Official 2023 Rexy WeatherTech and Le Mans Diecasts!
At long last, we can officially confirm that Top Speed, TSM, and Spark are now officially approved diecast makers for Rexy and that the models are now available for sale! Some sizes are available now, while we are still sorting details and agreements for other sizes and possible products.
Top Speed and TSM can be pre-ordered from their official websites and on site this weekend at Sebring from IMSAโ€™s official store. The Spark models can be purchased whenever Spark models are sold.
Our Hot Wheels toy car will be coming out later this summer!
๐Ÿšจ Please use caution when looking for Rexy models online. Itโ€™s important to us that Rexy and our fans donโ€™t get taken advantage of and purchase knockoff merchandise or give their private information to third-party vendors we canโ€™t vouch for.

2024.02.23 17:18 Dr_Wristy Motorsport space

Just had a free moment to think about what space I would love to sell in, based off my personal interests. I would love to hear if any of you have experience selling into or for an entity in Motorsport.
I currently work as full cycle AE in tech (back-end data management and syndication), and do well. Work from home, decent OTE, great culture, etc. So Iโ€™m not exactly in a hurry to find another job or industry, but the curiosity is there. I mean, why not? I have loved corporate sales since I found the career a few years ago (it just works with my personality/skill set. I definitely have the Mad Scientist/librarian dichotomy going on in my ADHD brain, and sales lets me scratch the itch.), and Iโ€™ve done well. Mostly due to my networking and collaborative skills. I donโ€™t rely on or push all the email sequencing, cold outreach angles as much as I see around here.
So โ€ฆ.. who sells to F1, WEC, IMSA, etc? Or works for a company that partners with the teams?
Thanks!
Edit: to clarify, Iโ€™d be comfortable in either the technical side or the business side. Iโ€™ve participated in my local racewayโ€™s club for years, and have a working knowledge of racecraft. But, marketing or IT angles would work as well.

2024.01.18 15:47 CookieMonsterFL [OFFICIAL] 2024 Rolex 24 @ Daytona - General Information + Camping & Meetup Thread

Hello all, welcome to the 2024 IMSA season! I'm here once again to bring you any extra info I know on the biggest race of the calendar - the Rolex 24 @ Daytona - specifically on attending the race live in-person!
This is a yearly repost that i've been doing for years to with help from your fellow redditors to give you as complete an FAQ on potential experiences as humanly possible. I'll be adding to it as anyone has any extra info that may be helpful, and as always will credit! 2022 proved to be FRIGID and gusty, with 2023 being much more mild and a little wet. 2022 saw lots of canopies and tents collapsed, and it was by far the harshest race I attended since Petit Le Mans in 2015. Fingers crossed we continue to get more favorable weather, but if you had to take anything away from 2022 or even 2017, keep an eye on the weather and temps and plan to dress accordingly!
I'm working through as many posts as I can find along with my own experience at the track to give you as complete a picture of what to expect at the track/experience altogether. Hear from fellow redditors on their advice and experience attending IMSA's biggest race of the year.
Putting this first, Daytona has their own reddit account: DISupdates. you should be able to get a response pretty quickly from them throughout the week.
PDF's for easy access during the weekend:

First, Meetup this year:
I'm thinking we meet up at the campsite or before a race for a picture/converse for a bit. Will have some swag and stuff for sale/giveaway too at the campsite including subreddit vinyl stickers, racing shirts, flags, and other memorabilia. We will be infield T3-4. Just look for the /WEC flags and signage and loud music coming from the site most likely..
If a campsite meetup, i'll suggest Saturday before or during the race - should have limited warm food for people and will have a large screen with the race on and a campfire to warm you up. Hot chocolate too will pair with whatever adult beverage you can think of..
If a pre-race meetup, i'd suggest Pilot Sport Challenge race. That may be a bit more tough as few like to show up to that, but throwing both out there.
2024 Specifically: Rain is expected, weather seems to be more on the mild side but keep it tuned to local forecasts for any and all updates
  • 2023 Weather: Had some light rain and breezy, but otherwise a very mild weekend. Sunday ended up being warm enough to hit our group with sunburns. Typical Rolex 24 weather; changes every year.
  • 2022 Weather: Weather is going to get chilly Friday through Sunday morning. Lows nearing or below freezing in relative temps. Daytona is notorious for wind coming off the Atlantic and even on good days you usually get a decent breeze. I expect the chilly weather to bring in some strong winds at times. This combined with high humidity makes wind chill way more of a factor; you WILL get cold. Forecast also calls for rain Thursday and parts of Friday so things will be damp leading into the cold snap. If camping, keep your clothes and extra blankets not used in the car staying dry. Swap out halfway through the weekend and hang the blankets to dry and air out for reuse. Keeping things dry is extra important. Bring rain-gear. Bring cold-weather gear. Also, plan for warm-meals or ways to get them - snacks are great, but a hot meal will feel invigorating especially on Saturday night.
  • Full field of cars on the entry list. Being this crowded on track can potentially result in a few full course yellows. Don't be surprised to see quite a few hours of the race under caution. If in the infield, be mindful of safety vehicles as they tow or carry cars back to the paddock. Have seen a few awkward moments last few years with people not realizing the use of race-related vehicles on those roads.
  • COVID Protocols: Daytona are going to go with the same lite-COVID protocols in terms of entry - I doubt they may but they could ask if you've been in contact with anyone in 14 days with COVID, traveled, etc. No other requirements or statements i've seen beyond business as usual.
General pointers/tips/hints from redditors:
On bringing folding chairs to the race itself:
  • Bringing folding chairs isnโ€™t really worth it at Daytona. - 4-for-4
  • There are bleachers alongside the exit of the international horseshoe and down in the western horseshoe. - cwhisler
On parking at the track:
  • Daytona is the one track I've been to where they can be (jerks) and are strict about rules.... WGI is like a free for all once inside and nobody will ever say a word to you... Daytona is not like that... They will tow your car if parked wrong, they will deny you entry without a blink of the eye if you have an illegal item in the stands... They don't play - Pirate-Odd
  • I always park in T4. It's an easy walk from the infield to get out there and it is also easy access to the grandstands. I've done infield parking multiple times before but the ease of getting in/out of the T4 parking is far more beneficial to me. I missed the race this year for the first time in almost 10 years, but in 2020 they were charging to park across the street as well. That's a walk that is not even worth considering if you want to go back to the car for refills on food/drinks - jesseshoots
  • There is preferred parking right at the tunnel trams, it's pricy, but you'll find a spot. Also get there early, we almost missed the start this year because of jow long it took us to get into the track to part at turn 3. - HarringtonMAH11
  • 2024: Lot4 Parking Sold out early in the year, markups are already a thing for this, mall/overflow parking is now the way to go if you don't already have a plan. 2023: Parking for lot 4 sold out last month, if you do not have a place to park, DIS has said they will be opening up an overflow lot somewhere. There is also talk of the NASCAR admin center's parking area being used as overflow. Will update closer to the race with more info on where to park if you do not already have a pass.
  • Just a heads up. Used to be a massive parking lot behind Bass Pro (Daytona One). Most of it is fenced in construction for a Costco. Some of the lot is still there but itโ€™s a quarter of what was. - isthisf1
On nearby stores for resupplying the campsite/RV:
  • There is a walmart nearby plus a bass pro shop across the street of the track. - IndecisiveRock
  • There is preferred parking right at the tunnel trams, it's pricy, but you'll find a spot. Also get there early, we almost missed the start this year because of jow long it took us to get into the track to part at turn 3. - InvisibleTeeth
Weather:
  • Prepare for all 4 seasons. It's been warm and sunny and it's also been rainy and 33F. Everyone always thinks Florida is warm, but the Rolex is always a crapshoot. - info2x
  • Bring a good rain coat and an extra pair of socks. I think the weather at the 2017 and 2019 Rolex 24s are going to be in the memories of those who went for some time. - JA_37_Viggen
  • Iโ€™ve done full overnight with minimal gear, and quite frankly, was miserable. Something about 45 degrees in that part of Florida being the coldest 45 degrees I have ever experienced. I think you would have fun alone, but i would have a plan to be able to retreat to your car and catch a few Z's. Make use of the golf carts to get you around, it's sort of like Uber at the track, just remember, drivers rely on tips to make money. You can cover a lot of ground with them. - SqueakyCleany
Best Viewing Spots/Times:
  • Lots to do before the race. Manufacturers tents for free swag, grid walk and there will be cars on the track leading up to race. Good paddock access with a pass and you can be right outside the garages. - sandyman15
  • A must see is getting up early and watching the sunrise from the top of the grandstands, It is amazing. The fire works are pretty good and you must take a ride on the ferris wheel while the race is going on. - greggruver96
  • You have time to watch from everywhere that you may want to watch from. I opted to not sleep for the first one I went to. I wonโ€™t do that again but to each their own. Watching race start from the stands isnโ€™t abnormal because you can sit down by turn 1 and get a great view of the field through the infield. There are a handful of bleachers in the infield but otherwise not a lot of seating... I really like the view in the middle of the night from the absolute top of the grandstands. Super cool to see the whole track at once with all the lights. - Zowwiewowwie
  • Bring a backpack and just use that. Also keep in mind they may limit what you can bring inside the main front stretch grandstands so get familiar with the track rules on their website and adhere to them. - Pirate-Odd
  • Upper deck grandstands near Turn 1 (end of the pits) is my favorite place to watch the start and all of Sunday. You can see the entire track unobstructed, have a TV, and scoring tower right in front of you. Plus covered area with bathrooms and concessions in case the weather sucks. - BillyG8r
  • If youโ€™re in the grandstands, right where the cars brake and start the infield portion of the course is a great area to watch. You can also watch them exit the infield and start onto the banks from the same spot. The infield has great bleachers and fences you can stand near. Pretty much anywhere along the infield is a good spot to watch. Also there is so much to do, simply exploring the grandstands and all the exhibits can take hours. But there are usually manufacturer tents that display cars and hand out shirts and posters. The grid walk is also insane so donโ€™t miss that before the race. - declanwigand
  • Iโ€™ve flown down and camped before. But thatโ€™s been renting a van or SUV, throwing an inflatable mattress pad in the back and sleeping in a sleeping bag. There are compact tents you can fit in a suitcase too, if youโ€™d rather go that route. Then you can pick up the little things youโ€™d need from a local Walmart or the target across the street. - [deleted]
  • If you see anyone sitting in a golf cart along the fence of the turn 3 (international horseshoe) brake zone it's worth asking if the mind if you stand on the back of their cart for a couple of minutes to get some shots. Most people are pretty nice; I know I've let people do it in the past in exchange for them sending me a couple of shots of my favorite car. You should be able to get a clear shot over the fence as the cars brake/downshift going into 3. At night you can get some awesome photos with the ferris wheel lit up in the background. - ApexDavidP
  • This entire thread
Daytona's Strict Pass Policy:
  • >After finishing my corner working last shift, I decided to join my friends in the grandstand. They wouldnโ€™t let me in the grandstand because of โ€œgo anywhereโ€ pass from working corners didnโ€™t say grandstand. - SqueakyCleany
[[IMPORTANT grandstand will restrict heavily what you bring in and if you are camping you will have to leave it at the exit area near the entrance to the escalators. Had to leave my umbrella there and lost it two years ago when it was soggy all weekend. A pain in the butt if you don't know.]]
General Advice:
  • Ludicrous_Speed's AMA for Rolex 24
  • Don't knock the MX-5 race on Thursday either. The MX5 race is probably the best one of the weekend (all of the other races are fantastic too!) - allthingsvw
  • Get inside early on Saturday. Go to the Fanzone! Get the free poster and cut in line for all the autographs! - LocknDamn
  • Bring a sharpie to sign the track. Be prepared to walk. A lot. Like a lot a lot. Last time we went we missed the night races because we passed out from walking so much. - Whitetiger9876
  • I'll keep it short. If you intend to make it through the night, bring blankets, earmuffs, and a winter jacket. You're welcome:) Definitely worth it though! - dannytr1
  • Bring warm clothes for the night and morning. It's usually cold and always windy. - thecaveman1974
  • Good local Seafood: "Hull's Seafood in Ormond." - artificialstuff
  • Don't be a hero, the shuttle bus is your friend. That said, wear good shoes because you will be walking a lot. As others have said, be prepared for all sorts of weather - hot, cold, wet, wind, you'll see it during the 24 hours. Don't forget hearing protection - not everyone wears it, but it gets loud. - Moose135A
  • Uhaul advertises that Ford Transit vans for $19.95 per day. 2 people could easily fit in the back and if you all like each other you might fit 4! - BlackLabDumpster
- randyrandomagnum
  • Warm Clothing including a winter jacket, Rain Gear, Sunscreen, Ear plugs, a couple pairs of sneakers, fresh socks, cash, Auxiliary battery for phone. - Mallen010
  • Also just wander around. A lot of the manufacturers have tents/trailers where you can check out their cars and usually have shirts and stuff to give away. Itโ€™s a nice way to get free souvenirs. Iโ€™ve got quite a collection of Cadillac and Corvette shirts from there! Also, do some research in the days leading up to the race as many teams have meet and greet opportunities. Spending time in the garage is a must. - brewhawaii
  • CLEAR OUT A SPACE FOR THE WASTE TRUCK. Last Road Atlanta we almost had to move our entire campsite and cars to get the waste truck access to the RV. - CookieMonsterFL
  • Bring a step stool. Also, come by 304 in the west horseshoe. Ask for Eddie. We have a platform. fence will be in photos. - Eddie_Shark
  • The Daytona track wifi isn't good enough but I have streamed the race the last 3 years using my phone's hot spot on ATT. - Inflatable_Catfish
  • There's a shower trailer right in the campground, if you're cool with that. They got pretty gross and unkempt by Sunday, though...I camped there last year, and again this year, and I had no worries of safety at my campsite. Everyone around was nice. - 4G63Touareg
  • EAR PLUGS is a must. I wear mine even at night while the race is going on. - greggruver96

2023.12.29 23:12 FutureTea3315 Expected attendance for 2024 Rolex 24

Has anyone heard any projections from IMSA or other trustworthy source on the ticket sales/projected attendance for 2024? It was much busier than I ever remember it being last year, and I'm expecting it to be even more crowded this year, but I didn't know if the spike in attendance was expected to be temporary due to the initial excitement for the new GTP regulations. It seems like accommodations are still available at decent prices, so it made me wonder if my personal thoughts on attendance may be incorrect.

2023.12.27 12:17 Cookiecuttermaxy With Nascar declining in the US, are other motorsport franchises starting to take void of NASCAR?

F1 right now is as glamorized as the NFL, I never seen so many people out in the open wearing F1 merch
Imsa and WEC are somewhat starting to also make waves in popular culture, great example being the Gran Turismo movie, is about GT racing as the name implies
Don't even get me started on professional drifting
MotoGP, not too sure, but I do know they recently saw a 20% increase in spectators at COTA
I guess then Nascar failed to maintain its charm and appeal due to the over commercialization and lack of automotive sponsorship
F1 is also going the route of Nascar for the older fans, but ratings and sales speak louder than quality at certain times
Indycar is stagnant in the ratings I believe
What does everyone think?

2023.12.16 17:46 236Point986MPH Some perspective for those freaking out

  1. This series is going into it's 113th season with the 500 in it's 108th edition. It's been through two world wars, multiple pandemics, a world wide economic depression, multiple major economic downturns, the loss of AAA, two major splits, etc, and is still here. As long as the 500 exists, the series will exist.
  2. It might not look in ten years like it does today. Guess what? Go back over ten years ago and it looked different than it does today, just like 1996 looked different than it did in 1986, or 1966, or 1956, etc., etc.
  3. Just a few years ago the chief complaint was the schedule not being stable. They stabilize it and bring back some former open wheel staples like Road America and Portland, now Milwaukee and the complaint is we aren't pulling Las Vegas and Chicago street races out our ass and moving the calendar around enough? Your putting the series in a no win situation with this constant moving of the target on schedules. Not to mention, the series is in a tough situation on scheduling ovals being that NASCAR and SMI own a supermajority of those the series would run on, never mind it's apparently now OK to move dates around being that NASCAR is doing it(which is creating scheduling issues as well)
  4. Engine suppliers come and go and some come and go multiple times. Honda giving ultimatums shouldn't be shocking to anyone who pays attention. The prancing horse does this shit every time a new agreement comes up. If Honda leaves it wouldn't not be the first time that this series has has only one OEM or one OEM supplying the majority of engines. In fact, I'm looking at the lineup for the 1960 500 and every engine is an Offenhauser.
  5. Honda might want something, Honda might leave, Honda might stay. It's not the first time they've complained about things, it's not the first time they pushed for something then turned around and complained about it. They were complaining about costs and a need to push to hybrid back when the Bull Rider guy was running things. And based on that response by Chevy they might have busted up some good will and overplayed their hand with that out in the open bitch session. See, open session bitch sessions don't work in the real world like some of you think it does. It can work against you, make you lose in the long run, and make you out to be the bad guy. BTW, look up who pushes a high volume of Honda sales in this country........that wasn't smart on HPD's part.
  6. RP, Miles, and Frye didn't get where they are at by being stupid. In fact, MP has defended the later two in his mailbag. RP also didn't get where he was at by bankrupting his businesses and/or filling a hole with his own money or money shifted from other ventures. He made it by making all businesses stand on their own, just like he is doing with IC. It's unrealistic to think that in 4 years with all of those years in a pandemic or dealing with the economic and supply impacts of that pandemic that he would take a business that doesn't have F1 and NASCAR money and has been neglected since at least 1996 and have it up there with F1 and Cup.
  7. Complaining about the money he has pumped into IMS not going to the rest of the series is utterly stupid. All of the stuff he has done there was long over due and wasn't done because the HG family simply didn't have the resources to do it. Just like Daytona for NASCAR and IMSA, IMS is the home and business home for IndyCar. It has the highest volume of eyeballs on it than anywhere it goes, it's the place where you make first impressions for a ton of people, it's the money maker. It simply can't look like shit and needs to be taken care of before moving on to the rest.
  8. Having NASCAR or Liberty buy this isn't going to go down the way many of you here think it will.

2023.10.13 02:25 jcforbes Shout-out to Cy and Susan Jary on their final IMSA event as Aston Martin support

Shout-out to Cy and Susan Jary on their final IMSA event as Aston Martin support
Little known and oft overlooked heros of the paddock: The support trailers for the teams. Aston Martin sales, support, parts supply, and often emotional support has been handled under contract by racing superfans Cy and Susan Jary (CSJ Motorsports) since 2019. CSJ were racing superfans who, through other successful business, were supporters of young upcoming drivers and through sponsorship of a driver they ended up in a team hospitality where they overheard a conversation about Aston Martin seeking bids for a new US arm. Cy was elated to find out that he could possibly get paid to go to races and be part of the action, so he put in a bid... Which he won.
Since then Cy and Susan have been a staple of the paddock. They are by far the most dedicated and personable manufacturer reps in both IMSA and SRO. Their passion for the sport has been a major, major, factor in the success of AMR in the US. When you are thrashing to fix a wrecked car most manufacturers will stop by your trailer at 6pm on their way to dinner and check if you need something, warning that they are leaving and to see them in the morning. Cy will cruise up on his golf cart and sit there until he's certain that you are able to get on track. On more than one occasion I've been laying on the ground in the rain at midnight digging into a problem and Cy is laying there with me holding the flashlight and telling me from memory exactly which of these items he has in stock and which we need to bang back into shape. And he brings jelly beans for dinner.
Cy and Susan have unfortunately lost the contract. AMR found someone that would do the job cheaper and dropped them without warning, without feedback, and without a counter offer.
This weekend when you are in the paddock and you see these wonderful people shake their hand and tell them thank you for keeping the races going; without them being awesome at their job countless cars wouldn't have made it to the grid on time.

2023.09.13 02:02 b00gie_larry Sebring Raceway reserved parking

Iโ€™ve been all over the website for IMSA and Sebring racewayโ€ฆ and canโ€™t seem to find where to purchase reserved parking near the track. Is that something I can purchase there ? Is parking inside the gates only available to purchase there ? Or can it be purchased in advance ? I have never been so excuse my ignorance โ€ฆ. Will GA parking let you park and camp near the track?
Also, I am aware tickets donโ€™t go on sale until Oct โ€ฆ just trying to be ready.
Thanks in advance!

2023.08.16 19:19 Decent-Annual-508 I have solved all your problems

Edit. As I mentioned to a couple people below, I copy pasted this in from my notes and it ate my formatting alive. I hate that kind of mess too, and I should have checked first. I was bored in a zoom meeting and had this list for a while, so I posted it and went back to work. Hopefully the formatting is fixed now, it looks correct on the mobile app.
How to โ€œfixโ€ NASCAR (Part 1-The Cars and Pits)
1. Replace the splitter with a valence 2. Rip off the side skirts 3. Raise the rear quarter panels 4. Rip off the shark fin 5. Raise the Rear Bumper Covers 6. Mandate the valance be 2โ€ off the ground. If your tires arenโ€™t flat the valence shouldnโ€™t be on the ground. If it is youโ€™ll be parked. 7. Replace the spoiler with a 2โ€ spoiler at a 45 degree angle 8. No tapered spacers. ~900 hp 9. Non Branded Common Engine as an option. Dynoed to average of OEMs 10. Mandatory chassis sale rules. Full rolling chassis (minus shocks and springs) for any team may be purchased by another for a set value. $100k for argumentโ€™s sake. You may build a $300k car if you want, but any team may buy it at their discretion for $100k. 11. Mandatory pit equipment sales (same principles as 10 above) 12. Live pit stops at all cup events, and all non-companion Truck and Xfinity events. No more renting out cup pit crews 13. Uncontrolled tire rule is gone. Unless it rolls across pit road its controlled 14. No telemetry off the cars other than speed 15. Plate tracks retain their plates. 16. Wicker bill at plate tracks 17. Truck and xfinity can lock bumpers all they want 18. No more damaged vehicle policy 19. Debris that causes a caution will be displayed at the media center post race 20. Group qualifying reinstated at non plate tracks (End Part 1. Part 2-The Tracks) 21. Atlanta, Vegas, Kansas, Phoenix and Richmond all lose 1 race. 22. For the tracks listed above, the remaining race will be run as 4-5 smaller sprint races over the course of raceday. Field inversions and ballast additions a lรก British Touring Cars to apply 23. Trucks and Xfinity have a grand total of 5 races each as companion events for cup series, not including season opener and finale. Companion events with other series (F1, Indycar, IMSA are encouraged 24. The 5 lost Cup dates mentioned above will be replaced by a combination of: Road America, Iowa, Rockingham, Eldora, Laguna Seca, and Montreal 25. Truck and Xfinity schedules will replace the lost companion events with a variety of short tracks, road courses and dirt tracks. Including those listed above, suggestions: Hickory, Langley, North Wilkesboro, Five Flags, Nashville Fairgrounds, Knoxville, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Portland, IRP, Long Beach, St Petersburg etc etc (End Part 2. Part 3- The Broadcast) 26. STOP SCREAMING. Unless someone is upside down or on fire there is no reason to yell 27. Stop telling me how safe it is. See Ken Squier for more information 28. Have a play by play, and analysts. The analysts combined should fill 30% of the broadcast, the rest is the PBP 29. Sometimes the pictures speak for themselves. Dead air is okay. If you have nothing to add, shut it 30. Be objective. Unless someone is dead or hurt its not a shame theyโ€™re out of contention. No cheering unless its your kin. 31. In Car Cameras are for replays only, stay with wide angle shots for the rest of the race 32. Donโ€™t Bullshit. If the crowd is awful, donโ€™t say its great. People have eyes 33. Know how to say the driversโ€™ names. If you talk for a living you should be able to talk well 34. No putting on accents. Talk as you normally would. French names and places donโ€™t need a ridiculous accent. Nor do Hispanic or English or German or Asian or Southern. Stop it. 35. Donโ€™t show more than a glance at spouses/family. Show the race. We can see Kim Burton or Samantha Busch or Bill Elliott or whoever after the race. 36. Grid walks are dumb, lose them 37. Do not talk over the PBP man 38. Break into commercials if there is an accident 39. Donโ€™t waste side by side coverage on caution laps 40. Show the best battle in the field. I donโ€™t care if its for 30th. Put side by side cars on track 41. Know the name of the officials in the flagstand. Use them 42. Know the names of pit crew members. Use them 43. Know the names (if possible) of the pilots doing the flyover. Use them

2023.08.03 01:42 Medical_Customer_613 Pit/Paddock Passes for IMSA Battle On The Bricks

Attended the SRO Indy 8 Hour last year and was blown away by the access I was able to get. Paddock passes completely changed the experience.
Considering attending the IMSA event at Indy but canโ€™t find any information online about paddock or pit passes. Iโ€™ve emailed sales@brickyard.com but havenโ€™t received a reply.
Does anyone know if itโ€™s possible to purchase paddock or pit passes for IMSA events?

2023.07.05 11:08 _-D3ranged-_ Which cars to pick/buy for Motorsports?

F1 and Formula e
Do I get a discount sale after 100% completion of exhibition? Same qn goes for Formula E. Also in the special events for each season, there are races where you can choose a car brand and earn a free car in the end. Should I choose the same brand for all of these challenges or switch it up? What are the best cars to choose? What do Drivers do and does their XP/training matter? Same goes for formula e.
GT4
Is there an exhibition discount sale after finishing the exhibitions?
Euro track masters/GT3/IMSA
Which cars from which category should I buy with M$? Should I buy any cars with Gold or save them for road collection? In road collection I am currently in PRO/AM.
Endurance Prototypes
I chose the same car for the Raceday special events and noticed that when it gets serviced, both events get affected by it. Is there a way to repick a car? Are there any other series that have the same concept and I should avoid choosing the same car?
Thank you all for your help

2023.05.21 11:29 m3tz0 Have you ever heard of the tragedy of Raceroom? I thought not , it's not a story they would tell you.

The real tragedy of sim racing is Raceroom Racing Experience. Or R3E as they often call it. That and the fact that no one is bloody racing on it. TL:DR in the end.
The simulation underwent massive physics and FFB changes 1-2 years ago. Pretty much every content creator that is somebody , covered it. This all coincided with the introduction of ranked racing servers that rotate between tracks and cars every week. Additionally , you've got hotlap competitions as well as ranked championships and special events that split based on rating much like any other ranked system out there. Effectively making it a valid alternative.
Critics of the sim have often brought up the dated graphics , when the truth is that environmental details such as foliage or people look way better than iRacing , the worlds most popular online racer. In which trees or barricades are paper cuts , but no one seems to mind.
The car detail is often on par with most of the other sims excluding high end graphics stuff such as ACC with Unreal or PC/AMS2 with Madness. It is only specific assets say wipers for example , that might be low res. Or mostly in the older cars , low poly steering wheels which is the exact same problem iRacing has with pre-rework vehicles such as the Mustang or the SRF before they were given new life.
Everyone and their mother knows how important sound is in a racing sim. We often choose what car we drive because it has a striking sound. Be it the rambling of the dragon ( V8 ) , the scream of the banshee ( V10 ) or whatever it is that tickles your fancy. Raceroom without a shadow of a doubt has the best engine sounds in the industry. The only exception being ACC simply because it also simulates stuff like suspension or chasis noise , which is very cool.
While almost all of the Raceroom tracks are NOT laser scanned , ( only one that is laser scanned is Nords ) every track is crafted meticulously and with great care , resulting in non existent driving differences. You don't see vastly different lap times or vastly different driving behaviours between similar cars. Say a GT3 car at Silverstone in ACC and in Raceroom.
Raceroom is full to the brim with high quality licensed and officially endorsed content such as the WTCC , ADAC or DTM. And it includes historical versions too. Cars that you may never dream of getting in iRacing or any other similar simulator , Raceroom has them and does them well.
Stuff like the wet dream that is the M1 Procar , historic DTMs , NSU , and so on and so forth. At the same time for the lovers of the more popular machines such as GT3 and Formula 1 Raceroom once again offers relevant solutions that matter. And since I mentioned TCWTCC , iRacing seems to have quite a few people who enjoy the class including me. But iRacing emulating the IMSA series , has a very limited selection of cars which are also often outdated ( as is the case with the Audi ). Raceroom on the other hand lets you play with the usual suspects ( Civic , Veloster , Elantra ) but also gives you access to Alpha Romeos , Peugeots , Volkswagens , Ladas , Volvos , the upgraded Audi etc.
In regards to the online , while it picked up some momentum a few years ago , the situation at the present is frankly depressing. The servers as well as the championships and the private leagues are all there! But nobody thinks to enter. ( Nobody as in not ENOUGH. There already is a small but established player base).
Besides the racing side , Raceroom offers a comprehensive User Portal , with detailed profiles with stat tracking as well as world wide leaderboards in which you can easily find users and see how you measure up against them.
Last but not least , critics of the sim often bring up the lack of day and night cycles as well as the absence of rain. Night I can absolutely understand irking you. But be a man and come clean , how many times do you choose to purposefully drive in the wet? Driving in the wet is as much fun as in real life. Meaning it's no fun at all. It's ridiculously dangerous and off-putting. And unless 9/10 people in here are endurance junkies , there really isn't a reason to hate the sim that much for not including rain.
Last but not least , I know after doing my research that Raceroom started a little bit crooked. Some users might have a sour taste either all the way back from its inception or more recently. Say 2017-2020 for instance. However , Raceroom as it is today , right now , is a valid simulation. Both fun and accurate. We often clown on AMS2 for how slide happy it is , and even ACC with its obsession with preassures often comes under scrutiny but in the end no one minds these criticisms. Why should Raceroom be any different?
Raceroom is free to play and you can try it right now without breaking the bank. Raceroom offers you the ability to test drive INDEFINITELY any vehicle available before you buy it. The beginner pack costs a measly 10 dollars and offers you access to some of the most popular vehicles and classes as well as a very decent selection of tracks. So from formulas to GT3 to simpler vehicles it's got you covered. And should you for whatever reason decide to buy the COMPLETE catalogue , you can buy the complete package for around 60 dollars at sale. How much do you need to own everything in iRacing?
THOUSANDS of dollars.
TL:DR :
Raceroom ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT deserve the abandonment by the sim racing community. Especially now , after so much improvement. The sim is built by competent coders and true racing and physics junkies which a simple visit on their forums will confirm. Presentation isn't ACC or AMS2 levels but is good enough , better than other alternatives.
And while the original assetto corsa or live for speed will forever be the low budget , high amount of fun choices , Raceroom sits in a spot that is comfortable for most of our wallets.
Why don't you come join the official Raceroom discord , have a discussion and get some racing done? You might like it.
