mechanics are tuned for single combat which is why the boss fights were my favorite part of the experience. Finally, I love that droid BD-1 so much. They made him so darn cute that I was actually hoping for a section where I could play as the droid. There is so much life and character injected into him with the animations and sounds he makes.(Fun fact: the sound design for BD-1 was done by Ben Burtt, the sound designer the for the original trilogy and the guy who popularized the wilhem scream.) My favorite BD-1ism is when you kneel and meditate to acquire a skill point/extra life or force, BD-1 will hop off your back and sit down next to you, in a very monkey see, monkey do moment. Its so unbelievably cute and endearing that I would commit war crimes for this droid. I could keep going on about BD-1 but then this post would get too long.
However, the combat in this game is so unbelievably frustrating. Specifically, fighting multiple, tough enemies is a huge pain in the ass. What will happen is you are being attacked by 2 enemies and you're blocking and dodging your little heart out and finally you see an opening where no one is railing you so you press x to attack them and finally teach those droids a lesson. But whats this? A third droid is behind you and jumps at you with an unblockable attack? You now have to watch helplessly as that third droid sticks his electro-blade up your keister, which interrupts your attack and staggers you for second. The other two droids have recovered and decide to join the third droid in accessing your prison wallet, at which point they've drained you of 90% of your health and the B2 battle droids shoot in the face and you die.
Now the last paragraph is a bit dramatized and I hope at least one of you chuckled while reading it, but the point is, fighting multiple enemies is not fun. You can't cancel attack animations unless you use the dual blade stance(the weakest stance imo) so strategy becomes, take out ranged enemies first and then run in circles doing chip damage until there's one enemy left and then disembowel him. Just never stay in one place long enough to get triple teamed. There are lightsaber skills and force abilities that can be unlocked that improve you combat ability. The problem is those skills just don't do very much damage and leave you vulnerable to getting attacked so you rarely use them outside of boss fights. I think they should've made it more of hack 'n slash when fighting multiple enemies and then force you to slow down when fighting bosses and mini bosses. Really leaning into the power fantasy of wielding a lightsaber and being a jedi knight. Most of the lightsaber skills are under powered for multiple enemies and by the time you realize that you should be dumping skill points into confusion and telekinesis, you've already maxed out two lightsaber trees and yes the first respec is free but any respec after that costs a skill point??? Like I'm sorry but in what world does spending skills points to respec skill points make sense. The devs are actively punishing players who want to experiment with different stances or force powers and is very frustrating. To be fair, there is no level cap so for players who explore every nook and cranny or just spend a lot of time in the game this won't be a problem. But I mainly followed the story so respecing was costly and I didn't feel like grinding. This is a problem I have with RPGs in general. Unless you have a good reason, make respecing free or cheap. The point of this respec rant is to say that the combat could've been less frustrating if i could experiment with different builds and powers to find solutions.
Finally, this game got railed at launch for performance issues and in my experience these issues are still present. During my ~20 hours of playtime the game hard crashed around 5 times. I don't remember the exact number but it was definitely more than 3 and less than 10. I also noticed stuttering and poor frame rates happening sporadically throughout my play through. The most infuriating crash and the straw that finally broke my dromedarian ass was during the finale. With spoiling anything, there's a section of the game that makes you run a gauntlet where is just keeps sending waves of increasingly tough enemies, some of which were mini bosses in earlier parts of the game. Now I'm not the best gamer so it took me a couple of tries and when I finally finished the gauntlet I was very relieved. I could finally blink and my heart rate could come back down. I go to move on to the next area and the hard crashes without warning.I reboot the game I am back at the last meditation point, erasing not only the gauntlet but around 20 minutes of progress as well. Believe me when I tell you fellow redditor, this broke me. This level of stability is completely unacceptable for a game with a bonfire save system. This game had just erased ~30 minutes of unfun gameplay and this broke me. I put the game on story mode until the final boss fight.
I know just wrote lot of words detailing what I didn't like about Jedi Survivor but I don't think its a bad game. A bad game fails across the board and there's still reasons this game is enjoyable. Being a jedi is a popular fantasy and this game makes you feel like a jedi knight
Tl:dr despite some really enjoyable elements, the combat, the core mechanic of the game, when fighting multiple enemies is so frustrating its drags down what could've been an amazing game. This is due to being underwhelming lightsaber skills, unable to cancel attack animations and respecing is too costly to allow for experimentation

Standard Boss Blinds:
The Hook: Discards 4 random cards per hand played.
The Ox: Playing a [most played hand] sets money to 0$; then lose 1 additional $ for each time it has been played.
The House: First hand is drawn face down and debuffed.
The Wall: Extra large blind. Score at least 7X Base to earn $$$$$.
The Wheel: 1 in 4 cards get drawn face down, 1 in 4 cards get debuffed when drawn.
The Arm: Decrease level of played poker hand. If played hand is level 1, lose $5.
The Club + The Goad: All black cards are debuffed.
The Fish: Cards are drawn face down and debuffed after each hand played.
The Psychic: Must play or discard 5 cards. If you do not, destroy all played or discarded cards.
The Water: Start with 0 discards. -1 hands and -1 hand size.
The Window + The Head: All red cards are debuffed.
The Manacle: -1 hand size. When you play a hand, -1 hand size for this blind.
The Eye: No repeat hand types this round. Played repeat hands are set to level 1 permanently.
The Mouth: Play only 1 hand type this round. Played unique hands are set to level 1 permanently.
The Plant + The Mark: All face cards are debuffed and drawn face down.
The Serpent: After play or discard, always draw 1 less card than played or discarded, with a maximum of 3.
The Pillar: Cards played previously this ante are drawn face down and debuffed.
The Needle: Play only 1 hand. -1 Discard. Score at least 2X base to win $$$$$.
The Tooth: Lose 2$ per card played or discarded.
The Flint: Final Chips and Mult are halved.
Final Boss Blinds:
Amber Acorn: Flips and shuffles all Joker cards. Repeat this effect after a hand is played or discarded.
Verdant Leaf: All cards debuffed and face down until 2 Jokers sold.
Violet Vessel: Very large blind. Score at least 13X Base to win $$$$$$$$.
Crimson Heart: Two random Jokers disabled every hand.
Cerulean Bell: Forces 2 cards to always be selected. They are both debuffed.
