Ebony’s Identity
EbonyPrince2k24 is likely a current employee at The Mark Hotel in NYC responsible for security. He is presumably employed through a third party company that took over the hotel’s security department.He is a member of the Ballroom House “Iconic House of Ebony”. Ballroom Houses are alternative families for queer folks (mostly gay men, drag queens and trans women) who are often estranged from their family of origin. Members refer to each other as siblings and are led by House “mothers” and “fathers”. Ebony’s whole Riddler scheme seems to have been approved by the leaders of the House of Ebony.
Note: I have been provided definitive proof of Ebony’s identity. I will not share this information publicly and ask you not to either. Ebony could face serious legal and physical threats if his identity was revealed. Please refrain from messaging me in this regard.
The January 2023 Incident
He seemingly witnessed an incident with Drake, Chubbs and Christopher Alvarez in January 2023 that got two of his hotel colleagues fired. According to one of Ebony’s tweets, Drake supposedly was rude to service providers during or in relation to the incident. Ebony claims to have CCTV footage of the incident and has since provided proof by filming the footage playing on his laptop.Ebony describes some instances of Drake being rude to service providers: - pushing service providers out the way when they were trying to assist - banging a service provider in the head after mistaking them for a paparazzi - giving service providers wrong times and then complaining about preparation

Christopher Alvarez is a freelance journalist with Thanatophoric Dysplasia Type 2, a severe skeletal disorder.
Alvarez and Drake met the first time in June 2017. He is admittedly a Drake fan, having an entire IG story highlight dedicated to him.
Alvarez was suspected to have been a victim in the altercation and became the focal point of various conspiracy theories. However, these have been debunked by Alvarez personally.
On 13 May 2024, Alvarez published an article in the Brooklyn Eagle on his sudden involvement in Ebony’s Riddler scheme.
Alvarez clears up the rumors:
“I was with Drake that night because we briefly met after dinner, but all the accusations are false”.Alvarez elaborates:
“I can confirm that I was with Drake on the night of Jan. 22, 2023. After his NYC concert with 21 Savage, I was called to meet Drizzy at The Mark Hotel, and we had a blast listening to new beats. I am not in the position to talk about his character outside of our meetings but I can say I was not violated in any way.”Alvarez confirms that a hotel security guard was fired for letting him wait inside the hotel instead of leaving him out to freeze.
Alvarez feels bad about the hotel’s decision:
“I’m sorry to him and his family. Good people doing good things out of the kindness of their hearts should not be condemned, and The Mark Hotel should reassess who they put at the top of the chain.”Alvarez also posted on IG the day after the date of the CCTV footage on 22 January 2023.
The July 2023 Incident
The Weintraub ProtestsWhen Drake returned to The Mark Hotel in July 2023, a 19-year-old led a protest and campaign against the hotel beginning in June 2023. Theodore Weintraub and his protestors alleged that the hotel served underaged teens with alcohol during the pandemic, that there were prostitutes in the hotel and that The Mark was connected to Epstein.
The Mark filed a lawsuit against Weintraub on 27 July 2023. The lawsuit names multiple witnesses, among them police officers, hotel employees and security officers. The document further names a “VIP Guest #1” and “VIP Guest #2” who were not mentioned due to a protective order.
On 17 July 2023, a security officer reported that the protestors were refusing to move because they heard a VIP guest would be arriving soon. The NY Post confirmed that the protestors were in fact harassing Drake on his arrival that day.
The protestestors also accused the hotel’s doorman of being a pedophile.
On 22 July 2023, Drake complained to hotel management about the protestors' comments. He wanted to know why they started to yell specifically whenever he was leaving the building.
The Police Officers
Ebony was likely entrusted with Drake’s security during the protests. There was an incident apparently involving an assault leading police being called.
Two of the NYPD Officers responding were Officer Nicholas Viola and Officer Jamal Wiltshire. Both officers are mentioned by Ebony and are also named as witnesses in a document filed on 10 May 2024 in the Weintraub lawsuit.
After the police were contacted by the complainant, Ebony himself may have became a suspect almost leading to his arrest. He was supposedly able to clear his name after showing the police CCTV footage.
The Caviar Kaspia
The incident may have taken place in a restaurant called “Caviar Kaspia” which is located in The Mark Hotel. Caviar Kaspia also offers private dining. They pride themselves with discretion.
Their CEO famously once said:
“What happens at Caviar Kaspia stays at Caviar Kaspia. [...] We never say no, or at least we always try to find a way to please the customer. […] There are many, many stories. If these walls could talk, they would have an endless amount of stories. Thank God they can’t.”Ebony first posted a photo of the restaurant’s logo saying he would never forget it. He then alleged that something happened there on 27 July 2023. This would line up with Drake’s last show in New York at Madison Square Garden on 26 July 2023. Drake’s stay at the hotel began with his first show in New York on 17 July 2023 at Barclays Center.
How Ebony Got Drake’s Items
Ebony likely got ahold of the items in the Meet the Grahams Cover at the end of Drake's stay in July 2023. All the prescriptions and receipts are also dated July 2023. Drake left the items in the hotel and they were probably kept in the storage for a limited time without Drake ever picking them up.Ebony insinuates that a little bag and a big bag were left in Caviar Kaspia at The Mark on 27 July 2023.
According to Ebony, there are standardized procedures for lost items: - a pickup of the items or - a shipment of the items or - a disposal of the items if the owner isn’t available for arrangement of the other options.
Drake presumably only arranged for the shipment of the little bag. The big bag with the respective items were deemed unimportant and were to be disposed according to Drake’s supposed instructions.
The items were kept by The Mark in a High Value safe for three months before the respective department’s Director called for their disposal. But Ebony apparently took them instead.

In a second video by Ebony, dated 13 May 2024, he claims that the items in his first video were not the only ones in his posession. He shows several jewelry items he refers to as “diamonds”. Most of them look like women’s jewelry so it’s unclear whether Ebony claims that the items belong to Drake.
Ebony adds, that Drake’s claim of his items being stolen introduced a dilemma to his “professional world”. This could allude to the fact that stolen items cannot be auctioned.
But it could further allude to Ebony regularly selling items that were left at The Mark. If Ebony had a side hustle of selling celebrity items or similar goods, it would come to a halt if he was publicly accused of theft.
How the Items got on Kendrick’s Cover
Ebony claims to have given Kendrick the info and photo about the items. Kendrick supposedly still has Ebony’s phone number and was provided with a riveting e-mail about Drake but not any further information. Ebony alleges that there must have been other moles in Drake’s camp.Ebony verifiably is in possession of the items on the Meet the Graham cover. The veracity of the prescriptions was checked through their RX number and the receipts can be checked online.
Since the items are infamous now because of their inclusion on the cover their value is lot higher than before. This is probably why Ebony went back to his original plan of auctioning the items off.
Why Ebony Became the Riddler
Ebony claims to have heard Meet the Grahams on 6 May 2024 in the employee cafeteria - two days after its official release. He says he knew “his assignment” since then.Ebony’s Financial Agenda
The reason for Ebony becoming the Riddler and targeting Drake and DJ Akademiks refers back to the claims of the items being stolen or being planted.
Ebony is a self described “Black American Capitalist”. He accuses them of standing between him an his money. Claims of theft would make selling the items impossible. Claims of them being planted would render them inauthentic.
Ebony’s manager was allegedly also made aware of the claims of theft and advised him to get an attorney.
So this why the twitter account EbonyPrince2k24 was created: - to prove the authenticity of the items - to argue that the items were not stolen - to force Drake and Akademiks to retract their statements regarding the items
DJ Akademiks responded to Ebony’s demand to retract his claims by threatening him during a livestream. Ebony responded with a threatening twitter rant himself.
Ebony’s Personal Agenda
Ebony’s motivation doesn’t seem to be purely financial, however. As referenced above, Ebony was personally offended by Drake’s alleged rudeness and arrogance when interacting with service personal.
Ebony is also trying to defend his professional reputation. The Mark seems to have implemented new strategies on monitoring their guest’s age after the Weintraub lawsuit.
Ebony claims to have completed a certified training in identification of child abuse. He seems to have taken offense to current rumors around Drake as they insinuate he didn’t fulfill his professional obligation of reporting questionable activities. However, his tweets could also insinuate that he indeed failed to protect someone from abuse.
And above all he’s admittedly a Kendrick fan.

I think I might have tied everything Ebony posted together. Ebony is leaving a paper trail to prove that he has tried reporting Drake for suspected human trafficking previously but was almost silenced, and that the two men who DID report Drake were killed. This would seem to answer many of the communities concerns that he is withholding information from the authorities, when in fact he has already tried and failed to get Drake convicted. Here is my breakdown of the proof:
-Child Sex Trafficking: Ebony makes it clear that something happened in 30 seconds of CCTV film that incriminates Drake. He then posts about Children of Harlem standing up, alluding to children being taken advantage of in this case. Ebony then links to an article about teen drinking at the Mark hotel, and the subsequent protest revolving around the Mark enabling Jeffery Epstein’s human trafficking. In fact, later on Ebony says that NYPD were called in to keep protestors away from Drake, the same day as the CCTV cam Footage. Later on, Ebony makes a post about the hotel’s lost and found policy. Seems random right? Wrong, Mariska Hargitay, the name on presumed Lost and Found sheet is an advocate for sexual abuse survivors. “The Drop” is a tactic advertised to such populations, where you purposefully leave something identifiable to yourself in a location like a Hotel in order to receive a call back without suspicion, where you can subsequently ask for help. Finally, his recent post shows a “Child Abuse and Maltreatment” training which, if he were a security guard at the Mark, mandates him to report all suspected Child abuse. This all seems to point to a minor who was accompanying drake leaving a drop, which tipped off EbonyPrince to the Drake’s Sex Trafficking operation. So why didn’t he report?

My read is that he is implying that Drake was able to silence the two men who did report him. Taking a look back at the NYPD post, notice that Ebony says NYPD was protecting Drake from the protestors. This seems to shows that he believes the Police are being paid off by Drake and that he must make the evidence public. One of his earlier post is an evidence bag, the type you would see in an investigation. This along with his mandated Reporter status as a security guard seem to be implying that he has an alibi and reasoning for going public with this information instead of going to the police. You might've found it already but here is another video from the OP of this PE tweet, conveniently on Jan 22 2023 and uploaded almost two months later, which follows suit with his flavor of content.
Throughout all of this, I have been trying to archive every single link that I can find, however, when i got to his videos, I've noticed that his oldest 3 have already been archived on May 26 2023 (one boogie video June 11), and none of his other videos are archived (which to me indicates he is not the one backing them up).
Obviously there isn't a ton here (besides video for another post) but, out of the stuff I have archived since "meet the grahams" this is one of the only ones archived that early after posting, especially on a nothing-video with only 300 views. I'm speculating that Ebony is the one backing this up, but there also seems to be police interest in that night's performance too (nypd says it was for social media).

Throughout all of this, I have been trying to archive every single link that I can find, however, when i got to his videos, I've noticed that his oldest 3 have already been archived on May 26 2023 (one boogie video June 11), and none of his other videos are archived (which to me indicates he is not the one backing them up).
Obviously there isn't a ton here (besides video for another post) but, out of the stuff I have archived since "meet the grahams" this is one of the only ones archived that early after posting, especially on a nothing-video with only 300 views. I'm speculating that Ebony is the one backing this up, but there also seems to be police interest in that night's performance too (nypd says it was for social media).

In Spring 2019, I found myself divorced, broke, and homeless. My life had been one struggle after another.
Why was THIS HAPPENING TO ME?! And WHEN was I going to get out of this nightmare?
In spite of the turmoil, I knew deep inside this was created to give me my wings in life.
During the day, I would apply for jobs and also look for gigs on Craigslist. Some weeks I'd make enough for pizza and cigarettes. Other weeks I'd visit the local food pantries.
At night, I would sleep in Central Park. If it rained I would sleep on the A train.
Despite the discomfort, I enjoyed sleeping in the park. It felt primal and freeing. My favorite spot to sleep was in Tarr Family Playground on W 100th St and Central Park West. I would hop the fence at night and scurry to sleep under the children's slide. This way when NYPD made their nightly rounds, I would be hidden. I did this from aprox May to August 2019.
I had a 10 min "Feeling Your Desire" meditation on my phone. I played this meditation before sleep, under the slide for about 2 weeks. A week after, I remember laying down and feeling a beautiful, loving, sense of satisfaction. It was so beautiful and so loving. The feeling itself was worth all the gold in the world. Furthermore, I knew this feeling meant I would no longer be homeless.
Fast forward about 4 weeks: I wake up and have a strong impulse to create an ad on Craigslist. I made a post offering to exchange cooking/cleaning for someone's spare bedroom. It was a long shot according to *reason*, but my impulse overrode my doubt. A man named P, emailed me within a few hours. Later that day, I'm sitting in his living room as we feel each other out. I was wary of pervs lol. But P is a beautiful soul and our conversation put me at ease.
P explained he had two knee surgeries and could no longer walk his beautiful white Labrador, Nina. P needed someone to walk Nina thrice daily and he exchanged this service for his master bedroom. We agreed and I moved in 2 days later.
P's lives in a historic building named The Braender which has its own Wikipedia page (fahnceeee!). It is staffed by a doorman 24/7. And P's apartment is located 1.5 blocks away from Tarr Playground where I first felt that beautiful feeling of my desire fulfilled. I had quite literally walked past this building every night on my way to sleep in the park (reminding me of Joshua 1:3). I stayed with P and Nina for 2.5 years. During that time I was able to let go of depression, learned the Law deeply and eventually leave for greener pastures.
Since this experience in 2019 I've had many, deliberate manifestations that amaze me:

- I learned a simple framework that allows me to successfully sell any product/service that exists.

- I manifested sexual experiences so amazing that I've not desired intimacy until it's with my "future" wife.
- And most of all, I've manifested a relationship with myself and with whatever Source/CreatoGod there is, that is so sublime. My favorite activity now, is sitting in stillness and feeling God's presence in my body.

Overworking their officers with little to no sleep. Normal shift of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. I believe. Is given a detail one day that goes from 1:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. and instead of giving the next day off or a later schedule, expecting officers to come back in again at 7:00 a.m. for a normal 8 to 10 hour shift. Am I the only one that sees something majorly wrong with that? Expecting officers to perform their normal duties in New York City on less than 4 hours of sleep on the high end. I've heard countless stories of the NYPD overworking their officers to the point where it's affecting their mental health but they don't seem to care. Terrible organization on top of the fact that they are working in a city where there is a decent sized population that actively protests against them while they are still expected to protect them

More than 2,000 people have been arrested at protests on college and university campuses around the country opposing Israel’s military strikes on Gaza since the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas, and the subsequent humanitarian crisis there. It is unclear how many of the protesters are students, as many of those arrested have not been affiliated with the universities, or how many of the arrests will result in charges—sometimes arrests at protests are designed simply to clear an area.
The roots of today’s protests lie in an investigation by the Republican-dominated House Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Virginia Foxx (R-NC). The committee announced the investigation on December 7, two days after its members spent more than five hours grilling then-president of Harvard University Claudine Gay, then-president of University of Pennsylvania Liz Magill, and president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sally Kornbluth on how their universities were handling student protests against Israel over its military response to Hamas’s attack of October 7.
Led by Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Republicans on the committee insisted that the universities were not protecting Jewish students. The university presidents responded that they deplored antisemitism, that students had the right to free speech, and that they took action against those who violated policies against bullying, harassment, or intimidation. But in their defense of free speech, they admitted both that hate speech against Jews and others is sometimes protected and that they had sometimes made bad calls.
The Republicans’ interest in protecting Jewish students on campus overlapped with their opposition to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives that they associate with Democrats. Burgess Owens (R-UT) said DEI initiatives protect Black students at the expense of others. “I just remember a couple of years ago when we were dealing with Black Lives Matter,” he said. “Try to talk about Blue Lives Matter, Jew Lives Matter, Arab Lives Matter—they call it racist. It’s time for us to focus on what’s happening on your campuses.”
Stefanik called the testimony “pathetic” and, along with 74 other members of Congress, demanded that Gay, Harvard’s first Black president, resign. On January 2, following accusations she had plagiarized scholarly work, she did. Her resignation followed that of Liz Magill. “TWO DOWN,” Stefanik wrote on social media.
Two days after the university presidents’ testimony, Stefanik announced that the House Education and Workforce Committee would be investigating universities. “We will use our full Congressional authority to hold these schools accountable for their failure on the global stage,” she said.
On February 12 the committee informed Columbia it was next up. Columbia University president Nemat "Minouche" Shafik had been unable to testify with the other presidents in December and gave her testimony to the committee on April 17, along with co-chairs of the Board of Trustees Claire Shipman and David Greenwald and former dean David Schizer over the university's response to antisemitism.
In an April 16 essay in the Wall Street Journal, Shafik wrote that “antisemitism and calls for genocide have no place at a university…but that leaves plenty of room for robust disagreement and debate.” She said she prioritizes “the safety and security of our community” and that while the attack of October 7 had a "deep personal impact" on the Jewish and Israeli communities, there was also a "humanitarian catastrophe" in Gaza, and the war was "part of a larger story of Palestinian displacement." She explained that Columbia had defined a space for protests to enable those they upset to avoid them.
Opening the hearing, committee chair Foxx said: “Since October 7, this Committee and the nation have watched in horror as so many of our college campuses, particularly the most expensive, so-called elite schools, have erupted into hotbeds of antisemitism and hate.” Stefanik called out tenured professor Joseph Massad of the Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies department, who called the October 7 attack a “stunning victory.”
Shafik responded by condemning the professor’s statements. “Trying to reconcile the free speech rights of those who want to protest and the rights of Jewish students to be in an environment free of harassment or discrimination has been the central challenge on our campus, and many others, in recent months…. We do not, and will not, tolerate antisemitic threats, images, and other violations…. We have enforced, and we will continue to enforce, our policies against such actions,” she said.
Ilhan Omar (D-MN) questioned Shafik about discrimination against pro-Palestinian protesters. She noted that Israel-born assistant professor Shai Davidai was accused of harassing pro-Palestinian students; Shafik said they have had more than 50 complaints about him and he is under investigation.
On April 17, the same day the Columbia officials testified, pro-Palestinian protesters organized by Columbia University Apartheid Divest (a self-described “coalition of student organizations that see Palestine as the vanguard for our collective liberation”), Students for Justice in Palestine, and Jewish Voice for Peace set up a camp at the university. It garnered little attention; the April 18 New York Times did not mention it. According to Sharif, the school warned protesters they would be suspended if the encampment was not removed. They stayed. On April 18, according to New York mayor Eric Adams, Columbia officials called in New York City police to disband the protest. They arrested more than 100 people, including Representative Omar’s daughter, a Columbia student. The arrests were peaceful.
University faculty and community members were shocked by the resort to law enforcement at a place known both for learning and debate and for its history. In April 1968, in the midst of the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement, a week of protests after students learned of Columbia’s support for weapons research and its plan to construct a seemingly segregated gym in a nearby community had led New York City police to crush the demonstrations with violence.
In the days after the current arrests, nearly a dozen student and faculty groups released statements or open letters objecting to the police presence on campus and supporting students’ rights to free speech and peaceful protest. The protest encampment sprang back up.
At the same time, Jewish leaders warned that antisemitism was increasing. Rabbi Elie Buechler, of the Columbia/Barnard Hillel and Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life, urged Jewish students to return home for Passover, which began April 22, and to stay there for their own safety.
In the next weeks, protests sprang up around the country, with protesters generally demanding that university administrators divest from investments in Israel or in companies that sell weapons, technology, or construction equipment to Israel, and cut ties to Israeli universities. They have tended to turn their anger against President Joe Biden and his administration, whom they blame for what they call a genocide in Gaza. Universities have responded in a variety of ways, from discussion to armed law enforcement officers.
Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have insisted that Israel has a right to defend itself from Hamas and have continued to provide Israel with military defenses, whose importance in stopping the war from spreading showed on April 14, when those defenses shot down virtually all of the weapons Iran launched at Israel. They are working hard for a ceasefire, with Blinken currently in the Middle East and a proposal on the table that Israel has accepted but Hamas has not.
The administration has also stood against the initial policy of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration to cordon off Gaza without food, water, or electricity, and has pressured Israel into permitting humanitarian aid into Gaza. It has also firmly opposed Israeli plans to attack Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians have taken shelter, and has stood firmly in favor of a Palestinian state, which the protesters have not indicated they endorse.
On April 24, House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) visited Columbia, where he called for Shafik to resign. On Monday, April 29, he and Republican leadership met to discuss how they might reenergize the party and gain traction now that their impeachment effort against Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has flopped, the conference is bitterly split, their control of the House of Representatives has resulted in one of the least productive congresses in American history, and their presumptive presidential nominee is being tried for election interference that involved paying off women with whom he had extramarital sex. They settled on campus antisemitism—although Trump’s open embrace of white nationalists makes this problematic—and the campus protests as a sign that Democrats are the party of disorder.
On that same day, 21 House Democrats wrote a letter to Columbia’s trustees demanding they “act decisively, disband the encampment, and ensure the safety and security of all of its students.” That night, protesters took control of Columbia’s Hamilton Hall, where they broke windows and vandalized furniture. About twenty hours later, police in riot gear arrested them. Arrests across the country climbed.
Yesterday, Representative Foxx announced that her committee’s antisemitism investigation will expand into a Congress-wide crackdown on colleges. Today, President Biden addressed the protests, saying they “test two fundamental American principles. The first is the right to free speech and for people to peacefully assemble and make their voices heard. The second is the rule of law. Both must be upheld.”
Biden called for lawful, peaceful protests and warned: “Vandalism, trespassing, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations—none of this is a peaceful protest…. Dissent is essential to democracy,” he said, “But dissent must never lead to disorder or to denying the rights of others so students can finish the semester and their college education…. People have the right to get an education, the right to get a degree, the right to walk across the campus safely without fear of being attacked.”
When asked, he told reporters he did not think the National Guard should be involved in suppressing the protests.
Steven Lee Myers and Tiffany Hsu of the New York Times reported today that Russia, China, and Iran are amplifying the protests “to score geopolitical points abroad and stoke tensions within the United States,” as well as to “undermine President Biden’s reelection prospects.”
It is unclear if the protests will continue during the summer, when fewer students will be on campus.

The roots of today’s protests lie in an investigation by the Republican-dominated House Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Virginia Foxx (R-NC). The committee announced the investigation on December 7, two days after its members spent more than five hours grilling then-president of Harvard University Claudine Gay, then-president of University of Pennsylvania Liz Magill, and president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sally Kornbluth on how their universities were handling student protests against Israel over its military response to Hamas’s attack of October 7.
Led by Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Republicans on the committee insisted that the universities were not protecting Jewish students. The university presidents responded that they deplored antisemitism, that students had the right to free speech, and that they took action against those who violated policies against bullying, harassment, or intimidation. But in their defense of free speech, they admitted both that hate speech against Jews and others is sometimes protected and that they had sometimes made bad calls.
The Republicans’ interest in protecting Jewish students on campus overlapped with their opposition to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives that they associate with Democrats. Burgess Owens (R-UT) said DEI initiatives protect Black students at the expense of others. “I just remember a couple of years ago when we were dealing with Black Lives Matter,” he said. “Try to talk about Blue Lives Matter, Jew Lives Matter, Arab Lives Matter—they call it racist. It’s time for us to focus on what’s happening on your campuses.”
Stefanik called the testimony “pathetic” and, along with 74 other members of Congress, demanded that Gay, Harvard’s first Black president, resign. On January 2, following accusations she had plagiarized scholarly work, she did. Her resignation followed that of Liz Magill. “TWO DOWN,” Stefanik wrote on social media.
Two days after the university presidents’ testimony, Stefanik announced that the House Education and Workforce Committee would be investigating universities. “We will use our full Congressional authority to hold these schools accountable for their failure on the global stage,” she said.
On February 12 the committee informed Columbia it was next up. Columbia University president Nemat "Minouche" Shafik had been unable to testify with the other presidents in December and gave her testimony to the committee on April 17, along with co-chairs of the Board of Trustees Claire Shipman and David Greenwald and former dean David Schizer over the university's response to antisemitism.
In an April 16 essay in the Wall Street Journal, Shafik wrote that “antisemitism and calls for genocide have no place at a university…but that leaves plenty of room for robust disagreement and debate.” She said she prioritizes “the safety and security of our community” and that while the attack of October 7 had a "deep personal impact" on the Jewish and Israeli communities, there was also a "humanitarian catastrophe" in Gaza, and the war was "part of a larger story of Palestinian displacement." She explained that Columbia had defined a space for protests to enable those they upset to avoid them.
Opening the hearing, committee chair Foxx said: “Since October 7, this Committee and the nation have watched in horror as so many of our college campuses, particularly the most expensive, so-called elite schools, have erupted into hotbeds of antisemitism and hate.” Stefanik called out tenured professor Joseph Massad of the Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies department, who called the October 7 attack a “stunning victory.”
Shafik responded by condemning the professor’s statements. “Trying to reconcile the free speech rights of those who want to protest and the rights of Jewish students to be in an environment free of harassment or discrimination has been the central challenge on our campus, and many others, in recent months…. We do not, and will not, tolerate antisemitic threats, images, and other violations…. We have enforced, and we will continue to enforce, our policies against such actions,” she said.
Ilhan Omar (D-MN) questioned Shafik about discrimination against pro-Palestinian protesters. She noted that Israel-born assistant professor Shai Davidai was accused of harassing pro-Palestinian students; Shafik said they have had more than 50 complaints about him and he is under investigation.
On April 17, the same day the Columbia officials testified, pro-Palestinian protesters organized by Columbia University Apartheid Divest (a self-described “coalition of student organizations that see Palestine as the vanguard for our collective liberation”), Students for Justice in Palestine, and Jewish Voice for Peace set up a camp at the university. It garnered little attention; the April 18 New York Times did not mention it. According to Sharif, the school warned protesters they would be suspended if the encampment was not removed. They stayed. On April 18, according to New York mayor Eric Adams, Columbia officials called in New York City police to disband the protest. They arrested more than 100 people, including Representative Omar’s daughter, a Columbia student. The arrests were peaceful.
University faculty and community members were shocked by the resort to law enforcement at a place known both for learning and debate and for its history. In April 1968, in the midst of the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement, a week of protests after students learned of Columbia’s support for weapons research and its plan to construct a seemingly segregated gym in a nearby community had led New York City police to crush the demonstrations with violence.
In the days after the current arrests, nearly a dozen student and faculty groups released statements or open letters objecting to the police presence on campus and supporting students’ rights to free speech and peaceful protest. The protest encampment sprang back up.
At the same time, Jewish leaders warned that antisemitism was increasing. Rabbi Elie Buechler, of the Columbia/Barnard Hillel and Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life, urged Jewish students to return home for Passover, which began April 22, and to stay there for their own safety.
In the next weeks, protests sprang up around the country, with protesters generally demanding that university administrators divest from investments in Israel or in companies that sell weapons, technology, or construction equipment to Israel, and cut ties to Israeli universities. They have tended to turn their anger against President Joe Biden and his administration, whom they blame for what they call a genocide in Gaza. Universities have responded in a variety of ways, from discussion to armed law enforcement officers.
Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have insisted that Israel has a right to defend itself from Hamas and have continued to provide Israel with military defenses, whose importance in stopping the war from spreading showed on April 14, when those defenses shot down virtually all of the weapons Iran launched at Israel. They are working hard for a ceasefire, with Blinken currently in the Middle East and a proposal on the table that Israel has accepted but Hamas has not.
The administration has also stood against the initial policy of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration to cordon off Gaza without food, water, or electricity, and has pressured Israel into permitting humanitarian aid into Gaza. It has also firmly opposed Israeli plans to attack Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians have taken shelter, and has stood firmly in favor of a Palestinian state, which the protesters have not indicated they endorse.
On April 24, House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) visited Columbia, where he called for Shafik to resign. On Monday, April 29, he and Republican leadership met to discuss how they might reenergize the party and gain traction now that their impeachment effort against Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has flopped, the conference is bitterly split, their control of the House of Representatives has resulted in one of the least productive congresses in American history, and their presumptive presidential nominee is being tried for election interference that involved paying off women with whom he had extramarital sex. They settled on campus antisemitism—although Trump’s open embrace of white nationalists makes this problematic—and the campus protests as a sign that Democrats are the party of disorder.
On that same day, 21 House Democrats wrote a letter to Columbia’s trustees demanding they “act decisively, disband the encampment, and ensure the safety and security of all of its students.” That night, protesters took control of Columbia’s Hamilton Hall, where they broke windows and vandalized furniture. About twenty hours later, police in riot gear arrested them. Arrests across the country climbed.

I’m increasingly becoming convinced that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) does jack shit. This post is relevant to USC, but for some context, last week, a 66-y/o woman was repeatedly stabbed to death on the Metro at night by a 45-y/o with a long history of crime (LA Times); people can’t even fucking enjoy retirement age. Yesterday 3am, after a long night of studying for finals, I walked to El Huero, the small taco place on Fig, and witnessed a road rage hit-and-run. The collision left the victim’s car completely totaled and she was clearly in distress; luckily, the dumbass perpetrator’s license plate detached upon impact and inadvertently abandoned it on the crime scene. She calls 911 and the dispatch operator morbidly tells her “sorry no officers can come right now, you have to file a report online and call a tow truck to get your car out of the road.” How fucked is that? A whole ass felony just happened and not one cop can come to interview the victim or collect the license plate as evidence. The median LAPD officer salary is $104k btw (Glassdoor)! And classic USC DPS-ambassador comes around 15 minutes later with a dumbfounded face “Yo guys, is everything okay?” Yeah bro, everything is okay. But guys, somehow, SOMEHOW, several helicopters and hundreds of LAPD officers seem happy to swiftly swarm peaceful student protests (in a militarized fashion) on-campus at 4:30AM this morning (and previous protests as well). A few days ago, some 60 cop cars roll-up parked on-campus in the evening to presumably intimidate potential protests(??). Not saying these protests shouldn’t prompt some police response, but com’on, what’s with the response discrepancy? LAPD needs to get their priorities straight and set a higher standard for themselves, and the judicial system included. If you can send an army to shutdown a peaceful student protest at the middle of the night, then you can station at least one fucking cop on every public transit stop around the clock. Everyone I’ve talked to, and myself included, feel unsafe too often than not when taking public transit here. I am from NYC and I would take the subway every school day for at least an hour, and during my morning commutes I always feel safe to close my eyes and doze off (rarely subways would reek too). NYPD (New York Police Department) there does not tolerate delinquents who pester passengers, crackheads high on fent that tweak tf out, people who smoke or blast music on speakers, and even for fare-hopping the NYPD always steps-in. But LAPD? Push-overs. Something exhibits great influence when you constantly feel it’s presence, like a school principal who cares or an effective boss, etc.. LAPD does not exhibit this. This all goes to also say, as voting season is underway, please ballot for politicians with proactive law-enforcement policies. I am not anti-police and I am sure there are some great LAPD officers out there, but until the overall sentiment of public safety in Los Angeles is improved, I genuinely think politicians and LAPD needs to stop twiddling their fingers with each other and step-up their game.

As the title suggests, I had my iPhone 15 Pro Max stolen about 3 months ago. I was walking down the street, about a minute away from my house (unfortunate, I know), on my phone watching something. I guess I should’ve known better, as I do live in the Bronx, but alas, 4 teenagers (one was actually over 18, as the NYPD later said) surrounded me and mugged me of my phone as well as my fake AirPods. I reported the crime to the police, and also put my phone on Lost Mode. The NYPD didn’t really do anything about my case, other than interview me a bit about the crime, and I tracked the iPhone going from my part of the Bronx, just outside Parkchester, to Longwood. It stayed there for a couple of days, and I didn’t go there to get it because that place is infested with gangs and thugs and I didn’t want to go amongst all that. Then the phone moved up to Vermont in upstate NY all of a sudden, and then came back to another area of the Bronx. Afterwards, it got carried over to a shipping center in NJ (the robbers had presumably sold it to someone, I guess), and that was my chance to call that shipping center and let them know that they had my phone. Unfortunately, I was day late in calling them, and by the time I called them, they had closed for the night, and by next morning, my phone was out for delivery. It eventually got to the home of a person, whose address I reverse searched to find his name on USPhonebook and number. Interestingly, he had no number listed there (quite weird, because almost everyone has their number listed thee, unless they ask the website to remove it). However, there was a woman’s name listed their as one of his relatives, and one of her previous addresses was at this man’s house, so I called her number and left her a message saying if she could contact that man and ask him about my phone, but I had no response. I also called and messaged some of that man’s neighbors, but I had no response from them either. To be honest what did I expect, I’m just another random number calling them (I had also put my phone number on Unknown Caller ID). Then, about 2 months ago, my phone showed up on FindMy at Dekang Road, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. So my phone had probably been sold to a Chinese buyer (probably one of the thousands of Chinese buyers there who buy and resell stolen phones). Up to now, my phone’s location has not updated, and so it has probably been hacked into and my data wiped, so it could be reset as a new phone. Now, I know that all this time, my phone has most likely not been broken into, since all of my passwords and accounts are safe as of now. So because of that, I know that all the people that have received my phone have seen the screen saying that “This is a stolen phone, please call ###-###-#### (that’s what I wrote on the screen for Lost Mode)”, and they haven’t done anything about it. My question is does anyone on this sub know what actually happened to my phone? Is there any criminal ring or something you guys know about that most stolen phones go to? For example, I know that there’s a really large market in China selling stolen phones and whatnot. I would be really grateful if anyone had any answers to my questions, or just anything that you guys think I should know.

College campuses are on edge after a clash in LA and hundreds of arrests around the country.- Things got violent on the UCLA campus last night, in the latest sign that pro-Palestinian protests on dozens of campuses nationwide are escalating. The confrontation at UCLA was apparently sparked by pro-Israel counter-protesters who approached the barriers around a pro-Palestinian encampment, ripping down placards, tearing down barriers and shouting abuse. Fifteen people were hurt in the ensuing brawl, according to the president of the University of California, although the exact number seems to be in question. UCLA canceled classes on Wednesday. On the other side of the country, at Columbia University, NYPD cops moved into the Hamilton Hall administration building, which pro-Palestinian demonstrators had occupied the night before. Overall, more than 1,000 demonstrators have been arrested on campuses, many of whom aren’t students. That last part is a dilemma for school administrators, as they look to find ways to keep the protests from interfering with imminent commencement ceremonies and final exams. University of Chicago president Paul Alivisatos, for example, hailed the “core animating value” of free expression…while issuing a plea (warning?) to protesters to consider alternatives to an encampment. As of this writing, the U of C encampment is still growing. It shouldn’t be lost you, dear What a Day reader, that Chicago will host the Democratic National Convention later this summer.
- Meanwhile, in the Middle East, the home of the actual war, U.S. and Saudi officials are doing their best to talk up a massive defense pact that would normalize relations with Israel and incentivize Israel’s right-wing government to end the war in Gaza and endorse a future Palestinian state. The deal would require landing lots of political back-flips, like OK’ing advanced U.S. weapons for the Saudis, who recently have had a tendency to use them in Yemen; giving the Saudis security guarantees even against an aggressive Iran; and, maybe hardest of all, getting PM Benjamin Netanyahu (or a successor?) to endorse Palestinian statehood. Add onto all of that the likely need to get Senate treaty ratification from skeptical and divided lawmakers.
- In Gaza, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other negotiators are still hoping a proposed ceasefire deal can stave off Israel’s planned invasion of Rafah. As of this writing, Hamas still hasn’t responded to the offer, which would exchange the release of 33 Israeli hostages for a 40-day ceasefire and clearance for displaced Palestinians to move back north in the strip. Desperately-needed humanitarian aid is reportedly flowing more freely over the last week. Still, Jordan said two of its Gaza-bound humanitarian aid convoys were attacked by Israeli settlers as they made their way through the West Bank.

I’m gonna set a background for y’all rq, I’m 14 years old male and I have autism, nothing too bad just Asperger’s or whatever it’s called and I tend to forget a lot of things. Guys I’m gonna be real with y’all this is gonna be a very long story, not sure why I’m posting it to Reddit but whatever. Late September 2023 I mean that when it started, I got caught. I was speaking to a large amount of my friends from other schools in the district (on the school emails) and we had been saying some really outta pocket stuff, fortunately censoring what we say cause we’re not stupid, er at least my friends ain’t. I slipped up one time. We were joking around and I said that one of my friends, we’ll call him Micheal, I said that he had illegal firearms in his possession and was planning on bringing them to his school. HE WASN’T and doesn’t own anything of the sort btw. Anyways a couple hours later I’m called down to the main office and like the entire staff in my school is there waiting for me. They showed me EVERYTHING me and my friends have been saying throughout their e-mail system. There was a lot of things, racist remarks From my friends and I along with fake threats and the like. School REALLY didn’t like that, gave us all 2 weeks suspensions. My parents are pissed right I mean so pissed that I’ve been grounded since February of this year. Not a lot to say about my parents to that regard except that they were mad. Anyways 2 weeks go by and I’m back at school, (late October) everyone is so surprised they’re like “no way he’s back” and stuff. So I go around explaining what happened to my friends throughout the classes I’m in and eventually we get to 6th period; science class. Since I was suspended for 2 weeks prior to this I had a lot of time to do the work for all of my classes, and I did. The project for science we were doing was using this website Neal.fun with the asteroid section and documenting what’d happen on any place on the earth and whatever. So I’m speaking to the teacher right and I say “oh I chose to blow up [school name] for the project” whilst other kids were choosing their friends houses etc. the teacher, we’ll call her Mrs Harris, Mrs Harris says to me “oh that’s nice, how’d you do the project” cause she believed I didn’t have my computer over the 2 week suspension period for whatever reason and were talking, going through the motions whatever. Period goes fine or at least that was my understanding. 7th period (English) comes and I say something I probably shouldn’t have. My good friend is talking to me about my suspension and quote says “oh you’re- you’re so mad you’re gonna shoot up the school” “I-“ “wait what would you even use to do it??” “There’s a gun in my dad’s closet” we laugh about it and whatever. Btw I gotta mention this was said in a joking manner, I would never do something like that. Anyways I get called out into the hallway by the school security guard (bros former NYPD so I knew it was serious immediately) apparently someone overheard what I said and reported it. I’m brought down to the office and the police are waiting for me. They talk about what I said in 7th blah blah blah. But then they bring up the fact that my science teacher said I and they quote “threatened to bomb the school and had plans to do so” which I DID NOT say. Surprised the shi outta me and I denied that but you know they ain’t believe me. School decides its best to suspend me indefinitely (expel) and even though my parents are pissed asf about everything they decide to call up some lawyer and tell him everything, our lawyer decides to then contact the school about it and the school backs down a little. They decide to let me back in when we’re ready (which at this point would have been 3 weeks into the suspension) and they also decide to pay for any private school tuition forever and the lawyer fees so that’s awesome. Btw I was gone for 2 months and cops came to my house 3 times over that period because of false reports. So 2 months go by as my parents weigh out our options and eventually I go back to school, mainly cause none of the private schools would accept me this time even bigger reaction from the students cause they thought I wasn’t gonna come back. Nothing really happens for a while. There’s a crap ton of more stuff to this story but I’m just gonna leave it here for now. Please tell me if I should talk about the rest.

When he refused, another man wearing a balaclava came around with a knife and demanded cash. Cops said the crooks got away with only $35. The victim was not injured. A few hours later the same couple struck again. At around 10:20 am, a 68-year-old woman was walking near the intersection of Mosholu Avenue and Huxley Avenue in North Riverdale. Cops said the same woman walked up to the retiree and demanded her purse. Then her male partner walked up behind the woman and yanked the purse off her shoulder. The crooks then ran off. Cops said the purse contained only $20. An hour later the same crew struck for the third and final time on April 21. At around 11:45 am, a 79-year-old woman was walking near the intersection of West 233 Street and Broadway in Kingsbridge. Cops said this time the male ran up to the victim alone and yanked her purse away. He ran off with the stolen purse to a waiting car and drove off. Cops said the purse contained an Apple iPhone and car keys. The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect. He is described as a male with a light compelxion and medium to thin build. He was last seen wearing a black balaclava and a black Chicago White Sox baseball cap. He also wore a gray hoodie, black jogging pants and black sneakers with red soles. Before that day, i watched all YouTube videos about buying a car and searched through the internet for what i needed to check before buying a car. So i checked everything. Also one of my friend who knows better about cars, he was with me. Everything seemed fine from my side. The seller gave me the bill of sale, title, and registration, which i needed for the ownership transfer. I paid with cash. Then, i went to the DMV with all the papers i had. They processed the transfer, and i received the plates also registration instantly on my name. My car also passed at inspection from a garage. Later, I received my title within a month at my mailing address. Everything went smoothly. Now i am driving this car since 3 months without any issues. However, last week i received a mail at my address informing me that my car needed to be inspected by DMV Field investigation office(I already verified from NYPD, this office is legit and law enforcement ). When I called them to inquire, they asked me to come with the car, registration and title. Two days before, i went there, the investigator informed me that the car was stolen and that the VIN had been altered, possibly cloned from another car of the same model and year and colour(Honda Accord 2022 black). The actual vin of this car is stolen and they removed the vin number from everywhere and put the altered vin in the car. I realized I had been scammed. They impounded my car and kept everything. The seller already changed his Facebook name. I lost my $27,000 and my car, which held all the good memories from the past three months. I went to the police station to file a report, but they refused, stating that it was not a scam as I willingly found the car on Marketplace and paid for it. They advised me to pursue it as a civil matter. I then went to civil court, but they told me I needed to know the name and address of the person to take any action, which I couldn't obtain as he had already changed his Facebook name and provide everything fake. I feel helpless and don't know where to turn for help. Even call some attorney helpline and they saying without know the seller name and address they can’t even help me. My question is how could i catch the person without law enforcement help. New york police even not taking my report and asking me to find out the person!!! I live here alone without my family. I can’t even sleep properly because this was all my savings, and I've never been through a situation like this before. This is an unexpected nightmare that I could never even imagine in my dreams. First, to recap season 1, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The hate season 1 gets is so overblown. Highlights in every episode, something interesting in every scene. What a fun, detail-oriented, suspenseful, tragicomic show!
And, um, now. . . as I move onto season 2. . . here are my thoughts. . .

Y’know, when David Caruso left NYPD Blue in the beginning of season 2, David Milch (writecreator) wisely gave the audience’s discomfort/disappointment about Caruso’s departure to the character of Sipowicz— Sipowicz’s inability to accept change (being an alcoholic creature of habit), mirrored how the audience was up in arms about the removal of a beloved character. As Jimmy Smits (who blows Caruso out of the water) is introduced to the show, his first interaction with Sipowicz is as follows:
Smits comes over to his new partner (Sipowicz) and says, “Hey, how’s it goin’?”
Sipowicz replies: “Yeah, hi,” and then he immediately goes to his Lieutenant, and tells him, “This isn’t gonna work, what with my new partner.”
“Why not, Andy?” Sipowicz is asked.
“This hey-how’s-it-goin’ crap, it’s not gonna work . . .”
And then, as the season developed, the audience/Sipowicz together grew to love and appreciate Jimmy Smits’ character Bobby. A wonderfully executed transition, and an insightful look at the TV writing process.
Which. . . sigh. . . brings me to Bruce Boxleightner. . .
Alright, so— Sinclair is gone. He’s gone. I had just warmed up to him and he’s gone. Ripped from the show. No Sinclair! Goodbye, so long. One question: . . . who the hell does Bruce Boxleightner think he is? And WHY was he cast? Tron or no Tron. My initial thoughts toward him, unfortunately, are unkind. He’s a ham sandwich! A boy scout! I hope my judements will transform to appreciation as I continue, however at the moment I'm at a complete loss as to why JMS thought THIS guy should be our new commander.

But it just doesn't work as well. . .
What are people’s thoughts on Boxleightner, without any spoilers? What was it like to experience this transition in real time? Is ANYONE with me in feeling that B.B is poorly cast?

Morden is compelling!
What is likable about this guy, Boxleightner? Who gives a shit about his sister? What are ANY defining characteristics so far that he has? None! His sister is an exposition machine. Their dialogue together is trite.
“What I have become, what I suffer, requires only you” is a great line.

Alien gangs with ridiculous sashes, pointing to the ridiculousness of gang warfare, but a bit on the nose and a bit silly.
There's a trend in film/tv that oranges portend tragedy (see: The Godfather)— Ivanova and Sheridan enjoy freshly squeezed orange juice, perhaps a sign of forthcoming tragedy? Sheridan is later given an orange blossom. . . could this be a sign/portent?

Ivanova failing but trying so hard regardless, but then stumbling into a solution with the Drazi.
The Acme reference with Mike and Drazi was fun.
The idea of a holo-demon is so cool!
Delenn comes out of her chrysalis, and. . . she just has long hair. . . well? Is she half-human now?
Overall, I'm struggling, but I will continue to watch and enjoy the show.

And, um, now. . . as I move onto season 2. . . here are my thoughts. . .

Y’know, when David Caruso left NYPD Blue in the beginning of season 2, David Milch (writecreator) wisely gave the audience’s discomfort/disappointment about Caruso’s departure to the character of Sipowicz— Sipowicz’s inability to accept change (being an alcoholic creature of habit), mirrored how the audience was up in arms about the removal of a beloved character. As Jimmy Smits (who blows Caruso out of the water) is introduced to the show, his first interaction with Sipowicz is as follows:
Smits comes over to his new partner (Sipowicz) and says, “Hey, how’s it goin’?”
Sipowicz replies: “Yeah, hi,” and then he immediately goes to his Lieutenant, and tells him, “This isn’t gonna work, what with my new partner.”
“Why not, Andy?” Sipowicz is asked.
“This hey-how’s-it-goin’ crap, it’s not gonna work . . .”
And then, as the season developed, the audience/Sipowicz together grew to love and appreciate Jimmy Smits’ character Bobby. A wonderfully executed transition, and an insightful look at the TV writing process.
Which. . . sigh. . . brings me to Bruce Boxleightner. . .
Alright, so— Sinclair is gone. He’s gone. I had just warmed up to him and he’s gone. Ripped from the show. No Sinclair! Goodbye, so long. One question: . . . who the hell does Bruce Boxleightner think he is? And WHY was he cast? Tron or no Tron. My initial thoughts toward him, unfortunately, are unkind. He’s a ham sandwich! A boy scout! I hope my judements will transform to appreciation as I continue, however at the moment I'm at a complete loss as to why JMS thought THIS guy should be our new commander.

I (25m), was recently scammed by these pieces of shit who were impersonating law enforcement. before I start off, I just want to make clear, this is a lesson learned to always take a breath before acting, be extra cautious before giving out sensitive information and to ALWAYS keep yourself informed. I will admit there were handful of red flags in this scam but I ignored it by the sheer gravity and bizarreness of the situation. 2 weeks before the scam, I matched with this chick on Badoo, a knock-off dating app similar to Tinder and Hinge. She hits me up first, sweet talking me right from the get-go. We exchange numbers and I received a message from her on WhatsApp. It all looked very real: the girl, the phone number with a NYC area code, with the exception that it was a business account. She was very flirty from the jump, and then, without hesitation, she offered her prostitution services such as video calls, sexting, webcam services and meet-ups for some "hide the zucchini time". I was pretty upset when I saw this because I was definitely captivated by the short amount attention and sweet-talk she gave me. I rejected her offer of services and told her that it's not for me. She later asked when we were going to meet up, that's when I knew that that it was attempt to scam. I thought that was the end of that, but boy was I wrong!
2 weeks later. I get a call from a 212 area code, which for those of you who don't know, that's the most popular area code in the borough of Manhattan. Many offices, businesses and even people carry that area code if they are working or living in Manhattan. I pick up the call, In Spanish, they started the convo and asked for my name and I said "Yes this is he". He introduced himself as a Police Officer from NYPD's 1st Precinct, which is not far from where I work. He asked me if I spoke with a girl by the name of something-something via a dating app and WhatsApp. I recalled the name because of a faint memory and I immediately remembered that name being the person who offered her xxx services. He asked if I conversed with her and I told him that I did but I ended that conversation immediately when she attempted to sell me her services. I was hearing police chit chat and walkie's in the background. "10-4, headed there now", "We are receiving reports of an EDP at ..." and many other background noise to authenticate where he was and his claims. This whole entire conversations in Spanish, which I didn't find weird because Puerto Rican's and Domincan's and other latino's are very much represented in NYPD. In Spanish, he told me that there is a warrant out for my arrest due to my involvement with this girl who supposedly a minor and is originally from the Dominican Republic and is currently missing here in the United States. I froze when I heard that! I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I was flabbergasted, bamboozled, whatever hyperbole you could think of because of sheer gravity of this allegation. I also recently saw Mel Gibson's "Sound of Freedom" (great movie if you haven't seen it), which talks about the horrors of child trafficking and the complexity of their network on an international level, so my imagination was at an all time high. I was panicking, didn't know how to comprehend the situation, and on the verge of crying due to the thought of what I got myself unintentionally involved in. Panicking and afraid, I complied with this scum's demands. This is where I should've realized it was a scam. He told me that I had two options: Get detained right now while I was at work, or give a payment of $3,790USD in order to make my warrant go away. I know what you might be thinking, "How did you not know it was a scam from the jump?", "Scam was written all over this!" I want you to put yourself in my shoes. They knew the person from the dating app, they knew I spoke Spanish, they knew where I worked based on the distance between my job site and the Precinct, they copied and used the number of the 1st Precinct, and on top off all that, I was panicking from this bizarre allegation. These were clearly professionals and did their homework on me and my background. Sadly, I complied with giving them $2K USD. I told them that this was all I had to give for that day and they were telling me that I have to give a payment of $250 every week to make up for the rest of the money and that they have my phone wire-tapped so if I were to tell anyone about an "ongoing investigation", then I will be arrested. They hung up and I was left in shock, and $2K poorer.
Fast-forward to the following day, I went through my daily routine, but with my cortisol levels at an all time high. I got to work and I had the need to tell someone. I took the "risk" of confiding with my co-workers and explained to my colleague the situation. He stopped me mid convo, and told me that it was an outright scam and that I need to call the bank and the police. I massive weight came off me because I came back to reality and realized that he was right, I got F*CKING scammed! I called a P.O who gave us his number if were in any trouble, left him a voicemail, and while waiting for his call back, I called the bank to dispute that transaction I made, and it was a success. 10 mins later after the call with the bank, this hero of a Police Officer called me back, I informed him of the situation, told him what happened from the very beginning. He explained to me how the procedure for a warrant works and emphasized how a police officer or any kind of law enforcement will NEVER ask you for any money. A few mins into the call, I provided him with the number he called me from and the number they texted me from, which had some information that they sent me such as an email, a Cashapp handle and a few other things. He took care of it in the most bad-ass way and told me to come to the precinct at my earliest convenience to present any kind of evidence I have for a report that needs to be made. A couple hours after the call with the P.O, this scum attempted to call me, still using 1st Precinct and later texted me saying that the cops are out to get me. I mentioned scum multiple times, because that's what these people are, SCUM OF THE EARTH. They prey on people and now that people aren't getting fooled so easily, their scams are becoming more complex.
Please, for the love everything that's good in the world, be careful out there guys. Protect yourselves, your family members, people you know who are on the gullible side. These scammers are getting more and more creative. Making their scams more real, more more vivid, more specific, and more bizarre to add shock value to f*ck to your psyche. Major lesson learned there.
