What if Super Earth brought back the Trench Gun?
For those of you who do not know about the Trench Gun, it was a pump action shotgun put into use during WW1 and was extremely good at clearing out enemy trenches, hence the name. It was also called the Trench Sweeper because the pellet spread was so wide, it would hit both sides of the trench.
It also had an unexpected feature that soldiers called “slam firing”, where they would hold down the trigger and slam round after round of shells the general direction of the people they wanted to turn into swiss cheese. It was so overpowered, that the Germans, who dropped gas bombs on enemy troops, wanted to make its use a war crime!
In terms of game mechanics, this would be a primary weapon that would be an excellent swarm clearer, sweeping up any lightly armored enemy in the general direction of wherever the barrel is pointing, with a smaller magazine size, shorter range, and long-ish reload time to balance it out. It would also have an alt-fire mode that represents the slam firing feature. Just hold the right button, for example RMB on PC, and it would fire until you let go of the button or the magazine was empty. Single shots would be used on single targets and small groups, while slam firing would be for delivering democracy to larger hoards. What do you guys think?

Soon I'm getting a total of 1k and I been craving a gaming pc for a while that can run high end games on high >or= graphics and 100+ fps, but I'm not entirely sure if 1k is enough for a pc like this
I already own a mouse, keyboard, and 1440p 155Hz monitor. If its of any help, the monitor includes AMD FreeSync premium, QHD, and 1ms (whatever that is)
Update: to specify I live in Switzerland and we use Swiss Franc which as of today is 1 franc = 1.10 dollars

https://ionq.com/posts/letter-to-stockholders-about-ionqs-2023-annual-report
Dear Shareholders,
It has been yet another phenomenal year in IonQ’s history.
In the last year alone, we have pushed the limits of quantum computing performance, achieving our 2024 target performance level of 35 algorithmic qubits (#AQ) a full year ahead of schedule and unlocking a new magnitude of quantum computer performance. Meanwhile, we sold IonQ’s largest deals to date–landmark contracts with the United States Air Force Research Lab and the Swiss industry group QuantumBasel, expanding our product offerings to both compute and networking.
I want to dedicate this year’s letter to discussing some of the common misconceptions and questions we get from both customers and investors.
  1. Will IonQ, and quantum computing in general, achieve quantum supremacy?
  2. When will the quantum market take off?
  3. Why does IonQ use trapped ion qubits in its quantum systems?
  4. What does IonQ think of other announced breakthroughs in quantum?
  5. Do trapped ion systems have a path to scale?
  6. Are trapped ions fast enough to tackle large applications in the future?
  7. Will IonQ win in the quantum computing market?
We have a lot to cover, so let’s jump in.
Will IonQ, and quantum computing in general, achieve “quantum supremacy”?
“Quantum supremacy” is a broadly used term in the academic circles of the quantum computing industry. Definitions of the term vary, but “quantum supremacy” generally refers to a quantum computer solving a problem that would be impossible for a classical computer to solve.
The short answer is no, I don’t think IonQ–or anyone else–can empirically prove quantum supremacy because of how difficult it is to prove that something is “impossible”. Based on history, it’s a fool’s errand to say something can’t be done; human ingenuity is seemingly boundless. That’s why I believe quantum supremacy is not a helpful proof point.
Moreover, no other commercial product has ever had “supremacy” as a bar to be successful. In the business world, for a new product to dislodge an existing one, it must provide practical advantages, such as faster time to solution, cost effectiveness, accuracy, availability, convenience, etc…or other advantages.
At IonQ, in very basic terms, we need to build a “better mouse trap” that solves a customer’s particular problem better than other options available today. We call this “commercial advantage”.
When will the quantum market take off?
Within the quantum industry, there are two camps. Some believe that a large number (think millions) of fault tolerant qubits will be required to do anything useful with quantum. This belief leads them to the conclusion that quantum is still many years away. Some quantum companies have bet all their chips on this belief.
We (and others), on the other hand , are in the camp that believe that it is possible to build useful NISQ (noisy intermediate-scale quantum) era applications that provide commercial advantage. To achieve this, high quality gate fidelities are required. We believe that gives us an advantage in the short term because IonQ’s trapped ion systems have naturally higher fidelities than competing systems. We can also leverage IonQ’s sizeable cash position and cash from early sales to fund further development towards fault-tolerant systems.
It is worth noting that over the last couple of years, several companies originally in the first camp have come over to our point of view, acknowledging the potential power of NISQ applications.
Within IonQ’s application group, we are increasingly focused on finding and building these applications.
Why does IonQ use trapped ion qubits in its quantum systems?
Trapped ions are a relatively mature technology with the highest native gate fidelities known to the industry. IonQ’s systems are also uniquely capable of all-to-all connectivity and have a comparatively easy path to room temperature quantum computing and networking. We believe that with our new barium ion qubits, it is possible to get close to 99.99% average two-qubit gate fidelity. We also believe that as applications become larger, the all-to-all connectivity enabled by our unique architecture will allow larger applications to run with reduced qubit count. Last, our ability to network quantum processing units using room temperature room temperature optical fiber will allow us to scale the number of qubits quickly.
You might have heard me say that in the longer term, other qubit modalities might become interesting. Each qubit modality has a unique set of challenges and risk profiles to overcome to achieve fault tolerant quantum computing at scale, and we remain highly confident in the advantages of trapped ions.
Nevertheless, I like to think we are pragmatists, similar to the early days at Apple. At the time, Macs used a Motorola 68K family processor. After several years, they moved to PowerPC. I assume that Apple thought the Motorola processor was the best available in that particular time period, but evolved to use the PowerPC when the technical and business landscape made it more advantageous.
We will continue to monitor progress of other qubit modalities as they make progress over time. And we will continue to ask ourselves, “Are we on the best horse in this race?” In our team’s opinion, that answer is a strong yes.
What does IonQ think of other announced breakthroughs in quantum?
First, it’s an exciting time in quantum. Progress is accelerating on all fronts.
In quantum newsfeeds, it seems like someone announces a breakthrough in quantum almost every day. However, the path from the lab to the market is time- and capital-intensive. And we have yet to see a silver bullet–most of the “breakthrough” announcements we see have some risk or caveat that still has yet to be overcome.
I think the word breakthrough is overused nowadays. However, we continue to monitor the progress in the industry and are unflinching in our pursuit of trapped ion quantum computing.
Do trapped ions have a path to scale?
Early trapped ion quantum computers looked a lot more like the first programmable digital computer, ENIAC. They were large, bulky with wires and optics everywhere. Like ENIAC, it was hard to imagine how they would scale.
However, our engineering team is working on ways to compact future generations of IonQ systems into a form factor designed to fit a standard data center rack. We expect our chips to run at room temperature and to use standard silicon photonics fabrication techniques used for other telecommunications and data center products today.
We have also shared at length our plans to scale the qubit count of our systems with techniques like multicore processing and photonic interconnects. Just last quarter, we announced the first significant step in demonstrating our photonic interconnect technology, with other demonstrations planned throughout the year.
In both form factor improvements and increasing qubit count, I believe IonQ’s path to scale is clear.
Are trapped ions fast enough to tackle large applications in the future?
A successful company needs to time its investments to meet the market’s needs. Today, fast gate speeds are not critical because quantum applications are still small. However, as we scale up to larger applications, gate speeds will be increasingly important.
In previous announcements, we have explained why innovations like our barium qubits are paving the path for faster trapped ion gate speeds. Moreover, we believe other optimizations in our technical stack could lead to substantial improvements in gate speed, such that our trapped ion qubits are not a limiting factor in gate speed yet. We expect that the next generation IonQ systems will continue to speed up to allow the commensurate applications to be run on them.
Will IonQ win in the quantum computing market?
To address this problem, most people are tempted to dive into the weeds about the different qubit modalities. I think this is a mistake.
Today’s quantum market reminds me of the mid ‘80’s where wars raged over RISC vs. CISC and NMOS vs. ECL vs. CMOS. All the competing vendors had slides and performance claims touting why their architecture and their semiconductor process and their manufacturing prowess would make them the obvious winner. Most of those companies are now forgotten because much of that noise didn’t really matter. In classical computing (and all complex systems), a wide variety of factors and tradeoffs determine final performance. No one single feature determines what is “best”.
And maybe more importantly, a wide variety of factors outside of the technology determine what makes a “winning” company. Things like management team experience, industry focus, access to capital, manufacturing costs, profit margins, sales channels, and much more–and sometimes just good old fashioned luck.
Here is what I believe: in the near term, trapped ion systems will win because they have the best gate fidelities allowing the largest quantum algorithms to be run. I believe that trapped ion technology will be miniaturized to fit on a handful of photonic chips that make it cheap and easy to scale.
I also believe that other qubit modalities will have to follow the same path, a path that is very capital intensive. IonQ has the advantage of a strong balance sheet and access to a non-dilutive source of cash from sales to our early customers. This will allow us to be cash flow positive early and continue to invest over the long term.
Thanks for reading and for supporting IonQ this year!
Sincerely,
Peter Chapman CEO and President, IonQ

Why can't everyone just do as they are asked? NIKE THE HELL OUT OF IT AND JUST DO IT!
SERIOUSLY! Just I work in a knowledge management position, and so my work is literally just gather, sift through, organize and maintain, and share knowledge. WHY DO NOT PEOPLE JUST THEN DO THE BARE REQUESTED MINIMUM AND ALWAYS REQUEST CHANGES? Like come on people it is just really that simple! Do with it already! UGH WHY ! Then things get completely changed up and I end up with a pseudo- outcome that serves the purpose but with more holes than swiss cheese :))

I wish people would just do as Foxie asks. It is all for a good reason. Yet, when you explain it to them, they just never listen. People frustrated foxie.

2024.05.08 07:43 Silberim Is my PC overkill?

Hello everyone!
I am currently building my 2nd ever PC and I'm just as excited as the first time, but also very scared that I am making the same mistakes. The first build I went overboard with fancy tech that hiked up the price to above 3'000$ with things like Asus' custom watercooled AMD Radeon 6900XT that didn't vastly improve my experience compared to something cheaper, costing me close to half my build...
So I am seeking tips and recommendations to help avoid this problem, above are components that I have in mind, let me know what y'alls thoughts are.
The prices are in swiss francs, the conversion right now is 1CHF = 1.10USD making the total right now 2'600$ (prices here are higher in general, keep that in mind).

2024.05.05 11:16 KindaDumber Superhero Strategy and Management Game utilizing the JLU (Justice LEAGUE Unlimited) Universe

This is going to be my first post ever on reddit so if I get anything wrong or am doing something off please feel free to correct me.
Furthermore I'd like to state that I never had the time or resources to read the comics or watch every single Justice League Show so if I do get any lore, personalization or details wrong I am VERY open to discussion. I LOVE the JLU Series it's direct dopamine into my veins and talking about it, whenever I can, is one of my favorite things to do.
Lastly, the game in my head operates on the idea that somehow Warner Bros and DC will be fully amenable to let anyone just use their characters, settings, ideas, concepts etc. This game is never going to get made, but I'd still like to share my ideas so that, in the future, if anyone is re watching the JLU and get's the same itch as me, there's something to scratch it.
With that let's get to the meat of these potatoes
THE BASIC IDEA Xcom but with the Justice League
THE NOT-SO BASIC IDEA The game takes place a few months after the last episode of the Justice League Unlimited series. The Player Character (PC) plays as J'on J'onzz or Mr. Terrific (or maybe even themselves?) and is tasked with directing and formulating teams of heroes to attend to the many problems on Earth, and the nearby universe. Though it's not that easy, each hero has their own personalities that clash, benefits and weaknesses to being assigned to each unique mission, etc. Furthermore, once a team is sent to a mission, the game goes from team management to turn-based strategy as the PC has to direct the heroes on how they act and fight.
With that there are two aspects to the game. Firstly where the PC has to pick and choose which heroes go where and for what, and second the PC dictates the moves of the heroes they chose during the mission. I'll refer to these two aspects as Watchtower Management, and Field Management.
WATCHTOWER MANAGEMENT As cool as it would be to simply send Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman on every mission, you're a strategist, and you should know that brute forcing every mission or problem like that isn;t the most efficient way to do things. You should understand the strengths and weaknesses of each hero and assign them to the missions appropriate to them. A nuclear meltdown might appreciate heroes like Captain Atom or the Flash more than the Big three. Furthermore, heroes (even the founding members) get into their little spats along the way due to their personalities clashing, and continually forcing them together on missions would greatly hinder their effectiveness (no matter how good they are), or even lead to heroes resigning from the league. Thus it is your responsibility to ensure that you've got a good balance between a positive work environment and an effective task force. I mean, with funding from Wayne indutries you don't need to worry about money, resources and man power. So just focus on your best resource, your heroes.
Each Hero has 5 traits that help define them, each trait has their own number of categories to help differentiate heroes from one another, The traits are as follows:
Origin (Where or how the hero got their powers, Magic, Technology, or Enhancement) Residence (The specific piece of Earth, or the Universe, that the hero defends, Metropolis, OA, Star city, etc.) Loyalty (Basically who or what the Hero will fight for when it comes down to it, Country, Humanity, Self-Preservation, Law, or the Universe) Ideal (The ultimate goal, aside from common good, of the hero, Strength, Skill, Magic, Science, Society, or Revenge) Nature (How the hero acts, most of the time, Peaceful, Headstrong, Deductive or Charismatic)
With that each hero is a mix of one of the categories of all five traits. Take Vigilante, he'd look a little something like this: Origin: Enhanced Residence: America Loyalty: Country Ideal: Skill Nature: Charismatic
Now what are all these categories even for?
Well they indicate to you as a strategist how any specific hero is going to interact with any other hero or with any specific mission. To illustrate this let's continue using Vigilante as an example.
Let's say two mobs are at war somewhere in America. Vigilante would be a good choice for a hero to send, given that he's fighting people who utilize the same tools as him (in that they are "Enhanced" not aided by supremely advanced technology or magic, just guns and fists) and the area and it's customs would be familliar to him (Since his residence is America)
Huntress might be a good option to send with him given she's also an Enhanced Hero from America, but they would have conflicting loyalties, Huntress is Self-Preserving which Vigilante, a Patriot, would likely not appreciate, making them both less effective in tandem than they would be individually, if they were to be sent together. On the other hand, they both value skill, thus if the mission would push them to the limits of their marksman capabilites having two heroes with ideals in skill would be highly favorable as it would be hitting two birds with one mission, weighing between these choices is one of your tasks as a player.
Even on individually heroes matter, being charismatic Vigilante might persuade the mob bosses to resort to charming the mob bosses instead of facing the mafias head on (like supergirl, a headstrong hero, would do). Direct autonomy on the choices and actions heroes take in missions will be "further discussed" in the "Field Management" Segment of this post but in general, having heroes of specific natures, ideals, etc. makes it more likely for options and choices that reflect those traits to appear throughout the course of the game.
Again, I'd like to reiterate here that I am by NO MEANS an expert on the lore of the franchise or its heroes for that matter, thus if you feel like I get any traits or characterizations wrong feel free to correct me, but nicely, please.
Furthermore, you also have to take care to actually read the information given to you about missions (think the level/lore descriptions that show up before each level in Kingdom Rush), as not all of them can be directly solved through combat, for that matter just because a mission is combat oriented doesn't mean that any combat-focused hero should be sent there. Like an invasion on an extra terrestrial mine, you might be tempted to just send Superman and Supergirl and be done with it, but a careful parsing through the information shows that the miners were using kyrptonite tipped weapons, thus sending our supers there would make the mission much harder to complete efficiently.
Additionally, even if you do find a "Swiss Army Knife Hero" that fits most situations you can't send them out too frequently. Every time a hero completes a mission, they get an increase in fame, which could help out in diplomacy missions, but in general the more fame a hero builds the more villains know about them, and the more villains know about them, the better they can prepare to face them.
If all that seems too complex to remember or analyze, recall that you're playing as a strategist, and staying on top of these things would be your job. Though there are some rule of thumb "hurr durr" mechanics so more casual players can still accomplish pseudo efficient Watchtower Management. Generally heroes should face missions of similar origins to them, Zatanna (A magical Hero) should deal with Magical threats (she gets a bonus or something, IDK the specific boosts or detriments any hero gets are still up in the air so feel free to comment). Also, heroes who fight in their area of residence get boosts too.
In general, Watchtower management is about understanding and analyzing what a mission needs and providing the appropriate hero who can supply that.
FIELD MANAGEMENT(Still very loose with what to do here but I have a basic idea IG)
Now once you've sent your team off to wherever, the game focuses in on the select roster you chose. Now this can go about a few ways based on the nature of the mission. Diplomacy missions play out almost like a visual novel or Ace Attorney where you're given a few dialogue boxes to choose from to try and converse to others in a way that benefits you. Having more heroes of a specific Ideal or Nature, etc, boost the chances of dialogue boxes related to those traits appearing. Vigilante on your roster creates a higher chance of "charming" dialogue boxes popping up allowing you to charm a minion to blurt out their master's scheme, or charm a guard to let you into the venue. However you aren't locked onto using that choice as there will always be a neutral positive and negative option given to you so you can always command heroes to say yes or no to what is offered to them.
Alternatively missions could be rescue or combat based which I haven't ironed out much. It's likley to play out like XCOM or fire emblem in that you command heroes to travel across grids per turn to do things and accomplish goals. However I do know that I want all heroes that share an origin to have a unified basic movement and attack based on that origin and a unique advanced movement and/or attach based on them.
OTHER THINGS
Aside from combat and stuff i also haven't ironed out how heroes are going to level up or even if they should? like they're heroes for a reason so starting them off really weak and stuff would be weird? also acquiring them, do you just have a humungous roster of heroes to pick from the start, or do you gain more as you go on? If so why were those heroes not in the or affiliated to the JL in the first place? Lastly I do know that I want to implement a "Leader" system based on that episode where Hawk Girl, Vixen and Vigilante get ambushed by Thanagarians, but IDK how a Leader would work/operate in a game like this. Also STATS should I or shouldn't I, how would they work? etc IDK.
CONCLUSION That ends my idea so far, if you have any comments suggestions or clarifications feel free to ask them, also if anyone is up to use this idea, go for it, though I would LOVE to help out in any way you'd allow me to.
If you made it this far thanks for reading and I hope you got something from this, have a great day!

2024.05.04 15:37 suholdmeback How accessible is buying/trading kpop merch (albums, pcs, etc) in EU/Switzerland?

Hi everyone!
I'm writing to ask because I'll be moving to Zurich in a couple of months, and am considering bringing my pc collection over to continue maintaining (and growing) it while I'm there. I mainly collect Seventeen, but occasionally some other groups as well.
I'm not sure how active the fanbase is in EU, especially in Switzerland, so I'm hoping to get some answers here from Swiss/EU carats/kpop fans in general:
Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!

🔗Sig Sauer ZULU10 HDX Binoculars - Elite Performance Binoculars with Advanced Lens Technology

https://preview.redd.it/690co8qr1txc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7be69fd6b2fa4d7d8fb886b992bbe0f6639e2b24
I recently tried out the Sig Sauer ZULU10 HDX Binoculars and was blown away by their performance. These binoculars are specifically designed for the most demanding hunters, and the quality is evident as soon as you pick them up. The high-definition and high-transmission glass lenses provide crystal-clear image resolution and impressive light transmission, making it perfect for both day and night use.
One of the standout features for me was the best-in-class Abbe Koenig prism, which produces incredibly sharp images from morning till night. The rugged metal chassis with rubberized armor adds a touch of durability while still providing a comfortable grip. The 3-position adjustable eyecups are handy, as they maintain their position even during frequent movement.
The ultra-wide broadband, anti-reflection lens coatings are impressive, significantly reducing surface reflections across the entire visible spectrum. This results in superior light transmission and an overall better viewing experience. The abrasion-resistant lens coatings also enhance the durability of these binoculars, while the mil-spec oleophobic coating effectively sheds water, oil, and dirt from the lenses.
What's more, the fog- and waterproof IPX-7-rated construction ensures reliable performance in the most extreme weather conditions. The included molded EVA carrying case and tripod adapter with a standard 1/4-20" threaded insert make these binoculars convenient and easy to use in the field.
My experience with the ZULU10 HDX Binoculars has been nothing short of excellent, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-notch performance and durability in their optics.

🔗Brilliant 12x50 Jupiter Binoculars for Nature and Wildlife Observation

https://preview.redd.it/en7r2a4s1txc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e8f938cccfa959efa02bf99c75190e0387c29ec
As a true birdwatching aficionado, I was immediately drawn to the Pentax Jupiter 12x50 Binoculars. The moment I held these beautiful binoculars in my hands, I knew they were a true asset to my nature-filled excursions. The exterior design of these binoculars is top-notch, with an easy access to the focus ring and a comfortable hold. I love the exterior rubber coating which ensures a firm hold of the body, preventing any accidental slippage. This feature is particularly important when I'm out in the wild, carefully observing my feathered friends.
One of the most impressive aspects of these Jupiter binoculars is their multi-coating, designed to minimize unwanted reflection of light. The bright, clear field of vision is nothing short of breathtaking, offering a three-dimensional view that makes me feel like I'm right there with the birds in the backyard. The 12x magnification, coupled with the 50mm front lens diameter, provides a balanced ratio of magnification and light intensity, making these binoculars versatile and suitable for various observation scenarios.
However, one downside that I noticed is the optical zoom's 12x multiplier, which can sometimes make it slightly shaky during handheld use. This issue is compensated by the built-in tripod thread, allowing these binoculars to be mounted for those longer wildlife observation sessions. Overall, the Pentax Jupiter 12x50 Binoculars are an exceptional choice for any birding enthusiast, offering crystal-clear views and a comfortable, functional design that ensures a pleasant and engaging observational experience.

🔗High-Performance Water and Fog Proof Binoculars - 12x50mm Power for Optimal Viewing

https://preview.redd.it/cqi5e6gs1txc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3cc1d21a0e407ac6bef9bc7bd336777377b8826
As someone who enjoys stargazing, I was immediately drawn to the Cassini 12x50mm Water and Fog Proof Binoculars. The first thing I noticed was their stylish appearance – the matte finish made them feel sturdy, and the Cassini logo added a touch of sophistication. They're also very comfortable to use, with soft, rubber-coated eyecups that made long viewing sessions totally painless.
One of the most impressive features of these binoculars is their ability to perform well in any weather. I've taken them on hikes in pouring rain and even used them in the freezing cold at night. Not once did they fog up or let in any water – a testament to their water and fog proof qualities.
Another feature that stood out to me was the center focus mechanism. It's so easy to adjust and allowed me to achieve super-sharp images of the stars, planets, and other celestial objects I've been observing. The diopter adjustment ring also made it simple for me to fine-tune the focus to my eyesight, ensuring a crystal-clear view every time.
The only downside I encountered was the lack of an image stabilizer. As someone who tends to shake a bit when viewing through binoculars, this feature would have been incredibly helpful. However, despite this setback, I still think the Cassini 12x50mm provides exceptional value for its price range. With their stellar performance and rugged durability, these binoculars have earned a spot in my stargazing gear rotation and will continue to be my go-to for all my observing needs.

🔗Pentax SP 12X50 WP Binoculars: Unbeatable Outdoor Adventures

https://preview.redd.it/v6gfchqs1txc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42ad2722d10f0374b04e53f03f6af52c9afbe50b
I recently tried the Pentax SP 12x50 WP Binoculars, and I have to say, they exceeded my expectations. As someone who loves birdwatching and stargazing, I was impressed by the binocular's ability to provide clear, crisp images, even in low light conditions.
One of the standout features was the fully multi-coated optics, which allowed for maximum light transmission and contrast-rich viewing. The phase correction also made a significant difference in the overall image quality. The protective lens coating and nitrogen purging ensured that the binoculars remained clean and fog-free, even during my adventures in the great outdoors.
However, there were a couple of cons to consider. The binoculars were a bit heavy, which made them a bit challenging to hold for extended periods. Additionally, the eyecups could have been more comfortable for extended use.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I was extremely satisfied with the Pentax SP 12x50 WP Binoculars. With their superior image quality and sturdy construction, they make an excellent addition to any nature enthusiasts' collection.

The binoculars themselves offered impressive 12x magnification and 50mm large objective lenses, making it easier for me to spot my feathered friends from a distance. The Porro Prism technology provided a bright, clear, and razor-sharp viewing experience, even when using it in low-light conditions.
The kit came with a variety of accessories, including a universal smartphone adapter, a tripod, and a comfortable neck strap. It was particularly helpful to have the Bluetooth remote control, allowing me to easily capture photos of the birds I was observing.
However, there were a few drawbacks as well. The binoculars were quite heavy, which made them a little challenging to carry during long hikes. Additionally, the carrying case could have been more sturdy to protect the gear from any accidental drops.

I've been using the Nikon PROSTAFF 5 12x50 binoculars for a while now and I can say they've been a game-changer for me. The first thing that stood out to me was the multicoated lenses which provided an incredibly bright and clear view of the outdoors. The large 50mm objective lenses were a major plus, especially when observing in lower light situations during dawn and dusk.
The turn-and-slide eyecups and long eye relief made for a comfortable viewing experience, even when I was wearing eyeglasses. Another feature I appreciated was the smooth central focus knob, which allowed for quick and detailed focus on nearby objects or those at a distance.
What I didn't love so much was the weight of the binoculars. At 27.9 oz, they were a bit on the heavy side, but still manageable for my outdoor adventures. And while the tripod adapter was highly advertised as a feature, it turned out to be a bit more complicated to connect to the binoculars. I had to use a universal tripod adapter, which, though it worked, wasn't exactly what I was hoping for.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I found the PROSTAFF 5 binoculars to be well worth the investment. The comfort, clarity, and durability offered made it an excellent choice for my outdoor activities.

One of the first things I noticed about these binoculars is their impressive 12x magnification, which has been a game-changer when observing subjects from far away. The clarity and brightness of the images produced by these binoculars are exceptional, even in challenging lighting conditions. The anti-reflection fully multi-coated lens coatings play a significant role in delivering these impressive optics.
While some may argue that the size and weight of these binoculars could be a drawback, I've found that they're surprisingly lightweight and comfortable to hold, especially considering their impressive capabilities. The closed bridge configuration also helps minimize hand shake, making them more comfortable to use for extended periods.
One of my favorite features of the Kowa 12x50 SV II Binoculars is the inclusion of an optional tripod adapter. It's a convenient addition that makes them more versatile and user-friendly, especially for those who prefer a hands-free experience.
In conclusion, the Kowa 12x50 SV II Binoculars have exceeded my expectations in terms of performance and usability. They've proven to be a reliable and durable companion on my journey through various terrains. The Leica Ultravid HD-Plus series offers a crystal clear and sharp viewing experience, making it perfect for nature enthusiasts. With its phase-correcting coating P40 and Highlux-system HLS, the binoculars guarantee outstanding image brightness even in low light conditions. The large objective lens diameter allows for excellent detail and color contrast, making it ideal for observing stars, wildlife, or close-up details.
The binoculars prioritize durability with their AquaDura coating, which repels dirt and water effectively while protecting the lenses from scratches and abrasion. The automatic diopter compensation ensures a comfortable and accurate focus for the user. Overall, the Leica Ultravid HD-Plus binoculars provide an impressive viewing experience and are versatile enough for various outdoor activities.

These Nikon Aculon binoculars have been a game-changer in my outdoor activities, offering a bright and clear viewing experience even under low light conditions. I love the adjustable eyepiece lenses that promise undistorted images across the entire surface of the lens, making my experiences more enjoyable. The rubber-armored coating ensures a firm grip, even when the conditions get wet.
However, one thing that makes me a bit hesitant is the vulnerability to moisture. I wish there was an option to get a water-resistant version, but that's just a minor inconvenience.
Overall, the Nikon Aculon binoculars provide excellent image quality, durability, and ease of use, making them a great choice for anyone looking for budget-friendly optics.

🔗High-powered, fog-proof camo binoculars for outdoor adventures

As an avid hunter and nature enthusiast, I recently decided to upgrade my binocular game with the Redfield Rebel Camo 12x50 Binoculars. The first thing that stood out to me was their sleek, camo design; it's a great addition to my hunting gear and blends seamlessly into my outdoor environment.
One of the biggest highlights for me was the low dispersion, fully multicoated lenses and the roof prism design. These features combine to provide an incredibly clear and crisp vision, even when viewing objects at a distance. The nitrogen purge and sealed design also means these binoculars are fog-proof and waterproof, which is perfect for my unpredictable hunting conditions.
However, something I noticed that could be considered a downside is the weight of these binoculars. They're not too heavy, but I've found that after a long day of hunting, my arms do get a bit tired carrying them around.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase of the Redfield Rebel Camo 12x50 Binoculars. They've made a huge difference in my hunting experience, and I highly recommend them to fellow nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

🔗Premium 12x50 Magnification Binoculars - Ultimate Wildlife Viewing Experience

These Hawke 12x50 Endurance ED binoculars are an impressive piece of equipment, perfect for those who love wildlife viewing or simply want a reliable pair of binoculars for various activities. I've been using it for some time and it's been a game-changer in helping me spot critters in the woods during dawn or dusk.
The first thing that strikes you is the lightweight magnesium alloy chassis, which makes it easy to carry around. It's ergonomically designed with smooth focus knobs, easy to use even with gloves on. The nitrogen-filled design ensures the binoculars stay fog-free and waterproof, adding to their reliability.
However, the adjustable eyepiece can be a bit cumbersome at times. Also, it's not without flaws- some users have reported minor issues with the lens caps staying in place. But overall, the pros outweigh the cons with this pair of binoculars.
The extra-low dispersion glass objectives really help in reducing chromatic aberrations, which I found significantly enhanced the quality of the image. I've used it for both stargazing and wildlife spotting, and it always delivered clear, sharp images.
While some accessories might seem a bit cheaper, they do the job just fine. The dioptre adjustment is simple and straightforward. Overall, for its price, I'd say this is a fantastic buy. It's sturdy, portable, easy to use, and offers excellent value for money.

I recently started using the 12x50 Full Size Binoculars for Adults, and I must say, I'm quite impressed with the features of this compact yet powerful device. The Porro Prism binoculars provide a 367 feet field of view and a 12 multiplier zoom ratio, making it perfect for observing the magnificent beauty of the natural world.
One of the standout features for me was the easy-to-focus center focus system. It made it a breeze to adjust and get a clear view, no matter the situation. The shock-absorbing exterior and cushioned eye caps also made for a comfortable viewing experience with my glasses on.
Another highlight was the versatility of the binoculars. With the universal smartphone adapter, I could easily attach it to my smartphone or camera and take stunning photos and videos of the world around me. And the water-resistant feature ensured I could use it in various weather conditions, without fear of damage.

When I first got my hands on the Vortex Diamondback HD binoculars, I was excited to see how they would compare to other high-end models. The first thing I noticed was the build quality. It felt sturdy and well-constructed, especially considering the affordable price point. The rubber armor provided a comfortable, non-slip grip that made it easy to hold and maneuver.
One feature that really stood out was the Armortek coating on the lenses. Not only did it protect the exterior from scratches, but it also kept them cleaner for longer periods of time, making the experience more enjoyable. The HD Optical System and fully multi-coated lenses delivered sharp and clear images, even in low light conditions.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks that I encountered. The first was the adjustability of the eyecups. While they did twist up and down for comfortable viewing, I found that they didn't always lock in place securely, which could be an issue during active use. The second was the size and weight of the binoculars. Although they were comfortable to carry, their bulkiness made them difficult to transport in tight spaces or when going on long hikes.
Overall, the Vortex Diamondback HD binoculars provided an impressive experience at an affordable price. While there were a few minor drawbacks, the pros definitely outweighed the cons. I would highly recommend these binoculars to anyone looking for a high-quality, budget-friendly option for their outdoor activities.

🔗Vortex Viper HD 12x50 Binoculars: High-Quality, Rubber Armored Optics for Precise Viewing

From the moment I laid my hands on the Vortex Viper HD 12x50 Binoculars, I was instantly struck by their sleek and sturdy build. The rubber-armored exterior not only provides a comfortable grip but also adds a touch of elegance to its appearance.
But the real stars of the show are those powerful 12x magnification lenses. They offer a jaw-droppingly clear and sharp image, even in low light conditions. The XR anti-reflection coating, which improves contrast and color reproduction, ensures that everything you're looking at truly comes alive.
The binoculars' field of view was another major highlight for me. It provided a wide, immersive view that made it incredibly easy to spot distant objects. This feature was particularly useful when I was out in the open, observing wildlife from a distance.
The adjustable diopter worked like a charm, allowing me to fine-tune each eyepiece to my individual eye comfort. And the generous 50mm objective lens diameter and 4.2mm exit pupil provided ample brightness, making it easy to use in any lighting situation.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. I found the focus system to be a bit slow at times, which could be frustrating when trying to quickly lock onto a moving target. And the included carrying bag, while convenient, didn't have the most comfortable chest harness, making it a bit of a hassle to wear and carry for extended periods.
Despite these small quibbles, the Vortex Viper HD 12x50 Binoculars easily proved to be a sturdy companion on my wildlife-watching adventures. Its exceptional performance and durability have made it a go-to choice whenever I want to get a closer look at the beauty of nature.

These binoculars are designed to withstand various weather conditions, thanks to their IPX6 waterproof rating and nitrogen-filled interior. They also come with a protective case, neck strap, and microfiber cleaning cloth to keep them safe and clean when not in use.
The Carson VX Series binoculars are incredibly versatile, making them perfect for a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, hunting, birdwatching, and even safaris. While they may be a bit heavy for some users, their durability and superior performance make them well worth the extra weight.

Buyer's Guide

12x50 binoculars are a popular choice among outdoor enthusiasts, offering a balance between magnification and size. In this buyer's guide, we'll discuss the key features and considerations when purchasing a pair of 12x50 binoculars.

Magnification and Field of View

12x50 binoculars provide 12 times more magnification than the naked eye, offering a clear and detailed viewing experience. The field of view (FOV) measures approximately 307 feet at 1000 yards, allowing users to observe a larger area compared to higher magnification models.

Lens Quality

High-quality lenses are crucial for accurate color rendition and image sharpness. Look for binoculars with fully multi-coated lenses, which use multiple layers of anti-reflective coating to minimize lens reflections and improve light transmission. Additionally, check if the lenses have a water-resistant and fog-proof coating to protect against environmental conditions.

Image Stabilization

Image stabilization technology helps reduce blurriness caused by hand or body movement. Consider binoculars with built-in image stabilization, which compensates for these movements and makes it easier to maintain a steady viewing experience. Some models may also incorporate a gyroscopic sensor that automatically adjusts the binoculars' stability based on head movement.

Durability and Weight

12x50 binoculars can be quite heavy, so consider the overall weight and the material used in construction. High-quality binoculars often use rugged and waterproof materials such as magnesium or aluminum alloy to ensure durability and protect against harsh environments.

Additional Features

  • Tripod mounting: Some binoculars may come with a built-in tripod mount, allowing for hands-free use in scenarios where image stabilization is not necessary or sufficient.
  • Diopter adjustment: This feature enables users with different vision levels to focus each eyepiece independently for a clearer image.
  • Night vision capability: Binoculars with Night Vision technology can enhance the viewing experience in low-light conditions.
  • Ergonomic design: Look for binoculars with a comfortable grip and adjustable eye cups for an enjoyable and easy-to-use experience.
When purchasing 12x50 binoculars, consider the features outlined above to ensure you find the perfect pair for your outdoor adventures. Don't forget to test the binoculars in-store or online to ensure they meet your expectations before making a final purchase. Happy shopping!

2024.04.30 12:45 FatboyJack Unable to get back Hacked Account

Hi there
I am making this post in the hope to shine some light at my problem but first a little bit of context:
I've always been a PC gamer. About 15 years ago, i bought a PS3 to play some CoD with my friends. I have not used that console in about 10 years but its still around. Earlier this year, Helldivers 2 released. the game looked fun, friend told me to get it, i got it. on logging in, it told me, i had to use a playstation account. at this point, i had forgotten about the old account i had at some point. the system reminded me of it when it told me the email i was trying to use was already in use. I recovered that account and played Helldivers with it.
Cut to sunday morning. I get 3 Emails telling me 2FA has been enabled. apparently EU support was unavailable on sunday. the system told me that i could contact NA support at around 7pm my time. i did that, they told me they cant help me, i gotta talk to the EU people. so i waited for the next day. I called german support (im swiss in case that matters) he told me i apparently made a UK account and i gotta call them.
So thats what i did and thats where the real fun began. please let me make clear that i am not upset at the individual talking to, he is merely the representative. This man told me that there are exactly 2 options for me to get my account back:
1: I tell him the serial number of the console my account was created on. I looked for my old console and, to my surprise, actually found it. When i read the guy on the phone the serial number on the console, he told me its wrong. I genuinely have no idea what device my account was created on, it was in 2011. I thought it would have been my ps3 but maybe it was some childhood friends device, who knows.
this brings us to option 2: I tell him some receipt numbers from my purchases. As far as i remember, i never made any purchase on the store (guy on the phone told me that was not the case but i genuinely do not remember owning any non-physical games). He was unable to even point me in any direction to find out what i was supposed to be looking for citing some shit about "sony's history".
so, i asked the guy "are you telling me, i am shit out of luck to get my account back"? to which he replied "if you cant comply with our security procedures i cant help you"
Ive seen twitter posts have some effects in the past so i tried that but the algorithm doesnt seem to randomly pick those up.
so thats where i am currently. i honestly dont even care to much about the fact that i cant play helldivers anymore but i hope you guys can understand that i genuinely do not want my account in other people's hands.
Edit: these are my earliest emails from playstation in case this helps.
Edit: i have to ask, why would anyone downvote this? if you feel like i need to provide additional information, please tell me and i will happily do so. i genuinely just want my account out of other people's hands.

2024.04.29 11:57 Imaginary_March2989 Picoboot install fail

Picoboot install fail
Had a go at installing picoboot on an old GameCube I had lying around. Go easy on my soldering skills it was my first go, and I know I've done more than I was supposed to but it was because first I followed a yt vid which had an official raspberry pi Pico then I realised my Ali express was slightly different. After I put it together and swiss didn't load up I went back and checked my SD card had ipl.dol, then interestingly I went to check I flashed the Pico correctly and now when I plug it into my PC it's not registering and the LED doesn't come on. Any help appreciated, though with my own GameCube this was practice for safe to say I may wait for flippydrive!

2024.04.29 01:41 Shmuggety Recommendations for 2.5G POE switch with 8 ports and LAN SFP?

Home user here. Couple of things to optimize at once:
  1. I have a FWG SE at home. My kids are getting into middle school age and I like the combination ease of use and family management stuff. Had eero for that but wanted to not depend on Amazon and send who knows what kind of data to them. Would like to retain the FW as gateway/router for these reasons, otherwise I might be considering a Cloud Gateway Ultra.
  2. Local ISP (Sonic) just laid fiber on my street. Getting 2.0 Gb/s up and down now. Can upgrade to 10G for +$10/mo but honestly don’t need it now. FWG SE can do 2 Gb/s so that’s nice.
  3. Wife just built a shed/office out back. Could just run Cat 6, but thinking it would be nice to future-proof and trench some fiber in conduit while the yard is yet to be repaired. It’s about 100’ from server closet to shed, half of which is through crawlspace and half outdoors. At the shed, can just have a RJ45 converter but an AP would be nice too. The shed is metal walls + roof. Hopefully her phone still works in there.
  4. Want to replace the 3 Eeros I’m still renting from the ISP. Would be nice to be able to tune radio strength. I have friendly neighbors all around and don’t want to blast everyone with 1 cranked up “long range” AP. I am not convinced I need more than WiFi 5 for the next couple years.
So I was thinking to get UniFi switch and maybe just some of the Swiss Army Knife APs with wired backhaul. I have run and punched down cable in a couple places already.
Honestly the US-8-150W POE product looks close to what I’m imagining, but I’d like to have 2.5G ports and I think that product may be EOL anyway. I am hoping I can run the UniFi Controller via docker on the FW.
Thoughts or recommendations? The “something” could be more than 1 thing, if that makes sense. And it doesn’t have to be UniFi. It does have to require very little care and feeding. When I was in college my money was worth more than my time and I flashed my Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato and had lots of fun. Now it is the other way around. Respect for those tinkering with Mikrotic etc but I have grown old and need the ease.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or recommendations!
Edit: the arrows below look right in the editor but not after saving the post. How do I make a nice DAG in Reddit?
ISP (2.0 Gb/s, up to 10 Gb/s in future) ↑ FWG SE ↑ (something) ← 100’ fiber ← RJ45 + AP in shed ↑↑↑↑ 3 APs (PoE) + 1 port for PC in house

2024.04.28 21:16 SaltyConversation Swiss file fragmented error after ripping ISO with CleanRip

Hey all,
I have a GC modded with PicoBoot and running Swiss v0.6r1622 via SD2SP2 with a 128GB Fat-32 formatted SanDisk SD. I have ripped some of my games for backup successfully with CleanRip to the SD card, and each rip has completed successfully with verification from the gamecube dat file. However, I cannot launch the ripped games from Swiss afterwards. I instead get the error: "Failed to setup the file. Too fragmented?"
The games I already have installed on the SD card from my PC launch and play just fine. The games that I have ripped are authentic, original GC mini discs, so I'm not sure what the issue could be, other than what other threads here have mentioned concerning the too fragmented error, namely, that the game files get fragmented when adding to an SD card with certain methods, either through ripping or copying all the game files from a PC all at once.
Any advice would be appreciated!

2024.04.28 01:59 Fireheart251 Disrespected on the job (very long rant)

tl;dr I worked for an old lady who I'm pretty sure is racist and she almost made me cry. But she had a point that I lack some basic skills for the job I'm doing, but still I wasn't hired to be a personal chef, and don't deserve being talked down to when I was just trying to help her.
So I work as a home attendant/home health aide. If you don't know what that is, it's for elderly and/or disabled people who don't have kids, to have someone to help them around the house and even outside the house. I haven't been working this job long and only took it because, well, I'm a neet and don't have many options. HHA is an easy field to get in to, you take a short training course and then you start working, basically. While they teach us about medical stuff we need to know to help the client (the person receiving care) out, they don't teach us about the basic skills we need, likely because they already assume we have them... I knew it was a bad idea getting into this field because of how incapable I am (I am/was neet after all).
Mostly, this job is equivalent to being a maid. You primarily clean up, and bring things to the client from around their house (like hey, can you bring me the remote, or find my eyeglasses? sorta stuff) but most of all, you cook for them. And I barely know how to cook. I know how to cook some stuff (baked chicken, fried shrimp, macaroni) but I've never had to cook for other people. I'm used to just cooking the things I like, the way I like, I don't know how to cook foods I don't eat, and I'm a slow learner. I'm 29 and only really started cooking at 27, before that I mostly just depended on my parents to cook, fast food, tv dinners, and occasionally the more simple things I could make like french fries or boiled rice. I wasn't expecting cooking to be such a big part of the job, although now it should've been obvious it would involve a lot of cooking. So far the other people I've worked have had no problem instructing me how to cook the things they like, and being patient with me, and the food came out decent enough I guess, the client usually ate all or most of it. I'm also not great at doing laundry. I wash my bed sheets/blankets in the washing machine, but I mostly handwash all my clothes and underwear on an as-needed basis. Mostly because I can't figure out how to separate colors from whites (most of my clothes have multiple colors on them so idk which is which, and I've had many cases where the color spreads, so it makes me nervous about doing other people's laundry, what if I mess it up and they get angry?)
Today I worked for a 95 year old white woman. It's important I mention her race because I am a black woman, essentially working as a maid for her. The moment I walked into this lady' house she had such a bad idea. Cursing at me ("wtf are you doing, where the eff are you? i need help!" etc), telling me I don't know shit, I'm terrible at my job. I told her I only started working 5 months ago, in November 2023, and she told me that's nothing, something about a real job is something you've worked years at (i dont remember exactly what she said but she seemed disappointed/upset that I haven't been in the field long, and apparently am an "amateur").
The most egregious thing though was when she asked me if I was American. I was stunned when those words left her mouth. I'd never been asked that before. It seemed she was implying that she thought I was from Africa or the Carribean or something, like maybe I didn't fully understand English and that's why I was 'struggling' to follow her orders/requests. She said I didn't talk or act like an American, like bruh, I was born and raised in NYC, and I still live here lol. She made fun of the way I talk I think? Like she asked about some grapes, and when I said the word "grapes" she acted like she couldn't understand me. Thought I said "greeps" and I'm like, no... I said "grapes" (you think I don't know how to pronounce grapes? bitch) She went on to randomly mention that she thought Europeans were the best and started talking about all the places she's visited, and things she's done, and kept calling herself "very smart". "I'm very smart", she said this at least 5 times in the 8 hours I was there. Meanwhile she was having some trouble with her desktop PC and I was just thinking in my head "well if you're so smart why can't you fix your own computer?" She was complaining about possibly having to pay $130 for a Geek Squad tech to come out and inspect it lol.
She asked me to boil some chicken for her. I hate boiled chicken. I don't cook it, and I don't eat it when my parents make it. So I don't know how to make it. I know making it is simple, you just boil it in some water but my problem is I have a hard time telling when food is "done" and that chicken of hers when we finished cooking it (because I was taking long in the kitchen and she came to check), it didn't even look like it was cooked. I'm used to chicken looking brown when it's cooked, but the chicken was still white, (idk what boiled chicken is supposed to look like, my parents' boiled chicken has a light brown/sandy tan kind of coloring). I had stuck a fork in it to check if it went in easily and even broke off a piece to taste but it was still a bit rubbery, I wasn't sure how long I was supposed to cook it or what the texture was supposed to be when it was done, so I was just standing in the kitchen for a long time. But her chicken was still nearly white when we finished and I almost can't believe some people eat food like that. She also wanted yams, again something I don't eat. I put it in a pot with broccoli (which I know how to cook) to boil them together, but apparently you can't do that because the broccoli will cook faster than the yam. How am I supposed to know? I see people on tv and youtube boiling veggies together all the time, I thought yam and broccoli together would be fine but I guess not.
When she came in the kitchen to start helping me with the food, she was saying a bunch of stuff, and to some of it, I would respond, trying to explain myself and keep a conversation going like I was trained to do (to build a relationship with your client by speaking with them) then after a while she just told me to SHUT UP. She said she was tired of me talking, especially when I don't know anything. Broooooooooo, I was ready to BEAT THIS FUCKING WOMAN DOWN. She's 95 years old! Omg for real, if they didn't pay people to do this job, people like her would just die and rot away in their homes. How can you be so old and still so nasty to people who are just trying to help you? I think this shit is worse than working in retail. Your client is basically a fusion of your boss and a customer. Imagine dealing with a terrible boss and a nasty customer, now combine that into one person.
I was really offended when she told me to shut up. What's funny is I'm naturally a quiet person. I was the kid who sat in the back of the classroom and classmates would come up to me and ask "why are you so quiet?" so it always astounds me when people say I talk too much or whatever. It kinda sounded like she was thinking out loud and didn't really want a response to what she was saying, but I don't know that. If she doesn't want me to respond, then she shouldn't say anything in the first place. After she told me to shut up, I got offended and told her I don't have to shut up, that this is a free country and I can speak whenever I want to. And she said DON'T BE SMART with the most shocked angry face lol I almost thought she was gonna tell me to get out of her house, and I was hoping she would say that so that I could leave and wouldn't have to deal with her anymore. I don't even remember what she said to me after that, honestly I just kinda turned my brain off to everything she said after that. I was just praying for time to speed up to 5pm so I could finally leave. She kept saying 'jesus christ' everytime I did something in a way she didn't like, or when I couldn't find the thing she was asking me for (lady, this is the first time I've been to your house, I don't know where anything is! She told me to "JUST LOOK FOR IT THEN!" some of those things were on the bed she was lying on, that I couldn't even reach and she didn't realize the item was literally right next to her), she also asked me to get a "plastic container" from the kitchen, now, that could be anything. I got her a plastic bowl shaped thing and she asked me "does that look like a container??" I mean, a container is something that contains? Bowls contain stuff... it also came with a lid. What she wanted was a plastic cup next to the plastic bowls.
She also kept calling me a low skill worker the whole time, and for some reason wanted me to stand directly in front of her whenever I was speaking to her, or she was speaking to me, she got upset if I was too far away from her. I'm like who does she think she is, a drill sergeant? Ordering me where to stand and not stand. Of course, it's her house but still, I've never met a more rude person in my almost 30 years of life. I've never been so angry at a person ever in my life. I can't believe I have to work for her. All the other clients (non-white) I've had so far have been so kind, and I was glad I got to know them. I wish I never met this woman. I was really scared of working for a white lady and literally the worst scenario is what happened. The longer the day went on, the more I started to clam up. I didn't want to say anything or ask for help/instructions doing a task because I thought she would tell me to shut up or call me a low skill worker again. But then when I didn't say something and messed up a task, she says 'jesus christ' and calls me a low skill worker. I was damned if I did, damned if I didn't. Are all old people so rude? I've never met one older than 90 before and she was downright nasty. The main reason I messed things up is because she was making me anxious and I couldn't concentrate on what I was doing, or she told me a bunch of things she wanted done all at once, and I just can't remember all of that info, when I would ask her to repeat what she wanted, she would get angry and say I wasn't listening or called me incompetent. I slipped out to make a phone call to my agency and tell them I refuse to work for this woman. They told me she's just old (even if you're old, it's not an excuse to disrespect others and talk down to people) and since it's the weekend and too last minute, they would have a hard time replacing me for tomorrow because I'm already scheduled for tomorrow. So I have to go back there, no!!!!!!!!!! :'( But she says she's going to a play with a friend of hers and she wants me to just sit in the theater lobby until it's over, so at least I won't have to deal with her the full 8 hours? But omg, I knew this was not the field for me, and this experience really drove it home. I just can't interact with people because of shit like this. I'm currently in an IT bootcamp (I only work this job on the weekends), set to end in August and omg I can't wait to graduate. I need a different job. I can't survive in this field if it's going to be like this.
Moral of the story, if you don't know how to cook or do laundry don't become a home health aide lol. I suppose it's my own fault for not knowing those things for the job, but hey I've been able to survive this long without needing those skills in my personal life, I never really thought about having to do it for other people. Idk, am I incompetent? Or is it a touch of the 'tism?
