2024.05.15 01:34 DarcyRose5 New to Rockband, drums not connecting

I bought a Harmonix drum set for the Wii and two dongles. The seller was upfront and said they could never get it to connect to play. I checked the compatibility of the dongles and they are the Wii ones. I have tried both dongles in both usb ports on my Wii U. I’ve tried the sync buttons in different orders, holding down and just pushing them. Is there anything else I should try before purchasing a new dongle? The batteries used in the drum set are new.

2024.05.15 00:50 Specialist-Chance-32 Bought a Mac mini (M2). What do I do with my old (Intel) MacBook Pro?

Hey guys. My 2017 MacBook Pro could barely handle work things - slow to a crawl when Zoom was open. Thinking of repurposing it since it's fairly old and beaten and won't sell for much. What should I do?
Thought of using it as a second monitor, but given the USB-C thunderbolt ports (and lack of HDMI port) that might prove difficult/awkward. Thought of using it as a Netflix machine, but after 10 or so minutes into anything it starts to desync video and audio (on both Safari and Chrome). A full system reset didn't do much for it. What should I do?

2024.05.15 00:22 SuikoRyos I think DW8 made me biased against Liu Bei.

Quick background summary: always wanted to get into Dynasty Warriors, the only PS I owned was the first one, my first Warriors game was SW3 on the Wii, and my first DW was the PC port of DW8XLCE (or I think that was the order of the letters).
As a total newbie to the Dynasty Warriors franchise (and therefore to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms lore) I played DW8 completely blind. I didn't know who were any of the characters. So I run the game, select Story Mode and the game presents me five options: Wei, Wu, Shu, Jin and Other. Reminder that I came from SW3, which had a character-centric Story Mode. By that time I also didn't know jack shit from the Sengoku era, but at least I could choose which stories to play based on the character's models --I either started with Nobunaga because he looked cool or with Kai because she was a sexy lady dressed in red.
Back to DW. Since I wasn't sure which kingdom to start playing the game, I just played them in the order the game presented them to me. Which now, in hindsight, made me realize that, maybe unwillingly, the game leaned me towards being anti-Liu Bei. My reasoning:
By the time I reached the point I had to play as the Shu characters, the damage was already done. Playing Chibi as Wei? The tragic defeat of a great general bested by circumstances. Playing Chibi as Wu? The heroic underdogs fighting teeth and nails against a bigger enemy. Playing Chibi as Shu? Let's use every underhanded trick under our sleeves to get out of this one.
Meanwhile in SW: as said before, I played as Nobunaga first, but I didn't feel any animosity when playing as Nagamasa or Mitsuhide later. I love Nene's character, but seeing her depressed after losing all her loved ones during Hanzo's story didn't make me hate Hanzo himself. I'm pro Mitsunari, so while I can joke about Ieyasu being an opportunistic like Liu Bei, I still can see some nuance to his character. There was no "common enemy" so to speak between all the stories.
And that seems to be one disadvantage with faction-based narratives. If there's 3 main factions, by the time you finish the stories of two of them, it's very likely you will be inclined to see the last one as the "common enemy". Of course, I'm just talking off my ass right know. So I ask to any who was patient enough to read so far:
Did you happen to have a similar experience? For example, if you played Shu's and Wu's stories first, did that make you feel like Wei was the bad guy of the whole game?

2024.05.14 22:27 PatrickXKimi I'll never understand why Sonic is getting awful Switch ports.

I remember when Sonic Heroes, Shadow and Riders are best on GameCube (PS2 ports are hot garbage and Xbox has frame rate drops and some missing effects that shouldn't happened. Rushed porting probably.) and Wii is the best console to Dimps Unleashed and Riders Zero Gravity (Again, hot garbage PS2 ports).
Fast forward to now and besides Mania (Not too sure how much credit I should give them, though), Sonic ports are shit on Switch! Sonic Forces and Frontiers are 30 FPS and 720p, Team Sonic Racing is 30fps while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is 60, Sonic Origins menu is 720p and 30 for some reason, Sonic Superstars got graphical downgrades, frame drops and 720p for no apparent reason and they didn't even put Colors Ultimate to 60 on Switch despite the game's age and Zelda: Skyward Sword HD pulled it off (Released the same year BTW). If games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Odyssey can do 60 FPS, 1080p and still look nice on Switch then so can Sonic Forces, Colors Ultimate, Team Racing and Frontiers! I know the Switch has aging hardware (Even when it released), but there's no reason we should defend Sega for shitty Switch ports! Just improve Switch ports or don't bother at all!

2024.05.14 16:49 FluidTie7932 Ultimate Batocera setup (handheld/TV console)

Hi everyone! I was thinking to buy what is needed to create a setup compatible to a mobile style (handheld) and a "couch" style (TV console using a mini-pc x86) taking advantage of Batocera's plug and play feature. So when i want to play GBA, Switch DSi games I will insert a Batocera drive to the handheld and once I want to play PS2, PS3 or WII games I'll plug into x86 mini-pc. My personal minimum requirements are:
Considering my personal requirements and Batocera requirements, which handheld should I buy? Batocera emulation supports the split screen feature like original console?
Thank you in advance!

2024.05.14 14:47 ConceptsShining What are some games with highly unique gameplay mechanics, with almost nothing else out there quite like them?

In your opinion, what are some great games with highly original gameplay, with little to no other games quite like them? The kind of games that are very hard to squarely fit the gameplay of into any existing specific genre?
What comes to my mind is the Wii and DS's Trauma Center games. They're great games that utilize the Wiimote's gimmicks to great effect to produce a highly original experience. For instance, they require that you hold the Wiimote steady to aim and move the pointer with precision during surgery operations. It's nothing like using a mouse or analog stick that you can move and stop at will; your dexterity and reflexes are genuinely tested. Many Wii games, even first-party ones, pale in comparison in terms of creative usage of the Wiimote's gimmicks; often using it for little more than being a glorified mouse for menu navigation, and rudimentary flicking/twisting motions (often for functions that could be easily replaced with a button press/analog stick movement).
I struggle to think of many games that are this unique. A testament to the games uniquity is how they are practically impossible to faithfully port to modern systems; they were 100% made with the Wiimote and Nunchuk in mind, and you just can't translate them to a gamepad/KBM.

2024.05.14 11:07 Plutoburnz Old receiver with new 4k tv

Hi, I have a question about how to properly connect the home theater system so I can watch 4k blurays.
I will have a new TV that's HDCP compliant (Samsung QN85D) , but my AVR is older, it has 4k passthrough but not HDCP compliant. I get that if I want the best possible experience, I will need a new receiver to get 4k/60hz 4k/120hz, HDR, etc... but for now, if I want to keep using my old receiver, what kind of 4kbluray players do I need to get and how to connect the hdmi cables to play 4k video and sound through my receiver.
I am mainly wondering because if I am already connecting the HDMI ARC ports of receiver with TV (so I can watch netflix with home theater speakers), does the HDMI from the player can go to any other hdmi port on TV?
Thank you for the help.
EDIT: I think I need a player like Sony UBP-X800

2024.05.14 03:22 TheLitStopSign Integrating Tidal into a Legacy AVR

Integrating Tidal into a Legacy AVR
Hi there,
I recently got into Tidal and the Headphones side of things. To drive these headphones I have a Fiio k5 Pro desktop headphone dac/amp and a THX Onyx for my on the go laptop or phone paired with Senheiser 6xx headphones.
I am interested in integrating this hi-fi experience into running passive speakers in my living room with my older audio/video receiver. It's a sony STR-AV880. It is in an AV cart and runs a turntable, cd disc changer, tape deck, etc. There is a few open ports and I was thinking about a couple of scenarios.
1. Running a white and red rca cable from the Fiio k5's line out to an open rca port on the old legacy receiver (the receiver's line-in might be in use so maybe "video 2" or something like that.) I was concerned if this was a possibility, because someone said that the fiio k5 pro is controlling the line out ports with it's own volume knob and that would potentially overload or damage the inputs on the avr as it's meant to drive headphones. Does this make any sense? Or would it be safe to try.
2. Running a 3.5mm to RCA from the Onyx Headphone Dac/amp into the receiver. (Again someone said this would somehow potentially damage the receiver.) I thought RCA cables didn't carry power, so I don't entirely understand the overload situation.
3. I am learning about the wiiM pro but would have to invest some additional cash for this piece of equipment. I am willing to do it if option 1 and 2 are somehow unsafe. (I am weary because I don't understand how something that is wireless will be able to stream uncompressed tidal audio. Audio generally compresses over a bluetooth connection? Also I heard on a youtube video this streamer can’t really output 24bit/192khz over rca connection/ optical only.
  1. I am also considering doing 1, 2 or 3 with a Fosi Audio BT20A for my bedroom.
Please advise, I am new at this! Thank you in advance for your response.

The Sony Access Controller (SAC) for PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a customizable PS5 controller to make gaming more accessible. The SAC includes four expansion ports for analog joysticks, analog triggers, and buttons.
The nunchuk2sac project adds a Wii nunchuk or clone with two buttons using three expansion ports. The nunchuk can be easily be replaced when the joystick wears out (drifting).
See the https://github.com/esp32beans/nunchuk2sac for Arduino and CircuitPython source code and more details.
One way to use the Access controller and nunchuk together, is to hold the nunchuk in one hand over the Access controller. Use the lower part of the hand to move the Access controller joystick and use the thumb to move the nunchuk joystick. This makes it possible to move both sticks with one hand.

My Wii U gamepad has been having troubles charging. Sometimes it will work alright but often the led starts to flicker, and it won't charge. I thought maybe it was a faulty charger, so I bought a new one, no dice. Then I wondered if my charger port was having issues, so I got a charging dock and still no difference. 2024.05.14 00:40 SelectionLoose6530 Is NF worth it anymore...ten month total pause time...comparing screen resolutions/plans...not really 4K...and other odds and ends...

Hello!
I meant to stop my NF subscription for a while because I'm getting bored (have been for a long time) with Netflix, but I forgot and missed it by one day so will wait another month and mull over my options during the meantime. However, I just noticed that Netflix has an option for cancellation only and there was no mention of having a total of ten months to pause service. Is this no feature longer available?
I started sub'ing Netflix back when it was mail-DVD only, I think it was 2003. I was late to streaming NF, which we began in 2008 via my kids' Wii. I can't remember how much we paid in the beginning, but I could swear it was $4.99/month at the time for 2 or 3 movies, or maybe that was the one movie option. If anyone remembers or knows what the price was back then would you please share that info with me just to satisfy curiosity? The earliest and lowest price I can find online right now is $9.99 a month, but I remember when it went up to $9.99 and had to think about whether or not it was worth keeping because it took a while to watch a movie, get it back in the mail, get another movie, watch it, get it back in the mail, and then get another one all within a month's time -- we're very rural in the middle of absofreakinglutley nowhere and the mail takes about 2 or 3 days longer each way for us. It was still great programming at the time, and the added streaming was a huge plus, so we kept it and have been with NF since...more than two decades.
However, my kids are older now, the platform has greatly changed, and there isn't much on Netflix that interests me anymore, or rather, possibly there is but it is too difficult for my feeble old brain to browse. There used to be a great site that had a database of most of what NF had, and it seemed to keep up with the monthly changes pretty well, but they haven't been doing that for a while now. Looking at pages of huge thumbnails of what is immediately current is a pia. If anyone knows of a site that keeps track of titles (such as a database), then would you please share that link? Something like that is much easier to use.
I enjoy many of the foreign shows, but more and more of them don't have English audio dub. Although I enjoyed subtitles in the past, neuro issues have now made it nigh impossible for me to read them while trying simultaneously to watch the show. This genre is the biggest reason I kept NF after the database website stopped keeping the database. So before beginning ponderations on whether or not NF is worth the $276/year, I'd like to better understand NF's steaming options. Although my laptop and mobile devices are 1080, my TVs and desktop are 4K or UHD. My ISP plan definitely has the ability to deliver the higher resolutions, but recently I saw a video on YouTube where this guy was talking about not getting 4K. I stupidly didn't write down the title, didn't save or bookmark it, and now I cannot remember the title or the channel or the person so can't go back and find out what this was all about. He did some digging and talked to NF and .... I absolutely cannot remember what he was saying, but it was along the lines of not only do we need to have the appropriate equipment capable of streaming and viewing 4K, but we have to also have the precise equipment that NF wants us to have. Please do not ask me for details because I have no clue. My memory has deteriorated considerably. Do any of you know about this 4K/UHD issue and needing equipment that Netflix wants us to use? I was thinking that if I cannot really get 4K (sometimes I know I do not but I thought perhaps it was just glitches with router), then perhaps it is not a big deal to jump down to the one device plan at 1080 since I'm the only person using NF in my family.
If this is the case, then I'd like to compare the viewing quality of a 4K show, UHD, and 1080. It is easy to find 4K, but when I search for UHD, I get the same 4K titles. I'm guessing that this is because the vert is the same but not the horizontal? Does anyone know? But if I search for 1080, well, that doesn't really matter. Do any of you know of a show on NF that is not the higher rez's so I can use it for comparison?
I'd really like to get this figured out before the next billing cycle, especially considering the fact that Netflix is expected to raise rates sometime this year.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

2024.05.13 23:56 FozzTexx 2024 May 13 Stickied -FAQ- & -HELPDESK- thread - Boot problems? Power supply problems? Display problems? Networking problems? Need ideas? Get help with these and other questions!

Welcome to the raspberry_pi Helpdesk and Frequently Asked Questions!

Link to last week's thread
Having a hard time searching for answers to your Raspberry Pi questions? Let the raspberry_pi community members search for answers for you! Looking for help getting started with a project? Have a question that you need answered? Was it not answered last week? Did not get a satisfying answer? A question that you've only done basic research for? Maybe something you think everyone but you knows? Ask your question in the comments on this page, operators are standing by!
This helpdesk and idea thread is here so that the front page won't be filled with these same questions day in and day out:
  1. Q: What's a Raspberry Pi? What can I do with it? How powerful is it? A: Check out this great overview
  2. Q: Does anyone have any ideas for what I can do with my Pi? A: Sure, look right here!
  3. Q: My Pi is behaving strangely/crashing/freezing, giving low voltage warnings, ethernet/wifi stops working, USB devices don't behave correctly, what do I do? A: 99.999% of the time it's either a bad SD card or power problems. Use a USB power meter or measure the 5V on the GPIO pins with a multimeter while the Pi is busy (such as playing h265/x265 video) and/or get a new SD card 1 2 3. If the voltage is less than 5V your power supply and/or cabling is not adequate. When your Pi is doing lots of work it will draw more power. Even if your power supply claims to provide sufficient amperage, it may be mislabeled or the cable you're using to connect the power supply to the Pi may have too much resistance. You can use a USB load tester to test your power supply and cable. Some power supplies require negotiation to provide more than 500mA, which the Pi does not do. If you're plugging in USB devices try using a powered USB hub with its own power supply and plug your devices into the hub and plug the hub into the Pi.
  4. Q: I'm having a hard time finding a place to purchase a Raspberry Pi for an affordable price. Where's the secret place to buy one without paying more than MSRP? A: https://rpilocator.com/
  5. Q: I just did a fresh install with the latest Raspberry Pi OS and I keep getting errors when trying to ssh in, what could be wrong? A: There are only 4 things that could be the problem:
    1. The ssh daemon isn't running
    2. You're trying to ssh to the wrong host
    3. You're specifying the wrong username
    4. You're typing in the wrong password
  6. Q: I'm trying to install packages with pip but I keep getting error: externally-managed-environment A: This is not a problem unique to the Raspberry Pi. The best practice is to use a Python venv, however if you're sure you know what you're doing there are two alternatives documented in this stack overflow answer:
    • --break-system-packages
    • sudo rm a specific file as detailed in the stack overflow answer
  7. Q: The only way to troubleshoot my problem is using a multimeter but I don't have one. What can I do? A: Get a basic multimeter, they are not expensive.
  8. Q: My Pi won't boot, how do I fix it? A: Step by step guide for boot problems
  9. Q: I want to watch Netflix/Hulu/Amazon/Vudu/Disney+ on a Pi but the tutorial I followed didn't work, does someone have a working tutorial? A: Use a Fire Stick/AppleTV/Roku. Pi tutorials used tricks that no longer work or are fake click bait.
  10. Q: What model of Raspberry Pi do I need so I can watch YouTube in a browser? A: No model of Raspberry Pi is capable of watching YouTube smoothly through a web browser, you need to use VLC.
  11. Q: I want to know how to do a thing, not have a blog/tutorial/video/teachebook explain how to do a thing. Can someone explain to me how to do that thing? A: Uh... What?
  12. Q: Is it possible to use a single Raspberry Pi to do multiple things? Can a Raspberry Pi run Pi-hole and something else at the same time? A: YES. Pi-hole uses almost no resources. You can run Pi-hole at the same time on a Pi running Minecraft which is one of the biggest resource hogs. The Pi is capable of multitasking and can run more than one program and service at the same time. (Also known as "workload consolidation" by Intel people.) You're not going to damage your Pi by running too many things at once, so try running all your programs before worrying about needing more processing power or multiple Pis.
  13. Q: Why is transferring things to from disks/SSDs/LAN/internet so slow? A: If you have a Pi 4 or 5 with SSD, please check this post on the Pi forums. Otherwise it's a networking problem and/or disk & filesystem problem, please go to HomeNetworking or LinuxQuestions.
  14. Q: I only have one outlet and I need to plug in several devices, what do I do? A: They make things called power strips aka multi-tap extensions.
  15. Q: The red and green LEDs are on/off/blinking or the screen is just black or blank or saying no signal, what do I do? A: Start here
  16. Q: I'm trying to run x86 software on my Raspberry Pi but it doesn't work, how do I fix it? A: Get an x86 computer. A Raspberry Pi is ARM based, not x86.
  17. Q: How can I run a script at boot/cron or why isn't the script I'm trying to run at boot/cron working? A: Try one of these numerous solutions
  18. Q: Can I use this screen that came from ____ ? A: No
  19. Q: I run my Pi headless and there's a problem with my Pi and the best way to diagnose it or fix it is to plug in a monitor & keyboard, what do I do? A: Plug in a monitor & keyboard.
  20. Q: My Pi seems to be causing interference preventing the WiFi/Bluetooth from working A. Using USB 3 cables that are not properly shielded can cause interference and the Pi 4 can also cause interference when HDMI is used at high resolutions.
  21. Q: I'm trying to use the built-in composite video output that is available on the Pi 2/3/4 headphone jack, do I need a special cable? A. Make sure your cable is wired correctly and you are using the correct RCA plug. Composite video cables for mp3 players will not work, the common ground goes to the wrong pin. Camcorder cables will often work, but red and yellow will be swapped on the Raspberry Pi.
  22. Q: I'm running my Pi with no monitor connected, how can I use VNC? A: First, do you really need a remote GUI? Try using ssh instead. If you're sure you want to access the GUI remotely then ssh in, type vncserver -depth 24 -geometry 1920x1080 and see what port it prints such as :1, :2, etc. Now connect your client to that.
  23. Q: I want to do something that has been well documented and there are numerous tutorials showing how to do it on Linux. How can I do it on a Raspberry Pi? A: A Raspberry Pi is a full computer running Linux and doesn't use special stripped down embedded microcontroller versions of standard Linux software. Follow one of the tutorials for doing it on Linux. Also see question #1.
  24. Q: I want to do something that has been well documented and there are numerous tutorials showing how to do it with an Arduino. How can I do it on a Raspberry Pi Pico? A: Follow one of the tutorials for doing it on Arduino, a Pico can be used with the Arduino IDE.
  25. Q: I'm trying to do something with Bluetooth and it's not working, how do I fix it? A: It's well established that Bluetooth and Linux don't get along, this problem is not unique to the Raspberry Pi.
Before posting your question think about if it's really about the Raspberry Pi or not. If you were using a Raspberry Pi to display recipes, do you really think raspberry_pi is the place to ask for cooking help? There may be better places to ask your question, such as:
Asking in a forum more specific to your question will likely get better answers!

2024.05.13 21:25 Vox_Wynandir RP2S Essentials List

Just ordered a Retroid Pocket 2S and am working on a list of games to play. Honestly, it is a bit overwhelming. Especially with the amount of ports on Nintendo systems. I have browsed countless top 10 style lists and it is making my head spin. Is there an easier way to compile a games list? An important qualification is that if I can purchase and play a game on my Switch, I would rather play it there (not counting Switch online). So for example I'm not interested in Final Fantasy 1-6 because of the pixel remasters. But I refuse to use Switch Online to "Netflix" my games. Interested in:
NES / SNES / N64
GB / GBC / GBA / DS
PSX

2024.05.13 19:54 ArmedBlue08 Kirby's Return to Dream Land Crashing after File Select

I'm trying to play Kirby's Return to Dream Land from my SD card (64 GB, formatted to FAT32), but whenever I try to open it in either USB Loader GX or WiiFlow, it crashes on both the cutscene that plays when you wait on the title screen and after I select a file. I've turned off ocarinas, I've used the gameconfing.txt file with ocarinas, and I've tried playing it in cIOS 248, 249, 250, and 251. I've tried other ROMs to see if it was just mine, but all of the different versions I've tried have this problem. I tried putting it on a different SD card and using a SD to USB Adaptor, but it never shows up, no matter which port it's in. How on earth do I fix this?

__________
1) Castlevania: SotN - PAID / Landscape
Let's start with the classics. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is a great port of an iconic genre-defining action platformer, where we explore Dracula's castle by fighting its many bloodthirsty inhabitants and struggling through deadly traps. At our disposal is a wide variety of weapons and combat skills, but most of all - quick reflexes and sharp wit.
The game is rather difficult and unforgiving - I wasn't able to play it effectively with touch controls. Using a controller is highly recommended.

2) Afterimage - PAID / Landscape
Afterimage has been recently ported to mobile, but I already see myself spending a lot of hours on it. It features a rich colorful world with an intriguing story that is hard to follow at first, lots of different weapons with interesting moves, multiple development paths, and many hidden secrets to uncover.
If you don't mind the poorly comprehensible lore and the generic-looking enemies, this game maintains a high-quality standard and fits nicely into this list.
App Store MiniReview
3) Elderand - PAID / Landscape
Elderand does not feature many weapons or cool combos, but it offers a large dark world that is interesting to explore to find secrets and uncover lore. Even though its "souls-like" combat is engaging on its own, I found it especially entertaining to use its wide variety of platforming moves to reach seemingly inaccessible places and gather all the valuable collectibles the game has in store for us.
The game is nicely playable with the touch controls, but some specific builds benefit from being played with a controller.

4) HAAK - Free Trial / Landscape
HAAK takes us on a futuristic journey across a desolate post-apocalyptic land in search of a missing relative. Our main weapon is a high-tech energy glove that is used not only to slash enemies, but also to grab onto remote objects.
Overall, the game is more about tricky platforming and overcoming obstacles than sword fighting, but it does feature its fair share of combat - especially during the action-packed boss encounters. It is perfectly playable with the touch controls, but a controller definitely helps.

5) Nub's Adventure - Free Trial / Landscape
Nub's Adventure offers a significantly different take on the genre. No shooting or sword fighting - just a relaxing exploration of a cute fantasy world with lots of platforming challenges. We do, however, own a weapon, albeit a rather unconventional one - a boomerang. And we actually use it a lot for combat purposes, despite the peaceful impression that the game might give.
It's a very entertaining game that is hard to put down until you've beaten all the challenges and found all the secrets.
App Store MiniReview
6) Dandara Trials of Fear Edition - PAID / Landscape
Dandara features a unique movement mechanic, where instead of running and jumping, we dash between flat surfaces - including walls and ceilings - to avoid obstacles and shoot enemies. This unique gameplay is further reinforced thanks to the mind-bending level designs and frenetic fights that defy the laws of physics.
Due to the tight controls, using a controller is highly advised, although some parts of the game are actually easier to beat with the touch controls.
App Store MiniReview
7) Teslagrad - PAID / Landscape
Teslagrad puts us in a dark dystopian world where we explore a mysterious scientific tower while hiding from representatives of a cruel totalitarian government. Here, we get hold of a power glove that allows us to utilize magnetic fields for various purposes.
The game is heavy on the puzzle side, and solving some of them requires quite a lot of brain effort and many quick precise movements. It doesn't play well without a controller.
App Store MiniReview
8) Dead Cells - PAID / Landscape
I don't consider Dead Cells to be a "metroidvania" in the classic sense of the word, but I'm sure many will complain if I don't include it here :) And to be fair, by my own definition at the top of this post, the game does live up to all the genre criteria. So here you have it.
Dead Cells is easily one of the most beloved action platformers on mobile. It features lots of weapons with unique play styles, extremely hardcore gameplay, tough enemies, and even tougher bosses. And above all - a roguelike mechanic that requires us to restart over and over, each time becoming slightly better thanks to the permanent upgrades. The touch controls are well done, but later levels and higher difficulties basically force us to use a controller.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a spiritual successor to the Castlevania series with an equally interesting story, deep lore, and the same level of hardcore combat, which involves many different weapons, cool-looking skills, and sick combos. Most of them will be hard to pull off with just the touch controls, so I highly recommend using a controller to enjoy this console-quality RPG.

6) Runic Curse - PAID / Landscape
Runic Curse is another "souls-like" platforming action game that requires us to constantly mind our stamina meter and back away from the fight when it drops too low. We have only 4 weapons but may equip them with elemental runes that significantly enrich the combat gameplay.
Despite the mediocre graphics, the game features everything I love about a good Metroidvania, so it rightfully sits in this list of my favorite games in the genre.

2024.05.13 15:37 SendThisVoidAway18 I prefer the Wii U over the Switch.

I am probably one of the few out there that do. But honestly, I like the Wii/Wii U generations. Call me simple I guess. There is something overall to me about the Switch that just feels... meh. I got one for free awhile back as a gift. Also, it probably doesnt help that half the time it doesnt seem to work properly for me. I can turn on the Wii U, and bam. No issues. Also, how cheap Wii U games are currently is a HUGE plus. For example.. I have been finding games like SSB4, Super Mario 3D Land and a few others for under 15 dollars CIB. Paying 40-60 dollars for the same ported game to the Switch.. Nah.. I'm good.

2024.05.13 04:58 GamingHearts1 Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse- 35 Years Later

Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse- 35 Years Later

Its hard to believe that it has been 35 years since Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse was released on the NES console. Dracula’s Curse was the sequel to the Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest which came out for the NES back in ’97 which many people still speak fondly about today. Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse was quite possibly one of the most difficult NES games ever made next to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game which also came out in 1989. Castlevania III saw Trevor C. Belmont as the main protagonist as he seeks to travel across the fictional country of Wallachia to defeat the main villain Dracula. The cool thing about Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse was the fact that players could recruit allies along the way in certain parts of the game. Some of the other playable characters included Grant Danasty, Sypha Belnades and Dracula’s son Alucard. Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse had sixteen stages with four different endings depending on the decisions player makes in regards to recruiting allies. Dracula’s Curse had a map which showed possible paths players could take within the game and was non-linear which made Castlevania III more intriguing than other NES platformers from the 80’s and early 90’s.
The setting of Dracula’s Curse took place towards the later part of the 15th century and level designs really captured the vibe of that particular time period in history. Despite, having access to useful weapons like daggers, holy water, axes and stopwatches Castlevania III was one of those games that made titles like Mega Man II seem like child’s play in terms of difficulty. Castlevania III did not quite reach one million copies in sales following its NES release but it clearly outsold its ’91 sequel for the SNES Super Castlevania IV. Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse eventually ended up being ported to the Wii-U and the Nintendo 3DS through the Virtual Console but never received an official remake. The Castlevania video game series is pretty much dead in this day and age and Konami should consider remastering classic NES titles like Dracula’s Curse in the future.
