My Harmon Kardon Citation Multibeam 1100 sometimes sounds... strange 🤨.
It’s connected through a LG CX with HDMI eArc.
The problem When I watch a TV channel that outputs Dolby Surround (shown in the display of the soundbar) - voices (aka center channel) sounds like the treble is turned up - and they lack bass completely. It’s a tiny, sort of distorted sound. Other channels sound great (when PCM is shown in the display).
I also watch movies from Apple TV - and the problem is the same for Dolby Atmos movies: Tiny voices - no bass what-so-ever.
However, all other sounds in the movie sound great, with full depth and immersive surround.
Is this a problem with the soundbar or is it just the way it is (hope not).

I know there have been many similar topics but they are all outdated. I would like to ask Asus owners how are they doing with their monitor after firmware updates? Has the problem of being forced to clean pixels every 4 hours even if you use the monitor gone away and no new ones?
I'm also considering QD-OLED monitors and many people praise them for their glossy finish, but I'm not sure I can provide a dark enough room, I always use lights, plus I need a monitor for both work and play, and I've seen complaints that QD-OLED has overly bright colors that make some people's eyes/head hurt and a bunch of myths that this panel will last less than WOLED and I'm going to use this monitor for many hours every day. Anyone who has had experience with these two monitors please share, thanks.
P.S There is also the option to buy a Spectrum with Gorilla Glass but I would have to overpay... hardly a good option. The Corsair is widely criticized and I'm not sure it's worth considering, but if you've had experience with it, please write about it.

Im seeing a lot of people posting that Chronos is too op. People suggesting methods of nerfing him or adjusting. But as someone who is beating him over and over fairly easily on high fear i have this to say, learn his moves in god mode. His moves are punishing, dealing large amounts of damage in a single hit as a titan should. To really master him you need to learn him enough to do large sections hitless, learning where his blind spots are and the tells for his moves. If you keep failing at that he doesn't need to be weaker, you just need to learn.
Its situations like this that god mode was made for. A flat damage reduction is not cheating. The mode is there for a reason. It will give you the leeway to lean his moves to the point you don't need it and can then beat him without it. Mel and Zag after all are gods, there is no reason they cant use that birth right.

For my first few runs of underworld and Olympus i used god mode. Turning it off when i stopped loosing or struggling. It's a great tool for learning movesets and mechanics and if you are ignoring it out of pride i implore you to give it a try. The point of games after all is to have fun and if you are having such a bad time you are begging the devs to make the game easier in reddit, make it easier yourself first with the tools they already gave you.
That to the side, strategies i use to get easy wins. These fall under two categories, add management and burst damage.
Add Management
You need a quick mana efficient way to kill the satyrs, hourglasses and other adds he brings to the fight. This is also the reason i always choose the hades boon that kills half of them for you. (though the darkness boon he offers is also amazing, 10 seconds of invulnerability after hitting one of Chronos's orbs is really OP)
The only henchman you need to divert your attention to are the banners, use your main attack to kill them as soon as you see them in phase one, or they will create barriers over the adds that makes them tougher to ignore, but there is a large gap between the banners appearing and them casting their first barrier.
For all other mobs i like to ignore them and focus on Chronos, while i passively kill them.
To do this you want your passive damage to do around 300 hp of damage. This is your aoe cast or your dash.
There are multiple casts that can do it but i recommend Hestia and Demeter.

As their basic cast deals the damage over time not their omega cast. Combined with Zeus or Hestia's casting boon, which either fires a fireball or lightning bolt and lets you target your cast. Aiming at the adds without needing to move near them.

For this you get a burst (fireball or bolt) of damage and sustained dps by just tapping cast allowing you to focus your attention on chronos. Both dont waste your time charging your attack which is deadly in this encounter as the titan of time is immune to the omega attack charge time slowing.
The second method of dealing with adds passively is a high dps dash attack. The best for this is posidon. Getting his dash to heroic makes it deal 200 plus damage and has knockback cc. Allowing you to dodge chronos and move in to attack him while killing his adds in the process without thinking about it.

Heroic Breaker Sprint does 200+ damage with no poms, but this one i got as a trade for another sprint has enough damage to kill all the adds in two hits for just 10 mana This sprint was doing 360 damage per hit.
Chronos himself, burst damage and placement
Every weapon has a way to deal reliable burst damage, to beat Chronos you want one of your attacks, special or main, to be able to deal a combo of around 1k damage in a few second, the gap you have to punish him when he uses his boomerang or scythe slice attack - but if you are struggling the highest single attack damage belong to the Argent Skull and the Moonstone Axe. Both can very easily get over 300 damage per attack,
The best axe strategy i learnt from a chaos trial in the pitch black stone. The hammer ability Hell Chop which turns your basic attack into a 300+ damage chop is amazing vs bosses with the Mel aspect Axe, as it allows you to dive, do a large burst attack and then dash right out, hopefully dealing some damage in the same time. The basic strategy is to have a good damage skill, like Nova Attack on the axe, lay your cast on top of Chronos for the bonus damage and attack with the axe, using this method ive gotten the axe to 1300 damage per attack with a very wide AOE range. allowing you to take your chance, attack once for a big burst and then bug out of his range.
If you arent lucky enough to get this specific hammer, the axe is a slow but reliable way to deal 5% of Chronos's health in a single attack. Just hit him with its full combo while he uses the two punishable moves, use Mels aspect as it allows the axe to attack fast enough. The spin omega attack is great for dps and picking off adds and is how i got my first win.
The Skull is good in that it deals its damage from a range, doing 80-100 damage with a decent attack boon you can blast chronos with 300 damage per reload, much more if he is in your cast or you have extra damage boons like Hestia, Zeus or Hephestus, then move into one of his safe zones. There are two must have hammers that boost this to the next level. The one which adds two skulls, giving you 500 base damage per wave, and the one which creates the omega attack effect when you collect the skull creating a combo where you hit him for 300, dash into him, then blast him for 300 damage per skull, so another 900 burst, this is a simple 1300 damage combo that keeps you at range and mobile most of the time and will burn the titans health in no time.

Any weapon can have reliable burst added by using Hephaestus's explosion boon, which is a long cool down 300-400 burst, around 5% of his HP, that can be boosted with furnace blast to double the damage- if you are lucky with Poms you can get the cooldown of volcanic strike as low as 2 seconds, which makes this very reliable.

Through the Poseidon and Hestia duo boon which creates high damage DPS on slipped and burned enemies (Which you may have from the two quick attack methods above)
As well as through Zeus blitz effect, on fast weapons like the sister blades, for example Blitz on the special could be triggered by Hephaestus's attack causing the combo to trigger for 100 damage blitz+200-300 volcanic strike and 300 furnace strike, creating a 600 damage combo by pressing 2 buttons using 3 common boons. The Zeus/Aphrodite duo boon also allows you to instant trigger blitz turning these into very reliable burst damage boons.
There are too many of these combos to mention and part of the fun will be finding ones that work for you
Placement
For phase one Chronos is pretty simple to avoid.
His scythe whirlwind attack is slower than your dash, if you are using the dash method to passively kills adds this is a good time to run into them and kill them. Dropping your cast on the big guy as you are behind him
Boomerang scythe move is easy to avoid, its blind spot is right in front of Chronos allowing you to hit with your slowest highest dps moves easily.
His wide swing and dash attack both leave a black scar in the ground, these are the only places that are hit by the attack, you can continue attacking him close up through the swing, as the blind spot is again right in front of him, for the dash, he curls his back and shakes, your signal to dodge to the side
Golden Balls/ Bullet hell attacks, at some point Chronos will start teleporting, and generating a round shield of balls, as well as leaving a time stop barrier where he was, this is clearly signposted by a gold magic circle at his feet so easy to dodge the time freeze and these balls are low DPS for him (dealing just 13 damage for me), and can be soaked if you want, but the best way to deal with them is stand near a wall, when he next teleports the balls will hit the wall and burst. However if you have revenge attacks like Zeus's bolt, maybe 13 damage is worth taking those hits for the revenge effects. a 100 damage bolt in return for a 13 damage ball seems fair to me, though ive not done this strategy it occurred to me while recording the damage it took for this post. He also creates a vortex of balls around him. These, just ignore, they have a low range, dash out of it near the styx, take a moment to recover your mana if you have a wait to regen skill or kill some of his adds.
Thats phase one, dodge around ball and vortex attack, punish his boomerang and scythe swing attack by standing in front of him in the blind spot damaging him. Looking for the arched back and shake that indicates is is about to dash.
Phase 2 - Instant death effects and you
The first attack is an instant death or damn near it, whole field wipe. One of the clock numbers will glow, that is your safe zone, you have enough time to get from the other side of the arena if you dash but the second you see a glowing number go for it.
Ticking Clock: A clock hand appears that moves around in order, if hit by the golden hand it will stun you for a second as well as damage you, but this is easy enough to dodge.
Closing circle: If the middle of the clock glows, a circle of damage is about to come, you need to dash outside of the magic circle as it closes in. Sometimes there are two circles.
Time grasp: He will reach at you and slow your time, this is pretty ok, you cant do anything about it but he doesnt do anything to hurt you while slow, just avoid hitting one of the AOE effects already on field. When testing he only ever did this once to me each battle so feels more like a flex than a real attack.
His second instant death attack is creating a black circle on the outside and middle with a range of no colour

Time bubbles, he creates many gold circles on the ground, getting caught in one when it goes off punishes you by freezing you. For me this catches me when im escaping the closing circle and he goes right in for the freeze, but otherwise easy to dodge

Bullet hell rings, he creates three rings of low damage golden balls, easy to dodge and position so they dont hurt you. I find my little froggy buddy usually negates an entire ring just sitting there. The warning for this is red circles on the ground. The 3rd ring is too far out to ever damage you, the inner ring is a shield and will probably need to be soaked, the middle ring is far enough away you can wait in the gap and hit him with ranged attacks and still be close enough to dodge boomerang and slice.

At half health he summons hourglasses and puts a shield around himself, you dont need to kill the glasses, but since hes shielded and bullet covered himself may as well until he moves back to a normal pattern.
The whole time he is using his three core attacks, the dash, the slice and the boomerang, All three have wider arcs meaning a bigger safe zone for the boomerang and the slice.
After 50% health there is less of a delay between all his attacks, but it stays much the same with golden balls added to the rotation more,
Just keep dodging the AOEs, stay in front of him when hes not casting those and hit hard and often.

Finally General run advice
Boon rarity, heroic boons are an amazing investment, an increase from 80 to 200 damage on posidons dash attack? insane, there are 3 methods i use.
Rare crop from Demeter, considering that this is the most reliable way taking Demeter's keepsake at the start of a run is a good call. Will take 1-3 of your boons and make them heroic over the next 12 encounters, so if you are going to take it take it early, it also helps to do that so it chooses the core boons you want to boost. Getting this as my 4th boon in order to make my main attack cast and dash heroic is something i will happily waste my hammers onThis can be supplemented by switching to Narcissus's keepsake after first boss to turn one more of your early boons heroic, just make sure to change keepsake before drinking from the fountain.

The opposite of this is Heras skill Bridal Glow, which makes all your boons heroic but slowly downgrades them. Only safe to take right before the final boss, but i did once get it in the final Charon shop and had fun. If not willing to take the risk on this Hera has one of the most powerful skills in the game IMO, Proper Upbringing infusion which makes all your boons rare

Hera and Hestia both offer means to trade offerings for higher versions also, so running either of these goddesses will leave you with more rare and heroic than not.
Hope this has helped if anyone has a 1k plus combo not mentioned here let me know :) And before you complain the game is too hard, use god mode.
Update: For fun after this i went back to 34 fear and tried using my least favourite weapon, the torches, i wound up getting 3 hammers this run which boosted my special, an echo double and 2 normal, so my blitz special became my burst damage and my passive damage, as the circling yellow orbs took out the adds, and as i surmised above, having two vengeance effects and soaking the golden balls was an effective way to damage Chronos. I wasnt quite doing enough damage to hurt chronos, but my hex ability came in clutch for bursts of DPSFor more fun the vows i used :)

Vow of blood and dominance - Opponents having more health and damage is standard of increased difficulty
Vow of fury - Honestly a buff, enemies being faster means they move into my attacks faster
Vow of commotion - More mobs isnt a problem as you can see i build up AOE damage for the end battle adds, rather than single target damage
Vow of wandering - never really feel the impact of this one, its three vow points for nothing, am i the only one who finds the zone 1 mobs harder than the zone 2 and 3?
Vow of scars, no healing, this hurts, honestly a run ender - not one to choose lightly
Vow of destitution, this seems bad, but not really, the vow of commotion adds enough mobs that you get enough gold to counter it.
Vow of panic - i leave this on for my low heat runs, it changes the way you play a little 0 mana at start of a round makes you think about and use your gain boons more effectively.
Vow of bitterness - I hate it i hate it i hate it. I lost a Hera boon when i chose her keepsake to get it! I lost a boss Zeus boon! Ah i hate this one. But in the end 3 less boons isnt that bad of a cost.
Vow of arrogance - this costs you primed mana for rare boons, but since i used rare crop and narcissus's keepsake to boost my boons to heroic it didnt have much impact at all on this run.
Vows i hate and will never use -
Rebuke - Just annoying having to chip all enemies before hurting them, it forces fast weapon styles and just annoys me enough to avoid
Haunting - maybe i suck, but battles just go forever and ever with this one
Forsaking - The FOMO of loosing a boon you wanted upsets me a lot so dont pick this one
Desperation - look i think i made good time sub 20 min here, but ive never won a game with this (or the hades equivalent on)
Abandon - 5 fear is a lot, but loosing my arcana cards is way too big a cost.
I think i could have activated vow of suffering and gone for 38 fear here, might try that one some time.

A few days ago, I received a file from a journalist friend who teaches at a private university in Montevideo. I known this person for years now and the exchange with her on our countless bar nights basically made me want to try to study journalism. After I started my career we became even closer and we shared concerns about the evolution of information, social media and the infamous cerebral callosity we acquired to endure the tragedy.
My friend, let's call her Valeria, was part of a public competition to accompany a minor scientific expedition to the Uruguayan Antarctic base. Her thesis was about investigating how information reception behaves in remote and isolated areas.
I barely read it , but basically tries to show that information circulates and is received in a particular way in these circumstances by a group of unfamiliar people living under extreme climatic and isolation conditions, having as an example, life in submarines and in military bases in Siberia. The Antarctic base gave her the chance to observe some of her postulates up close.
Finally, she was chosen and traveled with this scientific group in a commercial flight Montevideo - Santiago de Chile to later arrive at Punta Arenas and fly to the Antarctic base.
The last communication I had with her before she sent me the almost 90 photographic captures of the Journal, was on March 15, 2024.
We talked over the phone about how the weather was in Montevideo, that it does not stop raining and the cars are practically floating on the streets. She told me that the transport that was going to take them back was having mechanical problems and they would probably have to order spare parts for the plane from Punta Arenas. Then She told me that it is freaking cold down there and his colleagues are all very boring. Nobody has whisky for the evenings. We laughed about that part because I told her to bring at least one bottle of Grappa in her purse.
Before saying goodbye, she told me they had spotted some old metal structures south of the base. The soldiers told her that it was safe to go near that part so she was going to explore them. It wasn't there when they first arrived and that the recent and atypical heat wave probably must have exposed it. I told her to be careful and we said goodbyes.
Three days later I received an email. “Valeria shared a file with you.” As I start to see what it was about she calls me.
“Mauro? MAURO!, can you hear me?” She said in a nervous and excited voice.
“I can barely hear you, what happened?”I asked half asleep, while still lying on my bed.
“Listen to me carefully, don't talk, just listen” I could tell by her agitation that she was walking fast or maybe running. The creaking footsteps in the snow could be heard in the background. in the distance, a catastrophe-type siren was blaring.
“Are you alright? What happened? What's that noise?” I said, now sitting on the edge of my bed.
“I sent you a file. Transfer it to a flash drive, delete history and reset your cell phone, the computer and your email address. I'll explain everything later, it'll be worth it.”
“What? What are you talking about Vale?, what for? Tell me what's going on - I started to yell at her, in slide panic.
“Listen, I found something that is not supposed to exist. In the diary he explains everything. I'm going back to the base, I think someone is following me, I set off an alarm or something. Save that file for me until I get there and remember that... “
There were two loud booms and the sound of water invading the transmission. A choked bubbling and cracking sound reminded me of ice collapsing. My friend had fallen into the water, in Antarctica.
“HEY, are you OK?! What happened?!” - I kept screaming hysterically until the call was cut off.
I looked at my cell phone for a second. My hands were shaking, I tried calling several times but the phone went dead. I looked at the compressed file. I jumped up and ran to the dining room furniture, frantically looking for a white flash drive that had to be in a drawer somewhere. I couldn't find it, so I went back to my desk. I pulled the drawer so hard that it came off the rail and fell to the floor. I started to dig through my belongings on the floor, coins, papers, cards, nothing.
I thought, I struggled to remember where I had fucking put it. Finally I saw my backpack peeking out from behind the desk chair, I jumped on it and in the second small pocket from the inside, there was a cheap white 16G flash drive. I put it in the pc, downloaded the file directly there, took it out and fabric restored the entire system on the computer. I do the same with my cell phone as Valeria said.
At the time I didn't even question if those measures really prevented me from being tracked, and the idea that that was the reason made panic run through my body like lightning. Sitting on the floor of my room next to the mess, my body was numb with tension. After a few seconds, I rebooted my cell phone to try to call Lucia, her sister.
“Hello?”
“Lucia, it's that you? I think something bad happened to Vale, I hear her over the phone as if she fell into the water, and some rumbling. I don't know what I heard, I think she got into some trouble or some place she shouldn't have been - I realized that I was mumble and not saying anything clear. For some reason, I didn't mention the file.
“It can't be Mauro, I just spoke to her on the phone. She was at the airport in Santiago de Chile at the boarding lounge, we talked for about half an hour, she told me she was bringing a fancy bourbon to share and…”
I stopped listening, it didn't make sense, how could it be? what the fuck is going on!
“Mauro, are you ok? Is something wrong? it's too early, are you sure you didn't dream it?”
“Did you talk to her? half an hour ago? But...,” I exclaimed without being able to hide my confusion.
“Are you... sure it was her?”
“Yes, of course you moron, it's my sister! Did you smoke pot again on an empty stomach?”
“No, you're right, nevermind, thanks Lucia, talk to you soon.” I ended the call without letting her say goodbye.
Had I dreamt about it? I erased everything now, how will I know if I dreamt it? I hesitated absurdly.
This is surreal, I thought to myself as I looked at the flash drive in my hand. I refocused my attention and went to the attic looking for my brother's old laptop he left me before going to live in Spain. It was practically useless, but it was enough to see the file. I turned it on, waited for the decrepit Windows XP to load, and put the flashdisk in, opened the compressed folder and found two files.

I decided to open the journal first. From what I interpreted from the loading order of the screenshots, after reading it, I opened the image of the last page.

Day 243 of the 2nd mission 10: 40 am. March 12, 2019.
I am the head researcher of the Psychological Area at the UN Antarctic base; I'm currently assigned to Project Sisyphus categorized as the highest classified rank.
This is going to sound crazy, but the person living with my family is my clone.
It still surprises me when I say it out loud, but after being able to replicate the brain-muscular history (a perfect copy of our memory) of any person and having mastered replicating every cell of our bodies at any age, it was only a matter of time before the development of social biotechnology would emerge. Now and by worldwide agreement, as a complete secret.
There is absolutely no shame or a shred of ethics in what we do, there is no longer any constraint on what we can do to the subjects for the sake of research. That haunts me every day.
It all went to shit so fast, I doubt anyone will come to our rescue. The protocol says so, the base in the face of an imminent security risk will erase itself. The structure was designed to collapse methodically following a protocol of incineration and sinking. The immediate perimeter has underwater mines that make the ice collapse almost imperceptibly, but deadly to anyone who tries to leave.
No one can escape from the base, neither the research staff nor the subjects. Our place in the world is already taken.
I only hope that this journal along with my lab notes will be found at some point. I managed to construct a small insulating gasket for it so I trust it will survive in case this part of the building collapses as well.

With my pulse shaking, I answered the call.
“Hi you! The flight was delayed, can you believe it? This one is absolutely in my top three, worst trips of my life. I'm really hungry and everything is so expensive here. What are you up to? Tell me something, please, I'm soooo bored!”
I looked at her with confusion and I couldn't manage to pronounce words. When I was about to modulate an answer she interrupted me.
“What's the matter Mauro?, are you on pause? Is the signal OK? HELLO! Can you hear me? Can you see me?” She started to walk through the boarding lounge looking for better signal
“Yes yes, Valeria I can hear you.”
She laughed and looked at me with a face between sensual and serious, and continued.
“Do you miss me?” while raising the phone jokingly as she typically does in her selfie pose.
“Valeria, don't you remember calling me earlier today?”
“I? called you? Nop. Why? Ah! By the way, did you know there are penguins in Tierra del Fuego? I would have liked to go and see them.” She continued his verbose conversation in a carefree tone, with her typical hand gestures and playing with his hair.
“Well, at last!” She interrupted herself and shouted, jumping up from her chair.
“We are being called to board, see you in a couple hours!” She said goodbye with a smiling sonority, and began to walk towards the boarding gate.

My stomach dropped to the floor and I could feel as if my blood was running cold with fear. I could not shake the awful and eerie feeling that this person, who was returning, whom I had never in my life called by her full name, was not my friend.
So, the next couple of hours I put everything in to transcribe the rest of important passages of the diary. Something was compelling me to do it, i can't explain it, Some mix between moral duty, and morbid curiosity. Here is my selection of it.
Lab notes. day 96 of 1st mission 08:00 am December 22, 2016.
Subject JON X012:
First physical assessments: Normal, alert and inquisitive, exhibits some alteration to screens.
We place 100 cc of sedative in room air. The subject attentively follows the narrative of scenario B5 “The last mission”.
The subject responds positively to the premises of the story, where he is asked to address an audience threatened by a natural disaster, convincing them to choose a certain path out of the city.
He offers to collaborate but fails to articulate the message with the power to overcome the simulation.
We resort to pouring 125cc of concentrated Psilocybin into the air as stipulated in the protocol sheet.
The vocal frequency and body language reading receptors in the observation room are activated. The subject manages to formulate a series of premises articulately and with discursive power, circulating around the observation room.
Successful reaction.
We move on to the next stage.

Today we received a new lab assistant for the night shift. Much needed as I was covering these shifts myself and am really burned out. The underground operates at full power at those hours, the hum of the machinery becomes unbearable. This must be why the rooms have an insulating structure.

The new integration is not very bright. He labeled the transcripts wrong again yesterday and doesn't seem to fully understand the importance of these. I'm going to have to go through the whole method with him again. I don't have much patience lately, it's not his fault, he seems like a nice guy and it's real that I need a second of confidence. Better train him from now on. Maybe start a sketch of a short explanatory document.

Small introductory guide.
When the subjects conclude the incubation and breeding process (pages 19 to 52 of the manual), that is to say, that they have at least remembered speech and with it, depending on the time in which they lived, reading and writing, they generally begin to perceive themselves. Just before situational curiosity is when the psychology department comes into action. Either to run the “stand by” simulation or the main tests.
In each subject's file is the target of their cloning, the era in which they lived, and the recommended scenarios to trigger the desired response. If the file has X amount on the cover, this corresponds to the generation of the subject, whether it is the first or 10th time it is incubated.
Generally, it takes between 2 and 5 attempts to generate the correct simulation, and administer the appropriate drugs.
It took 5 attempts to come up with the correct amount of methamphetamine that subject AH X005 (Hitler) needed to function in the scenario, as the correct amount bordered on overdose.
Simulations are much easier since the implementation of multisensor AI. We managed to generate almost any scenario including temperature, smells, lights and sounds. We tried not to use familiar ones, as human smells are impossible to replicate. We found this out in a complicated way. We tried to recreate a conversation between RR subject X003 (Reagan) and his mother, but he recognized the fakery by the absence of body odor. His mind collapsed and we had to move him to the Underground. The people in Area C (Private Clients) almost lost a very large Chinese account.
After calibrating the subject, we ran both psychological and behavioral tests, scanned retinas, analyzed blood, as well as vocal and body language. But what has really yielded surprising results are the free interviews. It is amazing what some minds are capable of with the right environmental and chemical stimulation. That's why transcription is vital (!!)
Our area develops BC (Behavioral Algorithms) which are then bought by the private sector, and some government agencies.
To give you some examples: Twitter was an idea of subject JO X008 (Orwell).
Bots in social media and the use of big data was an idea of JG X002 (Goebbels) and KM X014`s worst nightmare (Marx) was bought by Amazon.
It is an arduous process and the success rate is low, but when we achieve the goal per subject, well, these results are a mein part of the latest revolutions of mankind.
So follow the lab rules, never refer to subjects by their actual historical name, and always remember, they are assets, not people.

Day 117 of the 1st mission 16:30 am January 12, 2017.
Today is a rest day all over area D. I miss many things from the old world that I thought I would never miss, taking a bus, standing in line with strangers, and today I miss Sundays. We only have one on the month. So as usual we gather in the rest area to listen to a liberated jukebox that tries to lighten the mood. I know, right? Why I wrote about this “Saturday” photocopy, well besides the same nostalgic drunks, I was approached by a person I didn't recognize.
From what I understood he was a rehabilitated alcoholic, maybe that's why I didn't see him on “Saturdays”. He must be in his 50's, he was portly and wore thick black-rimmed glasses, he seemed to have a slight limp, I noticed it when he went to refill my beer.
I am a very reserved person and find it hard to talk to people. Truth be told, I've lost the desire to talk to people here. What can you actualy fucking talk about here, if it's not about the same thing. Everything revolves around work and some inter-area gossip, which never escalates much.
But yesterday was Clara's birthday and to hide the remorse and sadness of only having shared with her the first 3 years of her life, I had a few too many beers.
We chatted about banal aspects of life in isolation, and the things we miss. For him it was going to the stadium to watch soccer with his grandchildren. I think it was loneliness and nostalgia that brought us together that night.
His name was Sigfried, I don't know if I spelled it right, but it was clearly Nordic, i notice because of some of the words he mixed up with English. He works as the underground level security manager. We all know that it is one of the most restricted areas and what we have learned in these almost 10 years in the project, is that the more restricted, the less questions you should ask.
But that day, I think I felt the urge to hurt myself, to go off the rails, so I asked what we all suspected but no one knew for sure. I asked about the blenders. I wish I hadn't.

Day 126 of the 1st mission 08:00 am January 21, 2017.
I almost can't express how furious I am today, but I'm going to try because if I don't, I'm going to punch the new assistant in the face. He has nothing to do with this, he's just mildly irritating.
Anyway, in Genetic Mapping or area A, they approved the incubation of another Anomaly. It seems to be an express request from a major shareholder and there is not much to say. Anomalies are very risky to reproduce, nature is wise, and for some reason it placed them in history moments where they had their limitations.
It seems that after the crisis of 2010 with “The Russian Devil” it is no longer scary enough. New school morons... If they had been there they wouldn't even dare to think about it. I AM FURIOUS.
The arguments are that this case lived longer, that the clone would be in his 70s, and that he possessed noticeably more “civilized” traits. As if the court of the last Zar had not been somewhat civilized.
Personally I think this is a big mistake. Since the discovery that some people possess unknown DNA components and with the 2010 background, they should draw the line. There are certain things, still beyond our ability to understand. But it is delusional of me to think that there are limits, someday the absence of them will consume us all.

Today was the last session with subject JON X012, I managed to extract the last retinal and body language readings, as usual before sending them to Underground level. We ran the dinner scenario, the truth is that is one of the best simulations we have achieved. The subjects are relaxed resulting in the best free interview environment. This one was no exception, I must say I understand the charm of the “messiah” turned out to be quite an entertaining subject. I hope his next generation will be similar.

I was tasked with the continuous monitoring of subject NT X004. I am not at all happy with this transfer. First of all, I know nothing about area B of engineering and technology. Secondly, I still think this is a really bad idea.
One of the laboratories has been set up with the essential simulation equipment and personnel. Tomorrow we start with the calibration.

Lab notes day 153 of the 1st mission 08:00 am February 17, 2017.
First interview with subject NT X004, we run simulation scenario 54-A, “Signal from another planet.”
Subject is observed to be receptive at first but quickly changes to paranoid. We administer 300cc of MDMA via air, according to protocol.
We introduce the reconstructed figure of a colleague in a cry for help speech.
The Subject laughs and doesn't believe a word, we move to a physical approach plane,
I volunteer myself with a room operator from the engineering area, we show him unfinished plans of an experimental vacuum propulsion engine.
He laughs again and tells us that we are not who we say we are.
We administer 50cc of DMT and move on to the next scenario.
From the screen an astronaut with non-human features sends a distress signal and intergalactic coordinates.
The subject looks thoughtful, reassesses, picks up the blueprints and begins to shout out values and what appears to be mathematical and physical formulas.
Air is charged with percentages of absolute sedation.

I'm not sure what happened today, this is the first time in 10 years that a subject overcame the deception of 3 simulations. We had to place absolute sedation in the air, as risky as we know it is. I recommended that we restart the process from scratch, but it was a resounding no, the client is in a hurry.
I need to get more involved in this case to recalibrate the subject. I don't know if I want to. The words before full sedation still resonate with me. “are you still using DC current? interesting...”

Something happened, I don't quite know what. The rooms have an emergency lockdown active. Outside hear security personnel mobilizing. I tried the intercom but it didn't work. The insulation prevents my screams from being heard from the outside. If this goes on another day I'm going to break the lock. I'm going to set my backpack to the bare minimum.

Day 157 of the 1st mission 21:00 pm February 21, 2017.
Yesterday I heard explosions in the B area. I couldn't take it anymore and broke the lock. Whatever it was I had to go out and see. The corridors were dark, and the underground buzzer went on, at least that worked.
I went right to the north staircase, down the 4 floors in near darkness, the power was failing. The entrance to the underground area was barricaded but I managed to see a figure peeking out from inside as they felt me making noises.
It was Sigfried, he pointed me in the doors direction and I entered through a heavily armored side door. I was surprised by the immensity of this section, it encompassed a large hall below almost all the sectors of the base. In front of us there were 4 large industrial pipes with switches and multiple smaller pipes coming out of their bases. These were repeated like mosaics throughout the area until they disappeared into the distance in the darkness.
Leaning against one of them were 3 officers in formerly white coats and a nearly dead guard bloodied on the floor. Poor guy, his legs were crushed with his flesh in the open. He was lying in a pool of his own blood.
He had a blank stare and was panting, it seemed from the pale of his skin, that his fate was imminent. My asthma began to pound in my chest sharply, so I reached into my bag looking for my inhaler. I told them between visible gasps of bad breath to please tell me what's happened.
One of the doctors had a badge from area B and another from area E which corresponds to bio-armamentistics. The latter burst into tears and said “We deserve it, every one of us, we deserve it”.
I knew the other guy, he is an engineer in area B. I could hear him babbling almost nonsensically about, as why they never thought about it, an issue with electrical power.
He looked at me carefully as if recognizing me and grabbed me tightly by my jacket pulling me close to his face transformed for the panic.
“He let them out, all of them!” but not only that, no no no no... he told them the truth. Nikola fucking Tesla hacked us and told them the truth.”
He began to laugh frantically with a face of absurdity until he burst into a choked cry. At that moment everything went dark. The emergency lights activated, and from far away and getting closer, along with the emergency sirens that began to sound, we heard a large mass of people screaming and running through the corridors outside.
Sigfried looked at me as they started to pound on the shielded door and said.
“We're fucked.”

After finishing the transcription, my whole body began to want to flee, the walls of my house were tinged with a faint blue light as the cloudy dusk came through the window, the lights turned off by my abstraction at the computer gave way to the dark corridors that began to feel alien. As I gently closed the pc my ears began to ring as if under pressure, my breathing became more present and the vibration of my cell phone interrupted my trance.
A call from the office. It was to tell me that I had a vacation week pending, that by schedule, I had to take it starting today.
Sons of bitches, now they even choose your time off - I thought at first, but at the same time I found the voice on the phone very strange, and to tell the truth, the procedure itself.
The anger turned into confusion that only added to the paranoia. The sounds in the street began to seem erratic, a chaotic and strangely familiar feeling came over me. My senses seemed increasingly acute, and they screamed:
Go away.
I grabbed the old laptop, the flash drive and headed for the bus station. The short trip from my house seemed like a long journey. People on the street looked at me with strange faces, the cell phone kept ringing with unknown numbers on the screen and a strange idea began to formulate in my head that whispered “Them, Valeria is one of Them”.
Already on the platforms I rummaged through my backpack where I confirmed that I had the key to the family beach house in San Luis, 60 km to the east of Montevideo. I turned off my cell phone, got on a bus heading to another and much far away town called Treinta y Tres. Sat near the last seat and slipped my cell phone in my front pocket of the seat in front of me, got off and commented to the driver with a clueless face, “I got confused, I'm going to the coast”.
I almost jumped onto the steps of the correct bus to where I was heading, unable to avoid the gazes of the passengers questioning me for the last minute drop in. I sat in my numbered seat and defragmented in dissociation, trying to understand what I was doing, I was running away, but from what?
The images of the last transcriptions were engraved in my mind, the last paragraph was repeated over and over again making me shake my head from time to time trying to get them away from my thoughts. The road was dark and I lost track of time, the digital clock within sight of the passengers jingling since we left, reading 10:40.
“San Luis Station!” - I heard the guard's shout in low volume.
I staggered to my feet, hurried to get off and with the same impulse I entered the dirt roads.
I zig-zagged through the dark, cold and silent beach town. The moonless night and the smell of the sea calmed me.
When I turned the corner to the gabled beach house of my family, on the steps of the front door lit by a white light, was her. Sitting, waiting for me. I stopped dead in my tracks and a chilling vertigo ran down my torso to my throat. We looked at each other for a short two seconds, until she stopped and started walking in sliding steps towards me, smiling and playing with her hands, crossing and uncrossing her arms. The growing sound of the wind through the trees covered us.
“Darling, how are you? How nice is the summer house, I don't think we ever came here, did we? Is it the one your grandmother left you?”
I felt the adrenaline rushing through my bloodstream, how could such a familiar attitude from such a familiar person transmit such panic to me? I had to answer something.
“Yes, this is it. I came to clear my head for a while, they gave me a few days at work and I wanted to take advantage of it.” I tried to excuse myself with failed dissimulation, since I stuttered in the middle of the words.
“Yes, I know! We arranged it with them, so you can be more relaxed and as a gesture for taking care of the file. Ah! and another thing. I think someone stole your cell phone at the bus station.” She looked at me with a smart-ass smile.
“Anyway, don't worry, they already found it on a bus on the way to “Treinta y tres”. You can get it back later.”
At this point I opened my mouth to ask for explanations, but as terrified as I was I only mumbled a “thank you”.
All this dialogue let us half a body length away, Valeria looked at me now a little more serious and stood at my side. She took my arm petrified and I could feel how a strong smell of neutral soap invaded me, as if she had rubbed herself in it too much.
“Shall we go inside? it's getting cold,” She said, finishing the sentence with a sweet gesture of pleading.
“Emm, shure.” I said.
My trembling hands managed to hit the lock on the 3rd attempt, we entered, turned on the lights and from his backpack she took out a red wine. Our favorite.
“Bring me some glasses, Mauro”. - She said to me as she sat down on the armchair against the window overlooking the gentle hills outside.
She poured wine until he almost filled the ex-cottage cheese glass, looked at me and in a toast gesture said.
“To... Dr. B?”
I slid a little smile and raised my eyebrows. Then I took half a glass in one sip.
“Well!” - She exclaimed, leaning over and resting the glass on the coffee table, and continued.

the coldness with which she answered me made me lose the little calm I had, I got up from the armchair and started to back away with my hands on my head, I couldn't stop repeating,
“this can't be happening, this can't be happening”.
“Hey! Mauro, calm down, it's going to be alright. I'm Valeria too. In every way, I'm still your friend, I know who you are and everything we went through, really, it's me, and when I finish managing the leak, the code, it won't work anymore, it will be erased from my mind and I'll be me. So don't worry. You only have to give me the flash disc and this issue ends here. We go back to normal life and nobody will know about anything.
“I'm not going to pretend that my friend didn't die! Alone, fucking freezing to death, I'm not going to let you take her place, I'm not going to let you!” - She interrupted me.
“Mauro, listen to me” - She came closer to me and grabbed my hands, her big, lined eyes looking at me with sweetness, like so many times before.
“I AM Valeria, I have the same fingerprints, the same blood, the same DNA, the same memories, the same scars, absolutely everything. Are you going to tell my mother that I died? to my sister? Are you going to report me? Nobody is going to believe you at all. If anyone even wants to believe you, how would you prove it? I am an exact copy”. - she told me, smiling with real sweetness and empathy.
I could only cry, for my friend, for the helplessness of the conclusion that she was right. I collapsed on the couch, and watched as the hills swayed in the night.
“Let's have the last glass and I'm leaving.”- she said to me.
“After I give you this, and that part of you disappears, will you remember that you are not... really Valeria?
“No, there is already a simulation on pause about Valeria's last week, she won't remember anything about this situation when she wakes up, because the memory is simply overwritten.”
“So I'm going to be the only one to know about this?”
“Take it as a gift Mauro, a glimpse behind the veil. And if you keep it that way, everything will be fine” - The threatening tone was soft but evident.
“Okay, hand me your PC and the flash drive.”
I looked at her evaluating all possible actions and if this decision was the right one, she stretched out her hand and smiled sympathetically. I gave her the old computer and the black 16G flash drive with the file. She inserted it, typed mechanically fast until the screen went black.
“Perfect, That would be all - She took out the flash drive, threw it on the floor and stepped on it violently with the heel of her shoe, put on his backpack and headed for the door.

From my pocket I took out the white flash drive and looked at it. Now I had a decision to make.

I recently installed a 48k, 4-zone Senville heatpump at my home in Dallas Tx. 2 of the zones are 9k ceiling cassettes, 1 zone is 9k ducted, and 1 zone is 18k ducted.
The ducted units have a wall thermostat (in follow-me mode). But unfortunately they are not able to maintain a temperature range closer than 3-4 degrees.
The 18k unit is in my master bedroom, which is doubly unfortunate as I wake up in the night because the room has become hot (when in ac mode). For instance, I'll have thermostat set at 72, and wake up to find it 75-76 degrees. Their lead tech person told me this was an energy saving feature so the compressor doesn't start up as frequently! As a former engineer at GM, that sounds like a marketing BS answer to an engineering problem.
I like other minisplits I've had in the past (like LG) because of their ability to maintain a consistent room temperature by ramping up or slowing down the fan and compressor speeds.
Even old mercury thermostats could maintain temps at as close as 1/2 or 3/4 of a degree. Come on Senville. Fix the problem, and send out new firmware, controlboards or whatever is needed.

PROBLEM: LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 16" OLED (2024, 16T90SP): Touchscreen stops working in non-standard OS Windows 11 Pro (without LG bloatware = LG Update, LG Smart Assistant, etc.). Device manager shows one "! Unknown USB Device" (Device Descriptor Request Failed), HID-compliant touch screen is hidden/not connected.
SOLUTION: Uninstall "Unknown USB Device" in Device Manager. Shift-restart Windows, Troubleshoot, Advanced options, UEFI Firmware Settings, Restart, Save Changes and Exit. Touchscreen should work upon boot up (this has worked for me twice now, after trying a multitude of other troubleshooting attempts with LG including driver removals/re-installations, LG Update, system restores, etc.). How to enter the UEFI/BIOS from Windows 11 (7 ways) - Digital Citizen

TLDR; M1,M2,M3: woes, doesn't support 3840x1620 HiDPI or 120hz. Regret not getting a 3840x1600 ultrawide instead. M3 Max MBP: Aces, supports 3840x1620 HiDPI & full 5k2k @ 120hz right out of the box no problems and looks fantastic.
Thought I would give back a little after weeks of research and drama buying, regretting, researching, then finding nirvana in the U4025QW.
Things I learned.

• The ideal visually is 109 PPI "looks like" and 218 PPI physical pixels with 2x integer multiple scaling [e.g. Mac 5k studio display] - you use quadruple the pixels for clarity rather than making the UI too small.
  
• The DELL U4025QW display only gets you to to 140 physical, but you can get roughly 109 PPI looks like by selecting 3840x1620 HiDPI - it's fractional scaling instead of whole number scaling, and also off by 20 pixels in the vertical direction with unknown consequences, so not apple Retina display ideal but damn nice.
  
• The M1, M2, M3 base chips regardless of platform do not support frame buffers over 6k, topping out at 3008x1269 for HiDPI. This is apparently because a frame buffer twice as big in each dimension is needed for HiDPI scaling. I confirmed this limitation on M1 mini, M2 air, and heard reports of M3 air as well.
  
• Max refresh rate is 60hz on the base M chips no matter what you select, even low non-HiDPI res for all these chips but this is as advertised.
  
• Because of the nerfed nature of above chips, the 3840x1600 144hz LG display would be a strong contender - you don't get HiDPI / retina-ish scaling but at least you're running a nice native resolution and if you have a Pro or better chip likely to get the 144hz refresh to boot. Also less demanding on the system since you are under 4k all day. And it's half the price.
  
• Also because of above details, 2x Mac Studio displays require a strong look
  
• The specs are ambiguous for the Pro and Max M chips around HiDPI and refresh rate for 5k2k monitors (most state 60hz for 8k externals, even if supporting multiple) - I took the risk so you don't have to... great news, I can at least confirm the M3 Max MBP (14 core model) not only renders 3840x1620 HiDPI, but also at a full 120hz. Native 5120x2160 also at 120hz. Not sure about the M2 Pro or M3 Pro but would love to know if it's the same. I couldn't find confirmed reports anywhere.
  
• TB4 can be flaky unfortunately, somehow related to MacOS, Dell FW update, or both. I experienced this (did not update firmware before or since) but it seems to have resolved itself by upgrading MacOS from 14.4 to 14.4.1.
  
• People have had success exceeding the refresh rate sometimes using "better display", custom EDID, etc (search) - and exceeding the HiDPI by setting up dummy displays (?) I didn't go those routes / seemed like there were shortcomings.
  

In the end I am happy. While I envy the studio display now knowing what I know about native retina scaling, I like having a huge edge in real estate, mono-display, the 120hz refresh rate, and 1/2 price of a double studio display setup. Also getting the HiDPI retina-lite scale clarity over a standard 4k ultrawide. I hope this helps some confused Mac person about to make a major purchase decision.
Would encourage anyone running this monitor to give.concrete reports from their chip M1, M2, M3.. aimini/MBP max/pro/ultra, etc. in terms of what HiDPI resolutions are available and what refresh rates are achievable with and without hacks and workarounds. It was hard to find this info....

With the new release of the Alienware AW2725DF I was wondering if I should finally pull the trigger but then came the price tag of 900€
As of now there is an offer for the LG 27GRQE-B for 600€. Problem is that I have seen many mixed opinions on this monitor which left me indecisive.
In general I really don’t know which OLED to go for, if I should just wait for the Price of the Alienware to drop or everything else you can imagine.
I’d really appreciate any help and expertise I could get.

Hello again. If you remember me, I was the person working on the research paper who had beef with their English teacher. I was considering posting a rough draft of my paper and repolling the questions, but I did not end up finishing that as early as I wanted. Plus, I was still unsure that anyone would want to read all that. The current results of my poll are about what I was expecting, and the majority of people said that they agree there is an issue, however, opinions on the solution are split almost exactly in half (yes and no are equal, but a few people have a different location in mind). I got 2/3 of my responses in about 24 hours and I still have a few days so I figure rerunning that question with the addition of my argument and seeing if I can get enough replies is worth a shot. I will include the briefest summary of my argument I can write here and a more detailed version as a blurb before the poll.
Anaheim has less than half the violent crime rate of Los Angeles making late/early walks or line camping safer. There are 44 more hotels at an $80 lower average price within a mile of the Anaheim Convention Center than the Los Angeles Convention Center making finding accommodations (with a walkable distance) easier and cheaper. There is an additional 264,697 square feet of space at the Anaheim Convention Center decreasing crowd densities.
I also have to address counterarguments for my paper. Right now, I am focusing on responding to different solutions since the majority agreed that there was an issue to be solved. I am currently considering “they should just sell fewer tickets” and “they should just get better at crowd control”(feel free to let me know if you have another opinion these are just based on what I have seen in discourse). These two I don’t actually disagree with; they were actually a part of my working thesis, but I ended up more focused on convention centers. I think that they are unlikely to be implemented sufficiently by Anime Expo for monetary reasons (management requires more volunteers and fewer tickets means they either raise ticket prices or lose money) and because those issues just seem to be getting worse despite having had several years to implement them at the current convention center. I, however, agree that they would have to be part of the solution, just not that they are likely to solve the entire problem. I think that the larger convention center solution is a better look for AX (look how much we are growing we had to move to a whole new convention center) and most of the extra space is exhibit space which they have people pay to use. Additionally not counted in the additional square footage is an arena (which is a part of the convention center which Crypto is not as far as I can tell, plus I think it is probably a more appropriate size) which they can either rent the floor space of or use for ticketed events. As far as a third convention center goes I don't necessarily disagree with that opinion as long as it is bigger Anaheim is just my preference/the example I decided to use.

Hey all,
I finally got everything working after following the initial setup guidelines (hooray!). Now, only issue is that I can't print because the extruder is way above the plate. This is CR-10 Smart Pro running MoonrakeKlippe Fluidd.
I did the usual googling for a couple of hours, tried the ( ) etc...to get this working. I know some of you will read this and say Doh!, but per the title, I'm all new to this.
Steps & findings:
1) TESTZ command does not work [// Unknown command:"[TESTZ]()"]
2) This device comes with BLTouch, and naturally I tried PROBE_CALIBRATE. I immediately get the screen for "Manual Probe" with values of Z 7.495, and Z min and Z max are empty. Pressing save didn't help at this stage, as I get the "// Manual probe failed! Use [TESTZ]() commands to position the nozzle prior to running [ACCEPT]()." Per my note, TESTZ didn't work.
3) So I ended up clicking things, and pressed the top - and top + buttons to make the front end declare its own min and max values. Now I've got 7.395 and 7.595 for min and max, and console responded by bltouch: z_offset: -4.950. I save config and restart.
4) Going back in I get the error "Option 'z_offset' in section 'bltouch' must have minimum of 0.0". So I realize (and read among other posts) that I need to unhashtag the z-offset / bltouch in the config, and I put in the 4.950 value. So far so good. I load a Gcode I prepared earlier for my CR-10 Smart Pro (while using Creality firmware) with Ultimaker and hit print.
5) I can't print. I thought its all very smart to include the jschuh's macros since the very beginning to expedite the setup, but apparently its blocking the printing process (probably for a good reason). Error was "!! Error evaluating 'gcode_macro _km_print_status:gcode': gcode.CommandError: Status 'none' not valid." I end up removing the include for his macro config from the printer.cfg.
6) Going back to printing. Probe touches the bed, starts the usual printing process. The nozzle is too close to the bed. I keep on to see what else could go wrong, so I can identify all other problems before halting. I increase the print speed to 200%. Print scrapes off the print bed.
7) I go back to the config, reduce the bltouch z_offset to 4.9. I "home" the axes. I run PROBE_CALIBRATE, getting the error "!! BLTouch failed to deploy". Thinking this may be due to the probe being too close to the bed, I raise the Z axis and run PROBE_CALIBRATE again. It works. This time, my Z reports 9.877 instead of 7.495 value. Strange. 9.872 min, 9.877 normal, 9.882 max values show up. I accept, get the error that "Manual Probe Failed".
8) I hashtag the z-offset in bltouch out, restart. Doesn't work because bltouch should have a positive value. Alright, I put in a "safe" value of 4.6, restart again. I get some mediocre print.
Any recommendations / thoughts on how I can make this whole process better?

America and Why we are not the"best" by Zephyr
Hi, I'm Zephyr, a guitar player who makes a living from music—from busking (street performing) gigs, studio work, etc. But one of my hobbies is studying and reading. Currently, I'm reading the first great English dictionary by Dr. Johnson. But recently, I've submerged myself in literary theory and am learning the Greek language, which surprises most of my friends. If you read 5 books in a year, you are already in the top 33 percent in America. If you've read 50 books in a year, you're in the top 99 percent. Before you leave and say I'm being cocky, I just spend most of my time reading and chasing conspiracies. I have over 30 journals in which I've written about many topics, especially the American Government. All I do is research, and I do not trust how we operate in today's society if you ask anyone what happened last year, last month, or last week. They won't know what to say. They will likely take a long pause, and the brain might be scrambled for a minute. It's called information overload. The American media and government work hand in hand to overwhelm the people. Most of the time, it's useless garbage. Unless it's some dumb trend or flashy dance, many will not recall it. Many people swipe away in fifteen seconds or less. But it goes with the question: why have we become comfortable? Why are we just surviving?

As the best country on earth, we can do such things. As the greatest country on earth, we must be the best at education, health, economy, agriculture, and infrastructure. Our Children must lead the world with new ideas and usher in groundbreaking inventions before they can even vote. Our healthcare should be the best in the world; not a person should die before 80 years old, and mothers giving birth are well taken care of. So much so that not one mother should die giving birth. No way a disease that's been around for over a century should still claim the lives of millions, and no one has come up with a cure. Being the greatest country on earth, crime should be nonexistent, everyone should love and get along, and everyone should obey the law. Also, as the greatest country on earth, our military should be everywhere in every country to be "the peacekeeper," spreading democracy and freedom. So that wars will not start over myths that could kill millions of people. Not overthrowing nations because their ideas go against American interests, not cutting food lines and starving other countries unless they do what we want. They are not secretly funding other armies or starting protests and riots that lead to regime changes and are spreading fear to all countries unless they fall in line. We don't do that as the best country on earth, right?
"Third World Countries"
The 20th-century anthropologist and historian Alfred Sauvy first used this term in an article published in a French magazine in 1952. Now, you hear it everywhere in reference to a poor country. Let's unpack a series of events that happened in a "third-world country." The beautiful country of Guatemala, proud people who overthrew their oppressors after centuries of oppression and a series of wars and conflicts, finally Guatemala became fully independent in 1841. Now, this country indeed has had its problems, but which country doesn't? I will not lie or be perfidious to get you to agree with my point. If anything, I want you to challenge me and call me out for whatever mistake you think I made. But in your findings you will find no error except the SUFFERING……. that America has caused. Now, to the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century in Guatemala.

Banana Republic
In 1904, O. Henry, an American writer, coined the term "Banana Republic". This means countries that are controlled by a private enterprise that primarily benefits the ruling class. You could say he was speaking metaphorically, but everyone knows he is talking about Guatemala and other countries like it that were being exploited for their natural resources. During the Manuel Estrada Cabrera regime, UFCO (United Fruit Company, now Chiquita Bananas) stepped into the political and economic arena. UFCO quickly took control over vast amounts of land in Guatemala and gave much to the U.S. by Guatemalan President Cabrera, including giving the UFCO tax exemptions, railways, and land grants along the Atlantic coast. His reasoning seemed to be fair and only to help the infrastructure. But this was just not true. He was an evil tyrant who only thought of himself and his masters in the U.S. supporting him. When the workers went on strike against UFCO in 1904, he sent an armed force to open fire on the sleeping quarters of the workers—killing many and injuring more. Over the next 14 years, more revolts and protests continued to happen, with many assassination attempts on Manuel Estrada Cabrera. All failed to remove him until the Tragic Week in April 1920. When revolutionaries of the Union Party gathered together in front of the National Assembly, President Estrada could no longer hold out after a week of fighting. Finally, seeing no other choice, he surrendered to the Unionists and was thrown in Jail, dying four years later. But this was nothing compared to the Banana Massacre of 1928, which killed 2000 people because they refused to work under the poor conditions of UFCO. Guess what the U.S. response was? Communist uprising. Despicable.

Hitler of South America

In 1931, Jorge Ubico came to power as a dictator general. The Hitler of South America was a massive supporter of fascism and nazism. Now, you can say he helped the economy by cutting salaries and increasing coffee production during the great depression, but he also killed thousands. He employed spies everywhere to make sure they followed his command. You will read about his projects: building roads and seaports or eliminating wholesale corruption. Indeed he did, but eliminating wholesale corruption under an authoritarian dictatorship who controls 100% of the country is FREAKING POINTLESS. When can you and your family be executed for not following orders? (In other words, the pot calling the kettle black) That's the problem with researching online. It's widely known about the evil and atrocities Jorge Ubcio committed. However, according to specific sources, they still try to be evasive, saying, "he did sustain the economy during the great depression," which is only half the truth. The economy has suffered for decades. Because Jorge Ubico's increased coffee production did not help in the grand scheme, people suffered like always.

When doing research, you must have multiple sources of information. It's to tell what's credible and what's not. Can a dictator do good things? Yes, a dictator can do good things. Like a good man can do evil things. However, in this case, when I searched for information about Guatemala's economy under Jorge Ubico on Google, I was met with partial truth. The average phone user spends most of Its time on social media and has a poor attention span like I used to have. They will see this and turn away, thus completing their research. I have argued with people who only look at the highlighted sentence of the passage. They did not even read the entire paragraph, and they did not read the article. Because of modern technology, we have become more lazy than ever. Instant gratification has ruined the appreciation of anything if not quick, easy and straightforward. If you can't get it right now, many people swipe away. With little resistance, most people will quit. Even those who aren't Gen-Z became so accustomed to this modern world. But there's a way to help that many don't like. Reading can elevate your mind, give you patience, and help you process information faster and even better at maintaining relationships. Jorge Ubico gave 42% of Guatemalan land to UFCO. Plus, with more tax exemptions (not like they had enough during the last regime), seventy-seven percent of Guatemalan exports went to the USA. UFCO controls the banana production in Guatemala, along with the telephone, telegraph lines, and railways.
After 13 years of killing, we forced labor and pillaged native lands. Jorge Ubico was overthrown during the October Revolution. Now, we're ending, but I hope you understand what I'm saying. The U.S. backed and supported every dictator and company that suppressed the people of Guatemala. What do Guatemalans do to deserve this? Have they not suffered enough? Have they not been through agony and pain? Spain leaves, and we will come in right after. One dictator is overthrown; we (the U.S.) replace it with another. This leads to what America fears the most: socialism/communism. We made the beautiful people of Guatemala hate each other by spreading propaganda and lies, which caused further strife.
Years of oppression from white colonists telling them you're lower than us, you're not more intelligent than us, not as advanced as us. Mainly because "you're darker than us." I do not pull what they call "race cards" ever. But even a racist would agree. Most Americans don't know about what happened in Guatemala or countries like it because we're idiots. No wonder why the world hates America. Don't listen to those Americans you will run into in certain places saying: America has saved more people than any other country else, and capitalism frees people from poverty. Has this happened? Yes........... IN AMERICA. But we kill millions everywhere else and force many countries to embrace communism or authoritarian-style governments. Then, we label them as savages. But communism is not the biggest threat to America, nor has it ever been. America's greed is the biggest threat to America. This is just one of the many examples of American Imperialism.

Delivering Freedom (Gifts from Heaven)
Delivering freedom is some dumb term somebody on Fox News said in the early 2000s during the Iraq war and stuck with American culture ever since. After Jorge Ubico was overthrown In 1944, the first democratically elected President of Guatemala, Juan José Arévalo, took office. A great man, professor of philosophy and political party leader that swept through Guatemala. He allowed free speech for the press, established social security, and established health and education programs for the people. After a few years as president, he chose not to run in the 1950 election. After the votes were cast, the presidency went to Jacopo Árbenz. Jacopo quickly got to work and continued the reforms of his predecessor. In 1952, he drafted a land reform bill titled 900 decree, which redistributed lands back to the people. By the beginning of 1954, 500,000 individuals had received their lands back, which had been stolen by UFCO. Unfortunately, this was the last straw for UFCO.
(Shortly after the October Revolution of 1944, the U.S. began propaganda about the newly elected president Juan José Arévalo. He claimed the Soviets were working with Jacopo and that he must be stopped. This is not true, but with the help of propaganda campaigns by Edward Bernays, many Americans believed and supported a potential intervention.)



The 1954 Coup D'etat

In 1954, the Guatemalan Coup D'etat, AKA PBSUCCESS, led by Col.Castillo Armas (he was made the new president), started. It ended with the deposing of Jacobo ÁrbenZ, killing hundreds in a 9-day-long campaign. 480 CIA soldiers with U.S. air support invaded Guatemala. It was already evil enough invading, killing and bombing innocent people (some only armed with a knife), but the worst thing was the U.S. denied involvement.
After reading all this, you ask why this matters. What does this have to do with today? In 1984, UFCO merged with ELI M. and became Chiquita Bananas after facing financial hardships. Though this may be true, they chose that name to sound more like "SoUTh AmErCIAN" and wanted to get rid of the name that ties them to the atrocities they committed, especially what they did in the 1982 massacre of 70,000 natives that destroyed 600 villages in Guatemala. Once again, we want to keep the workers of UFCO in check. Just for some bananas………..

This is the first time I’m using the dock since I purchased it last year along with my Steamdeck. It’s been sealed in the box ever since as I haven’t really felt the need to use it, until today, when I thought I’d like to plug it into my TV. Huge mistake.
I get no TV picture. I have tried three different TVs. Three different HDMI cables (one of them being the HDMI from the Nintendo Switch). I’ve turned off HDMI-CEC where possible. I have turned everything on and off again so many times, with some cables plugged in and some not.
I am aware there is a problem with the official dock as I’ve seen loads of posts and comments on this subreddit about it. I’ve had a look through many of them to try all the different solutions and I’ve had no luck with any of them.
TVs tried: - TCL 43C645K - Samsung UE22F5400AK - LG OLED55C9PLA
All these three TVs work fine outside of this.
Steamdeck OS version / build: 3.5.19 / 20240422.1 Dock firmware: 0.13.15.121 System is up to date.
Now the dock does appear to work and the Steamdeck also recognises the dock. The dock can receive power from the PSU and charge my Steamdeck. It can detect my Xbox One controller being plugged in via USB which works fine. It just doesn’t give a HDMI output, regardless of the cable or the TV.
The TVs do seem to recognise that something is connected via HDMI - on the channel select, the correct HDMI channel is lit up, indicating something is connected - however when you select said HDMI channel, no picture loads and the Steamdeck screen remains on. I have even gone into desktop mode and checked display settings, but it does not show another display beside it's built-in screen. Something is going wrong in the middle, almost like it's a firmware issue with the dock.
Does anyone have any other solutions, thoughts, etc.? Have you had a similar issue? For an official product it's legitimately awful. I have a JSAUX dock on the way to see if that works, since I've heard good things about it on this subreddit... who knew a third-party device could be much better.
Edit: Just received my JSAUX dock and it worked... immediately. Thanks for all your tips and solutions everyone, I haven't had the chance to try them now this new dock arrived.

Hi all,
I drive a 17 Camry that's treated me wonderfully - minimal repairs nor problems, drives like a dream. In the 8 years/200,000 km I've owned it however I haven't changed the battery out. There has been times when the car has failed to start, mainly after idling for some time (10-15 mins without the engine on) and I've thankfully been able to boost it though it's become a bit of a concern, especially during Canadian winters
Of recently, a Blackvue dash cam I've also had for 8 years has begun to not working - it boots up, records for 10 seconds, and shuts down. Rinse and repeat. I've tried reformatting and buying a new SD card, updating the firmware, nothing works. Some times it does run smoothly, maybe about 40% of the time. Something else of note, my girlfriend recently tried to charge her phone through my cars usb ports and realized it wasn't charging at all - it actually lost percentage.
All this is to ask.. is it possible that a weak car battery could be the reason for an inadequate electrical charge through the car, leading to the dysfunction of the dash cam as well as to USB ports to charge phones?

It's amazing as long as you use it as a videographer or explorer drone. Do not buy it thinking you are gonna cinewhoop ass in manual mode, it's severely underpowered for that and DJI their firmware will fight with you on every maneuver
But it's by far the best beginner FPV light drone ever made! The range and penetration is so good that in 200 flights of slowly trying to find the limit I have not had a single signal loss.Sure the video quality sometimes goes lower and the bitrate down to 1 mbit. But I have seen people fly another 2.5 km away while it's in 1 mbit. Now it's not long range, but mid range. But like anything under 2 km, 360 around you if you have a descent point with good angles (the los does not have to travel through to much), man you can spy on your entire city. We busted a thief the other day. We looked back at the 4K footage and saw somebody getting their wallet rolled!
If you are able to control yourself and don't do stupid stuff with it then it's gonna last you a long time. Very reliable, and you can be in the air from everything being in the bag in less then a minute. If you fly it where there is some background noise, even at just 20 or 25 meters high people can hear it but not good enough to find it in the air. Try to avoid return to home kicking in at all cost because it's very dumb and unless you are already clear of everything it will probably hit something in return to home and crash. You can tell by the mbit dropping when the signal is starting to go away, if you push it that's on you. But with the current range and penetration, I have not really felt the NEED to push it because of how much ground I can already cover. a circle with 2.5 KM radius is a lot of ground to explore.
Here is a vid where I am flying from my home, yes I am higher up on a balcony but my angle is not always perfect and often the signal is going through trees, walls or the roof before it gets to my goggles. Yet, I am 1 km away and still getting over 20 mbit most of the time. Around my house in a 1.5 km circle there are only a few spots where the angle is such that the signal goes through to much stuff and I have to fly up to avoid signal loss. I have set the distance limit to 1.5 km for now. But once I find spots with a very high elevation and 360 degrees, I will start trying a 2km circle. That should just be doable with the distance traveled the battery can manage.
And here is a low light vid. I can see better at night thought the goggles and cam then with my own eyes! Compare that to what my go pro 11 was seeing!
Here is another flight from home, nice moment the first time some pigeons started circling me. I rotated the camera around because if they would come to close my plan was to fly straight up. But I don't think I need to fear pigeons (just hawks and eagles)
I also manage to get the fly more combo plus controller for a total of 1100 dollars. I think that is a hell of price for something you can fly 1.5 km away from your own home without having to worry to much about anything.
And I just love to share the goggle feed with other people by streaming to a phone.
So if you want something that works out of the box with supperior goggle image quality and the best possible range and penetration on the market and you don't care that it sucks in manual and you will probablly never do flips and rolls and powerloops with it, then get it.
If you do try to fly manual like that you will crash and break it, and it's unrepairable. Much of it is a single piece of plastic, the antenna's are inside the prop guards. One crash and it's over, and DJI will say "pilot error!"
One more thing, the motion controller is a gimmick. The only redeeming factor is the headtracking, with headtracking on you can give the motion controller and goggels do anybody and they will be able to fly it in beginner mode even inside the house, no problem. But the controller 3 is 10x more accurate. So if you fly with headtracking and motion controller first and then switch to the controller like I did then in the beginning you will still move your head like an idiot. The headtracking and pressure of the goggles on forehead, and the 50 ms delay on the headtracking can give you a headache. Now that I switched to flying with the controller I can already maneuver through the smallest spaces as long as there is not to much wind. And emulating the headtracking by yawing and using the up and down wheel is a better way of doing it, more accurate, less headeache.
So don't allow anybody that wants to keep on flying get to comfortable with the motion controller, it be such a waste of the avata 2 to only fly with the motion controller. And shame on DJI for not having the controller 3 as standard and motion controller as optional. Because people that only fly with the motion controller are missing out more than the headtracking gives them in return. After all it's the feeling of control that I have always found the most pleasant aspect of RC.

Just a little PSA. I’ve had problems with my Steam Dock since it first came out but especially after the 3.5 update. Constantly I’ve had issues with it being plugged in but bringing up only a black screen on my TV that gets fixed by unplugging the power cable, which is an annoying fix. I’ve tried just about EVERY fix, including downgrading the dock firmware, but nothing made it “just work.”
I got so tired of spending more time fixing it then playing I decided to just get the JSAUX dock, and yup, it instantly worked. No screen flashing, no black screen. Only problem I’ve had is I had to turn down the image size a bit so it fit my TV screen better. That’s all.
I’ve got an LG C1 and I’m playing at 1080p 120fps if that helps. If you’re having Steam Dock problems, just get the JSAUX.

I’m on the hunt for a 38-inch ultrawide monitor that ticks all the right boxes. Here’s what I need:

• Resolution: At least 3840x1600, because once you try x1600 over x1400, you realize what an insane difference those 200 pixels can make.
• Refresh Rate: 120Hz minimum. Not much of a gamer, but I do love the smoothness in general computer use, and would love to upgrade the last non-60Hz screen in my life (laptop, phone, tablet, TV).
• Brightness: Honstly, anything more than the 300 nits of my current display would be great.
• Budget: I’m aiming to keep this purchase between $700 and $900.

Current Monitor:

Currently, I’m rocking the LG 38WK95C-W. It’s been great for years, but I’m missing out on the higher refresh rate and brightness levels I now find essential. ProMotion on the M1 Max I got recently is so dang nice.

Monitors on My Radar:

1. LG 38WN95C-W This is a direct succesor to my current model, and exactly what I need with 144Hz refresh rate and boosted brightness (~50% more). Problem is, it’s rare to find at a good price. Because of LG's stupid model naming scheme, the almost-identical model names (‘K’ vs. ‘N’...huge difference in specs) are also easily mixed up by used sellers, which doesn’t help. Tips on finding this model would be amazing.
   
2. Dell Alienware AW3821DW Reviews suggest this monitor is a gem, and it fits my budget. However, I’ve heard rumors about its firmware being locked and possibly it being at the end of its lifecycle. Does anyone have insights on this? Would it be a dealbreaker for you?
   
3. LG 38GN950 It’s quite similar to my current LG but has a gaming aesthetic. While I'm not a fan of the "gamer" look, it’s subtle enough in this model that it wouldn’t put me off. Mainly available as renewed...any experiences with its longevity and performance?
   
4. MSI MEG381CQR Plus The specs are right, and the price is appealing, but the design is a major deterrent for me. It's quite "bold". I’d need to hear some compelling testimonials about its quality and performance to consider overlooking its aesthetics.
   
5. LG 38WR85QC-W This model seems to be a potential successor to the LG 38WN95C-W, sitting at the top of my budget range. I’m interested in details like how it performs under different lighting conditions, any standout features, or potential issues. Has anyone had firsthand experience with this one?
   
6. Dell U4025QW This is an honorable mention. I added it more as a "wish I could afford it" option—the resolution and refresh rate are positively drool-worthy. But, that price tag... absolutely killer.

Hello , i got my AW3225QF since yesterday and well .. i am kinda dissapointed
For the context i own a TV OLED since 2018 so i know what OLED can do
Few things : SDR is too dim like damn i have a BenQ XL2566k and this one is so dim i need to put 70% brightness to have something decent
This monitor and probably the LG with the woled panel is designed for cave dweller i mean my room is not very bright and already i feel like its too dim
HDR is washed out i tried True black 400 and peak 1000 pretty much same things colors feels washed
When i used to play on my OLED 6 years ago i never have this problem
my monitor is updated to the last firmware Dolby Vision OFF i did the HDR calibration thing
I tried BF1 and Forza Horizon 5 in HDR and .. idk dosnt feel like HDR
If someone got a idea what to do to have a proper HDR experience I'll take it tkx :)

I dont get it that there are genuinely loads of people that dont understand the SC devs and the way the game works most questions that are asked are mostly baseless and pointless ik im late on this but wtf are you guys spewing if youre on NA it doesnt have enough players to have any sort of good playthrough therefore opinions are wrong, the ONLY correct and best most beneficial approach to the game is bandits= Covenant it can be seen through updates and such post on the steam that this faction clearly undermines the rest and is held in higher regard by the devs meaning less nerfs and changes, playing stalker is marginally worse experience than that of bandits the only good thing is the hounds exoskeleton(goncha) all other benefits and locations suck,
the real problems of the game are that you can get all max gear through barter WITHOUT EVER going to Yanov and back water theres no point, you can wait for events to cash on Rubles and buy artifacts through auction because of the people that do go there and its too dangerous to risk loot that far, we need an extension to the map with the next rank of faction(s), game needs to add more quests that interact with the map, paint that matches the gun patterns and doesnt leave smudges it seems to me that you people have a problem with SC being a skill game and not a gear game it does impact it but on its own levels therefore with the servers putting you with players of similar gear score
the game plays fine mechanically regarding the hours needed to complete certain barter lines i think EXBO provided analytics for the hours needed, ALL loot in the game can be obtained through f2p you never have to pay EXBO a dime its all possible youre stupid to give money imo with intent other than to support,cosmetic,rush cases because you dont have time to play in foreseeable future on a event, you paying to skip content feels to me like you want to be done with the game because youre trying to skip content, i have 900 hours in SC i have been playing since launch on steam, at endgame you dont play the game without an ongoing event because its bs and the grind is minimal in returns with events you can get what you need and log back in to the game for the next therefore youre not slaving for the game all the time, find other games to play every 3 months approx event time difference,

On the issue of cases there is secret pity on leg part and theres a drop order and the game scans your inv with a player priority attached system that determines the chance of those drops that is completely random you need to open 500 cases at one instance and after you can do 250 at one instance your chances are siginificantly lower without constant rolls it isnt an unforgiving random system of drops its a smart design that prays on your greed/incompetence/impatience this thing is hard to explain but you have to understand that you arent throwing a dice with 6 sides all the time theres a thing attached to it, cases are going to be done soon why are you whining the drops from slav arena arent that great the only good one is SBA tank and the scar is not bad but the wa2000 still outclasses it and the RPL in general is a better gun than the one from the boxes and the SBA is mostly viable for session battles because of its low anomaly resistances
