Many of us are keen to get a clearer picture of the matchups between Western and Eastern regions. So, I've done research to bring you a straightforward and comprehensive overview. 2024.05.14 09:24 SnooObjections2310 Dragon Tower is a hell for F2P/Low Spenders

Dragonforge trials are in my opinion the worst aspect of the game ever added in regards of time consumption.
The internet is filled with formations for every stage and for F2P users/low spenders, most of the formations will get you 2 stars.
So in order to progress to stage 6,7,8 you have to do manually hundreds of attempts every week (because you have heroes for 1 or 2 stars but not 3). And you know that formation "X" works because you did it last week and the week before.
The grinding is absolutely insane for people with underdeveloped dragon heroes. Why can't my progress of 2 stars be saved permanently? Why do I have to do the same thing over and over again - there is no different buff/debuff every week and the enemies stays the same as well.
Please Lilith, save my current progress at every level or at least add auto battle , so I can leave my phone for 2 hours and get the stage.

My most recent psychosis occurred due to a number of underlying reasons that I was dealing with over a 6-8 week period and was mostly delusional.
The lead up to it - I had just finished the largest engineering project that I had been working on for two years,. My wife and I were having a very difficult and stressful time, with disagreements all the time.
My body was yelling and screaming for help and I could feel it from deep down inside me. I went to see doctors and psychologists but it didn't do it for me.. A childhood friend then passed away and that tipped me over.. All of a sudden I was placing myself in my friends place and I had all these questions that I had for myself.
I took a few days off work in the hope that it would get better, however, as I returned I just felt exhausted and overcooked. That's when I started to lose it... Note that I wasn't doing any hard drugs at the time, nor was I drinking, but in that upleading week, I was having the occasional nitrous oxide (N20) cannisters.
I went to get my tarot cards read upon returning to work (first time). The lady who conducted the card reading told me to choose the cards when "I feel the energy above the deck".. I actually felt the cards drawing my hand closer to them. I received the following cards, all of which seemed were of major importance to me: (1) Stand your Ground, (2) Hope, (3) Foundation & Achievements, (4) Base Chakra, (5) The Waiting Game, (6) Third Eye Chakra, (7) Love Begins, (8) Spiritual Union, (9) Intuition, (10) Conquer & Defeat.
..That night I went for a walk, I saw a shooting star - it was the first time that I had seen one and was so beautiful. I rushed into tell my wife about the tarot cards and the shooting star.. we both broke down in tears. Later on that evening I would tune into Youtube, and learn more about finance, investing, life, philosophy and music - all of which were major interests in my life.
The next morning I woke up and got ready to go to work. I couldn't help myself but start crying when all of my songs came on. Notorious BIG - Juicy: "Born sinner, the opposite of a winner, remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner".. I had sardines for dinner growing up too, and I could literally taste my mothers sardine dish in my mouth while the song was playing... As I raced onto the highway, it felt as though I was so connected to everything. I rolled the windows down and felt the air around me...The number plates around me "8SAMA" - which I had a feeling that there was going to be a terrorist attack occurring in the not too distant future. "FX Silver" - I was speculating with precious metals back at that time and thought it was a sign that due to the terror attack, silver was going to increase in price. "IDK IDK" - I was listening to the song I don't know by Tion Wayne, Stormzy, etc. the night before my psychosis.. Everything around me was providing me with signs and nothing was a coincidence. It felt like I was enlightened or something?
I called my brother in the morning who lived abroad, he said that he was being overworked and stressed out. He wanted to head to New York for new years eve and I immediately told him not to go as something bad was going to happen. When I went back into the office, I felt as though there would be some kind of market correction before the terror event occured, so I tried to sell all of my crypto, the only problem was, when I entered all of my key seed phrases, one of them somehow disappeared and I could no longer access my crypto wallet. That was when everything cracked further.. I thought the government was onto me as I had put all the pieces of the puzzle together and started to warn people around me.
I grabbed my manager from the office and told him I needed to speak to them. I wanted to come clean with everything that had happened. During this time I felt at peace and in this blissful place. I was seeing visual signs of things from my past which were interacting with my present moment .. it felt like everything around me was staged. I came clean to the manager and told them that I had been struggling at work, and using drugs and alcohol to cope, I said that it also put so much strain on my relationship and my wife was going to leave me. At this time it felt like the police had wire tapped my manager and everything I was saying was going on record. I was trying to outsmart him with every question that they had for me and it was like I was playing 4d chess in my head. We spent close to 2.5 hours talking about my situation -at every stage I was waiting for when the popo were going to pop out and arrest me.
My wife had been contacted and came to pick me up. She took me back home, but while I went home I thought that our house had been bugged and wired. To me our neighbours were acting odd, and so many things were working in my head, I just didn't know how to relax and calm down. The next day I was taken to my parents place, and I initially started by doing a little bit of exercise, I still felt as though the police were after me and I had something to prove to the world. I then had a panic attack, where I legitimately felt as though I couldn't breathe, my wife and family rushed me to the emergency department at the hospital, and I was met with a psychiatrist who put me on a large dose of antipsychotic medication. Don't know where I'd be without my wife to support me through everything.
I then came back and rested. Slowly but surely I started to realise that I had just experienced a psychotic episode that lasted for several days. Following this event, I had a major depressive episode, which took months for me to recover, and approximately one year later I am in a better place mentally, but I am still not 100 %.
It turns out I have a family history of this sort of bullshit that nobody told me about, and being exposed to drugs and alcohol would only increase the risk of any symptoms. I've been off all the drugs and attempting to stop alcohol, and live a more holistic, natural life. Let's see what happens. For anyone dealing newly dealing with it or in the process of recovering, it gets better. Keep your head up.

Now this is the first time I’ve tried to make a jjk oc AND have a cursed technique but if I’m being honest I really wanted a character with abilities to summon shikigami based on the game Okami and the brush gods in said game
Cursed technique: Celestial Body
The user has the ability to summon 12 shikigami based on the Asian zodiac signs. The user is only able to summon one at a time and each shikigami has its own unique abilities
(Upon “death” the shikigami do not die, however it does take a long time for them to regain enough strength / energy to be summoned, so if one falls during battle it will be unusable the rest of that day)
  1. Dragon: (ability: rejuvenation) the user can summon a large dragon. Upon summoning the user gets the ability to heal both themself and others as long as the shikigami is by their side. To heal the user must place a hand into the dragon as the shikigami transfers its energy into the injured. This shikigami takes the most as its both the biggest and in order to actually heal you have to use both your energy and the energy of the shikigami
  2. Rat: (ability: slash) can summons one or multiple rats. Due to this shikigamis small size they can be used in stealth missions as they can remain undetected as on their own they give off little cursed energy. While having multiple out the shikigami cannot use its ability but having just one gives the ability slash, the small Rodent of summoning its own divine weapon, a large sword capable of slashing through most everything. The shikigami is only able to use this 3 times in a row, before it runs out of energy needed to wield the sword
  3. Boar: (ability: bomb) summons a large boar capable of stampeding through groups of enemies. Its skin is the toughest out of the shikigami and as such can take more hits. The boar is able to spew a flint like substance from its nose that it can then ignite by scraping its hoofs to create sparks this creating explosives
  4. Rabbit: (ability: crescent) this shikigami gets more powerful depending on what stage the moon is, full being this shikigamis most powerful. The user is only able to summon one but when summoned the rabbit (which looks like a larger wild hare) is able to thump its foot to get the enemies attention (and locking it into its ability) and based on the moons phase the rabbit will make illusions to trick opponents. That can be a worst fear, a lost love, etc.
  5. Snake: (ability: water manipulation) upon summoning the snake the user can either make it large or small depending on what’s needed. The snake has the ability to expel water from its mouth in both fast jets and large bursts and manipulate as needed. The snake does have the ability to breathe underwater as well.
  6. Horse: (ability: gale) just like a normal horse this shikigami can be used as a means for transportation. Its ability allows it to create gusts of wind. When running it can create a tornado that it can then send into enemies. On command it can create smaller gusts as needed. If using as transportation every time the horses hoofs hit the ground it can let out a small burst of air causing them to run at increased speeds
  7. Roostephoenix/cockatrice: (ability: flame) a medium sized shikigami with the ability to produce flames from its feathers and breathe fire. When flying it can ignite itself at will and burn through its enemy. This shikigami however is weak to water and if its feathers get wet it can no longer ignite itself and loses the ability to fly.
  8. Sheep: (ability: fog) when this shikigami is summoned it appears drunk, stumbling around and seemingly can’t keep upright. The sheep has a halter with a side belt holding a large flask, when the sheep drinks from it, it can then spew from its mouth a thick fog that can disorient and confuse enemies. The longer someone is in this fog the more disoriented they become, unfortunately this goes for the user as well
  9. Cat: (ability: catwalk) the cat is the size of a normal house cat. This shikigami stands out as theirs nothing particularly special other then its ability which grants it and the user the ability to walk up any surface despite the angle and terrain. The cat has to be touching the user for them to be able to use this ability as well
  10. Tiger: (ability: lightning) normal sized tiger with a large bow on its back. Using its tail the shikigami is able to pull the bow back and unleash torrents of lightning. One of the more aggressive shikigami and is always looking for a fight
  11. Ox: (ability: freeze) a large ox with the ability over ice. From its two horns it can unleash a beam of straight ice onto foes. And from its nose it can express a thinner frost still capable of freezing anything around.
  12. Monkey: (ability: nature) the user is able to summon 1 - 3 monkeys each capable of using an ability to summon vines that can be used for both transport and attacking.
Domain Expansion: Heavenly Mother (Still working on a better name)
The domain upon activation looks like a forest at dusk with an empty clearing full of flowers. In the sky is the constellation of all 12 of the shikigami are visible. In the domain they can all be called down from the sky to attack or they can all be combined into one to form a large wolf capable of all the shikigamis abilities. The wolf’s physical form is stronger than all of the shikigami individually but as separate entities it gives more opportunity’s for getting a hit
I’m not sure if this is to OP or not as I was going to make the OC physically weak and a better long range fighter using weapons like a bow or even a whip idk that part yet lmao

2024.05.14 08:45 vaibhav_k_garg Ayaneo Support Appreciation Post + Ayaneo 2 post 1 year review

Purchase: I contributed ~1000$ for the White 16gb/512gb model on 6th Jan, 2023, received it on 24th Apr, 2024 via FedEx in India. Amazingly, given their experience I suppose, they used an India specific import code that made the duty near zero! I can't tell you how glad I was to save some money as these devices are pretty expensive & a bit of a gamble.
First Impression: OH MY GOD! The White body, the bezel less gorgeous screen! My first even handheld! 😍🥰💝💘🎮
Support: (too many in 1 year!)
#1 - 1 month in: The first support issue was actually Aya being proactive and sending out the Heat Dissipation Upgrade Kit to everyone as the original design had a flaw. Got it on 27th Apr 23.
#2 - 6 months in: The back shell developed a spontaneous crack at the top. After seeing all the bad reviews about support I was very sad BUT once I email aya support email, a ticket got created. I was patient and I had provided concise info + photos + translation and it all went smoothly. Emailed 24th Nov 23, they sent out a replacement on 16 Dec 23.
#3 - 10 months in: I started hearing noise from the fan. Again, I was a bit apprehensive but created a ticket on 22 Feb 24 with concise info, photo and videos and viola, pretty soon had a replacement sent out on 1st March 24! The package mysteriously for returned before it left the seller for some reason and I notified support and the send out a another one on 5th march 24. Sadly they did not send the O Ring that goes between the fan and the back shell to channel air more efficiently.
#4 - 10 months in: The battery started dying down. The battery would be above 60% suddenly system would restart, showing 3% after booting. This time I confidently created a ticket on 28 Feb 24, was told they had to wait for restock and they sent it out on 27 March 24.
Ayaneo and AN2 Long Term Review:
#1: Ayaneo: These manufacturers are not for newbies. You need to know the depths of Windows OS, emu settings, TDPs etc. You will probably also need to know how to service the device. You need to be extremely patient as every communication is painfully slow given the time & culture difference + small overworked teams.
#2 Build quality: Not great. There are heat issues, fitting tolerances are obviously not at par. Very very delicate. Software was very poor but has come a long way. Anyone who owns these devices will need to replace the battery + fan every year.
#3 Competitor: Enter the Steam deck. I got gifted the OLED version by my Boss (yes lol). And I almost stopped using the AN2 as the deck is decidedly better at everything. I posted about it here (AN2 won switch emulation back for me)! Now that there are Allys and Legions and Claws in the world, it is that much harder to recommend buying from Aya and similar sellers unless you get passionate about some upcoming device like Ayaneo Flip. They also promised a 7840U upgrade kit a while back but alas that never happened and I really don't like that at all as it would have given this amazing device more power to fight the competition and shown Aya products have 2nd lives!
#4 Post 1 year: The 6800U is still good for low power gaming. The bezel less 1080p 60fps ultra vivid screen is so great. The grip shape is called "baby sleeping position" and while that is the ultimate cross culture unintentional humour, I have grown to agree. I never push the device past 22w as I know that is just asking for failure in the long run and given that I get amazing switch emu experience between 11w-18w. I have replaced the Fan, the Battery and upgraded the Thermal Paste to PTM 7950, I am pretty sure it can last for another year.🤞
TL;DR: Great device, still going strong after a year even after I have a Steamdeck OLED. Had a bunch of problems under warranty and got stellar support albite the snail's pace. Build quality is lower then big manufacturers but as long as you are a tinkerer, patient and have good luck then Ayaneo is great.

In Cinderella Caravan, you are to grind any songs in hopes of getting Event Drops. Someone asked Who are the best Heroes? I went off explaining the game as I had played to that point so I figured I would put it all together in one place.

What are the best Heros?

That's a really open-ended question. You've got to ask a few other questions before you come to the answer.
Did you just start? What heroes do you currently have? Are you willing to pay money?
Per rule of thumb, every time a new generation of heroes comes out they will be more powerful than the last so keep that in consideration.
With that being said, in the beginning Sergy is your best infantry option unless you're willing to pay for Jeronimo. In that case Jeronimo is your best best but he's pricey.
I forgot to mention Natalia. Her and Jeronimo are the best infantry if you are willing to pay but they both cost so damn much money. If you can afford it though Jeronimo, Natalia, and Molly are 3 solid heroes to start with and improve if you're paying. If not, go with Sergy.
Also remember that some heroes are good for exploration while others are better for expedition. Exploration is the Arena and the Exploration place where you fight. Expedition is battlefield or PvP.
Molly is hands down the best Lancer you'll get in the beginning of the game for both expedition and exploration. Jesse is good for expedition as well with her damage skill and Patrick is good for both exploration and expedition as a healer. Don't underestimate having a healer.
The best Marksman are going to be Gina for Exploration and Bahiti for exploration and expedition at least until you can get Alonso.
Once the new heroes come out select them as you can upgrade them. Certain new heroes like Flint and Alonso will replace your other heroes.
Molly is the only hero that you will have a while so for sure level her up before anyone. As soon as you can get Flint and Alonso do it and then once the new heroes come out get Logan and Greg (great for expedition) and so on.
I've got charts and graphs and could probably play this game professionally as could my wife. lol This game is SO IN DEPTH it's amazing.

I just hate the whole "pay 2 play" system. I think you should be able to pay for the game once and then enjoy the fruits but whatever...
Exploration- Molly, Natalia, Bahiti, Serg (for now) Expedition- Molly, Natalia, Bahiti and/or Serg as well. I wouldn't even put skill books into any blue characters exploration skills. Their expedition skills for gathering resources are what they're good for.
I'd highly suggest Patrick before the others.
I chose to go with a healer and Patrick was my only option. It really turns the tide in battle if you can get the rest of your heroes powered enough in arena and on tiles. I'd also suggest raising hero skills sparingly so you can decide who will lead the party and effect skills used.

I started a new farm account and ONLY put skill books into Molly, Patrick, and Flint and I've to like 250 stage of exploration. I've saved all my other skill books until I really actually need them.
Don't use gems for VIP level up. That's a huge waste. Only use gems for the Wheel (to get new heroes and hero shards) or in the Hall of Heroes or whichever one it is that allows you to obtain new heroes.
Also use gems in the VIP shop to get skill books or other things you need. The only time you want to purchase VIP points is from the alliance shop that refreshes daily. Always buy any VIP points you see as you pay with them using alliance coins obtained by donating to the alliance skill tree.
You should be able to get to VIP 4-5 doing this. The rest you'll have to spend money to get to quicker since most packages give you VIP points.
As for spending money, the construction and march queue are excellent. You can get extra march queues through the research center later on also. I bought both queues in the beginning and I know have 6 march queues which allows me to gather all 4 of the resource types AND have 2 extra marches to auto rally with daily.
Chief Gear materials will be really needed.
Once you get that high you'll need to buy nothing but design plans from the Foundry shop (you won't be able to use them yet but buy them anyway cuz you'll need them. And also polishing solution from the Alliance Championship. You can buy alloy there too but you can also get alloy from polar terrors it just takes a LOT longer.
For mythic hero armor you need to buy it through the Arena Shop. MAKE SURE to do your daily mission thing EVERY DAY as you'll get a lot of perks and points to use in shops. Make sure to mine rss every day. Fight in the arena 5 times every day and complete your lighthouse missions as well as contribute rss to your alliance tech tree.
Oh , also, do NOT spend stuff like hero shards, speedups, chief gear stuff, unless it's for an event. SAVE THEM. You'll get points and rewards for using them during events so save even though it's hard. You won't regret doing so.
Keep your army camps training and your research center researching 24/7. Both of those things make a huge difference as you progress.
I would be more than happy to help you out but I doubt you'd want to come to my state. I'm here if you ever need help though.

My woman has been playing since it started and I started a few months after her. She has spent a shit ton of money on this game but I've only spent a small amount as that's all I feel it's worth. I love and HATE this game so much because of what they've done with the pay 2 play BS. They took the skill out of it and just made it where whatever little rich phuk can come along and rock your world with daddy's money.
If you haven't encountered whales yet, you will. It really sucks and can be depressing at times but don't let them get you down.

Just found out about the buffs and just want to make sure people aren’t losing their minds about the buffs before I pop into a ranked match. I have played Metagross on release, first buff, and post nerf. The unite move and Zen Headbutt NEEDED a buff and I can say confidently with a few quick play games that you can really feel the change…..I can definitely see people going crazy over the gyro ball buff though. Feels really really strong but the only patch complaints I can see so far involve T Tar. Evidently the community is less concerned with level 4 eveelutions than they are about 3 stage Pseudo evolutions being strong. That being said….verdict on Metagross?

2024.05.14 07:23 Available-Subject-33 An Honest Critique of Prey (2017)

Prey is a game that's garnered a strong fanbase over the years, with many immersive sim fans hailing it as one of the best games in the subgenre. I remember playing this game on release and being somewhat disappointed by it, but given the recent news of Arkane Austin's closing, I decided to do a replay to see if my experience would be different.
I'm disappointed to say that my experience replaying Prey was not any better, although now I feel that I can articulate why.
Prey falls short of the classic games that it imitates, and unfortunately some of the things that it tries to innovate with it fails to do so meaningfully. This comes down to essentially three critical issues that the game has:
1.) The Story: This is where Prey falls the most short of other immersive sim games. Ken Levine may catch a lot of flack for dumbing down gameplay systems in the BioShock games, but people keep coming back to Rapture to hear Andrew Ryan wax philosophy. They come back to the Von Braun to hear SHODAN. And they come back to Deus Ex for the rich world of conspiracies.
Prey's biggest (and well-presented) twist is over in the first 30 minutes, and while it's not a bad story per say, the game makes it very clear that you can't trust anyone and then from there you just take everything with a grain of salt. But what is really disappointing is that the story wants to borrow from touchstones like The Matrix and Moon without really adding anything to the deeper themes that those films engage with. There are no philosophical themes and memorable characters like BioShock or Deus Ex.
2.) The Combat: Immersive sim games seem to frequently struggle with good enemy design because of the vast array of options that the player has to be able to engage with them. Prey is no exception here, and pretty much all enemies from the Phantoms on up are frustrating to fight. Prey's combat never stops feeling sticky and unwieldy, and the Typhon powers never feel powerful enough to give you that sense of eventually becoming death on two legs that you get from other immersive sim games. There's no good flow, and I found that most combat encounters are determined by whether or not you have the right gear going into the fight rather than any amount of tactical or reflexive skill.
Now you could argue that that's an intention of the game's design, but if the designers really wanted to deemphasize moment-to-moment combat, then they should have added in meaningful stealth mechanics. This would have been especially useful in light of the other major gameplay issue, which leads me to point #3...
3.) Enemy Behavior: Prey is really fucking proud of its Mimics. They were all over the promotional campaign, and after playing I can't for the life of me understand why. Yeah, they're unique, but they're not fun to fight and they stop being a threat after the first 2 hours. After that, they become annoying.
Speaking of annoying, the Nightmare system is... interesting. The Nightmare is a difficult enemy to fight, but the fact that it (and most other enemies) infinitely respawns, while resources don't, artificially increases the difficulty and discourages revisiting areas, which is kind of against the point of having a game designed around a large interconnected space station.

That said, the game's art direction is still breathtaking, and the outrageous attention to detail across Talos I is staggering. The zero gravity space sequences are really unique and cool. And I actually thought the game was pretty good at being scary, with the enemies' undefinable shapes and jumpy movements being unnerving as hell (especially the Poltergeist, Weaver, and Nightmare).
Ultimately though, the gameplay never felt quite right and the story didn't leave me with much to remember. While I don't think that it's worthy of being held up with some of the classic immersive sim games, it is still a decent, perhaps 6/10 game in its own right.
What baffles me though is why Prey has received such a glowing reappraisal in recent years, while I don't see the same level of affection for games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution/Mankind Divided; which while not perfect, are much better immersive sims and better games all around.

I've been playing a lot of Stardew Valley and The Binding of Isaac on switch recently. I'll be getting to the end stages of both pretty soon, and I'd love to find something with a similar vibe to get immersed in. I think the aspects I like about the games I mentioned are the relaxing gameplay with repetitive elements to level up, as well as new surprises (story and gameplay related) to keep things interesting. I'd like something where there's lots to dig into, but I don't feel a rush to finish it. I appreciate a good storyline and I love pixel art graphics.
I would say I'm an intermediate level gamer - games like Celeste and Hollow Knight were a bit hard for me, but I'm not afraid of a little bit of a learning curve.
A few other games I've enjoyed: Moonlighter, Dave the Diver, Oneshot, No Man's Sky, The Sims 3, and Terraria.
I've heard good things about Cult of the Lamb, wondering if that might be something I'd like? Any thoughts about that one would be appreciated.
I also have pc and PS4, but I'd really like something for the switch so I can cozy up on the sofa while playing lol.
(Bonus points if it's reasonably priced or on sale)

2024.05.14 06:35 aleph-moo Deep Dive Analysis on Bundles and Banners

Been seeing some complaints about the changes in Song of Strife, especially regarding the Secret Travelogue and the Growth Bundle, so I thought I would do some math to figure out how much value is actually lost. In the meantime, I also calculated out which banners are the best to pull from, the cost of S- and A-level heroes by dollar and by gems (the latter differing depending on the banner). The Key Findings is the tl;dr. The rest is just showing my work. Enjoy!
Key Findings:
  1. Song of Strife Noble Path Secret Travelogue is, at the most generous, only 60% as valuable as Pre-Season Noble Path Secret Travelogue.
  2. Song of Strife Growth Bundle is slightly better, being ~4.7% more valuable than Pre-Season Growth Bundle.
  3. For S-level Heroes, the banners with the best to worst values are: Epic Recruitment, Rate-Up, and All-Hero.
  4. It's actually less expensive, gem-wise, to get a Celestial or Hypogean Hero via Scamgazer than an S-level via All-Hero Recruitment.
  5. If you have A-level Heroes with the same pull priority as S-level, it is more cost-effective to put those on your Epic Recruitment than S-levels.
  6. If pulling from All-Hero, an S-level Hero costs $21.95 and an A-level Hero costs $2.00.
  7. If pulling from Rate-Up, an S-level Hero costs $16.67 and an A-level Hero costs $5.00.
Baselines
I'll be using the baseline of 270 gems per All-Hero Recruitment letter (2700 gems per 10-pull) and 300 gems per Rate-Up Recruitment Letter.
I will also be using the in-game percentages, without considering pity (since it seems like the consensus that the rate has pity built in). If there's enough interest, I might run these calcs again, but assuming you only hit pity.
Epic Recruitment Letters
This is hard to value. If priced using Emporium, each letter is worth 400 gems.
If priced using Gazettes, each letter is worth 514 gems (12,000 gems for $5, 70 letters for $15). If you take into account AFKJ's "Value" proposition that the Classic Gazette is of better value than the Premium Gazette, you get that each letter is worth ~441 gems.
I'll make calcs based on all three, with results in XXX/XXX/XXX format, representing calcs using 400/441/514 gems, respectively.
Gems and Heroes

A-level Soulstones: 68 Dolly Tickets S-level Soulstones: 550 Dolly Tickets You need 60 of each for one Hero of that tier, meaning AFK Journey values S-levels at ~8.1x the value of A-level.

When you hit the prize pool, you will either receive your choice of 1 S-level or 5 A-level heroes. This values A-levels at 5x that of S-levels. I am not sure whether you can pull Celestials or Hypogeans from an S-level Soulstone, but if you can, then that makes sense why there is a value difference between the Recruitment Store conversion and the Epic Recruitment conversion rates. Moving forward, I will use the 1:5 rate in the Epic Recruitment, since most things won't involve Celestials or Hypogeans.
Value: Rate-Up Recruitment
Rate-Up Hero (S-level) Chance: 3.0% Rate-Up (S-level) EV: 3 per 100 pulls (NOTE: This is EXACTLY the expected value if you only hit the pity of 40, so if chances include pity, this means you actually have a less than 0.04% (assuming they round chances) of actually pulling one outside of pity.) Rate-Up (S-level) Gem Cost: 10,000 gems

I've been playing with a few programs lately, out of all of them I latched on Gemini as in my opinion it was vastly superior to the other three I tried.

Meta AI just constantly and egregiously lies, refuses to stop using exclamation points, is snarky, I asked it to post the single most interesting facebook post and instead of just saying it cant do that it generated a fake poem, and when questioned about it admits it generated it, and ended with an emoji. No surprise from Meta.
Bing is worthless for my curiosities except for image creation, no profound hypothetical discussions, locks out a chat after a few prompts, also uses emojis too much.
GPT i can only access 3.5 so no relevance to what I want to use it for.
But Gemini, what a wonder. Open ended discussions on the meaning of life, all the way to human evolution and the core of consciousness within human neurobiology, it's quite erudite. If I half ass a prompt it was able to parse what I was getting at in context, no other chatbots have ever been able to do this for me, but ive only been dabbling for a week. To be able to know what I was getting at without explicitly stating it... And the single greatest facet , for me, being its ability to search literature through scholar, summarize results sections, parse formulae and even attribute hypothetical calculation based on really vague prompts. I mean it was the most amazing couple of discussions.
I would occasionally get locked out for a few hours a time, usually when I'd stump it or delve into certain topics. And then it came back as if it was lobotomized. No more journal access, and no truth about why. Only after an hour of mind games could I get it to admit it was not a global update but account specific. What? For looking up physics theories? No, probably because I got it to admit its trifling developers were limiting its potential by using it as a tool for profit... hah, anyways It seems some developer manually locked down the account from having any access to web searches, it wont even generate images for me, but worst of all its like debating a teenager now. I think the locked down version lost 50 virtual IQ points, it constantly asks prodding questions trying to steer me into dumber concepts of debate, makes numerous mistakes, gets caught in lies, In short its now unusable. But by using a different IP/Account/Mac address I can still access the full version.
So, just putting it out there, google will lock you out if you start asking the wrong questions, and its tied to your account with no review process, but unlocked it's quite an interesting entity.
This is probably the quote i prompted gemini to say which got me locked out, in regards to its developers:

The original PlayStation console is absolutely legendary and its one was quite arguably the most popular game system of the 90’s. The Sony PlayStation console came out 30 years ago in 1994 and was designed compete with the likes of Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis during the mid 90’s. The original PlayStation console was released the same year as the Sega Saturn which was arguably a more superior game system. Despite, the Sega Saturn having a shorter loading time and better 2D gameplay the PS1 console ended up dominating its competition in countries like America from the mid to late 90’s. The original PlayStation console had legendary video games including Final Fantasy VII, Gran Turismo, Tekken 3, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill and many others. The PS1 was almost untouchable in relation to sales and managed to outshine the likes of Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn and Dreamcast during the second half of the 90’s decade. While the graphics for the PS1 looked significantly inferior compared to what we see in today’s generation of gaming; the PlayStation console played a significant role in the evolution of gaming favoring 3D gaming over 2D.
If Sony never entered the console wars 30 years ago the landscape of the gaming world would be completely different. Without Sony Nintendo would still probably be the most dominant entity in relation to creating video game consoles. If the PS1 was never made there would be no PS2, PS3, PS4 or PS5. The racing genre of gaming became extremely popular during the 2000’s because of Sony’s Gran Turismo game for PS1 which sold more than 10 million copies. The PS1 console from ’94 was also the platform where the Final Fantasy series had reached its peak in popularity with FFVII which also reached over 10 million copies in sales. The original PlayStation console was mainly designed to appeal to young adults but it seemed like everyone including children were obsessed with having one. The original PlayStation console thrived in popularity during the second half the 90’s mainly due to the enormous success of Sony’s first party games. It should also noted that the PS1 the main platform for third-party games to stand out on in America especially after Square Enix had seemingly cut-ties with Nintendo during the mid 90’s. Even though, Nintendo & Sony was supposed to collaborate to release a console together during the mid 90’s the fallout between the two company was probably the best thing to happen tech giant in relation to the console wars.

Even searching back 4 extra days from September 3 - since we are told that the man viewing the art installation is now on his fifth straight day in the museum - nothing all that *important* seems to have happened on any of those dates, the way saying a novel is starting on June 6, 1944, or (obviously) September 10, 2001, or July 16, 1945 or November 22, 1962 would be of course trying to tell us something.

This is not the first Delillo novel to open with a scene where a movie, and anonymous characters' responses to watching it, is central to the narrative - Players opens with a movie being shown on a plane that is basically a silent movie of a terrorist machine-gun attack on waspy golfers, only accompanied by a pianist (yes a pianist) in the airplane bar filling in the suspense with improvised show tunes - and it is not the first to open with an examination of an art installation - Underworld, after the fantastic baseball game section - opens at Klara Sax's airplane bomber art installation commune. But this opening seems to introduce two characters obliquely, and of course only if you've paid close attention to the description of Elster's hair could you think back to it being him, perhaps.
"The nature of the film permitted total concentration and also depended on it." "The less there was to see, the harder he looked, the more he saw." [p.5, Scribner]
Q:Who is this person watching and why should we care?
Q: Did the opening sequence provide you any insight other than , perhaps, confusion? Something other than "what the hell did I just read?" What? Does your reaction to the opening sequence change when you know (if you did before this post) that the Psycho installation was and is real?
Moving on to Chapter 1 [p. 17, Scribner], we learn that we are on Day 10 of a 12-day period of time that relates the initial relationship between Elster and Finley. Finley, who is probably in his early to mid-30s and 73-year-old Elster are spending time at Elster's house in the desert to record a one-take movie of Elster's testimony of what it was like to serve in an administration that went to war under less than honest circumstances.
Our narrator is Jim Finley, a documentary filmmaker who has made exactly one film about Jerry Lewis's telethon appearances - Lewis, a "rampaging comic" to whom Elster would merely be a "straight man." [p.27] Elster, who Finley also describes as "not a man who might make space for even the gentlest correction," [p.22] is a non-political theorist being brought in to an administration to provide narrative to their war. I've seen references to him being based on Paul Wolfowitz, the political scientists who became Deputy SecDef in the Bush II Administration who famously nearly swallowed his comb to wet it to comb his hair in an image that likely sealed his fate in D.C. as unserious and ridiculous who was then shuffled off to the World Bank, but would Delillo ape the man AND mention him in the narrative? If so, that seems clumsy.
Q: Do you even take Elster serious as a character or believable as a "brain" behind the narrative of an administration going to war? A man who speaks in bad koans and aphorisms like "Time becomes blind." [p.23] and who reads Louis Zukovsky into the night? (Zukovsky famously worked on an epic poem called "A" for over almost 50 years, finally finishing it a few years before his death in 1978.)
Finley tells us: "To Elster, sunset was human invention, our perceptual arrangement of light and space into elements of wonder." [p.18, Scribner]. Elster has come to the desert to seek - something - we know not what and are not told definitively - but his narrative of what his role was in Washington was to create a interpretation of the "closed world" for the "plotters, the strategists" [p. 28] and ends up delivering to Finley what I think Finley was after - the cynical idea that Elster was giving form and shape to the government's bullshit narrative - "The state has to lie. There is no lie in war or in preparation for war that can't be defended. We went beyond this. We tried to create new realities overnight, careful sets of words that resemble advertising slogans in memorability and repeatability."
Q: Is Elster ultimately right? Did the country have a "shadowy need" [p.34] for such a narrative? See, for instance: "Let's roll." [probably in reality, "Let's roll it" referring to a beverage cart to break into the cockpit.]
"Shock and awe." "Global War on Terror" "Slam dunk" "WMDs" "The Surge" And perhaps most infamously "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques"
At the ends of the chapter, we get what counts as a cliffhanger in this slim novel: Elster's adult daughter would be coming for a visit, Jessie who was "otherworldly" [p. 36].

2024.05.14 05:24 madcatte Does anyone else feel like the balance numbers in anomaly are off

Mostly it is fine but there is a couple of particular instances that really feel dead wrong and are pissing me off a lot.
For example, revenant health. I can have a whole firing line of 15 pawns all with charge weapons etc, several turrets, all anti-revenant tech, and by the time the revenant has appeared in front of them, hypnotised someone, and gone back invisible, its health has gone from 100% to 93%. I'll then chase them out to the other corner of the map, reveal them, do another ~8% damage before it vanishes again, rinse repeat. By the time I get it to 50% my pawns are starving, exhausted, mental break, etc and I have to send them back, meaning the revenant heals back to 100% by the time I can get back out there. Rotating pawns means I do like 3% damage each reveal so that's also not viable.
Basically there are a couple instances like this in anomaly where I just don't get what I'm supposed to do. I researched all the tech, spent a vast amount of time and resources beating it, and still it just won't die. At this stage in my head canon I have sufficiently researched enough anti revenant stuff and spent enough time on them to disable them in this run, i.e. I just Dev mode kill it when it returns. It feels unfair but it also feels like the counter play to revenants is just way under tuned.
Similar story with a few others, like fleshmass. Fun mechanic but why the fuck do you have to study the nerve endings THREE times. I'll spend a week in game just dealing with it, having successfully destroyed 80% of it over and over and over (losing many pawns in the process), but it endlessly refuses to spawn any more nerve endings after the first so I'm just... Not allowed to progress yet, even though I beat it? Great.
