2024.05.16 05:30 JbBeats2024 For anyone in Behavioral Health jobs: how did you land it?

I just graduated ASU with a psychology degree last week, but have been searching for entry-level behavioral health positions for the last three months.
Nearly every single “entry-level position” I’ve applied to has rejected me because I don’t have at least 1-3 years of experience in the behavioral health field. I have worked part-time jobs before while I was a college student doing admin or student services related things, nothing behavioral health related, but I do have more than 3 years of total work experience.
I’m confused on where to apply, which position to apply for (mainly looking to start in admin or as a BHT), how to sell myself despite my lack of behavioral health work experience, and probably some other stuff I’m worried about.
Thanks for any replies this gets 🙌🏻

2024.05.16 05:23 Previous_Morning8550 Cool magic items

I made some Magic items I'm going to include in my current campaign and thought I'd share because I'm really excited about them, lmk what you guys think, I'm open to improvement.
Martyrs Plate Armor
Looks like a normal suit of Plate armor but with a barely visible glow DC 13 perception to notice
Attunes immediately, can be removed
Has 3 charges per day can be activated as a bonus action
Upon expending a charge the user gets
+2 AC, +10 movement, an extra action the turn of activation, +5 to hit and +10 to damage rolls. Lasts 5 turns, at the end of those turns or end of combat user takes 2 levels of exhaustion and permanently loses 1d8+2 health.
The Immovable sword
A plus 1 longsword with base stats.
Requires attunement.
Ability- As a reaction you can perfectly block one incoming strike by making the sword Immovable. This can be used to protect yourself or an ally within 5 feet of you.
Notes- can block anything that requires a roll to hit the target, this includes spells since the sword is magical, it can touch and interact with magical energy, like a magic missile or fire bolt
While attuned, the users AC is reduced by 2.
It's found stabbed through the chest of a troll, the troll is in hibernation. The troll is holding a dead man that's been crushed in it's grip, the leather of his armor stained reddish brown with dried blood. The man's face is scrunched up in sheer agony, blood covering his lips and chin.
When attempting to remove the sword, the sword is found to be utterly unmoveable, upon a DC 12 investigation, a small trigger is found on the hilt. Flicking the trigger let's the sword be removed. Upon removal the troll wakes up, it was being pinned to the ground by the sword.
Amulet of Intelligence
This amulet boosts the users int score to 25. Curse- The user is super depressed because they are plagued by the realization that they, and the world they're living in, is not real. The users charisma is decreased by 4 as a result.

2024.05.16 05:17 goosewoman Finally got a job after 8 months unemployed… How to deal with debt?

Just landed a new job and locked in a pricey lease, now grappling with debt repayment. Considering selling my car to free up $6k annually for debt payoff. Any advice on tackling my financial situation would be a huge help!
Had to relocate nearer to Toronto for a hybrid role. I've endured some rough living situations post-breakup and multiple moves in the past year. Prioritizing mental well-being in a more comfortable environment is non-negotiable for me so I got my own place for $2550. I need to make adjustments as my income is lower than I am used to and have a lot of debt. I’ve spent a stupid amount on my rescue dog’s health issues over the past two years (~20k) and being off of work has lead to unfortunate credit line debt.
Moving to Mimico (Parklawn/Lakeshore) with decent transit options (20 min walk to go station, 1 min to streetcar, 5 min drive/$10 Uber to subway). Only need to commute to work at blooyonge twice a week. Bought my 2018 Toyota Corolla for $26,000, still owe $19,000, but could possibly sell for $19k. Would love to keep the car for quicker transit access and easier vet/dogsitter visits, plus visiting my family in St. Catharines 2-3 times monthly, but all manageable with transit/Uber. It also feels like a waste of $6k selling it, but I don’t have a lot of options for cutting spending…
Salary: $95k = $5500 monthly after-taxes
Monthly Expenses: Rent: $2550 Utilities: $150 Dog: $250 Car Payment: $250 Insurance: $150 Gas: $100 Transit: $100 Line of Credit Interest: $250 Cell: $40 Total:$3840
Remaining (not including food or fun): $1,660
Debt: LOC (8% interest): $25,000 Student loans: $50,000 (no payments for 5 months, on RAP)
Edit:
Oh also my company will match RRSP contributions 4% without me adding any, and another 2% if I contribute 6%… Not sure if making contributions makes sense right now given my debt situation…

2024.05.16 05:17 Blusy_Addy Lost my spark in college

I'm a first year student and for me i lost my spark, i have no idea if ako ba ang may problema o ang school system.Ako lang ang nakakafeel nito kasi ako lang angmag tatransfer and other ay mag stay nalang o kaya may mas better pa sakin na place na pwede ako maging belong. Ang hirap lang makipag friends sa mga tao sa college kasi di mo alam na baka sila yung maging dahilan ng motivation mo or maging dahilan para mag ka fail ang grade .But i notice na people around me inside my school is lazy asf kaya i avoid them to secured my sanity and my health as well but ended up nadamay at nasira ako , nakakatamad lang na di sila pumapsok and you, pushing yourself to study pero wala e nadamay ka narin ng energy nila, napansin ko nalang na tinatamad ako at wala na sakin na late o absent ako basta ayaw ko lang pumasok kasi nakaka drain energy ng school and people around me Napunta ako sa school na kung saan mauubos ka, a catholic school not a univ, thats why im planning to transfer sa univ na talaga para bumalik ang spark ko kasi sila lahat nahihirapan at nag papapatatagan ng loob eh kasi sa school ko now puro hilahan pababa at pabagsakan nadamay akong matino base on my experience if hindi ka sa univ nag aaral mauubos ka siguro may iba na masaya sila sa school nila kahit hindi univ but me nasira ako at ang mental ko na hindi ako univ . Nakakainggit lang sa mga kaklase ko before na block section sila and sa univ sila nag aaral while me here nag sesettle sa kaunting student and bulok na college system,sa unti ba naman namin sa room burnout yung energy ng school kaya pala walang tumutuloy ng college dun na shs kasi pangit pala talaga and ako na nag try mag college don ay masasabi na pangit talaga as in pangit ang system. I lost my spark because of lazy student sa school na yun na batchmate kuno kami ( unlucky to have you guys).I'm still pushing my self na maging matatag sa situation ko rn kasi ako lang mag isa pero naawa na ako sa sarili ko , hindi ako ganito nong SHS, I'm a honor student and have no idea ano nangyayari sakin ngayon, dahil siguro sa alam nilang honor student ako sakin na sila umasa kasi "kaya mo yan diba, pagawa nalang te ha", "'di kaya nayan ni ano", " matalino si ano ,pagawa natin sa kanya " sakit lang isipin na may mga ganito palang tao sa college ?? miss na miss ko na shs classmates ko kasi sila nag bibigay sakin ng motivation na " kaya mo yan beh , seek kalang help if may difficulty kasa ginagawa mo ha" but broo pag dating sa college dahil sa hirap makisama it ended up " pagawa nalang natin kay ano kaya naman"( ipagawa sakin kaya ko naman daw) haha bro i just need a support system bat kayo ganyan , hirap pala talaga na ganon no ? parang pinupush mo nalang sarili mo para makapasa kayo kahit nauubos kana and for me this school traumatized me fr ngl, the fucking rotten system ng college department and burnout dahil sa kaunting student haha fcvk this school para lang kaming dinasour dun dahil sa paunti nang paunti ang student like nag eextinct na kami wtf lang diba , Sana maregain ulit yung strength ko pag nakalipat ako ng university and exciting to make new friends and find people na mag pupush sakin to gain motivation just like nong shs hindi yung hihila sakin pababa, i just learned my lesson sa life ko rn , na kapag uncomfortable ako sa place aalis nalang ako kasi mauubos ako pag nag stay ako, my school traumatized me because of student and system but thanks to this school kasi kahit nasira ako at naubos tinuruan niya ako na tumayo sa sarili kong paa at di umaasa sa iba , thats for that kasi dahil diyan na ready mo akong tumayo sa sarili kong paa for my new school . for this school i know nasa adjusting phase palang kayo at unti ang studnet because of pandemic , pero sana maayos na ang system niyo para wala ng student na victimized ng system niyo, much better talaga na umalis ako kasi may mas better place pa sakin and for those people na batchmate ko kuno , thanks for u guys dahil sa inyo nakaranas ako na mag karoon ng malalang pet peeve haha and for myself pls gain more strength aayosin mona kita para i-ready sa new environment mo and new system. For those student na nawala ang spark during college sana po mahanap na natin ulit yun kahit mahirap , laban lang :))))

2024.05.16 05:14 SubstantialTune1603 Job search is mentally draining and exhausting

I’m a recent master's graduate from computer science with 2 years of experience, including internships, but it’s been 5 months since I graduated and I only got one interview 'single interview in maybe a 1000 applications'.
Yes, I’ve tried all the tips and tricks, tailoring the resume, having a good LinkedIn profile, and maintaining a git profile, reaching out for referrals, and many more. But nothing seems to be working for me. And another great thing here is I'm an international student and I've got restrictions on where and how I can work, and an added bonus is I have $50,000 student loans which would start in another 2 months.
This is taking a toll on my mental health and physical health, and I'm not sure how to go forward from here. It's so lonely sometimes not having someone to talk to openly about how frustrating and hard it is, and don’t take this the wrong way I do have good friends like some go back 10+ years from childhood and yet I feel like I can’t share this with them. The main reason is they are fighting the same battles if not less but more. I just wanted some place where I thought I can vent and hopefully get some advice or suggestions or something to make it okay.

2024.05.16 05:09 Kalalalalalala1208 My 4th block teacher is kinda wack

Okay so for some background my school district has a technology center where all the local high schools send students for specific programs like engineering, nursing, cosmetology, etc., SO I take health science courses at the technology center for 4th block and travel there from my (home) school. My 4th block teacher who I liked at first, is actually a pain in the ass. She constantly gets me confused with the only other black girl in my class, we look nothing alike and not to mention it’s only 9 people in there. She’s also one of of the main reasons why I failed her class due to attendance. She’d mark me absent when I was taking AP exams at my (home) school, and say that since she didn’t have a “list” and neither did attendance she couldn’t prove I wasn’t skipping. Then the attendance lady at the technology center is saying I need to do make-up school for them for my bereavement days, but my school excuses bereavement days. Not to mention I have an A in the course, and my (home) school has sent over all the information but I allegedly don’t have enough hours 🫠.

2024.05.16 05:07 sssshhhphonics Accepted that it’s not going to get easier for me for a long time

It’ll be 3 months since my Toothless passed on this upcoming Sunday. Maybe it’s the warmer weather, maybe it’s the fact that I’ll be on summer break soon, maybe it’s the fact that his 100 days soon, but I’ve cried hard 4 of the days this week. My friends ask me when I’m adopting again and I tell them I’m waiting at least till his 100 days have gone by to consider but I feel like no dog could ever replace my little boy. He was my baby, my little man. I think I’ll cry like this at least once a week for the rest of my life. I have a sewing club with some of the seniors in my area and one of them has shared with me that she still mourns the dog she lost at 30. I’m 25 and still have a lot of life in me after all the health issues my Toothless was next to me for and I was diagnosed with cervical cancer shortly after his passing. I think I’ll be reaching for him in my final moments whenever that is but I don’t think this whole in my heart and spirit will ever come back. He was perfect for me, so perfect. There’s an ig page of someone’s comics they make of them and their dog and their dog is a Yorkie. I pretend it’s him and this artist is babysitting him for awhile and the comics are little updates from his sitter. I miss his little paws and his stink. I want him back. Toothless was a good boy, the best boy, especially for me.

2024.05.16 05:03 Idonno-Udonno How do I complain/report about Herbalife in India?

Whom do I complain/report Herbalife to? In India
I’m sick and tired of many new nutrition/health/weight-loss/wellness club all over my area in Hyderabad, India. They’re all competing against one other, stealing each other members and their family but providing more referral perks/ family days/ picnics, etc etc marketing gimmicks, which are apparently mandatory.
They are so predatory, they call you like a school teacher for missing a “health class” everyday, members have to post their drink or what they are eating and join mandatory Heath webinars which is all bogus knowledge that is told by these idiots that memorised it from someone. They can’t answer single question. These mentors are uneducated, one of them was a mason who built my home, they have no idea what’s a calorie or a protein but go on and on for hours about it and these graduate members believe them and want us to join in.
This is destroying families, I’m sick and tired from persuading people away from it but my near and dear are so into this scam already, whatever I try, like showing medical papers, suggesting cheaper better alternatives, I even joined to show them the reality of pricing and commissions they are eating, nothing works, because the predatory club keeps persuading them otherwise. And they’ve definitely lost weight or got healthier for sure coz now they’re eating more protein, walking more steps, skipping meals for Herbalife bs. All of the healthier things that their loved ones suggested before but no, they will only do it after some uneducated brutes take money for them and taunt them to do it while feeding poison to their body and brain!
I want to stop this bullshit, but the ones getting scammed don’t believe anything I say, others around, even their loved ones don’t care as they think its not much big of a deal, they say they’ll just get bored of it and let go. But I’m seeing my loved ones destroy their health, wealth and reputation (by always trying to recruit others) since 2 years now.
I know Herbalife or those clubs are breaking some or the other law, how do I stop them? Whom do I report them to? I know Indian courts took action against Amway, there should be some way to start something against Herbalife, but how?
I know their pricing/commission models in detail and I know about the membership models these clubs are running. They sure don’t have any licenses to serve these drinks, or to give medical advice. They surely don’t pay taxes for receiving these monthly memberships fees as I know they earn lakhs per month on it but they still take government ration with white ration card(family earns less than 1 lakh a year).
How do I take it up? Is there anyone else sharing my frustration and agony?

2024.05.16 04:51 0Austin What projects do you all put in your portfolios?

Hello all,
Just as the title suggests. I'm an upcoming sophomore and I'm looking to create a portfolio where I can put in my past and future projects in. I'm a Mechanical Engineering Major who's interested in getting into aerospace doing things like aerodynamics, propulsions, among other things in aerospace. I just wrapped up a project where I designed and 3D printed an omnidirectional wind turbine assembly that will definitely go in my portfolio. But what else could I put on my portfolio? I'm thinking of designing and 3D printing a guitar holder and an organization box for electronic components but they both seem pretty simple to design. For you all, is there a certain complexity to a project that you put in your portfolios? Would those suffice? Is it just a good idea to put as much as you can on your portfolio? Also, if you do a project alongside a YouTube tutorial video, would you include those or would you only include original ideas?
Additionally: I'd love if anyone has ME/Aerospace project recomendations including programming, electronics, or other skills than CAD and 3D printing for the summer as well as for an engineering club that I'm hoping to start. Some things I've thought of are:
Wind Tunnel RC plane/drone Some kind of propulsion system (jet, pulse, ion, etc.) Robotic hand
TLDR: What projects do you include in a portfolio? Do they have to be complex or can they be something like 3D printing an organization box or a guitar holder? Do they have to be original ideas not through watching a YouTube tutorial? Project ideas for a MechE/Aerospace student?

2024.05.16 04:42 Comfortable-Hand-680 One move helped me to fulfill my dream of MIT, and I will do my best to apply to MIT 25FALL!

I am a domestic high school graduate who has already taken the college entrance examination (Gaokao-China), majoring in the sciences, with a keen interest in computer science and mathematics. I'm the first generation of university students in my family, and we are not financially affluent. I don't have a green card, and I'm also Deaf and a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
During my time in high school, I maintained an average score of 95. In language proficiency exams, I scored 71 on the TOEFL, with sub-scores of 28 in reading, 22 in writing, 15 in listening, and 6 in speaking (I couldn't exempt from the speaking and listening exams, but I will explain this situation during the application process). I plan to take the SAT exam in June and a special TOEFL exam in August.
Regarding my major in computer science and mathematics, I'm considering switching to a different field such as linguistics, education, or psychology.

ESSAY My object is an old-fashioned computer, and this objects is a table, then this table is my desk (app development) and the table where I cook for my family (family responsibilities + low-income).
The purpose of the first paragraph is to set up a scene, the old computer and the cooking bring out that I have family responsibility, and life is not easy.
In the second paragraph, recall how I got along with the old-fashioned computer - for example when I was a child and could still hear, you used the computer to play games; gradually grew up, I began to dislike the computer is too slow, too old, not advanced enough hearing assistance
The third paragraph, the twist - write how I learned programming and English on my own through this old computer and used this old computer to create new opportunities for myself
Fourth paragraph, fifth paragraph - describes two qualities
To wrap up the text, this is a metaphor for how I will always be mindful of where I am from, and always be aware of the deaf, LGBTQ, and low-income communities
I don't know much about deafness, I seem to have some differences in my hearing, and I often misinterpret people's words. I felt the impact of deafness as if the world had lost its colour in silence. In conversation, I grew to rely on spoken words, and the lack of hearing made understanding more and more difficult. My friends' conversations drifted away as if they lived in a world beyond my reach.
But I will never forget the old computer I grew up with (meaning I will never forget where I came from and will always think for people like myself)
  1. socially, my world is quiet - I want to understand the world in silent mode
    1. in my family life, my world is full of burdens -- I have to take care of my parents while fulfilling my life goals.
  2. academically, my world is lacking in resources -- as a deaf person, I can't go to university to study my favorite computer subject like a normal person.
Can provide some general direction on the advice, although you guys pointed out to provide feedback, I essay also have no idea (my thinking counts as a particularly simple question) specifically which question needs to be changed, I conceive of the outline of ideas.
Do you have any advice on my general situation in terms of school districts and strategies for choosing schools. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact me privately. Thank you.

2024.05.16 04:31 Plane_Vegetable790 Dog story

Dog story
My girlfriend brought me to the humane society of Springfield one day just to “look” at puppies because she knew I wanted one but was unsure of myself since I lived in a one bedroom apartment and I was a college student. I told the shelter employee I was looking for a German shepherd or German shepherd mix. They just so happened to have a dog named Alma. After doing the meet and greet I was not putting that puppy back in the cage. We took her home.
I named her Olive and Olive was not a chill puppy. It’s taken years of training and dedication to turn that chaotic puppy into the wonderful family / protection dog you see in the photos. She has this habit of eating the drywall next to where I sleep on my bed. This is not her first encounter with drywall either.
When we first got the house we left her uncrated in the basement with snacks, water and toys and a bed for when I went to work. I came home and she ripped a German shepherd sized hole in the wall and got into the other half of the basement. At this point I realized she didn’t like the basement. Weirdly enough she loves crate time and we never use it as punishment. It’s more like happy treat and nap time more than anything else since it’s 4-5 hours or like today I didn’t even go to work.
She turned into an amazing dog but when she turned 4 she almost died. My girlfriend noticed something wrong with her like she was having a seizure. We took her to the fanciest vet we could find and spend thousands saving her life. We found she has Addison disease and now takes 5mg steroids per day. Needs a shot once a month but she should lead a normal life expectancy as long as we give her those shots.
I’ve been dealing with some mental health issues and olive is really helping me. Nothing cuter than a puppy imho so it’s a real mood booster. She’s extremely sweet. Also a little bit tricky, she’s been caught on several occasions tricking my mom’s dogs to get their food when she visits.
Anyways that’s my dog and she’s currently squeaking her toy at me

2024.05.16 04:27 -CanOfEnchantedSoda- I am dropping out of college and am not sure when/if I’ll return.

I am dropping out after three years due to mental health reasons, and due to feeling lost with my studies. I have spoke to my parents about it, and they are okay with me taking time off from college.
I have mostly completed Gen-ED’s, Computer Science, and Business classes in the three years that I’ve been in community college. I don’t have any student debt either.
I think I’ll eventually return to college to get a degree, but I’m not sure when or if I’ll return. I’ll still be living with my parents in the meantime. I want to make the most out of this time, and to use this time to help prepare for the coming years.
What should I do from here? What are the best options that I have? Assuming I return to college, what should I do in the next 6-18+ months of me not being in college?

2024.05.16 04:23 Ok_Web_1877 Review: Dorky Girl GETS REVENGE On Hot Guy, What Happens Is Shocking

Intro:
Today I am reviewing what I believe to be the most disappointing Dhar Mann video of all time. It had potential, I was invested... then Dhar Mann just completely fumbled it. Expect me to get more scathing and frustrated as this review goes on.
This is also a weird twilight zone moment because Azeem, who famously salvages bad Dhar Mann videos, is one of the main contributors to what made this video awful (His character I mean, not Azeem himself).
Review:
Our story begins in the school theatre. Auditions are happening, and our titular dorky girl, Julie (Cecily Dowd), nails it. She does so well, in fact, that the heads of the drama club close up all remaining auditions for that role. That's pretty fucking mean if you ask me. Next up is our titular hot guy, Chase, a jock who hates being a jock. His audition sucks, and the coaches tell him that he's not getting the role.
What the fuck is going on here? Cutting off an audition early is one thing, but outright telling somebody they're not getting the part??? This is like the inverse problem with the tryouts for Bookside's Football team I covered last week. Between this and dismissing all people who haven't auditioned for Julie's role yet, this is super unprofessional.
Disheartened, Chase goes to the back of the theatre to sit with his unnamed narc friends (Azeem Vecchio and Nathan Ing. Knowing that it's these two good actors in this role makes this video just...). We learn that Chase knows he sucks, but he needs to get a role, otherwise his dad will make him play baseball again. We get a namedrop of Chase's bitch of a girlfriend, who blew him off to go shopping. Julie comes by and gives her condolences to Chase. Once she walks away, the narc friends make fun of her, and Chase gets a call from Bitch bitching about shopping or some bullshit. She verbally abuses him and also insists that he sticks to baseball.
Wow, a sympathetic protagonist! This is rare in Dhar Mann. Chase is a good guy, but he's manipulated by an abusive dad and a controlling girlfriend. It doesn't help that his friends suck too.
We cut to lunchtime at school the next day, and typical Dhar Mann plot contrivances occur. The male lead (the role Chase tried out for) turned down the part because he got cast on Broadway... you didn't have to go that far for an excuse Dhar Mann lmao. Oh but the contrivance gets even worse, because apparently the directors are giving Julie full power over who the male lead will be... Excuse me?
Why are the directors letting some random student decide this? This is especially contrived considering we saw how unprofessional and absolutist they were earlier... what the fuck. Anyway, narc friends pressure Chase into doing yet another bad thing: manipulating Julie into casting him by pretending to be romantically interested. This is made even worse by the fact that Julie has had a crush on Chase since they were little. That's fucked up, narc friends. They at least made Chase sympathetic enough to understand why he went along with this.
I have to give it to Chase here, because he doesn't outright ask Julie for the role or even pressure her to give it to him. He approaches her asking to help him get better. He's sincere in his compliments to her about how great her singing and acting is. He gets her number, and they arrange to hangout and practice together. So far, Chase isn't in the wrong yet.
We cut to the next day, in the theatre, where Chase is auditioning by reading a scene with Julie. Once again, I have to give a Dhar Mann video credit on something. It's annoying how his videos always repeat the message of the video word for word, but here, the message is stated in a fictional play that these are reciting. That's a bit more clever if you ask me, and MUCH more tolerable. Nevertheless, the directors are not impressed with Chase. They ask to speak with Julie in private... why? They've already been so mean to Chase right to his face, why hold back now lmao. In any case, the directors really don't like Chase, and Julie, at least for a moment, begrudgingly resolves to tell him he's not getting the part.
Julie tries to let Chase down lightly, and this is where Chase finally enters "in the wrong" territory. In a last ditch effort to keep his shot at landing this role, he lies to Julie by telling her that he likes her. Leaning on somebody who likes you to improve at something? Sure. Having them help you audition with their endorsement? Fine. Lying to them to manipulate them into nepotism? That's wrong and messed up. He even lies to Julie and tells her that him and Bitch broke up. Unfortunately, Julie falls for all of this, and overrides the director's decision.
We cut to Chase hanging out with Bitch at some salon. She never shuts the fuck up until Chase mentions Julie in passing. Chase... buddy... you fuck up here... He tells Bitch about his master plan to manipulate Julie. Why do characters in Dhar Mann snitch on themselves so fucking much?!
Julie and Chase are reading lines that mimic their situation a little too closely. That in itself is fine, I just reaaaally hope that they don't break the 4th wall (and insult our intelligence) by acknowledging this. Chase and Julie start genuinely bonding and it's actually an immersive romance for once. They find out they have so much in common and we see a spark form. Even having watched this before, I genuinely forgot about Chase's plan. For the first time, ever, Chase is realizing that Bitch doesn't even remotely care about him the same way that Julie does.
For once, I actually enjoy a montage. The music actually fits, and we see a lot of cute romantic moments. It's so heartwarming, in a way that Dhar Mann videos fail to tug at my heartstrings. Like I said, I was sooooo invested in this video and it had so much potential.
We cut to the day of the show, and Chase's narc friends... oh, right, these clowns still exist... they sneak backstage and support Chase... sort of. They don't congratulate him on a job well done, they congratulate him on manipulating Julie and talk mad shit about her... like why don't you guys just fuck off and get a life already? They leave, and Julie walks, with a massive glowup! Literally every other Dhar Mann character glowup sucks except for this one. Not only are 99% of the now "hot" people at the very median of the bell-curve, but even IF they actually were that attractive, NOBODY reacts irl with the hyperbolic drooling that Dhar Mann characters do. This glow up works because they don't put Julie on a pedestal, nobody ogles her, and nobody suddenly acts really nice to her. It's a much more realistic, Chase tells her she's beautiful, and that's it.
Chase and Julie absolutely knock it out of the park on stage, and the crowd goes wild! This is the only time I recall getting shivers from a video in a Dhar Mann video. The chemistry is so real, for one and one time only in Dhar Mann! Backstage again, Chase and Julie share a romantic moment, but they're still in intermission, so Julie leaves momentarily.
We are at 17 minutes of this 22 minute video. It was good for 17 minutes. These last 5 minutes are all completely fucking downhill... Dhar Mann absolutely FUMBLED this video in the remaining time!!!!
I genuinely stopped writing and watching for a minute to brace myself for how enraged I am going to get from this point out...
Narc friends sneak back stage again and... how does this keep happening?! And sure they tell him he's awesome and all, which is new, but other than that, they give the EXACT FUCKING SAME exposition that they did before the play started. Even in the context of this story, why? Why do this again? Oh, and they don't just loudly announce Chase's plan quietly among themseleves, they fucking declare this shit so loud that the entire world can hear. Including Julie...
Julie is obviously devastated, but what's even worse is that the narc friends just fucking skedaddle. Some fucking friends, right? They seriously left Chase alone to endure Julie's wrath. Even IF they don't know that Chase developed genuine feelings for Julie, isn't it still in their best interest to help Chase so he doesn't have to play baseball again?! At the very very very very least, the friends should say something like "dont blame Chase! He's a good guy, this was all our idea and we put him up to it!" but no. They just take off. No retribution. No consequences. Nothing. Chase gets the entirety of the rage and the blame.
The whole "I was using you at first but grew to actually like you" trope is something common in Dhar Mann. Dhar has made complete assholes get off scot-free and have a happy ending. Here you have a genuine guy who made a mistake and knows it, and he gets the absolute worst of it.
Oh, it gets even worse though... because in another extreme coincidence, this is THE ONE AND ONLY TIME that Bitch decides to care about Chase's life, and show up backstage (HOW ARE SO MANY AUDIENCE MEMBERS GOING BACK DURING INTERMISSION???) to give PDA right in front of Julie. Bitch literally says right in front of Julie "Why is she crying? Did she find out you were just pretending to like her?" Like holy fuck this is overkill! You don't need to narc on Chase this goddamn much!
Despite everything I just said post the 17 minute mark... This video had one more chance for redemption. Dhar Mann could have, and came soooooo close to redeeming this mess... I have to brace myself once again.
In the second half of the show, Julie's tone is much more scathing, while Chase's is completely timid. Usually I hate when, in fiction, people resolve their conflicts on stage by "being themselves", but here... it works. Chase breaks character and gives a sincere, honest apology and plea for forgiveness. I know I've used this phrase a lot, but it is such a heartfelt moment. If any character in Dhar Mann ever deserved forgiveness and a second chance for being genuinely repentant, it is Chase. Hell, even the entire damn audience is rooting for Chase and wants Julie to forgive and embrace him!
20 minute mark. 2 minutes remain, and we just had another peak moment after a valley, so surely this video can't fuck it up... right?
Julie runs off stage and the director calls an impromptu intermission. But then we cut to the next day at school... What? No! You can't just not tell us what happened the rest of the night and what became of the show!
Chase goes up to Julie at her locker with a gift of their favorite food. Chase tells Julie that he broke up with Madison, much to Julie's indifference. Chase is wearing a "so you see..." backpack by the way... Dhar Mann was INTENT on ruining this video holy shit.
Julie tells Chase that she talked to the director and they have decided to recast Chase's rol- HUH?! What??? What the fuck do you mean recast his role?? They JUST HAD the show!!! What do you mean for the rest of the run? That's not how school plays work. And no, there's no bullshit about it just going on a few more days of this weekend, because Julie specifically says that she can't bring herself to dance with Chase EVERY weekend!
I started banging my head into my desk once Julie said "Did you not learn anything from the show? Like my character says: The truth doesn't cost you-" AHHHH fuck off. The one and only time you had a somewhat clever way of veiling the message of the video, you had to fuck it up Dhar Mann by having her just outright point to the intended message... Julie takes the food and walks away. The end.
Outro:
...yes... that's actually how they decided to end this. What the fucking fuck? This is so incredibly anticlimactic and absolutely nothing is resolved. Chase is still under the abuse of his dad, his narc friends are off scot free, and Julie is still crushed. Dhar Mann has redeemed absolutely irredeemable scumbags and given happy endings to sociopaths, but Chase of all characters ends up with an EVEN SHITTIER life than how the video started?! This is even worse with the next suggested video being Anna from "Nerds Get Revenge on Cool Teens", an absolute fucking cunt of character who gets off scot-free and suffers no penalties for the shitty things she does INCLUDING USING SOMEBODY ROMANTICALLY, which she neither regrets nor suffers repercussions for. Just get the fuck out of my face already. Fuck this video, fuck the suggested video, and fuck Dhar Mann for ruining one of the only potentially good videos he ever made.
Sorry for how heated I got in this review. I can assure you that no other video even comes close to disappointing me on this level. It just... you know what, nevermind, I've said everything I need to say.
See you all next week for another review! Leave any recommendations below!

2024.05.16 04:21 carrion--beetle terrarium in dorm?

I'll be a student in September, and will be in the baker house. i have a bioactive terrarium that I'm planning to bring with me. everything is contained, and all plants and bugs are native species. will it be an issue? the main reason i have it is for mental health. i have episodes of being really despondent, and kind of depressed. looking at bugs, and observing them living their little lives helps to bring me out of those episodes. i cant always get out to a forest, or somewhere with nature, so its nice to have a little slice of the outside in my room.
I'm in the process of getting myself registered with the accessibility centre, so if i have to take it up with them, i can. I'm mostly wondering it its directly against dorm rules.

2024.05.16 04:18 GregTheGreat657 What colleges should I look into?

Currently finishing up my junior year and haven't applied anywhere yet
Home area: Upstate NY
UW GPA: 95.37/100 (my school doesn't do the 4.0 scale or weighted gpa)
HS Courseload: 6 APs, 9 dual enrollment courses, 7 honors courses
SAT: 1280 (610 RW, 670 M), retaking in June, most likely retaking in October as well
AP scores: World History (5), Seminar (3), awaiting scores for APUSH, AP Lang, and AP Research
Extracurriculars:
National Honor Society (11th, 12th), Cross Country (11th, 12th), Indoor Track (10th, 11th, 12th), Key Club (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, was vice president in 10th grade), Civic Readiness Seal (earned 11th grade year), Student Council (11th, 12th), Language Club (9th, was president), Golf (10th), History Enrichment Program (completed as a rising sophomore)
Intended Major: Leaning towards econ right now. If I took that path, I would intend on working in government as opposed to the corporate sector.
Family Income: Too much to qualify for questbridge, but low enough to qualify for a good amount of financial aid at most places
Preferences in a School:
Would like to move down south after I graduate, although I'm a little worried about moving far away from home this soon. I'd prefer a smaller school, Would like to graduate with as little debt as possible, Preferably good dorms/food. Would most likely commute if I go within 30-60 minutes of where I live.
I've visited a handful of schools for their junior open houses. I didn't love any, but I don't hate any either.

2024.05.16 04:17 One-Patient5502 UChicago Transfer vs. Purdue (CS)

Hi,
I was very lucky to get the opportunity to transfer to UChicago given I maintain solid academic standing in my first year of college (provisional transfer offer). I will be heading to Purdue this fall barring any waitlist surprises. Now before I start, what I’m about to say is assuming I do achieve a 3.5+ GPA in my freshman year. Also, thanks to my parents, cost is a nonissue.
I think Purdue CS is great. They host huge career fairs and have strong tech industry connections, which may make finding internships a tad easier. Furthermore, they have strong research in AI/ML’s application in aviation, which is a field of research I’ve been pursuing for a year. I’ve found a few clubs I’m interested in joining and I feel that I have a lot of flexibility to pursue my programming passions (starting competitive programming, low-level game dev, creating simulations, etc.) However, the school is in the middle of nowhere, and I like a city environment. Furthermore, I don’t know much about their math and physics programs, and any to double major in one of these.
On the other hand, I haven’t heard a whole lot about UChicagos CS program. I assume it’s pretty theory based (which I’d probably prefer) because of the stronger math department, but UChicago doesn’t have a great deal of industry connections. Now I know this isn’t really an issue since the onus is mostly on the student to apply, but I’ve also heard there isn’t really a very strong CS culture at UChicago, which is a bit of a put off. However, I’m also really interested in math and physics, and UChicago excels in these fields. If I attend I would probably try to double major in physics or math. Quantum computing is something I haven’t really explored much but I find it fascinating , and UChicago is world renowned for this field. Furthermore, Chicago in general is a very happening city, while Purdue is in the middle of nowhere.
Any advice for my future self who gets above a 3.5? Much appreciated.

2024.05.16 04:16 meowjimaa Advice on quitting + my situation?

I'm a student working a job at my college at a facility doing animal husbandry. I've been actively working for around two months, and I've come to realize I dislike the repetitive tasks. I was hired to replace a graduating, and since they haven't graduated yet, so there isn't much for me to do yet. I feel the hours dragging by during my shifts and I think it's been taking a bit of a toll on my mental health, but I feel bad that if I quit, they'd have to find someone to replace me again. I have another job with the same wage that I enjoy more, and I could easily pick up more hours to replace the lost income here, so money isn't an issue. My idea right now is to let my boss know that I want to quit, but also that I'll stay until they've properly trained someone to replace me. Would this be a bad idea? I just feel guilty even though I know I shouldn't, and this is just a job. Any advice? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

2024.05.16 04:12 Better-Rule-9526 Public Speaking Club - UofG Toastmasters

Hi students! I'm part of UofG Toastmasters. We are a public speaking club that meets Thursday evenings. The summer gets a bit slow, any advice/opinions on what would attract you to attend a public speaking meeting?
