2024.05.14 12:01 drshikhaaggarwal Most Common Treatments for Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a skin condition characterised by the appearance of white patches. Dr. Shikha Aggarwal, a renowned dermatologist for vitiligo treatment in Ludhiana, says that vitiligo can affect any part of the body, and the majority of sufferers have multiple white spots on their skin. Millions of people around the world suffer from vitiligo. Anyone can be affected, regardless of age, gender, or race. Vitiligo can affect a person's mental and emotional health, even if it is not a contagious or life-threatening disorder. We will learn about the top treatments for vitiligo in this blog.
What makes one more vulnerable to Vitiligo?
The exact cause of vitiligo is unknown. Many vitiligo sufferers have no family history of the condition, and it does not appear to be inherited. However, having vitiligo or other autoimmune diseases in the family may increase one's susceptibility.
Vitiligo can be linked to a variety of autoimmune conditions, including:
Furthermore, some doctors claim that vitiligo appears in the following:
Common Treatments for Vitiligo
Several treatments are available that can be helpful.
  1. Phototherapy or Light Therapy: UVA light therapy, also known as phototherapy, can help slow or stop the progression of vitiligo. This is frequently combined with other medications prescribed by a doctor. This therapy is commonly administered several times per week in a doctor's office. However, portable medical equipment allows patients to receive care at home.
  2. Excimer Laser: If medication does not work or produce the desired results, laser vitiligo treatments can be used. Laser-based vitiligo treatments deliver the expected results: they are effective. This technique restores the color of the skin by depigmenting it with a laser. The excimer laser has a wavelength of 308 nm.
Important Note
There are no home remedies for vitiligo. Always consult a specialist skin doctor for treatment advice. A skilled dermatologist will only recommend the most appropriate treatment after evaluating the condition. If one is looking for the best skin specialist in Ludhiana, one can consult with Dr. Shikha Aggarwal. She has been helping many vitiligo patients lead a normal life with her top-notch treatments.

2024.05.14 11:56 amethodicalmadness Studiowest Cities gift box review!

Wanted to find my next signature fragrance and so set off my journey with this Studiowest Cities gift box. Available on Westside and TataCliq for 1999. Can get it for as low as 1850 or something because you can get 5% off for opting out of online returns on the Westside website.
WARNING: This is gonna be a LONG post.
Tl;Dr: Ratings:
Ibiza 1/5
Bali 3.5/5
Bora Bora 3/5
Cancun 5/5
Mykonos 3.5/5
Rio 3/5
Paris 2.5/5
New York 4/5
London 1/5
Packaging is quite lovely
The box has 10 glass bottles of 9ml perfumes. Very nice to hold. There are tearable covers over each of the bottle, kind of like a Christmas advent calendar. I loved this.
It's a great gift to give someone, even if they aren't into fragrance at all, simple because it feels like a premium gift.
I am by no means a reviewer or a person who knows much about fragrance in general. So I apologize in advance for my descriptions.
The fragrance notes are from the Westside website. There's nothing mentioned on the bottle or the box so i guess we will have to take their word for it.
One Night in Ibiza
1/5
Floral - Bergamot, Cardamom, Coconut blended with Tiare Flower, Tuberose, Ylang Ylang and base notes of Musk, Benzoin, Heliotrope.
Top: bergamot
Mid: Heliotrope
Base: Vanilla
Dupe for: ?
Review: You can really smell the coconut in this. It's a nice gourmand smell, but the spiciness of the cardamom makes this smell like a sabji made with amrutanjan balm.
It settles down to just the smell of the musk and the coconut. Pleasant but smells like it could be odomos.
Didn't like this.
One Night in Bali
3.5/5
Grapefruit Lemon, Mint and Pink Pepper mixed with middle notes of Ginger, Nutmeg, Jasmine and with base notes of Incense, Vetiver, Cedar, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Labdanum and White Musk.
Top: Grapefruit
Mid: Ginger
Base: Sandalwood
Dupe for: Bleu de Chanel
Review: the first burst is definitely very heavy on the alcohol and smells a lot like men's aftershave, you definitely get the citrus and the mint. As it dries down it turns into an inoffensive, soft, mainly musky smell.
Okayish. Might consider wearing it again. Good for day wear.
One Night in Bora Bora
3/5
Floral Ambery - Citrus, Pear, Melon blended with Rose, Freesia, Lily of the Valley and base notes of Amber, Musk, Patchouli.
Top: Pear
Mid: Lily of the valley
Base: Patchouli
Review: Too patchouli heavy for me this one. I can only smell the rose and the patchouli. Couldn't smell the citrus. I'm more into fresh scents so I hoped highly for this one. Settles down to a soft floral scent. Nothing mind blowing. Might consider wearing it in evenings.
Dupe for: CK Eternity
One Night in Cancun
5/5 <3
Floral Fruity - Peach, Plum, Honey blended with Lily of the Valley, Nectarine, Petitgrain and base notes of Musk, Vetiver, Amber
Top: Peach
Mid: Petitgrain
Base: Vetiver
Dupe for: Elizabeth Arden Red Door
Review: Now this one is definitely interesting to me. I am not a fan of fruity scents but this is a wonderful one. At first you can really smell the plum and the peach scents, and the sweet nectarine but it's not sickly sweet. Settles down into what I think vetiver is supposed to smell like (I don't know what vetiver smells like, but it's not musk for sure). It smells... delicious?
I think this one is my favourite. Might even consider getting a decant of EA Red Door because of this.
One Night in Mykonos
3.5/5
Citrus Floral - Aqueous, Lemon, Green blended with Rose, Jasmine, Pear Blossom and base notes of Amber, Balsamic, Musk.
Top: Lemon
Mid: Rose
Base: Amber
Dupe for: CK One
Review: Initial burst of citrus is really fresh, and not in a ambi pur car fragrance kind of way. Settles down well. The rose and Jasmine would feel very hair oil fragrance but it's not that offensive. Left with a musk scent at the base. I don't know where the balsamic is supposed to sit.
One Night in Rio
3/5
Floral Chypre - Citrus, Fresh blended with Peony, Rose, Jasmine and base notes of Patchouli, Musk, Amber.
Top: Citrus
Mid: Peony
Base: Patchouli
Dupe for: CK Eternity Eau Fresh
Review: Opens with a floral scent that I can't seem to catch which flower it's supposed to be. Didn't get the citrus top note. Too much patchouli for me. I guess I just don't like patchouli. It settles down into a sweet smell, again, of just patchouli, and peony I guess. But I've never smelled a peony so I can't tell. The smell of this I can only describe as the floor cleaners they use in airport bathrooms at Kempegowda or a mall washroom that was just cleaned.
Not a fan of this one.

At the forefront of this fragrant journey, the delightful blend of plum, raspberry, and pear dances on your senses, creating a luscious and playful olfactory experience. As the fragrance continues to unfold, the heart reveals musk, vanilla, and sugary notes, adding depth and complexity to this captivating aromatic symphony
Notes from TataCliq

Base Note
Sweet, Musky
Review: Vanilla opening, definitely fruity but I didn't get the plum I was expecting. Definitely a girly fragrance. The label is pink and it's definitely the vibe of this one. Very high school, winx club, Blossom from Powerpuff Girls. It's a nice one but I don't think it's for me.

At the top, vanilla takes the spotlight with its sweet allure. In the heart of this fragrance, jasmine and orchid add a delicate, floral dimension. Finally, the scent finds its soothing base in the notes of sweet and musky, leaving a lasting impression of sophistication and charm.
Notes from TataCliq
Top:
Plum, Raspberry, Pear
Middle Note
Lily Of The Valley, Jasmine, Rose
Base Note
Musk, Vanilla, Sugary
Dupe for: ?
Review: Opens quite fresh, fruity but not too sweet. Settles down into a musky, jasminey, vanilla smell which isn't sweet. I'm saying this over and over because I detest sickly sweet frags, they make me gag.
I liked this one.

Review: struggling to describe this one. Not sure if it was just my bottle or what but it smells like... nothing? I wanted to keep a constant or a standard for measuring the smell and the stay of these EDPs so 2 sprays per were enough.
I ended up spraying 4 to 5 sprays for this one, and yet it smelled like nothing. There's a hint of pine in there but that's it. Not sure what is supposed to deliver.
A fail.
OVERALL:
A good gift for someone who would like to get into fragrances. Not very long lasting, nor very outstanding scents tho. Maybe it's the Cities line of fragrances that aren't very good. I keep hearing Goddess as a good one, maybe I should've just got that to try instead.
I sprayed just a couple of times to keep it even but even so not good projection, sillage or staying power. It's gone within the hour but settles on the skin for maybe 2 hours.
Anyway.
I might revisit this post in the future to update how these have aged or if I've grown to love or hate any of these.

EXAMS MEGATHREAD 14/05 (A-level Business P1) (AS Chemistry, Geo, Sociology, CS) etc

Hey everyone! Best of luck with your exams on the 14th May!

(sorry for the delay, constant exhaustion go brrr)

I'm free of my lasers and can't fry any buildings any more (not irl), so here's another exams megathread!

Few things:
  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.

  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the subreddit to discuss that.

  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise.

  • We're taking a different approach this year due to negative feedback last year. We hope this approach will be better (also to note, we can only have 2 pinned posts).

  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed.

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

2024.05.14 11:36 NoiseSolitaire Optimizing for UPS--are efficiency modules actually the best for megabases?

I've got a moderately sized base producing 1K SPM, and I'd like to move it to 2K SPM and beyond. However, I'm a bit worried about the lag this would induce, as I'd really like to stay at 60 FPS. Looking at the entity time for my base, I can already see some problems.
If I'm interpreting this correctly, the 'total' at the top is the number of milliseconds it takes to do an update, and that needs to be less than 1000/60 (or ~16.7) to maintain 60 FPS, and it should probably have a bit of a safety margin to keep things smooth. At ~9ms, I'm already using 54% my budget with only 1K SPM, which is not a good sign. However, I can see ways to reduce several of the things here, namely the time spent on 'Inserter', 'AssemblingMachine', and even 'MiningDrill'. Those three account for nearly half of the update time, so optimizing them should really pay off.
But the elephant in the room remains, the cryptically named 'Unit', accounting for about as much time as my (currently very inefficient use of) inserters. According to the wiki, "This is biters and spitters. Removing biters and spitters will remove this cost." However, removing biters and spawners (and might as well remove pollution at that point) removes too many gameplay mechanics for my taste, so that's not on the table. Instead, I'd like to look for ways to reduce that without removing enemies and pollution entirely.
I also suspect the wiki is incomplete here, in that I assume having more turrets also increases this 'Unit' cost, if indirectly. I.e., the turrets themselves don't take up time, but each enemy has to check if it's within range of each turret, thus the turrets are indirectly adding time to the 'Unit' cost. I currently have ~11K laser turrets to defend my perimeter, so surely there must be some performance cost to those in there somewhere.
So I looked into optimizing defenses, and stumbled across this post, which has some very interesting information in it. The tl;dr is that if you can keep your pollution cloud within artillery range, you won't aggro biters, and thus the only encounters you'll have with them is when they attempt the "Enemy Expansion" to make a new nest. These groups are much smaller than the waves I currently have incessantly attacking my base, and then they should attack the artillery that destroyed them, so you only have to defend your artillery points and otherwise don't need defenses.
The catch here is that the only way I can see of controlling the pollution cloud is to use efficiency modules for their massive reduction to pollution, both in the machine itself, and the extreme reduction in power consumption resulting in less pollution from my nuclear plants. (Yes, I'm aware that most megabasers use and rave about solar being the most UPS efficient, but I suspect they have biters & pollution off, so that's not really applicable to my situation.) I also wouldn't need nearly as many laser turrets either, which I think would further reduce my update time.
The only obvious downside is the loss of productivity, meaning I need more assemblers at the bottom of the production chain, but with each and every assembler working faster (as they won't have the speed penalty from productivity modules), I'm not sure it will be as bad as it seems. So, does converting to efficiency modules ultimately make sense?
p.s. - I've also heard fluid simulation in pipes is brutal to UPS, but where is that shown here? Yes, there is 'Pump' and 'OffshorePump', but what about the pipes themselves?

2024.05.14 11:07 Far_Elk_5203 Hairfall Treatment by Dr. Bhavesh Gupta, Navi Mumbai, India

Hairfall Treatment by Dr. Bhavesh Gupta, Navi Mumbai, India
I was suffering from extreme hairful since last few months. Tried everything from minoxidil to all desi home remedies. But nothing seemed to work.
Finally, got to know about Dr. Bhavesh Gupta from his Youtube Channel, who is a Hair Transplant Expert and Surgeon and owns Clinique Internationale in Navi Mumbai, India.
I digged deeper into his socials. Looked up for testimonials on Youtube. Looked at the patients results on Instagram. Read reviews on Google. And finally I was convinced that I will get my hairfall treated from him.
Met him for consultation and he suggested undergoing 4 PRP sessions to stop hairfall.
The Best things about Clinique Internationale while undergoing treatment were as follows:
  1. Minimum Pain while getting PRP
  2. Highly professional Team
  3. Great attention to detail
  4. Extraordinary care for Hygiene
  5. Dr. Bhavesh is very gentle and answered all my queries patiently
Prior to the treatment I could find tens of hair strands on my hand while applying shampoo. Now, to my surprise, I find none.
My hairfall stopped almost 98 to 99 percent right after my first PRP Session. It may seem a bit of an exaggeration but this is the kind of exceptional result I got.
It was a great sense of joy and relief at the same time.
Any community member who wants to get his hair treated or transplanted in India can opt for Dr. Bhavesh Gupta.
I am also providing the link to his Youtube Channel, so that you decide for yourself.

Want to make Automatons more fun? Expand the suppression mechanic to actually threatening enemies
Suggested layout to give each weapon a unique function while still maintaining relevancy
tl;dr: Properly implementing the suppression mechanic against the bots will promote teamwork, help new players and make facing certain enemies far less frustrating.
Currently, only troopers/raiders are affected by suppressive fire. This is best seen when fighting the machine guns mounted on bot bunkers and trenches. Meanwhile, the real casualty-causing bots, the devastators and hulks, are completely immune to it (despite the loading screen tip suggesting otherwise).
Infallible advice from the Helldiver's training manual
Firstly, enabling proper suppressive fire would create awesome opportunities for teamwork. Trusting your team to actually cover you while you fire off an AT weapon, throw a stratagem, sprint out of cover or complete an objective would be an awesome experience and create really strong interactions and counterplay with the main playstyles of the bots.
Secondly, it would give a role to otherwise neglected stratagems. The HMG, in addition to its ease of use issues, was not enthusiastically embraced by the community due to the stiff competition it shares with the laser cannon, autocannon and AMR. This would give it a good niche as a weapon for team players. Additionally, while the MG-43 and stalwart are the first stratagems introduced to new players, they fall off quickly due to a lack of perceived effect and diminished niche at higher difficulties.
Lastly, it would help reduce the frustration players experience when facing automatons at all levels. As I said, many new players will be using the MG-43 and stalwart in their first few games, where they are just learning the weak points. Temporarily crippling the enemy's aim when under fire would provide these players with better opportunities to experiment with the armour penetration and weak point system. Meanwhile at higher levels, having an option to be aggressive vs large groups of devastators would help mitigate the frustration of fighting enemies that abuse the stagger and ragdoll mechanics.
This mechanic could be extended to other weapons (such as the laser cannon functioning like an HMG and all primaries being able to suppress rocket devastators at a lower efficiency) and even stratagems (orbital gatling barrage for hulks, 380mm/walking barrage for striders/tanks) but I think it is best to start simple.

2024.05.14 08:45 vaibhav_k_garg Ayaneo Support Appreciation Post + Ayaneo 2 post 1 year review

Purchase: I contributed ~1000$ for the White 16gb/512gb model on 6th Jan, 2023, received it on 24th Apr, 2024 via FedEx in India. Amazingly, given their experience I suppose, they used an India specific import code that made the duty near zero! I can't tell you how glad I was to save some money as these devices are pretty expensive & a bit of a gamble.
First Impression: OH MY GOD! The White body, the bezel less gorgeous screen! My first even handheld! 😍🥰💝💘🎮
Support: (too many in 1 year!)
#1 - 1 month in: The first support issue was actually Aya being proactive and sending out the Heat Dissipation Upgrade Kit to everyone as the original design had a flaw. Got it on 27th Apr 23.
#2 - 6 months in: The back shell developed a spontaneous crack at the top. After seeing all the bad reviews about support I was very sad BUT once I email aya support email, a ticket got created. I was patient and I had provided concise info + photos + translation and it all went smoothly. Emailed 24th Nov 23, they sent out a replacement on 16 Dec 23.
#3 - 10 months in: I started hearing noise from the fan. Again, I was a bit apprehensive but created a ticket on 22 Feb 24 with concise info, photo and videos and viola, pretty soon had a replacement sent out on 1st March 24! The package mysteriously for returned before it left the seller for some reason and I notified support and the send out a another one on 5th march 24. Sadly they did not send the O Ring that goes between the fan and the back shell to channel air more efficiently.
#4 - 10 months in: The battery started dying down. The battery would be above 60% suddenly system would restart, showing 3% after booting. This time I confidently created a ticket on 28 Feb 24, was told they had to wait for restock and they sent it out on 27 March 24.
Ayaneo and AN2 Long Term Review:
#1: Ayaneo: These manufacturers are not for newbies. You need to know the depths of Windows OS, emu settings, TDPs etc. You will probably also need to know how to service the device. You need to be extremely patient as every communication is painfully slow given the time & culture difference + small overworked teams.
#2 Build quality: Not great. There are heat issues, fitting tolerances are obviously not at par. Very very delicate. Software was very poor but has come a long way. Anyone who owns these devices will need to replace the battery + fan every year.
#3 Competitor: Enter the Steam deck. I got gifted the OLED version by my Boss (yes lol). And I almost stopped using the AN2 as the deck is decidedly better at everything. I posted about it here (AN2 won switch emulation back for me)! Now that there are Allys and Legions and Claws in the world, it is that much harder to recommend buying from Aya and similar sellers unless you get passionate about some upcoming device like Ayaneo Flip. They also promised a 7840U upgrade kit a while back but alas that never happened and I really don't like that at all as it would have given this amazing device more power to fight the competition and shown Aya products have 2nd lives!
#4 Post 1 year: The 6800U is still good for low power gaming. The bezel less 1080p 60fps ultra vivid screen is so great. The grip shape is called "baby sleeping position" and while that is the ultimate cross culture unintentional humour, I have grown to agree. I never push the device past 22w as I know that is just asking for failure in the long run and given that I get amazing switch emu experience between 11w-18w. I have replaced the Fan, the Battery and upgraded the Thermal Paste to PTM 7950, I am pretty sure it can last for another year.🤞
TL;DR: Great device, still going strong after a year even after I have a Steamdeck OLED. Had a bunch of problems under warranty and got stellar support albite the snail's pace. Build quality is lower then big manufacturers but as long as you are a tinkerer, patient and have good luck then Ayaneo is great.

2024.05.14 07:38 Automatic_Result9426 Nextellis to treat breakthrough bleeding

I am supposed to be starting Nextellis and I am so nervous. Some backstory- I’m 20 and have been on birth control since I was 16. When I started out it was for pain and bleeding management but I am now obv taking it as contraception. I have been on the generic of Sprintec (Estarylla) for about a year and a half now continuously. I let myself have a period every 3 months but I am not having one every cycle as my cramps tend to be unbearable.
I had a period in March and after it ended I noticed what I thought was breakthrough bleeding, but would only notice it after intercourse, so naturally I assumed something was tearing and thought nothing of it. After keeping track, I realized it was happening whenever I was aroused and went to my gyno. (don’t worry, was swabbed for sti’s and came back clean)
After an exam she said it is most likely my birth control causing the tissue in my cervix to be more sensitive and feather off, but it isn’t a constant flow so it would make sense that It was only visible to me when, well.. you know… wet lol. Long story short, she recommended I start taking Nextellis and gave me a 3 month sample. Usually I am open to trying new methods when they are recommended by a Dr. but after reading reviews I am TERRIFIED. Has literally anyone had a positive experience with Nextellis? I have read over and over it causes endless periods/breakthrough bleeding, which obv makes me nervous since that’s what I’m trying to treat. Also, if you have had similar symptoms and found a way to treat/end them please share!! I am desperate.

Cass Review author says leading medical org only supports trans health care under “political duress”
“In an interview with Azeen Ghorayshi of the New York Times published earlier today, Dr. Hilary Cass – lead author on the highly controversial Cass Review examining gender-affirming care for trans youth – took a ‘both sides’ approach as to whether social acceptance or the widely discredited theory of ‘social contagion’ causes people to come out as trans.”
“Published last month, the Cass Review is a lengthy report that commissioned multiple systematic reviews of the quality of evidence surrounding pediatric gender-affirming care from England’s University of York. Cass spearheaded the review, which has been used to support bans on puberty blockers in England and has been widely criticized for being politically biased and inaccurate.”
“This interview is not the first time Cass has made misleading or problematic claims. In one released earlier this month with NPR, she claimed that transitioning success could be measured by factors like employment, making no mention of how anti-trans discrimination may bias the results.”

2024.05.14 07:10 Known-Fuel7092 Suicide rate 4 times normal in people who've had lasik.

https://europe.ophthalmologytimes.com/view/lasik-linked-depression
"A few studies have already been conducted looking at whether changes in vision can affect the mind. Researchers at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, US reviewed suicides among organ donors who had had laser eye surgery. Preliminary results suggest that the suicide rate is as much as four times higher among cornea donors who had had LASIK than those who had not. However, the data for this study was incomplete so the numbers may not be an accurate reflection."
I always wonder why this study was cancelled since the preliminary data showed the incidence of suicide post lasik was 4x the normal suicide rate. I wonder if the surgeons set out to prove there was no connection and the results showed the opposite and that made them discontinue the study.

2024.05.14 07:02 QuestionForYou- Moved from IC to Mgmt: Showing me the way to the exit?

TL;DR: Am I being moved from IC to managing more & more people, at stagnant comp, with increasing workloads and fewer resources, as a way of getting me to leave?
I chose to go IC after 20+ years managing a stream of people thru leadership dev programs. Been IC for 15 years.
After an exec departure last year, I was moved to new dept & boss, same stakeholders, double workload, and told to take a couple people on. Second person & budget were never approved, transition was less than 2 weeks for work once supported by 6 PT people to just 2 FT (one being me).
This year, got more people and new dept plus current one. Still no comp/title change (I suspect top of range/band), and new stakeholders are very contentious. I spend twice as much time setting expectations than it would take to get sh*t done, and coaching my team in navigating —they get it fast, but takes time to cover. Slapping on a smile and rolling with it because market sucks for many like me at this age & stage.
Just got wind my team is going to expand again in people & scope two months after the LAST expansion. Since no-raise/title info came down in the last month, I don’t expect that to change. Original stakeholders who had me as IC are not happy sharing. I’m not expecting any glowing reviews based on 360s, they want undivided attention back. I didn’t expect longtime original stakeholders to be downright a-holes about so many things. Planning, budgets, expectations, scoping — everything, they have outright stated, is not enough if it’s not like it was.
Getting burned out fast on 80+ hr weeks. There’s a reason I didn’t and don’t want to manage people or admin, and why IC was intentional on my part.
Last but not least — I came on board with an acquisition a few years ago. Base didn’t change but raises were slower and lower, RSUs disappeared, pension top-off and bonus all but stopped. I wouldn’t mind the 30% overall comp reduction before inflation if it was still IC. And, BTW, large established company is not in a pinch.
Thought dawned on me tonight, perhaps this is some kind of constructed discharge, or forced quit? Keep piling on until burnout is complete and get a higher-band person out? Or until budget & people aren’t adequate to deal with demand and have a scapegoat?
I’m doubly-angry this week because a major life event planned for a year is now also getting cut short, and fire drills for the last month completing the latest transition has left little time to prepare the way I’d like to. Exhausted.
So:
Not a big fan of confrontations any more. I had a decent hard-a$$ front when needed and good at raising hell—tho rarely needed — when I managed larger teams eons ago. I just hate doing it any more. Yet another reason I chose IC.
So — is this a nudge or a butt-kick out the door? Suggestions?

2024.05.14 06:51 LozWritesAbout My Favourite and Least Favourite Episodes (top 10 list)

I decided to sit down and work out what I consider my top 10 favourite and least favourite episodes of Frasier were before a new rewatch. It's been a few months since I've watched the series, and I compiled the list on title (and memory) alone.
I'll be reviewing my list as I rewatch the series, and I think it might be interesting to see if these rankings change at all.
Top 10 - Favourite Episodes (in no particular order)
Bottom 10 - Least Favourite Episodes (in no particular order)
Do you agree? What are your favourite/least favourite episodes?

CoA’s mystery woman: The forgotten legacy of the first female community college president in California
“Every semester, incoming Journalism students are instructed to find articles from archives, the internet, or anywhere else they can think of to search for news about the wider Peralta Community College District (PCCD). The goal of this exercise is to assess the ability of each student to gather information about a specific subject. The challenge of the exercise is to find an article that the instructor has not encountered before. I set out to find as obscure an article as I possibly could about PCCD. I decided to rely on google newspapers in order to track down something that had been digitized from print, rather than relying on online articles. I came across a small column in a 1975 issue of The Spokesman Review, reading, “Woman Chief Due at College”. The article is only three sentences long. It states that Dr. Jeanette Poore, President of Everett Community College at the time, would be the first female community college President in California.”

2024.05.14 06:08 ehssohbee Prinsu Rack for 2022

I'm toying with the idea of getting a Prinsu rack, but can't seem to find a solid answer to a question I have. I'm hoping someone in this community can help me answer it: What is the REAL WORLD load rating for a Prinsu rack when installed?
All I can find is the rating of 600 lbs dynamic and 1000 lbs static. Nothing seems to indicate if this is just the rack (the aluminum structure, itself, independent of the vehicle), or for the capacity the roof can now handle using the Prinsu to distribute weight. My gut tells me it's JUST for the Prinsu's extruded aluminum structure.
TL;DR: If I load 600 lbs of gear on a Prinsu rack on the roof of my Colorado, will my roof cave in or not?

2024.05.14 05:44 courtingdisaster Presenting the evidence: 17 May 2024

Presenting the evidence: 17 May 2024
Come one, come all, we're clooowning again! 🤡
Thanks to u/1DMod for posting the Jimmy Fallon video that led to me to start to connect the dots that other creators have noticed. Long story short, we're clowning for Stockholm N1 (maybe even night ✌️ as well), buckle up clowns!

✌️

First things first, May 17 is ✌️ fortnights after the release of TTPD on April 19. We know that Taylor is still throwing up peace signs which seems unnecessary if it only ever meant that there was a second part of TTPD. I think it's an indication that we haven't completely cracked that egg yet.
This photo was necessary for the post, ok

National/International Day Of

While these days aren't necessarily solid proof of anything, Taylor did release TTPD on Poetry & The Creative Mind Day and also released the ME! music video (ME! Out now!) on Lesbian Visibility Day so I think it's definitely worth investigating.
After publishing this post I was reading through the comments in this thread about easter eggs and was reminded by u/-periwinkle that some people predicted the Toe breakup date based on something Taylor mentioned in her NYU speech ("Part of growing up and moving into new chapters of your life is about catch and release"). 11 months later, the Toe breakup news came out on, you guessed it, National Catch and Release Day. More on the NYU speech later.
First, let's have a look at the holidays for May 17 that could be relevant:
  • Endangered Species Day - Does anyone remember the ✌️ trips to the zoo while in Sydney...? We also have the big cat imagery on her new 1989 outfit to consider. If you haven't read this incredible post by u/Funny-Barnacle1291, I'd urge you to stop clowning with me (just for a moment) and go and read it. Taylor's TikTok bio still reads, "this is pretty much just a cat account" which could be a surface level meaning of her posting videos of her cats, but we know miss Feline Enthusiast herself loves a layered meaning. She also compared herself to feeling, "a lot like being a tiger in a wildlife enclosure" in the Lover diaries she released (pictured below).
TNT at Sydney Zoo Paris N4 TikTok bio Lover diaries comparing herself to a tiger Sydney Zoo
  • National Pizza Party Day - I know I am personally still haunted by her Stephen Colbert interview on 13 April 2021. The interview starts with Colbert talking about Taylor's Versions and also talking about how he believes the song "Hey Stephen" is about him. What surprise song did we get on guitar Paris N3..? Important to note that this interview also talks about him "waiting tables on the lunch shift at Scoozi, an Italian restaurant in the River North area of Chicago, that, by the way, serves a really incredible slice of pizza." Taylor also goes on to say that the song is actually about Stephen King and Taylor then says "The Dark Tower series changed my life, plus The Shining, The Stand and don't even get me started on his short stories... Absolutely luminescent." This interview is obviously very strange and likely filled with easter eggs. We know that her mention of the River North area of Chicago was also the location of one of the TTPD murals that went up ahead of release.
  • I've just seen this tweet which has beautifully tied in the new Red shirt that was premiered Paris N1 ("This is not Taylor's Version") with a quote from the Stephen Colbert interview, "This isn't about you, it's about pizza... See?" We can clearly see the mood board is about Stephen however she keeps only talking about the pizza. It feels like a Cassandra moment where we (Gaylors) are recoginising all the Stephen pictures and the general public (Swifties) are only focused on the pizza because that's what Taylor is showing them (the public narrative featuring Travis Kelce). There was also this excellent post connecting the new Red shirt to a painting by René Magritte's titled, "The Treachery of Images". We then get "Treacherous" as a surprise song on Paris N4.
  • u/naked_blanket pointed out that there is a scen in the Lavender Haze music video "where a bunch of people are gathered around a pizza box."
  • I can't remember where I saw it now but I was reminded of the below photo of Taylor and Keleigh Teller. Keleigh posted this to her Instagram on 30 May 2023 along with 8 emojis. The importance of the 8s will be explained further down the post under the Stockholm heading.
No... This is pizza

ME! Out soon 😉
  • National Graduation Tassel Day - Taylor was awarded with an honorary doctorate at NYU in 2022. We know that her speech at this event was filled with “Midnights” easter eggs including lyrics to “Labyrinth” and “You're On Your Own, Kid”. I wonder what other easter eggs are hidden in this speech...? Here's a link to the video and you can also read the full transcript here. I'm not going to do any further digging into this one right now, just presenting it as evidence but please feel free to note anything of importance in the comments.
Dr Taylor Alison Swift
These chemicals hit me like whiiiiite wiiiiine

Direct 17/5 easter eggs

  • Tokyo N3 - One of the surprise songs during Tokyo N3 was "The Outside". This excellent video by Kristen (underthepink7 - go follow her, she's amazing) goes into some additional easter eggs that I'm not going to go into here but definitely worth a watch (which also connects to "Down Bad"). What I do want to talk about though is what Taylor said when she introduced the song. Here's a video of the performance including her speech beforehand where she says, "this song is 175 years old." At the time most people thought that it was an egg for number of days leading us to 2 August 2024. It could still be referring to this however I'm starting to believe it's related to the date.
  • Date format - Before we go any further, it's important to note that the date format in Europe (where the Eras Tour currently is) goes DD/MM/YY. This is why I think the 175 could be a date as that equates to May 17 in Europe.
  • Tokyo N4 - On 10 February 2024, the surprise songs in Tokyo were "Come In With The Rain" (track 17) and "You're On Your Own, Kid" (track 5), another 175 and in this case it's specifically 17/5.
  • Anti Hero music video - There's been some really interesting analysis that I've seen on Twitter where the timestamps in Taylor's recent music videos appear to be lining up with the date of things happening in real life. Underthepink7 and Kiturakk on Twitter have pointed out some interesting connections to the numbers 175 in the Anti Hero, Bejeweled and Willow music videos. I'll admit this could be considered a bit of a stretch but what if I told you none of it was accidental...
Is Taylor using timestamps in her self-directed music videos to refer to dates in real life?

Important days in history

These could be nothing, could be something, still worth noting.
Important events in history that may be important to Taylor

Important events in Taylor's history on this day

  • "Bad Blood" music video premiered at the Billboard Awards
  • Entertainment Weekly where Taylor is on the cover with a rainbow pin and gravestone that says "I tried" is published
  • City of Lover concert (i.e. Taylor's Lover concert performed in Paris) airs on ABC for the first time
I think we're about to recreate her sparkling summer

Stockholm

  • 88th show - Taylor made a point to let everyone know that Paris N4 was the 87th show of the tour. Yes, 87 is Travis' number, but what if it was also to let everyone know that Stockholm will feature both her 88th and 89th shows? Obviously 89 is an important number to her however last year we saw Taylor embracing double dates (5/5 Speak Now TV announcement, 7/7 Speak Now TV release - there's probably others, that's all I remember off the top of my head) so I don't think it's a stretch to say that the 88th show would hold significance to her. I saw this thread on Twitter yesterday regarding "portal dates" and while obviously this is referring to dates, I can see "portal shows" being potentially noteworthy. Following on from this, Kristen has highlighted some Taylor Nation tweets that include the words "17" or "May" with one of those tweets being posted on 8/8 (while quoting "Betty" of all songs...) which Kristen notes is the karmic number representing resurrection and regeneration (tweets pictured below).
  • I was reading through the comments in the Jimmy Fallon video thread and u/cookiechipchocolate reminded me that one of Kanye's albums is titled "808s & Heartbreak". Could be a sly reference to her 88th show however I'll admit this is a bit more of a stretch connection that I've made.
  • In the same thread, I saw this comment from u/taytopancakes noting that the day after is "said to be the most magical/lucky day of the year" which just so happens to also be Taylor's 89th show of the Eras Tour. I'd say the stars are certainly starting to align!
  • Following on from the Keleigh Teller pizza photo on 30 May 2023 that has 8 emojis that I shared above, the other big thing Keleigh contributed to the TSCU in 2023 is her quote of, "you're my Elizabeth Taylor" in the video she shared where she gave Taylor that opal and blue topaz ring. This quote always stuck out to me. I know that Elizabeth Taylor had many husbands so I just looked it up and, you guessed it, she had 8 husbands (7 different men). It's also interesting to note that the first thing that comes up when you google "opal signficance" is "the opal has long been considered a lucky and protective talisman" which connects back to the TTPD announcement post that Taylor tweeted on 5 February 2024.
  • u/slugs_instead and u/chickadee323 also pointed out that we have been seeing a lot of infinity symbols lately; we've seen the infinity symbols everywhere from The Man wall, jewelry, Karma music video and most recently in the stage visuals for "Down Bad". An infinity symbol turned on its side looks like an 8. I believe the infinity symbol represents Taylor's cycle of death and rebirth, "I rise up from the dead, I do it all the time". What better way to signify the two parts of Taylor than two infinity symbols side-by-side, i.e. 88. Important thing I want to note - I just went and watched the footage of the "Down Bad" infinity symbol that I linked above and it stops just before completing - she's still on the journey.

  • Beyoncé - The Renaissance World Tour kicked off on 10 May 2023 in Stockholm at the very same stadium that Taylor is performing in next weekend. To me it would make sense to start a tour named Renaissance in Italy, where the Renaissance originated not in Sweden... We've seen Taylor and Beyoncé supporting each other a lot in the last year and Beyoncé's producer recently said, "let's just say she's on the approach of shocking the world." We know she's on her own three-act journey at the moment (complete with queer-flagging in her shows and her own Biyoncé rumours) so I don't think this quote is directly related to Cowboy Carter but potentially regarding the culmination of her arc. Is it possible that her arc lines up with Taylor's creating a supernova that will change the industry forever?
Taylor & Bey supporting each other at their respective film premieres, a literal pride flag on the Renaissance Tour (it's actually just Chiefs colours, phew!)
  • Taylor recorded songs in Stockholm - Kristen notes that many of Taylor's important singles were recorded in Stockholm including "I Knew You Were Trouble", "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", "Bad Blood", "Ready For It" and "New Romantics". Perhaps this city holds a special place in her heart?
  • One Direction - paging u/1DMod to go into more detail here however noting that One Direction has a song called "Stockholm Syndrome" and the lyrics are very interesting indeed ("I used the light to guide me home"). Checkout this recent post by u/1DMod regarding the possible Larry connections to TTPD.
  • Friends Arena - The stadium in Stockholm is called the Friends Arena. Taylor had a Friends pin on her jacket on the Entertainment Weekly cover. Was this stadium always supposed to play an important role? Kristen also notes that the opening ceremony took place on 27 October 2012 (obviously 27 October is the day that 1989 was released, both times) and Elton John played there on 13 December 2010 who had his own journey down the yellow brick road.

New Romantics

Kristen, who I have referenced in nearly every part in this post (again, she's amazing, go follow her), has a mass coming-out theory that she has dubbed the New Romantics. I highly recommend checking out her content on Twitter and TikTok and she's also recently launched a podcast that you can read more about here for a lottttttt more information on this theory. Essentially the theory is that a large number of artists in the entertainment industry are queer and are working together as a "safety in numbers" type approach to coming out of the closet and potentially changing the industry in a monumental way.
Let's have a look at some players that are relevant to either May 17 or Stockholm (or both in one person's case!):
  • Zayn - This is the person who is relevant to both May 17 and Stockholm! Obviously he was part of One Direction who I spoke about above as having a song titled "Stockholm Syndrome". Did you know his new album "The Closet" "The Room Under The Stairs" is being released this Friday, May 17? Again, I'll leave this to u/1DMod any additional relevant information as this is not my area of expertise but from what I understand, all members have their own queer rumours.
  • Billie Eilish - Recently out as a girl kisser, Billie Eilish is also releasing an album on this day titled "Hit Me Hard and Soft" featuring a song called "Lunch" that would leave even the most homophobic Swiftie unable to defend her queerness if released by Taylor.
  • Madison Beer - Madison is out as bi. Her tour, The Spinnin Tour, began 24 February 2024 in Stockholm (a different venue though).

Theories as to what exactly is coming

  • TTPD: Part 3 - I recently made a post presenting the evidence on a potential third part to TTPD. In this post the majority of the evidence was just related to the "3s" that have been prevalent lately however there were also some "5s" which led us to believe something was happening 5/3. I've since had a couple of thoughts that maybe the "3/5" is related to her 35th birthday this year. I strongly believe she'll be out by her birthday at the latest if not ON her birthday, but I digress.
  • Karma - After the fiery (Chiefs) colours we saw displayed in Paris, I'm not sure how you could be a Karma-denier at this point to be honest! If you haven't already, check out this amazing post from yesterday by (Dr Bryanlicious2 homewrecker) u/clydelogan. Their post discuses the numerology surrounding the number 8 that I referred to earlier however could this all be pointing us to the 88th show instead of a particular date...? Also if you are unaware of what we mean when we're talking about Karma, I recommend reading this collaborative post that is constantly being added to.
Karma is REAL
  • Coming Out - I personally don't believe she would come out during a show in Stockholm, however it's worth at least noting as a possibility. It would mean that she was "out" before Pride Month 😉 She did just sing "Begin Again" as a surprise song in Paris N4 - is she beginning again as her authentic self at the very next show?
  • Music Video - I know we thought we were getting a second music video for TTPD a fortnight after the album was released, however maybe that's what all this easter egging is for. I personally think it's something much bigger than that however will be very excited to dissect another music video! u/allie_lacey noted in this comment that Florence has recently said that she has "just got done filming with Taylor". A Florida!!! music video is something that a lot of us have been clowning for recently but I'd love to point to this comment by u/-periwinkle in particular as I think they've made a really good point about the mirrorball jellyfish which makes me think we will get a music video for this song at some point.
  • Book - The creator of the video that u/1DMod initially posted believes that Taylor is announcing a book on 17 May 2024 with it to be released on 21 October 2024. I'm not going to go into this theory in detail however if you are interested in finding out more about what they have to say, here are a couple of videos of theirs (video 1, video 2, video 3).
Is this another easter egg that she laid 3 years ago?

In Summation

Something is happening in Stockholm. I don't know what exactly but it is THE ONE to watch. I think it would be interesting to revisit the NYU speech, Karma music video, Stephen King and the Lover era in general for hints as to what's coming.
Regardless, I'll be there talking smack in the megathread on Friday and keeping an eye out for any new Chiefs colours. See you there, clowns!
Who's clowning with me?! 🤡🤡🤡
Edit: I'll be making some additions to this post as people have been making incredible connections already, thank you! These will be noted as a new bulletpoint to try and keep it transparent as to what has been added. As I'm researching I'm also making new connections of my own that I will also add as separate bulletpoints.

2024.05.14 05:22 hopingtohelp123 DMV revision rhinoplasty help

I got a pretty horrible rhinoplasty from Dr. Somenek and am seeking revision rhinoplasty. It seems like every doctor has bad reviews on here, but hoping to find one that I can trust. I am in the DMV area, but would travel up (not too far) if need be - open to suggestions! So far, I've heard of Dr. Cohen in VA and Dr. Jennifer Porter.
