2024.06.07 21:28 chadzelda FPS/UPS Advice Space Exploration Factorio
| Hello Fellow Factorio Friends, TL:DR - Looking for advice to get more FPS/UPS in game. I've been playing Space Exploration with a friend, we have quite a lot of hours I think our current playthrough is 31 days, its been super fun. I've started to notice our fps/ups dropping a bit. It was a solid 50 now its sitting at 28. I was wondering if you all had any advice. It was 10-15fps/uds for a bit but I found the mod being factorioismo2. we re-built all the factories/ imrpoved or removed. we had and swapped over to a the better mod with the name Two-fork in it. I've been looking at other threads and fixes tried some. I found a few errors in my base with Robo-Ports (My friend kind of just spammed them without me knowing so that could be a part of it as some travel very far) I am currently going about reducing the massive size of them. The outer wall on my wall have roboports but they are not chained together. Also found I should replace the belts with underground and figured I can work on that to see a change later. I've tried some commands like killing all the bugs and changing the graphics. (pic below), I also tried nuking / reseting all the other maps I have such as the Moon base, lava base but found no real change. So far I only have bases on 2-5 planets. Also went back and deleted the surfaces of all planets im not on / using. I only have one rocket going to space, I posted a log down below. train amount a Ball-park 50ish to 200 trains maybe. Most are not moving all the time. I have tested by removing a few mods each time and no mods removed affected the FPS/UPS on my map. Removed things like Miniloaders, Facorioismo, Fluid tanks Mk2 no real change. Below is a list of various attempts I made with removing of mods. Non worked though. Attempt 001 -Artillery Visibility, Long reach and barrel stack size. ---28 frames No Change. Attempt 002: Removed: MiniLoaders. 22k minicorders removed, ---28-30 frames No Change. Attempt 003: Removed: Bobs functions, greenhouse, factorissmo mod 2, display plates. ---30.2 frames. No Changes. Attempt 004: Removed More UPS. FPS, Long range radars. 224 radars, ---30.2 frames. No Changes. Attempt 005: Stargates, storage tank Mk2 3120 tanks removed - ---28 frames No Change. PC specs - 11th gen intel R i9-11900F 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz 64 gb ram (63 usable ( Factorio is on my D-drive with 300gb left on it and steam. ) NVIDA Geforce RTX 3080. Over all main base on Nauvis. Base map but with Roboports. Belt example Pollution. Show Entity Time Usage. GPU-time-usage All Current Mods. Time Usage current graphics. Main Copper and Metal belts Inside one of the large ones. inside the next layer. Rocket log I think its only a few rockets going between space station. *I did noticed a rocket that had a logic error having it send without cargo, I fixed that after posting this.* submitted by chadzelda to factorio [link] [comments] |
2024.06.07 21:10 For2ANJ FAQ #119 SAFE STORAGE Does New Jersey have a safe storage law? What are the New Jersey Laws around firearm storage in the home?
Q: Does New Jersey have a safe storage law? What are the New Jersey Laws around firearm storage in the home?
A: NO, New Jersey has no law that requires unattended firearms to be stored in a certain way. They can be loaded or unloaded when stored.
Additional Info:
CHILD ACCESS PREVENTION New Jersey provides that “[a] person who knows or reasonably should know that a minor [under 16 years of age] is likely to gain access to a loaded firearm at a premises under the person’s control” is criminally liable for a misdemeanor if a minor gains access to a firearm, unless the person:
- Stores the firearm in a securely locked box or container;
- Stores the firearm in a location which a reasonable person would believe to be secure; or
- Secures the firearm with a trigger lock.
This section does not apply to activities concerning the lawful use of a firearm by a minor (see the section entitled
Minimum Age to Purchase & Possess in New Jersey), or where a minor obtained a firearm as a result of an unlawful entry by any person.
New Jersey requires firearm dealers to give all firearm transferees the following written warning, printed in block letters not less than one-fourth of an inch in height: “IT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE, PUNISHABLE BY A FINE AND IMPRISONMENT, FOR AN ADULT TO LEAVE A LOADED FIREARM WITHIN EASY ACCESS OF A MINOR.” Dealers also must post a truncated version of this warning “conspicuously” at each purchase counter, printed in block letters not less than one inch in height.
New Jersey imposes harsh penalties, including a mandatory minimum prison term of three years without parole, on any person who knowingly sells, gives, transfers, assigns or otherwise disposes of a firearm to a person under age 18.
TRIGGER LOCKS In New Jersey, retail firearms dealers must include a trigger lock or a locked case, gun box, container or other secure facility with every handgun sold.

2024.06.07 20:59 SoySauceJesus What is this cylindrical brass container with internal basket and exterior valve?
| This brass container came in a purpose-built wooden box with mostly illegible text. The best I can make out is “Serv Co 113th M” and I’ve got nothing on the rest. The container itself is about 13 inches tall and 7 inches in diameter. It has an internal “basket” that can be removed, and a screw off “valve” on top. Its lid serves as a carrying handle, and when twisted, comes off as well. This was found in an old marine science lab storage building in the northeast US…Unsure if this is related or not! submitted by SoySauceJesus to whatisthisthing [link] [comments] |

Quick Note: added Necrom Section. also note this time it is 12 days, not usual 7 :) Activation: ingame Crown Store -> ESO Plus tab → click “Free Trial!”.

Despite declaring the “Lost in the Woods” emote being granted for just visiting Bal Sunnar or Scrivener's Hall, actually it is rewarded on completing BOTH dungeons on Normal difficulty (relevant discussion:
https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/629124/official-discussion-thread-scribes-of-fate-update-37-now-live-on-pc-mac ) Entry points: Bal Sunnar – Stonefalls & Scrivener's - Hall The Rift. - Scions of Ithelia - Bascially, nothing. Completing both Oathsworn Pit and Bedlam Veil in Normal yeilds you only 10 Achievement points, nothing more.
Game-maps.com has ESO+ group dungeons color-coded on the Tamriel map:
https://game-maps.com/ESO/Tamriel-ESO-World-Map.asp
Zone DLC:
- Orsinium: Pet: Echalette -- Enter Orsinium capital city (also: quests for Orzorga provisioning recipes, get Briarheart dagger quest reward for your StickerBook) - Thieves Guild: Pet: Jackal -- Enter Abah's Landing. Unlock TG skill line (also grants Thieves Guild Leathers costume) - Dark Brotherhood: Personality: Assassin -- Enter Gold Coast zone. Unlock DB skill line (the second quest in DB story unlocks the Shrouded Armor costume) - Clockwork City: Pet: Scintillant Dovah-Fly -- Enter the Brass Fortress (also do quests for provisioning recipes, the later are bound, so it worths the efforts). Collecting Precursor dummy fragments is up to you as it is quite time consuming and the dummy itself has too low HP. - Murkmire: Pet: Verdigris Haj Mota -- Enter Lilmoth (quest Death Among the Dead-Water rewards with a Fire Rock memento) - Dragonhold: Outfit Style: Topal Corsair Hat -- Enter Southern Elsweyr (questing unlocks other pages). Questing unlocks Mask of Alkosh hat and The Za’ji’s Dragonguard Uniform costume - Markarth: Outfit Style: Arkthzand Anfractuosity Shroud -- Enter The Reach (questing grants head and body markings, and Witchwise Headdress hat collectible) - The Deadlands – Oblivion Explorer’s Headwrap - Enter Fargrave for the first time (its’ wayshrine is unlocked) - Firesong- Firesong Obsidian Mask – Enter Galen
- Summerset: nothing immediate. fish in Artaeum for bound provisioning recipes (otherwise they are obtainable by purchasing Waterlogged Psijic Satchels, which is an expensive lottery), unlock Psijic skill line (progressing it also unlocks buying bound furnishing recipes at the Artaeum trader). Also one of three Antiquities leads for Music Box “In Dreams and Memories” drops in Summerset. And fast to obtain “Alinor Allemande” dance emote from the Antiquity lead.
- Elsweyr: nothing immediate. (Despite parts of Peryite Skeevemaster costume drop in Orcrest public dungeon, parts of a Grisly Mummy Tabby pet drop in Rimmen Necropolis all these are not bound and may be purchased from Guild Traders any time), zone quest unlocks Hall of the Lunar Champion housing (a free manor sized house!!), and Dragonslayer Style head & shoulders outfit styles. Three wings of the Hall of the Lunar Champion manor are unlocked by completing 1) Elsweyr story, 2) Dragonhold story, 3) completing both Lair of Maarselok and Moongrave Fane on normal difficulty. Also completing Sunspire Trial on normal unlocks purchases of the beautiful Akatosh Chancel doors (furnishing for housings) for 100K gold from Achievement furnisher in Rimmen.
- Greymoor - nothing immediate, but Antiquities are numerous.. It takes like 6 ..7 hours to level up Scrying and Excavation up to level 7 to be able to get mythics (faster moving speed is preferable – get crafted Adept Rider set or Coward's Gear set). I did it on 3 characters and stayed at Artaeum doing first greens, then cycling between greens and blues till a purple lead (one time per location) at level 5 scrying (normally 3..4 hours depending on how fast you do move). Then i preferred to stay at Artaeum for approx 3 more hours repeating green-blue cycles to get level 7 (the alternative is to go Green-Blue-Purple in the base game zones & Artaeum (purple part is non-repeatable on account) to unlock the 100,000 gold Al-Esh Ascension Coin lead, but you have to unlock Eyevea (by completing Mages Guild questline) and get 10 in scrying to dig for this gold), and, basically, as other zones are bigger and you would most likely have to kill mobs on your way – this method of skill line progression would take more time then staying in small cosy Artaeum. Well.. this is up to you to decide.
Alcast has a good & comprehensive Antiquties guide:
https://alcasthq.com/eso-antiquities-system-guide-greymoor-chapte His guide also includes a link to the levelling guide, where author recommends green-blue-purple method. ESO Hub has good information about Mythics and theirs leads
https://eso-hub.com/en/sets/category/mythic Friendly reminder: Mythics are reconstructable at any time (and theirs level is fixed CP160), but not deconstructable.
There are some cosmetic Antiquities items
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Antiquity_Leads#Cosmetics_and_Outfit_Styles Also pick up the Alinor Allemande emote (Summerset), and, maybe Aldmeri Symphonia music box. Also get fancy crafting stations: Anvil of Old Orsinium, Druidic Provisioning Station, Daedric Enchanting Station, and the Shipbuilder's Woodworking Station. The Ebon Dwarven Wolf mount is 17 parts, so it might take you too much time to get them all in one week, though it is doable, if the random number generator is loyal to you. DisplayLeads addon is awesome and extremely helpful (
https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info2651-DisplayLeads-withLocationInfo.html)
- Blackwood nothing seriously big, but you can get a free Bog Dog pet (Lost in the Wilds quest) and some nice furnishings (including a canoe). Companions are not on the table. To kill your time there is the 15 pieces Blackwood Tapestry antiquity furnishing (check Alcast for the guide if interested). Also Thrafey Debutante Gown is a stylish costume obatined with 50 Scaly Cloth Scraps (tradeable) fragments from the Silent Halls public dungeon.
- High Isle. Again, nothing immediate. Cosmetics include non-combat pet Jerall Rescue Dog acquired during Tales of Tribute questline, non-combat pet Coral Haj Mota: 25 Coral Haj Mota Decoys from the Spire Of The Crimson Coin and 25 Coral Haj Mota Lures from Ghost Haven Bay (these are tedious to get tradeable fragments)
Courtly Traveling Attire costume plus head and body marking you get during the zone story line quest Nighthunter's Cowl hat is one lead Antiquity
- Necrom. Nothing immediate. Long term offers include: Emissaries Enclave - big house, 28 quests 1.5M gold, The Fate Scryer Costume – completing the quest “Chronicle of Fate”, shroom tender style - different style pages unlocked by achievements, new ToT desk – Almalexia. nix-ox steed mount would be hard or, probably impossible to get, I can not tell for sure (please comment on that), Abyssal Cephaliarch’s Face Art – completing the quest “A Hidden Fate”, Body Art – completing the quest “A Calamity of Fate”. Also The Prism of Moribund Sapience – completing the quest “In a Troubled House”. The Meln’s Soul Gem memento – completing the quest “Spirit of Fate”
Necrom Master Angler achievememnt unlocks Shroomtender Shoes style, though i normally do not mention Master Angler achievements for DLC zones, as catching all them rare fishies consumes the enormous amount time and only one other Master Angler achievement rewards directly - becoming the Deadlands Master Angler allows to purhcase a Sulfur Pool achievement furnishing. So them fishing shoes style is for the most reckless of you, daredevils! I don't have that much time to complete that. :
Other Shroomtender style pages are unlocked by doing all deleves, world bosses, quests and other activities in Necrom zones.
Berylglow Nix-Ox Steed mount requires the Savior of Necrom achievement with 5 coditions. The third of these is Complete all 3 Daily Job achievements for Necrom's Stalwart Protector one of three requirements for that is "Complete 30 Bastion Nymic Daily Quests for Ordinator Tandasea in Necrom" (i doubt participating in your friends' shared daily Nymic counts, if you have already completed your own daily Nymic, so, here, in my understanding, is the catch. please, correct me if i am wrong and 30 Nymic (as well as 30 WB and Delves dailies) can be done in a week) link: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Savior_of_Necrom (these 30 Nymic dailies also unlock a Obsidian Dwarven Sphere pet, though, again, i doubt it can be done withing a week)
UESP page with the images of loyalty rewards:
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:DLC_Loyalty_Rewards
What works: - Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Psijic Guild skill lines skill line will persist, allowing looting Thieves Troves and Psijic portals. Blade of Woe still continues to function (Please, keep in mind that is per character! Psijic quest (it is long) unlocking the line (and subsequent ones (long too)) is fun only first 9 times.., after that it starts becoming annoying)
- Housing purchased in DLC zones will persist, on exiting the house you would not enter a DLC zone, but teleport back to the location from which you have teleported to your house
- Furnishings exceeding non-ESO+ limits will stay, but you will not be able to re-add them if accidentally put away
- you would be able to allocate/deallocate Skill Points (with respec or by loading an Armory build) in the TG/DB/Psijic/JC/Scrying/Excavation skills you have already unlocked while progressing these skill lines.
- Antiquities will still allow you to scry from the map (though I am not sure it was intended by Zenimax)
thanks go to
u/LordAsheye for the instructions:
https://www.reddit.com/elderscrollsonline/comments/10kdvem/comment/j5rqmpd/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
What does not work: - Jewelry Crafting skill line still requires Summerset (after ESO+ expires you can not access JC crafting stations if you don't own the DLC), but it makes a lot of sense to research Infused, Bloodthirsty and Swift traits for reconstructing stickerbook jewelry (thanks
Kelinmiriel for this tip) as at any time you can buy the Transmute Station or visit your friends houses/guildhalls where the said station has been already deployed.
- You would not be able to further progress DB, TG and Psijic skill lines (if not maxed them) after free ESO+ trial ends.
- You can not play Tales of Trubute (if you have no access to High Isle) after trial end
- Companions of Blackwood and High Isle are decoupled from the zone for ESO+ Free trials (but, of course, work for the real subscriptions), Companions of Necrom are not accessible, because Necrom is the latest Chapter, which is not unlocked with ESO+ (trial or regular)
OTHER EASY THINGS to do:
- re-log with each character to make materials they carry to go into the Crafting Bag (after event it will turn into "extract-only" mode)
- unlock TG, DB and Psijic skill lines for each of your characters (looting a thieves trove is enough to unlock the TG line, so if you are lucky to spot the thing that saves a trip to Hew's Bane)
- collect skyshards, lorebooks, unlock exploration and questing dyes and achievements, check achievement furnishers (as they offer quite a lot of inexpensive and nice furnishings)
(LovelyNorth has an excellent achievement furnishers visual guide:
http://lovelynorth.com/achievementfurnishings/)
- dye your costumes (this is done per character, so the same costume may be dyed differently on different characters)
- dye your Companions costumes (if you have Blackwood or High Isle or Necrom and unlocked them Companions)
- refine your raw materials, preferably on a character with the best refining passives and Meticulous Disassembly green CP star slotted
- if you do crafting dailies, then pack your CraftBag with everything. I’d suggest depositing a LOT of style stones (basic ones are 15g each at vendors located near crafting stations), potency runes (again, vendors), Ta runes, Mudcrab Chitin and Violet Coprinus. If you craft furnishings stock up with furnishing materials as well.
- pack your houses with 2x storage (utilize 2x furnishing limits at houses of any size)
- do the treasure maps (might be purchased at the Guild Traders) pointing to otherwise restricted zones
- if you decided to train Antiquities, then acquire new and do the existing leads in the unlocked DLC zones (if you decide to max up Antiquities skill lines (for the Ultimate difficulty furnishing leads) - the easy way to get level 7 lead (Void-Crystal Anomaly furnishing) is to harvest nodes in Coldharbour, as it drops surprisingly often there from resource nodes)
- attune your crafting stations to Order's Wrath (High Isle), Law of Julianos (Wrothgar) , New Moon Acolyte (Southern Elsweyr) (also: Clever Alchemist, Wretched Vitality, Mechanical Acuity (CWC), Coldharbor Favorite, Stuhn's Favor, Heartland Conqueror, and Ancient Dragonguard are quite good options too (imho), but that is you, who decides on that matter and most of the GuildHalls normally have them crafting stations).
- it is worth mentioning you can open your geodes to use doubled (1000) transmute crystal limit (though after the event you would not be able to add new crystals unless you consume the existing ones to make theirs number to drop below the “normal” 500 limit)
- purchasing alchemy ingredients to pack your CraftBag with is up to you (this may help to level up new characters uber-fast using batches of pre-crafted Master Achemy Writs), as well as buying uncommon style materials (for future gear crafting Master Writs). However, for both of these purposes I’d suggest just to subscribe to ESO+.
TIME-CONSUMING ACTIVITIES:
- collect Bound-On-Pickup group dungeons DLC gear for the collections book (unbound may be bought)
- quests and dungeons for rewards, achievements and collectibles (like Elsweyr free housing or Elsweyr+Dragonhold Epilogue free flying pet, undaunted trophies.. Pirharri the Smuggler assistant, etc etc..)
- doing DLC dungeons for bound gear, skillpoints, achievements (including skins for achievements in veteran DLC dungeons), motif pages drops and trophies
- if you are for good DPS sets: on normal Falkreath Hold (for Pillar of Nirn) is soloable, just block minotaurs heavy attacks. Frostvault (for Tzogvin's Warband) is soloable too, just get tanky to kill the troll. And you don’t need 60+ runs as you get armor pieces rather quick so you can reconstruct them later (for 50..60 crystals, not 25, but, anyway..). Weapons require more runs, though..
- doing DLC trials with friends for skins, gear and achievement. UESP:
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Trials - Zones story quests reward with skillpoints (especially smaller zones: CWC -8, Murkmire – 7, Southern Elsweyr – 6+3, Markarth – 6+3, The Deadlands – 6+3, Firesong – 6+3 (6+3 means 6 from smaller zone DLC plus 3 from epilogue quests completing one year arc (if the appropriate big zone DLC story line completed))). (Thanks to
u/RadioRy for this recommendation) Also: warning: it takes only several hours for these storylines if you rush the dialogues, however – rushing is not recommended if you are for stories or RP.
- do public dungeons group events in Summerset Isles, Northern Elsweyr, Greymoor, Blackwood, High Isle and Wrothgar for the skill points (Atoll of Immolation is, technically, a public dungeon too, but does not reward you with a skillpoint. Enter it from The Deadlands, not from Blackwood)
Game-Maps.com has the excellent public dungeons maps
https://game-maps.com/ESO/ESO-Public-Dungeon.asp On PC use the Urich's Skill Point Finder addon to check your quests, skyshards and dungeons skillpoints
https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1863-UrichsSkillPointFinder.html
- check UESP full list of mementos:
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Mementos (“DLC and Chapters” is a sepatare section), maybe you would like to unlock some
- completing skill lines (DB, TG, Psijic)
- complete maps (do world bosses if you please)
- complete fishing Achievements
- do DLC dungeons with friends on veteran difficulty for skins, costumes, titles and other nice rewards
Now some details about fashion for those, who might be interested in that stuff. Skip if not.
Five sections below do not include veteran hard-mode dungeons and trials rewards and achievements, as not 100% of the players do these activities. Let’s talk relatively easy things, OKay?
(Base Game, Morrowind, and Imperial City goodies are not included for the obvious reason – no connection with ESO+, though Shadowfen skeleton or Vvardenfell Scarlett Judge costume are mentioned in the comments each and every time). Dyes are too numerous, so I decided not to overload this document. Check UESP for dyes, please.
I also skipped titles, mementos and emotes to keep this text reasonably compact.

FURNISHING PLANS
(though I would not recommend this because of cooldowns and limited time of the Event, but this is still a good clean family entertainment to diversify your activities. Wrothgar: loot Old Orsinium; CWC: steal in Brass Fortress Basilica; Summerset loot Shimmerene Monastery; Murkmire: steal in Lilmoth and Bright-Throat Village; Northern Elsweyr: loot Rimmen Royal Palace (Dragonhold added no new furnishing plans); Greymoor: loot Nchuthnkarst; Markarth: loot Bthar-Zel (unlocked during the zone quest); Blackwood: steal in Leaywiin Castle; The Deadlands: steal in The Bearer’s Rest in Fargrave, High Isle: loot Castle Navire, Galen: steal in Maltheo Rouillac's House in Vastyr). Necrom loot in Sailenmora Crypts (you have to start the "a thif to catch a thief" quest, but NOT finish it, otherwise you lose access to this place (very juicy from the start, now seriously nerfed))
Swap characters after blue or purple plan drop (the cooldown for blues is one hour per character). I would also suggest to swap characters after you start getting white furnishing plans. Slot “Homemaker” green CP star.
OTHER LONG-TERM ACTIVITIES:
- doing Museum quests for unique furnishing items and costumes (
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Museums )
- farming bound collectibles fragments in public dungeons (
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Fragments)
- digging mythics and other antiquities (wolfie mount, music box, dance emote, face and body markings, cosmetics, and fancy furnishings, as there are many great-looking Antiquities furnishings)
- do the surveys and refine as much as you can to stock up your CraftBag (ideally to hold up till the next ESO+ free event)
-
DO THE SOLO ARENAS: the Maelstrom Arena weapons are still great, also the Vateshran Hollows weapons are good and achievements (unlocking skin and dyes may be done on a veteran difficulty).
BlackRose Prison weapons are also good, but you would prefer to go with friend(s), as this group arena is noticeably harder than the soloable nDSA.
(reminder: Curated drops in Arenas work only on the final chest)
Completing veteran MA unlocks Maelstrom Baron polymorph, completing veteran VH unlocks Void Pathosis skin.
TIP: Set up your priorities!
As there are a LOT of things to be done and time is the essence, I’d suggest getting instant freebies first (it takes less than an hour) and then focus on what you consider the most important (like mythics, or trial/dungeons gear, or some free stuff requiring questing, or dailies, or just exploration, etc) as this depends on what brings you the most fun. The ESO is a MMO game, after all!
Be sure to check the comprehensive list of collectibles compiled by Benevolent Bowd (
benevolentbowd):
https://benevolentbowd.ca/games/esotu/eso-making-the-most-of-it/ http://benevolentbowd.ca/games/esotu/esotu-unlockable-collectibles/ Friendly reminder: collectibles, mementos, emotes, dyes and currencies are account-wide.
If I have missed anything essential (I intentionally omitted Base Game, Vvardenfell and Imperial City things as they do not depend on ESO+), please, post that in the comments to help making this guide better. Thank you.
Good luck, friends.
Have fun
P.S. FAQ: the most frequent questions are:
- How to activate the ESO+ trial? - Normally the magic sequence is: inagme Crown Store, select the ESO Plus tab, select “Free Trial!” ( official instructionhttps://
www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/66079 ) - How long does it last? - Normally seven days. Check the official site for precise information. Event ends on June 19 14:00 UTC - is this once in a lifetime promotion? - No. You can participate in all the subsequent ESO+ free trial events whenever they happen - How often such promotions do happen? – it is hard to say, normally 2-3 times a year, but there are no schedule and warranties. - I am already subscribed. Do I benefit from this event? - Not really. - Does this week adds to existing subscriptions? – Nope. - Does free ESO+ trial unlocks Warden & Necromancer classes ?– Nope. - How long does it take to pick up all of them instant loyalty rewards? - Normally less than an hour. - Any free mounts? - Ebon Dwarven Mount from Antiquities. There are also other mounts but it depends. Mounts are granted for trifectas DLC Trials achievements, but they are really hard to obtain, as it takes highly coordinated capable group to achieve vet HM speed-run no-death. Antiquties wolf mount could be unlocked in one week but this takes some serious no-lifing. :) - What will happen with the Craftbag? - it will go into “extract only” mode, you will not lose your materials.
u/Kelinmiriel explained the order materials are consumed when crafting: the game uses 1) any stolen materials you're carrying, 2) materials from your craft bag, 3) non-stolen materials in your inventory. You have no choice about this. - Do I keep all these collectibles and items I have obtained? – Sure!
Stay safe, folx!

2024.06.07 20:19 pcserenity DURABLE Outdoor Storage Container for Birdseed?
Okay, we love our feeders and the local wildlife. We have 6 feeders and two squirrel houses. We actually handfeed the squirrels and chipmunks (who climb all over us). A few birds are now also coming up to us.
However, we've run into a bit of a dilemma. We keep our birdseed in the garage in a large round bit (landscaping trash can) and the seed often seems to house pantry moth eggs that, before long, a few get out and then, before you know it, they're everywhere. One season three years ago we had to basically sanitize the whole house. We now use pantry moth traps in the garage which does a decent, but not perfect, job of keeping them at bay, along with some pretty nasty pest strips in our attics.
I'd like to move the seed outback, but all the storage boxes I see look as if they wouldn't stand up to wildlife chewing through them to get to the seed. 90% are plastic. I've seen a few metal ones, but reviews said they rusted quickly.
Does anyone have any advice on what we can put out back that would work -- short of a shed? Having it there would also mean less carrying back and forth.

2024.06.07 20:10 TonezBonezNZ Thoughts/suggestions after over 400hours of game play
Prepare yourself for a long novel/rant (a lot longer then I thought it would be)...
First off, loving the game so far hence the amount of hours I have put into it. I have just finished playing through my second character completing all tasks. They game has some very strong bones to build off in its current state & I am excited for the future. I am particularly excited for the night cycle and NVGs to arrive as night raids are my favorite in any game (I'm looking at you Tarkov & Arma). With that being said, there are some glaring issues with it currently. Below is my rambling thoughts/suggestions on some fixes that can help (even temp fixes). Keep in mind, I have played 90% of my time as a solo bouncing between both PvP & PvE servers (I mainly mess around or farm keys needed on the PvE servers) so please take that into consideration. Some suggestions are PvP focused, most are just general stuff.
Game Optimization - This is IMO the biggest issue and should be the highest priority on the list above all else. I have friends with a vast range of PCs who either can't run it or it runs like shit & they just gave up. The reasons are everything ranging from FPS, game crashes, server crashes you name it. Some can't even boot the game up without it crashing there system. Performance in some areas tanks like Fort Narith, Midnight and in particular Tiger Bay with losses of up to 20+ FPS. Couple that with the optimization and it becomes almost unplayable for people. Myself, I drop from a constant 75-80fps to 45-50fps in Tiger Bay just standing in the area. Couple that with the FPS loss if using a scoped weapon its just not it. Using a red dot helps with the FPS drop from the scope but also makes it a lot harder to engage/see enemy's at range when they can see you perfectly through a bush with an iron sight AK.
Audio - Needs work across the board. From no footstep audio, no door opening audio at times etc it just needs work. Have also had cases where I'm somewhere like inside Midnight Hotel and the audio just switches from nothing to very loud bugged audio. Everything sounds very loud but muffled sound in a way if that makes any sense...
AI (a couple of parts to this one) - - I understand they are base AI with limited knowledge as they have explained but they need to dial them back just a bit IMO. I can see them being a bit more difficult in the end game areas (makes more sense) but even the starting town they will just laser you from the heavens. They should always be a threat on the map but not the gods of the map if that makes sense. Nothing worse then an AI spinning around on the spot and instantly 1 shotting you from 100+m.
- The share amount of them in some areas are just insane/over the top. You only need to venture into Tiger Bay to know what I am talking about but its the same case for other places also. With how aimbotty, godlike perception they have even getting close to the area you have 10+ AI all shooting you with pin point accuracy. I'm not saying gut the shit outta the amount but tone the numbers back a little. This should also allow for some better performance gains. Now this might also tie into my next point below..
- AI aggro range is......something. For example, I was in the Tiger Bay mall clearing it out to farm a task key I needed (UNLRA Quarantine). I came in the usual way from Juliet 2, sneaking my way in ensuring to not aggro the AI on the way until I was at the mall. Went in the back door and started to engage the LAF soldiers. While I was in there I was then pushed (& this has happened on multiple occasions now) by all the normal AI from outside of the mall. They looked to have been pushing from where the Lost Girl task is/beach side as they came from that area. I don't know exactly how many there were but estimated well over 70+ AI I had to kill and I didn't even get a chance to leave the door way I came in from. I also didn't even get a chance to loot anything as by that time I was out of ammo and the AI was starting to de-spawn it had been that long. Now this happens from time-time in other places also (there is no consistency), it's not just a Tiger Bay issue and it makes me question if its the amount of AI that's the issue or the aggro range that is the issue making it feel as if the amount of AI is too much.
- Bullet spongy - I don't think I need to go too deep into this but an AI shouldn't be tanking headshots/face shots while wearing nothing but a baseball cap from any ammo. Our players can't so the AI shouldn't either.
- AI in YBL needs some serious looking into. Can almost 100% guarantee that 1 if not multiple spawn inside the walls and just constantly tell you they fucked your mother. Now this happens in other places also but is particularly bad in the YBL Bunker.
- AI respawn timers need some adjusting, particularly on the PvP servers. By the time you have cleared say midnight hotel lord help you if you get into a fight with other players as the AI start re-spawning. Nothing worse then clearing an area, getting into some fun PvP only to have an AI respawn, walk up behind you with no audio and shot you in the ass. Respawn times should be set by location/amount of AI in there areas. Maybe a dev can shed some light on how the respawns work exactly? Like will the AI not respawn if a player is in the vicinity and at what distance etc. At the moment it seems very random and I am unsure if its the respawn times, respawn locations or the what seems bugged aggro range that causes this.
Key drops - Yes it extends the game play time out and keeps people going back to certain areas. But there are some keys that just have abysmal drop rates. BL Restaurant Storage key, Sawmill Office Storage key are classic examples of this. Over my time of playing the game I have only ever found those 2 keys once and that is after spending hours, days even weeks grinding for them. Now it is not just those 2 keys, there are other I have simply just never seen at all. Rare keys like Office Storage or whatever could possibly have something like a 50% chance to drop on the bosses of the area so you do have to do some work for them. If they really want to extend the game play out when it comes to keys they would need to add a usage value to them similar to what Tarkov has.
Loot - 99% of the current loot around the place is garbage/worthless trash that is not even worth picking up. Selling prices need to increase on a lot of them until they add crafting or something to make it worth while to pick up. Loot in general needs to be added in order to keep the gameplay going (more so at the higher levels). They need to add some high tier loot around the different P.O.I to give people something to go back for. This would also help with the PvP side of things and gives players more reasons to go fight over different locations (we love our loot!). When I say high tier loot, I'm talking about containers similar to those in the Pier key or UNLRA container key. Kitted M4s, high tier armor & helmets etc. Currently those 2 places have by far the best loot in the game but are just not worth the shit fight to get into to loot as the risk vs reward is not worth it. Currently as it stands you are better off going to Midnight and farming the safes & Elena garage key. I also think they need to add some gold spawns like gold watches, rings etc that sell for very good money. This also would help with the PvP side of things as where the high tier loot is, generally is where the PvP is. Outside of tasking, there isn't much to do besides PvP or fight AI & adding more things to loot is what keeps the game alive.
Character Stats/Skills etc - - The weight system/how it works currently feels imbalanced which turns you (mainly speaking for myself here) away from any looting. You will maybe pick up some more ammo or meds and maybe food/drink if required. Either need to increase the carry weight limit or add a skill system we can level up in order to increase the weight limit. Possibly add a stim (similar to Tarkovs MULE stim) to increase the weight carry limit. For people who wonder why I am going in so heavy, I challenge you to try take Tiger Bay with a couple of mags and a couple spare stacks of ammo and see how far you get. Half my carry weight is just in spare ammo & that adds up pretty fast. It's a big reason why I never use the delta bags as you can't even fill it with being a turtle.
- Ability to drop task items in bag. This kind of ties into weight system with thing like those massive containers you need to pick up for Hazardous Treasures or the Terminal Initiative tasks. Once you pick them up, they put you instantly over weight with no way of dropping them if you find yourself in a fight. You are effectively a sitting duck & basically dead with it anyway. Please allow us to drop them and if we leave them there or die well we were going to die & loose it anyway because we couldn't move.
- Leaning while side strafing I think needs to be sped up a bit (not too much or we will have other issues).
- Jumping/mantling/general movement feels somewhat clunky at times.
- Stamina (both arm & running) I feel need to be either increased a bit or like mentioned above, a skill system to be added where we can work towards increasing them.
- Hold breath - I'm not too sure how I feel about this one.....Part of me whats it to be increased (maybe by a second or 2, nothing drastic) & part of me feels like it's fine as it is. You be the judge.
Guns/ Weapons (multiple parts again) - - 7.62x51 guns/ammo are effectively useless even with the best in slot ammo or builds. There is no reason to use an M700 over an M4 for sniping/long distance shots. The ammo also feels bugged, M80 is just rubbish and the AI or players feel like you are tickling them. M61 seems VERY inconsistent as in sometime it will kill and sometimes you have put an entire mag into them. It also feels as if the damage drop off rate it not correct but I'm not 100% sure on that.
- AKs - 5.45 ammo doesn't feel too bad but can be very inconsistent (possibly could have something to do with the bullet sponginess of the AI). 7.62 AKs are just terrible and the even the BP ammo just basically does nothing. All AKs accross the board need the MOA changed, a kitted AK with all the best in slot parts should not be 3+ MOA where as a stock M4 is 2.15 MOA. Add on top of this the fact that the M4s have 60 round mags there is simply no reason to run the AKs and is a big reason why we see 99% of players running M4 or MK18s.
- M4/MK18 - I don't mind where they currently sit balance wise but we need to bring the AKs/other guns in line with how they are to add more variety. Use these guns as a baseline for how the others should perform with there own little uniqueness.
- Pistols - They need some love, no reason to run them as they can barely kill any of the AI.
- Shotguns - While better yes, I still think they need some more adjusting to make them worth using.
- Mosin - I feel is in a fairly decent spot but please give us the ability to purchase the ST rounds back.
Helis/map travel - Ahh everyone's favorite topic. While it is a cool core part to the game it is probably the most discussed topic & some peoples biggest frustration with the game currently. I can understand it's not as easy as "just add more helis" due to that having an affect on performance etc. But there are some adjustments to the current system that I think would help in the short term. I also understand they are working on an overhaul to the heli system so we shall see what the future holds.
- Showing the destination before the heli lands at base the same as it shows when it leaves the base. This would help if there is a solo or a duo who is going somewhere other players can see it and hitch a ride. Even if it is going close to where they are going they will still jump on to avoid the spamming meta of trying to get a heli.
- Speed them up a tad. Not an over the top amount to make them fucken fighter jets but just a bit faster then they currently are.
- De-spawn them faster after drop off. At the base it's not too bad but when a heli drops someone off at lets say Delta 2, we then have to wait for it to fly all the way to outside of the map to de-spawn. Players do not care to watch the heli fly off into the horizon so there is no need for them to take so long to fly out & de-spawn. This would speed up the time that another heli can be called in speeding up the entire process. Couple this with slightly faster travel times and we have a temp system that is far better then then current system.
- Call in times seem bugged at points. Multiple times I have been at base even sometimes on a server by myself, no other helis have been called or on the map and I get a 5min+ wait time. Unsure on why this is but it should not happen. This also doesn't just happen at base but even out at the LZs calling for pick up.
- Queue system - This is something that I believe should be worked on fairly quickly. Let us call a heli and it just puts us in a queue rather then all trying to fight over who can click the call transport button the fastest. Would possibly need to add a cool down timer of sorts so dicks can't just keep spamming it for the sake of being fuckwits.
- Now this is more of an idea then anything but if the helis could do multiple drop offs/pick ups along its route somehow that could also help. For example if there is a duo at Delta 3 going back to base and another duo at Echo 2 going back to base they could get picked up on the same heli. I don't know how/if that could even work but it is just an idea.
- LOUD NOISES!!! They heli volume is just unbearable lets be honest. Yes you can wear the stupid yellow ear muffs but that shouldn't be the case. Either the headsets we normally wear should have the same heli audio profile as the yellow earmuffs or they need to an Ear Plug key bind similar to what Arma has for that same reason. Currently you can't even talk to your friends or team mates in heli as the noise drowns them out. Game volume/master volume also lowers chat/VOIP volume so you can't even turn that down to help.
Tasks - While I know we only have a small portion of them for now I do have some frustrations with them.
- A lot of the current tasks are very repetitive & would love to see some more variety & possibly some PvP focused ones like eliminate players with a headshot from 100m or whatever. Tarkov does this quite well and some ideas can be gained with there own spin on it would work fine.
- They require you to constantly travel back & forth to base just to turn them only to then be given another task to go straight back. An idea I have (I know others have had also) is to have small safe zones scattered around the map where theses things can be done. Example being lets say 1 LZ has a hut with a radio where you can go to turn in a task/accept another task. This keeps people in the map itself and will in turn help with the heli problem we currently have. Even it was just 1 LZ in each area that allows it and have it change location every so often (Delta 1 for 5mins > Delta 2 for 5 mins > Delta 3 for 5mins then back to Delta 1). This would help (not 100% but help) stop people infill/extract camping those POIs waiting for players to go turn in tasks etc.
- Would love to see some form of daily tasks/weekly tasks at some point to give players who have completed the tasks a reason to keep on trucking rather then just running around aimlessly looking for a fight.
There are stuff I would love/hope to see added are things like face shields, more guns like SMGs, DMRs etc (obvious), more armor variety etc but we could go on for hours about that.
Now I know I have referenced Tarkov a number of times in here but that is because they do some of these things very well (also do some very shit things). I don't want this game to be another Tarkov because it is very different but more just utilize some of the elements that make sense and we know works.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk. Crucify away with my takes/suggestions or feel free to share your own ideas. Apologies for the dragged out post, I even surprised myself with this one.

2024.06.07 19:48 78N-16E Troubleshooting kleptovoltaic antiprogressors
https://preview.redd.it/fkrax80ys65d1.png?width=723&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b56e7632ce9deff512eac90243d3c2e9d2daca5 Not sure if this is the right sub, but here goes:
I work at a self storage facility and found this thing in a delinquent unit. A guy rented a 5x10, put this inside, and never paid rent again (also won't return calls). I have a lot of downtime in this job, so I research this stuff when I'm bored. Only reading, no hands-on experience (until now). According to google, you needed one of these to normalize aephrodontic metafrequencies from the old osmium-based ablatopercussors (before recursive profanitary tuplers made all that stuff obsolete).
It cranks up and runs smoothly, but the spoorvane oscillates wildly as soon as I engage the emulsitractor. The first time this happened, I turned it off immediately (panic reaction). After googling, I found out that this can happen if the achromatic psyvalve gets above 24 degrees K before all the trimethylpurine-dione is purged (aka turning it off wrong). The machine is supposed to self-correct, since the ejectopolymer will eventually harmonize by pure luck. I left it running with the emulsitractor engaged for about 90 seconds before the reflenebrations were unbearable and I had to disengage it. I'm glad I turned it off when I did - my neighbor felt it and called 911.
I plugged it into my computer (probably spent more on the RS-328 to USB adapter than this piece of equipment is worth) and the sensors confirm C8H10I3N4O2 in the psyvalve. I can't find any official documentation, and company that made this went out of business when the progenitronics bubble burst (apparently they went all-in right before the bottom dropped out). I don't have any PPE or containment equipment, so I'm probably just going to work on it in the backyard and take lots of breaks. Do you guys have any advice?

2024.06.07 19:33 tartley Will Duplicati reading files via SMB be slow?
I'm setting up Duplicati to backup files on my Zimablade NAS running CasaOS.
I have a zimablade running CasaOS, onto which I installed Duplicati via the CasaOS app installer. I'm trying to configure Duplicati backups of my Zimablade's storage drives. But from within the Duplicati container, then out of the box that host filesystem is not visible.
Should I just configure Duplicati to read the files it is backing up via their existing SMB share? I can see
in the user guide how to do that, but I'm worried this might be slow.
The alternative, I think, is to add a filesystem mount to the Duplicati container, so that it can see the files as though they were on its local filesystem. I'm not 100% sure of how to do that yet, presumably ssh in to the zimablade and figure out how to add the mount to the Duplicati docker container. But I have reservations about this, because it seems like the sort of ad-hoc out-of-band extra config that I'll have to remember (how) to maintain in future.
(Other than this, I'm just serving media over SMB for a separate Jellyfin server, and sharing some files using syncthing. My goal is to back all of this up using Duplicati. I'm not married to Duplicati, it is just the only result from searching CasaOS apps for 'backup'.)

2024.06.07 18:54 shivsoftwareespert12 Revolutionizing Decision-Making: The Power of AI and Data Analytics
Introduction
Decision-making is at the heart of every successful business and organization. The ability to make informed, accurate decisions can make the difference between thriving and merely surviving. Enter
AI and data analytics – two powerful tools that are revolutionizing the decision-making landscape. But how exactly do they work, and what makes them so indispensable? Let's dive in.
What is AI?
AI, or Artificial Intelligence, refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, particularly computer systems. These processes include learning (the acquisition of information and rules for using it), reasoning (using rules to reach approximate or definite conclusions), and self-correction.
History and Evolution
AI's roots trace back to the mid-20th century with the advent of digital computers. Early pioneers like Alan Turing and John McCarthy laid the groundwork, envisioning machines that could mimic human thought processes. Over the decades, AI has evolved from basic rule-based systems to sophisticated algorithms capable of learning and adapting on their own.
Understanding Data Analytics
Data analytics involves examining data sets to draw conclusions about the information they contain. It encompasses various techniques, from simple data aggregation and summarization to complex statistical analysis.
Types of Data Analytics
- Descriptive Analytics: What happened?

2024.06.07 18:30 cporter202 Ensuring Cybersecurity When Integrating ChatGPT into Your Business Workflow
In an increasingly interconnected world, businesses are constantly looking for ways to streamline workflows and improve productivity. The integration of AI tools like OpenAI's ChatGTP can provide significant benefits, but it also introduces cybersecurity concerns that must be addressed.
When opting to integrate ChatGPT into your business operations, it’s essential to maintain a strong security posture to protect sensitive data and maintain privacy. Here are key steps to ensure cybersecurity:
1. Data Encryption: Implement robust encryption standards to secure data in transit and at rest. ChatGPT interactions may contain proprietary information that could be vulnerable during transmission or storage.
2. Access Controls: Define user roles and permissions carefully. Not every employee requires full access to the AI tool. Establish levels of access that correlate with job responsibilities to minimize the risk of internal threats.
3. Regular Updates and Patch Management: As with any software, it's critical to keep the AI tool up-to-date with the latest patches and updates. This routine maintenance can protect against known vulnerabilities.
4. Employee Training: Staff should be educated on the proper use of ChatGPT, recognizing phishing attempts, and the importance of strong password policies. Human error is a significant factor in cybersecurity breaches.
5. Monitoring and Analytics: Use security monitoring tools to detect unusual activity that could indicate a breach. Analyzing logs and user activity can help identify patterns that precedents an attack.
6. Vet the Provider: Thoroughly assess the security measures that OpenAI has in place for ChatGPT. Ensure their protocols align with your cybersecurity standards.
7. Data Privacy Compliance: Ensure that the use of ChatGPT is compliant with data protection regulations like GDPR or CCPA. You may need to modify workflows or settings within ChatGPT to meet these requirements.
8. Incident Response Plan: Have a plan ready in the event of a security breach. Knowing who's responsible for what, along with quick containment and recovery procedures, could minimize damage.
9. Secure Integration Points: When integrating ChatGPT with other systems (like CRM or ERP), ensure those connections are secure. Use API keys and secure gateways to connect different software components.
By proactively addressing these cybersecurity challenges, you’ll mitigate risks while harnessing the powerful capabilities of AI like ChatGPT to improve your business operations. Adapt and revise these strategies as needed to stay ahead of the evolving cybersecurity landscape. Remember that technology is a tool, and like any tool, its safety and efficacy depend heavily on the manner of its use.

2024.06.07 18:17 MD_thrway_AfterPea I am 31 years old, make $92,600 base, live in Northern Alberta, work in Forestry and recently returned to work after a year off for maternity leave
Title: I am 31 years old, make $92,600 base, live in Northern Alberta, work in Forestry, and recently returned to work after a year off for maternity leave.
- All $ in CAD. $1 CAD to $0.73 US.
- I will call my spouse H.
- We aren’t looking to change spending habits too much, this was more a fun exercise to see what we spend and how we’re doing financially now that I am back to work.
HHI: $166,000 Section One: Assets and Debt Retirement Balance: Total $76,431 (joint) - My retirement accounts include a DCPP of $62,495, an RRSP of $8125, and a TFSA of $130
- H’s only has a spousal RRSP of $5631
- DCPP amount is from a 5% base contribution plus 2% matching from my employer, and 3% from me. I have had this account since 25 (when I started at the company) and have done the matching the entire time except during my maternity leave. They continued the 5% base while I was off on maternity leave, I had the option to get the matching as well but we couldn’t swing the cost while I was only on EI.
- RRSPs are mostly from excess benefits money. I have flex benefits and get an annual amount to “spend”. Before we had our kid there was about $500/month split going into our RRSPs. Now we do $42.30/month split ($21.15 for each). The spousal RRSP means I can claim this on my taxes, instead of him claiming on his.
- TFSAs will be our next focus once we’ve caught up on the annual bills from May to July - annual house insurance and two vehicle insurances. We haven’t been consistent with depositing into our TFSA’s, so we have $80K+ room in each.
Equity: The house is worth $400,000. We owe $303,000. Equity is $97,000.
Savings account balance: $450 in emergency savings (this is a priority starting in August to beef up), $2000 in property taxes sinking fund (to be spent by July)
Checking account balance: $5288.15 - we both got paid today so I will be moving money around and this number will be down a lot by the end of the day.
Credit card debt: $16,635 - $12,855 LOC. This is entirely from vehicles - before I went on maternity leave H sold his truck and we took a $9500 loss - pulled the money out of the LOC to pay off the lien. In April, we needed a different vehicle so we took $6500 out of the LOC to purchase a new-to-us car. We have yet to sell the vehicle we replaced, but when we do that money will either go onto LOC or into emergency savings. We’re aiming to get $3000 for the sale.
- $530 My CC. This is from not budgeting for two road trips I took in the last two weeks, plus some other overspending on random things.
- $3250 H CC. This is from overspending on groceries/gas and vehicle expenses.
Student loan debt: $0 - H went to trade school (8 weeks/year for 4 years) to become a journeyman mechanic
- I took a 2-year diploma program that cost $12,000 (including books and random spending). My parents saved up $20K for me to go to college/university, so I got about $8,000 in cash from my mum once I graduated as I didn’t use all of the savings for school.
- I lived with my mum while in college and H lived with roommates so his income went to rent/groceries/bills and I had basically no living expenses as my mum covered everything.
- When he went to trade school I was working, so I covered our bills while he was off (and he got EI and some grants during that time frame).
Other Info: - H and I have had combined finances since we were 19 when we married. This has greatly changed our financial situation.
- I have access to an employee stock purchase plan - I have about $1400 in my company stocks with no plan for them at the moment.
- I got a salary top-up when I went on maternity leave. My employer covered my 1 week EI waiting period and topped up to 100% salary for 11 weeks. The rest of the time I was off I was getting $1158 biweekly from EI.
- We qualify for the Climate Action Incentive from the federal government. This is about $1200/year.
- We get CCB for our kid of $140.61/month. This will increase to $273.74/month come July as our annual income was less in 2023 compared to 2022.
Net Worth: $164,484 Section Two: Income Income Progression (Post College/Trade School): - H has been in his field for roughly 8 years and his starting salary was about $37,000 ($19/hr). Two years ago, he took a $20/hour pay cut moving from a journeyman mechanic ($45/hr) to a service advisor ($25/hr). He’s since gotten a $10/hr pay increase from switching employers and switching roles/getting a raise. H now makes $72,800 not including any overtime, which he does get fairly regularly.
- I've been working in my field for 8 years, and my starting salary was about $41,000. I have not changed careers, but I have changed employers. I got two raises when at my first job post-college from $20/hr (41,000) to $23/hr ($47,800) to $30/hr ($62,400). When I started at my current employer in 2018 I was offered $78,000 annually, plus moving benefits (approx $2000). I’ve consistently gotten a 2-5% raise every year (except this year - but I did get a raise 2 weeks before going on leave) or have gotten promoted and am now making $92,600 before bonuses. I get two bonuses a year, one is based on company performance and has been $0 to $10,000. My other bonus is performance-based and has been anywhere from $1200 to $4000. I got both bonuses while on maternity leave, the company performance one was cut in half based on hours worked. I also had to pay back EI because of my bonus income.
Main Job Monthly Take-Home: Mine: $4768.90 (two paycheck months) - My monthly deductions include ESPP $213.60, DCPP matching $213.60, social club $5, flex benefits $26, plus taxes $701.27, CPP $203.97 and EI $59.14. In September I usually have an increase in my monthly take home as my CPP/EI is maxed out, but this might not happen this year as my RTW date was the end of April.
H: $3687.28 - H gets an advance on the 15th of $1000 and at the end of the month gets the rest of his pay. His end-of-the-month pay has ranged from $2600 to $3900 already this year because of illness, time off and short months.
- H’s deductions include taxes $623.25, EI $78.23, CPP $263.07, and $61.10 of HCP, but we’re not 100% sure what the HCP is cause he declined his benefits. This reminds me he should talk to payroll and see what’s up with that. He hits his 1st anniversary in August so we’ll see if he ends up maxing out CPP/EI in September or so.
Side Gig Monthly Take-Home: - I craft and go to some markets and things, but don’t make much after counting all my costs. If I didn’t sell things I made, I’d have no room for craft storage!
- I am working on a custom quilt that when finished will bring in $275.
Any Other Monthly Income Here: - As said above, we qualify for the CAI and CCB. CCB is $140/month currently and CAI is $400 quarterly.
- I get $500/year from my benefits to spend wherever and however I want. So far this year I’ve spent it on clothes and hiking boots. I have $190 left.
Section Three: Expenses - Mortgage: $950 bi-weekly - $1900/month on 2 pay period months.
- Property Taxes: Sinking fund of $185/biweekly (we pay this annually in June. It is $2250 this year, last year was $1950).
- Home Insurance: $1640 annually. We pay this in full in July. I expect it to increase this year, but I’m unsure how much.
- Retirement Contribution: In addition to pre-tax contributions above, starting in August, biweekly contributions will be $377 to H’s TFSA and $226 to mine. H’s is more as I have my DCPP and when H’s total is closer to even or maxed out, I’ll max out mine.
- Savings Contribution: $200/biweekly starting in July, we also will have a home maintenance fund and will save $425/month.
- Debt Payments: LOC minimum is $130/month. We pay anywhere from $200 to $2000/month. This will increase come August, and the LOC will be paid off in May 2025. Both CCs should be paid off by September.
- Donations: $20/month to the animal shelter, and $20/month to SOS, I also volunteer at least 5-15 hours a month to a local sports group and to the foundation my MIL set up after my BIL passed. I sit on the board for both non-profits. We also randomly donate money to other things, or go in on 50/50 raffles different nonprofits have.
- Utilities: In the winter $600/month, the summer around $300/month. Gas and electricity combined. I live somewhere where it hits -40C and +40C depending on the time of the year.
- Garbage Rental: $40/month, $120/month when we get it dumped - approximately every 4 months. We live on an acreage and instead of carting garbage bags to work every week or going to the dump, we rent a dumpster for the driveway and call to have it dumped when it's full.
- Septic System Inspection/Cleaning: $400/year
- Internet: $105/month for unlimited fibre optic.
- Cellphone: $70/month for H. I have a work phone at no charge.
- Subscriptions: Amazon Prime $99/year, Spotify $11.54/month, Patreon $10.50/month (Money Feels <3), PlayStation Plus $32/quarter, Kindle Unlimited $10/month, Crunchyroll $9.99/month ($60.95/month total)
- Pet expenses: Roughly $100/month for food and litter for our two cats. Plus $400/year for an annual checkup. This will go up some as they age and probably have to have dental cleanings done.
- Car Insurance/Registration: No payments we own both vehicles outright. Insurance is $1500/year for both vehicles, we pay this in May/July. H spends around $300/month on gas as we live 30 min out of town. I have a work truck so I have no commuting costs. Annually we spend $160 on registration. AMA is 262.50 annually in July.
- Paid Hobbies: Don’t have fixed costs for these right now as we cut them out while I was on maternity leave. In January though, we’ll each get $100-200/month for hobbies.
- Daycare: $900/month ($450 the 1st and 15th). This is slightly more expensive than some others we found and does not qualify for subsidy or grants, but L loves her day home and the caretaker is great.
- Life/Disability Insurance: $125/month for both of us. This is $500K each for life and $100K each for critical illness.
- Food: Roughly $800/month in groceries and I’m not sure about eating out. Since going back to work a month ago life has been hectic so we’re spending more than usual on eating out/convenient foods. H has ADHD and forgets his lunch at home or in the car every day which is a waste, so he buys lunch either at the nearby grocery store or restaurants. I sometimes pack leftovers and sometimes go get food. I’ve been trying to get freezer meals and leave them at the office so I don’t have to pack things back and forth and we haven’t been making meals with leftovers.
- L’s Baby Supplies: $75/month? We have to buy diapers and wipes monthly pretty much.
- House Cleaners: This is an expense we had before H took his pay cut, and we’ve been slowly putting it back in the budget on and off. Roughly $200/clean which happens sporadically as the house is a mess and there is no time for two working parents to clean with an 11-month-old butt scooting everywhere. She always manages to find floor snacks
- Family: We send my sister-in-law money on a fairly regular basis, anywhere from $20-$100. She always pays us back, but we treat this as a write-off in case she doesn’t.
— Day 1 - Friday 2 am - L wakes up and I get her back down 3 times before 3 am. At 3, H takes her out of the room to burn some energy before they both come back to bed roughly an hour later. Thanks, L. Thank you, H I was getting pretty frustrated with our darling child.
6:30 am - The first alarm goes off and I grab L for a cuddle and morning nursing session. Once she’s done, she rolls around and tries to climb both of us to get our phones before we all get out of bed at 7. Today is a PJ movie day at daycare so we don’t bother dressing her only changing the diaper and then H and L are out the door by 7:15. I leave for work at about 7:45 after doing some putting around.
8:15 am - I get to work and my first stop is the coffee machine. I get back to my office after talking to a few coworkers about our social club golf event next weekend. I see that an industry-specific mentor cohort program is open for applications so I find my most recent resume (2021!) and do a major update before applying. This year one of my goals is to work on leadership skills and mentoring so why not apply?
9 am - I had a hard time finding a bra this morning so I go online and purchase two new ones from the local bra-tique for pickup. My total is
$170 after my 10% discount for signing up for their email list. This money is coming from my $500 annual work benefit for whatever I want and I now have $20 left. I eat my breakfast at my desk - yoghurt and homemade granola today.
11 am - I have a webinar on caribou to attend so I log into Zoom and while it's loading, pull up our cashflow forecaster to get the payday finances done before the weekend. $1750 to H’s cc to cover some overspending/vehicle expenses, $100 to the LOC, $373.10 for utilities, and $450 for daycare.
Total is $2673.10 I’m not sure if I should include the bills in the daily writeups, but ah well. Day 1 spending is off to a great start.
1 pm - I get the notification that my bras are ready for pickup. Woohoo! I get new bras for the weekend! I send $50 to H’s TFSA once I confirm the bank account is connected.
2:30 pm - Eating lunch now as breakfast was so late. Freezer butter chicken with broccoli. I only have 1 more freezer meal at work so I make a note to restock.
3:30 pm - I work on some cycle times for the log haul for this coming logging season. It takes me a few minutes to remember exactly what I’m doing and how to do it. I am super glad I came back to work at the end of April as I get 3-ish months of slow time to get back into the swing of things before work starts to pick up.
4 pm - I am struggling to do any more than format my Excel sheets so I figure it’s time to pack it up and head home.
4:30 pm - After picking up my bras, I go to Once Upon A Child for some cheap baby clothes. L is in between sizes and we somehow managed to misplace all her more summery sleepwear so I’ve been grabbing a few here and there. OUAC has a sale on, 5 sleepers for $15 so I grab 5 of those and 4 other onesies for summer. We have a family photoshoot on Canada Day and I’ve been hunting for something that’ll match L’s ribbon skirt.
$30.45 5 pm - I stop at the store to check the mail and grab a 12-pack of mixed tequila smashes.
$37.55 5:30 pm - H calls. He’s off work and headed to get L. I pull burgers and fries out of the freezer, start up the BBQ and get the air fryer going.
6:05 pm - H and L arrive home in perfect time as the burgers and fries just finished cooking. I have an open Pineapple Tequila Smash and I hand H one to drink with supper too. L also has a veggie pouch with the burgers and fries.
7:20 pm - L is in bed nursing to sleep after her bath while H preps episode 4 of Obi-Wan Kenobi for us to watch. We watched it when it was first coming out, but he saw the discs at Walmart last week and figured to grab them. We thought we hadn’t seen all the episodes, but so far we’re 3:3 so we might’ve seen them all.
7:40 pm - L is down and out and I sneak out of the bedroom. I start a load of laundry and find the two bras I couldn’t this morning and handwash them. I sit down with H and we watch some Obi-Wan Kenobi.
10 pm - I check my email and see one from a local photographer group I really like. I’ve done at least two shoots with all 3 of them separately before and they’ve now joined forces. I went to their open house yesterday and won 50% off a boudoir package in 2024. I’ve wanted to book in since they announced their group, so I go through their open spots and book for November. My initial deposit is
$262.50. 10:30 pm - We finished the last 3 episodes and watched all previously except for the finale. Of course. It was pretty good, but near the end, I started to scroll on my phone more than pay attention to the show. I swap the laundry, shower and head to bed at 11 pm.
H’s spending Day 1: $7.54 for lunch,
$267.58 on vehicle parts/oil change that we didn’t budget for. Normally we would’ve, but communication is kinda crappy atm, and I think that’s due to sleep deprivation.
Day 1 total: $775.62 spending + $50 to TFSA. Oof off to a spendy start for the pay period. — Day 2 - Saturday 2:40 am - L is awake again and not going back down. This time it’s my turn. It’s already been a not-great night, hopefully, this 2 am party time doesn't keep happening.
4 am - We go back to bed. Our internet is on autopay and the notification comes through for my credit card.
$105 7:20 am - L is up for the day. I don’t want to get out of bed yet, so I cuddle H and L rolls around, tries to stand and almost deletes everything on my phone. Then she notices my boobs so it’s time for a quick nurse.
8 am - I run the coffee machine and get breakfast going. We’re having pancakes this morning. While they’re cooking I pop some milk in the frother to make a fancy coffee. TBD if I drink it while it’s still hot. I feed the cats their morning meal.
8:30 am - H gets up and I’m still cooking. He grabs a coffee and takes L into the living room so I don’t trip over her and the plastic container horde.
9:30 am - H plays some Baldurs Gate 3 and L watches while I sort through the laundry I did last night. I try to get dressed and none of my shorts fit anymore so off in the donation bag they go. It’ll be a summer of dresses I guess! I start another load of laundry.
9:50 am - L is ready for a nap. Just kidding she just wanted some boob instead. We go outside afterwards to get some morning sun. Hopefully, this will tire her out and she will go down for a nap later! She hasn’t been big on sleep since she was born and gets major FOMO so we have no semblance of a schedule on weekends.
10:45 am - I bring L back inside and change her into outfit #3 for the day. Her trike got rained on and she gets soaked when she sits in it. I switch the laundry over, start yet another load and then pass L to H so I can head to the store, fill the Jerry can with gas for the lawnmower and do the recycling. 20 L of gas is
$32.78 and I grab two lime slushes for H and I
($5.19). It’s +20 already and gorgeous.
Total $37.97 11:30 am - L is ready for a nap! By 11:50 she’s down and I head outside to mow some of the lawn. It’s usually a 4 hr job so I don’t think I’ll get it all done today.
1 pm - I head inside for lunch, we’re having tuna sandwiches. L napped for 20 min and I didn’t get more than half the lawn mowed. After lunch, we head into town to hang out with my friend K and her two kids. We met in college back in 2014 and have babies of a similar age so it’s always nice to go over and visit.
4:30 pm - We leave K’s house and I swing by Wendy’s for a cold coffee-type drink for the drive home. I try the chocolate frosty-cinno and it’s terrible. Should’ve just gone to Tim’s for an ice cap.
$4.19 5:05 pm - L fell asleep on the drive home so I hang out in the car with the windows down for another 5-10 minutes before moving things inside. She wakes up and we head in. H picks a meal and starts making dinner. L is fussy and still tired so I nurse her and we hang out in the cool basement while H cooks. I sort through the laundry that finished off today.
6 pm - H is still cooking our dinner, I reheat leftover pasta for L. H runs her bath and I bath her. She’s still grumpy on and off so she’ll probably be going to bed right after this.
6:45 pm - H and I eat chicken wings and shrimp poppers. L has decided it’s not bedtime yet, I tried to put her down and she got a second wind instead.
9:30 pm - I work on the website for one of the non-profits I volunteer for once L goes to bed at 8. After I’m done, I head into the craft room and work on the custom rag quilt project. One row left to sew together, then to put the final 5 rows together, figure out my borders and start cutting all the edges! It’s not ‘due’ until mid-July but I’d rather get it done sooner and not have to rush. My SIL texts and asks to borrow
$50 till Thursday, I send it over out of my spending.
11 pm - H and I both go to bed after some kitty snuggles
Day 2 total: $92.16 (not counting $105 for internet) — Day 3 - Sunday 7 am - L is awake and I nurse her a couple of times cause she can’t decide if she’s happy or not. It was a decent night, but she must still be tired from not napping much yesterday. It’s my day to sleep in so H takes her out of the room by 7:30.
9:30 am - I get up make some coffee and slowly start on breakfast
10:30 am - L and I are eating breakfast, I made scrambled eggs, fried up leftover sausage, tomato and she also has two crackers with cream cheese. H and I wrote up a grocery list before I sat down and he’s off to town to get groceries and fuel up the car before the work week starts. Usually, H and his best friend C have a grocery shopping bro-date every Sunday, but C and his family are out camping this weekend so H heads in alone.
11 am - L is ready for a nap. I put her down and fold her laundry and the house laundry, taking a few breaks to scroll Reddit or Facebook and drink more coffee.
12:30 pm - L woke up and is kinda grouchy so we have a dance party to elicit baby giggles. H gets back from shopping and we put the groceries away, they cost
$374.03. This is actually cheaper than the last few times we did a stock up so that’s nice! Groceries include ground beef, frozen chicken, wings, fries, cucumber, tomatoes, grapes, bananas, yoghurt, frozen lunches, macaroni, Ichiban, burgers, buttermilk, perogies, frozen fruit, frozen veggies, gravy mix, hollandaise mix, and more. We’ve been buying more convenience foods lately, but I do have 3 suppers planned for the week. He also grabbed me a big coffee mug for
$6. He got gas for
$60.83, and once we unload the groceries, he runs to the store for bacon, 2 jars of our favourite cowboy candy (pickled sweetened jalapeños), chips and a Starbucks frappe drink for
$41.93. I make some sandwiches for lunch for tomorrow so I don’t have to scramble in the morning.
1 pm - Lunch is Ichiban noodles for H and I and baby charcuterie for L - strawberries, grapes, ham, cheese, and cucumber. We head outside afterwards to enjoy the weather, L is so close to walking, she pulls herself up onto everything right now. She has an after-lunch snack of mown grass and dandelions.
3 pm - We’re back inside and H puts on Die Hart 2. L goes down for her second nap at 4:15 and we finish the movie. I wake L up at 5:45 so she doesn’t sleep too long. When she wakes up she makes a face identical to her dad’s and it’s hilarious.
7 pm - H is cooking dinner, we’re having eggs Benny and bacon for supper. I prep L’s diaper bag for tomorrow and we run it out to the car. I also put all my laundry away so the closet is ready for the week. H sits on the chair once we’re done dinner and both cats flock to him and spread themselves over his legs.
9:45 pm - I finish off piecing the quilt top and head downstairs to shower. L is getting tired too so as soon as I’m done we head to bed. H is not far behind us.
Daily 3 total: $482.79. This is pretty usual for a grocery shop day. — Day 4 - Monday 6:35 am - My alarm goes off. Can’t lay in bed today as I need to meet my coworkers at the office at 7:30 am. We’re doing a team bonding mountain hike and it’s a 2.5 hrs drive away. I grab a banana, toast a bagel, add cream cheese and I’m out the door before 7 after filling up the cats' food.
7:30 am - I get to the office, fill up a water bottle, make a coffee and grab a few things from my office. Almost everyone is there, and we leave at 7:45
9:45 am - We’re there! I’ve seen 2 moose, 1 mule deer, 1 elk and almost hit 2 caribou on the highway already today! We start up the trailhead at about 10 am
1:00 pm - This mountain is much steeper than anticipated. A coworker and I decide at about 300 metres to the top that we shouldn’t push it. The last km has been extremely steep and we’ve hit our max. The rest of the group has gone ahead and summitted. We eat our lunch with a great view and start the trek back down.
3:30 pm - We’re back at the trucks! 11.2 km round trip. We hit the road to head home and stop at Dairy Queen for a celebratory ice cream. I spend
$4.92 on a medium dip cone.
6 pm - Back at the office. I call H and let him know I’m headed home now and he suggests chicken wings for supper. I’m down for anything as long as I don’t have to cook.
7 pm - We all eat dinner. L has some veggie pouch, chicken wings/nuggets and leftover pasta. I am almost too tired to eat. One cat keeps trying to get L’s nuggets so he gets in trouble and shooed out of the dining room.
8:15 pm - I try to put L to bed and she goes down for a bit but decides ultimately that it’s not actually time for bed.
8:40 pm - I go and have a hot, hot shower, my muscles are sore and tomorrow might not be fun. L and H party in the TV area, she’s pulling herself up onto everything and trying to crawl up the couch. Not sure where she got this energy from! One of our cats comes for some aggressive cuddles and pets and H puts his dirty t-shirt on the chair for him. Our cat loves dirty laundry it’s hilarious.
9:20 pm - Time for bed for everyone. Hope tonight is a good night and we all can get some rest.
Day 4 Total: $4.92 (this would have been covered by one of the superintendents but a few people got ahead of her in line so she couldn’t pay for us all).
My card is also charged by the garbage disposal company for the dumpster ($40.43 - counted in the bills above). H didn’t spend any money today. — Day 5 - Tuesday 7 am - The first alarm went off at 6:30, but we are all tired and don’t want to wake up. I nurse L for a bit then we get up at 7. I’m pretty sore this morning so I’m not moving too fast. Get her dressed and H and L leave by 7:10. H fed the cats this morning so I don’t have to.
7:30 am - I forgot to pay H’s other cc and it’s due in 4 days so I pay it off now -
$93.80 (random Amazon purchases and my KU). I pull some chicken out of the freezer to defrost and make my breakfast of homemade granola, hemp hearts and yoghurt. I leave the house around 7:45 to head to work.
8:20 am - I get to the office and immediately get asked some questions about blocks we have slated for this Fall/Winter. I’m not 100% sure of the answer and have to double-check with my boss. I grab a coffee and chat with the head boss before my boss arrives. I clarify what I need and relay the info back to my coworkers.
9:30 am - I eat my breakfast while I scroll through online courses offered by my company. I got an email yesterday of one I’m supposed to take so I book into that.
11 am - I book H and myself massages, 2 each - one this month and one next month.
12:30 pm - I took a long time to eat breakfast so I’m not quite hungry yet. I grab my running shoes from the truck and take a slow walk on the elliptical to help my sore muscles. This morning hasn’t been too busy, but I’m having a hard time starting my next big task (cycle time calculations) so hopefully the slow walk helps some.
1:30 pm - I’m back at my desk and diving into cycle time calculations. H grabs KFC for lunch
$24.12 2 pm - Lunch time, I’m having a leftover sandwich from yesterday, a grapefruit cup, grapes and strawberries. I also grab a chai with milk from the coffee machine. I eat while I plug away at the cycle times.
3:45 pm - I finish off one section of cycle times and my brain has had enough. I go fill my water bottle and chat with a few coworkers. At 4:15 pm someone comes by to sign a few cheques I asked for and I leave the office at 4:30 pm
4:40 pm - H grabbed buttermilk instead of heavy cream and I need it for supper tonight so I swing by the grocery store. Then, I head out of town to a colleague’s house to drop off one of the cheques.
$4.95 5:15 pm - I check the mail, get home and start cooking. We’re having Skillet Dijon Chicken with Asparagus and Mushrooms for supper. I also make some macaroni for a side. H and L get home about 5:45 to the cats waiting at the door.
6:20 pm - Supper is served! It is delicious. L and H aren’t fans of the asparagus, but the chicken, macaroni and sauce are perfection! H also riggs up a tie to L’s water bottle so it doesn’t hit the ground every 30 seconds. We fed the cats at the same time and they’re not begging for food quite so much tonight.
6:50 pm - We’re finished supper, H cleans up and I bath L.
7:30 pm - H calls my/our best friend J via FaceTime and we chat with her and her daughter R for a few minutes. L tried to steal the phone and gets mad when we don’t let her. J’s daughter requests a morning call so I promise to call at 7 am. J doesn’t think R will be awake yet so we’ll see!
8 pm - L is tired and ready to go to sleep. I put her down, have a hot bath, throw in some epsom salts, and read a bit on my KU.
9:40 pm - Bedtime!
Day 5 Total: $112.17 (removed $10 for my KU - counted in subscriptions) — Day 6 - Wednesday 7 am - I nurse L, she had a weird wake-up last night so we’re tossing the idea of taking her into daycare today. I’ll probably take her in a bit later and H will take his truck so if I have to WFH for the afternoon I can. Try calling J and R and there is no response - I am not surprised.
7:45 am - L and I leave the house, she’s not coughing much and doesn’t have a fever or anything so she’s good to go to daycare today
8:15 am - I drop L off at daycare
8:30 am - I get to the office. I talk with a few coworkers and ask our admin if my new phone has been dropped off yet.
9 am - My new phone is here! Now to start the setup process, everything takes forever with all the authentication apps we need. I also go through all my iCloud photos and organize/save them to my OneDrive while the phone is getting set up.
12:30 pm - I think the phone is finally done. Now to eat some lunch, I’m having leftovers from 2 nights ago - chicken nuggets, strawberries, grapes and a Cherry Bubly.
1:30 pm - H goes to a food truck for lunch.
$35.01. This includes the tip.
3 pm - I had some more phone set-up to do. Might be finished now? Get an email about the cats’ annual checkups and vaccinations so I book their appointments for August.
4 pm - SIL paid me back the $50, plus another $50 she’d borrowed earlier.
(+$100) I work on the photo garland for L’s first birthday for a bit.
5 pm - I haven’t gotten much done today beyond setting up my phone. I leave the office and pick up L at 5:20. I talk to her day home provider for about 15 min about how she’s been doing, etc.
6 pm - We get home! H has cooked supper already, so as soon as we get in the door we sit down to eat. Supper tonight is perogies and garlic bread. L also has a veggie pouch. H tells me the old vehicle was sold, and the buyers are doing a payment plan. We will get $300/month for the next 10 months. A lump sum would be nice, but H’s coworkers will handle all the paperwork so it’s no more work for us.
6:45 pm - Time for a bath! H cleans up supper, cleans the litter boxes (we have 3) and starts some laundry while I take L and get her cleaned up.
7 pm - All finished in the bath. We head downstairs and hang out until L is ready for sleep. I mostly scroll my phone and H plays on his Rog Ally. L climbs the couch and me and scoots around on the floor hunting for different treasures.
8:40 pm - L is ready for bed. I put her down and read some more KU
10 pm - H and I head to bed. I washed and dried a baby quilt to bring to work in the morning for a coworker.
Day 6 Total: $35.01 for H’s lunch. I spend $0, and ‘make’ $100 — Day 7 - Thursday 6:35 am - The first alarm goes off. It’s a new one on the phone and nice to wake up to! L doesn’t want to wake up and she grumbles and rolls around.
7 am - We all get out of bed. I get L dressed while H packs up what he needs for the day. I get her milk together and they’re out the door by 7:15
7:50 am - I leave the house. After H and L left, I did the dishes and packed up my stuff for the day. Made a smoothie for breakfast (yoghurt, flax seed, orange, banana, rhubarb jam, frozen berries, watermelon, cranberry juice and milk) and there’s lots left over so I pop that into the fridge for tomorrow. I need gas in the work truck, so I head there before going to the office. I have a fuel card so I don’t spend any $ on fuel.
8:30 am - Get to the office and it’s time to make a coffee. I have some things to get done before my webinar at 11 am.
9 am - I show the quilt to my coworker, she loves it and buys it!
(+$100) 11 am - Oops. I didn’t get the login link earlier and don’t know who to contact to get it so no webinar for me. I scroll Reddit and my socials and work a bit more on my cycle times. I snack on some grapes and drink another coffee.
1 pm - Lunch time! I’m having leftover skillet Dijon chicken and macaroni. It is still delicious, that recipe is going into the rotation for sure! H goes to McDonalds for lunch and spends
$35.66. He bought a coworker lunch as well, she was having a rough day.
2 pm - Chat with a few coworkers about different projects/things we need to think of for this next year.
3 pm - I have an afternoon pick-me-up snack of Brookside pomegranate-flavoured chocolate and a ginger ale.
4:30 pm - I’m tired and don’t feel like doing anything else. I leave the office and call H to see what we should do for supper. We decide on potstickers and veggies, I’ll start cooking when I get home. I stop and check the mail on my way home too.
5:45 pm - H and L arrive home. I take L into the spare room and we call my mum and grandma for a video chat. L rolls around the bed and shows off how she’s almost standing!
6:10 pm - We sit down to eat, L isn’t that interested in either the potstickers or veggies so we pull out some leftover macaroni and she goes to town on that.
7 pm - Bath time! H cleans up and does some more laundry. It just seems to never end.
7:30 pm - Bedtime for L. I read some of my book while I put her down.
8:30 pm - SIL texts again to borrow
$50. I send it over out of my spending. I get all of the borders cut for the custom quilt.
9 pm - H has SING on so I sit down to watch it, he’s also playing his Rog Aloy and I’m reading some more of my book.
10 pm - We go to bed.
Day 7 Total: $35.66 for H’s lunch. I spend $50, and ‘make’ $100 — Weekly Expenses: - Food + Drink: 575.09
- Fun/Entertainment: $0
- Home + Health: $38.78 (includes gas for lawn mower)
- Clothes + Beauty: $200.45
- Transport/Vehicle Expenses: $328.41
- Other: $496.30 (CC payment, photoshoot, TFSA and $ to SIL)
Total Spending: $1639.03 Reflection: - This was a more expensive week for sure. I don’t usually spend money on clothes and the photo shoot deposit was a random impulsive spend. The vehicle expenses were also a bit different, usually, they’re budgeted for but not this time.
- Honestly surprised we didn’t order dinner at least once this week - usually we do!
- Events-wise, it was a typical week except for the mountain hike, those are not part of my usual work day. This time of year is slow and mostly involves prep for the coming winter.
- This was a fun experiment to write! I did have to cut some things as my word count kept increasing and I didn’t want it to be too long - is this too long even still? Too much detail on baby routines?

I recently upgraded to Expo 51 coming from 49 and on that version I loaded some images from the /assets/images folder.
But after upgrading to Expo 51 they don't show anymore.. while no code was changed :/
I also see it with the fonts that I now load in the new way.. no error, but they are also not used in the app itself even I call it correctly. I'm lost and can't really find something that was changed in my code or in the upgrade steps.

[
INDEX]
By the time we made it to Doc Roberts, my battery was sitting at 230/1560 and I was feeling like flattened shit.
Doc Roberts was an older gentleman, with wisps of white hair ringing his mostly bald head like a halo and a turkey neck held in place by a shoestring tie. His office was in his house and featured various anatomical posters on the walls along with a selection of instruments that could be mistaken for medieval torture devices. The posters showcased the innards of Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and other races with little notes indicating the various different organs. It was fascinating to see the differences between the races, the way they were all similar, but contained fundamental differences. Dwarves have two livers and two spleens, by the way.
“You got a hell of a constitution, boy,” Doc said, handing me a vial of cherry-scented liquid that burned like bad whiskey going down. While my wound had healed and I wasn’t bleeding anymore physically, my guts still hurt something fierce. A few seconds after draining the vial my battery stopped bleeding points, leaving me with 180/1440. “Pretty sure you got shot in the liver, which is a death sentence for most. You shoulda died ten minutes ago by my reckoning.”
Silas cocked an eyebrow at me, but said nothing.
“What I owe you Doc?” I said, mentally grabbing my wallet in a death grip. Medical was never cheap, even in a fantasy world.
“Thirty silver for the elixir, 5 for me,”
“Can I buy one of those elixirs from you?” I asked.
“Certainly,” he said, reaching into a cabinet for a vial of the vile substance.
“Neat trick, that” he said when I pulled the coins from my inventory. “The towers don’t reach this far out. Silvertown is in a dead zone. Town’s been petitioning them wizards to build one for years now, but with the mine drying up, they don’t want to invest.”
“Definitely a trick to it,” I said, rising from the table and doing a buck-naked quick change back into my Bounty Hunter outfit, which had been cleaned and pressed while in my inventory. “Thanks for everything, I’m feeling a lot better now.” Which was true. My guts had settled and felt bruised instead of like they were filled with liquid fire.
“What prompted you to go after those other two?” Silas asked as we walked back to the inn. Night was rapidly approaching, shadows deepening as the last of the sunlight faded behind the mountains.
“Opportunity presented itself and I took advantage,” I said. “You think there are more around?”
“I have no doubt,” Silas said. “Sleep with one eye open tonight.”
I nodded, wondering how I was going to manage that. I was exhausted, bone tired, and wanted nothing more than to sink into a comfortable bed and sleep like the dead.
I could barely keep my eyes open through dinner, which was a thick steak and some sort of asparagus-like vegetable. Silas insisted that I eat the heavy meal because I needed to replace the blood I’d lost. All I know is that it was the best damn steak I’d eaten in a long time and I was surprised when the last piece had vanished off my plate.
Upstairs, I snuffed out the magic rock-light on the wall and lay on the bed for a few minutes fighting sleep before rising and rolling the blankets into the semblance of a human figure and propping myself up in the corner of the room. I figured I would have a good shot at anyone that came through the door. After ten minutes of misery I finally had a grand idea.
Opening the window, I stepped onto the balcony and eased my way to the corner of the building and then shimmied down the post to the ground. A minute later I was in the stable with Horse and getting comfortable for the night.
“Wake me if anything interesting happens,” I said, rolling up in my blanket and dropping straight to sleep.
[Enter Dreamland? Y/N] Hells no.
Horsey thoughts nudged me from my sleep, filling my mind with the image/scent of a dozen other horses that had arrived nearby. My inner clock read 4:18am and my battery was up to 710/1440. I was only feeling half dead instead of 95% dead.
I swapped the unprimed bullets in my pistol with primed Lightning, taking heed of my talk with Silas earlier yesterday. I was shooting to kill, because sure as anything these men intended to shoot me dead.
I left the stable door open and mentally instructed Horse to be ready for action. He sent an image of me stepping in a Horsey-pie.
A waning moon greeted me as I eased out of the stable, activating [Stealth] as I approached the front of the building. Shadows draped around my shoulders like a cloak while some innate sense pushed me towards the thickest patches of darkness. My boots were nearly silent on the ground, each foot placed in time with the nervous shifting of the horses only a few dozen yards away now. Snatches of conversation reached my ears.
“…bastards roughed up John and Saul pretty good…”
“…we’ll take the kid, ya’ll get the old man…”
I counted ten horses, six with riders. The front door of the inn opened with a loud click, prompting me to begin a countdown. It should take them about 20 seconds to reach the second floor.
When my mental sandglass ran out, I signalled Horse. He burst from the stables in a gallop, passing by the outlaws with a loud neigh that shattered the stillness of the night. Hands went to their guns as their heads jerked around, their eyes following the riderless horse as it ran hellbent for leather.
Lightning erupted from my gun, followed by an explosive thunderclap, utterly ruining my night vision. And theirs.
One down, five to go.
They fought to control their horses while I fired off another round, lightning arcing through the air to impact another target as I shifted position. Moments later a hail of metal bullets and kinetic bolts impacted the spot I had just vacated. Just three to go now.
All hell broke loose upstairs, the sound of gunfire and shattering glass impacting my ringing ears. I sent instructions to Horse and quickly fired off the remaining four rounds in my gun, ejecting the brass as I darted to a new patch of shadows. One of the horses screamed in agony as it went down, trapping the rider under it.
Horse came barrelling up the road and shoulder checked one of his brethren, causing it to toss its rider. [Aimed Shot] slowed time for two seconds while I focused on the remaining man and sent a stone bullet into his chest.
Scurrying from the shadows I plugged the two downed men with a Kinetic Bolt to the chest, shattering their ribs. The front door of the inn burst open and I spun like a ballet dancer, releasing a Kinetic Bolt into the face of another bandit as he set foot on the threshold. His head jerked, neck bent at a lethal angle as he was tossed into the man behind him. I heard three shots ring out in succession, then quiet settled on the street.
“You out there Vinnie?” Silas called out from inside.
“Yup. I made a bit of a mess.” I called back.
Silas stepped out the door, gun drawn, his eyes scanning the surroundings before reloading faster than I could blink and holstering the pistol.
I sent happy vibes to Horse for a job well done. He ignored me and walked back to the stables, sending an image of molasses and oats before he gripped the door with his teeth and pulled it closed.
“Interesting animal you have there,” Silas said, watching horse close the door.
“You have no idea,” I replied.
I triggered [Disassembly] on the last bandit, watching as he dissolved in a cloud of multicoloured motes leaving behind Valuables. This time there were two gold teeth included in the process. I reached down and plucked the mana stone from the ground then handed it to Silas. Gathering up the pile of coins, I added them to my inventory. It had been a profitable night, with each of the bandits I dropped providing 200 credits and a total of 58 silver along with a handful of copper and brass.
John and Saul were among the dead, startling me with their presence. I gave the Sheriff some serious stink eye over that and he actually managed to look ashamed for a moment.
Silas had a Materials wand that he used to disassemble his kills while I used [Disassembly], giving a vague explanation that I had purchased the skill from a Tower. Truth was I didn’t want to risk losing hard earned credits. If the System was going to let me double-dip, I wanted to take full advantage.
Sheriff Hugo and Doc Roberts watched as we went about the grim task of reducing the bandits to dust, collecting the mana stones that were left behind and dropping them into separate pouches. “I’ve received three from you,” He said to Silas, voice rough with aggravation. “And five from you. You’ll get credit for these two men once Doc gets them patched up. Stop by the office after you finish breakfast, there’s paperwork to be done.”
The eastern sky was painted with a brilliant palette of orange pastels and deep blues before everything was settled and Hugo released us under our own recognisance. We filed back into the inn, dodging a sleepy teenage boy who was mopping up the floor.
“You busted my place up pretty good,” Blyton complained from behind the bar.
“It sometimes happens when I receive unexpected visitors,” Silas answered
“He managed to keep it outside,” the innkeeper said, pointing at me.
Silas clapped me on the back, grinning. “That he did, and he did a fine job of it too.”
“He did a fine job waking up all of creation with those Lightning rounds,” Blyton muttered, causing Silas to chuckle in agreement.
Scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, grits and beans in a heavy tomato sauce was the breakfast served, making me homesick for a long moment. Grandpa used to serve beans with breakfast. I lost myself in the memory of quiet mornings as a young boy, swinging my legs from a chair too big for me as he sipped coffee and stared out the kitchen window.
“We should get going,” Silas said, prodding me out of my introspection. “It’s already a long day and it’s only going to get longer.”
The trip to the sheriff’s office was uneventful and we arrived to find Sheriff Hugo elbow deep in paperwork. He motioned for us to have a seat.
“That’s 325 silver for you,” he said, pushing two gold and twenty-five silver to Silas, along with three sheets of paper. He pushed a stack of coins in my direction along with five sheets of paper. “And 650 for you.”
The paperwork was a declaration that we had killed the bounty and delivered their mana stone to local law enforcement for processing. I suppose I’ll be seeing this a lot in the future.
“The Patriarch wants to see you,” Hugo said once we’d finished signing everything, pushing a fancy envelope with a broken wax seal across the desk. “You’ve stirred up a mess of trouble here.”
“Can’t stir up trouble if there’s no trouble to be found,” I said, watching Silas place the envelope in his jacket pocket. “I killed two messes of trouble that were locked up tight in your cells. Care to explain how that trouble got loose?
“They were bailed out by the Hand of the Patriarch,” Hugo snarled, pointing at the door.
We took our cue and left.
“I can’t help but notice that there’s some funny business going on,” I said as we rode the half mile to the fortified mansion of Silvertown’s Patriarch, Lord Mathies Jurgens.
“Don’t need a bounty sense to figure that out,” Silas agreed. “I just can’t put my finger on exactly what it is. Everyone in town is tight-lipped.”
“So how much trouble are we in, being sent to the Patriarch?” I asked, only a little worried about our destination.
Silas shrugged. “Not as much as you’d think, since we’re appearing before him as free men and not in chains.”
I began asking questions rapid-fire and Silas did his best to answer them, humouring my ignorance because I was ‘a foreigner from Albion’.
As he explained things, I tried to wrap my head around the concept of independent city-states ruled by a Patriarchal dictator with absolute power. It wasn’t a monarchy, like in Albion or Arcadia, nor was it a federation of states like Colonia. It was barely controlled chaos in my eyes.
Each Patriarch was sponsored by another Patriarch, and in return they paid tribute in the form of taxes to their sponsor. They all shared a mutual defence and support pact, meaning that if one was attacked all would join in defence of their brother city. Over time several strong families had emerged to control the majority of the cities, including the Jurgens who were a minor but influential Family.
I gave up trying to grasp the simple complexity of the political and economic system, all I needed to know was that the rulers were called Lord, they held absolute power, and they appointed everyone to position, from the treasurer, to the town guards, to the city sheriff.
I also learned that misogny and racism were the flavour of the day. Women were second-class citizens, Elves and dwarves were grudgingly tolerated, goblins, orcs, and the other “lesser” races were killed or enslaved.
In a surprise twist, homosexuality wasn’t that big a deal. It was considered strange not to take a wife for procreational purposes, but having a male lover and a wife? Perfectly normal. Polygamy? Normal. A pantheon of Gods, including strong female goddesses? Of course. Women owning land or a business? Unheard of.
That was for Citizens, of course. Non-citizens were expected to have strange cultures, like the idea of equality in Colonia. Equality for male land owners, that is. No penis, no land, no vote. Arcadia was much more tolerant when it came to inclusiveness according to Silas. While their system was built around nobility and monarchy, it wasn’t strange for women to hold power, own land, or serve as equals in many endeavours.
Silas was homosexual, by the way. Or bisexual, whatever. He was a stereotypical Midlander. He had a male lover in Comstock who was raising his son. His wife had died in childbirth a few years ago and he just hadn’t found the right woman to replace her.
I had no idea what to say to that. You do you, Silas. I'm not going to judge.

2024.06.07 17:06 augustcs Clueless about AzureML job not working out
| Intro I have posted yesterday about this too. No one commented so I will try to be more elaborate here. Doubt anyone will comment here as well but here goes nothing. I am new with AzureML and I use it purely to train a model (YOLO). Nothing more and I want nothing less (we pay for a subscription). Forgive me for bad terminology. I use python (SDK in visual code) to make connection to the workspace, compute, environment and then to start a job in the cloud. I do what I always do and follow their tutorial to pass data to a job (using a local folder or blob folder). You can find the code I always use here. Given that I experience always some sort of problem with Azure, this works correctly most of the time. Currently, my dataset contains of a folder containing images, a folder with labels and a config (yaml) file (standard YOLO data). Problem This week once again I log in via the client, use the code to upload data and start a job. First it works normally (data is uploaded and a job is started), but there is an error in my training script. No worries, I fix the script and start over. But now I get clueless. I get (in my eyes) inconsistent errors: - I first get the 'BlobAlreadyExistsError' error (as well as 'ResourceExistsError'). I find this a strange error because everytime I run my command job, I see in the logs, as well as in the storage account, that the data is uploaded to a new BLOB folder. Nonetheless, I had this before and changing the job name then helped (following this GitHub topic). However, it didn't this time. When I google or search for this error ('AzureML job BlobAlreadyExists' or the like) I get absolutely zero relevant hits (one thing I hate with Azure problems). I read that one should 'allow overwrite', but I have no idea how to do that within a command job or AzureML context. I left it and tried the next day.
- The next day (today) somehow this error is gone. However, I get something new. This time I get '(UserError) CREATE can't modify existing entity, please use UPDATE'. Again, google this and I have still no idea what it wants me to do within the context of a command job. Anyways, I change the job name and this error is gone. So I tried again.
- Now I get the problem that the input data isn't accessible to the job (I use RO_MOUNT) ('streamerror'):
https://preview.redd.it/icgj82i2w55d1.png?width=1071&format=png&auto=webp&s=df534a8ec7b0036644ef8eb9ac7be9f4735d9454 https://preview.redd.it/agyzj928w55d1.png?width=1046&format=png&auto=webp&s=6485d9ff82c557627aa7792323bef6e28ee20efd I don't understand this, because the path to the data (InputOutputModes) is correct and everytime the data is uploaded to the Azure BLOB storage correctly. The paths I use is: - D:/main_foldesubfoldedataset_folder (when using local folder)
- wasbs://@.blob.core.windows.net/ (when using a BLOB folder, of course filling in the '<>' parts)
I can physically see that the data is there, either local or in BLOB storage (the account I am using has a co-administrator role): Screencapture of the data left in BLOB folder, right in locally Question What is going wrong? What do I need to do? I am obviously no cloud expert. I appreciate any answers. I can assist with further data. Thanks in advance! submitted by augustcs to AZURE [link] [comments] |

Here are the stories we plan to cover, time permitting:
Experts say new Windows AI feature could be a security ‘disaster’Microsoft is about to launch a new AI-powered Recall feature that screenshots everything a user does on their PC and allows them to search and retrieve anything in seconds. Recall is part of the new Copilot Plus PCs that are debuting on June 18. Security researcher, Kevin Beaumont, who helped test the feature, discovered that the feature stores data locally in plain text which could allow an attacker to use malware to easily extract the database and its contents. Further, Recall doesn’t hide sensitive info like passwords or financial account numbers in its screenshots. Microsoft points out that stored Recall information is encrypted using Bitlocker while stored locally. But that would only protect the data from theft from a physically stolen device. Beaumont said he’s withholding technical details to give Microsoft time to take action. The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office has also stepped in to make inquiries with Microsoft over its use of the AI-powered feature. (

Ticketmaster hack affects 560 million customers, third-party denies liabilityThe attack, which occurred on May 20, has been confirmed by its parent company, Live Nation, as having been the result of “unauthorized activity within a third-party cloud database environment containing company data.” A week later the threat actor ShinyHunters offered the data, which is alleged to contain PII and partial payment details of up to 560 million customers up for sale if a ransom payment of over $500,000 is not made. This is the same threat actor group who breached the Spanish bank Santander around the same time. Meanwhile, the third-party vendor in question, cloud storage provider
Snowflake has denied that its products were to blame for the Ticketmaster breach, or the Santander Bank, for that matter. According to a since- removed post on the website of security firm
Hudson Rock, “the intruders were able to sign into a Snowflake employee’s ServiceNow account using stolen credentials, and from there were able to generate session tokens,” however Snowflake, while acknowledging that a former employee’s demo account was accessed through stolen credentials, said it did not contain sensitive data, and that there was “no pathway for customers’ credentials to be accessed and exfiltrated from the Snowflake production environment.”(

HHS changes tack, allows Change Healthcare to file breach notifications for othersThis reversal from the Department of Health and Human Services is an update from an April 19 FAQ page that stated every organization affected by the Change Healthcare hack would have to file their own breach notices with federal and state regulators. This had apparently angered the staff of thousands of hospitals, clinics and doctor’s offices who are still working through the damage caused by the attack. The new statement, sent by Melanie Fontes Rainer, director of HHS’s Office for Civil Rights says, “affected covered entities that want Change Healthcare to provide breach notifications on their behalf should contact Change Healthcare. All of the required HIPAA breach notifications may be performed by Change Healthcare.” (

FBI says it has 7,000 LockBit ransomware decryption keysSpeaking at the 2024 Boston Conference on Cyber Security, Bryan Vorndran, assistant director of the FBI’s Cyber Division, said the agency is offering help to victims whose data was encrypted by the LockBit ransomware. The victims are encouraged to contact the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center. There have been more than 1,800 LockBit encryption attacks in the United States. (

3 billion records stolen from background check firmThe criminal gang named USDoD appears to be selling just under
3 billion records on nearly all US, Canadian, and British citizens for $3.5 million on a Dark Web forum. The data was allegedly stolen from Florida-based background check firm, National Public Data. It’s believed that USDoD is acting as a broker for the gang that actually stole the data (using the handle SXUL) which included full names, address history, social security numbers, and names of parents, siblings, and relatives. According to the VX-Underground team, there is a small silver lining, which is that “The database DOES NOT contain information from individuals who use
data opt-out services.” (

Utah student floods hackers with false info to thwart PhishingA Davis County high school junior, Charles Mortensen, developed a program dubbed VEGA (Victims’ Empowerment Guard against Attacks), which aims to take down phishing sites by flooding them with fake usernames and passwords. Mortensen said the program can send about half a million requests to a hacker site within a night, typically taking the site offline by the morning. Mortensen was motivated to create VEGA when a friend residing in foster care fell victim to an
Instagram phishing attempt, jeopardizing her only means of contacting her mom. Mortensen said VEGA has enabled him to take down thirty phishing sites within a month. He is seeking a sponsor to help him to scale the operation to potentially dismantle much larger volumes of phishing sites. (

US research using psychology against threat actorsThe Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity, IARPA, picked five research teams to look into threat actor behavior, hoping to boost cybersecurity measures by better understanding motives and possibly predict future actions. Roughly 150 people will work on the research, with teams from Raytheon, Peraton Labs, Charles River Analytics, SRI International, and GrammaTech. The teams will take different approaches, like monitoring security researchers for biases that could apply to threat actors and designing
fake networks to waste threat actors’ time. Program manager Kimberly Ferguson-Walter said threat actors routinely take advantage of known human biases, and defenders should attempt to do the same. (

EU Probes Microsoft 365 Education Over Privacy ConcernsThe European Union is investigating Microsoft’s education-focused suite after a non-profit privacy rights group filed two complaints over concerns about how the data from the Microsoft 365 Education platform was being used. The privacy campaign group, noyb, alleges that minors’ data is being processed unlawfully and the company is being “consistently vague” about how the children’s information is being used. Noyb also claims Microsoft installs cookies without consent to track user behavior, affecting thousands of EU and EEA students. Noyb argues schools are not in a position to comply with EU law’s transparency requirements or data access rights. In a statement to
TechCrunch, Microsoft said, “M365 for Education complies with GDPR and other applicable privacy laws.”
