I decided to go no contact with my mom in August. She never comes to see me or my 2 children. My youngest is 10 m.o and my mom has yet to meet her or even try to meet her. Nothing she wanted no part of my wedding dress shopping ,taking pictures with me be4 my wedding and even tried to pay me out of marrying my husband of now 9 years. (I'm still salty about it) I have asked her to come visit many many many times and she don't,she lives 10 mins away. We can't visit her house bc she smokes and her boyfriend is abusive and don't want me kids around him. My sister and her kids gets visits every now and again from her and they txt all the time. The only times I get texts from my mom is birthdays and some holiday. The very few times my mom has come over she loads my oldest up with toys and gifts, same thing at birthday parties for my sister's kids. My mom gets all the kids gifts on the others kids birthday's. She didn't come to child's 2 birthday n ignored my calls and texts but called my sister to tell her she would not be coming. A year n half or so My mom left her boyfriend for a week or so and stayed at my sister's, I visited everyday. She went back. I have cleaned out the spare room in my home manyyy times for to stay with us and she never ends up coming. I asked her repeatedly to be constant in my children's lives, to come visit them,to have a relationship with them and she don't. My oldest 3 don't even know who she is if I show her a picture of her. My mom texted me late last night. And reading it I'm left feeling so annoyed n invalid. She's always let me dwn and has hurt me so much on the way. At ever turns she's left me feeling unloved,her actions are the opposite of her words. Always. I feel so lost. I just want a mom who shows she cares and don't just say it. Empty comments about loving me n caring for me but hurt. I went no contact in Aug bc my mental health was suffering so bad. I have depression and my mom and I'm relationship is a Hugee trigger. So i am reaching out in hopes to meet friends and make some new connections in the . Im a 30 year old single father and i was in a relationship for 6 years now that has just ended. We where engaged after 1 year. She never worked and has lived in government houseing and been under income assistance her whole life. She had a very hard up bringing and has really done well for herself for what she was given for a life as a child. I seen alot of love and passion for her kids when i first met her. She was rough around the edges but gave me alot of hope and and trust because of her motherly ability, and her abiltity to make in through rough times and to persevere and make the best out of her life. She lived quite rurally when i met her. And i lived in the city. I was getting tired of the city and began to fall in love with her over a years time . And began to grow a soft spot in my heart for the 3 young girls she had. This gave me the confidence to change my path in life and make the move 950 km away from everything i ever knew. The kids father was never involved and had been in and out of jail there whole young lives. As well as having a restraining order against him towards my ex. When i came up they where 1 and almost 3 . I have raised them as my own since the time i met them. I took over as the father figure they needed. I got them moved out of government housing and into a apartment - then a house. Work ran dry as we where living rurally and as i had took over as the family provider i needed to make a decision . Stay rurally where life is simplier. But chance looseing everything , or move back to city where i have supports and work is plenty. We made that move and have never looked back ! But once we moved down to the city our family began falling apart. I began working alot more hours and my fiancee was not use to me not beeing around as the last 4 or 5 months i was basically just working enough to pay the bills. It made us loose one another. She got pregant after 1 year of beding back down in the city. It seemed to really put a new lease on our reltionship ! But after 7 months our son was born premature and died at birth. This crushed us both and for another year we just stsrted declining as a family as a cohesive unit like a partnership should be.
It was around christmas after all of this that i found out my fiancee was cheating on me. She had been selling her used panties online , offering men sex for money , and exchanging sexual texts and photos with men who lived back in the rural town we use to live in. I was heart broken and said it was over then. 💔 but she proceeds to tell me she is pregnant again. And that we should really try to make it work for the babys sake.
It took me alot of time and i said okay . I forgive you but i can not keep doing this. If it happens again we are over.
Everything seemed fine until just after our son was born. I began noticing she never wanted to cuddle anymore , she was always. Complaining about my character and gas liting me for things. Telling me how shitty a dad i am . Well turning around the next day and telling how great i am and trying to make love to me .
I began to think she was chesting again once we got in a fight because i seen all these random men in her friends list on facebook that i had never met or seen in my life. And she has always made it clear im not allowed to have any woman outside of family on my facebook or even in my contacts on my phone. Ive gotten in shit for talking with the hr lady at work -.-. So when i seen this i brought it up and was like this is a,bit of a double standard dont you think ? And i got told im looking to stsrt fights and that all i do is accuse her.
Well because of this she deleted me off facebook and deleted my whole family. For 4 month's i have been sending her friend requests and telling her how much it bugs me and hurts me. I call her my fiancee but she cant add me on facebook. All i could see was ger profile picture changes. So one day im looking at her likes on her profile picture's and low and behold are 4 different men all single men . Who lived in the area we did before, who use to flirt with her all the time before we officially got together. So again i bring up this and go this is really bugging me and i know stuff is going on. She use to send me nudes and spicy photos as a couple . But that has completely stopped 6 months ago. I bought her a new phone and we both have acces to each others phones . Well she got mad accused me of snapchatting with woman in the past , so i deleted the app completely as we use to use it for our spicy photos. Well the new phone i just bought her she downloaded snapchat on. And in her photo gallerys has prob 200 nude photos of herself . Well not 1 has been sent to me . But so help i add a lady who was a friend from highschool on my facebook. 🤨 .
So this all came to ahead and i confronted her . I wrote how it hurt me and if she was done lets do this like adults and not lie and hurt 1 another. I never got a responses other then i cant complete your accuseing me of this shit how dare you , your fucking rude , fuck you type thing.
So fast forward a month or so later and im in the car with my mother . Now my parents rent us there basement suite. As im in the car with my mother the kids grandmother . She tells me the other night my middle daughter told them they paid for a new place and its only for them (3 kids) and mom . Not dad. So my mother and father where quite thrown off to here this from my daughter who is 8.
So my mom told me this happened. So i txt my ex fiancee and she takes 45 minutes to reply back to me.
She had it prepared as she sent about a 3 page message to me telling me how she is not happy , and needs her own space , and stills wants to work on us but needs her own space. I go after everything we have been through and you do this sneakly behind my back. Like we where struggling money wise a little bit. And i had 1500 in savings . I got paid on 3 days. And she beggggedd me to pull money out of savings to buy some groceries. I said thats fine if we need food we need food.
Well i find out she had applied for income assistance and had been saving money for this place the whole time. As well i bought her abd the girls 4 tickets to TS . She proceed to tell me her ticketmaster account got hacked and someone took her tickets which are now worth 3000 plus each. After all of this went down im begining to think she sold the tickets as pocketed the money .
Im so broken and as i pick up the peices and try to make in through the rest of the month with pain of her living here still , hurting me everyday. It hurts to not see it coming , nd it hurts to see the family you worked so hard to create and better and grow . Fracture and disapate.
I do have my reasons but i beleive sge is either running a only fans account or may be escorting /selling sex for money.
I want to have my family work out and i have tried time and time again to fix things. But at a certain point you need to let things go and if its ment to be it will be.
Im writing this in hopes to meet maybe some younger singles who may have gone through anything similar and who are looking to decompress and have someone to talk with and be friends with ! Simple text files are at the heart of Linux, so editing these is a key sysadmin skill. There are a range of simple text editors aimed at beginners. Some more common examples you'll see are nano and pico. These look as if they were written for DOS back in the 1980's - but are pretty easy to "just figure out".
The Real Sysadmin^tm however, uses vi - this is the editor that's always installed by default - and today you'll get started using it.
Bill Joy wrote Vi back in the mid 1970's - and even the "modern" Vim that we'll concentrate on is over 20 years old, but despite their age, these remain the standard editors on command-line server boxes. Additionally, they have a loyal following among programmers, and even some writers. Vim is actually a contraction of Vi IMproved and is a direct descendant of Vi.
Very often when you type vi, what the system actually starts is vim. To see if this is true of your system type, run:
bash vi --version
You should see output similar to the following if the vi command is actually [symlinked](19.md#two-sorts-of-links) to vim:

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE VIM INSTALLED?

The rest of this lesson assumes that you have vim installed on your system, which it often is by default. But in some cases it isn't and if you try to run the vim commands below you may get an error like the following:

OPTION 1 - ALIAS VIM

One option is to simply substitute vi for any of the vim commands in the instructions below. Vim is reverse compatible with Vi and all of the below exercises should work the same for Vi as well as for Vim. To make things easier on ourselves we can just alias the vim command so that vi runs instead:
bash echo "alias vim='vi'" >> ~/.bashrc source ~/.bashrc

OPTION 2 - INSTALL VIM

The other option, and the option that many sysadmins would probably take is to install Vim if it isn't installed already.
To install Vim on Ubuntu using the system [package manager](15.md), run:
bash sudo apt install vim

Note: Since [Ubuntu Server LTS](00-VPS-big.md#intro) is the recommended Linux distribution to use for the Linux Upskill Challenge, installing Vim for all of the other various Linux "distros" is outside of the scope of this lesson. The command above "should" work for most Debian-family Linux OS's however, so if you're running Mint, Debian, Pop!_OS, or one of the many other flavors of Ubuntu, give it a try. For Linux distros outside of the Debian-family a few simple web-searches will probably help you find how to install Vim using other Linux's package managers.

THE TWO THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

• There are two "modes" - with very different behaviours
• Little or nothing onscreen lets you know which mode you're currently in!

The two modes are "normal mode" and "insert mode", and as a beginner, simply remember:
"Press Esc twice or more to return to normal mode"
The "normal mode" is used to input commands, and "insert mode" for writing text - similar to a regular text editor's default behaviour.

INSTRUCTIONS

So, first grab a text file to edit. A copy of /etc/services will do nicely:
bash cd pwd cp -v /etc/services testfile vim testfile
At this point we have the file on screen, and we are in "normal mode". Unlike nano, however, there’s no onscreen menu and it's not at all obvious how anything works!
Start by pressing Esc once or twice to ensure that we are in normal mode (remember this trick from above), then type :q! and press Enter. This quits without saving any changes - a vital first skill when you don't yet know what you're doing! Now let's go in again and play around, seeing how powerful and dangerous vim is - then again, quit without saving:
bash vim testfile
Use the keys h j k and l to move around (this is the traditional vi method) then try using the arrow keys - if these work, then feel free to use them - but remember those hjkl keys because one day you may be on a system with just the traditional vi and the arrow keys won't work.
Now play around moving through the file. Then exit with Esc Esc :q! as discussed earlier.
Now that you've mastered that, let's get more advanced.
bash vim testfile
This time, move down a few lines into the file and press 3 then 3 again, then d and d again - and suddenly 33 lines of the file are deleted!
Why? Well, you are in normal mode and 33dd is a command that says "delete 33 lines". Now, you're still in normal mode, so press u - and you've magically undone the last change you made. Neat huh?
Now you know the three basic tricks for a newbie to vim:

• Esc Esc always gets you back to "normal mode"
• From normal mode :q! will always quit without saving anything you've done, and
• From normal mode u will undo the last action

So, here's some useful, productive things to do:

• Finding things: From normal mode, type G to get to the bottom of the file, then gg to get to the top. Let's search for references to "sun", type /sun to find the first instance, hit enter, then press n repeatedly to step through all the next occurrences. Now go to the top of the file (gg remember) and try searching for "Apple" or "Microsoft".
• Cutting and pasting: Go back up to the top of the file (with gg) and look at the first few lines of comments (the ones with "#" as the first character). Play around with cutting some of these out, and pasting them back. To do this simply position the cursor on a line, then (for example), type 11dd to delete 11 lines, then immediately paste them back in by pressing P - and then move down the file a bit and paste the same 11 lines in there again with P
• Inserting text: Move anywhere in the file and press i to get into "insert mode" (it may show at the bottom of the screen) and start typing - and Esc Esc to get back into normal mode when you're done.
• Writing your changes to disk: From normal mode type :w to "write" but stay in vim, or :wq to “write and quit”.

This is as much as you ever need to learn about vim - but there's an enormous amount more you could learn if you had the time. Your next step should be to run vimtutor and go through the "official" Vim tutorial. It typically takes around 30 minutes the first time through. To solidify your Vim skills make a habit of running through the vimtutor every day for 1-2 weeks and you should have a solid foundation with the basics.

Note: If you aliased vim to vi for the excercises above, now might be a good time to install vim since this is what provides the vimtutor command. Once you have Vim installed, you can run :help vimtutor from inside of Vim to view the help as well as a few other tips/tricks.

However, if you're serious about becoming a sysadmin, it's important that you commit to using vim (or vi) for all of your editing from now on.
One last thing, you may see reference to is the Vi vs. Emacs debate. This is a long running rivalry for programmers, not system administrators - vi/vim is what you need to learn.

WHY CAN'T I JUST STICK WITH NANO?

• In many situations as a professional, you'll be working on other people's systems, and they're often very paranoid about stability. You may not have the authority to just "sudo apt install " - even if technically you could.
  
• However, vi is always installed on any Unix or Linux box from tiny IoT devices to supercomputer clusters. It is actually required by the Single Unix Specification and POSIX.
  
• And frankly it's a shibboleth for Linux pros. As a newbie in an interview it's fine to say you're "only a beginner with vi/vim" - but very risky to say you hate it and can never remember how to exit.
  

So, it makes sense if you're aiming to do Linux professionally, but if you're just working on your own systems then by all means choose nano or pico etc.

-fiancé had another talk with his dad and continued standing up to his dad
-Eventually; his parents agreed to meet in person to resolve the matter.
-I stated to my fiancé that if his father berates me in person, I’ll get up and leave to which my fiancé took my stance badly and had an emotional breakdown because he felt unsupported by me.
-My fiancé told his friends that he is about to take his life so his friend called his parents and everyone came down to see him. When I was there at the apartment and met his parents, his mom approached me for a hug. I awkwardly gave her a hug back to which I pointed out that FIL texts were very hurtful. Her response was that “he needed to get it off his chest and that it may not be acceptable to you”
-His parents expressed an interest in coming to our wedding so I have been having my parents stepped in to help with whatever wedding preparations is needed so I don’t have to deal with them.
-my fiancé and I moved into our new place recently and a lot of furniture were ordered in so it needed a lot of work to put it together. His dad offered to drive down and help my fiancé put the stuff together. My fiancé brought up about how his mom is going around to jewelry shops to get me a gift.
-I told him that I don’t want to talk about what his parents are currently doing as it doesn’t erase everything that they have done and said. He said I reacted poorly when he wanted to talk about the good things that they are doing and that they are showing they are “sorry in their actions”. He asked me to open my heart and try. It ended up with a disagreement.
-we had our counselling session today. He advised my fiancé that I wasn’t ready to hear it when it comes to his parents and that I shouldn’t hear it from my fiancé. That the steps in earning forgiveness is essentially giving a proper apology first and showing remorse and that they have skipped the first two steps. Helping to put furniture together and buying jewelry is dancing around the issue. He told my fiancé that it’s a big thing to tell your DIL that you want nothing to do with her and it warranted an apology.
-it came up in the session that my fiancé wanted me to reach out to my FIL to express appreciation for his help on the furniture to which our counsellor said it’s inappropriate in this situation and that while he is mediating, he should be my advocate.
-I also learned in this session that my fiancé takes the position that his mom gave 4 apologies and considers them to be apologies so he’s not on my side at all.
Am I being unreasonable for deserving a genuine actual apology?
Am I being unreasonable to want to be civil and keep the relationship at a distance (low contact) with his parents should there be no apology from them?
My fiancé is insisting that I should open my heart because “his parents are taking the steps to show that they are sorry”.

So I (28M) matched and been talking to this girl (25F) for almost 2 months now. We talked sparingly on hinge for a month, shared numbers, and now been on 2 dates in the past 3 weeks (third date supposedly this week, didn’t confirm a day yet). I've been wanting to get this off my chest for a while so here i go lol. As we all (unfortuanately) know a lot has been going on with hybe in 2024. MIN HEEJIN
I am honest to god sick to death of the k-netizens eating up every little thing min heejin says. That woman is a weirdo, capital WEIRDO. No matter if every word she has spoken is true, she still wouldn't be a good person. She made new jeans sing cookie (did we all just forget that??), she was involved in an inapproprate photoshoot with shinee and has a bunch of weirdo posters on her wall. That woman is not to be trusted. It's not a flex when she says she's like a mum to new jeans. In fact its worrying. Why the hell are you, as their boss, like a mother to them? They have parents, they dont need you. It's giving new jeans don't have healthy boundaries between their boss.
Also, min heejin is not a genius for gods sake. If i see another new jeans fan leave a comment saying new jeans clone on another group, i'm going to scream. I LOVE new jeans (minji is my girl fr) but you guys need to grow up. The entire concept has been taken from pink pantheress/ bedroom pop indie artists. Like be so frrrrr. Obviously the recent thing is with illit (i'll get to that) but even before then the fans were losing their minds for no good reason. Imagine if red velvet fans got upset that other groups did similar concepts to them? They would be called crazy. It's not a good look. It makes the fandom look bitter and insecure about the idea that new jeans is a strong group outside of their concepts. It's not giving girls girl, it's giving hater. I'm sure illit love listening to new jeans and loved the dances because they're literally in the same age range. It is so unnecessary to hate on them because of the similar concept.
On one hand kpop fans get angry when you bring up that kpop is built off of black culture or say that le sserafims song smart sounds like a tyla song. They will deny and defend and say it doesnt matter but god forbid a teenage group from the same company be similar to another teenage group. Bighit obviously was inspired by min heejin because since new jeans they've given a lot of their groups songs outside of the usual kpop sound. Txt with stuff like back for more and tinnitus, le sserafim with smart and perfect night etc. Min heejin should have taken the compliment instead of attacking illit.
BANG SI HYUK
Don't get me wrong, i'm not a hybe/ bang sihyuk defender. That man is a weirdo too. He just got incredibly lucky with BTS. The rappers in BTS wanted the vocalists to sing live and encouraged them to improve. Namjoon really gave the group an identity with his lyricism. The group put the work in, bang sihyuk got lucky and now thinks he's all that. No. He's a slimy weirdo obsessed with profits like any other business man.
HOWEVER min heejin is not the good one in the story either. they both suck. And min heejin has done nothing but encourage the hate sent over to illit despite being a grown woman.
ILLIT
On the topic of illit, let's get into it. Illit are not great vocalists but they arent as terrible as people are acting they are. The entire group other than perhaps Yunah and Minju struggled with magnetic, however when i saw lucky girl syndrome they were much better. it's clear that magnetic was not a song they were comfortable with and thats on hybe. Though moka... girl idk she doesnt seem able to sing at all. HOWEVER the bullying that k netizens have taken to is awful. The international netizens are being much kinder but for some reason the k netizens decided this was the worst thing a kpop group could do. Never mind the girl in kiss of life/ baby monster saying a slur. Nevermind sakura bullying a girl by calling her fat online. No, instead they saw that a new, popular group sucked at singing a song and was being called a copy by min heejin and decided this is where they draw the line.
I saw a post of them dressed in what i thought was cute, age appropraite outfits and i see k netizens saying its weird and lolicon. You guys are foul. Like actually foul. When new jeans LITERALLY was being made to sing cookie, it wasnt a big deal, but a cute very normal kpop skirt and top is too far? Insanity. I feel it is okay to criticise illits vocals but actual harrassment is horrible. In a couple years time everyone will look back on the hate illit went through and act as if they werent apart of it. TRUST ME. It happened with garam, it happened with soojin, it happened with jennie, it happened with aespa. I just hope none of the girls take the hate to heart because if i were them i wouldn't know what to do.
I've already talked about how ridiculous the copying scandal is but even if that were such a big problem... WHAT DO YOU THINK BULLYING KIDS IS GOING TO DO??? They aren't in charge of their concepts let alone what the company decided to do with them. I saw a video with them doing the spot challenge with zico and the comments were disgusting, trying to humilate them. The truth is kpop fans are like sharks in the water, they don't care if your racist, sexist or fatphobic - they only care about winning over the other groups.
I saw a video of kiss of life barely singing the chorus to their song and compared to the comments on illits version of that, they were lovely. Complimenting them, explaining its the chorus and they're dancing so ofc they cant sing live. I know illit has actual vocal problems but the videos were practically identical and the comments were almost opporisite. On illits version they were saying they cant even sing a single word of the chorus, they're not even trying etc. It's not actually about improvement, it's about proving your fav group is better.
CONCLUSIONS Idk I'm angry at everything that's been going on. I don't defend illits terrible vocals but i condemn the hate being sent to them. I hate the min heejin support. I hate hybe and its lack of care for its artists. But if you have different thoughts please share them, i just want to understand bc right now I feel like I'm going crazy :'(

DISCLAIMER: Spoilers ahead, so don’t bother reading if you don’t want to spoil it for yourself! I’ll also be linking most of the videos and images from Twitter.
TXT kicked off their 3rd world tour ACT; Promise on Friday, 3rd of May in KSPO Dome. They will be performing for 3 consecutive days and proceed to other countries to continue the tour. Yesterday was DAY 1. I wanted to make this post after watching the concert online yesterday but I decided tune into Day 2 performance and let it sink again before I made a more comprehensive post. In addition, with day 1 being the first performance, there’s bound to be some technical issues, nerves, and things not just going the way as planned. Day 2 would fix all that. Regardless, TXT still put on an incredible show for both days, singing 25 songs in a span of 2hrs, 45mins.
In this post, I will be talking about my favorite aspects of the concert! It is going to be a long one so brace yourselves! I watched it online from the comfort of my room, but it was so fun that I didn’t even know when 2hrs had gone! I was singing along, bopping my head, screaming and had my jaw hanging in awe from certain moments of the concert! It was that amazing!

• The first thing I want to praise is the concert production and stage direction! Here are some pictures of the stage and it was just so beautiful! The lighting, the stage design, the props, the dancers! Everything was so well done and it made the concert an even magical experience.
  
• The Second thing I want to praise is the set-list! Whomever you are that organized this set list, you deserve all the good things in life! From the VCRs, the performances, to the talking segments, everything was so meticulously arranged and the songs flowed so well from one another! Like what do you mean we had “New Rules remix-Loser lover-Ghosting-Thursday’s child” in one segment? Or that we got “The Killa-Back for more (TXT ver)-Tinnitus Dance break ver” in another segment? Or “PUMA-GBGB-Growing Pain” in another? Like, how insane is that???? All the songs were so well arranged and they flowed smootly! I also loved the sprinkle of slower songs or songs with lesser choreo such as Dreamer, Trust fund baby or magic island, which gave the members some time to catch their breath or regain their energy!
  
• The third thing I want to praise is the song selection! It was a perfect mixed of old songs, new songs and fan favorites. But oh well, the issue with groups like TXT who suffer from the “I have an insane discography syndrome” is that even though the set-list is perfect, you look further and realize that some beloved songs like Blue hour, opening sequence, CTJLTMA, Moa diary, 20cm and so many others are not there! Notwithstanding, the set-list is still amazing!
  
• The fourth thing I want to gush about are the performances! Like😭🤧, they performed ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ Korean traditional version. The performance is apparently called “Buchaechum” and it is a Korean traditional fan dance. This remix had me in awe cos it was so beautiful! Their styling with the Hanboks, the fans, the dancers! Everything was just amazing! No one ever imagined that they would perform it in this way and it was genuinely so beautiful! Also, they sang the first part of ‘Farewell, Neverland” with a new choreo (they usually sang this part standing and dance to only the chorus). They gave a new arrangement to “New Rules” and it was so high energy and fun! We got new performances of Quarter life, The Killa🔥, Dreamer, Deep down 😭😭😭(Atp, my heart was so full and I was genuinely close to tears cos I love ‘Deep down’ so much! It is my fav song from Freefall album and among my top 5 TXT songs in general) and GROWING PAIN!!!😭❤️🔥 The wait for this song was so worth it! They brought on the angst, object smashing, head banging, shouting, energy and everything was absolutely phenomenal!
  

They also performed songs that had not been performed at concerts before, such as such as, TCHFTG OT5 ver, Puma (where they had people shooting dart from above), Magic Island (the stage design was so beautiful), Miracle, Back for more, Chasing that feeling and so many others!
My post is already getting too long so I’ll just round up by pointing out my absolute favorite part of the concert, TXT themselves! Like wow, they absolutely know how to put on a show, they delivered with the live singing, gave their all in the choreos, utilized the backtracks when necessary and brought 1000% energy to the stage! They interacted with the crowd a lot both during their performance ans talking segments, They were just so amazing! MOAs also did really well as they sang along, did the fanchants and cheered so well for the members.
TXT had previously mentioned how they did not have enough time to prepare for the concert as they juggled it with their comeback promos and Soobin had to squat to catch his breath on both days (when I catch you Bighit!😡). Despite that, they still did amazingly well and I really hope they get some days to rest and be in good health before they travel. I also hope I get the opportunity to see them live someday!
Overall, it was an incredible performance, Huge shout-out to all the staff that worked toward making this show an amazing and i hope that this marks the beginning of an incredible, safe, and happy tour season for TXT!
Also, fun fact, with the inclusion of the new performances from this tour, TXT has now performed every song in their discography except for their OSTs. Isn’t that so cool???

• Dreamer (The Name Chapter: Freefall) I love how Dreamer captures the feeling of actually being in a dream. The gentle flow of the lyrics in tune with the equally dreamy music feels like magic. I fight sleep whenever I listen to this song. Definitely my favorite one in this album!
• Blue Hour (minisode 1: Blue Hour) Just as the song suggests, a pocket of time amidst a gloomy day, an hour radiating joy and laughter, music and happiness while it lasts, feels so nostalgic and wistful. I love how the entire aesthetic of the song, from the MV to the lyrics coveys this theme.
• Deja Vu (minisode 3: Tomorrow) One of my favorite title tracks! The message of remembering the promise once made, and reuniting with long lost relationships strikes home to me. I have friends I treasure the most in my life, and losing them would mean the end of the world to me. It's a gentle reminder to treasure your loved ones and to never forget the promise made to always stay together. I loved the concept of this album from the get-go, and the Concept Trailer especially stole my heart and won't give it back. The Little Prince was my favorite fairy tale, and seeing a TXT concept built on that was the ultimate gift for me. I could go talking about this for hours, but that's it for now.

2.5. DITTHUPĀDĀNA

Ditthi upādāna - clinging to a speculative/wrong view due to the lack of proper consideration/mindset (yoniso manasikara).

According to the Brahmajula Sutta of the Dīgha Nikāya, in the 6th century B.C in India there were 62 wrong views. All the 62 can be philosophically grouped into two. They are annihilationism and eternalism - (Ucchedavada and Sassatavada) [THE CONCEPT OF UPĀDĀNA AND ANUPĀDĀNA IN EARLY BUDDHISM (R Punna)]

Theravada (as Vibhajjavāda) here rejects Ditthi upādāna.

2.5.1. Attavadupādāna

Ucchedavada and Sassatavada are based on attavada or attavadupādāna (attachment to the soul or self), not in line with the Ariya Sacca (the Noble Truth). Attavadupādāna is based on sakkaya ditthi, which is instinctive; everyone is born with it.

Sakkaya (Sa or Santo, that means which really exists, and Kaya, aggregate) means the five aggregates which really exist. Ditthi means 'view'. These two words constitute Sakkaya Ditthi... Sakkaya Ditthi is the breeding and the birth place of the sixty two kinds of Ditthi.

• Sakkaya ditthi means clinging to nama and rupa as I am—i.e. this body is me, mine. That is to say clinging to impermanent things, which will soon no longer exist, is a painful mistake.

The Buddha gave a detailed analysis of these wrong views asserted in sixty-two ways and pointed out that these views had their origin in feeling which arose as a result of repeated contact through the six sense bases. Whatever person holds these wrong views, in him feeling gives rise to craving; craving gives rise to clinging, clinging gives rise to existence; the kammic causal process in existence gives rise to rebirth, and rebirth gives rise to ageing, death, grief, lamentation, pain, distress and despair. • Vedana (expecially pain) makes us to cling to our bodies and fearful of pain, death, aging, and disease.
• Contemplating and witnessing the nature of anicca (impermanence) regularly for a long time can cut off this clinging.
• We must regard nama as nama and rupa as rupa, not me or mine.

One who has sakkāya ditthi views the body as I am — this body is me.

Upadana leads to attavadupadanam/attavādūpādānaṃ (Soul-theory). Attavadupadanam can also be understood as sakkaya ditthi (regarding the nama-rupa complex as I am).

1. Sakkaya-ditthi - sati + kaye + ditthi, literally, view when a group exists. Here kaya refers to the five Aggregates of matter, feeling, perception, mental states, and consciousness, or, in other words, to the complex-compound of mind and matter. The view that there is one unchanging entity, a permanent soul, when there is a complex-compound of psycho physical aggregates is termed sakkaya-ditthi. Dhammasangani enumerates twenty kinds of such soul theories (see Dhammasangani Translation, pp. 257-259). Sakkaya-ditthi is usually rendered by self-illusion, theory of individuality, illusion of individualism.

2.5.2. UPĀDĀNA (Birth Determinant)

Upādāna (attachment/clinging) is the opposite of anupādāna (detachment).

4 kinds of clinging are: sensuous clinging (kāmupādāna), clinging to views (diṭṭhupādāna), clinging to mere rules and ritual (sīlabbatupādāna), clinging to the personaljty-belief (atta-vādupādāna).

Upādāna (clinging) occurs as the mind clings to perceived reality: man, cat, dog, car, a woman's voice, a cat's meow, the taste of meat, the smell of a flower, etc. Upādāna occurs as a belief in perceived reality as real and permanent (unchanging). Why do we believe a man is a man, a cat is a cat, a car is a car, a woman's voice is a woman's voice, a meow is a meow, etc? We do so because we instinctively believe they are real and stable. Why do we believe something exists and is real?
A cat is only a perceived reality. The reality (paramattha) is there is no cat but a nāma-rupa complex.
The process of perceiving, believing and clinging is so short. There is no natural resistance against this process. Thus, the Buddha advised the bhikkhus to develop indriya samvara sila.

As a result, one is able to comprehend the true reality of the sense objects without reacting to them with greed or aversion resulting in wholesome thoughts and actions.

• Perceived reality (wrong concepts and ideas) is a wrong view.
• Clinging to perceived reality (wrong views) leads to wrong actions.

Avijja-paccaya saṅkhārā (Dependent on ignorance, reaction (conditioning) arises).

We act according to our instincts. Upādāna is instinctive. We cling to something with love or hatred. Upadana is deeper than memory. It is a part of Paticcasamuppada: Anuloma (forward order). It determines the future form/birth:

vedana-paccaya tanha; Dependent on sensation craving and aversion arise ;

To know a cat as a cat means clinging, and clinging means to be reborn as a cat.
'Know a dog as a dog' means to be reborn as a dog.
'Know a hen as a hen' means to be reborn as a hen.
'Know a fish as a fish' means to be reborn as a fish.
We cannot be reborn as a car, a house, a boat or a tree; however, we can be reborn as something that can cling to that car, that house, that boat, that tree, etc. Whatever being (a bitch, for example) is living in that car, that house, that boat, that tree, etc., can become one's mother.
Venerable Mahasi Sayadaw explains thus,

for having pleasurable attachment to his properties with greed, when he died, he was conceived in the womb of a bitch at his own house. The bitch gave birth to an infant dog in about one and a half or two months time. [Subha's father, Todeyya, was reborn as a dog]

If no animal is there to become a mother, then there will be a ghost (peta) to haunt a property or an item. Some stories are collected in Vimānavatthu and Petavatthu. (Vimānavatthu and Petavatthu)
To see something as mere nāma and rupa can correct the view. Why don't we see nama and rupa but cat, dog, man, car, alcohol, etc.? When we hear a sound, why do we know it's a cat, a car, a dog, a person, etc.? When we smell something, why do we know it is a flower, perfume, fresh air, etc.?
Because we memorised them and because our instinct is to perceive and memorise them that way.
The wrong view leads to clinging. Clinging means one is flowing with the current. The process of cutting off attachment is to let go, and that is also to go against one's true nature or instinct. That is not the nature mentioned in the Bloodstream Sermon — "The one who knows his nature is a buddha."
'To let go of something' means to have appropriate mindset (yoniso manasikara).

2.5.3. Yonisomanasikāra

yonisomanasikāra : [m.] proper consideration. Yoniso Manasikara (PropeWise Attention)

Yonisomanasikāra could be translated as 'appropriate mindset', with which one could reflect appropriately anything in any situation. Mindset (Vocabulary.com):

a habitual or characteristic mental attitude that determines how you will interpret and respond to situations.

Body postures are more general than attending to a particular action or perception. But having a “body there” is even more general than the postures. Because to be walking, sitting, standing or lying down, one needs to have a body in the first place. That’s why one can also use the knowledge of “there is body”, as the peripheral anchor for one’s daily actions and experiences.

2.5.4. Samyojanna (Fetters)

Self identification view. The view that mistakenly identifies any of the khandha as "self"; the first of the ten fetters (samyojana). Abandonment of sakkaya ditthi is one of the hallmarks of stream entry (see sotapanna).

Mogok Sayadaw advised that before meditating, one should remove five (1-5) samyojanna and establish Right View.

(1) personality-belief (sakkāya-ditthi)

• Rāga and tanhā are the same.

2.5.5. Ten kilesās:

1. False views (sakayaditthi)
2. Doubt (vicikiccha)
3. Belief in the effectiveness of rituals
4. Sensuous pleasure (raga)
5. Aversion (dosa)
6. Passion towards rupa jhanas (pertaining to the sphere of forms)
7. Passion towards arupa jhanas (pertaining to the formless sphere)
8. Self pride (mana)
9. restlessness and worries (uddhacca)
10. Ignorance (avijja)

• Kilesā are saṅkhārā.
• One must suppress these kilesā, especially during mediation.

2.5.6. Saṅkhārā: Vaci (verbal), Mano (mental) and Kaya (physical).

Sila and Indriyasamvāra Sila support the Samādhi.
Sammā Samādhi supports the mind to anchore on the vipassanā object and prevent the saṅkhārā.
Samādhi: focus,
Knowing the state/nature of the body and mind (nāma-rupa) is pannā—yathā bhuta nāna dassana.

2.5.7. vedana-paccaya tanha

Vedana occurs at the physical and mental sense organs:

• Kāyika vedanā (bodily feeling) are five kinds.
• Cetasika vedanā (mental feeling) are 52 kinds.

Five Kinds Of Vedana

• sukhindriya (pleasure)
• dukkhindriya (pain)
• somanassindriya (mental joy)
• domanassindriya (mental grief)
• upekkhindriya (equanimity)

Five Kāyika Vedana (Bodily Feeling)

Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching occur at the panca kamaguna (five sense elements): eye, ear, nose, tongue and body.

2.5.8. The 52 Cetasikas:

[Mental Factors or Mental Properties (= Cetasika): Mental Factors in group (page 5-7):]

• 13 ‘Aññasamāna’ Cetasikas (common with the other)
  • Common with Kusala Cittas, Akusala Cittas, Vipāka Cittas or Kiriya Cittas
  • “ethically variable”
• 14 Akusala Cetasikas (unwholesome)
• 25 Sobhana Cetasikas (beautiful mental factors)

[Nārada Thera:] No sobhanas - (beautiful) occur in an immoral consciousness.

Aññasamāna Cetasikas are two types:

Whereas in the Suttas all phenomena of existence are summed up under the aspect of 5 groups:

• corporeality,
• feeling,
• perception,
• mental formations,
• consciousness (s. khandha),

The Abhidhamma as a rule treats them under the more philosophical 3 aspects:

• consciousness,
• mental factors and
• corporeality (citta, cetasika, rūpa).

Cetasika or mental factor, is another type of Dhamma which arises together with citta, experiences the same object as citta, falls away together with citta and arises at the same base as citta. Cetasikas have each their own characteristic and perform each their own function. There are 52 types of cetasikas in all.

cetasika : [adj.] mental; (nt.), a mental property.

The four realties are citta, cetasika, rupa, Nibāna.
Due to ignorance (heedlessness, lacking sati/mindfulness), vedanā (sensation) can lead to saṅkhārā (thought, speech, body movement). During meditation, thought and body movement are disruption and considered as kilesa.

kilesa : [m.] passion; lust; depravity; impurity.

Vedana → Saṅkhārā → Taṇhā → Upādāna

tanha-paccaya upadanam;

Upādāna: (One is) clinging to saṅkhārā with the force of Taṇhā.
The strength of taṇhā is essential for upādāna.

2.6. Swimming Against the Current

One can be re-born in the deva world due to some past good deeds (kamma) but once the force of the good kamma is exhausted there will be the descending journey which could even be to the very bottom of the plains of existence

Dhammapada - Verse 218.)

In that person a deep yearning for the undefined Nibbána has arisen. He has already touched it mentally. He is called a swimmer against the current-an upstream bound person. He has already started the process towards Nibbána.

2.6.1. Samatha-vipassanā:

MOGOK SAYADAW'S WAY TO THE VIPASSANA PRACTICE:
Venerable Mogok Sayadaw, in a lecture: အပါယ်လေးပါးတခါးပိတ်တဲ့အမြင်, explained about who was born in the past and who will be born in the future lives. He said nama rupa (Mind-body-complex) lived and died in the past lives. Nama rupa also live the current life. Only nama and rupa will be reborn to live and die in the future lives before reaching the Nibbána. Samsara is the birth and death of rupa and nama recurring.
The Nama-rupa process is not somebody or a being. The past body is not me, not my life. The current body is not me, not my life, either. If there is the future body, regarding it as 'me', 'my body', 'my life' is unwise.
That lecture related to the Three Parinnas:

1. You must recognise and differentiate between mind [nama] and matter [rupa] in the present sensation that develops. This is called Nataparinana.
2. You must recognise and realise the impermanence, suffering and impersonal qualities (Anissa, Dukkha and Anatta) of the present sensation. This is called Tiranaparinana.
3. You must realise that the present sensation is neither your body, nor your mind and try to avoid clinging (Tanha) and self-conceit (Mana) and delusion or wrong view of regarding consciousness as your soul (Ditthi). This is called Pahanaparinana.

2.6.2. The Three Parinnas

Also in The Vipassana Dipani (The Manual of Insight), Mahathera Ledi Sayadaw explains the Three Parinnas in details. However, they are large and complex subjects. Reading alone could not be enough to understand them.
Quotes from Mahathera Ledi Sayadaw's book:
Parinna means profound knowledge.

1. Nata-parinna, Autological knowledge.
2. Tirana-parinna, Analytical knowledge.
3. Pahana-parinna, Dispelling knowledge.

Nata-parinna:
a profound and accurate discernment of mental and material phenomena with all their proximate causes, and also of Nibbána, as shown in the previous sections on the Truths and the Causes.
Tirana-parinna:

1. Anicca-parinna: a perfect or a qualified knowledge of the law of death (marana). Here by death is meant the two kinds of the same, conventional death (sammutimarana) and the ultimate death (paramatthamarana).
2. Dukkha-parinna: a perfect or a qualified knowledge of the intrinsic characteristic Ill or infelicity. Here Ill is of two kinds:
   1. Vedayita-dukkha (Pain-feeling ill): bodily and mental pains
   2. Bhayattha-dukkha (Fear producing ill): Bhaya-nana (knowledge of things as fearful), and of the Adinavanana (knowledge of things as dangerous)
3. Anattá-parinna: the perfect or the qualified knowledge of things mental and material as possessing the characteristic of No-soul." By this knowledge of things as no soul [no atta], the Anatta-nanna, all the mental and material phenomena that belong to the ultimate truths are discerned as having no soul.

Pahana-parinna:
the perfect or the qualified knowledge that dispels hallucinations. It dispels the three Nicca-vippallasas by means of the insight acquired through the contemplation of Impermanence, the three Sukha-vipallasas and the three Subha-vippallasas, by means of the insight acquired through the contemplation of Ill, and the three Atta-vippallasas by means of the insight acquired through the contemplation of No-soul.

2.6.3. Nibbāna Is Near; Not Far Away: Sammary

Nibbāna is a natural phenomenon (Sabhāva Dhamma). Atthi Bhikkhave Nibbānaṃ – Monks! Nibbāna exists. In the Saṁyutta the Buddha said: Nibbānass'eva santike – Nibbāna is not far away, very near (SN.1.46/ (6). Accharāsuttaṃ).
There are trains from good rebirth to good rebirth (sugati to sugati), good rebirth to bad rebirth (sugati to dugati), and good rebirth to Nibbāna. Except the Paccekabuddhas, the world naturally takes the two trains as it can know Nibbāna only with the help of a Sammasambuddha.
The Buddha taught to Rohitassa Devaputta to look for Nibbāna at 2-armed-lengths body (AN.4.45 Rohitassasuttaṃ). One cannot see Nibbāna before penetrating kilesa (mental defilements). Nibbāna, the asaṅkhata dhàtu is the end of the saṅkhata dhàtu. So Rohitassa Devaputta contemplated this 2-armed-lengths body back and forth and saw the inconstancy and disenchantment of it. One who sees the inconstancy and disenchantment of this 2-armed-lengths body can make a firm decision as it's truly dukkha sacca. That way one can come to an end of asaṅkhata dhàtu.
If you win kilesa, you will find dukkha. By penetration of dukkha and then Dukkhasa antaṃ karissati – at the ending of dukkha, you will realise Nibbāna.

2.6.4. Maha-Rahulovada Sutta: The Greater Exhortation to Rahula

In the Maha-Rahulovada Sutta, the Buddha gives a method of focusing on the four mahabhutas.

"Rahula, any form whatsoever that is past, future, or present; internal or external; blatant or subtle; common or sublime; far or near: every form is to be seen as it actually is with right discernment as: 'This is not mine. This is not my self. This is not what I am.'"

• The Buddha advised Venerable Rahula to establish Right View on the four internal elements (solid, liquid, gas, heat).
  • This solid is not me, not mine.
  • This liquid is not me, not mine.
  • This air is not me, not mine.
  • This heat is not me, not mine.

2.6.5. Mūlapariyāya Suttaṁ The Root of All Things

The Mūlapariyāya Suttaṁ explains how to develop Right View on the four rupa elements.

The ordinary person

2.6.6. Satipatthana:

In walking meditation, as a way of kayagatasati, a yogi can know the start and the end of a step. When doing other actions, the yogi notes the start and end of these actions. A yogi can focus on the start and the end, just these two, as the meditation object. The yogi will be aware that the start followed by the end.
In anapanasati meditation, the yogi focuses on the breath in and out and the start and the end of the breath — to understand death (marana) and the momentariness of existence. Someone new to this practice can focus on the area the in and out air touching. As breathing naturally and fully, one can remain mindful for a long time. One can know the breath, as it can be fast, steady or slow. One will naturally become aware of the start and the end of each breath.
In anapanasati meditation, some focus on the breath (air) moving along the windpipe, and some on the abdomen inflating and deflating.
One can also contemplate on marana (death/impermanence) as Dhamma-satipatthana. This body is impermanent; it will be thorwn away one day. This body is not me; it goes its own way.
In the vedanā-satipatthana training, the goal is sannāvedāyita nirodha.

[PATICCASAMUPPADA] Through deep insight, the Buddha discovered that the crucial link is vedana. In the anuloma-paticcasamuppada, he says "vedana-paccaya tanha'' (with the base of sensation, craving and aversion arise). Vedana is the cause of tanha, which gives rise to dukkha. In order to remove the cause of dukkha or tanha; therefore, one must not allow vedana to connect with tanha; in other words, one must practise Vipassana meditation at this juncture so that avijja becomes vijja or panna (wisdom). One has to observe vedana, to experience and to comprehend the truth of its arising and passing away, i.e., anicca. [...] [MN 28] One who sees paticcasamuppada sees the Dhamma. 2.6.7. Right Effort

• Concentration (samādhi)
  • Right effort (sammā-vāyāma)
  • Right mindfulness (sammā-sati)
  • Right concentration (sammā-samādhi)

Sustaining undisrupted awareness is sammā-vāyāma (Right Effort). Before meditating, one should determine, "I will keep my mind focusing on the breath. I will not let my mind leave it."
Keeping the mind focused on a meditation object is to prevent the saṅkhārā. Preventing the saṅkhārā (and kilesa) is to avoid agitation and pleasure, and to stop Paticcasamuppada in regular (anuloma) motion.

samādhi : [m.] meditation; onepointedness of the mind.

Samadhi: Stilling and straightening the mind to end it from clinging to affection or aversion is to go against nature and swim upstream. A developed mind has strong samadhi and is skilful in avoiding wrong view/thought and emotion (saṅkhārā and kilesa).

Sila, Samādhi, Pannā

Samatha-Vipassana means preventing the active saṅkhārā (mano, vaci, kaya).
One should keep the body and mind stable. Mouth, mind and body must be kept motionless, except the motion of breathing. The mind is stablised by being mindful of breathing.
Mano-saṅkhārā are thoughts (thinking, seeing images, hearing songs, etc.).
Kaya-saṅkhārā are physical activity (movement, changing position, bodily sensations).
Vaci-saṅkhārā are verbal sounds, speech and thought that includes words.
When saṅkhārā appears, one must notice it until it ends.
When an emotion (greed, anger or whatever it is) appears, one must know/notice it; but make sure to witness the end of it.
The goal is to see the end (anicca).
Seeing (noticing) the anicca is panna (insight).
And then one knows there is no longer such thought or emotion.
According to the Theras, the saṅkhārā must be cut off before it becomes upadana. If the end of the saṅkhārā is noticed, it will not become upadana. Then anupadana can be attained by the end of the vedanā if the end is noticed/acknowledged.
Noticing is sati (mindfulness).
Understanding or seeing the cutting off (ending) is panna (insight).

2.7. THE FOUR FACTORS OF A SOTAPANNA

[Quote] The Venerable Mogok Sayadaw in his discourse on Sotapanna given on the 2nd March, 1960, in Upper Burma, explained the four factors of a Sotapanna, quoted from the original Pannaca Pali.

1. A person who has a right view towards the absence of self or personality view, but the aggregation of five corporeal and mental parts in every being.
2. A person freed from any doubt about this view.
3. A person who has a firm and non-wavering decision about this view.
4. A person who comes to know this view not only through external sources but also with his or her own effort to know this view through Vipassana meditation and insight. [End quote]

Upon losing the wrong view of self, a person establishes the right view and voluntarily dispossesses his attachment to others. He gives up claiming 'this is me', 'that is mine'. He becomes a sotapanna.
That is, however, different from a Bodhisattva losing "individualized will-control" (Lanka Chapter 13).
Sariputtatthera Vatthu:

Verse 11: They take untruth for truth; they take truth for untruth; such persons can never arrive at the truth, for they hold wrong views.
